👫 for kuro & io
Tumblr media
so we've already established that io and kuro are... a bit of a slow burn. but in a kind of weird and funny way. they have plenty of time. i seriously love the idea of them not really being aware they're an item until it's very very clear to everyone else. and even then they slowly move into it. and it's less of an oh!!! moment, and more an alright it's official- as if there hasn't been a huge change. by the time they've accepting it for what it is, kuro's got clothes there, a few dishes, and food. like he's half moved in by the time they're calling it a legitimate relationship.
kuro is the promise of a meal whenever io wants. and though they do begin with places that are very easy to hide-- he does eventually trust io enough to allow her to bite along his neck too. it definitely helps he already covers the majority of it up with a silk choker. but the scar there is a bit of a sore topic. one that io never brings up and kuro is very happy not to talk about.
now hear me out. kuro would happily, eagerly even, introduce io to his cats. they're not really his, but to her it's obvious he cares a great deal about the strays that live nearby. and it would be sooooo cute if he moved in with her, and was able to bring mimi along with. she's an old cat but astonishingly well behaved, and tends to just sleep all day.
the size difference between them is QUITE substantial. and they both know it- even if io can shapeshift and change how she looks. he is perfectly fine reaching things for her she can't normally, or providing other tall person sort of help. // much later into their relationship, kuro does tease her wordlessly about it- by not leaning over for things, or questioning if she's sure she does or doesn't need help with something. but it's all in good fun, even if he gets shit for it sometimes.
( bonus ) bringing this back too-- but blood for a good sleep? worth it. and if io ends up using him as a pillow while he naps? what of it? he's warm and comfortable. and sometimes, kuro might wake up with io sitting on him and just,,, let himself drift back in and out until he's ready to get up again.

haikyuu boys and your moments with them
note: female reader insert
warnings: tooth rooting fluff, slightly nsfw, mentions of alcohol, some grammar issues because I didn’t proofread this, sorry 😔
starring: bokuto, semi, matsukawa, tsukishima, sakusa, kageyama and goshiki
thank you for 1,7k!!!
bokuto kotaro: unplanned dates + things he do for you
Tumblr media
“hey hey hey babe”
“why?”
“let’s go on a date, i miss u”
The little moments with bokuto is something that you will never forget. Those unplanned dates with just him in his sweats and unruly hair. Those date with him at the park with just him lying on your lap, admiring your face with a cheeky smile painting his lips. Or the way his hands playfully trace small circles on your lap playfully.
Those moments with him that’ll make you neglect your schoolworks in an instant because he pulled out a shenanigan on you (with the help of akaashi, so it’ll look convincing that bokuto is really in pain, but surprise bitch, it’s a prank) but truth is he just want to see your face because volleyball has consumed his time. And you’ll just smack him off for scaring you but he’d just kiss you in return. Kisses that are too strong with passion and desire. He gives more to the point you would be drowning with his passionate spirit.
You love it when he does this small thing where he tugs your stray away hair behind your ear. You always ask him why, but instead of answering your inquiry, he’ll just pull out a bouquet of handpicked flowers from the park and will hand to you.
“You ask why? Is it wrong to admire how absolutely stunning you are?”
sjDJHDBJSB DEAD
semi eita: when he invited you to a nearby gig
Tumblr media
beautiful boy invited you and you thought you were just dreaming so he flicked you on your forehead 🥰💀
One thing that you should be taking with you especially when you’re going for a gig is a fucking jacket. Regardless of the event being indoors or outdoors, a fucking jacket is a must.
But you might be someone who lives under the rocks and decided to wear a full glam without taking a jacket to warm you off.
Yet, the night is already starting. Night sky is deep with velvety clouds and twinkling stars. Going back would be such a pain and Semi might be annoyed if you’d pull out a grand entrance because you’re so late. Heaving a sigh, you pulled over the venue where the gig is at. You saw him at the entrance with his signature grey hair styled perfectly and his hands stuffed into his jeans.
He gave you a quick look. “Hey.”
You let out a breath, “hey.”
You noticed that there were no people. No noise. Hell, there weren’t a gig to start with. “Semi?”
“I know. But this is the only thing i could pull of just so i could ask you on a date.”
sakusa kiyoomi: when you know you both share mutual feelings but there is something holding both of you back
Tumblr media
you and sakusa both know you share some deep seated feeling towards each other yet neither both of you decided to talk about it.
you fell hard for him even more when you were dead shit drunk (yet, you are still aware of everything around you, however you have the guts to act carelessly even around sakusa) and you decided to tease him by sitting on his lap, when you barged into his dorm room after going hom from a sorrority party.
It really took him by surprise at how vulgar you are with your words. How straightforward you were around him. When in reality when you’re sober, you’d never dare to talk to him, let alone straddling on his lap. Or the way you look at him slowly beneath your lashes. No matter how hard sakusa tries to shut his thoughts, but he wishes to see more of this side of you.
He could smell the reek of alcohol on your breath yet he made no complains whatsoever because it’s you. It’s fucking you. And, he’ll never throw a fit even if it disturbs his personal confort zone, because it’s you that we are talking about here. And, you are in a state of vulnerability because of alcohol, now isn’t a time for him to be a brat about hygiene or whatever.
You whispered, “why are you such a stone, sakusa?”
He didn’t quite understand what you meant by that, but he chose to shut up and stare at your deep, tired eyes. Those eyes that captivated him. Those eyes of yours that he wishes to stare more at.
“I like you so much,” you slurred. “You and your bitchiness about people around you. Y-you..” you paused, shifting yourself comfortably on his lap while you gripped on his shoulders.
Sakusa could hear his own frantic heartbeat. Did you really mean it? But he knows, every shit that a drunk says, is nothing but the truth.
“I l-like you l, ya know that?” You grinned and tumbled but sakusa was fast enough to hold you on you waist. He burried his face onto the crook of you neck and whispered but loud enough for you to hear, “i like you too, but you’re disgusting right now.”
The next day was a beautiful disaster. With him and you in bed.
tsukishima kei: a study date with him at the library
Tumblr media
having kei as your tutor could be really cold but what choice do you have?
Kei isn’t the type to sugarcoat things just because he wanted to be the type to give sympathy. But no. He will lash out if your essay is shit and he’ll even rub it onto your face that your choice of words aren’t passing his high standards. Not even a bit. That is how Kei is.
Yet, he knows when to stop with his venomous words. Especially when he knows you were having a bad day and so he decided to act more docile so he wouldn’t hurt more of your feelings.
Study dates with him isn’t too romantic because he prioritizes both of your academic success. But there will be time where he will let you snuggle close to him when the library’s air condition is making you cold. Or when he lets you doodle little dinosaurs on his forearms while he watches you under his stern, golden eyes.
“Why do you keep on playing with my hair? You should be studying your biology, dumbo.” He isn’t annoyed. In fact, he doesn’t want you to stop, he’s just too tsundere to admit.
But you know it well that he loves it so you play with his locks even more while leaning over to place a chaste peck on his cheeks.
Kei flipped his book and whispered. “Why do I love a fucking goner?”
kenma kozume: when he immediately hugged you after his stream
Tumblr media
Kenma isn’t the type to be suave with words. But he expresses his affection through action because according to kuroo, that is much more cool.
He just finished a stream and gave away his honest review on how this palace dungeon game is. But is didn’t fazed him at all. In fact, he didn’t liked the graphics at all. A solid five for gamer!kenma
What made him scared is that it is already eleven in the evening yet you were nowhere to be found.
But his anxiousness subsided when he heard the familiar clanking of the front bell. And there you stood at the door, looking gloomy and kenma made sure to act up immediately.
It took you by surprise when he stood up from his seat and immediately wrapped you around his body. The familiar whiff of his cologne mixed with his warmth. This is more than you asked for.
kuroo tetsurou: when he makes fun of you because he likes you so much
Tumblr media
King of provocation and chemistry nerd kuroo always love to mess up with you. And you can’t find a way to get to him back or?
“You know what?” Kuroo began.
You raised a brow, “what?”
“You’re small.”
“You’re just tall, Kuroo. Now,” you raised a pencil towards his direction, “leave me alone.”
Kuroo clicked his tongue. Now is the time for him to continue on further to pester you. He isn’t being a jerk though, but he just finds it cute especially when you get agitated with just him and his presence. The way your fist curling and he can’t help but to admire your annoyed face. You’re so damn cute but you just don’t even notice the notable fucking obvious.
Kuroo decided to play with your hair but you had other things in mind. To get back at him just for him to get a taste of his own medicine.
You exerted a lot of effort to pull his collar down just to match you eye level with his. You smiled, “is it just playing with my hair that you could pull off, kuroo?”
You’re donw with him concealing his feeling because he has no guts to come up to you. So you did him a favor. Something that’ll distract him for the rest of his day.
matsukawa issei: 3am dance with him
Tumblr media
You were washing the dishes at night when you felt two strong arms encircling your waist.
