I need to give such a shout out to Warframe artists for making the entire sentient ship tileset and sentient faction a bunch of the most yonic imagery I’ve ever seen in my life. It’s literally all vaginas, period blood and uteruses. Pelvises and pelvic bones of varying kinds. Every fucking door and most of the decorations literally just look like vaginal openings. I swear to god I’m not joking, look at this shit

And let’s be clear, it’s completely on purpose. The entire story of the sentients is centred around childbirth and sterility, the desire to have children and raise them, fuck even hunhow has a womb as of Jade shadows. The original eidolon wanted the unum’s light to restore its fertility. Lotus has quite possibly one of the worst cases of baby fever in the history of gaming. Literally the fucking containers on the tileset are meant to evoke the image of a pregnant sentient. The entrance to the murex is a god damn vaginal opening and it’s not even subtle. Or maybe the SPAWNING POOL OF WRITHING BLOOD THAT DEFINITELY HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH PERIODS WINK WINK

Sorry if the images are dogshit, I’m on my phone and can’t find/get better ones right now but seriously if you go look at the official concept art you can make an entire drinking game out of taking a shot every time you see something with vagina/uterus vibes. In fact you can actually do that with the entire art book for Warframe, it’s really funny actually, this game is the opposite of Berserk’s constant phallic imagery, this shit is yonic city fr.

Anyways, all this to say, they put a straight up vagina with a clitoris on stalker’s face and it wasn’t even subtle but most hilariously, almost definitely not intentional yet retroactively way too fitting with the rest of this game’s art aesthetic and the faction he joins.

Analysis of Paracelsus' initial bloodlust and its longlasting effects on A.B.A (Part 2)

Analysis behind the backstory and personal story arcs of A.B.A. and Paracelsus (part 1)

So this actually started out more of a 'funny' post, but I realized that it really is a very important insight into how A.B.A. and Paracelsus function and interact, especially for his earlier days in XX/Accent Core +R

And I wasn't joking about the vore. It's not in the erotic sense...but it certainly is in the 'literally eating parts of your partner ' sense...

Also apologies for the long word dumps, it got wordier and longer than I expected.

Paracelsus (used to) REALLY love blood

It goes without saying, Paracelsus really loves blood. Well he used to anyway.

By STRIVE, he says he felt he lost his sanity whenever he gets hyped on blood in the past. To the point, he has sworn off blood (and violence) as if it was an addiction. Basically, he has managed to go clean sometime between their last appearance and STRIVE.

To not go too far into his backstory again (which you can read here), Paracelsus is a magical axe that fed on blood and increased his own power with blood; and would use warriors as hosts to cause more bloodshed and thus gain more blood and power for himself. Paracelsus doesn't need to 'eat' blood to survive (he was left host-less for about 20 years, and now abstains in STRIVE and is just fine), making the addiction metaphor seem to be accurate.

Back in XX/ACCENT CORE, he needed to drink fresh blood to transform into his superpowered Moroha mode (this is mechanically replaced by Jealous Rage mode now). Similar to his current gameplay, he could get blood and transform by A.B.A. piercing someone with his bladed end; or if A.B.A. fed him one of three blood packs she'd have on her.

He reacts pretty much like a dog getting a treat, anticipating it when she reaches into her pockets for a pack too. And he truly didn't care where the blood comes from, even if it's from A.B.A. herself.

A.B.A. coughs up blood and all Paracelsus wants to do is have a taste. Note that he barely actually reacts to her or himself getting hit or fighting in the old games. It's kind of a stark contrast to his many reactions and concern for her wellbeing now.

Make no mistake, despite being "kinder and gentler" than how he treated his previous hosts - by not completely mind controlling her into a frenzy and caring enough that he doesn't want her to die - Paracelsus was truly obsessed with drinking blood still, and all the fighting skills and power he imparted on A.B.A. was to make her strong enough to defeat opponents and gather blood for him too. Hence the 'manipulation' he felt guilty of in STRIVE.

And he gets even more bloodthirsty in Moroha mode aka what Paracelsus is without his 'sanity'.

You're the worse you when on blood

Prior to STRIVE and Paracelsus' current sludgy form, his powered-up form gave him a goat's head and his persona changes into that of his old berserker self.

This increase in aggression and bloodlust also affected A.B.A. through their empathetic bond, making her also take joy in violence and also clearly hyperventilating and tweaking out in some animations, like she's high.

Not to mention that to fight in this mode, every time Paracelsus makes a successful attack, A.B.A. also gets damaged (hence 'Moroha' mode as it means 'double-edged'). In-universe, this could mean that Paracelsus is sapping both the blood of an opponent and A.B.A. at the same time, indiscriminately as he says.

And he seems somewhat crueler in this form, as he has an even more violent and vicious state above Moroha mode called Goku Moroha mode. He enters it by consuming another blood pack, but he also seems to bite down on A.B.A.'s hand without a care and holds onto it while he transforms.

The impact of all this on A.B.A

Picking up Paracelsus was truly a double-edged sword/axe for A.B.A. On one hand, he was older and savvier about the outside world (even though he spent like 20 years just rusting away on the ground somewhere) and having him as her emotional support key and literal weapon led her to actually daring to explore the outside world, and he provided and (attempted to) advised her on things she didn't know about.

On the other hand, Paracelsus' satiating his bloodthirst was still his main objective, and it was also hurting A.B.A. Although Paracelsus was making some effort to not outright get her killed, A.B.A's additional resilience as a homunculus probably also helped her survive take being Paracelsus' host as long as she did.

Paracelsus was the original toxic element in their relationship, and it's likely over the years he's come to realize and regrets the harm he was doing to A.B.A. constantly, and why he has completely sworn off blood and violence entirely by STRIVE.

