The world card is the very last card in the tarot deck and represents completion. Now, I would like to turn this over to venuz because he knows more about the cycles and years and stuff. But, I do, I want to also talk about the 10th card in tarot. This is the wheel of fortune. This card signifies karma, destiny, and fate. The cycle of life. This card also resembles the world card but not in a way where things are ending. It shows how life goes on & on. This card also has The Lion, The Bull, The Human, and The Eagle. The four corners of the world/ The angels of the four directions. We see how that number 4 is so significant. These are cycles, and fixed is the last stage. Beyonce was right, America really does have a problem...... The Seal has been broken. ☺ Now, to you venuz.

Cycles......Yes, cycles! Everything evolves in cycles and changes, it's only so long you can stay in the same scenario or comfort zone without chaos knocking at your door. Aquarius is all about change and revolutionizing its surroundings and its people. This energy is at its boiling point. College Preparation Ritual

This spell is mainly to get me ready and motivated to start the summer semester. It will be my first semester. I will be taking an orientation course, English 101, and Psychology 101. Im really excited, English is a strong subject for me, and I'm sure I will enjoy the psychology class, as that is my major. It is also for me to know what to expect.

I want to pass this first semester with an 80% or higher in all my classes. To do this I intend to spend at least 3 hours a day on each subject. Hopefully the orientation course is fairly easy and I don't need to spend much time on it but as for the reading and psychology course I must spend 3 hours a day. I will check my grades and ask for help when needed. If I can't get my work done alone, then I will ask for a tutor to help me out. I will be asking for extra time on tests if needed, and for a weekly schedule with everything that I will need to get done on a specific day.

How To

Wait until the full moon, do the ritual at night. In my case that is today, May 5th.

Lay out everything in front of me and neatly organize everything needed. Ground yourself.

Begin by cleansing the space around you and calling on the four element. Do this by lighting a charcoal tablet and placing it into the offering bowl. Drop some lavender into the bowl and say a cleansing incantation.

Drop some more lavender to call on the element of air. Drop allspice to call on fire. Drop some catnip to call on water. And finally, mugwort to call on earth

This will cause a build up of energy. Harness that energy by practicing mindfulness or by meditating.

Now get the plate and pour some altar oil onto it. Then roll the blue candle on the plate and coat it in altar oil. Next, sprinkle on rosemary and lemon balm on the candle.

Light the candle and place into the candle holder. Burn it to completion

As the candle is burning, I shall do a tarot reading to determine what to expect as I approach the start of the summer semester.

Reflection

So did the ritual at 8 pm. It took about 30 minutes to complete. I started with a meditation as the moon began to rise. Soon after I started I could see the moon in the sky. I followed the instructions to a T. I drew asked the deck what to expect going into the summer semester. I drew The Star, The Emperor, and The Ace of Pentacles. I took it as advice instead. It didn't really tell me what to expect just gave me advice. I think that is because I already knew what I would expect. I felt like it as trying to tell me to have hope and believe in myself. To set boundaries in the form of asking for accomodations for my autism. And most importantly, to be ready for hard work. be ready to stretch myself a bit.

The Star

So I feel pretty strongly that this card is telling me to have hope as the end of fucking around is upon me. And the beginning of college nears, i am beginning to realize actual hard work is in this situation in order to pass. It's time for me to take my future seriously, and take the risk that is going to college and majoring in psychology

The Emperor

Like I said before, now is the time to ask for accomodations. I feel bad because I would be asking my professors to essentially take time out of their busy weeks to make a calendar/schedule for me so I know what needs to get on on a day to day basis. but it might just be vital to my success. I find it difficult to map out what needs to get done everyday because it's overwhelming to look at a long list of tasks that need to be done. I need help breaking it down into smaller chunks. It's not like what I'm asking for is an unreasonable accommodation either.

The Ace of Pentacles

I feel like I get held back by being afraid of not being perfect. Like my mom used to hold me to a standard of passing all my classes with A's because I was able to manage that one year. I'm afraid of not being able to pass my classes. I'm scared I'm gonna move slower than everyone else because that how it felt in high school especially in my junior year. That combined with the fact that I just wasn't interested anymore lead to me dropping out of CRAS. I still had that perfection mindset but I was afraid. I was afraid of inconveniencing my teachers by asking them to slow down. I was scared to ask for tutoring because I was taking time off from busy students to help me.

