Tomino- Mobile Suit Gundam Episodes 1, 2, 8; Lamarre- Introduction My reactions immediately after the episode:
Post episode 1: The characters' eyes instantly remind me of that Korean YouTube video "Guess who?". I can't remember the creator, but the way the eyes have those reflection orbs in a solid color eyes (no pupils). I did not have subtitles, but looking at the fandom's wiki, I am displeased to find out the female lead's real name is not a playful nickname, insult name, or a name to play with words; It's Fraw Bow but I thought it said "frow brow" or "frow bow" which sounds awfully loke "frown brow" to imply her nagging attitude. Something inside me can't help but cringe when she cried and the main character and male lead has to literally slap her out of her trauma. Like, okay man, if you had your parents and grandparents killed in front of you, just a nice little b**ch slap is what you need. Overall, nice way to introduce the characters and their background. Although the enemies' reason for war sounds too similar to America's (actually any colony's) war for independence. The narrator said people were shocked, but it was not like America did not have a lot of street fights and actual battles, too. Not to justify the violence and the need to make battle suits, but they put too much praise for Amoro to step up and fight at a young age. I should say, I would not be surprised if someone else had a different reaction.
Post episode 2: So, another small detail I noticed is the shape or rather the rendition of noses. The shading underneath the nostrils is like a shading in manga or in comics. As these are animated faces, the details are simple, and the younger characters have a rounder face. Also, I don't think they blink, which is funny considering how detailed their eyes are. An important thing I noticed: a side character, wiki calls "Kai", runs back to the White Base by himself. Sayla criticizes him for being a "coward". While I know there must be more to the story, I can't help but wonder is it truly a cowardly move to escape with your life or a clever strategy to survive. At the same time, this is the first time we also meet Sayla, so perhaps it speaks more about her own character than Kai's.
Post episode 8; We were not assigned episodes 3-7, so my reaction may lack context. Spoilers permitted at your own expense: Kai in the span of 4 episodes became part of the military. I think it's because of the low supply of personnel as mentioned in episode 2. Also, you notice how his eyes are more of the "cunning" type to imply he is like Amaro's foil. In the WWI/WWII times, Kai would be the opposite of the ideal soldier, but during this episode he comes out as someone who is brave. I hope he does get some character development (when he goes into puberty and/or trauma, his eye shape might change). Also, Char calling Garma as someone who is too privileged makes fun of past Japanese leaderships during WWII.
These episodes altogether reflect the post-WWII sentiments Japan had. While weapons of unsurmountable force can and does tip the balance of a stalemate in their favor, the sheer power of these weapons compare to the power the atomic bomb had when it was first used. Japan recognized that if Japan ever came up with a power that outranks even Western weapons, they will use it for good because they were once the victims of a power that was used for the greater good...of America. While some may see this as humiliation, and they would not be wrong to frustrated veterans and civilians, it is also important to see this as equally humbling as humility for the silenced and hidden.

The animation and art style reminds me of the first Pokemon anime. While fictional creatures and fictional mechs are not alike at all, the animation reminds me of stopmotion, smooth but patterned to make a fluid-like movement.
also yesterday my birthday. this anime older than my parents.

The Way To A Man's Heart - Chapter 2

Chapter 2
The hotel was fancier than Natsu remembered from their previous visit with Happy, Erza and Lucy, but he wasn’t all that concerned about it. Stuff like that had never mattered to him. He was much more worried about the line of people waiting to get into the restaurant. He’d been about to complain about it, but he never got the chance.
“Relax, Pyro. We have a reservation, remember?”
Right. And he was thankful for that. Outside of the unexpected train ride, this dinner had been a godsend. The perfect solution to what had been shaping up to be an uncomfortable situation.
Natsu loved his guildmates; they were his nakama after all, but they were too damn nosy for their own good. It was bad enough that they’d already made Gray’s life miserable by encouraging Juvia’s antics despite his constant rejections, but now it seemed they’d set their sights on him.
He knew he should have expected it, but he’d hoped that they would have interpreted his lack of romantic interest in Lucy for what it was. Instead, they’d decided he was oblivious, and encouraged her as well.
Natsu loved Lucy dearly. He just wasn’t in love with her, but he didn’t want to hurt her by telling her that. He’d kind of hoped she’d get bored by his lack of response and move on to someone else. Someone like Loke, who was clearly crazy about her. But that hadn’t happened yet, and even worse, he’d overheard Mira telling Cana that Lucy planned to make her move that night.
He’d jumped at the chance to escape the guild. A night full of food and drink was just what he’d been in the mood for, and the prospect of hanging out with Gray intrigued him.
He followed Gray to a podium, where a hostess greeted them. That already was a big change from the places they usually ate. The hostess verified their reservation and handed them off to a server, who led them down a dimly lit hallway and into a small room.
“Your table isn’t ready yet, but this is our lounge,” she announced with a smile. “It’s not as noisy as our main bar, and you can still enjoy a drink while you wait.”
She gestured towards the lounge’s bar area and left. Music played softly on the room’s music lacrimas, and along with the usual bar stools there were several sofas that looked more expensive than Natsu’s house, contents included. He decided the bar stools were probably safer.
The lounge had large windows, giving them a splendid view of the ocean.
“Oh wow, this is great!” he exclaimed, watching the people on the beach enjoy the warmth and beauty of the setting sun. Everyone looked like they were having so much fun, and there had been so many stalls to check out. He longed to go join them.
When was the last time they’d been able to do anything fun?
“Yeah,” Gray agreed. “Maybe we can check it out after we eat? Mavis knows I won’t be able to get you back on the train after that.”
Natsu hated to admit it, but Gray probably had a point. They took their seats, and the bartender walked over to them.
“Can I interest you in a drink?” she asked politely. “Yeah.” Gray pored over the wine and cocktail menu he received. “Could we get two of those magic drinks?” “Excellent choice, Sir. Two Magic Wonders coming right up.”
Natsu’s stomach rumbled as the smell of food wafted over to them, causing Gray to roll his eyes at him. Gray got the bartender’s attention again and added, “Can we get an order of your spiciest appetizer too?”
“Sure thing.” The bartender put their order in and continued to mix drink orders.
Gray got up and patted Natsu's shoulder, “There, don’t say I never did anything for you.”
“Hey, where you going?”
“To take a leak.”
He walked off and Natsu watched him go, amused to notice his friend had kept his shirt on for once. It felt almost unnatural. His eyes lingered briefly on Gray’s broad shoulders, traveling down his back, and before he even knew what he was doing, he found himself staring at Gray’s ass and thinking about how nice it was.
“Oh, and try not to destroy the place while I’m gone.”
Gray turned around then, a teasing smile on his face which turned into a wink when he noticed Natsu’s eyes on him.
“What’s that supposed to mean?!” Natsu spluttered, his cheeks red with indignation, or at least that’s what he told himself, refusing to acknowledge for the moment that his best friend had caught him checking him out. Gray’s parting chuckle irritated him even more.
Stupid Ice Princess. Like he couldn’t be left alone for five minutes without getting into trouble. What did Gray think he was, a Vulcan in a pottery shop?
But seriously, what in the world had possessed him to do that?
It had to be Juvia. He cursed her for his sudden awareness. Ever since she’d joined the guild it had been Gray-sama this and Gray-sama that, until the guy’s name lingered in the air, working its way into Natsu’s brain like some kind of annoying hypnotic suggestion he couldn’t escape.
Yeah, that had to be it.
He went back to staring out the window while he waited for Gray to return.
0-0
Gray entered the restaurant’s bathroom, closing the door behind him quietly and checking the stalls to make sure they were empty before he allowed himself to react.
“Yes!” He pumped his fists in the air in celebration, smiling so widely he barely recognized himself in the mirror.
He had a chance! Natsu had been checking him out, and that had never happened before. At least, not that he’d ever noticed.
Feeling more confident that this plan might actually get him somewhere, Gray did his business, his head up in the clouds, filled with possible dream scenarios about how the evening could go.
You've got a little something there. Oh, it's me! Nah, too corny.
That sunset looks beautiful, doesn’t it? Not nearly as beautiful as you, though. Ugh too sappy.
There had to be some smooth move he could make, something not too in-your-face yet still obvious enough even the Flame Brain would get it.
Well, whatever. He had Natsu all to himself tonight, with an enjoyable meal ahead of them and the beach to look forward to after that. He'd think of something. For now, he’d start small. Maybe he’d offer a compliment. Everyone liked those. Right?
Gray washed his hands, and after giving himself one last pep talk, he headed back to the bar. As he walked, he tried to remember a joke Loke had told him earlier. It had been a little crass, but he was sure Natsu would find it funny. Gray could almost hear Natsu’s laughter ringing in the air.
Yeah, just like that.
It took him a second to realize he hadn’t imagined it. As he got closer to the lounge, he could hear Natsu’s laughter loud and clear, and Gray thought it was the best sound in the world. A smile spread across his face, only to be wiped off immediately at the sight that greeted him at the bar.
More specifically, at the sight of the barstool he’d left behind, which was now occupied by none other than Sting Fucking Ew-cliffe.
He’d only been gone for a few minutes. Where had Sting even come from?!
Gray clenched his fists, fighting off the urge to grab the Sabertooth Master by the collar of his shirt and pull him out of his seat. But as much as he’d like to do something like that, he knew it was a bad idea. If he was a jerk, it would piss Natsu off and that would be the end of their evening.
Instead, he plastered a smile on his face and approached the two dragon slayers.
“What’s so funny?”
“Oh, hey, you’re back,” Natsu said as his laughter died down. “Sting told me a joke.”
Sting offered Gray a half wave, looking unexcited to see him. The feeling was entirely mutual.
“Well, it was nice of you to stop by to say hello but don’t let us keep you.”
“Me? Nah, I’ve got time to spare. Our table isn’t ready either.” Sting casually rested his arm on the bar and turned to Natsu, “I’m surprised to see you guys here.”
Great. This was going to be awhile. Gray decided he might as well sit down and begrudgingly claimed the vacant stool on Natsu's other side.
“Our table?” He looked around, trying to spot anyone he might recognize from Sabertooth. “I don’t see anyone else here. Did you get stood up?” “Of course not! He’s just late,” Sting said, sounding pretty sure of himself even as his legs bounced on the edge of the stool and his eyes darted in the direction of the hallway they'd come in from.
“Stood up? So you’re on a date?” Natsu asked, pouting in disappointment and giving Gray a mini heart attack for a second until he added, “I thought maybe Rogue would join you.” Sting promptly stilled, staring at Natsu and blinking rapidly. “Uhm... Rogue is my date.”
Natsu laughed heartily, “Good one, but seriously, is it anyone we know?”
Gray winced, almost feeling sorry for the guy. Definitely not what you wanted to hear, especially not from someone you looked up to. With any luck, Rogue would get there before Natsu’s obliviousness destroyed Sting’s confidence any further. Although, he had to admit that would be fun to watch, too.
“Why wouldn’t it be Rogue? I mean, you and uhm-” Sting looked over at Gray, eyes narrowing in concentration and fingers snapping before he shrugged his shoulders- “him don’t strike me as dating either, but here you are.”
“Well, but aren’t you the Twin Dragons? I thought you guys were brothers.”
Brothers?!
How the hell could Natsu think that? Sure they were called the Twin Dragons, but they looked nothing alike. They even had different last names, for fuck’s sake.
Gray could only stare at him in amazement. He was in love with an idiot. Might as well say he was moronsexual.
Sting spoke up before Gray could call Natsu out.
“That’s just our team name, stupid. Do you really think I’d date my brother?”
“Do you really think Gray would ask me out on a date?” It started out as a chortle, but Natsu soon burst into a fit of uncontrollable laughter.
Gray no longer thought it was the best sound ever.
“Why wouldn’t he? And I mean, look at this place-” Sting gestured at the fancy decor and the expensive furniture in the lounge- “It doesn’t exactly scream just friends, does it?”
Natsu shrugged, a faint smile still playing on his lips. "Nope, that’s not what happened here. I just overheard Gray talking about having a reservation at an all you can eat restaurant as part of a job reward and invited myself along."
It seemed his and Loke’s plan had worked a little too well. Gray desperately wanted to ask Natsu what he would have said if he had asked him out, but he wasn’t about to do that in front of Sting.
“You got a reservation as a reward? Man, I wish I’d seen that job.” Sting looked at Gray, eyes wide in disbelief. “I had to make one 3 weeks in advance!”
3 Weeks?!
Gray had no idea this place was that popular, and he wondered what strings Loke had pulled to get the last minute reservation. And more importantly, what he would ask for in return. He’d better make the most of it.
“Do you think Rogue will like it? It's our first date, so I wanted to impress him.” Sting looked around the lounge, suddenly eyeing the place with a look of dread.
“Um... sure,” Natsu said, “It has an awesome view of the beach and, you know, there’s food.”
“You’ve just described every restaurant in Akane,” Gray pointed out. Then again, he was pretty sure with restaurants, Natsu didn’t pay attention to anything outside of the food.
Natsu shrugged. “Where are our appetizers and drinks, anyway? Shouldn’t they be here by now?”
Gray silently agreed. He was hungry, and he’d really like for their date to start, minus the interloper.
“What about me? Do I look okay?” Sting stood up and turned around, eyes wide as he awaited their judgment.
“There’s something different about you. What is it?” Natsu muttered, tapping his chin with his finger as he studied Sting.
“Well, for one, he’s wearing an actual shirt.” Gray said with a frustrated sigh. This was not how he had envisioned their date going. What was it going to take to get rid of this guy?
Actually…
“You look fine, dude. Might have overdone it a bit on the cologne, though.”
“He’s not the only one.” Natsu scrunched up his nose. “You both smell like one of the Trimens.”
Gray bit back a retort, but Sting went into a panic, grabbing a napkin from the bar and scrubbing his neck. “Fuck, I knew it was too much. Does this help any? It doesn't, does it? I should clean it off.”
He bolted out of the lounge, dodging a few other guests who were being guided to their table, and shouting a “be right back” over his shoulder. Just as Gray had hoped he would.
“Take all the time you need,” Gray called out after him cheerfully, reclaiming his original seat because… well, he’d had it first.
“Well, that was something.” He said, glossing over that minor act of pettiness. “Didn’t think we’d bump into anyone we knew.”
“Hey, you think they'd be down for a fight later?” Nasu asked, punching his left fist into the palm of his right hand.
“Of course not. They’re on a date, moron. Do you really think they’d want to do something like that?”
“I would.”
“On a date?” Gray challenged, although he wasn’t sure why he was surprised. This was Natsu, after all.
“Yeah, why not? Aren’t you supposed to have fun on dates?”
Gray couldn’t really argue with that, and fighting with Natsu was always fun. He was about to suggest they spar later when he spotted the bartender coming their way.
“Two Magic Wonders, and some Firecracker Shrimp to whet your appetite,” she announced, arriving with their drinks and appetizer and setting them down before them. “Apologies for the long wait, we're fully booked tonight so we're a little backed up.”
Finally!
“I think they’re broken,” Natsu complained, examining the drinks with slight disappointment, “they just look like two glasses of plain water.”
Gray had to give him that one. This wasn’t what he’d expected from the so-called magically infused cocktails either.
“The spell is still unfinished,” the bartender explained. “You need to wrap your hand around the cup and focus some of your magic energy into it. It doesn’t need much-”
Gray could tell Natsu had stopped listening. Before she'd finished her sentence, he'd already grabbed the cup in his hand and set it on fire.
“Natsu!”
"Sir!"
He ignored the protests from both Gray and the bartender, keeping his attention on the glass, which had begun to shake in his hand. The liquid bubbled and turned bright red, and then it shot up like a failed potion, right into Natsu's face.
“You idiot! Do you ever think?!”
So much for not insulting him.
“Geez, relax, will ya? A little thing like that isn’t gonna hurt me,” Natsu pointed out, evaporating the liquid easily, as Gray had seen him do so many times. The bartender breathed an audible sigh of relief, wiping the remaining spillage from Natsu's drink off the bar with a cleaning rag. “I’ll be right back with another drink,” she assured them before moving to another section of the bar, where she restarted the mixing process.
“You’re still an idiot,” Gray grumbled, making Natsu laugh in response.
“Well, you know what they say, it takes one to know one.”
Gray opened his mouth to answer, but Natsu quickly changed the subject.
“Why don’t you try it then?”
“Gladly.”
Gray focused a small amount of magic on his hand and wrapped the glass in a thin layer of ice. As soon as he did so, bubbles sprouted from the bottom, rising to the surface and forming a vortex that spun until the liquid had changed color from clear to the vibrant blue of glacier ice. Vapor rose from the liquid’s surface and transformed into small snowflakes that gently floated back down into the drink.
“That’s so dainty. Precisely what I’d expect from an Ice Princess,” Natsu snickered. “I bet mine’s gonna be way cooler.”
“I just hope the restaurant’s still in one piece by the time you’re done.”
Gray took a small sip, swishing the contents around in his mouth and closing his eyes.
The liquid was cold, so much so that it sent a small but welcome shiver up his spine. Hints of chocolate and peppermint danced on his tongue, reminding him of when he’d lived with Ur and Lyon.
Their training had been intense, but on days when she’d been pleased with their progress, Ur had made him and Lyon hot cocoa that tasted much like this. She had made them responsible for crushing the candy mints, and they would bicker about the best way to do it as Ur laughed at them from behind the stove. He could almost picture it, and rather than cause him the usual grief, the memory made him smile.
He opened his eyes to find Natsu watching in rapt fascination, his curiosity just about bursting out of him.
“Well? What did it taste like?”
Gray didn’t answer right away, still caught up in his memories. It took him a while to even register that Natsu was staring at him, focusing on his lips as if he’d never seen them before.
Gray thought of how to describe it, and suddenly he knew. “It tastes like winter.”
And just like that, Natsu snapped out of his trance, bouncing in his seat with excitement. “Ooh, me! I want to try winter!” Gray covered his drink with his hand, fixing Natsu with a glare that screamed at him to back off.
“Come on, don’t be so stingy! I don’t have a drink.”
“And whose fault is that? Besides, I don’t know where your mouth has been. No way I want that in my drink!”
Natsu pouted, but soon mischief crept into his eyes. Before Gray could consider what that could mean, Natsu had already grabbed his hand. Gray’s heart beat faster, not sure where Natsu was going with this, but excited just the same. Natsu’s tongue darted out, licking a stripe across the palm of Gray’s hand while maintaining eye contact.
Holy shit!
“Now you do,” Natsu grinned, looking quite pleased with himself even as Gray struggled to come up with an appropriate reaction. He took advantage of that, grabbing Gray’s glass and taking a sip.
“What do you know! Your magic actually tastes good, kind of like peppermint hot chocolate.”
Gray looked away, not wanting Natsu to see just how much his little stunt had affected him.
“So, uh, what were you thinking about? I don’t think I’ve ever seen you smile like that before.”
“My drink tasted like the hot cocoa Ur used to make for us,” Gray said, relieved to be back on more comfortable ground.. “I hadn’t thought about that in a long time.”
“Why didn’t you just say that, you dumbass? I wouldn’t have pushed.”
“Yeah, you would have.” Gray chuckled.
Natsu tried to deny it, but he must’ve known it was a stretch, so he laughed along with Gray. “Okay, yeah. I would have.” He grabbed a Firecracker Shrimp and chewed on it. And for the second time since they’d arrived, Gray caught him staring out the window. “Another Magic Wonder,” the bartender returned with Natsu's drink. She'd also brought a fire extinguisher, and was trying, but failing, to hide it subtly under the bar.
If Natsu had noticed, he didn't seem to be bothered by it, focusing only on the glass in front of him.
“Don't overdo it this time,” Gray reminded him.
Natsu furrowed his brow in concentration, coating his glass in a small flame and anxiously watching the liquid change color again. It slowly turned that same intense red from before. Instead of the vapor from Gray’s drink, there was a plume of smoke that transformed into a bright flame that remained lit.
He eyed it for exactly one second before drinking all of it down in one gulp.
Gray had expected Natsu to react in some over the top manner. To yell, or go on about how his drink was superior, just like his magic, but there was only silence. That wasn’t exactly true, though. Now that he was paying more attention, Gray could see that Natsu’s eyes were teary.
“Natsu?” Gray put a hand on his arm, worried by the uncharacteristic change. “What’s happening?”
“I’m fine, it’s just- it tasted like Igneel’s fire,” Natsu sniffled, hugging the cup to his chest with reverence. “It’s been so long since I last tasted it and now it’s all gone.”
Oh no! Natsu looked like he was ready to cry. That wasn’t supposed to happen on a date! Gray panicked, not knowing what to do or say to make Natsu feel better. He looked at his drink, still sitting on the bar, and considered offering it to him.
Idiot! He won’t want your stupid drink after tasting Ignel’s fire. Oh, of course! How dense could he be? He could order him another one.
“Don't worry, I’ll get you another one.”
Gray scrambled out of his seat after glimpsing the bartender serving a customer at the other end of the bar.
“I’ll be right back,” he called over his shoulder, determined to fix this slight glitch in his plans.
He waited as patiently as he was able for her to finish.
“I need another Magic Wonder.”
“Sure, I’ll put in an order, but it’s going to take a while. We’re very backed up.”
“Isn't there something I can do to speed it up?” He thought of the jewels in his pocket. “I can pay extra if that helps.”
“Sir, I already-”
“Please? This can literally make or destroy my night.”
The bartender glanced over at Natsu, who still looked despondent, hugging the empty glass to his chest. Her expression softened slightly. “Alright, I’ll do it just this once. Stay right there.”
Gray nodded, tapping his fingers on the bar as he waited. A couple sat next to him blocking his view of Natsu but he dared not move, worried the bartender might decide to give the drink to someone else.
As soon as she returned with his order, Gray turned around, almost dropping the drink he'd shamelessly begged for when he saw his bar stool once again occupied by someone who wasn't him. Any relief he might have felt that it wasn't Sting this time was overshadowed by dismay at seeing Rogue talking to Natsu, leaning in ever so slightly and nodding in sympathy.
Oh, come on!
He all but stomped his way back over, still careful not to spill any of the drink, knowing he wouldn’t be able to get another for quite a while.
“You’re in my seat,” Gray informed Rogue, attempting to keep the annoyance out of his voice.
“Oh, sorry. I didn’t know.” Rogue got up and moved to stand on the other side of Natsu.
“Here you go,” Gray said, placing the fresh drink in front of Natsu before reclaiming his seat.
He watched as Natsu put the glass he had been holding on the bar and stared at the new drink with something akin to awe. He cupped his hand around it and let out the barest flicker of magic to complete the spell.
“Are you okay?” Gray asked worriedly, not used to seeing Natsu act this way.
“Yeah, I just don’t want to waste any of it.”
The way he said that made Gray feel like he was intruding, so he turned his attention to Rogue, who still stood peering into the dim corners of the lounge.
“You’re looking for Sting, right? He’s in the bathroom,” Gray informed him, frowning as he realized the Sabertooth Master had been gone for quite some time. “Come to think of it, he’s been in there a while.”
Rogue looked heavenward and sighed. “Great. I hope he's not munching on the paper towels again.”
“Seriously? That’s disgusting!” Gray pursed his lips in distaste.
“Meh, he’s eaten worse things.” Rogue shrugged, taking a seat next to Natsu.
To Gray’s slight surprise, he in no way looked like he was about to go on a first date. As far as Gray could tell, Rogue looked just about the same as he always did, contrary to Sting, who had obviously dolled himself up for the occasion like a teenage girl.
Gray leaned back so he could see past Natsu and study the shadow dragon slayer better, wondering if he was about to deal with another nervous wreck. But Rogue showed no signs of being anxious. If anything, he looked tired and frazzled, which Gray guessed made sense. The guy was late, probably just rolled off a train.
“Is something wrong? Was this your seat too?” Rogue frowned at him, realizing he was under scrutiny.
“Huh? Oh, no. I’m just surprised. The way Sting was talking earlier I thought you’d be more into this,” Gray said, turning his attention back to Natsu.
He seemed to have calmed down, although he appeared to be in deep thought while staring at his drink. Gray supposed there was a first time for everything. He’d give him a few more minutes to snap out of it. It’s not like they could get anywhere until they were either called to their table or Sting got out of the damn bathroom.
“This? This what? You mean the restaurant?”
“He means Sting,” Natsu said, joining the conversation when Gray least expected it.
“What about Sting?” “If you don't like him, just tell him. He's your friend. You should be honest with him about how you feel.”
Rogue flinched so hard he almost slid off his seat. “I- What? What the hell are you talking about?”
Gray began to suspect that Rogue was as clueless as Natsu as to why he was there.
“Rogue! You made it!” Gray, Natsu and Rogue all turned towards Sting’s voice, which could somehow be heard over all the other noise. He walked toward them in quick steps and Gray brought his hand up to his mouth to cover up the laugh he couldn’t contain.
Sting’s shirt was covered in wet spots. His hair, which had been styled in perfectly gelled spikes, had flattened into bangs, and there was a long piece of toilet paper attached to one of his shoes.
He’d gone to wash off some cologne, but had returned looking like a survivor of some bizarre bathroom battle, and somehow he still reeked of cologne. But you wouldn't know it from his beaming smile.
Sting walked up to Rogue, reaching into his pocket and pulling out... something Gray couldn’t make out at first because he shoved it at Rogue with such speed that it became nothing but a blurry shape.
“Here, for you.” Sting said, placing what looked to be a small box into Rogue's hand.
“What’s this for?” Rogue said, breaking away from the mess that was Sting, to glance down at the box.
“Open it.”
Rogue slowly slid the elastic bow off and opened it. Whatever was inside caused him to jerk his head back toward Sting with wide eyes.
“Oh.”
“Do you like it?” Sting stared at Rogue in a way that Gray recognized, with a face full of hope and hearts in his eyes.
“I-I uh,” Rogue stuttered, looking back and forth rapidly between Sting, Gray, Natsu, and the lounge. “Give me a minute...”
“You know, I‘m thinking Rogue didn’t know this was a date.” Natsu whispered in Gray’s ear, which was to say he’d blurted it out in a voice loud enough to make his ears ring.
“You think?”
“Yeah, I do,” Natsu nodded, the obvious sarcasm flying straight over his head. “I kinda feel bad now. Maybe we should have told him.” Gray stiffened, Natsu’s words along with the advice he’d offered Rogue earlier echoed through his head. No matter how the thought caused his stomach to twist itself into knots, he knew he’d have to be honest about his intentions at some point. Natsu was his friend too, he deserved as much. “Is that true?” Sting’s shoulders slumped upon hearing the less than subtle conversation between them. “But I asked you and everything.” “Yes, I realize that now,” Rogue said, sounding a bit snappy, which Gray couldn’t blame him for. He gathered himself quickly, though, taking a deep breath and getting up from his seat. “Come-” he grabbed Sting’s hand and led him to a sofa that had just opened up when a couple was called to their table. Gray took another sip of his drink, mirroring Natsu, who he could tell was focusing his ears on the Twin Dragons’ conversation. Under any other circumstance, Gray wouldn’t give a damn about how that would unfold, but the possibility of having a heartbroken Sting join them for the rest of the night changed things a bit. He nudged Natsu, raising his eyebrows in silent question. Natsu didn’t answer, still listening, but if his expressions were anything to go by, it was not going well. Fuck. Please. This can’t be happening… Curiosity getting the best of him, Gray peeked over his shoulder. Sting looked positively dejected, and the visible part of Rogue's face looked no better. “Well, this is awkward.” Gray turned back to Natsu, not sure if he’d be able to watch that train wreck in his current situation. Would his night end like that, too? “Yeah,” Natsu sighed, but then he perked up and started laughing. “Actually, I think they’ll be fine.” “Oh-” Gray absently grabbed a shrimp and began eating- “Good for them.” “Uhm, Gray…” “Hmm?” Gray grabbed another and chewed lazily, not realizing that Natsu might’ve been trying to warn him until he felt his lips and tongue burning with the heat of a thousand suns. He swallowed what was still in his mouth in one go, sending the burn down his throat now as well, and broke out in a violent coughing fit. The blazing heat spread through his entire body fast, setting his skin on fire and causing sweat drops to form on his face. Whose stupid idea was it to get the spiciest appetizer?! Oh, right, that would be him. God bless his icy drink. He gulped it all down, only half hearing Natsu’s rambunctious laughter.
“Who the hell deemed this safe for consumption?” he gasped, fanning at himself in a sorry attempt to cool down.
“Someone who's not an Ice Princess like you,” Natsu snickered, holding out a shirt that looked awfully familiar.
Damn it! How did that happen?!
Gray grabbed his shirt and put it back on before anyone could complain, calling on his magic to help cool himself down.
Natsu shook his head, his eyes crinkling with amusement. “Pervert.”
“I can’t help it!”
“I know, Ice Block, I know.” Natsu finished the last of his drink and set it back down on the bar, his eyes straying back to the window for a full minute before peering back at Gray.
“Listen, I know this was a big part of your reward and everything, but do you mind if we take off?”
“You want to go back home?” Gray was crestfallen. He’d thought they were having a good time, outside of the unexpected drama.
“I didn’t say that, but it’s hard to sit still when I know that’s waiting for us,” Natsu said, pointing at the beach. “I’ll even pitch in since it’s my idea.”
Gray thought about it. This restaurant had been Loke’s idea and as far as he was concerned it had already served its purpose. If Natsu would rather go to the beach, then they’d do that. It was bound to be more fun. Plus, this way, if Natsu reacted badly to his confession, he wouldn’t have to worry about property damage.
As much.
“Yeah, we can do that.”
“Wow, that was easier than I thought. That shrimp too much for you?” Natsu taunted.
Gray ignored him, focusing on finding the bartender so he could close their tab. Luckily, she was heading towards him. He was just about to address her when a voice spoke up next to him. “Hey there! Can I get two of the Magic Something drinks?”
“Yes, of course,” the bartender assured Sting. She turned to Gray. “I believe your table should be ready any minute. Would you like anything else?”
“No, thank you. We actually won’t be needing that reservation after all.”
“Alright then, I’ll be back in a few minutes.”
“You’re leaving?” Rogue asked, appearing by Sting’s side. “But you haven’t even eaten yet.” “We passed a ton of food stalls on the way here,” Natsu said, already sounding excited by the prospect. “Besides, the food they serve here is too spicy for the Ice Princess.”
Gray glared, “Oy! That shrimp was the spiciest appetizer they had.”
Rogue rolled his eyes at the exchange, “You two sound like a married couple.”
"Well, you kinda look like one," Natsu laughed, pointing at the necklace Rogue was now wearing. A thin silver chain with a crystal pendant that was identical to the one dangling from Sting's ear.
"Oh, shut up," Rogue huffed, clutching the piece of jewelry as his cheeks turned a deeper shade of pink than Natsu's hair.
“I’m glad things worked out,” Gray said, mostly to be polite. He winced as he heard people scream in panic as they witnessed Natsu drying off Sting’s clothing with his fire. He could almost hear the bartender rushing to the extinguisher. Why didn’t the idiot ever think?
Yeah, going to the beach was probably for the best.
"Me too." Rogue eyed the spectacle warily. "Sorry you got dragged into that."
“Yeah, it was… something.”
“He means well.” Rogue smiled apologetically, but his eyes were soft with affection. "Oh. That reminds me, can you thank Natsu for me? He was right."
“Now there’s something you don’t hear every day.”
Rogue snorted into his hand, looking less tired than he had when he'd just arrived. "Alright. Get Natsu out of here before-"
Whatever Rogue said after that became inaudible when the screams increased and were almost immediately joined by the loud hiss of the fire extinguisher.
At a loss for words, Gray and Rogue watched the chaos of scattering guests, the bartender frantically trying to extinguish the fire, Sting inhaling the massive gust of white powder blasted at him, and a loudly cheering Natsu.
"... Just get him out of here."
“Good plan.”
Gray hurried over to the two dragon slayers, not about to give Rogue another second to reconsider his life choices. He grabbed Natsu by the arm and pulled him back towards their seats so he could pay for their tab.
“It’s on the house, please just go!” The bartender waved him away, looking like she was on the brink of having a complete meltdown.
“Thank you.” Gray took out his jewel pouch and placed a large tip on the bar, wanting to make up for some of what they had put her through.
Natsu, oblivious as ever, thanked her and waved blithely even as Gray dragged him out of the lounge.
They had almost reached the exit when Natsu shook off Gray’s arm.
“I can walk on my own, you know.”
“Oh, right. Sorry.”
They left the restaurant and walked through the lobby in silence until Natsu started giggling.
“The look on the bartender’s face when Sting ate that powder!”
Now that the restaurant was safely behind them, Gray couldn’t help but join in. Soon they were laughing so hard they had to hold on to each other to keep from falling down, earning them curious but mostly annoyed looks from the other patrons.

