okay i know this is a silly goofy haha and I could just respond to this "so true thank you rick" but i haven't talked about this in awhile and i feel like it again since this is apparently an under-recognized topic -

Nico is, in the books, autistic-coded! This is not a headcanon thing I personally have, there is textual and contextual evidence that he is purposefully autistic-coded.

The main point for this is that the first series featured a very overt theme about awareness for learning disabilities, particularly in the first three books. Obviously The Lightning Thief focuses primarily on characters with ADHD/dyslexia - Percy and Annabeth (since we don't actually know if Grover has adhd/dyslexia or not). But in Sea of Monsters the scope begins expanding and we have Tyson as a major character, who is very clearly coded as having down syndrome.

Then in Titan's Curse we have Nico, who upon introduction is very stereotypically autistic - He's immediately introduced as having a clear hyperfixation, missing social cues or otherwise behaving socially inappropriately/having difficulty with empathy and emotions, getting easily emotional particularly due to change, relying heavily on familiar things/people for stability, etc etc. And this is clearly described as being different to standard demigod ADHD. Especially given TTC was written in the mid-2000s, this is basically neon arrows pointing at Nico saying "look! This kid's autistic!" except not explicitly saying that, just like nobody explicitly ever said Tyson has down syndrome (or Percy having PTSD from Gabe, or Reyna being ace, or etc etc etc) - because that's what coding is. It's implying it without explicitly stating it. That doesn't mean it's not canon, it's just you have to actually read between the lines of the text to go "ah, okay, this is what this character has going on."

And this isn't just a thing that goes away with Nico's character - it's a basis for Nico's characterization for the rest of the series and into the next two series as well. He continues to explicitly have difficulty with emotions and social cues. He continues to reference having hyperfixations (mythomagic, pirates). Heck, we even get more notes about him having both sensory aversions (touch, potentially implied also bright colors/lights, etc) and being sensory-seeking (wearing oversized layers often, seeking out clothing with specific patterns [skeletons/skulls], etc), and stimming (twisting skull ring) later on.

So yeah, Rick Riordan, I am right, Nico is autistic. Because you wrote it in your books, very clearly. You just didn't explicitly say "autistic." And you didn't have to, because the point is for people to figure it out on their own.

Making Writblr More Accessible

Hello, all! I'm Nico, your local disabled writer. Specifically, I am (loudly) autistic, as well as coming to terms with the chronic pain that's been following me for a few months. I am also an advocate for accessibility in writblr, because it is unfortunately lacking.

I am not the leader of knowing what accessibility looks like, of course--for instance, while I do wear glasses, my vision is not nearly as affected as anyone considered legally blind and I do not know everything there is to know about being accessible for that. I don't know what it's like to be disabled in ways I'm not, but I do know a lot about accessibility due to spending time in disabled communities, and I want to share that knowledge.

I'll split this into images & GIFs, fonts, blogs, community, and "in conclusion". I'll mostly just talk about blatant inaccessibility, but the community section will discuss community attitudes and behaviours as well.

(The rest of the post will be under a keep reading, for length reasons.)

Images & GIFs.

An undescribed image or GIF is an inaccessible image or GIF. There are blind and visually impaired tumblr users who rely on screen readers, but screen readers cannot read images.

There are two ways to do IDs; adding them in the alt text, and adding them in the body of the post. I did both with this image.

An image description should be as short and useful as possible, so the person who needs it gets a good idea of what is in the image but is not overloaded with pointless information. (E.g., I did not describe Grumpy Cat's exact ear shape.) You also should not use tumblr's small text for your ID; more on that in "fonts".

Some images are more complicated than others, and will require a longer ID. You still want to follow the same general rules, though. Keep it simple, but make sure you put in all the important info.

This is an example of a slightly more complicated image.

You want to describe memes, screenshotted tags, picrews, WIP intro powerpoints, GIFs... basically anything that is not normal text. Additionally, you should tag for GIFs ("#gif tw" and "#gif warning") as the sudden flashing and/or movement can risk triggering epileptic seizures.

Fonts.

This overlaps with both the "images & GIFs" section and "blogs" section, so I figured I might as well make it it's own thing.

Some fonts are more accessible than others, both in regards to size and design. This link right here leads to an article about what makes a font more readable, as well as a list of accessible fonts.

