Woke up and started going into character analysis mode while drinking my coffee. This is about Aizen of course.

Thinking about how much of a loose canon (and lowkey suicidal/fate-tempting) Aizen actually is. He plays it all cool, but he isn't actually always as meticulous as he comes across.

-fused himself with Hogyoku without knowing for sure it was a wish granting jewel (he just suspected). Even disregarding that, he went into battle before it even "understood" him. He had no guarantee it would actually keep him alive. He also had zero guarantee it would bring him back to life after a fatal injury. These were all just hypothetical.

-allowed White to give its powers to a Quincy because he wanted to know what would happen. Total fluke, but he went with it. Presumably, he knows that a Quincy is unlikely to survive this process.

-recruited Kaname knowing he could never control him with Hypnosis.

-risked Gin being by his side knowing he was planning his death because he wanted to "see how he would do it". He even told him how to neutralize his power. He was just like "okay kid, I like you, freebie shot at killing me," !!!. Like omg.

-risked empowering the Vasto Lordes, not knowing if they would become stronger than himself or not (they did not). He even said he suspected they would.

-decided to help Ichigo become stronger, not knowing what would happen

-risked Orihime finding someway to use her power against him (okay this has become more of a headcanon. I like to think he was curious to see if she would actually try to erase Hogyoku).

-furthermore he pits Ichigo against his Espada, not knowing who the victor will be, made 0 effort to keep Ichigo alive.

-completely went power mad and off guard after evolving. He arguably had to have some of those qualities before fusing.

-fought Yhwach with 0 guarantee of success. Put himself in extreme mortal peril to defeat him. Sure it was becoming a very "do or die" situation but it doesnt feel out of character

There's probably some more things I'm not thinking of.

I was thinking about how Aizen comes across very "a man with nothing to lose". It really matches up with who he is. He has mastered all his powers and there's nothing left because he feels no connection to those around him, no sense of purpose or love or comraderie. It must drive him insane, and make him lose some regard for his own safety, in some sense. So he decides he will keep reaching higher because what else is there. If he cannot be like anyone else, he must go above them. He thinks the current system is fuckin BS but he can't tell anyone because it's illegal to even question the status quo lol. It's almost like fate to him.

But deep down he still wants to fall, wants to fit in like Stark did, wants his own hubris to knock him down like Icarus reaching for the sun. He wants one of these gambles to catch up with him deep down. It's like a fantasy. And he knows it.

TLDR; It’s okay to ship but don’t be disrespectful towards canon ships.

Something that bugs me is I keep on seeing # AntiBleach ending.

That would be understandable if the ending was shit and Kubo just killed off everyone (I’m just making up stuff but you know what I mean).

But people are mad because Rukia married Renji, and vice versa with Ichigo and Orihime. I keep on seeing stuff like “Oh Rukia is so sad that Ichigo married Orihime”, when Rukia got married first.

I feel like most (not saying all) IchiRuki shippers use the first arc as a reason. “Like oh he likes her”, when it’s he had to make it up to her for him sharing her powers. It’s almost like a debt.

But I feel like the Hueco Mundo arc is not brought up enough. Like yeah Orihime is his friend and if your friend got kidnapped by some weirdos you would want to save them too, but obviously it’s a lot more than that. I don’t have the brain power (at the moment) to elaborate but my mind just goes to Hollow Ichigo.

I think in the end it’s about respectful of other peoples ships (as long as it’s not com/proship, because remember that most of them are high schoolers, starting from 15-and 18 in TYBW).

For me example, I don’t care for ByaHisa. I think it’s okay, because it’s canon and it does matter to the canon. Am I the biggest fan? No. But I don’t hate it. (As a kid I did but I was also really dumb and didn’t understand the nuances of it, so on behalf of 10 y/o me I’m sorry)

But when I think about why, it’s all stuff that’s happened in the past and not in the ending:

- He and Hisana will NEVER meet again, because he is going to Hell.

- They’re not supposed to have a happy ending

- Her being alive would be too complex and I get grossed out thinking about it:

• Since she is his wife, and she is also Rukia’s sister, if she was alive then would that be incest? (I know they’re not blood related but it’s like a step sibling situation) Because Byakuya is her husband (Hisana) but also Rukia’s brother and she sees him as her older brother and not as her brother-in-law. (Trust me there is a difference)

I’m going to stop here because if I continue I will fight my way into making a case for HalKuya (also HarrKuya, it used to be ByaBel but omg that was such a bad ship name).