However, his bloodlust fueled and amplified the worse tendencies of A.B.A. from early on, and this seems to have stuck with her till the present in STRIVE. Her current extremely violent reaction when feeling jealousy or anxiety is likely how she's been conditioned to do so by Paracelsus, even when he himself is no longer the source of that bloodlust.

The difference now is that A.B.A.'s new powered-up state of Jealous Rage is mainly fueled by her wrath and fear instead of Paracelsus' bloodlust. Paracelsus becomes sludge now, affected by the toxicity of her unstable emotions going haywire and her will becoming decidedly dominant over his. The one who is toxic has become inverted.

What's more, it seems that the skills Paracelsus imparted on her before also carried over and stuck with her, allowing her to fight independently since Paracelsus isn't trying to encourage her to violence this time. She's become so dominant that she now can even force a new form/transformation onto Paracelsus when she does her Overdrive The Law is Key, Key is King while in Jealous Rage.

In the game files, this red form is called the "Hyoui" form, meaning 'possession'. It being red is interesting because it seems to be a callback to Paracelsus' moniker of being the Sanguine Gale. The concept art also shows the pretty disturbing way he's being morphed into it by A.B.A. when she does the Overdrive.

When in her Jealous Rage mode, the bottom half Paracelsus' where his axe blade is, somehow becomes more axe-like than it ever has been in the games. In the earlier games, his blade half didn't change, only his head does into the goat-head. What's more disturbing is that eyes already started appearing on the axe half even while Paracelsus tries to maintain his original face as much as possible.

When executing the Overdrive, A.B.A. swings with the axe half as the sludge pulls from Paracelsus' face to form this new toothed red axe head. Is it a new persona? Is Paracelsus still conscious in his face half or in the axe half at all? Does 'possession' have double meaning where A.B.A. is possessed by her own wrath, but also Paracelsus is now the one being possessed by A.B.A.'s will into forming the red axe form?

The interesting thing too is that A.B.A. executes the Overdrive with precise strikes, liked a skilled warrior. IMO, at this moment A.B.A. ironically became the exact kind of warrior that berserker Paracelsus would have wanted and caused him to even revert back into that primal early form of his that was barely sentient. They gained perfect synergy for the attack, but both are literally out of their minds.

What started this post

Just a funny thing but the reason why I even thought of, and then looked into all this, was because of A.B.A.'s biting of Paracelsus at the top of the post. I was wondering why Paracelsus doesn't say a word of protest when she does this to him, then remembered that he used to kinda drink her blood (and turns out he too has bitten her before), and I think he's prolly thinking "I deserve this".

Fantasy High: Junior Year predictions that aren’t as much based in things I think will logically happen, but ones that either should happen or would be very fun/funny

Loose Duke reminiscent perception checks from Lou, constantly looking for Chungledown Bim.

Related, the return of Chungledown Bim, but they successfully escape him yet again.

Either a wedding between Hallariel and Gilear, or them having a kid. I just think Fig and Fabian would make great older siblings but also that they’d have a real hard time handling it.

Garthy O’Brien is at Mordred and it’s immediately clear that there’s something poly happening between them and Jawbone and Sandra Lynn.

Riz has some serious beef with another young licensed PI. This beef is mostly shown through Riz hissing at someone on the street, and they don’t meet this other person until episode 15. They’re pretty normal and the beef does not make sense.

A reveal that Porter is not evil or plotting something but that he was a member of Sandra Lynn’s adventuring party that she got kicked out of. Bonus if he was a deciding vote or the one who pushed her to leave. This would be fun to justify Fig’s paranoia a bit, but her reasoning was completely wrong. The best way for this reveal to happen would be for him to apologize (sincerely) to Sandra Lynn.

Adaine actually tries to include Alewyn in a lot of things, and they actually learn some important lore from Alewyn and she doesn’t put it forward in a condescending way.

Gorgug rolls up to Riz’s office, drags him out, and they go throw rocks at the river (like Riz wanted in Boys’ Night).

Another crab party live stream. That’s actually how the season opens. Kristen is crowned Crab King.

Someone suggests they go to a Drisden party. The boys scream “no” at the proposal.

Kristen succeeds in her first ever divine intervention roll (#BeardsleyBlessed)

Aguefort says something to Gorgug in the first episode about how difficult he finds him.

Gorgug changes his subclass. We had a lot of subclass changes at the end of fhsy and I think him focusing on artificing a bit more may cause him to refocus and not be as lost in rage as berserker works. The I’m going into a worry helps me think this lol

they start at level 11, there were talks of them double leveling post nightmare king forest but that wasn’t what happened with the one shots (which logistically makes a lot of sense to me). I also just think Adaine should get 6th level spells.

And finally, Brennan homebrews the spell Ice Feast, but only Adaine can cast it.

TMS - Author's note (Arc 1)

Today I'm stepping up to talk about TMS for a while. It's going to be a lot of blah blah, no TLDR, so hang in there or save it for later if you're brave enough, haha (¯▿¯)

So, another chapter of TMS draws to a close, with the difference that this time it's a whole saga that's coming to an end! That's a big relief for me, given that we recently celebrated the comic's 4th anniversary! That's almost the entire duration of my college life, and that's both an impressive and terrifying achievement lol.

The comic is divided into 3 arcs, each separated by an interlude. The first runs from part 1 to 8, with 201 pages total (wow!). In it, you are introduced to Mel, a young skeleton with a rather unclear past, who accidentally arrives in a a foreign timeline, along with other well known skeletons. Nowadays it's just an isekai haha. Throughout the arc, she proves to be a cautious Monster, quiet and somewhat withdrawn compared to the other skeletons we come across, notably Rus, Blue and Axe, who each got their own sequences.

Still, Mel in the last few scenes is starting to show more initiative, and the interlude will make this even more obvious, but we can expect her to open up a lot more during the next Arc, about her past, motives, goals and thoughts.