My #1 post of 2022

It appears the last two (2)….times I’ve tried creating this post, tumblr thought I was too wordy, so I’m going to attempt to get in and get out before it eats itself again

was just shuffling my tarot deck & watching the full moon. kind of thinking about where i want to go from here. from this whole situation. since finding more nodules in my lungs, i've just been extremely clouded and sad. i found myself thinking about how the moon just kinda is there every night, no matter what. as it has been for millions of years, and will be for millions more.

isn't that kind of what i should do, too? just keep rising? keep going no matter what, just to see what the next day brings? truthfully, i have zero control over what happens to me. maybe i'll die young. maybe a miracle will occur. i don't know, and i won't know until it happens. so why am i spending so much time planning my death?

i almost think i should pretend i never found out about any new evidence of disease. i should just keep going like i'll be here until i'm 80, and live as normal a life as possible. then i pulled my cards.

funnily enough, i pulled the hermit, which of course signals that i need to keep having these conversations with myself. and then i pulled the 10 of cups. so, live right now. enjoy the peace of right now. the things that hurt you also GROW you.

that's exactly how i feel. i'm in such a beautiful part of my life. not because all this horrible shit is happening to me, but because it feels RAW. my life feels like road rash right now. everything is so sensitive and i'm hyperaware of the pain. the beautiful part is that whatever i lose, whatever is sanded away, will come back to me tenfold in the end. because i've felt this hurt and slowly waded through these circumstances, i'm going to grow. like a tree, i'm going to enter my next chapter of life with a new, stronger bark.

i feel too big for my apartment. like i've done so much growing and changing, that my soul is oozing out the windows and being pushed around by the sea breeze. shouldn't that be enough? isn't it reason enough to keep going, to build a life big enough and vibrant enough for myself, no matter how long i get to enjoy it?

i need to let go. the future doesn't pertain to me. whatever happens then, i can't control it, and i can't worry about it enough to change it. the only thing i CAN do, is invest in tomorrow by doing what's best for me today. that will lead me down the right path. today is all that matters.

Blog update

For the past year or so, this blog has posted twice a day. Once at a random time between 6:30-7:30 AM MST and once at a random time between 11:30 AM-12:30 PM MST.

Starting tomorrow, this blog will post once a day at noon MST exactly.

I am going to explain why below but before I do, I'm going to TW for really, really serious mental health issues so... just stop reading if you're not up for that.

I am not well.

It is probably obvious from how absolutely off the wall some of my posts have been that my brain doesn't work like most people but I don't think anyone understands the full extent of just how broken my brain is.

Even my doctors don't agree. Give me a mental disorder, I've probably been diagnosed with it at least once. Autism. Depression. Bipolar. ADHD. BPD. CRSD. GAD. I've got the whole fucking can of alphabet soup in my bowl, but nobody really knows.

What we do know is that during June, at the same time my dad got diagnosed with cancer (don't worry, I didn't even know stage 0 cancer was a thing but apparently they caught it so early they just did a tiny little surgery and now they think he's completely cancer free) my depression hit hard. Legitimately, so bad that I was officially declared disabled by it to keep me on my parents' insurance since I turned 26 in August.

The only song that I can even think of that comes close to trying to describe how I feel is the song Autoclave, by The Mountain Goats. Embedded below if you'd like to listen.

We've done everything. I have a therapist I see weekly. I did a sleep study. I have a psychopharmacologist who has prescribed me enough medications that I could probably not just tranquilize an elephant but also cure the tiger's depression, stabilize the lion's mood, and hook up the ringmaster with some real good shit. We spent 5000 dollars to try an experimental ketamine treatment that insurance didn't cover at all. I've done ECT. I got desperate enough that I tried to turn to religion, I went to a Catholic church just because it was the only denomination open at 3 PM on a Tuesday and I sat in that pew and I prayed for an hour that God would send me someone, just that someone would sit down and say "you seem troubled, child" and nobody fucking came. Then one night I prayed so hard I literally cried, begging God to send me something, some kind of sign, literally anything, to keep going, and the next day my cat knocked over one of my decks of tarot cards and every single card fell face down except the death one. So. There's that. That's only one thing left that I haven't tried, and that's where they're going to take my blood and then sequence my DNA and try and figure out what medication my body would react best to, and I hope that it works because I've been struggling with suicidal ideation since I was 6 and... even if I am a phoenix, I'm getting real fucking tired of rising from the ashes. Everything we've tried is just a fucking cul-de-sac of misery. I have fallen into this rut and I can't get unstuck and this is the worst I've ever felt in my entire life, I'm upset and angry at everything from my grandpa, for dying before I was before so I never got any memories of him, to my cat for not letting me eat in peace, but none moreso than at myself for feeling this way when it is absolutely no one's fault that any of this is happening. The only peace I know is when I'm in a heavily medicated sleep and I can dream all night of freedom but then I wake up but I never wake up free. If you cannot relate to this, then I sure hope you pick a deity and thank them for your luck.

So, what does any of that have to do with the format of this blog changing?

Well, it's simple. I'm not funny anymore. There were times I had 200+ posts in my queue. Right now I have less than 80.

Sometimes, I still have some spark of inspiration (though most of the time it's really more my brother just made another stupid video edit) but the fact of the matter is that I'm just... I'm not producing anything worth a damn thing at the rate things have been posting. This is the only thing I can try to do to make it last a little bit longer while I hope for a miracle because every second of every day I am in pain, it hurts just being awake, like, I am in an agony that most of you probably can't even fathom.