So what did we (hopefully) learn?:

It’s okay to ship but don’t be disrespectful towards canon ships.

(unless it was really meant to show a harmful relationship, then you can say it, but in the context of BLEACH there really is none).

Orihime giggles. Ichigo looks more disgruntled. It matches perfect with the lopsided absolutely cute blue shark hat on his hair.

“I look ridiculous.” He says.

“No! you look perfect!” She disagrees. "After all, Kurosaki-kun and sharks are very alike.” He also looks a tinyyy bit ridiculous, but she won't say that.

Ichigo snorts as he takes off the hat and puts it back. A shame, really. “Because I look intimidating to people?”

“A bit of that.” She says, smiling. “But also because sharks and Kurosaki-kun are often misunderstood as scary and intimidating when they can be so cute!”

"I wouldn't say sharks are cute."

Orihime gasps. "Take that back! They so are cute!" As proof of evidence, she grabs a tiny pulshie shark off the shelf and shoves in his face. "See!"

"Yes, of course." Ichigo says, rolling his eyes. "A shark plushie designed to be cute would be cute."

"They're modeled directly from sharks!" Now, Orihime knows she's just saying anything.

Ichigo sceptically squints at the squishie. "You're telling me....sharks have... big eyes like this?"

"...They took some liberaties."

Ichigo laughs. "Alright, I'll give you that. C'mon lets go. I think its time for penguin show."

"Already?!"

"It's been an hour, Inoue.”

Time can go so fast when she's with him, she thinks.

They leave the gift shop, buying the shark hat and plushie in the end, even if Ichigo swears down he will be not wearing the hat. It's for plushie.

Orihime laughs as she nods agreeably. She thinks that the hat might be too big for the plushie, though.

This is not the first time Orihime been to an aquarium together with Ichigo, though then it wasn't really Ichigo and Orihime but their whole group. It feels different this time.

Inluding more stomach butterflies as Ichigo causually weaves their fingers together. The warmth of his hand is devilishly dangerous! To her heart!

Despite how its been a while since they've started dating, there's still a lot Orihime can't get used to. She's felt the full force of Ichigo's love but this — the echo of ichigo's love being the same as hers is completely new.

"That was so much fun!" Orihime says, after the penguin show, as they are returning back home. She leans up to him to whisper, "I think Happy Feet was my favourite."

"The one that kept tripping over himself?" Ichigo says, laughter in his voice.

"Yes! He kept messing up the routine, ahaha. I think he did on purpose — wanted to see his keepers flail around."

He snorts, as he squeezes their joined hands and tugs it into his pocket. Orihime's heart skips a beat.

”…It’s nearly dark.” Ichigo comments, out of the blue. It’s not even that close to sun down. She notices the tips of his ears have turned red.

“Do you…want to stay over?” He asks.

Oh.

She stayed over before and doubts that Ichigo means anything else by that. His family is also home! But the way he asked her — the shyness in his posture and words make her feel weak.

“I’d…like that.” Orihime says, shifting slightly closer to him.

She doesn’t want the time with him to be over yet.

Hello! I just wanted to say, I've finished part 11 of the Hidden Sky series, and have a somewhat amusing tale to tell.

I've finished it yesterday noon, and went through my updated bookmarks before bed where I read a Bleach fanfic, and somehow my brain mash both in my dreams.

It was a jumble of dimensional travel thanks to Byakuran (is he even in Hidden Sky??), Ichigo and Karakura gang going to Namimori, and then falling through a wormhole back to Karakura, feat Tsuna's various elements.

Some highlights include: Cloudy Sky Ichigo harmonizing with Xanxus, causing Tsuna to be so fed-up because now his flower-and-dots drawing dosent look symmetrical anymore; Uryuu as a Cloud, Orihime as a Sun and Chad a Rain, all harmonized to Ichigo; Bianchi/Orihime, Takeshi/Chad and Uryuu/Hibari bonding; Kisuke as Ichigo's Mist right-hand punching a hole through dimensions to get back to him because when Ichigo awakened flames so did all of Ichigo's Elements back on their dimension. I think Ichigo had around 14 of them, through dream-me came up with different people everytime I tried to count.

