Some BuckTommy head canons to get you through the next week without an episode:
Buck and Tommy spend the night at each other's place a lot. It's not out of lust (although sex is not off the table), but more out of not wanting to sleep alone.
When they do spend the night with each other, it's not uncommon for one of them to drop off or pick each other up from work. The first time Tommy picked Buck up from work, he was coming off a 24-hour. Buck's exhaustion was setting in and he didn't think anything of it when he kissed Tommy "hello" and took the coffee cup from his hand. Needless to say, he got an earful of teasing from the team.
Tommy let Buck set the pace when they first stated dating. Meaning he let Buck tell him when and what he was ready for. But once they had settled into their relationship some more, Tommy couldn't keep his hands off Buck. He always has to have a hand on his boyfriend's back, arm, shoulder, thigh, holding his hand, even just linking fingers. Just simple, soft touches to keep the two grounded.
Tommy truly noticed how low Buck's self esteem is when he went over to try to help rectify the situation between him and Eddie. When the started dating, Tommy made it his mission to try and boost his boyfriend's self esteem whenever he could. Between sending him little text messages throughout the day and telling him all his favorite little things about his boyfriend. Buck loves every second of it.
Buck says "I love you" first. Buck's leg was flaring up again and this time the pain was particularly bad. Tommy had spent the night at Buck's, and it was a good thing he did because Buck never would've told him otherwise. It was at the end of night, Buck's pain meds had just kicked in and he was feeling a bit loopy. They were laying in bed watching with a movie, though, Buck had been watching Tommy for at least the past 20 minutes. He was drifting in and out of sleep when he said. By the time Tommy reacted, he had passed out for the night. In the morning, Buck woke up to his alarm and a note from Tommy that said "I love you too, Evan. Have a good shift.❤️" To top it off, there was pancakes and bacon in the microwave.
Buck babysitting quickly turned into Buck and Tommy babysitting. Tommy loved watching Buck with Chris, Jee-yun, and Denny. Sometimes it would make him wonder what it would be like when they have their own little family.
i have so many more of these, lemme know if you want to hear more. also come scream in my asks about these ones!

“tommy is not even enthusiastic or excited to hangout with buck like he is eddie. he spends the entire episode laughing and smiling hanging out with eddie and whether or not that interest is romantic or platonic—“ im gonna stop you right there.
that’s THE difference. with buck and tommy currently dating, it’s 100% safe to assume tommy had only platonic intentions with eddie (because its kinda weird to think a gay man will automatically be into every guy they meet and can’t just be friends with them) but he’s romantically interested in buck. therefore the approach with buck is going to be much different.
does tommy even know if buck is queer? he definitely picked up on the vibes in the loft scene. but while you may interpret it differently, we can also interpret that tommy could be just as anxious to be the one to contact buck first to hang out, possibly in fear of rejection/reading the room wrong. the vibe of the harbor scene is flirtatious, maybe it’s difficult to see it the first time because hey, it’s two guys, but watching it back a second time it’s there and you can practically see tommy trying to feel out the vibe himself. he also tells buck to hit him up at the end. we didn’t get to see tommy’s side of it all. it could be implied tommy was also fishing for information about buck from chris, that tommy could have been hoping eddie would invite buck to hangout, we simply don’t know! but what i do know is that if tommy was to be a bad guy in the story, we would have known by now. 911 doesn’t exactly shy away from showing you who the villains are in the story.
furthermore,
why else would tommy kiss buck? because buck’s a dude and tommy’s desperate? the excuse that tommy is just wanting to get to the 118 is overused and ridiculous. he already has the 118. he’s friends with hen, chim and eddie outside of buck and bobby was his boss before too. is he getting a little small found family in return? sure, but to think tommy’s some evil mastermind about is… definitely a choice.
saying that tommy letting buck set the pace means he making buck do all the work is also just, completely fucking wrong. tommy letting buck set the pace means he cares, because he doesn’t want to pressure buck, he wants to make sure they’re moving at a speed buck is comfortable with. buck is a newfound bisexual, it’s actually pretty considerate for tommy to let buck take the reigns of the relationship.
then, to even imply tommy only might want buck for sex is also just, gross. if that’s all he wanted he would have been gone after their date. he wouldn’t agree for a second chance, he wouldn’t put in the effort to show up for buck. he could just go on grindr, it’s fucking los angeles dude. this is a guy ready for a steady, committed relationship.
im once again begging you guys to actually watch the show without any biases. you’d be able to understand and pick up on what is truly happening on your screen if you did.
addition: also to act like tommy has never smiled or laughed around buck… be for real.

wip wednesday
tagged by @sibylsleaves thank you so muchhhh for tagging me i get to PARTICIPATE and not feel weird about it
working on a maddieddie crisis fic inspired by @lesbianrobin 's brilliant mind, and this snippet is prob longer than it should be. its like a snippuxe, like deluxe? i am extremely clever. shut up.
Still, once she catches her breath, she says, “I think he’d ask you anything, honestly…” She doesn’t elaborate. She doesn’t mention that once, when Buck was drunk on her couch, he asked her what she thought Eddie’s lips would taste like. “Yeah?” “Yeah,” Maddie says, “I mean, I’ve always enabled his nonsense, but I feel like you’re actually kinda into it.” She half-expects him to go red, to deny it, but instead, he smiles, and it makes the hollow parts of her chest warm. “It’s kinda cute when he rambles, yeah.” The slightest hesitation before, “A little less cute when he asks me out right if I’d let him top me.” “No,” Maddie gasps. “No, he did not put it that way, Eddie – stop. No.” Eddie raises his eyebrows at her. “I swear.” “Eddie!” she shrieks. “What’d you say?” The rain’s coming down harder now. The conversation is all she’s got to keep from panicking. A part of her wants to pull over, to wait it out, but Kira’s waiting on her, and from her own bout with the radar, this storm’s not going anywhere till morning. It’s just driving. Maddie’s outrun Doug. She’s killed him. Maddie’s done so much scarier things than this. All she has to do is pay attention. “I didn’t answer,” Eddie says, and he sets himself against the passenger seat, watching the window as hard as she is. She can’t tell if it’s to soothe himself or her. “I told him he should talk to Tommy about it if he wants to switch or top or whatever.” “Mm,” Maddie says, not quite masking her disappointment. “What’d you think about Tommy, anyway?" Eddie says nothing for way too long. Rain pelts the window, and Maddie can’t risk another glance, but she does grin. “I knew it.” “Knew what?” Eddie asks. “I knew you didn’t like him.” “I like him just fine.” Eddie says. “I just think… he doesn’t necessarily appreciate what he’s got, you know?” “Aww, well, you certainly are the expert on appreciating my brother,” Maddie says, but she can feel Eddie’s panic, so she says, “I agree, though. Tommy’s just kinda there. Half the time I can’t tell if he even likes Buck, or honestly, if Buck likes him.” “Of course Buck likes him,” Eddie says, “he spent like forty-five minutes trying to pick an outfit that made him look like the ideal top.” Forty-five minutes with you, Maddie doesn’t say. She wonders if it’s ever crossed Eddie’s mind. That Buck likes him – likes, really likes, Eddie. In ways that don’t fit into their precariously defined friendship. That maybe he’s the thing that turns Buck’s world. That maybe there’s more to all of it than best friends. Looking at him, she doesn’t think so. But she thinks, maybe, Eddie is well aware Buck turns his.
tagging anyone who wants to, i know it's better to actually tag but i'm kinda just getting into this space and i feel like anyone i could think of is prob already tagged! but please do it!!!!!

Growing Pains
This is my story for @bucktommypositivityweek round 2, day 3.
Today's prompt: missing moments.
This is my take on Buck and Tommy’s first time having sex, as well as spending the night together.
Buck : Want to come over and have dinner and watch a movie after your shift
He sends the text before he can overthink it. Now he wishes he had over-thought the message a little bit, because it sounds awkward and formal. Which is at least better than sending Tommy a text asking him to Netflix and chill. He used to be good at this, being cool and flirty. But now he doesn't know to tell Tommy that he wants to spend time with him, dates, stolen kisses, cuddling. But he's also ready For the chill part of Netflix and Chill.
❤️ Tomm y ❤️ : Of course, Darlin. I'll pick up take out on my way over. How does Chinese sound?
Buck: extra crab rangoons? 🥺🥺🥺🥺
❤️ Tommy ❤️ : Of course. I would never forget your extra crab rangoons.
He's nervous in a way he hasn't been since he was in his early twenties and realized that he's a good looking guy who's good at sex. He never really had to try that hard to get girls interested in sleeping with him. Even after that, after Abby, he wasn't worried about turning a casual night in into a sexy night in. It just happened. But him and Tommy are taking things slow because he's never been with a dude and every time he thinks Tommy might be taking things in a direction that leads to them having sex, Tommy pulls away and goes home.
So yes he is nervous and doesn't know what to do, he tried texting Eddie for advice which in hindsight was a stupid choice.
Eddie: 😂😂😂😂😂
Eddie: why would I know how to get a dude to have sex with you
Eddie: have you tried taking your shirt off? Marisol taking her shirt off always works for me
Buck frowned at the messages from his best friend before responding.
Buck: what about when Jesus is watching you?
Eddie: 🖕🖕🖕🖕🖕
Read the rest under the cut or on A03

