SVT SCOUPS and Jun Tarot

DISCLAIMER:

These are interpersonal tarot readings of seventeen members FOR FUN. These are literally just for me and I don’t expect anyone to take this seriously. Also, I don’t know everything about tarot but I know enough. These are my interpretations of the readings.

I also do these readings to practice so take them with a grain of salt. This is my hobby so if u disagree with me just know I really dgaf.

Reading done on both 12/06/22 and 3/07/23

Warning: Long post!!!!! I poured everything from my brain into both readings.

12/06/22

Overall Relationship:

rev. Ten of Pentacles

rev. Empress as elaboration card

✩ They have quite a complicated relationship. I'm getting the feeling they do not see eye to eye on a lot of things. Their relationship with each other is quite insecure (rev 10oP) that must have resulted from an unhealthy codependence (rev Empress). They've gotten to a point where things are not working out between them no matter the situation.

Jun in Scoup's eyes:

rev. Emperor

✩ Scoups sees Jun as someone who is immature. He has everything he needs to take full responsibility (of what...? I'm not sure. maybe his life? I could see SC being upset that Jun is not living his life to its fullest potential).

Scoups in Jun's eyes:

Death

rev Wheel of Fortune and rev King of Pentacles as collaborating cards

✩ Jun is or has witnessed Scoups go through a big transition (Death) and it has impacted the way he views Scoups. I think his constant stream of bad luck (rev WoF -- when you think negatively, negativity find you) forced Scoups to confront what has been setting him off and he needed to make some big changes. He needed to confront his fear of failure (rev KoP) and how he was always playing it safe.

ANOTHER DRAW (The energy felt off an I just needed to confirm)

Justice

Four of Cups as elaboration

✩ Jun had to see/feels that Scoups needs to answer the universe. "Universe" here can mean to himself, the people around him, his environment, his world, everything that makes up Scoups's universe. 4oC tells me that Scoups might've had an apathetic attitude (a type of apathy that comes from constantly having to face hardships) that caused problems. He needs/needed to understand that his behaviour directly affected his members and everything around him (the Universe). I think his behaviour affected Jun in particular.

✮ NOTES:

✮ My second draw for Jun's POV of Scoups was basically the same as the first draw just expressed with different cards. Jun understands that Scoups needs/needed to answer for his behaviour and that affected the way Jun saw Scoups. It seems to be related to Scoups's habit of being really hard on himself and that materializing as a form of apathy on the outside. ✮ Very strong, male personalities. We have the Emperor and King of Pentacles. We also have very authoritative figures like Justice and Death. It seems their relationship is really strained right now. ✮ The co-dependency part is interesting. Who relied on who more? The cards have a really familiar feeling to them. The problems between them only happened because they know each other so well and they know what the other needs to do to overcome their faults. It's just that their masculine stubbornness gets in the way LOL. ✮ This whole reading felt like observing a severed bond from two people that had a sincere and special connection.

rev. Hanged Man

Three of Swords as elaboration

✩ Someone in the relationship felt they were giving everything and received nothing back (rev. Hanged Man). Despite the issue being brought up many times, there was an inability to change their behaviour (rev. Hanged Man). This lead to a break up (3oS). The person who broke off the relationship most likely felt hurt, betrayed, and really lonely.

Did SC cause the grief?

✩ rev KnoS often represents a person who intentionally causes turmoil to others. I think the reason why SC embodied rev KnoS was due to how he saw himself.

How does SC feel now after everything:

rev Knight of Swords (i'm interpreting this as representing SC himself) and rev Nine of Pentalces as elaboration cards

✩ He is trying to let go of all the negativity left behind (rev 9oS) though he feels intense guilt for what happened (rev 9oS). He felt insecure of himself in the relationship (rev 9oP), which caused him to embody rev KnoS (I'm still iffy about this part of the interpretation). He is trying to come to terms with his self-worth and is trying to improve himself (rev 9oP). He is realizing he has everything needed to become a better person and ask for more.

How does Jun feel after everything?

rev Ace of Cups

The Lovers as elaboration

✩ I think Jun feels very tired. The loss of love in the relationship is making him reflect on his actions and also making himself closed off to everything (rev. AoC). It seems like he's repressing his emotions. Although I do feel like he wants things to work out in the future. Through his self-reflection, Jun may be finding that he is willing to let SC back in again to work on their relationship (Lovers). He really wants to be with SC again but is blocking those feelings off to protect himself.

(everything beyond this point is just completely self-indulgent. Chismosavirus got me bad.)

What was SC like in the relationship?

Empress

✩ Seems like SC's leadership tendencies shined in their friendship. He was nurturing (Empress) and constantly output energy (Magician) that motivated both of them to accomplish their goals. However, he was quite rash and unstable at times (rev 10oP) which greatly confused Jun

And what was Jun like?

rev. Nine of Swords

rev. Eight of Swords

✩ Jun was very childlike -- not the annoying type but childlike in the sense that he was innocent and naive (6oC) in the relationship. And also very pure. But, rev. 8oS suggests that he feels he was exiting a period of oppression and is gaining a new perspective on things (probably after the breakup). rev. 9oS suggests he was often affected by SC's deteriorating mental health and it weighed him down heavily. He constantly had that positive and childlike outlook on life despite everything.

✮ NOTES

✮ Well. ✮ LOTS OF CUPS AND SWORDS. A crazzzyyyy amount of (mostly) Air and Water energy, Things were all over the place. Emotions EVERYWHERE. I know Jun was stressed as hell LMAOOOO ✮ THE NUMBER NINE constantly showed up. Nine symbolizes completion of a cycle. This further proves that they really broke up omfg.... It also means going right back to the beginning! The whole point of ending a cycle is to start anew. There is hope if they want to start again. And I'm getting the feeling they already have started. ✮ Jesus fucking Christ their relationship is so complex. ✮ Everything about this reading corresponds with my previous reading. Except! I got the feeling Jun was causing most of the problems back then. Now, I think I felt hostile energy from Jun because he was most likely standing up for himself and the relationship. He was just defending himself. Everything else is the same. I love tarot I really do.

@bread-into-toast — Compleat Victory

So I know I said that we were designing for standard legality, but this card... Well, to me it feels like one of those cards that you’d find in a set booster as a commander-precon random addition. That’s not a bad thing! It’s merely...a thing? It’s a little perplexing. This card’s decent, though, and the more I think about it, the more I accept that replication is an interesting aspect of Phyrexian design. Your choice of art was also totally reasonable and makes that victorious stance all the more victorious, which is a good touch!

What I really like is the target “player” here, where you can target yourself to proliferate if you’re in the control-oriented side of things, which is kinda hilarious if you can make it work. See, I’m just playing off the high of killing a death-proliferate creature to poison someone last night in limited, so I’m loving the resources and w/e, but yeah. Victory is indeed Compleat. I would like to have seen something maybe a little outside the box a bit more in terms of art-to-subject separation, but that’s why we have the Runners-Up: a showcase of “hey, really good work here.”

@hypexion — Burning Ritualist

Seeing the in-person art for this, where the artist showed off a photograph of their unique style, I really love this Faithless Looting, not gonna lie. Also not gonna lie, this was a painfully close contender, and I love what you’ve done here. Honestly, I don’t think there’s much room for improvement! Perhaps there are other angles, like a rare card that made it so that the next spell doubled, playing into the creative side, but that’s all “oh just add more stuff” to an already great spell.

It’s almost a shame that this has practically no limited potential, or at least it’s one where I’m iffy on how strong it can actually be. Except... Well, T1, land, T2, “channel” Magma Opus, T3, Ritualist, Storm off. Or, Boom // Bust with artifact lands? Rough // Tumble is fun too. Wow, there are a lot of fun ways to make this work, actually. I think that in limited, getting a little more value in a UR build would be fun. Also, the flavor text is pretty fantasy-heavy-handed, and I actually like that. Very cultlike, very much the mystical side of red.

@izzet-always-r-versus-u — Raksasha’s Scheme

So I saw this card in the inbox and literally said out loud, alone in bed, “What the hell is wrong with you?” I love this card so much. Its abusability is totally stumping me as to the actual usefulness of it all, but just as a card, yeah, no, it’s...so weird. What would this look like in a draft? Getting a good creature is good, but what do you get? No idea. Great for the late-game if you have a bomb. Great for the early game, maybe, if you can abuse it. Disgusting in commander.