“Hey.”
Matsukawa’s arms encircled your waist as you washed the dishes one Thursday night. The way he hummed the familiar tune of ‘close to you’ while swaing both of your bodies gracefully. You missed him, especially his familiar scent that smelled like home.
He shuffled his feet so he could have more grasp on the hem of your shirt. His thumb caressed the soft skin that showed from his hold.
You grabbed the sponge and lathered it with soap as Matsukawa clinged onto you. It was a peaceful night, with him on your side, the splashing of water and the sound of his lips kissing the crook of your neck.
You smiled as his kisses grow more playful. But Matsukawa wanted to see your face and so he twirled you so he could plant a kiss onto your lips.
You grinned. “Well, well, well, fancy seeing you here Mister Matsukawa.”
He gave you a cheeky smile back, “well, well, well, too, it was a pleasure seeing your beautiful face, Mrs. Matsukawa.”
You decided to play along with him as he swayed both of your bodies in a slow dance. “I doubt. You have plenty of companions at work, right?”
“Oh please. Among all that I’ve seen, i will always choose you.”
kageyama tobio: late night dates with him at the downtown convenience store
Tumblr media
He would act like he just wanted milk but truth is, he wanted you more than the milk he’s addicted to.
“You’re such a dumbass, y/n.” Kageyama scolded when you tripped on your feet but good thing he was there to catch you. He resisted the urge to smile as you gave him a cheeky smile and brushed off the incident like it didn’t cut your self esteem. Humiliation? You don’t know her.
You immediately plopped onto the familiar stool of the convinience store after you grabbed ome of your favorite sponge cakes.
“Stop eating the poor cake like there is no tommorow, baka”
You made a face. “Call me a glutton, but these are the best among all sponge cake made.”
Kageyama raised a brow. Confused, he leaned in but you raised the empty container to his face. You suppresed a laugh, “Told you, I’m a glutton.”
He frowned. “I really don’t need to take a bite of that cake just to have a taste.”
“Wha—?”
He kissed you. And you were right. The sponge cakes were tasty.
goshiki tsutomo: walking home with him from the late academy
Tumblr media
Nothing’s more enjoyable than having goshiki’s presence with you after going home from a hellish class from the academy.
“I am the future ace! You heard that, y/n?” Goshiki proudly yelled while both of you were walking home from the supplemental classes. You tried to match his energy. Yet, no matter how hard you try, you were just too drained to yell with him.
Goshiki had managed to read you even when you didn’t said it to his face. No words were needed because he knows you well like you were his very own diary. He pulled you by your cardigan to enclose you in his lean body.
He heard him whisper as he burried his nose on your hair. “You can always rely on me, idiot. If you’re tired, then tell me so i could somehow make you happy.”
Hello!! Sorry if this was tOO LONG I GOT CARRIED AWAY HAHAHAHAHHA but i hope you enjoyed this as much as i enjoyed writing it!! Also, thank you for 1,7K U GUYS ARE THE BEST! Love you all!! 🥺💖💖💖

Hi love, pretty sure you're requests are open (if not just ignore this) n e ways what about Inarizaki with manager who's like intimidating (i've been told i am intimidating lol) and very sarcastic, much Tsukishima Kei vibez cuz that's basically me😃
Just like how would our boys react, very curious and take your time btw don't have to rush it, do it whenever you feel like :D
Oh my gosh Nat, it's literally my honour to write this for you. You can request anything, anytime, and you'll be a top priority (ily<3)
Inarizaki with a tsukkishima-ish manager.
Specially dedicated to @sunasthing <3
Tumblr media
So first of all, if you think that's gonna stop the boys from simping over you, you've got it wrong 😖🖐️
The boys would literally take it as a challenge to get your softer nature out, especially Atsumu.
I GENUINELY think he'd find it really hot whenever you snap back at him, or tell him off. (maybe he's like Nishinoya and Tanaka in that sense 🙄)
Constantly pesters you, and although you don't give him a reply often (because he's annoying as fuck), if you ever acknowledge him slightly, he WILL flirt with you.
Beware tho, even if he comes off as flirty and charismatic, he's literally just a dorky small baby and genuinely wants your attention because he thinks you're the coolest person ever.
And if you're ever nice to him, you can best bet he'll replay that moment in his mind before sleeping EVERY. SINGLE. NIGHT.
Y/n, earlier that day: don't get hurt. I don't want to have to deal with anyone on this team being injured
Atsumu at 3 a.m: s-she cares about me 🥺🥺
I think Osamu would vibe really well with you. He's not annoying, he's really really chill, and he has a pretty sharp tongue himself.
Judges people as an attempt to make you laugh, and he sees it as a personal victory if he can get you to crack a smile or smirk. He just doesn't make a big deal about it, unlike his twin xD
Osamu: y/n look at that guy. he's totally crushing on his brother's best friend, could he not be more obvious about it??
Y/n: *cracks a smirk* yeah, it does seem so.
Osamu, internally: ✨v i c t o r y i s s w e e t✨
He also cooks for you pretty often, and even if you protest against accepting it, you'll usually find a bento hidden in your locker or bag.
He knows you might not accept it straight, so he finds other ways to get it to you. Osamu actually thinks of you as a cooler sister that he says "he'd trade Atsumu for"
In general, the twins are the life of Inarizaki and although they're sometimes annoying, they mean well and it's plain to see that they love you.
Kita loves how smart and analytical you are. I've said this before, I'll say it again— Kita thinks brains are sexy 😤
Especially when you call the team to give your insights about their opponents, or give them ideas on how to improve their play, Kita is literally there like “I'm so glad she's ours”
Because you would be a dangerous asset to other teams, and Kita is the most thankful that you're with them.
He's also a really good leader and although the two of you don't have heart-to-hearts or conversations like the twins, you know he'll ALWAYS be there for you.
Like once, it was raining and practice was cancelled, so you decided to wait in school until the rain subsided (because you didn't want to get wet), and our sweet Kita searched for you in every single classroom until the finally found you and walked you home. That's just the dynamic you had with him
He also often checks up on you, even when it's unrelated to volleyball. Have you done your homework? have you ate breakfast this morning? although you're usually sarcastic with the twins and most of the other members of the team, you can't bring yourself to do so with Kita.
The respect you guys have for each other is unmatched and that's probably why you're such a golden duo in Inarizaki. The leader and the analytical manager.
And now Suna. I think Suna would be the member you have the deepest bond with. you truly allow him to see who you are inside, and he does the same. You guys really just click.
It started with him complaining about Atsumu, and slowly progressed into you letting Suna be the only member to have physical contact with you, but only when the others aren't looking.
Sometimes, if you guys are the only two people in the gym, he'll nap on your lap or lean on your shoulder.
If you didn't already know, like everyone else in Inarizaki, he has a crush on you 😖🖐️ like damn you thought Atsumu had it bad? nah, Suna has it the worst.
He literally asks his little sister to let him practice braiding her hair, just so he'll be perfect when he someday asks to do yours.
But he always chickens out because he's scared you'll say no 😭😭 he's internally very shy, okay? 🥺🥺
He's literally your best friend. You guys have study sessions together, anime nights, literally anything, he's right there with you. The rest of the team are literally not aware of how close the two of you are.
Until one day, Atsumu tries daring you to kiss Suna on the forehead, and instead of flat-out refusing (like you've done before when he's dared you to kiss him, or Akagi) you shrug and gently kiss Suna on the forehead, causing Suna to smile and ruffle your hair.
The rest of the team is just shocked.
Atsumu: what is this FUCKERY?? is y/n literally WILLINGLY touching someone ??¿¿
Y/n and Suna: *smirks*
Atsumu, close to tears: okay
But the rest of the team soon accept you and Suna have a pretty special bond, and that you're genuinely softer when it comes to him.
You don't snap at him much, and as they've noticed, Suna has started being more brave about leaning on your shoulder or sleeping on your lap.
Of course, the rest of the team (with the exception of Kita) is jealous. But hey, they just don't have Suna's charm, okay? xD
You make Suna want to try harder, and he's way more motivated to give it his all in every single game. Mostly because he wants you to be proud of him.
He definitely has a nickname for you, but he will only use it when he's sure you guys are alone. And in return, you call him "Rin" which makes his heart flutter 🥺🥺
KAHDKSS I TOOK SO LONG WITH THE SUNA ONE PLEASE IM TURNING BOTH OF US INTO EVEN BIGGER SUNA SIMPS (as if we weren't already xD)
Now onto Aran !! Aran is a softie who (like Kita) respects you a great deal. He'll fend Atsumu and Osamu off if he senses you aren't having a great day.
He's also pretty good at giving you your space but he checks up on you every once in a while if anyone is bothering you.
Although he's shy about it, Aran actually comes to you when he doesn't understand a homework question. You're super smart and he knows you won't make him feel bad about not knowing.
