Literally my one and only long post on TTEOTM ending:

Luo Yunxi and Bai Lu really gave stellar performances if they don’t win every award out there especially for Luo Yunxi who played every single nuanced version of sad, depressed, happy, sinister, vengeful, longing, pining and devotion out there like who else could?!

Also like the ending really left big question marks on Ye Qingyu and GYJW and YBC demon you know like???

BE or OE or HE and does it matter?

Yes appreciating BEs is one thing and BEs are certainly great for certain plots and shows, BUT-

We’ve seen this BE in xianxia and sometimes wuxia/historical as if writers are dumping set BEs in just for fun, it’s almost always the same formula and not every show requires the same treatment? At this point we’re all certain none of the xianxias maybe a bit of the wuxia/historical too are going to end well (Immortal Samsara, Novoland, One and Only although I’d say O&O was perhaps deserved) or we get OEs (Winner is Love, LYX’s previous xianxia), or we get the split-second HEs (omg where do I begin, Eternal Love, CLJ, Pillow Book, The Blue Whisper, omg the list goes on) - I’m almost expecting either full BE or the guy to die and then turn up when the female lead turns around on a street or at home or whatever hundreds of years later cuz he comes back but you may or may not see him on screen

TTJ for one, based on his character and personality, was trying so hard to make things work, to give and give and give to the people he loved and the people who gave to him - sure, the writer wrote it as a BE and i respect that, but they also wrote the HE i.e. it’s canon, and the show not giving us that for whatever reason is depressing because the moral of the story is TTJ suffered so fucking much and led such a tired life just for a few happy moments and still was the sacrificial lamb. Yes he was happy too or whatever, he understood the circumstances, but is it so hard to give the canon HE ending to it and giving him the ending he truly deserves for all that he’s done?!

Also it was a strangely cut ending for a BE/OE whatever that was, like three stitched frames that faded out into each other, like I don’t know what the editors were doing but oomph an undeserved ending is one thing, and undeserved AND weirdly cut ending is another thing

And yeah if we read it as him being in the clam then yes it’s a mild HE but leaning towards an OE, and if we count the audio drama snippet sure HE, but no that don’t count!!!!

I feel pretty calm after the initial confusion since we already knew it was likely going to be BE BUT this calm is at the expense of watching TTJ suffer 10,000 times in the past 40 episodes we’ve been desensitized for the last death like don’t tell me yall aren’t tired of this show as much as you love it I AM EXHAUSTED MENTALLY - the “ok” i feel probably isn’t because it’s really ok because if we chose, we’d probably think he deserves his rest and happiness after 500+ years of suffering with happy days he can probably count on one hand

your opinion on the viscount who loved me is really interesting bc i remember people acting like it was one of the best books, but to me, francesca’s is number one then benedict’s. they were acting like benedict had the worst book ever bc of the mistress quote lol. it’s also really interesting bc they were acting like kate was the best female character and i would argue that’s sophie. the way benedict’s book has been perceived is really interesting because i’m confused on what these people were reading…

Honestly people trashing AFOAG and saying that Sophie has the “worst arc” out of all of the Bridgerton wives is the only reason why I read the book.

It’s also the only reason why I read RMB and OTWTTW. As soon as I heard about that casting call, I wanted to make sure that a Black girl wasn’t getting the short end of the stick and being stuck with the most tragic character who ever was written.

I was right.

I know objectively what Benedict does isn’t all the way right. Asking a woman to be your mistress because you are waiting for some phantom woman to appear or because she is not from your class is not okay. Continuing to pursue her despite her telling you she will not be your mistress is definitely not okay.

However, the man does apologize for his transgressions. He admits he was wrong and knows he screwed up royally(none of the other knuckled headed Bridgerton bros do so). He gets over himself and he puts Sophie first and he marries her. He doesn’t care about the ton or connections or money. He cared for her. He always loved her.

There wasn’t anybody else for him except Sophie(and vice versa because Sophie saw him in ways others, even his family didn’t).

Do people acknowledge that?

Nope.

You’d think he was satan himself with the way certain people go on. When in reality he’s just your average Bridgerton man and they, including Gregory cause the Hermione situation was an absolute mess, are incredibly flawed men.

I don’t know if people act the way they do over TVWLM because of show!Kanthony, but the book itself is questionable.

Yes the Edwina plot isn’t dragged out like in the show that, but Anthony is a sleaze(and low key abusive since he’s out there kicking women) and Kate is not my favorite Bridgerton wife by a long shot(as soon as a man kicked me that would’ve been it cause he no longer would’ve had a leg to kick me with ☺️).

I actually like book!Penelope more than I do book!Kate, and yeah I may be biased, but Sophie is the best character in the whole series. She goes through a lot, but she has so much depth to her character.

Benedict is messy, but he’s charming and his persistence if not admirable is something.

