Metroid Movie/TV Series Style Options, from most to least likely, because I have brainrot
- Live action with a more 'realistic' sci-fi aesthetic, probably leaning into the Alien influence. Could be really good, especially as a way to honor that inspiration, but could easily fall flat. Most likely to actually happen, but my least favored. If this is the route taken, I just hope it wouldn't go the way of the Halo Paramount show.
- CGI Animated with style and rendering pretty similar to the games, particularly Prime and Dread. The most simple and sensible option and so also very likely, but also a tad boring just because the games are already doing that.
- Live-action tokusatsu show. Not trying for 'realism' so much as coolness, and just really embracing Samus as a Kamen Rider. Maybe not my preferred option, but I would still love to see it just for the uniqueness of the vibes.
- The sort of in-between compromise between 'realism' and tokusatsu approaches to live-action (plus some very obvious CGI) that characterized the Prime and Fusion commercials. Not very likely at all, and would probably not land as well as just leaning fully into one direction or the other, but it would be a fun and unique approach to see, especially if it has the same sort of blend of genuine moody atmosphere and cheesy tryhard edginess as those commercials.
- 2D Animation, Genndy Tartakovsky directing. Would be super cool and stylized, and probably absolutely nail the atmosphere and indirect narrative style best, but I think outside of that one Clone Wars series, the man prefers to work on his own original projects.
- 2D Animation; just a straight-up Metroid Anime. Not impossible, but tbh probably even less likely just because while it's niche over here, my understanding is that Metroid is ironically not really successful at all in Japan itself. Nintendo has called on western developers for basically every game since Fusion for a reason, and so while they could probably call up Studio Trigger or someone to make it happen, I don't think there's too much inclination to take that route. (Especially if Zelda, the way more anime-plausible series, is being given to Hollywood as is.) But it would be pretty cool.
- That specific fucking excellent blended style that characterized the late 90s and early 00s in animated movies. A mix of like, CGI and Rotoscoping and 2D Animation, Mike Mignola influenced character designs, the works. Atlantis: The Lost Empire, Spirit, The Iron Giant, Titan AE, Lilo & Stitch, Treasure Planet, Sinbad, Road To El Dorado, Tarzan, Emperor's New Groove, Brother Bear, ect. A throwback to the Animation Golden Age IMO, basically. (In particular, Atlantis, Treasure Planet, and Lilo & Stitch having the most direct visual comparison/inspiration.) This would be an utterly perfect style for Bionicle, but work slightly less well for Metroid, admittedly, just given the vibe favors grandiosity more than eeriness, and I also don't expect it to happen at all in the first place. But I want it SO MUCH.

the doctor, faced with the loss of ruby, immediately trusts what rogue says is true (the doctor doesn't know much about these creatures, has never seen them before, has to ask him what age they lived to), and doesn't waste a second to investigate further with the fact that there is no way to save her, bring her back, or even confirm that she's dead. he instead waltzs in to enact his form of justice and when it is revealed that no, ruby sunday is not dead, but she will be as good as by the doctor because of his punishment. his overbearing grief of ruby, his GUILT that he did not save her made him reckless. in him condemning these creatures to a certain type of hell, he would've taken ruby straight there with them. they are only saved by this brave person he's just met, saved from his mistakes. i'm so sick of losing people. oh that is so doctor of him

Prompt 8-Favorite Scene -part 1
There are 6 people whose goddamn lives are falling apart in this scene(well, more than they already had) and then there's Korn, playing puppet master.
I'm firmly in the "Nampheung is faking it completely" school. I think everything about her body language screams that she's holding herself back because Korn is such a threat to the people she loves. She does not move behind him, pretending to be in the state he claims until Porsche calls her Ma and she realizes that's her boy.
Also, something neat, though I don't know if was an intentional acting choice or not. When Nampheung is trying to figure out the best way to handle this, her eyes move constantly from side to side, something that Porsche also does when he's trying to assess a situation and figure out the best way to handle it.
ETA-When Nampheung goes over to Korn she grabs his gun arm...lightly but she keeps her hand on it until his focus is off Porsche and back onto Gun. I don't think that was an accident because when he's arguing with Gun she is clutching her dress like she wants to grab his arm again and has to physically restrain herself. She can only protect one of them and she chose Porsche (rewatching this scene over and over puts me also firmly in the - she did love Gun school of thought)
Bits that get me screaming
Kinn's constant little disappointed, despondent, disbelieving head shakes. Sorry, brah but no matter how many times you do it, it's not gonna make your father any less of a monster or any of this not true.
Porsche grabbing his head because Korn and Gun arguing is making him flashback to that day again.