And it makes you feel happy to know he trusts you, so you help him as best as you can. It's a little secret of yours that the other members don't know about.
It especially lights your day up when he gets a good grade and whispers a silent "thank you" to you in class.
In return, will help you with anything you ask for. No questions asked.
And now, last but not least, sunshine Akagi!! I think he's a total Hinata Shoyo, so he might annoy you a bit at first because of his bright personality.
But deep down inside, you love how easily he gets people to smile and slowly find yourself warming up to him.
And Akagi is really determined to get you to smile (at least once a day) so he cracks the corniest jokes or makes puns.
It has become a thing between the two of you, where Akagi tells you a joke a day, and you rate it out of ten.
Gone are the days when you found him annoying. And now, even if you won't tell him outright— you really do think he's one of the brightest people in your life.
Additional headcanons
CHEERING YOU UP— whenever you feel quieter than usual, or a bit more sarcastic, the boys immediately know something is wrong and rush over to make you feel okay. Literally, it's almost like they've abandoned practice. And eventhough you tell them to get back to it, they refuse to leave until you're feeling better. Suna usually gives you a hug and kisses your forehead, whilst Akagi cracks jokes. Then, (and eventhough you protest) Atsumu lists off all the things you should love about yourself, whilst Osamu buys you ice cream (food is, after all, the best cure for anything). Aran is literally ready to HUNT the person who affected your mood down, and kill them, whilst Kita is literally just holding him back and making sure things don't go overboard. Even if you aren't fully cheered up by then, you'd have laughed a whole lot and know how much they care for you, so honestly... how could you stay sad?
REACTING TO YOU TELLING THEM OFF— Suna is literally just meh about it. He can't take you seriously because he's a dork who thinks he's not included in the list of "idiots" (but no Suna, u mf, you ARE included -_-). Atsumu thinks it's hot 👀 (as I mentioned above), Akagi is genuinely upset/ready to sob and vows to do better. Kita is proud of you for telling them off before he could do it (Kita is not included in the "idiots". How could he? he's PERFECT 🖐️). Osamu and Aran have similar reactions, because they end up apologizing and try to change tactics and do better.
HOW THEY'D ACT WHEN YOU START DATING SUNA— (because this is honestly inevitable, wbk 😭❤️). Atsumu would be jealous. Petty and would call Suna "pretty boy" every chance he gets. Leave him, im sure he'll get over it 🥺🥺 Osamu is pretty jealous too, but he'll never show it and focuses instead on your happiness. Kita approves, and honestly thinks you're a good influence on Suna. Aran is protective of you, and would literally gun Suna down if he ever hurt you (but he won't. Suna loves you, he'd literally jump down a cliff before ever hurting you 😤🖐️) and Akagi is cheerful as before, but extra glad because you seem to smile a bit more often (and Akagi loves your smile).

「vi. Deal pt. 2」
warning/s: angst (just a lil bit)
a/note: for this smau, like my previous one, there will be numerous chapters wherein they aren’t text chains or necessarily smaus just like this chapter and the prologue. If that’s not to ur liking, or for any reason at all, pls feel free to tell me u wanna be removed from the taglist 🖤
Tumblr media
He skeptically looks out through his window, and just like you had texted him a minute ago, there were no more reporters outside. Finally, he thought, not really expecting you to be telling the truth. Honestly, why do you mess with him so much?
Also, he’s been wondering ever since your reunion if you deliberately went to the gym for him or if that was pure coincidence and you’re spontaneously messing up his life right now. The moment he opens his door, he’s adamant on avoiding you because he just knew the person you were now is adamant on driving him insane by doing things like popping out of nowhere to pester him.
Speaking of which, what the hell are you doing in front of his doorstep? “Sakusa Kiyoomi!” You brightly smile, eyes lighting up at the very sight of him. “Nope.” He pulls the door close but you put a hand to stop him. He tugs on it, making you chuckle, but you stubbornly refuse to let him shut you out.
“Get out.” He snaps. “I’m not even inside, Sakusa Kiyoomi.”
Seriously? Saying his full name like that only ticks him off. “Don’t call me that.” He tugs harsher on his doorknob but you successfully grip the door with both hands now.
“Shall I call you love then?” You tease despite finding it extremely hard to keep the door open. It may now have dawned on to him that this was pointless as he lets go, though he’ll never admit that he’s actually afraid of accidentally shutting the door on your fingers—he knows he easily could.
“What do you want?” He sighs. “We need to talk.”
“About what?” How you left me? How you had the audacity to walk back in my life like you didn’t trample all over me before?
“Our relationship,” you grin. He chokes. “Our what now?” Laughter erupts from your throat, and it was bittersweet. You’re so carefree and mesmerizing—your eyes angelic and genuinely alight. But more than that, you’re ruthless and despicable, he knows that all too well.
“Won’t you invite me in? It’s cold y’know,” you place your hands inside your pockets. “Then freeze,” he narrows his eyes. He absolutely hates you, here he was slightly worrying he’ll go soft and easy on you because one could never control the heart yet you so easily reminded him of why you were the bane to his existence.
“Yup, figured walking in your home wasn’t gonna happen,” you mutter to yourself with a small smile. He hates it. Don’t act like you know him, because at some point you did, but you don’t deserve to have him etched in your memory.
“Tell me what you want so we could get this over with.”
“Right. Yes sir. Yes love,” you chuckle, not even minding that he remains unamused. “My manager has already arranged a live interview this afternoon.”
“You should’ve started with that. So, you’re here to ask me what you should say?” He asks, unintentionally looking down on your hands you’ve rubbed together for friction. It was indeed cold, you brought this upon yourself though.
“No, I’m here to make a deal with you. My statement for my interview later on depends on your response.”
He rolls his eyes, leaning his shoulder on the doorframe because talking to you definitely tired him out; sucked his soul out of him. “And by this lovely deal, what exactly are you proposing? Not that you have a leverage over me now or anything.”
You smile, stepping closer to him but he couldn’t bring himself to pull away. Instead, his feet remained planted to the ground, self-aware of how much his heart was racing right now and the only thing—albeit pathetic—he could do was glare at you.
“Befriend me for a month, that’s it.” That didn’t sound half as bad compared to how devilish you’ve been these past few days. “Go on,” he mutters, stepping back and away from you. “You can’t block my number and you have to reply to my texts.”
“Aren’t you ashamed of how pathetic and selfish you are right now?” He lowly says. You look up at him in surprise, there was faint hurt and vulnerability in his voice that wasn’t there before and you can’t help but feel guilty for it.
“I like you, I don’t know why, I just do.” Pain visits him like an old friend. Casual, embracing, and mind-numbingly heartbreaking. You look up at his eyes and could tell right away the discomfort in them, but it wasn’t just discomfort, there was agony too—perhaps. You could never be too sure, you think, looking down on both your shoes.
“I don’t know why you’re so hellbent on avoiding me, it felt like you hated me the first day we met, and I didn’t like the way you hated me for no apparent reason, much so because I happen to like you.” You’re rarely ever serious or this openly truthful with anyone other than your friends, it was only normal that it embarrassed you. But this didn’t feel exactly foreign either. It felt like he understood you somehow—your words and the thoughts you haven’t exactly expressed.
“I hated you the first time we met?” He repeats and you look at him, surprised at the surreal softness in his voice. “When… was the first time we met, y/n?”
That’s the first time he’s said your name. It made your cheeks flush warm and your eyes widen a fraction. This moment was temporary and fleeting, it was easy to see, because he certainly doesn’t call your name like that so naturally and so right—he certainly doesn’t look at you with the absence of resentment as he normally would.
“Three days ago, outside your gym,” you respond unsurely. As if you’ve reminded him of something utterly annoying, he had closed off himself once more, his eyes unreadable and brooding as they stared back at you.
“And this is why I hate you,” he chuckles humorlessly. You’re still pretending you didn’t know him, as if those years together were something you could so easily erase. “I don’t care what you say in that damned interview. Saying yes to that excessively self-centered deal of yours would lose me my self-respect, you know that.”
He finally steps out the door, closing it behind him as he walks past you and all the way to his car. He hopes this would be the last time he sees you; he desperately hopes so. The last thing he needs is a repeat of the emotional wreck he’s been when he was at the lowest point of his life after you so selfishly left him behind.
“Sakusa Kiyoomi!” You call off, and he stops in his tracks, clenching his teeth. You’re clearly overestimating his patience. “I don’t know how befriending me would lose you your self-respect. Hell, I am so irritated at you right now, hard-to-understand-breathtaking-stupid volleyball player!” You grit your teeth, he scoffs, finding your impudence unbelievably out of this world.
He wanted to bring up your past, to shove it right in your face that you had no right to be angry with his hostility considering everything you’ve done. But he can’t, it’s foolish to bring up history you insist you’ve forgotten. “You better watch my interview later on.”