Generally, you want a larger font for your blog's desktop layout, as they're easier to read. You also want to use tumblr's regular font when posting; this small text is very difficult to read for many people with vision issues. [Translation: "this small text is very difficult to read for many people with vision issues." /end translation.] Personally, as someone with glasses partly for headaches, attempting to read small text always sets one off. (That's why you shouldn't use it for IDs, either.)

Some dyslexia-friendly and readable fonts include: Arial, Comic Sans, Dyslexie, Helvetica, and Century Gothic, though there are many others. When in doubt of a font's accessibility, look it up!

Blogs

I've had personal inaccessibility difficulties with both previous elements, but this one is really the one that frequently bites me. When designing their desktop blog appearances, people often just consider what looks cool to them, as opposed to what's accessible.

Blog accessibility is important in writblr in particular because when you put any writing or intros under a keep reading, it will redirect to your blog directly. This means your blog layout should be accessible for people with sensory issues, dyslexia, and low vision.

I customized blog's layout to accommodate my own autism-born sensory hypersensitivity and mild visual impairment (needing glasses). The colours are contrasting, which is important for readability, but not overly saturated, which is important for sensory issues. The font is at the normal size with no embellishments.

@wherearetheplants is a good example of a well-contrasting but not cluttered or oversaturated blog theme!! (& check him out, he's cool.)

These are two examples of what an inaccessible blog theme may look like; I know I personally would not be able to read anything on either of them for longer than maybe two minutes.

Community

If you want disabled people to feel welcome here, not only should you strive for basic accessibility, but you should also actually think about your internal biases and assumptions and whether you're actually considering disabled people in your day-to-day interaction with the writblr community.

Are you giving disabled & mentally ill traits (psychosis, low empathy, canes, scars, DID, etc) to exclusively villain characters? Are you using words like "narcissist", "psychopath", and "psychotic" as an insult? Are you equating being disabled with being pitiable, inspiring, tragic, or dangerous in how you talk about and portray us? Are you uplifting disabled voices? Are you calling out ableism when you see it, and backing up disabled people who do so? Are you thinking about and deconstructing your personal biases against disabled people?

Asking yourself those questions is important. Examining your behaviour is important. For writblr to be truly accessible, the abled people involved must be willing to take the time to actually alter ableist and saneist behaviours.

In Conclusion

Two final notes:

One. I love writblr. This long-as-hell post is a labor of love, because even though this community has issues, I genuinely love it. I would not be making this post if I thought it was pointless. I think a lot of people aren't being malicious, they just genuinely don't know about these things.

Two. I'm not perfect, and I don't expect anyone to be. We all fuck up, including disabled people ourselves. That doesn't make you a bad person or a bad ally--what matters is that you try, and that when you do make a mistake, you own up to it and try to fix it the best you can.

Tristan Caine Autistic headcanons

He is ALWAYS masking and trying his best to fit in and it's part of the reason he seems so grumpy

A rollercoaster of emotions! Yes, Callum says his doubt is constant and without the jerks and spins that others have. However, Callum also said that he feels and cares more than anyone else. *points at Tristan* He is going through emotions you wouldn't even understand and they just seem calm BECAUSE HIS DOUBT OVERPOWERS EVERYTHING

He canonically has sensory issues with tags on clothing especially when he's anxious

@hondagirll Tagged me to share my top 9 books, which I don't think is a physical possibility for me to do. I love books and choosing my top 9 would be a crime. There are single series that I could choose 9 books from, so instead I am going to do the top 9 that I have read this year. It'll probably be mostly YA books - I don't tend to read too many adult books bc there's too much smut for my little asexual eyes.

Make sure you check TWs before reading any of these. Some of them dealt with some pretty heavy topics.

So out of the 63 books I have read so far this year, my favs are:

They Hate Each Other by Amanda Woody - This is a mm enemies-to-lovers fake dating contemporary book. The characters (or specifically, one of the characters) was a little over the top sometimes, but I adored them. They were both dealing with so much shit and there were some really mature topics that were offset by the humor. First sentence: "Jonah Collins is dancing on my table, and I think... yes. I think I'm about to lose my shit."

The Sunbearer Trials by Aiden Thomas: This is pitched as Percy Jackson meets The Hunger Games, and is the first book in a duology. This book is so diverse and so queer, and I need Aiden to release the second book as soon as humanly possible. I love all of the characters, even the ones who are little shits, and I can't wait to see how the series concludes. First sentence: "First, there was only Sol among a sea of stars."