I feel that this is one of those cards where the mechanics would have come before the art and that wouldn’t have surprised me. Like, an R&D meeting where they were like, “hey, here’s a card, how do we flavor this?” It’s a distinctly terrifying concept but plays into all the best questions of how good a card is. Absolutely stellar weirdness on display here. You know, I would play this in my Elves just to get creature combo pieces, even if I don’t play the exact creature combos, y’know. Dorks are good, lords are good. Bouncing sounds like a plan, right? An Abzan deck with Ephemerate in modern, turn three, case this, blink an Omniscience... Oh. Maybe this card’s busted after all. Neeeevermind. (I still love it.)

@yd12k — Virulent Pack

Wow, okay, you come into MY werewolf fantasy and give MY werewolves TOXIC, and you expect me to just say “Cool concept, let’s look at cards” as if they’re not infected?? ... Well you’d be right. This card’s nasty. I think you’re going down the AU here with some really nasty ideas but I don’t hate them. The expository flavor text works as a kind of story spotlight and is actually worded oddly well? The explanation of “so what happens next?” is explained on the card without the flavor text telling you that these specific werewolves became infected. Like, that’s really darn good. The change of art to incorporate a new plane is great context, actually, and I think this card’s...

If you’re reading this, then I’m happy (and feeling a little sheepish) to say that I’ve looked with a fresh set of eyes as this bomb of a card. It’s evasive without being overbearing, it has modern limitations that feel splashable and reasonable, it invites brewing and building, and it suggests a lot about the world. Toxic attacks in the Innistrad countryside feel awesome even though it makes me kind of sad, and you did a fantastic job conveying exactly what you needed to. So, instead of making this a judge pick, I actually want to elevate you to a runner-up position. I should have taken a longer look at the cards, even in my limited time. Maybe those are lessons for another day—but on Innistrad, what even is day anymore? Congrats again.

wAAHH, hello and welcome to tot!! i hope you have a fun time playing :D (and yes, ur taste is Exquisite, luke is SO GOOD,,,I LOVE HIM SM,,,,,)

and i guess off the top of my head, i do have some tips!! feel free to take whichever u need and discard the ones that dont spark joy!

gameplay tips

do the daily and weekly tasks!: these give rewards each day/week that will help you in card leveling, overall player leveling, and collecting s-chips. sometimes events happen which add new tasks to do for certain rewards so like, basically whenever you see an Exclamation Point Icon anywhere, check it out! theres gonna be stuff to do and rewards to get from it

level up your cards!: if im remembering my own experience starting out, i recall that the debate power increase through the main story was a little bit steep in the beginning jHVKSJHDF. i used to get on by just fine with the EXP from debates itself leveling cards, but that quickly didnt give my deck enough juice. level em up with oracles so u can smoothly go thru the main story :D

take ur time exploring not just the story but also just the sheer amount of other stuff going on in the game: i was overwhelmed when i started, and i started on this game's Release. there was Less Stuff. idk how it must be for ppl coming in now, when theres More Stuff omg. but it's chill, take ur time, theres a bunch of neat stuff to discover

story tips

(idk how intuitive/already obvious these might already be, but when i started out i had no idea how these types of games worked so it took me a while to realize there were MORE STORIES JHSDJFH so i'll mention these tips too, aka tips i wish i knew in august of 2021, HAHA)

read card stories/content: every card you have that is not an R card (so the SSR, SR, and MR), has either a 6 part story in them to read or 2 audio messages for you to listen to and they are Wonderful. dont sweat it tho if u dont have a card and u wanna know its content, by this point, nearly everything is recorded on youtube so u can easily watch what u dont have!

play the boys' personal stories!: aside from the main story (which are the cases and investigations) each nxx boy has personal stories u can find by going to Ur Phone In The Game -> Click On Guy Of Choice -> Lower Right Corner.

if ur interested in nxx team plots outside of the main story, check out past events and their plots on yt!: the event plots are a Treasure Trove of interesting case stories And full ensemble cast interactions. i love this game the best tbh when i see the whole team interacting with each other, so i adore event plots. sadly, nearly all of the events that are done cannot be accessed anymore to newcomers in the game itself, but they can still be watched on yt. buuut thats just nearly all of the events which leads me to my next tip that rlly isnt a tip but simply just my personal recommendation as an intense enjoyer of this game---

download and play through the Mysteries of the Lost Gold event: the Lost Gold event originally ran through september of 2021, but it's been made available permanently as downloadable content in the game no matter when you start playing!! i highly recommend this event. it's by far still my favorite event in this whole game (everything from interesting plot/case to fun gameplay to delicious characterization, I REALLY LOVE LOST GOLD OK!! THIS IS A LOST GOLD STAN ZONE!!)

anyhoo, this event can be accessed by going to X-NOTE Story -> lower and rightmost button Event -> upper and rightmost button Past -> download Mysteries of the Lost Gold

really, i cannot recommend lost gold enough ajhfvjkahfa this is the One Thing i hope all players can experience it's just...I REALLY ADORE IT OKAY!!!

Brothers’ War Draft Booster Challenge

Every set, I like to make a booster pack of custom cards that fit the design of that set. I try to be as innovative as I can, but my primary goals with this project are to make realistic, printable, and fun designs that fit within the structure of the set, and it’s difficult to be all that innovative with a set of mostly commons and also while staying true to how mechanics were used within the set. With that out of the way, let’s get started.

Rare

Ayd, Marshal of Production 1WU

Legendary Creature- Human Soldier

If you would create one or more artifact tokens, create twice that many tokens instead.

5: Create a tapped 1/1 colorless Soldier artifact creature token.

Here’s an old design I liked quite a bit that I adapted to the set. The second ability ups the floor by allowing this card, by itself, to make artifact tokens that it can double, but this card also doubles powerstone tokens and this rewards you for doing so by giving you an outlet for their mana.

Equipped permanent has base power and toughness 5/5 and is a Soldier artifact creature in addition to its other types.

Here’s a card in the legacy of Luxior. All the “colored” artifacts in this set are designed so that they have some kind of use outside of that color (being a creature, if nothing else), so I chose to make the normal equip cost colorless and only the animating cost require blue.

Two target creatures fight. When either of those creatures die this turn, create a tapped Powerstone token.

I wanted to call this Sibling Rivalry, but a different card in the set already took that name. I like this card for it better though. I know neither Urza or Mishra died in that fight, but I think that was just mechanically better, and i think otherwise this is a great representation of the story. Two creatures on the same side fight, and two powerstones come out of it.

The set has lots of colorless artifacts with colored abilities, and I thought it would be neat to have a cycle of cards with two different colors of activation, so that it can go in either deck but is best in one with both. I’m particularly happy with this design and how the untap effect combines with a tap ability, and then this also serves as a mana sink for GU’s manaramp archetype. I added the reach to make the untap effect a bit more useful on its own.

Enchanted permanent is a Powerstone artifact with “T: Add C. This mana can’t be spent to cast a nonartifact spell,” and “6: Destroy Crystalized Prison” and loses all other types and abilities.

Here’s a weird pacifism variant. Since it turns something into a powerstone, I wanted to make sure they had something to spend that mana on, and I liked the gameplay of the expensive way to get rid of the enchantment. It let me cost this a little more aggressively.

Here’s a common payoff for the RW unearth deck. Surveil in white may seem a bit odd, but I basically see surveil as useable anywhere scry would be, and this would absolutely be fine to scry, plus white even got a minor bit of self-milling so clearly this kind of thing is a bend they’re willing to make. I wanted surveil over scry for the unearth synergy, though I don’t love the amount of room it makes all the reminder text take up, and I can’t really skip out on a common. I think this’ll play great though.

This card was made because I had a) no prototype designs and b) no blue commons, so I tried to make a card that filled both holes. Technically, the common prototypes all came in a cycle so this breaks that pattern but. Eh. I might have done a bit more with prototype, it’s a neat mechanic, but I didn’t have a prototype frame and that annoys me.

1, Sacrifice another creature or artifact with mana value 3 or less: ~ gets +2/+2 until end of turn.

