How Accessible Is Victoria square on East Hastings
A review on accessibility
Every Thursday at 8pm you can attend a punk show at Victoria square on East Hastings in Vancouver I love these show you are Guaranteed great music and a amazing community The music is a mix of alternative punk And Grunge But this isn't a review about music. This is the review about accessibility.
Seating
Tumblr media
Most people hang out on the grassy field in front of the stage it is on a hill. For most people, this is going to be fine if you have a cane crutches, etc. I don't see this being too much of an issue. I have used to my Walker and my cane here. And haven't had too Many issues myself one time. My Walker did try to roll down the Hill. But some people went down and grabbed it. When it comes to wheelchairs, this is difficult though personally. Sometimes I have my friend or partner. Push me on the grass. And I get to talk and hang out with my friends. If the grass is an issue there is more areas to sit, and enjoy show.
Tumblr media
You can also find a bench to sit at but the ones that face the stage are usually Already took by much older people so you Would need to Come an hour early To grab those seats.
The stage
Tumblr media
You will find a large stage at the end of the field The show technically starts at seven, but usually doesn't. Actually, start to around 8 regularly do open night And surprisingly, I have not found a band / singer I dislike Besides that, they regurdy have local banner Throughout the month, with 3 to 4 bands playing per night. Shows are Thursday and sometimes Friday night. You can always check their Instagram. Ahead of time to know the set for that night there There's a decent amount of room to dance I was personally able to get my wheelchair and have come so fun and the pit. I do find people are a little nervous. To dance with me, I was in my Wheelchair But Majority don't seem to care. And what treat you just like everyone else If you don't want to get too involved, I would suggest staying in the sidelines as the pit can get. A little violence Personally, I don't know the care. And I like to get as close to the stage as I can. What I mostly Don't have a hard time with.
How many stairs?
In total, they are 3 sets of stairs, not including the bathroom which we will get into These stairs are mainly avoidable. He just have to go around. Watch can be a little difficult in some areas due to the Hill.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Bathroom access
The worst part about this Venue is the bathroom. There are 2 bathrooms, one men's ones, women's. Both bathrooms are underground. With no elevator the only way down is a very steep set of stairs. Due to this, there is obviously No disable bathroom stall I said it's an outdoor show. You can most likely find another bathroom somewhere else. But as a night goes on, that becomes a harder
Tumblr media
Food and drink
Tumblr media
There are 2 places in the actual park. To get food at drink, there is one lady who sells banic / fried bread and fresh jam They're also are trying to start selling sacks and drinks by the stage. This is Non-alcoholic drinks usually pop and Gatorade. Usually, pretty cheap drinks don't cost more than a couple of dollars.
Personal opinion and files score.
Person I love this place and i go every Thursday the Communities it Friendly Kind and very queer If they're in vancouver looking If they're in Vancouver looking For Free Event meet local punks I would a 100% suggested it as an ambulatory wheelchair used her. I do have my issues getting around the hill and The bathroom I could not see someone who could not get out from their wheelchair Get around comfortably Without assistance Overall, I give Victoria square 5.5/10 If you're interested in more reviews please Give me a follow as it's my goal to. Review venues/seams. That way, people with disabilities can find out what is accessible to them.

Madrid Week 11: Basque-ing in Nature
Hola a todxs! Niko here, back again with week 11 (writing this during week 12 oops [I had a huge databases project that I grinded on all of last week, expect a double blog week soon]) of studying abroad in Madrid!! I’ve got a little over a month and a half left in Madrid. Near the beginning of the semester, I mentioned a VSauce video about time that I enjoyed a lot. Recently in my culture class, we discussed the same concepts. Upon reflection, I think that I’m experiencing time in an incredibly ideal way.
What do I mean? Time flies by fast. It feels like weeks go by in the blink of an eye. Last week, what seems like yesterday, it was March, and now we’re already halfway through April. Time flies when you’re having fun, and I think that much is true. I’m having a blast, experiencing a new world every week, and as a consequence, I’m not thinking about time as it passes. It doesn’t drag; It goes by quickly.
But I’m still in lecture every week. And two of my classes (the engineering ones) are oftentimes unbearably boring. I feel time pass when I’m sitting in those chairs waiting for the time to go home. My life during the week is simple: go to class, cook meals, go to cafes to study. But on the weekends, I’m traveling across Spain and Europe, meeting new people, partying, the list goes on. So it’s kind of like a long-short time sandwich. I get to experience time dragging on in the moment, and I also get to experience it flying by. And, because the exciting experiences happen regularly and frequently, weekends fill up huge blocks in my memories that make it feel like I’ve been here for years. I would say that “it feels like just yesterday that I stepped foot off the plane” but no, it really doesn’t. It feels like an eternity ago, truly.
So, I’m kind of milking time for nearly all that it’s worth, which I think is a W. We’ve only got so much of it in this life. Anyways, there goes my bi-monthly rant on time. Hopefully it didn’t drag on too much. Or hopefully it did. Or both. 🙂
Anyways, last weekend, I learned a very important lesson. Two of my roommates (Eli, Max) and a close friend (Jack) rented a car (#JeepTrailhawk) and took a trip up to Northern Spain (Please don't mind the terribly cheesy title), splitting our time between Basque cities and Spain’s best national park. The lesson? As much as I love cities — incredible amalgamations of culture, humanity and energy — I’ll never experience the same type of awe and amazement looking out over a skyline as I do gazing upon a range of staggeringly huge snow capped mountains. Let’s talk about the trip:
Gatzetelugatxwho?
We set out from Madrid late Thursday evening. After a short-lived yet intense fiasco with google maps sending us in a couple of loops around Madrid after someone (the driver) (Max) missed a couple of turns, we were on the highway headed North. We had about 4 hours of driving until we reached Bilbao, where we had rented an Airbnb for the night. It was a pretty drive — Madrid is surrounded by a beautiful Sierra not even 30 minutes outside of the center. We arrived at our Airbnb (which was situated in a weird liminal space-ish neighborhood) and crashed, ready to tackle the morning task: Gatztelugatxe.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Huh? Yes, I was as confused as you probably are the first time I read that word. Especially the tx, which is pronounced as ch in Euskera, the mysterious language of the Basque people that has no known origin or connection to any modern tongue. It looks and sounds weird, and in the Basque country you’ll see it everywhere. It almost feels like it could have been spoken in some far off kingdom in Game of Thrones.
Speaking of, we went to Dragonstone, AKA Gatztelugatxe. Shout out whoever the location scout was for those scenes, because they absolutely killed it. The site was beautiful, and I think the pictures will speak for themselves.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
After that, we drove a few more hours to San Sebastian and explored. The energy was incredible. Sunny weather, beautiful city side beach, Burnt Basque cheesecake, calming sunset and delicious food (pintxos = tapas in Euskera!). There’s not much more that I can say other than the fact that simply walking around and taking it all in was an absolute joy.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
We proceeded to drive 4 hours west that evening to our second stop of the weekend: Picos de Europa national park (driving quickly through Bilbao, which has a really cool modern architectural style). We arrived at our Airbnb in the pitch black around 12 am, stumbled our way inside, cooked a comically oversized dinner (1.5 kg of pasta is too much for 4 people btw) and prepared for our big hike the next day.
The Hike
We woke up bright and early (it was like 10am) Saturday morning, ready for the 7.5 mile, 3000 foot climb ahead of us. I’d done a 13 miler with a similar increase in elevation once before in the Texan desert (Marufo Vega trail in Big Bend, highly recommend), so I wasn’t too concerned with the difficulty — only with whether we picked a worthwhile trail. I was silly for underestimating “Lon - Río Burón - Peña de Mañimoco”.
We started by driving into a tiny town in the national park, parking on the side of the road and setting off into a dirt trail that winded shallowly up the mountain. At this point, I was unimpressed. Most of our view of the mountain ahead of us was blocked by trees, and the path felt too well kept to be the basis of the true rugged backcountry experience I desired. Jokingly, we pointed to the top of the mountain we were hiking towards when we got to a clearing, asking damn, wouldn’t it be crazy if we went up there.
Tumblr media
Yeah, it would have been crazy, but I guess 3000 feet is not to be underestimated, especially if you start at 1000. The paved trail split off into a smaller one once we broke through the treeline, which split off into a gravel shoot winding up the ridge of the mountain we had joked about a mile or two earlier. The wind started picking up, threatening to throw us off the mountain at any second as we climbed higher and higher (it was seriously intense wind. Jumping up, we actually caught a little extra airtime).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Each switchback revealed a view of the mountain and the valley below that was more stunning than the last. We passed through a huge diversity of different terrains, each so distinct they felt like Minecraft biomes stitched together. We even happened upon a herd of domesticated cows (which we were terrified of passing out of fear that they would attempt to butt us off the face of the mountain... we thought they were wild at first). At one point, we came across a meadow that looked like it came straight out of a studio Ghibli movie. We quite literally frolicked in the grass as another hiker (the only other person we saw on the trail) watched us from behind a tree, hiding from the wind. We talked to that guy later, we called him the Wind Wizard.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
On this hike, I felt something reminiscent of the feeling I got as a 6 year old playing imagination games in the basement of my childhood home — unashamedly wide-eyed excitement. Looking out over the Picos de Europa (literally, the peaks of Europe) I couldn’t help but smile. This is the feeling I mentioned at the beginning of this blog that I think I can only experience whilst totally immersed in nature. At its core, it’s rooted in mindfulness and gratitude for the present moment -- something that I try to practice as much as possible in my everyday life.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
However, the reason this trip ended up being one of my favorites I’ve taken so far wasn’t just for the things that I saw — it was for the people that I spent it with. As much as I enjoy the independence and exploration of solo-traveling, I think that experiencing new things with trusted friends will almost always be more enjoyable. Being rooted in that feeling of wonder with others makes it feel more exciting, more significant, more real — both while it’s happening, and in the memories that stay with us forever.
We finished the hike with a steep decline down the mountain and ended up back at the car, where we drove into the larger town and got some drinks at a local cafe (where they had original craft beers on tap, and where I tasted the best Vermouth I've ever had). We left our airbnb early the next morning, but not before buying a block of cheese from the local Queseria (which was also absolutely fire). En fin, this was one of the most beautiful and rewarding hikes I've ever done, rivaled only by the aforementioned Marufo Vega. I think we chose well!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
So, my key takeaways from this trip? Nature is awesome, and so is experiencing it (and life in general) with other people. At the end of the day, we’re just really smart animals who evolved (in nature) to be biased towards social behavior, so I guess that makes sense (#evolutionarypsychology?). I’ll be in the Bay Area this summer for an internship, and I’m really excited to go backpacking over the weekends in all of the epic nature that surrounds the area, meeting new people along the way.
Here's the itinerary list for this week's trip:
Basque Country Google Maps List
That’s all for this week’s blog! As always, check out the picture descriptions for a little more info. Thank you all very much for reading, and I’ll see y’all next week 🙂

Good morning! I hope you slept well and feel rested? Currently sitting at my desk, in my study, attired only in my blue towelling robe, enjoying my first cuppa of the day (green tea.) Welcome to the weekend!
Wow! Here we are again: Friday! Where did that week go? No, seriously, where did that week go?
First of all, many thanks to everyone that got involved with Throwback Thursday on my page. Yesterday’s word was JEALOUSY and the responses were – as you’d expect – very interesting! It’s a word we don’t even want to think about! It’s an emotion we don’t even want to admit to feeling but it’s something that always finds its way into our lives and, often, it’s other people jealous of our happiness or success!
We very quickly watched all 10 episodes of ‘Blockbuster’ (created by a woman that worked on ‘Superstore’ and ‘Brooklyn Nine-Nine’.) The true story of the last ‘Blockbuster’ store on the planet. It was okay but not mind-blowing. We’ve now moved on ‘Queen Charlotte’, which excites The Trouble enormously. As we all know, black people have been totally written out of English history, as if England was 100% lilywhite until the Windrush ship docked. As real historians know, there were black people in England long before, so ‘Bridgerton’ and ‘Queen Charlotte’ are based on a lot of historical detail.
