Pancakes Household: Chapter 9, Part 11
To ditch career day... or to not ditch career day...
Tumblr media
CW: Distressed infant
Since Tiana cannot speak her thoughts will often be in brackets
While Eliza and Bob have taken infant leave from their jobs, there is no such option for the teens. Fergus and Onyx pop their heads into the nursery where Bob is still rocking a sleeping Tiana and kiss her goodbye for the day. Then school awaits!
It looks like the Pancakes may have missed the outfit memo for today, oops. While Onyx heads off to find some friends Fergus tries to hastily finish the homework he neglected to finish. Unfortunately his friends are not much help this morning.
Anya: I look fabulous, thank you watcher
Artemisia: Are you staring at my best bracelet friend
Darwin: What? No. I was looking for the bus
Artemisia: Looking for the bus while we’re at school, unlikely
Atlas: I don’t think he meant anything by it
Fergus: Hold up- what did you guys get for 13?
Artemisia: Look dude, just keep your eyes to yourself
Darwin: Sure, and you can keep your venom to yourself
Tumblr media
Outside the main building Onyx and Paola have some time relaxing.
Onyx: Aim for the centre
Paola: Of course I’m aiming for the centre dummy
Zhafira: Onyx! Hey! Look who caught the bus again successfully!
Zhafira approaches the pair beaming happily.
Onyx: Congrats. Did you hear they’re shuffling classes today
Zhafira looks downcast while Onyx explains the younger and older students will be having combined classes for the morning. They'll be with some of their friends but not Zhafira who seems upset at having to get to know even more new people.
As this is happening Mrs Tinker and Mrs Hensley come over and try give Paola some tips for successful throwing. Unfortunately they have contrasting opinions and in the end the teens decide the safest option is just to pretend they’ve gotten bored and head inside.
Tumblr media
Onyx takes a quick swim before class and still manages to get to the room before the teacher begins the lesson.
Mrs T: Today we will be buddying up. Older students please join a younger student and we will begin designing a business for this scenario
Onyx: Mrs T can’t I just buddy up with Amie since she’s beside me
Mrs T: Sorry Onyx but Mr A wants to foster whole school cooperation, that's why we're having staggered classes this morning
Carson: I wish William had been put in here
Darwin: Don’t worry, we’ll see him at lunch
Carson: And I wish some outfits didn’t make my glasses vanish, it's like I've been dressed by a computer
Tumblr media
After class wraps up Fergus goes to talk with Artemisia.
Fergus: I’m excited to see what we’ll learn this afternoon
Artemisia: *sighs* Don’t be too excited, it’s career day
Fergus: You’re not punking me, we only just started high school. There is no career day
Artemisia: I’m serious. I’m also thinking of skipping out on it
Fergus: We can do that?
Artemisia: I reckon I can, question is do you have the guts to
Fergus: Of course I do. Onyx was still feeling ill this morning so we can use that excuse to head home
Artemisia: May the best person not be caught
Tumblr media
Back home Eliza is carrying Tiana when the infant fusses to be put down.
Eliza: Okay then, down we go
Tiana: *coos* (I coo now mother) *coos louder*
Eliza: Was that a coo? Was that a coo? I think it was *claps*
Tiana smiles and sticks her fingers in her mouth. Mother is pleased, she must be doing well. Even though mother keeps saying the word go, Tiana is happy they haven't seemed to leave the house.
Tumblr media
Eliza is busy feeding Tiana when Fergus walks through the room.
Eliza: Hold on! What are you doing home?
Fergus: Umm, Onyx’s head got bad again so we came home so they could get a nap
Fergus walks over to the suckling infant and holds her hand for a bit. Tiana doesn't seem to grip back yet but she's looking at him curiously.
Eliza: You came home so Onyx could nap? I don’t think so. Onyx is capable of napping by themselves
Fergus: Fine, it was career day! I don’t need to worry about that yet. I’ll do extra homework tonight I promise
Eliza burps Tiana who spits up down her back.
Eliza: Ugh. it's okay honey, we can clean that up
Fergus: Want me to grab a cloth
Eliza: Please. Now I do not want you skipping school again, but since you’re here you can walk Strawberry since you're keen to help Onyx
Fergus: But I want to- *sighs* yes mother
Tumblr media
The house is left quiet for Onyx’s nap while Bob takes Ginger for a run and Fergus takes Strawberry for a walk.
Eliza: Come on my snuggly sleeper. You get comfy back there and you can nap while mother does her run
Tiana: *coos questioningly* (wait, no, not outside! I don't want to leave) *cries* (I want to stay with mother)
Eliza: It's okay Tiana, mother is right here with you. We're just going to check out the neighbourhood huh. You'll be okay
Eliza jogs off and keeps talking to Tiana. Eventually the regular bouncing of the back carrier and the softness of Eliza's voice lull Tiana to sleep. Eliza is delighted to hear a quiet snuffling snore at her back as she runs.
Tumblr media
Later that day...
Fergus: Dad?
Bob: Yes
Fergus: Umm, Tiana is crying. Don’t you think you should go give her a nap rather than carry her on your back
Bob: But- she’s learning with me though
Eliza: Fergus is right Bob, she’s exhausted. Better giver her to me
Bob: But I want to spend time with her
Eliza: And so you can, when she’s awake. You know she had a hard night, she needs to catch up on sleep still
Bob: *sighs* fine. Here Tiana honey, go with your mother *whispers* I'll teach you how to cook later though
Tumblr media
Eliza carries a grumpy over tired infant into the nursery and sits down with her in the rocking chair.
Eliza: There there Tiana, it’s okay, you just go to sleep
Tiana: *coos* (mother came back with me, I not left behind) *yawns*
Eliza: It's okay my sleepy girl, mother is right here and daddy is just down the hall. You can sleep, I'll keep you safe
Tiana does feel very tired and so she yawns and falls asleep in Eliza’s arms. It may not be winning a Nobel Prize but Eliza feels pretty proud of finding time in her schedule to snuggle with her daughter.
Tumblr media
The teens decided to do their homework at their own desks tonight! Fergus was working away on some science as he has a class trip to the aquarium tomorrow. Onyx meanwhile did their best to study for their exams. After Onyx felt like they could confidently say they were no longer sick they went and did some cheer practice. Later in the evening Tiana woke up.
Tumblr media
After a diaper change Eliza gets Tiana into a clean night onesie and goes in search of Bob.
Bob: Thank you for the suggestion. She’s given us so much joy already
Kayleigh: No problem at all I- oh is this her?
Eliza: *grinning* Kayleigh may I introduce our youngest? This is Tiana
Kayleigh: Oh she is precious
Bob: Come to daddy, did you have a nice nap
Eliza: She’s still quite tired, I think she’ll need a proper sleep after her bottle
Bob: We can do that
Kayleigh: I best get going, see you all later
Tumblr media
Bob: Can you say bye bye to Kayleigh
Tiana: *coos and snuggles into shoulder* (daddy is here, mother found him for me)
Bob: *chuckles* okay, food time then
Bob is delighted to see Tiana has a healthy appetite. He prepares himself to be spat on but to his surprise only gas comes out. Snuggling Tiana close he carries her down the hall and places her in her crib. He softly tells her another tall tale and the exhausted infant falls asleep happy with the sounds of fellow sims.