The first atog card was in antiquities, and it has been wayyy too long since we’ve gotten an atog so I thought making one would be a fun throwback. I took a look at set themes, and thought about what kind of atog I could make that hadn’t been done, and this is what I came up with, tying into the WB theme of caring about cheap stuff and of course, the RB sacrifice theme.

When ~ enters the battlefield, mill three cards.

Unearth 6B. This ability costs 1 less to cast for each other creature card in your graveyard.

Something I wanted to do with unearth was try out variable costs, and this was one of the simplest ways to do it, especially since other cards in the set care about the same thing. This might need a second black mana pip but I think ultimately, 1 mana for a very temporary 3/3 and milling three cards with a lot of setup is probably fine.

Here’s a design I’m quite proud of, in terms of innovation at common. Having a threshold for the damage it needs to deal in order to trigger means you need to cast a spell to trigger prowess, or have some other means of boosting the power. I think it’s a really cool way of caring about noncreature spells on a prowess creature, by tying it to the prowess.

When ~ enters the battlefield, you may pay 2R. When you do, gain control of target creature until end of turn. Untap it and attach ~ to it.

Equipped creature has haste.

Equip 1

This is another design I’m quite proud of, I like how the base effect of the equipment ties in with the kickeresque effect, since that effect needs haste to work. I’m really happy about this as a common, and how viable it is in either mode.

Power Surge 2G

Instant

Choose target creature you control. Create a tapped Powerstone token. That creature gets +1/+1 for each artifact that entered the battlefield under your control this turn and gains trample until end of turn.

Really not much to say here. There’s a GW theme of caring about artifacts entering the battlefield, and this plays into that and uses a Powerstone token to give it a base use case and the trample helps with that too.

Mishra’s Panther 3

Artifact Creature- Cat

When ~ enters the battlefield, you gain 3 life if mana produced by an artifact was spent to cast it.

I’ve always liked cards that care about artifact mana, I made a similar one in my booster for MH2, and with powerstones all over the place I wanted to revisit that here. Originally this scaled with each mana spent to cast it from an artifact, but I decided to make it a flat on/off instead for the sake of simplicity and being more usable in general decks, especially since “artifact mana” isn’t really a theme other commons care about.

Reprint slots are always hard for a project like this, since I have to make a new card. The conclusion I came to was to create a card that doesn’t feel like it would have been created for this set, and that fits in with the other reprints. One of the best ways to do this is to use a mechanic that isn’t really used in the set. Here I made a card that would have felt right at home in mirrodin block, but this set isn’t really doing much with charge counters, so it doesn’t quite fit in with what this set is doing, making it perfect for the reprint slot. I went with the mystical archive frame cause I didn’t have the old frame available.

playing life is strange (warning: i do not like life is strange) and uhhhhhhhh if u think about it, victoria n nathan in the alt timeline are lowkey better friends than (main timeline) chloe is? like max spaces out n just leaves and victoria texts her asking if shes ok and that her and nathan are worried about her. even when victoria thinks max is mad at her, she doesnt act accusatorily towards her and just says her door is open whenever. all chloe does is bitch at us!! we saved her life twice!!! i wanna stay in the alt timeline 😭

also as a resident cripple i lowkey resent chloe not only being disabled in the alt timeline but being As Disabled As The Devs Could Make Her And Also She's Dying. like i get that irl these things happen but this ISNT irl, this is a Bideo Game and someone had to deliberatley write that in for maximum amount of Sympathy Points And Guilt Tripping

i lowkey think it would be a way cooler game if max just had the one random time ability to go back and save william and now shes STUCK in this alternate timeline where shes besties w the people who hated her before and her best friend is disabled and now she has to navigate this new foreign world and the ramifications of her actions

also missed oppurtunity not making chloes power chair blue. also its mid wheel drive which isnt an issue, BUT if it were front wheel drive thered be enough room in the back so max could ride on it. ALSO also high end power chairs have a max speed of 6mph, which is a LOT for a chair, its like if you were sprinting. imagine chloe telling max to climb on and crank it to max speed as they zoom down the street. it would be SO in-line w her personality its insane they missed this oppurtinity. cripples CAN have fun yaknow!!! i go cruising in my chair all the time!!! like imagine u and chloe decking her chair out w stickers and cool diy punky seat cushions and her being grateful that max is just chilling w her and now that her chair reflects her personality she feels a lot better about being in it and her accident and all that! it wouldve been So Fun

Madrigal Family Game Night Headcanons

I felt like this deserved its own kind of headcanon posts since I have a LOT of thoughts about this theme in particular!

Let’s get one thing straight: there is never a peaceful game night with this family.

Anytime they play Monopoly, Luisa or Félix are always the bankers. They're the most trustworthy with the money and less likely to succumb to peer-pressure during games.

As I've said before, Isabela is (in theory) BANNED from competitive games. We all know why…

Whenever a game of Uno is down to Bruno and Pepa, best believe it’s going to be the funniest night. Those two can insult each other for days and still be pulling cards.

When it’s between Julieta and Pepa, it’s like a quick draw match between who would get Uno and Uno out first. The tension is h e a v y.

Julieta is a little easier on Bruno, until he starts talking trash. Then it’s a battlefield.

Dolores is an absolute threat at Monopoly because of the amount of dirt she has on every family member.

Abuela is still the champion of card games to this day.

If you let Mirabel and Julieta team up, you automatically have made the biggest threat of a team in existence.

For personal reasons, Camilo is terrified to play Twister with Luisa. One game, she slipped and fell smack on top of him; the kid’s whole soul left their body.

Antonio, surprisingly, takes after his mama with his competitiveness. Camilo and Mirabel learned this the hard way by playing Hungry Hungry Hippos with him.

Camilo’s favorite game is Sorry. Because no, they’re not sorry. Not in the slightest.

Mariano is somehow a genius when it comes to Connect 4.

Literally he almost always wins. Whenever anyone thinks they’re in the clear, he comes in out of nowhere with a connect 4. He doesn’t even plan it!

Luisa cannot for her life play Operation, her nerves get way too worked up and she WILL cry if the board buzzes on her.

Bruno and Agustín sometimes play Mancala in their own peaceful version of a game night.

All the grandkids get together to play Cards Against Humanity and it’s always the funniest night of their lives.

One time Alma walked in at the worst time and nearly got a heart attack from what she heard. She couldn’t look at any of them the same for the next week.

Just Dance is a must-have in this family. You already know Pepa and Félix are heavily invested in the game.

Mirabel and Camilo goes HARD for each song, copying the moves STEP by STEP. Isabela and Dolores are the type to just wave their remotes, doing the bare minimum. Luisa and Antonio are the only ones who just do whatever for the sake of having fun.

In team games, Isabela will always team up with Antonio as an excuse to be able to play. She always instigates his competitiveness and makes sure he puts those puppy eyes to good use.

Do not EVER leave Mirabel and Isabela playing against each other in Jenga.

Mirabel could simply let out a hard exhale during Isabela’s turn and Isabela wastes no time throwing a cactus at the girl.

You know that Scrabble meme from Suite Life on Deck? Dolores is Cody and Isabela is Zack.

Bruno 100% uses his gift during Battleships. He “coincidentally” has a vision each and every time he plays against somebody. Everyone is ready to call him out for it every time.

Félix nearly has Chess and Checkers in the bag every time, unless he’s playing against Mirabel. Those two could go on for h o u r s.

Alma gives him such a tough time at Chess too. The lady will watch in amusement as he stresses out a way to get his king out of getting cornered.

The triplets go out of their way to sabotage each other in Mario Kart, no questions. If someone gets caught in the line of fire, that’s their fault.

Everybody has their own Mario Kart main and if anyone decides they want to play as someone else's main, then prepare to duel; Alma is the referee.

Mario Party is BANNED in this household. Alma cannot stand what happens to the family when they play. Husbands were sleeping on couches, the skies were constantly raining, and grandkids were on thin ice with each other before fist fighting over stealing a star.

Wii Sports is ironically the game that the family is calmest over. Until they play boxing. Which turns into boxing in real life.

Agustín is the king of golf. He has the highest score of them all.

Bruno once accidentally flung his remote out the window during tennis and Casita was P I S S E D.

