Summary: Maybe a plane trip for the Christmas holidays can bring a surprise to your life when a handsome stranger sits next to you

With Christmas just around the corner, you found yourself at the airport on your way to your parents' house in Monte Carlo to celebrate the holidays with them and the rest of your family. You waited sitting in one of the seats that were distributed in the airport until they called to board your flight. After all the paperwork and waiting in a short line, you were finally sitting in your seat, for which you gave thanks since it was next to the window, and settled there for the long flight that awaited you to Monaco.

You did not want to be impertinent, but you prayed that no one would sit next to you who could bother you during the trip. Clearly someone had to listen to your pleas because soon the seat next to you was occupied by a man who seemed to be your age, and who seemed too handsome at first glance. The man sat in his corresponding place and turned to look at you, smiling politely. He had a beautiful smile with dimples that you guessed had been the cause of many women's fainting spells. You smiled back and fell silent, each focused on his world as the plane took off. When you were already in the air, you noticed out of the corner of your eye how the boy looked at you from time to time, as if he expected something from you.

"So, are you traveling to Monaco for work or are you going on vacation?" You turned to the voice that had spoken next to you and quickly answered it.

“I am going to spend Christmas with my family. I don't see them all year because I live far away so it's the best time” you answered his question. "And you?"

"Me too. I was born in Monaco and my family lives there too” he answered you back. “By the way, I'm sorry for my manners. My name is Charles” I hold out a hand to greet you.

“I’m y/n” you grabbed his hand to shake it.

"My pleasure, y/n" your name sounded lovely when he said it.

You spent the rest of the flight talking about everything you could think of. You talked about Monaco and how you grew up there. You told him how you had always wanted to get out of Monte Carlo and see the opportunities you had elsewhere, and Charles told you how he had gotten the job of his dreams since he was a child. You were so in awe of him that you didn't even ask him what said job was. Maybe if you had done it, a lot of things would have changed. But maybe fate didn't want you to. Maybe it was better that you and Charles just met like that, without knowing anything about each other.

When after long hours the flight finally landed, you and Charles wanted it to take as long as it could. But unfortunately everything ended and soon you were out of the plane, about to separate. Charles was the first to grab your arm before you left.

“I don't know if it seems rushed, but would you mind giving me your number? I'd like to keep getting to know you, if that's okay with you” he looked doubtful as he asked you.

"Yes of course, I would also like to get to know you more" clearly you were not going to let the handsome stranger go.

Charles handed you his phone that he took out of his jeans pocket and you wrote down your number and your name along with a heart on it.

Finally, you reluctantly parted. You thought of each other all the way to your respective homes, and even during the holidays you couldn't get the moment you had spent on that plane out of your minds.

Charles was the first to calm his need and he spoke to you the day after the flight, and you both were talking every day without fail of that vacation, and finally, a few days before having to return to your routine life, Charles asked you to go to a date, since you were both in Monaco. You were both very happy to see each other again and you enjoyed every second of the date. And at the end of it when Charles walked you home, he revealed to you that he was Charles Leclerc, and although you didn't recognize his name, he was patient in explaining who he was and what he did. Obviously after finding out you wanted to know a lot more about him, and Charles was more than willing to take you with him to any race next season.

Meeting you had been unexpected, but you weren't going to complain about it. After all, you had been complete strangers.

First, Thank you @watercolor-hearts for tagging me! when i saw it i knew it wouldnt be an easy task (mostly because i love to talk a lot lmao) but i liked the concept and felt that it would be interesting way to dive more into the ships i am fond of.

Pairing/Shippy list!

Here are the rules:

7. Ziam (Zayn/Liam Payne) (One Direction)

weird way to start this list, since its not f1 related, and i very much believe it's a dead ship now. But honestly they deserve this honorable mention for being the first ship i adopted, and i didnt even care about One Direction or their music around that time (in fact i cant remember even how i stumbled upon this ship lmao). These two together just had so much chemistry for me, either on stage, interviews, or anything really. also they were my introduction to this whole idea of "ship" (Larry was the absolute more popular one obviously, but it was Ziam that really SUCKED me in like a vacuum cleaner). Unfortunately, Liam's distasteful comments last year bursted my bubble about them (even though he has explained this year he wasn't in a good place, and i personally think they are okay with each other, even though still distant), but i still like to watch their compilation videos on youtube sometimes, it's quite bittersweet :')

6. Martian (Sebastian Vettel/Mark Webber) (Formula 1)

honestly i feel i just dont put these two higher because they feel somewhat new to me, like i need to dive into them more. I just think its such a fun ship in the sense that it has a looot of things going on at the same time, their very public rivalry and the famous multi 21, mark's angry face at that one press conference, it could be so so angsty but they just make me laugh (also, the making love on track quote is now burned into my brain so in no way they could be out of this list).

5. Christian horner/Toto wolff (Formula 1)

okay okay this is the part yall realize im actually crazy. but... they DO have chemistry when they are interacting, even in their non-amicable moments, and i do love myself some good enemies to lovers. Obviously it helps that i think they both are very actrattive, sexy middle aged men that have hunger for victory and i believe they hold so much respect and admiration for each other, considering they are the two most sucessfull TP's at this point. Also, HEIGHT DIFFERENCE.

4. Versainz (Max Verstappen/Carlos Sainz) (Formula 1)

(i wanted to find that ONE gif where he lifts carlos a little so bad but this one will do) Oh, this one really rocketed fast into my favorites. I just think they are just so wholesome. I always feel Max is warmer towards a certain number of drivers, and Carlos is one of them. And i dont even ship them in a ... kind of way, even tho it makes sense in my head the narrative that both were each others "first's" before going into bigger ships. Its just that it feels so special that both debuted together as teammates and, both took different trajectories in the way their career planned out, but theres still a genuine connection between them, at least in my view.

3. Maxiel (Max Verstappen/Daniel Ricciardo) (Formula 1)

I know its weird because i dont really post about them. But this falls into the same category as versainz for me, except that here there's a kind of dynamic that it makes me go "hmm... interesting". I always like to see max smiling and being happy because this boy went thru so much in his childhood, and oh how Daniel knows how to bring this side of Max. If Max can be warmer to certain drivers, for Daniel he has a whole SOFT SPOT, and i think that's very endearing. IMO, Daniel feels like the person that changed him in deeper ways we know, that one person that was indirectly a "life teacher" to him maybe, and thats special to me.

2. Brocedes (Lewis Hamilton/Nico Rosberg) (Formula 1)

Oh, the ANGSTY in this one. yes, this one deserves the ANGSTY in all caps because to me that's them. Oh to have lived through their divorce must have been heartbreaking but what a freaking cinematic ship this one is. I just can't ignore it. How it feels to me that Nico is the one who wears his heart on his sleeve, while Lewis has that chilling Capricorn control over his emotions is so. just so. And the fact that Nico's legacy is forever entangled in Lewis' name. If a movie screenwriter would come up with this, i'd think it would be overdramatic, but no, theyre actually this unhinged.

Charlos (Charles Leclerc/Carlos Sainz) (Formula 1)

how do i even start talking about these two idiots? Okay, so obviously i think they're both very attractive and that definetely helped me to ship them lmao. But thats kind of reductive, because these two have sooo much chemistry in my opinion, even before their ferrari days, there was so much potential waiting to bloom, and it did. I love their banter, their competitiveness, how they can get childlike around each other sometimes. How they are so physical, how they make each other laugh (let me not talk about their gazes to each other or i will not end this today). I love how Carlos doesn't hide he wants to compete with Charles (which brings him unnecessary hate sadly), and how both respect each other in this stance. There's a bit of angsty underneath this soft/fluffy surface too (more from Carlos' perspective imo - but lets not forget Charles and Silverstone 2022 too - this is my charlos angsty origin story), but they still find their way, and that kind of compels me even more into them. I just think theres so many layers, multitudes, in the way we can create, write and read about them. Absolute favorites.

Trying to distract myself so to make the wait for next episode go faster but unable to completely shut down my 911ls monkey brain... How long do you think the owen&nazis storyline will span? We know it will be till at least ep6 but will it be the last? Will that storyline be wrapped up by ep8 when supposedly him and tk will talk? Or it will be a season long thing?

Personally I hope it will end soon, I dislike when specific villains drag on for an entire season. And I also would like lighter and funnier stories for Owen, like wedding shenanigans. I'm also hoping to see again his brother Robert, ideally with tk too,but I know I'm probably asking too much on that front.

I am seriously hoping it is all tied up by the end of 4x06 – I am also hoping that we don’t see a lot of it in 4x05 – that the truly focus on the Marjan & Grace storylines for the bulk of that episode.

I kinda think there might be some kind of cliffhanger at the end of 4x05 – to lead us into the end of this Owen is so desperate for friends his age that he almost joined a group of Nazis for a cool new nickname arc (sorry that is pretty much how I refer to it in my head.)

There are some things I really have liked about this arc:

Showed how easy it is for groups to entice new members – Make them feel like they have a place they can belong – but that the groups will do so while they hide their true intentions. *Owen is WANTS friends his own age – he doesn’t tend to look below the surface of people until someone else (in this & a lot of other cases – that is Judd) open his eyes.