Just watched the episode and I’m going to have a lot of thoughts for you, most of them probably bordering on incoherence (LOL) so this is your last chance to nope on out of this post because I’m going to go ahead and put everything else behind a cut to save the eyes that do not want to see any  spoilers at all.  Unlike mine, that very much wanted to see but in a lot of cases?  Could not see shit, but I digress.
Shae’s stream of consciousness coming at you in 3-2-1.
First of all, can I saw how good it is to have my show back again?  Like, no.  I don’t quite have Season 5 levels of excitement about the new/last season, but it is definitely nice to have all these characters back.
So all these thoughts of mine.  Okay.  Bear with me because there be a whole lot of them, lol.
My immediate impression as the episode opened was WHOA.  Such a cool shot of Daryl with one light wing, one dark wing (representing the two sides to Daryl maybe--the man of honor versus the man he was raised to be, hmm?) looking out over some dark vista of something.  Seriously.  It’s dark.  My room is also dark at the moment and still I was squinting to see.  To make out what I’m “looking” at.  I really, really hope the rest of this season isn’t this hard to make out.
Is that a tank?  Kinda sorta a callback to Rick’s first episode?  If so, cool.  If not, well.  Us fans have always put way more thought into things.  For real.  Change my mind.
Holy intense eye contact, Batman!  Daryl Dixon has literally never looked at anyone--not BethusConLeah--in quite the same smoldering way as he looks at Carol.  It’s next level.  I don’t know why people be fooling themselves into thinking different.
Let’s see.  I can make out--besides Daryl, Maggie, and that face mask dude I already forgot the name of--Kelly, Magna, Jerry (who’s that with him?), and Carol.  Sorry.  My world, like Daryl’s, inevitably narrows to Carol.  She’s loking fierce and fine AF per usual.
Was that Rosita I noticed rewinding to relive Daryl eye-fucking Carol?
I’m guessing this is the army base they talked about in 10C.
That Walker perking up like “I smell food--pancakes and bacon and oohhhh” has me giggling inappropriately right off the bat.  WTF.
Look at all my fabulous ladies tiptoeing through that Walker minefield.  And Carol spotting that gun that might be useful right away.  Listen, if you don’t think her mind ain’t always ten steps ahead of everybody else’s, you’d be wrong.
So.  Are these Walkers just so old and feeble not even the call of fresh meat attracts them?  Because just tiptoeing through their midst without the knockoff Lady Gaga meatsuits or skin masks has never really worked before that I can remember.
I just want to see most of this season.  Is that really too much to ask?  Don’t X-Files and Game of Thrones us, Angela.  Please and thank you very fucking much.
Okay.  Is the one drop of blood thing making anybody else have 28 Days Later vibes?  Kinda?  Sorta?  No?  Just me?  Okay then.  Carry on.
Wait a minute, though.  How they be explaining how Daryl keeeps acquiring all these new tats all the time?  Hmm?  It’s like they just quit giving a shit about continuity in these latter seasons.
I mean.  Do Walkers sleep now?  LMAO.  What is this?  I guess they’re constantly evolving?
There’s my baby Lydia.  Love my smol bean.
Alright though.  I love to see the ladies of TWD kick some ass.  It’s very gratifying.  Gimps would never.  Thank you, Angela.
Clever, resourceful, calm and collected, quick thinking Carol to the rescue!  Seriously.  Her haters must be withering away inside with absolute envy.
Hey, ya’ll.  Remember when Carol was still mastering her sharpshooting skills at the Prison yard and shot at Rick’s feet?  Her little “sorry, sorry”?  LOL.  If Rick could only see her now.  Wait.  He already knew what so many of his stans refuse to acknowledge--Carol=ultimate survivor and true savior to the group many times over.
Maggie’s got herself a gun, too.  Go my badass girls.
Of course, Carol’s got everybody’s back.  Of fucking course, Daryl’s got hers even when everybody else seem frozen in some kind of awe or stupification or something.  Microcosm of the whole damn show right there.
Carol’s like “here’s your knives, love of my life.”
Eh.  Maybe that’s just me.
Nah.  She’s totally thinking it, too.
YAS!  YAS!  Norman Reedus and Melissa McBride with the top billing.  How very far my babies have come.
Listen.  I miss all the characters we’ve lost.  Absolutely.  But I love the ones that are still with us, that have been with us for so very long so hard.  Whether I love their stories or decisions or not.
Is that THE Alexandria sign?  That sign’s been through some shit.
DOG!  Daryl kneeling to embrace our Grimes babies has me all up in my feels.  And how cute is Dog getting all excited and making sure he’s the first one there to welcome back, Daddy?
Hershel is literally just as puppy dog cute as Glenn ever was.  Really some Grade A casting.
What did Maggie call Mr. T?  Ducky?  Dougie?  Sometimes with Maggie?  I really cannot tell.  Anyway.  He’s Mr. T. for me until I find out differently, probably through rewatching with close captioning, lol.
Maggie’s got more people.  So.  Some new redshirts to sacrifice for plot purposes.  I don’t know if I should bother learning their names or not.
I seem to remember Meridian being mentioned in one of the episode synopses.
Sophia’s hair tie around Carol’s neck will never fail to be an emotional throat punch.  My heart.
“They come at night and by the time you see them, you’re already dead.”  Welp.  Guess that means we ain’t seeing shit for at least this first third of the season, lol.  Very horror-eque though.
“You’re leaving to fight ghosts.”  Aaron, to Maggie.  So I see Aaron’s the type to get the hell outta Dodge when the Boogeyman comes calling, hahaha.  Least he was.  In the old world.
Rosita’s pissed off expression at Gabe’s decision to volunteer for the so-called suicide mission gives me life.
My baby Carol is tired AF of suicide missions.  You can tell.  Also?  Methinks she has something to prove to Daryl here.  Or at least feels like she does.
Dog with his little tactical vest.  I love it.
I guess I get why they had Carol and Rosita stay behind.  They had to more evenly split up the badassery to make things more fair and balanced, lol.
Okay.  So Negan’s definitely earned everybody’s disdain.  But they’re being woefully short-sighted by not at least hearing the dude out.  Isn’t he at least native to the area?
“That is God telling us to turn around.”  I’m actually on Negan’s side with this one, but Gabe answering him with “I’m pretty sure he would have run that past me first” has me howling with laughter.  Father Gabe has gone straight up savage in these last couple of seasons.  Rosita’s influence, perhaps?
I see what Angela is doing.  Trying to make Negan the voice of reason.  In this particular case?  It’s kind of working.  I’m still ultimately on Maggie’s side with this though BECAUSE GLENN.
Imagine showing up to work and unironically dressing like a storm trooper every day.  Excuse me while I LOL.
Even in the ZA, there’s bullshit paperwork.
“Pumpkin colored spacesuit.”  Good one, Ezekiel.
LOL forever.  I love Princess.
“Michonne.  Our Michonne shut people out of Alexandria for years.”  Timely reminder that choices aren’t always perfect.  Neither are people.
WTF is reprocessing?  Sounds ominous.  LMAO at Eugene’s “Okay.  We gotta go.”
What in the actual hell with all those bagged, squirming undead?  Creepy AF in that subway tunnel.
Should I just go ahead and call that the Easter bunny?  We’ve had some version of it pop up since Season 1.
Is it stubborn pride with Maggie or what?  Why go through with something when all signs point toward the wisdom of stopping?  You can argue that she’s acting similarly to Carol last season, but there’s a huge difference here folks.  Carol did her damndest to Lone Wolf that shit and minimize the danger to those she loved.  Maggie’s straight up enlisting those she “cares about” to carry out her mission of revenge or vengeance, what have you. Let’s see if she gets near the amount of hate for it.  Personally, I don’t blame her for her feelings one bit.  They are valid.  But her knowingly drawing the others into the game?  That’s my sticking point.  That’s how she and Carol differ, even if some people refuse to see or accept it.  Anyway.  Hopping right on off my soapbox.
“Why don’t you get up on your little tippy toes and try?”  Omigosh, I’d dying.  When I tell you I about passed out with laughter, I do not exaggerate.  I should hate Negan forever and I do.  Really.  But I adore JDM and he frequently makes me LOL.  He’s made Negan entertaining if not completely redeemable since Angela took over and more layered so I say kudos.
He has a point about Maggie playing dictator.  Damn you, show, for slanting the writing just that smidgen that makes Negan make sense over his victim.  I guess, though, it’s better this way.  Gives both characters more shades of gray.
“He’s a dick but he makes sense.”  I feel like this is Angela calling us all out when we dare to harbor any lasting resentment toward Negan for what he did to Glenn.
Speaking of--Negan.  You deserved Daryl’s punch to the mouth.  You just went a bridge too damn far.
“Keep pushing me, Negan.  Please.”  Warning shots fired, Asshole.  You better watch yourself around the Widow Rhee.
Have I mentioned how much I love Princess?  Her shipping the Commonwealth guards is killing me, lol.  I can’t wait ‘til she meets Carol and Daryl.  She’s going to have their number in two seconds flat.
I like Ezekiel and Princess as a duo.  I’m not saying romantically necessarily.  I just like them in scenes together because they’re fun.  There’s sort of a protective indulgence Ezekiel seems to telegraph whenever they’re in scenes together.  Like he’s like don’t hurt this one.  I don’t know.  For all these words I’ve written, I can’t quite find the ones to adequately describe what I mean.
The wall of the lost gives me such Battlestar Galactica feels.  What sad thoughts it inspires.
Eugene in that Commonwealth gear.  Omigosh, lol.  So did they just sneak up and take Princess’s little Commonwealth ship’s gear when they were sneaking off on their own to have a quickie?
Princess finding that note for Yumiko on the wall actually gave me chills.  Yeah.  I’m easy.  Just the suggestion of someone getting reunited with lost family gets me all up in my feels.  Yumiko saying “I have to stay”?  I felt that.
Oh no.  Dog ran off!  Somebody protect my favorite fictional puppy.  Of course, Daryl goes after him.  He’s always been the sweet one.  Merle said it.
Eh.  Negan taking Maggie’s hand at the end there would have smacked too much of Negan Sue and Maggie’s biggest plot of the season would have been prematurely dealt with so I get why they did what they did.  But c’mon.  It’s not really that big of a cliffhanger, is it?
Okay, so Angela calls those sleeping beauty Walkers “Lurkers” and I get it.  Apparently they’re a bigger deal in the comics, but I really don’t remember seeing them all that much on the actual show.  Somebody jog my memory.
Of fucking course, you can actually see what’s happening in the inside the episode clips.  I wish we could choose to view the episode with that lighting because some of us be blind.  And this time I mean in the more literal sense.  Not the figurative one.
Anyway.  I’m going to stop trying to write a novel for ya’ll and move on to better things.  Like maybe a nap.  Maybe some early dinner.  I don’t know.  I’m tired AF and need a little recharge.
Before I go, though?  Overall impression of the episode?  I liked it.  There were parts that I loved (all the ladies being badass, every second of Carol, Daryl reuniting with the Grimes babies and Dog, all things Princess, some of Negan’s one-liners about had me busting a gut, Rosita serving looks, Kelly and Lydia getting to be badass too) and parts I didn’t love (not being able to see a damn thing, Angela trying to tip the scales in Negan’s favor, not enough Carol or Aaron or Rosita, no reunion between Aunt Carol and the Grimes babies even though that picture floating around suggests it was at least shot, not being able to see a damn thing, all the Alexandria people playing follow the leader for Maggie when she’s been gone 6 years and Daryl’s right there--hell, even Father G deserves the honor over her because it’s obvious they’re not exactly on the same wavelength anymore).
I don’t know about anybody else, but I’m just glad to have our show back.
Later, lovelies.

TITLE: A Step Too Far? NUMBER OF CHAPTERS/ONE SHOT: 8/? WHICH TOM CHARACTER: Stepfather Tom OTHER CHARACTERS: Benedict Cumberbatch, Andrew Scott PAIRING: Tom/OFC, Benedict Cumberbatch/OFC GENRE: Drama, Hurt/Comfort
CHAPTER EIGHT
Following day at the office, Nina kept sending Stina to do errands concerning Benedict. She decided that she should try to avoid him as much as possible to prevent any further sexual contact between them. She felt horrible for his sweet, soft-spoken wife and couldn’t get the image of her out of her head. She deserved better.
“Is something up between you and mister Cumberbatch?” Stina asked curiously as they had lunch together. They both had salads and sparkling water, and were dressed similarly with white shirts and black pencil skirts. While Nina was pretty slim built with big breasts, Stina had a very curvy, womanly figure that Nina couldn’t help but envy. While Nina wanted to be thin herself, she did find Stina’s curvy body type to be more attractive than her own. And to judge by the men’s appreciative looks towards Stina, they thought so as well.
“No. Or well...” Nina decided to lie about it, since there obviously was something going on between herself and Benedict. “Please, don’t tell anyone,” she said and leaned slightly forward over the table to speak in a lower voice than before, as though she was to confide Stina with something very private. “But he yelled at me the other day about a bill I forgot to pay. I know it was a big mistake and all, but he didn’t have to lose his temper like that. So I’m trying to avoid him as much as possible.”
“Oh, I see,” Stina replied with a sympathetic smile. “I’m sorry he yelled at you. I’ll help you avoid him if that’s how you want to handle the situation.”
“Thank you,” Nina said appreciatively.
“But I think it would be best if you just talked to him about it. It’s not good if you feel like you need to avoid him. I could come with you, if you like, for moral support,” Stina offered helpfully.
“Thanks, Stina,” Nina said. “Right now I just want to stay away from him for a bit, but I’ll let you know if I change my mind.”
“Okay,” Stina replied with a gentle smile.
Nina looked at her colleague and wondered how she could have disliked her so much before. It must have been the sense of rivalry between them. But Stina had not seemed to be that affected by the fact that Nina had the position she had wanted for herself. Instead, she had in fact been very nice and welcoming towards Nina. And helpful. She was always there to lend a helping hand if Nina should need one. She was very sweet and somehow reminded Nina of Jim. He was also incredibly helpful and understanding. Maybe they would make a good fit?
“Are you single?” Nina asked suddenly.
“Um, at the moment, yes. But I do have two cats,” Stina replied with a smile.
“Would you like to go on a date?” Nina asked.
“With you? Sure, why not,” Stina answered with a shrug. Nina cursed herself internally for not having been more clear that she wanted Stina to go on a date with her friend Jim. She couldn’t exactly tell her that now without turning it awkward.
“How about dinner and a movie?” Nina suggested. She decided that she had to go through with it, otherwise she would embarrass Stina and possibly ruin their new friendship.
“Sounds good to me,” Stina replied with a smile.
“Are you free on Thursday after work?” Nina asked, scrolling through her calendar on the phone. Stina picked up her phone as well and copied the action.
“Thursday’s great,” she replied cheerfully.
“Great,” Nina replied and smiled to herself. A date would be a good way to get to know Stina better, and after all, Nina was kind of interested in her.
The days went by, and Nina only had brief professional interactions with Benedict thanks to Stina’s help. Eventually, Thursday came and it was time for Nina and Stina’s date.
“Are you coming?” Tom asked, like he usually did when the working day was over.
“Actually, I’m going on a date,” Nina told him happily.
“Oh, I see. With whom, if I may ask?” Tom wondered curiously.
“With Stina,” Nina replied as she got up from her seat and grabbed the backpack with an extra change of clothes that she had brought to work that morning.
“Stina Johansson?” Tom asked and his eyes widened slightly with surprise as Nina nodded at him. “Oh, I didn’t know that you were- I mean. I hope you have fun. What are you going to do on your date?”
“Dinner first, and then a movie,” Nina replied gleefully, amused by his reaction to the fact that she was going on a date with another girl.
“Okay, I’ll see you tonight then,” he told her with a smile. “Have fun.”
“I will,” Nina said with a smile before heading to the changing room where she got changed into a turquoise dress. She stood by the mirror and reapplied her makeup as Stina walked in. They seemed to be the only ones left at the office.
“Hi,” Stina greeted her gleefully and proceeded to get changed into a wine red dress.
“Hi,” Nina replied and felt a fluttering sensation in her abdomen as she took in Stina’s beauty.
They got ready together and had a pleasant dinner at a restaurant near the movie theatre. Nina insisted on paying the tab at the restaurant and Stina insisted on paying for the movie tickets and snacks at the cinema. Nina smiled as she thought about how they both had wanted to pay and almost gotten into an argument about it. The movie was a romantic comedy, and none of them paid much attention to the storyline as they were busy making out with each other.
When the movie was finally over and the lights went on, the two women finally parted from each other, earning amused looks from the people who had been sitting closest to them. Nina blushed in embarrassment, whereas Stina just smiled brightly at them.
“So, I suppose this is it,” Nina said reluctantly as they stood outside the movie theatre. She wanted to spend more time in Stina’s company.
“You could always crash at my place,” Stina suggested and Nina felt a big smile spread across her face.
“Sure,” she agreed gleefully.
Stina was living in a small, but nice apartment together with her two cats; Tor and Loke from the norse mythology. Loke was black, small and very energetic, whereas Tor was cream coloured, big and quite calm. Nina had a great time playing with the cats and they seemed to appreciate being at the centre of attention for a little while. Once they grew tired of her, they simply laid down to take a nap.
“Oh, I wish I was a cat,” Nina said excitedly as she watched Tor and Loke sleep.
“Why?” Stina asked her amusedly and handed her another glass of wine.
“Then I could take naps all the time without anyone complaining,” Nina replied dreamingly.
“But you don’t want to sleep away most of your days, do you?” Stina asked as she sat down on the barstool in the kitchen.
“Sometimes I do. Like I’ve already told you, I get tired a lot,” Nina said a bit sadly and took another sip of wine.
“I’ve noticed that you drink a lot of energy drinks,” Stina replied. “Is there any medical reason you feel tired all the time? Have you told doctor Freeman about it?”
“He knows about it,” Nina told her. “I have ADD. It’s like ADHD but without hyperactivity.”
“Ah, I see. My brother has ADHD, so I know a little bit about it. Do you take medications for it?” Stina asked interestedly.
“Not at the moment, but I’m going to start again as soon as doctor Freeman says it’s alright for me to take them again,” Nina explained.
“Ah, I see. Did you lose too much weight taking them? My brother did that,” Stina said understandingly.
“Exactly,” Nina replied and made a slight grimace at the thought of her doctor’s reaction to her rapid weight loss last time she was on the medication. “It sucks, because I do feel like I need them to function properly. No one seems to understand that.”
“I think I have some idea of what you’re going through. My brother says that he feels a lot more calmer on the inside and is able to focus better when he’s on his medications,” Stina told her. “I think it’s admirable that you’re doing such a good job even though you’re not on your medications.”
“Thank you,” Nina said with a smile. She felt glad to finally have found someone who seemed to understand at least a little bit about her struggles.
The next day at work, Tom walked up to Nina’s desk as he arrived in the morning. She felt hungover, but Stina had made sure that they got to work on time, even a bit early.
“I’m guessing your date went well since you didn’t come home last night,” he told her with a smile.
“It went great,” Nina replied and yawned largely. “She has two cats. I wish I was a cat right now, so I could have a nap.”
“Did you stay up late last night?” Tom asked her with a knowing smile.
“Yeah, time just flew by,” Nina told him with a smile.
“Sounds like you had a good time,” Tom told her warmly and then leaned in to whisper to her. “You should probably have some chewing gum or something, because you smell of wine,” he advised her. Nina blushed in response and grabbed a gum from her backpack along with an energy drink. Tom raised an eyebrow at her. “No energy drinks on the desk, pour it into a coffee cup.”
“Ha! You just violated our deal,” Nina told him, playfully raising a warning finger at him. “We said no complaints about my energy drinks for a full month and it’s only been a week.”
“Right. Just pour it into a coffee cup, please,” Tom requested. “It doesn’t look nice with energy drink cans on the desk.”
“How about cola cans?” Nina questioned, pointing towards a desk in the far back where a man named Erik had a can of Coca Cola on his desk.
“You can tell him to pour his cola into a coffee cup as well,” Tom decided, causing Nina to sigh heavily. She didn’t feel like standing up and walking all the way over to Erik’s desk to tell him that. “Are you feeling hungover?” Tom asked her teasingly.
“Mhm,” Nina answered.
“Have one of these,” Tom offered and handed her a tube of fluid replacement pills. “It’s an effervescent tablet, so you put it in a glass of water and let it resolve before you drink it,” he explained, wanting to avoid any preventable incidents.
“I know, I can read,” Nina said sarcastically as she looked at the pipe of pills. “Thank you, Tom,” she added in a nicer tone of voice and gave him an appreciative smile.
"Oh, and before I forget. Here," Tom offered and handed her four of the pills doctor Freeman had prescribed for her. "Don't take them all at once," he warned her.
"I won't," Nina assured him.
Nina didn’t feel well at all as she got up from her seat to talk to Erik. She ran to the toilet and threw up all of the breakfast Stina had so kindly made for her that morning. She could feel the sweat run down her forehead and washed her face. Her head was aching and her stomach was turning at the mere thought of food.
She went to the kitchen and grabbed a glass of water, placing one of Tom’s pills in it. While she was there, she grabbed two empty coffee cups. She put the glass of water and one of the cups down on her desk before walking up to Erik.
“Hi Erik. Mister Hiddleston requested that we from now on should not have any cans on our desks, so I need you to pour your cola into this,” Nina informed the man in his mid-twenties and handed him the cup. He glanced over at Nina’s desk, where the can of energy drink was still sitting.
“Hypocrite,” he said shortly, sullenly grabbing his cola can and emptied its contents into the cup before putting the can on the floor underneath his desk.
“I have to do it too,” Nina informed him wearily. “I know it’s a stupid rule, Erik. But I didn’t make the decision, To- mister Hiddleston did.”
“Your life must be so easy,” Erik told her enviously. “You’ve got a rich stepfather who just gives you a great position in his company one day. Everyone else here has actually worked hard to get their jobs, but you just come here one day and think you’re better than all the rest.”
“What?” Nina asked confusedly. “I don’t think I’m better than everyone else,” she told him truthfully. “A lot of the time I actually think that I don’t deserve to be here.”
“Good, because you don’t,” Erik told her irritably. “Your stepfather should have let you work from the bottom up. That way you might have learned to appreciate how lucky you actually are. But instead he lets you remain a spoiled brat.”
Nina didn’t know what to say to that, so she just went back to her desk. She drank some of the fluid replacement and filled her coffee cup with her energy drink before putting the can on the floor like Erik had done. She took a couple of deep breaths to compose herself and stop herself from bursting into tears at Erik’s hurtful comments.
“Are you alright?” Stina asked and stopped by her desk. She put a hand on Nina’s shoulder, while balancing a tray of hot drinks with the other hand, and smiled encouragingly at her.
“I’m just tired, that’s all,” Nina replied and forced herself to smile.
“I’ll bring mister Cumberbatch and mister Hiddleston their coffees now. Perhaps you should bring mister Scott his tea?” Stina suggested helpfully. “You always seem to be in a better mood after you’ve spoken to him.”
“Thanks, I will,” Nina said as she stood up and grabbed the cup of tea from the tray.
She headed into Andrew’s office and was greeted by one of his sunshine smiles.
“Is something wrong?” Andrew wondered concernedly as his smile faded away from his face. Nina put the tea down on his desk and shrugged. “Nina, talk to me,” he encouraged her. Nina sighed before she spoke.
“Do you think I’m a spoiled brat?” she asked, causing him to smile again.
“A little bit, sometimes,” he replied honestly. “But I don’t see anything wrong with that. I think you’ve grown a lot as a person since you first started working here.
“But I’m not so sure that I deserve to be here,” she told him sadly.
“You do deserve to be here,” Andrew assured her as he got out of his seat to put an arm around her shoulders. “You’re doing a great job and I wouldn’t want anyone else as my secretary. Do you hear that? You do deserve to be here. You’ve earned your spot,” he told her keenly.
“Thank you, Andrew,” Nina told him emotionally and smiled as he hugged her. She truly loved his hugs, they made her feel cared for.
Right after lunch break, before Nina had begun to work, the phone rang. It was Josef, Andrew's partner.
"Hi, Nina, it's Josef. Do you have time to talk?" came the familiar voice at the other end of the line.
"I suppose I could grant you a couple of minutes of my precious time," Nina replied with a smile.
"Great. So what's new with you?" Josef asked.
"Nothing much… well, I went on a date last night," Nina told him as she began sorting the mail on her desk into different piles.
"A date? Oh, do tell," Josef said excitedly. "Who's the lucky guy?"
"Girl," Nina corrected. "Her name is Stina and she's a colleague of mine."
"A workplace romance! That's so sweet," Josef said brightly. "How did the date go?"
"It went well, I suppose. I spent the night," Nina revealed, smiling as she heard Josef gasp into the receiver.
"Oh, you naughty girl," he commented in exaggerated shock.
"Oh, you have no idea how naughty I can be," Nina whispered playfully into the receiver, causing Josef to gasp again. "Unfortunately, I need to go now, Josef. Would you like me to pass along a message to Andrew?"
"Tell him that I love him and to buy some wine on the way home. The expensive kind," Josef requested.
"Okay, I'll make sure he receives your message," Nina replied as she scribbled down the message on a post-it. "Have a nice day, Josef."
"You too, Nina."
Nina smiled to herself as she hung up the phone. Josef called nearly every day, asking her about how she was, and to pass on some sweet messages to his partner. She quite enjoyed his calls when she wasn't too busy to stop what she was doing for a chat. She had told him that right after lunch was a good time for him to call, which he seemed to have remembered.
"Andrew," Nina said as he entered the open plan office space she shared with fourteen colleagues. Her desk was at the front, a bit away from the others'. "Josef called. He asked me to tell you he loves you and that you should buy some expensive wine on your way home," she said, passing him the post-it note.
"Thanks, Nina," Andrew said, grabbing the pink little piece of paper. "He's not disturbing your work, is he?" he added concernedly.
"Not at all, we only talk for a few minutes. It's kind of nice, actually. I find myself looking forward to his calls," Nina told him honestly. Andrew’s face lit up at her words and he smiled widely.
"I'm so glad to hear that," he told her and looked genuinely happy as he walked towards his office.
As the working day finally came to an end, Tom walked up to her desk like he usually did.
"Are you coming home with me today?" he wondered.
"Sure," Nina said and grabbed her backpack from under the desk.
"How was your day?" Tom asked as they walked to the car.
"It was brutal," Nina complained. "I'm never drinking the day before work ever again," she told him.
"Sounds like a good idea," Tom agreed amusedly.
"How was your day?" Nina asked.
"It was good, thanks for asking," Tom replied with a smile. "It's been a long week."
“Indeed it has,” Nina agreed, and realised that she had managed to avoid being near Benedict for more than a few minutes at a time ever since the incident on Monday. He hadn’t insisted that they would talk either, which was a great relief. He probably got the hint that she wanted nothing more to do with him. She needed to stay away from him as much as possible, because the feelings of guilt were overwhelming, and what they were doing wasn’t right. It was unfair to Benedict’s wife as well as his children. She didn’t want to tear that beautiful family apart.
“You’ve seemed very focused on your work this week,” Tom commended her once they had gotten into the car.
“Thanks. I’ve tried,” Nina replied and smiled as Tom put on some country music. His music taste was very varied to say the least, she never knew what he would put on next. Her smile faded slightly as she listened to the lyrics.
‘Your cheatin’ heart Will make you weep You’ll cry and cry And try to sleep But sleep won’t come The whole night through Your cheatin’ heart Will tell on you’
Nina sometimes had trouble sleeping when she thought about Benedict’s family, and wondered if Benedict was suffering through a similar sense of guilt. She was kind of hoping he was. That way he might stop doing things he shouldn’t be doing.
Nina went for a walk that evening, making sure to pass by Benedict’s house. She wanted to see what he was doing. Was he spending time with his family? Was he a good father who didn’t neglect his childrenwhen he was at home? She felt like a creep as she sneaked into the garden and glanced through the living room window. The whole family was gathered. Benedict was sitting on the floor in front of the TV playing a videogame with his oldest son, while Sophie was sitting on the sofa reading a book to their youngest son.
Nina was just about to turn around and walk away, when Benedict seemingly by chance looked up right at her. Her eyes widened with horror before she ran across the garden and climbed over the garden fence. She kept running for a bit before finally slowing down and beginning her walk home. After a moment, her phone rang from a number she didn’t recognise and she picked up.
“Seriously, Nina. What the hell do you think you’re doing?!” It was Benedict’s angry voice on the other end of the line. His anger was probably justified, but she was angry too. How could he be so two-faced? “Answer me! Damn it!”
“Do you ever feel so guilty that you can’t sleep at night?” Nina asked him. She could hear Benedict’s heavy sigh.
“You can’t come around my house just to make me feel guilty,” Benedict told her seriously, his voice calmer now. “Do you have trouble sleeping, Nina?”
“Sometimes,” Nina admitted. “Sometimes I wake up crying. Do you feel guilty, Ben?”
“Of course I do,” Benedict replied. “That’s why I get so angry with you when you come to my house like this, or say things to make Sophie suspicious.”
“If you’re feeling so guilty, then why don’t you come clean?” Nina questioned.
“Because that would ruin my marriage. Sophie would leave with the children,” Benedict told her.
“Your cheatin’ heart will tell on you,” Nina told him seriously. “You’re not as bad of a man as you try to convince yourself that you are, Ben. You do have a conscience and this will eat you up, like it does me.” She hung up before Benedict had the time to respond. She thought it was a good way to end their conversation.

