I was thinking about your bronya & tsaritsa posts earlier today,, and I was wondering if there’s any other characters you think may end up being (or. already are) hi3 expys too? lore/arc wise, or just by design :3

ohhhhhhh you opened up a large can of worms w this one.. ii start visibly vibrating w excitement

general criteria are like. matching voice actors, very similar designs, some overlapping similarities. ie: mei and ei both having things to do with origin, time-fuckery (kinda), having similar designs, both being named raiden, being associated w lightning, sword users, etc. mostly we look at lore for talking about alts :3

lore-wise/confirmed (ordered by nation):

sustainer of heavenly principles -> kiana kaslana (herrscher of the void) of course mhy couldnt go a game without mentioning their favorite child. both share voice actors and similar designs. i also think its really interesting knowing that sirin (whos basically kiana's herrscher persona atp) was the first herrscher of the current era that actively abided by the will of the honkai (this being that exists outside of the honkai universe) and how the sustainer of heavenly principles is likely apart of the primordial one's four shades <- which again. the primordial one and the heavenly principles are pretty certainly NOT from teyvat. images below (note: the upwards pointing ahoge, the eye colors, the yellow powers, the red color schemes between kiana's herrscher of flamescion battlesuit, etc. in order: hi3 kiana HoF, genshin, hi3 kiana HoV, genshin)

venti -> wendy obvious one their names are similar (in chinese the first character of their name is the same and related to weather). they both have some control over the wind w venti being the archon of anemo and wendy being the herrscher of the wind. their designs are also similar if you look at their archon/herrscher forms. wendy's actually from ggz but i dont know enough about hr ggz counterpart to talk about her :( which sucks bc i heard shes written better and w more depth there. visual similarities below (take note: hair, wings, color scheme. in order: hi3, ggz, and genshin)

lore-wise i do think its interesting how HI3 wendy struggles with a lack of freedom while venti is the archon of freedom. (wendy: is wheel-chair bound due to a procedure/experiment gone wrong because of her being a literal child soldier. + being kidnapped by both schicksal and ae + being a narrative parallel to bronya who notoriously struggles with freedom especially in the chapter we meet wendy in)

raiden ei and raiden makoto -> raiden mei also obvious. i dont know where to even begin here. their surnames being the same; both being associated to lightning and thunder; mei and ei being sword-users; even lil things about ei like the fact that she cant cook whlie mei can because mei has a kiana to cook for and ei doesnt!; mei being the herrscher of origin and raiden shogun's auto attacks being named origin; mei having a line about reforging kiana's swords when it breaks as a symbol of strength and raiden shogun's passive being related to leveling swords and polearms. even like story-wise, while i think they did a shitty job w ei, i can see the bits of mei they were going for! the divided identities w mei (the real gentle and compassionate her being represented w makoto, a cold and cruel facade of hers being the raiden shogun, and the in-between version of her that just tries so hard to maintain eternity and change fate as a means of grief being represented with ei). and see. did not include GGZ mei heree bc i dont know enough about her. visuals below (take note the eye color, hair, the red accents in ei's clothing. in order: HI3 mei HoT, HI3 APHO mei, genshin makoto, and genshin ei.)

yae miko -> yae sakura also obvious w their names and designs asjdbjb. also both being mikos, narukami shrine being heavily associated w sakura blossoms, the fox and kitsune inspirations. and!! the medicine-food kiss in one of miko's books literally being something sakura did to kallen. they dont act similarly at all but i think thats part of what makes miko a successful expy. ei acts more like sakura than miko does! and the fact that their stories with losing their sisters and that spurring such intense grief within them is soooooo oughh.... i love eimiko from a multiverse perspective bc i think with it, it allows miko and sakura to be so so linked while also not being very similar, meaning we get more from miko's character if we know sakura but we dont need to know sakura to know about miko!!!! i also of course have to mention the grand narukami sakura tree and yae sakura's connection w sakura trees and grief.. the way the grand narukami's tree is a symbol of ei's grief for makoto AND the site where miko sends off the spirits of the youkai to rest :]. iirc, sakura's GGZ and HI3 lore are similar enough. images below (note: their hair, color palette, ears. in order: HI3, GGZ, genshin)

nahida -> theresa the whitewashing w this one is so ugly it makes me so mad bc story-wise i actually think nahida is a successful theresa alt. i just hate that they used it as an excuse to whitewash her. like. theresa being a clone of kallen whos physical body can only age to 13 and nahida being a small splintered part of rukkhadevata..... nahida being locked up by the sages because they didnt respect her and otto keeping theresa cooped up both because he cared about her and didnt wnat her to get in his way......... nahida being the archon of wisdom and theresa being the principal of st freya......... EVEN LIKE. THE TIME BETWEEN RUKKHADEVATA & NAHIDA BEUNG THE SAME AS KALLEN & THERESA (500 YEARS).. and, of course, nahida's attempts at addressing the discrimination/inequality between the two sumeru regions being akin to theresa's attempts to right otto's wrongs after she becomes schicksal's overseer. also the religious imagery w theresa and kallen veing christian and nahida and rukkhadevata and both being underestimated for their young appearances. not including ggz theresa here. (below is theresa's verdant sky skin, the first battlesuit of hers we see, and nahida. after is kallen and then rukkhadevata. take note the color schemes, braids vs ponytails, height)

