I rewatched Friday the 13th for the first time since I first saw it 23 years ago, at a sleepover in October just before my 13th birthday. It was one of the first horror movies I’d ever seen, if not the first—definitely the first slasher film, and it scared the fuck out of me then. So I was curious how I’d feel on a rewatch. I don’t know if I’m disappointed or delighted to report that it was not only not scary, it was dumb. lol

#not that it didn’t have redeeming qualities!#the twist and final act … and then the last minute extra twist #are really all pretty great #and I do get why it scared me. totally plays on the paranoia of being alone/vulnerable/in the dark/showering/sleeping etc #I just wasnt ready. but you’ve got to start somewhere to build up a tolerance #horror movies #friday the thirteenth #man the acting and dialogue though lol. who are these characters? why do we care about them?#I watched X the other night too and it reminded me a little of Friday the thirteenth except it was great #(that was partly what inspired the rewatch)#maybe could’ve been even better than it was but on the whole I was impressed #and while it didn’t deeply unsettle me or anything it did make me jump lol and I was stressed out for long stretches #movies

I'm at my horror movie club sitting and waiting for the movies to start.

#This club meets every sunday (and sometimes fridays) at a bar with a massive projector screen in the back where we can watch movies #and I've been coming for the last 6 months or so trying to work up the nerve to like. Talk to people here.#Mostly I show up watch the movie eat popcorn and then leave.#Maybe it would be easier if I sat at the bar? Idk. i've been feeling so close to elvis lately. it's almost scary. somehow finds his way to me when i feel like i'm getting into a bad headspace......truly love this man with all my heart.

I had a dream Ohio was getting an until then California only fast food place (not in and out) and I was so excited and I drove past it to see when it would be open.... not until August 2099. 😭 wtf

#that wasnt even the wildest part of the dream #and i saw the restaurant when i was trying to break out of the church camp i went to (had a breakdown in and went home 2 days early from)#when i was like 11 but i could drive and was like today aged #like why was i there 😭 and i was like running away bc it was like really eerie there and felt like post apocalyptic #then i got home and the station on our tv that is the only audio channel was gonna start playing jjba but only one part a year and every day #of the week they would only play a certain character focused episode and they were starting with part 3 (my beloved)#and the schedule was like sunday: dio. monday: avdol. tuesday: kakyoin. wednesday: jotaro. thursday: polnareff (i can never spell it 😭)#friday: joseph. and Saturday was just minor villian episodes sgdgdgdgdgdgd anyway all this starting at 8pm and i was mad #that kakyoin was on tuesday bc tuesdays i fall asleep early bc im off the next day and i was mad it wasnt like Thursday #then every pbs channel was playing a new cyberchase movie but they all started at different times so the movie wasnt synced among the #channels and i kept flipping between them instead of watching whatever one started last #at least it was half a funny dream though and not 100% a nightmare like my dreams usually are #oh and the jojo eps would be like ones from the series but also they just made up new ones but never told anyone when the new ones would air #so youd have to watch the whole time sgdgdgdggdgxgxg #marquilla

#i rewatched pearl last night and then im watching x rn #also i need to finish the scream movies cus i only ever watched up to like 3 or 4 #and theres like 6 i think?#i watched the first friday the 13th but i didnt really like it honestly #which is weird cus i like slashers #ill watch the whole series eventually because my brain wont let it go but #also i dont like things like saw that are almost purely gore #im a big fan of ari aster type stuff too