Anthony isn’t the worst Bridgerton man(for me it’s Colin who has committed the crime of being a whiny boy), but he is not topping any Bridgerton lists either.

No, but one of my favorite things about Colin in RMB is that he never makes the same mistake twice. When he kisses Penelope and then bails, he knows he's probably left her confused and he instantly regrets it. Then the next time they're alone in a drawing room, he makes his intentions clear.

And I love, love. love, that show!Colin fooled Will and the audience into thinking he was being naive and having one pulled over on him again, only to completely change the game when he snatched the necklace off of Cressida.

My boy got character development!!! I'm so happy because my expectations for Colin were pretty low going into this season. Don't get me wrong, he's still got a looooooooong way to go. I'm not ready to talk about that moment yet. And his faith in Lady F is truly astounding, but I think that will lead to some good payoff down the line!

point being, andrew liked to talk. he loved talking and sometimes would worry that he would never find anyone who would like to debate and talk as much as he did. until you.

also i was rereading RMB because why not, and i do wish they'd kept felicity in the show, she's such a fun character. my favourite is obviously the one colin goes to ask her hand and everyone's confused (and mean) but felicity just Knows and she's having so much fun giggling at penelope xD

And I think in that scene Benedict was a little too distracted by Sophie to realize he was being rejected by Penelope lol, but you are right, his expression is going to be epic

Felicity could still make an appearance in S2, maybe not as a sister but as a niece or a cousin. I think the reason she didn't show up in S1 is because Felicity was supposed to be contemporary with Hyacinth. Which means that during Daphne's first season Felicity too must have been a little girl. (Even if that's the whole point of Colin never thinking about Felicity as a romantic partner ever.)

Including Felicity in S1 would mean that there would be another little girl running around in the Featherington house. Which would probably have taken the whole Marina and Penelope's storyline in a different direction because a household with children present is very different than a household with just teenagers and adults.

Felicity Featherington is a joy and a Polin shipper. So I hope the show finds a way to include her in S2

+ RIGHT. i’ve said this before, but until the last tournament, arata always felt like a distant goal that, once met, you wouldn’t rlly know what to do with it? almost god-like through chihaya’s eyes. for me, his relationships with other ppl like the meijin, shinobu, or taichi stood out more than his relationship with her (don’t get me wrong tho: though they are dear friends ☝🏻 bosom friends!). i get why arata would be a good pick in ppl’s eyes, but i never understood why taichi is still discredited beyond the initial rejection 😭 the symbolism and the spreads (esp in the past… ten?) are THERE

How do you think Netflix will handle the timeline for the rest of the books? Considering some events and books happen concurrently like Francesca and Michael get married just after Colin and Penelope. It’ll get all confusing surely if it’s done isolated so do you think they’ll do hints here and there in different seasons?

Hi @seaweedbrainavenger! I definitely think there will be hints in different seasons for sure. We got excellent hints with the bee, the mallet, the tulips in S1 for Kate and Anthony and Benedict even for S3 talking about the working class! I absolutely love when shows do that and I was so excited when I watched it again and understood what the hints meant as I had watched the show before I read the books. When it ended like a bee I was like okay? and then I read TVWLM and I SCREAMED when I finally understood all the hints. 

I think we'll know after season 2 whether they plan to do the rest of the books as they renewed immediately after S1 for 3 more seasons which is big for Netflix. As for the timeline, I can’t see them diverting from the books. There really isn’t a reason to, it would just throw off everyone’s age, when each story takes place and all the children’s ages as well. They’ll have to do the big time jump for Penelope and then Eloise’s book as well as being potential spinsters is a big part of Penelope and Eloise’s plots as well and that would only make sense if they’re older. Also John dies during those years and it would throw off Francesca’s plot and mourning period as well if they change it. I just think it would be too much hassle to change it. 

S3 will be the first big time skip of 2 years between the ball and Benedict and Sophie meeting again so that’s the first one we’ll see. They could possibly cut that shorter but that would ruin Francesca and John’s wedding so I just couldn’t see them changing the timeline at all. 

 They did a great with casting as the actors they’ve cast actors that are all look so young (Like Nicola and Claudia are in their 30s and P&E married at 28 so they’ll be absolutely fine when shooting their seasons) so they’ll look fine for their age when their season comes. Luke Newton is 28 as well so he’ll be the perfect age for Colin when he gets married. We’ll get S2 in 2022, S3 in 2023 and S4 in 2024 give or take a year or so for S2 &S3 so their ages should be fine. I could see them re-casting Hyacinth and Gregory possibly but as far as Eloise and Francesca’s books, the ages won’t be a problem. 