He considers texting Hen for advice but it seems like a 50/50 shot if Hen would be more or less helpful than Eddie. There is no way he is going to text Maddie because as helpful as his sister would be, she would tell Chimney and Chimney would inevitably wind up accidentally telling Tommy which would be even more embarrassing. He's debating asking Josh but Josh is Maddie's best friend and would lead to the same outcome of Maddie telling Chimney.
He thinks about the things he'd liked. He thinks of the petty matching sets of lingerie that Ali and Taylor would wear. It's not a perfect equivalence, he doesn't know if seeing him in lingerie would actually be a thing for Tommy, but he does have a few pairs of boxer briefs that according to Taylor and Natalia made his ass look biteable, and hug his dick in a way that he thinks makes his bulge look good.
So he puts on his best pair of black boxer briefs, before debating what to wear over them. He knows gray sweatpants are a thing people consider sexy, but he doesn't want to look under dressed either. They haven't gotten to the hanging out in their lazy day clothing stage yet. Which might be ridiculous since he'd taken Tommy as his date to his sister's wedding, but hasn't let Tommy see him in his ratty sweatpants and hoodies. And Tommy will be coming from work so it's not like he needs to be dressed for a night out.
He can do this. He puts on a pair of jeans that he's had for years, they've been washed so many times that they are faded, and distressed in the knees, the denim has gone soft and they make his thighs look good. Next he pulls on a soft and very snuggly, slightly too big hoodie forgoing anything under it. He didn't realize how long he had spent agonizing over his clothes until he heard Tommy knocking on the door of his loft.
“Shit.” He shouted into the empty loft racing down the stairs to open the door for Tommy. He really should give Tommy his spare key. “Hi babe.” he said breathlessly, yanking open the door making Tommy laugh as he stepped inside giving him a quick kiss hello, his arms loaded down with takeout.
“Hi Darlin. Where do you want me to set this?” Tommy asked, holding up the plastic bags filled with delicious smelling food.
“We can eat on the couch.” Buck responded sheepishly with a shrug. “You want a beer? I picked up those Brette Rosés that you like.” Tommy made a soft humming noise in the back of his throat as he sat down the bags of takeout on the counter before crowding into his space smiling at him.
“You hated them.” He did, but Tommy loves them and he wants to make Tommy happy and feel at home in his loft. He's blushing and knows it as he shrugs, but Tommy is smiling even brighter as he leans In kissing his cheeks. “You're adorable, Evan. I'd love one.”
They settle onto the couch with their cartons of Chinese take out and beers. Buck has Tommy pick the movie, because his boyfriend is very opinionated about movies and what movies it is a crime that Buck hasn't seen.
“Nothing sad tonight.” He tells Tommy firmly not over Tommy making him watch Steel Magnolias. Tommy laughs but agrees nothing sad and puts on Bringing Up Baby. The movie is funny and engaging as they eat dinner with chopsticks feeding each other bits and pieces of food, but also sweet enough that once They have finished eating they can curl up in the corner of the couch with a second beer each, cuddling and trading kisses. It eases the nerves in his chest because he loves kissing Tommy. He loves the way his lips are slightly chapped and his stubble feels against his face. He loves the gentle way Tommy uses his massive hands to cradle his face, or play with the short hairs at the base of his scalp.
He drags his hand up Tommy's thigh making his boyfriend moan into his mouth before starting to pull back,
“Evan-” He cuts his boyfriend off.
“I want to have sex with you!” He blurts out with a wince, there went any attempt at subtle seduction, what's worse is the fact Tommy was smiling. He kind of wants to melt into the couch and die of embarrassment.
“We can do that.” Tommy says, still smiling as he turns off the tv, leading Buck up the stairs to his bed. This is easy laying side by side with each other holding each other close, trading slow kisses, letting their hands slowly explore each other's bodies. This is familiar and comfortable.  “What do you want tonight?” Tommy asks between kisses, his calloused fingers playing with the soft skin of Buck's belly under his hoodie.
“To have sex.” He paused awkwardly. “With you.”
“Well I was hoping it was going to be with me.” Tommy responds dryly before they both start laughing which is different because he’s never laughed during sex. Sex had always been this serious thing, it had never been silly though. But now Tommy is laying on his side, propped up on his elbow looking down at him adoringly and smiling while playing with the hem of his hoodie. “I mean what would you like to do?” Buck bit his lip nervously shrugging, he hadn't gotten that far in his thinking. He just knows he wants to experience this new intimacy with Tommy. So he takes a deep breath.
“I want us to be naked.” Buck starts,
“That's generally how it goes, yes.” Tommy teases him again and they are both laughing again, further easing the nerves that usually accompany having sex with someone new for the first time. Someone you really care about, who you could see yourself having a future with.
“Be nice.” He chides his boyfriend playfully, making them laugh again, and it allows Buck to relax fully, slipping his fingers under Tommy's shirt experimenting with touching the skin there. “And I want to just see what happens. Do what feels good.”
Their kisses are slow as they explore each other. Buck thinks this is what his first time should have been like, it should have felt tender. Of course there is heat as well, the way Tommy had groaned pressing kisses over his chest and collarbone after having removed Buck's hoodie, the way his hands groped and tugged him closer possessively. How he had moaned and buried his face into Tommy’s chest hair, nuzzling and placing kisses to the skin.
He gasps rocking against Tommy's muscular thighs when they are down to their underwear, unbelievably turned by how easily Tommy hand manhandled him, preening when Tommy moaned seeing him in his tiny black briefs, grabbing at his ass possessively grinding their hips together and swallowing each other's moans. Eventually he gets Tommy on his back, insisting on giving His boyfriend a blow job.
“Evan, you don't have to if you want to.” Tommy says softly, the way he does when he doesn't want Buck to feel forced or like they have to rush anything.
“I want to.” Buck promises from where he's made himself at home between Tommy's legs and nuzzling his neck. He takes his time trailing kisses down Tommy’s chest, taking inventory of the places that make Tommy sigh and moan with pleasure, how his ribs are ticklish making him squirm and giggle, until he finally gets to the band of Tommy's army green briefs. He takes a deep breath and starts pulling them off of Tommy who lifts his hips up to help.
He knows Tommy isn't small, he's felt Tommy's cock a few times while they were making out and one memorable time when Tommy had been spooning him on Tommy’s big comfortable couch while they watched a movie. But seeing Tommy fully bare for the first time is… overwhelming. It's not like Tommy has some monster cock or something but he's definitely bigger than average. Just like the rest of Tommy, he is just big . And Buck has the terrifying thought of how in the hell would Tommy ever fit inside of him.
“Evan, it’s okay, you don't have too-”
“I want to.” He insists, cutting Tommy off, “I just…” He stares, trying to figure out where to start, which maybe isn't the best plan with how Tommy is squirming nervously.
“Can I take yours off too?” Tommy asks gesturing to Evan's own briefs. “I'm starting to feel a little self conscious being the only one naked here.” He nods, swallowing thickly when Tommy uses his impressive core strength to sit up while holding onto Buck's hips, kissing him while slowly pushing the black briefs from his hips.
“You're beautiful, Tommy.” He finds himself saying without thinking, cupping Tommy's face between his hands. He likes the way Tommy is blushing and a little shy. He wants to make Tommy blush like that again and again. He wants to make Tommy feel beautiful.
“So are you, Evan.” He helps Tommy lay back and takes a deep breath. He takes his time pressing soft kisses and licking over Tommy's cock, trying to catalog what gets the most reaction out of Tommy while also gathering himself to overcome his anxiety about not being good enough for Tommy.
When he does finally wrap his lips around Tommy and begins bobbing his head, he gains confidence from the way Tommy moans and his hips twitch holding himself back from fucking up into Buck's mouth. It isn't perfect, he accidentally uses teeth at first making Tommy wince, and then he gets too ambitious trying to take Tommy deeper and winds up gagging. His jaw aches, but he likes this. He wants to keep going until he has perfected this new skill. He wants to make Tommy come in his mouth.
“Hey, come up here, I want to try something.” Tommy says gently tugging his hair. They wind up on their sides, Tommy spooned up behind him, fucking between his thighs while they worked together strocking Buck's cock to bring them both to orgasm. It's not perfect, not yet. But it's the best sex he's ever had, because it's with Tommy.
“Spend the night?” He asks in the quiet of the bed after they've finished making love, laying in bed facing each other like two parenthesis trading soft kisses.
“Of course.” Tommy answers without hesitation. It's earnest, like there is nowhere he would rather be than in this bed with Buck. The space between them closes as they curl up together, holding each other close, and trading kisses until they fall asleep.
It is, admittedly, the worst sleep either man has ever gotten. The queen sized bed was too small for both of them so they seemed to always be kicking each other. Tommy snores loudly, he runs hot, and can't sleep when he is. Buck is a blanket hog who likes to starfish out on his stomach in the middle of the bed. But he knows that he'd rather spend the rest of his life sleeping like shit as long as he is doing it next to Tommy.
Luckily, it only takes them a few more nights to figure out how to share a bed, which results in the best sleep they've ever had.