APRIL 2024 WRAP UP
[loved liked ok nope dnf (reread) bookclub*]
Death in the Spires • Heartstopper Vol 4 • Heartstopper Vol 3 • To Marry an English Lord • The True Queen • (Heartstopper Vol 2) • Fun Home* • (Arabella of Mars) • I’m Glad My Mom Died • (Sorcerer to the Crown) • And Then There Were None • Vassa in the Night • Queen of the Night • The Other Significant Others • Most Ardently • The Reformatory • The Book of Love
Read: 14 (10 audio, 4 print, 3 DNF)
The Other Significant Others (5 stars)- I've been anticipating this one ever since I first heard about it and it didn't disappoint! Not only does it tell the stories of people in close, non-traditional relationships, it also talks about marriage, raising kids, and aging, and it was all incredible. I've recommended this in the tags of so many posts and I need y'all to read it.
Queen of the Night (3 stars) - I've heard this glowingly recommended. I liked the author's story in the Sword, Stone, Table anthology. The events in the book are incredible! I should have been fascinated! But I was so bored! Part of it was that the mystery/thriller element in the description - someone has written an opera based on the main character's scandalous secret past, who could it be? - was extremely oversold, most of the book is recounting said past events, and we don't really dive into the present mystery until the very end. I've read similarly slow books so I don't know why I didn't like this, but I wish I'd dnf'd it. I'd recommend you try The God of Endings by Jacqueline Holland instead.
Vassa in the Night (4 stars) - this one surprised me! It's YA, I've heard pretty mixed reviews, and it's been sitting on my shelf for a while - starting it, the VERy in-your-face YAness almost threw me off but I'm very glad I stuck through it. I live for magic and fairy tales being dumped into modern times, and the really smart thing about this book is that it keeps a very tight focus (no space for the larger worldbuilding to fall apart lol). We've got a morally-grey magical doll companion who's a kleptomaniac and will eat you out of house and home, Baba-Yaga and her 24-hour convenience store on chicken feet, her disembodied hand assistants, weird guy on a motorcycle, and oh yeah, if they catch you stealing they'll put your head on display (and they're not above framing you to do it). Yes this is perfectly normal, why do you ask? I'm not saying it's perfect, but I had such a good time!
And Then There Were None (4 stars) - my first real attempt at Christie! I did enjoy listening to this, enough that I think I'll try some other Christie, but it wasn't entirely to my taste. I prefer having a detective figure in the story to follow, and the "reveal" after was disappointing.
Sorcerer to the Crown (3.5 stars) - this was a reread, and I definitely liked it a lot less for some reason this time? Maybe it was changing formats, but I love a historical fantasy romp and this should have been right up my alley! The True Queen (4 stars) was much more enjoyable, so maybe it was the characters, maybe it was the rereading itself. I think this might be my sign to call it quits with Zen Cho.
I'm Glad My Mom Died (4 stars) - this isn't really one I think I'd have ever picked for myself even though it got popular, except that my book-club friend recommended it. I'm finding that I'm not really one for memoirs, but despite the heartbreaking contents this was very easy to read - largely chronological with short chapters, and the author is clearly aware that things were bad even when her younger self did not. I accidentally started this when I was also reading Fun Home, so that was a lot of bad-parent-memoir at the same time, oops.
Fun Home: A Family Tragicomic (4 stars) - I've been eying this one for a while and am glad to have gotten it on the list for book club! Deeply fascinating, if not always an easy read - the subject on one hand, but the density of the pages, the differences between the comic panels and the narration outside them, and the jumping through time that memoirs do sometimes made events hard to follow. I admit my favorite parts were seeing the different queer books Bechdel slipped into her illustrations (one that I'm reading right now even!).
Arabella of Mars (4.5 stars) - Y'all, we are sleeping on this book, I had so much fun! Here's to girls dressing as boys, sailing ships, steampunk space travel, and vibes straight from early sci-fi adventure novels. I can't believe I forgot about this and am just glad I picked up a copy at the library sale to make myself reread it. I do apologize for thinking this was YA (which it isn't), but further thoughts on that and the rest of the series will have to wait for next month.
Heartstopper Vol 2-4 (5/5/4 stars) - finally! I read part of the comic online ages ago, and read Vol 1 for book club the other month, but I finally got started on the rest of the series. I had definitely read through Vol 2 previously, but everything else was new to me. I had a good time, but Vol 4 was a bit of a(n expected!) downer, and the time jump in the middle ruined the flow a bit for me. I do have Vol 5 in my hands currently, and if I didn't have so many other things to do I'd be tempted to do a big Alice Oseman re/read.
To Marry an English Lord (4 stars) - I encountered this at not one, but TWO unrelated book sales before I caved and bought it. I enjoyed it! It's mostly a sort of overview/reference covering the period around the Gilded Age - the New York upper crust, the European Aristocracy, and the various societal events that lead to a pattern of marital exchange. Did I skim the bits where it just listed name after name after name? Yes, but! Highly recommend to anyone reading romances or general fiction set in the period, I really wish I'd read this before trying The Age of Innocence! (its also very funny how occasionally it makes references that make it very obvious it was written in the 80's lol). Pairs incredibly well with another book I bought at the same sale, The Divorce Colony by April White.
Death in the Spires (3.5 stars) - I love KJ Charles, but I've often felt that her plots and romances can sometimes be at odds - so I was very excited when she said she'd written a mystery! But I'm lukewarm about it at best. The campus novel portions were fascinating, and I'd have loved more of them. But Jem as our narrator just wasn't engaging for most of the book. I wouldn't say it's his fault necessarily, but he's not really a good detective, there are either no clues or they're just going in circles, and the promised attempts on his life just aren't happening. Once we hit the 2/3 mark, where we're on campus, have more characters together, and they're talking - that's when things got good! Maybe this will be be better on a reread, but for now my hopes are for some good fanfic. Would recommend more to the dark academia people rather than mystery fans.
DNF
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Most Ardently (20%) - the vibes were very much, "here's my blorbos, I'm putting them in a Pride and Prejudice AU." Which is great, if that's what you want! It was not what I wanted alas. Biggest cons, the de-ageing of the characters and the generally modern YA/queerness. Pros, they did keep all of the other Bennet sisters! I was so tempted to keep reading just to see how Oliver and Darcy got together, but I knew I wasn't going to enjoy myself. Would have loved to see this presented as an original work rather than an adaptation, or as something hewing closer to the original tone and period of the novel.
The Reformatory (43%) - this was good, really! It's just that I'm only so-so on horror on my best days, and both story lines were sad and dark and depressing. I could have probably handled one or the other, but I wasn't really having a good time (that's not the right phrasing exactly, but you know what I mean). I had other things I wanted to read and it was a long book.
The Book of Love (6%) - I've heard multiple people sing the praises of Kelly Link, so while I wasn't really drawn by the description, I thought I'd give it a shot! I did, and it still didn't draw me in. Maybe I'll give it a try again someday, but I think I'll try her short fiction first.