And, well, if it gets to eighty days from now, and there's no more posts, and no more updates... Well, you'll know what happened. I hope you also know that I'm sorry that I couldn't step out of the shadow of my great catastrophe, but I also hope you know that I really, really did try my goddamn hardest.

Language Learning Log 2022 Week 21 (23.05 - 29.05)

That’s a pretty strong reading (3 major arcana and a very strong minor arcana!) and three of those cards have all appeared in recent spreads too. Not the busiest week language-wise because I’ve been very focused on work. I’m feeling pretty burned out right now, but gotta wait 3 weeks until my week off. I can’t quite believe how crazy booked up I am right now on italki! I already have over 80 lessons booked in June, which considering I’m taking a week off as well is quite a lot! I think this month I’ve taught something like 130 lessons? Crazy. That’s the most since I started teaching and I was inundated with trial lessons. Normally I average 100-110 a month (although that dropped in February and March when I was preparing for the Bergenstest and closed a lot of my calendar). I’ve had a number of students messaging me asking me if I can possibly open time slots for them because they can’t find a slot in my calendar. I wasn’t planning on raising my prices until July, but maybe I’ll have to raise them sooner. Who knows, maybe I really can make it as an ESL teacher!

I continued watching How to be Likable in a Crisis this week. I still don't understand more than an occasional word without the subtitles, but it's still good because I'll often recognise words I've recently learned and it makes me feel like I'm making progress (even if it's small and I'm a long way from actually understanding!)

I got a free trial of FluentU. I don't think it's worth $144 a year, so I'll cancel my subscription before the end of the trial, but for now it's okay. I'm learning new vocabulary and I quite like its reviewing method (seeing the vocabulary in sentences and repeating a few times, plus being able to build your own flashcard decks) but other than that I'm not that impressed lol. For $144 a year I’d expect more original content and grammar/culture tips, but it’s mostly just fancy flashcards (with questionable pronunciation) and Youtube videos. I’ll stick with Duolingo thanks (which also has questionable pronunciation but at least it’s free).

Detect Magic: the Sixth World Tarot by Echo Chernik

Y'know, it's been a long time since I did one of these, but here goes. It's time for another Detect Magic review. I haven't put the Dork Magician hat on for a while, so let's give this a whirl!

Today we're taking a look at the Sixth World Tarot, by Echo and Lazarus Chernik. She has this available on her website (click the above link), which come signed by the artist and the author. I'm a bit bummed, I bought a copy of this deck juuuuust before she started signing them. Not her fault, but still. XD

For those of you unfamiliar with Shadowrun, it's a cyberpunk dystopian magic-and-mech RPG setting and fantasy novel universe which originated in the late 80's. The premise is that magic is growing stronger, the world experienced a big Awakening in the early 2000's, right around the same time that corporations managed to gain extraterritoriality. So, you have dragons running huge megacorps, which basically enslave people to be lifelong wageslaves from birth (or as soon as they can get their hands on a desired talent), immersive VR Matrix hackers, cyberware enhanced fighters and magic practitioners acting as "deniable assets" to said corps for all sorts of shady business.

Hence the name "Shadowrun."

This setting, one of my absolute favorite settings out there, has had the misfortune of developing a sort of eerie prophetic element akin to the Simpsons and its bizarre track record of prediction of ludicrous world events. Shadowrun was intended to be a cautionary tale, not an oracular one. That being said, that does make a tarot based on Shadowrun more than a little on-the-nose for predictive purposes. After all, they're telling the future without even trying. Wait until they actually put some effort into it...

All right, time to Detect Magic!

Accessory- Crit (4 out of 4) Stunning artwork, evocative imagery... this deck is gorgeous. It's so beautiful, and so intricate and well made, that people who don't even read tarot (or even particularly like tarot) buy several copies for their geeky collections, and even people who don't particularly care about Shadowrun have dropped their jaw when I showed the deck to them.

A bit busier than I'm used to working with (not the art, but the extras which I'll explain later), I was pleasantly surprised at how much I loved the cards when I first got them. The box for both editions I own are a nice durable gloss with a magnetic foldover closure, there's a ribbon inside each to help pull the cards and book out of the box, and the decorative artwork is gorgeous and fitting with the setting. Definitely aesthetically pleasing enough to take places, and durable enough to resist scuffing or tearing for on-the-go divination and gaming use.

Tome- Crit (4 out of 4) So, the Tome section of this review is supposed to be about how well the cards help one in the pursuit of learning magic and practicing geekomancy. And... really, I don't think I've found a deck (or any artifact of fandom) quite as good as this.

Let me explain.

Tarot, in the sorcery practice I teach, are already basically a pictorial grimoire, describing life in a way that allows us to learn the hidden movements, mysteries, and forces at play in our world. Art is good for things like that in general. It helps you see the world through a special lens, one which allows you to see things you might have missed.

The thing is, the lens of this deck is the Shadowrun continuity, which as I said earlier, has proven to be more than a little prophetic, and alarmingly so.