Pairing: Loki x Desi!F!Reader
Warnings: None
Genre: Pure Fluff
Requested: By @marvel-madness
Hi there! Could you do a Loki x Desi American!reader where she takes everyone to a holi festival? And it’s super adorable and kinda crack!fic at the same time?
Summary: Y/N, an American born Desi, takes her friends, the Avengers, to India to show them what a real party looks like.
Author's Note: Hi!!! A huge thanks to @marvel-madness for requesting this fic and sending the prompt! It was amazing to write! For the Indian friends, I used the names of my own friends (and I oop). I hope y'all desis reading this enjoy it! Sorry if it's crappy I tried my best—
---
Loki stared at his girlfriend of 8 months in confusion. He was confused as to why she was staring at the calendar so longingly. "Um, love, is anything—" She groaned loudly, startling him. "I wanna go! I wanna go home so bad! Haaye mein mar jawa…" That phrase was spoken in Punjabi, even though Loki knew his girlfriend was of Marathi origins.
He didn't understand it, but her sadness was clear. "What happened? Where do you want to go?" he asked soothingly, wrapping his arms around her. "Back to India! The festival of Holi is in a week and my family is inviting me. I want to go, but…" she sighed, turning around in his arms. Y/N was a second generation desi American, her parents having moved to New York.
Y/N was born here, but she had a lot of family back in India. She loved Bollywood, the Indian festivals, the culture, the food, everything. Every year, she went to India during the festival of Holi, it being her favorite one. This year, though, things seemed difficult. Now she was a part of the Avengers and had a lot of work. If only she could get a 2 week break.
"But what? You have to go! It's your favorite festival, you've told me that a hundred times," Loki scoffed as she buried her face in his chest. "I know! But the Avengers, my work…" she whined. "Don't worry about that, we'll be fine," Loki laughed. Suddenly, she had a brilliant idea. They should go to India with her! "Why don't you come with me?"
"Me? Uh… okay, I don't have plans, visiting India sounds nice…" Loki stammered, taken aback. "Not only you, all of you! Thor, Tony, Steve, Nat, Bruce, Clint, Wanda, Vision, Sam, Bucky… I'll take you to a brilliant Holi festival! You'll have a lot of fun," Y/N said excitedly, jumping up and down. Loki smiled softly at her excitement.
"Why don't we call a meeting and ask them?"
Fifteen minutes later, all the aforementioned people were assembled in the sitting room, smiling at the couple. "So, did Loki propose? Are you getting married? Is Y/N pregnant?" Loki and Y/N rolled their eyes at Tony's questions while the others laughed. "This one is pretty mild. I have a question to ask you all." Steve beckoned for Y/N to go on, everyone listening attentively.
"As you all know, the festival of Holi is a week away, and I've been to India for the festival every single year of my life. This year, too, there isn't a problem with me going there but I wanna ask… any of you interested in tagging along?" For a few seconds, all was silent. Y/N grew nervous, should she not have asked? She got startled badly when everyone cheered loudly.
"We're going to India! We're going to India! Finally!"
A wide smile bloomed on Y/N's face; she glanced at Loki to see him already looking at her with a smile of his own. "Okay, my dudes, start packing! We leave tomorrow! Can we borrow your private jets, Tones?" He agreed instantly, hugging Y/N. "We better get to packing," Steve laughed, running out of the room with Nat, Wanda, Sam and Bucky.
---
"Ugh… so… hot…"
"It was your idea to come to India, Y/N."
"Yeah, we feel fine."
Y/N glared at her teammates, which caused them to look at her smugly. Their jet had just landed at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport, in Mumbai. One of Y/N's relatives lived in a huge apartment complex in Mumbai, and she had invited their other relatives, too. Every year, that complex saw the best Holi party ever, complete with water, colours, bhaang, songs and dance.
Y/N had been there a couple times. The Avengers and herself had decided to stay at a nearby hotel. Being 12 people, they had booked 6 double rooms in one of the hotels at the airport, called Grand Hyatt. The entire trip was sponsored by Tony Stark. Since Tony and Bruce spoke Hindi a little bit and Y/N… well, she was Indian, they decided to get 3 cabs.
In one cab sat Loki, Y/N, Thor and Vision, in the second sat Tony, Steve, Wanda and Nat while in the third cab sat Bruce, Clint, Sam and Bucky. Their cab arrived at the hotel, they checked in and went to their rooms.
---
"Loki, Lokes, wakey-wakey!"
Loki blinked his eyes open at the persistent awakening, turning over on the hotel bed. Y/N grabbed his shoulder, shaking him. "What? It's… 7 in the morning!" he whined shamelessly, pushing her hands away. "It'll take us 15 minutes to reach the apartment complex but the celebrations start early there," Y/N insisted. He sighed, right, today was the day of Holi.
"Fine, I'm getting up," he muttered as he sat up. Y/N stood in front of him, wearing a white kurti and white pants underneath. She looked so beautiful, he couldn't resist pulling her on his lap. "Loki," Y/N chuckled bashfully as he kissed her cheek. She turned her head to face him and placed a proper kiss to his lips. "That dress is beautiful, like you," he whispered to her.
She giggled, giving him a hug. "Okay, go get ready, I need to wake the others up," she smiled, pushing away from him. He nodded and stood up, stretching. He picked up his suitcase which was kept in the corner of the room while Y/N left to wake the others up. He picked out a white t-shirt and a pair of jeans.
Y/N had explained to the others how wearing white during the festival was the best option. Everyone had brought along a white tee to wear. He first cleaned up and wore his clothes, finally sitting down to apply some oil to the exposed parts of his body. Y/N said it helped the colours come out faster. After preparing, he grabbed the room keys and left, locking the door.
---
"Y/N! How are you? I thought you wouldn't visit this year," Krsna, one of Y/N's friends, grinned as she moved to hug her. The Avengers quietly stood behind, taking in all the beautiful sights. The buildings were decorated, there was a drinks table nearby, the colours were neatly kept on another table and nearly 30 other people there. Many children, a few adults and even fewer oldies.
Since Y/N visited the apartment complex nearly every single year, you could say she practically grew up with the kids there, meaning Krsna and a few others. They had formed a strong bond.
Most of the kids were staring at these foreigners in shock and awe. "Hell no! I wouldn't miss my favorite festival for anything. Meet my friends." Krsna gathered a few of her friends too, namely Shruti, Drishti, Harsh and Ritvik. "This is Loki," Y/N introduced first. Loki moved forward to wrap his arms around his girl from behind, smiling at her Indian friends.
"Oooh," Harsh smirked, which earned him a slap on the arm from Krsna. "Kadhi pasun?" Drishti asked cheekily, crossing her arms. "Since 8 months," Y/N replied, shaking her head. She quickly introduced the others too. They were a bit surprised, because holy hell, the Avengers but they got over their shock immediately. "This place looks nice," Wanda commented.
"Thank you! We usually start preparing a week before Holi," Ritvik grinned. Harsh, Drishti and Ritvik decided to give the Avengers a tour of the apartment complex and they readily agreed to go along with them. Loki, Y/N, Tony, Natasha, Krsna and Shruti decided to stay back. "Tujhya mom dad la mahiti aahe?" Shruti questioned, motioning towards Loki.
"Ho! Tyana kahi farak nahi padla," Y/N laughed, sending a smile in Loki's direction. "New York ka kya? Isne hi kiya tha na? News mein dekha meine…" Krsna asked worriedly. "Don't worry about that! Abhi thik ho gaya hai ye…" Y/N winked. Loki was trying his hardest to decipher what they were saying, but all in vain. As Tony stood to the side, listening to the three ladies talking in their native tongue, he noticed a few people walking up to him.
They were small kids, around 8-9 years old. "Happy Holi!" one boy grinned, raising his colour filled hands up to wipe them on Tony's cheeks. Tony grinned broadly, taking some colour to return the favor. "Happy Holi, kid!" he said happily. Natasha joined him, applying some red colour to the kids' cheeks. The kids led them somewhere and the two of them went readily.
Y/N looked around the place, trying to find her friends. She smiled proudly when she saw everyone enjoying themselves. A few of them were talking to the adults, most of them were playing with the kids and Wanda was following Drishti, who was teaching her a dance step to the songs that were playing. The scene warmed her heart. As she enjoyed the scene, a water balloon collided hard with her back.
She turned, shocked, only for Loki to cover her face in pink colour. He ruffled her hair, screaming 'Happy Holi'. "Grr, get back, a-hole!" she screamed, quickly wiping her face before she took off running after him. Krsna handed her a water balloon and with expert precision, Y/N threw it at Loki. It hit his back. He turned around and smirked at her.
She grabbed a handful of colour and went to each of her friends, applying colour to their faces and wishing them a happy holi. She chatted with some of the aunties of the society, and also wished her relatives. Soon, the volume of the songs increased and party, holi songs started playing. The first song was Balam Pichkari. Y/N cheered loudly, dancing along with some of the others.
"Balam pichkari, jo tune mujhe maari, toh seedhi saadhi chori sharabi ho gayi!" Y/N sang along, enjoying very much. Loki stood to the side and took out his phone, discreetly taking a few photos as she enjoyed. By the end of 2 hours, all the Avengers were soaked in water, every single colour visible on their clothes, their faces and their hair. They were a bit drunk, having had nearly 4 glasses of bhaang each. Still, they had huge grins on their faces.
"Stay for lunch! We also organize lunch! After lunch and ice cream, we also have a game of housie but I'd understand if you—" Y/N scoffed, cutting off Ritvik's trail of words. "We're staying for as long as we can! We'll be back in about an hour, after cleaning up." She checked the time, it was 12 noon. "Sure, sure. We'll be waiting. Bye!" Harsh, Krsna, Shruti, Drishti and Ritvik waved as the Avengers walked out of the complex.
"Did you enjoy?" Y/N asked the Avengers immediately. "Of course we did! This was the most fun I've had in years. I wanna celebrate Holi every year now," Wanda squealed. Everyone agreed with her. "See? Indian festivals, always the best," Y/N winked. They booked cabs, went to their hotels and cleaned up, taking a bath and wearing fresh clothes.
They went back to the apartment complex just in time for lunch. Everyone there had also cleaned up. As Y/N watched her friends mingle with her Indian friends, she made up her mind— to bring the Avengers to every single Holi party from that year onwards.
---
A/N: Yeeeee!!!! I'm sad because I couldn't play Holi this year [one of my relatives passed away, RIP :')] but writing this released dopamine in my brain.
For those of you who don't know-
Balam Pichkari is very famous Bollywood song related to Holi
Bhaang is kind of an alcoholic drink prepared from milk (?)
I've mostly used Hindi and Marathi since those two are the Indian languages I speak (I can also speak Gujarati and understand Telugu, which is my father tongue) but yeah :/
I hope you like this!!

Starting Point
CHAPTER 1: FIRST DAY
JUVIA POV
I woke up because of the sound of my alarm, but I still don’t want to get up from my bed. However, I have no choice. I have to prepare early because today is the first day of school. I got transferred and enrolled to a new school because something happened in my previous one.
I get up from my bed and stretch. I can also smell the breakfast that my mom is preparing, but I will take my shower first. I took my towel at the back of the door then went to the bathroom inside my room.
After 30 minutes, I'm dressed up, and ready to go. "Juvia, darling! Breakfast is ready!". I heard my mom from the kitchen, but before going out from my room, I look at myself at the mirror, I smile, I close my eyes, and exhale deeply.
Juvia: Today is Juvia's new beginning…
I grab my bag then went out from my room. My mother is placing our breakfast on the table, and I help her with the rest.
Ruvina: Are you ready in your first day? (smiling)
Juvia: Yes mom. Juvia is a bit nervous… (sits on the chair)
Ruvina: I can tell… (winks at Juvia)
Whenever I feel nervous, I always speak in third person, it is one of the reasons why I am being bullied before. So, I changed my way of speaking, but sometimes I really can't help it.
Ruvina: Don’t worry, everything will be alright now…
Juvia: (smiles at her mom) I hope so…
My mom sits on the chair in front of me, and we start eating our breakfast. It has been me and mom since my dad died. He left us 3 years ago because of the drunk truck driver and it caused a huge accident. There were so many people who got injured, and some died; my father was one of them. That day was really unexpected.
I am done with my breakfast, I get up from my chair, grab my bag on the floor, and give my mom a kiss on her right cheek.
Juvia: I'll go now mom, and don’t wait for me. I'll be home late…
Ruvina: Okay, just be careful…
Juvia: I will. Bye!
JUVIA POV
I arrive at my new school, but I'm just standing in front of the entrance staring at the school's sign. My new school is Fairy Tail University, and according to what I've read, it is a fine school. I am feeling nervous right now, it is like starting from a scratch, but it is a good thing because I want to start fresh. Although, I'm really nervous meeting new people, and I'm not sure if I will fit in, but I will try my best to stay away from troubles. I sigh and just preparing myself. When I know that I'm ready, I finally walk in.
I am taking an Advertising course because I want to follow my dad's footsteps. He used to bring me sometimes in his work, and I found his job interesting. So, I want to learn more about advertising, and I am really enjoying it so far.
As I am walking to find the Principal office, some eyes are staring at me, and it is making me uncomfortable, but I chooses to just ignore them. "Look out!". I heard a yell from a man's voice. When I turn my head at the direction of the voice, a ball hit me on my left shoulder, and I drop the papers that I'm holding. I slightly groan in pain because it is not that painful. I lower my body, and about to pick up the papers, but another hand joins in. I look up and a pink-haired man is smiling at me.
Natsu: I'm sorry about that. Are you hurt?
I’m getting my papers from the ground, and I rise up. He also did the same.
Juvia: Juv- … Uhm, I am fine…
Natsu: (he looks at Juvia) Are you new here?
Juvia: Yes, I am actually looking for the principal’s office…
The man in front of me smiles brightly, then he passes the ball to one of his friends; I think, and he looks back at me.
Natsu: I can take you there…
I don’t know why this man is being friendly to me, but he doesn’t seem a bad person, so I give him a half-smile and nods.
Juvia: Okay…
Natsu: Here…
He gives me the papers, and I took it shyly from him.
Juvia: Thank you…
Natsu: Let's go…
He starts walking, and I follow him. As we continue walking, other students are greeting him with a smile, especially some girls. They are calling him Natsu, so that is his name. He seems friendly because he is greeting them back, and also showing them a big smile.
He stops and turns around to face me. He raises his finger up, showing me the "principal’s office" sign and he smiles.
Natsu: We are here…
Juvia: Thank you for helping me (bows at Natsu) …
He looks surprised when I bowed at him.
Natsu: (slightly laughs) You're polite, aren't you? But you don’t need to do that…
Juvia: O-okay…
Natsu: By the way, my name is Natsu (offering his hand) …
Juvia: I heard (shaking hands with Natsu) …
We parted our hands, then looking at each other.
Natsu: What's yours?
Juvia: I am Juvia…
Natsu: Nice to meet you…
Juvia: Same…
Natsu: Okay, I'll better go. I'll see you around…
He is waving his hand while walking away from me, and still smiling. I smile back at him. When he is already far from where I am standing, I knock at the door of the principal office then it opens, and a familiar someone greets me with a warm smile.
NATSU POV
Our school bell rang 10 minutes ago, but our professor is not here yet. Since I played basketball earlier with my other friends, I feel sleepy already. But my favorite sport is football and I belong to the University football team, I am a quarterback.
So, we are just waiting for our professor. I glance at Erza and Cana who are busy talking to each other, but I don’t want to join their girl talks. I kind of miss fighting with someone, but that damn ice prick is not here. He is so lucky for not showing in our first day of school. When he comes back, I'll make sure that he will get some beating from me. I also miss my girlfriend, but she is in another class. I can’t wait to see her later. Loke will probably going to be late again, or most likely miss out our first period.
Erza: Why are you sulking Natsu?
Cana: Don’t tell me you already miss Lucy? You just saw her earlier, and you two are mostly glued together…
Natsu: Don’t talk to me!
I regret saying that because I can feel Erza's scary glare. She is a girl, but she can hit you like a man. Volleyball suits her very much. We are all scared at her, and I wonder how Jellal can calm her down, but I rather not make her mad because no one will save me from her.
Natsu: I'm sorry, I didn’t mean to say that…
Erza: (pats Natsu's shoulder) Relax, I'm not planning to hurt you…
I relax my shoulder after hearing that. What is wrong with this girl?
Cana: She is in a good mood right now, so don’t ruin it for her…
Natsu: Is it something to do with Jellal?
I look at Erza, and I can see her smiling and blushing. I am right! Even if Jellal is not here, he is my savior. Erza sits back on her chair and still smiling like a fool.
Few minutes later, our professor Jura enters the room and Mr. Makarov Dreyar; our principal enters next and behind them is the girl I met and helped earlier. I remember her name ---
Natsu: Juvia…?
Cana: (leans closer at Natsu) You know her?
Natsu: I met her earlier…
Cana is about to talk, but she stops when we heard Mr. Dreyar clapped his hands and it caught our attention.
Makarov: Good morning children…
Students: Good morning, Mr. Dreyar…
Our principal loves calling us students’ "children" because he explained before that when we are here inside the school, he is our parent, and we all like it. He is a great principal, and he deserve respect.
Makarov: As you all can see; we have a new student ---
Mr. Dreyar continues to introduce Juvia to us, I can see that she is a shy girl, and quite embarrass because all eyes are fixed on her. It is nice to see a new face in our school, and I know someone will like it as well.
Makarov: Natsu!
Juvia looks at me, and I did as well. I smile at her, and she bows slightly. I told her not to do that, but I guess it is her way to show respect.
Natsu: Yes, Mr. Dreyar?
Makarov: Is that chair at your right side vacant?
Natsu: Yes, it is…
Principal Dreyar smiles at me then look at Juvia.
Makarov: You can take that seat…
Juvia: Thank you, Mr. Dreyar…
Makarov: I already talked to your professors, including Professor Jura. Talk to them after class…
Juvia: (smiles) I will, thank you…
Makarov: Go on child, take your seat…
Juvia walks shyly to the vacant seat and settles herself. Cana who is sitting behind her, gently taps her shoulder, and introduce herself, Erza did the same. When she looks at me, I smile and welcome her.
Natsu: So, I guess we're classmates…
JUVIA POV
I didn’t expect that I will be receiving a warm welcome from my new classmates, but I am more surprised with the students that talked to me first. Natsu was the first one, since I already met him earlier. The girl behind me told me her is name is Cana, and the one on my right side introduced her name as Erza.
I do now believe that Fairy Tail University is different from my previous school. When I first attended Phantom Lord University all I received was a mad glare, and some negative words. I still made a friend, but only one, and he is my best friend. I wonder what he is doing right now. I want to see him because we haven’t seen each other for a month, and I am already missing him.
Professor Jura started his lesson minutes ago, and I am just focusing on the discussion.
JUVIA POV
My class continues, I kept on meeting new people. I met Lucy and Levy because they are taking the same course as mine, and we have the same schedules in all our major subjects. They introduced me with their other friends, and I found out that Lucy is Natsu's girlfriend. Erza and Jellal are also a couple, so as Mira and Laxus; they are all adorable. The others, Levy, Cana, and Loke that I just met are all singles. I will include myself.
I also find out that most of us are studying business course related, Jellal, Laxus, and Mira are taking a different course. Jellal is a Law student, Laxus is a Civil Engineer student, and Mira is studying Fine Arts.
We are in the cafeteria, and just done with our lunch. I am having fun talking to them, but my next class will start in 15 minutes. I get up, I look at Lucy and Levy, but they decided to stay for more couple of minutes, so I let them be.
Juvia: Okay, see you at our room…
Everyone at the table is waving at me, and I smile at them then I walk out of the cafeteria.
ERZA POV
Juvia left us to go to her class. I like her, and I want her to be my friend. I also think that the others want that too.
Erza: What do you think of Juvia?
Lucy: I like her (smiling) …
Levy: Yeah! Let’s be friends with her…
I look at the others and just waiting for their opinion.
Natsu: I don’t see any problem with that…
Cana: She is still shy though…
Loke: Of course, it’s her first day. What do you expect? She is not like you who talks to everyone.
Cana: Why? Natsu is also the same…
I look at Natsu who is busy holding Lucy's hand. I can feel that he is missing someone, not in a romantic way, but someone he can fight with, and I guess that is why he is not in the mood.
Mira: We can invite her at Lisanna's birthday party next week…
Lucy: We’ll see Lisanna later, I can tell her … (Mira nods)
Levy: I think we should head to our class as well Lucy…
Lucy: Oh right, let go of my hand now Natsu!
Natsu let go of Lucy's hand, and he frowns while pouting. I smile at Natsu's child act. He stands up as well to go to his own class. Loke and Cana’s class is about to start as well, so does Laxus and Jellal. Mira and I still have plenty of time before our next class, so we both decided to go to the café near the school.
 ***
JUVIA POV
My class is finally over, I fixed my things and put it inside my bag. Then suddenly, Lucy and Levy came to me.
Lucy: Juvia, do you want to come with us?
Levy: We’ll go at the nearby café with the others…
Juvia: (stood up and smiled at them shyly) Uhm, thank you for inviting me, but I can’t because I have to go to work…
Lucy: Where do you work?
Juvia: 8island… I just started last week, and I don’t want to miss work…
Levy: (smiles) We understand. Maybe next time?
Juvia: (nods with a smile) Yes…
Lucy: Okay then, we'll see you tomorrow Juvia…
I wave goodbye to Lucy and Levy, left school, and went straight to my work.