“Oh?” He mockingly says, turning to look at you, “just what are you going to say?” He admits it is out of character for him to banter off with you like this, if you were someone else, he’s long gone inside his car. Maybe this was his way of saying goodbye to you for good, allowing himself to talk to you like this before moving forward with his life that’s anti-you.
“I’m telling them we’re the bestest of friends but we might marry!” You stick your tongue out at him before running off, you don’t even notice him freeze up. His heart fell to his stomach, he unconsciously held in a breath. No, he didn’t just hold in a breath, it’s getting harder and harder for him to breathe.
There it is again, his old, life-long friend. Crippling pain, anxiety, and resentment bundling up and turning into one heavy-ass anchor, pulling him deeper down than he’s been before. The stability he’s built and worked on by religiously avoiding you for years all went down the drain with those silly words of yours.
Just what kind of ridicule or twisted teasing are you pulling off?
“Wow, I’m surprised you guys put up with Oomi.” He hears your voice, lips tugging upward a little before he realizes what you had just said. Finally entering the gym, he sees you sitting in a circle along with his teammates.
He narrows his eyes at the back of your head. You should be in your winter uniform by now, he bets you forgot. One thing he hated about being a year older than you is that he goes to a different school now that he’s in highschool while you’re still on your last year of middle school, you just can’t seem to take care of yourself enough.
“Yup, Oomi’s really great, he’s the best, I guess that’s why you accept how cold he is sometimes huh,” you snicker, your enjoyment short-lived when you’re engulfed in a jacket and Sakusa’s scent. “Stop giving me backhanded compliments just because you think I’m not around,” he bitterly tells you though there’s a ghost of a smile on his lips.
“Oomi!” You rise up to your feet immediately and flung yourself at him. He catches you with no hesitation of course, guessing that you’re here again because you missed him. The rest of his teammates except Komori are surprised.
“Sakusa-kun, didn’t know you had a middle school girlfriend.”
“Ew, she’s not my girlfriend.” He bites back a smile though when you punch his shoulder. “What’s with the ew? Not that I like Oomi that much—he’s an ass,” you send him a pointed look, “but we’re the bestest of friends,” you grin.
“And we might marry someday, right Oomi?”
His face falls. “Can you not make me cringe like for a week or two, thanks.”
You scowl, “oh, so what, you don’t wanna marry me?” At this point, he blushes, you’re always so blunt and shameless, you could at least tweak it down a bit. He only scoffs, walking past you to pick up a ball from the ground, “didn’t say anything like that.”

Caring for a Sore S/O after Working Out
Kuroo, Bokuto, Akaashi, & Tsukki x Reader - Sore S/O Headcanons
request: “can i request headcanons with the third gym squad when their s/o is sore from doing excercise? usually i don't excercise, the last week i just jump the rope, and my left leg is just aching as hell, Now I'm limping, sliding my hurt leg lmao thank u by the way!!!!!”
a/n: ok i felt this. i haven’t worked out since quarantine began and i am physically falling apart rn. so even if i did workout, i’d probably be in so much pain that i’d quit the next day oop. BUT here’s the 3rd gym squad, at your service bby <33 hope u enjoy!
warnings: slightly suggestive for Kuroo
total wc: 1020
---
Kuroo:
lately Kuroo has been pestering you to come to the gym w/ him
i mean you are dating an athlete and you gotta admit, he looks pretty damn good
but when you wake up at 4am to an unwelcome aching all over your body, the regret sets in
your arms, legs, thighs… everything is so sore. it hurts to even shift under the covers
you stifle several groans, trying not to wake up Kuroo, but he’s such a light sleeper that his eyes are open the second you make a noise
“You okay, babe?” he mumbles sleepily, rubbing his eyes
“Kuroo, I am in so much pain. The gym was a mistake.” you murmur, “What do I do? I don’t think I can go back to sleep.”
“I’ve gotcha, baby. What hurts?” he’s pulling the covers off of you
Your face flushes, skin exposed, unsure of what he’s planning to do
He smirks, “Relax, I’m just gonna give you a massage.”
he’ll start with your shoulders, pressing into them with firm hands, and you release a deep satisfied breath
Tetsurou will work his way down your body, savoring the contented hums you release, making sure to apply direct, but gentle pressure
when he finds his way to your legs, you let out a groan, and now Kuroo’s cheeks are tinged pink
but you’re already sore, so he spares you for tonight
when he’s finished, he leaves trails of kisses down your back and grabs you a heating pad
you thank him with a sleepy peck on the forehead and he responds by pulling you into his arms, ignoring the little “Ouch” you squeak out
Bokuto:
you’d worked out a couple of days ago and Bo was SO PROUD OF YOU
but the thing is, he forgot how sore people could get if they haven’t exercised in a while
so when he came over to your place and leapt into your arms for a hug, you both crashed to the floor, your legs unable to handle the strain of his sudden movements
now you’re not only sore, but there’s a sharp pain shooting up your arm
he’ll feel sO bad about it, apologizing profusely on his knees while grasping your hands
“Y/n, I am SO SORRY. PLEASE FORGIVE ME!”
like babe, he’s pleading, his eyes are so big
and you won’t have any time to respond to him because he’ll have already scooped you up in his arms
he’s holding you bridal style, his grip gentle and secure, eyes on you the whole time
“Were you really that sore, baby?”
“Bokuto, I literally collapsed. What do you think?”
“Please let me make it up to you!” he begs
be prepared for a netflix night and all kinds of takeout food
he’ll make sure your legs are laid over his lap and he’ll keep his warm hands on your thighs the whole time, stroking them softly
now every time you workout, you have to tell him beforehand, bc he’s scared of you collapsing under his crushing hugs
Akaashi:
he’ll see you limping and immediately assess the situation
you’ve clearly done something out of the ordinary, you’ve been complaining about how heavy your arms feel, and you’re unreasonably tired
so when you finally mention your workout the other day, everything clicks and he decides to pull out his full regimen for muscle soreness and strain
he starts randomly bringing you water bottles throughout the day
if it’s your abs that hurt, Akaashi will bring you a hot water bottle and a fuzzy, blanket
at night, before you both finish up some documentary series together, you’ll hear water running in your bathroom
you walk in to find Akaashi filling it up, clouds of bubbles sitting on the water’s surface
he’ll turn around and give you a soft smile
“Thought you might like something soothing, y/n.”
“Akaashi… you’re amazing.”
once you’re relaxed and out of your bath, he motions for you to sit with him, leaving a big space for you to lay out on the sofa
but you’re feeling cuddly and lean into his side
he’ll just run his fingers through your hair, not minding the dampness, lowkey giving you a scalp massage
and if your hair is long enough, Akaashi will move it to the side, lightly brushing the skin on your neck and trace the crevices on your shoulders and neck
you literally work out just so you get this treatment more often lmao
Tsukki:
he actually makes fun of you for trying to exercise in the first place
“You do realize you have to do this again to get results, right?” he snorts, “If you feel this awful, maybe just don’t do it at all.”
Tsukki says that, but the next day he’ll be helping you learn proper form for different exercises
he’ll position your arms and legs so you don’t put pressure on your back and he’ll keep you from overdoing it while on a run
ever wonder why he smells so fresh? this guy uses icy hot all. the. time.
it helps him release all kinds of tension in his muscles
he’ll absolutely convert you to it, you have no choice in this matter
but Tsukishima insists you’re putting it on wrong and definitely uses it as an opportunity to get his hands on you in a slightly more discreet way you’re not fooling anyone, sweetheart
when he’s rubbing it in on your back, you lean into the touch and he teases you by immediately dropping his hands to wash them off
you’ll be pouting around the house, but when he comes back, he’ll start massaging pressure points, rubbing your back and neck
Tsukki’s hands are literal magic yes, you may take this in any way you’d like to
“How’d you get so good at this?” you ask, the soreness slowly fading
“Wikihow.” he says monotonously
“No, really babe. I have to know your secret.”
“...I literally read an article and just figured it out from there.”
he actually probably did learn it off the internet, but you refuse to believe it
Tsukki definitely threatens to charge you for his services, but he secretly relishes how much you seem to enjoy his touch

C L U M S Y | I I D A
Oh, we were destined for danger; familiar strangers. We were bound to make a mess of things, mixin' fireworks and gasoline.

I I D A | P a r t  O n e
[Part Two] [Part Three]
C L U M Y  M A S T E R L I S T
Word Count: 2.4k
Following the rules is all he knew how to do, until he met you.
It was rare for Iida to really stray away from his daily routines. He had developed a strict schedule for himself in during his time at UA. He took his studies very seriously and took to his training even harder, especially after the incident with the villain Stain. If he was going to prove to his family that he was going to be the best, then he had no other choice. Breaking multiple pairs of glasses, going through crazy battles with his fellow classmates, and constantly being on alert during his patrols during his work studies. There wasn’t much that Iida wasn’t prepared for, well, that is, until he met you.
