aside from drama? and i mean that seriously. i know everyone had headcanons and wants for years here but they're building tension. there was no real tension in part one outside of sexual and the stakes need to be higher for the penultimate episode.

the next bit is spoilers we know have been pretty much seen by too many people for ep 5 at least so wander under the cut at your own risk:

i think, and i know a lot of people aren't going to be thrilled about colin not knowing before some things happen, that they need to do two things: solidify their relationship a bit and basically send penelope into a spiral to take the stakes higher.

they have plot armor, they're not going to behead penelope right there in the queen's garden with the peacocks once she gets caught. the only thing truly up for grabs is polin. and not even that, not really, but it's the thing the audience is going to care about.

the spoilers have penelope trying to tell him but failing because she keeps getting interrupted. every time she fails, the clock ticks further. it's a pressure build. eloise is on her back. colin is just wandering along, deliriously happy and penelope knows she's carrying this bomb she's gonna blow up in his face.

she lost eloise to it. colin is the love of her life. i think we can all do that math. she's so stressed out by eloise's timeline she can barely breathe and then comes cressida.

you've got cressida taking credit for LW, colin's happiness sitting on her shoulders (tho i do think it's also so smart of them to have him defend penelope to portia before he finds out, it might give him some insight to how penelope is treated and feels when the right time comes), eloise is assuming things and giving her hell.

i mean, wouldn't you be a mess too? like, give the girl some grace her entire life is imploding right after getting what she's always wanted and never thought she'd get and losing the two most important people in the world to her only a few months before. would you want to blow that up again? yes, yes, i'm sure everyone who says "but she has to!" is very morally outraged and perfectly righteous in their own lives scoffs at the idea that penelope might struggle with a secret she doesn't know what to do with.

it's not like we've never seen how that eats her up before, right? oh. we totally have. nvm.

anyways. cressida. i kind of hope it's the turning point for peneloise because i think even eloise knows she's not a good person to have in a position of power like that. say what you want but penelope doesn't lie in LW.

add in they seem to be bringing in book scenes and i'm going to guess colin catches her after she takes off to print something saying cressida is a whole ass lie. fight ensues. angst! stakes are ridiculously high. the wedding is planned. the pedestals are knocked over and now colin will know everything. does he love her after that? can he? does he trust her ever again? (clearly yes or they're gonna need to change up that family tree thing they released lol).

this will give way to colin having to come to terms with penelope's legacy and how it affects his own estimation of himself and his writing. jealousy like the book. it's a colin issue and he knows it but he still has to deal with it.

colin very much thinks penelope is his purpose, right? the book says it. LN said it about show colin. he's gotta reconcile that LW and penelope are two halves of the same person. he can't put them both in boxes.

anyways what i mean is that the stakes need to be high and her blurting it out then having 2.5 episodes of them moping around about their LW fight isn't really the thing that gets your heart racing when you've got 8 episodes to tell the whole story.

(also as an aside, i think it's going to lead to us getting second "firsts" in a way. it's not going to be a first kiss or anything but i feel like the energy of it all will be different and i, personally, think that could be very fun)

Easy. The actual things wrong with them.

A lot of the discourse surrounding them is fabricated, or has such poor priorities it might as well be fabricated. Most critical conversations about them surrounds things people just made up over the course of years of mythologizing their #Problematicness.

For Example: Most of the discourse surrounding why Horuss had problematic writing had to do with how he was "Bad Otherkin Representation", when the real issue was the fact that Hussie was conflating Being Otherkin with having a Dissociative Disorder, and in turn saying both of them are the exact same level of Fake And Gay for the exact same reason, because to Hussie they were the same thing. To this day, people get startled every time I point out that Horuss is canonically a System despite him bringing it up just as regularly as he does being Therian. Those are totally wack priorities.

Interesting, watching several people refer to "his facade" lately, when, like... What are they talking about, honestly? He's pretty bold-faced about his whole deal. This isn't really a Dave situation where you could be capable of falling for it when you're younger, because Cronus couldn't be doing a worse job at "hiding" how awful he is. He's not even trying, because he knows he can get away with it. What are the other Alphas gonna do? Leave?

There comes a point where it's almost comedic how unaware people are of it... Like, what do you mean you know he's a Horse Therian but not that he's a System? He literally calls himself the Host of a System and talks about Switching. IN THOSE TERMS. He's not even obfuscating it by using some esoteric Troll terminology, he is LITERALLY using the words "Host", "System", and "Switching".

It's painful. I know this is a moment befitting of an XKCD comic, but... Jeez. You'd think these things would both be on the same level of common knowledge, considering how they're traits that are directly related to each other and given equal amounts of screen time, but nope!