Listen it's all wholesome fun and games in any family until that game night rolls around. That's all for now!

“Oh, fuck - sorry,” yn moved out from behind the counter, “forgive me, I’ve been daydreaming a bit. What kinda model do you got?” Yn said as she walked the nice lady to the side of the store where parts are displayed on the wall in lamented posters. “You’re very pretty, sorry if I keep staring.”

“HA,” the lady snorted as she played with her wedding ring, “you sound like my husband; you are like - the first girl I’ve met who has thought I was pretty. Thank you, it truly means a lot.” The lady smiled as she began pulling out her wallet and a few written down notes, “it’s uh - fuck hitto, you write like a kid, it’s a 2016 Ducati?”

“2016 Ducati Full Throttle,” yn said back with a small smile as the woman laughed again, “I’m assuming it’s your husband’s old bike?”

“Yeah,” she played with her ring as her smile softened, “he wants it in good condition before he gives it to one of our neighbors. It’s tradition for his - occupation..”

“He in a gang?” Yn asked as she began shuffling through shelves, “Don’t sweat it, I’m not gonna freak out over trivial matters.” The young ryuguji chuckled as she finally found the part she’s been looking for. “Here,” she place the part on the top, “its the G2 Throttle Tamer Ducati you needed. I’m assuming he’s still in a gang by the looks of how you covered for him, but don’t worry - it’d be hypocritical if I got scared you were involved with a delinquent.”

“Oh,” the lady sighed out, “thank gods. You can call me Kaku-san if it’s alright with you? Could you install the part by yourself? Sorry, my man is just always busy with work and was hoping to have someone install it for us..”

“I can’t personally install it, but my brother can! He gets back from his lunch break in about twenty minutes, so I know its a long wait -"

"I'm so sorry, I'll just turn that off-," yn went to hit 'decline call.'

“I can wait, no sweat!” She smiled as she began digging through her mini backpack, “I need to check and see if my loser has ate lunch yet. I'll be outside for a bit." With that, 'Kaku-san' had walked out as she dialed her husband.

"Fucking hell," yn breathed out before hitting accept, "Inui-senpai, hey - what did you need?" Her breath hitched in her throat as she heard his low laugh.

"Just checking to see if my favorite girl has ate yet - so, have you?" Yn could just hear the smile that creeped upon his face, but for some reason - she didn't feel as in awe as she once did.

"Ah," yn scanned the shop and began totaling the price for the repair and writing further notes for her older brother, "no, I haven't ate yet, but I was planning on just heating up some of the leftovers that Souya-kun gave me."

"You know, if you keep being as cute and clingy as you are around him," yn could hear him moving around paper bags of what she assumed was to-go food, "shit, sorry. As I was saying, if you keep being so cuddle buddy with him, he's goin to fall for ya."

"Or," yn rolled her eyes as she began to document minor details on the log for each hour, "maybe, you're just reading in too deep on the fact that Souya is just an overall easily flustered person. Being a decent human does not make my kind actions count as flirting; if it does, well, you men around me are just dumb."

"Oh, don't be like that, princess," inui said in a rather sarcastic tone, "you know I'm just teasing you. Leaving that matter, I got you lunch - your favorite lunch, might I add."

"Thank you senpai, but -,"

"Inui-kun~ why aren't you getting off the phone yet? You promised that you would pay attention to only me today!" Yn heard a whiny voice - a woman’s whiny voice - through the phone, “I thought you said after we get lunch we’re just gonna lay in bed all day.” Inui mumbled something to her that seemed to have shut her up, clearing his throat, “sorry about that, are you still -,”

“I’m pretty busy and I plan on going out with a friend for my lunch break,” she cut him off, “have fun on your day off.”

yn knew she shouldn’t be angry; inui was never hers to begin with, but she was hoping that he’d at least spare her feelings. maybe this was good. maybe knowing that he has someone, even if it’s just a fuck buddy, will help her clear her mind and finally let go.

the young ryuguji chuckled before locking and pocketing her phone once she noticed her brother’s presence. sure, she was still hurt at the fact that inui is currently hooking up - maybe even dating - another girl, but at least she could look to the eldest of the Haitanis and feel herself forgetting all about her first love.

“What ya lookin at brat,” Ken laughed out as he went to pat her head, “hey, who has you smiling like that?” He has always been protective; it was just his nature as a big brother. “Don’t get me wrong, I’m glad you’re happy, but if it’s about a boy I would LOVE to know who.”

“It’s just a stupid thing that emma-senpai sent me,” yn attempted to play it off, “anyways — how was lunch?”

“It was good,” draken said as he went to put his jumper back on, “but it coulda been better if inui didn’t bring his ‘friend girl’ around. She kept hittin on Mikey and asking about my necklace and I almost called you up to come deck her.” He quickly grabbed his chain and kissed the ‘Emma’ that hung in the middle just before tucking it back under his white tshirt; it was his routine.

“I woulda showed her that ‘Draken Uppercut’ if I was there big bro,” yn made a small show of what she did in hopes of making her brother smile.

“You’re an idiot,” his smirk plastered on his face in a proud manner, “but I don’t need you wasting your energy on her. It just — like who the hell do you think you are touching a random stranger, especially around their neck. Like who?” She could tell that he was upset that he couldn’t have done anything; Draken was just brought up to be extremely respectful. “The worst part,” he threw a wrench at his ‘anger wall,’ “she kept asking shit like: “who names their kid emma,” “was she at least pretty,” and the one where I almost put my hands on her, “is she dead or something? what you just can’t let go?” Yn, I was so close to knocking her daylights out. She honestly got lucky takemitchy had tackled Mikey, or she woulda got her shit rocked.”

“I,” yn was at a lost for words; she had never heard someone disrespect any of her family this openly, “what the fuck did inui say? Did he just sit there through all this shit?” she moved from behind the counter and rolled out one of the bikes he was scheduled to work on, “please don’t tell me he did.”

“No,” draken rolled his eyes as he recalled the previous events, “just prop it up by station one, gotta get the new 340 mm rear air shock absorber suspensions, oh, could you jot that down, please? But nah, this fucker,” draken lifted the bike up so the back was in the air and put it on a lift, “just found every way to piss me off. Like I love him, but he fucked up today. He told us ‘sorry, she’s just cranky so don’t take her words to heart.’ If she called me ugly or some dumb shit I’d be okay, but he really told me not to take to heart the fact that she spoke on Emma’s name like that.” He tugged on his dark locks as he undid it, “could ya put it back up for me, it’s not tight enough.”

“I gotcha big man,” yn gently massaged his scalp as she went to put his hair in a tight but loose bun, “you know, she’s probably really proud of you right now. Bet she’s smilin up there too.” she could feel his tenseness fade as she comforted him; she’d do this one hundred times a day if it meant that he’d finally stop blaming himself for all those years ago. “There,” she smoothed over the top of his head once more, “all done.”

“Thank ya,” he hums as he begins to work on the bike, “oh, do you want to come with later? me and the boys are gonna head to mitsuyas before we go out so you can hang out with the other brats.”

“Actually, I um,” yn felt the sweat gather in her palms as she walked back to her station, “I was wondering if I could go out tonight - with a friend..”

“What friend,” yn flinched as her brother snapped his gaze towards her, “do I know said friend?”

“N-no,” she cleared her throat and began writing on sticky notes and receipts, “he — they were nice to meet when I first got back in town and offered to hang out - so, I felt that it’d be rude to -,”

“Nah, you’re not going,” draken turned his attention back to the bike, “you’re either going to stay home or hang out at mitsu’s house. No in between.”

“That’s fair,” yn sighed, “can I just have a reason as to why I can’t go?”

“Because I don’t know em and the streets have been rainin havoc since Mikey got out,” he sighed as he put his tools down. He stood up to full height and gently patted the leather seat of the propped up bike, “I just don’t want you to get hurt, bub. Yer my number one right now and I don’t know if I’ll be able to go on if you even get the slightest bit of hurt.”

“I understand big draco,” she laughed softly, “Can I just stay in then? I promise I won’t leave; I just feel like being in my own bed tonight.”

“Anything for you, yer majesty.” Ken smiled as he concluded that he had the best sister in the world.

