26. Who likes to eat healthy/ Who loves junk food?

ooh ok, so this is interesting!

cos we know that beth cooks a lot, and uses (making) food as a way to express care (and guilt). but also that if she’s sad, and doesn’t have other ppl to perform those duties for (and i do think perform is the right word), she stops doing all of that, and dramatically eats depressing lean cuisine meals at the dining table by herself (bc both beth and rio need to moon around like they’re in an emo music video at all times, apparently).

now *I* would probs describe her lean cuisine stuff as junky, but idk if it exactly falls into the typical category of junk food? particularly bc when annie and ruby are rinsing her for her pathetic dinners, they’re trying to lure her into a big mac instead. [sidenote: mcdonalds patties are gross, if they’d suggested something edible like bk or kfc i feel like she mightve bitten.]

AND while i think that beth probs has some thoughts abt supplying the kids with healthy food, i dont really think it’s at the forefront of her obsession with it? it’s more of a display of attention, and i think in direct opposition to the flashback we get of her and annie meeting ruby for the very first time. i don’t think that’s played as beth being resentful at playing provider, or annoyed at having to look after annie, in fact it’s almost like it’s an adventure? BUT the issue is they literally don’t have groceries at home, and i definitely think that preparing elaborate meals for the family to eat together, creating personalised, detailed lunches for the kids to take to school, and being known as the attendant baking mother, are all things that became important to her bc of not (always?) having such markers of affection from her parent/s growing up.

and then rio definitely seems enthusiastic abt food, but idk that i necessarily get ‘junk’ (or at least fast) food vibes off of him? firstly, he seems extremely pretentious, and also is clearly a wildly irritating neatfreak. i can’t see him allowing a greasy bag in his car, lol (maybe if the food’s quintuple bagged??? and even then probs not...)

i do think that both beth and rio are probably v pompous abt food, and kinda pious abt their child/ren eating healthily in public, but both have some junk food/s they’re really into, which they’re kinda secretive abt. and i think especially in a post-dean scenario where the divorce has happened and beth is getting comfortable with not always having the kids around, she’d start to indulge a lil more with things SHE likes, and that’d include whatever her fave junk food is (again: not a big mac, cos they’re gross), but in a fun, thrilling way with a big glass of wine, not in a depressing lean cuisine at the dining table alone kind of way. AND i think if beth and rio did get closer, revealing their secret junk food faves to each other would be a big deal bc they’re both so private and prickly and image-obsessed

27. Who takes a long shower/ Who sings in the shower? 

beth definitely takes a long time in the bathroom when she has time for it, but i think she’s more of a bath person than a shower person if she can indulge? (or a sobbing on the floor while leaving the water running person, i suppose.)

and i feel like beth currently isnt a singing in the shower kind of person, and i do find it fascinating that we’ve had both annie and ruby singing (and have a sense of their music taste), and we dont really have that for beth, and she’s the main character! and christina can sing!

i’m really hopeful that there’s a trajectory where beth comes more into her own and re/discovers her own (music) tastes. feel like beth starting to sing in the shower would be the perfect cap to finally getting dean out of the house for good!!!

given rio apparently has all the time in the world to devote to stalking and dramatics, i assume he’s the one taking long showers atm!

11/10 in every way (as long as not shipped as uwu) and the age gap is a big part of what really makes this ship in the first place

Love me all of this misplaced father/son dynamic stuff going on, since Isono doesn’t have time for the family life he would be pretty good at if he didn’t have the rich kids to take care of and Seto. Seto is just. His entire deal is that he is a bag made out of daddy issues filled with lots and lots of boxes that are also filled with daddy issues and a bunch of issues he got from his birth family.

Imo there’s a lot of unplatonic tension and a dynamic with an endless amount of potential right there and aside from a couple Japanese doujinshi artists and maybe 2 or 3 friends I don’t trust anyone in this fandom to do it justice so I’m not even mad that it’s not one of the more popular ships bc I don’t wanna see the healthy uwu.

I mean, if I was married to Seto Kaiba for some reason and ruined my social life outside the relationship with him in the process so I felt I didn’t have anyone aside from him anymore and we drifted apart because of his issues and my issues and then there’s the whole thing with the public eye, too, and I was this gorgeous (probably day-drinking) rich lady whose job it was to run the KC’s PR department - a job that only got shittier and shittier over the years the weirder Seto’s stunts got, building a school right next to an active volcano being just one of the cherries on top...........