Single parent x demon
“There, there,” Lucy cooed as she bounced her baby on her hip, the child crying into her chest for whatever made him upset. “Are you hungry, hmm? Should I go get your bottle?”
The baby only continued to cry, his fists balled up as he clenched the fabric of her shirt. She softly lifted his face to stare into his teary brown eyes, a toothless mouth shrieking for comfort he didn’t know how else to beg for.
“Maybe your binky will help,” The young mother sighed, walking them to his dresser to retrieve the pacifier that sat on the surface. She popped it between his lips, relieved as he began sucking on the rubber nipple, his cries silencing into sniffles. “Is that better now, Ryuu?”
The baby only blinked as his mother smiled, setting him down in his crib for the remainder of the night. He eagerly took hold of the stuffed dragon she offered him, a silk cloth coming down to wipe away the trails of his tears.
“Goodnight, my love,” She kissed his forehead before tucking him into bed with his favorite quilted blanket, instantly soothing him to sleep.
The clock now read two hours past the witching time, both Lucy and Ryuu fast asleep. The pacifier soon fell from the child’s drooping lips, the slobbered item rolling over his stuffed animal and falling between the bars onto the carpet Lucy had been gifted by a friend. It was round and old, but still fuzzy and a kind purple that the mother felt fit the baby’s room. They didn’t have much to live with, so Lucy took what she could get to make her home as homey as possible.
The circular rug now lit with red letters, window curtains were left drawn open and shined the light of the full moon onto its center, fueled by the offering of a spilled human gift.
Ryuu began to stir as his lips puckered for the phantom nipple, his eyes glaring at the light filling the room. He rolled over and grabbed at the bars of his crib, confused as his mother was nowhere in sight, but instead a man stood and cracked his back.
“Geez, that hurt. How long has it been since someone summoned me?” He groaned and scratched his stomach, looking around for the human who called him. The baby burbled and bounced slightly on his feet, and the strange man turned to give him a look.
“A baby? Are you who called me here?” He looked to the floor and saw the binky covered in drool and soaking into one spot on the carpet, the moon casting its gaze upon it. “What a fluke. Here you go, kid.”
The man offered the small thing back to him before seeing the carpet hairs sticking to it, shuddering as he moved to find a wipe and clean it properly.
“I can’t exactly leave without giving you something, stupid laws.” He grumbled and let the kid suck on the rubber nipple again, staring at the blonde boy as he sat on his diaper-clad behind, tilting his head as the man sighed.
“Alright! I’m a demon king, my name is Natsu Dragneel,” He began, pointing to the horns and sharp fangs he sported. “You must got somethin’ pretty powerful in ya if all it took to summon me was some of your spit. But I’ll grant any wish you’ve got. I can’t get home if you don’t tell me what ya want, it can be anything. A new toy if you want, though that dragon you got there is pretty cool.”
He grinned and lifted the toy for the boy, making faux flying noises as he moved the dragon back and forth to imitate its moves in the air. The baby giggled, his pacifier falling out again as he smiled and clapped his hands, enjoying the mild entertainment before him.
“I could get you a real one of these, they’re not easy to train, but I think you’ve got a lot of magic, kid. Not a lot of humans do anymore, I could teach you how to use it if that’s what you want.”
The baby only continued to sit and stare, reaching his hands out to be held as he became restless again. Natsu rose a brow as he lifted the small boy, balancing him on one arm as his hand held his back.
“I wonder if this counts as givin’ you somethin’. But I doubt it, do you really not know how to say anything?” The demon exasperated as Ryuu pat his cheeks and pulled on his shirt, lost in the maze of his baby mind as Natsu mildly bounced him.
“You’re a pretty calm kid,”  He observed as the boy rested his head against Natsu’s shoulder and sucked his thumb. “Most babies don’t trust people right away, what’s your mom been teachin’ ya? How to be weird? Can’t be all that bad if it means you cause less trouble, I guess. But I don’t think you should, alright? Not everyone’s as nice as me, got it?”
“Damn, you’re kinda cute, y’know? And you smell nice, do all babies smell this good?” Natsu’s nose buried in his hair as the kid began to drift off, cozy against the oddly warm person who blathered on.
“Pa...pa...” Ryuu produced the word as he fell asleep, not really knowing what he had said, nor knowing how that triggered the contract to be etched on his and both Natsu’s soul.
“So you want a dad, hmm? Alright, I’ll see what I can do,”
“Lu-chan! Lu-chan, are you up?!” Levy called as she entered the Hearfilia apartment with her key, balancing a tray of coffee and bag of bagels in one hand before setting it down on the kitchen counter.
“In the shower!” She hollered back, the blue haired girl sighing with a smile as she fixed the food and turned on the T.V to catch up on the news.
“Ah! Not in your mouth, Ryuu, we don’t eat bubbles, remember?” Lucy rinsed the suds resting atop her son’s small fist, finishing her own hair with one hand as she held him in the other. Their dual shower ended shortly after, the blonde letting her son rest in the sink as she tied a towel around herself and picked him up in his even softer one.
“I’ll be ready in a minute, Levy-chan, do you mind getting Ryuu ready? I already laid out his clothes,” The shorter girl nodded as she eagerly took the baby in her hands, Lucy rushing into her own bedroom to finish preparing for the day.
“Alright, little dragon. Let’s get you ready, hmm? Isn’t it fun when Aunt Levy helps you get ready?” She hummed to the baby as she carefully dried him off, setting him down on his diaper changing table, fitting him for a new pair. She slipped his pudgy arms and legs into the red and white striped onesie, the next layer being a thin jean-like set of overalls. The weather outside called for a jacket as well, the baby ready to go after a ten-minute session. She grabbed his favorite stuffed toy and blanket from his crib, taking them to be packed in his diaper bag.
“Almost ready!” Lucy called as she finished slipping on a plain black dress and pink cardigan, tying her hair into a bun with some loose strands to adorn her features. She never bothered with makeup, much too busy rushing around with her son to take the time. Her matching flats were on in a second as she swung open her bedroom door, quick legs carrying her down the short hallway as she entered the shared living/dining room space.
“How’s my baby boy? Does your fruit taste good?” The blonde mother wooed and pressed several kisses to her son’s forehead as he sat in his highchair and ate the pureed mush Levy fed to him.
“Blended baby food is better than the packaged pulp, trust me,” Levy explained to the boy who continued to eat quietly, smiling and giggling when she made airplane noises for him.
“I could’ve slept another hour if we didn’t have a staff meeting today,” Lucy groaned as she multi-tasked, eating her own breakfast as she packed Ryuu’s food for the rest of the day.
“Don’t remind me,” Levy sighed, stretching as she sat up with the empty bowl, the Heartfilia son now drinking from a bottle of cold milk. “We get the same schpeel every time, these are becoming pointless,”
“Well, at least you get to spend some extra time with Gray-sensei, right, Ryuu? You like playing with Gray-sensei, right? Loke-sensei too, yeah?”
“Speaking of whom,” Levy wiggled a brow as Lucy rolled her eyes, drooping a towel over her shoulder and lifting her son up, patting his back as she began to burp him. “He asked you out, right?”
“Loke asks everyone out, Levy-chan. I’m in no place to date, nor would I let it be him.” She shuddered, content as her son let out a loud burp.
“I think you should still take advantage, get yourself some.” Lucy sputtered as her best friend cackled with a wicked laugh.
“Oh shut up! I don’t want any! Especially not with someone who takes care of my son, for heaven’s sake, Levy-chan!”
“Sure, sure. You’ll change your mind once you meet the right guy,”
“Sounds like you just want to brag about how happy you are with Gajeel.” Lucy stuck her tongue out as she picked up her bags and led them out of the apartment, Levy locking the door as they left.
“Maybe...” She puffed her reddened cheeks, grabbing the diaper bag from Lucy’s shoulder as they walked down to her car.
The ride to the daycare was only ten minutes from her home, Levy waiting next to the car as Lucy unbuckled Ryuu and grabbed his bag.
“You wait right here! I don’t want you saying anything weird.” She hissed to the blue-haired girl who only snickered and ushered her to walk into the child-care building.
“Good morning!” Lucy called from the front as she let herself in, walking toward the designated room for infants.
“Hey, Lucy, good morning.” Gray yawned as he met her inside the room, folding a stack of blankets in the corner of the room, Loke waving from the smaller playground outside. “And you too, Ryuu.”
“Sorry to ask you guys to take him early, I really appreciate it,” She said as she handed off the small boy, marveled in the sight of him smiling and lifting the baby above his head.
“No biggie, that’s what we’re here for. Has Ryuu eaten yet?” He asked, and Lucy nodded, handing him the virtual duffel bag as well.
“Some fruit and a bottle of milk, I mixed his lunch together too, and I put two bottles of milk in there for him. He was a little fussy last night, but his pacifier seems to calm him down a lot more if you don’t know why he’s crying.”
“He doesn’t cry when he’s with us,” Gray scoffed as Lucy feigned a nod, surprised as the door suddenly slid open behind her.
“Found the other blankets, they were in the wrong room,” A pink haired man grinned as he brought in the basket, his eyes catching Lucy’s for a moment.
“We just hired this loser, his name’s Natsu.” He gestured to the now scowling man who turned to the mother with a hand held out for greeting.
“He’s the loser, just so you know. Natsu Dragneel, nice ta meetcha!”
“Y-Yeah, nice to meet you too,” Her cheeks felt a bit hot as she stared at his charismatically wide grin, her attention soon stolen by her son waving his arms for the new teacher.
“Heya, squirt,” Natsu smiled to the baby as he took him from Gray’s hold, Ryuu instantly clinging to him.
“You must be really good with kids,” Lucy awed, her lip quivering a bit at the cute sight of her son leaning against his shoulder. “Ryuu never hugs people right away.”
“You got that right, better than that lame-o outside.” He snickered and pat the kid’s back. “Ryuu, huh? Looks like we’re gonna be friends from now on,”

My headcannon for Magne in Ragnarok - spoilers ahead for the series
First I was not going to post this but seeing such a big support for my Ragnarok drawing I thought I might as well try :’D (thank you for all the support btw)
In my mind Magne is not Thor. Reincarnated or otherwise. I know the story tries to let us to believe this is the case but the idea doesn't feel right to me.
I do think he is related to the thunder god however. In fact my headcannon/theory is that Magne is Thor's son. (I am not sure I can call this a headcanon though since I find there's too many coincidences that line up but in lack of a better word that is what I'll call it :'D)
I have a few reasons to believe this is the case - I will separate them into two categories: reasons found in the myth of Ragnarok (aka the myth the series is based on) and breadcrumbs found in the show
(Also I would like to add I am using the Danish names for the gods so they might sound/look different form the Norse or English spelling)
First - the myth
As with many myths there's a few different versions of the apocalypse in Norse Mythology. The one I know sees the gods fight the jutton(Danish: jætte) which will be the downfall for most but not all Gods - the god of light, Balder and his blind brother Høder are said to survive. So is two of Thor's sons that is now in possession of his hammer, Mjølner. Now one of these sons are called Magni and If you've watched the show or the trailer you probably know where I am going with this - more info will arrive under the series breakthrough
Another important note to make about Ragnarok the myth - and Norse mythology in general - is that the world and time along with it is circular eg. a known symbol within Norse mythology is the snake eating its own tail. In short while Ragnarok is said to be the end of the gods (the aesir/ Danish: aser) it doesn't mean it will be end of all: the version of the myth found in the Edda tells that when Ragnarok is over the world will be born anew to be godless and ruled by nature. This would make sense in the story since the world is our modern one, one where nature indeed ruled until mankind tamed nature.
If saying this is the case I believe this is not meant to be the first Ragnarok that we see: maybe not even the second since everything repeats itself
Secondly - the series
To sum the series in one sentence it follows young Magne (this is especially close to Magni if you say the name as an English person) and his brother moving into an old town in a little Norwegian city by the name of Edda (the importance of this city will arrive later).
We are told that the hammer that Magne throws in anger is in fact his dead father's hammer. Now it is also important to note here that Magne does indeed inherit this hammer like Magni did in the myth which might explain how he may as well have inherited his father's powers - if we say for argument sake the father is indeed Thor - as well.
While I believe we are told how Magne's father died (I've only watched the series once bear with me) the fact that Vidar compares Magne to his father before killing him makes me believe that the jutton was really the one killing of Magne's father. This  - while not being 100% accurate since in the myth Thor is killed with the world serpent - would make sense if indeed Thor was Magne's father killed off by juttons in the previous Ragnarok
I also find it very curious that Magne first sees his abilities manifest when he meets with the old lady we later learn to be a völva (Danish: vølve) - a fortuneteller in Norse Mythology who phophecized the comings of Ragnarok - in the city of Edda. To those of you who don't know Edda has given the name to the most famous of texts about Norse Mythology - that I also mentioned earlier - the Edda, sometimes grouped into the Old and New Edda.
Going back to Vidar and his family of juttons I cannot help but wonder about the fact that they call Magne one of the old ones talking about how long it has been since they'd met any of his kind and thought them extinct. Following my theory this could refer to the fact that previous Ragnarok has happened a long time ago and since then Vidar, Ran and their kids has not met or interacted with any aesir.
This also feeds nice into the idea of the world being the one after Ragnarok since the problems tackled in the show have to do with nature, polution and global warming
So by having Magne as the only one of the old ones - and I do believe he is deep down at least a bit aesir - it makes sense that he when the juttons speaks Old Norse to Magne at one point he understands and speaks it fluently although we learn within the first ten minutes or so of the show that Magne is dyslexic and over all he not good with language :'D
Thank you for listening to my Ted Talk x'D I hope I didn't bore you too much giving my take on why I believe Magne is meant to be Thor's son Magni x'D
Although I do not see Magne being Thor I kind of like the idea of Lauritz being Loki/Loke - it could even work in this context since Loki is known as the trickster god and my brain seem to forget how he is meant to die at Ragnarok so let’s for fun say that Loki found a way to trick his death we would now still be alive and/or reincarnated into the Seier family; maybe without Magne even knowing that his brother is a three thousand + year old god

Pride Month Fiction: The Checkered Shirt of Benny Khoo and the Salmon Sampin of Adam Tan by Kok Fuk Hoe
Tumblr media
Finally, I got to know Mr Benny. The one Ms Sophia praised over and over during my interview.
It was the first day of school. Teachers and students were coming in and out from the staffroom but I couldn’t be bothered. Things were piling up on my plate. However, I was eager to find out about Mr Benny. Ms Sophia, the human resource manager, had told me about him while explaining my contract—apparently Mr Benny was the only teacher offered a permanent position before the six-month probation. He seemed to possess some supreme teaching methods that wowed his students—he managed to nail a place in this distinguished school in just two months!
This morning I was thrilled—his name plate sat on the table behind mine. I was sure when he came in, he would notice someone new. Even more so when I was sitting right behind him, back to back.
I felt the chair behind me lean against mine. I smiled and got ready to expect some welcome, maybe a grin and motivation. But nothing happened. I stood up and turned around.
“Hi, I am Adam. Nice to know you. I am the new teacher.” I proffered my hand to the back of his head.
He was eating yoghurt and looking at his laptop screen. I reached out for his shoulder. He stiffened, frowned and darted a glance at my hand. He didn’t seem to like talking to me. But darn it, I had expected him to talk to me.
I withdrew my hand; I had been too forward. Then he got up. He went to the fridge and came back with another yoghurt. I stood looking like an idiot.
Then he turned around, looked at me, and shook my hand, limply. “Nice to know you too, and…Welcome to the school.”
I smiled a thanks despite the rudeness. “I teach English as a Second Language for the Year 8 classes. How about you?”
“Year 9. English as a First Language.” Benny remained straight-faced as he stuck one earphone into an ear.
His etiquette fazed me. “Ms Sophia kept mentioning your name during my interview. You must be a very famous teacher.”
“Nah, they’re just exaggerating. You just do what you have to do.”
His replies were short and he didn’t care to talk more. His eyes kept going back to his screen; he wanted to continue watching ice hockey. I quickly ended our conversation and turned back to my desk. I felt cheated by Ms Sophia’s description. This Mr Benny was worse than his yoghurt. At least yoghurt tasted sour— he was just plain cold.
*
It wasn’t hard to glean more about Mr Benny since we worked in the same department and shared the same staffroom. Except for his gravelly Canadian accent (I loved it!), I found out he was just weird.
Benny usually clocked in fifteen minutes later than me. He would have a cup of black coffee—those paper cup instant coffee from 7-Eleven—and some sandwich made of wheat bread. His breakfast routine had to be accompanied by watching his favourite ice hockey show. Finishing his food, he would pump two drops of sanitiser to clean his hand. He never joined anyone for lunch; he brought some delicate-looking meals in a jar, or some steamed corn, or some purplish salad, and of course, there was this cleaning his hand with sanitiser after his meals.
I had never seen him go to a toilet. All he did was teach in the classroom or sit in his cubicle watching ice hockey or sometimes marking exercise books. Mr Benny didn’t talk much to anyone. He would skip reliefs or after-school meetings. And the strangest thing? No one dared talk about this to him. Not even the Head of Secondary.
I couldn’t hide my curiosity about this Chinese Canadian guy. As soon as I adapted to the school, I started asking around about him.
“Why is Benny never joining us for lunch? It is free though.”
“I guess he can’t adapt to Malaysian food. He is an ang mo lah! The foreigners’ stomach can’t hold our curry and spices,” Mr Loke answered. He had straggly hair, taught mathematics.
“But he has been here for seven years and his wife is Malaysian. He should be able to adapt to the food here. It’s not like the school is cooking spicy food all the time. He can eat Chinese food. He is a Chinese after all. Come on,” Mr Goh chimed in, while serving a spoonful of chap chye into his mouth. He was artistic, taught arts and craft.
“He is a C-A-N-A-D-I-A-N, Mr Goh. It is more atas or high-class to be identified that way,” Mr Loke scoffed, failing to hide his sarcasm.
“I guess his wife prepares his food then?”
“Oh yes. His wife worked in this school last time but she resigned after they married. She is a nyonya,” Mr Loke continued to tell me more.
I frowned, I couldn’t understand how Benny’s life worked. “But Peranakan food is made up of tonnes of local spices and is mostly spicy and pungent in smell. So how did he survive the marriage?”
“Adui, Adam, you single people won’t understand this. You will do everything if you are in love. And obviously in his case, his wife loves him more than he does. And come to think of it, it actually saves a lot of time to prep him an overnight oat rather than cooking a decent meal. No one loves cooking these days. Not even my wife,” Mr Goh continued chewing the school food.
Mr Loke ranted, “His wife is the one who chased after him last time. I can’t deny that when I first knew Benny, his Canadian accent really attracted me but well, I am a man. But Jesus, I had no fucking idea that he is so lazy. He skips meetings and events, and he doesn’t even care about his homeroom. Handsome guy is pretty useless, huh?”
“But why the school likes him so much?”
“I don’t know. Maybe he is an ang mo?”
Or maybe it was because of his Canadian accent.
Or maybe Benny looked extremely hot for an Asian: only five feet tall, slim, inimitable foreign accent. God, he looked hot in Doc Martens leather boots. Could Asians carry it off with leather?
Or maybe Benny was hot because he didn’t give a fuck about anything in the school. I guessed you’d look cool when everyone was busy pleasing the students, parents and management and you decided not to follow the trend. Instead you just acted like a real man. And real man takes risks. And Benny was a real man.
Or maybe he fucked Ms Sophia? Was Ms Sophia his wife? Because it would make sense since Ms Sophia was always raving about him being an awesome teacher and whatnot. Or maybe Ms Kelly, our Head of Department. Or Ms Vijay, the Head of Secondary.
I didn’t know the answers.
*
A week before the midterm-cum-Raya holidays, I decided to put on a black baju Melayu. I matched it with a salmon sampin, and completed my look with a songkok. I looked like a real Malay whenever I put on the costumes because of my skin colour.
I am a Chinese as you can tell from my name, Adam Tan. However, my dark skin is not a result of sunburn or sun tan. I inherited this beautiful skin colour from my Chinese and Indonesian Chinese ancestors. We are the Chinese Peranakan, or the baba nyonya, an ethnic group fast disappearing because people no longer cross cultures.
It is confusing and sometimes, shocking, to not know how to respond to an entity that doesn’t truly belong to anyone and anywhere. Just like Benny—he was Chinese Canadian but he didn’t know how to speak Chinese like Mr Loke and Mr Goh. He married a Malaysian but had problems eating Malaysian food. And the most confusing thing was, he spoke good English. Asians don’t speak good English, they say.
Thus, everyone liked to stay the same because it was easier that way. Even in the workplace. Except Benny, of course.
Everyone was at the lounge, laughing, taking pictures and chit-chatting away. There was no food; it was still five days away before our Muslim colleagues stopped observing fasting and celebrated the Raya celebration.
As usual, Benny was never keen to join in the fun. He didn’t care about celebrations. I was surprised he put an appearance now. He had put on his usual checkered shirt—this time, in black and white—and leather boots. I ignored him and turned my back to him.
Someone patted my shoulder. I turned around and was taken aback to find Benny talking to me. To little old Adam.
“Hey Adam, you look exceptionally sharp today.” I was still in shock, I couldn’t process his words suddenly.
“Oh yeah. Thank you. Have you tried wearing such a costume? It is comfortable.” I smiled, awkwardly, like a little child.
“No. I never wore them before.”
“You should try one day. It is—”
“Hey Adam, I need a favour from you.”
I knew it. He was up to no good. He talked to me simply because he needed something.
“How can I help you?” My face had changed from awkward to looking flustered.
He looked hesitant for a moment. “My car broke down this morning and I couldn’t go back today.”
“You want me to send you back?” I was one step close to exploding if the answer was yes.
“No. Can I stay at your place before my wife picks me up this evening? I heard that you are living somewhere around Puchong. I stay in Puchong. You don’t have to send me back.”
My anger diminished. At least he knew it would be a bad idea for me to send him back. He was never part of us, and he never wanted it, I guess.
*
I had just entered my room when Benny knocked on my door.
“Do you need anything? If not, let me change myself before I—”
Benny pressed his lips onto mine. They were soft and moist. I kissed him back, like a hungry beast, devouring his saliva, tongue, and lips. My cock in my pants was filling up with blood.
But I pulled back. “What the fuck is this, Benny?” I was huffing and puffing from the kiss.
“I knew you like me.” The sentence sounded racy in his ang mo accent.
“How did you know?”
“I just know.” He looked down. “Are those stains from your cum? Imagining me fucking you every night?” He sneered. “You do, don’t you?”
Benny hoisted me with strong hands and threw me onto the bed. Why was this happening? But, fuck, was I going to savour this moment. I licked my lips as Benny’s body—and his dick—hunkered over me.
Benny tore at the buttons from his shirt, and hurled his clothes to the floor. This was the first time I saw his body—lean and fit. His nipples were big and dark, and there was hair all the way down from his belly button to the place I wanted to visit the most. Sexy.
He straddled my lithe body, and unravelled my tight sampin. He leaned down and I savoured his kiss, and breathed in his body odour. I wasted no time fumbling at his belt—I wanted to taste his dick.
Soon, my sampin was flung to the floor. And in no time, my baju Melayu, sampin, and undies, along with his shirts and pants, decorated the floor. I felt masculinity suffuse me—the tight stomach squashing me, the hard pecs, the nipples, the big balls. I reached down to grip him—his dick was huge. What a contradiction from his slender body—was that why he attracted us? I was dying to suck his dick, like a hungry baby craving for tits.
I moaned, breathed heavily, my body arched up, twitching—his fingers were caressing my nipples, pulling them, twisting them. I stroked my dick while his thick shaft stayed in my mouth. He thrust his dick against my mouth. When he drew it out, I licked the purplish head. Was I tasting my saliva or his pre-cum? At this rate I didn’t care—my pre-cum had doused my dick, I couldn’t wait to have Benny in me.
Benny flipped me over. He was ready with a condom. He must have come prepared with it in his pants pocket. He rolled it over his cock with skill. (And practice?) He held my legs up in the air. I begged him to shove it in. I needed pounding. Hard.
I moaned louder. I couldn’t stop crying out his name. I had never felt anything this intense. Not since becoming a teacher, a job that drained my energy having to man up all the time in front of the classroom. Now, I wanted to be punished. I wanted to be conquered. My body longed to be controlled and Benny was doing a great job. (I nearly giggled—as good a job as his teaching.)
I moaned every time Benny pounded into me and slapped my butt and uttered nasty words. Slut. Horny dog. Slave, Benny my master. I begged for more. This was my primal self. I needed an alpha male (with a sexy Canadian accent) to take charge, especially in bed. As if agreeing to submit, my dick rose higher, grew harder. Its hole overflowed every time Benny’s gigantic dick locked fiercely and tightly into my asshole. I didn’t mind dying under such circumstances. I was blessed to be pounded by such a huge dick—more so as its owner was skilled.
It seemed surreal when we both reached orgasm together. We huffed and gasped for air, surfacing for consciousness after shooting loads of cum. Benny didn’t pull his dick out; he remained inside, lying on top of me. I hugged and kissed him, feeling his heartbeat synchronising with mine. Between the layer of his sweat and my cum, I knew I wanted him.
“Why this?” I asked. “Why now?”
“You looked sexy in your sampin today. And I just wanted to fuck you. I love exotic creatures.” Benny grinned.
“Wow, I am offended, Benny. My sampin is short because I am single. Those who are married will wear their sampin below the knees. I don’t mean to look sexy.” And with mock offense, “I am not some exotic creature.”
“Well, that’s why I am attracted to you, little Adam. You look cute whenever you are annoyed.”
Benny kissed my lips. I knew we were alike—misfit, eccentric, offbeat. We didn’t really belong anywhere, or maybe the universe had yet to categorise people like us since we could be anything and everything we wanted to be. Benny didn’t give a shit about anything and I too didn’t give a shit about everything.
And this meant one thing: Benny wouldn’t give a shit about our status after this evening.
*
It was the first day of school after the holidays. I arrived at 5.30a.m. as usual, and it was dark.
I walked down the corridor. I saw the staffroom was already lit up. Someone had come in earlier.
I walked towards the staffroom. Two silhouettes were framed behind the glass door. I held my breath and slowed my footsteps. I didn’t want to alert these figures.
I leaned nearer to the door, squinted into the half-lit room. To my horror, I made out Benny humping someone at the lounge.
Damn it, I knew it. He didn’t give a fuck about anything. He would fuck anything. I clenched my fist. Who was that under him?
I couldn’t see; the lounge was not in the light. All I could make out was Benny’s top half.
I stood on tiptoes, and stretched my neck to see if a girl or boy. It was all shadows but I could spy Benny’s dick moving in and out between the legs.
But wait, where were Benny’s legs? He was standing, wasn’t he?
Benny turned around and locked eyes with me. They were dark and hollow. He smirked and the lights went off.