You were definitely the complete opposite of Tenya Iida. You were constantly late to most of your classes, you scraped by with your grades, and you seemed very unorderly when it came to having you act together. There was no denying your quirk was very admirable to get yourself a slot in the 1-A class, but your consistent lack of caring for the rules bothered Iida. He had a great deal of patience when it came to the other students in his class. He let Bakugou’s negative attitude and outbursts slide, he gave up on lecturing Denki about falling asleep in class, and even stopped pestering Sero from leaning back in his chair. Well really, he stopped pestering Sero about that because he convinced Iida he was able to balance it safely with his tape. Which he totally didn’t and hopes Iida doesn’t find out.
Which lead to Iida to question why he was so confused as to why your empty desk this morning bothered him so much. “Good morning Iida!” Ochako greeted him to pull him from his annoyed thoughts. “Good morning to you as well, Uraraka-chan.” He smiled at her but found himself looking back at your empty desk again. “You two didn’t happen to see Y/L/N on your way over from Heights Alliance, did you?” Iida asked finally when Izuku joined the two of them. Izuku quickly turned his attention to your desk and shook his head. “I didn’t see her when the rest of the girls were gathering to walk over this morning. I think Mina-chan went to check on her, but she didn’t answer her door.” Ochako said with a frown.
Iida looked at his watch to see they still had fifteen minutes before class started. He would be damned if he let you skip another day of class, yet again. You were making the rest of class 1-A look bad by not being together for one another. Iida stood abruptly and announced to Ochako and Izuku that he was going to go grab you from your dorm. “Are you going to have enough time before Aizawa-sensei gets here?” Ochako asked. A smirk crossed Iida’s face and she knew almost instantly he was going to use his quirk to quickly get to you. Before she and Izuku could ask anymore questions he was off. He hated using his quirk outside of training because he knew his teachers didn’t approve of it. However, if by chance he were to be caught he could easily explain himself to Aizawa.
He reached Heights Alliance in no time. Noticing that Kaminari and Sero were just now leaving the dormitory. “Iida? I thought you’d be in class by now.” Sero mentioned, raising his eyebrow to his class rep. “I’m getting Y/L/N.” He announced before storming into the building. “Also, you two should hurry up before you are late for homeroom!” He shouted behind him. Sero and Kaminari both laughed and left Iida to his business, knowing not to try and interfere. Iida was a stubborn minded individual who followed through with his plans to completion. While he was heading up the staircase towards your dorm, he checked his watch to make sure he was still good on time, which he was.
He reached your dorm room without a minute to spare and knocked on it three times solidly. “Y/L/N. This is your class rep Tenya Iida. You are going to be yet again late to homeroom class if you don’t hurry.” He announced in a loud stern voice. However, to his surprise he was on the receiving end of radio silence. He knocked again a little louder and waited to hear a response. A huff of frustration left his lips, and he pressed his ear to your door. There was no sound coming from the other side of the door. “I am going to come in, Y/L/N.”  He warned you in hopes to stir some kind of reaction out of you. When you still failed to reply to him, he hesitantly opened the door. He didn’t open it all the way at first to obviously give you respect in case you were changing. Maybe you had headphones on, and therefore you weren’t answering him.
When he noticed the lights were off in your room, he pushed the door all the way open. From what he could see, he saw your small trash can next to your bed and littered next to it was what he assumed were used tissues. “Y/L/N?” He whispered as he approached you closer. You were laying under a bunch of covers and looked like you were still heavily asleep. So, you weren’t technically skipping class on purpose. He had felt bad for assuming with your attendance record that you were just skipping. He cleaned up the used tissues for you and organized your nightstand so that you could easily access the water bottle you had plus the medicine you were taking.
Now that he was thinking about it, over the weekend you had not been very active in the dorm’s activities. He noticed your absence more than he noticed anyone else’s’. He walked back over to you and put a hand on your forehead and felt how bad you were burning up. This little action caused you to stir a bit and grab his arm and pull him into bed with you. This took the boy by surprise as you quickly snuggled yourself into his presence. “Y/L/N! THIS IS HIGHLY INNAPROPRIATE!” He whispered yelled while having his face burn alongside yours.
He didn’t want to wake you up from getting your rest, but he knew he had to get back to class. Panic set in his mind as he tried to find a way to get out of the bed without really disturbing you. However, it seemed like you had a death grip around his neck, and you were not going to let go without a fight.  How on earth did I get myself here… He thought to himself. He let out a sigh and accepted defeat. He was going to have a hard time explaining himself to Aizawa for not showing up to class today. Hopefully Ochako and Izuku would explain to him that he was checking up on you and if you had told Aizawa that you were sick that he would think Iida was taking you to Recovery Girl. Which was a plan of his once you had woken up from your medicine induced slumber.
Iida would be lying to himself if he didn’t take a good look at you while you were sleeping. The way you were snoring lightly made his heart melt. Why did you have to continuously break the rules? He was so smitten for you whether he wanted to admit it or not. He lightly brushed some of the hair out of your face and you had further nuzzled yourself into the side of his neck. The blush he had deepened, and he swore it spread not only to his face but down his neck and to his ears. “You have no clue the effect you have on me…” Iida whispered before lazily running his hands through your hair. Before he could even recognize it, he was falling asleep next to you.
You had stirred a bit after what you felt was hours after taking your cold medicine that Recovery Girl gave you the night before. You were sweating and you assumed because you had broken your fever, however, when you went to move your covers off your person you felt yourself anchored to the bed. Confused, you opened your eyes, and you were face to face with a sleeping Tenya Iida. A blush quickly spread across your face and you let out a tiny yelp. This caused the blue haired boy to stir a bit. You pretended to go back to sleep as if not to get caught staring at your class representative. How on earth did this happen??
The last thing you remembered was taking your medicine before passing back out while everyone else was getting ready for class. Mina had knocked on your door to check in on you, but you were too tired to answer. You had already told Aizawa the night before that you were going to rest up the next day, so you weren’t worried about class. So why was Iida here? You felt him run his hand through your hair lazily and you could feel your face burn even hotter. There was no denying that you had a thing for the strict class rep, but you knew with your lackadaisical attitude that he was not even in the slightest bit interested in you, or so you thought. You weren’t sure what to do, besides attempt to stir him enough so he would jolt out of your bed. He was in your bed. Tenya Iida, the class rep, was in your bed.
You kept repeating yourself over and over in your head and before you could pass out from thinking too hard, he had stirred and stretched himself out. You took this opportunity to release the grip you had on him. You sat up slowly and he quickly retreated out of your bed. It seemed like he was going to make a dash for your door and you quickly reached out and grabbed his hand. He stiffened by your touch and turned back to you. “Y/L/N. ITS NOT WHAT YOU THINK. I WOULD NEVER TAKE ADVANTAGE OF YOU WHILE YOU WERE SLEEPING. I CAME TO CHECK ON YOU SINCE I NOTICED YOUR ABSENCE IN CLASS.” He immediately started to spit out, chopping the air with his free hand quickly.
Your expression softened at his outburst and a soft giggle left your lips. “You must have made the mistake of stirring me in my medicine induced coma. I often latch onto things close to me when I’m sick. I’m sorry for dragging you into my bed.” You shyly spoke, voice raspy from both sleep and from your cold. The two of you sat in awkward silence, not knowing what to say to one another. That is until Iida cleared his throat and pushed his glasses up on his face. He sat back down on your bed and looked at you with a soft expression. “Are you at least feeling better?” Iida questioned, not breaking eye contact with you. You also noticed he hadn’t let go of your hand.
You nodded, breaking the eye contact to look at both of your hands. You knew this wouldn’t last forever, as much as you wanted it to.  “I’m glad you’re feeling a bit better then, Y/L/N.” He said, directly his attention back towards your bedroom door. “I should go back to school. However, I can come check on you when I get back?” He said, standing but not releasing your hand. “I’d like that.” You whispered, a flush of color coming back to your cheeks. Iida had been checking his watch to notice that he had only been gone from class for an hour. He had made a story up in his head to tell Aizawa about his disappearance before smiling at you. “Rest up, Y/N.” He said, leaning over to place a soft kiss to your temple. He squeezed your hand before exiting your room, leaving you a smiling mess.                . . .
When Iida arrived back at the UA Campus, he got chewed out by Aizawa for not being in homeroom class. Even when Iida tried to explain the story to him, Aizawa was not having it. “You are the class rep, don’t make me regret giving you that title if you are going to use it to your advantage.” He sneered before dismissing him from the classroom. He had only gotten reprimanded once before from Aizawa and that was from the incident with Stain. His heart was pounding from the anxiety he was experiencing. He worked too hard to get to where he was now for something so small set him back. He brushed all thoughts of what happened this morning to the side and went on to his next class.