The thing is, we are all cherry picking out points, yk? Sure, Buck did ask for the hangar tour and was all starstruck by it on his own, but if we wanna make that argument as Buck initiating contact, we need to consider the way Buck lingers by the helicopter to talk to Taylor because he's starstruck by her and he approaches Natalia to ask about being a death doula. He didn't have romantic intentions with any of those, he wanted to know more about them. At the end of 206 he goes after Taylor to talk to her about the news piece. Buck didn't know Tommy was an option romantically until Tommy kissed him because he was too focused on the Eddie of it all. Buck asks Taylor out during the whole thing with Albert and Veronica and doesn't realize Taylor might be an option until she tells him she was expecting sex because he was too focused on how he was feeling about the Veronica of it all. Buck reaches out to Tommy to apologize after he walks out on the date, points for him, but he only does it because Eddie told him to. And after Taylor walks out from Veronica's place, Buck keeps calling her to apologize, she just doesn't pick up. And at the hospital after the baby is born, Buck saying he thought Natalia wasn't speaking to him, implies he did try, she just didn't answer. Buck repeats patterns in the way he keeps waiting for the other person to clue him in before he does something and goes to the worst case scenario first. Buck just never assumes someone wants him around. And I can apply this to Eddie too. He tugs on Eddie's ponytail until Eddie lets him know he's not trying to replace him. We talk about grand gestures and the insanity of asking someone for a second date to his sister's wedding when they left the first one, but he got an apartment with Ali, he asked Taylor to move in because he cheated, he asked Natalia to buy furniture after 3 dates and a birth. But by this logic, you can paint Carla is a grand gesture. Buck wants people to stay and he doesn't measure efforts to make it happen. Buck sitting down and cooling off after the basketball trying to figure out what was really bothering him before talking to Eddie is just as much of a sign of growth as actually talking to Tommy about his expectations for the relationship. But both have their set of problems because Buck is hiding from consequences when it comes to Eddie and he's jumping off the deep end with Tommy anyway. Buck is complex in such an interesting way and no one is looking at the full picture anymore. Yes, Tommy parallels Abby and Ali and Taylor and Natalia. But he also parallels Eddie. And the Eddie ones are very explicitly said because the episode plays that twist. The parallels with Taylor are glaring, the ones with Ali and Natalia are there and all, and the Abby ones, if you want to say I'm pushing, I wouldn't fight you on it. Every argument can be hollowed out if you see it on its own. Buck assumes no one really wants him around and that he needs to prove he's worthy of it before getting someone to stay. That's the actual hamster wheel. Buck goes all in. And it's a fine line to walk. Even more when the show is making a point of showing that applied to situations that blew up on his face before. If you wanna say Buck was healed by the power of getting dicked down, that's your prerogative, but is he?

Random orphan scenes
Since I'm done with the multi chapter I was going back to some of my old bucktommy WIP's and I cannot remember where I was going with some scenes in one of them and honestly wherever I was going with it I kinda don't want to write anymore but I do still like the scenes so here ya go:
“So I see he didn’t crash and kill you both.” Eddie pants as he dodges a couple of Tommy’s quick punches. “I like to think,” Eddie’s returned blow grazes off Tommy’s left shoulder, “I’m not a bad teacher.”
They continue their sparring around the center of Tommy’s garage, fluorescent lights buzzing faintly above them. The sun had set but the Los Angeles heat hadn’t gone with it. Both of them wore ratty black tank tops, mostly just to have something to dab up the sweat.
The two had fallen into a quick routine since their meeting at Harbor a few weeks ago. Tommy’d met Christopher picking up his father for a basketball game. It was pretty much impossible not to be charmed by the kid. He also had the added benefit of not having to be asked for intel on Evan. He opened up immediately upon knowing that Tommy had flown his father and his Buck, Tommy’d raised an eyebrow at that one, into a hurricane.
“Wow, so what does this superhero do on his off hours?” Tommy had inquired, after Chris was done recounting the tale of Buck and his father saving a girl in a runaway hot air balloon. Tommy’s budding crush was growing a little more with every story. Chris paused, “We play a lot of video games,” he starts, “Buck’s always trying to get his recipes right so we cook and bake a lot together.”
Eddie landed a punch straight to Tommy’s sternum, jerking him back to the present. His breath sputters and Eddie looks almost apologetic before his smirk returns “You daydreaming, Kinard?” he taunts good-naturedly.
“Maybe a little,”  Tommy says, lifting his knee. “Not enough to lose though.” With a leftward push to the abdomen he shoves Eddie out of the ring.
—-
Back at the Diaz house, Buck lounged out on the couch watching Chris do his math homework. Chris had now surpassed the point where Buck or his Dad could really assist. Eddie was in the kitchen catching up on dishes when there was a knock at the door.
“Are we expecting anybody?” Eddie called to the living room.
“Yeah yeah, It’s Tommy.” Buck responded. “He’s picking me up.” Eddie could hear Buck’s tall frame rise from the sofa and start toward the door but Eddie had him beat.
On the porch, Tommy started at the sound of the swing door opening. Eddie was wearing a dish towel over his shoulder with Evan a pace or two behind.
Eddie made a move to hug Tommy but Buck barrelled past him, wrapping his arms around his boyfriend’s shoulders while Tommy’s instinctively wrapped around his waist. Tommy gave Evan a tender kiss to the cheek. Opening his eyes, he found Eddie’s gaze had remained fixed, and an unidentifiable emotion flashed in it, gone as quickly as it had appeared.
Releasing Tommy from the hug, Evan grasped his hand and started pulling him toward the car.
“Hey, aren’t you gonna say goodbye to Cristopher?” Eddie called after him, crossing his arms.
Buck bent backwards to get a clear view of the front door around Tommy’s broad shoulders. “Chris, I love you buddy, I’ll see you tomorrow!” Buck called into the hallway.
There was a pause, the sound of Chris putting down his paper and pencil and leaning towards the back of the couch. “Love you too Buck!” he called.
Buck flashed Eddie a cocky grin and climbed into the passenger seat. When Tommy joined him in the driver’s, Evan immediately seized back his hand. Tommy loved how much his boyfriend seemed to need to touch him in some way all the time. “Thanks for picking me up, babe.” Tommy looked to his side mirror as they made the turn off Bedford, catching sight of Eddie still looking at them from the porch.
“It’s no problem.”
—-
Was I going for pining Eddie? Was I going for "being worried about Buck drifting away from him and Chris" Eddie? Was I going for a totally separate Gay! Eddie arc? fuck if I know.
Absolutely nuts how you can read your own writing even just two three months later and it's like somebody else entirely wrote it. Like "Damn where is this bitch going with this? Motherfucker this bitch is YOU?!?!?"

Alright I’m officially putting my hopes and desires out into the universe before season 8 of 9-1-1 drops.
Here’s my Buddie wishlist:
1. Gerard will strut in and throw some homophobic nonsense at Buck, who’ll go to Tommy for backup. Tommy, however, will shrug and tell him to keep his head down and go with it. Not satisfied, Buck will go to Hen and Chim for advice, only to find out Tommy was basically Gerard’s sidekick during their ‘Welcome to Hell’ phase. While Buck’s still digesting that betrayal, Eddie—bestest friend that he is—will not even hesitate to clock Gerard square in the nose as soon as he catches him giving Buck shit. And that, right there, will be the moment Buck realizes it’s time to kick Tommy to the curb. Thank you for your service in helping Buck step out of the closet Tommy, but your work here is done. Eddie can take it from here.
Tumblr media
2. This absurd bee-nado will leave Buck and Eddie stuck together in the tiniest, most ridiculous closet-sized space imaginable, forced to stay put until the bees move on. Cue awkward shoulder-to-shoulder shuffling, lots of ‘accidental’ touching, and intense, soul-searching eye contact. Buck will try to lighten the mood with bee puns and facts the entire time, but they will inevitably delve into deep and meaningful conversation before they’re finally able to escape the un-bee-lievable amount of sexual tension buzzing around in one very small room. 🐝
Tumblr media
3. Eddie, finally getting a taste of freedom that he’s never really had before, without Chris around, gets a bit… messy. He’s having fun, he’s drinking too much, sleeping too little, and racking up more one-night stands than a sailor on shore leave. One night, while he’s fairly tipsy, a guy hits on him, and Eddie, with the kind of confidence that only comes from tequila, thinks, ‘Why not?’ He gets close to actually hooking up with a dude before panic sets in, and he ends up frantically calling Buck to pick him up. Buck expresses his concern for his behaviour lately and Eddie’s freak out leads him to the hot priest the next day, who helps him work through his catholic guilt and sets him back on a healthier path forward.
Tumblr media
4. There’s a near-kiss. There absolutely HAS to be a near-kiss. The kind where they’re both leaning in, eyes locked, and the universe seems to hold its breath… until, of course, the universe decides to interrupt with something frustratingly annoying —like a phone ringing, or the bell sounding, or… i dunno, a fucking bee! They jerk apart, Buck immediately spirals into panicked guilt mode, convinced he’s just doomed the most important friendship he’s ever had. Meanwhile, Eddie’s freaking out for a completely different reason—because he WANTED it. Now they’re both stumbling over themselves, tripping over awkward apologies, and trying to pretend that almost-kissing your best friend is totally normal behaviour.
Tumblr media
5. The sexual tension finally boils over in the most intense way possible—a SEXY AF, MIND-BLOWINGLY PASSIONATE kiss up against Eddie’s kitchen counter. One minute they’re standing too close, talking too fast, arguing maybe, and the next they’re crashing into each other like it’s the answer to every question they’ve never dared ask. I will accept nothing less than hands on necks and fingers in hair and using hips for closer leverage and DESPERATE, NEEDY MOANING.
Tumblr media
6. They try keep their new relationship a secret for a while. It’s new and fragile and in the very steamy, can’t-keep-their-hands-off-each-other, honeymoon phase and they’re trying desperately to stay in their bubble for a while longer. Which leads to a lot of stolen kisses and glances and smirks and quick-thinking to cover up suspicious moments that the team almost catch them out in - What do you mean reorganising the station storage closet together at 2am is weird?