The Luis Ortega Survival Club by Sonora Reyes: This was a tough choice because I read both of Sonora's books this year. I loved their first book so much that I immediately picked this one up. But I sobbed so many times reading this book, it was a little ridiculous. I think it might have been my first time reading a book with an autistic main character, which I obviously need to work on correcting. First sentence: "The driver looks at me like he knows exactly what I just did."

Sparks Fly by Birdie Lynn: If you wanted to psychoanalyze me, this is another queer enemies-to-lovers, fake dating book. But this time it takes place at a magic school and also includes soulmates trope. Do I need to say more? First sentence: "Hit me with your best shot, Pham."

Imogen, Obviously by Becky Albertalli: I just know that Becky had a vendetta with this book, and I am absolutely thriving at the way she took the horrible way that she was treated online and channeled that into this book. This book examines the way that some people think there is a "correct" way to be queer, and absolutely challenges that. Let me catch Gretchen in a dark alley, I swear. First sentence: "I haven't quite unclicked my seat belt, but I'm getting there. Obviously."

The Sun and The Star by: Rick Riordan and Mark Oshiro: What is a favorites list without something from the Riordanverse? I am so happy that we got a Nico-centric book, since he is one of my favorite characters. I also loved getting more information about Will Solace. I'm glad that Rick brought in a queer author to help make this book a reality and I really think their writing styles blended well together. First sentence: "Nico faced the worst decision of his life, and he was certain he was going to mess it up."

Parable of the Sower by Octavia E. Butler: This book was a lot. It was dark and gruesome and I spent the whole time completely horrified. It was also very real and unfortunately stands up too well to the test of time. I listened to this on audiobook and do I ever have some visceral memories of what I was doing when certain events in this book happened. I absolutely want to continue with the series, but that's something you have to be in the right frame of mind for. First sentence: "I had my recurring dream last night. I guess I should have expected it."

The Invisible Spy by Lisa McMann: This is the second book in The Forgotten Five series. I'll admit that I started this series because the author is the mother of the actress who plays Nancy Drew, but I genuinely enjoy these books. They're really solid middlegrade books and I enjoy the characters. Think Descendants meets superheroes. I like watching these kids come to terms with the fact that their parents maybe weren't the best people, and seeing how they deal with the moral quandary of having villains for parents. First sentence: "President Daniel Fuerte sat at his cluttered desk in the presidential office on the top floor of Magdalia Palace."

Skye Falling by Mia McKenzie: This book proves that picking something you've never heard of up on a whim can be a good thing. I desperately wanted an audiobook and I chose this off of my library's small list of queer books that were available at that moment. I had never heard of it before, but I adored this book. It tells the story of what happens when an almost 40 year old woman, who avoids conflict and personal relationships is faced with the very real product of selling her eggs at age 26. First sentence: "I'm lying very still on top of a hotel bed's rumpled sheets."

Quarantine Q & A

Are you staying home from work/school?

As y’all may have noticed from my bitching about it, my job refuses to close and also refuses to allow most of us to WFH except under very specific circumstances, so no, I still have to go to work and I’m very mad about it. I did stay home for a week last week because I thought I might be sick, which I may have been a little but not with The Thing, and now I’m behind at work and mad at myself about it.

If you’re staying home, who’s there with you?

My wife’s job let her stay home, so that’s at least good.

Are you a homebody?

I would be DELIGHTED to stay home!!!! I love my wife and I don’t like going outside and the ability to get out of 99% of social obligations lately has been thrilling.

What movies have you watched recently? What shows are you watching?

movies: We have been ping-ponging between movies we’ve seen a bunch or recently bought (Big Hero 6, Charlie’s Angels 2019, Portrait of a Lady on Fire, Enchanted, The Princess Diaries 1 and 2, Belle), and batshit Lifetime movies because we found the app for it months ago and have been mildly obsessed ever since. Honest recommendations if you like ridiculous Lifetime movies: Secrets in the Walls, Hush Little Baby, Bad Sister, Cheerleader Nightmare, Home is Where the Killer is (this one is on Netflix but it was a fucking delight), Prescription for Danger

shows: We finished a Community rewatch of seasons 1-3 and then started on Parks again (currently on s5). We’ve also been doing an Agents of SHIELD rewatch in the evenings because season 7 is coming out. After that I think we’re finally going to start True Blood, which is B’s heart-show. And last week I was too angry about being at work to listen to audiobooks and also Mackenzie Davis is hot so I watched all of Halt and Catch Fire, which has made me lose my mind a little bit if you had not noticed. It’s a very good show allegedly about technology and computer/software development from the early 80s-early 90s but actually it is about the world’s messiest polycule. (not rly but.......they all act like exes ok) I also made a deal with a work friend that he would try Community if I tried Chernobyl. I’m not sure how that’s going to go but I am a woman of my word. OH and Little Fires Everywhere!!! That’s coming out on Wednesdays and I’m enjoying it a lot, though I think I like the book better.