Ofc I’d turn to the only other person who can relate to how exhausting it is to clean up Seto’s mess again and again and again but still sticks with him anyway.

(Some ppl might argue “What about Mokuba?” and I want these ppl to know that Mokuba deserves better and in this storyline he knows that and studied abroad and traveled the world and now knows what life outside the Kaiba bubble looks like... Also he probably fucks Jounouchi)

Ok, so I actually watched that show a couple years ago but only got through the first two seasons and then was too lazy to figure out where to watch the rest (especially since it wasn’t clear at the time if it was cancelled or would be cancelled or not) and then kinda... forgot about it? Also I think I remember I was pretty annoyed by Will’s angst after a while.

I mean, it’s valid ofc.

His therapist/friend/whatever they were by that point was a manipulating cannibal and he had these blood-smeared antler nightmares and shit so I’m gonna cut him some slack here.

So, uh, my honest opinion............. I... guess it’s a ship that exists?

I mean, if I had the hots for one or both of them I might be able to get rly into it, but the sexiest thing on the show was the food (ignoring what it’s made of ofc. i guess.) and the rly fancy ties Hannibal always wore.

Oh my.... hmmmm.... ok, this is brutal honesty hour so I’m just gonna be brutally honest and say that I don’t care much about the ships of this show.

I’m okay with most of them like. They have their place in the narrative, I guess? So iirc I’m not squicked by any of them?

They’re very tropey, especially the ones among the teenagers, but that trope density with these kinda archetypes n stuff wasn’t that run-of-the-mill common and fucking everywhere to that degree back when the show came out so while I would probably at least be bored if not hella annoyed to get all of that shoved in my face nowadays... it’s fine with me in the context of NGE.

Hmmm what could I say about a specific ship....

Yo, what about Kaoru/Shinji.

Everyone loves Kaoru/Shinji after all.

I think it’s. Okay, I guess.

I mean, it’s cool that it exists, but I don’t really FEEL much about it tbh?

It does get a bit more substance and becomes more interesting i you throw yourself down the rabbit hole of fandom’s timeline speculations and their related essays on that tho, in which all the NGE canons are somewhat linked in a particular order bc Shinji reset everything a couple times in previous Third Impacts XD

In this theory, Kaoru is the only one who remembers all these timelines, which explains why he starts out as a kinda emotionally incompetent bratty douchebag in the manga and only learns a human emotion or two and something resembling compassion through Shinji, which explains why he’s in instant flirty mode when he sees him “again” in the anime(s) and seems to know exactly what Shinji is going through and needs to hear (and how to hurt him by giving/saying it to him before making him kill him XD’) there.

Like, in the context of that connected timelines theory, this pairing is pretty cool and I can really get behind it and could see myself getting emotionally invested if I spent more time on it and/or maybe were a little younger.

But outside of that context, judging it by just one of the canons at a time...

Heya ducky UwU ❤ and omg yeeeeeesss this one of my fave ships yeeesss, I actually mentioned this ship when I did some SpicyBBQ, as for Edge and Rus to work properly and healthy they need a third person, and Stretch is the perfect guy for that 

And also sorry for answering this so frikking late it’s been fucking months and I forgot about this one as I got so stuck xD

who’s the cuddler: It’s a tie between Rus and Stretch, though since Rus is one clingy hoe he might be winning tho his cuddles way too often turns sexual so they don’t count pfft, Edge is ofc very cuddly too but not to such extremes as the other two, but he do srs love to be squished between his two way taller boyfriends, its nice, unless Rus hasn’t showered in awhile bc then he will get kicked the fuck off because Edge do not like smelly ppl in his clean bed, much to the amusement of the other two pfft. 

who makes the bed: Edge, as he is one big clean freak and likes things to be in order, Stretch sometimes does it for him as he knows Edge likes it which Edge appreciates, but Edge do not allow Rus to make the bed as Edge do not want his shit on his fine sheets, tho Stretch and Rus are rubbing off of him a bit when it comes to not making the bed exactly everyday, which he complains about, but still Edge do make the bed most mornings. 

who wakes up first: Edge, as he got a very set schedule and will wake up at 6 am pretty much every day unless pulled back into bed grumbling but loving it, as he is one big af workaholic, though technically its Rus who wake sup first as he usually only sleep 1-2 hours a night, but after getting together with both Edge and Stretch he begins to sleep much more which he srs need, while Stretch is just unable to wake up like at all unless you like pinch him he is one deep af sleeper and alarms do not work on him. 