7. Chris comes home right when Eddie decides it’s time to tell him. At first, Chris is apprehensive, because let’s face it—his dad’s track record with relationships isn’t exactly winning any awards. And losing Buck? Absolutely not on the table. But they hash it out (Chris asking the hard questions that make them squirm, but ultimately bring them closer together) all three of them vowing they’re in it for the long haul.

To be honest the way part of the fandom has treated this Tommy character as a god makes me dislike him more. Unfortunately the Buck bi arc was tainted for me because it all feels force. Also what doesn't help is that Eddie was to much involved in that storyline.
The way people are acting like it's a perfect relationship and yet we barely saw them together feels just weird.
Also I don't like how some literally push Eddie away for this new white man.
This is Taylor Kelly all over again. The sad part is that the season is short and people wAnt to to spend their time giving more to the new guy.
I hope him and Marisol are gone, but I'm afraid. These two characters took the joy out of the Buck and Eddie storyline for me.
The fandom, I think, in this case, is definitely the problem here,
Lou is completely unassuming and enjoying the process and being a buddie shipper just like us - if one actually bothers to read the interviews and not just pick and choose what to talk about.
That is what makes me like Lou.
The fandom has somehow glorified Tommy's character after a couple of episodes and yeah it rubs the wrong way, because, what about the story we had so far?
Is season 7 a reset to 911? and everything that came before that doesn't count? Why not just make it 911 abc pilot then?
I don't think that's the case, but I think the last minute switch between Buck and Eddie kind of ruined it for the Tim because, yes, in a way it feels forced and out of left field.
Supposed that Buck was indeed vying for Tommy's attention, why do it like that? and why involve Eddie in the first place?
I have a lot of questions and my main problem here is not that Buck is experimenting with Tommy, it's the way they practically propelled this ship off the cliff into a dangerous spin, they went from zero to 200 in a second. - That is not how you build a relationship.
You don't try to figure out what you want, mess up the first date, then invite said date to an apology coffee and then invite him to family wedding on the way. It just doesn't work that way.
I may be straight, but I have gay and bi and lesbian friends, neither one of them has ever brought a second or even a third date to so much as a friends get together before they were sure that this is something that would last, before they brought the intended victim to be judged by friends and family.
And people who talk about Tommy as being established in the 118 family, that is not true. He has a connection with Chimney in that that he owes him his life and an acquaintance with Hen, who is clearly not very fond of him, because of obvious past she had with him and their old house before Bobby came into the picture. - Remember - Chimney was her ONLY lifeline in that house.
Tommy was not a liked character before.
Arguably Buck had more history with Taylor than he did with Tommy (which is none at all) - But Taylor is a strong opinionated and often self-serving woman (not unlike Buck mind you), emphasis on woman. - That is the only reason she never stood a chance. Because the writers could have made her and Buck the greatest love story this show has seen, but they continuously managed to ruin any fondness for any female LI to ever grace that set.
And this season is short, to bring in a new LI kinda defeats the purpose of re-establishing the team and this show, because it does feel the same as any of Buck's old relationships that were being pushed for the benefit of 'god forbid Buck actually learns how to be alone and healthy and happy' - the only thing that changed in Buck this season is his sexuality and nothing else, and that vexes me.
My problem is not with Tommy, it's the perpetuation of 'poor baby Buck' society. - I love Oliver and I love Buck - I am tired of the ever repeating pattern of forgiveness for his self serving ways without any accountability that we keep seeing.
I don't think Buck's or even Eddie's firsts or you know what? even seconds should be each other, I am more than happy to make this journey with them, but let it be a marathon not a sprint to the finish line - they knew they would get renewed for another season, they could have written and built it better than what we got - because the moment they switched gears after the second episode, the story became written in the same messy last minute way both S4 and most of S5 were written.
There is no grand plan, at this point they are merely winging it and see where the wind takes them. - And that is idiotic, they had SO MUCH TIME to make this a well written story with the strike and long break after that, to write as they film is lazy and stupid and mostly childish.
And yes this is Taylor all over again, not in that they are the same type of people, but that Buck is jumping head first into a relationship without actually knowing how he got there. - Bobby said that himself - and it is the same, because who in their right mind invite a second (kinda) date to a family event? Like dude have you ever dated before? Do you how this works?
It is a LOT of pressure and not even for Buck himself - because he brought this on himself - but rather for Tommy (aka the intended victim) to be first introduced to the family after a couple of dates when he himself has no idea where he and Buck are standing.
Marisol, has indeed sucked the joy out of the Eddie's story, I don't get why do either of the boys had to be in a relationship starting this season to begin with. Like, she is literally a handbag, the token hetero symbol, so to speak, what she is doing there? is beyond me.
The catholic guilt of her being a nun is bullshit, and as Bobby said himself, Eddie has no problem committing to certain people/things. She serves no purpose this season other than a seat warmer/ glorified babysitter since Buck is otherwise engaged.
They could have gone for Eddie finding his way in the department, Eddie dealing with his mommy issues, Eddie trying to figure out what and who he wants in his life, Eddie trying to navigate Chris' terrible teenage years.
They could have explored the fact that a guy going with his supposed gf/wife in the golf course checking Eddie's hot ass (6X17) - Oh wait, they were going to... the ground for Eddie's coming out was all laid out and they took a sharp turn to left field in the second episode of S7 and made it all about Buck again, because the Natalia actress couldn't come?? what kind of a weak ass reason is that?
And yes, the cliche of receiving the odd white man out (who played a controversial role in early seasons) rather than the regular casted poc male or the guest starring woman, for that matter, better is all kind of f-ed up, but no one would talk about that, of course. 👀
Anyway, I am hoping that whatever is coming next will be worthy of our time and attention because so far we got about more of the same as far as Buck and Eddie are concerned - except that Buck has just broaden his variety and has a bigger pallet of mate choosing at his disposal.
I have two very close bi friends, so I know how their minds work, because God knows they share with me more than I ever wanted to know lol. And one of them is watching 911 with me and she is happy for the rep as well, but unhappy with how it was developed too.
At the moment, I have decided to put any Buck and Eddie topics aside and just want to get the LONG AWAITED Madney wedding, if anyone deserve a happy ending, it's them. ❤️

You Can Find Me Where the Skies are Blue (BuckTommy fic) - 5/7
Summary:
Soulmates are rare. So rare that it's actually incredible that Buck has two soulmate couples in his life. Statistics tell him it's very unlikely for him to meet his soulmate. Of course, then he meets Tommy. Too bad it happens at the worst possible moment.
Canon compliant soulmate AU where Buck is still a mess and Tommy is still very understanding.