Yes big events coincide!  Eloise, Colin and Francesca all get married in 1824. This is where it gets tricky as S3 ends in 1817 and John dies in 1820. S4 is going to have to start with 1820 or some type of reference to John’s death and maybe even an episode with Francesca in her mourning period before they do a time skip to 1824 when RMB begins. We’ll possibly get an introduction to Michael in S3 or S4 that will lead to the main events of WHWW in S5. Colin and Penelope are too big of a couple to share a season with another couple, I’d be very surprised if they did Francesca and Michael at the same time as them in S4 even though the timelines do align. They’re already building them up so much everyone will be dying for a season full of them and they’re too big of a couple to share the spotlight. Especially with the Lady Whistledown reveal, there would be too much going on if they focused on F&M as well. 

Unless they make them a sub-plot like Anthony and Sienna or something? I’d be shocked and very disappointed in that as Michael Stirling is going to be such a good character and I loved their book!

I think we could get a combination of Eloise and Francesca’s seasons into the fifth season as they both happen outside of London and it would be easier to tell two completely different stories in Scotland and outside of London (can’t remember where Philip lives). Imagine if they made more episodes to fit it in? It would only work with their stories, not with Hyacinth and Gregory. 

 I’m not sure about Hyacinth and Gregory’s seasons, I think if they cast Gareth well, he could be v popular like Rege but it’s kind of a weaker book as not too much goes on but I LOVED them as a couple and Gregory’s book would be good for tv as there’s a lot going on in his book, even if I wasn’t overly mad about it. Bridgerton has such a long production and post-production process that they also need to be careful about the actors ages as. They'll be okay age wise for Claudia and Nicola as Pen and Eloise are meant to be 28 but they both look so young and the men all look fairly young for their 30s so age and looks won’t be a problem! 

I could be really over complicating things as Shonaland goes on forever with their shows (I’ve been watching Grey’s Anatomy forever and they’re still somehow going) and since Bridgerton is so successful and that success will continue to grow, 8 seasons is reasonable to expect! I just think it will be tricky when it comes to S4, 5 and 6 as they’re all happening at the same time and that could be confusing to the majority of viewers who haven’t read the books. I’m sure though the talented writers and producers will be able to navigate it and figure it out!

The Break Up Blog - Day Twenty

It just dawned on me that I’ve been using so many pseudonyms to describe real people in my blog entries. It might be useful to make a note of the principal characters so I don’t mix anyone up:

 X = the current ex

C = my friend and colleague

CI = my colleague

G = my older sister

P = my younger brother

H = my manager/supervisor

SH = friend and colleague

K = my oldest friend from high school

 Ok, now I can stop confusing myself over who’s who. 

My eyes feel very heavy today.

I don’t know if it’s because I’m actively trying to drink less coffee. I did feel really drowsy yesterday after falling asleep past midnight and waking up close to 09:00. My experimenting with sleeping on my back instead of my side isn’t working so far. I guess I’ve gotten too used to cuddling with Teddy on my side every night. Maybe I’ll feel lonelier if I have nothing or no one to cuddle with anymore?

I had another busy day of putting aside rent money for the month, buying groceries and getting my hair done at the salon. It’s been raining hard all day, so the traffic was atrocious on the road. The rain ruined what little styling I got done at the salon; at least my hair is clean.

Then I went to meet my friend KG and we ate lunch at a Mexican restaurant. It was a bit far from my home, but since I still have a little cash left from my pay cheque, I figured there was no harm in stretching my legs and spending time outside of my apartment. KG and I talked about our mutual dissatisfaction with work, her love of teaching students how to speak Mandarin and about her on-and-off-again boyfriend. She loaned money to him recently so he can apply for his Chinese work visa.

The idea of KG giving her boyfriend thousands of RMB triggered my suspicion right away. And it’s all because of what X did to me. I don’t want to be the kind of person who projects all of their hang-ups about relationships onto their friends and family. But I definitely don’t want to see anyone else get used and exploited the way I did with X either. So I said my piece to KG in what I hoped was a respectful way. Hopefully, her boyfriend will turn out to be someone who is worthy of her love and trust.

I finally made it back home and I figured I would type up this blog entry before I head out again. I still have to return that digital bracelet to the bar I went to on Thursday and I have some packages to pick up at work. It’s a lot to do, but maybe it’s better to do it while I still have the energy and patience to do it. And after that, just maybe I’ll relax and get ready for work tomorrow.

I haven’t prepped anything for my fourth grade class yet. I figured I’d play a few games with my students to give them a break from all the textbook work I made them do on Friday. Still, doing their writing actually helped them to calm down a bit and behave better, save for SB. I wouldn’t say that I hate him, but there isn’t a single fibre in my body that actually likes him. I really can’t make any sense of modern child-rearing and if any actually goes into having children and helping them grow up. I miss the good old days when you could hit a naughty child and not get into trouble with their parents or the authorities. Maybe if you could literally knock some sense into shitty people and shitty children, they might actually stop being so shitty.