It also included Ichigo dragging Xanxus and Tsuna back home to present them to his sisters like a giant cat bringing dead mouses, very "see I made friends are you proud".

Genuinely interested in hearing what flame you'd peg the Karakura/Soul eaters, tbh! I'm quite sure I've read a Bleach/KHR fic from you, but I cannot remember what flame types were assigned.

Hi!!! Ok, so I just answered this. It's literally my previous post if you want the full explanation but long story made short, at this point I'd go with:

Ichigo as either Lightning or Sky, Shinji or Yoruichi as Rain, Rukia as Lightning, Kenpachi, Renji or Grimmjow as Storm, either Kisuke or Chad as Sun, Kisuke or Aizen as Mist, Byakuya or Yoruichi as Cloud.

Also, cloudy Ichigo just falling into another dimension with a feral Kisuke just ripping reality to follow gives me life. And Ichigo casually returning to his own reality so that his sister can see he's making friends he didn't even need to fight to make friends with? Omg hahaha so cute.

Ulquiorra and Orihime relationship didn't started as the cutest or nicest thing ever and i can recognize that, but i don't ship them because he kidnapped her (by Aizen's order) or for saying distateful things to Ori.

Ulquiorra it's not a human, he doesn't have moral and lives in a cruel world, which makes sense of why he's so nihilistic, Ulquiorra didn't treat her like a princess at the start and tried to break Ori spirit, but at the moment she didn't acted like anyone else he got surprised and then wanted to understand her and what she is feeling, she literally changed his world view! Only with her feelings Ori made Ulquiorra, a hollow, a "bad creature" question everything what he thought was right.

Ulquiorra not only tried to understand her, but also was slowly chaging his behaviour to her, especially after he listened to her crying because of him, he even protected Ori from Ichigo's attacks when she wasn't necessary to Aizen anymore.

That's the reason why i don't feel uncomfortable, because despite they having a rowdy start, Ulquiorra a corrupted soul was willing to understand and change for Ori. No she didn't fixed him or need to, Ori didn't forced him to anything! He did it HIMSELF! Kinda in a unconsciously way, but because of her!

The idea of this ship for me is them living a peaceful life together after his redemption, not this dark and edgy "omg he kidnapped her so s3xy!" or "he atormented her so many s#xual tension!". Especially because Nel is an example that not all hollows are bad! And a Hollow having a rendemption arc would be amazing c'mon!

I don't speak for everyone in the fandom, because people have different interpretations, but this is how i view them.

This is why they often paralled to Beauty and the Beast, a nice and kind girl changed Beast worldview and willing to change his behaviour, because of her! She didn't fixed him, he did it himself! And after he become a actually good person, he could live a wonderful life by her side.

As for your question; honestly I used to really HATE Orihime; but now I think she is fine. I don’t hate her but I don’t necessary love her either. (I’m still salty about IchiHime but that’s a rabbit hole I’d rather not get into rn LMAO)

I do think Orihime could have been really interesting and I wish she had more time to shine (besides the moments of her either gushing or crying about Ichigo lol 🙄)

But yea. Overall, I think she’s fine. She’s very cute design-wise and I see her appeal but I just think there are a lot more interesting female characters (Like Rukia, Yoruichi, etc).

I just read the latest Bleach chapter again (next chapter when?) and I think Kazui is so interesting (and adorable, love his little hoodie with his Shinigami uniform). I really want to see him interact with Aizen. I'm pretty sure Aizen would be fascinated with that kid. Kazui would end up with a super powerful Godfather bc he wouldn't be scared of Aizen or treat him like a villain. Even if he knows about everything Aizen did, Kazui would just see a lonely man like Ichigo did and just be curious about him. For fic purposes (that I wish I could write but I'm terrible with dialogue) this would lead to Kazui trying to get Ichigo and Aizen together because Ichigo and Orihime divorced a few years ago, amicably, because they realized they really had nothing in common and Orihime just saw Ichigo as her ideal High School crush. She's now with either Uryu, Tatsuki, Rukia, or Rangiku. Aizen and Ichigo also have to work together trying to solve this whole Hell business. Sparks fly and hijinks ensue. Please feel free to do something with this mess of a prompt if inspiration strikes lol.