The magic system of Shadowrun is pretty adjacent to our own. Life force lines, spiritual power sites, astral projection and spirits and magical "energy" forms, initiatory mysteries... it's all pretty much the same as our own reality, just juiced up a bit, with some extra game elements added (don't even ask me about insect spirits).

This makes the deck particularly helpful if one wishes to learn magic in any of the myriad ways described in Shadowrun (and they're particularly respectful and diverse and true-to-life in their tradition descriptions).

BUT, it also has an entire lore-book called the Book of the Lost associated with it, which explains all these little secret sigils and images and easter eggs stored throughout the deck, which can be used for gamebuilding and storytelling, but are designed to be arcane indicators and omens, among other things. And the kinds of symbols they use range from sentences or mottos in dead languages, all the way to waveform patterns and dot-matrix maps. I swear, if you're one of those people who like puzzles and cryptography, this deck is even more fun than the Hermetic Tarot.

In summary, while you'll have to get some Shadowrun sourcebooks to really get deep into the canon lore, there's so much of it that the cards really show you on their own that I don't consider this a setback at all. Feel free to deep-dive with this deck, you'll learn a TON about magic if you let it guide you.

Relic- Success (3 out of 4) If you read the Book of the Lost, or Unearthed Arcana, or any of the 5th edition Shadowrun magic sourcebooks, you'll see that "tarot magic" is an up and coming thing in their canon. Each text helps you see how practitioners use the cards in-game for spellcasting, ritual magic, initiation practices and spirit summoning. The Tarot are already really valuable as central objects of importance to certain kinds of magical practice. This particular deck is designed to be so handy a central object that there's an entire book dedicated to it.

Weapon- Success (3 out of 4) The only reason I'm rating this a success instead of a crit is because they don't provide enough spreads in the various associated books for one to immediately begin casting spells with them, which means you'll have to do some designing. They do have a couple solid unique spreads for basic divination though.

The deck's canon in-game suggests ritual practices like gathering and doing a ritual with sets of related cards, and one such ritual was easily adapted in my own practice, into the Lucky Kimono spread I designed (which people can read about on my Patreon at the higher tiers). So, even without outright including spell-spreads, they sort of gave us clues anyway.

Again, you're going to need the sourcebooks, but it's only a few of them, and they're well worth a read even if you're not planning on playing the game (and I don't play in the actual Shadowrun mechanical system, though I do like the sourcebooks for campaign setting ideas).

Overall Rating: Critical Success (14 out of 16)

Achievement Unlocked: Novahot Echo's artwork is already legendary in the dork realms of geekomancy. She's done work for Dungeons and Dragons, Mage: the Ascension, House of Night... she's even working on a Fate: the Winx Saga playing card deck right now. Her art-nouveau delicacy combined with the powerful non-pandering way she draws women means that her paintings pack a punch!

That being said, it's rare that we see professional artists create a tarot deck of this magnitude as a gaming accessory. Most tarot decks of this caliber are found in professional occult catalogues or as independent projects by artists just wanting to flex their skills for their own reasons. To have a deck like this, clearly a labor of love by all involved, as a major element of gameplay within a franchise is really very special. And something this diverse, deep, and absolutely saturated with layers of ciphers and riddles... it's a geekomancer's dream come true.

Level Up: 2 Levels I think the only way anyone's going to be able to top this deck is if they manage to design a tarot deck that's also a fully immersive VR video game AND an AR game and divination tool useable with one's iPhone or Android. Legit, Echo and Lazarus left everyone in the dust. I haven't been this excited about Shadowrun since Shadowrun Returns first came out, and I got a set of dogtags that had a USB drive with the game on it.

It's just... crazy cool.

Full disclosure, I've had the deluxe edition of these cards for a while now, so I've basically been low-key squeeing about this deck since I first heard about it in 2018, even before I got it. I've been utterly astonished that people weren't more excited about them, and I wasn't hearing about them everywhere.

Before this, I created my own Shadowrun tarot method using the Universal Transparent Tarot (cuz, y'know, plastic and see-through and weird little mosaic readings all in one place, seemed fitting to me), and when I got the Sixth World Tarot? I don't think I've opened the UTT since!

How to Choose a Tarot Deck

It’s October, which means that many people who are vaguely curious the rest of the year decide to take the plunge and start dabbling in tarot and witchcraft. There’s a million intro’s to tarot out there, but I’ve decided to throw another log on that fire and give you yet another perspective on it.

Some things you should know getting into this:

Tarot can be a part of your practice, or it can just be something you do separate from that. Not all people who read tarot are witches, and not all witches read tarot.

What makes tarot work? That’s going to depend on you and where you pull power. Does it work? Yes if you go into it with appropriate expectations, and take the appropriate actions to make it work. That’s a whole other post, though.

Some people say that you shouldn’t buy your own tarot deck, and that it must be gifted. Some people say that it doesn’t matter. I say, it depends on your personal practice and beliefs. But either way, whether you’re buying it or heavily implying to someone that it would be a great gift, this is a beginner’s guide to picking a deck.