I hope I can manage my finances a bit better this month. I’ve bought most of the things I want and need; now I just have to get through the rest of the month. Each day gets easier than the next and I almost feel hopeful that I’ll make a full recovery from the psychological warfare that X wrought on my frazzled senses. It’s nice being able to meet up with my friends and feel like a normal person who isn’t bogged down with depression and uncertainty about their future. KI said that I should find myself a nice man instead who will love me and take care of me. As tempting as that would be, I don’t want to pursue anything romantic with anyone, man or woman, for a while. I think that this should be my time to figure myself out minus the distraction of a romantic relationship. I haven’t properly thought of my own wants and needs in three years; I owe myself at least a little time to be selfish and make my own mistakes.

I still think that I should try to set up a Skype session with my therapist back home and hash out all these things I’m feeling. But I don’t want to go too crazy with spending my money, so I’ll try to pace myself for the next few weeks. My dad’s birthday is coming up this week and I still need to find him a nice present. I’ve been slacking off with messaging my friends and family back home on a consistent basis this past week. I guess I just wanted a little time to myself that didn’t involve me reassuring everyone that I’m ok and not breaking into a million pieces over X.

I wish I didn’t have to leave my apartment again; my head is throbbing and I’m feeling sleepy. But that bar is moving to a new location soon and I’m not sure where the new location will be. Plus, one of my packages is frozen vegetables, so I hope that the security guards at my school had the good sense to leave it in the fridge for now.

I’m gonna try not to stress about my lesson plans for tomorrow. If nothing else, there are still a few textbook pages left to do before my students do their first big writing test next week. I don’t have the luxury of time to worry about trivial things anymore. My Chinese drama got cute and fluffy again, which cheered me up. Maybe I’ll watch some more of it when I get home later.

Just maybe, everything’s going to be ok again.

okay first things first, this episode was fucking INTENSE like usually i’m laughing out loud and everything but today i was more or less silent even during the romantic scenes between jack and zhao zi - those were cute don’t get me wrong but there’s the underlying shady thing that jack is doing - in any case, you guys will both love and hate today’s episode, and if you wanna turn back now and wait for subs etc. to come out, this is the point to do it, otherwise: SUMMARY TIME BELOW!!

CWH + TY/SF confrontation aftermath

we start off first with the scene in the preview, where TY is facing SF while SF explains that LZ is his mother, and CWH, who’s standing a little bit further away with his back faced to them 

also: thank you line tv, for making hong ye totally disappear without you know, letting us know what happened to TY’S PRECIOUS SISTER WHO GOT KIDNAPPED YOU KNOW?! she literally just disappeared - what happened? where’s dao yi? did CWH get his lackeys to send her home by curfew? you know?!!!!

back to the scene - TY is catatonic and just staring angrily into the distance, and CWH is all: “you must be wrong, you must be lying to me, LZ wouldn’t have lied to me”

flashback to the prison visit by LZ and TGD - TGD turns up to visit CWH and CWH looks to be badly beaten up, and TGD obviously looks very guilty but trying to be smiley, he tells CWH that he cooked some of CWH’s fave dishes and brought it for him today and CWH is obviously pretty mad as he accuses TGD of getting the other prisoners inside the prison to beat him up - TGD tells him to calm down but doesn’t have a chance to explain himself, and one can probably understand CWH because i think he wasn’t expecting to be in prison for so long, and he asks TGD when he’s going to get him out, but TGD says that the other gang, Si He Hui, has a hit on him and it’s safer for him to be in prison, and CWH gets mad and yells: “you’re the damn boss of xing tian meng, don’t fucking tell me you have no way to get me out!” basically

that’s when TGD reveals that he brought LZ with him, and rmb that CWH when he decided to take the rap for TGD and go to jail in his stead, he told TGD to take care of LZ and not let him know where he is? WELL THAT DIDN’T HAPPEN OBVIOUSLY - CWH begs for forgiveness from LZ, saying that he didn’t mean to lie to her etc.... and LZ asks: “how could you lie to me?”

and then she says: “i’m pregnant”, and CWH is so happy, and then he looks to TGD who looks back at him with a smile and approving nod - and like 10 seconds later, LZ says: “i went for an abortion, you and i are from different worlds we can’t be together, it’s over”

then CWH goes ballistic and even TGD looks a bit confused and stunned, and LZ walks off and outside the prison she sobs and cries, while TGD is looking at CWH yelling and being dragged off

comment - srsly?!!! so many loopholes that are with this scene srsly

back to the present: TY thinks that SF is lying to him and that even if it was true this changes nothing - he still killed TGD, and he knows this because CWH was actually the one to shoot TY and he remembers it

TY back on that day, he heard two gunshots while he was waiting for TGD, and when he ran up the stairs, he saw TGD and LZ dead already on the ground and TGD holding a gun, and when he yelled for TGD, CWH shot him

CWH says he really wanted to kill them, but before he could do anything, he heard the gunshot, and the first thing he did was call out for LZ and run over to them both and they were alr dead