The thing that interests me is that Aizen is, canonically, lonely... or at least Ichigo thinks Kyoka Suigetsu is, so I do agree that Kazui would totally see Aizen as a lonely old man.

I don't know if I could write it? Only because I would have to accept Ichigo as a father, but there is something really interesting in the idea of Kazui and Aizen bumming around together. I do, in fact, live for exasperated Aizen dialogue and I can only imagine there would be a lot of that with Kazui.

Kazui: Do you want to go to Hell, Mr. Aizen? You seem lonely.

Aizen: *skeptical glance at child* Lonely? What makes you say that?

Mysterylover Watches Bleach episode 355 “Hime Gets Donuts and a Tsundere”

1. We join Urahara and Ichidad as they talk about Ichigo’s future. Decide the fate of our hero, dudes. 

2. RUKIA!!!! OMG RUKIA’S BACK GUYS I DID NOT EXPECT THIS RUKIA!!!! OUR LEADING LADY SHINIGAMI HAS RETURNED

3. Back in Video Game Land Ichi’s sword gets broken and itl ooks like the bad guy’s gonna win. I’m sure that he will indeed die here and the other 400 or whatever chapters are about Ruki and Hime dueling monsters in revenge.

4. ORIHIME IS HERE!! Another leading lady arriving to help s ave the day. The villain calls her hte “healing item”, which I guess is true, though given the extent of her powers I feel like Hime can be so, so much more than that. 

5. Hime goes to heal Ichi and Chad shows up and apparently he set this up. Dude that’s the smart move should’ve done that from the beginning. But apparently he ‘didn’t want to get her involved’. Eye roll. 

6. Oh and Chad got hurt by the villain dude too. Damn he really has it out for Ichigo’s friends. I think. LOL I don’t know I’m not sure what his plan is.

7. Villain dude: What’s taking so long? Hime: DON’T RUSH MY PROCESS. Roughly paraphrased.

8. FYEAH HIME JUST OWNED THIS AHOLEWITH A NEW ATTACK SHIELD THING. OUR GIRL IS FINALLY TAKING ON ANOTHER VILLAIN!!

9. Hime’s been training her ass off it seems just in case more shinigami trouble came their way. That’s our girl. LOL Ichi did you really think you were the only one with superpowers?

10. Of  course being Hime she heals the villain too. And we get a cute IchiHIme moment where he’s grateful for her help and she smiles.

11. WE get some fun banter between Orihime and Pigtails over the intercom. I’m relieved there hasn’t been too much fighting over Ichi between these two. 

12. GIVE ORIHIME A CHAIR DAMMIT. Oh and she finally gets to eat all the donuts she wants BTW. 

13. Hime and PIgtails are eating donuts and bonding over Orihime’s backstory as she talks about how her parents were apparently abusive shits and her brother - who I still remember, BTW, more than half the random guards from last arc - saved her from them.

14. I AM SO HAPPY RIGHT NOW. And Pigtails is asking her how she’s so smiley. We’re getting honest character development here.

15. Pigtails - whose name is Riruka - is having such a moment with Hime right now. Hime is calling her a nice person and she’s blushing and baka-ing at her. Well we can now check Redhead Tsundere off of the Orihime Harem checklist. 

16. DAMN THE OTHER DUDE CUT ICHI’S FREAKING EYES OMG. THAT’S GOTTA HURT.

17. The dudes are like no hime don’t heal him let him fight without eyesight he’ll be fine manliness and all. 

18. OK THESE ASSHOLES LOCKED HIME IN A CAGE TO STOP HER FROM HEALING ICHI THEY ARE OFFICIALLY ON MY SHIT LIST.

19. We end with Ichigo having a powersplosion, a sword in the gut, and apparently reaching fullbring. Boom just like that.

Not to go on a Bleach tangent on the Naruto blog but Ichigo's thing is "I want to protect my family/friends" which I think if that's your ONLY thing it's pretty dull. Also one of the many flaws with Kubo's writing is Ichigo doesn't have much agency in the story, stuff just happens to him which isn't really a compelling route to take in a shounen manga. Something happens to one of Ichigo's friends, he reacts. And by the last arc Uyuu's gone for god knows how long before Ichigo even notices (that's hilarious though so I'll allow it).