Eddie had a calendar on his fridge. Buck was very familiar with it considering how often he was recruited to help out with taking Christopher to therapy or other after school things when Eddie couldn’t or Carla wasn’t available. Buck often featured on the calendar too when he and Chris had a planned zoo or museum trip. There hadn’t been one in a while, admittedly, but that wasn’t all on Buck. Even when he made plans with Eddie, Eddie would sometimes add it onto the calendar. So, he really shouldn’t have been surprised to see Tommy’s name appear on it. Circled for next Thursday for the basketball pick up game that Eddie had been trying to get Buck interested in for months.
“What are you doing?” Chris asked.
“Uh…nothing,” Buck said. “Did you want a snack? I think we can get away with just ordering pizza for dinner unless you want me to cook something?”
“Pizza’s fine,” Chris said. “I finished all my homework.”
“I guess that means it’s time for your surprise,” Buck said.
“Surprise?” Chris asked. “I thought we’d just play video games.”
It was strange being a part of a kid’s life, to see him grow and change and become less of a kid. Buck sometimes couldn’t believe the changes that had happened in Chris since he first met him. Sometimes, he did still miss the more kid version of Chris that wasn’t yet interested in girls.
“Well, I thought we could do a lego kit,” Buck said.
Chris did get excited at that and Buck grinned. It was as much for Chris as it was for himself and to maybe annoy Eddie a little. Like, what if Buck accidentally left a lego piece or two somewhere where Eddie and Eddie alone could step on it. It felt maybe a little petty, but then Eddie was out with his soulmate and Buck was babysitting. Yes, it was Chris, and Buck loved spending time with Chris, but it didn’t stop Buck from being a little annoyed.
Buck had left the box in the living room and he directed Chris towards it.
“It’s Stitch,” Chris said and Buck watched as he opened the packaging.
“You get started, I’ll call the pizza place.”
He wandered back to the kitchen, his phone in hand. He’d thought about calling Tommy earlier and yet hadn’t done it. He thought that his text earlier in the day had probably put across how Buck felt even when he didn’t say it outright.
His eyes went back to the calendar. Tonight’s plans weren’t on there, so it left him wondering about what else Eddie and Tommy had planned. It really was not fair. It was Buck’s non-existent calendar that should have been filled with plans with Tommy.
He made the call for the pizza, grabbed himself a glass of water, and then cut up some carrots and celery to bring out to Chris. He put on a smile as he headed out and found Chris with the instruction booklet and several packages of pieces already open. He’d picked the living room coffee table as his place to build and was already seated on a cushion.
Buck joined him and set down the plate on the table.
“Did you get pepperoni?” Chris asked.
“Sure did, kid. Now, where are we starting with this?”
As they put lego pieces together, Buck answered questions about flying in a helicopter into a hurricane. Chris had definitely already gotten most of the story from Eddie.
“It must be cool being able to fly a helicopter,” Chris remarked.
“It is,” Buck said. “Tommy is very skilled. You know he landed the helicopter on the capsized ship?”
“Is that the same Tommy my dad’s hanging out with?”
“Sure is,” Buck said and he hoped he didn’t sound too sour.
He distracted Chris away from talking about Tommy by asking about the next few pieces they had to put together.
“So,” Eddie said, “you’ve known all this time you’re soulmates. I mean, since we flew out to rescue Cap and Athena.”
“Yup,” Tommy said.
“Wow. Did not see that coming.”
Tommy stared out the window away from Eddie.
“It’s great,” Eddie said. “I mean you guys are soulmates. That’s awesome. I feel bad now, not inviting Buck to come tonight.”
“You think?”
They were silent for a while. Even though it was late, LA traffic was no joke.
“What I don’t get is why neither of you said anything,” Eddie said and Tommy thought he could detect a tone of hurt. “Buck’s my best friend, why wouldn’t he say anything? Looking back…well, I get why he was asking about how the fight went. And why he got a little weird when I mentioned showing you the Chevelle.” Eddie winced.
Tommy groaned.
“We just met, Eddie. I wasn’t going to share something like having met my soulmate with you, no offense. I’ve only told one person. And as for Evan, I don’t know why he didn’t tell you. Maybe it’s that I’m a guy or he hasn’t had the time to.”
“Maybe,” Eddie said. “Look, I’m sorry for what happened tonight. I really did invite Hen and Chim. I was going to invite Buck but I didn’t want to ask Marisol to watch Chris again and Chris hasn’t seen Buck in a little while. I knew he’d been wanting to see him. I wasn’t really thinking, I guess. I should have. He’s probably more than a little annoyed with me.”
Tommy looked towards Eddie again. “I think your apology should be aimed at Evan.”
“Yeah. I’ll talk to him.”
They drove in silence for a while again, until Eddie started to tap his fingers on the steering wheel.
“What?” Tommy asked.
“Buck is…he’ll understand, but he has some — I don’t want to call them issues. He just has had a lot of people leave him.”
“By people you mean his past relationships,” Tommy said even though he couldn’t be sure.
Eddie nodded. “Not just that…and I’ll let him speak for himself. I just want you to understand that him having a soulmate does mean a lot to him. To finally have someone that puts him first, because that’s — that’s what you have to do.”
“Okay,” Tommy said.
When they got to Eddie’s house, he was unprepared by how unprepared he was. The whole way over, he hadn’t even thought about what he would say to Evan or even what he expected once he saw him. It had been different when he thought he was going to see him at the bar somehow. They would have small talk to fall back on and buffers in the form of Hen, Chim and Eddie.
“Hey, you got this,” Eddie said. “He is your soulmate after all. And he’s pretty awesome, he wouldn’t be my best friend otherwise.”
“I know,” Tommy said.
Tommy got out of the car after Eddie punched his shoulder lightly.
“How do you want to do this?” Eddie asked as they walked up.
Tommy really should have been thinking about that. One thing he didn’t want was to have any type of conversation with Evan in Eddie’s house.
“How about you tell Evan I’m waiting for him out here,” Tommy said.
“I can do that,” Eddie said.
Tommy watched as Eddie went inside. The house was ranch style, a single main floor and probably a basement. Maybe the smallest crawl space of an attic. It was a typical LA house. Out front, Evan’s Jeep was parked and Tommy walked across the grass to get there, feeling better about waiting there than right by Eddie’s front door. He leaned his back on the car and waited.
Buck heard the lock on the front door turn and then the door open. Chris was distracted trying to find a piece in a bag, so Buck stood up. There was no way Eddie was back already and he didn’t think Marisol had a key. There was always Eddie’s tia or Carla, but he couldn’t think why they would be stopping by. Buck wouldn’t have been babysitting if either were available.
He couldn’t imagine that someone was breaking in, but it was definitely a possibility. His phone was already in hand ready to call 9-1-1, and he grabbed the nearest thing to use as a weapon which turned out to be a lamp. He edged to the doorway and almost hit Eddie with the lamp. Maybe it would have been well deserved.
“Oh my god,” Eddie said, scrambling backwards. “What is wrong with you?”
“What is wrong with you?” Buck shot back.
“A lot. A lot is wrong with me,” Eddie said. “Which isn’t the point. Why are you holding my lamp like that?”
Buck walked back to the table he’d grabbed it from to place back. “I thought you were breaking in.”
“Using the front door and a key?”
“I’m just looking out for your kid,” Buck said. “Why are you back so early? Did something happen?”
Eddie rubbed the back of his neck and he looked guilty. It was weird when he could see Chris in Eddie instead of the other way around.
“Tommy told me,” Eddie said.
“He told you what exactly?” Buck crossed his arms over his chest.
Eddie looked right at him, his brown eyes boring into Buck. Buck knew before he said it, and he had no idea how to feel. A part of him was relieved, an even bigger part hated it. Even more, he hated the way that Eddie was looking at him like some kind of kicked puppy.
“He told me that you’re his soulmate,” Eddie said. “He’s, uh, he’s waiting outside for you.”
Buck didn’t understand.
“Did something happen at…what was it, karaoke?”
“Other than me not inviting you along like Tommy thought I had,” Eddie said and he winced. “He told me to invite everyone, but I was an idiot and I needed a babysitter. And in my defense, Chris did miss you.”
Buck had no idea what to do with any of what Eddie was saying. He remembered when Eddie brought up his plans with Tommy and how it had almost seemed like an invitation until it changed into asking Buck to babysit. Buck had been so excited at the prospect of seeing Tommy, but Eddie had crushed that and Buck could admit that a part of him had wondered if Tommy didn’t want to hang out with him like he did Eddie. Clearly, that wasn’t the case.
“I don’t even know what to say,” Buck said.
“Maybe that I’m a horrible friend,” Eddie said. “Really, Buck, I’m sorry. I’m also happy you found your soulmate. That must feel amazing.”
“Confusing more like,” Buck said.
“Buck, is that the pizza?” Christopher called out.
“Uh. No. Sorry, bud, your dad’s home early. Just, uh, give us a minute.”
“Confusing because it’s a guy? Or because he’s your soulmate?” Eddie asked and after a moment, he added, “or confusing because I’ve been taking up every spare moment of his time lately?”
Buck let out a strained chuckle. “That didn’t help,” he said. “And yeah the whole my soulmate is a dude thing is a factor. I’m not gay. I’m…you know who I am, Eddie. And he’s — well, he’s Tommy Kinard LAFD pilot. Even you were kind of blown away by how impressive he is, so like why the hell am I his soulmate?”
Eddie closed the space between them and his hand grasped Buck’s shoulder. “Maybe it’s because you’re just as impressive, Buck.”
“I doubt that. Should have been you…you guys have so much in common. I’m not anything.”
Eddie scoffed. “I have never seen you down on yourself like this before. What’s going on Buck?”
“I guess…I guess I’ve never wanted something to go right the way I want this to go right. But I’m still, I don’t — I don’t know, I’m just maybe a little overwhelmed.”
“By the guy thing?”
“Yes. No. I don’t know.”
Eddie’s hand gave his shoulder a squeeze. “How about you don’t make him wait any longer.”
Buck had almost forgotten. Tommy was outside. He was outside waiting for Buck. How long had it been since Eddie arrived? Five, maybe ten minutes, and he’d kept Tommy outside waiting.
“I should—” he pointed at the door.
“Go,” Eddie said. “I want to hear all about it tomorrow.”
Buck couldn’t leave without first seeing Chris, so he went back to the living room.
“Chris, I’m heading out.”
“No,” Chris said. “No, you can’t. We haven’t even finished Stitch.”
“Chris,” Eddie said with that dad warning tone.
Chris huffed, and Buck knew he’d have to make up for leaving.
“I’m sorry to cut this short, kid, but we’ll hang out soon. There’s just something I have to do tonight. But my next day off we can do whatever you want. Alright?”
Chris could still be stubborn when he wanted to be, but he shrugged his shoulders. “I’m not going to wait for you to come back to finish Stitch.”
“I wouldn’t expect you to. Send me pictures when you finish it.”
“Okay. See you, Buck.”
“See you, kid.”
He gathered his coat, put his shoes back on, and then after taking one last encouraging smile from Eddie, he opened the door and stepped outside. He didn’t see Tommy at first, not until he shifted his weight. Tommy was leaning back on Buck’s car, and he looked ridiculously dashing. Buck knew his heart was beating fast, could hear it as he crossed Eddie’s front lawn. Buck had to pause a moment just to look at him and then he started towards him.
“Hi,” he said when he was within hearing distance.
“Hi,” Tommy said.
Evan took a few more steps, bringing him closer. “You, uh, you told Eddie.”
There wasn’t a lot of light out there, but he could still make out enough of Evan. His t-shirt was askew and his jacket slung over his shoulder. He looked delectable and cute all at once.
“Yeah. I’m sorry…but I’m also not sorry,” Tommy said.
Evan nodded. He took another step forward. “I should have told him. I had every opportunity, but—” he shrugged his shoulders.
“Why didn’t you?”
“Well, I barely managed to tell my sister. Hen only knows because I needed your number. I told Bobby too. Didn’t mean to. Only Hen really knows it’s you. Eddie was…well, he kept talking about you guys doing stuff and it felt strange to bring it up…and I don’t know, I was jealous.”
“Jealous,” Tommy repeated. “Evan, there’s no…me and Eddie hanging out, that wasn’t about you.”
“I know. I know that,” Evan said. He hung his head, moved a bit closer. “My feelings about all that, that was more about me than about you and Eddie.”
Tommy had never known someone that could be so many things at once. He could tell that Evan was nervous. He was also just direct and honest. When Evan looked up at him again, he even met Tommy’s eyes dead on and even in the dark he could tell that they shone. This man would be the end of him and what an end to have.
“I should have told him you’re my soulmate,” Evan said. “At some point I just felt like he didn’t deserve to have that information. I know it’s crazy, but—” he shrugged and let out a breath.
“Well, he knows now,” Tommy said.
“Yeah,” Buck said. “He does. I’m not…I’m not upset he knows.”
“Good,” Tommy said. “I hope you’re not mad at him.”
Evan chuckled. “I — no, guess not really. Chris and I were building Lego Stitch. I was planning on leaving a couple of lego pieces for him to step on in his room, but I’m not really mad. I get it, you know, why you’d want to hang out with Eddie. You don’t have to tell me he’s great. I’ve known that since the first day I worked with him.”
Tommy chuckled. The wind picked up a little, a gust hitting them. LA weather meant it wasn’t actually too cold out. Evan shivered and he grabbed for his coat, slipping it on clumsily in a way that showed maybe how truly nervous he actually was.
“How about we do this elsewhere?” Tommy asked.
“Uh. Yeah. Yeah, that’d be good. How about my place? I’m not too far from here.”
Tommy nodded easily. “Sure. You’re driving.”
Evan’s car was clean. He’d noticed the Jeep back when he’d come to see Tommy at Harbor and he’d love to get a look at the engine and maybe a few other parts of it. Wranglers were some of the more fun cars out there, great for off-roading and driving out onto a beach. The option to take off the hardtop and even the doors made them even more versatile. He could imagine him and Evan having a lot of fun in that car.
“You know,” Tommy said when they had stopped at a light. “I was feeling a little jealous too.”
“You?” Evan asked.
“That night when we flew out, I got to see the family you all are. You’re more than coworkers and it’s far more than what the 118 was when I was there. I mean, how you all were willing to put everything on the line for one another. And being your soulmate is…well it brings me into the periphery of that which is great, but when Eddie reached out I also realized that I have a lot of acquaintances but not many friends.”
Evan turned his face to look at him for only a few seconds. “You were one of us that night and not just because you’re my soulmate. You put your job and your life on the line too. You even made fake mouth static at the chief.”
Tommy laughed. Evan joined him.
“I’m renowned for my fake mouth static,” Tommy said, trying to sound serious, even though he knew himself it had been terrible.
“It was not great,” Evan said through a laugh.
Tommy wanted to hear him laugh all the time. He wanted to be the one to be the cause of the laughter. That would be enough. His conversation with Eddie had left him almost sure that he’d been right about Evan being straight and he didn’t think he would mind a platonic bond. Not when it was with Evan. When you were gay it wasn’t uncommon to have crushes on your straight friends. No one could blame Tommy for having a crush on his very straight soulmate.
“Come on,” he said and Evan laughed again. “Hey.”
“It was not convincing, but you did it anyway. You threw in with us, no hesitation. I was impressed. It, uh, it made me glad that you’re my soulmate.”
Tommy didn’t know what to say. He could only stare at Evan, watch him as he turned into another street and then he was parking his car outside an apartment building.
“Here we are,” Evan said.
Tommy walked into the apartment before Buck, so Buck got to see his first impression as he looked around. He also got to take Tommy in from the back. How even the way he walked was confident, and how yes his jeans did hug his ass nicely.
“Wow. Maybe I’m working at the wrong station,” Tommy said and he took a quick look around. “Very impressive.”
“I, uh, didn’t pick it out,” Buck said as he followed inside.
Tommy threw him a curious look.
“It was an old girlfriend. This was probably the third or fourth place we looked at and she really liked it.”
“Oh,” Tommy said. “But, uh, you got to keep it?”
Buck realized all at once that he was giving Tommy the wrong impression.
“No. No. We, uh, picked it out for me,” Buck said. “Ali traveled a lot for her job, but we were never going to move in together. For one thing I met her on a call and for another, she couldn’t handle the reality of my job. I did get this nice apartment out of it, though, so that’s the upside.”
“I guess so,” Tommy said.
“Do you want something to drink? I still owe you a beer, right?”
“Maybe just water,” Tommy said. “But I will cash in that beer another time.”
Buck pulled a couple of glasses out, bringing out a pitcher from his fridge to pour into them. He found that Tommy had wandered further into the apartment, making his way into Buck’s living room.
“Hey, Evan, aren’t you missing something important over here?”
Buck laughed. “It’s kind of a long story.”
Tommy looked more than a little curious as he walked back. He also looked ridiculously good in his apartment, almost like he belonged there. Buck hadn’t noticed the leather jacket when they were outside Eddie’s house, but he appreciated it as Tommy walked over. Buck motioned to the stools at his kitchen island.
“Since I don’t have a couch,” Buck said.
“I want to hear all about that,” Tommy said as he pulled a stool out. “First I guess there are other things.”
“Yes,” Buck said and he watched as Tommy took his jacket off, draping it on a nearby chair.
“We’re soulmates,” Tommy said as he sat down and there was just so much of him.
His henley clung to his arms, showing a bit of muscle. He was so broad and Buck didn’t know quite what to do with that information or why he cared so much to notice it.
“What does that mean for you?” Tommy asked.
“I asked Bobby that same question just yesterday,” Buck said.
“And what did he say?”
“I actually don’t think he said much,” Buck said. “Looking back, I think I rambled on about some stuff I read up on.”
Tommy smiled. “Yeah? Whatcha got, Evan?”
His eyes were intense as they stared at Buck and there was still something about how he said Buck’s first name. Everytime Tommy said it, Buck felt something akin to relief, it was nothing like the itchy feeling when his mom or dad used it.
“Have you heard of Plato’s Symposium?”
“Can’t say I have. Enlighten me.”
Buck explained it. He told Tommy about how the Symposium had broken down several speeches that Plato assigned to certain philosophers and writers at the time.
“The one that explained love was more or less an explanation of soulmates. Historically there are some records of soulmates, but this was one of the first explanations. The myth. The idea being that originally we all had two heads, four arms, and four legs. We were complete. A god or several gods punished everyone by splitting them in two. And so we were left on a search for our other half.”
“That’s interesting,” Tommy said. “Odd visuals, but interesting.”
Buck let out a relieved sigh. “Yeah. So, if I see it that way then I kind of get it. And it supersedes romantic love…it’s about literally finding the person whose soul was split from yours…the one that compliments yours.”
Buck had been staring at his hands as he spoke, but he looked directly at Tommy then and he had no idea what to make of the soft look that Tommy was giving him. Something like fondness, like he was appreciating Buck in a new way.
“That’s beautiful.”
“Oh,” Buck said.
“No one has ever put it like that. Mostly people think soulmates are supposed to just be really similar. Complimentary…that’s nice.”
Buck knew he was blushing. He could feel how warm his face had gotten. He grabbed for his glass of water, downing some of it.
“I never thought about it much,” Buck admitted. “My parents are soulmates which is wild but I guess them being awful parents has nothing to do with that. I was so excited when I found out about Hen and Karen. Just knowing they had found each other, you know. Chim and my sister had a hard time of it because of Doug, but look at them now. They’re even getting married in a few weeks. I guess it looks different for everyone, but I think it’s important. I think it means a great deal, right?”
Tommy was smiling back at him. “It does. It means a lot. My grandparents were soulmates,” Tommy said. “They were very devoted to each other. I get what you’re saying. I guess the real question is what this means for us.”
Buck could sense that Tommy was being cautious, that there was a reason he was placing it all on Buck, but Buck had no idea why when it affected both of them. Tommy’s eyebrow was raised in question and he took a sip of water.
“This is…it’s a platonic bond, isn’t it?” Buck made himself ask.