Sometimes the tentacles act out on their own. Imagine you're sitting together talking about stuff, but he accidentally pulls you with him when he gets up because a tentacle subconsciously made its way out from under his clothes and sneakily wrapped around your ankle cuz the guy is clingy.

He really really wants you working for him but is also conflicted about it. Having a human in the lounge would def make more people come in...but then it means a bunch of other guys are gonna be near you and want your attention...he doesn't like that part.

Oh man, HERE WE GO... (and most of these are with Dean/Mox in mind),

-"Big Dog"/Shield Roman cries during sex from feeling overwhelmed and over stimulated. *Roman got extra emotional during his last time with Dean before he left the company and even Dean almost stayed because of that. 😭 -Roman LOVES Dean's mouth, especially when he's spilling absolute filth and saying everything he wants to do to Roman in that rough and raspy voice.

Oisin left a note in Adaine's locker asking her to prom freshman year. It was at Ivy's insistence. However, it was right before the bad kids ended up in jail for the death of Johnny Spells. So after days turned to weeks turned to months, that sliver of courage left and Oisin asked Kipperlily to break into Adaine's locker and steal it back. (It doesn't take much for Kipperlily to hate any of the bad kids but this is something she quietly judges Adaine for for years.) Oisin doesn't tell her until long after they've started dating.

It's 3 am and Oisin wakes Ivy out of trance to text her frantically, wondering if she thought it would impress Adaine if he got SO good at glyphs, he could write a message to her inside the giant orb she carries around. Ivy calls him a twat and tells him to go to bed. (The dragon in him, two years later, hopes she's impressed when that same magic throws her into the maws of his distant relatives.)

A headcanon Nick has is that Oisin is a leather worker as a hobby, making things like Ivy's quiver and his spellbook holster. He makes another spellbook holster (it's NOT a courting gift, Ivy, shut up) and leaves it in Adaine's locker early senior year (Kipperlily grumbling as she unlocks it). Adaine knows who it is by the clouds and lightning bolts etched into the leather. She does not thank him but she does wear it when she doesn't want to wear her backpack. (She thanks him belatedly, eventually)

Their first moonar yulenear as a couple, he makes her a sheath for the sword of sight. She thanks him immediately this time

Demi aroace Adaine had never had a crush before Oisin; she thinks the moment at Fabian's party is just the alcohol. She thinks it's a low grade panic attack when he waves at her in the hallway, when he messages her an apology for his party. (Embarrassingly, when she discusses it with her doctor, said doctor tells the young oracle that she likely doesn't need a higher dose of her medication because this isn't that sort of panic. She doesn't tell anyone about the mistake.)

Oisin ended up with an awful stomach ache after the party at Fabian's - he was NOT built to process milk. It's karma, and even he knew it.

Adaine admits to no one that Oisin is partial inspo for why she gets a magic tattoo between junior and senior year, instead crediting only Ayda and Fabian. She and Oisin do get matching tattoos after they get together - the design Nick and I have atm is the eye of the sword of sight surrounded by lightning bolts. (She's the oracle that survived the storm, after all)

EVERYONE knows about Adaine speaking draconic and how Oisin thinks that's very hot, and how they banter and snark at each other with it. But Nick and I have decided that Adaine speaks it almost exclusively the first couple of times Oisin visits Mordred Manor - the sheer love in that house overwhelms him and speaking in a language only Adaine knows makes it feel private and he can breathe a little easier. (Aelwyn teases her relentlessly for this)

Adaine doesn't trust him afer he's revived and he's mostly understanding. It gets old, how much she assumes the worst in him - deserved but still tiring. However, he never stops her when she casts Detect Thoughts. Is it invasive? Yes. Does he believe he owes her that much? Also yes. (She finds ways to disbelieve him anyway, for her own sanity. He gets it but he hates it.)

Eventually, when everything is love now, Fig suggests a double date with Ayda (Fig, who had always been so trusting, so willing to extend a hand, is one of the first bad kids to swallow her pride and try and make begrudging amends. Lucy's presence helps.). Oisin and Ayda get along like a house on fire and Adaine "I never really felt like a kid" Abernant, gets the very sweet teenage experience of sitting in a booth at a crappy dinner, with a boy's arm around her shoulders, laughing with her friends. Content. Happy. Silly. Young.

so I saw a post a bit ago about benny (the lego movie spaceman) and jay (lego ninjago) being cousins, and it has given me Thoughts. so here are some headcanons for that AU.

they're adoptive cousins, really- benny is ed and edna's niece's son (or something like that). so, they grew up fairly good friends

ninjago came out before the lego movie, so benny is younger than jay, by probably four or five years (I'm thinking he's about a year younger than lloyd?)