Showing how these types of groups want to appeal to & add first responders to their numbers – it gives them a sense of legitimacy in their actions & goals (at least to themselves). – O’Brien being a founder is something that didn’t shock me at all – I said all along he was higher in the hierarchy than we were being shown at first. While he may have gotten out – It's not really easy to leave a criminal organization – even if you are a cop.

BUT – I think it would be great to have an Owen arc where he realizes he CAN’T always be the ‘hero’, the one in the thick of it. Where he doesn’t save the day.

They have this weird obsession with making him this big hero type character – but, they do it in a way that makes him look so incredibly stupid and naïve about how people are. Every time I watch these first 3 episodes, I just think he is more and more stupid.

In 4x02 Owen asked the FBI agent if it was him, that when it came to him making male friends his own age & shit inevitably goes wrong – Is the problem him? I yelled “Yes, it is you.”

He needs to look around him – see that what he is looking for while he fucks shit up with people like O’Brien, Billy, & Red – he already has – just with a guy that is a bit younger (Judd), a woman who is closer in age (Tommy), and the twenty-something that he practically adopted (Mateo).

Owen/Rob absolutely kills the comedic scenes –I love those scenes – the one in 4x02 of him & Tommy in his office makes me tear up from laughing so much. For me, these are his stronger scenes/performances. But they built the character up as this huge hero – a lot from being a 9/11 survivor – that they keep throwing him in these plotlines that have nothing to do with being a fire captain – just a naïve adrenaline junkie – and they keep making them longer and longer.

I understood why they stretched out the ice storm in season 3, there was so much going on – FOR EVERYONE – that they had to stretch it out. But, for season 4, they started with 3 main storylines:

Tommy & Reverend Parks – This was one of the focuses for the 1st two episodes – and will be coming back – this I think is one of the 2 season long arcs – Tommy really moving on after Charles

Carlos is married/Iris & Carlos getting kidnapped – This arc will be wrapped up this week (TOMORROW!!!) – but it only a piece of what I think the other season long arc is – Tarlos wedding (I am really leaning into it being at the end of the season). We will be getting pieces of this arc until the end.

Owen & the nazis. – I don’t know why they had to stretch this one through six episodes – unless they are running out of ideas for Owen – which, if that is the case, I have some they can use.

*The stills for 4x06 show Owen, O’Brien, the male FBI guy in the hospital room of Red (that is who it looked like to me) – So I do think that ep ends it. (Or at least I am trying to convince myself that it does).

Owen being desperate for male friends in his age bracket that will instead, just help him fuck up his own life is the series arc. Really all this rambling to say that I really hope the nazis are gone by the end of 4x06 – like really hoping.

I don’t think I will ever be able to trust a dude that is roughly Owen’s age that wants to be his friend – his track record is not encouraging.

Okay, so. The first part of this might be really boring because Lewis is not really someone my brain wants to ship with other people? (actually, wrong, I 100% support whatever he has going one with Miles Chamley-Watson, give me more)

He’s not the only person my brain does that with, not even the only F1 driver, but, yeah.

Brocedes

I see the appeal. I’ve said it before, I can really dig a dynamic where there is an ennemies bit at some point. Maybe I’d need to give some fics a chance and I’d enjoy them, I wouldn’t be surprised about that, just haven’t done it yet.

Sewis

I don’t see it. Friends, yes, for sure, more so in the second part of Seb’s carreer, but I think that’s it. I know they’re very popular and I’ve seen them as a background pairing in some fics I’ve read but I don’t know, they don’t work romantically in my head and I’m fairly sure they don’t work sexually either.

Lewis/Valtteri

Friends and I adore their friendship also I do feel sad for Valtteri when I see some stuff from the Merc dominance era and what they asked of him as a number 2 driver.

I see Valtteri as a really nice guy and I love how into cycling and supporting his wife he is. It’s in fic and RPF mode that I can’t perceive him, so, that doesn’t help either.

Lewis/Lando

No. I can understand why, kind of, maybe for a one nightstand, but no.

Lewis/George

Honestly, I want to say why not, in some context, maybe more AU ones than their current situation at Merc.

Lewis/Max

Max is someone that I can ship with a lot of people in different kind of ways (Charles, Daniel, Lando, Rico, etc) but Lewis no. I see them as way too different for something to work there.

Fabio/Lando

I adore rare pairs but I admit I’m not exactly sure where this one is coming from besides the pics from AD 2019? I like both of them on their own but I don’t really see them having vibes that mesh together, I must admit.

Marc/Carlos

So, you’re talking to the person who is responsible for 50% of their tag on AO3 (a whooping 3 out of 6 works, one of them is my prompts fills collection and I have 3 mini stories dedicated to them) and I also wrote a whole primer for them (and did two gifsets about them). But like, I am normal about them, I swear.

They just work so well? Like, you can tell that they have fun when they have to film stuff together and they’re big supporters of each other, Carlos helped Marc settle in Madrid when he got there, they train together sometimes, Carlos was at the Marquez place to watch the Japan-Spain game during the World Cup and they look so boyfriends™️ in that whole sequence of All In.

They may not have had the same success so far in their carreer but they’re of similar age and they definitely understand each other, the pressure of their daily life and all that. They can both tease each other (as evidenced by numerous videos) (by the way, obvio que te gustaria and tú, cuando pruebas la mía still live rent free in my mind to this day). So, like I said : they work.

Look at them. Boyfriends.

Fabio/Maverick

I feel like I say this way too often and I need my brain to stop but my view of this pairing has forever been altered by Fabio answering Maverick when asked who on the grid he gets along with the least, in that podcast in February.

I started watching MotoGP too late to know them as teammates and I know there is some history™️ but yeah, my conception of them is tinted by that. Also Maverick is also one of the guys I don’t know how to perceive and I’m too influenced by what they show in MotoGP Unlimited (and I prob need to consume other content of him to really get him).

Today on ‘Fanfics I am not going to write but think about constantly’: the boys never die AU where Reggie is dating Widower Ray.

Sunset Curve makes it big, does all the tours, wins all the platinums, buys all the mansions. Well, Bobby does. Alex and Willie get a nice big house somewhere quiet, and Luke and Reggie have no clue what to do with all their money, so Luke buys a music shop downtown with an apartment above it and Reggie is like: dude can I move in with you the thought of a big empty house freaks me out.

(He eventually moves into his own apartment because for some reason Luke doesn’t like that Reggie’s dog wakes him up with kisses every morning, as if that is not a GIFT, Patterson, she is showing you she LOVES YOU you monster.)

So Reggie is like: still don’t like that empty apartment, kind of want to date, kind of don‘t know where to start because all the beautiful famous people at Bobby’s parties make me feel all tongue-tied, kind of want to meet someone romantically at the dog park but turns out 95% of dog owners are kindly old people and/or are already in a committed relationship. So he sulks on Alex and Willie’s couch while Willie gives Ellie The Dog all the bellyrubs and Alex tells him: dude just try a dating app.

And they basically steal his phone and go through his pictures and force him to take a cute one with Ellie because according to Willie ‘pictures of dudes with dogs are 100% panty-droppers’. And because Alex is an asshole he also installs grindr because if Reggie is too busy getting laid he’ll stop moping on their couch.

And Reggie doesn’t notice for like three weeks, and he goes on some awkward coffee dates, and he probably gets accused of catfishing at least once (and you know Luke laughs at him and tells everyone and they make a big deal of ‘how do we know you’re really Reggie Peters’ at the next rehearsal).

And then Reggie finally finds Grindr on his phone and he kind of freaks out (especially because Alex knows Reggie too well so his profile is eerily accurate and his age range is embarrassingly on point). So he kind of turns it on at the dog park one day and oh god oh god someone shot him a message.

And it turns out it’s a really hot photographer who was scouting for a location and instead of hooking up Reggie helps him find great spots in his neighbourhood for this couple’s engagement shoot because he jogs all over with Ellie so he knows all the best spots. And okay maybe they make out against Ray’s car a little and exchange numbers and go on a real date a few days later.

And things get serious and it’s really cute and Ray meets the guys and they only tease Reggie a little about his Silver Fox Thing. Alex is very smug that he got Reggie not only laid but a real boyfriend. Well done him he expects flowers and baked goods as a thank you.

And Reggie and Ray have a very serious conversation about Ray’s kids and Rose and Reggie is like: I like that you still wear your wedding ring. I like that your love is forever. I’m just glad there’s room in your heart for me too.

And Ray is like: Rose would have loved you.

Because they talked about it before she died and she wanted him to move on and be happy, as long as that someone was good for the kids.

And Ray eventually introduces him to his kids, and Reggie is So Nervous because he wants them to like him and also live up to what Rose wanted for Ray. Carlos is pretty chill about it and also thinks it’s hilarious that this Big Cool Rockstar is in fact a total dork just like his dad and he and Reggie totally have this big discussion about ghosts and Bigfoot and aliens.

And Julie is a little wary because she knows how shitty The Media can be and she doesn’t want her dad to get hurt. But she relaxes when she realises Reggie is doing his very best not to get them dragged into that. And she’s just happy because he makes her dad Happy. So the next time he’s over she wears her mom’s old Sunset Curve shirt in silent approval and Reggie is like: omg those are so old did you find that at a vintage store or something?