What are your thoughts on the Prince of Stan?
Hi immortal ily sorry this took me ages to respond I have chronic I forgor syndrome
Honestly. Okay I really hope that season five does for him what season four did for Redtooth. Because I was honestly pretty impartial (if not made fun of) both of these characters up until season four kind of dug deeper into them, and I really wanna see /how deep/ it'll go with him. And I'd also like it if they gave him an actuAL GODDAMNED NAME
I do enjoy him I just... I need more to work with like. We've barely been given crumbs and I feel like it'll be a while before his story has a big payoff because despite the lack of focus on him he's such an important player in the game. And he's just.Like he's interesting. And it seems to have been implied so far his beliefs in Stan have been shaken and I wanna see what he does about that.
Stan feels like a very. Propaganda-y filled place to me. Which, it is based on America so duh, but the things we've seen so far, the dialouge we hear from other characters, they're not only so absorbed in this belief that they're superior and the most powerful and such but the Prince himself fundamentally doesn't understand most things about anyone who's not Stanian. To the point he doesn't understand why Cola and Seven are so happy and such cheerful people; yet also he's rattled when the child from Superpower country confronts him about the perpetual fear they live in because of Stan. He's very... prideful, I think is the word? And I really love how this has sort of been shaken throughout the series so far; and while I wish I already knew how this would pay off, I'm very glad it's taking so much for it to. Because of course it's going to take /a lot/ to shake his beliefs, because he was born and raised Stanian and his entire life he's only known that they're "the greatest." That everybody else is below him in some sort of way. So far it's been masterfully written at a good pace I just can't wait to see more.
His relationship with Seven is interesting too. I mean aside from the fact they've tried to kill each other before, its interesting how they always end up on the same side, despite the fact Seven is essentially public enemy #1 of Stan. Like this man killed his father. But to absolutely risk his life fighting White Fox at Cola's whim for Seven is just. Like there's so much to unpack here. And I wanna understand deeper like, why Cola has had such an effect on him. Why Cola specifically. Surely it's related to her mother and her power, but I just like. Wanna be able to unpack it in full. He's a very interesting man and I just really really can't wait till his developments so far pay off

I’m still not getting over that one post where someone asked who the most loyal life series member is, I don’t have a solid answer myself tho I have scattered thoughts I wouldn’t mind sharing, but I CANNOT believe the people who said Jimmy. It’s not like Jimmy is the LEAST loyal, but he’s CERTAINLY not the MOST.
It’s something I really love about his character. That sort of disloyalty, not because he doesn’t care about his allies but because he feels like he needs to. It’s so delicious lol. His betrayals done out of desperation, that never end up working in his favor. He’s a fool to do it, yet a fool to not try, he’s a fool no matter what.
He’s got his whole canary curse yaknow? But he doesn’t sit around and accept it like I see him portrayed sometimes. He tries his best to break the curse, and this of course includes underhanded tactics like betrayal. He has his allies to help him but if he starts getting nervous, feels like they haven’t helped him enough he snaps and tries to take that help. He needs it and they’re not giving it to him. Most times he won’t even try asking, he knows they won’t help him so much willingly.
The way he desperately betrays his allies, no matter how much he likes them, and it doesn’t work out and he winds up worse off than before, because he risked losing the one or more people who were actually trying to help him. Augh it’s so good. Jimmy’s willingness to betray out of desperation is highly underrated imo. He doesn’t do it every time, but yknow.

*tries to write a post about the last 60th Anniversary special*
*is too overwhelmed with Feelings to string two words together in a coherent manner*
... anyway thank you RTD for reconciling me with the entire concept of found family after fandom at large tried its best to sour it and poison it in so many different ways.
*whipes tears away, still smiling and a bit dazed*

not my dad not liking moral orel season 3 🤭🤭🤭that's so embarrassing for him (<- he's not wrong for feeling that way but i think it's like 60% because he doesn't like it when art gets weird and that's so so tragic for him)
#i actually think his points make sense this time. which tbqh is not normally how i feel when he criticizes smth i love#basically he was like s3 was a completely different show from the first two seasons#and he didn't like how all over the place and directionless it felt#and honestly yeah ok i can see that#personally i think the choice to broaden the focus to moralton broadly vs mostly just orel is really interesting#and it allows for different facets of their critique of fundie waspisms to extend to situations/characters orel wouldn't really be privy to#(could you imagine 'alone' with orel there? me neither)#and i personally liked them fleshing out the marginal characters. i never found that boring or like a major diversion#again they're like 11 min episodic(ish) things it's hard for them to feel like they drag on y'know#it shows a lot of ambition and i think they pulled it off really well tbh (cancellation aside)#but i will agree that the transition is a little sudden. nature is such a big moment for the series#and for orel's arc specifically but then we spend little time with orel post-nature so the tone shift doesn't#necessarily align with his realization (at least in terms of the canon timeline. ep release order does align)#it's sudden but we jump back to before the shattering. it's disorienting and i think it's kind of cool as hell#a realization like orel's in nature is gonna throw the past into question and color his life and thus the town#(bc let's face it orel is the real mayor of moralton kfhsjs) and while we've been seeing Some of moralton's ugliness#in every episode until now it's shown in full force in and post-nature (release-wise). so when the timeline jumps around#and it all feels twisted and hazy and sickening and it All Comes Back To The Hunting Trip as our point of reference#for when things are happening it makes it feel like the trip Caused this disturbance. it's almost a spatio-temporal THING#like orel IS the center of this universe. my point is it's weird and i like it a lot i think it works#but anyway i think s3 is a natural evolution of s1+2 albeit an accelerated one#and i really wish we'd gotten to see more of what s3 morel was cooking bc it was setting up some really cool stuff imo#like he hated everything w mommy censordoll x clay but it's SUCH a cool place to take their characters. freud would go crazy#moral orel#and i think if they knew where they had to end the season maybe focusing on other characters was a way to keep orel stagnant enough to like#end the finale where they needed him. maybe.#we actually DID finish it yesterday. i rewatched the finale the day before bc i was impatient but yeah 👍#now it's chapter black time >:}