The Witch's Familiar
TITLE: The Witch’s Familiar CHAPTER NO./ONE SHOT: Chapter 15/? AUTHOR: nekoamamori ORIGINAL IMAGINE: Imagine getting so attached to Lokitty early on that you insist on carrying him just about everywhere.  RATING: T (so far) NOTES/WARNINGS: Also on AO3 Click here
    When you woke, you expected to find Loki sleeping propped against the pillows having fallen asleep while reading, or maybe with his back to you, curled adorably. Instead, you had apparently rolled over in your sleep, he was at your back, curled protectively around you, purring softly as he slept, a very happy protective big spoon. Your head was pillowed on his arm, his other arm around your waist. Even his tail was curled over you, draped across your legs. You didn’t want to wake him, he was so peaceful and adorable, and you felt so safe and happy with him guarding your back.
    But it was morning and there were things to do. Especially when you alarm started blaring, ruining the moment. Loki jumped awake as you reached over him to shut off the alarm. “Sorry, Lokitty,” you told him gently. He sat up, flushed when he’d realized that you’d slept cuddling, how…scandelous. You laughed at his awkward, shy reaction and tilted his head toward you so you could kiss the perfect spot between his cat ears.
    “Thank you for keeping me company last night,” you told him warmly. “I feel much better knowing that we were both safe,” he still seemed embarrassed, so you darted forward and licked his nose. He spluttered a protest and rubbed his wet nose dry indignantly, while you laughed. “Relax, Loki. There’s no shame in cuddling or spending a night together in sleep. I know you’re shy, but you should know by now I’m not going to be offended, besides I thought Asgardians were more….open…. in their affections,” you pried, wondering why he kept getting so shy around you.
    “We are,” he finally admitted softly after a long pause. He seemed to steel himself before he continued. “But Midgardians are not…and Midgardians of the era you were raised…”
    You laughed again, finally realizing what he was getting at. “Lokitty, yes, I’m 500 years old, but I’m also a witch. We adapt to the world and the culture around us, it’s how we survive. We’re also a lot more open in our affections than the humans, in case you hadn’t noticed, silly trickster,” you teased and he finally relaxed and gave you a smile. “I wouldn’t have invited you to stay if I minded. I promise I’ll tell you if I’m uncomfortable with something. Though I appreciate your concern,” you added quickly.
    “I do not wish for you to be uncomfortable,” he finally said softly. It was nice that he cared about your feelings and would take the time to try to find out how your were raised. He wasn’t just trying to push himself on you like so many other males had.
    You kissed his forehead before you climbed out of the bed. “You’re one of the good ones, Lokitty” you told him warmly. You saw his shocked expression that anyone would say that and you smiled more brightly. You waved your hand, dissipating your half of the shielding around the room. “I’ll see you at breakfast,” you told Loki as you were gathering clean clothes to change into. He was getting up to leave to get ready for the day too. “Thanks again for last night.” He’d hadn’t had to walk you home, or stay to make sure you were safe.
    He kissed your forehead. “Any time, darling.” With a warm smile, he left your room. You showered and dressed quickly. Loki wasn’t waiting outside for you, so you went down to find breakfast.
    Instead you found Thor roaring as he lifted Loki by the throat to hold him against the nearest wall. The noise that came out of Loki’s throat could only be described as a yowl of protest as he fought against Thor’s grip on his throat. “WHERE WERE YOU? I TRUSTED YOU!” Thor was roaring. Loki was fighting for air almost instantly, Thor was crushing his windpipe.
    “Thor!” you yelled, running over to diffuse the situation. “What are you doing? Put him down!” you demanded. Loki had summoned a blade, which Thor ripped out of his hand and threw across the room. It lodged itself in a wall. You tried to shove Thor backward to get him to put Loki down before he lost all ability to breathe. But Thor was a wall of muscle and didn’t move because a tiny girl pushed him. He grabbed you and tried to push you behind him to safety.
    “You were supposed to be guarding Lady Y/N from your room. I stressed how important it was. Someone snuck in last night. You’re damn lucky we caught him before he got upstairs to the Lady you claim to care for. Where were you?” Thor demanded again, roaring.
    You drew your wand and held it to Thor’s throat. “Thor, drop him! He was with me last night. All night. He wasn’t in his room because he was in mine!” you told Thor firmly. Loki made a choking sound. Shit. You didn’t want to blast Thor, but he wasn’t leaving you much of a choice.
    “You swear it?” Thor demanded.
    “Yes, now put him down!” your growled, sparks flaring at the end of your wand. Thor’s grip loosened and Loki slid down the wall, back to his feet, coughing. “Thor, you ass. You could’ve just asked,” you snarled as you turned to Loki to check out the damage. He obligingly, silently, tiled his head back so you could see the purple bruise on his throat.
    “I did. He would not say where he was or how you had been guarded,” Thor replied, more calmly now that he had the story.
    You placed your hand on the bruise to begin the healing. Loki winced. “Sorry, love, sorry,” you told him softly. “But you are a stubborn god,” you scolded him gently. You raised your voice again to address Thor. “Of course he didn’t tell you, oaf,” you grumped at Thor. “it would be unbelievably dishonorable for him to advertise that he had spent the night in the bed of a lady he is not related to, married to, or officially courting,” you reminded Thor hotly. You saw Loki glaring over you at his brother.
    “My apologies. I should have known-” Thor should have known that Loki wouldn’t shirk his duty or besmirch your honor or reputation. Not that you felt sharing a sleeping space with your best friend did either of those things, but you were touched that he had cared.
    “You should have,” you agreed with Thor. To Loki you added “Lokitty, please remember that no one around his gives a shit about propriety, especially if the question is whether you guarded someone, not if you had sex with them,” you reminded the stubborn, too honorable, trickster as you finished on his throat. “But thank you for trying to protect me from your idiot brother,” you kissed his cheek.
    Before he could do anything more than hug you to him and kiss the top of your head, a call came over the PA. “Suit up!” called Cap’s voice. “There’s a ton of monsters attacking downtown.
    You grabbed Thor’s arm, Loki’s were still around you, and teleported the three of you up to the flight deck. “Loki, we have to fly in. If we teleport, the team will blast us first and ask questions later,” you reminded him while you all summoned your battle armor. You and Thor both held out your hands in an identical manner. Mjolnir flew to his hand and your broom flew to yours.
    “She’s right, brother,” Thor told Loki and offered Loki his hand.
    “I am not flying with you,” Loki told him coldly with a glare. “You forgot you had a passenger last time and dropped me. From quite a considerable height. I do not wish to repeat that experience,”
    “You can’t ride pillion. Remind me after this and I’ll teach you to ride a broom later. If you don’t want the ride from Thor, change forms and you can ride with me,” you told Loki quickly. There wasn’t time for arguments about how to get to the battle, but he couldn’t ride pillion without knowing how, plus you would lose a ton of speed, and he didn’t know how to ride a broom on his own. He nodded once and with a flash of green light was back in cat form. He leapt lightly into your arms and you caught him automatically. “I’ll meet you there,” you told Thor. He nodded, spun Mjolnir a couple of times, and was off. “This flight is not going to be fun for you. I swear I will not let you fall. Trust me, please, trust me,” you told Loki. He nodded once in agreement.
    You wrapped your left arm firmly around the cat, holding him tightly to your chest and ran for the edge of the platform, your broom held ready in the other. You dove spectacularly off of the roof to the terror of the cat clutched to your chest. You laid out flat against your broom as you dove headfirst for the ground. You were a skilled flier and pulled out of the dive at the last moment, impressing yourself with the ability to pull of a flawless Wronski Feint with only one hand, speeding toward the battle inches above traffic, nearly laying on your broom for speed, but not loosening your grip on Loki, who was being held remarkably like a quaffle. “Sorry, Lokes,” oops, somehow his name got shortened. He could yell at you later. “We had to get back down to the ground quickly. Your idiot brother throws off the air pressure when he flies and it’s too dangerous to fly further up while he’s playing with lightning and flying. I told you I wouldn’t let you fall,” you soothed as you sped toward the battle.
    You slowed slightly when you reached the battle. Iron Man and Hawkeye were trying to keep the battle contained. There were huge four-legged vaguely dog-shaped beasts and rock monster attacking the team and civilians. You loosened your grip on Loki and he leapt from your arms, returning to human-ish form before he hit the ground.
    “Be careful,” you called to Loki. He smiled at your concern as you hopped up on your broom to ride it like a skateboard, which usually gave you better versatility in battle.
    “Always, darling,” he replied warmly as he summoned a dagger, reviewing the battle for himself to see where he could help. He bid you to be careful as well.
    “Loki! Good, you’re here! The rock monsters are weak against ice!” Cap’s voice called in your ear. Loki blasted a nearby rock monster with a burst of ice and it shattered to pieces. “Y/N, Nat’s down,”
    “Where?” you called. You saw Nat’s distinctive hair and flew over to her. You stepped off your broom to kneel beside her and heal her. You stepped back up on your broom when that was done and flew around the battle, helping the others and blasting off bolts of magic at the monsters.
    You rounded up the last of the civilians and got them away from the battle with Clint and Cap covering you. One of the hellhounds grabbed your broom when you flew too low over it, blasting at it with magic. You toppled off of the broom, skidding along the asphalt until you could roll back to your feet. One of Loki’s clones was there in an instant, defending you and blasting the hellhound with a bolt of magic.
    “Are you alright?” he asked as you took down the hellhound together.
    “I’m fine, just a scrape,” you replied as your broom flew back to you. “Thanks for the assist!” The clone vanished when you were safely in the air again.
    “Y/N, slow these things down. We can’t get a clear shot on these hellhounds,” the four-legged beasts were fast, but they were grounded. You surveyed the battleground, noting everyone’s positions, most were already scrambling up onto something so they wouldn’t be on the ground. You saw Loki’s clones, and finally caught sight of the real one. You could always tell the difference since you could see his magic around the clones. You sped over to him, dropping down to sit on the broom again as you flew.
    “Loki!” You called as you reached a hand down to him. He reached his up automatically, and you pulled him up behind you on the broom. He jumped, helping you with the practiced movement of someone who was experienced in Legolas-jumping onto a horse in the middle of battle. He could ride pillion for this, you were just hovering, just above the battle. “Floor is lava, guys, hurry,” you called over the comm as you waved your wand and concentrated on the quicksand spell. Loki watched your back, blasting flying rocks with his magic while the team used their skills to take down the hellhounds from their perches.
    “Why did you come for me?” Loki asked while you focused on holding the spell, your arms shaking as you fought the wand to keep the spell going.
    “I figured you didn’t know the command ‘the floor is lava’,” you explained simply. “I didn’t want you caught up in the spell,” your voice was strained. “Guys, hurry,” you told them firmly. “I can’t hold this much longer,”
    “Hold on, kid. There’s a lot of these stupid hellhounds,” Tony called. You were just glad you didn’t have to watch your back while you hovered. Loki protected you both while you worked.
    “Keep it going!” Cap called too.
    “That’s not helping,” you snarled, cursing as you tightened your grip on the wand.
    “Hold on, love,” Loki told you softly. You felt him gather power and throw it at the trapped hellhounds. Between everyone, the hellhounds dropped a moment later. You were panting when you ended the quicksand spell.
    “I hate that spell, but it’s just so useful in battle,” you complained as you caught your breath, resettled your power, focused again on something besides that damn complicated spell.
    “Can you do ice magic too?” Loki asked, formulating a plan. You nodded, seeing where he was going with this.
    “I can. And don’t worry, I have power left,” you added before he could ask, or be concerned. It was a legitimate concern after the quicksand spell.
    “Land and we will get rid of these rock creatures together,” Loki told you.
    “Arrows are useless on those things!” Clint complained loudly. Cap was bashing one with his shield ineffectively. Nat’s bullets were equally useless. They just laughed when Thor tried lightning.
    You landed and dismounted. Loki took your free hand in one of his cold hand, power twining between you the moment your hands touched. You smiled and slapped your wand back on your wrist, out of the way. You had to do magic Loki’s way for you to work together. It was no trouble to do so. You held your free hand out in front of you and Loki mirrored your movement so your palms were facing each other, both of you working without words on the same spell. It was an impressive feat of working together. A blue ball of ice magic began to form between your palms.
    “Loki!” You heard Thor’s call, but you both ignored him. The team surrounded you as you worked, the ball of magic growing and growing between you. Once it had grown to the right size, you threw it up into the air. You both threw a bolt of magic at it and it exploded, sending shards of ice into the rock monsters, taking them out. You shivered as the remnants of the ball of ice made it start snowing over you and Loki.
    You turned to Loki and saw that he was blue again, his Jotun form had taken over while he was using so much ice magic. “Poor Lokitty,” you teased him gently, your voice warm and your smile gentle. “Can’t play in the cold without turning blue,”
    He laughed at your gentle teasing, your acceptance of him no matter what he looked like, and his form shimmered back to normal, adorable cat-ears and all. “That is why I usually do not use ice during battles, but today…”
    “It was the only thing that worked on those rock things. Good job,” Cap told him warmly. Loki looked like he didn’t understand the praise. Poor baby.
    He wrapped an arm around your shoulders, yours was around his waist, both of you pretending that you were less drained than you really were. No one commented. Nat and Clint were in basically the same pose and Bruce was hiding behind a car to put on pants. Everyone was scraped and bruised and Clint somehow had a head wound. You waved your wand in his direction to seal the wound so it would stop bleeding. He nodded his thanks.
    “Stark, where is the location for the revelries?” Thor asked as he joined your gathering of superheros. He clapped you and Loki both on the shoulder and congratulated your impressive ice spell.
    SHIELD was coming to clean up the mess. Your job here was done.
    “Jarvis?” Tony asked the AI who kept a list of restaurants for post-mission dining.
    “There is a gyro restaurant-” Jarvis replied and rattled off more details.
    “Sounds like a winner,” Nat was already pulling out her phone to get the location from Jarvis. You stood up on your own and grabbed your broom, throwing it over your shoulder. Cap secured his shield to his back and Thor attached Mjolnir to his belt. All of the weapons were stashed as you mobilized to find food.
    “Whoever taught you that flying includes jumping headfirst off of a building should be punished. Severely,” Loki told you as the group trudged wearily to the gyro restaurant. Your hand was somehow in his. You couldn’t remember that happening, nor were you inclined to change it…
    You laughed. “I told you I wasn’t going to drop you. I grew up riding brooms since I was a toddler and played sports on broomstick. I daresay that makes me a fair flyer. You probably grew up riding horses the same way,” you reminded him. “I saw that move when you leapt onto my broom during battle. I used to ride horses when I was a kid too and used that maneuver more than once. I’ll teach you how to fly on your own…” he shuddered and shook his head.
    “I don’t think I’m cut out for flying,” he protested quickly. You laughed at his reaction.
    “What are you going to do the next time we have to rush into battle?”
    “Pray that my lady flies in a more reasonable manner,” he replied dryly. “It is still preferable to riding with Thor…”
    “Oi, furball, if you don’t want the press seeing your ears, you may want to hide them,” Clint’s voice was teasing, but his concern was real. He liked Loki and knew as well as any of you that Loki was shy, especially around the public.
    “They would have already seen,” Tony added dryly, which the entire team glared at him for. “You know the press loves watching us fight things.” Loki blanched and stiffened.
    “It’s ok,” you told him gently, though you glared at Tony. “Their opinions don’t matter,” you reminded him kindly. He nodded and relaxed a little, raising your hand to his lips to kiss the back of it, wordlessly thanking you for your reassurance. He didn’t bother hiding his cat-ears or tail, since the team didn’t mind them.
    You all trudged into the gyro shop. Tony ordered food for the table while you all claimed seats around a few tables you shoved together. No one complained that you were rearranging the furniture, or covered in battle grime and blood. They didn’t complain when all of your weapons ended up on a pile on a spare table, including Loki’s golden helmet and your broomstick. The owners took a picture of the iconic arrangement to hang up on their wall. You all signed it when the picture was printed out. You were all polite, if tired, and the press had swarmed, so the restaurant would get good press and a huge increase in sales. Also Tony way overpaid for the meal. It was tradition after all.
    You sat around the table, eating gyros, discussing the battle. Nat and Clint had somehow appropriate half of the other’s chairs, Bruce devoured his weight in gyros, Thor did too. You and Loki ate, half dozed on the other. Cap and Tony were talking across the ends of the table. Loki looked so joyed to be included and accepted. He looked even moreso to receive praise from the team.

Karaoke Kraze
Lucy, Cana, and Levy have been friends since childhood.  Home for the summer from college they head to their favorite club to drink, sing, and just party the night away.  Levy’s boyfriend Gajeel brings his friends along but Lucy’s lyrical enchantments quickly leaves his younger cousin Natsu spellbound....
Chapter 1 of 10: The Voice
It’s nearly 7pm on a Saturday night in June as the three best friends all stand around one of the mirrors in Lucy's bathroom.  Sure, there are others they could use in her changing area but it's always more fun when they get ready together.
This is the first time in about 3 months since they’ve been able to hang out like this; each busy with college.  But every summer break when they come home to Magnolia their focus is on catching up and having fun like there were no cares in the world.  And tonight, was no exception, nothing was gonna stop them from heading to their favorite hangout spot; the Fairytail Karaoke Bar & Nightclub.
"Lucy quit hogging the mirror!" Levy whines, "It’s not like you need it."
Her friend was right; the beautiful blonde could turn heads just wearing sweatpants and a hoodie.  Over the years her girlfriends just put up with all the attention their friend received because they knew her better; she's never really cared for any of the guys who've worked up the courage to ask her out.  Not because many weren't handsome or rich since most of them were, but mainly because they only looked at her appearance and that's not what she was looking for in a real man.
"Levy your just as adorable."  She pinches her friend’s cheek eliciting a squeal from the girl.  "Besides, you've already got a boyfriend so who are you trying to impress?"
Humph!  She crosses her arms, "So, maybe I like it when guys still check me out!"
"Uh, you Naughty girl!" Lucy shrieks
"Isn't Gajeel gonna meet you there tonight?  Or are you trying to make him jealous?"
Levy smirks, "Maybe...   It makes the night games even spicier."  Cana and Lucy's jaws drop; their mousy, bookworm little friend sure has changed since she started dating this guy.
"My hero!"  Cana puts her arms around Levy’s shoulders.  "Where have you been all this time!"
Blushing, "So, um, he's gonna have a few friends with him too."
"Oh yeah, are they hot friends?!" The brunette wiggles her eyebrows
"I’m not sure whose coming.”
"Well I hope so, maybe Lucy here will finally get some action!"
Tch  “You might be getting too much action Cana!  Try settling down for once."
Placing a hand on her hip, she cocks it to the side, "Oh please, life's too short, I'm still young, and I wanna have fun."  She retorts in a serious tone.
Levy and Lucy look at each other smirking when all three start singing and waving their hands in the air, "Oooh, Girl's just wanna have Fu-un, Ooohh girls just wanna haaave fun!"  Erupting into a giggling fit at the end.
Turning back to the full-length mirror, “So, do you guys think this is too revealing?”  Lucy inquires of her friends as she smooth’s down the skirt and checks herself over.  “I still wanna be able to dance without anything bunching.”
“If anything, I think it’s not revealing enough,” Cana not so coyly replies as she pulls at the halter top and pokes at Lucy’s breasts.  “Show off more of these!”
“No way, I don’t need those falling out!”  Sigh, “They are such a pain sometimes.”  Turning back to the mirror she poses a couple more times.  The simple but elegant red halter top dress she chose was cut in the middle and with her sizable boobs, plus an open back, there was plenty of skin up top to reveal.  The skirt was loose fitting, good for dancing, but short barely reaching her mid thighs.  Lucy worried it was too short but as long as she was careful she should be okay.  With a pair of black 5inch heels at the end of her long silky white legs the girl was stunning.
As Lucy and Cana primp and strike poses in the mirror Levy’s cell phone rings.  “Hey Gajeel… Yeah we’re leaving in a few to head to the club… Alright we’ll save a booth… How many..  okay.  What time are you guy’s…  We’ll see you there… I Love you too.  Bye.”
She turns around to let her friends know about the group when she sees them making kissy faces at her.  “Ooh I love you Gajeel.”  Cana wraps her arms around herself and starts to imitate the sounds of sloppy kisses.
“Cana!”  She shrieks; her face heating up as images of her and Gajeel making out pop into her mind.
“Ah” Lucy points out giggling, “She is thinking about it!!”
“Guys quit it!  You better not mess with me tonight, I don’t wanna be embarrassed!”
“Oh, lighten up Levy!”  Lucy teases her friend, “It’s just us in here.”   “So, what’d he say?”
“They’ll get there around 8:30-9, and there’s 5 of them so he said find a big enough booth.”
“I don’t think we’ll all fit in one booth, but I’m sure Mira will just give us the VIP section, I’ll call on the way there.”
“Sooorry, Miss influential,” Cana snickers
“Whatever, we’re all friends and she always take’s care of us.”
“Then why are we still standing around in here!  I wanna get my drink on!”  The brunette puts her arms around her friend’s shoulders and leads them out of the room.
“I’ll text Gajeel on the way there to find us in the VIP section.”
“It’s Time to party girls!”  Lucy squeals
As the black Bentley limo pulls up in front of Club Fairytail, one of the security guards named Al Connell opens the car's door for them.  Lucy instructs her driver Capricorn that she’ll call when they’re ready to leave.  He nods and wishes them a good evening as the three girls exit the vehicle.
“I can never get used to riding in that thing.  Lu I don’t know how you mind the attention.”
She shrugs her shoulders, “I just grew up with it being normal.”
“Well I looove the attention,” Cana grins and waves her fingers at a few decent looking guys staring at them.
“Come on,” Lucy drags her drooling friend towards the door’s bouncer.  “Hey Elfman!”
“Hey girls; back for more I see.”
“You know it!”
“Mira’s already got the VIP section ready for you guys.  Is there anyone else in your group still coming?”
“Yeah, my boyfriend Gajeel, do you remember him?”
“The guy with the facial piercings?”
“That’s him,” Levy blushes, “and four more of his friends will be with him.”
“I’ll direct 'um to you guys when they get here.  You girls have fun tonight.”  He opens the door for them.
“Thanks, Elfman.”
They head straight for a roped off section that has a reserved sign next to it.  A girl with short white hair reaches them just as they are about to sit down.  “Hi Lisanna, how’s everything going with you and Bixlow?”
“We’re doing great, he finally proposed to me last month.”
“Really, congratulations!”
“Thanks.  So, what can I start you off with?”
“I think our usual’s, right?”  Lucy looks at the other two and they nod, “Oh and could you bring us the karaoke book?”
The girl smiles, “Already got it.” She hands the book to Lucy.  “I know your routine already, Karaoke then dancing.  I’ll be back shortly with your drinks.”
“You’re the bomb Lis!”  Cana yells after her.
Lisanna puts in their orders with the bartender, her brother-in-law Laxus.  It doesn’t take long since he also anticipated their usual’s and soon the girls are half way into their first round.
“So, what should we sing?”  Levy asks with the paper and pen in her hand, “We’ve got about an hour till they get here so we need about 7-10 songs.”  She enjoys hanging out when they come here to sing, but she rarely participates, saying that Lucy has the nicest voice and Cana, well Cana just likes to be a part of any action.
The three girls huddle around the song book and start pointing out songs for Levy to write down.  Mostly fun ones to sing but Lucy pick’s a couple of slower love songs as well.  Her friends tease her that those are All hers as usual.  She tries to plead for them to at least sing back up, but they reply no guarantees.  “Fine,” she huffs, “I still don’t know why you won’t sing them with me.”
“Because we can’t pull them off like you.  Duh!”
Lisanna returns with their second round and they hand her their list of songs.  This section has its own karaoke set up so Lisanna programs the songs for them.  Cana and Lucy eagerly grab the mics and stand up in front of the screen ready for the first song to come on; ‘Love Shack’ by the B52’s.  “Okay you got the girls part.”  Cana winks at Lucy who giggles, “Kay.”
C- “If you see a faded sign at the side of the road that says 15 miles to the…” L- “Looooove Shack!  Love Shack, yeah, yeah.  I’m headin down the Atlanta highway… Lookin; for a looove getawayyy.  Headed for the looove getawayyy.”
Both girls start imitating 70’s & 80’s styles of dances like the disco finger, the bump, and of course the ‘Love Shack’ dance move; bopping around and having a blast with the music.  Even Levy can’t resist, joining them during the choruses.
C- “Knock a little louder, baby.” L- “bang, bang, Bang, on the door baby…” C- “I can’t hear you.” L- “Bang, Bang, Bang, on the door baby…” C- “Knock a little louder, sugar.” L- “BANG, BANG” C- “On the door, baby.” L- “BANG, BANG” C- “On the door baby!.” L- “BANG, BANG!” C- “Your What!?” L- “Tiiiinnn roof, Rusted.”  “Love Shaaack, that’s where it’s at.  Love Shaaack, that’s where it’s at.” C- “At the Lo-o-ove Shack…”
Levy starts clapping enthusiastically as the two girls plop down on the couch and gulp their drinks; luckily Lisanna anticipates their routine and is already on her way with the next round.  Over the next hour they sing to their hearts content, even growing a small crowd of mostly guys cheering them on.
Gajeel and his friends all pull up around 8:25pm and head into the club.  Elfman opens the door and directs them to the VIP section, “Just follow the singing, I can hear Lucy right now.”
“Who’s Lucy again?”  Questions Gray
“She’s one of my girl’s best friends.”
“Are they nice, Juvia hopes she will get along with them?”
“Oh yeah, their cool, you already know Levy so just talk to her if not.  I’m pretty sure the other two will be dancing most of the time anyways.”
“Are they hot?!” drools Loke, their playboy friend.
“Gehe, you’ll like Cana, she’s just like you, loves to party and isn’t looking for a serious relationship.”
“Sounds like my kind of woman!”
As the other four in the group just chat along the way, Natsu’s pace slows.  Silently wrapped up in his own thoughts, soaking up the words and her voice wafting through the air; ‘So this is Lucy we’re hearing....My God her voice is just so beautiful….’
“… Two by two their bodies become one…….  I see you through the smoky air.  Can’t you feel the weight of my stare…  You’re so close but still a world away…..  What I’m dying to say, is that I’m crazy for you.  Touch me once and you’ll know it’s true.  I never wanted anyone like this….”
Gray turns to say something to Natsu when he realizes his friend is trailing behind, “Oi Natsu, you coming?”  Looking more carefully he sees the dazed expression in his best friend’s face. “Dude, what’s the matter with you?”
“Her voice is just….  There are no words to describe it…”
“Huh?  Oh, you mean that Lucy chick whose singing, you don’t even know what she looks like; she could be ugly...”
Natsu cuts him off.  “With a voice like that….”  He looks at his friend, “You don’t gotta wait up for me I’ll catch up.” “Slowly now we begin to move.  Every breath I’m deeper into you… Soon we two are standing still in time.  If you read my mind….”
“Whatever man.  We’re heading to the bar first to grab our drinks.  I’ll see you at the table.”
“Yeah sure,” Natsu mutters as he continues towards the voice, drawn to it like a moth to a flame.   “It’s all brand new, I’m crazy for you.  And you know it’s true…”
Making his way through the small crowd she finally comes into view.  His heart stops and feet plant locked to the floor.   He can’t believe what his eyes are trying to tell him… This girl, with the entrancing voice is drop dead gorgeous too!  A striking blonde with a flirty little red dress; his favorite color by the way, holding the microphone to her luscious looking pink lips… and those long…silky smooth legs…  “Wow…” he softly breathes out leaving his lips parted.  Her big bright brown eyes sparkling when the lights hit them; he listens spellbound as she drags out the last line.
“…I’m crazy, crazy for you…”