Saw that post about fic-writing-related questions to ask you and so:
1. What's the word that appears most in your current draft?
2. What's your preferred writing font?
3. Where do you get your inspiration? (And is it possible to learn this power?)
4. What's your favourite place to write?
5. Talk about your writing and editing process
6. What's the most interesting topic you've researched for a fic?
7. How do you recharge when you're not feeling creative?
8. Besides writing, what are your other hobbies?
omg yes, thank you!
I just started something last night but it's only 40 words, so I'm gonna jump over to a more substantial WIP to get a better answer for this one. For chapter 6 of the bigger fic I'm working on, the top three are: Keith, Shiro, and time. (Or if you want to exclude names, time, when, and enough!)
I picked Times New Roman 12pt when I was like... 12, and I never abandoned it.
It jumps around! Over the past year, it's honestly mostly been from reading others' fics! (Which is also why I've gotten more fanatic about using the "Inspired By" feature on AO3 recently, because I fully think it's okay to take inspiration from others, but the other person deserves a little boost in reads too!) In the past, I've pretty exclusively relied on other people giving me prompts, but I had to figure out something else when I desperately wanted to write and there was no outside interest.
This one's probably boring, but I can't stand writing on my phone or a laptop, so I exclusively write at my desktop in my living room.
For writing: 1) Get idea (the hardest part). 2) If it's multi-chapter and I know that from the start, I'm not allowed to write anything until there's a basic outline jotted down. 3) The actual writing: Active writing doc on one monitor, outline on the other (if it's a multi-chapter work where I need to keep track of how the current part interacts with other parts), and Spotify in the background! For editing: I'm awful about it. I'm one of those people who edits as I write even though it frustrates me every time. BUT in exchange, the final editing is a lot easier because I've already edited it during every drafting session. I try to do the editing at the start because then it doubles as me reminding myself what I've already written and might give me ideas for what I want to write in the rest of this session. The final editing session after the writing is done is usually just me googling synonyms for the words I think I overused!
Oh man, I'm sure I'm blanking on something more interesting from further in the past, but a recent one has been the actual timeline for Voltron. Like, I always knew it was set in the future, but I never thought about exactly when since the show seems to be intentionally vague, and I had to dig into fan theories to get a good answer to that. Usually if I need to research something, I'll stick to an overview because I will go overboard if I give my brain half a chance, and a brief overview is usually enough to avoid writing anything completely wrong and immersion-ruining.
Ooh, I switch hobbies for a bit! I used to think you can't really call it a hobby if you don't do it almost every day, but that's a silly idea and I've given it up. If I don't feel like writing, I don't write. Usually, I'll get really into reading again during those times, but I might also go back to playing the guitar or drawing. It doesn't matter what it is, as long as it's fun and it's not writing. I just do that until I feel like writing again. That keeps me from associating writing with being frustrated and upset since I only write when I actively want to.
Oops, kinda went into them above already! But other than those ones, I also obsess over statistics, coding, and general math nerd stuff since those are what I went to college for. There are probably other hobbies, but of course they've all popped out of my head now that I'm trying to think of them!

FMB ch.1 arc.1 part Part 3: worry
point of view: Mikey <-|part three|->
Donnie has been in his room for a long time... he hasn't left, the only time ive seen him leave so far is when he needs to get food or supplies or go to Leo's room. I've tried talking to him but he just pushes me away, recently I've been going to Casey to learn on how to make a portal so maybe we can save Leo and pull him out. I always thought it was cool how he could make a portal whenever he wanted to anywhere he wished. Casey says future me would meditate a lot to harness my powers, he also had a lot of books from Big Mama. if we tried to talk to her now I bet she'd try to kill us or make us fight in the Battle Nexus like the many other times that have happened. and obviously stealing from her is now near impossible with so many guards, not to mention Guss too. Raph has been pretty quiet too, he hasn't spoken a word ever since the whole Kraang incident. Pops has also gotten depressed, he seemed to have lost his appetite... I wonder how April is doing, maybe we'll finally be able to meet her parents after what happened? I've never seen Donnie like this before, he's always muttering things like a madman now.. I dont know if he is going insane or if he is thinking of making some big science-y portal thingy to bring Leo back or a mix of both... or maybe he- "Michelangelo!" I hear Casey snap me out of my thoughts, I jump slightly* "I didn't do it!" I yell instinctively "what..?" "oops... sorry old habit when Raph would catch me sneaking around.. uhm... what happened?" "I dont think you were paying attention to what I was saying, I was talking about how in the future, you did specific movements and specific signs to do different things, like opening a portal and...-" I feel myself not wanting to pay attention again, is following instructions this boring?? does he expect me to remember all of this!? how does Donnie even manage, he memorizes whole entire 600 step blueprints! and I cant even survive following a few instructions on how to open portals.. I bet if Leo was here he'd just throw some dumb excuse and portal away...

AO3 Link
Zeep. "Zonic."
The aforementioned Zone Cop was his home zone, the No Zone- a place 90 degrees to the side of everywhere else in the multiverse. Why, you might ask? He was bored.
"-Gah! Why does the alert sound exactly like an alarm clock?"
"Never mind that. We have an unplanned zone breach into the Prime Zone. That's your area of expertise, think you can handle it?"
The Prime Zone was the name of the zone that the one and true Sonic, Sonic Prime, resided in. It was the zone that all others stemmed from. Which also meant it was a hot item- something that the Zone Cops, the inhabitants of the No Zone dedicated to maintaining the right balance of order and chaos in the multiverse, had to defend.
"Well, who am I dealing with? You know this would be much easier if I had access to the logs myself." Zonic began putting his heavier gear on; it was obvious he was going to go out into the field.
"Nice try. Ivana Robotina, Luna Zone. Currently engaged in combat with Sonic Prime."
Zonic swore under his breath. Sonic Prime!? That threw a wrench into things. Now Zonic needed to try and make sure Prime didn't notice his interference while still detaining the threat. Through gritted teeth, he responded to his superior before cutting the communication line.
"Consider that problem solved. Over."
Now, he can't very well go up to Dr. Robotina and fight her alongside Sonic. Although that would be pretty fun. Ideally, Prime inhabitants were to never know of the Zone Cops' existence. It was far too risky. Although this was the first breach into Prime in a good while, not counting the ones Zonic had a hand in himself. The Ultimate Annihilator incident, or the UA event as it was being called now, was facilitated by the higher ups. But it seemed to be causing a whole lot of side effects.
Right. Back to the current problem. Zoop!
A bit of dimensional alteration here and there, and boom. Sally Moon, the sworn enemy of Dr. Robotina, along with Chibi Rose, had just gotten teleported to the Prime Zone through her scepter, and none were the wiser. None, that is, except Zonic. But that's a given.
"Oops- almost forgot one."
And in another flash of light back with our hero, (Sonic the Hedgehog, fellows. Don't forget.) a flying rose pierced the enchantress, and vanquished her with a flourish. That, of course, was thrown by none other than tuxedo Knuckles.
"I trust that you're okay, Princess?" Tuxedo Knuckles held Sally Moon in his arms.
"Now that you're here Tuxedo Knux..." She was this close to swooning.
"WHAT?!" And it seemed like the Hero of Mobius had finally came to his senses. And he was not happy with what was going on.
"Well, there's your cue, officer. It's probably not a good idea to revel yourself like this- but then again, it's also not a good idea to leave things as they are now."
Weighing the options, Zonic teleported himself over to Prime. Hopefully they wouldn't be too freaked out by his whole- sideways thing.
"Wow, Sonic. Way to interrupt a tender moment."
Yeah, he was gonna try not to freak anyone out. Didn't mean he couldn't also have some fun.
"WHAT'S GOING ON HERE?!"
Ah. A good first reaction.
"Not to leave you hanging, Prime, but-" Zonic warped away the three visitors before turning back to Sonic once more, smirk still firm on his muzzle. "Duty called."
"Alright sideways wise guy, I want answers. Now!"
"Sure, kid! I'm from a sideways zone. The No Zone. And it's my job to make sure everything's running smoothly. Nobody gets into places they're not supposed to."
Sonic crossed his arms at the officer, who was significantly taller than Sonic in his clothes.
"Yeah, right! I've been to plenty of zones, and nobody's stopped me-"
"On the contrary, I sent you there."
"WHAT?!!"
Wow, he sure was using that line a lot.
"Come on, Sonic. Think. You thought portals would just pop out of nowhere? Zoop-" He snapped his fingers. "And there you were, wherever you were needed? When you went to the Special Zone, when you met your evil counterpart, when you've travelled through the cosmic interstate, and all the other times you've helped out? That's not just dumb luck, Sonic. Getting to the right time and place is a feat in and of itself."
The blue hedgehog stood there for a while, mouth agape.
"...Wow. That's a lollapalooza of a doozy. You mean to tell me if I hadn't gone to those zones-"
"Lots of bad stuff woulda' come down. I know. You can thank me later, though. I'm on a schedule."
"B-but why always me? Why not send someone else, or heck- do it yourself?" Sonic tried to ask Zonic his questions before the officer had entered a portal he just created.
Zonic grinned, and flicked the other hedgehog's nose.
"Because you're Sonic Prime. The one true Sonic of every dimension. Destined to save the multiverse and a whole lotta other stuff you don't care about. Chao."
And without letting Sonic get in another word, Zonic hopped into his portal and it closed behind him.
"Woah..."
Sonic looked out into the distance for a good while, before responding to nothing.
"Oh, yeah? Well, a whole lotta good that's doing me!"