TY doesn’t believe him and now pulls a gun on CWH, and SF is so desperately holding onto him and trying to stop him - he reasons that if CWH really was the killer, then why would he be standing here like this? SF: “finding the real killer is more important than you venting your anger like this, right?”

so TY runs off, and SF calls TY a gazillion times but TY doesn’t stop and heads straight for the car - SF catches up to him outside of the car but TY pushes him back and shouts: “why are you doing this to me?!”

heart. break.

he gets into the car and drives off, locking SF out of the car (and this is really inappropriate but i wondered - this remote abandoned place does grab or uber or lyft even reach this area for SF to go home you know)

SF+TY - In the house scene where we hoped we’d get bed scene but...

and SF obviously managed to get a ride somehow because he turns up at TY’s house, yelling for him from downstairs and he finds him curled up in the bathtub

they struggle because TY is obviously mad at SF for doing this and he wants to be alone and the truth is hard to bear and he’s trying to get out of SF’s grasp but SF is holding really damn tight and refuses to let him go, he back hugs him and tells him: “shhh... it’s okay, i know how you feel, i really do” and he tries to calm him down, which TY does for a moment, but he struggles again, and SF kisses him to calm him down, and then TY gets on with the program and starts kissing back desperately, and SF is telling him not to do this to himself as TY kisses his way down SF’s body - and then he kisses SF on the lips again, and then he just... stops

and TY goes back to crying on the floor, falling to his knees against the bed as SF holds him

HEART. BREAK. FUCKING HEART BREAK.

Jack + Interpol Chief

jack passes interpol chief a thumb drive containing xing tian meng’s information and details and says that since this mission is done, they should move on to the next one, i.e. dismantling CWH’s drug network

interpol chief says that CWH’s network in cambodia is difficult to dismantle and at this point i think interpol chief is shady as hell and jack seems to be talking in rounds to him, i really don’t believe jack betrayed XTM and TY

and then jack says that now they can, because CWH just invited him into his group and he’ll take the job, and interpol chief and jack shake hands on it

so we get confirmation: jack is NOT a police officer, he’s a mercenary for hire and interpol paid him handsomely for this ‘job’ with XTM and TY in a sense

Zhao Zi + Jack

zhao zi goes home and sees jack’s motorcycle at his door but no jack in sign, and he looks so confused, and then jack was actually crouching behind the gate and pops up and says hi

ZHAO ZI’S face LIGHTS THE FUCK UP and he goes up to jack with his umbrella and im gonna gif this in detail don’t worry, so i won’t say too much here, but anyway he lets jack into the house and jack cooks for zhao zi

and yes, that preview scene happens here, and zhao zi doesn’t really give him an answer until when they’re inside

anw zhao zi more or less tells jack that ever since his grandma died, no one is waiting for him at home and when jack turned up earlier, he felt so touched that someone was waiting for him to come home

yeah, so they’re in bed naked and okay i’m gonna do a separate post on this about what i think - in any case, yes, no bed scene, and SF and TY are awake, and SF leans over to hug TY

so yes, this happens - i have to say i totally called this, because it really does fit his character, that he would be overridden with guilt and that’ll make him turn himself in 

the scene with his daughter and the daughter’s fiance was really sweet i think, and it really reflected the dilemma and conflict captain shi has with this entire thing, and @ctl-yuejie mentions this to me as well and i agree, and that is that i wish he would’ve thought about SF as well? because SF... i feel like he treats chief as his dad almost and chief dotes on him a lot

so yes, he also emo walks to the police station and oh god okay i really gotta say, i almost cried - chief you’re damn good

and the next day, jun wei runs into the office calling for zhao zi, and says: “shit’s happened, chief turned himself in!!!”

everyone: “WTF?!” except ah zhi, who literally packs up and leaves

Domestic TY and SF

SF comes downstairs in the morning and handsome TY has cooked breakfast for him, and SF looks cautious and apprehensive, but TY has obviously decided not to think about ytd’s whatever, and just insists on SF eating breakfast with him

totally NOT a healthy coping mechanism but what can they do? anw SF sits down to eat, and then he’s trying to convince TY to not go for revenge on his own and to pass the person to the police, and TY, cryptic, says: “you investigate on your side. i’ll investigate on my side”

and then jack comes in and says they’ve caught He Hang, the asshole dude from the episode before, and SF is all: “tang yi, no, you can’t-”

and tang yi compromises more or less on this at least: “once i’m done with him, i’ll pass him to you, promise.”

and then SF acquiesces for a moment, that is until his phone rings and he picks it up and goes: “what are you saying? chief has been arrested for dealing drugs?!”

tang yi looks up. THE END.