An event that you were looking forward to that got cancelled?

I’m a little bummed about Emerald City ComiCon, but actually I wasn’t done with any of my costumes (Calamity Jane from Deadwood and also I’m making Nico’s bedazzled sword from Runaways s3) so that’s fine. I’ve been very distracted which is not a good mindset for me to try to do audiobooks in, but I did listen to THE PRINCESS AND THE FANGIRL by Ashley Poston a couple weeks ago which was very cute.

Does the aforementioned binging of Halt and Catch Fire because I need to focus on other people’s problems count? oh and I decided I’m gonna do a thread of autistic characters/headcanons on Twitter so that’s a cool project I have to do now. and I’m still writing Dark Fate fanfic lmao.

Thoughts on Grey’s Anatomy: 15X22

I thought I would hate this episode, but it wasn’t as bad as I thought. Which should really be the new tag line for this season. Meredith and DeLuca are getting it on. It’s boring to watch. Also why is Meredith wearing a crop top to bed? Who does that? What was the wardrobe dept. thinking? Have they never slept before? She kicks him out so as not to disturb the kids. While I don’t like them together and I wish she would date someone else she does appear to be having fun and feeling joy again which is great.

Annnd he runs into Zola! This idiot can’t even sneak out of a house properly. The shade! Her face! She’s not having it! Zola’s face speaks for the majority of the fandom here. Can someone tell the writers? He comes back to Meredith’s room and tells her what happened. Apparently, Zola said nothing and went back to bed. Meredith tells him, “My kids know you as the sad guy from the couch.” Which is partly we hate him. He’s a loser! DeLuca says that was an embarrassing chapter in his life and apologizes again for it.

Meredith says she had a plan for telling her kids she was dating him. They were going to have ice cream and talk about their feelings and now that’s blown. I love what a great mom she is. DeLuca’s smiling like an idiot because she was planning on telling her kids about them. Mer rolls her eyes as do we all. Way to miss the point dude. Mer checks to make sure the coast is clear this time and then has him leave.

We cut to Owen. He’s holding a crying Leo and talking to Megan on the phone. She booked him a therapy appointment and is making sure he goes. Now we’re at the hospital. Oooh! I love Mer’s outfit! The blue jacket is fire! They’ve upgraded her wardrobe this season and I like it. Bailey’s on the phone. Her ex Tucker heard her son Tuck call Ben Dad and now he’s throwing a fit and making it her problem.

Tuck feels bad and Ben’s oblivious. Which is all pretty rich for someone who gave her an ultimatum after over a decade of marriage and cheated on her. What a bitch baby. Bailey is SO much better off without that jackass! Bailey says she’d rather talk about Mer’s problems, so they do that instead. She tells her about Zola seeing DeLuca but before Bailey can respond Alex walks up to them. Jo’s back.

Amelia, Link, and Tom work on the patient that became a quadriplegic and try to use an experimental treatment to give her back the use of her arms. Nico and Schmitt are talking. Nico’s fellowship is almost up and he’s applying to hospitals across the country which upsets Schmitt. It’s reminiscent of when Jo was applying to hospitals across the country.

Qadri treats a patient who thinks she has a bowel obstruction. I think it’s weird that they show her in the beginning misdiagnosing the patient and then she disappears after that. Per protocol she should have followed the patient’s treatment all the way through. Instead she disappears. DeLuca takes over part of it and then Richard takes over another part. Then a woman walks in with high heel shoes impales in her chest! Now we know what the title was referring too! She needs heart surgery to repair the damage. Richard recognizes her. Her name is Gemma and she’s an alcoholic too. He knows her from AA. Ollie was her sponsor too. It’s not a happy reunion.