al haitham -> su same as nahida it pisses me off so so much they whitewashed al haitham for this. but looking aside from the obvious visual similarities for a sec ok listen hear me out. su's buddhism and association w honkai's realm sumeru AND al haitham, of course, being from sumeru which is a nation heavily inspired by buddhism.... al haitham having connections to mirrors and light.. su literally keeping his eyes closed for the majority of the time......... both being rather quiet...... they do not act similarly though which i think serves them both well :] something abt su having such strong morals and convictions and literally being a fucking hero and carrying a lot of guilt in part because hes a healer who's lost so many while al haitham has a seemingly "uncaring" demeanor (not actually uncaring btw) which is something imparted onto him by his grandma.. visuals below (in order: HI3 su, genshin haitham)

Hey there, uhm so this is a weird ask but like, I recently discovered myself a trans woman, like last year and I've gotten really into genshin. You are definitely right, I barely read any fics or look at art because it's always "raidick" bullshit either from honkai Raiden Mei or from Genshin Raiden Ei. And whenever me or my other transfem friends in the fandom criticize it we get hit by tons of cis wlw who are like "what this isn't fetishizing trans women" evern though they never draw or write them like trans in non sex scenarios. if the same were done the other way, bi women, gay men, or lesbians only being depicted in sex but also not existing outside of it they would go like *oh this is only fetish content*

I think he would have a preference for men, but he also likes woman too, kazuha didn’t really care about love before his friend’s death, and after he met Beidou in Liyue he started to move on, he also tried new things, and it’s when he figured out he likes all genders, he doesn’t really care that much about preferences but at the same time he has a little preference for men.

The reason why i hc Keqing as a lesbian is because i can’t see her with a man, and neither ingame lore she never had such a interaction or chemistry with men, and that’s why i think she’s a lesbian, she’s interest in woman, and that’s good for her, being so busy with all her Yuheng work, she don’t have time for meeting new people other than who she work with, and most of them are woman, this makes things easier for her to keep her love life going.

Diluc

Some people will disagree with this one, but just like Keqing, i barely see him with any men, Diluc isn’t really interested in love at the moment, but i think it’s just his personality all because of the trauma he has gone through in his childhood, besides that Diluc actually feel attracted to woman he just doesn’t want to take action or have a relationship for now.

Ayato

Maybe a controversial one too, the reason why i hc him as gay is not only because of Thoma, but the way he acts, he don’t show interest in woman, and the only woman besides his sister he ever interact with was Yae Miko, who hates him and it’s mutual, also in Ayato voicelines about some Inazuma woman, he doesn’t show much of careness or something like that.

Ningguang

Just like Eula i can’t really decide her sexuality, i just think she likes woman, but not sure about man, she flirts a lot with woman in genshin lore and showed a lot of interest, she even work only with woman which it’s a decision of hers. Ningguang would always known she likes woman, she wasn’t dumb as a kid, it was because of her intelligent she’s possibly the richest person in Teyvat now.

Yae Miko

Well this one is pretty obvious, since Yae Miko is already based in a canon lesbian in Honkai Impact, which makes her lesbian coded, but she also is very hinted as lesbian, just by her interactions with Raiden Ei, and the last event where there was a book fanfiction about a Guuji Shrine Maiden who takes care of the Almighty Shogun, and even some of her lines about Ei.

Raiden Ei

Maybe this one is not that obvious but still a little bit, just like Yae Miko, Raiden Ei is also based in a canon sapphic character, Raiden Mei from Honkai Impact too, but is heavily implied to be a lesbian, and Ei is also a introvert who always self-exclusion herself, even from Yae Miko who’s the person who knows the most about Ei and even the most intimate person of Ei, and because of that she only interact in game with Yae Miko and Traveller leading to my thoughts of why i hc her as a lesbian.

Xiao

Xiao is not a human, and he doesn’t have all this thing about taking time to figured out or anything, he neither have grown up with humans, so i think he would already know his genders attraction since young. Xiao don’t really care about gender and neither have a preference, if you ask him about sexuality he wouldn’t understand a thing, but after living with humans he would know about bisexuals and label himself as bi.

Jean

Jean is also a character so busy with work, so she don’t have too many options to explore her sexuality, though she already know about her attractions. Jean wouldn’t have so much time to be analyzing who she is attracted or not since she always overwork herself, but she feels like she doesn’t care, she would accept anyone who is her type, she started to label herself when some of the knights talked about sexuality and she asked about it.

Zhongli

Zhongli is an archon and he knows so much about the world and humans from how long he has lived, he got so much knowledge, Zhongli doesn’t care about all this thing of sexuality, he refuse to label himself because he thinks it doesn’t matter for him, Zhongli has an attraction to anyone not caring about gender and that’s all that matters for him, not a label but what he likes.