I could go on at length about what's in store for us in the interlude, but given that it's due for release sometime in 2024, I'm going to talk about the general story line instead. Although we follow Mel who is foreign to what's going on in this universe prior to her arrival, the other characters and events suggest that strange phenomena are taking place in Ebott, leading many people to become embroiled in a highly unusual affair. Crossing timelines, earthquakes, mysterious apparitions in the forest, something is afoot and the situation seems to be at a turning point when Mellow gets here.

Everyone has their own way of dealing with the situation and what to do next. Some are serious and pragmatic, like Black, others optimistic, like Blue, and others, like Papyrus, find themselves completely backed into a corner, forced to do their best to fix whatever needs to be.

A special case, however, is Axe, whom Mel meets in the forest as she investigates Mt. Ebott. The two have diametrically opposed views of their current condition. One wants to return to her world by any means necessary, regardless of the advantages of a peaceful world. The other, not so much. Both refuse to talk about their past and ignore the other's circumstances, but a sense of familiarity drives them to try to convince the other to stay or go. These are two stark positions to reconcile, and while we can expect Blue and the other skeletons to have their own views on the subject too, Mel and Axe are strangely "committed" in this interraction and resort to violence, spurred on by a unknown substance that causes Axe to momentarily lose control.

Mel is wounded, Axe unconscious, and the status quo disrupted. Other consequences follow this confrontation, and several questions are raised: Can Blue really help Mel when Axe accuses him of having already given up on going home himself? What is this mysterious entity Axe came across a few days earlier? The vibrations? What was that substance that made him go berserk? And what made him stop? Can we trust Mel and what she tells us? And many others.

Because as I'm sure many of you have come to realize, Mel has proven to be a rather unreliable narrator (or at least character since you don't follow her actual POV). Blatantly lying or omitting facts to others and readers alike, it's hard to know her next move and whether she's genuinely forgotten important infos (for it's well established at this stage that she has hazy memories and that they continue to deteriorate. The same applies to her health).

In the same way, each part of TMS so far has raised more questions than it has answered, but I can confidently say that the road is paved for Arc 2 to answer and put in perspective most of them, ahah.

Ah, this is also the moment when I can announce that ALL skeletons will be featured in the Interlude. Should be. Hopefully.

I'd also like to point out a few narrative changes for Act 2! The central characters, in particular. Original cast characters such as Undyne, Metatton and a veiled character will be more formally introduced, but we'll also meet up with characters we've already bumped into, but in a much more concrete way, such as Frisk and Alphys. I can't wait for you to get to know them! You can also expect more pov changes, more elipses and so on. Things are moving fast.

But that begs the question. When is it due? As said before, the first Arc lasted 4 years and I'm entering my last (and most crucial) year of college. I still don't know if I'll have time to get much of it done in 2025, but on the other hand, I'd like to strike while the iron's hot lest TMS be discontinued after a 1-year hiatus and my entry into the working world. Student loan, life and all. There are still plenty of things I'd like to bring to this project, and I now have the skills to actually carry them out, but on the other hand, the time involved has also increased exponentially.

Tbh with you, as an animation student, it's been one of my dreams since 2020 to do one of TMS's sequences in animatic or full anim, or even a trailer for the comic! But as a solo team, it's just unreasonable and I know it. But the parasite ----. Don't get me wrong, I could, but it would take me months and it's just not realistic when 80% of my time has to go into professionnal work that goes into my portefolio or adult stuff. I can't affort to invest time in solo-ing it or to recruit and lead a team over one side project of mine ( ´ ▿ ` ) So we'll most likely stick to classic pages.

But the same goes for collabs, community events, side stories, asks, edits, dubs, testing other platforms, regular animatics. Love all of that. Really. But I never have the time to because, man, I'd love to actually finish TMS someday ahah. It all comes back to the age-old problem of “lots of ideas, little time”, and it's so frustrating but, it's a choice I have to stick to, so bear with me as I vent my frustration. Just for tonight (´ ∀ `, *)

So, yes. Act 2. Next year? Probably? It's a long interlude, so you'll get smth in the meantime, but it's likely to decide the future of TMS and whether Act 2 sees the light of day as I imagine it or if...well, something else replaces it.

I don't know how other comic artists experience it, but for me it's a very isolated work, and as much as I love working alone, I enjoy the interaction with readers most of all.

-Realistically, he’s a very bipolar guy, like it’d take a while for him to finally warm up to you since he idolizes and worships Mikey. But you’d definitely be his favorite the more he hangs out with you.

- He is very protective of you. Anyone who crossed you, consider them dead. He will make sure of that.

- He always puts a facade that he doesn’t care about you, but little by little that mask breaks. He would not verbally show his liking towards you but his facial features very much tells you how he feels about you.

-he worships the ground you step on. As he thinks Mikey is a king. You’re his queen and he’s willing to do whatever it takes to satisfy you.

- If he sees you talking to a man that’s not bonten executives, he immediately stands next to you and removes you from the conversation, saying a lie like “we have something to do”

-when you’d ask him why he did that he just leave you with, “you’re not allowed” with no reasoning at all.

It was quite the shocker when the people around him found out that he had an older sister. It was funny how you first met your brother's friends.

Not even a week into a High school and Sakura texts you to come to the restaurant called PHOTHOS down at the Main Street. Generally speaking, you've grown accustomed to the different types of behaviours Sakura gives out and so when you read one of his rare texts to meet him outside at night on the first day of school, you're scared shitless.

You jump out of bed and rush to the designated place and swung the door open in heavy breaths, afraid he was beaten up and rushed to the nearest shelter. You zoomed down the street like a complete maniac until you came face to face with the lightly dimmed restaurant before swinging the door open.

There, you saw your younger brother sitting with a group full of people?!

You hadn't realized how crazy you might have looked, too in shock at the scene of Sakura staring back at you with wide eyes. He wasn't expecting you to come here so quick.