but benny is taller than jay. probably 5'10" to jay's 5'6" or 5'7"

when they were younger (maybe jay a teenager and benny middle school age), jay would always pick benny up and swing him around, and benny absolutely loved it. nowadays, since benny is taller, he'll pick jay up in greeting (this one in direct reference to the gorgeous fanart by @irodimww, link here)

benny discovered his love for building by hanging out at the junk yard and learning from jay (though, of course, benny ended up far more invested in tech than jay ever was- he became a master builder, after all)

benny always kept an eye on what the ninja were doing, especially when he was young, because he was so proud of knowing one of them (he had a habit of, while the ninja were saving the city, turning to anyone nearby and saying, "you know, jay's my cousin. and best friend. yeah he loves me")

in season one, when jay had that awesome ship, benny saw that and was like "yeah, that's the kind of thing I'm gonna build for the rest of my life"

and thinking about it, he'd realize he's never really spoken to you before

and he finds himself becoming more and more interested in the quiet kid who doesn't fawn over him like everyone else (the classic "you're different from the rest" trope)

he'd then approach you one day at the library, asking what you were doing

and you weren't really sure why he was talking to you all of a sudden, so you give a curt reply

that doesn't stop him, though

he begins meeting you at the library every day, asking you questions and distracting you from your studies

at first, he was just curious, but now he's begun to notice your presence in the back of the class that's always directed at things besides him

he begins searching for you in every class, asking you for help or to be partners for a project

whether you give in and become friends automatically or reject him at first, he would not be willing to give up

and when you do eventually become friends, you find him stuck to you everywhere you go

he'd trail behind you in hallways and move seats in class to be closer to you

so what do you do next when a random, cute boy shows up in front of your place?

and although you wanted to apologize, you figured you wouldn't have to see him again anyways

but nothing really goes your way

so when you open the door a few hours later to go out and you see him coming out from the place next to yours at the same time, you panic

when he notices your presence, he gives a small wave but that sends you into even more of a frenzy as you rush back inside

realizing that you can't be wary of your hot neighbor forever, you decide to introduce yourself to him the next day

and when you do, things seem to have gotten better

now you greet him whenever you run into each other

but of course, nothing ever goes right for you

you spend the next two weeks bumping into the door, spilling coffee, and stuttering whenever you see him

you could've sworn he put a curse on you

but when you realize your heart begins thumping against your chest whenever you catch a glimpse of him on his balcony, you realize it's much worse

but too preoccupied with your own thoughts, you don't even see soobin staring at you as he sits outside

your clumsy antics made you seem cute (and a hazard to society)

and he began looking forward to running into you every day and night

and he finds that he was looking forward to more than just the way you stuttered at his presence

he had spent 15 minutes that morning trying to decide whether wearing glasses would make him look intelligent or not, ultimately deciding to wear it in hopes that you're attracted to guys who look smart

and the day before that, he got ready 20 minutes in advance so that he could leave at the same time you did in order to greet you

and now he was on the balcony, wondering if he looked mysterious as he rested against the edge

and although he had noticed a few glances from you, he wasn't sure whether you were interested or not

so he tries to gather some courage to ask you to hang out someday

and he does !! (after a little motivation from his friends)

so he knocks on your door the next day and asks whether you're free or not, and if you wanted to go to a cafe with him

and when he notices the blush on your face as you nod your head yes, he realizes that maybe it wasn't just one-sided after all

BEOMGYU: rivals to lovers

you're in opposing bands who happened to debut around the same time

of course, this drew fans to wonder if there would be any competition between you two

but you harbored no resentment towards him or his band as far as you were concerned

of course, until @/beomchoi23 made a tweet saying your singing made him want to never listen to music again

that's when it all went south

you took it upon yourself to reply back to him, leading to a very long thread full of snarky remarks and at least three curse words (which your company reprimanded you for)

and when you see beomgyu and his band performing ahead of you, you made sure to wear the ugliest scowl on your face

and when he felt someone drilling a hole into his head, he turns around to face you, throwing you an even uglier glare

and when he leaves the stage and passes by, he makes sure to stick his tongue out

and while one of beomgyu's members drags him away by his ear and apologizes, you can't help yourself but take out your phone and tweet about his rude behavior

of course that only leads to another argument with user beomchoi23 and another lecture from your manager, but you weren't one to back down from a fight

then you meet him again, except this time he was sitting across from you

with the drama both you and beomgyu had caused, the company organized a duet in order to calm things down

and although you could feel beomgyu glaring at you with distaste, you couldn't argue about it