“Alright, yn, we’re about to head out,” her big brother knocked on her door, “can ya at come say bye?”

“Fuck,” yn got up and quickly put an oversized sweater and some basketball shorts that reached just below her knees, “gimme a minute! Sorry, I was taking a nap.”

“We’ll be out in the living room, dumbass.”

If anything, yn was just glad none of them walked into her room to see her basically bare figure - shout out to her Ken-nii for knowing his sister. Once fully covered, yn made her wait out the room and noticed everyone sitting on the couch in the living room, even inui.

“Yn,” souya barked out, “you’ve ate right? If you haven’t ‘m gonna fight you!” He stood up and approached yn as all the other boys smirked and whistled in the back. “You guys shut the hell up.!”

“Neh neh,” nahoya laughed, “you need to stop bein so flirty over there, angry.” Smiley always teased angry, but that was just brotherly nature; however, if anyone else were to continuously pick on angry — it wouldn’t be a shock if Smiley was on top of them and imprinting the curve of his elbow into their forehead. “He just missed you, little Ryu. Make sure to let us know if anything happens-,”

“We’re going to get Ken-chin laid,” Mikey said with a mischievous smirk as he began pushing his taller friend out the front door. “Choi~.” The other boys followed either patting her head before they left or hip bumping her; hakkai decided to be the odd man out and hug yn to his chest and dramatically walk out the door as if they won’t see each other for fourth years.

“BYE,” she poked her head out then quickly shut the door and disregarded her hoodie, “now that they’re gone..”

VRRR..VRRR….VRR

“OH MY GOD, WHAT,” picking her phone up off the coffee table she fell back onto the couch, “what do they want-,”

“Shit.!” Yn quickly sat up and answered with an apologetic face, “heeeey, what’s up?”

“You look cozy,” he eyed the tops of her shoulders with only her bra straps decorating them, “cozy enough to make a man stand outside for, hmm - what does my watch read - thirty minutes.”

Yn looked thoroughly confused as she cocked her head to the side and fell back, “what does you standing outside of some random building have to do with me?”

“Did you really —,” she watched the man shift and bring her golden chain into view, “you were supposed to meet me tonight in order to get your precious necklace back. You stood me up and now I look like a fucking idiot who got stood up.” He deadpanned into the camera and had a small pout, “you had all the guys laughin at me, darlin. You really disappointed me.” Yn felt her heart slowly tear; she hated disappointing anyone. “If you were going to show up you could have at least said so.” Just as she was about to speak, Ran hung up and left her to wade in her thoughts.

With a knock at the Ryuguji’s front door, yn shrugged the jacket back on and checked through the peep hole. After noticing it was the infamous older brother of the Haitani duo, she quickly yanked him inside and made sure to lock the door quickly.

“You know drop offs don’t usually require the said delivery man to be in the house, correct?” He asked with a bored expression as his eyes scanned the small space. “‘S cute for someone with you and your brother’s income.”

“I only pulled you in because my neighbors like to talk about what goes on throughout everyone’s house,” she rolled her eyes and pulled in the strings of her sweater, “hurry up and give me the fucking necklace so you can leave.”

“I did all the work of coming here,” he brushed past her as he took off his shoes and made his way to sit on the couch, “the least you could do is offer me a drink or some food.” Ran laid back into the cushions and spread his long legs as he slowly turned his gaze to the TV, some random anime blasting in the background. “Well, if you don’t mind, a water will do.”

“Cute for someone with you and your brother’s income,” she mocked as mumbled under her breath and grabbed him a water bottle from the fridge, “here, your majesty.” she tossed it into his lap and stood in between his legs to block the tv and make him focus all of his attention onto her.

“To what do I owe you?”

“My necklace, home invader.”

“Take it off of me then,” he raised an eyebrow, “you didn’t expect me to do that as well did you?”

“Fine,” her shorts hiking up as she moved to straddle his hips, she took note that he had been eyeing her thighs since he arrived, “I’ll take off the stupid thing.” She buried her chin into the crook of his neck, “just sit still so I can -,”

“You know,” he flattened his palms against the bare tops her knees and barely sliding his finger tips up the rim of the pants, “you hiding more just makes me want to see you in less.”

“Heh,” she chuckled as she slowly wrapped her arms around the middle of his torso, “yer a fucking perv as well as a bastard.”

“You know your necklace isn’t dangling along my spine, right?” He chuckled as he gently kneaded her flesh, “am I making you uncomfortable?”

“Nah, feels nice,” she chuckles when she feels him gently dig his finger tips into her skin, “‘m makin you uncomfortable?”

“nah,” he jokingly mocked her as he took his hands and slid them farther up to the tops of he thigh, “boxers?” He pulled back slightly so he could rest his forehead on hers.

“mm, never really wanted to bother ken-nii when he did the laundry, so I just get boxers,” she laughed, “what? Did you honestly think I’d be chilling at home in a thong or something? Women gotta breathe too.” she felt her heartbeat pick up as his finger tips danced along the material; yn wondered if he could tell that she’s never had a boyfriend as she lacked - in takemichi’s words - ‘ettick.’

“You are respectful yet have anger issues, a smart mouth, and embody the term ‘I don’t give a fuck,” he swiftly took both hands from under the clothing and lightly placed them on either side of her face, “you are so fucking gorgeous, didya know that?” His rings were cold on her heated skin, making her smile softly.

“..you know,” yn laid a chaste kiss on the bonten’s left wrist, “… ‘msorry..”

“Couldn’t hear ya,” he chuckled deeply as he maneuvered his right hand at the back of her neck and squeezed lightly, “repeat it more clear this time. You wanna be a good girl, right? Be the best girl you can and repeat it.~”

“Motherfu-, AHEM,” she scrunched her face up in hopes of hiding how happy it made her to have a second chance at being a ‘good girl,’ “‘m sorry you don’t know how to communicate.”

“Ah ah ah,” he squeezed his right hand a little tighter, causing her to ground her hips down and lean forward into his chest, “that’s not what I want to hear.” she heard him groan, but she was too busy fighting the battle in her head as to why she felt more secure when he gripped her tighter.

“I said,” she nuzzled her nose between his lean pecs, “‘m sorry.” Yn got up and placed one of her hands at the base of the bonten tattoo and squeezed gently along his Adam’s apple, “I’m not saying it again, so you better have heard me the first time.”

“You’re so angry; a wolf under sheep’s clothes you are,” ran hummed as he leaned back in, noses brushing, “yer forgiven little lamb. I don’t know - you barking up the wrong tree knowing that I could hurt you just turns me —,”

BZZT, BING.

Both bodies had turned their heads towards the door in confusion.

“Are you expecting guests?”

“No,” yn quickly got off of Ran’s lap and grabbed the crowbar that rested by the umbrellas, “fuck, if it’s those fucking assholes that want to fight ken-nii, ‘m gonna kill em.” She went to look through the peep hole, only to be pulled back to the older man’s chest.

“Let me get it,” ran signaled for her to hide behind the kitchen wall as he pulled out his signature baton that hung on his belt loop, “be quiet, little one.” Ran opened the door to a young man, about a year or two older than yn, dressed in a pizza delivery uniform with 3 large boxes in his hand. If he wasn’t just some kid, the Haitani would’ve beat him just for openly sporting a scowl towards him.

“Oh, hi sir, are you,” the young man looked back at the receipt then back at the Bonten executive, “Kawata Souya? I have one pepperoni, Hawaiian, and plain cheese.” Ran’s head shot to the side at the sound of you rushing towards the door.

“A-ah ! That would be me I guess,” yn guided Ran’s hand behind her to hide the weapon as she widely opened the front door, “sorry my brother’s friend probably ordered it since they went out -,”

“Yn?”

“Huh,” she looked up at the man, “oh shit, hongo?! I thought you were in Osaka right now for Uni; you still play there, right?”