Shortly after, the others began to murmur about who you were and asked Sakura since they caught on the fact that you were staring at him alone. The moment he said it, they all went berserk.

"She's my older sister. I told her to come!"

Even the brown-haired worker shouted. Much to your dismay, the sight of three other first years were around him, but something that stuck to your eye was the table right beside theirs, was a pair of two older guys wearing the same uniform as them. Eventually, Sakura reeled you into the place and made you sit in front of him and right in front of you to your left sat an odd looking boy with grey hair? At first you thought it was fake and he maybe dyed it, but looking up close, it was indeed his actual hair.

Your younger brother ended up admitting he called you to come here because he knew he was going to come home late and didn't want you to eat dinner alone.

Afterwards, you briefly chatted with his friends for the first time but at the end of the night when all of you exited out the restaurant, the grey-haired man known as Umemiya called you over. You learned he was the president at his school that was also in charge of looking after the town. Doing so, he asked for your number purely because he wanted to call you if Sakura would end up getting injured at anytime (they explained Sakura was now involved with a fight with Shishitoren tomorrow. You weren't happy with him).

It's weird though, even after the fight, Umemiya continued to chat to you over the phone—it was a bit unusual for the man. Sugishita was the first one to notice with the way he kept getting up from the garden to check his phone every 10-15 minutes. The boy questioned what was happening but never had the balls to ask him.

You didn't mind speaking to him for the first few times, you weren't attending the same school as Sakura and it was nice hearing how your younger brother was doing at school since he refused to tell you (he was too embarrassed at how nice everyone was treating him). Eventually, your conversations end up leading to speaking about yourselves and learning each other's interests. He didn't expect to speak to anyone at all like this, it's even come to a point whenever he sees Sakura, he asks how you're doing.

The boy didn't think much of it since he wasn't aware you were speaking to his representative for his school until one day Umemiya calls you for the first time and asks where Sakura is.

He was sick that day, and so you had to take care of him in the morning. You were a bit hard on him needless to say, but after cooking him up a quick warm dish, giving him medicine, hot towels, and alone time, you now found yourself stuck on what to do. You couldn't get close to him otherwise you would get sick, you told the grey-haired man to which he replied with.

"Do you want to come to the school to help me garden?"

"Really?"

He had told you about his garden through phone and seeing that you didn't have anything to do, you accepted his offer. The two of you were a bit awkward—he's not going to lie. But soon enough, the both of you warmed up together.

That was when Sugishita understood why he had been checking his phone so often during those days.

Afterwards, that was when he started to grow closer to you.

The two of you grew very close in a matter of days, chatting every single day in the morning and before bed. He doesn't find it odd to text and become friendly with the opposite sex. He's had many countless friends that were girls and was known to be a charming man that anybody liked. But still, with that many people on his roster it's hard to keep up with every single one of them. So why now was he keeping such a close eye on you?

The first thing he noticed was he would slightly feel annoyed whenever you replied a little too late. He would never show that he's mad at you for that due to how well he covers it. In the following weeks he finally his the courage to ask if he can pick you up from school and bring you to help tend his garden. The first time you gardened with him, you had a lot of fun and took pictures to send it to Sakura who was back home (he yelled on text saying— 'ARE YOU AT MY SCHOOL ?!') and so you agreed to help him after school.

It all seemed normal to him, texting and calling you every single day, picking you up, running quick errands with you, and holding your stuff. It's hard to process those feelings he gets around you and shakes it off by saying that he just likes you a lot because you're a good person. Yeah—that's the best explanation.

However, whenever you reply late, take a little longer than usual when he picks you up because a boy was talking to you after class about your group project. He senses a faint taste of bitter on his tongue and almost replies in a passive aggressive manner to those types of things.

"I've been waiting out here for a little longer than usual [Name], what were you doing?"

But soon enough when he hangs out with his best friend Hiragi on a Friday afternoon, due to the fact you were busy that day, the spiky-headed boy brings you up in his conversation at the fast food restaurant the sat in eating their burgers.

"Y'know you really seem to like her Ume."

"I just think she's nice is all." He replied back, in a split second Hiragi caught on the way his voice faltered for a second.

You realized this when you and Sebastian had gone behind his back with dark magic, even when you decided to take him flying on your first date instead of the calm night in Hogsmeade he had suggested. It’s nit that he didn’t like the date -any time with you was enough for him- but despite the fact you flew like a hawk, he was never to fond to flying. He had grumbled and growled, and even groaned a few times while you glided through the air, quickly making you realize that upsetting your adorable blonde boyfriend would always be an obvious emotion. Sebastian had noticed this especially today, considering every time Professor Sharpe started a sentence, Ominis groaned as let his head fall to the table. Sebastian has grown accustomed to letting his hand rest on the table, so ominis’ head would bump against the hardwood.

“Yo, mate, stop grumbling to yourself, you're gonna draw attention to me cheating.” Sebastian whispered, making Ominis perk up slightly, completely forgetting he was supposed to be taking an exam.

“Alright, do it quietly.” Professor Sharpe said, returning to the texts that he was grading. Ominis nudged Sebastian, trying to stop him from cheating off his paper, being extra angry with him at the moment. It was Sebastian’s fault, he was just already on edge.

“You’re such a prick.” Ominis hissed, making Sebastian gasp with fake hurt.

“I’m not a prick, I’m smart. And that hurts Ominis.”

“What is up yours today?” Sebastian asked, nudging ominis as the blonde rolled his eyes again. “Y/n didn’t let you hit last night?”

“They can actually. No matter what I do I know I’m going to need to bring her. I just, I don’t want to scare her off. My parents are very intense. If they find out she isn’t pure blood they’ll go berserk. No matter what, I don’t see this ending well.”

