What if one choice could change the world? What if when you looked into the mirror of time, you could not recognize the face on the other side? She could have been the hero. She could have saved the world.

In one reflection, she would burn as brightly as the flames she wielded, a Guardian, a protector of any who needed her shield and blazing, furious power. Where darkness stirred, she would bring the light. And so she would be chosen by the winding paths of fate, and become so much more than a Champion of the Pale Tree; one day, she would fight alongside Aurene. The light they shared would bring hope to Tyria when all seemed lost. Not even the deepest, darkest nightmare could stand before the shine that comes from within.

Yet, in the other, pain and loss would turn her flames caustic and sharp, fueled by a raw power that not even the finest technology could contain. This would be the Saoirse who knows only how to run-- to charge forward into calamity, and leap from the ashes her choices leave behind. The blades that should bring hope would instead herald a darkness so much greater and more terrible than her. She, too, would be chosen by an Elder Dragon-- for better and for worse. A shining beacon, stifled into the deepest shadow.

“I assume the telephone was malfunctioning.” He earned a tiny glare for his dry wit.

(reverse dc au) Mike sees Evan as a teenage version of himself and is trying to get his 'past self' to realize how much of a dirtbag he(Michael) is lmao

oh my god, i literally gasped and my hand flew up to cover my mouth like some cringe hallmark movie actress

that's... oh my god. Michael mistaking Evan's kindness toward him for his past self "pretending" to be kind in order to trick him, or maybe Michael thinks his "teenage self" actually believes he's capable of anything other than cruelty and destruction and decides to teach his "teenage self" the hard way that NO, he isn't, and all he will ever be worthy of is punishment and pain.

Maybe Michael hears his "teenage self" claiming to be Evan and is so friggin mad that his "teenage self" would DARE corrupt sweet little Evan's memory with such a blatant lie.

I wonder if there's anything that would ever make Mike realize the truth. Maybe he realizes as Evan is dying; maybe Evan had some surgery or other, and Mike sees the remnants of the surgery while he's ripping Evan apart (similar to Mike's death scene in the og dire consequences au), and he tries comforting Evan in his final moments but Evan's too scared of him for the comfort to work.

Or maybe Mike never finds out the truth, and if Evan's ghost doesn't move on, Evan is stuck trying to hide from Mike for all eternity for fear of what Mike will do if he gets his hands on him.

I can easily imagine Evan being forced to see just how much Mike hates himself, and the lengths Mike is willing to go to torture himself (or his past self), as another form of torture, too. Evan still loves his big brother after everything, and seeing how much Mike hates himself hurts. both emotionally and physically, since Mike is taking that hatred out on Evan. Maybe, if Evan's ghost stays, he risks revealing himself to Michael because he wants to prove to Mike that he doesn't have to hate himself. Whether or not revealing himself is a mistake depends on how angsty I'm feeling, tbh

also this is strange because the youngest and the oldest are full blooded siblings

so what is the time line was the dad with to people at once or was he with someone and after lizzie was born they broke up and he had two children with another person before going back to his original partner and having one more kid before she died

also how did Jimmy and Lizzie mom die and is the dad aNd grian and pearls mom alive

Uh long story short their parents aren't great people. Dad cheating on his wife with Lizzie and Jimmy's single mom. The specifics of the relationship are a bit underdeveloped tbh but yeah.

And yeah Grian and Pearls mom is alive! She is mega pissed about her husbands cheating (obvs) but refuses even considering divorce and ends up taking in Lizzie and Jimmy after their mom dies and the cheating comes out. Again, still nailing out details of the parents relationships and stuff but yeah. Dad's also alive. Neither are really good parents and Lizzie ends up partially raising her siblings because of the dynamics in the household.

Lizzie and Jimmy's mum died from unspecified reasons idk if I'll elaborate on outside of being complications with having Jimmy.

but a little more info about it for you! so leo, raph, don and mike are all brothers that lived with their mom... who. has trouble looking after them. just very neglectful. at first i was gonna link their mother to an actual tmnt character but i didn't wanna do tang shen dirty like that so she's just oc really. she's not in it much because after bouncing around foster homes and group homes, the brothers kinda just, strike out on their own, laying low until leo turns 18 so he can properly take care of them :)

casey is raph's slightly older friend. in this au i imagine they met whilst in a group home, getting into trouble together, casey ends up going back into his dad's care (boo) and so after the boys have 'run away' casey offers them a place to stay.

april is in here too! her mom is a foster parent, and at one point, very briefly, she was caring for donnie. in the au, whilst for the most part they've managed to stick together, unfortunately like most cases with kids in foster care, there's been instances where the boys have been split apart (and in this fic itself, where they find themselves separated again...) but we love april and april's mom <3 she doesn't know they're homeless of course otherwise she'd take them in in a heartbeat

murikami is in this fic because i feel like we don't see him often enough in tmnt lol. maybe leo gets a job at his shop or something im not too sure yet but i wanna link murikami to splinter in this fic. which, by the way, splinter isn't their dad in this. again, like i said before, the boys don't have any 'character' parents. they're just some people. we don't need to worry about them lol

but that being said, the boys are blasian in this. i mean, that's pretty much canon at this point anyway but yeah. i have some art i did a while back that i kinda based this whole au off but it's unfinished (like most of my projects lmao) so yeah!

i can't decide whether to make leatherhead a social worker or another foster parent the boys come across. either way i want him and mikey to have a good relationship. same with slash. maybe a welfare officer or something? the whole gangs here lol

BUT YEAH honestly talking more about this au makes me more excited to write it and gives me more inspo for it, so your enthusiasm is super duper appreciated!! thank you!! *throws gummy worms at you nicely* THANKS !!