“Yeah,” the worker replied, “oh shit, this like.. a date or something?” He threw his glare at Ran and softened his features once his gaze returned back to the young ryuguji. “Nah, nevermind, that’d be dumb considering you swore off dating,” the bonten men felt as if his heart had been pricked with a small needle, “especially since you used to swear to draken we were gonna get married and stay together forever and ever.” Yn was visibly embarrassed as Ran watched her take the pizza from Hongo’s hands and start trying to kick him off the porch. “Wait, before I go,” he said as he jotted down his number on the receipt, “let me know when you’re free. Maybe ya could come see me play one of these days? Summer games start back up next week so I’ll be headin-,”

Ran pulled on yn’s wrist before slamming the door, interrupting Hongo’s spill. He made show of how hard he locked the door so anyone outside could hear that the house was closed and not expecting anymore visits.

“Ooo,” yn placed the pizzas down onto the small kitchen table and looped her arms around Ran’a slim waist, “are you upset yer not getting all the attention?” She giggled as she kissed the symbol that marked the center of his neck.

“Why would I be upset over some 4 incher maxed college boy,” he smirked as he brought his hand to the side of her face and let his thumb brush along her bottom lip, “plus, if anything he should be the one whose upset. You can’t hate me or push me away if you wanted to; your desire for me to show you the depths of the world is visible just by looking in your eyes.” Yn felt her breath quickening and her head going numb as his words made way into her; making her feel far more intoxicated than any alcohol or drug could have ever done. “You can try to deny it, but what sane person would invite one of the most violent people with the most blood on his hands into her home?”

“I’m the farthest thing from sane,” yn breathed out as she placed a chaste kiss onto his lips before burying her face under his chin, “because I find myself wanting to do this more. I’m so glad I don’t look where I’m going when I’m on my bike.” Ran laughed as he connected their lips, but this time he deepened the kiss; her knees gave out and his tongue slipped in making her lungs just as weak.

“Princess, youre fucking gorgeous,” he broke away before holding her in his strong arms, “but I don’t want to just ‘get in your pants.’ I want-,”

“Good, because im not easy,” she cut him off as she tried to catch her breath.

Ran laughed as he dragged her back to the couch, leaving her to fetch each of them two big slices of cheese pizza. He sat beside her, kissing her temple, and devouring the free meal, “yknow, this taste ten times better than any food at the shitty night club.”

“Don’t talk with your mouth full,” she said as she harshly swallowed the dough, “ish bad mannirs..”

“You,” he leaned in and kissed the sauces covered corners of her mouth, “also taste better than any food at the club.”

“Well you’ll have to wait until you can taste all of me,” catching ran off guard - she flirted back, “after all, the fruit taste better when ripened.”

“Princess,” Ran attempted to shake her tired figure off him, “believe me, I want to stay. I really do, but I don’t want to cause a stir or heated argument between you and your brother.”

“We we’re just playing Mario kart and you said,” yn stared up at him with an unimpressed glare, “I’d fuck you on the counter of the pizza place just to embarrass that pizza boy,’ and now you’re scared to be caught by my brother?”

“Not scared,” he bit the tip of her nose gently before freeing himself of her limbs, “just cautious. Want my little girl not to have any complications; plus, I’d have to kill your brother if he made you cry.”

“Wait,” she pulled his sleeve, gaining his attention, “text me when you get back home.” He leaned down and kissed her forehead before making his way out her front door, “okay, little lamb.”

Within the span of 4 hours, draken arrived back home and yn managed to make the house rid of any clues of guest over; she even masked the smell of Ran’s cologne by bringing the box of pizza to the living room to spread the smell of grease and regrets. She rested easy on the couch, allowing some random movie to lull her into the comfortable cushions.

draken sobered up a bit after he came back and went to get a late night snack from the kitchen. spotting his sister on the couch, he chuckled softly as he gently rubbed her forehead, “thanks for bein a little angel, ya gremlin.”

it’s as if the gods above could sense draken’s obliviousness and caused yns to vibrate several times. Much to her brother’s curiosity, he checked the notifications and felt his blood boil.

he didn’t know whether to be upset at the fact that there was some random “tani senpai” texting his sister and he didn’t know jack shit about them, or the fact one of his best friends was talking and drunk texting his sister. Nothing a beer and pizza can’t help.

After grabbing a full pizza box plus some beer and bringing it to his room, ken stared at his tv processing everything he just seen. Maybe this is just a dream? Maybe he’s so dizzy from the dancing and whiskey that he can’t seem to think straight? There’s just no way that his little sister would actually go for his friend; let alone, his friend returning the affection, right ? There’s absolutely no way that his sister would be letting random boys in the house. Nah, maybe he’s just scared of letting her go to university and growing up on him. This is all just a shitty nightmare.

“Whatever,” draken burped out as he took the cheap beer bottle to his lips, inhaling the last of the liquid, “heh, maybe it’s kisaki’s ghost hauntin my head with dumb thoughts.” He felt himself drifting to sleep, but stirred once he realized he almost forgot his nightly routine. Untucking the chain from his neck and pulling it towards his chapped lips, “g’night emma.”

SU rewatch- S1E11- Arcade Mania

Hey, long time no see!

I’m desperately bored in solitary quarantine at university right now, and decided to try and pick this SU rewatch series up again for fun. It’s been a while since I’ve watched through the show in order. Plus, now that this show is completely finished, there’s plenty more connections to make. I can’t promise I’ll be consistent with this, but at the very least I can have fun trying to make a few more posts at my leisure.

Anyways. With that business out of the way. Let’s get right on to the show!

We begin with yet another mission Steven’s guardians have brought him along on! I believe this is the fifth mission we know of that he’s accompanied them on so far. (Lunar Sea Spire, Inverted Pyramid, the unknown mission he returns from in Tiger Millionaire, the desert, and now this one.) It’s really sweet seeing the Gems begin to trust him tagging along more often. There will come a day in the near future where missions become routine for Steven, but in these early episodes, you can really tell that each and every one is a brand new adventure.

In terms of plot, though, this episode is honestly Future Vision: The Prequel.

We learn a lot about Garnet’s abilities and her role in the team here, even if all of these details aren’t spelled out word-for-word quite yet. Hints towards her future vision we see this ep include:

Garnet moving ahead of the group to be in the perfect spot to catch Steven when he falls.

Her flawless moves while fighting and dodging the monsters.

Her becoming a master at the rhythm game later in the episode.

Like, damn. Look at this.

My Q U E E N!

I had to gif all of this just because it’s such a beautiful and smooth sequence of animation.

If there’s one thing all of the Crystal Gems can 100% agree on, it’s that Garnet is friggin’ amazing.

Garnet: “Let them go. They’re just parasites. If they want to be a problem, they’ll have to answer to me.”

So, does this statement mean that- at this present moment- her extended stay at the arcade was entirely beyond her future vision? That the only futures she saw were ones where she was actually present to deal with containment of the Gem parasites? Given that later scenes insinuate she’d never been to the arcade before, and would have no “data” about its games to factor into her internal understanding of the world, this seems likely.

I adore the gradual palette change here, from shadow, to setting sun. It’s a nice detail that adds so much more life to what could otherwise be a rather mundane transition scene. It seems like unique palettes were more common in early SU- I wonder why Crewniverse stopped implementing these as often later on?

Pearl, entering the arcade: “Humans find such fascinating ways to waste their time.”

This sequence of Pearl failing at playing a car chase/road rage game hits so much different knowing what happens in Last One Out of Beach City. It’s genuinely radical how far she grows in confidence from this point, because here, she seems so shackled to rules and guidelines. Now that we know about her rebellious past, it might be tempting to write this characterization off as “early series weirdness,” but... I don’t think that’s what’s happening here.

Instead, I wonder if she’s working through grief-related regression.

Think about it... the pain of Rose’s passing is still so fresh for her. She was a rule breaking rebel once, yes, but she spent all of those days at Rose’s side. And I get the sense that she’s poured so much of herself into keeping Rose safe, into the rebellion against Homeworld, that without those, she’s caught in a vacuum. What IS her purpose now, when the very person she rebelled for is gone?

So she slips back into old pearl-like habits. Chronic rule following, and a fear of deviating from norms. How familiar. Thankfully, much of her arc throughout the show is her directly growing beyond these habits to live boldly as her own Gem.

The friggin video game when Garnet knocks its head off: “TELL MY WIFE I’M SORRYYY!!!”

Yo, what the fuck. This line is both hilarious and messed up, all at once. Please tell me the game isn’t sentient.