Yesterday was a very rewarding day of Zoom 1-2-1 meetings with my students. Hopefully, now more clearly focused on the learning outcomes of their end-of-term assignments. Ha, listen to me! I even sound like a teacher now! Then, in the evening, I enjoyed a few hours at a music industry networking event at Tileyard in Kings Cross (photos on my Facebook page.)
In amongst all the prepping, teaching, marking, moderating, meetings and course-designing (comes up for air), in coming weeks, we’ve got lots to look forward to. We’re going to see Dolly on Saturday, The Trouble is selling jewellery at a craft fair in Monk’s Park on August 15th, got a garden party on August 20th, we’ll be at Panorama on August 26th to see our nephew Elijah perform with Metronomes, then I’m looking forward to TWO gigs on Bank Holiday Sunday: The White Lion All-Dayer and ‘Let The Music Play’ at Cinnabar in Stevenage (REALLY looking forward to that day!) We had invitations for both the 26th and 27th, which we had to turn down. I hate turning down invitations but bank holidays are always busy! I’m playing at a private function on September 9th, while The Trouble is selling jewellery at a craft fair somewhere else! We’ve got a wedding in Jamaica in mid-September and, of course, we’ll be back and forth to Hove regularly to see Lady Wesker.
Really hope you can join me tomorrow at 1.00 p.m. for ‘The A-Z Of Mi-Soul Music’: The Letter P (Pt. 4).
Have a fabulous and funky Friday! I love you all. You’re probably thinking, “You don’t even know me!” but, if people can hate for no reason, why can’t I love?

I don’t talk a lot about how much I miss CR, because I mean, it’ll come back when it comes back, right? We know they’re doing a third campaign and most of the time I’m really good at being patient. But today. Man. Today, I miss being able to lose myself in 4 hours of new content once a week.

The Miys, Ch. 138
It’s timmmmme y’alllll.... Food Festival, whaaaat!?
Okay, I know.... I love to cook, and there is a lot of food in this story. But I really do believe in Sophia’s philosophy - It’s the universal unifier.  There would seriously be so much more world peace if world leaders regularly ate dinner together.
I solemnly promise to try to keep food out of the next 4 chapters after the Food Festival. Promise. (Unless y’all tell me via PM, Ask, Comment, or Reblog to do otherwise.  And I would need a slightly more than 50% ratio of requests compared to likes. Just to be fair).
The morning of the opening ceremonies for the Food Festival, my nerves were cranked even higher than the days leading up.  Since I was insisting on attending all three days - which were expected to be crowded - I had bribed Antoine with his favorite breakfast to disable my proximity alerts.  As much as I hated doing it, I knew it would be too distracting to be in a crowd and have it constantly going off.
What this meant was, an hour into the Festival, I had already strained something in my neck by snapping my head around trying to keep my eye on all several-thousand people at the same time.  Conor grabbed my shoulders and tried to steer me toward a vendor while using his broad shoulders and height to block anyone behind me.  My anxiety level instantly dropped noticeably, and I was actually able to enjoy the miniature kebabs from the vendor. Conor had to take his hands of my shoulders to take his, but I noticed that he made a point to keep himself between me and any passerby who seemed to not be paying attention. We made it to one of the seating areas, and he managed to hold the curtain back, making me giggle embarrassingly.
“I just realized that we did everything backwards,” Conor said nonchalantly, stripping his skewer in one bite but at least covering his mouth while he chewed.
My immediate thought was that he meant the Festival somehow, but I had known and lived with Conor for far too long to assume.  Even after this long, he was still capable of shocking me with how his mind worked. “What did we do backwards?”
He gestured between us. “This. Us.”
I thought about it. “I don’t think so? We were friends first.”
“Yeah, we were arse backward,” he laughed. “The only thing we did right was being friends first. But then we went through a crisis where you met our future boyfriend - before we were together, mind  - and I almost lost you. Then I moved in, then Mav moved in. We all got sick, someone else wanted to kill you, then we went on our first date….”
My head dropped back as I erupted in laughter. “Okay, okay! You win! We did everything ass backward!” I finally took a bite of my food while he winked at me and snuck a sip of my drink.
“I forgot the part about meeting your family before we were even together. That was still a thing, right? Meeting the family?”
Still laughing, I shrugged. “I made a point after I turned seventeen not to date anyone who didn’t get along with Tyche.” I could see math in his head and preempted the next question. “Yes, that means I trusted my twelve year old sister’s judgement, even when we weren’t talking.”
“Clearly, I am her favorite,” he grinned.
“She couldn’t decide between you and Maverick, so I had to go with both.”
Grabbing my hand, he pulled me from my seat as I bit the last piece of kebab off the skewer. “I concede in the face of her superior taste.”
“So should we all,” I grinned as he pulled me out into the crowd.
This time, with a somewhat established way of navigating the crowd, I was able to pretend I was a normal person in a crowd, dragging her boyfriend from place to place.  Randomly, we would see people we know, stop, chat for a second, and keep going. A part of me kept wanting to look for Maverick, but I reminded myself each time that he was at home, asleep so that he could work the later shift today. We did manage to find Charly and Coffey, the former of which tossed me a wink as she brushed her fingers casually over the collar she wore - she made a point to wear it each year as a reminder of the first time we met.
This time, however, I was resisting the urge to squirm away, but knew that with Coffey and Conor bracketing us, Charly had a captive audience.
“So… kink night is next month at the Undine!  You’re going to be there, right?”
“Charly, I’m not… I’m not an exhibitionist, and the guys will be at work…”
A large hand flew up to cover Coffey’s laugh before he could turn his head to hide it. Charly scrunched her face at him before turning back to me and rolling her eyes in his direction. “I never expected you to participate, silly. You’re there as kind of an official approval from the Council.”
That launched my eyebrows into my hairline. “Do you need official approval?”
“Not really,” Coffey intoned. “It’s more preventive - if we start with approval from the local government, in a non-participatory way, there can’t be any backlash later.”
I heard a snort over my shoulder before Conor spoke up. “So, she’s just…. Going to sit there?”
“There is a zero percent chance that she’ll get bored, and I’m positive that Sebastian will need some help.”
I raised my voice to be heard over the muffled laughter over our heads. “I love you, but I’m a terrible waitress - “
“And a phenomenal cook! We’ll need lots of snacks.”
I shook my head and blinked hard. “Won’t you be…. Busy?”
“Not the whole time, no,” she answered, thankfully one-hundred percent serious. “And we’ll be burning a lot of energy. Water, electrolytes, sugar, and just… calories are super important. In finger food form.”
Now we were on profoundly familiar ground. “Oh I can do some finger foods.”
“Yeah… finger foods and non-alcoholic beverages are not Sebastian’s strong suit. Lots of food and sanitizing space are where he is incredibly talented.”
“If you can get Arthur to show up, I’ll be there,” I surrendered.
To my alarm, she started squealing and bouncing. “Oh, awesome! I’ll send you the event reminder, and then make sure to have Sebastian send you his schedule for set up and planning… and he needs to include you in the menu planning, I need to make sure to tell him that - “
“Poppy. One event at time, remember?” Coffey reminded her gently, a thousand-watt smile dominating his face.
She looked around and seemed to just remember that she was standing in the middle of the Food Festival and, theoretically, working. “Oh. Right. ‘Kay, so, Sophia, I’m sorry, but apparently I’m busy. I’ll talk to you tomor - ” Coffey folded himself to whisper in her ear “ - Ursday? Thursday?”
My chest hurt with the amount of laughter I was trying to push down, but I allowed a snort and a grin. “Thursday sounds great. Our place, potato soup?”
“HELL yes!” was the enthusiastic reply before she waggled her fingers and dragged Coffey on to their next station.

(Currently untitled) Heisenberg x Reader fic from 5am
Hi so this is kind of sort of my first time uploading my writing on the, uh, internet. Like, beyond schoolwork. Let alone fanfic haha. But I’ve been really inspired lately by a lotta really great RE8 writers (lookin atchu @fridgemagnethusband) sooooo I wanted to try my hand at it! If this chapter-prototype thing is well received I’ll try my darndest to make more!
Synopsis: It is a beautiful day in the desolate village, and you are a broke peasant. I mean, not that there’s much luxury to go around in the first place, save for the coveted four lords, aka your ticket to a better life. Unfortunately, you meet by chance the only lord that doesn’t bathe regularly, but that won’t stop you, will it?
Aaaaaaand here we go! You can read the 1st chapter under the cut! It’s a little short, more of a demo, y’know, but....I’ve got nothing, excuse the rambling and carry on.
The 4 lords were a menace, if that isn't too much of an obvious statement. You and every other half baked (the only good baker was taken to Lady Dimtrescu’s castle last Thursday) villager knew that they were to be revered, never questioned, and, prayfully, not interested in you. Oh, but your mind couldn’t stop toying with the idea of being so lucky, so special in one of the lord’s eyes that they would, perchance, not use your blood in wine, or adorn their head with your bones, or make a doll in the likeness of your cadaver. The last one always left a cold, clammy chill in your stomach-not often one gets those-when the thought crossed your mind. But oh! The fanciness! The lavish gifts! Surely they all lived in such splendor, being so clearly adored by Mother Miranda. And you could too, if either A.) you make yourself a lord’s pet or B.) Miranda takes you to where the “chosen” go, but you actually return. Choice B was not...ideal, so A would have to work. Eventually. If any of the lords actually ventured outside of their palaces-well, only one of them really had a “palace”, but generalizations must be made sometimes-at reasonable hours. 2 have been spotted somewhat consistently enough; Moreau and Heisenberg, both at graveyard hours. Literally, they only came down to the village to visit the cemetery. The cemetery which, coincidentally, had a vacant, gloriously unoccupied opening for a grounds keeper (Marcus, tragically, was not a lucky contender for option B). The cemetery which, starting tonight, you will be tending to! Alone! With little leelei for other viable economic options.
You try shaking your mind’s voice into submission and carry on with the walk to the horridly mal-lit graveyard. Money is money, and at Mother Miranda’s mercy you were in need of it after one too many missing sheep, which resulted in a loss of wool, which resulted in less trade...it goes on and on. Best not to dwell on the past, that’s what your mother would say. Your mother, which, also coincidentally, was in the cemetery as well. Another fatal case of someone catching a common cold and the only doctor in the village won’t leave his overly dark, dank dam. Needless to say, an awkward encounter would occur between the living and the dead if fate were so ill-a poorly worded phrase-to have Moreau be your company for the evening. At this point, you’ve become so occupied in your thoughts that you almost walk past your workplace. The air is a little damp, cool, very atmospheric for such a spooky graveyard that, since the ripe age of 3, has frightened you to your very core. The idea of being broke, however, frightens you a tad bit more. With a lantern in one hand and well used shears in the other, you set to work on making a presentable spooky graveyard.
The grass finally begins to look rather nice around...dark. It’s very dark, and you can’t use a sundial, which is fine! No need for a clock when you’re working the graveyard shift, a harmless small joke you share only with yourself. You lean against a headstone-it’s an older one, so they won’t mind-as you pause to take a breath. The precision that comes with shearing is often overlooked, but, no matter the surface, it is…painstakingly long. You swing the lantern a bit, toying with the idea that a wary traveler was going to seek refuge in this village, but upon seeing a floating light admist graves scared them off into the night, screaming. It’d be a good explanation for the ever-increasing amount of screams that could be heard on the outskirts of the village. Whether they were made my man or beast is anyone’s guess, but no one wanted to stick around to find out. An involuntary chuckle escapes from your lips as your grip tightens on your pair of precious shears.