And Julie is like: no it was my mom’s. She always told the story about how you guys got food poisoning and she had to drive your rhytmn guitarist to the hospital.

And Reggie is like: oh yeah I remember that gig haha we went out for street dogs after the show and then nearly died, your mom was really cool anyway I need to talk to your dad brb.

But inside he’s going: oh no oh no oh no I flirted with Ray’s wife, I tried to hit on Ray’s wife, aaaaaaaaaaaaa.

And Reggie confesses all miserably and awkwardly because this seems like the kind of thing he should tell his boyfriend, what if she and Ray had already been dating back then? Had his seventeen year old self been a homewrecker? Meanwhile Ray is just dying laughing like: she only kept the shirts of bands she liked, so see, I told you Rose would have loved you. Also if you think she took you seventeen year old idiots seriously for a second you’re kidding yourself.

The only one who isn’t a fan is Victoria. She worries about Reggie’s influence on the kids, being a Rockstar and all (and is not reassured when Carlos tells her he’s ‘a big nerd who likes math’). And that he’s almost ten years younger than Ray. So one day she Says Something, and Reggie tries to explain how he’s trying very hard to keep the kids out of the press and also be a good role model, and then Ray is all: Enough. This is the man I want to spend the rest of my life with or however long we’re granted, Victoria.

And everyone goes quiet and Reggie is all big-eyed because he was like ‘sure Ray likes me now and I met his kids but he’s going to get sick of me touring and being famous and all that eventually’.

And they never get married, but they do get matching bracelets, and Reggie never ever takes his off because well, his love is forever too.

High School Musical: The Musical: The Series: The Rewatch pt. 4

I really need a pick-me-up after 2x11, and I feel like 1x7 might be what I'm looking for, so here I am again with another HSMTMTS rewatch. I'm genuinely so excited for both of these episodes, so without further ado, let's jump right into

1x6: She stands for... lies, pressure and very inappropriate suggestions (coming here after 2x11 might have been a mistake, actually)

I honestly don't get why Nini's reaction to seeing Ricky in full Troy costume was so big — he actually looked pretty ok to me. Sure, the wig is a bit too much, but so what, it's cute.

Ahhh my boy Reddy is so adorable in that talking head... 'click!' Gosh, I love seeing him so cheerful! Guess he's embracing his role as part of the crew. As he should.

'I'm home'. Yes, Sebby, and you look so good, too! Gosh, I love this scene so much. I can't believe I'd forgotten about it.

Gina looks beautiful, though — I mean, she looks beautiful in anything, but I really like the Taylor look on her.

Ok, I fully understand everyone's frustration about this picture — it's genuinely so hard to get a good picture of someone jumping up in the air, and I can only imagine what it would be like with six people. A bunch of my classmates tried to do something like that ages ago and, needless to say, it didn't go very well. No good pictures were taken that day.

Ah, Portwell: the early days. Ok, but wanting something and feeling like you have to get it is far from the same thing, EJ. Honestly, these two in their early days as accomplices... this is not the first time they've been like 'X is the same thing as Y' when it's obviously not. I mean, of course, that time they became accomplices because 'we want the same thing' — which, at that point, they didn't.

Ok, but they were in such unison with that 'Not now!'... couple goals! You know, even before either of them had considered the possibility of them being a couple for real.

That's a lot of pressure that Miss Jenn is putting on dear Carlito over there. I mean, he's one of the youngest at the drama club and he has to essentially do her job for her, all while she's not even sure if she'll be able to return to her job. I just... keep reminding myself that these kids are closer in age to my little brother than they are to me (except for EJ, who is precisely in the middle), and then the pressure they're under takes on completely new proportions in my mind. None of them should have to deal with all of this. And no amount of 'trust the process' is making it better.

'Should I just live vicariously through someone else?' Oh Reddy, you should just live for yourself. I mean, the truth is I don't practice what I preach most of the time, but I really do mean this. Just go out there and live your best life. You're not Ricky's therapy dog or anything (that being said, Ricky's getting a therapy dog when?).

What part of 'a forest of boys' does Nini not get? It's simple enough. Just help Carlos do his job, how about that? I mean, he shouldn't have to do everything himself anyway.

See? He cracked. That's what happens when you put all this responsibility on a teen's shoulders and be like 'deal with it'. He was just trying his best, you guys. He did not deserve all the clapback.

Ricky's forced optimism about Miss Jenn and the show is too much even for me. Sure, I know everything turns out mostly alright at the end, but this just sounds like Ricky's on the verge of a breakdown. You know, every time someone's been too unrealistically positive on this show, it has ended in a breakdown. And that's the last thing I want.

I do agree about the simple acoustic version of the song, though. Sometimes simple is the best option.

Major props to Carlos for going up to Mr. Mazzara like that. If someone had bullied me, and especially if that someone was a teacher, I'd never have dared to call them 'Benjamin Mazarra!' to their face. Even when he's on the verge of despair, this boy is still the boldest. And we love him for that.

Is this where the 'Carlos Surname' joke started, though? I had forgotten. It was funny while it lasted.

Ricky doesn't know it yet, but he's seriously playing with Gina's feelings there. And I don't blame him because, again, he doesn't know yet, but I still feel bad for her.

'Despite the 4.3 GPA, I'm actually an idiot.' — EJ is high intelligence, low wisdom, confirmed. Not that this is news, but I really don't remember much about this season, so I'm pointing this out now.

Now forgive me if I'm not feeling for Miss Jenn after 2x11... she did some really unforgivable things there. Still, as much as I want to say a real qualified teacher would not do any of that, my personal experience suggests otherwise, quite unfortunately. Miss Jenn might not be very emotionally mature, but not having legal teaching credentials is not her biggest issue, really. It is precisely her lack of emotional maturity.

OMG, Big Red accidentally invited the entire drama club over! And that, I guess, is half of how Redlyn established themselves as the hosts of every out-of-school drama club gathering. Thanksgiving is, of course, the other half. Gosh, those two were the parents of the drama club even before they were a couple. Guess they're soulmates in that way, too.

Ok, so I didn't comment on this after 2x8 when Big Red did it to Ricky, but now that I finally notice that Seb did it to Carlos, too (I took my time, thanks), I need to talk about the knee touch thing. See, this is exactly the amount of touch I used to be comfortable with (since I'm very touch-averse) — both on the giving and on the receiving end — and it can mean so much when you feel bad. It's a subtle 'hey, I'm here, it's going to be fine', a sort of hug-without-the-hugging... I feel like this is a gesture we don't see enough of in media and it can feel just as intimate as, say, holding hands or cuddling. I don't want to talk about kissing because I don't know anything about it. But I just love how we've got the knee touch depicted by both a romantic pairing and a platonic pairing in the show. Ok, rant over. But I just really wanted to talk about this because, well, I saw myself in it.

'Her past is a little bit sketchy'... I see, Ash has already started writing Truth, Justice and Songs in Our Key, even if she doesn't know it quite yet.

Miss Jenn finding out Mike is Ricky's dad is just as awkward as it should be. Whatever they had going on should have ended right then and there.

'... people in the dramatic arts are insane' — 'Thank you.' — Umm, Miss Jenn, you are not really helping your case there. Quite frankly, you're lucky you've got the allegiance of the entire drama club. I don't think they'd have your back as much after 2x11, though.

Ok, but... Big Red wearing a longcoat just to take it off for the dramatic flair of it all? An icon if I've ever seen one. Also, mad props to Larry for apparently learning this number in record time after Dara got injured.

Oh, and... mad props to all the kids in-universe for writing, rehearsing, and learning this entire number in one night.

So both Seb and Natalie have solo lines in the song... and Seb was promoted to main in s2. So does this mean Natalie will get the same treatment in s3? I mean, that will probably mean they'll try to stick her in some sort of romantic plot, and I really don't need that, but I really, really want her to be a main character.

Also, let's not forget we had our first Redlyn moment in this number... seeing them dance together makes my heart jump with joy!

I won't lie, though, the entire dance number and everything was just a little bit uncomfortable to watch after 2x11... these kids do so much for Miss Jenn, and what does she do? Put insane amounts of pressure on some of them, shuts others down at every attempt to put in a word, favours yet others despite their abysmal performance at the audition, and then has the audacity to tell that same person to jump off of something high, with all the implications attached? Not that I'm naming any names, of course. Ok, this has taken a sudden and uncalled for turn for the dark, so I guess I'll just move right along to the next episode now.

1x7: A world where 'That was terrible!' and 'I'm so happy!' can both be true at the same time

My girl Ash is doing the recap! And she's a pun queen, too. 'Miss Jenn was in hot water, Carlos was a hot mess...' — not pleasant, but so true. But wbk. Ashlyn is the best.

And... Ricky and Nini's on and off chemistry is back on. Good for them, because after season 2, I really needed to see a good rehearsal. But I'm thinking EJ's joy at the end-of-school bell had little to do with Thanksgiving...

That look Reddy gave Ashlyn as she was walking out... might be me digging for breadcrumbs, but I think I just saw the exact moment my boy fell, and he fell hard. Ok, I realise now after I've said this that 'fall' probably isn't the best choice of words, but you know what I mean. Fell for Ashlyn. Not like... oh, never mind.