Aaaand here we finally introduce Garnet to the video game sensation that is Meat Beat Mania! This game is perfectly suited to her and her power of foresight because its patterns are algorithmic and not vulnerable to spontaneous deviations, and thus easy to predict, with enough input. She’s probably getting a quick rush of satisfaction with every correct move, and she barely has to exert any energy with her future vision to get that rush. After years and years of wading through endless possibility at every avenue, this video game’s patterns must be a rejuvenating breath of fresh air.

It’s addicting.

...Kinda makes me think of how I get sometimes when I play solitaire on my phone for an hour straight. After a while, I barely even think, I’m just shuffling through my deck and moving cards almost on automatic. I don’t have to use much energy to play, and it gives me animated fireworks every time I finish a match. It’s a win-win.

Amethyst: “I’MMA WIN AN AIRPLANE!”

I don’t know what it is about the way Michaela Dietz says the world “airplane,” but this makes me laugh every time. Does... does she think she can win a genuine airplane here because she saw Onion win a tiny motorbike from the ticket booth?? Amethyst, oh my god. XD

She’s got the spirit, this wild child.

So, moving on- we meet up with our crew later the next morning, Garnet nowhere to be seen. There’s an interesting exchange I’d like to highlight real quick-

Pearl: “If we’re supposed to fight a giant foot, Garnet would let us know.” Amethyst: “Yeah, Garnet’s the boss!” Pearl: “Well, we’re all a team. Garnet just has heightened perception that guides us towards our mission objectives.”

Considering the specific phrasing Pearl uses here- “heightened perception” instead of “future vision-” did Garnet outright tell the two of them to not explain her powers, just like she told them not to mention she’s a fusion? Because I’m pretty sure no one ever uses the phrase “heightened perception” again in reference to her powers.

Given the fact that Garnet chose to keep the knowledge of Ruby and Sapphire under the table until she felt Steven could understand her better, my guess is that this is a similar scenario.

Ahah, I genuinely can’t tell if this is Steven being gullible, or just impulsively playing along with Amethyst’s antics. Still- gross, kid. Don’t wipe your wet cereal face on your shirt! Ew! :O

When he goes outside and starts to use a kiddy metal detector to scan for quarters... so THAT’S where he finds his arcade money! Because I can’t imagine Greg is financially able to give him that much to spend on non-essentials at this point in the show.

Okay, so... I just want to bring light to the fact that Garnet has literally been in this arcade ALL NIGHT LONG.

It was evening when she first arrived here- the sun was visibly setting in the background, and when Steven, Amethyst, and Pearl left, the sky was dark. But now it’s morning. Steven was just seen eating breakfast. And Garnet is STILL HERE.

Does this mean Mr. Smiley locked her IN? I have so many questions... Did he try to get her to leave, only to be intimidated by her complete lack of response? I would kill to know more about this interaction. Poor Mr. Smiley. That man deals with so much bullshit in this town, huh?

Geebus, is Garnet a solid wall. Previous episodes have shown Steven forcibly shoving whole tons of food, and swinging a mini-freezer over his head, and yet he can’t get her to budge even an inch.

I absolutely adore how he climbs up her frame like a koala, though, ahah. Cute.

Meat Beat Mania announcer: “That’s rare!!” Steven: “Oh my gosh...!”

I take these two lines as evidence that this is the first time Steven’s ever seen Garnet’s eyes. Specifically, the fact that there’s three of them. Which, makes sense- since Garnet is still really reserved emotionally at this point, and is only begins to get in the habit of taking her visor off to show Steven her full face later on in the show.

This expression deeply hurts me.

Steven’s so distraught here- because the others are in danger, the town is in danger, and he doesn’t have his trusty, dependable guardian who catches him when he falls and beats up scary monsters for him. Without her, the whole team is vulnerable and blind.

He feels alone. He feels... powerless.

And so he responds to that confusing, powerless feeling by trying to compensate with his own power. When all other routes he can think of fail, he smashes the video game console.

It... uh, it works... but once again, Steven entirely fails to consider the consequences, huh? He experienced a little bit of character growth in this regard in the episode Serious Steven, but even past that it’ll remain an recurring issue for him. Hell, his impulsiveness is a general character flaw even stretching into SUF.

In summary, though:

Poor Mr. Smiley. He works so hard, and doesn’t deserve this BS. ;-;

Happy Birthday, Yugi Muto!

@pharaoh-ink absolutely DEMANDED I post this drabble I did while bored at work for Yugi's birthday, so, here you go: original manga arc/season 0 setting.

“(What’s a birthday?)”

Yugi paused in buckling the last of his belts and accouterments; he could hear and feel the spirit moving restlessly inside his puzzle. “What do you mean, what’s a birthday? It’s the day you’re born.”

“(That makes no sense. You were not born today, you are full grown.)”

“Not full grown,” he sighed, glancing at himself in the mirror. Surely he was due for just one more good growth spurt? “It’s the anniversary of your birth,” he clarified, and heard the spirit hum within.

“(You’re excited about it. Why?)”

“Yugi! You’ll be late for school!” His mother was calling from the bottom of the stairs, and Yugi hurriedly shoved his books into his bag.

“I’ll explain it later,” he promised, rushing down.

Along with his breakfast at the table, there was a small, chocolate-covered crème bun, and his eyes bugged in glee. His mother also looked very pleased about it, kissing him on the brow. “Happy birthday, Yugi, dear.”

As he wolfed down his food before Anzu arrived to walk with him, the spirit seemed to understand more. “(Ah, you like those.)”

“Uh huh.”

“(So birthdays are days for treats. Your mother gave it to you to make today special?)”

He didn’t know quite how to explain something so basic to him. After all, his birthday wasn’t the only day he could have a chocolate crème bun, but certainly he got one today because it was. He was spared this attempt by Anuz’s arrival. “Happy birthday, Yugi!” She had a small box for him, wrapped in colorful paper, and now the spirit was very interested.

“(What’s that? What’s this paper? What are these curls? Why is she giving you that? What’s inside it?)”

“Will you just give me a second! Oh-” He blushed at Anzu. “Not you – him.”

Her blue eyes lit up and she glanced quickly at the puzzle. “Is he giving you a lot of trouble today?”

“He doesn’t know what a birthday is. Or wrapping paper, either, I guess.”

“You don’t have to open it now.”

“No, I want to!” He did so carefully, not wanting to tear the paper. He folded that and slid it into his book bag, before opening the box. “Oh wow! Cologne!”

Anzu giggled and nudged him with her elbow. “You can smell like a sexy movie star now.” Yugi flushed from toe to head, and felt very hot. The spirit was still amused, but no longer asking so many questions. “Go on and try it, and let’s get going, before we’re late!” Yugi dabbed some along his throat, just above his choker, and took every opportunity of getting near Anzu so she could tell him how masculine and adult he smelled – in a good way, of course.

“Jeeze, Yuge – you smell like you walked out of the perfume department.” Jonouchi waved his book to diffuse the odor somewhat.

“Anzu thinks I smell very grown up!” He’d been so pleased with the effect of the cologne, he might have put on just a teensy bit more to make that stronger. And then maybe a little more after that. “Here, Yugi,” Honda handed him a small package, this time wrapped in newspaper. “Jo and I got together and got this for you.”

“(More packages! What’s inside? Why isn’t this one all pretty like Anzu’s?)”

“Hush.” To his friends, he said, “You guys didn’t have to do that!”

“Aw, it’s not much,” Jonouchi smiled, though his eyes watered from the cologne. He watched Yugi open it and said, “It’s that new CD, from that scary band you like!”

“Oh, wow!” Yugi was ecstatic. “I can’t wait to listen to it! You guys are the best.”

“You’ll always be our buddy, pal.”

Yugi had never felt so loved before this. There was no birthday wish he could possibly make, because his puzzle had granted the only one he really wanted. Bakura had given him a card he made, with a small Zombire doodle by Hanasaki included inside, wishing him a “powerfully fun,” birthday. He set this at the end of his desk, waiting for class to start, when-

“Oh, Kaiba-kun’s here today!”

He felt the spirit curl inside the puzzle, like a dog with its hackles raised. “(Don’t like him.)”

“You don’t like anybody.”

“(That’s not true. I like Anzu.)”