the gay!eddie storyline, and how it should go
this is gonna be a long one, so read under the cut
abc has the potential to do the most groundbreaking thing since 4/4/24, and that is a properly fleshed out, tear inducing catholic deconstruction coupled with a sexuality crisis leading to eddie realizing he's gay and in love with buck (with mention of how he still loved shannon, just not in the way he wanted to)
before i go into this, let me set the record straight (ha) and say that while eddie doesn't necessarily need to realize his feelings yet, i believe that he's the type of person to not let himself even think about his sexuality until it's staring him down in the form of being in love with his best friend.
anyways
they've already lain the groundwork. the fact that he ran at every given chance from shannon, even moved within driving distance of her and never picked up contact until chris' needs required it. the fact that he panicked at the idea of being a ready made family with ana, even admitting that he was in the relationship for chris and that he had hoped he would learn to love ana. the fact that he was most definitely in one long panic attack the entirety of 7x05.
why did he ask marisol to move in off screen? why did he ask her to move in after we'd only gotten two mentions of her the entire season (both in relation to her helping with chris)? i think he was overcompensating again. trying to fill that motherly role, and as he said in 7x01, he's a nester. he nests.
though, if you ask me, he's a very bad nester unless it's with buck.
furthermore, why did finding out marisol flunked out of nun school send him into a panic? you could argue that it's strictly catholic guilt, and that may be true, but to me it seemed like the catholic guilt was only the top layer.
eddie's never had a problem with being with a woman pre-maritally. when he was with shannon, he was still fully immersed in his family's catholicsm, so if this was a problem he was going to have, you would think that it would appear then, right? so what's the difference between when he was in el paso with shannon, and now with marisol?
he's had eight years to figure himself out. well, not completely, but he's getting there.
i think eddie has been on the verge of figuring out his feelings for buck, and that's what made him panic and ask marisol to move in. if marisol is living with him, then when buck is over for weekly movie nights or what have you, marisol will be there as a buffer. he doesn't understand why he's feeling the way he is, but with marisol around, the chances of him being alone with buck are fewer, and the chances of having to address the feelings are even less so.
so now, he's unpacking marisol's boxes, and he sees the picture. and freaks out. because here is the very thing he was trying to avoid. and now it's living in his house.
but, why does he only panic when it comes to sleeping with marisol? because it makes him think of the one thing he hasn't allowed himself to. and that's buck.
this fact coupled with buck just starting to question his sexuality is what's going to push eddie over the edge. sure, he's going to be the most supportive best friend he can be, but in the back of his mind he's going to wonder why he gets a sick feeling in his stomach as he watches buck and tommy dance, as he watches them flirt on scene where air ops was called, as he watches them interact at the grant-nash barbecue buck invited him to.
eddie runs. he doesn't face things until it hits him in the face, and even then sometimes he still ignores it. when he does face it, it's going to hit him all at once, and he'll probably panic and probably run to hen and karen's house, and there will be lots of tears. and angst. and i can't wait