So I gave into playing Honkai Impact 3rd, Part I

And let me tell you, to me as a person who's not really planning to delve into lore exploration as much as I do with Genshin (i can and will find some videos explaining it all to me later, as of now I'm here to beat some monsters up and unwind), this is legit the funniest, craziest story and game-wise experience ever.

Here's my list of first impressions:

- I like Kiana. I know that she gets more development further, but like. I really like Kiana as of chapter one stage one.

- Bronya is the most precious person in all iterations. just- ✨👑her👑✨

- I find it to be a moment of genius writing that Mei can cook you literally anything, and Raiden Ei can brew tea at best. This is hilarious, 1000/10 character writing and parallels

- The amount of different banner types and currencies has never scared me so much before. I am ✨absolutely lost and barely navigating myself✨, but I'll get used to it

- I think I was lucky with gacha. Hella confused about some characters being like... physical duplicates??? And I need to build some of them separately, but some of them are already levelled, though I just pulled them? A bit overwhelming but I'll get used to it probably

- Yes the part with Wendy was unsettling bc can you imagine Venti-

- Theresa part confused the hell out of me but I'll deal with it later

- Let's just say I'm trying to pick up on parallels with Genshin but weirdly enough I have lots of parallels with RWBY? I didn't expect to have them at all, but here we are

- gameplay is very fun!! But it's hard switching back to Genshin after it bc the motion and attack buttons are in the same sections but slightly off to each other and so you confuse the actions between the games lol

Sometimes I read about how Herrschers are stronger than Genshins Archons, and vice versa, but in my opinion there is no real evidence that I've seen that they ARE more powerful or weaker.

To ME at least it feels like Herrschers seem stronger(With the exception of the Final Herrscher because she is 1000% stronger, I've researched the GGZ version of her and if the HI3rd version is anything like THAT there is no way that they defeated her- they must have sealed the honkai away before she came into being), because we've seen and read about them more about their powers. We know much more about them, where as we barely know the extent of the power of the Archons except maybe The Raiden Shogun (The puppet which is able to imitate Ei's full power) with her One shot attack and the aftermath of Ei's battle with Orobaxi. (She killed a god and halves one and a half ilands with one strike)

Mostly because there hasn't been a life or death situation the Archons have been involved with that we've seen so far, where as in Honkai it's like every week or so because of the constant threat of the honkai.

Zhongli never interevered so we know nothing of his actual power except he sealed a whole lot of gods away in the Archon War, Venti didn't want to kill Dvalin so didn't go all out (As far as I know, He is the weakest of the Archons) and Ei was getting weaker because she hasn't had her gnosis for a good while.

So because of this I believe they could be about equally strong, it's just the Archons have already dealt with their problems already and the honkai isn't a constant threat (as far as we know, abyss curroption could just be the honkai and the cataclysm/fall of Kheanriah a honkai eruption because they're eeriely similar) so we see no action like that from them, so they're always in their what I call 'human' state which the Herrscher do also have but can't access their full power in that form.

Exsample in the Manga Venti does this only to be recognized as the Anemo Archon, meanwhile for Mei the human state is Danzai Spectamancer. But it's just headcanon with some believable evidence but it's not confirmed or anything you don't need to take the human state thing seriously, it just looks to me like it's a thing that both have.

We Just don't see them do anything that says theyre stronger than the Herrscher or weaker.

Of course nothing is confirmed or anything, that's just my opinion. Of course there are Herrschers that are infact stronger than the Seven from Genshin but they ARE the Seven, there was only ever seven of them where as in Honkai the Herrscher get drasticly stronger the higher the number.

And the higher the number the more crazy their powers become, like Senti has the potential to be the 2nd strongest Herrscher just because her power is what it is.

And there was never need for more and stronger Archons if we hypotheticly say they're actually the same beings just are called and do diffrent things because they are very similar, so their power never escelated like the Herrschers do.

Maybe the Archons have powers unique to them just never seen because again, no situations anymore that draws this out, which the Herrscher don't have that evens this out?

But still Genshins story isn't as far as developed as Honkais because Honkai has been around longer, and Genshin is just getting started.

Maybe the Archons really are weaker,but because there isn't alot known about the full extent of their powers It is actually pretty hard to say.

Or maybe im overthinking this . I think they're about the same untill it's clearly otherwise.

Genshin doesn't have anything like the Second Eruption manga where it's clear as day what destruction a Herrscher can infact do.

Unless they bring something like an Archon War manga, which very much so would shed some light on their exact power compared to Herrschers. Because Genshin also had a manga, which never ended up being continued.

But hey, it's just my trying to be unbiased opinion, though I am also leaning slightly towards Herrscher are stronger.

like. venti and wendy. raiden ei and raiden mei. murata and himeko. yae sakura and yae miko. we all know there are parallels in genshin and honkai and some evidence points towards a simulation. this is probably not original but i'm drinkign and can't be more coherent and wanted to say before i forgot. also i really really need to play more honkai but i don't think i have enough memory on my phone