     Four years. Four years, a hundred days, four hours, and thirty minutes. That’s what your wrist had said the last time you checked it - only days ago, so you only expected to have said days taken off and didn’t bother looking at your wrist the entire move, assuming everything would stay the same. Then at some point on the morning before your first day at Middleborough, you had managed to shove the sleeve of your hoodie down and caught a glimpse of the timer there - only expecting the seconds to be ticking down from years.
0 yrs 0 days 5 hrs 12 min 20 sec
     Your heart had stopped in your chest - four years and a hundred days had disappeared within... how long had it been like this? Since Friday? Fuck, you weren’t sure. Now you just stood in the bathroom, watching seconds pass by, counting down to the very moment you’d meet your soulmate. What if they weren’t a good person? What if you were doomed to be soulmates with an asshole? You pressed your back against the door, staring down at the seconds that kept ticking down, minutes wasting away before your eyes.
     You had to wonder how they were feeling. How they might have woken up and seen the timer at their wrist jumped - hell, they might have realized it when it first happened. You hoped that maybe they did realize when it first happened - that you were just dumb for a moment. Maybe their heart raced at the thought of meeting you, or maybe they didn’t notice.
     Oh god, what if they didn’t notice?
     The sudden pounding at the bathroom door was enough to offset your thoughts as you tore away from it, pulling it open only to be greeted with the sight of your younger sister, Sam, looking annoyed.
    “Mama said we need to go wait for the bus,” she said, arms crossed across her chest, “and mom said I couldn’t leave without you.”
     Well, at least someone’s looking out for you, if your sister isn’t. “‘Kay,” you said, shrugging off your current thoughts about time ticking past and soon to dash into your room, snatching your bag from the floor before making your way downstairs.
     In the kitchen sat your parents; Charlotte and Joanne, two lovely women who met in their twenties after their countdown ended right at a bus-stop where Joanne had been on her way to an interview and Charlotte had ended up taking the bus after her roommate borrowed her car. It was a cute story that you adored growing up and you still enjoyed from time to time - especially when you started thinking about your own soulmate.
     “Oh my god, [y/n], come on.” Sam brushed past you, shoving an apple into your hand, and dashing out of the house before your parents could say a word to her.
     “Have a nice day, honey,” Charlotte - or, well, mom to Sam and sometimes for you - called out. You forced a smile and left to catch up to your sister.
     For the most part, the bus was as you expected it - no one really paid attention to you and Sam as you slid into a seat. Sometimes you caught the glance of someone whispering - who are the new kids; have you seen them; the little sister’s kinda cute, i mean, shit- and you suppress a small smile at the last one and shot a glare in the direction of where it came from - fuck, her older- yeah i saw them glare at me, shut up, they’re looking-
     Sam elbowed you. “Stop.”
     You chuckled. She smiled a little in return. At least Sam could calm you.
     Hours passed by quickly, a schedule shoved into your hands before you were guided to your first class. Classes went by quickly, your eye pinned to the disappearing seconds, minutes slipping away from you until the bell jerked you from your thoughts. Lunch. You were going to meet your soulmate at lunch. Maybe then it wouldn’t be so awkward.
0 yrs 0 days 0 hrs 3 min 10 sec
     You bit your bottom lip and made your ward toward the cafeteria. You got lost. You asked a nearby student. They pointed you in the right direction. You glanced at your wrist again.
0 yrs 0 days 0 hrs 1 min 4 sec
     Your heart was racing. Second by second went by as you slowly wandered down the hall.
0 yrs 0 days 0 hrs 0 min 20 sec
     This was fine. You were fine. Everything was fine.
 0 yrs 0 days 0 hrs 0 min 11 sec
     You held your breath. Ten.
     Nine.
    Eight.
    Seven.
    Six.
    Five.
    Four.
     Three.
     Two.
     One-
    “Fucking - watch it!”
     For a split second there were hands on you, shoving you roughly toward the lockers as you tore your eyes away from your wrist. The clang of metal and the pain that spread through your back was enough to get the attention of other students - most of which only glanced over at you, hesitating to look away until you stood back up and took that as a sign you’d be alright before continuing on their way. You fought back any tears - if not from being snapped at and shoved aside, from the pain that lingered in your back. How hard did he push you?
    “Woah, hey, are you okay?”
     You looked up to see some kid with headphones standing in front of you, his hands shoved into the pockets of a red hoodie. He stared at you, only for you to slowly nod, taking a deep breath as you pushed away from the cold metal behind you.
     “Could be better,” you said with a shrug, before staring at the boy for a moment - wasn’t he in one of your classes?
     “You’re the new kid, right?” He said after a brief pause. You nodded. “I’m Michael.”
     “[y/n]. So, uh,” you glanced back in the direction that boy had gone in, before looking back to Michael, “is... everyone like that? Because, I mean, a little heads up would be nice.”
     Michael shook his head, “just the assholes.” There’s a pause before he speaks again. “What were you staring at?”
     You frowned slightly - staring...? - before it clicked. Your timer. You shoved your sleeve down your arm as you gazed at the flashing numbers: 0 yrs 0 days 0 hrs 0 min 0 sec.
      “Michael?” You looked back up to him. He shook his head, pulling down his own sleeve - his timer still counting down. Then who...?
     Oh no.
     Oh no no no
     This wasn’t happening
     This was not happening
     “Michael?” You managed to croak, voice shaking, “who just pushed me?”
      He stared at you for a moment. “... Rich?” You nodded frantically, and you swore you must have been shaking because Michael stepped back, giving you a little space. “Hey, are you alright?”
      You shook your head, jutting your wrist out to Michael. He looked form your face to the timer, before scanning over the line of zeroes. “Wait. You’re not saying that Rich-”
     “... I don’t know. I just don’t know.”
      It turns out things at Middleborough had changed before you arrived. Aside from what you heard - Jeremy Heere used to be a nerd, didn’t he? But... he’s actually pretty cool... Rich is friends with him, at least. And Jake seems to be friends with him! Didn’t he have some stupid shit with some sort of sheets... - you had Sam to report shit to you since, apparently, word traveled fast.
     “Some dude in your grade,” she had said, cutting away from a story about this one dork in band, “pushed his fucking soulmate earlier.”
     “Hm.”
     “Yeah. Rich something.”
     “How do you know it was his soulmate?”
     “Well...” She began, “I heard it from Matthew... who heard it from this guy, Nathan, who’s friends with this other guy. Dustin, I think. Apparently Dustin knows shit."
     “Did they say who he pushed?”
     “Nah,” she said, “at least, no one seemed to know them.” She paused, looking to you, “why are you so interested?”
      You shrugged. “Soulmate shit. I think about it sometimes.”
      She didn’t believe you. But she dropped it, “what kind of an asshole pushes anyone around?”
     You only shrugged again. You didn’t know - nor did you want to know, honestly.
      Too bad you’d have to find out eventually.
     One week later and somehow word had spread. New kid’s soulmate timer is at zero. They met their soulmate? Lucky. I wish I could meet my soulmate. Wait, was it zero when they first got here though? Rich Goranski’s timer is at zero too. What if they’re soulmates?
      No. That’s stupid. They wouldn’t be soulmates.
      But what if they were?
     “He-ey, new kid!”
      You winced at the sound of a chair scraping along the floor as it was turned Some guy with frosted tips and a smile that could win over anyone’s heart instantly was sitting in front of you, leaning over the back of the chair. You’d only heard of this guy and even then you didn’t remember his name. Something like Jason or James or-
      He awkwardly introduced himself when you didn’t respond. “I’m Jake. We have math together?”
      Close enough. But you forced a smile. “[y/n].”
     “So. Where are you from?”
      This was weird. Since when did Jake - popular kid/prince charming Jake, apparently - talk to you? You rattled off your hometown anyway. “It’s nothing special.”
      He only smiled again. “So... I was thinking... maybe you’d like to come to this Halloween party I’ve been planning. You’re new and-”
     “I don’t do parties.” That was... a lie, kind of. You could go to a party - when you knew people there. Parties weren’t always your thing, but they could be fun.
     “Rich will be there,” he said, “and you can meet people.”
     “I don’t know Rich.”
     “Oh. Yeah. Right, sorry,” he said, “just... think about it. Here,” he picked up a stray pen off of your desk, scribbling a string of numbers onto the corner of a piece of paper, “you can text me if you wanna come.”
     So you did. After you talked to Michael about it and somehow managed to convince him to give you a ride there and back - something he seemed a little to glad to give you, for some reason. So you donned some Harry Potter costume you found after a quick trip to the store, not giving half a shit whether people complimented or made fun of you because Harry Potter was fucking great and they could deny it if they wanted.
       Rich hadn’t seen you. He didn’t see you when you arrived, he didn’t see you while you wandered the party with red solo cup you hadn’t sipped, and he didn’t see you when you finally ended up sinking into a spot on the couch. But at some point during the night he felt a shock travel down his spine, steering him in another direction, and had words constantly whispered to him to guide his every movement. Eventually it got to him.
       It wasn’t until he finally drank something - even the smallest sip - that he saw you, sitting alone. New kid. The one with a timer set to zero. The one he shoved only seconds before his own timer had zeroed out. So he crossed the room and threw himself into the seat next to you, catching your attention as the sudden shift nearly made you spill your drink. He didn’t speak first, and after a moment of silence from you, he assumed he’d have to.
       “You’re the new kid?” He said. Smart move, Rich.
       You only nodded. How many times had you heard that? But you spoke after a second, “[y/n].”
      “I’m Rich.” He smiled a little. The words were simple, but at least he didn’t force them - usually he had to throw on some aura, some mask that made him look cooler and careless and a bit of an asshole at times, but something about it just... he liked it.
      “I know.”
        Of course you did - he fucking shoved you in the hallway- fuck he wished he knew what to say to you. Where was-
       He winced slightly at the sudden Japanese that was thrust into his head - what the hell? You were staring at him. Fuck. Fuck fuck fuck- Maybe if he gave you a-
       More Japanese. What the fuck was up with-
       He stopped. No. No, you were his soulmate for a reason, right? That meant you’d love him, right? No no no you were a stranger and-
       Suddenly there was more Japanese. Was that the reason why the fucking thing never let him drink?
      Well. It’d be a pretty fucking weird coincidence if you weren’t his soulmate. But why hadn’t he seen you after that moment? It was like you were just... gone. Invisible. Like someone had just erased you from his sight-
      “Rich?”
       He stood abruptly, muttering something under his breath. Fuck fuck he didn’t to fix this, he just had to find-
       You watched him leave.
       Fuck, you should have said something else to him. Maybe you could just find Michael and leave and maybe buy discount Halloween candy tomorrow with him. Maybe play that video game he kept talking about - the game he played with Jeremy. Pretend that maybe you could put off talking to Rich for another day.
       When you found Michael, he was dead silent and visibly distraught. Fuck discount Halloween candy, you’d buy whatever you could from Walmart and the two of you could game until you passed out. Michael deserved that. He deserved a distraction - and maybe he’d open up to you if he wanted to about whatever bothered him. So you showered him with stupid jokes and soon found yourself in his basement playing Hey You, Pikachu! -  which led to a conversation that consisted of “dude, you have a Nintendo 64?” and “yeah” - and making more stupid jokes that actually managed to make Michael smile.
       ... You might have told Pikachu to fuck off once or twice after it didn’t listen to either of you.
       You didn’t remember falling asleep on the couch, and honestly, who did? But the last thing you remembered was Michael playing Paper Mario or something and mumbling something. But you did wake up to a worried Michael, and the sound of a phone buzzing endlessly on a nearby table
      “[y/n]?” Michael had whispered, “fuck, they said that-” he caught himself, “someone set Jake’s house on fire.”
      “Someone?” You mumbled, sitting forward slowly. Your phone buzzed again. You reached out and managed to snag it.
      He hesitated. Oh no. But then he spoke, softly, “...Rich.”
       You felt your blood run cold. Rich? Rich set Jake’s house on fire? Another buzz. Sam. Sam’s endless messages plagued you, pestering you about every detail and asking if you were alright and then the messages became more frantic. You managed to text her back a ‘I’m okay,’ which disrupted the rhythm of her panic-filled texts.
       Then she was calling you.
       You looked to Michael before answering, standing and stretching your limps as you walked away from the couch.
      “-Holy fuck, [y/n], what the fuck? I’ve been texting you for - never mind. Did you hear about-” She paused for barely half a second, “are you okay? Where are you-”
      When you interrupted her, you heard her take the smallest breath, “I’m fine, Sam. I’m with Michael.”
    “... Are you okay, though?”
    For a moment, you thought Sam somehow knew about Rich, about your timer, about everything you’d been hiding. You’d be lying if you said that you weren’t conflicted, though. Just - almost everything you saw of Rich just confused you. But just the way he crashed next to you, the way he gave you the smallest of smiles after he introduced himself - something just seemed... off.
    “[y/n]?” Her voice is soft. It’s nice.
    “Yeah."
    “When are you coming home?”
    You looked over to Michael, then pulled your phone away long enough to catch a glimpse of 9:43 a.m. “In a few hours. Before lunch, at the latest.”
    “... Alright. Mom and mama were freaking out - but-”
    Suddenly Sam was gone and you were met with the frantic shrill of Joanne, “[y/n]? Are you alright? Baby, you aren’t hurt, are you?”
    “I’m fine, mama, I left before anything happened-”
    “Where are you? Text me the address, I’ll come get you-”
    And she did. You thought that maybe you could get a few hours to yourself, just to think, but eventually you were in the backseat and you had Charlotte’s hand reached around the seat in one hand and Sam’s in the other and the dull silence between the four of you. It was the sort of silence you only heard about, the silence that came from an almost and the silence that came from the silent thanks that it was only an almost. Sam squeezed your hand. You squeezed back.
       When you got home, neither Charlotte nor Joanne asked any questions. The buzz of your phone brought you back to reality. First an unknown number introducing themselves as Jeremy - who, from your experience, you had no intention of talking to. How he got your number, you weren’t sure, but he asked how you were considering Rich (as if he somehow fucking knew, you had thought before shoving it away into the back of your mind) and you told him you wanted to be left alone. He pushed you slightly. You told him to fuck off. He didn’t text back.
       Then there was Michael. And then another unknown number - Dustin. You told Michael you’d talk to him later. Dustin you told to fuck off. You needed to think.
       Alone.
       Thursday morning, weeks later, you decided to skip school.  It turns out that Beth Israel - where Rich was currently - was a city away. Not that it was a problem - with enough research you found the easiest way was to hop on a train, make it there and find the hospital and way until visiting hours started, and then talk to Rich - who would hopefully be awake now. You managed to hook Michael into your plan - somehow convince him to drive you to the train station and pick you up - and were able to convince Sam to cover for you (and supply you some money she’d been stashing away with a few promises that you’d have to repay her later). So you met Michael and shoved your bag into the backseat of his PT Cruiser, and swung into the passenger seat. Halfway to the station, Michael had spoken to you.
      “What are you gonna do?”
       “Talk to him. About... this,” you said, motioning to your wrist.
       He nodded. “And?”
       You shrugged at this point, “find out what the fuck we’re gonna do. Look, if... he’s an asshole, I don’t want to be associated with him.” You paused. “Does that sound bad? Yeah, that sounds bad, fuck, I just don’t know what I’m gonna do, I just... I just want to talk to him.”
       Michael didn’t speak for the rest of the trip. Not until you had gotten out with your bag, saying he’d be there as soon as he could and just to watch out for yourself and the usual warnings you probably only ever heard from Joanne. You nodded and finally left him to go buy a ticket and find a place to wait. Almost twelve dollars later, you wished you could still count as a child.
       Oh well. Time to go see Rich and pray you don’t get in trouble.
       By some stroke of luck, you did manage to get through the hour ride and the walk to the hospital unscathed. You looked like some lost kid wandering into the hospital, asking a older lady behind the front desk where you could find the intensive care unit, before wandering and managing to find an elevator from her vague directions, punching the number for the floor. After a few seconds, the elevator jerked to life just after the dread began to build, but then it shuddered to a stop before the doors slid open and you were quickly out of the metal deathtrap.
       The waiting room was quiet, littered with few people, some softly chatting as they waited for someone to join their little party, few just reclined back with their heads against the wall - except for one teenage boy who decided to slump down and rest against the shiny plastic back cushion of the couch. It didn’t look comfortable, but he didn’t budge of shift in any way, so you could only assume he was fine.
      While wandering aimlessly trying to find Rich’s room, you nearly ran into two men. One reeked of a mix of beer, cigarettes, and cheap cologne - and you only assumed he was trying to mask the other two scents. He looked nervous, hunched over slightly and his hands jammed into his pockets, only glowering at you for a second before stepping around. His friend - or younger brother or son, you weren’t sure - only mumbled an apology as he looked at you with eyes too familiar.
       But he and the other was gone before you could say anything.
       The scent lingered. Rich didn’t fucking know how he got in there, but he was glad he was alone once again. Well - at least Gabe was a nice sight. He rarely saw his brother sometimes so, even if his dad was there, there was at least something. And now he had balloons that Gabe probably bought from the gift shop - GET WELL SOON stretched across one in bright letters and the other one of those yellow balloons with the smiley face on it, both tied off and set on a table that’d be out of his reach even if he wasn’t in a cast.
       He looked to the ceiling, breathing deeply and shutting his eyes. Everything felt too quiet. Now he didn’t have a fucking Muppet telling him what to do - not that Rich didn’t still like the Muppets, but having Constantine hanging over his shoulder all the time wasn’t exactly making him love the Muppets.
       The door opened. Was it time for a nurse already? Fuck if he knew - he was just waiting for whenever he could get out and get home.
      “... Rich?”
       Wait.
       “... Are you awake?”
       He looked over to the door, and for a moment he swore he was dreaming. You wouldn’t be standing there - but you were.
       You kind of forced a smile as you shut the door behind you, walking over to his bed. “Hey.”
       “Hey.”
       He stared at you. You reached to the straps at your shoulders, gently squeezing at them - a habit he swore he saw Jeremy do in the past. It was... weird, seeing you do it. “How are you?”
       “Fine.”
      “That’s... good, I guess.”
      “Why are you here?” He asked... rather bluntly, honestly - but he definitely didn’t expect you.
      “I wanted to talk. About... us.” You drew the sleeve back, holding out your wrist to him, “I think we’re-”
      “Soulmates. Yeah... I’m sorry.”
       Holy shit, he had a lisp.
      “[y/n]?”
      “Did you know?” You asked, “after you pushed me, I mean.” He shook his head. Well, at least there’s that out of the way.
      “Sorry,” he said again. You went to speak, but stopped, “look - I’m sorry I’ve been an asshole. But...” He paused, “we’re soulmates and...” Another pause. “I’m different now.”
       “Are you?” You asked. You’d heard of this shit before. “Rich, I just - I don’t want to get involved in something if things are going to be like they were before-”
      “They won’t be. Look-” he began, only to pause as he gathered his thoughts, “there was this... pill.” Drugs? “Like... a computer a-and it implants in your brain - and it tells you what to do. It’s called a SQUIP and-” He paused. “Jeremy Heere has one.”
      “Jeremy?” Then something came to mind - Jeremy Heere used to be a nerd. Jeremy used to be Michael’s friend. ... Then... maybe it was Jeremy who hurt Michael at the party- “Why?”
      “Mine told me to.”
      “Why did you have one?”
      “I... didn’t want to be a loser and someone said it could help me change into someone that my soulmate - you would like.”
      “Rich-”
      “Look, I’m sorry - but I want a chance. We’re supposed to work somehow, right?”
       You nodded. “Then... maybe after you get out? We can talk. We can be friends and shit.”
       He smiled. He had freckles. He’s adorable.
      “I didn’t tell my moms about you,” you admitted, slowly sitting down on a clear spot on the bed.
      “Moms?” He said slowly.
      “Yeah. Uh. Moms. And my sister - Sam, she’s younger than me,” you said a bit too quickly, “but I think I might tell them - if that’s fine with you, I mean.”
      “Uh. Yeah, go ahead.” He paused, “wait- he glanced over to the calendar, days  written on fully up until today, where only little writing was - “it’s... Thursday? Why aren’t you at school?”
      “I needed to talk to you,” you said, “and... today worked, I guess.”
      “Go to school,” he said.
      “Dude, I’m already here. Besides, the train I need doesn’t arrive until almost one. So... you’re stuck with me, Rich. Deal with it.”
       You and Rich talked until the hospital kicked you out of the room. You had refused to go to the actual hospital cafeteria for any sort of food, but Rich managed to convince you to stop by somewhere - a vending machine, food truck, anywhere - to get something to eat. It was kind of cute how he worried about you, telling you to be careful on the way home. So you promised you’d take care of yourself and set off from the hospital.
       You made it home in one piece, waiting on a bench for Michael to drive up - and after that, it was a nice ride home. Your mothers didn’t know, and Sam didn’t say anything about it to you. You weren’t sure how to break the news to your family, so you sat around for hours before dinner, googling and reading through countless guides and how to articles. Your heart nearly stopped when you heard the sharp knock before Sam called out that dinner was ready.
      Alright. You were just going to tell them that you met your soulmate over a month ago. No big deal.
      ... Very big deal.
       Big enough that you didn’t speak for half of dinner and didn’t realize the conversation fell silent. So you looked up and did the smartest thing.
      “I met my soulmate.”
       And by smartest thing, you literally just blurted it out without a second thought. That’s one way to break the news. Sam stared at you, Joanne kept looking from you to Charlotte, and Charlotte... was smiling like crazy.
      “Sweetie, that’s wonderful! Who are they?”
      “His name is Rich-”
      “Wait,” Sam immediately interjected, “you’re...”
       You nodded a little. “Yeah. I’ve... known for a little over a month-”
      “[y/n], what the hell?”
      “Language, Sam,” Joanne warned gently, “why didn’t you tell us sooner?”
       You shrugged. “I guess... I was scared?” You lied.
       They bought it. Charlotte gushed over the idea of you and this Rich boy, before immediately swatting away the thoughts of an actual relationship so soon because you were young and you had time to figure out what you and Rich were, only to be interrupted by Joanne - who shot you a wink as she nudged Charlotte to recount the story of when they first met. Then you brought up the idea of going back up to the hospital on Saturday - and then that was another round of questions. So you lied again, coming up with some bullshit excuse to why he’d be in Beth Israel. And while they didn’t buy it as easily as they did with your other lie, you had permission and money and planned to go visit Rich again.
      Eventually Rich got out of the hospital. The two of you began talking, and by extend - you and his friends began talking. You hadn’t gone to the play, but apparently one way or another the rest of the cast ended up with those... supercomputer pill things. They were nice, for the most part, even if you felt a little out of place. But at least there was Michael - who had his best friend back and definitely seemed much more chipper due to it - who was at the incident, but didn’t end up with a... SQUIP? You weren’t sure what it was - but Rich was different now and... he was actually kinda cute, when you really thought about it. He had a habit of saving a seat next to him for you, sometimes scooting closer and glancing to you to make sure this was okay, right? you were fine with this, right? no? alright - back i go, which eventually stopped happening as you grew used to having Rich next to you.
       Sometimes he’d send you dumb memes at three in the morning when he couldn’t sleep. You’d smile and offer to talk if he wanted - and usually he’d reject the offer, insisting he’d be fine. The first time he opened up to you was during winter break, when he ended up spending the weeks almost entirely at your house. Maybe that had been the turning point. Where Rich would open up to you, making vague comments about regrets turn into him reaching out, even the smallest bit, and letting you in. Where Rich would sometimes find your hand as intertwine his fingers with your own, not saying a word because you were an anchor when thoughts of what he did and who he was started to bother him. Where Rich would stand next to you, inches shorter but quietly resting a hand at your hip, or the way he’d rest a hand on your arm as he pulled up something on his phone to show you, or maybe how he’d oh-so-casually rest an arm around you.
       The group noticed. Sometimes there’d be a movie night and Rich would preserve the spot next to him - whether it be on the floor or couch - just for you. You left the room once to grab another drink, only to hear the sound of Jeremy crying out seconds later and the sound of the group immediately either laughing or giving Jeremy shit because “dude, that’s [y/n]’s spot, rich isn’t gonna let you sit there, why’d you even try” and you fumbled with the can of soda at the thought of Rich actually keeping your spot. The group noticed how the two of you were constantly touching in some way, whether it be you slipping your hand into Rich’s, or the fact that Rich would rest a hand at your hip and you didn’t bat an eye at that, or the fact that sometimes you’d kind of just snuggle into Rich whenever he’d wrap an arm around you.
       And apparently, Rich had this whole love-struck look whenever he looked at you, according to Christine. He’d just sometimes watch you as you wrote or doodled or focused on anything, sometimes forgetting about what he was doing before smiling a little. He just stared at your lips, drumming his fingers impatiently against his leg.
       And then one day, he just kissed you. You’d slipped your hand into his after your last class, rambling on about some homework or something, and when you turned around he just went for it - smashing his lips against yours awkwardly, cutting off your thoughts before pulling away. For a few moments, the two of you stood there, before you gently squeezed his hand and stumbled over your words, trying to resume what you’d been saying only to end up asking if he wanted to go out sometime.
       He did. So you went to the mall and ended up making out behind a clothing rack.
       Honestly, it was pretty great.
       Even if someone (i.e. a certain Jakey D) saw and got a shitty picture form afar, and somehow said picture ended up in the group chat barely five minutes later, and there was no mercy in teasing you and Rich.
       It was still worth it.
      “Babe,” Rich complained, sitting on your bed as he watched you pack. “Why do you have to leave?”
       Apparently, your mothers made the plan to go visit family on prom weekend. You tried to get out of it at first, saying you were responsible and you could drive them to the airport and stay home - but that idea was shot down since they knew about you and Rich and you haven’t seen your aunt or your cousins in a while. The timing was terrible, but you frowned and stopped complaining. You told Rich, who was disappointed because you two could have fucking wrecked prom - his words, not yours - but shrugged. You jokingly said he could take Michael, and next thing you knew you had a text from Michael asking why Rich asked him to prom and not you.
      “Family thing.”
      “Why?” He asked.
       You shrugged. “Couldn’t wait? I dunno. Have fun at prom, alright? We have next year. Or you could hide in my luggage - you’d fit.”
       “Shut up,” he mumbled through a badly suppressed smile.
      “Make me.”
       So he kissed you. His hands were cupping your face at first, and you kind of stumbled into your bed, awkward at first before sort of melting into the kiss.
      “Rich-” kiss “I still-” kiss “need to pack-”
      He frowned as he pulled away.
      “Just let me finish, then... we can pick back up where we left off.”
       You never thought you’d have the whole pull away from each other and act like you weren’t just making out moment that you saw on TV, but... you could check that off of your bucket list. Thankfully, it had only been Sam. Which didn’t mean you didn’t get shit for it, but it was better than anyone else walking in on you.
       Rich looked cute in a tux. Michael looked cute in a tux. All your friends looked cute in prom attire and you were sitting in your aunt’s living room in shorts and a t-shirt as you cursed Florida. One of your cousins was leaning against you, curiously peeking over your arm at the stream of hearts you were sending Rich.
      “Is that your boyfriend?” She teased, smiling up at you.
       ... Were you and Rich technically dating? You shoved the thought back. “Yeah.”
      “Is he your soulmate?”
      “Yeah.”
       She gasped softly, “wait, really? You met your soulmate?” She was grinning ear to ear.
      “Yeah, Bee.”
      “Do you love him?”
      Did you? How do you answer a kid like this? You kind of smiled as you sent him a text to have fun and b safe after adding on another heart. “I think so.”
      rich: love you
     “Does he love you?”
      [y/n]: love u too 💗
     “Yeah. I think he does.”
      She looked at you with that childhood innocence. The sort of look - as if you were a fairy tale to her. “Are you two gonna get married?”
      God, that was a thought. “I don’t know.”
      You were tempted to text him again - asking him what you two were. Were you two officially dating? But you decided against it. It was prom night and the two of you could talk later.
      You still sent him a text later - two in the morning later, but still later. It was simple and short, but it was still something.
      [y/n]: i love you. i’m glad it’s you.❤️
      You put your phone on the table nearby, shifting uncomfortable on the couch - where you had volunteered to sleep after letting Sam take the guest room, since sneaking into the kitchen to steal a cookie that your uncle made was a thousand times easier when you didn’t have to sneak down stairs that creaked no matter where you stepped.
      Your phone buzzed to life after a few minutes of near silence. You moved, picking up your phone and clicking it on.
      rich: i love you too