“Tough crowd, they must all be dead tired.” A voice coos out from the darkness, followed shortly by an uproar of laughter and a spark in the night. A lit cigar of unknown origin-accompanied by a scraggly, smartly dressed man emerges from the shadows, a humorless smile plastered squarely on his face.
“How about a new audience?”

You can also read on ao3
Once again, huge thanks to @strongindependentcheesecake for beta reading
This work is complete, and new chapters will be added everyday until completion:
Chapter 1 - Chapter 2 - Chapter 4 - Chapter 5 (FINAL)
Summary: The lucky few who have a soulmate are born with heterochromia, with their left eye being the color of their soulmate’s eyes and their right eye being their own color. Not only was Virgil one of the lucky few to have a soulmate, but he was given four. His left eye changed colors every time he blinked, rotating between his four soulmates’ eye colors. His rotating eye colors caused him to be a bit of an outcast growing up, but when he finally leaves for college, things start to fall into place. This is the journey of five strangers finding each other.

The rest of the summer Virgil kept up with Patton and Logan in a group chat Patton made. Patton would regularly send Virgil selfies of him and Logan together. And while Virgil was always filled with a warm happiness upon seeing them together, he couldn't ignore the bitter pang of loneliness.
As the start of their junior year drew nearer, Logan went back to his apartment. With the three of them all in separate locations, they would have regular skype calls that would usually last hours longer than planned (they'd only end once Logan was insistent they go to bed).
Logan sighed after he hung up the skype call. Virgil and Patton were comfortably back in their dorm and were cuddling on one of their beds as they talked with him. Logan didn't mind watching them show affection for each other (he actually enjoyed it, though he'd never admit it out loud), but he was starting to feel the bitter truths of the isolation he built for himself. He hadn't bothered to try and make any friends during his time at college. He told himself he wanted to focus on studies. He was okay, better even, on his own. But then he ran into Patton and Virgil, and he felt more alone than ever.
He got up from his desk and went to the kitchen to refill his water bottle before heading to bed.
'Hiya, Logan," his roommate Emile said from the couch. "How are Patton and Virgil?"
"They're doing well."
Emile was studying to be a therapist at the same university and had answered Logan's roommate ad. Logan had started off rather distant, engaging in small talk but never bothering to try and get to know him. It wasn't that Emile wasn't a good roommate - he was as good a roommate you could ask for. Always paid his share of rent on time, never made a huge mess, did his share of chores - but Logan just always claimed to be too busy to let himself get "distracted." But since Logan met Patton and Virgil, he decided to make more of an effort to get to know Emile, much to Emile's delight.
"What are you watching?" Logan asked as he glanced towards the TV.
Emile's dual-colored eyes lit up. That was a big reason Logan chose him as a roommate. He also was one of the few with a soulmate. "Steven Universe. Have you heard of it? It's about this kid named Steven-"
Logan listened as he waited for his water bottle to fill up. He had heard of Steven Universe, though he never bothered to look at it before. Patton had talked about it, saying he wanted the three of them to watch it together sometime. Maybe he should try and introduce Patton to Emile. The two would probably get along well-
"Logan?" Emile asked, snapping Logan from his thoughts.
"Sorry," Logan said as he twisted the cap back onto his water bottle. "I just got lost in thought.
Emile gave him a soft smile as Logan started to head back towards his bedroom. "You miss them?"
Logan paused. Well, of course he missed them a bit. They were soulmates. But in actuality, did he miss them that much? To the point of it hurting? To the point of it affecting his mood? When he was with them, they never got past hand holding, never said anything "lovey-dovey" past sending the occasional heart emoji. And even that was sometimes overwhelming. Was he ready to admit how much he actually liked them?
Logan shook his head. "Goodnight, Emile."
"Goodnight, Logan."
After quickly getting ready, Logan got into bed. He turned over to switch off his bedside lamp, ignoring the buzz of his text alert.
*
Logan woke up to good morning texts from Patton and Virgil. He responded with "Good morning." before pushing himself up to get coffee and prepare for school.
His day went on as normal, which he appreciated. On his way to his first afternoon class, he felt his phone buzz in his pocket but he ignored it. He could always read the text when class was over.
He sat down in the front row and pulled out his laptop. He tried to ignore the growing volume of people coming in and sitting around him.
Class went as it usually did, Logan asking too many questions to where the professor got annoyed and his classmates rolled their eyes. The teachers especially didn't like it when they didn't have answers.
Logan couldn't help he was smarter than them.
Class ended before Logan could ask his last question. He huffed in annoyance and started to pack his bag when his pen rolled off his desk. Before he could reach down for it, someone else had already grabbed it for him.
"You really gave the teach a run for her money, huh?" the stranger teased as he handed Logan his pen.
Logan vaguely recognized the stranger. He was the guy who was always on the posters all around campus for the theatre productions.
"Thank you," Logan said. He looked at the stranger's face and froze. His right eye was a deep brown and his left was a light green.
He couldn't be, could he? There was the possibility that the man in front of him only had one soulmate who's eyes also happened to be green or-
The man blinked and his left eye turned from Patton's green to Virgil's gray.
He was Logan's soulmate.
Logan watched as his soulmate's eyes widened and a large smile graced his face.
"Roman," he said in a breathless voice.
"Logan."
Dear God, why now? He was still trying to figure out his feelings towards Patton and Virgil, and now the universe wanted to introduce him to another?
"This is amazing!" Roman exclaimed as Logan finally stood from his desk. "I've been waiting to meet one of you for such a long time! Let me take out to-"
"I have another class in fifteen minutes," Logan interrupted. Roman's smile faltered a bit, and Logan felt a bit guilty but pushed that aside immediately. His studies came before anything. Classes - Logan understood those.
"But we're soulmates! This is the first time I've met one of you. Surely we can miss one class"
"No," Logan said. "I'll see you in class Thursday."
A disappointed look fell on Roman's face. He opened his mouth to speak, but Logan started heading towards the door before he could. Roman scrambled to get his backpack together to follow him.
"Wait!" Logan didn't stop walking. "Wait!"
Logan jerked back as Roman grabbed his shoulder.
"I've dreamed about this moment for as long as I can remember!" Roman pleaded. "Logan, we're soulmates. We're made for each other-"
"We can always talk later-"
"Why wait??" Roman asked as he reached for Logan's hand, but Logan jerked it back. "Why not take full advantage of the time we're given?"
"I need to go," Logan said adamantly. Roman opened his mouth to object and Logan sighed and pulled out his phone. "If I get out of class early I'll text you."
Roman eagerly took Logan's phone and punched his number in. As soon as Logan had his phone back he turned and started heading towards his next building.
Logan wished Patton was the one to meet Roman. Patton would have been a much better match for Roman. He would know how to react and what to do. Logan sighed as he walked into the building, hoping for a long and boring class.
Of course not.
Of course today was a day the professor decided to let them out early. Logan's mind raced as he tried to think of anything else he could work on.
He was all caught up on his homework - ahead, even. He had all the terms he needed to memorize memorized and had already created all the study flashcards he needed. He had read all the book chapters that needed to be read and had already highlighted everything important. He had no future tests or quizzes to study for nor did he have any extra credit options to due as he had already completed them.
Dammit, why did he have to be so diligent at school work??
The thought of not telling Roman he was out of class flashed through his mind, but that thought made him uneasy. While he was not the keenest on other people's emotions, he was no liar. Besides, Roman was his soulmate. At the very least, he deserved a chance to speak with him.
The campus coffee shop was nearby, so he texted Roman that if he was out of class to meet him there. He ordered his coffee (black, of course) and sat down in a secluded seat by a window. It was fairly crowded, and this was the one instance Logan was grateful for that.
Very shortly after Logan sat down, Roman walked in and eagerly looked for him, beaming once he saw him. He sat down in front of Logan and flashed another cocky smile.
"Hello," Roman said. "I am very glad I get to see you again."
"Hello. Did you not have class?" Logan asked as he put his drink down. "If you did, it was very convenient you were dismissed early as well."
"Actually, I just left," Roman grinned.
"You were dismissed just a few minutes ago?"
"Well, no. I got your text so I just got up and left."
"In the middle of-"
"In the middle of the lecture, yeah."
"...Okay, then," Logan said after a couple tense moments of silence.
"I want to know all about you. How old are you? What year are you in? Did you grow up around here? What are you-"
"I'm twenty-one and a senior," Logan interrupted before he could get barraged with more questions. "And I was not raised here. I grew up out of state."
"...What about yourself?" Logan added onto the end. It was polite to ask others about themselves as well, right? Besides, he needed to get to know his soulmate, right?
God he hated this.
"I'm nineteen and a sophomore," Roman said as he relaxed back in his chair. "And I grew up in a small town not too far from here. "God, I hated it."
"So... you've met two others?" Roman then asked, voice laced with hope.
"I met them this summer."
"So they were already together?"
"Yes."
Sadness flashed over Roman's face for a split second but was quickly disguised again by Roman's large grin.
"Could you tell me about them?"
"Their names are Patton and Virgil. Patton's the green, Virgil's the gray," Logan said as he picked up his coffee again, wanting to avoid the soft gaze Roman had on his face. "They're both juniors and twenty, though Patton is older than Virgil by three months. They're art majors but Virgil has a minor in creative writing and Patton has been looking into dual majoring in psychology. They both live and go to a university out of state."
"Could you introduce me to them?"
"I'll tell them I met you tonight and see if they'd prefer video call or in person."
Roman nodded.
"Back to you," Roman said as he managed to catch Logan's eye. "What are you majoring in?"
"I am majoring in chemical engineering, with a minor in education so that I may teach one day if I so choose."
As Logan talked, Roman rested his head on his hand and smiled at Logan in such an admiring way it almost made Logan uncomfortable. Those looks were for Patton and Virgil only, who he already knew to a degree. How could Roman look at Logan with such eyes when they had met not two hours ago?
"Yourself?" Logan asked.
"I'm majoring in musical theatre with a minor in theatrical costuming, but I also persuaded the chorus professor to give me voice lessons that are usually reserved only for voice majors," Roman said with a proud grin.
"Hm," Logan huffed, though immediately regretted it.
When Logan met Patton and Virgil and learned they were both art majors, he was a bit disappointed he couldn't talk to them about the sciences, but it didn't bother him too much since at least he had two other soulmates who could share his passion for math and science.
But now his third one is a theatre major, leaving only one. Logan was running out of options.
"...What does 'hm' mean?" Roman asked defensively, straightening his back as he examined Logan's face.
"It's nothing. I shouldn't have said it."
"It's clearly something."
"I just... I can't understand why you would spend your time and money in higher education only to indulge in over-glorified make believe," Logan said incredulously, completely aware of how rude he sounded but not being able to help himself.
"I wouldn't put it like that," Roman said defensively. "I don't think you're aware of how much hard work one has to do to refine one's acting abilities-"
"One's higher education is one of the most important and deciding times of one's life," Logan interrupted. "And you're here studying theatre and skipping classes."
"I bailed so I could see my soulmate," Roman said, voice rising in volume. Logan glanced at the people around them. "Perhaps you're taking college a bit too seriously! Yes, and education is important, but college is also the time to have fun and discover yourself!"
People were staring at them.
"If you are just going to yell, I am going to take my leave," Logan said as he grabbed his bag. Roman's eyes widened as he stood with Logan and went to say something but Logan didn't let him speak. "I will see you in class. Goodbye, Roman."
"Really!?" Roman shouted after him. Now everyone was staring. "When I imagined my soulmates, the ones made for me, I always imagined someone who I can share my passions with. But are you really so impersonal you'd abandon your own soulmate? Is school really all you care about!?"
"Goodbye, Roman."
And Logan left.
Logan fell back onto his bed and groaned into his hands. God, why did he have to be so bad at interacting with others? Why did he have to be so bad at understanding emotions that he could neither understand his own or read others? Why did he have to have no filter between his brain and his mouth?
He heard his phone buzz and he groaned again. He knew who it was.