OMG i still feel like I'm in a fever dream. I keep refreshing tumblr just to make sure that it HAPPENED.
We've been waiting for this for so long, i can't believe that they made Buck Bi!! Also here is the thing i want Buddie to happen and I am a hundred percent sure that it's happening (i don't know why people are thinking that it's not like???) the way i could see this going down is buck and tommy exploring their relationship and Buck beginning to question more and more things such as his relationship with Eddie. I WANT and him and Tommy to be in a relationship for a while (because they're actually pretty cute) and eddie pining. tommy will be the catalyst for Buddie.
Also: Oliver stark literally said, Buck has a crush, gets the person (exactly what happened with tommy) and that he has to work for his relationship to work and ryan saying "closer than ever??"
I also hate the fact that so people are mad and hating on the actors , that it wasn't with Eddie. Like of course a Buddie conformation would've been great, but we all knew that that wasn't gonna happen in this episode? We got FUCKING BI BUCK !!! Let's just celebrate this and just watch this beautiful story unfold. I really love reading your prediction and your positivity, please continue with that !!!
What do you think is going to happen in the next episodes? Sorry for the long ask!!
Sameee like I keep trying to be normal then I REMEMBER I’m like wow I didnt hallucinate that??
Exactly like they flat out called Tommy a plot device, confirmed he’s here for a little bit and that it’s a fling, so enjoy it as much as you want to while it’s here but don’t lose hope for buddie people? like legit this is the biggest confirmation buddie is on the horizon
YES THE INTERVIEWS HAVE BEEN REALLY FEEDING INTO MY DELUSION
Like let’s not forget Ryan saying they’re trying to give the people what they want🫡and that they are closer than ever - like legit he has no reason to say this in the same season buck realises he’s bi unless something BIG is gonna happen for buddie (maybe not full canon but vibes???)
Anyone hating on the actors can legit fight me.
Oliver and Ryan have been such troopers for the fandom and Oliver now with this storyline you can tell how much he genuinely loves buck and like understands him as a character but also how to give this storyline what it deserves. Like Oliver has been endlessly respectful to the fandom too like he’s been making sure that he doesn’t get peoples hopes up while also trying to play buck in a way that is true to the character. Like did you guys see his message to the fans? Or his interview talking about how he was gonna actively play buck as bi this season as much as he can even before he got told abt the kiss. Like that man hasnt just been supportive of the fandom he’s been an advocate for us and for buck which is such a wonderful thing.
Also yeah it wasn’t Eddie but do people realise that it’s VERY hard to write an up to now presumed straight character’s self discovery in their 30s LET ALONE TWO?? Like Tim found the easiest way to set the scene for the new audience and the GA who won’t have picked up on early seasons undertone and the little things planted throughout and while I would’ve loved buddie without the middleman I completely understand why they did it this way and I’ll enjoy seeing it unfold
And YES EXACTLY BI BUCK like that alone is a MASSIVE win like we are getting such rare bi rep of not only a guy in a very “macho” job and a womaniser type character BUT ALSO a person figuring stuff out in their 30s not in a repressed full of sex shame and guilt way but in a they genuinely just never explored that side of them!! Like that’s so huge we can talk for hours about how many queer rep stories are just plain depressing but this one is so authentic while also being quite light and sweet
Also aww thanks I genuinely love these asks sm (me? In love with everyone who sends me an ask? More likely than you think🤭🤭🤭)
Also omg I’m sorry this is so long like I spent most of this talking about everything except your question😭😭
Okay so predictions:
So we know that Buck is gonna tell some people and some will be surprised some not so much and some will be like it’s about damn time, my bets are:
chimney- surprised but maybe not through insider info (Maddie)
Maddie- KNOWS HAS KNOWN but the only shocker for her is that it wasn’t Eddie like I can imagine the confused and so tired face rn, I think she probs has either thought he knew or knew he didn’t and just was giving him the time and dropping as many hints as she can in the meanwhile
Bobby- supportive father icon, KNOWS (and while he also I fully believe is the buddie captain as well he will play it a little closer to vest if you get what I mean- but inside he’s going insane and his eye is twitching because he poached Eddie for his dumb bi son only for them to ACT married for six seasons and go to him for dating advice abt other people constantly and now that his son is a man kisser it’s not the man Bobby was hoping for😔 pray for him y’all)
Hen- she’s the it’s about damn time response
Athena- also might be the it’s about damn time response
Ravi- in a permanent state of confusion- not about this he’s just confused always (also still fully convinced the poor guy thought buddie had been married cos that headcanon is endlessly amusing to me)
Now for actual plot I think that like the date is low-key a train wreck after the Eddie and Marisol interruption and that either we get a chenford-like double date or we just have a brief intereuption from Eddie and that’s a minor thing and like it’s buck admitting it’s his first date with a guy who hates throws a lot of questions in the air because Tommys reaction was a bit 👀 like I think it’s more or less confirmed that Tommy was repressed for a while when working with captain dickhead so maybe he’s like gonna be taking a step back cos he thinks buck needs more time to like explore this part of himself (but I hate that trope so hoping not) or maybe we get the buddie shipper daydream and Tommy is like more aware of buddie than buddie are and he either says that to buck as the reasoning but buck doesn’t tell Eddie that OR he says something cryptic about it to buck and buck doesn’t fully understand and he’s like you will eventually👀👀👀 (I need a lobotomy yes the delusions are a part of me now)
I hope that Marisol gets the fuck out right about now but I say that every episode 🫡 (edy’s face and voice make me wanna scream I hate her homophobic, transphobic ass sm)
Anyways I’m gonna shut up now bye love ya thank ya and sorry 🫡🫡

Tidbit Tuesday
Thank you for the tags @forthewolves @panbuckley, @prince-buck-diaz, @thewolvesof1998, @spotsandsocks, @jesuisici33, @911onabc, @wikiangela and @devirnis You are all so amazing!
NFL Buck is up to 12k with no end in sight. Haha. But here is a tidbit.
“Eddie, you need friends. Ones that are in the same state, the same city. Tommy, Kealia, your sisters, they are miles away now. I know that they will gladly pick up the phone, answer a text if you need to talk to someone, but having friends who can physically be there for you especially after a tough call, is much more beneficial.” Buck argues. Eddie wants to dispute his boyfriends’ claims.  He has enough friends, he has his family, he has Buck and his son.  He even has Maddie, who is practically his sister as well as Buck’s.  His circle is small, and it needs to stay that way. It’s easier for him, for Evan, for everyone. There are less secrets to keep, little to no lies to tell.  Making new friends means opening up about all the struggles he’s been through to get where he is, sharing his true emotions, his fears and then holding onto a sliver of hope that the judgement that comes afterwards isn’t pitying or unkind. He opens his mouth to tell Buck as much, to tell him that he’s fine being a trustworthy co-worker, a guy to share a beer with here and there, maybe attend one of their cookouts with Christopher to show team comradery.  But Evan knows him too well and sees Eddie’s protest before he probably even thought about them, “Baby, they’re not asking you for your deepest darkest secrets or your entire life story…at least not yet.  What they’re asking is basic get to know you stuff and by being so stubborn and mysterious about it, you’ve only made them more curious. Be less of a mystery, share just a little more but without in depth details on well…me.” The quarterback chuckles, “I have a feeling that a little will go a long way with these people. And if you don’t want to answer, say as much or just redirect. Tell them about some of the calls back in Texas, or hey, better yet start asking about them. Get to know them too. Who knows maybe, just maybe they can become trustworthy enough to share the fact you landed a scorching hot top 5 NFL quarterback.” God his boyfriend was too smart for his own good, and maybe a little too full of himself as well, but its merited. Evan Buckley was stupidly handsome, a very talented athlete, and was giving Eddie great advice.  He just needed to listen and advise by it.
Buck can be very wise I believe, he just doesn't take a lot of his own advise. Hope you all enjoyed! If you want to see more NFL Buck search under the nfl tag on my page.