Oracle decks aren’t tarot decks, though they often may be read in similar ways. Both are valid forms of cartomancy (reading the future through cards), and you can use these steps to pick an oracle deck too, but there’s a few more steps for an oracle deck.

Step 1: Shop around! 

It doesn’t have to be the first deck you see. There’s a bazillion decks out there, in a bazillion styles. Usually if you’re thinking of a deck, you’re thinking of the Rider-Waite-Smith (also called RWS) deck, but there’s so many different decks.

Step 2: Choose a deck with art that speaks to you!

Some decks are very Christian, some are very Pagan. Some decks only have white people, some have diversity in their art. Some only have women. Some don’t have any people and only have animals. Some only have birds or only have cats. Or dragons. Some are themed around tv shows or podcasts or books or authors or historical figures. Some are done in minimalist styles, some are incredibly detailed, some look like 80′s fantasy posters, some look like traditional folk styles.

Pick something that 1) pleases you to look at, because you will be looking at it, and 2) speaks to you. A great deal of reading tarot is not memorizing the booklet, but interpreting the art on the card. I struggle with some decks because they pull from traditions that are completely foreign to me, and others are just completely intuitive. Take the time to look at the cards and see what makes sense.

Step 3: Look at other people’s readings with that deck!

Before I buy a deck, I look at other people who have it and see what they think. No two people will have the exact same experience, but sometimes if you’re struggling a little with the idea of reading the cards, seeing someone else read it might make it click. Or, sometimes they mention something about the deck that you wouldn’t have otherwise known that makes up your mind. One example is that I almost bought a deck, until someone’s review revealed that the physical quality of the cards was poor, and that they wore out fast. On the other hand, I bought a deck because I was pretty sure I wanted it, and then I found out that the cards are closer to the size of playing cards, which is lovely because I have small hands.

Don’t be afraid to reach out to people who have that deck and ask them what they think! I have a bunch of decks, and each one has a different feel, and I’m always happy to talk to people about that.

Step 4: Don’t be afraid to make a mistake!

Now, some decks are expensive, and probably don’t jump straight into a deck that’s very expensive unless you’re sure that that’s what you want, or you’ve got the cash to burn. Or, buy it second hand.

There is, indeed, a market for second hand decks, because even if you’ve gone through all these steps, and you’ve got twelve other decks that you click with, you may sometimes be wrong! And that’s ok! You can always offload a deck, because there’s always someone who might want it. There’s nothing wrong with that.

Step 5: Enjoy your deck!

There’s a lot of posts about bonding with your deck and learning to read it, and maybe I’ll write one, but maybe not. Mostly, I make this point as a reminder that this is something that’s fun.

Enjoy your deck! Have fun with it! Spend time with it! Learning a new deck is a treat, not a chore. Have fun!

TAROT FOR BEGINNERS: 3 MOST COMMON MISTAKES that Beginner Tarot Readers Make.

At this point I’ve been reading cards for many years.

I have come to realization that most Tarot teachers talk only about cards, their meanings and combinations. But hardly ever do they give advice on how to really become a PROFESSIONAL, what things to avoid and how to get over the fear to tell the truth.

This is what my blog posts are about.

I’ve made my mistakes and I’ve learned my lessons. I’ve went through a lot of education, taking in information from different Tarot educators all over the world.

But you know what, making mistakes is totally normal. And you who doesn't make mistakes? The one who doesn't do anything.

The mistakes we will talk about are typical for beginners and those who chose to study Tarot by themselves, without taking any formal education. And it is quite difficult to become a professional if you choose this path.

So, what are these common mistakes?

1. RELYING ON YOUR INTUITION TOO MUCH WITHOUT KNOWING THE CARDS WELL.

There, I’ve said it. You are probably surprised now because you thought that the key to success in Tarot is your intuition

I will debunk this myth and tell you that ANYONE can become a good Tarot Reader because your intuition is only ONE of the things that will lead to your success but NOT the most important one.

First and foremost, you need to know your CARD MEANINGS and you need to know them really well.

And I mean really well. To the point if someone wakes you up at night and asks what does 8 of Cups mean you will be able to explain the card in details.

And I am not talking about the general meaning of the Card such as “moving on from what no longer serves you because clearly something is missing.”

You need to know how this card shows itself in different areas of a person’s life. What does it mean in relationship? What about finances? What if someone is looking to make a career move?

You need to know the detailed meaning of the card in THE MOST ASKED life situations, especially love life since it will attribute to around 80% of ALL your READINGS.

Only when you master your card meanings and not only know them but also understand the cards, why they have these specific illustrations and what meaning is behind them, you can tap into the intuitive part.

What do I mean by understanding the cards?

Whatever deck you selected to work with, you need to understand what are the most important Elements that are illustrated on the card and how they connect to its meaning.

Going back to 8 of Cups example. You need to be able to explain why there is Cup missing and how this relates to an emotional well-being of your client.

8 of Cups signifies leaving behind that what no longer serves you.