“Well, it’s not a big deal Ominis, I mean you’ll make it work.” Sebastian said, referring to the smart nature of ominis’ decisions, a nature that Sebastian lacks himself.

“Not a big deal? The second they find out she isn’t of pure blood status I can kiss my love goodbye!” He shook his head, getting angry with Sebastian as he thought of never seeing you again. “They’ll attack her, banish her even. I wouldn’t be surprised if they..if they even..”

“You can’t think like that Ominis.” Sebastian interrupted, knowing where the conversation was going and shaking his head to dismiss it. “I know they’ve hurt you, but I don’t think they would do that to y/n.”

“Are you sure? Sebastian is just a flu flame away. You can always hide at his house, I can tell my parents we broke up.” Ominis asked, the two of you walking hand in hand to his front porch.

“Darling, take a deep breath. It’s alright. I’ll be right here by your side.” You explained, squeezing his hand to reassure him.

“I can only protect you from so much…”

“All I need from you is to hold my hand.”

“Squeeze it when you need me.”

“I will.” You said, ominis knocking on the door with a nervous sigh as his brow began to sweat.

“Son, welcome back. It’s been a while.” Mr Gaunt greeted. Not a smile or look of kindness in his face. He looked evil, angry, empty, and terrifying all at the same time.

“It has. This is y/n l/n, my girlfriend.” He introduced you, smiling at his dad. You could tell ominis had set up a facade in front of his dad. He was different.

“Good to meet you dear.” Mrs Gaunt smiled as she greeted you. She seemed kinder than Ominis’ father, but not by much. Just enough to greet you at the door.

“L/n, I haven’t heard of that. Is your family pure?” Ominis’ father asked, making him sigh.

“Pardon?” You asked, surprised by the question.

“Not now father. We’ve hardly even gotten in the door.” Ominis said, a nervous laugh leaving his lips as he walked in.

“I’m just concerned for your future son. You know how we feel about mudbloods.”

Mudbloods, a term he just threw out in the air as if it didn’t hurt your soul to hear.

“Cassius.” Mrs.Gaunt, whose name you’d learn is Astoria said, warning her husband as she smiled at you both. “Come on in you guys.”

“Thank you. You have a lovely home Mr and Mrs Gaunt.” You complimented, feeling a light squeeze from ominis and sending him a smile.

“It’s historic. The house of Gaunt, maybe the most honored manor in all of England.”

“I bet.”

“I’m sorry.” He whispered, making you smile.

“It’s alright. Deep breaths.” You whispered back.

“Why don’t we get to dinner then?” Astoria offered, making you and ominis nod.

“That sounds wonderful.”

You had all gathered at the dinner table, the longest dinner table you’d seen in your life. Of course Cassius sat at the head, you and ominis together beside him, and his mother across from you. You felt out of place, a different contrast from your cozy small round table.

“So son, no quidditch this year?”

“Unfortunately not father, you know I like to focus on grades.”

“Yes, of course. Unlike that halfblood friend of yours.”

Sebastian. You felt your blood boil at his fathers comment.

“Father, please. Don’t speak of Sebastian that way.” Ominis pleaded, making his father scoff.

“Sorry son, I just don’t understand why those lower than us don’t decide to prove themselves. Working in class is the least those sallow’s Can do to prove themselves.”

“Sebastian is actually a very talented duelist.” You say, earning looks from everyone at the table, all a different kind of look as you glanced around at each person.

“Is he now?” Cassius asked, causing you to freeze.

“Father..”

“No, I’m intrigued. Do you think that knowing a few spells is gonna protect your status in this world?” 

You pressed your lips together, taking a sip of water to wash down your food before looking over at Cassius.

“With all due respect sir, status is only as far as how pure of blood you are.” His face grew angry. “I may be born from muggles, but that doesn’t mean I can’t just as easily beat you in a duel.” 

“You think you could beat me in a duel? You, a mudblood?” 

You let the name slip off his tongue and onto the floor, not reacting to try and keep things civil as you nodded.

“I do.”

“Unbelievable. An insolent child. A mudblood nonetheless. What do you know of magic? That a hippogroff can fly and levioso can make a feather float? You are ignorant, and worthless in the eyes of the world, you should be wise how you speak to those allowing you to live off our land.” 

“You use these hurtful words and dark curses to mask your own insecurities. Just because you were born from ancestors of a Hogwarts founder, and married your cousin, doesn’t make you any better than me. I work just as hard, if not harder because the world likes to knock me down for being simplistic and outcasted. I respect you sir, you’re the father of the boy I love, but I will not change myself to make you happy. You can turn me inside out and find that my blood comes from humans, but we both bleed red.”

Ominis could help but gawk at you. The things you said, the way you said them, his heart melted in his chest. He was sure he never loved you as much as he did in that moment.

“You dare speak to me like that in my own home? If you claim to love my son, you’d respect his patriarch.” His father seethed, practically steaming at the ears.

“This doesn’t seem much like a home. It’s a house, a decoration for you to strut your power for all the world to see. Ominis has never felt home here, and you haven’t worked to make it that for him. I need not show you respect in a place of torture and dark magic.” You tested, stepping up to ominis’ father as he stood up.

“What do you know of dark magic?” He hissed, causing you to narrow your eyes at him.

“I know enough.”

The room went quiet for a few seconds before Cassius spoke.

“Your words make me think you need learn more.”

“Enough! Come on y/n, we’re leaving.” Ominis said, grabbing your hand, afraid of what more might happen.

“How dare you show disrespect to your own father, for what? A mudblood!?”

Ominis didn’t listen, instead he walked out with you in his hand.

“Someone needs to teach you a lesson of how this world works. Being a mudblood doesn’t make you worthy, it makes you a freak of nature!” Cassius shouted, following ominis out the door, when finally, ominis heard enough.

“Keep your mouth shut of people you know nothing about! She may be born from muggles, but y/n and her family will always be better than you!” 