who has the weird taste in music: It’s kind of a tie between Rus and Stretch, Rus listens to metal and angsty stuff though it’s not really weird but what is weird is that he rly likes listening to asmr, while Stretch pretty much listens to anything and everything and then listens to the same song on repeat for weeks, doesn’t matter what it is as long as he likes the lyrics, the voice, the actual music he is all for it, Edge is the only like normal kind of ish, he listens to old rock and instrumental, especially instrumental with violins. 

who is more protective: Rus is, he is really fucking protective of the people he really grows to love and care for, but its not in a controlling protectiveness but it’s more in a “I am afraid to lose the only one’s who actually care to put up with a piece of shitty trash like me” and so on, and he easily grows jelly af which is something he needs to work on especially since neither Stretch or Edge will allow such behavior, like some jelly is fine but when it makes you do dumb shit then you need to stop.

Edge is a tiny bit protective, as when I hear the word protective I assume its in more of a bad overprotective way, but for Edge it’s more that he is forced to be more protective than he would like thanks to his status as the royal guard captain/ambassador etc, he got enemies and so in turn he knows people close to him might be used against him, and he will do his best to make sure it never happens. 

who sings in the shower: Stretch absolutely, he listens to the radio as he showers and sings loudly along with any songs he knows, Edge showers too quickly to even think about singing he is a very busy working boy, Rus rarely ever showers because he is nasty trash but when he do there is no singing.

tho showering together will make them all sing if u know what i mean uhuhuuhuhuuuuhuu ;>c

who cries during movies: Edge, he is  really weak for any romantic movies he is seriously weak to them, and so he will cry over them no matter how bad they are. Stretch only tears up when bad stuff happens to animals, while Rus just don’t cry at all. 

who spends the most while out shopping: Stretch, because he is a hoarder and can’t help but buy shit that catches his interests, no matter how useless or shitty it is as long as it catches his eye he will most likely buy it. Edge only buys stuff that is necessary, only sometimes buying things he really wants but happens rarely. While Rus just never have any cash at all as he spends the little he has on cigarettes etc, but when he actually gets a job and starts getting actual money he ends up barely spending them except on like I said earlier, cigarettes, though now also on food and maybe something he think the other two will enjoy, which Stretch and Edge also do bc gifts.  

who kisses more roughly: Rus no butts about it, he really likes it very rough so his kisses are of course usually very rough, and his sharp teeth don’t help either. Edge kiss a bit rough too but mostly because of his sharp teeth, but both of them can kiss softly af tho Rus just usually go rough first and it just depends on how things are gonna proceed if he keeps doing it.  

who is more dominate: It’s a tie between Rus and Edge, like Rus do love to be dominated af but he is also very dominate like even tho also not he is weird, while Edge usually ends up been more dominate by default but he too don’t mind been less so, all my boys are switches af ok, but when it comes to these 3 Rus and Edge are just a bit more dominate than Stretch, who just prefers to go with the flow, but it doesn’t mean he won’t be dominate to time to time too, it all depends on what they all feel like atm etc

my rating of the ship from 1-10: 10/10! It’s a really good ship in my opinion, like there is so many possibilities for drama to happen, for lots of hurt and comfort, for sweet soft stuff to happen, for some boys to heal, adds some spice to stuff too and I just love their overall dynamic, or at least mine tho have read others and they good yeah, that I can recall it’s been awhile since I read any xD but yeah I really like these 3 they just work, even tho Edge’s dislike and trouble with Rus at first is a big problem all 3 will have to work on to get stuff to work, the fact also that Edge is such a workaholic and need to srs take care of himself more, and the fact Rus is trash and has a habit of self sabotaging his own happiness as he consider that he don’t deserve it after the shit he done, and Stretch been overly helpful and chill and a bit unable to say no when ppl ask him for help etc so yeah them boys got it cut out for themselves ye xD

6 feet! he’s one tall boy. i like imagining him as the tallest of the group apart from maybe hayden. kai has several inches on damien too which is something he likes bullying him for

how do they tend to dress?

he’s like, a slightly more refined tech bro. kai is all flannel and button ups and sweaters, with the occasional blazer if he’s feeling fancy. he also owns more khaki trousers than should be considered healthy

do they like how they look?