Nico and Schmitt work on a young patient who needs cement injected into his spine to correct an issue that’s causing him pain. Bailey recognizes the boy’s grandfather. He’s a reoccurring bowel patient of Bailey’s. They’re very close. Meanwhile Alex is still treating Gus the autistic patient who needs rare blood to get better. He’s built a LEGO arc de triomphe! Alex goes and talks to Mer. Time is running out for Gus. Mer’s called Cristina and Marie Cerone trying to find some of the rare blood they need. No dice. I love the Cristina reference here! Mer asks how Jo’s doing. Alex says it’s happening again. They’re happy for a while then they break then they leave him. Mer says it’s not happening again. Poor Alex!

Mer gives Alex advice and says this isn’t like the other times. That they’re not broken, and they’ll be fine. Jo will talk when she’s ready. I love their friendship! Jo’s depressed and sitting in the lab not working. Jackson comes to see her and recruits her for his research. Owen goes to see the therapist Megan found for him. He’s sceptical and dismissive and a terrible patient, but he agrees to try. Qadri’s patient is in the CT machine and is in a lot of pain. DeLuca’s running the scan. He pages Mer for a consult.

He asks how Zola was this morning. Mer says she was surprisingly normal. DeLuca wonders out loud why they feel so guilty when they’re not doing anything wrong. That’s not exactly true. Meredith is an Attending. DeLuca is a resident. She’s already been down this road. It doesn’t usually end well and they really shouldn’t be dating. She asks him if he even likes kids because they haven’t really talked about it and she’s got 3 of them. DeLuca says he has 16 first cousins and tells stories about them. He says he likes kids and tells her jokingly that her kids might like him more than her. Mer thinks that’s a load of crap.

While that’s nice and everything it doesn’t change the fact that DeLuca’s a danger to children. He lost a kid who escaped, fell down a manhole, and almost died. He attempted to assault a child and should have been fired for it. I hate how they keep ret conning his character EVERY SINGLE EPISODE this season! There is no consistency and he’s really on my nerves.

The scans are up. Their patient’s pregnant and in labour. Meanwhile Richard tries to talk to Gemma whose having none of it. Back at the CT machine. OB is busy so Mer’s running this one. Bailey looks at the scans and realizes the patient has two wombs! But she’s only pregnant in one which explains the weird symptoms. Jackson tries to reach out to Jo. He doesn’t get very far. Eventually he figures out she’s drunk at work and has vodka in her water bottle. He tells if she ever does that again she won’t be met with compassion.

Amelia and Tom talk at the lab. He laughs at her for missing Link and calls him ‘ortho barbie’. Awwww he talks about how much he loves Teddy and gives her advice about Link. Bailey comes to see her friend and his grandson to see how the procedure went. Everything seems good until he tries to go to the bathroom. He’s halfway across the room when he collapses. Richard and Maggie have a heart to heart in the scrub room about Gemma. We learn that Richard paid the bar he smashed up a lot of money to settle the charge so he wouldn’t go to jail or lose his medical licence.

Bailey and Meredith have a heart to heart about their dilemmas. Bailey is way over Tucker’s nonsense. Aren’t we all? Mer asked how she told Tuck that she was dating Ben. She said on some level he already knew. That all you have to do is show up, make it clear what’s happening, and answer their questions because all they want to know is that you’re there for them and you’re not going anywhere no matter what. Sage advice. Owen’s at therapy. He’s trying the touch therapy with his therapist. We find out that Owen doesn’t trust joy because of what happened when his Dad died when he was a kid.

It’s a painful but necessary process to let go of the fear. I’m glad they’re finally addressing this part of Owen’s story. They’ve touched on it but never explored it. After a lifetime of abusing women this man needs help. Full stop. Amelia tells Tom about what really happened in Germany between Owen and Teddy. Amelia tries to help and tells Tom that Owen and Teddy are inevitable. I get where she’s coming from, but I disagree. I get that she’s trying to help, but nothing is inevitable. Owen has a lot of work to do to be whole and he’s a long way off. Teddy deserves someone who loves her, puts her first, and treats her well. Tom does that. Owen never has. Tom isn’t scared of inevitable! I love him!

Meanwhile Maggie is trying to save Nico’s patient. He screwed up somehow and now the patient’s pulmonary artery is destroyed. Richard comes and talks to Gemma. He makes her laugh and they talk it out. He tells her about the bar incident. Bailey’s on the phone with Tuck trying to smooth things over. She tells him she knows he didn’t mean to upset anyone, but it hurt his father’s feelings, so he’ll have to go back to calling Ben by his first name instead of Dad.