Patton: Me and Virgil are ready to video chat when you are <3 <3
Logan had to stop himself from correcting him to "Virgil and I."
He bit his lip as his thumb hovered over his phone keyboard before quickly typing out a message.
Logan: I'm afraid I'm feeling a bit sick tonight. I think I'll just go to bed early, but I'll talk to you soon. Patton: Oh, I'm sorry! :( I hope you feel better soon <3 <3 <3 Virgil: take care, logan Virgil: <3
He couldn't let them see him. He hadn't had the courage to look, but he knew his left eye was just light brown now. Once Patton and Virgil noticed his eye no longer changed color, he'd have to tell them about Roman and what a disaster that was.
He did go to bed early that night, exhausted from all the emotional turmoil from the day. He wasn't looking forward to Thursday.
*
As much as Logan wished the Earth would have been engulfed by the sun before Thursday, that wasn't due for another billion years, so Logan had to go to class.
He got there early and sat in his seat in the front row. He pulled his laptop out of his backpack and stared at it, not being able to comprehend anything on the screen.
Other students started trailing in to their usual seats, though Logan' refused to look at any of them. But when someone in red walked past him, he knew it was Roman. He recognized the cologne.
When the class finally ended, Logan stood right outside the doorway to try and catch him.
"Roman!" Logan called when he walked out. Roman's eyes widened a bit but he nodded.
"Logan."
"I wanted to apologize-"
Roman held up a hand to stop him and motioned his head towards the end of the hall where it was quieter.
"I wanted to apologize for what I said on Tuesday," Logan started. "It was very rude of me to say, and I'm sorry."
"It's okay. I... I'm sorry if I was a bit overbearing," Roman shrugged back.
"It's fine," Logan said. The two just stared at each other for a few moments, not knowing what to say.
"I... I have another class," Logan started.
"...I guess I'll... see you around?"
Logan nodded and the two parted ways. Logan didn't normally leave using the back door, but he didn't want to have to walk back down the hallway behind Roman.
Of course it was awkward. Of course it wasn't okay. There was no way to take back what had been said. Even though Logan apologized, Roman still knows what Logan thinks about his major, and Logan still knows Roman thinks he's stuck-up.
Logan sighed as he walked towards his class. At least he'll have calculus to distract him.
*
That next Monday, Logan was sitting at one of the outside tables outside the school union. He was working on extra credit for astronomy, one of his favorite classes. The weather was a bit cooler, and he was almost cold in the shade, and the fact that there had been steady wind all day wasn't helping.
Logan heard the chair across from him scrape against the concrete. Logan looked up to see Roman sitting across from him.
"Hello," Roman said with a small smile.
"Salutations," Logan responded, a bit dumbfounded. "How- How are you?"
"Fine," Roman said. "Rehearsals for the fall musical started. It's going really well. You?"
"Fine. Classes are going well."
"Good, good."
Awkward silence fell back over them as the wind rushed past them again, causing Logan to shiver.
"Are you cold? Would you like my jack-"
"I'm fine, thank you," Logan said quickly.
Another awkward silence.
"What are you working on?" Roman asked.
"I am working on an extra credit paper for astronomy, but I can't decide if I should write about the Copernicus and heliocentric models of the galaxy, black holes, or dark energy and matter. All of the topics are so interesting, it's hard to decide."
"I... understood maybe half those words," Roman admitted.
"Oh..."
"Why don't you tell me about them?" Roman asked, voice almost hopeful. Logan stared at him for a few moments.
"...Are you sure?"
"Yeah," Roman shrugged as he sat back in his chair. "I'm done with classes for today. Maybe talking about it out loud will help you decide what to write about?"
So Logan did. He told Roman all about his astronomy galaxy models and black holes and what dark matter is (or really, what it isn't), but soon he found himself rambling about other things, from space travel to gravitational waves to how the human eyes perceive light - any topic he came across relating to the subjects he had to talk about. They were all so interesting, how could he not?
Roman's own face lit up as he walked Logan talk. The way Logan's face brightened with excitement, the way he excitedly moved his hands around - it was all... adorable.
"Nice to see you excited about something, Specs," Roman said with a grin as he rested his head in his hand.
"Wh- what?"
"I like knowing you have passions, Roman shrugged. "Let's me know you aren't such a straight-ass as I thought."
Logan felt his cheeks heat up and he prayed to God that it wasn't noticeable (it was).
"That love you have for astronomy? That's how I feel about theatre," Roman said as he shoved his hands into his jacket pockets. Logan just stared at him.
"...I'll see you around, Logan."
Then Roman stood and walked away, leaving Logan with a blush dusted across his face.
*
That Friday, Logan was walking back towards the student parking lot. It was the end of a long week, and Logan was frankly ready to get back to his apartment, make some tea, and relax while listening to podcasts.
"Logan?"
"Oh, hello, Roman," Logan said once he turned around to see who had spoken to him.
"So. This is the Logan you were telling me about," the man next to Roman said as he placed the hand not holding an ice coffee on his hip.
"Oh boy. Logan, this is my cousin, Remy."
"It's nice to meet you."
"Pleasure, doll."
Logan could tell it was anything but.
"Logan!" someone called out. "You left your phone in the union- oh, I'm sorry. Am I interrupting something?"
"No. And thank you, Emile," Logan said as he took his phone back from his friend. He said nothing else for a moment before he realized he should probably introduce everyone.
"This is Roman. Roman this is-"
"I'm Remy," he interrupted. "What's your name, dollface?"
"I'm Emile! Lovely to meet you. Do you how do?" Emile said with a large grin.
"Uh... what?" Roman asked quietly.
"Adorable," Remy smirked as he pushed his sunglasses down, exposing his eyes. His left was a light blue while his right was a dark, coffee brown. Emile gasped, and their eyes shifted into their own colors.
"Oh my goooooosh!" Roman squealed as he lifted his hands to his mouth and glanced between the two.
"Oh my stars! It's so nice to finally meet you," Emile stammered as his face grew red.
"Wanna go grab a coffee? Get to know each other?" Remy asked as he looked Emile up and down before sliding his shades back over his eyes.
"You already have a coffee," Logan pointed out.
"No I don't," Remy said as he poured the remnants of his cup onto the grass and shoved the empty plastic into Roman's hands. "What do you say?"
"I'd love to!" Emile said with a wide grin. Remy returned it with a cocky smile as he looped his arm around Emile's and looked down at the shorter man, Emile's blush growing darker.
"We'll see you two gents later," Remy said before turning and leading Emile down the sidewalk.
"...Well then," Logan said after a moment as he and Roman watched the two walk away.
"Oh, Logan, wasn't that incredible?" Romans sighed. "We got to bring two soulmates together!"
"Yes, I suppose it was."
"...Hey, so, uh," Roman started before the silence between them got too awkward. "I was just about to head to rehearsals, if you'd like to come watch?"
Logan's first instinct was to say no, but he hesitated. It wasn't like he had anything to do. Besides, Roman's making a clear effort to move past their first day together. Logan should, too.
"Sure."
Roman beamed.
Logan sat in the middle of the house, watching as the director stopped the actors again and again and again - giving notes and drilling them with questions about their characters and their choices. They went over and over the same scenes until even Logan knew the lines.
But Roman never seemed to get tired. While a couple actors would roll their eyes, huff in frustration, Roman never did. He took all the criticism in stride, answered all the director's questions in a heartbeat, and took the notes from the director to heart as he improved his performance in the next run.
Roman was really... dedicated.
Logan waited in his seat at the end of rehearsal as everyone filed out. When everyone had left except Roman, Logan stood up and went backstage where he found Roman playing notes on the piano.
"Oh, sorry! Honestly, I completely forgot you were out there," Roman said sheepishly as Logan walked in. "...Did you see how many times I messed up the notes in the opening song? I was practicing to make sure that didn't happen again."
"Roman I'm... I'm sorry. Truly this time."
Roman froze for a few moments before he patted the piano bench as he slid over, leaving room for Logan.
"You were correct in your previous statement about me not knowing how hard one has to work to be a talented actor. I saw how passionate you are about this show, about your performance - how dedicated you are to your craft.
And I'm sorry. My statement was ignorant, and I wish I could revoke my words. But I can't, so I can only offer my sincerest apologies and hope you can accept them."
"Thanks, Logan," Roman said with a soft smile. A genuine one, not one of the cocky ones Roman often flashes around campus. One very few get to actually see. "I'm sorry I called you impersonal, or whatever. I was just angry."
"You had every right to be."
"We're not so different, you and I," Roman said with a cheeky grin. "We hold similar fervor, we just fan different flames. I saw that spark in your eyes on Monday. You're passionate in your own way. I admire that. Plus, you're super smart and have a gorgeous face. How lucky am I to get you as a soulmate?"
"I admire your passion and dedication, as well," Logan said as he glanced away, feeling his face heat up again.
Roman smiled, and when Logan looked back at him, he couldn't help but smile back.
"So, you play piano?" Logan asked.
"Yep. And guitar. And drums. And french horn and violin."
"Wow. How did you manage to learn all those?"
"French horn I learned in my school's band and violin in the orchestra. Piano, guitar, and drums I taught myself by saving up money washing cars and buying discounted instruments online."
"Incredible," Logan whispered. Now it was Roman's turn to blush. "And you can sing and act. Now who's the lucky one?"
"Still me," Roman grinned. "But thank you," he added softly as he glanced away.
"Will you play me something?"
"Happily. Any requests?"
"One of your favorites."
Roman thought for a moment before placing his hands on the keys. He started singing in that low, beautiful voice Part of Your World.
"You're magnificent," Logan said as Roman took his hands off the keys. Roman's blush returned.
"Thank you."
"So you like Disney?"
"I love Disney," Roman grinned. "Do you?"
"I have never seen a Disney movie. I never watched much TV growing up. My parents told me it would hinder my studies," Logan said. "I've seen parts whenever Emile watches them in the apartment, and I'm familiar with a few songs I've heard over the years, but I can not say if I like Disney or not."
"Never seen Disney?" Roman gasped. "Come over to mine and Remy's apartment tomorrow. I'll kick him out for the day, and we can binge Disney movies. I'll show you all the classics."
"I think I could enjoy that," Logan said as he made the mental note to finish his assignment tonight so he had free time tomorrow.
"It's a date?" Roman asked with a hopeful smile.
"It's a date. I'll let you continue practicing, now. I have schoolwork I need to do, anyways," Logan said as he stood up.
"I'll see you later, Specs."
"Goodbye, Roman."
"...Wait, Logan?" Roman asked once Logan was at the door.
"Yes?"
"Do... do the others know about me yet?" Roman asked so softly Logan almost didn't hear him.
"I'll tell them about you tonight. I promise," Logan said. "I'll text you what they say about meeting you."
"Thanks, Logan."
Logan nodded and turned to leave, the sound of the piano and Roman's beautiful voice fading as he walked away.

I'll tell him yes, right? Or do we have any plans today?
David: *looks up from his laptop when he hears Matteo's words and smiles* Cake sounds good... *then thinks for a moment if there's anything scheduled for today and quickly glances at the date on the laptop and then at the time with some panic* Oh crap... *briefly runs a hand through his hair in confusion* I've got a doctor's appointment in an hour... *is glad that at least he’s already showered* But afterwards I'd love to... cake I mean! *gets up and sits down on the bed to already put on some socks* *leans over to Matteo and kisses him briefly* *then grins* Maybe you shouldn't only remember the dates for birthdays and anniversaries but also the ones for the doctor's appointments...