and that's how you both ended up in a recording booth together

"i can't believe i have to work with you" "well i'm not exactly happy about it either"

and despite his rude behavior, you had to admit he had a good voice

and although he wouldn't ever say it out loud, it was obvious he thought the same about you with the way he was staring (this time with less annoyance)

and even though you didn't quite like him yet, he was good at his job

so the next few weeks went by with small bickering, but overall compliance from one another

and when the song was completed, it was a hit

you had noticed he had deleted his tweets about you, too

and whilst you were happy with that, he wasn't

unknownst to you, he had originally tweeted about you in order to get your attention

unfortunately for him, it was the wrong kind of attention

and although it did lead to a duet and weeks alone with you

he wasn't happy when he realized he didn't have a reason to talk to you again

so what was his solution? to tweet again

and when you see your mentions blowing up, you already know what happened

so you find him backstage, pulling him into an empty room

and when you ask him why he's upset again

he just says

now, you weren't an idiot

when a cute boy you've spent weeks alone with tells you he wants your attention, you blush

but you also know that he's told you he dislikes you multiple times now, so you also raise your eyebrow at him

and you do

it would be impossible to forget the boy who tweets that you annoy him only to blush whenever you made eye contact

there are many different ways you can connect with your soulmate

there's the one where you can't see color until you lock eyes with them

and as the days went by, you found yourself coming over more and more

and you were inseparable ever since

you even went through your awkward middle school phase together

and now you two were graduating high school together

but lately, he's been acting differently

every time you see him in the hallway, he seems to scurry off in the opposite direction

and when you call him over after school, he makes some excuse not to see you

so you wondered if you did anything to make him upset

sure you two have gotten in a few arguments before, but even then, he always reached out to you

so you weren't really sure where you messed up

and when you brought this up to your friends, they all just giggled and gave you a look you couldn't really decipher

it was confusing, to say the least

so you went over to his house and knocked on the door, waiting impatiently

and when hueningkai comes to the door, he stares at you for a moment in shock before he asks what you're doing here

and you almost stutter in disbelief as if he hasn't been avoiding you for days now

and when you ask him why, all he does is look away

and when you move closer to him, he steps back

heartbroken now, you decide to walk away

but before you could leave, you hear him shout something

"i like you!"

and you hear the door shut close, but you're left standing where you were

you never thought about your feelings until now

he looks at you, even now, with such caring eyes

and you hug him, almost afraid that he'd change his mind

and as you feel his arms wrapped around your waist, you realize how long you've been waiting for this

"do you ever think about how we would've never happened if you had a much lesser cool swingset?" "is that the only reason why you like me?"

stupid thing to complain about but in the internet hemisphere it sucks when you hear someone say they like "slasher movies" and you know inevitably that 9 times out of 10 it will never mean anything more then they like scream or the big three or black christmas . because other slasher movies from that decade that deserve the limelight just dont have the same, idk, 'yaoi' appeal or characters that fandoms can strip of their main source to project whatever they want onto them . like maniac or pieces or blood rage or edge of the axe or the burning or mortuary or whatever will never be That popular or ever mean anything in "slasher fandom" spaces cuz theres just no audience for it . it sucks that you have to really seek these convos out & all that artistry and passion goes down th drain .

‘tis i, nonbinary transfem tuvok enthusiast and recently i’ve been pondering the dynamic between her and transmasc b’elanna torres…. i love thinking of them having long conversations together about gender and cultural histories and their life paths and mental issues (real)

also tuvok’s quote of “there is nothing wrong in choosing to live” would be such an emotional statement to tell b’elanna who canonically has depression (they just like me fr). anyways these are my thoughts today take care my friend!! <3

I don't personally see Tuvok as being a positive person for B'Elanna to talk to about much of anything personal without like, some sort of change to how they interact with one another since I think he'd both intentionally and unintentionally antagonize her BUT I can absolutely see them looking at each other and feeling the gender envy even before they know what that particular sensation is. Knowing B'Elanna I bet she'd worry she has some kind of weird crush on him hehehe~ Someone starts a group for queer members of the crew to meet but it seems like more of a dating thing and they're all human and no one else is trans so B'Elanna leaves and runs into Tuvok and is like "Oh! I didn't see you in there." because it's common knowledge by this point that Tuvok's trans but Tuvok just does that 'obviously.' look and goes "...No." so B'Elanna leaves her alone but they happen to run into each other next week and the week after and it eventually becomes an unofficial thing and it's a real rollercoaster. It's a real russian roulette of what kind of a time you're gonna have - sometimes it ends in a fight and sometimes it ends in the most insightful realization you'll ever have.