When you know the cards well enough, you should practice developing and improving the intuitive part. The more you practice reading cards, the more you will "train" your intuition.

The consistent work with Tarot cards will train your intuition. Eventually, you will be able to create a complete "picture" putting together all the cards in the spread.

However, be careful not to mix intuition with your fantasy. The intuition will not work until you work through every card, know how this card play out in different areas of life and until you know the correspondences of elements and how they interact with each other in a spread. More on that below.

All this is a FOUNDATION to your intuition.

2. IGNORING OTHER ASPECTS OF TAROT ASIDE FROM GENERAL MEANINGS

If you thought learning Tarot is just memorizing card meanings, I am going to disappoint you here. It’s much more than that. But this is also what makes Tarot so amazing. Tarot is transformational.

You should not ignore things like astrology, colours, numerology and four Elements. And here is why.

For the purposes of this post, I will use elements as an example. We know that there are 4 elements in Tarot: Water, Fire, Air and Earth. These are four Tarot cards group of 14 cards of Minor Arcana. Each Tarot suite corresponds to the Element of Nature that gives that suite certain qualities and characteristics.

Depending on the Element of each card, the interaction of that card with another can be harmonious, opposing or neutral.

Tarot Elements interact with each other using these rules.

You need to understand that the way elements are positioned in the spread will not change the meaning of the card but will either increase the qualities of the card, making it stronger or the opposite.

If you have Water elements card beside a Fire element card, even if the cards are both good, the message they carry will be significantly weaker.

Do not. Ignore. Your elements, guys.

This may seem complicated and too much work and thinking but the sooner you start understanding elements and applying this information in your readings, the better will be the quality of your reading.

At the end, you will always go back to realizing you should have learned them earlier, so better start right away.

3. GIVING TOO MUCH OF YOUR OPINION INSTEAD OF READING CARDS.

Guys, let’s get real. Often Tarot readers are also psychologists, marriage counselors and financial advisors. We are all of that.

But we should not forget why a person came to us instead of all of those above. People trust Tarot. They trust US to RELAY the INFORMATION CARDS ARE SAYING.

This is very important and often forgotten. I went once to an almost 2 hours reading where I only saw two spread done. The rest was just a conversation and advice from a point of view of a person that didn’t even know me.

Should you skip giving advice all together? No, of course not. But you may want to wait for your client to ask for one.

In my readings you will never hear me saying “I think you should.” No one cares about what I think, in my opinion. I always read cards. I am here as a messenger and to help deliver the MESSAGE OF THE CARDS to my clients.

Yes, my clients ask me for an opinion, but I always try to explain that this is what I would do based on my morals, goals and upbringing. And ALL of those may be completely different from my client’s situation.

I’m going to give you an example. You client’s husband is cheating on his wife. She’s in tears asking you what to do. You tell her how horrible this is and that she should definitely break up with him. She listens to you and does exactly that. Well, her family is now done, she’s left alone with her kinds, she already forgave her husband a thousand times and is now blaming YOU for ruining her life forever.

What you should’ve done instead? Read. Your. Cards.

“Your husband is cheating on you but whether you should leave him is your choice based on your life circumstances and how you respond to cheating.” Done.

Never forget about a free will. Everyone has a power to choose and learn their lessons.

Moral of a story? Always go back to your cards and let them be the foundation. This way your clients will never go back to you and say that you gave them an awful advice that ruined their life or relationship.

You know what, it’s 2021 in most of the earth right now, and since we’re still in the casual moment™, not to say the alcohol ingested while I hugged my dog throughout the night, I think I can allot to make a random, unprompted post about my family, more specifically my parents love story, because it’s so contrived and weird like a bad angsty romance that I still question them about it every now and again, including earlier today- no wait, yesterday(?).

See, I’m from a small town in the country, where one side of my family has been living pretty much since they arrived in this country (the ones that didn’t misspelled their names that is, the traitors...) and where the other side had arrived fairly recently.

It already starts as a cliche romance, as my mom had just transferred to my dad’s school, and ended up on his class. According to him, he instantly feel in love with her eye-straining pink sweater and 80′s hairstyle, so we kick-off with “love at first sight”.

Alright, two 15-16-years-old teens, friends for a long time before they started dating, yadda yadda, standard stuff... That’s usually where the following trope would be “the families disapproved”, but its quite the opposite, as my grandma liked my father so much that she pretty much said that if my mother ever broke up with him she would disowned. Amazing how with him being like, the 7th son-in-law she had in total he still ended up being the favorite.

Stuff happens, some years pass, they end up breaking up- that is, my mom breaks up with him because he wanted to get serious and she wasn’t ready for it. Angsty stuff, adds drama to the plot, although its completely ruined by our jokes over the matter: The breakup happened the day following easter, and my dad had brought a reaaally big, expensive gift for her, that, as me and my sister like to point out, she almost seemed to have waited for after he gave her the chocolate before breaking up with her.