'So meek, so mild, sword!' I can't really explain it, but I love this line. And I feel like it describes Ash so perfectly: like, she might be meek and mild, but if you cross her, she's armed. Gosh, I love her!

Not the Caswell parents leaving their children alone over two holiday breaks! No wonder these two are the way they are. But they're about to get a beautiful Thanksgiving celebration. [Fun personal fact: the year I was born, my birthday fell on Thanksgiving day. That doesn't mean much in Bulgaria, but my dad works with a lot of Americans so my parents knew about it and I've known this and that about this holiday I've never celebrated since I was very young. I have no idea why I'm telling you this, but Thanksgiving has always reminded me of my birthday for this reason, so... ok, moving on.]

So I know she kind of suggested it, but... why does Carlos think it's his place to invite people over to Ashlyn's? I mean, this was part 2 of Redlyn establishing themselves as the hosts for any out-of-school gathering, but... oh well, it led to a beautiful party with everyone, so... I'll allow it.

I really liked Nini's talk with her grandma. It was really nice, and a very fitting way to remind everyone what Thanksgiving is originally about. I feel like people often forget that when it comes to... literally every major commercialised holiday.

Wow, EJ really is that person where once the tap is open, it can't stop spilling. And I kind of like that look on him. It's a transitional stage between EJ 1.0 and EJ 2.0, and I appreciate it for what it is.

Ahhhh it's Redlyn's first proper 1-on-1 conversation! I mean, it got kind of really awkward really quickly because of — surprise, surprise — Nini and Ricky (and EJ), but those two are so adorable! No more breadcrumbs — we're about to get an entire five-course meal here! Which goes really well with the Thanksgiving setting, now that I think of it.

Gosh, they've never really talked and my boy whips out the 'the only thing I'd ever throw at your face is a brighter spotlight' line right off the bat? Boy is whipped! But like, he is the master of grand gestures where Ashlyn is concerned. Still, in this first moment they shared, he really was like, go big or go home, and home isn't really an option here. But I should have known, it's in his name after all. Gosh, I love both of those two so much! Especially when they're together.

Ok, so... this is a really bad way to meet your mother's new boyfriend. Poor Ricky. As if ringing his mum wasn't hard enough already.

See, when I rewatch season 1, I get where the Rina stans are coming from, but then again, remember when I used to say I wanted Gina and EJ to just be friends? Yeah, that's changed too. Not that I ever shipped Rina romantically — I rarely ever ship a pairing unless they're explicitly stated to have something going on, just because I can't see that sort of stuff very clearly — but I really, really want them (Ricky and Gina, I mean) to be really good friends. Once they get past the awkwardness of their sort of history, I mean.

I miss the good old days when Nini was a nice person... I mean, we kind of (really) had a glimpse of that in 2x11 (I'm guessing she was making up for Miss Jenn's very inappropriate slip-up), but I miss the days before she was this big internet-famous songwriter and actually had to be convinced by Ashlyn that she should write songs for herself... wait, now that I think of it... Ashlyn might have helped create a monster there. Oh well. Still love her so much!

You know, I love the Choosical, but it's all a bit sad, if you stop to think about it for a sec. Just picture little single-digit-aged Carlito making this whole thing up in an attempt to participate in his favourite thing... only to not have anyone to play with for the next ten years. Great, I just made myself cry. The thing is, I relate to that story a bit too much. I remember in preschool, when the rest of the children would play together, I'd sit in a corner by myself and read the only book that was there... over and over, day after day. I don't even remember a single thing about that little book right now, but back then I clung to it like it was everything. And I couldn't very much share the experience with any of my peers, seeing as I was the only kid there who could actually read (my grandma used to be a preschool teacher and she taught me to read when I was 4). So yeah. I went off on a rather personal tangent there. Thing is, I know how little Carlos felt and I'm so happy that he finally gets to share this thing he made with a loving and supportive group of friends. Everything has its time and place, I guess.

'Look, I'm not following Big Red just because he paid me a compliment' — of course not, dear, you know your own worth and we love that for you — but see, when he said that thing that you're referring to as a compliment, he did not lie! You really are the brightest star and deserve the brightest spotlight. See, the thing I love most about Redlyn's compliments to each other is that they're so sincere and state nothing but the absolute truth. Those two just see each other for what they are, and love each other as they are. And I think that is beautiful.

It's so funny to me every time someone gets something wrong and Carlos just walks past them out of nowhere and corrects them without missing a beat. I kind of relate to that side of him, too. Except it's usually about grammar and language in my case, not HSM trivia.

If I were Nini in this scene, and was suddenly put face to face with Emily on the spot like that, I would not have been able to handle it. So props to Nini for handling it.

Yeah, sorry to break it to you, Emily dear, but whatever you're doing is not a Cockney accent. I don't claim to be an accent expert, but I know first-hand what Cockney sounds like and... that's just not it. Even Dick Van Dyke was closer to a Cockney accent in Mary Poppins, and that's saying something. (See, I feel bad criticising any aspect of Emily because her actress is no longer with us, but... I have no idea who let them get away with passing this off as Cockney).

Is this the beginning of Jennzara there? I am loving this.

Of course Carlos was obsessed with Glee as a kid... but wasn't he a bit too young for it when it aired? I know I was, and I'm older than those kids. I mean, I waited until I was emotionally mature enough to watch Glee, and that wasn't until 3 years ago, when I was 18 going on 19. Ok, I'm thinking too much into this. Moving on.

Ahhhhh, Redlyn! Just... all of their moments. But screaming the lyrics of What I've Been Looking For on top of their lungs while looking right at each other... was so beautiful to watch. Give me more of that!

EJ: 'That was terrible.' Seb: 'I'm so happy!' — Moods, both of them. Those two are real-life emojis, aren't they? And we love them for that.

'... without laughing... or killing each other.' — I feel like that last specification was needed given that it's Ricky and EJ we're talking about, and especially what happened last time they had to do a one-on-one exercise during rehearsal. The ensuing scene, however, is the most hilarious thing!

Root beer, huh? Is that the HSMTMTS code for 'awkward' now? I mean, Nini and Gina had a nice talk there, all things considered. I really want the two of them to put the Ricky thing past them and be friends... but we'll see.

Gina is trying to make the sleepover thing look like 'it's not a big deal' despite how big of a deal it obviously is to her... to which I say, good for you, girl, but I wouldn't know. The only sleepovers I've ever had have been with my little cousin who is 9 years younger than me and also insists on sleeping with a very bright nightlight on, which means I can't sleep at all. So yeah, I wouldn't know. But I'm happy that Gina is feeling included.

So this is the exact moment when it becomes clear that Big Red is not telling us the complete truth when it comes to his HSM knowledge... '14 and 10'? Even I didn't know that. I knew 14, but... for someone who allegedly 'hates musicals', my boy has very detailed knowledge of one certain musical movie... I love how it got him a certain girl's attention, though. Not that she wasn't already paying attention to him, if you catch my drift.

Ok, but this hits even harder now than it did the first time — just when Gina has finally managed to make friends, to feel included in their group, her mum has to move her away again. This is straight-up tragic. I'll say it now, and I'll probably say it again when it comes up in the rewatch — Ashlyn is an absolute queen for taking Gina in for the next semester.

'That's sort of what you always do, huh? Take care of everyone else' — yeah, Ash, and you do the same. You two just need someone to do for you what you do for other people. See, guys, this is what I mean. This is why they're soulmates. Because in a world that has more or less forced both of them to put others first, they put each other first. They each get to be the most important person to each other after they've been stepping back for others all the time. And if that isn't beautiful, I don't know what is. I know I'm repeating myself over and over saying this, but... they own my heart and soul and I'm not for sale.

Ok, but Ashlyn's little run after Big Red left was so cute! Girl is... I don't know why I keep using that word, but... falling.

Unpopular opinion: Out of the Old is the best Nini solo to come out of this series to date. Maybe I feel that way just because I relate to it most, but hey, that is a valid reason to like something.

Oof, EJ's losing followers. Oh well, if they're unfollowing him for being too honest, they didn't like the real him to begin with. So good riddance to them.

Yikes... Jennzara fell asleep with flammable stuff left unattended... we all know how that ended, but just the fact that they felt comfortable enough to fall asleep in each other's presence... speaks volumes. So I guess... well, I don't know what exactly I'm saying regarding the fire they caused, but I loved this big little moment they had.

So this is it. That was 1x6 and 7 and, well, they were beautiful, but there are some parts I can't look at in the same way anymore after 2x11. Guess that's the risk of a rewatch. The Redlyn scenes, though — still the best part of both of these episodes. That and a couple of other things for which I don't need to pretend like I haven't seen season 2.

A random thought: Because it’s Disney, Descendants doesn’t touch on prostitution, human trafficking, and violent sexuality and at a very early age that the VK had to live, as happens in the real world in invasions, guerrillas (child soldiers), street children or centers penitentiaries not properly regulated (such as the Isle of the Lost, a prison without guards and any law). But I don’t touch on the subject because it’s something very real and strong to expose it like that with the fandom but due to my profession and work, it’s something that my brain always remembers. Also, I don't like it when people treat these topics just for shock value.