and you can feel the stress and tension and the foreboding sense from this interaction and i hope this does not mean anything bad for our beloved TY and SF!!!! in any case... we’ll probably get jack x zz tomorrow IF LINE TV DOESN’T CUT IT OUT YOU KNOW?!!!! and yeah SF gets shot tmr - we see shots of him in that baseball jacket in three scenes currently: a scene with zhao zi where he’s investigating something, another scene where SF’s in a restaurant/cafe and finally the shooting scene

very likely ah zhi is discovered as the culprit tomorrow - although my theory is that interpol chief is in on it as well!!! it’d make sense because now if u think about it, if CWH didn’t pay police chief off, then who did? it has to be someone higher than him in position and interpol chief has a standard bad guy vibe, and this would mean that jack is moving interpol chief into a trap as well!!!! LOVE IT

this was a frickin good episode i think. thank god it was 30 min. any shorter again i would have rioted. but all remains to be seen for tmr!!!!

you might think im abt to impose another stupid “lOOK HOW SIMILAR” statement but im doing this to illustrate just how different (surprise!) the protags of knb and rxl are today

to first brief over robo’s personality

stupidly honest, annoyingly methodical, straight-laced, can never take a hint, always unimpressed and expressionless: that’s how robo was introduced to us and that’s how he acts in reality, but alr the danger of falling under a subconscious impression is present not even 5 pages past the pilot chap

i could tackle each of his traits as more examples turn up in the future (as long as robo continues acting like himself these examples will turn up - eventually - whether we like it or not) but i’ll just take “can never take a hint” at random: it’s not bc he’s incapable of processing the atmosphere that he ends up never taking a hint. these traits are the result of his actions rather than a cause so as such, you could even apply a clear logic on the process that leads to him being “stupidly honest” or “always unimpressed” and/or some of his other traits that are, i think tragically, the only things to appear in public view in the end

he “can never take a hint” because -> robo isn’t somebody who wld conform to social norms. you can flip the order if you find this confusing: there are ppl who cld be desperate to conform to social norms but genuinely lack the ability to pick up on cues and hints while in the case of robo, he’s adequately aware of these stuff like your average person

what isn’t average is his mindset and not his instinctual reception. we’ve seen it many times in fact in just the course of 8 chaps? reviewing their situation word by word when tomoya dragged him along to test his new club might (sadly to a superficial glance) have made robo appear stunted when he simply happens to be the owner of a very lucid and invigorative mind? bc “methodical” happens to be the way he works as a person - which is why he voices it out and works the problem as a series of steps, but when you see him saying stuff like these

i dont get how anybody can continue to think he’s unable to get social cues. he continues to break them due to a raw ferocity in his unrelenting attitude and not bc he doesn’t truly understand what it signifies. or do you assume robo’s thinking something as idiotically basic as “i’ll just apologize first?”

well that’s the thing, given his traits it’s ridiculously easy to join it up like that saying robo’s “a weird kid” or “means no harm” when that cldn’t be further frm who he is: he’s one grounded and incredibly logical kid who isn’t as removed frm social cues as his enigma might have you think. give him 2 lifetimes and he’ll still never be somebody who “accidentally caused harm,” robo is no scatterbrain

that doesn’t mean he’s causing harm on purpose, or causing harm period. he’s too busy burning himself with his own ferocity which, coincidentally, is one of the furthest points that sets him apart frm kuroko

so ye let’s get this essay on the road

in both stories and at least of what i’ve seen in rxl so far, it’s a fact that the protags are occupied with a single, major task - but robo and kuroko are occupied with vastly diff tasks

kuroko has never been abt self-upgrade. kuroko is not a person whose story wld ever be concerned with re-evaluations, painful metamorphoses or discoveries of “who am i” - knb was a huge, huge story delivered just for kuroko’s ideals. and get this, he doesn’t own the ideals. the ideals own him.

that’s how he is as a person and that’s completely ok but it’s thanks to this - the layout of the story or otherwise - that funnily i don’t think the narratives were blatant and introductory enough with kuroko’s character as a person (for ppl to pick up frm the get go)

up till this day i hesitate to call him “kind” bc these are his concepts and ideals you’re seeing. it’s not “kindness” as a force in itself and, while im mostly neutral and even like kuroko (not slandering him just so you know), i’ll never hesitate to serve the reminder that “yes he did use kagami knowingly” or that he often, literally, is unable to see or think anything else if his ideals have been impeached. it’s not egocentric either (fujimakki’s characs are forever complex and i love it sfm) kuroko is whole-hearted and void of his own person when it comes to these ideals. or you cld say his person is those ideals.

so when ppl end up calling him “crazy/amazingly devoted” or “goes to insurmountable lengths for his friends” im like “...that’s not wrong” but it’s probably not the intended meaning most ppl have either. like i said fujimakki’s characs are complex and you often, if not always, can never take what you see for their surface value. nothing is as simple as that in sensei’s stories.