They stay apart a few years, without seeing each other, what is really fucking odd when I stop to think about it, since the small is minuscule, you can’t walk more than five feet without seeing someone you know, AND the fact that my dad was best friends with pretty much all of her brothers, but I’ll try not to think about it too much, I’m a bit too dizzy for that right now. I know that after a while (non specified hoe long it was, but I’m betting at least a year) he started working at a nearby town, where he met someone else.

Now things get fucky in here... See, he met someone else, started dating, and according to what I was told by my “reliable sources”, it was pretty much an engagement in all but name. In the other side, my mom also had started dating again, and since some time had passed already in that front, she was actually already engaged to another person.

Both sides apart, oh, how would they even get back together? Simple, a deus ex machina from the universe itself. I don’t know which one of my witch aunts suggested it, but my mom went to see a old fortune teller, to ask about her future, and the woman told her a lot, including the part where she wouldn’t be happy with this person she was with, something along the lines of not being the right person.

She broke up her engagement because she saw that the woman seemed to know waaay too much for her to ignore. No, really, that’s what happened. A tarot deck was the fork in the road for her.

I’m still convinced that was my sister’s previous life, as it was so out of place and unexpected that there’s no way that it wasn’t her just making sure we’d be born one way or another.

Well, going back to my dad, that was in the marriage anniversary of his girlfriend/fiancee’ grandparents, when he heard the news about my mom having broken up with her current fiance. News apparently traveled fast back in the 90′s as he was in the next town over at the moment... Anyway, to make a long story short, he broke up with her, right there, in the middle of the party, and rushed back to my town.

You know, he insists that he only broke up with her because he didn’t wanted something that serious, even though as we previously mentioned, they were almsot engaged in all but the official ways, but that doesn’t fool us, we know he was only playing the long game, waiting for a moment to strike...

...And strike he did, as the following morning he was already in front of my grandmother’s house, waiting to talk with my mother again, what I assume was the first time in quite some time.

That was around 4-5 moths before they got married, if I recall correctly, and 9 months before evil being spawned into the world.

And that’s the incredibly weird and mildly infuriating story of how me and my sister are here right now. My god, I swear I’d be pretty pissed off I ever saw characters like this in a story, like really pissed off, but, it’s life, there’s not much I can say, I’d grumble about the actions if I saw that happening in television but I probably wouldn’t put down the OTP flag.

Favorite Movies as of 2021

Subject to updating because surely I’ve missed a few. This is not supposed to be a list of meritorious films but rather just a list of movies I genuinely enjoy. It runs from Shakespeare to Bill & Ted with heavy doses of 80s fantasy, superhero schlock, and pretty much anything with Kurt Russell in it. Enjoy.

1- Harvey No contest, my favorite of all time.

2- Big Trouble in Little China It’s always a great joy to introduce a new viewer to this film.

3- Flash Gordon (1980) In which they totally lean into the camp and low budget.

4- The Thing I watch this annually upon the first major snowfall.

5- Titus (Taymor) One winter break Titus would be on one of the movie channels each day when I woke up, so I watched it daily for a month and it didn’t get old.

6- Death to Smoochy “Are you alright?” “I’m a little fucked up in general so it’s hard to gauge.”

7- Blade Runner (The Final Cut) So there’s this dude Deckard and he hunts robots but it turns out HE’S a robot, oh so very clever, little film

8- Tombstone I recently learned that Kurt Russell directed this film in all but name.

9- The Dark Crystal Immersive fantasy, though I’m sure it appears plain, drab, and simple now after the Netflix prequel.

10- Somewhere in Time I’m a romantic, I guess. Thus all the John Carpenter movies.

11- Grosse Pointe Blank So good, I used to think I liked John Cusack.

12- The Producers (musical) You heard me. Wilder and Mostel were great but the musical version had decades to mill over and expand the premise.

13- To Be or Not To Be (Brooks) Surprisingly suspenseful.

14- The 13th Warrior Saw it again recently and it holds up. Horror, only it happens to viking warriors who would rather chop the horror down than run.

15- The Mighty Thor I mean, Black Panther is objectively the best of the lot but subjectively this is my personal favorite superhero flick. I must have seen it a half a dozen times at least.

16- Lost Boys A billion Chinese can’t be wrong.

17- Die Hard A Christmas tradition. As a postman, it’s cathartic for me to watch Christmas get blown up a little before all the hugging and sentiment.

18- The Blues Brothers Deadpan hilarity cut with performances by legends of blues and soul.

19- The Sting The best heist film. It keeps you guessing until the very end and no twist feels arbitrary or leaves a hole.

20- Interview with the Vampire Fun fact, I looked like Pitt’s Louis when I was a young man in the goth scene.

21- Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure “Be excellent to each other!” “Party on, dudes!” *air guitar*

22- The Seventh Seal See? This list has its high points.

23- Revolutionary Girl Utena Note: Read the entire manga, watch the entire anime series, and read Adolescence of Utena BEFORE watching this or you’ll be left confused. Dazzled but confused.

24- The Nightmare Before Christmas So good I got the tarot deck.