Izuku and Ochako had asked what had happened, but Iida assured that it was nothing serious. That he had lectured you about being late to class constantly and that he helped get you medicine. While it was a lie, he didn’t want to inform his fellow classmates about his inappropriate behavior. If they had learned that he had technically ditched class for something so inappropriate, then it would send the wrong message. While his exterior showed seriousness, he felt himself thinking nonstop about this morning’s actions. He couldn’t let someone like you, who was known for breaking the rules, get him in trouble.
There was a reason that Iida strayed away mostly from the Bakusquad. Kaminari and Sero typically got themselves into a lot of trouble. They were known mainly as the class clowns. While Izuku got himself into trouble as well, it wasn’t on the same level. None of his friends he surrounded himself with were troublemaker’s. They never skipped class to go lay on the roof or fell asleep in the middle of Present Mic’s lectures.
It was almost as if Iida was trying to make it as if this morning didn’t happen. He focused on the lessons for the day and when classes were let out, he immediately went to his dorm room to study. He felt bad for not following through on checking in on you, but he wasn’t about to get caught up in something that would hurt his chance on proving to his family he could be better than Tensei. He would never hear the end of it from his parents if they heard he was slacking on his studies. So, he pushed the thought of you, and his potential attraction to you, to the side. He wouldn’t get caught up in you. Or so he thought…

Hi! First, i love your writing🥺 Now to the point. How about felix, sylvain and dimitri pinning after the female reader? We are basically yeeting ingrid and placing a fem reader instead😂 Like, they are childhood friends and the three of them have had a lovestruck for her since they were kids? And now they just end up fighting for her love or smth? Either hdcns or an scenario is fine! You can pick whichever you wish! However if you dont want to write this req please dont feel forced to! Love u🥺
Thank you so much!! 🖤 And yes, you got it! Bye Ingrid LMAO 😎😎 I write pre timeskip wayyy better so I’m gonna just say that reader is 18 (i don’t write NSFW or anything but age is still a thing lol) so that they’re in between the ages of Dimi + Felix & Sylvain and it works out, hope you don’t mind! I love you too anon 🥺
- Dimi is probably the first one to catch feels when they’re kids! Felix does too but he’s kinda just like wtf is this??? until someone teases him about it. Sylvain is quite ✨special✨ with romance but I think he’d be inclined to trust you a lot more because you’ve known him since you were teeny tiny before you even knew wtf a crest was! So he probably also catches feels when you’re kids but then he goes through his whole girl phase SIGH
- None of them realize their predicament until they all see you again at the officer’s academy together. I wouldn’t say they’re super obvious about it, but they’re teenagers (well Syl isn’t but shhhhh) who all like the same person so they’re going to pick up on each other’s crushes while reader remains ignorant. It’s not an issue that needs to be addressed immediately, but they’re all watching each other cautiously.
- Syl would have a massive head start on flirting with you, but he’s faced with the big issue that you don’t believe he’s being genuine and brush him off. Felix is constantly challenging you to duels to get close to you and also have alone time with you, although the other 2 will occasionally ruin his plans and insist on joining. Ah man bby Dimitri would probably come across as a little overbearing because he’s very protective of you and is constantly offering to do things for you. He’s just a mother hen that’s whipped for you and doesn’t know any other way to express it!
- When it comes to the 4 of you sitting together at lunch or in class, Sylvain is the worst. He’s very aware that his competition is far less bold than him, and so he’s making sure he’s always closest to you. Will squish as close to you as humanly possible HE WOULD DEADASS PUT YOU IN HIS LAP IF HE COULD 😭 If he puts a hand on your thigh or an arm around you it’s a wholeass declaration of war.
- Felix will likely become much more protective which may cause a lot of yelling at you for being careless or weak, but really he’s just so worried! To ease his mind, he’ll help you correct your mistakes himself (which has the added bonus of getting really close to you and occasionally lowkey holding hands when he adjusts your grip). Around other people, especially Dimitri and Sylvain he’ll be evidently sweeter to you to get the message across. A blended mix of jealousy and concern will make him very protective of you around the other two. Dimitri is not getting within 5 feet of you while guard dog Felix is around.
- In the Blue Lions the tension in the air is so thick you could cut it with a knife everyone is thoroughly confused but frankly just sick of it lol. Felix glaring at Dimitri? That’s totally normal but Dimitri is doing it back AND Sylvain is added to the weird stare off- wtf happened?? Byleth would have to talk to them after class and be like guys what in the goddess’s name happened 😭 They’ll all give a vague answer that doesn’t give away that it’s about you and each one of them has a jab at the others to shift the blame..please find your chill lads !
- At this point everything gets a little bit needier because they’ve all had this pent up yearning but have been blocked by the others. (If you’re ok with it) Sylvain will just randomly peck you on the cheek or your forehead when he sees you and you’re just like LOL ok ✨typical Sylvain✨ But when you sit next to him at lunch or in class he’s started very tenderly holding your hand under the table and you’re like huh ok that’s a little odd. If Dimitri is on the other side of you he will carefully take your other hand in retaliation. Felix will probably give in and do the same but he’ll snatch your hand a lot more aggressively and look away from you with a scowl and a blush.
- Dimi and Felix are both touch starved AF and would very much appreciate cuddles or any physical contact. If you’ve reacted positively to everything thus far, Dimitri will slowly start to bite the bullet and initiate affection because he wants it so bad. Any time you touch Dimitri, he gets sappy and lovey af and will express his adoration in hopes that you’ll keep giving him affection. Felix would never upfront ask for affection but he just kinda sits really close to you and glares at you with a little pout and you will have to realize that this is Felix language for ‘it is a crime that you aren’t cuddling me rn’.
- Obviously Sylvain gets lots of physical contact with women but I don’t ever see it as holding affection yknow?? Like yeah he spends a night or two with chicks after them crest babies™️ (i cannot take myself seriously this sentence is so funny-), but I don’t really think that they’ve done actual cuddling or casual displays of affection like petting someone’s hair because they likely don’t care too much for Sylvain and will just do the bare minimum. So in a way, Sylvain is also starved of affectionate touches and he would very much appreciate the little things that no one else has done for him. It’s new and scary for him to actually seek romantic attention, but he’s still pretty bold, just not very tactful when it comes to you lol. If you’re sitting by yourself on a bench he will not hesitate to sprawl himself out on top of you with his head in your lap and stare up at you with an innocent grin. Is also lowkey not embarrassed to whine or pester you?? His reputation is pretty hopeless at this point so what does he have to lose by sitting behind you in class and poking you while dramatically whining about you not paying attention to him?
- Attention is a huge deal to Sylvain. It’s one of the main things he’s looking for when he randomly flirts with people at the monastery. He can’t handle being ignored and that leads him to often seek many girls at once so that he always has attention when one is busy. But when it comes to you he finds himself in deep shit because once he’s gotten a little bit from you, everyone else seems minuscule and with others he only receives a mere fraction of the satisfaction he gets from being with you. So he’s gradually allotting more and more time to you until he hardly talks to any other girl. But Sylvain is used to being the one that everyone wants more of, so when he finds himself in the shoes of the smitten women that piss him off, he’s plagued by the worry that you’ll think he’s overly needy. So he comes to seek validation from you too. If he can just get you to comb your fingers through his hair or give him a kiss on the cheek then he can renew his confidence in trying to court you.
- Dimi is somewhat similar but for different reasons and in different ways. Dimitri has practically no experience with romance so he’s extremely smitten and has an overwhelming desire for the affection you give him that he’s never had. But he’s painfully aware of how extreme his feelings are in comparison to any other couples he may have seen at the monastery, and he’s terrified that he’ll scare you away if he expresses exactly how much he yearns for you. So Dimitri is always very visibly holding back much like he often holds back his strength. Dimi will do anything for you or with you, but you have to initiate it so he can be certain that he’s not smothering you. On days where he’s extremely lovey and never wants to let go of you (which is kind of often lol) he will constantly ask if you’re sure that he’s not bothering you. He is just so horrified at the thought of messing up whatever it is you have.
- Felix will be very easily overwhelmed by you, so it’s much better if you wait to cuddle up to him until you can both go to one of your rooms. It’s not that he doesn’t want to be touched, he does, but his feelings for you make him way too vulnerable for his liking, so he’s not going to want anyone else around. Felix is still Felix and he goes off to take out his feelings in the training grounds every free day, but has started occasionally coming to your room when he’s done for the day and receiving his required cuddle time away from prying eyes. He may have accidentally fallen asleep with you a couple times..
- You’ve probably snuck in to sleep in Dimi’s room on occasions when he’s dangerously sleep deprived. The man, the myth, the legend Dedue would definitely help sneak you in because he knows it does Dimi a lot of good. Dimitri is able to fall asleep with you practically on top of him in his grasp. Feeling your heartbeat close by and your hair beneath his head and hearing you breath peacefully is enough to ground him from his fear of losing you too. He’ll still have nightmares, trauma is a bitch, but when you’re there you can bring him back down and he’ll eventually be able to fall back to sleep (which he typically can’t do alone). It’s not a perfect night’s sleep, but it’s enough to keep Dimi functional and that’s what you’re there for. He’ll thank you a million times and unnecessarily apologize for the inconvenience, please do what you can to reassure him that he’s not a nuisance to you.