none of their personalities have been touched out in the open in knb believe it or not. it’s there when you wanna think abt who each of them are as a person but with the basketball plot gliding us over, who’s got time or the immediate interest for that ey? the intensity of the matches are fucking electrifying, you’ve got focused and determined players to watch and all is good -- but matches are just one part of the players who only assume their form as players when they step on the court

a human being is really complex and made of many infinitely smaller layers

and kuroko? i’ll break it down for you

idk abt kind but he is indeed warm

now here’s an impt one: he’s full of energy

it’s his body that can’t keep up, not him

i think you can see he’s having fun: he runs and trains on the court with the mindset that he’s a very regular guy with a very regular stamina despite his (lack of) strength which is why he pukes and hacks and faints so often

and he just lets it come like some fucking joker

idk he’s just so full of energy this little fucker

it’s like this: he doesn’t actively go against the fact that his body is feeble and flimsy

but he’s so idgaf and comfortably spirited that he probably thinks it’s funny when his body does stop listening (which is every time)

and since he’s well-aware his condition is like that anyway he’s just gonna train like a regular person and listen to his body when it comes (read: collapses)

which is why he can puke, and puke so blatantly well

he’s not resisting anything be it the exhaustion that saps his body of what remaining strength it has, or the tired condition of his body

he embraces it all amazingly well imo, while it’s unfortunate for ppl like momoi who wld worry for him

but i also think this is another great attitude just as is kasamatsu-senpai’s methodology (taking impressive, measured care)

since measured care isn’t for everybody tbfh, likewise with kuroko’s method: tailoring each to their own is still the fucking best

i think enough on kuroko i like robo more than him i shld be moving on

he’s serious

like... god honest he’s a serious kid. ppl say these protags are similar in their dead fish eyes and general taciturn attitude but kuroko is the way he is bc he likes the idea of relaxed and you wont ever catch him being uptight or having exaggerated responses to things the way kagami or hyuuga or aomine do (tho expressive responses is actually the norm for ppl lol)

it’s kuroko’s way of life, having a more relaxed attitude than most, why else wld he find kagami’s responses entertaining if he didn’t understand what made it funny? (dont go there you know this fucker is having fun at kagamin’s expense)

while in robo’s case it’s hardly “relaxed anything” and he genuinely wldn’t find what tickles kuroko’s bone to be funny. he’s a serious kid omg and im even glad we’re having a serious protag (for no reason other than me being a sucker for them). robo’s taciturn attitude is a direct result of his seriousness

@ the size of kagamin’s apmt he says it with a straight face and actually means it

none of that “im secretly being a joker” (which makes him god tier imo) bc rmb what i said abt this idiot having a temper

lesser characs in other series, when given a line like kuroko’s, are kind-hearted, mean absolutely no harm with their words and are playing around with whoever they says this to but kuroko, along with his “im gonna get angry” when kagamin didn’t exactly startle him shows that he has a actual personality that is as complex as any other human (not what i wanted to point out but since im on it)

some might say it’s just kuroko not being as kind-hearted as others but i appreciate that he’s complex and not all “friends and friends we have a good time and we hold hands” despite what ppl might say of seirin

but yes that’s not the point i wanted to talk abt the humor

tho he’s not being a joker in this scene like he is when he chases kagamin with nigou that’s an very obvious sense of humor in his statement (no matter how wry)

the 2nd example cldn’t be more obvious? in knb kagamin doesn’t even do anything to incite kuroko’s biting remarks (is it his fault that his apmt is huge? really? the guy wasn’t even flaunting but kuroko tsukkomis due to his sense of humor anyway. does he really feel that mad that kagamin’s got such a spacious living space or that kagamin is living so comfortably bc he can be seriously evil towards the guy even if it fuels my kgkr needs horribly)

(no, for the record it’s not your everyday “i tease you bc i like you,” kuroko means it. he motherfucking means it bc why else wld i had felt slightly uncomfy for reasons i cldn’t explain when i witnessed the way he tortures kagamin)

tomoya cldn’t incite anything better in his entire presence but i feel like robo, rather politely, closes it down like a sane person every time. bc he doesn’t feel any malicious intent towards tomoya and they’re actually getting along as friends despite what you may see as a simple comedy scene bc it’s how they operate/spend time tgt/get to know and understand with their differences

i feel like this single “tomoya, i told you to stop it” with the severely exaggerated way tomo is acting is...... the very essence of robo on display for the audience. robo is serious as in his innate attitude and responses to things, not that austere is the manner in which he conducts his life

proof: he went to fucking karaoke instead of declining? break down of robo cuz im getting tired

it was when i first discovered ‘bannedstory’ a free program for maple sprites. (kind of like mmd. free program but drawn models lolz) . 

so i played around with the program ; 

my first YT channel , where i uploaded almost everything i did with bannedstory and some other program i forgot . I used to be really desperate for subscribers too. not anymore. IDGAF ABOUT THE NUMBERS ANYMORE LOLZ. itz just numbers. 

i watched other users’ ms videos , i also discovered a paid program ‘ sony vegas‘ but since i couldnt afford it ( i was really young and naive ) //i’m still am// ^^;; //illegal// 

i played around with sony vegas, AND HOLY SHIT. sony vegas is such a COOL PROGRAM WITH ALL THE AMAZING EFFECTS & TRANSITIONS ! but it is a paid program . the full version is really expensive . 