Matteo: *nods when David says that cake sounds good* *is already typing up a response to Hans when he hears David's "Oh crap" and stops typing* What? *sits up when he hears that David has a doctor's appointment* Oh really? *then thinks for a moment and realizes that it can't be an appointment for testo and frowns* What kind of doctor's appointment? *smiles when he gets kissed because then it can't be something bad* *grins slightly* Maybe you should give me a copy of your calendar... *only says this as a joke* *would never expect that from David* Do you have to leave straight away? *quickly finishes his response to Hans saying that he'll probably be home soon and puts the phone away*
David: *bites down on his bottom lip for a moment when Matteo asks about the appointment and without looking at him murmurs* At the gynecologist... *grabs the phone from his nightstand and puts it in his pocket* *grins slightly when Matteo mentions the calendar* Maybe I should get myself a calendar in the first place... *checks the time again and shakes his head at Matteo's question* I still have 10 minutes... *lets himself fall back onto the bed and simply pulls Matteo with him* *murmurs* We definitely have to make use of the time productively...
Matteo: *nods slightly at David's answer* *hasn't really realized just yet what kind of doctor he talked about but had simply nodded* *tilts his head* You don't have a calendar? Despite all your doctor stuff? And your memory? *laughs slightly when David pulls him down with him and wraps his arm around him* *but then realizes what David had said* Hang on... did you just say gynecologist? Is that... well? *looks at him questioningly* Why?
David: *grins slightly when Matteo asks about the calendars again and shrugs* I have a more or less well-organized pile of notes with doctor's appointments... *laughs briefly* Strangely enough I've never missed one... *also wraps one arm around Matteo once they are lying down and pushes one leg between his* *nods when Matteo asks about the gynecologist* *notices that he's looking at him but somehow can't return his look right now* *therefore buries his face in Matteo's shoulder and grumbles slightly* *then pulls away again but still doesn't look at Matteo* Well... the organs and such are still there... so you have to go to check-ups regularly... besides, I need a confirmation letter for the mastectomy and the hysterectomy that everything's okay...
Matteo: *grimaces slightly because David doesn't want to look at him and because he feels stupid himself* *David still has the stupid female organs, therefore he has to go to a doctor who specializes in it* *kisses his head and hugs him a little closer* *quickly answers* Yes of course... *then thinks for a moment and thinks that it would be a little odd but that he wants to be there for David when he needs him no matter what* *therefore asks* Do you want me to come with you?
David: *at first thinks that he misheard him but then thinks that it's so typical for Matteo that he wants to support him wherever he can and that it's one of the reasons he loves him so much* *still laughs quietly and shakes his head* *looks at him, after all, and lightly runs his hand through Matteo's hair* That's really sweet but it's embarrassing enough on my own... you don't have to do that to yourself... *kisses him softly and murmurs* I'll just meet you in the flatshare afterwards and in the meantime you can make sure that Hans doesn't eat the entire cake by himself... okay?
Matteo: *tilts his head slightly when David says that it's embarrassing* Then I could come along and tell all the women who give you a look that I'm already in my 6th month of pregnancy and that I'm worried because you still can't see anything? *gives him a slightly wicked grin* That would distract them... *but then nods* No, but I understand... *kisses him again and runs a hand through his hair* *nods* I'll save you a slice, I promise...
David: *quietly laughs at Matteo's suggestion and says* If I ever want to switch gynecologists, then you're welcome to try that... *smiles when Matteo says that he understands it and returns his kiss* *murmurs to the cake-thing* Good... or two... *grins slightly and then sits up with a sigh* I have to go... *leans down again to kiss Matteo* *whines against his lips* I don't want to... you go... *kisses him again, groans quietly, straightens himself up again and reaches for the shoes next to his bed to put them on*
Matteo: *pouts when he says that he has to leave* *kisses him again and then again* I would if I could... *sits up* I'll just clean up the kitchen and then I'll leave as well... *gets up from the bed when David does and goes into the hallway with him* *kisses him again quickly* Don't let them bother you... and remember, there's cake waiting for you on the other side... *then watches him leave, goes to the kitchen to quickly clean up and to then go to the flatshare*
David: *smiles when Matteo says that he'll clean up the kitchen* Don't worry about it... *thinks that the kitchen doesn't look thaaat bad and that Laura would surely understand* *says goodbye to Matteo and, like always, has to smile slightly when Matteo stays back in his apartment and when it feels like he would just belong there* *downstairs, he makes his way to the subway and the uneasy feeling about the gynecologist pushes itself back into the forefront of his mind* *hopes that he doesn't have to wait for too long and that he can get it over with quickly*
About two hours later:
*is relieved to leave the doctor's office – on the one hand because he's got it over with and on the other because everything is okay and because the gynecologist said that nothing stands in the way of his mastectomy and hysterectomy* *pulls his phone out of his pocket and texts Matteo: WhatsApp Matteo/David: David: Hey, I'm finally done and am on my way to the subway. I guess that I'll be at your place in about 30 minutes. Is there still cake left? ;-) *then puts on his headphones, turns on music and walks toward the subway-station*
Matteo: *has cleaned up the kitchen and thrown a few of his dirty things into his backpack and made his way to the flatshare* *has eaten cake with Hans, Mia and Linn at the flatshare and Hans has naturally put two slices aside for David, which Matteo was really happy about* *has then retreated into his room and played around on his laptop* *reaches for his phone when he sees it light up* *smiles when he reads the message and replies* WhatsApp Matteo/David: Matteo: Hey, I hope everything went okay. There's still cake left, Hans put it aside especially for you :) See you soon
David: *feels his phone vibrate when he's walking down the stairs to the subway and quickly pulls it out again to read Matteo's message* *wanted to reply but then notices that his train is supposed to arrive in 2 minutes* *starts running so that he can still make it and really manages just in time* *is happy that it's not too full and that he manages to get a seat* *replies* WhatsApp Matteo/David: David: Yes, everything's okay – according to the gynecologist there aren't any concerns about the surgeries. :-) Tell our Guru thanks for saving some for me! See you soon! *sends the message but notices that he no longer has any signal and grimaces slightly* *hopes that he might have a signal at the next stop and keeps the phone in his hand to see if the message has been sent*
Matteo: *doesn't receive a reply from David* *but wasn't really expecting one* *knows that he'll be there in about 25 minutes* *puts his phone aside again and tries to get through the level before David comes back*
David: *doesn't have any signal neither on the next stop nor the one after that but instead realizes that his battery is very low* *decides to save some battery and to put his phone away – after all, it's only 5 stops until he has to get out of the train and his message isn't that important that Matteo has to immediately read it* *leans back and enjoys the music* *at some point notices the train stopping in the tunnel but doesn't think much of it at first, because it sometimes happens* *only when the train still hasn't moved 5 minutes later does he slowly start to get nervous* *takes the headphones off and pulls his phone out of his pocket again only to realize that he still doesn't have any signal* *then hears an announcement through the speakers that their train will be delayed for several minutes due to a technical malfunction* *sighs quietly and wonders how many minutes several minutes will be this time* *is annoyed that he didn't take the bike* *every now and then checks the time and his battery and eventually types a message to Matteo when it's obvious that he won't make it to the flatshare on time* WhatsApp Matteo/David: David: I don't have any signal right now, but at least you can read this as soon as the messages get sent again. My train has a technical malfunction right in the middle of a tunnel. I have no idea how long this will take but I'll definitely be late. Don't worry! *sends the message and worriedly looks at this battery which is only at 5%* *hopes to get some signal back before the battery dies*
Matteo: *manages the level but then doesn't feel like playing anymore* *turns off the laptop and puts it away* *checks the time and sees that David should be here any moment* *goes into the kitchen and takes the cake out of the fridge and puts it on the table* *pulls his phone from his pocket* WhatsApp Matteo/David: Matteo: Do you want coffee with the cake? Then I'll make some. *looks at the phone and sees that David doesn't receive the message, only one tick* *grumbles slightly and simply makes some coffee* *checks the time and sees that David should have been here by now* *grabs his phone again* *sees that his previous text still hasn't been received but texts him anyway* WhatsApp Matteo/David: Matteo: Everything okay?
David: *gets more and more nervous the more time passes* *eventually gets up and goes to the front of the train hoping to get some signal there, but his messages to Matteo still don't get sent* *notices while checking the time that he should have arrived at Matteo's 5 minutes ago and that this information has cost him 1% of battery* *tries to call Matteo but doesn't manage to get a signal for that, either* *types another message* WhatsApp Matteo/David: David: My battery is almost dead! In case you can still read this: I'm okay and trying to get to you as quickly as possible. *in that exact moment hears an announcement that the technical malfunction has been detected and that it will be taken care of as quickly as possible and that the passengers are asked for some more patience* *nervously bounces his leg and forces himself not to check the time because he's afraid that his phone will die* *hopes that it might occur to Matteo that the subway might have a problem and that he'll stay calm but he's afraid that Matteo will panic and just wants to get to him as quickly as possible* *eventually pulls his phone out of his pocket, after all, and checks the time* *can only see that he's now 20 minutes late before his display gets black and his phone turns itself off*
Matteo: *gets slightly nervous when more and more time passes and David doesn't show up and his messages don't arrive, either* *after 15 minutes he grabs his phone and googles "subway Berlin accident" but can't find anything current* *wonders if David might have walked, after all, and that it takes him longer than he anticipated* *but then doesn't understand why his messages don't go through* *realizes that he doesn't know where David's gynecologist is* *what if it's some stupid part of town and he's been mugged and his phone got smashed and he's lying somewhere and can't call for help* *doesn't even notice how he's nervously pacing the kitchen* *keeps looking at his phone* *types another text to David, even though he knows it's useless* WhatsApp Matteo/David: Matteo: Everything okay? Where are you? I'm worried *goes back to his room and grabs his laptop* *then asks himself what he even wants with it in the first place and puts it away again* *reaches for his phone again* *stares at it as if it would help turn one tick into two* *checks the time and notices that by now David is 30 minutes late* *sees several horror scenarios in his mind's eye, each one of them showing David somewhere, injured, and not able to help himself* *considers calling hospitals but then thinks that it's too early for that* *goes back to the kitchen even though that doesn't help, either*
David: *has eventually lost all sense of time and turned on his music again, resigned, but turned the volume down so that he would still be able to hear the announcements* *thinks that he can't do anything but wait and only hopes that Matteo isn't too worried* *thinks that it might occur to him to look up online if his subway is late but then remembers that Matteo doesn't even know which one he's on* *at some point remembers that Matteo's roommates are home and that they would surely calm him down or distract him* *feels like he's been in the tunnel for hours when the subway eventually slowly starts moving again* *takes a deep breath and waits patiently for the next stop – for one to see where exactly he is in the first place and to maybe be able to see how late it is* *when he can finally see some light again he realizes that it's only two stops to the flatshare and that the subway is delayed by about 45 minutes* *figures that with the two remaining stops and the walk to the flatshare it will take him at least 10 more minutes before he's finally with Matteo* *already gets up as if that would make him arrive faster* *finally reaches the stop and quickly gets off the subway* *runs up the escalator and then starts to quickly make his way to the flatshare* *jogs part of the way, finally reaches the house and rings the doorbell*
Matteo: *notices that the coffee is finished brewing and fills it in a thermos with shaking hands* *afterwards immediately checks his phone again* *sees that it's almost been an hour since David said he'd be there* *goes back to his room and ignores Hans, who passes him to probably go into the kitchen or the bathroom* *sits down on his bed once he's in his room* *stares at the wall and has a picture of an injured David in mind* *grabs his phone and googles "hospitals Berlin"* *randomly chooses one where he sees the phone number and calls it* Yes, hello... I wanted to know if someone named David Schreibner has been taken to your hospital within the last hour... what?... no... why does that matter?... I don't want you to tell me a fucking diagnosis, I just want to know if he's there... No, Schreibner, with an n... no S-C-H-R-E-I-B-N-E-R... *is so panicked and nervous and busy explaining to this stupid woman on the phone what he wants to know that he doesn't hear the doorbell*
David: *hears Hans over the intercom and gets buzzed into the house and let into the apartment by Hans* *is a little out of breath because he ran upstairs* *hears Hans: "Hello, my dear, Matteo is in his room... he seemed a little scatterbrained... just go through to his room..." and only nods briefly* *quickly passes him and goes into Matteo's room and sees Matteo nervously on the phone spelling his name* *feels a stab in his chest when he realizes with only a glance that Matteo isn't okay* *doesn't hesitate and so that he can pull him out of his concentration and nervousness calmingly says* Matteo... *takes two steps toward him and sits down on the bed* *stammers* I'm so sorry... the subway had a malfunction in the tunnel... my phone died... I couldn't reach you... *looks at him worried*
Matteo: *shakes his head on the phone and turns toward the balcony door* *hears his name and spins around* *sees David and can't even describe how he feels* *hangs up without saying another word and throws his phone aside* *only shakes his head when David explains himself* *doesn't understand a word he says right now* *has immediately put his hands on David's face, his shoulders, arms, everywhere* Are you all right? Is everything okay? *looks at him as if he could suddenly see injuries that he hadn't noticed before* I thought... *shakes his head because he doesn't even want to say it* *therefore only asks again to make sure* You're okay?