- SIGH Sylvain, this god damn silly little goose, is extremely distressed by his feelings for you and even moreso by his developed neediness. It honestly kinda scares the shit out of him to realize he’s whipped for someone and at a loss for a way to ask you out. He’s used to having that power, to have someone’s feelings in the palm of his hand where he can do anything he wants. Genuinely trying to figure out how he would court someone is a frightening new thing for him and he’s suddenly on a playing field where he doesn’t have his experience or his power to shield himself with. So he reverts to his old ways to try to get a handle on his fear and have his confidence boosted back up. But of course, Syl still wants all the attention he can get from you so you so he spends all of the day with you, then does his other girl bullshit at night! It doesn’t go as smoothly as planned though..Sylvain is used to being yelled at by crying girls, but it hasn’t gone unnoticed that he ignores them all day and drops by whenever he feels like it, and he ends up getting in some pretty nasty arguments that do not help his already vulnerable state. So it’s like 2 AM and Sylvain’s feeling like a sorry sack of potatoes and just wants to be held by someone and talk until falling asleep in their arms. And there’s only one person who Sylvain wouldn’t mind being open with and who could provide him genuine comfort..and you’re the lucky winner of the ‘Sylvain on your doorstep at 2 AM’ lottery!! Unless your sleep schedule is wack you’re gonna be all groggy like hey uhh wtf Syl??? And that is how the occasional nights that Sylvain falls asleep in your room happen!
- If the 3 of these scenarios interfere with each other ummmmmmmmm no they didn’t 😳
Ok! That’s where I’m leaving off because I don’t want to try to write endings with you picking one of them it just makes me kinda sad LMAO. Bro omg it’s the return of the ridiculously long Allister fics she do be goin a little insane though 😳 But for real I’ve been gradually adding to this for like?? a week? And I just kept picking cute relationship milestones or whatever in my walnut brain and writing a point for each of them so that the 3 of them are equally written. So it might not line up perfectly but I hope you like it!!

 ⭑ 🎸
It was deathly silent in the spacious former home of Brian and his beloved, that had now been reduced to only a house. The ticking of the grandfather clock he had insisted that they had to have when they moved in could be heard ringing out and echoing, pestering the girl to no end.
It was always quiet in their house, even when they fought. There was never a rushed bustle of children you had to get out the door to school, and not even a cat or dog to create a disruptive chaos as they ran about, muddy paws leaving marks on the floor.
There would be the occasional record playing lowly, the notes floating about the house, and sometimes if she couldn’t sleep, she would have Bri play her a soft tune on his old acoustic, his voice having no issue bringing her to rest.
But even now, during one of the most heart wrenching fights that the pair had gone through, it was so quiet you could hear a pin drop on the hardwood flooring.
As Brian was a soft and gentle man, never yelling or raising his voice in the slightest. He wasn’t mean or cruel, in fact, his entire aura calmed her to no end, which is why she supposed she hated this so much.
She scanned with careful eyes over his silhouette, watching as stray curls rustled from the draft coming in from the open window, goosebumps raising on both of their exposed arms.
“What are you looking at?”
“Just you, Bri.”
He rolled his eyes from where he sat on the white sofa, moving his fist under his chin. A scoff fell from his rosy lips as he turned his head to look out the window, not actually paying any mind to the green hills, a light frost covering the entire landscape.
“So are you just going to ignore me?”
“I’m not ignoring you.”
A salty tear rolled down her face, the incoming breeze hitting her dampened face. She inhaled sharply, her chilled skin becoming slimy and cold to the touch.
Brian wouldn’t know that, though, he hadn’t touched her in days. Weeks, even.
She had wanted to say that his words were malicious, with venom dripping from his tone, like some sort of acid was coating his vocal cords.
But they weren’t. His voice never raised a damn octave, staying completely neutral. And it was driving her mad.
“Then what is this, Brian?”
“I’m collecting my thoughts.”
She laughed, the sound lacking its usual melodic intonation that the guitarist adored so much. He was the reasoning behind the dry chuckle, that much he knew, and he hated it. God, how he despised it. But, he would never let it show. How could he, when he was the initiator of the (extremely childish, now that he thought over it) conflict to begin with? He knew his accusation was emptier than the large building they resided in, and he knew that the results would be horrendous.
But jealousy was an ugly green parasite that had rooted itself in Brian May’s heart, slowly consuming him from the inside out. It was like a devil that rested on his left shoulder, insisting that she was unfaithful, taking advantage of his extended leaves. He foolishly acted on the devil’s words, which led to where they were now.
“Well, how long do you need to ‘collect your thoughts’?” She folded her leg under her opposite thigh, leaning towards him, the distance of only a few feet feeling like worlds away to her broken heart. She would always be drawn to him like some sort of magnet, no matter how badly he hurt her.
“I’m not sure, would you like me to do so elsewhere?”
A beat passed.
“Why, so you can go shag someone else, just like I apparently have been?”
Again, silence.
“You were gone for 3 hours every night on every Tuesday the past month-“
“You kept track? You’re out of your damn mind.” She raised her voice, sitting up, suddenly enraged with his obsessive distrust rather than saddened.
“That’s not important-“
“What’s important is that you’re gone on tour for 10 times as long as that, leaving me here completely alone to my own devices! I trust you enough to believe that you remain mine while you’re away, but for some unknown reason, you can’t manage to think the same about me.”
His flippancy on the issue at hand agitated her (or his lack thereof in general, she supposed) to no end. She wanted him to scream and cry, to throw something, to loudly shout, to shed fury fueled tears as she had. She knew it was wrong, but quite frankly she didn’t care.
He tried to speak up for himself, stuttering out something about how he did in fact trust her, but all to no avail. She would have none of it, not now.
“What’s important, Brian, is that every Tuesday, I’m staying 3 hours after work to try to make it so that I don’t have to rely on you for money, because I don’t want you to think even for a moment I’m with you just because you’re some incredibly famous rockstar who happens to be loaded!”
She was standing now, although she couldn't quite remember bringing her body from the comforts of the soft chair by the mantle to her feet. The roaring fire beside her had died down into a flurry of golden embers, heat still radiating from the pile of charred logs, Brian failing to provide even a fraction of the same warmth.
“Because I love you, and as of late, I’m starting to wonder if you love me too.”
He stood, walking over to where she was in a timely manner, his long legs carrying him quickly. Her breath hitched at their sudden proximity, her surprise only growing when he gripped his hands on either side of her face, pulling her forward and capturing her lips in a long awaited union.
She loathed that her stiff figure was melting into him faster than she would like to admit, and she even more, she loathed the fact she knew she always would.
He was able to taste her tears that hadn’t ceased to roll down her face, the bitter droplets seeping onto the tip of his tongue. He pulled away, his right hand caressing her cheekbone while his forehead rested upon hers. His bottom lip quivered, a wave of emotions hitting him like a hurricane in full force.
His eyes become glassy, and all at once, tears flood his eyesight, pouring down his flushed features. He looked down, shutting his eyes and shaking his head. The bawling didn’t stop as he had hoped, though, it just slowed, the liquid dropping onto her shirt.
“I love you, I love you so much that it hurts. And ’m sorry, I’m so incredibly sorry, darling.”
She smiled softly, lightly massaging the top of his scalp, his locks growing frizzy.
“I know. But it’s just so hard- It seems everyone is getting married, and settling down. Hell, even Fred has his cats.”
They both laughed, and she chewed her bottom lip, a habit of hers that Bri had picked up on in the time he’d known her.
“I just get lonely, Bri, and it feels like you never let me know what’s going on in that pretty head of yours. That’s all, honest to God.”
They moved to sit down, and he pulled closer than they had been in ages.
“I’ll support you in any way shape or form, no matter what, yeah?”
She simply nodded, leaning onto his shoulder.
“Yeah. I know.”
Raising his eyebrows, he cocked his head, choosing his next words carefully.
“And if you’re serious about, y’know, having a family and ‘settling down’ and everything, I’ll do it.”
She met his eyes, her smile growing wider.
“Really?”
He hummed, nodding his head. “I love you, and this house is far too quiet.”
She giggled, tossing her arms around his neck and throwing herself on him.
“I must say I agree.”
After the grins had retreated into soft smiles, and the two had come to a much more stolid point, she sat up, patting her lap.
Brian understood immediately, laying his tired head down and allowing her to play with his hair. She moved her hands to oh so lightly trace the crook of his nose and the bags under his eyes (from the late nights he spent performing, wishing he was in the exact position he was in now), the ticklish feeling making him nuzzle into her hand with a whine.