25- The Last Unicorn It’s still a damn shame they never made that live action remake. Christopher Lee was set to reprise King Haggard.

26- Chasing Amy Honestly changed my life.

27- Excalibur It’s weird though how they’re always in armor. Wedding? Armor. Dinner? Armor. Deathbed? Armor.

28- Ginger Snaps A cut above any other werewolf movie I’ve seen.

29- Top Secret! My sense of humor distilled.

30- Clash of the Titans (Harryhousen) Yeah it’s dry but then there’s the monsters.

31- Monty Python’s the Meaning of Life People are not wearing enough hats.

32- Shadow of the Vampire Nosferatu nearly made this list but it’s hard to pinpoint a definitive cut. Try instead this film about the making of Nosferatu with an actual vampire as the vampire.

33- Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust Look, we as a culture had the unfortunate experience of Twilight. This is the same premise but actually good.

34- The Last Supper This film challenged and changed me as a young man more so than any other work of art.

35- The Princess Bride The perfect film, but I’ve seen it so much it’s down at 35 now.

36- Blazing Saddles What can I as a white guy say? Just watch the movie.

37- Streets of Fire Always suspicious to me how Final Fight premiered within a year of this movie.

38- Gremlins More Christmas havok. Yum?

39- The Beastmaster Forgotten and underappreciated.

40- Ladyhawke A thing of beauty.

41- Willow C’mon. It’s Willow. I have nothing to justify here.

42- Speed Racer I know you heard it’s bad but hear me out: it is the strongest narrative I’ve ever seen on film and it’s exactly the way you played with your toy cars when you were little.

43- Angelheart You’re supposed to know that de Niro is Lucifer. The rest is mystery and the final reveal set up a trope that’s been done into the ground nowadays.

44- The Hunger More atmosphere than plot, but hey, vampire Bowie!

45- Zoolander My partner’s favorite.

46- Faust (Murnau) You will be shocked to see what was possible to achieve in film in 1926.

47- A Muppet Christmas Carol but a cut that includes the fiance’s song This finishes out my traditional Christmas films.

48- Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein Y’know, I’ve got two Branagh films on here and neither are what you would expect given his catalog. The other one’s Thor for crying out loud.

49- Highlander I noticed in recent editions of Vampire: the Masquerade that it’s still possible in that game to hide a katana in a trenchcoat. This movie is why.

50- The Name of the Rose One of only a few instances where I prefer the film to the book. That book loooooong.

51- Robocop (1987) Of all the damn science fiction, why must we be in Robocop?

52- The Prophecy Now we’re getting into films I demoted since the last time I updated this list. This film’s a slow burn unless you get turned up for angels and Christopher Walken like I do.

53- The Warriors Would be higher if the opening wasn’t so slow.

54- Legend Tim Curry kills it as Darkness.

55- Black Panther Objectively the best superhero movie and the Academy backs me on that one.

56- Wonder Woman I do wish they’d trot out Vandal Savage as a Wonder Woman villain.

57- Captain America: The Winter Soldier Just rewatched this one earlier! It is heavily marked by the height of the War on Terror.

58- Blade The ancestor of all modern superhero movies and a solid vampire flick to boot.

59- Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Nostalgic for me? Maybe, but I hold that this is the first comic film worth a damn because they stuck with the comics when they wrote it.

60- Captain America: the First Avenger This movie is a real test of character. If someone doesn’t like Cap it’s because they think goodness is unrealistic.

61- Four Rooms Really just rooms 3 and 4.

62- Reservoir Dogs Hey, two Tim Roth films in a row!

63- Event Horizon Do you see?

64- What Dreams May Come Kind of an emotional ringer, especially after William’s death.

65- Monty Python and the Holy Grail Have I watched it into the ground? Yes. Is it still hilarious? Yes, and it gets funnier the more you study Arthurian myth.

66- Pulp Fiction I’m kinda over this now.

67- The Crow People who liked the comic passionately disagree with me but I still like this one.

68- Akira Still.

69- Ghost in the Shell Still, though the farther you get from 13 the less titties you need in your art.

70- Beetlejuice Why not? Let's just tack this on there.

Honorable Mentions:

Fight Club A suburb film but one I grew out of, as should everyone. If you meet a man who’s passionate about Fight Club, run!

American Psycho Ditto. I grew out of this but it’s still excellent.

What’s Eating Gilbert Grape A horrible caricature of my brother’s life. I don’t get along with my brother any more.

Rocky Horror Picture Show Not actually a good film if you watch it straight with no commentary. Still, it’s a cornerstone of queer culture.

Guardians of the Galaxy vol. 2 Of all the superhero films, this is the one that resonated with me the most. I was in a weird place at the time. It still resonates with me now because I’m a foster dad.

The biggest changes are adding the Mischief skill to the Scam Artist branch and converting the Sims 3 Alchemy skill to Sims 4 Spellcaster ranks. The days in this career are short, so your Spellcaster Sim will have plenty of time to focus on their spellcasting as well.