1-60 for Jelani (i believe thats how u spell it omg im sorry im AWFUL w names)
Yeah, that's how you spell his name. I'm terrible with names as well, it's why I gotta keep repeating them or I'll forget lol1: What is your character's biggest fear?Migraine attacks. He gets them at random and after countless tests no one has any idea what sets them off or why. Besides the immeasurable amount of pain that can cause him to blackout, his blood pressure spikes and he gets really bad nosebleeds and what's worse is that after a migraine attack his night terrors and sleep paralysis act up even more which makes him freak out and often ends with him being sedated.After migraine attacks he's hit with some very heavy insomnia that can last a week and some odd days, which brings a whole new mess of problems and risks: the fast and erratic heartbeats, the schizophrenia-like symptoms, imbalance of hormones, memory loss, headaches, microsleeps, hallucinations and so on. The only thing that sorta helps is a chemically induced coma.2: What is your character's favorite memory?When he was a kid Loke and Alfr would always take him everywhere and would constantly play with him. Alfr was kind of like an older sibling to him. One time Loke and Alfr set out to take some supplies to another village which was a 4 day trip and they took Jelani with them. Just four days with his brother and his brother's boyfriend travelling by themselves.3: What is your character's least favorite memory?During a raid his paternal grandfather was gravely injured and as much as Jelani tried to help he still died in front of him.4: Does anyone have a crush on your character? Is your character aware of this?Currently Mason does. Jelani knows but he is not going to do anything about it. He's married.5: Describe your character's dream date.Something simple. Out to eat, find a nice and tranquil place to just talk until sunrise.6: What is your character's sexual orientation?Pansexual.7: How does your character feel about their name?What's not to like? He was named after his maternal grandfather, the name means "mighty" and it only helps to boost his already elevated ego. He probably woulda ended up being named Ragnvaldr but his dad insisted that his mom name him.8: Does your character hate anyone? Why?Lucian. Out of jealousy he turned the other celestial beings against Jelani and a whole drama started that ended in war and billions dead. TBH Jelani shoulda known better but he had a short temper back then.Hróarr. The man that killed his paternal grandfather. He became Hróarr One-Armed after Jelani and Loke crippled his arm to the point where it had to be cut off.Angelus' entire maternal family. Kinda obvious as to why.9: How does your character feel about religion?He doesn't care for it much in terms of being "really devote", not exactly his thing though he does respect it. However, he does not respect the concept of Christianity, he doesn't trust it. But he has no problem with Christians themselves as long as they don't come at him with "drop paganism it's wrong" or those that use it as an excuse for pushing forward hate.10: Would your character ever kill someone?That's practically his job. Most of the threats they face HAVE to be taken out. When he was younger he and his family were dedicated to wiping out related threats.11: How did your character meet their best friend?He was born lolJelani considers his older brother his best and closest friend.12: How would/does your character feel about roller coasters?He loves going on roller coasters! The scarier and faster and bigger the better!13: What would your character die for?His brother, husband, family and close friends.14: What is the cutest thing your character has ever done?He was too nervous to propose face to face so he grabbed Maya (Angelus' pet ferret), tied a ribbon around her neck with the ring on it and sent her to Angelus. He didn't exactly ask, Angelus kind of asked him if that's what he meant and in the shiest whisper he confirmed that that's what he meant.15: What music genre would your character listen to?Black metal, symphonic metal, death metal. Metal!16: What other fictional characters remind you of your character?I don't wanna compare any OC to other fictional characters. Sounds stupid but I really don't like that.17: Does your character have any irrational fears?Absolute darkness. Not like the night or just a dark hall. I mean absolute darkness where you can't even see your own hands in front of you.18: How would your character feel about having their life recorded?Pissed off. He likes his privacy.19: What is your character's deepest, darkest secret?Okay, tl;dr. When Morris, Loke, Jelani and Trevor got Angelus away from his abusers Angelus made Morris promise not to hurt them. Morris never did, only because he thought it would make Angelus' guilt and mental state worse.Skip to 2 centuries later and by sheer coincidence Angelus bumped into Lexington who was the most abusive towards him. Lexington just took him with him and tortured him. Why? Idk he's an abusive predator who hated his nephew more than anything else and the thought of Angelus still being alive and happy pissed him off.So after they found Angelus Jelani and Loke found out it was Lexington so Jelani went to find him. Spent a week torturing him and then killed him. He dropped what remained of Lexington at Angelus' grandmother's place and warned her that if anyone of them ever came near him again he'd personally kill her entire family in front of her and then turn her over to some Slayers.Angelus doesn't know Jelani did that. The only one who knows anything is Loke.20: What is the most surprising thing about your character?He sleeps with a nightlight on because of night terrors that he never outgrew.21: Is your character flexible?Physically? Personality wise? Not really for the first. Yeah for the second one.22: What is the worst thing your character has ever done?Started a war that ended in the deaths of millions of celestial beings, almost destroyed an empire, led to his and thousands of other's exile.23: Is your character morally gray or black or white?Gray. V E R Y gray.24: What prejudices does your character have?None. He and his brother were raised to treat others as they'd like to be treated, to treat everyone with respect, that prejudices are harmful and why, and to be honest if he had any prejudices he wouldn't have been accepted into the organization much less been made second in command or even eventually end up as first in command.25: Would you want to hang out with your character?YES!26: What is your favorite headcanon for your character?Wouldn't this make it canon? Lmao.Anyway, been playing with the idea that after his arc he begins to try to tap into his abilities which some include magic so he switches between male and female just for fun.27: What would be the worst way for your character to die?Dying knowing that his brother or husband or family or close friends were in danger but he wouldn't be able to do anything about it.28: What pet would your character like to have?He actually has a female ball python named Slinky.29: What would be your character's favorite food?Sushi.30: Would your character have any hobbies?Reading. He reads a lot. Also video games.31: What social media would your character use?Most likely Twitter and Instagram.32: What does your character look like?Cheapo rundown. Well built, very tall, long black straight hair that he's not really fond of since he feels it just sits there and looks dull as hell, blue eyes, really dark skin and has a strange mark on his lower left side that looks like a burn. It's a sigilbut he doesn't know that until his arc.33: In what ways is your character like you?Stubborn and competitive.34: What is cliche about your character?Metalhead that's really into satanic aesthetic and imagery just for the shock factor.35: What is unique about your character?I guess the fact that he is a Maker (god of all gods) of the primordial pantheon.36: Does anyone want to harm your character?So many enemies over the centuries. There's a lot of people that wanna kill 'im but Lucian NEEDS to if he plans on keeping the realm under his command.37: Do people have justified grudges against your character?Check the previous answer.38: What role does your character play in their story?He's one of the main characters.39: What would be your character's niche on Tumblr?He would probably last three minutes on Tumblr. See what a dumb mess it is and then deactivate.40: What would be your character's favorite school subject?History and science.41: Would your character want to have any children?He's thought about it but not really.42: What would be your character's dream career?He's been doing what he's been doing for so long that nothing else would be as satisfying or even worth it.43: What is your character insecure about?Not being good enough. Messing up so badly that it would cost someone their life.44: What is your character proud of?How much he has climbed within the organization. He was the top agent for centuries which landed him a place amongst the three leaders and not just any, once Morris steps down he'll leave the organization in Jelani's hands.45: What would your character change about themselves?He'd prefer to have his mother's hair. Most likely different eye color because he's had it up to here with comments like, "Oh, wow, that is so rare on someone like you."46: Would you want to trade places with your character?God, yes, you have no idea.47: What fandoms would your character be in?He wouldn't be in any fandom. He'd peak in a little bit every once in a while but he'd never go into it.48: How would your character type?On mobile he's pretty fast. Keyboard not fast but not slow either.49: How does your character stand politically?You know the side that's NOT xenophobic, racist and downright horrible unless you're a rich, straight, cisgender, white male? Yeah, that one.50: What is your favorite thing about your character?Despite the fact that he's so powerful and capable of taking care of himself in practically any scenario he still needs his older brother.51: What is your character's favorite animal?Otters.52: How would your character act in gym class?Would participate but wouldn't go all out.53: What clubs would your character join?Book club and anything to do with video games.54: What is the saddest thing about your character's life?I can't think of anything. He's one of my OCs that's had it relatively good.55: Would your character do the Ice Bucket Challenge?Why do something idiotic when you can just donate the money directly?56: What's one of your character's quirks?He's a bit of a neat freak, everything has to be clean and tidy in his apartment.57: How would your character feel about feminism?He IS one. Without it a lot of things wouldn't have happened to make life livable for many people, himself included.58: Is your character dorky or more athletic?More dorky.59: What is your least favorite thing about your character?His ego can be jarring.60: If you could title your character's life, what would you title it?Lol I couldn't think of anything.

Super-Special fanfiction about Seven x MC
I reached 100 followers this week, so to celebrate I wanted to write a fanfiction, which I never did before but hey
So here are some Infos about the univers this Plays in: everyone gets a bracelet on his 6th birthday, on it thers a number which is the distance to that persons soul mate.
The last few steps
You didn´t believe in fate, there was far more than just fate to believe in. You didn´t belive in Gods either, what good did thex ever done to you? But the People nowadays didn´t believe in gods and high-beeing like they used to. All they believe in the number on their wrist. A number that can bind you to a complete stranger for the rest of your life. It was a number which failed to enchance you like it did with so many others already. Your Name war MC, nobody cared for where you came from, so why mention it? But it was a small town, near the ocean. Not many tourists found their way out here and this was the reason everybody wanted to leave this place. in this world  happiness could only be found with your destinied Partner. That one Person will change your live and make it truly complete. In this world People didn´t buy fancy cars or expensive clothes with their Money, they travelled. Why? To minimize the number on your wrist of Course. It has become the meaning of life for those People. You weren´t one of those. This very number meant nothing more than a wrong calculation you made. This ridiculous high number stopped bothering you when your parents died. They died because of that number, you see they were not meant to be together, but love doesn´t care about numbers. They always told you that so you never felt the Need to minimize it to Zero. Still, it was there on your wrist and always in the back of your mind, as if it was Standing next to you with a hand on your shoulder. But happy times came to an end when your mom found her significant other. You didn´t hate her for going with him, it was like a  force hitting you and knotting you together with this Person. She wanted to take you with her, finding you own Partner and become happy. But you stayed with your dad instead. One day in April, he didn´t came home from work. He worked for some security-stuff but he never told you about it because of “Top-scecret Information”. The day he died you found a note inside your lunchbox which he made for you. “My dear Little MC, please don´t hate me for leaving, your mommy already left and now I have to say goodbye too. I can´t live with the thought of her being with another man, even if it is truly her fate. Please go to her, so you can be happy with her and expirience what finding a Soul mate is like. I hope you have the live you always wanted, with the right man by your side. Tell your Mom I love her and that I want her to be happy.” You didn´t even cry, you knew he was gonna do it for a Long time now. So you phoned your Mom, to tell her all about it. But the line was dead and nobody answerd your calls. Since that day you didn´t try calling again and rejected every incoming call. She wanted to visit and came to your house, but you moved a Long time ago and changed your last Name and phone number. Some People might say that this life of yours was crap, but you couldn´t be more happy. No Responses, no one nagging you. You still went to School of Course. You even were at the top of your class. The compan your dad worked for send checks every month so there was no Need for you to work your ass of. Why would you live be shitty when you enjoyed it to the fullest. Since your dad commited suicide you stopped believing thst this number could ever make you happy. And you were fine with this. Sure, you hadn´t had much friends and weren´t interessted in travelling but what would Change one Person? And even if it did Change your whole life, or worse personality, it wasn´t a gift from gods but an evil curse from the demons. Fate was a cruel Thing in your eyes and soon it proved that to you again. “  Hey MC! Wanna hang out in the mall later?” Resa was your best friend since your first day here.and the only reason you got around the world a Little. Resa took you with her on trips and wa desperate to find a Soul mate.Oh, and she was sure it was some celebrity. “You just want to look at the Tourists don´t you?” The only reason tourists were so interessting was that they were not from here. After this one Girl found her Zero, the Person she was meant to be with, who was a Tourist coming here for diving and sailing, a lot of People used their free time to stalk those Outsiders while looking longingly at their bracelets. “Course I want, what else should I be doing?” “Your homework?” “When I marry a celebrity, why would I have to work ? So, no School needed for me.” You loved her but in this Moments you could slap her. Hard. “3 o´clock at the Pier?” “Sure, see you later then.” The doorbell rang and you opened the door for a man in a black suit and shades. “Hello, are you MC, the daughter of (dad´s Name)?” He looked at you throgh the dark glas and obviously suffered from the heat. Was he here to take back the checks? Would you have to pay it allback in the end? “I am, what do you wnat from me? If you want to see may dad, he died.” “I know that. I worked together with him at the ageny and now you have to do me a favour. In return you´ll Keep receiving the checks and we´ll make sure to help you find your Special someone.”  Who ever said you wanted that? The Person, not the Money. You would gladly accept that. “I´d rather apreciate it if you could free me from this Thing instead. But I know that´s impossible so please help my friend Resa finding the Person she´s looking for.” “Of Course, so here´s the Thing you have to do. There will be a man arriving here with the 3.15 PM ship. His hair is as red as fire so you can´t miss him. Take him to this house andgive him this. That´s all.” This was a small envelope he gave you. He said he worked with yourda so you knew it was better to not ask any questions and just do as asked. “Yes, I can do that. Is there anything more?” “No, there isn´t. You´re a good Girl for not asking questions, your dad raised you very well.” He put another envelope on the table and turned to the door. “Here´s some extra Money, I know you can Need it.” Without another word he left and shut the door quietly.You took the envelope and looked how much cash he left you. It was enough to live half a year from it. It may was suprising that you didn´r scream or cry in joy. But you had the Feeling your dad took part of your emotions with him. That was life for you and giving someone a letter for so much Money was a Piece of cake. It was the only Logical Thing to do for you in that Moment. Your meetingtime with Resa came closer and you got finished to leave the house. The envelope was left in the cupboard, save is save. You arrived at 2.54PM, punctuality was amajor Thing for you, and waited for Resa who arrived late as always. you like the Routine your life had by rhis Point. Always Meeting with Resa, always waiting for her and gazing at the arriving People while Hearing Sound of disapproval from Resa who looked at her bracelet the whole time. But today was different, today you had a Job to do….. you heard the horn of the ship and the crowed got more exited by each passing second. “Do you think I will meet him today? Will I finally find my one and only Partner for life?” “Who knows?” before she could say anytihng else the passengers started to step onto the land and each pair of eyes was directed on their wrists. Exept yours, they were searching for fire-head-boy, as you named him. He was one of the last ones to Exit the ship and Mr. MIB was right, his hair loked like it could set the whole world on fire any Moment. Someone screamed, “ MC, your number!!” You looked down, and fell in shock. The number which was usually higher than a Million was now 7….6…..5……4……..3 “Resa, why does it get down so fast?” “That´s because you have found him.” “I never asked to find anyone! Make it stop Resa!” Judging by the number, your Special someone took his last few steps towards you. The Counter hit Zero in your heart raced in fear.You looked up, afraid of who stood there. Afraid this Person wanted to take you away and turn your life upside down. “Hi! I am the Defender of Justice 707! So you´re the Zero in my Name. Nice to meet you, what´s your Name?” The Boys hair couldset the world on fire, so you thought. But he was a cruel one and the only world that was set on fire, wa yours. It was a fire that couldn´t  be put out by anyone, only by death.
Soooo….. this was suprisingly more fun than I thougth. As I said this is my very first fanfic so don´t be to harsh on me, kay? If you liked it then leave a comment, like or reblog, rhat would make me very happy. Maybe I can do this more from now on but we´ll see ^^