I’m Bored and Anxious So I Slapped Together a List of Fan Fic Writer Asks
6. Are there any fics from others you reread all the time?
Or
25. Have you ever upset yourself with your own writing?
6. Are there any fics from others you reread all the time?
absolutely! hold on, let me grab some links <3 - morning glory by cringewerewolf (wangxian, post-canon, h/c) - Splendid Googly-eyed Fish by MonroeKnox (tianxi, modern setting, zzl focused) - wicked games by tagteamme (ranwan, modern setting, angst) - under this honey lake of sky by feralhypertext (ranwan, modern with cultivation, arranged marriage) - Absolute Zero by jitterati (ranwan, pacific rim au) - Troika by nirejseki (3zun, dream sharing, canon divergence) - Celebrate The Irony by zarduhasselfrau (klavquill, post-dual destinies, slow burn) there's more but yeah mainly those! i really love long ranwan fics 🥰
25. Have you ever upset yourself with your own writing?
not really? i mean there are times i've been deep in a character's head and gotten emotional but these bad boys are all chess pieces to me. i just move 'em around. i think the closest i've gotten to being actually upset by my own writing was something that i can't find in my writing tag on tumblr and i never posted to ao3 oops!! here's the link (tlj & zzl zombie au) it wasn't the content of the ficlet itself that made me upset, it was just that i was thinking a lot about zzl dying in that specific au and i became sad :(

Tagged by the wonderful @rayadraws!
1. How many works do you have on AO3? 70
2. What's your total AO3 word count?
710,529
3. What fandoms do you write for?
One Punch Man, Marvel. Formerly BTVS.
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
" - 2,391 kudos "Natural" - 2,448 kudos "5+7" - 3,341 kudos "Milkyway" - 4,601 kudos "Salvaged" - 6,567
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
Oh yes! But i have a habit that tends to backfire on me... I'll respond to all comments for a while and then after a couple weeks I'll stop responding because I want to finish a chapter first.... this is fine except sometimes by the time I let myself respond to all those old comments it's been like.... 5 years. LOL. But I really do like to reply to every single one.
6. What is a fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
The Distance Between Us
7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Sugar & Spice
8. Do you get hate on fics?
Lmfao. Surprisingly rarely! I've maybe gotten two actual hate comments on my more spicy account. I've gotten more hate comments for making Saitama transmasc, but not by much. But like... I didn't make him transmasc anyway, it just happened. But yeah if people are whiny little bitches and I just roast them and then delete their comment because that doesn't fly for me, especially the transphobic weirdos.
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
Hell yeah. Ummm I like it when the weiners touch 👉👈
Actually lemme see. On my main account, my top tags are kind of all over the place. Mainly fluffy stuff, dirty talk. On my secret second account we'll get better results.... Watersports/Urination - obviously. Anal sex - duh, but boring. Dubious consent - spicy. Felching - MM. 🙏 Male lactation - MILK. HIM. 💦
10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?
Only "Now Recruiting", which still gets a lot of love tbh. It's about the Avengers trying to recruit Saitama, which isn't too crazy. Fun though!
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
WOOF. I hope not. The sites that scrape fics are scary.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Oh yeah 💜 I love my international fans, and I always say yes when someone asks to translate. I just ask that they remember to link up with mine!
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
My memory is bad but I really don't think so. I don't play well with others >.< Also why I have turned down RP requests every time.
14. What's your all-time favorite ship?
Wade/Nate. It might have hibernated for years, but it came back with a vengeance when it came back. But any ship I've written for, it's gotta be a hyperfixation for me, so I promise I love them all.
15. What's a wip you want to finish, but doubt you ever will?
[Redacted]. But I'm not sure it's that I never will - it's that I think I overshot my ending and I actually need to hack it back a little and just end the fic. The way I kept going, it would've added another small arc to the fic that made it end on a sad note. And That, I'd probably never finish. The fic is old enough though that even thinking about opening it up to do that makes me cringe.
Secondary: Salvaged. But don't panic! It's not that I'll never finish it, it's that I will but still not any time soon. ;; It'll be a lot of work to open it up again and finish it. I wanna finish some other projects first, including new ones (oops). But I don't feel 'cringe' about opening it again. Just a loooottt of files to sift through.
16. What are your writing strengths?
I'm told my dialogue is amazing. I think it's because I enjoy practicing the lines, over and over again, and pacing everything out to make sure it sounds like something the character would actually say, and somewhat flow in real time.
I'm also quite lucky at being able to have details fall into place in really interesting ways. So that thing that seems elaborately planned out, who knows, lol. It's sort of half elaborately planned and half happy coincidence.
People also tell me that I manage to capture their imagination and especially their emotions. 🫶
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
Finishing. Haha. I'll either catch stage fright if something gets really popular (especially if there's a sex scene, oop) or I'll get bogged down with things needing to be perfect, or a secret third thing - I get really attached and don't want to end the AU because then I worry I'll forget it exists.
Memory problems. Returning to a fic is harder because even after a month I don't remember what happened. And if I'm going without writing for any period of time I feel like I forget who I am as a writer completely. Sometimes I really can't understand who wrote a fic of mine, because it doesn't feel like it was me.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?
Ummmmm I do this very sparingly because I know that google translate is very flawed and I'm not fluent in any other language. Sometimes a little bit of french or spanish has been appropriate for a Deadpool fic, but not full dialogue.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
Buffy The Vampire Slayer <3 I didn't include that in my fic count tho.... I don't dare go back to That Place, even just to look (FF.net)
20. Favorite fic you've written?
I'm gonna have to break it up by ship otherwise this ain't even fair--
"Hello, Handsome" - Cablepool - it's just soooo creative and fun! and COMPLETE! "5+7" - Genosai - another really fun one, emotional ups and downs but ultimately soooo fluffy and nice and one of those fics that changed my life. Almost done! "Yours" - Skirth/Agony - a rare f/f pairing but I really enjoyed writing them <333 COMPLETE "Milkyway" - Eddie/Symbiote - can something be a fluffy family fic AND really dirty filthy kinky at the same time? Apparently, somehow. COMPLETE.
Tagging @aeriamamaduck @pohjanneito and @theomnicode!

Cats or dogs? Do you like steven universe? I haven't actually gotten the motivation to watch it, but I've watched lots of clips on YouTube and it inspired a series of daydreams where there's a spell that allows a human and a witch to fuse like gems do. Now I've got this fusion of Caleb and Evelyn called Cinnamon in my head. What do think of amphibia? (Same situation as steven universe for me)
How did you learn about The Owl House? For me it was clips on YouTube and unexpected motivation.
• I'm a cat mom. I've always loved cats and there's nothing they can do to make me hate them. I'm definitely more of a cat person but I adore doggos a lot too!! One of my friends has a golden retriever and he's just 🥺💕🥺💕🥺 i love him very much. I also really loved the family dog of my host family in Italy - he was such a sweetheart 🥺
• I'm in the same situation as you when it comes to Steven Universe. Heard of it, saw clips and fanart of it, actually had "Other Friends" stuck in my head at one point, but never sat down to actually watch it. Oops
• I LOVE Amphibia!! After TOH it is my favorite newer Disney show! Granted Season 1 is a bit boring now as I'm rewatching it, knowing what awaits in Season 2 and 3 but it's still so great! The humor in that show, the plot, the characters, the lore, the fun and pain, the everything 💚
• TOH was just... suddenly on my fyp on Instagram alongside with Amphibia while I was still predominantly in the ATLA fandom (I'm still in the fandom but if you noticed, I've been seriously inactive in it). I saw people liking it and I thought I'd give it a shot. Not much to do during Covid-lockdown anyway and here we are now.