The tall boy’s briefcase knocked the card off Yugi’s desk as he passed. He reached down to get it, but Kaiba had already covered the corner of it with his foot, stooping to see what it was. “Oh, uh…” Yugi felt unconscionably embarrassed.

Kaiba rose with the card in hand, giving it a quick once over. “It’s your birthday today?” He was so eerie, with these flat, blue eyes, and a mouth that rarelysmiled. But he was interesting, too: quiet, but very smart. He was always alone, and maybe Yugi pitied that – or maybe he just understood.

“U-uh-huh.”

Jonouchi and Honda were squaring up behind him as if a fight was about to break out. “That’s Yugi’s, give it back to him.”

Kaiba glanced from the card, to Yugi, to his friends – and snorted. “It’s not as if I wanted a bunch of toddler scribbles.” He held it out to Yugi. “Here. Happy birthday.”

“Th-thanks.”

Kaiba turned to go to his desk, but paused. “Are you wearing cologne?”

Yugi was spared from answering by the teacher entering and calling the class to order. It was only then he realized how quiet the spirit of the puzzle had been during this exchange. He soon realized why: he was still trying to catalog a list of people of whom he approved. “(I like you.)”

Yugi just smiled to himself.

His grandfather’s gift was ready when he got home that afternoon. “Wow, Grandpa!” A holographic Dark Magician card. “Where did you get this!”

“I have my sources,” was all he said, very pleased.

“It’s awesome!” He hugged him, perhaps a little too enthusiastically for such an old man. “Thank you so much!”

The spirit particularly liked this present, and was in favor of going over the deck right then, but Yugi’s mother said no games and no playing his new CD until his homework for the evening was done; she knew he’d pay more attention to the music and cards than to his schoolwork. Like Yugi, the spirit was not in favor of homework. Luckily, he didn’t have to do any… “(Can I play a game while you do your work?)”

Yugi sighed, going to his shelf. “Sure…What did you want tonight?”

“(Those little magnets, the round ones.)”

“The desk toy?” Yugi took down a cylindrical tube full of super-magnets. “Be careful, they spill everywhere.”

“(I’ll be careful.)”

Yugi and the spirit had discovered that, if he let his mind go kind of blank, if he let his eyes go a little unfocused, the spirit could take the left hand while he remained busy with the right; this was crucial for surviving lectures, or the spirit would vibrate so intensely with complaints of boredom, Yugi couldn’t concentrate on what he was meant to be learning. He sort of lost sensation of his left side, and it was like he only could see from half the left eye, when they split in this manner. It was uncomfortable and disturbing at first, but like everything else involving the puzzle, he’d become accustomed to it with time. So tonight, he read his book while his left hand worked on whatever was occupying the spirit of the puzzle, and finally was able to finish about an hour before bed. He stood and stretched, shaking out his left hand to regain sensation in the fingers. “There! Shall we work on the deck?”

“(Wait. Look first.)”

“What is it?” Yugi turned back to the desk.

There, in a three-dimensional sculpture of small magnets, the spirit had written: “Happy Birthday, Yugi.”

He could feel the other him waiting with tense anticipation. “(Is it alright?)”

“This is what you wanted to do?”

“(Yes. Is it alright?)”

Yugi didn’t know what to do, so he wrapped his arms around himself and hugged his torso tight. “It’s wonderful. Thank you.”

He seemed to like it. “(Happy birthday.)”

• I think that you and Sanji would give a great pair.

• There are a lot of traits of you that resemble that of Sanji in my opinion. And exactly this was the reason why Sanji started to spend more time with you and get to know you more than Nami or Robin.

• Whenever Luffy screams from the top of his lungs "SANJI! FOOD!!" you scream back from wherever you are right now "Gimme a minute and I'll get you something!", before Sanji can react to the food loving man.

• Sanji loves it when you join him cooking because you two seem to be able to work together without having to communicate. You were ready to scold anyone that was there for ruining your peaceful reading session but there was no one except of a huge bouquet of red roses. It had a little note in it saying that someone is waiting for you down on deck. With a huge smile on your lips you stepped out of your room just ro realise that the way down to the deck was decorated by flower pedals. The sight in front of you made your heart race. You didn't wanted the feeling that grew with every second in you to stop. But you made it down and was greeted by the blond man you were always fond of. He took your hand in his and lead you to the swing and made you sit down.

• He took both of your hands in his and looked you in the eyes while giving the most sweetest confession ever made. And of course you said yes and wanted to date him

• dating him was the best thing that happened to you. He was sweet and caring. He spend every free second with you. If you were close to him he would always grab your hand and intertwine them. Sometimes he would appear out of nowhere and give you a kiss and compliment a different part of your body just to leave you dumbfounded and confused with a racing heart.

• There was this island the straw hats docked on and to their luck there was a festival planned for the night of the day they came. So Nami and Robin took you shopping and made Sanji go have fun on his own. Unlike these two you wanted something fancy that wasn't a dress but they still brought a few for you to put you in later on. And they managed to get you in a short sleeveless pretty blue-black dress. They did your make-up and theirs and ran out when Franky yelled that the fireworks were about to get blown what was the sign for the beginning of the festival. But you didn't came out because you felt uncomfortable in your current state.

• Sanji sensed that something was wrong and made his way to you only to find you standing in front of the mirror and looking at yourself with a tilted head and slight pout. Sanjis eyes widen at the sight of you. Because of 1. He couldn't believe how good that dress locked on you 2. He was shocked because he knew that you didn't like the way you looked.

• "How dare you!? How dare you not love this beautiful sight?! Baby! Darling! Love! Please don't. You look stunning. Simply gorgeous now please allow me to take you to the festival and brag with the fact that I can call the most beautiful woman mine."

• As you can see Sanji doesn't, can't and won't tolerate you being insecure so he took it upon himself to push your ego and make you love yourself as much as he loves and adores you.

• On the festival Sanji would never let go of you. He would constantly have you close to him so he could protect you no matter what happens. He makes sure to once in a while ask you if you're alright or if you want to go back to the sunny since he knew that you're not a fan of crowed places.

• Sanji left you alone for a few minutes but sat you down on a less crowded and also quieter place to get some drinks. You were happily looking at the ocean when a guy approached you and started a conversation with you. You were clear not liking it but still tried to talk nicely. But the guy seemed to understand your friendliness in a different way and got closer. You told him to keep a distance but he laughed it away and simply acted as if you said nothing. You felt uncomfortable and suffocated so you were about to stand up when Sanji came and kicked him out of the chair with a sweet smile upon his lips saying "Thank you for keeping my seat warm but now move your pathetic stupid ass away and leave me alone with my girl."

• When the guy left he took you in his arms and apologised while sitting you down on his lap while asking you probably a bunch of times of you're doing good or if he hurt you.

Bonus:

• While Sanji confessed his love to you Zoro was in the crows nest watching you two with a disgusted and confused look while silently praying for you to reject him but sadly you didn't. In fact you even kissed him. "TF is that stupid woman doing?!"

Also Harumi’s backstory for why she likes Garmadon and hates the ninja including Lloyd, it completely makes sense cuz she was a child that over heard that the ninja didn’t do sh-t and Garmadon saved the city so it makes sense why she hates the ninja and believes Garmadon should be Ninjago’s leader, and since it happened when she was young she didn’t think things through, she didn’t think about it from the ninja perspective and especially didn’t think about it from Lloyd’s perspective cuz she was a child, kids don’t tend to think about the other person’s perspective on things, so I think it makes sense and it’s really good 👌 also this is Ninjago’s first main female villain, all the other ones were either second in command or were in a crew that worked for a bigger villain so yeah that’s cool

“Don’t you guys have any idea what she’s doing? She’s resurrecting Garmadon! Lord Garmadon!” Yeah no sh-t Kai, the name of their gang is “Sons of Garmadon”, of course they know and of course they’re ok with it why do think they’re helping her?

Harumi screams a lot, like Princess Peach/Damsel-in-distress amount of high pitch screaming and I’m surprised Lloyd or the other ninja haven’t told her to shut up at one point.

Also how the hecc did Garmadon know where to find Harumi? It was never explained, he just like punched his way into the police station and was like “Yo b-tch what’s up?”