David: *feels like Matteo is way too shaken to listen to him and eventually stops his stammering* *feels how Matteo seemingly tires to feel if he's okay and simply lets him* *reaches for his hands when he seems done and tries to look into his eyes* I'm fine! Everything's okay! *grimaces slightly when Matteo starts his sentence but doesn't finish it* *can't really imagine what he thought happened but considering the condition Matteo's in it probably wasn't anything positive* *just hopes that he didn't think that he ran away again just like that and that because of the stupid subway malfunction old wounds and fears have come back again* *nods when Matteo asks again if he's okay and repeats* I'm fine! *then puts one hand to his cheek and looks him in the eyes* I'm here, okay? *has to swallow when he can still see fear and slight panic in Matteo's eyes*
Matteo: *feels his heart still beating really fast and tries to breathe to get it under control* *nods slightly when David says that he's fine* *looks at him when he reassures him that he's here* *nods again only slightly and then pulls him closer* *wraps his arm around him and buries his head in his neck* *lets himself fall to the side with David, so that they're lying on the bed, but doesn't let go* *lies with him for quite some time before he quietly says* I thought something happened to you... something bad...
David: *watches Matteo and thinks that he slowly realizes that he's really fine* *then feels his hug and returns it immediately* *hugs him close and comfortingly and tenderly runs a hand over his neck and his hair* *lets himself glide to the bed with him and keeps holding him* *feels like he can feel Matteo's heart beating against his own chest and in that moment wishes that he could have spared him that uncertainty and the delay* *eventually feels like Matteo relaxes a little and then hears his words* *shakes his head slightly but feels a small stab in his chest because he doesn't even want to imagine how bad Matteo's thoughts were to be in such a condition* *quietly repeats* I'm fine... *kisses his forehead, because it's the only thing he can reach right now, and then explains again calmly* The subway had a technical malfunction and got stuck in the tunnel. I didn't have any signal and then my phone suddenly died... *hugs him a little closer again and murmurs* I'm sorry... I didn't want you to get worried...
Matteo: *listens to him and thinks that he should have thought of a subway malfunction* *buries his face a little more in David's neck* *but then quickly shakes his head* It's not your fault... *kisses his throat and his jaw* Well, everything's alright now... *hopes that David didn't hear too much of his panicked phone call earlier* *doesn't want him to worry about how worried he had been*
David: *shrugs slightly when Matteo says that it wasn't his fault* *thinks that he could have taken the bike or that he could have checked his battery and charged his phone before he left* *is angry at his non-existent ability to organize his appointments because if he had remembered the appointment earlier he surely would have charged his phone* *plans to really get a calendar* *gets pulled from his thoughts when Matteo kisses his throat and jaw and says that everything's alright now* *somehow doesn’t feel like it is* *he did know that Matteo might be a little concerned but didn't really expect to find him so worried and panicked(?)* *pulls away a little to be able to look at him but still hugs him closely* *eventually asks quietly* Is really everything alright? *presses his lips together for a moment, pushes a strand of hair from his face and adds* I mean... do you want to talk about how you felt? And how you are feeling now?
Matteo: *rolls a little onto his back when David pulls away and looks up at him* *immediately nods when he asks* Really... *then swallows at his next question and shakes his head slightly* I... I was just worried, ok? *lifts his hand and strokes over David's cheek before he puts it on the back of his neck and his fingers disappear into his hair* And now you're here... so everything's alright. Panic mode is switched off, ok?
David: *nods slowly when Matteo says that he was only worried and murmurs* Understandable... *briefly closes his eyes and leans into Matteo's touch when he runs it over his cheek and then smiles slightly at his words and opens his eyes again so that he can look at him* *nods and quietly says* Okay... *then smiles again and says* And I don't get hurt that easily...bad weeds grow tall! *grins and briefly nudges his nose against Matteo's* *then remembers in what state he has found Matteo in and gets a little more serious again and asks* Who were you talking to on the phone when I came in?
Matteo: *shakes his head at his joke and looks at him serious* Don't say that... you're not weeds… *presses his lips together when he hears David's question* *finds it a little over the top and also a little embarrassing in hindsight* *th *therefore only murmurs* Mmmm... the hospital... *then slightly pulls him towards him and hopes that he can distract him with a kiss*
David: *looks at Matteo skeptically when he hears his murmuring and needs a moment to understand what one thing has to do with the other* *lets Matteo pull him in and kiss him but realizes just how afraid Matteo must have been if he started calling hospitals* *tries to imagine what must have been going through his head but doesn't really manage* *pulls away from the kiss and puts his hand on his cheek so that he can look at him and quietly and with a small lump in his throat murmurs* You weren't just worried... you were really panicked... right? *feels his heart speed up at this comment and wonders if he just crossed some line by voicing his suspicion* *finds it hard to keep looking into Matteo's eyes but still manages somehow*
Matteo: *sighs slightly when David pulls away from the kiss* *knows immediately that David isn't done talking about it* *briefly looks away when he hears his question, which is probably enough of an answer* *tries to sort his feelings and put them into words and then looks at him again* *then very quietly says* Yes... *swallows again to somehow get rid of the lump in his throat and then tries to explain* I... I just have to know that you’re alright... *takes a deep breath and adds* I admit that my reaction just now was maybe a little exaggerated... but... somehow I was only making up horror scenarios and didn't think of a logical explanation like a dead battery...
David: *has to swallow when Matteo says that he has to know that he's alright and knows that it would be useless right now to reassure him that he's fine and that nothing is going to happen to him because there isn't really a guarantee for that* *feels how difficult it is for Matteo to talk about it and is grateful that he does it anyways* *listens to him and shakes his head slightly when he says that it was exaggerated and quietly says* If you can only think of horror scenarios then calling a hospital wasn't exaggerated but a logical conclusion to the horror scenarios... *knows what it's like to think up horror scenarios and how difficult it is to get out of it* *wishes that he could somehow help Matteo, just like Matteo helped him back then to get rid of his own horror scenarios, but doesn't really know how* *quietly and insecurely asks* Can someone... or I... do anything so that you... somehow get out of this panic mode easier in the future? *thinks that the question is actually stupid because if Matteo knew how not to panic than he probably would have acted accordingly* *therefore adds quietly and a little helplessly* I promise I will be careful! And to make sure that my battery is always charged in the future. And I will buy a calendar to plan things better! And I promise that I will always do my best to be back with you as quickly as possible... because then I'm alright... when I'm with you...
Matteo: *grimaces slightly when David says that it was a logical conclusion* *thinks that it's nice of him but also knows that the scenarios weren't really logical* *shakes his head slightly when David asks if there's anything that he can do* Dunno... no... don't think so... *exhales slightly at David's suggestions and automatically has to smile a little* Hey, hey... *puts his hand on his cheek again and looks at him* It's not your responsibility, ok? You don't have to turn your life upside down just because I panic really quickly, okay? I also calm down again... *runs his thumb over David's cheek* Unfortunately, life can't be planned the way we might like to... sometimes I'll go a little nuts and sometimes you might go a little nuts... but we'll get through this, okay?
David: *nods slowly when Matteo says that there's nothing he can do* *would still like to do something and will at least continue to think about it* *then sees Matteo smile at his suggestions and also has to smile a little because of it* *but then gets serious again when he hears his next words and interrupts him* *takes Matteo's hand off his cheek and sits up a little, pulling a little away from him when he does, and looks at him seriously* It is! It is my responsibility! And I won't turn my life upside down because of you but because of us! No, it's actually not even turning it upside down! It's the same thing as if you don't go into the water and tell me that you don't mind! Basically it's not your responsibility, either, that I don't want to go into the water in front of other people! And it's also not your responsibility that my butt hurts after my injection! And the mastectomy isn't your responsibility, either! But you made it your responsibility because... because it's about us... yeah, okay, it's actually about me, but because I somehow belong to you... and you belong to me! And therefore any horror scenarios you think of or panic you feel is also my responsibility! Because it affects you and because you belong to me and because I love you and because I want you to be alright! That has nothing to do with turning my life upside down! You're a part of my life... well, at least that's what I thought and so... *shrugs and doesn't really know how to continue* *isn't sure if Matteo even shares his opinion if he thinks that his emotional state and wellbeing aren't his responsibility*
Matteo: *stares at him during his outburst and doesn't even notice his eyes getting wet* *because this, what David was just able to beautifully put into words, is exactly how he feels when it's about David* *didn't really consider that David feels the same way* *quickly wipes a hand over his eyes and shakes his head* Yes... well... you are... a part of me and I... well, I... *takes a deep breath and then nods* Okay... I... I'm just... *then shrugs a little helpless* I'm not really used to this... that someone likes to feel responsible for me... and I... *then looks at him and notices his eyes getting wet again* *quietly says* I love you, too... very much... but I think I still have to get used to it...
David: *sees Matteo's eyes getting wet and gets a lump in his throat* *at first can't really place what's going on inside Matteo and if his speech was a good thing or a bad thing* *then smiles slightly when he confirms that he’s a part of him and calmingly puts a hand on his chest when he realizes how difficult it is for Matteo to find words* *feels the lump in his throat grow bigger when he says that he's not used to people feeling responsible for him because he's so sorry that Matteo has never made that experience* *then realizes that he only really knows this feeling because of Matteo – to some degree also from Laura, of course, but that's something different because she's his sister, and that in the beginning he also had difficulties believing Matteo that he really doesn't mind and is still stunned and surprised when he realizes that Matteo is doing this with him* *puts his hand on Matteo's cheek when he notices his eyes getting wet again and scoots a little closer to him again* *then smiles when he says that he also loves him and smiles slightly at his next words* *leans forward and presses a soft kiss to his mouth while softly running his thumb over his cheek* *then puts his forehead against his and looks at him* *quietly says* The getting used to will get easier with time... I'm talking from experience... *kisses him again and murmurs* I want to be there for you! I want to be there for you the way you're there for me!
Matteo: *is unsure* *doesn’t know if he was able to find the right words* *smiles in relief when David kisses him and wraps his arm around him, his eyes closed* *keeps them closed when David speaks and nods slightly* *gets kissed again and then hears that he wants to be there for him* *kisses him again and once again* *murmurs “okay” against his lips, which may not sound like much but means a lot for Matteo* *a small confirmation of him accepting it, of him letting David in, that he’ll let him see everything and that he trusts that David will stay* *kisses him again and then simply pulls him closer again* *puts his head back against David’s neck and breathes him in* *then looks at him and smiles slightly* I made coffee… to go along with the cake… do you want some?