As you both started to aparate to Sebastian’s home, Cassius shouted a curse in your direction. You jumped in the way before it could hit him. You both separated in time, but the curse still hit you.

“Ominis? You’re here early.” 

“Sebastian, please! She needs help!” Ominis shouted, watching you writhe in his arms in pain.

“What’s wrong? What happened?” Sebastian asked nervously, coming to see you struggle.

“My father, he..”

But he didn’t need to explain. The second Sebastian saw the sparks of red magic leaving her skin, paired with the look of anguish mixed with painful groans that left your lips, he knew. 

You could only see darkness. And pain. And for a few minutes, you swore the world was ending. Until it wasn’t, and your eyes opened, and you saw love.

“Love?” Ominis asked softly, running his hands through your hair comfortingly, his face full of worry.

“Well, that was fun huh?” You teased, making him laugh.

“Why would you do that to me? I lost my mind worrying for you.” 

“Aww, my big teddy bear. You worried for me?” You asked, pouting at him as he smiled, holding your face in his hands.

“I always worry for you. Y/n, I’m so sorry. I can’t believe he said those things about you. This was exactly what I was afraid of.”

“It’s alright.” 

“It’s not. You’re so much more than who your parents are. Merlin, it made me so angry.” Ominis explained, shaking his head angrily.

“I know, I know.” You said, laughing in response.

“Why are you laughing? Only you could get hit with crucio and start laughing.”

“Because you’re adorable. Protecting me from your family, it just makes me love you more.” You explained, kissing his hand that was holding your cheek.

“They are far from my family. This is, this place. You. You’re my home, y/n.” He placed a soft kiss to your lips, pulling away with a soft smile, his cheeks blushed red.

“Good. I hope I can give you the family you deserve.”

“More than that.”

“Bud, you know you’re always welcome here. Both of you.” Sebastian explained, smiling at you both before scoffing. “And besides, Solomon is about ready to build you both a room here anyway.”

They all laughed, smiling at Sebastian.

“Thank you Sebastian.”

“Of course mate. I couldn’t imagine you anywhere else.”

“Me neither. Right here, home.” Ominis said, kissing you once more before you all went inside, celebrating the holiday with your true family.

These Itoshi brothers are going to be my end one day.

Every time I'm like, "Yay, I made a sensible theory. I'll stick to it now," these two always whack me out of nowhere. It's like they love to go, "🗣️📢 HELL NAH❗HE-HE-HELL NAH❗"

Anyway, so I was re-reading Rin's part in the LN, and I realised something:

So, after Sae left for Spain, there was a visible decline in the performance of both Rin and their Soccer Youth Club. Rin says it's because he could see the goal path and stuffs, BUT his teammates couldn't and the only person who could match his vision was, of course, Sae.

That's why Rin had to change his playstyle to match that of the Team's. He began passing instead of waiting for a pass and all. Things starts to get better, and the whole team starts to get their glory days back.

There was a line in the LN which goes something like, "The teammates thought they were playing good, but they were actually just playing in strings of Rin's. Rin was controlling everything."

He then goes, "This is tough and Nii-chan was doing this all along? Nii-chan was holding back. That's why he chose to go to Spain, so he can play the way he wants."

See.

THIS

is exactly where my brain started to churn.

So, Sae was in that soccer club since way long, and he was legit considered as the pillar of it or something. However, all these years, he was, in fact, holding back himself and when he got to go to Spain, he thought like, "Yes! Finally! I can show the world what I got," but sadly, he found out he just wasn't it.

Maybe it could be because he played UNLIKE his real self for so long that he forgot himself.

OR

He just wasn't that good as he thought he was. He found out that he was the Frog in the well.

HOWEVER.

He still had Rin back home, and he trusted him because he knew about his younger brother's true potential or impulses.

So time passed and the day of the U-15 Championship Finals came.

Reminder: Sae was scouted by Real Madrid/Re Al when he won in the U-15 Championship alongside Rin. That's why it was really important for Rin to win that Final match too.

What I said above was a fact Sae, probably, knew too. That's why he came a whole day AHEAD of his schedule to watch the younger Itoshi play with his own eyes (Rin had pointed out that Sae was supposed to come a day after).

But, surprisingly, what Sae saw was what he feared— he saw Rin play the way he himself used to. He was probably like, "I sacrificed everything for you and you became exactly what I sacrificed myself for you to NOT be."

Reminder: Rin gets into his real flow state/becomes berserk during the LAST three minutes of the whole game.

Which gives us two possibilities:

Firstly, Sae just gets up and leave without seeing Rin's berserk mode. After which he comes back to confront him once the match is over.

Secondly, Sae stayed the whole match and saw Rin's berserk mode and was somewhat relieved to know that the younger Itoshi hadn't completely lost his true self. After which the confrontation proceeds.

I don't want to say much about their reunion in this post, but I do want to add another perspective to why Sae challenged Rin for a 1V1:

Sae, probably, had thought that, "I couldn't beat the world and if you can't even beat me, then you are nothing in this world."

That's it, I guess.

To make him a little more unhinged and sadistic here, imagine a sadistic yan Valentino who will literally bully you to fucking tears and hurt your feelings on purpose because it 'proves you care about him'.

You and him have an actually sweet mutually respectful moment and he says something specific to you... calls you a new nickname or gives you a really specific compliment, and, it also just really makes you all warm and fuzzy. Or there's a specific way he likes to hold you or nonsexually touch you.