An unpopular opinion: It's visibly awkward that ships and popular characters are mostly white. And I mean in the content of the fandom. Although we talk about the racism that exists in the canon, very few people seek to balance the numbers with new contributions (whether with content with canon characters, OCs, or y/n). I don't know if it makes sense. But it seems that it is easy to talk about racism but not do something actively to include BIPOC characters (This is why I get excited when I find people drawing Audrey, Jay, Evie, Uma, and others without lightening their skin tone or writing fics with BIPOC y/n or creating things with the BIPOC canon characters as their main characters)

Pairing I am not a fan of: Any ship with Mal. Especially Mal canon. And I HATE Mal x Uma, Audrey x Mal and Ben x Mal. Because of the toxic and abusive environment.

Character I feel the writers screwed up (in one way or another):

Chad Charming. From the start, Chad, Cinderella's son was turned into... a terrible character. Well, in the beginning, he is intelligent and manipulative, who knows how to use his charm against others. Brilliant. Cool. I can work with that. He may have an arc about learning about his wrongdoing and using his privileges to help others who don't. But no, the character just went downhill and became everyone's joke.

Also, Ben, obviously. The movies wouldn't exist without him and he became an accessory to Mal. Disney can only write hero and damsel in distress, it seems. Because they do that to Ben. A tool to move the plot. My poor golden boy.

Favourite friendship: Jay and Lonnie. Give me two best friends who constantly joke around, kick each other's butt, compete in even the most ridiculous things, are affectionate with each other and even if they don't plan on it, they spend time together (I'm seeing you Jay and "I'm not going to invite no one to the ball but I'm going to dance with Lonnie all night ")

Character I want to adopt or be adopted by: I'm going to adopt Celia and no one will be able to stop me!

002: Bumarry,

When of if I started shipping it: Technically I answered this here. Also, from looking for Huma and Buma fics, I ended up finding my first Bumarry and... Oh, I got hooked on the idea.

My thoughts: They are my OTPoly (One True Polyship). I love them. Because they allow me to mix the variables and create new scenarios. After all the damage Ben has gone through, I inevitably want to give him the best and the best is Huma. What else can I say? It’s absolute logic.

What makes me happy about them: The devotion, affection, and strength they would have. Ben and Uma are very different leaders who complement each other very well and I could only trust Harry to take care of the two of them and give them the freedom they deserve. Ben is incredibly loving and that's something both Harry and Uma deserve to feel, Uma is incredibly protective and Ben needs that backing to rule and Harry needs that to stay alive every 5 seconds. Harry's loyalty is unprecedented, he would see to not only that everything is up to Ben and Uma's standards, but he would personally see that their dreams come true.

They make her mean, jealous, cruel, or things like that to Ben and Harry. And this I came across once: They make Harry gay and that his relationship/dynamic with Uma is pure appearance. I had no problem with Harry being gay, but the justification for his sexual tension with Uma was all... Fake? No, it didn't fit in well with me. I think that's why when you ask me to write Ben/Harry Hook, Uma is there to give support. Don't play dirty with my queen.

How I feel about this character: I love him! He has good intentions. Ben knows that he is in a position of power and struggles to take advantage of his privileges to change things. He is rebellious, the second he is going to take the throne he begins to dismantle the system. Ben has a good heart and wants to help other people. Besides, I love that he has his survival instinct broken.

kaz (kept this mostly spoiler free <3 i refer to scenes without the details) (me choosing kaz means i didnt choose inej which makes me only 95% predictable as opposed to 99%)

first impression: aha here’s our YA edgy white boy!! make way!! he seems cool. do i like mean repressed traumatized white boys yes sometimes i do. oh he’s stepping up to the gun and goading the guy to shoot him already PLEASE. greatly enjoying inej’s internal monologue about how much he’s annoying her. he’s SUCH an edg- this was my initial answer for first impression but the truth is i read soc when i was 13/14 so i most likely was not making fun of his dramatics the way i like to think i did. i definitely loved it. i still love it :)

impression now: my favorite edgy white boy of all time. he has a terrible haircut and everybody should make fun of him for it. but really this series and all its characters really does hold such a special spot in my heart. i don’t even know what to write here, i’m just sitting with the inside of my chest feeling very fond of this literal gang leader who is. u know. still a boy. i’ve realized recently that i am now the same age as the oldest crow (matthias).. when i read these books i was younger than all of them </3

idea for a story: hm... i don’t really interact with fanon when it comes to the grishaverse tbh, but - kaz takes a vacation, set several years after the duology. i just want kaz to first take a break and second see the world in a context other than “i will commit a crime but i will commit it in fjerda instead of kerch.” he should board a ship and feel the sting of the wind on his face for the sake of it and hold hands with inej. oh my god and ALSO he should VISIT SOME CERTAIN PEOPLE WHO HE MEETS AT THE END OF THE SERIES. he should hold hands with inej and visit them.

unpopular opinion: i’m not really sure? there are definitely kaz opinions that i disagree with, but a lot of people will disagree with those too so it’s less “unpopular” opinions and more “controversial” opinions. and i mainly look at edits/fanart. one popular-controversial opinion is that i lose brain cells whenever someone likens kaz with the darkling, whether it's to make kaz seem more "evil" or "bad" than he actually is (kaz is morally gray), or if it's to make the darkling seem morally gray (the darkling is. not morally gray)

favorite relationship: kaz/inej................................. number one otp of all time, i can and will be dramatic about them. i wont claim that i Understand It Better Than Everybody Else because i dont but nevertheless it’s MINE. i dont even read fic for them because i just don’t. favorite headcanon: leigh bardugo was like kaz is a 6 foot tall white boy and i said NO. i know i said the phrase edgy white boy like four times just now but listen. kaz is FIVE FOOT SEVEN and ASIAN. like 98% of kaz art/edits is white and those art are cool and lovely and amazing, however in my heart kaz is shu and whenever i see asian kaz art or edits i starting yelling in my head. shoutout to the person who left a tag on one of my posts that was something like “i like freddy [kaz’s actor] but whenever i see him im like that’s a white man” because i love freddy as kaz but me too

Overall thoughts; they really crammed all the North High drama into one ep huh. Personally would have liked it if all of this was spread out throughout the last few episodes; like different hijinks for every episode. I'm just a big fan of properly setting up the overall arc over the season instead of patching it together closer to the climax/end of the show. Cos now it lowkey feels like two different seasons - 2A felt like The Rini/Rina Show esp with YAC storyline and whatever was going on with Rina and now 2B is finally feeling like what this season should have been all this time

Bc I feel like people either love him and are like he is the nicest person in the universe or hate him and think he’s the worst & tbh while he does seem genuinely good he’s also clearly willing to do quite a lot to win (2007) & I really doubt the Nico thing was one sided either way so... opinions.

Hello, anon - I got two of these so gonna answer this one rather than both .Lewis, man. Where the hell do you start with Lewis? Unquestionably one of the most talented drivers we have seen or will ever see on track. Not just for raw speed or ingenuity but with the way he has been able to adapt and learn across a changing era of cars - something a lot of the other drivers aspiring to GOAT status (Alonso, in particular) just haven’t been able to do.

People think of Lewis as having unquestionably the best car. But that’s a recent development (and not always true even then) - the last few years he and Jenson were at McLaren, they were wildly outperforming the cars with a really strong driver pairing. (and the order was a little less rigid then, in all fairness)

I’m nearly the same age as Lewis so I remember him when he was a novelty - when what people said was that there was this guy in the junior categories who was fast - and this was always prefixed - he was black.

People said he was stroppy, had cheating engines (there is no evidence of this, especially when you consider the budget he was working with) and that he had a bad attitude, he was never going to get to Formula One so why put him in your team, a kid like that couldn’t be a champion… in other words the extremely racialised term “uppity.” Like, have absolutely zero illusions on this front, people were not supportive.

Some were, obviously and for every hand up like the McLaren backing, the detractors got louder. So when Lewis took the GP2 title and moved up to F1, he had to come in hot and obnoxious. Especially with Fernando as his teammate. Especially with spygate about to wipe out any shine left on the mangled heap they’d made of the championship trophy that year.

And oh, the disqualification (for anyone not up to speed: the whole McLaren entry was excluded that season for allegedly spying on Ferrari) just validated the detractors: you see, he isn’t that good. He was cheating.

Lewis has a temper. I don’t mean that in the sense he’s an angry guy, at all, just that there is a certain length you can push him and he will eventually snap, like all of us - he’s not a robot. And if you have to prove yourself again and again and again, in tests way beyond what anyone else is being scrutinised on, knowing that it is unfair and having no way to get past them but to once again, obnoxiously, excel then you will occasionally also make the odd sniping comment.

I’ve never heard him say anything stroppier than he once threw a bit of a shit fit because he thought Jenson unfollowed him on Twitter, though - whereas the howling conniptions when he succeeds in whatever the latest arbitrary challenge someone has decided he must pass to be considered successful? Those continue to the day.