Ooh yay! Thanks for the ask! I think I copied these all over correctly. I was bored so I went in-depth 😂 Here we go:
1. Do you prefer writing one-shots or multi-chaptered fics?
I've been sitting here for like 5 minutes trying to figure out which I prefer 😂. I find myself coming up with multi-chapter ideas more often I think, really grand plots that I definitely don't have time to devote attention to. I also run into the problem of not knowing how to fill in between the parts that I do I have ideas for, so true multi-chapter fics are a rarity. I've had a few times where a one-shot turned into a multi chap, and THOSE tend to work better and are way more cohesive. One of my favorites is one I wrote for Star Wars (wrong blog, oops 😅) but both chapters were a lot stronger than my usual stuff, and it performed way better on AO3 which was really gratifying.
I've always wanted to write a true masterpiece where readers are anxiously awaiting the next chapter, like so many I've read, but I don't know if I've ever gotten there yet. Maybe a few when I used to write NCIS stuff on fanfiction.net.
4. Where do you find inspiration for new ideas?
Songs, a lot of times. They hit me in the feels. Sometimes a line in a fic I'm reading will spark an idea, something I haven't thought about, a new interpretation of an existing scene from the source material. Gifsets, Tumblr meta analysis, movies I'm watching. So many places. I feel like half of them come to me when I'm at work, which is very inconvenient. The aforementioned Star Wars two-shot was half written on the bus ride home from work in the notes app on my phone. I've written several in the aftermath of particularly good or bad episodes/movies. Fix-it fanfic is always great, I feel like I need to write more of it.
13. What’s a common writing tip that you almost always follow?
I haven't done this for very long, but lately in my adulthood (as opposed to my teenage fics *shudders*) I've actually been pretty good about writing out an outline and going back to edit later. I used to just spew everything in a word doc and barely go through it before posting, but now I reread it to death, mostly to make sure it flows well. My outlines are, shall we say, extensive. The Star Wars fic I'm working on now had 20 chapters outlined and it totaled over 20,000 words. I've basically storyboarded the whole thing and then I go through and convert that to actual scenes. Important dialogue moments I want to hit are included, cause I know I'll forget them if I don't write them as they come to me. It helps me to be able to see the big picture, so that I don't give up on the project halfway through. But for spur of the moment fics or most one-shots, I still mostly write as I go. Occasionally if I have a thought that I want to make sure to include in a later scene, I'll just tack it on at the bottom of the doc and delete it once I get to that point and I put it in writing.
16. How many fic ideas are you nurturing right now? Share one of them.
They're scattered all over the place so that's a good question that God probably only knows the answer to. Some are barely even ideas but take up a line or two in my notes app on my phone. Some probably live only in my brain, forgotten until something triggers me to remember that I was thinking of writing it 😅.
I'd love to do something with @irish-trish 's prompt to fill in the scene from NCIS "She mentioned you at the funeral, I could see what she felt." It sounds right up my alley, but there's a Star Wars fic week coming up in September that I want to actually do on time this year, so I can't allow myself to shift focus to NCIS quite yet 😭
Other than that, I want to write a second chapter to my X-Files fic "Field of Dreams" where Mulder gets to play catch with his son. I really loved writing that fic.
22. Are there certain types of writing you won’t do? (style, pov, genre, tropes, etc)
Nothing spicy. I don't think I'd ever write in first person unless it was in the form of a letter. Other than that, I think I'd do pretty much whatever. It's just a matter of what I have the skills for I think 😂
Not a fan of AUs, except canon divergence, obviously. To me, the way the characters meet is so integral to who they are that it can't be changed much or it just doesn't feel like them. I've read maybe one fic that changed how characters met (Mulder and Scully) but that was the result of time travel and all sorts of things that warmed me up to the idea, plus the characters as we know them were still there. Alternate universe in the truest sense. I got distracted, what were we talking about?
25. What fic do you wish you got more of a response on?
The two fics I think of as my comfort fics, ones I found really peaceful and natural to write, would have been nice to see get more attention. I've been writing on and off for like a decade now (😳) and I've only ever really had one fic truly pop off in terms of kudos and comments. Which are literally my life blood 😂. But a lot of my older stuff I look back on and I'm like, yeah, that wasn't that great.
My Star Wars (Obi-Wan and Satine) one shot "this could be such a dream" I found really emotional and relaxing to write. I was kind of surprised it didn't go very far, but it was part of a weekly challenge thing so I suppose it makes sense in a way.
To get back to the TV shows I write for, though (since that's the focus or THIS blog), I really really loved my X-Files fic "Field of Dreams", in large part because I love that movie which inspired it, and I love a domestic, peaceful and content-if-not-happy happily ever after for Mulder and Scully. The movie itself makes me cry and feel so many feels, and I thought the connection to Fox Mulder was a really good one.
40. If someone were to make fanart of your work, what fic or scene would you hope to see?
I would welcome anythinggggg, that is my dream!! I haven't really written anything I'm super proud of yet in the NCIS fandom that I feel would warrant art, but maybe someday! I'm working on a Star Wars "Sound of Music" type looooong fic rn and boy, the amount of work I've put in, I would die if someone were engaged enough to be inspired by it.
54. What’s your favorite part about the fanfiction writing process?
Honestly, I get so excited to post it. I hope people will enjoy what I've written. I've read so much great fanfic, that I just want to contribute my 2 cents to the fandoms. Getting comments (as rare as it often is) literally makes my day and makes it all worthwhile to me. Any form of engagement, interaction here on Tumblr, that's what I strive for. But I also write for me. Exploring ideas I've never seen done before, filling in gaps in the fandom, I love it. Those comfort fics I was talking about, I love to just go back and read. It doesn't really matter, in the end, if they touched other people like they do me. I like them and that's what matters. The fics I'm not so proud of? I've been transferring them over from Tumblr and fanfiction.net anyway because some of them have received really lovely comments and people might enjoy them despite how I feel.
56. What’s something about your writing that you pride yourself on?
I hope I'm improving on descriptive language. I want to bring out emotions in my writing, and I think there's been definite improvement since I started. I'm also thankful that I have a grasp on grammar and spelling and all the typical writing conventions. That can be a turn off to a lot of readers if it's a complete mess, so luckily I was always a pretty harsh editor throughout my schooling 😅