kai is pretty good at acting like he thinks he’s hot stuff (he’s such a fucking leo), but he’s actually kind of insecure about how he looks, esp his skin. he’s dealt with eczema all his life so he’s very self-conscious of how his skin looks, and in general it’s just a pretty painful condition to live with. recently he’s taken steps to being more genuinely comfortable with his appearance, and his partners’ encouragement has definitely helped

are they an only child or do they have any siblings?

he has a younger sister named naomi who he’s very close with! they’re both adopted and have a weird, distant relationship with their families, but they’re very close to each other and talk every day, even though naomi lives way out on the west coast

he’s a…….person who enjoys mornings, but hates waking up early, and has a terrible sleep schedule, so who knows at this point

kai has a lot of shows and films he means to watch but always ends up dropping an hour in, and if he does come back to any one show or movie it’s usually a comedy. he also has a big soft spot for animation!! he wanted to become an animator in college and still dabbles in it as a freelancer, though it’s not his main specialisation. him and hayden have cartoon nights, where they drown themselves in blankets and snacks and kai shows him his favourite shows and movies from now & from when he was a kid to give hayden a taste of his childhood

kai’s never been one to shy away from showcasing his talents if he feels he deserves the spotlight, so none of his talents are really hidden per se. a lot of ppl don’t know that he’s a pretty good dancer though, mainly bc he doesn’t get a lot of opportunities to show off lol

oof not to be corny but….being alone. it drives him crazy to be by himself for longer than a few hours. he’s also suuuper protective of his loved ones and is terrified of losing them, esp during the whole eros thing, and that anxiety never really goes away

idk if that even counts since i already mentioned it but he loves cartoons. and anime! he likes anime.. a Lot, and is very embarrassed about it

to find out that your cholesterol is a little out of whack

which is super fun considering your dad’s side of the family is rife with heart disease and your dad had two fucking heart attacks 

and another uncle had a heart attack when he was really young

it’s like.... like look. 

i really don’t eat that poorly. i eat veggies. i eat lean meats most of the time. i eat potatoes and shit. 

but the fucking PROBLEM is that i have fucking. dietary issues. 

like there are just foods that i CAN’T. EAT. i’m allergic to a RIDICULOUS number of vegetables--ones that i like, too. broccoli and carrots? allergic. salads? my overwhelming fear of raw vegetables prevents me from eating them. tomatoes? too much can trigger my acid reflux. 

i’ll eat hummus or sandwiches with veggies. 

but like my go-to is cheese-based foods and like. eggs. 

why?

BECAUSE THEY’RE THE ONLY FOODS THAT ARE EASY, RELIABLE, TASTE GOOD, AND WON’T MAKE ME FEEL SICK FOR 10 HOURS STRAIGHT FOR NO GODDAMN FUCKING REASON

i also didn’t get my culture back so i’m left completely in the dark about how anything is doing in my pelvic region

and my back and stomach organs have just been giving me random pains, i presume bc i’ve been laying in my bed so much and everything is out of whack? but who knows i could just straight up be dying and no one would fucking know

this isn’t fair

and i’m looking at all this grad school stuff now and i have so much to do in so little time and i should’ve started earlier and i asked my boss for a letter of rec and that was SO STUPID she HATES grad school esp for english and doesn’t rec that ANYBODY do it so what the fuck am i even getting myself into and FOR WHAT? to enter a job market that’s competitive and leaves ppl living in their cars? and then i’m just gonna have the worst cholesterol and have a heart attack and--

i’m stopping myself bc i’m trying to not catastrophize. but part of that is still true. that last bit isn’t necessarily. 

i don’t eat excessively... i eat health grains. eggs. protein. veggies when i can, when they won’t kill me. pasta. i need more greens but i have no viable way of obtaining them.

my good cholesterol is a little low and she recs eating more of the healthy fats. 

guess what happens to me when i do that?

acid reflux, nausea, shitting myself. for days. after eating just ONE THING.

i have to moderate how many peanuts i eat in a day so that i don’t fucking end up on the toilet for 10 hours writhing in nausea and pain.