Season 7 of 911 if I was a writer/in charge. It's a bit much...
Now I don't know what abc has planned for the rest of the season; however, if I had been pacing the season...
Episodes 1-4 remain the same...loved the pacing and the storyline. That 3 part premiere was amazing. Episode 4 was set up beautifully.
Now on to 5...I think that this should have been just the storyline with Buck x Tommy and Eddie x Marisol. Add in a call that connects to both situations like they used to do in seasons 1 & 2. And have some of the wedding planning happening. Maybe with all the girls, outfit shopping? Situation arises from another wedding party. We also get a mention of Hen's excitement for their new addition to the family and Athena can bring up Harry and how he's doing with his community service. I just want that connection of episode and storyline back.
7x06 I personally think that Henren's storyline should have been pushed to this episode. That would have given them more room to let the audience focus on them. Add in the call we got in 7x05 abt the dog. And to give us a lighter note and breathing room...date montage...Eddie x Marisol and Buck x Tommy. Show both couples learning abt each other and having a great time doing it. Yes I know it will upset some people, but oh well. We also get Maddie x Chimney planning the wedding in that montage.
7x07 Best Man/Maid of Honor...the 118 realizes that neither Maddie nor Chimney have stated who is going to be what in their wedding. Questions and havoc arises...at home, in the station, and on call with them trying to prove who should be what.
7x08 WEDDING and apparently a wild bachelor party gone wrong. Chimney vanishes? All the families need to be there. I have no idea what they have planned, but I do oh so hope that Tommy brings Chim back to the wedding in his helicopter. All couples get a slow dance... Bobby x Athena, Eddie x Marisol, Hen x Karen, Maddie x Chimney, Buck x Tommy
7x09 Honeymoon for Maddie x Chimney...saving a life at some point and then getting right back to the honeymoon. Bobby and Hen talking to Buck abt his relationship. We need to see Hen and Bobby's reaction. And Hen and Tommy I feel deserve a moment as well, so they can have that when Tommy comes to pick Buck up after shift. Talks all around. But it actually turns out to be a double date between Eddie x Marisol and Buck x Tommy. Tommy gets called in... has to leave Buck with a sweet kiss goodbye.
7x10 Finale. Storm/fire or something that Tommy was called in from last episode. Maddie dispatches the 118 to help after his team calls for backup. I'm picturing a cliffside mansion up in flames, probably cause I've been reading some amazing ao3. Either that or a high rise... one way or another the helicopter is going down with Tommy barely escaping and Bobby dispatching the team to both save Tommy, get the people out, and put out the fire. I want to see a full circle... Tommy was with them risking all to save Athena x Bobby. The 118 are going to do whatever it takes to get to him while still doing the rest of their jobs. I want them worried, determined, and all the amazing things they are. 118 officially adopts Tommy into the family even though he stays stationed as a pilot. We get family dinner at Bobby x Athena's with all the beautiful and happy couples.
And that's all I got! Cue end of season 7.

Anti Bucktommy
Eddie deserves better than that raggedy storyline he was handed.
Don't read below the cut if you ship bucktommy because this is an ANTI-BUCKTOMMY ZONE!
Full Disclosure: Eddie is my favorite character and IMO the way he was charcterized in 7x4 was horrifically horrible.
It's been a few hours since the episode aired and I believe I'm finally at a place where I can articulate how damn angry I am about the way EDDIE DIAZ was treated throughout the episode.
Before it aired, I was still on the fence regarding if I should watch live because I didn't want Buck and Eddie to argue/fight but I sure as hell didn't want either of them to get injured. I really tried to keep an open mind about Buck’s storyline but I'm not sure how to process the fact that they made Eddie out to be the villain for the third time. First it was the lawsuit, then it was Buck's coma dream where he was charcterized as "Angry" and now this. He was the one injured but Tommy had to tell Buck to call Eddie and he was just like "ok" when pre-Tommy Buck would have taken Eddie to the hospital and stayed with him until he was better. But it appears everyone forgot how Buck dropped everything to take care of Eddie and Chris after Eddie’s breakdown since Buck finally kissed a guy.
Eddie
So... first things first. Eddie FINALLY ADMITTED HE'S TAKEN but when did that happen because Marisol has been on screen for like 5.098 seconds in 4 episodes. Second, why didn't Eddie ask her to babysit Chris? I mean if they're in a committed relationship or whatever, then shouldn't he have asked her? That would have made more sense but if he had then he wouldn't have been able to ask Buck to do it. And finally, why was his actions towards Buck made to seem like he was intentionally being mean? The pre-7x4 Eddie Diaz wouldn't have done that because he knows how self-deprecating Buck can be. Reminder he called Buck Evan first and it wasn't like he was trying to put him in his place like Tommy was and will do. Tommy's actions towards Buck didn't show that he even liked him since he was dismissive but this isn't about that, it's about Eddie.
Now, I still can't tell if Eddie's actions were supposed to be funny or WTF but the way they had him acting like he was inconsiderate towards Buck’s feelings was just WRONG! Furthermore making it seem like he was using him and rubbing his nose in it since he had a new friend was NOT OK! FYI, the way everything played out validated some of those Facebook moms' thoughts because they've already posted that they believe Eddie uses Buck to babysit for him so he can go out and have fun 👀.
Additionally, Eddie was shown to be the one Buck’s affection... no fuck that, LOVE was directed towards only for Buck to literally injure him and ACT like he did it because he wanted to be with fucking Tommy Kinard? I call BULLSHIT and at this point I don't like Buck very much right now because of the way he acted in this episode.
Showing Eddie using Buck to babysit Chris and talking at him and ignoring him while he was hanging out with the guy who basically called Buck stupid and unbelievable to his face was just bad writing. Of course there will be those who say, "Let the story play out because it was just one episode" but the audience has been here before waiting for Buck to finally get it and nothing changed except he's dating a man now. None of this was ok and even though Maddie told him don't do it again, that was fine I guess but what in the actual fuck was this raggedy ass storyline? There was a better way to handle this without making Eddie the villian.
If all Tim Minear wanted to do was set Buck up with someone other than Eddie, then he could have picked a better character than Tommy. Also, there's an article that indicates he was planning to bring Lucy back for this storyline and it's ridiculous. She already put her lips on Buck without his permission and Tommy did the same thing and so did Taylor.
At this point, I don't know how to feel about Buck. But I do care about Eddie who was called "Angry" in Buck’s coma dream and who Buck actually fucking physically injured during a basketball game because he's jealous that Eddie was hanging out with Tommy.
I can't support a toxic relationship and that's what I saw happening between Buck and Tommy in 7x4.
IMO, The math ain't mathing and this is... not good storytelling.

I have realized what is making my head explode when a BT post accidentally goes through my tags!!!! They are completely ignoring Buck is bi. They are acting like my aunt in the early 2000s. I may not have been fond of all the LUs but they were valid relationships. If Taylor had not fucked up who knows where that relationship would have gone. I mean clearly nowhere once Eddie was out because once Eddie broke up with him he spiraled and kissed Lucy. But they are still valid relationships and at this point in time I don't see how Tommy is better than any of them. To be honest he has the worst traits of Abby and Taylor but the screen time of Ally. So frustrating.
Well, when have people ever been normal about bisexuality? But here's the thing, every relationship Buck had so far had his own set of issues that somehow have been reduced to the way he was dating women, which is fucked in so many ways and the amount of times I have to stop myself from picking a fight because of bucktaylor it's actually hysterical to me because we're seriously at a point where I need to defend the validity of Taylor's place in Buck's life. Like, how did we get here? Because here's the thing, do I think Buck and Taylor were meant to be? No. Do I think Buck would've clung to her until he literally couldn't anymore if her actions hadn't hurt his family? Absolutely. I see Buck going as far as panic proposing to her if that particular situation hadn't happened, just to have someone. Because they had chemistry and Buck kept trying to force that to become love. Taylor was wrong for Buck for a multitude of reasons, but none of those reasons were because she's a woman and Buck is gay. And the relationship with Tommy is not gonna magically last forever just because Tommy is a man. Tommy is this weird amalgamation of all of Buck's love interests with Ali/Ana levels of screentime and he doesn't magically have a fighting chance just because he has a dick and people can't seem to see this. And I think that's crazy. Because Tommy was given to us in an episode that had the theme of not recognizing people, while actively making us think it was about someone else and then they did the Kim storyline and I want to scream because people can't see the parallels. And the more I look at it the more insane I get because he's all of Buck's love interests smashed into someone who's Eddie two steps to the left with none of the things we love about him. But somehow he's perfect because he's not a woman. The only thing Tommy has going for him is not being a woman. You turn him into one and none of the things he did would fly. Letting Buck get away with physically hurting Eddie? Leaving him in the curb? Not dressing up? Making a kink joke after someone Buck loves almost died? Picture those scenes with Lucy and tell me anyone in the fandom would be shipping them. Let alone fighting for them the way people are right now. But he's a man so he gets a pass and that's so fucking weird. Evan Buckley is bisexual but getting dicked down isn't going to magically make everything perfect. Jesus.
Also, since you mentioned Eddie coming out, something that I've been thinking about since we found out it was supposed to be Eddie, a Buck who thinks he's straight finding out Eddie has a boyfriend would shortcircuit. I legit think they could not find a way to write Buck's reaction to Eddie being queer that didn't end with him figuring his feelings out so they switched things up, so Buck would for sure would've gotten there once Eddie got there because he would've had big feelings about it and Buck is not the repressed one.