20 questions for fic writers
Tagged by @wellhalesbells like forever ago oops! I'm bored sooooo...
How many works do you have on ao3? 305
What's your total ao3 word count? 820,385
What fandoms do you write for?
I feel like I don't write much anymore, but currently it's been BTS (not a lot but a couple things). But Teen Wolf, Supernatural, Hockey RPF/Check Please were like the mains, but I've done a handful of others (sometimes one-offs) for other fandoms.
Top five fics by kudos:
El Tango de Amor, DeanCas, Supernatural. (3,412 kudos)
One Night Pancakes, Sterek, Teen Wolf. (3,407 kudos)
Green Means Go (and Sex), Sterek, Teen Wolf. (2,588 kudos)
For My Flesh Had Turned to Fur, and My Thoughts Had Turned to You, Sterek, Teen Wolf. (2,540 kudos)
I Need a Hug, Sterek, Teen Wolf. (2,154 kudos)
Do you respond to comments?
Yes. I always respond though sometimes it takes me A WHILE. I get the comments in my email but sometimes it takes me a bit to actually go into AO3 to respond, especially if I haven't written anything recently. But I do try to respond to everyone (though sometimes it's tough when it's just like an emoji? Like what do you reply to that? lmao).
What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
I always try to have happy endings tbh or at the very least hopeful/open endings? So I can't really think of any?
What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Again most of my fics I try to have a happy ending so I'm not sure what would be the "happiest"?
Do you get hate on fics?
Not really which I'm very grateful for. I have gotten some rude comments a handful of times but they are VERY rare. I think I'm not popular enough to get hate which I'm very OK with LOL.
Do you write smut?
Yes though it's tough for me so I don't write it a ton.
Craziest crossover:
I've done a couple Supernatural/Teen Wolf crossovers but that's about it and I feel like they're in the same genre so it's not too crazy?
Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not that I know of?
Have you ever had a fic translated?
A few yes!
Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Haha nothing published. I think I've attempted to co-write one a couple times with a few different people but it always stalled out and never got finished.
All time favorite ship?
Oh man. I mean Dean/Cas and Derek/Stiles will always have a special place in my heart forever.
What's a wip you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
Bahah just check out my abandoned WIPs those are all the ones I've accepted I will never finish. The others... I still haven't given up hope so I won't say never. (One that still haunts me that I have mostly plotted out the last chapter is Just Part of the Game and I still haven't given up on it.)
What are your writing strengths?
I think I'm pretty good at dialogue. It's my favorite thing to write especially if it's kind of characters bantering.
What are your writing weaknesses?
I am terrible at descriptions of like setting/surroundings. I often have to go back and add them in while editing because I realized I haven't really shown what the scene is because I've forgotten to describe it.
Thoughts on dialogue in another language?
Meh. I've done it a few times but I do appreciate having a translation of it handy either in a kind of linked footnote or something? Otherwise I'm clueless haha.
First fandom you wrote in?
Supernatural
Favorite fic you've written?
I feel like I have a lot of favorite short fics but I think my most recent ones would have to be Paradise in an Endless Maze (Jungkook/Jimin, BTS) mostly bc it's now my longest posted fic ever and I wrote it in a month, and Our Cat (Kang Yohan/Kim Gaon, The Devil Judge) bc it's what I would've wanted for the ending of that show.

I'm getting back into Tekken 8 and I'm really enjoying it. Finally got a feel for every character and who I like. Highlights from the past couple of days:
Lili is way more fun than I thought she would be! Very slippery and evasive.
Lars is actually kinda cool? He feels kinda hard to control, but where most Tekken characters can feel pretty stiff and slow if you don't know what you're doing, Lars is the opposite. It's super easy to actually move around TOO much with him and get carried away and end up in a bad spot. I do feel like mastering him would be like mastering lightning, it makes me appreciate him a lot more. Always thought he looked kinda boring.
King still does not click for me. I think he's a cool character, but I would need to sit down and watch a dedicated guide to really make him work I think. And since there's only so much tekken knowledge my brain can handle per day, I'd rather focus that energy on a character I know I'll stick with.
Devil Jin is my favorite Mishima by a mile. He's got a lot of moves that let him close or create distance from the opponent very quickly. Honestly a solid contender for a main, although I don't particularly want to practice electrics over and over for my first main. Might keep him in mind if my current main doesn't live up to the hype.
Yoshimitsu is stupid fun and I love him. The sword pogo reigns supreme. Might pick him up as a pocket character. But I think I've figured out who my main is:
Eddy is so fuckin fun. I'm glad he's not as braindead as in T3 (the only other game in the series I've played), because it gives me more incentive to think a bit about my strategy. And Eddy's game plan seems really simple: dodge around, wait for an opening, get a (relatively low-risk) 50/50 setup off a quick move, and then win the 50/50. Or use back 4 (I call it THE BOOT) to force your way in. Oh and also he builds up a resource that gives him stronger handstand moves while he does all of that. Which lead to more low-risk, high reward situations. He's so cool and I am going to commit to him for now.
(Realizing now as I'm typing this, I haven't actually played Jun. Oops.)
And now that I've got a feel for these characters, I've actually started the story mode (I'm recording it for youtube as well, might link once it's done if anybody is interested) and it's very fun. Major T8 story spoilers below:
Kinda glad Zafina and Claudio died? I didn't want to play much of them. I mean I think they're neat characters and it's sad to see them go, but it's interesting to see Tekken go from this series where nobody stays dead to a series that can actually embrace the consequences of its own plot. Like, Heihachi didn't come back for T8, so I wouldn't be surprised if those two didn't come back for T9. I've only just gotten past the first True Devil Kazuya fight (that Azazel fight was NASTY btw, I had to retry that several times), so maybe there's more character deaths incoming. It's so wild to see this game take on the dynamic of a show like Walking Dead or Game of Thrones, no character feels truly safe. Hell, Kazuya could die at the end of this game for all I know. He definitely has it coming, if that is the case. It is absolutely wild to me that he beats Azazel though??? Like, that's the source of his power. That'd be like a paladin being able to 1v1 the god they get spells from.
Anyways now that I'm back on my tekken bullshit, I'm excited to play more. :D

That tattoo is so good omg!! I've been wanting to get another one for so long, but I don't know what I'd get quite just yet!!
Ajdhhdd literally I looked at Saccharina and my brain just went "OOP, favorite character" but also like. As a lesbian, gooey was just 👀👀👀 (sorry if that's TMI or anything!)
That is such a good line!! Ally is so funny to me- the pure indignation they put into that line and others when it comes to Preston's unfortunate demise was always so great. Also, I love that they constantly try to cover different aspects of the queer experience!
Oooof, Mormonism is rough. I grew up in a predominantly Mormon town (as in, more Mormons per Capita than Salt lake city) and most of my friends growing up were Mormon. All of the architecture in the temples and stuff looked (from the outside, at least. I was obviously never allowed inside) so sterile! I can't imagine that. What did you do during the 3 hours of church?? Because catholic mass is only like an hour and as a kid I got so bored I wouldn't pay attention at all.
I would literally just study all the gargoyles/angels/faces in general carved into the walls and ceiling, as well as the stained glass windows and statues. My brother and I got into trouble a few times because neither of us paid attention 😂 one time, we both stood up because our grandparents and most people around us stood up, and we didn't understand why our grandparents kept frantically trying to get us to sit down until the priest started talking about how all the married couples in the church were standing 😂😂 (it was valentine's day).
AaAAAAA I'm literally so excited!!!! I've been on a FOB kick lately! What are some of your favorite songs by them?
I wish I could do that 😭 I work nights (7 days where I work 12-hour shifts and then I have 7 days off) and Wednesdays are my Mondays and Fridays, so I'm usually sleeping most of the day!! But once I'm at work, I'm absolutely gonna be juggling both to the best of my ability!
- 🪐
thanks! it was my first, and it's the only one i've gotten so far that hasn't aged terribly lmfao
"another?" mind if i ask about your current tattoo situation? (no worries, of course, if you'd rather not)
i've been so thirsty for so many npcs on this blog, being into gooey is so far from tmi lol
i love ally so much. it's a little bit headcanon-y, but i think that, with timothy, they've now had a character that is L G B and T (i choose to believe pete is bi) and, of course, ace icon liam wilhelmina.
oof that's a fuckin lot of mormons
i've only been inside temples a few times (i started dating a non-member and therefore was unworthy to enter any more), and i left entirely before i could do any of the Really Culty Stuff, but trust me, the inside is even more sterile looking than the outside. everything is white and beige and boring as all hell.
iirc they changed it to 2 hours a few years back (now they alternate doing what used to be the second and third hours), but the 3 hour system was:
the first hour was essentially mass. everyone in one room, getting preached at, sacrament (rebranded communion), singing songs.
the second hour was sunday school. idk how the adults split up, maybe it was one big class? i left when i was 17. but the kids were split up by age, each group had a teacher, and we studied different parts of the scriptures and sometimes church history.
the third hour was essentially 5 separate second, smaller versions of the first hour, separated by age and gender (everyone under 12, 12-17 boys, 12-17 girls, adult men, adult women), but without the sacrament.
it was fucking terrible lmao
holy shit that's hilarious 😂 i was always too Anxious to cause trouble, but my brothers definitely did a lot of jumping up on the seats and making noise
oh goodness um. of all the gin joints and thks fr th mmrs for sure. dance dance goes without saying. also my songs know what you did in the dark.
the entirety of american beauty/american psycho fucks HARD.
i'm not good at picking favorite songs, clearly lmao
that's a fucking killer schedule my god D:

here we gooo
1: what are 3 things you’d say shaped you into who you are?
1. hmm okay definitely my parents (not always in a positive way but hey they ran my whole life as a child so it's hard not to be shaped by that) 2. creative hobbies, especially writing and music. they allowed me room to feel and explore and express and just have somewhere private that I didn't need to worry about messing up in an irredeemable way while I worked through my thoughts 3. tbh I have to credit tumblr as hilarious as I find this for two opposing reasons: this is where I started to see people's life experiences that weren't the same as mine and understand how varied the human experience is, AND where I found people's life experiences that were similar to mine that I could find community a feeling of belonging with
3: 3 films you could watch for the rest of your life and not get bored of?
I don't tend to watch movies that much but rewatch shows allll the time. this list is highly subject to change depending on the day but let's go with: 1. what happened to monday 2. 20,000 leagues under the sea 3. coherence
33: any hobbies?
oh so many hobbies, let me count the ways... but for real I need hobbies to survive and I love learning new things. so some of these I've gotten into for a few weeks before moving on and others have been (and will continue to be) life-long adventures. I'm just going to start listing: music!! I've played piano, a variety of mallet and auxiliary percussion, recorder (lol), violin, trumpet, and flute. I still play the piano every day but won't be able to starting next week bc I'm moving, so I decided I want to learn to play the harp next and I'm super excited for it!!! wow that reads more like a paragraph than a list oops, anyway other hobbies include sewing, writing, crochet, painting, I tried vector art for a bit, gardening (harder in an apartment), plant parenting (easier in an apartment), baking, and home canning. those are the ones that come to mind anyway!
40: any bad habits?
probably a lot that I don’t realize (who’s going to tell me) but off the top of my head I’m bad at doing dishes right away. I’m a little better with hand-wash dishes but dishwasher stuff... yeah idk why but it’s just not! that easy! even though it should be! I do make an effort to not let them get gross though, I’ll at least rinse something if it’s messy. I also crack my knuckles and my spine which some people say is a bad habit but I don’t think it’s a big deal. and like all creators of any kind I do sometimes lose interest in projects partway through and delay them or abandon them completely. but I think that’s less of a bad habit and more of the ~creative process~ so... yeah let’s stick with that 😅
questions I think it would be fun to be asked

“Sweetheart, you’re perfect just the way you are”
I may have gotten a bit carried away, oops~
--♡--
You may not see very well, but your hearing certainly isn't as bad at all. You hear them talk. You know what they think of you, and most of all your friendship with Jeon Jungkook, Gym coach and the world's crush it seems.
'she probably can't even see him, with how blind she is.'
You can see him- kind of. He makes it a joke to put his face super close to yours just to get you flustered- but truth be told, that's only because you can see him best when he's up close like that.
'she's so clingy. Why is she so weird?'
You're actually not even that clingy- he is. He constantly takes you out to do stuff, random things and trips, buys you stuff, eats out with you- he always texts first, calls you often, chats for hours when you don't have time to hang out in person.
'he probably hangs out with her out of pity. What a sweetheart he is.'
In truth, you dont know either why he hangs out with you. Theres way more interesting, pretty, and cooler hybrids to hang out with than you- the trashbear, as you're always called. You're boring, you can't keep up with him when he's working out, you constantly trip and run into things due to your poor vision, and the only talent you have is the ability to inhale 20 chicken nuggets in record time. There's no reason for a toned, agile and attractive guy like him to hang out with you-
But he does.
You're sitting on one of the benches in the entrance of the gym, swinging your legs a bit when you can hear the familiar steps of him approaching. Your hearing makes up for your poor sight- you can tell just by the sound of his shoes that it's him. "There's my cuddle-bear!" he teases, approaching you from behind to hug you on the bench before you can stand up.
"Ju-ngkookie~!" you whine, and he laughs as he let's go, instantly taking your hand as you both leave the gym, people around already chuckling.
You remember how you met- you, tripping over his gym bag and splitting open your knee, ending with him carefully placing a bandaid on it and apologizing for about sixteen times, stuttering the entire time.
You'd thought he'd only ask for your number out of politeness- but then you'd told him you've not been in seoul for long, and that the big city scares you, and soon enough he'd made it his mission to make you fall in love with it instead of fearing the capital. You still think it's scary-
But it's better when he's around.
"I've packed the car already, guess who bought the big marshmallows!" he excitedly tells you, swinging your hands like a kid, making you giggle. "Oh- careful." he says, pulling you closer before his hand leaves yours, instead wrapping around your shoulders to better maneuver you through the crowds outside. "let's hope it won't be too cold at night. The weather forecast changed to rain tonight." he chatters on, and you just shrug, as you find his car parked neatly. "ah, I also packed the blanket you forgot at my place last time. Forgot to wash it though.." he mumbles, and you want to say that it's fine, because that means it smells like him- but that would be weird, no?
In the car, it's filled with his karaoke voice, lots of snack breaks, and finally, you falling asleep next to him while he brings you safely to your destination- a camping spot, far away from the city's neon lights and nightlife, just the two of you.
You sleepily help him assemble the tent, a lot more helpful and eager now that it's dark, and you've also always been best eith your hands- so you're of good help, making him smile brightly.
And later, when you lay on the mattress in your respective sleeping bags, he suddenly scoots closer, closer, closer- the tip of his nose almost touching yours, his chuckling breath hitting your cheeks as he grins. "W-what?" you mumble into the quietness of the tent, and he just shrugs, still smiling.
"nothing." he answers cheekily, eyes dropping to your lips. "say, if I was to kiss you right now.." he mumbles now, before looking at you again with sparkling eyes. It's dark- how can they still look like he holds the galaxy inside them? "..would you kiss me back?" he wonders, and you stutter, before you shrink in on yourself a little, hiding away.
"uh.. I mean.. I.. Why?" you ask, and he reaches out with his finger to pull down the edge of the sleeping bag that's hiding the lower half of your face- brushing over your bottom lip, if by accident or not you dont know.
"because I like you." he says, as if it's the most obvious thing ever. "and I think you like me too." he says, hopefully so, a hint of uncertainty tainting his voice.
"But.." you protest weakly. "..I'm weird, and I don't do sports, and I'm lazy, and clumsy-" you ramble, but his finger places itself onto your lips.
"sweetheart, you're perfect just the way you are." he says. "I mean it." he urges, and you suddenly lean forward, pecking his lips, feeling the metal of his lip ring for a second-
Before you roll over, hiding in your sleeping bag completely.
All while Jungkook grins so much his cheeks hurt, soon convincing you that sharing is caring-
And he cares a lot about you, as he holds you close to him inside his sleeping bag, dreaming of the future ahead.