The "saving a friend" plot works for like, an arc, and it did, the Soul Society arc, but after that you need to find something new. I think there was something there kind of in the next arc in that Ichigo kind of seemed more interested in fighting people than saving Orihime, but that is BARELY addressed and is dropped for fighting Aizen king of bullshit.

Another thing common with Ichigo is he goes into funks about not being able to protect people or not having a purpose (??? was that his issue) when he loses his Soul Reaper powers and someone else always has to get him out of it?? Once again, no agency.

AND DON'T GET ME STARTED ON THE HUMAN/SOUL REAPER/HOLLOW/FULLBRING/QUINCY THING OMG I'M SO MAD.

So, I was reading We Do (K)not Always Love You novel because I was very thirsty for Bleach content and I came across that horrifying scene where Orihime’s dinning with the Kurosaki family and suddenly there was some weird af talk about how much Orihime looked like Masaki and the twins saw her as their mother I’m just no. Hell to the FUCKING NO, bitch.

Let me begin by saying that this is an absolute disservice to Orihime. She’s INOUE ORIHIME, not Kurosaki Masaki. Second of all, Orihime is barely into her twenties in the novel. T w e n t i e s. She’s at the age of discovering herself, finding her path in the world, having fun, becoming the smart, successful career-woman she saw herself becoming by the earliest chapters of the manga. She shouldn’t be idealized as the mother of two motherfucking teenagers, and SPECIALLY SHOULDN’T BE IDEALIZED AS HER BOYFRIEND’S DEAD MOTHER!!!!!!!!!!

To be quite honest, Orihime and Masaki do have physical simmilarities. And, from a very shallow point of view, they both are very easy-going, bubbly and smiley people. But their resemblance ends there. Orihime is a sweet girl, yes! But she is far, far, far away from being nurturing the way Masaki was portrayed. Orihime’s main goal is portrayed as one through the whole series: Ichigo; (or whatever idea she had of Ichigo.) All the series, her main motivator was Ichigo, to get close to him, to be with him. Romantically speaking. Let’s be real, y’all: Orihime is self-centered as fuck. That doesn’t make her a bad person, that just makes her human, like you and me. All Orihime works foward in the whole series is to achieve what she wants. No one can blame her for that! Orihime grew up by her own, and she had to think of herself first and foremost if she wanted to stay alive, because no one would do it for her.

Now, let’s speak of Masaki. Masaki is basically the glorified saint of selflessness. She is the ultimate protector: the last person she thinks when a complicated situation arises is herself. She was compliant to marrying Ryuuken if that assured the well-being if the Ishida family that took her in. Even if that meant sacrificing her own happiness. And then, when she sees Isshin about to be killed by a Hollow, what she does? She just bursts in the battle to save him, even if it cost her life. Let’s not forget that Isshin was a Shinigami, her natural nemesis. And then comes her biggest sacrifice: her life for her son’s. Masaki’s life philosophy was to do all the things she could do to help others, even at the cost of herself. She preferred to die than to see anyone suffering.

Now, dude, do you dare to look me in the eye and say that they are sooo alike like OMG they’re twinsies!!! and shit? If Masaki saw those adorable scenes in the Hueco Mundo arc where Orihime is crying over Ichigo’s lifeless body and shit she would have had an aneurysm. Because Masaki is a fighter. When she sees a loved one down she rises up for the fight, how powerful the enemy is doesn’t matter for her. BY THE WAY, THIS IS HOW MASAKI RAISED ALL OF HER KIDS. Even Karin, as powerless as she is as a human girl was willing to face a much more stronger and dangerous foe to protect her friends, and don’t let me start on how much Yuzu sacrificed of her childhood and how she was forced to grow up and fill her mother’s shoes and did so without complain!

BITCH, TATSUKI IS MORE OF A MOTHER FIGURED TO THE TWINS THAN ORIHIME!!!!! One of her first instincts after she wakes up in the Winter War arc is to check up on Yuzu and Karin!! 

And don’t come after me with that bullshit that they are both orphans and grew up surrounded by hostile blood relatives/caretakers and therefore they are soooo selfless and caring. Cuz’ you know what, bitch? If that makes a mother then Uryū is the real soccer mom of Bleach.