David: *returns Matteo’s kisses and feels them both slowly relaxing again* *smiles into the kiss when he hears Matteo’s “okay” and knows that Matteo is going to try and that he will do everything he can not to disappoint him and to really be there for him* *gets pulled closer again by Matteo and lies down comfortably so that Matteo can put his head back onto his shoulder* *wraps both arms around him and holds him tight* *closes his eyes and enjoys being close to Matteo* *then feels Matteo move and opens his eyes when he hears his words so that he can return his gaze* *has to laugh quietly and nods* Sure… if the coffee’s still warm… *presses a kiss to Matteo’s temple and then sits up slowly, even though he finds it difficult to let go of Matteo right now* *looks at him* Do you want to go to the kitchen or should I bring the coffee and the cake in here?
Matteo: *grins slightly and nods* I’ve put it in a thermos… *then also sits up when David does and keeps his hand on his back* *thinks for a moment when he hears his question and then decides* Kitchen… *adds a little quieter* I don’t wanna hide… *then gets up and sees that the door is open* Oh… *points at the door and shrugs* *still hopes that the others were in their rooms*
David: *nods and smiles slightly when Matteo decides to go to the kitchen and gets up as well* *follows Matteo’s gaze to the door and shrugs as well* *grins slightly* So you either have very discreet roommates or they really aren’t home or they’re all in their rooms… *leans down to his duffel bag, that somehow has become a steady presence in Matteo’s room, and rummages around for his charger to take it with him to the kitchen* *then follows Matteo and plugs his phone in* *goes over to the cabinet and takes out two mugs and puts them on the table* *after all the emotional and physical closeness to Matteo he now feels a little naked and empty without any physical contact to him and waits for him to grab the coffee and cake to change this feeling*
Matteo: *goes to the counter and grabs the plate with the cake* *then grabs the thermos and puts both of it down on the table* *but goes back to the fridge to get the milk* *then feels his phone vibrate but doesn’t look at it* *assumes that it’s the messages from David that haven’t been sent earlier* *puts the milk on the table and grins at him* Enjoy… I already had some… *sits down and pours coffee for them* *sees David scoot his chair closer to his chair and smiles* *leans his head against his shoulder*

1 - Do you prefer having carpets or hardwood floors? Hardwood, for sure. My house has tile and carpet. I like tile, but hardwood is my favorite.
2 - When was the last time you took a bath? Is this something you do often or do you prefer taking showers? I haven’t taken a bath since I was a kid; I only take showers.
3 - How often do you brush your teeth? Do you floss and use mouthwash as well? Once a day at least. I don’t floss or use mouthwash. I find mouthwash very irritating for my mouth.
4 - What’s your favourite way to style your hair? Do you do this hairstyle often or is it too much hassle for you? I only throw it up in a bun or pony tail cause I don’t have the energy or motivation do anything else. Such a waste, too, cause my hair is so long and could be styled in so many ways. I was never good at that, though. My hair never seemed to want to cooperate either.
5 - If you have your ears pierced, do you prefer wearing hoops, studs or drop earrings? Do you change your jewellery regularly? Small hoops or studs. I haven’t worn earrings since like March, though, and prior to that it had been years. I received a really nice pair last Christmas and wore them for a few months, but then for some reason the back of both of them started to like...get sucked into the hole? It was really weird and I had to take them out. Was not fun.
6 - What’s your opinion on clothes for dogs? If you have a dog, have you ever bought any clothing items for them? I think it’s adorable. My doggo has a few sweaters, a pajama shirt, and a “Adidogs” (haha get it?) hoodie. Some dogs absolutely don’t like them and you can tell, in which case take them off. We don’t leave them on for a long time either.
7 - Do you have a real or artificial tree at Christmas? Real. We got ours Thursday and we have yet to put it up and decorate. :/ I’m gonna make sure it gets done today.
8 - When you go to bed, do you go to sleep straight away or do you read or something similar first? “Sleep straight away” haaaa can’t imagine. Anyway, my nightly routine consists of ASMR, scrolling through Tumblr, surveys, watching TV, and sometimes I’ll read until I fall asleep.
9 - What’s your favourite snack to make when you watch a movie? I’m not a snacker anymore, but I do have to get popcorn if I go to the theater. If I’m just at home watching a movie I don’t usually have anything unless I happen to be eating lunch or dinner.
10 - When was the last time you had a milkshake? What flavour was it? It’s been a few years, but I think it was a banana shake.
11 - What will you be doing once you finish this survey? What were you doing before you started taking it? Most likely another one. Prior to starting this one I was eating and watching a YouTube video.
12 - Do you prefer the Beatles or the Rolling Stones? The Beatles.
13 - When was the last time you played a game of Monopoly? Did you play until the end or did everyone get fed up and start arguing? It’s been yearssss. Haha, I’ve never had a game that ended up in arguments. I always did play for quite awhile, though. There were times we wrote everything down to keep track so we could continue another time. Aw, I kind of want to play now.
14 - Have you ever won money on a scratch card or the lottery? How much did you win and what did you spend it on? I won a $100 once. I saved it and put it towards my Disneyland vacation spending funds.
15 - Have you been on a plane before? Where was the last place you travelled to? Yeah. We flew to the OC earlier this year for our Disneyland trip.
16 - Did you vote for or support Trump? Or were you glad that Biden won the 2020 elections? This election was such a joke.
17 - Do you have anything fun or exciting planned for tomorrow? Nope.
18 - Don’t you love it when you meet a dog or cat and they instantly love you, especially when the owner says “they normally hate strangers!”? Yeah. You can’t help but feel kinda special.
19 - Do you have to wear a uniform at your job? If so, what’s it like? If not, what do you tend to wear for work? I don’t have a job.
20 - Would you rather do a wordsearch or a crossword? Word Search. I love doing those.
21 - How old were you when you stopped believing in Father Christmas? I stopped believing in Santa when I was like 8, I think. It’s still fun to get into the spirit, though.
22 - Do you prefer multi coloured or plain white fairy lights? Both are pretty. I have a strand of multicolor mini lights hung up in my room.
23 - How often do you find you need to cut your nails? They don’t have time to grow because I’m literally always picking/clipping at them.
24 - What’s your favourite colour of skittles? Wow, I don’t even remember the last time I had Skittles. I was never really into them or fruity candy in general. The red ones were good, though.
25 - Do you have a favourite TV detective (eg. Sherlock, Poirot)? What is it that you like about them? No.
26 - Were you ever in any positions of responsibility when you were in school? I was a board member for a club in high school and in college.
27 - Will you be going to bed within the next hour or so? If not, when do you plan on going to sleep? No. Who knows when I’ll end up falling asleep.
28 - What’s your favourite thing to do at the beach? Do you get to go to the beach often? Sit from a close but safe distance from the ocean and watch/listen to the waves crash in and just get totally lost in it. It’s the only time I ever feel like I can relax a little. I love feeling the cool ocean breeze, too.
29 - What’s your favourite scent of perfume/aftershave/body spray? Is this something you wear often or do you save it for special occasions? My favorites are one with patchouli. I do like some sweet or fruity ones. Definitely not anything floral.
30 - Do you need to wear glasses or contacts? How long have you needed to wear those for? Yeah, I wear glasses. I’ve worn them since I was 9 years old.

“Here, let me help you wi-... Y/N?”
Her face dropped immediately and fear momentarily took hold of her once bright eyes.
“Max! I’m over here!” Her obvious cry for help left him speechless. He had been thinking about the possibility of running into her but that was not the reaction he expected to face when he came toe to toe with his past. The gaggle of suited men pushed past him, engulfing her in a sea of black ties, leaving him cast away and alone in the middle of the hallway.  He tried to catch another sight of the girl he once knew but she was completely buried. A chill ran down his spine before he knocked a little sense into himself, regaining his composure and picking his jaw up from the floor. His thoughts ran untamed through his mind for the first time in a long time and he hated it. He wondered why the girl he had seen just then didn't look like the girl he regularly kept tabs on in the papers, what she was doing here, and if she was wondering about him.
His mind had put on autopilot and before he could realize where he was going, he soon found himself in his own bedroom for the second time today. He shook off the thoughts and he found a seat at his desk, his eyes training on the old photos that lined the surface. A small laugh of content filled the room around him as he examined the first framed picture on the sandalwood tabletop. He remembered that day like it was yesterday. Bucky's arm was wrapped around Steve as they entered the dance hall and the night ended with him taking home a girl named Sophia, Steve being left to deal with her very unhappy sister.
The photo next to it was him and Nat at her birthday party from 4 years ago. This time he left with a different girl who was better than any girl he had met in the years prior. Her smile filled up a room with rays of sunshine and when she entered a room, awe grasped those around her. Often, those who witnessed her continued to watch her through the night, desperate for another dose of her beauty. He remembered the warmth that engulfed him when he was with her which is why his heart broke at her coldness earlier today. Was it his doing? It had to be.
As guilt crawled up his back, he pulled out his cell phone and typed out a message.
Bucky: I didn't know you were going to be here...We should talk?
Almost instantly after he sent it, those three dots appeared.
Y/n: Sorry for my reaction earlier, you just surprised me that's all!
Upon receiving the response, he released a breath he didn't realize he was holding.
Bucky:  oh ok… I just wanted to make sure you were ok.
Y/N: yup all good, I have to go, i'm on quite the schedule. We’ll talk later.
His heart raised a bit, noting her shift in mood a little. It wasn't too long ago that they sat in the courtyard and talked for hours under the stars. His phone vibrated, this time at the fault of his best friend.
Steve: Hey, We are about to have a meeting for the upcoming week, why don't you come and join us? We are meeting in the Coulson wing conference hall
A lighthearted chuckle left his lips as he confirmed his attendance and got dressed into something a bit more socially acceptable for a meeting. Upon entering the conference room, he was immediately engulfed in a hug by Wanda.
“Hey Tin Man! We missed you!” She smiled, pulling him into a seat next to hers. “You’ll have to tell us everything! You’ve been living in France? Or was it Italy? What have you been doing over there? What's the weather like?”
The warm smile was reflected on his face as well as he caught up with the old friend waiting for Tony.
Walking in fashionably late as always, he was trailed by a shadow in the shape of Y/N. Her hair, nails, and outfit were perfectly styled as always and she held a glow to her persona. This was the girl he recognized from the papers.
“Hey everybody, thanks for taking some time out of your busy days. Today isss.. uhhh…”
“It's Thursday Tony” y/n chirped in before returning to her phone.
“Yes! Right! Tomorrow, Friday evening, we will be having a welcome banquet to properly kick off the festivities and I expect everyone to be in their best wear. The new recruits will be there and it will be a great chance to get a feeling for them and who meshes well with the team. Saturday will be the trainees attempting to conquer the course outback, Sunday will be interrogation techniques, and finally Sunday we will have our sparring matches. Score cards will be attached to the email Pepper’s gonna send out along with agent assignments. Does anyone have any questions?”
The room remained quiet as Tony scanned the room. “Great, everyone have a great day and, uh, welcome back barnes”  he smiled.
Y/N was the first out of the room and as the rest filtered out behind her, Steve approached Bucky pulling him into his side.
“Wanna go touch up on your sparring technique so a recruit doesn’t embarrass you?” Steve quipped eliciting a scoff from Bucky.
“If you don't mind losing, I’ll spar” he laughed back, shoving his shoulder.
As they were heading to the gym, one of the guards approached and stopped them in their tracks. “Mr. Barnes? You have a visitor.”
A confused furrow caught the faces of the dynamic duo as they changed course and headed toward the entrance.
“Bucky!” a squeal filled the opening chamber of the compound and a small brunette jumped into the very unsuspecting Barnes.
“Camila?”