Then you "cross him", you two are arguing, there's several days of you basically all but completely ignoring him, and Val's suddenly making sure to deliberately do that same action or pet name or phrase to someone else RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOU and I'm talking you're like, IMMEDIATELY SNAPPING YOUR HEAD IN HIS DIRECTION, and he's already fucking looking at you with this shit eating grin to look at your offended, upset expression

Like sorry can you even fucking imagine he tells you something that makes you feel really special in private and he KNOWS THAT and he compliments someone else the exact same way and you're looking at him literally IN TEARS and he's ENJOYING THAT HE'S MAKING YOU CRY

Just.... setting the scene.... you and him have been drinking, smoking, doing your drugs of choice, whatever, and... it's late at night... you guys are completely alone... and you're just... talking. Talking about your lives, about being in Hell, about experiences you've had, and then Valentino just kinda pokes your arm all coyly smirking/flirting like "It's weird but I feel like I can talk to you like we've known each other forever, like i actually care what you have to say and shit"

And then later on he gets pissed off at you (and it's something stupid like he gets jealous of you talking/bonding with another person) and he says that to some bitch that he like BARELY KNOWS, I would be GASPING CRYING WANTING TO THROW THINGS AT HIM like he could have you sitting there borderline suicidal and he's GRINING WITH GLEE, internally cheering "awwww they DO care about me 🥰 they care what i think about them and they're upset cause they think i dont like them 🥰" like some genuinely evil shit

Like lmao I've talked about "what if Reader became the fourth Vee" but I haven't mentioned "what if when Vox goes to calm down Valentino he also has to go to YOUR tower and comfort YOU because the reason you're both upset is YOU WERE ARGUING" (and maybe Vox takes your side more often because, you're his baby duh and you're newer and you probably have a better head on your shoulders than Val)

Like just the mental image of Vox having this dichotomy of, dealing with Valentino having his drunken rages where he wants to resort straight to violence, he's screaming, throwing things, and then Vox goes to YOUR section of the place and you're opposite end of the spectrum, crying, I mean ALSO angry as fuck but in a "Val makes me feel worthless I hate him I hate everyone" kind of way. Vox finds Valentino drinking and wanting to hurt other people and lashing out at his employees and breaking shit, and then he finds you like facedown on a couch in a cloud of smoke and booze, crying about what a pathetic worm you are, why do they even keep you here, you don't belong here, Vox probably hates you too- WHICH HE IMMEDIATELY CORRECTS YOU ON BTW

Vox is out here having to baby and infantilize and SCOLD Valentino to talk him down to a normal level and then to you he's like GENUINELY like "nooooo oh my gosh are you kidding, dont say THAT, you're so cool though 🥺 Val said WHAT, noooOoooo, that's fucked up, I'm sorry, I'll talk to him. You wanna eat cereal and watch anime? I developed a new gacha game for you to play, you wanna play while i watch?" like forreal the favorite is so obvious fkcnckcnfb which is also why it hurts extra hard when VOX loses his cool with YOU because who are you gonna run to, Val or Velvette? Whatever else I may say about the writing of Fallout 3, Oasis is excellent on every level. Genuinely totally siloed from the main quest and the rest of the game world's communities, isolated from any area of the game world that you'd be likely to pass through on your way to another quest objective (maybe Fort Constantine, but you'd still have to detour pretty heavily.) Despite that, allusions to the place are seeded throughout the game- Three Dog talking about it on the radio as an urban legend, a single insane wastelander ranting about it before dropping dead in front of you. One of your rewards for completing the Arefu quest is that you'll have a cluster of locations in Arefu's general area marked on your map if you hadn't found them already; one of those locations contains an exiled, berserk Treeminder with coordinates to Oasis on his person, albeit without any explanation of what Oasis actually is. Actually finding the place is a very self-directed activity even if they hand you everything you'd need to get there. I feel as though there's a level of restraint on display from Bethesda here that you wouldn't get for settlement with a named quest these days- an asset as visually unique as Harold would absolutely end up with top billing in the main quest, you wouldn't be allowed to miss him. And anyway, once you get there, I dunno, there are interesting parallels. Inasmuch as Fallout 3 has any kind of actual deliberate theme, I'd argue that the theme is that you can't run from your problems, and you can't stick your head in the sand. A lot of the settlements you visit over the course of the game have the vibe of a whole bunch of people who are just sort of holed up and waiting to die, even the outwardly successful ones like Megaton and RIvet City. The entire main plot is triggered by James deciding to try and do something about the state of the world instead of just waiting to die of inbreeding along with everyone else under the Overseer's thumb. Everywhere you visit is experiencing some kind of watershed moment- something's gotta give. And then you get to this place that's outwardly a pretty sweet setup, but only because they're obscure- and that's not sustainable. You found this place, other people are going to, the only actual choice on the table is on what terms they're going to come into contact with the outside world and on what timetable. The possibility of reforestation is complementary to Project Purity; they make a big point of the fact that Harold can't do jack about the irradiated water even if the restoration of greenery would still be a major net positive. And it's not hard to draw a connection between the ending where you convince Harold to keep living because the Treeminders are dependent on him, and the whole "abandonment issues" beat that the Lone Wanderer is given room to have with their own father- you don't get to duck out on the world that easy, James Number 2. Lots of interesting little parallels swirling around in there, if you're an overly charitable apophenic such as myself

I am once again thinking about Hoarah Loux, the only man Marika ever trusted and the only man she ever loved. It’s such an insane thing to think about the fact that the second last boss of Elden Ring is Some Guy. He is literally just A Human Man. Marika looks at this fucking raving barbarian man and decides to My Fair Lady him into a Lord like the deranged woman she is by assigning him a babysitter to perpetually gnaw on his neck whenever he’s in public. As insane as all that sounds, let’s break down that imagery a little because it’s actually really good! His babysitter is the king of beasts, a lion named Serosh, who digs his claws and his fangs into Hoarah Loux’s body to keep him suppressed and restrained enough in temperament to now be fit to be named Godfrey, The First Elden Lord of Queen Marika.