Lewis, of course, is now pretty zen. He’s spent a long time working on himself and has been repairing his relationship with his father (who used to be his manager until they somewhat explosively parted ways) and with old rivals. He’s been growing as a person and a driver, he’s been caring less about what people think. The Lewis now is very different to the Lewis even a few years ago - clearly a lot of self-reflection and space has happened, after what was years of charging around and also some - bluntly - horrible psychological shit which the Merc team definitely have to take some responsibility for because it was their success formula to set him and Nico against each other to push each other forwards.

And for all the bitterness between him and Nico, they were never, like, really loathing each other. Just couldn’t work together. I find it really ghoulish how eager the press is to see Carlos and Lando go the same way, asking when will you fall out? all the time like it wasn’t obvious both Lewis and Nico were in pretty horrible states during it. (I saw some of the aftermath via one of them and like, that’s some trauma right there :/)

Has Lewis had his controversies? For sure. Some of them I have been upset by - like when he posted an instagram story telling his nephew he couldn’t wear a dress. Thing about Lewis is that, especially as he’s got older, he doesn’t double-down on things like that, he goes away and reflects - and designed a range of skirts and modelled them for an interview where he was called on it, then went to Disneyland and walked round with his nephew wearing that princess dress he’d mocked him for. [warning: Daily Mail link sorry, only site that had the pics]

Yes, ideally he would not have been a prang in the first place but it is also very good to publicly show growth. Especially in F1.

I loved old, obnoxious fuckboy Lewis. He was the middle finger F1 needed showing - and his resilience to the number of times the press and the talking heads and the social circles of F1 tried to push him back down, only to spring back up with a blindingly-polished trophy… ah, you love to see it.

Lewis means more to me than almost any other driver - and like, I vibe heavily with several - because he is that outlier example who shouldn’t have been counted but who keeps forcing them to score him into the ledgers of history, even now.

Is it good having a vocal advocate for women and for LGBT rights, who isn’t scared to call out motorsports prejudices and racism, so prominently in the sport? Yes. It’s a hard truth that he had to get this level of success in order to gain a platform because no when Lewis speaks people have to listen and report it. Because if his Instagram story can turn into a scandal, it can also be a communications platform. It’s why he holds a lot of sway with Liberty Media.

Now Lewis’ rights to be in the sport are unassailable. So he can start on other fights he couldn’t take at the time - there’s a reason the F1 press still gives Wehrlein (who is one of the sweetest drivers I have ever worked with) the “uppity” treatment and it’s fucking sad. It’s so embarrassing to work in this industry that’s a thousand miles behind even other embarrassing industries on this global fucking shame.

Look, I don’t give a fuck about the whole GOAT thing because sport is a continuous cycle (err, most years) and so ‘all time’ is a dumb thing to put in an accolade. But Lewis is, in my opinion, the best Formula One driver we have ever witnessed the career of. He is devastatingly good, has honed himself to a level where mistakes are such a rarity they’re a headline in and of themselves.

To maintain that, year after year after year? It’s not human. It’s a man who’s pushed himself beyond the pinnacle of the sport because he has proven everything and still someone will be typing out some snide little piece, at the same time I am writing this, that Hamilton will never be the greatest because [arbitrary mathematics about how you can’t count three of his titles so we don’t have to respect him yet. Not yet. It’s not that we don’t respect him because of who he is. It’s just one last test….]

Does Lewis being so good at Formula One driving it’s not really comprehensible below the level of fellow world champion make other drivers bad? No. He’s not walking to the titles. And maybe one day someone will be better than Lewis. Maybe he won’t be on form this year, somehow, for the first time in years of racing - if it ever starts again. Maybe he’ll retire to make tracksuits and rescue dolphins.

I am glad he seems happy now. He looks incredible. Man gets hotter and nicer with every year and you absolutely love to see it. His growth in himself and the sport has been equally impressive and his transformative power, both in terms of pushing forward the sporting side and in terms of using his platforms for good, is awesome.

(Lewis doesn’t have to speak out about stuff; I know people think it’s naff or crass or obnoxious or preachy but he could just not - and he knows people’d bash him for something else)

That said, I wish he’d put some money into sponsoring some grass roots motorsport but that is literally my only beef with him. But yeah, we stan a complicated, evolutionary boy.

Julie and the Phantoms

~What I want~

-Y’all didn’t ask for this but guess what here are my thoughts anyway. They are based in nothing and are solely what I want. So here’s everything (I hope) in no particular order.

1. Let’s talk about Juke just to get it ~out of the way. TBH I cannot get around the age gap between Madison and Charlie. It’s so hard for me to see past it. I’m only a few months younger than Charlie and I literally could not imagine dating someone who was even in high school at all. I understand they wanted the guys to look the same age through the series so they had to cast older but.... eh. The only way I could really accept Juke would be if they kissed in the series finale just before the guys moved on. But really? I’d love to see them realize that they can’t be together because he’s dead. It would be SO interesting to see that, them having to stomp out the crush because it could only end in hurt for them both. I’d love to see them become super close/best friends. They have a connection, it just doesn’t have to be romantic. Also I’d really like to see her maybe end up with Flynn??? That would be so refreshing. You almost never see queer leads for kids shows and that would be awesome (P.S. even though it’s fine to ship Juke, even though I personally don’t, do NOTTTTTTTTT. I repeat NOT! Ship Madison and Charlie. I’ve seen other actors in older fandoms stop talking to each other because of fans shipping them. Please don’t do this to anyone. Remember he’s 21, and she’s 16).

2. Ghosts. They need to stay ghosts. Trust me, I want them to come back to life as much as y’all, but I don’t think there are any ways that they can bring them back that doesn’t feel like a cheat. Plus, I really really want the heartfelt goodbye from the guys in the last episode before they move on. What can I say? I love my bittersweet endings. Could you imagine the material they could give us? They could even bring Julies mom in to help the boys cross over.

3. I NEED to see more of the guys in the 90’s. I have a ton of questions. Some of which are: was Bobby always kinda to the side? How long was Luke gone? I want to see Reggie and Alex’s life. Who’s house was the studio at? (We can cross out Luke and Reggie, we’ve seen their houses/where they were.) but I have my own theory that it was Alex’s house before Julie’s family solely based on the reason that that’s why the guys were in there and why Alex lingers. But then that poses the reason why did his parents leave the house? Maybe because it was too hard to live there when they lived there with their son? But then that poses the question if they “forgave” him for being gay?

4. Reggie, I know he wasn’t intended to be, especially since I heard the “that was pretty hot!” scene was improvised, but I need him to be bi so bad. I am not sure I’m right, but I only have seen three (?) canonically bisexual characters on screen in my twenty years of life. And that’s Cheryl from Riverdale (😒) and my personal fav, Eleanor from The Good Place, and we also have a sprinkle of Korra in there. I literally cannot think of another. But lookie here! They’re all women, where are my bi guys (if you know any male bi characters? Send them my way👀). But seriously, Reggie has such potential to be great Bi rep! If I had seen a character like him I might have realized and accepted my sexuality way before I did. Because ironically I had a sexuality crisis at seventeen because a guy friend grabbed me by the shoulder and asked for my help not too different from Luke singing to Reggie lol!

5. Hollywood Ghost Club. I would really love to see more about it. I’m pretty sure I know what’s going on, Caleb most likely made a deal with the devil. But I’d love to see the guys and Julie help free all of the other trapped spirits he’s lured into the club. Also, on the topic of ghosts as a whole, I wonder if there’s any negative effects on a ghost staying non earth too long. It happens a lot in movies/books. They almost turn into a wraith, a darker version, only a shadow of themselves. I wonder if it applies here too.

6. Oh dang, CASPER. As per my previous posts as I was writing this, I was backhanded with memories of one of my favorite childhood movies, which I just recently watched again. Above I say maybe Julies mom could help them cross over. But remember how Luke promises to talk to Julies mom once they cross over? What if they do just that. A line that struck a chord while watching the movie was from the mother’s scene when she comes back: “let’s just say you know three crazy ghosts that kept their word.” And y’all, when she said that line not gonna lie I nearly cried thinking about that for the show. She also mentions that because her family loved her so much, she doesn’t have any unfinished business. I wouldn’t be surprised if she doesn’t have any unfinished business either. Casper came out in.... you guessed it.... 1995. So I wouldn’t be surprised if they got some inspiration from it. Not to mention that it’s also a kids movie that has some pretty serious moments that kinda shocked me with how sad they were rewatching as an adult. I guess that’s why I loved it so much.

7. Carrie. I really want to learn more about Carrie and Julies dynamic. We know they were friends (I’m assuming with Flynn too?) and had a falling out. But why? And in the last episode she’s clearly proud of Julie after the performance, so I really want them to make up and have her be part of the group again. And maybe learn the truth about the guys?

8. Willie and Alex, god I want them to be together so bad. Of course, Caleb owns willies soul, so that’s not great, so I’d definitely love that subplot of the group trying to free the ghosts of the HGC. We didn’t see Willie too much this season, so I hope we do get more time with him. Also, I absolutely need a big musical number like Perfect Harmony between Alex and Willie. The only time I’ve ever seen a scene like that between gay characters has been in Rock of Ages (an adult musical) with “can’t fight this feeling” and it was hilarious and I need something like it for this show because it would be super cute 🥺.