Fine but dullish F51 ½° at 8 25 – downstairs at 8 ½ - ¾ hour with my father and Marian – breakfast alone in the drawing room in 20 minutes – at my desk at 9 40 to 12 – then in 50 minutes read prayers and one of Mr Knight’s sermons to my aunt. Letter 3 pages and 2/3 page 1 crossed from Miss Walker Heworth Grange. Matthew arrived at 6 ½pm  yesterday – Sarah to be at Lidgate at 7 ½ pm on Tuesday – the lodging to be kept probably till 2 June. The theatre divided to be paid to me – to sketch at Richmond not Rokeby – Mr Brown will be there at 12 at noon next Wednesday week – being off from York per coach at 8am on that day – 44 miles in 4 hours! must be some mistake – I am not to get at Heworth Grange till 20th – will I go forward on that day or set off at 6am the day following – shall Miss W- write in my name to the Inn and have rooms ready for us? Have written back no! I will be
SH:7/ML/E/17/0030
at Heworth Grange at noon on Tuesday week, order horses en passant and Miss W- being ready we will go forwards immediately – be at liberty as to sleeping and stop for the night where it may suit us best. I shall not let her go 44 miles in the morning and then sketch all the afternoon – shall manage so that she may have as little fatigue as possible – say I shall send this evening to let Mrs Fitton know of Sarah’s return and write note to Washington to tell him of it and tell him to pay Miss W-‘s theatre divided to me and to tell widow Mallinson about her little boy going to the national school in my sister’s name and a little girl (if she has one she wishes to go) going in Miss W-‘s name – wonder what Miss W- is so busy about that I am not to be with her before the 20th. If Mrs H.S.B- (going to  Harrogate on Thursday) can’t go with her to return the call (of last Thursday) of Mrs Milne and Miss Belcombe, Miss W- to go by herself and talk as much as she can and stay 10 minutes or ¼ hour – had before and after prayers (before writing to Miss W-) written 3 pages and ends and under the seal and ¾ the 1st page crossed pretty small and close to IN- advice and addresses for Paris - she asked if they should go to Meurices - by all means to go to Meurice’s - rather dearer but more comfortable and less fear of imposition - to write and tell him to have rooms ready for them to be from 100 to 150 francs per week - to provide carriage and laquais de place - the latter to meet them at the diligence bureau whether Meurice could take them in or not - to write to Quillacq to have rooms ready for them, and commissionnaire waiting for them on landing, and to take coupé for them in the diligence of Lafitte Caillard and compagnie, if he could on account of its stopping nearer to Meurice’s - to order gloves chez Privat the 1st thing, and also order Galignani’s messenger for a fortnight, to have it rather cheaper and more regularly than they would know all that was to be seen - wrote in red ink between the top lines of page 1, the following ‘Form of note to ask to see anything  ‘Madame Norcliffe offre ses civilités très empresses  à --------- et le or la (him or her) prie de vouloir bien lui accorde une permission pour aller voir ---------------- to a tradesperson  Madame Norcliffe prie monsieur, or madame, or mademoiselle ------------- de vouloir bien passer chez elle ce matin, ce soir, pendant la journée, demain, l’après demain, or whenever you like’  say (under the seal) I shall leave here early on the 20th for Heworth Grange, and be off in the afternoon on one little excursion which Mrs Norcliffe knows all about - ‘you shall hear more about myself when we meet - I am exceedingly satisfied and comfortable - now room to tell you more now - I beg my best love to you all and am and shall be always my dearest Isabella very very affectionately yours AL’ - asked her to write on her return home - she would have no time while away, and I should surely hear of her from her mother - asked her if she had occasion to call at Lafitte’s, but not otherwise, to inquire if they had received my small packet of French plate from Calais. Dinner at 6 – coffee – Marian and come to me and stood talking till  8 -then wrote the whole but the 1st line and half of today - just added (under the seal) that  Joseph brought a good account of Sarah’s daughter (sent him off at 6 ½ with my note to Mr Samuel Washington Crownest and with the message to Lidgate vide line 5 et seq. last page) and sent off at 8 40 my letter to ‘Miss Norcliffe Langton Hall Malton’ and to ‘Miss Walker Heworth Grange York’ - note today after church printed from the Literary and philosophical society to say the monthly meeting for May will on the 12th inst. and that the 1st stone of the museum will be laid on Friday the 16th inst. on which occasion the attendance of the members and subscribers is requested - ‘it is further proposed, that, in celebration of the occurrence they afterwards dine together, at the White Swan. Tickets for the dinner (restricted to the members and subscribers and the families) 15/ each. Dinner to be on the table at 4 o’clock precisely’ - ‘it is desirable that those gentlemen who purpose attending the dinner leave their name  with the Keeper of the Museum, on or before Tuesday, the 13th inst!!!’  From 9 to 12 except 20 minutes with my aunt wrote 3 prayers to M- tolerably small and close - reading the morning Herald till 12 50 - very fine day F56° now at 12 50 tonight.

12 1/2
Fahrenheit 57˚ at 5 50/.. a.m. and fine, but dull morning – off at 6 10/.. – Lecture De Mirbel from 7 35/.. to 8 50/.. – ordered more little dishes for my plants – breakfast
Washing breakfast things
Watering plants etc. – at the museum at 10 25/.. – Lecture 12 De Blainville from 10 50/.. to 12 18/.. – Lecture 7 Geoffroy Saint Hilaire from 12 1/2 to 1 35/.. – home at 1 50/.. – staid cutting open books De Mirbels Elements vegetable physiology etc. till 2 3/4 – off at 3 – fiacre 1 hour from Place Maubert to Madame Contant’s and then home at 4 – Letter 4pp. and 1 page of envelope from Miss Maclean says she is better, and will set off soon – 2 half sheets full from Miss Hobart – account of the private theatricals at Hatfield Lord Salisbury’s – magnificent doings – Mr Charles Stuart will have 2 months leave and will go to the Rhine the end of this month –
Forest dressed my hair – dressed – off to the Embassy to dinner at 6 5/.. – Lady Stuart ready – I the 1st arrived but soon came Lady Isabella Blatchford and Lord and Lady Lonsdale and an oldish girl who afterwards recognised me and whom I find to be Miss Thompson sister to Mr George Thompson of Sheriff Hutton – there were 1 or 2 other ladies, Lady Eastnor, the 2 Miss Berrys and Lady Charlotte Lindsay, and Mr and Mrs Hamilton Hamilton, a starred general and a Colonel Stuart and a Mr Gregory and Messers Ashburham and Scarlette Attachés – went out to dinner with Colonel Stuart and sat between him and the general who talked a good deal – ditto Colonel Stuart that I had really a very pleasant dinner – Knowing almost everybody it was very pleasant too, after dinner – It was then that Miss Thompson asked if she had not met me in York – somehow I did not admire her much – something rather too…. what? free and easy, old girlish, je ne sais quoi? Lord Stuart went to sit by her, and she seemed to amuse him for he laughed (unusual with him at a party?) very heartily –
Shook hands with Miss Thompson on her going asked where she was that I might call she said with Lord and Lady Lonsdale that this business about the King would of course hurry them off and that she had no time for civilities I very calmly said oh I shall have the pleasure of meeting you somewhere else it was foolish in me to offer to call take a lesson from this and be very backward in such cases at first I really did not recollect her but
On explaining who she was (Miss Thompson) said I recollected her dancing and that she was very musical to which last she assented – but took no such notice of the former – in fact, on recollection, she danced ridiculously, affectedly, and was stared at and quizzed for it – stayed after all but Lady Eastnor and Lady Charlotte Lindsay and the Berrys to talk to Lady Stuart de Rothesay about our journey – shall hardly (they all think) get off to the Pyrenees, but Lady Stuart de Rothesay agreed we might talk simply of going to Mont d’Or (the baths) and let the rest take its chance really this seems likely enough –
All went on well so far till just before coming away Lady Stuart took us in the conservatory and gave us some roses this Mr Gregory was there I asked Miss Berry if he was Gregory Williams yes on which I spoke to him said well enough I remembered the pretty green house at remstone he asked how and when I said I had passed a day or two there with the Norcliffes in returning from all seemed well enough but I had scarce got home before the folly of this recognition struck me Miss Hobart spoke of him as vulgar but he had money so he went down with Lord how stupid in me to acknowledge him so unnecessarily and did it seem odd to the party? I stood in my study musing and grieving over it how is it I always do something to regret shall I never do better? in wishing good night so often to Lady Stuart de Rothesay I one time unthinkingly held out my hand and of course we shook hands she really always does it of her own accord that I thought of this too as a folly
In speaking to Lady Isabella Blatchford of her tour along the Seine (she has taken a house at Saint Germain for a month) said she should or go on return by the Loire – she seemed to attend, and begged me to write her about it which perhaps I shall do –
The thought has always struck me she might suit me for a while I really want someone of rank –
Home at 9 40/.. stayed talking to my aunt, and had McDonald in for near 1/2 hour, talking to her about herself – she is not well – has got cold, and rheumatism in her head, and the right submaxillary gland swelled and the front 1/2 of her head hot which seemed to alarm her – went to my room at 10 1/2 – stood musing –
And regretting
Perpetual showers during the day – almost a regularly rainy day – Fahrenheit 61 at 11 p.m. –
In margin: To take Lady Eastnor and her children to the Jardin du Roi on Thursday at 12 –

1824 Mar., Mon. 8
6 55/60
11 1/4
A pretty good kiss last night – Came downstairs into the drawing room at 8 10/60 and from then to 9 3/4, and afterwards from 10 3/4 to 11 3/4, added considerably to my letters to Mrs. Best and Miss Marsh.
Wrote over again my note to Mr. D– [Duffin] and with considerable additions made a letter of it, 3 pages and the ends – Mentioned to Mr. D – [Duffin] – my father’s having made a will at my request, and left all to Marian. And mentioned also the letter I had just had from Messrs Squibb (Saville Row London) saying that “in consequence of the very great improvement in the value of landed property, we have had several applications for the purchase of estates, and we think that all the money asked could now be obtained for your father’s property at Market Weighton”
At 11 3/4 had made up and sent off by George the parcel for Mrs. Best containing my letter to herself (Hudson’s lodgings Petergate York) sent to Mr. Duffin, Miss Marsh, and Miss Henrietta Crompton (Micklegate York) – inclosed  Miss M a one pound note for Tibs syringe and mine –
Mentioned also to Mr. D– [Duffin] (as well as to Miss Henrietta C– Crompton, the meeting last Saturday fortnight of the medical gents of Liverpool (vide the Courier of Thursday last) to consider the danger to be feared of the plague being brought into this country by cotton expected from Alexandria –
Staid talking to I[sabella] N[orcliffe] – Upstairs an hour – We should have gone to Haugh End today, but the storminess of the weather prevented – At 1 (in spite of very high wind and perpetual driving showers) set off to Whitehall, thence along Bramley Lane (young Mr. Washington not yet gone to his new house there), and thence to Lightcliffe to desire Mr. W– [Washington] to come the 1st thing tomorrow morning –
Inquired at the door after the William Priestleys (Mr. Edward P– [Priestley] much as usual again) and went forwards to Northgate – Shewed them Squibb’s letter – “the estate will be better either for selling or keeping if kept a few years longer” – They do not wish to sell it now – Times are mending –
Skelfler might hereafter sell enough to pay the debt, the grange and low grange might be reserved and yield Marian a net £400 a year – This with my father’s other property would make her income about £550 per annum –
£60,000 advertized in the last Yorkshire Gazette to be lent at four percent Monday. May soon be had at 3 1/3 hour continued etc. etc. In short, my father and Marian are in good spirits; for there seems a better prospect of getting the rents regularly –
Got home at 3 50/60 – The wind wind very high as I returned (luckily at my back) or the snow storm that caught me would have been almost as bad as on Wednesday – Sat down to dinner at 4 1/4 – Went to I[sabella N[orcliffe] – From 6 40.60 to 8 55/60 translated chapters 47, 47, 48 and wrote out the 2 first of these libro 1 Thucydides Latin.
Down to coffee at 8 – Afterwards (in the drawing room) wrote all the above of today – Went upstairs at 9 55/60, at which hour Barometer 7 degrees below changeable, Fahrenheit 40°.
Very windy, wild, rainy morning (vide lines 13, 23). A hail shower during dinner – The wind still high – E [three dots] O [no dots, marking discharge from venereal complaint] –