Serosh is frankly quite mysterious as far as what he actually is goes but as far as story themes go, he’s a really interesting symbol of lordship. The lion basically IS Godfrey’s crown, it’s what makes him Godfrey. The symbolism is essentially stating in a very overt way that this man is more savage than all the beasts of the world. In Elden Ring, beasts with five fingers indicate an enlightened or elevated intelligence, blessed by the greater will. It’s fascinating how it’s basically stating that Serosh is more intelligent, refined and noble than Hoarah Loux, that this man is more wild and savage than the greatest of all the beasts in the world. That only a beast king could teach this man to be a Lord. Godfrey can rip him apart anytime but he doesn’t. It takes more than strength of body to wear a crown and he knows it. He needs Serosh to honour and do right by Marika. He is showing his opponents a courtesy, as he puts it. Morgott takes after his example and so too is Radahn inspired by him. It’s really wonderful imagery.

There’s more to the symbolism. My knowledge of alchemy is, I completely admit, too surface level to elegantly speak at length but I’ve done some light reading online to back up my confidence in what I’m saying. We know Miyazaki loves dark edgy anime like Berserk and I posit that he also gained inspiration from the anime/manga Hellsing, in which the main character recites the line “I am the bird of Hermes, eating my own wings to make me tame.” This line comes from the Ripley Scroll and is theorized to have many meanings but popularly is presumed to mean giving up higher philosophy and knowledge to live normally on the earth as a human. Miyazaki uses lots of alchemical symbolism in his works, Elden Ring especially (go watch Quelaag’s videos!) so I could be totally full of shit about hellsing but I’m completely confident that Godfrey is meant to be an inversion (like literally everything else about his character) of what the Bird of Hermes represents. Godhood is a prison, a shackling. The entire plot is Marika (and Ranni tbh) trying to escape that imprisonment. Godfrey loves Marika enough to chain himself down, to eat his own wings, to pull out his own teeth and claws for her to make himself tame and ascend to lordship.

What’s especially fascinating about him is that he carries Serosh out into the badlands with him, as the opening cutscene shows. Cut dialogue indicates he already knew the Elden Ring would shatter and the tarnished would be beckoned to return. That Marika told him her plan in full before she took from him and his warriors the grace of gold and sent them away. A line from him saying to trust in gold, always, that it will guide our fates to our true destiny has wonderful implications I would certainly love to expand on in another post maybe. Hoarah Loux was just a human man and Marika trusted him enough to tell him everything. Trusted him with her gambit to escape the shackles of godhood. This is the fascinating part about taking Serosh with him. Keeping himself disciplined enough to remain a Lord when he returns. To hold back his aching heart just enough that he could follow through on this dark plan and allow his wife to protect him from the machinations of the greater will by sending him away. Also note that in that opening cutscene, he’s being crucified, with a lion about his shoulders and spear buried in his abdomen. They could not be milking the Jesus imagery harder if they tried. The Bird of Hermes is also thought to represent Christ, more points for that symbolism.

I love Godfrey so much as a character. He loved his sons and he loved his wife. The tenderness that he holds Morgott with is enough to make me cry. How he wished he could’ve seen him sooner, I’m all too sure. He’s the only other character we see guided by grace in the entire game. Marika guides you and her beloved husband, that’s it, that’s how much she trusts him. When he rips Serosh from his shoulders, you understand how Marika felt such faith in him. In Elden Ring, it is through battle that you face the true self of an opponent. Godfrey reveals to you Hoarah Loux, Warrior Chieftain of the Badlands. It is a test. Are you worthy to free her? Can you do what I could not? I have shown you courtesy enough as a Lord. You served me well, Serosh. I relieve you of your burden and feel only gratitude for your service. Now begins the test. Are you, tarnished, stronger than the only man who was strong enough to bear the burden of Lordship? Are you stronger than the only man that Queen Marika ever trusted? Are you stronger than the only man she ever loved?

Fate/extra is i think the first time a developer could openly say "oh, it was bad. god help me it was SO BAD" without getting shut down by anyone above them. like. as someone who's never played it that is mindboggling. usually you gotta side step it with "oh it was a bit outdated" or "well it had some interesting ideas that didn't pan out" but no just straight up "dude the game was horseshit we had to burn it all down and start from nothing". Refreshing, to be honest.

It really was that bad.

The thing about Fate/Extra's combat was like, it had a rock-papers-scissors system (Guard-Break-Attack) where you had to input in the correct sequence (because a single turn is multiple moves) to totally counter your opponent or else you take damage.

However, you didn't actually know enemy patterns, these were all marked as ? until you beat an enemy enough times, so until then you are playing a guessing game with your lifebar and physically writing down the different attack strings per enemy until the game let you reveal all the ? with enough fights.

Now, when it comes to Servant battles, no matter how much info you gather on the enemy servant's identity beforehand, some of their attacks will still be labeled as ?, meaning guessing is unavoidable.

This becomes a big problem when you fight Berserker. On Rin route, it's going to be Lu Bu, who has an obscenely high STR stat and whose regular attacks can devastate you. On the Rani route, it's Arcueid, and her STR stat is ranked EX.

If you're playing as Caster where all her stats start from almost nothing and naturally has very little DEF, you're at risk of getting oneshot. Caster's sole method of countering this was using up her mana to throw skills instead, which superseded regular attacks in priority. Out of mana? Youre screwed.

At any point, through sheer guesswork, your fight as Caster could just be over from failing a guess with 1/3 chance of getting it right, and she started with the lowest stats in the game so even the basic beginner enemies would completely destroy her simple because they would initially have 6 moves marked ? and you couldn't possibly get all of them right.

It's the kind of system that makes you wonder if the devs had time to actually playtest all their characters, because "Unplayable" was not an exaggeration.

It's also why before this new trailer, all of our info about Fate/Extra Record from 2022 came from the combat designer updating his Twitter at 2 in the morning saying he's still in the office playtesting all 3 characters to specifically make sure they were fun. They HAD to be sure this time!