okay SO. the date is somehow in italy even though he lives in france don’t question it. it’s a two part affair. the first part is going to the beach or into the city or something nice. like just spending the afternoon together. brose gets to try on clothes that him feel good. there’s lots of sun involved. after an idyllic afternoon spent together exploring and sunbathing and holding hands and lots of pda brose and date arrive at a nice restaurant that’s been pre-approved by him. they are seated somewhere quiet. there’s candles on the table and nice music playing. throughout the first course they make light conversation, which gets heavier as they get to the main course. they talk about the future. brose says he wants 90 kids and his date agrees. over dessert (tiramisu or s/t stereotypical) and wine brose’s date admits they love him and want to be with him forever and he cries and it’s very romantic. and then they go home and bang and brose looks at himself in the mirror the whole time because he’s vain :D

this may be the cabin fever talking, but now, after like seven weeks, i’ve decided i have one of the lowest opinions of her out of anyone on the trip. easily one of the most condescending, self-absorbed, closed-minded, and confusing people i’ve yet to meet in my lifetime. really. here are some of the reasons why i believe she’s such a terrible person: 

1) she has a never ending supply of energy. ok...i don’t actually hate her because of this, but it confuses me how she has all that energy every day. whenever i wanna go somewhere by myself, she always invites herself to tag along, but i don’t ever wanna say no because she doesn’t mean anything bad by it. i’ve started going out less with friends because of the possibility she might be there. 

2) all she eats is fucking buckwheat, lentils, and vegetables. and then rubs it in our faces, like she’s better than us because she eats a boring-ass diet. ok, basic white bitch, we get it you’re ~healthy~

3) she just acts like she’s better than all of us about 95% of the time. there are so many examples of this that i’m gonna try and give a couple examples. -she thinks she’s better than me because she doesn’t have to take the bus to work every day. listen bitch, not all of us can walk to work like you can. some of us actually have 1 1/2 hr commutes every day GOING to work... -she thinks she’s better than a lot of us because she doesn’t eat out a lot and still has a bunch of money on her stipend card. while i applaud her for her budgeting skills, she doesn’t have to rub it in our faces. -she once told my friend that “anyone on this program who’s over 20 years old couldn’t get a real job in the states this summer” ORRR maaaybe i already HAD a job...AND an internship...LAST SUMMER. and, you know, wanted to come back to israel for something meaningful. 

4) she doesn’t like Asian food...or busses...or keys (that’s right, she doesn’t like keys). she is always the last one out of our apartment every morning and NEVER locks the door. just because she claims to be a “trusting person” doesn’t mean the three of us are. lock the mother fucking door, you shit stain. 

5) she always feels like she needs to be right. even if she doesn’t know wtf she’s talking about. and she does so in a way where she sounds incredibly condescending. basically, she’s a know-it-all. example: my roomie Eden was talking about how they were scared they couldn’t afford college classes this upcoming semester and that their home life is gonna be messed up once they get home because they work 4 jobs regularly. THIS BITCH MAYA responds by saying “maybe if you didn’t eat out so much you could afford more things”............................who says Eden eats out all the time in the states? when they have stipend money that needs to be spent (that isn’t even our own money to begin with), who tf cares how much they eat out when on this program??? the point of the conversation went over Maya’s head. also, Maya just doesn’t seem to understand the concept of mental illness. Eden has a lot of demons and severe mental illness and Maya just acts in poor taste a lot of times when it’s the topic of conversation. 

6) she’s hypocritical. she always bitches about me leaving my pots to soak in the sink but doesn’t have the decency to ACTUALLY clean the apartment like...come on

7) finally, she bitches and complains if she doesn’t get her way or if people disagree with her. prime example: a group of us were in eilat for the weekend and she wanted to be out of the airbnb by 9:30-10 am even though check out wasn’t until 11 am. when literally all of us said we would rather sleep in, she - i kid you not - GROWLED. like a fucking dog. like the little bitch she is.  another example: a group of us wanted to go eat at an asian restaurant. she joined us knowing full well she doesn’t like asian food, yet STILL tried to convince everybody to change their minds. i would’ve been fine if some ppl went with her to eat somewhere else, but EVERYBODY changing their mind just for her? no thanks. lemme eat my sushi and egg rolls in P E A C E 

aaand there you go everybody. hopefully i finally lived up to my username and gave y’all a little taste of what i’ve been dealing with the last couple weeks.

i’m on the fence with a liquid diet but i do know i wanna start eating much more “healthier” again because a lot of healthier foods tend to be way more tolerable enough for me to eat. i used to eat avocado toast for breakfast when i was in highschool along with oatmeal and those were the only things i would eat over and over again and quickly because the tastes of those foods are not extremely overwhelming, even visually actually. compared to other foods, it can take me hours to finish if im not near someone and i have to bare with the sensory overwhelm