9. Not particularly a theory but I’m really wondering how long Caleb is going to be in Nick. Julie has already stated that she’s kinda over him, and that it would be unfair to lead him on... so what happens when he realizes she probably won’t take the bait. Other than that, I really hope Sasha has fun playing Caleb through Nick, it has the potential to be great.

10. I’m not exactly sure what their unfinished business is going to be, but I’m almost certain it has to deal with Julie somehow. But the ending absolutely has to be the guys moving on. The ending has to be big though. They have to play somewhere awesome and then they find out... they’re done here. I’d honestly like a whole episode just dedicated to their goodbye. The way I see it, the second to last episode can end with them smiling after the performance and then that smile fading just a little bit, because that was when they realized. Then the final episode will be then telling Julie (and anyone else who knows about them by then) and finally moving on. Here I’m torn. I’ve mentioned both above but let me get more in depth. Version one: the one I originally came up with. This dealt with when the guys are ready to move on, Julies mom would come and help guide them into crossing over. I really liked this idea for a while, until I watched Casper again. Version two: the one I now like better(?) is the guys moving on, and after they do, Julies mom comes back (where even Ray and Carlos can see her) because “let’s just say you know three crazy ghosts who kept their word.” Could you IMAGINE??? It would absolutely reduce me to bawling I want it right now. The reason I like this one a little more is because we can skip to a little while after everything, and she gets a sign from them (just like her mom sending her the flower in the S1 finale) to show that they are still watching over her. And then we fade to black.

So that’s most of my thoughts on this show, if there’s typos in this I absolutely don’t care at all I wrote this instead of doing college work.

Cecilos #4?

Cecil doesn't date often. He doesn't remember the last time he went on a real date. He is hesitant to even download grindr but did so anyway.

He never expected to get a match, let alone a date. He almost didn't go but Earl had managed to talk him into it.

Now, Cecil stands in front of the long mirror in his bedroom. It's been so long that Cecil had no idea how to dress. He finally settled on a cream colored button up and a pair of slacks. He fiddles with the collar of the shirt, wondering if it wasn't too little. His thoughts were interrupted by a quiet chime of his phone. No time to back out now. Carlos is here. Maybe he could fake being sick?

Cecil chews his bottom lip as he answers the door. He can feel the excuse at the tip of his tongue but he was not ready for what greeted him.

Cecil is greeted by a delicate bouquet of yellow and purple flowers. "Oh." He says softly. He takes the flowers with a soft expression. He looks up and his breath stops. The man standing there is beautiful. He had gorgeous eyes and hair that looked soft enough that Cecil wanted to bury his fingers in it. Cecil stared at him for several minutes before Carlos broke the silence.

"You're Cecil right? Cause this would be really embarrassing if I showed up at the wrong house on the first date."

Cecil finds his voice and manages to stop staring. "First date? You seem so sure there will be another."

"I'm hoping so. You're pretty cute."

Cecil buries his face in the flowers to hide the growing blush. "I'll be right back. Put these in water." He squeaks. He hurries into the house, leaving Carlos on the doorstep. He puts the flowers in a simple vase on the table before returning to the door after grabbing his jacket and house keys. "I'm ready."

"Oh good. Shall we?"

Cecil nods and pulls the door shut, locking it. He then follows Carlos to his car. A small eco friendly hybrid. Cute. "I'm sorry for being so awkward. I don't date often."

"Really? A pretty face like yours?"

Cecil shifts a bit, uncomfortable. Just a pretty face. He had been told repeatedly. "My son is my first priority."

"You have a son?" Carlos asks, glancing at him. It wasn't accusing or negative. Instead he sounded curious.

"Yes. He's eleven." Cecil says, a bit defensively. "I'm sorry if that's an issue with you."

"No. No it's not an issue. I just… I teach the fifth grade." Carlos explains. "So I love kids. They're brighter than most people give them credit."

Cecil feels himself relax a little. "That's true."

"So what do you do?"

"I'm sorry?"

"For work I mean." Carlos pulls into the parking lot of Benson's, a small local diner.

"Oh!" Cecil laughs softly. "I run a bookstore."

"That's really cool. I love books." Carlos smiles.

"I'd hope so or you'd be a sucky teacher." Cecil climbs out and joins Carlos on the sidewalk.

"Is that so?"

"Well aren't books a big part of your job? I get a lot of teachers in the shop." Cecil follows Carlos into the diner.

"Are any of them as cute as I am?"

"Wouldn't you like to know?" Cecil snickers as he follows the hostess to their table.

"Maybe I would." Carlos retorts as he sits down and picks up a menu.

"Maybe you could find out if you bother to come in."

"Is that an invitation or a challenge?"

"Take it how you will." Cecil looks up at the waitress and orders a coke while Carlos orders a sweet tea. "But the offer stands." He peers over the top of the menu. He then closes it and folds his hands, knowing what he wanted already.

"I might just take you up on that."

"You'd better." Cecil folds the menu. "I wouldn't mind a little after hours book club." He gives a small smirk.

"I wouldn't mind showing you my comprehension techniques." Carlos retorts with a grin.

"I doubt you have something I haven't seen before." Cecil looks up as the waitress brings back their drinks.

"What can I get started for you?" She asks, giving Cecil a sweet smile.

"I'll have the house special. But with no pickles. Please."

"Alright." She picks up his menu. She then turns to Carlos and her entire body language changes. She bites her bottom lip and bats her eyelashes, pushing her chest out.

Cecil finds it ridiculous but he doesn't get out often so maybe this is normal.

"And for you sugar?"

Carlos glances at Cecil with an expression that says 'is this woman okay?'. "I'll have the same but keep the pickles."

"Anything for you honey. Together or separate?" She asks, looking up from her small notepad. She asks "separate" in a hopeful tone.

Carlos hums and gazes at Cecil for a moment before reaching over and taking his hand. "Together. It's our anniversary. We had our first date here."

Cecil sits in stunned silence with a lightly flushed face but the waitress seemed to get the hint and walked away.

Carlos finally lets go when the waitress is out of sight. "Sorry. I hate when that happens. I hope I didn't make you uncomfortable- uh….Cecil? You okay?"

Cecil blinks rapidly for a few seconds before pulling his hand back and putting it in his lap. "I'm sorry. Like I said, I don't date. The last date I went on was with my ex wife….six years ago."

"Ex wife?"

Cecil shifts and looks away. "I...don't really know you well enough to talk about that." He looks back. "Yet."

"Yet?" Carlos smiles.

"Yet." Cecil feels himself relax. "It wasn't a good marriage so it was hard to get back into the dating scene."

"Was I what you were expecting?" Carlos props his chin on his palm.

"Well….you're a bit shorter than I imagined." Cecil teases, biting his slightly chapped bottom lip.

"Hey!" Carlos kicked him lightly. "Not all of us can have legs like a Mantodea."

"A...excuse me? I really can't tell if you just insulted me or not."

Carlos chuckles, a deep warm sound. "A mantis."

"A mantis?"

"Mhm." Carlos brushes his leg against Cecil's knees, sending a visible shiver to the taller man. "So can I ask you something kind of personal?"

Cecil folds his hands on the table. "As long as it isn't about my ex wife, go ahead."

"That's a very broad category."

"I'm a fairly open person. And that wasn't a question."

Carlos laughs and nods. "You got me there. My question is…. Why me? Why'd you accept my date?"

"Would you believe you're the only one I matched with?"

Carlos snorts and shakes his head. "Not by a long shot."

"Fair enough. How about the only one I matched with that wasn't looking for a one night stand?"

"Now that I do believe."

"I'm not….opposed to sex but I've only ever had sex with women and never really enjoyed it."

"So why marry a woman- I get relationships shouldn't rely on sex but….why?"

"Where I come from, we're pushed from a young age to marry good and have kids. I absolutely love my son. He's the best thing in my life but I'm glad I can accept myself for who I am now."

"Did you love your wife?"

"I've already told you-"

"Right. Don't talk about your wife. Sorry." Carlos puts his hands up.

Cecil sighs softly and looks up as the waitress returns. She gives Cecil a sour look but gives Carlos a sweet smile.

"Call if you need anything sugar."

Cecil watches her go before, as a habit, takes the top bun off of his burger. "I got pickles." He sighs, picking them off.

"Well pickles are like virginity. If you don't want yours, I'll take it." Carlos grins.

Cecil freezes and flushes again. "C-carlos."

"Ah." Carlos squeaks. "Sorry."

Cecil offers him the pickles, covering his mouth to hide a giggle. "I'm afraid I can only offer you one at the moment as we are in public."

"Is that so?" Carlos smirks and accepts the pickles, keeping a hold of Cecil's hand for a moment, kissing the knuckles.

"I'm afraid you'll have to wait."

"I'm patient." Carlos brushes against Cecil's leg again.

The rest of dinner went smoothly. Cecil finds himself enjoying Carlos's company. Everytime the waitress came by to flirt with Carlos under the guise of checking on them, Carlos would reach under the table, grasping Cecil's knee and stroking it with his thumb.

At the end of the night, as Carlos expected, the waitress had written her number on the check so when they stand, Carlos pulls Cecil close and kisses his temple.