pairing: Kuroo Tetsurou x fem! reader
rating/warnings: swearing, angst (?)
synopsis: You knew that living with your three best friends, Kuroo, Oikawa, and Bokuto, would be a wild ride. It’s never a dull moment with those three. Let’s just hope you can keep your huge crush on Kuroo a secret when he is only a room away.
a/n: hi friends✨i hope you all are doing well:)) just a friendly reminder to eat something today and stay hydrated 💕 as always, my inbox is open for anything and everything so feel free to reach out:) and the taglist for this fic is still open if you’d like to join✨ okay, enjoy xx
Five: best friends
“Okay do you have all your bags?” You asked. Bokuto nodded, holding a backpack and small suitcase.
“Yes Y/N.”
“And your phone? And your pillow, because I know you hate hotel ones. And-“
“Y/N calm down you’re going into ’mom mode’,” said Kuroo. You rolled your eyes.
“I just wanna make sure he has a good trip.”
“Akaashi will take care of him, don't worry,” smiled Kuroo.
“Do you not want me to have a good trip?” pouted Oikawa. You put your arm around him and smiled.
“Oikawa, I wouldn’t mind if you didn’t come back.” You joked.
“I fucking hate you,” he growled, pushing you away. You laughed and ruffled his hair.
“I love you both okay, now get out of here, Iwa and Akaashi are probably already outside,” you smiled. The four of you gathered for a group hug. Oikawa was off to his mini getaway with Iwa and Bokuto was joining Akaashi for his writers conference. The apartment would be just you and Kuroo.
“Hey, Y/N,” called Bokuto. He pulled you aside and whispered something in your ear.
“Remember what I told you.”
You sighed, remembering well what Bokuto had told you those days ago. You nodded.
“Farewell my lovely apartment! You two better not burn the place down while I’m gone,” said Oikawa.
“No promises,” smiled Kuroo. He pushed Oikawa out the door as Bokuto followed.
“Bye you two, we love you!” You cheered. Kuroo shut the door behind Oikawa and Bokuto, leaving you alone with him.
“You act like they’re never coming back,” laughed Kuroo.
“Not my fault I’ll miss them. I don’t remember the last time I went more than a week without them,” you explained. Kuroo nodded.
“Wanna grab some food after class?” Asked Kuroo. Your face felt warm.
“Uh yeah that sounds good.” You and Kuroo both had a lecture together today for your marketing course.
“Just give me 10 minutes and we can head to class,” you said. Kuroo nodded. You went inside your room and saw that Oikawa had left something on your bed. You picked it up and it read: “I suggest you use this before it expires”. You turned the card over, and saw that it was a coupon for 10% off a purchase at Party City. You groaned and threw the card away.
“Dickhead,” you mumbled.
“Who, me?” said Kuroo. You jumped.
“Kuroo oh my god you have to stop sneaking up on me like that,” you ordered. Kuroo laughed and sat down on your bed.
“Hurry up I don’t wanna be late.” You sighed and grabbed your jacket and shoes from your closet and slipped them on.
“Fine then let’s go.”
~
You and Kuroo walked a couple blocks to campus. Your lecture hall wasn’t too far away.
“A 3 hour lecture never gets easier,” you sighed. Kuroo patted your shoulder.
“Come on Y/N, don’t you just love getting all that knowledge thrown at you.” You rolled your eyes.
“Marketing is boring, even a nerd like you could agree,” you joked.
“Okay fair,” smiled Kuroo. The two of you reached the lecture hall and took a seat next to each other.
“Hi Kuroo! Mind if I sit here?” a voice said. You turned to see a girl standing next to Kuroo.
“Oh Calie, hi, yeah sure,” said Kuroo. The girl joyfully sat down next to Kuroo, causing you to clench your fists.
“Uh Calie, this is my friend Y/N, Y/N this is Calie, we have organic chemistry together,” explained Kuroo. The girl flashed you a dazzling smile. Great, she's pretty and smart. You shook her hand firmly.
“Wait aren’t you guys roommates too? That must be so fun living with someone like Kuroo,” giggled Calie. You gave her a sarcastic smile. I already hate this bitch.
“Yeah we’ve been friends forever so I definitely get my fair share of Kuroo.”
“Well you’re probably so sick of him, mind if I borrow him after the lecture?” She asked. Calie wrapped her hand around Kuroo’s bicep. You had to stop yourself from beating the shit out of her.
“Well actually-“ you began.
“Sure that sounds fun. You don’t mind right, Y/N?” said Kuroo. Is he being serious right now?
“So I’m supposed to grab dinner by myself?” You whispered, without thinking. Kuroo’s eyes widened. Calie gasped.
“You can come with us! I’d hate to leave you all alone,” She smiled.
“Yeah come with us,” said Kuroo.
“No no it’s fine, you two have fun. I’d rather be alone anyway,” you muttered. Before Kuroo could reply, your professor had walked in and began his lecture.
~
Your lecture felt longer than normal. Probably because all you could focus on was Calie’s giggles as she whispered with Kuroo throughout the whole 3 hours. Kuroo was always good with the ladies. His confident nature caused girls to be drawn towards him. Yes, you liked him too but you liked all of him, not just the surface level of Kuroo.
You tried to contain your annoyance with Calie and Kuroo. It was obvious she was flirting with him.
“See you next week,” said your professor as he wrapped up his lecture. You got up from your seat and began packing up your things. You didn’t look at Kuroo and headed right out the door.
You began walking back to your apartment when you heard Kuroo call after you.
“Wait Y/N-chan!” You turned around to face him.
“Are you sure you don’t want to hang with me and Calie? She’s really nice once you get to know her,” he said. You almost rolled your eyes.
“No it’s fine. I promised I’d FaceTime Oikawa now anyway,” you lied. Kuroo raised an eyebrow.
“Well if you say so. I’ll grab dinner with you tomorrow, okay?”
“Yeah sure. Make sure you have your key to the apartment or else I’m locking you out,” you said. Kuroo laughed and nodded.
“Bye Y/N!” cheered Calie. You gave her a wave and watched as Kuroo ran back towards her.
-
You walked back to your apartment, upset. Kuroo had every right to hang out with other girls but that didn’t mean it didn’t hurt. It was just another reminder that Kuroo might not share the same feelings as you.
The apartment felt weird being so empty. All dark and quiet. You threw your keys on the counter and plopped onto the couch. You checked your phone and saw a plethora of texts from Oikawa.

You set your phone down and checked in the kitchen for anything worth eating. You weren’t in the mood to go out anymore.
Rice. We have rice. Well, rice it is.
You took out the rice cooker and began to prepare your sad dinner.
Why didn’t I just go with them?
As the rice cooked, you sat down on the couch and turned on the TV. You put on ‘Gilmore Girls’, wishing your friends were there to watch it with you.
~
It was late. Close to 11pm. Kuroo still wasn’t home. You laid on the couch, basking in your loneliness. A little dramatic yes but you hated being without your friends. It was a weird concept that they had friends beside you.
You heard keys jingle outside the door and you felt a wave of comfort come over you, knowing it had to be Kuroo. You got up from the couch and peaked at the door.
“I was starting to wonder what happened to you…” your voice trailed off when you saw that Kuroo wasn’t alone.
“Hey Y/N! Oh my gosh your apartment is so cute!” said Calie. Your jaw dropped and you looked over at Kuroo.
Your expression had to be screaming: “are you fucking kidding me right now!?”
“Oh uh thanks,” you muttered.
“Is it cool if Calie stays for a bit? Her roommates are having people over and she doesn’t know them too well,” explained Kuroo. Hmm I wonder what that’s like.
“You don’t have to ask me, it’s your apartment too,” you said plainly. Kuroo raised a brow.
“Just checking…”
Calie walked around your small apartment, admiring all the decorations that you had up.
“Aw isn’t this the cutest photo!” She said. She picked up a picture of you and Kuroo. It was when you had gotten dressed up together to take graduation pictures. Your smile was the brightest it’s ever been. Holding your diploma as Kuroo wrapped his arm around you. In the background of the photo you could see a faint image of Oikawa and Bokuto.
“Yeah I love that picture,” Kuroo smiled. Kuroo took the photo from Calie’s hand and looked at it.
“Best friends, right?” He looked at you. Your heart sank.
“Yup, best friends,” you whispered with a dull smile. Kuroo smiled and showed Calie to his room. You tried not to react. You walked over to your room, locked the door, and curled up onto your bed.
Is best friends all we are ever gonna be?