I’m not sure I agree. Neither Tuck nor Ben has done anything wrong. Ben is involved in Tuck’s life in a way Tucker isn’t and Tucker’s failings are the main reason him and Bailey are divorced. Who cares what he wants? That’s what you get. Bailey has to end the call because she sees her friend in the waiting room and is confused. He tells her something went really wrong with his grandson and she goes to find out what’s going on.

She enters the OR to find out he’s died. His heart gave out as a result of the complications from the ortho procedure. Bailey wants answers from Nico. He tells her the cement leaked causing a blood clot and he went into cardiac arrest. Bailey calls him on his crap. He screwed up and made a mistake and now a healthy 21-year-old man is dead. He was about to go to business school. Now he’ll never get the chance. Maggie leaves and Bailey tells Schmitt to close. She tells Nico he’s going to stand next to her while she tells the patient’s grandfather and that if he’s a good surgeon he’ll remember it and never make this mistake again.

‏Back at the lab Jackson tells Jo it was Meredith that asked him to look in on her. There’s a nice cover of Say Something here! Bailey gives her friend the terrible news. It’s gut wrenching to watch. I can’t imagine this man’s pain. Link invites Amelia to dinner. She accepts but stays back a minute to talk to Tom. Amelia speaks some real truth here. However, I still don’t agree with her advice to Tom. I hope he continues to fight for Teddy.

Schmitt comes to talk to Nico whose prepping for his Skype interview. He encourages him to postpone his interview because of what just happened. I agree with him. He suggests he re-schedule and they knock off for the night. In response Nico yells at him and says he doesn’t get it because he’s let failure rule his entire life and that it’s basically his identity. All of which is really unfair and uncalled for. Yes, that was true at one time, but it hasn’t been in a while. Schmitt’s made real progress. Also, he’s right here. Nico is in no condition to be interviewing.

He just killed a man through his own incompetence. Also, you don’t yell something like that at the person you’re dating especially when they’re right. Nico’s outburst proves that. Poor Schmitt. He deserves better. Nico goes ahead with the interview. Schmitt slams the door and walks out. Maggie and Jackson talk. He asks her to move in with him. Owen’s at home napping while Leo plays. His phone dings. It’s Teddy asking if he’s okay. He says yes and asks why. She says Megan texted her and said to check on dum dum because he had a hard day. I love Megan!

Owen texts back and says it was hard but good. He picks up Leo and plays with him. Alex arrives home. Jo’s still not talking to him. He calls her out for drinking at work. He says he’s done and he needs her to talk to him and that he loves her but he can’t do this. She says if he loves her he’ll leave her alone. He says he’s done playing that game. Alex starts yelling and says he should just go to Pittsburgh and find out what the hell happened to Jo. Jo says she’ll talk to him when she’s ready. She says if he ever threatens to go to Pittsburgh again she’ll leave him. He says if she ever comes to work drunk again he’ll tell Bailey. Jo says they have a deal.

Mer’s at home in her Dartmouth lounge wear. She brings the kids ice cream. She tells them that her and DeLuca have been spending more time together. Zola asks if he’s her boyfriend. She always knows what’s up! Mer says he is. Bailey asks what that means. Mer says it means she likes him a lot. But not more than them. Zola asks if she’s going to kiss him. Mer says probably. Bailey thinks this is super gross! Zola asks if he’s going to sleep on the couch again. Haha I love her! Mer says no, but that he might be coming around a lot more. But says that she’s not going anywhere and that they’re stuck with her.  Zola asks if he can leave his guitar at home! They all laugh because they all equally hate his guitar playing. Some things never change.

So that’s that! Now onto next next week’s promo! It’s a cross over with Station 19. Schmitt comes in with the paramedics with a John Doe. Bailey recognizes him which presumably means he’s a Station 19 crew member. Meanwhile Mer and Alex are operating. Mer’s wearing her pink scrub cap with the swirls on it. Richard calls her into his office. Apparently, she does something that could cost Mer her medical licence! Someone almost falls off something really high. Jo talks to Ben about screwing up and then we see her running somewhere crying after she crashes into Richard.  It looks intense! But the second half of this season has been super lack lustre so I’m trying not to get my hopes up too high.