Now they were sitting in the driveway. Cecil bites his bottom lip. "Walk me to the door?"

"Of course." Carlos smiles and turns the car off before they get out.

Once on the porch, Cecil turns. "I had a really nice time tonight."

"There's only one thing left to do and tonight will have been perfect."

"Oh? And what's that?"

"A good night kiss." Carlos puts a hand on Cecil's face and leans forward, kissing him.

Cecil is hesitant at first but when Carlos starts to pull away, he puts his arms around the shorter man's neck. That seemed to tip the scale and Carlos pulled Cecil closer to him before pressing him back against the wall of the house. Cecil makes a soft noise and tangles his fingers in Carlos's hair. Cecil spreads his legs a little when Carlos presses his knee up between them.

Cecil is a bit lost in the moment that when the door opens, he nearly falls.

"Dad? Why are you ringing the doorbell so much? Did you forget your key-"

Cecil turns his head, and feels himself flush but at the same time go pale. "M-Michael!"

Michael wasn't looking at him though. "Mr. Mendez?"

Cecil feels Carlos step back.

"Michael?" Carlos asks, clearly as confused as Cecil.

"You know each other?" Cecil asks, fixing his clothes.

"He's my teacher!" Michael exclaims at the same time that Carlos says "I'm his teacher."

Bluebirds Without Wings Ch. 1

Summary: After an alarming incident, Julie's dad (the King), assigned her and Carlos each a knight to keep them safe for the first time in their lives. Carlos is fine with it, but Julie is not exactly thrilled with having a strange brooding boy follow her everywhere- especially when she's still trying to find her place in the kingdom after the death of her mom. It's not easy to figure out who you are and pick up pieces of who you were when someone is breathing down your neck, and she makes sure Luke and her dad (the King) know how how she feels. Her dad (the King), won't budge and lets Luke keep his post despite all of Julie's efforts to get him sent away.

Although this creates a definitive tension between them, there is no denying that some people are just signs sent from those who have left us.

It was another pink day in the castle. The banquet was happening all below, but Julie didn’t plan to go anywhere near it. She was standing out on her balcony, staring out at the kingdom and at the birds. She wished she could trade spots with a blue jay- even if it was just for one day. The weight of a blue jay’s wings is but a decimal of the weight of grief. A blue jay probably wouldn’t know that their mom is dead. A blue jay would assume she’s somewhere- out there- and they’ll meet up for migration that Winter like they always have. Denial must be bliss she always thought.

But Winter and Spring had all left as well as the snow and the constellations Julie used to see in the sky. She only sees an entire universe that could swallow her whole, and she only knows peace when she shuts her eyes and dreams of singing with her mom for the people in the town square. She hoped they didn’t think that she was gone, too.

She heard the door from inside her room open, but she didn’t bother looking to see who it was. She was more interested in seeing which direction a trio of crows would take.

“To the square or to the graveyard?” Flynn asked, looking out with her. Julie pointed at the crows she had been watching as they flew in circles around each other.

“I think they’re playing right now.”

“Crows.” Flynn scrunched up her face. One had dropped a little present for her on her head a few years ago at a public event, and she didn’t seem to be too fond of the idea that it was a symbol good luck. “Probably the graveyard. They’re going to take their little shovels and little graverobber pin buttons and start grave robbing.” Julie watched Flynn pretend to be interested in her bird watching activities, peering closely at the birds who made her run out of the square in shame when she was eleven. Julie had chased after her to comfort her. Flynn was doing a lot of that in these past few months.

Although Flynn would never turn her in, Julie still had to ask, “Are they looking for me?”

“Not yet,” she said. “Someone asked about you and your brother started talking about bugs or something to distract them.” Carlos seemed to take attention better after their mother’s death. Julie on the other hand, wasn’t a fan. It worked out for the two of them. It’s how they looked out for one another.

Julie saw the crows head off in the direction of the graveyard just like Flynn had predicted. She hoped they’d be able to find nourishment in something on her mom’s altar. “The king’s son wants to be an entomologist and his daughter is starting to resemble Icarus. I can’t imagine what the people are saying.”

Flynn put her hand over Julie’s. “Your people don’t care. They also miss her.” Julie knew exactly who Flynn was talking about. The people in the smaller villages of the kingdom that seldom used electricity and provided most of the crops for the kingdom. Too many times had building a school in those areas been denied and her and her mom could never figure out why. They would go there almost every weekend to build relationships until her mom became bedridden for two years and later died. Julie was almost sure those people got the news last.

Julie looked up at the white clouds adorning the velvet pink skies. Their contrast made the world seem perfect for a moment. She was pulled back from impossibility when a tear fell down to her collarbone. “I hope they remember her.”

“They always will.”

After a few moments of spacing out and thinking about her mom showing newborn baby Carlos the clouds, Julie realized the crows were completely out of view. She imagined them perched on a headstone, cawing in joy. “Let’s go in?” Julie asked Flynn.

Flynn gave a mock bow and a genuine smile, “You are the princess.” Julie couldn’t help but smile, appreciating the unmatched warmth Flynn brought into her life.

They sat in the middle of Julie’s king sized bed, Flynn looking for something interesting to watch on Netflix as Julie blanked out again. She always found it hard to stay present and although it had gotten better, she couldn’t help but vanish even when she still existed on the Earth.

A loud noise brought her back. Her and Flynn looked at each other with wide eyes, Flynn not screaming as she usually would. It confirmed to Julie what the noise was- a gunshot.

Julie quickly moved off the bed, pulling Flynn with her and walking her into her closet. It was like another small bedroom dedicated to her wardrobe that now held many of her mom’s pieces weaved between hers. Sometimes it was nice, sometimes it drove her insane. Flynn was starting to breathe heavily, stumbling on her walk, and Julie knew she couldn’t stop or she would also start to unravel. Once she did, nothing and nobody could get her to move.

She went into the edge of her closet where her ballroom dresses were hung up and pulled them apart. There was a tiny ribbon in the corner, and she pulled it, the wall easily coming open like a door. She pushed Flynn into the five by five room, not registering that she was in there shutting the door until it was complete darkness.

Julie began to process the noises all happening at once when they were completely locked in. The panic below. The yelling of knights. The alarm system was blaring loudly now, and it was lasering away any progress she had made towards recovery since her mom’s burial. She sunk to the floor, starting to cry. Flynn fell in place next to her, humming a soft song. Flynn wouldn’t cry if Julie was crying. It was an unspoken thing that only one of them could cry at the same time. It’s how they took care of each other. Even if for a moment Julie had finally been the one to run to save them from whatever was happening outside, Flynn was back to being her guardian.

Julie felt like they were in there for an hour, but it had only been twenty minutes when Flynn’s phone went off. Flynn checked her phone and whispered to Julie, “They’re looking for us. My mom said to tell you to text your dad where you are. Or Bobby. Everyone else is in the bomb shelter.”

“I don’t have my phone,” Julie whispered, wiping her face with the palms of her hand. The idea of calling Bobby first for support amused her for a quick second. “Do you have my dad’s number?”

Flynn nodded her head no. “Kind of weird to ask the King for his phone number, don’t you think?” Julie smiled and rolled her eyes, grabbing Flynn’s phone from her.

“Did she not ask how you were?” Julie looked at the texts quickly before going to the dial pad. She didn’t mean to, but it flew by.

“She knows I can fight.”

“That is true.” Julie dialed one of her dad’s phone numbers, already trying to recall the other one if he didn’t pick up. It didn’t even fully ring before he picked up.

“Julie?” her dad whispered. There were people talking around him, most likely half a dozen knights sworn in to protect him. She hoped he trusted all of them because he really had to for once in his life. The Inmarcesible Kingdom was a quiet and peaceful place, usually staying out of neighboring conflicts and staying neutral when possible. Someone seemed to be after them.

“I’m safe with Flynn,” Julie said. She was always trained not to say her whereabouts in an emergency unless told to, just in case the enemy was listening. Flynn’s mom, for example, could’ve easily gotten them all killed if there was a part two to whatever was going on. “Are you and Carlos safe?”

“Yes,” he assured her. “I love you very much. Don’t move until you hear it from me myself okay?” Julie could hear how hard he was straining to not cry. Julie bit her lip, fighting back her own crying to be able to talk.

“I love you, too.” He hung up without another word, probably because he wouldn’t be able to say anything more. Julie handed Flynn’s phone to her and took a few deep breaths like she was taught in therapy.

In the echoing distance, she could’ve sworn she heard another gunshot.

A/N: I had this very vivid dream of a Princess Julie running off to go somewhere to talk to village people and Knight Luke running behind her like "you are not supposed to leave without me" and they fight, and I couldn't shake it off so here I am. I blame Breath of the Wild and Age of Calamity so yes, look for parallels later on. As of now, all of my chapters will be short (700-1.5k range), so I can update more often. I'm honestly excited for this AU.

This fic will have a lot of mentions of Ray and Carlos because I still want the grieving with family parts in this fic because I think they're a huge part of JatP, and I don't want to take that away. Flynn will also be here often because I really think she's Julie's rock. The boys will come in the following chapters very soon, and I will most likely use songs from the show because I'm a song fic person, and I will not let anyone take that away from me.