Btw, I’m not saying Orihime is incapable of being a great mother. She does seems like an awesome mother, in fact! It’s just that Orihime learned to be a good mother with her own child and with time. It doesn’t mean she was just Motherhood Material from the beggining, nor should she. AND SHE SHOULDN’T BE COMPARED TO ANYONE. (I swear that if someone came to face and said “you’re so much like my mother! you’re so motherly!” I would fucking set them on fire.)

I've seen some people argue that Rukia was in love with Kaien and that this was Kubo's way of using symbolism and "ship teasing" in favor of IR because of how much Kaien looked like Ichigo (almost identical). How would you respond to this?

Omg...lol. The reason Kaien looks like Ichigo is because they’re related. It was revealed in the final arc that Isshin was actually at the head of the Shiba clan. Before leaving SS behind for the human world and taking on Masaki’s last name of Kurosaki, his name was Isshin Shiba. Meaning Ichigo is also related to the Shiba’s. Likely very closely related given how they all look quite similar---Ichigo looks like Kaien AND Kaien’s sister, Kukaku Shiba. And Kukaku looks a lot like Ichigo’s sister, Karin (who also looks like Ichigo). They’re all family. 

Did IR’s just....never consider that? Like, lmao did that just fly right over their heads? That Kaien looks like Ichigo, not to foreshadow some non-existent romantic pairing that never happened...but to hint that it would eventually be revealed that Kaien and Ichigo were actually family....? But nah, everything revolves around IR, I guess. Forget the plot and interwoven storylines of this shounen series, IR was what took precedence at the forefront of Kubo’s mind lmao. 

I know we always joke about how blinded they are by their IR-shipping goggles but my god, this just takes the cake. 

The thing is, you could maybe make these arguments about how much Kubo was foreshadowing IR if it had actually happened...? But it didn’t. Not only that, but we know that he never even considered it. It’s not like he wrote a bunch of foreshadowing and hints for it and then just suddenly changed his mind at the last second. When Bleach ended, he revealed that he had the IH/RR marriages planned since chapter one, that he knew all along that the final chapter would result in Ichigo’s son meeting Rukia’s daughter...What room did that ever leave for IR? None. So what’s the point of continuing to argue that he was hinting at it.

Any hints or foreshadowing of IR---if they actually existed---would just be red-herrings, because none of it ever came to fruition in the end. IR never happened. So any “hints” for it would just be intentionally throwing the reader off and pointing them to a dead-end, as red-herrings do. In other words, even if Ichigo wasn’t related to the Shiba’s and he just *mysteriously* looked like Kaien and Rukia was in love with Kaien but IH/RR still happened in the end....Ichigo looking like Kaien still wouldn’t be foreshadowing IR, because IR still didn’t happen. Thus....it would just be a red-herring that IR’s fell for. 

But to be clear, I don’t think Kubo was giving them red-herrings (he told them way back in 2008 that it wasn’t romantic. He was pretty straightforward with them, they just wouldn’t listen). Kaien looking like Ichigo wasn’t some “IR red-herring.” Kaien looking like Ichigo did in fact foreshadow something---not an IR romance, but the eventual reveal of Ichigo being related to the Shiba’s. 

If Kubo was really out there the entire time he was writing Bleach, coming up with all of this “IR symbolism” and all of their theories of him “hinting/foreshadowing IR”....he would have made it canon. He would have had THAT planned out from the beginning, instead of their literal marriages and children to Orihime/Renji. There was nothing stopping him from writing an IR romance, other than the fact that he didn’t want to. He never intended on it. It was never in the cards. It’s really that simple.

It’s like, we IH shippers always theorized that Kubo was hinting at an IH romance using Tanabata symbolism for example, and there’s actual weight to support this because IH actually became canon in the end. So we can point out that he was hinting and foreshadowing it all along without looking like total fools, because....it actually happened! He really was hinting at it all along. IH being canon, along with Kubo’s statements, gives credence to that.

Also, this idea that Kubo would foreshadow Rukia falling in love with Ichigo because she used to be in love with his cousin is just.....???  I can’t imagine being with someone who was once in love with one of my family members that I look almost identical to. That just sounds so weird, like...some Jerry Springer “my husband slept with my twin sister” shit or something. No thanks. Keep it.
