I’m the anon that asked about you working during the strike. I really don’t want to ask dumb questions, but even after lots of googling with SAG and Japan, I can’t figure it out. Is there a reason why Japan isn’t part of the SAG??

If I’m missing something this probably sounds dumb but I’m being serious

Hey, good on you for trying to figure things out! I don't think it's dumb to ask questions but just to be absolutely clear:

SAG-AFTRA is an American Union. A union is an organization formed by workers of a certain industry which can then use its combined power to create large-scale events to disrupt workflow of that industry if the employers are forcing them into unfair working conditions or lowball pay.

America and Japan are separate countries, and their industries, although they interact on a global scale, are not the same thing. Although there are global, international unions, SAG-AFTRA is specifically an American organization. So is the WGA (Writer's Guild of America).

Do not live in the US

Do not work in Screenwriting, acting, etc nor any Hollywood industry

Am not a part of either union, nor indeed am QUALIFIED to be a part of the union

My actual career - what I do for a living - has nothing to do with writing or acting. I work on this comic as a hobby. I'm not legally or financially associated with Cartoon Network of Hollywood or ANYONE in the WGA or SAG. If I stop writing my comics, it will not inconvenience anyone in the Hollywood industry, because.... they don't make money off of me in any way.

The unions organize the strikes with people who are part of the union. They work together to push the industry (mainly the AMPTP) to give the union-members better control of their own Intellectual Property in regards to AI use in the entertainment industry, residual pay from streaming, and etc.

To clarify: I'm not a worker. I'm not a part of this industry. I'm a fanartist. I draw you guys comics..... for free. No company is paying me for this. I survive off of the donations of my Patreon supporters and my IRL job (which is Education).

If that still feels like a lot to take in, try this metaphor:

Asking me if I'm 'scabbing' by continuing to write/draw my comic while WGA is striking is like asking a kid in Japan why they're playing outside while middle schoolers in California are trying to petition for longer recess times.

wait so in the kauri piece you just reblogged, jameson is living in the house but the QP3 hasn't happened yet - could you maybe give a rough timeline of chris arriving, jake and kauri getting together, jake getting his own house, new rescue, and when QP3 happens? sorry i know that's a lot to ask i just was confused

No worries! Find, the timeline even in my own mind is very rough because I really am just writing this for funsies on the internet and tend to change my mind a lot. But, more or less:

Jake goes to college at 18, drops out at 19. He has already gotten interested in the pet liberation movement and at one point gets a job working for Nat at her safe house. Saves up for a few years until he can go back to college. He changes his major to be something in public health, which actually puts him in a better position for working in the pet liberation community.

When Jake is 23, Antoni comes to live with them. At this time, the safehouse has Krista, Leila, Trevor (you only see him in one of Chris's early pieces), and Antoni.

Kauri starts coming by when Jake is 23. Kauri has been with Owen since he was 18, and escapes at 21ish. So: Jake and Kauri meet when Jake is 23 and Kauri is 21.

When Jake is 25, Chris arrives. He is 17 years old when rescued.

Everyone has their many adventures over a period of several years.

Nat decides she is thinking about not taking on any rescues for a while after Krista and Leila move out.

Jake buys a house to use to start his own safehouse and decides to focus on Romantics, who are legendarily and famously hard to work with largely due to issues with personal boundaries and learned helplessness. He is 32 and has been working with rescues for more than a decade. Antoni goes with him, as Antoni doesn't want to become more independent and prefers to do what he can to help people.

He and Kauri get together romantically when Kauri is almost 30 and Jake is almost 33. Chris is 25ish.

The new rescues filter in to Jake's safehouse over the course of about a year. During this time, Jake and Kauri are explicitly a couple but Antoni isn't yet part of it.

Jake is 33 when he is stabbed. During the recovery, he and Antoni have the Conversation where Antoni admits he considers Jake his partner, and Jake agrees. So does Kauri. They decide to move forward as a throuple. Commence: QPR.

So, basically, Chris's story began with Jake being 25 but still in college because he had to drop out and save for years in order to go back. To the current present day it has been about 9 years.

Jake and Kauri have known each other for about a decade but were not together for most of that time.

Danny is at a Ghost Hunting Convention in Gotham with his parents. He hates his past self for thinking that going to Gotham was a good idea.

He's in a tank, full of water, with a curtain draped over it as the Joker waxes poetic about how Batman is too late and blah, blah, blah.

Danny has bigger problems than Batman's pissing contest with Joker.

His parents are on the outside of the water tank he's been stuck in for the last twenty minutes. As a Halfa, he just stopped breathing, no big deal.

But they don't know he can do that.

He needs to do something so that they don't think he's a ghost, and going intangible is out because, obviously, that would make him a ghost.

...Hadn't Clockwork said that his status as a Halfa made him...flexible? On what he looked like?

That meant shapechanging, like Amorpho.

It would be really, really hard to explain, but also, better than being mistaken for a ghost.

He squeezes his eyes shut, hopes he doesn't come out of this looking like a horrifying version of clayface, forces himself to change.

The skin on his neck ripples, his legs fuse like when he's in his ghost form, and the sensation is so strange he gasps...and he can breathe.

The curtain is still over the tank of water.

Danny is glowing.

There are freckles that are glowing a soft green that dot his arms and...tail.

He's a mermaid. Merman.

Well.

Danny was tired, like 'I feel it in my bones and soul' tired. And he didn't want sleep at home because there's only so many nights, he could spend lying awake making sure his heart was beating in case his parents checked on him.

Currently he was flying aimlessly not really taking in his surroundings, but he could neither sleep while flying or fly forever. Normally he'd sleep over at Sam or Tucker's, but the Mansons had made it clear that he wasn't welcome at their house anymore and Tucker was grounded. Both would sneak him in if he asked, but he didn't want them to get in trouble for him. Which leads him to decide between his two choices, sleeping in a graveyard, or sleeping in a forest.

The graveyard was a little crowded with all the ghosts that called it home but he could probably find a quiet spot to sleep. The forest had a great view of the stars but was filled with traps from both his parents and the GIW after tracking his ecto-signature. Both options weren't appealing, but he wasn't about to chance sleeping on the roof of his house again. There were too many ghost detecting guns attached to it now. Danny sighed, graveyard it was, at least the ecto from all the shades/ghosts would hide him well enough. Decision made, now all he had to do was make his way over there. But first, where the heck was he? Danny looked around at the unfamiliar grey sky and gargoyles littered around and realized he had no clue where he was. He must have flown too far away from Amity without noticing...Again. It was really becoming a bad habit. Danny stared down at the city's inhabitants that were going home or heading to nightshifts or whatever and dreaded the long flight back to his town. And maybe it was ghost instinct, or maybe it was just his exhaustion. But his brain suggested 'What if I just possess someone?' And to him that seemed like a perfectly logical train of thought. He wouldn't control their body or anything, just sleep in their skin...That did not make it sound better at all. Before he could think twice, someone left a general store, arms filled with stuff and somehow projecting an aura of safety. The two thoughts of 'They look comfy' and 'screw it' clashed together in his head as he made the very stupid decision of performing a swan drive right into the someone. "WHAT THE-" "Don't worry, I'll be gone by morning I just need to sleep" Danny cut off the persons freakout-he should really get their name at some point- he would have explained more but the sleep gods had already done their job. This left one very confused, scared, and freaked out Batkid.