Falling Star
The golden blonde stares down from her fiery perch with a sigh; how the celestial longs for freedom from her heavenly confines.  For centuries, she watched the mortals rise and fall, they grew from simple hunter gatherers into large civilizations and expanded all over their world.  There was a time when these mortals worshiped and regaled them, navigated by them, wished upon them, fell in love under them…  Sweet, precious love, something Lucy’s never experienced before.  She sighs, it’s been a lonely existence for the starisha and the one thing she’s longed for the most is to find her perfect match.
“Aunty Ama, could I go to Earthland?”
“My dear Lucy, why would you want to leave our sky, are you not happy here?”
“I’m curious about these mortals and I grow bored; I wanna experience something different.”
Amaterasu thinks for a moment, “It is almost time for the Tanabata festival on Earthland, isn’t that one of your favorite festivals to watch?” the girl nods.  “Then I will grant you one week to descend and explore life amongst the mortals.” She smiles at her niece, “Where would you like to go?”
“There is a city down there called Magnolia that has a very festive Star Festival.  I’d like to visit it.”
“Very well, but remember, you mustn’t tell anyone who you really are.”
Lucy chuckles, “I doubt anyone would believe me.”
“It matters not, no mere mortal can handle the temperatures we can release when not careful, it would be dangerous for you to grow too close to them.”
“I know aunty…” Lucy hangs her head, “I’ll do my best to just observe.”
“Good girl,” she pats her nieces shoulder, “Still… try to have some fun.”  A purse materializes in her hand, “Take this, it is the currency they use in that area.  You will need to secure attire to blend in and for lodging.”
“Thank you Aunty Ama!”  the blonde hugs her aunt, excited once more that part of her wish had come true.
~~~~~
The festival is still a couple days away, but the city of Magnolia is already preparing for it.  Shops and vendors set up displays and decorations of many colors and design.  Everywhere the girl turns, there is a new sight to behold.
“Ahhh!”  Lucy takes in a deep breath and inhales the scents wafting around her.  Floral, sweet, savory, so many different wondrous aromas.  She is so enamored with her surroundings that she walks aimlessly through the crowds, barely paying attention to where she is going when she bumps into someone and drops her shopping bag.  “Oh, I’m so sorry,” she kneels to pick up her bag, “I wasn’t paying attention to where I was...” But before she can grab it, a hand reaches down and does it for her.
“Here,” he hands it to her, “Don’t worry about it.” The man smiles at her.  She takes a moment to take in the male of this species, pink spiky hair, piercing green eyes, toned, muscular body…
‘Wow…’  She blushes, “A-At least let me make it up to you, how about I buy you lunch.”
“Why, it wasn’t a big deal.”
“I insist, though since I am not from this city, maybe you can recommend somewhere to eat?”
“Insist huh,” he smiles, “well in that case there is a café right around the corner.”
The waiter seats the pair next to a window.  As Lucy looks through the menu her excitement grows again; she’s about to try real food for the first time!  ‘What to try?!’  “Um, excuse me, oh you know I didn’t get your name how rude of me.”
He grins, “It’s Natsu Dragneel and what’s yours?”
“My names Lucy.”  She smiles, “Your name means, born in summer…  That’s cute, were you born in the summer time?”
He shrugs his shoulders, “Don’t know for sure, my adopted father found me in the summer time, maybe that’s why he gave me the name.  Does your name have a meaning?”
“As of light.  So, you were adopted?”
“Yeah, Igneel said he found me when I was about 3 in the forest all alone so he raised me.”
“Where is your dad now?”
He looks down, “I don’t know, he disappeared when I was 7 or 8.”
“Oh,” she frowns, “I’m sorry…”
“It’s okay, hopefully someday I’ll find him.”
“But how did you take care of yourself all this time without adults?”
“I ended up at a guild called Fairytail, Gramps takes in orphans like me.”
“Guild?  What’s a guild?”
“Wizards join them to take jobs and support themselves, but Fairytail is special.” She cocks her head intrigued but confused.  “We’re more like a family then most guilds.”
“That sounds nice.”  Lucy smiles again, “At least you weren’t alone.  You know I didn’t know that there were mortals… I mean humans that had magical gifts.”
“Oh, there’s plenty of us!  Some are stronger than others.” Flashing his toothy grin, “I like to think I’m pretty strong.”
“What magic do you possess?”
He grins wider, “I’m a fire dragon slayer.”
“But dragons haven’t been around for a long time, maybe 400 years…”
“There must have still been some, my dad only disappeared a few years ago.”
She chokes on her drink, “Are you saying your dad was a dragon??”
“Yeah!” his animated eyes flash, “He’s the one who taught me my magic.”
Throughout the meal, their conversation continues.  She often finds herself laughing hysterically at his antics and just the way he gorges himself on the food, it’s a wonder where he puts it, to be so fit yet he eats like 5 men!  For her just savoring every bite, every delectable piece, she must stifle the un-lady like urge to moan from each new morsel that enters her mouth.
“So, what are you doing in Magnolia Luce?”
“Luce?”
“It’s my nickname for ya.” He smiles.  “Do you like it?”
“I guess I can live with it.  Actually, I just came to see the Tanabata festival.  I heard so much about it where I come from that I decided to visit.”
“Where are you from?”
“Um, far away from here… I’m sorry I cannot tell you where.”
“Maybe when you’re ready you’ll tell me, in the meantime, what are you doing since the festival is still 2 days away?”
“Sightseeing, I’m trying to soak up as much as I can while I’m here on Earth… Err, I mean in Magnolia.”  Seeing a question in his expression she redirects the topic, “So Natsu, could you show me more of your beautiful city after lunch?”
He gets excited, “I’d love to!  But I’ll do you one better, I’ll take you to see Fairytail too.”
For the rest of the afternoon, Natsu drags Lucy all over Magnolia showing her places to eat, shop, and just hang out at.  But as they walk up the road to the guild hall he gets excited.  “You’re gonna love it, everyone is really nice; well except Erza, she can be a little scary.”
“Erza?”
“She can change her armor and weapons at her whim.”
Her eyes dance, “Wow…”
“Yeah, then there’s Gray, he’s like my friend and enemy rolled into one.”
“What kind of magic does he use?”
“He can create anything he can think of with ice.”
She giggles, “No wonder you guys don’t get along; fire and ice, that’s like opposite personalities.”
Natsu grins and runs his hand through his hair, “I guess, never really thought about it,” and pushes the door open just as a chair comes flying towards them.  “Luce!” he pushes the blonde to the ground covering her body with his own; the chair shatters against the door.  “Are you okay?”  He stands and holds out his hand to her.
“Yes, thanks to you.” She’s helped up
Turning back to the hall Natsu starts yelling, “Alright who threw that damn chair!”
Gray screams back, “Me, and what you gonna do about it?!”
Natsu lights his fists on fire, “You almost hit my guest, stripper!” and swings.  A fight breaks out between them.  She stands still unsure of how to react, this definitely wasn’t what she expected.
“Lucy?”
“Leo!” she checks and makes sure Natsu’s still fighting.  “What are you doing here?” she whispers.
“I could ask you the same thing and by the way, here on Earthland I go by Loke.”
“You didn’t answer my question.”
“I can’t tell you that.  So why are you here?”
“Aunty Ama let me come and explore…” she motions at the fire mage as he walks up, “I met Natsu while I was sightseeing.”
“Ah, you’ve met our resident playboy.” Natsu slaps Loke on the back, “Stay away from this one or he’ll bug ya to death asking you out on dates.”
Lucy rolls her eyes, “Playboy huh?  Why am I not surprised?”
“Come on Luce,” Natsu grabs her hand, “I’ll introduce you around.”
“Okay.  Well it was nice meeting you… Loke.”
“Like wise Lucy.”
As Natsu introduces her to others around that night, she hears his stomach rumbling, “You’re hungry again?”
Natsu pats his stomach and grins.  “It’s dinner time anyway,” so he leads her to a table.  “…and Mira makes the best meals.” He orders them a couple of burgers, fries, and milkshakes.  More members join them, curious about the pretty blonde Natsu has brought to visit them.
“So, Lucy,” Erza sits down, “What brought you to our fine city?”
“She came to see the Star Festival.”
“Natsu, Erza was asking Lucy not you.”
“And what’s it to you popsicle!  If I answered the question.”
“I swear your manners suck Flame Brain!”
“Boys stop it, not in front of the guest!”
They both stiffen, “Sorry Erza.”
But Lucy just starts laughing, “Please do not worry, I find this all very entertaining.  I don’t get to experience much where I come from.”
She spends the rest of the evening surrounded by everyone, laughing and telling her stories, showing off their magic to her, and a few trying to flirt as well.
It is close to midnight when she starts to yawn and Natsu offers to walk her to her inn.  “You don’t have to trouble yourself Natsu, I’m sure I can figure it out.”
“No way I’ll let you roam this city alone, there are too many creeps out there.  I insist.”
She chuckles and smiles, “Insisting huh?  Well in that case I’d be delighted.”
“Um, Luce, I was wondering if tomorrow you wanna hang out some more?  There’s other places in the city I could take ya.”
“That would be wonderful Natsu.  I,” she blushes, “rather enjoy your company.”
He blushes too, “Okay, I’ll come back in the morning then.”  He smiles, “around 9 or is that too early?”
“No 9 is fine, I’ll be waiting.”  She gives him a peck on the cheek.  “Goodnight Natsu.”  and walks away.
He reaches up and puts his hand over the spot she kissed, “Goodnight Luce.”
After leaving her in the lobby, Natsu walks back to his own cottage with a different bounce in his step.  ‘I wonder where Lucy is really from…’ he ponders to himself.  ‘She gives off such a strange energy that I can’t place it.  But it’s not evil, nah, the opposite, almost angelic.’  He puts his hands behind his head as walks, ‘and why’d she kiss me, does it mean anything?  Nah, she was probably just being sweet…’  He reaches home and throws himself on his bed.  ‘So sweet….  I think I’m falling…’
Up in her room, Lucy looks out over the city from her balcony staring up at the stars.  Such a different experience to be looking up at them instead of down, she leans on the railing.  ‘I was so lucky to run into that man today… He’s really nice,’ she smiles to herself.  ‘I don’t know what came over me though to kiss him like that…’
On the dot, Natsu is standing in the lobby when Lucy comes down.  “Good morning Natsu, you’re here on time.”
He blushes, “Actually, I’ve been here for a half hour… just in case.”
“Really?!” her cheeks turn pink.  “I’m sorry to keep you waiting.”
“Nonsense!” he grabs her hand and lead her out.  “So, what shall we do today?”
“I wish I could see a beach, is there one close by?”
“Well, maybe an hour by train, Aikane is the prettiest.”
“Would you… take me?” she asks sheepishly
“Of course!”
“Yay!” excitement in her voice.  “I’ve never seen one before so I need to get proper attire.”
“You mean swim clothes, we can stop to buy that before we go.”
“How about your friends, do you think they’d like to join us?”
“Probably…” he flushes, “But I kinda would rather it be just the two of us, it was more fun without the others around.”
She giggles, “Mr. Dragneel, are you trying to keep me all for yourself.”
“Maybe,” he mumbles with his cheeks getting redder.
“Alright.” She grabs his hand, “Then take me to a store so we can get going already!  I’m so excited to see water!”
He squeezes her hand, “you really didn’t get to experience much huh?”
“Sadly no…”
“Well, then I’m gonna make sure you have as much fun as possible!”
At the guild hall, Erza, Gray and Gramps are at the bar.  “So, kids, what’d you think of Natsu’s new friend?”
Erza- “I thought she was very nice, but her energy is different.  Not human, not evil… I couldn’t figure it out.”
Gray- “Who’d a thought Natsu could pick up a girl like that.”
Gramps- “Well Erza, I have to agree that she is a strange one.”
Gray- “Did anyone notice…”
Erza- “You mean how her body is as hot as Natsu?”
Gray- “Yeah, I don’t think he noticed it but us normal people sure did.”
Gramps- “Did he go see her again today?”
Erza- “Levy saw them getting on a train this morning…”
“Ugh….” Natsu groans.  “Sorry Luce… Forgot to mention, motion sickness…”
“Motion sickness?  Oh, the train!  Natsu if I knew I wouldn’t have made you take me!”
“It’s okay…. I wanted to…  See you smile.”
She blinks hard, ‘this boy cares that much…’  “There’s gotta be something I can do…” she thinks “Maybe I can soothe you somehow.”  She pulls him down on the bench so his head is resting in her lap.
“What… doing?...”
“Just try to relax Natsu, close your eyes…”  he nods and she watches his eyes shut.  Lucy begins to hum a tune that even he has heard since childhood.  Her melodic voice, soft, and slow for his listening pleasure…
“Sasa no ha saara sara  (Bamboo-grass leaves flowing in the wind) Nokiba ni yureru  (Swinging by the edge of the eaves) Ohoshi-sama kira kira  (Stars are shining) Kin-gin sunago”  (Like fine gold and silver sand)
She repeats the melody until she feels his body totally relax and she knows he has fallen asleep, continuing to run her hands in his hair, twisting his soft pink locks through her fingers…
“Natsu?...  It’s time to wake up now.”
The boy opens his eyes and stretches.  “Hey beautiful.” He grins when he sees a pink hue splash across her face.
“Stop... I’m not beautiful…” she whispers all embarrassed.
He reaches up to her face, “to me you are.” and caresses her cheek.
“Please don’t… Natsu, I-I’m not supposed to get too close to anyone…and you’re making that really difficult for me…”
Natsu sits up, “Why?”
Her eyes grow moist, “I can’t tell you.”
“You don’t have a boyfriend, do you?”
“No, it’s nothing like that.”
Seeing her on the verge of tears he smiles and changes the subject.  “It’s okay Luce, let’s just have fun while we can okay?”  She nods and smiles again.
They had a lot of fun that day at the beach.  Since Lucy couldn’t swim they stuck to the shallows but splashing around was enough fun for the two of them.  He tried his best not to stare at her but how could he help the feelings that were developing for the attractive blonde.  But things were no easier for her.  Once the shirt came off and she had to see his chiseled body… heated didn’t quite describe how she felt.
After grabbing lunch from a snack shack they plop down on a couple of lounge chairs to relax.
“Thank you Natsu for bringing me here, it’s been so much fun!”
“Anything for you Luce…” he reaches over and rubs his thumb over her hand.  But he continues to hold it and she doesn’t stop him.  Sigh…  But soon she can feel the tension relax, looking over she notices he has fallen asleep and a smirk falls over her face.
Borrowing a small bucket from another beach goer she fills it with water and creeps over to the unsuspecting young man.  Splash!  “What the!” he scrambles off the chair to see Lucy heaving from her laughter.  “Why you!”  he rushes at her.  She shrieks, tossing the bucket down and heads for the water.  “Come here Luce!” he’s laughing and yelling at the same time.
“Catch me first Natsu!”  she calls back, but when she turns to look she realizes he’s gaining on her.  She runs in and makes it till the water is to her chest…
“Gotcha!” he grabs her around the waist and picks her up.
“Don’t you dare!” she’s shrieking but he drops her in anyways.  Popping back up immediately she turns around to see him now laughing hysterically.  “Natsu!” she throws herself at him pushing them both back under for a few seconds.
When they come up for air he’s still laughing but grabs her around the waist.  “You should’a seen your face when I dropped you.”
“I can’t believe you did that!  What if I drowned!”
His face softens, “You know I’d never let that happen, right?”
Sigh, “I know you wouldn’t.”
His arms tighten around her, a moment passes as they gaze into each other’s eyes.  Natsu lowers his head slowly testing the field, will she respond back.  As soon as she closes her eyes he leans the rest of the way for a kiss...
All of a sudden, the waters around them start to bubble and boil, he breaks the kiss because he knows it’s not him doing it and that’s when he finally realizes how hot her body temperature has become.  “Lucy?  H-how are you doing that?”
“Oh no!” she tries to push away but he holds her even tighter.  “Natsu let me go… Y-you weren’t… I-I’m not supposed to…”
“Lucy, I am not letting go of you.”  She stops pushing and looks back to his face whose eyes are not scared but inquisitive.  “I know I can boil the water if I want to, but how are you doing it??”
“W-wait, h-how, Natsu are you able to still touch me?  I must feel like a thousand degrees right now…”
“Luce I’m a fire dragon slayer, this is nothing for me to handle.  Are you a fire mage too?  No that can’t be it, I don’t sense normal magic from you… it’s different.”
She looks around the beach to see a lot of people staring at them.  “I-I think we should get out of here.”
“We can if that’s what you want, but you still need to tell me the truth Luce, please?  I think I deserve it.”
She looks down, “Yes… you do.”  They grab their things and walk further down the beach and away from the crowds.  Lucy plops down on the sand and Natsu takes a place beside her.  “If you don’t believe what I tell you I’ll understand… but you’re right, I am not even from Earthland.”
“Are you from another realm like Edolas?”
She shakes her head and points to the sky, “I come from up there, from the stars.  “My aunt Amaterasu granted me a chance to visit your world because I wanted to explore… But she told me not to tell anyone where I’m from or what I am, a-and not to get close to anyone cause I would only be here a week…  But I didn’t expect to meet someone like you.”  Lucy hangs her head.  Natsu sits back as she talks, soaking in all the information.  “I’ve watched you humans for over a thousand years, and I found you all so fascinating.”  She looks back up to him, “I watched what happened with the dragons… that’s why I was surprised when you told me your father was one.  I thought the last one was killed by Acnologia 400 years ago.”  Tears start to build in her eyes.  “Why’d you have to be so sweet…  Natsu I…”
She is stunned when he reaches over and pulls her into a hug, “Luce, I believe everything you’re telling me.” He chuckles, “Maybe normal humans wouldn’t but I’m not normal,” pulling back and grinning, “I’m a Fairytail wizard.”
A tear breaks free and trickles down her face.  “But I’m not human at all Natsu, I’m a god.”
He shrugs his shoulders, “So.  We deal with demons, supernatural creatures, even a God every now and again.  It’s nothing new to me.” He wipes the tear off her cheek.  “At least you’re not one I need to battle.” He smiles at her, “unless part of your magic is making me fall in love with you.”
But instead of being happy, his comment makes her push him away.  “See!  That’s what I mean…  I-I can’t stay, don’t you get it?  I have to leave in a week, and I don’t want to hurt anyone when I do.  Please don’t make this harder then it has to be.”
“Do you care about me too Luce?”  His eyes search hers with a glimmer of hope.
Sigh, “Yes…”
“That’s good enough for me.” He smiles at her.  “At least I’ll be able to brag that I caught me a God.”
She starts to laugh.  “You are so weird.”
“I just wanted to see you smiling again.”
They arrive back in Magnolia on the last train.  On their way to the inn, “Tomorrow is the festival Luce, I’d still like to accompany you to it.”
“I’d still like that too Natsu.”
“Then I’ll be back in the morning at 9 again.” He kisses her hand, “Good night my goddess.”
She giggles, “Good night my fiery dragon.”
He grins, “I like that one…” and walks away.
Midway to his house he’s grabbed from behind.  “Alright spill it Natsu, what’s going on with Lucy?”  Erza’s got one arm, Gray’s got the other.
“What, she’s just a nice girl and I’m playing the tour guide.”
“Then where’d you guys go today, Levy said she saw you get on a train.”
“She wanted to go to the beach so we visited Aikane.”
“We already heard from witnesses about the boiling water incident.  Was that her?”
“No, it was me, she got me all riled up after she splashed me with a bucket of water.”
Gray snickers, “Aren’t you forgetting the part of your kiss?”
“How’d you…”
“Sources man, we have our sources.”
“Well there’s nothing more to tell.  Yeah so, I kissed her, what’s the big deal.”
Erza- “Natsu, I know you’ve never kissed a girl before.  What’s so special about this one?”
He runs his hand through his hair, “She’s just special to me I guess.”
Gray- “And it has nothing to do with her energy?  Haven’t you noticed her body temperature is just like yours, hotter than then the rest of us?”
“Maybe I did, but I didn’t think anything of it.  Can I go now?  Tomorrow is the festival and I promised to take her.”
Erza- “Natsu, you’d tell us if there was anything we needed to worry about, right?”
“Of course I would, now if you’ll excuse me…”  he walks away.
They watch him until they can’t see him anymore.  “Do you believe him Erza?”
“I have to say yes and no.  He’s not telling us everything… but I do believe him when he says she’s nothing for us to worry about.”
At 8:30am Lucy hears a knock on her door, “Hey Luce it’s me, hope I’m not too early.”
She opens the door, “No, I’m ready.  Good morning Natsu, you look nice today all dressed up.”
“Are you going to dress up too?”
“I didn’t know I was supposed to or even where to get a Yukata.”
He grins, “I can help you with that.  Let’s hurry so we can get you dressed and over to the festival.”
“How?” she asks as he pulls her out of the room.
“I know Mira will be able to help us at the guild.  Besides I wanted you to meet my best friend Happy, he just got back from a mission.”
Bursting through the doors he heads straight for the bar, “Mira, could you help Lucy, she’s never worn a yukata before.”
The white haired mage smiles, “I can’t say I remember you in one either, special occasion Natsu?”
He blushes, “Yeah, I wanted to go all out for her.”
Mira smirks at him then turns to Lucy, “We can definitely help you out.  Come with me.” She pulls the blonde with her.  Lucy gives Natsu a worried look.
“Don’t worry Luce, it’ll be okay.”
“I think I’ve got the perfect one for you to wear Lucy,” Mira smiles at her, “You’ll give Natsu a nose bleed for sure.”
Lucy blushes, “I-I don’t want to hurt him.”
“It’s just an expression.” She smiles, “He’s gonna love it on ya, trust me...”
“May I present Miss Lucy.” Mira grins to the fidgeting young man.
“Took long enough, the festival already…” Natsu’s jaw drops when she walks out.  “Wow…”  Lucy stands in front of him in a gorgeous silk yukata of red and black covered in embroidered dragon and star designs.  Her hair is up with pins and other hanging accessories that just adds to the overall look.
“Do you like it Natsu?”  Lucy blushes.  He’s speechless.  “Natsu?!”  She calls out as the man faints.
Slap.  “Get up man, the girl’s waiting for you!”  Natsu’s eyes pop open to see Gray standing above him.
“What happened?” he sits up
Snickering, “You fainted, you pansy.  Better hurry up the festival is starting already.” And pulls Natsu off the ground.
When he turns he sees Lucy waiting with a worried look on her face.  “Natsu are you okay?”
His cheeks turn pink, “I’m fine, we should ge… wait I wanted you to meet Happy.”
“I already did while you were passed out.  He said he’ll see you at the festival.”
“Oh.  Okay.”
While they walk to the festival, Natsu avoids looking at Lucy lest he might faint again but she won’t let him get away with that.  “Do you think Mira did a good job?” He just nods.  “She said she was gonna make your nose bleed, but I didn’t understand what she meant.”
“Figures…” he mutters.
“I’m sorry?”
“Mira… I shoulda figured she’d pull something like that.”
“So… you don’t like it?”
“No, it looks great on you.”  He squeezes her hand, “sorry, I didn’t mean to upset you.”
“I’m fine Natsu.  As long as you are.”
He grins again, “Couldn’t be better.”
Arriving at South Gate Park, Lucy’s hand flies up to her mouth, “It’s so beautiful…”  Everywhere she looks there is something new.  Vendors for food and souvenirs are spread out all over the park.  Large, colorful shaped origami, streamers, Matsuri and Kusudama paper decorations hang from trees and booths.  “Natsu there’s so much to see, I don’t know where to start!”
“Can we start with food, I’m hungry.”
She giggles, “You are always hungry.”
They find a vendor that sells Okonomiyaki and chicken Yakitori.  Lucy also orders some sweet red bean Taiyaki.  Natsu gobbles up his food quickly while she just eats and walks along.  “Lucy, we should go write our wishes.”
“Oh right, where do we go for that?”
“There should be a booth somewhere around here where you get the paper, we can keep looking around until we find it.”
Eventually Lucy sees an area with several bamboo branches covered with paper strips.  “Is that it Natsu?”
He looks where she is pointing, “Yeah.” Grabbing her hand as they walk over.  Natsu asks the lady at the booth for two tanzaku (paper) to write their wishes on; he hands Lucy one of them with a pen.
“Do you know what you plan to write?”
“I think so.”
“Me too.”
There are tables set up for people to write their messages before hanging them on the bamboo trees, neither waste any time as if they knew exactly what they planned to write before arriving today…
‘I wish to stay on Earthland with Natsu and live life as a human wizard.’
‘I wish Lucy could stay with me on Earthland and we live happily ever after.’
They both have blushes when they look up from their papers but before either can say anything, they hear someone calling, “Lushee!  Natsu!”
“Happy!” the blue cat flies into Natsu’s arms.  “Been awhile buddy!”
“Hi Happy,” Lucy smiles, “Nice to see you again.”
“You look pretty Lushee.”
“Awe, thank you Happy.”
“Hey Happy, do you think you could tie our wishes to the very top of the tree?”
“Sure Natsu.” He does as he is asked to.  “So, what are you guys doing?”
“Just looking around enjoying the festival.  What about you, where is Charle?”
“She’s with Wendy, the Kamishibai storytelling is starting soon.”
Natsu turns to Lucy, “Would you like to go watch too?”
“That sounds like fun.”
Happy leads them through the crowds to the booth where they find Wendy and Charle already seated.  By the time introductions are made, darkness falls on the festival bringing the lights and puppets on stage to life.
The friends didn’t know that Lucy knows this story all too well… ‘The tale of Tanabata.  Orihime, the daughter of Tentei, the Sky King would weave beautiful cloth (clouds) along the banks of the Amanogawa (Milky Way) because her father loved the cloth she would weave.  But she was sad because she wished to fall in love someday so her father arranged for her to meet someone, Hikoboshi who lived on the other side of the Amanogawa.  They two fell instantly in love and were married.  But after marrying, her father became upset that Orihime would no longer weave the cloths he wanted.  In anger, Tentei separated the two on opposite sides of the Amanogawa and forbade them from seeing each other again. Orihime was so distraught she begged her father who finally relented and told her if she worked hard all year with her weaving, then on the 7th day of the 7th month they could see each other.  So that is what she did, but that first year she went to the river only to find no bridge.  She cried and cried until a flock of Magpies came and created a bridge for her to cross.  It is said that if doesn’t rain on Tanabata it is good luck, because that means the magpies could make the bridge for the lovers, if not, they have to wait another year to see each other.’
Lucy sat quietly through the whole story.  The humans only regarded the tale as just a cute love story, but she knew that this really happened long, long ago; it was a tale that she never really thought much about until now.  Sitting next to Natsu, emotions flood her… She felt like Orihime about to be torn from her love but she didn’t want to alarm Natsu so she holds back her tears.
“Did you like the story,” Natsu turns to Lucy at the end.
“Mmhmm.” She nods, but he can sense the sadness and smell the excess salt in her eyes.
“What’s wrong Lucy?”
“It’s nothing.”
“I know that’s not true, I can feel it.  Your eyes… no tears but I can smell the change…”
“It’s…”
“I feel like Hikoboshi too…”
She looks into his softened eyes as a tear manages to break free.  “Please can we just not talk about this… it’s too sad, and I don’t want to ruin the happiness you’ve shown me.”
Natsu cups her cheek with his hand, “I’ve only known you for 3 days… but just the thought of not having you around…”
“I’ll be able to look down and see you, but… you won’t be able to see me.  I really feel like I found my…”
“Soulmate...”
She nods more tears trickling down, “I don’t wanna leave!”
“Lucy…” He wraps his arms around her waist and leans down to kiss her.  She wraps her arms around his neck and holds on wanting this moment to never end.  “I’ve fallen in love with you…” he whispers
“I, love you too Natsu.”
Wendy, Charle, and Happy sit silently watching the heartbreaking scene.  They have no idea what triggered it, but it is obvious something special is happening.
Out of nowhere, a bright beam descends upon the couple bathing them in a golden light.  The 3 three friends looking on, shield their eyes from its brilliance, confused, where is this light coming from?  The couple breaks from their exchange and Lucy looks to the sky, “Aunty Ama?”
A voice that only the couple can hear speaks.  “My darling niece, is your wish truly to stay with this man?”
“Yes aunty!  I love him.”
“And you Natsu, is your wish truly to have Lucy stay with you?”
“Yes!  I love her!”
“Very well.  Lucy, Natsu I will grant your star wishes because I see the pure love resting in your hearts.  Lucy, we will miss you but I will grant your second wish as well.  You will become a Celestial Spirit mage on Earthland.”  Three golden keys appear on her lap along with 2 silver ones.  “Take these to begin your new life.  Find the rest to fulfill your new destiny.”
“Oh, Aunty Amaterasu, I can really stay?”
“You’ll be human now, no longer immortal, but yes, if that is your wish, I just want to see you happy.”
“Thank you Aunty!”
“Thank you Amaterasu!”
“Take care of my niece Mr. Dragneel!”
“I promise, with my life!”
“Good bye you two and good luck.”  The light disappears.
“Natsu?!”  She grabs him in a hug.
“Lucy?!”  pulling her tight.
Charle- “Um, excuse me but… What the hell just happened!”
The young couple turn to their friends, “Oh.” Lucy looks to Natsu unsure of what to say. “We’ll tell everyone later, for now…” he looks back to Lucy, “we have some things we need to take care of.”  The couple stands up and leaves their friends sitting there dumbstruck.
While the pair walk towards the parks exit, Natsu puts his arm around Lucy’s waist, “Did that really just happen?  Did your aunt just make our Tanabata wishes come true?”
“I’m just as shocked as you are and yes, that seems to be what she did.  But now I don’t know what I’m supposed to do… I-I’ve never had to live, survive on my own before.”
“You won’t be alone Luce, we’ll all be by your side.”
“But where will I live, I-I’ll need to get a job I guess…”
“You can stay with me and Happy…” he squeezes her waist excited, “you can come with me to Fairytail!”
“Will that be okay?”
“Of course, like your aunt said, you’re a wizard now!” he grins
As the pair reach the sidewalk, Gray and Erza run up, “Hey you two, did you see that light coming from the sky?  It landed in the park!”
Natsu- “Oh yeah, that was just her aunt.”
Gray/Erza- “Huh!”
“I promise, tomorrow morning we’ll come to the guild and explain everything, but right now we need to get Lucy moved out of the inn and into my place.”
Gray- “But…”
Lucy- “I promise to tell you the truth tomorrow but Natsu is right plus I’m tired and I’d like to get some rest.”
Erza- “Fine, but if you don’t show up by 10, I’ll come lookin’ for you two.”
Natsu stiffens, “We’ll be there by 9:30.”
Erza and Gray step aside to let the couple leave.  “How can a light be her aunt?”
“I don’t know Gray, but we’ll just have to wait till tomorrow to find out.”
True to their word, by 9:30 the happy couple walks into the guild hall hand in hand to shock of everyone.  “Gramps,” Natsu grins, “Lucy here would like to join our guild.”
“On one condition, she needs to tell me the truth of where she came from.”
Lucy turns to him and smiles, “Where do you want me to begin?”