in 2008 ~ 2009 

(dont rmb exactly when since it’s long ago) , i received many negative remarks , comments , criticisms . i was so affected by it that i deleted everything + my first youtube channel . i think it was my very first ? i upload almost everything i did with ms bannedstory there. i deleted that channel. i forgot the reason why i deleted it , since it is so long ago . but i dont think i regret it. a little part of me regretted it, cause i couldn’t see what my younger version of me did. :x

I began to overthink .why does she hate me ? am i a bad person ? did i do something wrong ? is it because of how i treat others ? how i treat my … friend ? i was mean ? i was being rude ? im useless ? im a burden ? how weird i am ? …  She was the first person who made the first move to talked to me in school . i guess i kind of like her , as a friend . she meant a lot to me . She is the first person who tried to be my friend during my school days , while the rest do not give a fuck and gave me ‘ i do not like you ‘ face , even their body language says it . i got kind of attached and used to her presence , because i’m not used to making the first move to talk to people , being around with people , hanging out with people in school . i’m kind of a loner . im kind of anti-social & sort of … shy . i have different personalities. i act differently in different situations.

When she said she hated me last year , she abandoned me . She started hanging out with my other classmate . And everytime she saw me  or when im close to her , she always make an excuse for me to stay away from her , and then gave me a blackface or that ‘ i do not like you ‘ look . hahaha

I guess there is a first for everything . I do not know how it feels having someone who did all these for me . itz a new experience for me . i feel lost ;; i do not know what this feeling was … 

i started playing an online game ‘ auditionsea ‘ in late 2010 , but got more focused & addicted in mid 2011 . 

I tried releasing my stress and emotional pain by playing auditionsea, because i do not know what i am feeling . I feel empty , hollow inside . i do not know what this feeling is. i feel … lost .It did not really work but it did pass the time . 

i also overthink a lot .  i kept thinking and thinking . i overthink so much that it fucked me up . i became more messed up . i tried acting not myself because acting myself will make me think more , and more emotional . im kind of a emotional person , to prevent me feeling even worse . i tried acting like a different person online… but it did not work and backfired . it still messes me up .i am so damn lost . i tried to become a different person irl , it is the same result .it backfired , did not work , making me even worse . i guess being true to yourself is the best ? … “ be yourself “ . everyone is different and unique . but i tried doing all that because of overthinking . i overthink , i think a lot . F m l . 

In this year 2012 , maplesea released a new class , ‘ phantom ‘ . I saw his cinematic trailer and animation . holy shit . He is such a cool class, and he steal skills ! I stopped playing MS temporarily because that game gets boring after awhile when you completed what you want to do . I have to admit, Phantom made me install back MS and i got addicted to ms again . I really like MS storyline and lore . His individual storyline is kind of good , itz like watching an anime but you have to play the game to read the story lolz . The art is quite good , I LIKED IT !! but i took fucking 3-4 years to reach level 200, cause i stopped playing temporarily at LV 150-170 + . i do not know where to train , lost motivation and my damage is really NOOB . PLUS I AM POOR AS FUCK and NOOB AS FUCK . After phantom class , they began to release more and more class and i kind of neglected the old class which i haven’t get to 200 yet. lolz.

I guess I am meant to be alone , i do not deserve to have friends . i sorry for being such a weird person okay . i am sorry for being born this way . idk why do i exist in this world , idk why am i born with this personality . idk why am i so useless . idk why am i such a burden . why am i so useless …i’m really useless. i am meant to be a loner i guess .

In mid 2012 - late 2012

In one of my school classes , i saw my friend crying . My other classmate saw it too , and he asked her why . She said her friend // my other classmate abandon her. She left her for another friend. I feel kind of bad. i thought i could finally feel good about it , seeing that she is finally feeling what i am feeling. But i just feel… bad.  I am meant to be alone , so that means im used to being alone … I’m used to feeling lonely, but i am not used to feeling empty, hollow inside. Hahaha. fml it feels like a part of me has been ripped out and it hurts so fucking bad .

In the beginning of the year , january , my school class has new sitting arrangement for everyone . I was chosen/paired with the same classmate . Idk, she acted like nothing has happened , like she had forgotten the hatred she has for me , and started talking to me again . Friends again ? i was confused . but it was only temporary . i guess all good things do come to an end .

everything’s gone once again . i became alone once again ~ i came to a conclusion that i am meant to be alone , nobody likes me , i creep everyone out . my classmate became really close to my other friend classmate . They both are close before , but closer this year … Hahaha . i felt like i’m a replacement . spare tyre .

1. Metro – Subway

 Easily one of the most used transportation systems in China. China’s intricate subway system can be a little paralyzing for newbies unfamiliar using the European inspired system.