- it’s flirty bantering 24/7 - little to no physical contact at first - glaring when they steal each others food because yours tastes better but it ends up into laughing because you made eye contact too long - when people point out they Nico is smiling and random skeleton hand pops out of the ground and grabs onto there ankle just to scare them - canoe races. Not romantic dates. Races. - there teenaged boys yes there horny but no!! Physical!! Contact!! - like in the future yes but at the beginning it’s all a fun and games - I legit can’t see them making out until there 16 and even then its making out as in kissing longer than 30 seconds - and than it leads into wrestling and star gazing and trying to find a dick in the stars b/c there teenage boys vvhat do you want from them - Nico was raised to be against gays he had an internalized homophobia and is still weirded out by his desires until he remembers how great will is and will can’t possibly be wrong - like why would anybody ever not like will? He’s honestly pure sunshine? - they go skiing you can’t tell me otherwise - Nico’s got frail bones and he sprains them easily which is annoying -(it’s never an excuse to see will don’t ducking talk to me about lift up your shirt doctors orders or some shit) -(he honestly just had crappy bones ok he needs to drink more milk) -Nico’s always okay with will touching his shoulder or putting an arm around him - and he’ll fall asleep on him sometimes at sing along fire thingys (bonfires?) - will has this anxiety that his only talent is medicine and he can’t even save everybody? - And although everybody’s like your great at it!! He just thinks no I’m not my own brother died?? - Nico’s got a mood disorder and doesn’t really make it out of his way to talk to people, but he doesn’t really only talk to will either?? - the word boyfriend is still weird for him like,, he knows there dating and stuff and he’s cool with it but labeling it that it’s just weird for him - most of there time together is laying on nicks bed sucking on doctors office Lollipops - they randomly dance sometimes when Nico’s feeling down. - like they’ll close Nico’s cabin blinds and turn on heavy metal and just bounce on his bed and jump around - wills got that accent where certain words are said with it and others aren’t - Nico curses in Italian under his breath sometimes and that is how will learned Italian - suddenly vvhat Ciara says makes sense to him after hearing Nico enough - Jason doesn’t interrogate him and neither does percy and nobody is over protective of Nico anymore than they should be like - they barely see eachother since Jason is in California and percy is at home?? - Nico becomes better friends with the campers than he ever was with the seven - will wears his ski jacket ALL THE DAMN TIME - NICOS LIKE WE GET IT YOU CAN SKI A BLACK DIAMOND FUCK OFF ALREADY - AND WILLS LIKE YEAH WELL SHUT UP 🙃 - it’s all in good nature - let’s stop the doctors orders thing it’s just a joke they have nobody takes it seriously and if anybody at camp ever thinks they use it as an excuse well when Nico does cabin check he gives them a bad grade - like suck it you idiots - Nico wearing doctor stuff like gloves - putting water in doctor gloves and making hand turkeys together to decorate the hospital at thanksgiving - zombie doctors for Halloween - bisexual will is canon will - checking out other campers and getting jealous of the other - Nico making it known there together when someone try's to flirt with will - Nico legit having an agenda against paolo like we can't even understand him for all I know he's been asking you to marry him like he's not even that hot will wtf - will; yeah no your hotter - followed by tons of blushing and shut the fuck up will don't be so gay - Austin and Kayla and will are best friends and Nico just tags along - let Nico have friends his own age 2k17 - legit fighting while fighting monsters like ‘Will you can’t fucking ask the monster to stop attacking us’ ‘Well have you ever tried too’ ‘No I haven’t because I’m fucking sane’ And this is while Nico is stabbing it and will is standing there helpless because nonviolence unless it’s self defense (Nico: ITS FUCKING SELF DEFENSE ITS A MONSTER??) - will has a whole thing about violence because it just means more work for him - like when you were a teenager when did you ever go out of your way for more work?? - will having those no drug pamphlets and no sex ones from glee that Emma had - Nico reads them for a good laugh - idk autistic will / very high functioning - wearing flip flops while at the hospital even though it’s a safety hazard - wills scrubs are wearing baggy clothes and tank tops because he’s too lazy to find actual scrubs - there are no more lollipops when he tries to hand them out because Nico and Kayla fucking ate them all - Nico trying to spare with will but it doesn’t work so he does it with Kayla and she’s like meh - he gets so angry because he isn’t challenged and will just like - suck it up