She couldn’t help but smile at the beautiful boy beneath her, as even with all the work that there was to be done between them, she felt confident that he was in it for the long haul.

soft skz thoughts: cuddling in chan's tight arms on a lazy sunday evening🤗🥰-🦋
Tumblr media
*:・゚✧ cuddling with channie 2 | fluff | 398 words | no warnings
Tumblr media
So it’s Sunday
Y’know what that means?
You absolutely pester Chan to take a break from his work before his hands fall off
He’s so hardworking :”)
Basically pestering means that you waddle your way to his studio with a pout on your face, see that he’s still sitting on that damned computer (╬▔皿▔)╯
And basically push his laptop to the side (being careful to not accidentally close something of course) and then plop down into his lap.
He’ll be like :O and then he’ll go >:(
“Y/N... What are you doing!!”
“I miss my boyfie—” You shift your position so that your legs hang off his waist and wrap your hands around his shoulders
So you’re basically a koala 🐨 and he’s trapped
“—Plus you promised that you’d be free today :((”
Ofc when you make the  :(( face Chan can’t possibly do anything other than
Lean in and kiss the :( out of you
And it’s not even questionable, the moment his lips press against yours you’re smiling into the kiss like 🤭
Also can I sidetrack for a bit and tell you how fucking soft Chan would get when you call him your boyfie
It’s just — ah, you’re already so adorable and cute and then you using such cute language makes him want to pull you into his arms and protect you from the cruel world :(
Which he does
He immediately laughs, giving you that adorable eye smile and those dimples... 🥺
“Awe, baby. I’m sorry...” He gives you the pout™ that makes you want to kiss those stupidly attractive lips of his for some reason. “I’ll make it up to you now.”
He immediately lifts you up, giggling at the yelp you let out and the way your fingers curl into his hoodie
Oh and may i say :(
Bonus if he’s wearing an oversized hoodie for cuddling because then you can sneak under it and lay against his warm and soft skin and fall asleep in the most comfortable position in the world 🥺✨
And of course today is so exception, so he walks to the couch and plays some random movie channel
Of course you’re not even paying attention, because as soon as Chan sits down you nuzzle into his shoulder, kissing it gently before nuzzling the side of his neck
And like... would you seriously give up on the opportunity to compliment him? No of course not :D
The moment he starts blushing even the slightest from your tiny gestures of affection, you’re in it to tease him
You’ll coo at him softly and cup his cheeks in your hand and when they feel warm you’ll squish them slightly and kiss the pout off his face
Also his ears get so red :((
You call this guy pretty one time and he’ll grow immensely flustered, shyly hiding his 🍅 face into your shoulder and then whine sweetly :(
When you get a little too teasing about him though, he’ll silently lie down on the couch and pull you on top of him, and then commence the snuggles 🥺🤗 Before you can even protest though, he’ll already be coming through your hair and admiring your features — so it’s your time to get shy shy >///<
You both just sit there and chat and occasionally one of you gets a little too affectionate and kisses the other at random times - but you don’t complain because Chan’s kisses >>>
Anyways lazy sunday cuddles + Chan = my serotonin thank you.

Rally’s Scribbles in the Work
So after that lovely anon blew my mind away with their kind words and wonderful support, and because I keep telling you guys about my writing plans without actually giving you even a teensy little detail, I have decided to stop being coy and actually likely get your hopes up a bit by dilvulging small details and bits of plots of what is currently going on in my G-Drive.
This will be a brief recount of what I have currently baking in the AoMomo oven, so let’s dive right into it! Please note that the numbers are in no particular order - I just keep revisiting each of these stories and writing a bit more to them whenever I feel like it. So there’s no ranking and no importance, just a number to keep proper count.
1. “Knight of Renown” Dragons and Knighthood AU, based on that one AoMomo pic with Momo ithe Knight and Dragon Aomine that I reblogged a while back and I actually let me imagination go a bit too much in the tags. I ended up actually rather enjoying the premise I set up in the tags so I actually started writing that one out!  Completion rate at about: 5%? I’d say? Less? :D
2. AoMomo Music AU - a dearly beloved project that I am pouring a lot of love and attentioin to. That’s why it’s coming along super slow. It’s been in the making since November and I chewed it and mulled through it so thoroughly that I’ve grinded to a halt with it. Intending for there to be 2 chapters, and I am at about 25-30% of chapter 1 currently ready currently. At the pace I’m going, it might be another full year before you actually get to see this bad boy up, but when you do, I’m sure you’ll see all the care and effort that went into making it perfect. Honestly, no joke here, I am intending for this to be one of my rare masterpieces in this tag. So I’m not gonna rush it!
3. AoMomo Car Accident AU where Daiki barely manages to save Satsuki from being run over by a hit-and-run and ends up being the one run over instead. This was my first piece of writing after coming back to AoMomo last summer and yet completion rate is a sad thing. I want it to be flawless, a perfectly agonizing, thrilling type of torturous read that gives you a great sense of relief by the end of it. Needless to say, the clusterfuck of negative feelings is a bit difficult to hold onto for a prolonged period of time and the work is coming along slowly. Planned at about 5 chapters, I have 2 complete ones and the 3rd one is at about ... 30%? Hopefully before this year’s whumptober, we’ll have a finished piece!
4. AoMomo bond character study, which went in a direction I did NOT expect nor intend. It was suppsoed to be an idea that you will see also listed below. But I started this one from their early childhood and somehow, instead of focusing on the kids and their bond and their weird interactions with each other and their first moments of realizing they are of opposite genders, it turned into something much too fun to let go of and the ideas for scenes just kept piling. It’s going to be a long one, very explorative and very in-depth character study on the bond between these two and how it changed over the years, and their first encounters with their sexuality inbetween (because that was really the main idea that I started with... xDDD;;;) Currently at 1 chapter complete, chapter 2 somewhere around 50-60% completion, and at least 6-7 chapters to come after that, soooo.... :’DDDD YEAH. THIS ONE AIN’T SEEING THE LIGHT OF DAY ANYTIME SOON.
5. AoMomo deciding to practice stuff on each other, because I am a sucker for this trope.THIS will be what the idea under previous number 4 was SUPPOSED to be like, but it instead spun out of control. So this one, under number 5, is going to be the smutty, idiots bumbling through physicality to discover that they actually have serious feelings for each other kind of piece. Chapters are planned at about at least 6-7 or so, but not my usual monstrocities! :D First we start with practice kissing, and we move our way up from there!
6. “The Evil of Humanity” AU - a dystopian futuristic kinda mecha AU, sort of an amalgamation of some of my favourite anime in the genre - a bit of NGE, a bit of Gurren-Lagann, a lot of Darling in the Franxx rewrite and improvement, in distinctly AoMomo colors. I poured a lot of thought and love into initial outline of main moments for this one, and I really hope to make it an epic, thrilling action/adventure with a big dash of romance kind of read! Chapters currently not even planned properly, because I need to sit down and consider this seriously. It will definitely be more than 10-15 though, and they will be my usual chapter lengths so.... likely no time soon. :D
7. Aomine Fanclub - I got a plot bunny some time ago and I shared it here and my friends were spurring me on with it, so I started trying it out a little more. I’ve written out like... maybe 30% of this one as well, but need to re-read and reconceptualize to get it back on track. The issue with this one is that I’m not really sure where I want to take it, thus it’s on the back burner at the moment.
8. KagaKuro AoMomo double-date kind of story, where Aomine is asking some curious questions of Taiga about going to America and pondering if any of his immediate friends know what Satsuki wants to do with her life. I’m really invested in this one but haven’t started properly writing it out yet beyond just sketching out the idea so I don’t forget it. (I’d say 1% complete here.) Really looking forward to using the idea of Kagami being super impressed with AoMomo perfect sync when playing as a team in arcade games!
9.Laws of Attraction Chapter 2 - You might be surprised at this, but I’m actually super invested in this one. Likely the reason why I am delaying so much working on it - I feel like all my great scene ideas are just too chaotic and I have a hard time starting the chapter flowing properly. I had like 4-5 false starts already and I’m feeling a bit skittish with picking it up. But I have such AMAZING concepts on where to take it after it revvs up the engine, so... Maybe sometime this year! Completion rate: 0% written, but at least about 30% ideas built up for the installment!
10. AoMomo college rooming together story - sort of an expansion on my fill for one of the prompts way back those years ago in AoMomo week. I really dig the concept and the trope of sharing spaces with someone you consider nothing more than a friend and then gradually learning to appreciate each other for something so much more. I am definitely doing this one some day, but not anytime soon, likely.
11. A random idea bit me the other day (read: a month ago) and I actually wrote out like... maybe 25% of it already as well. A random comment from Wakamatsu miffs Satsuki but then she realizes why he’s asking dumb questions and she comes to realize that something is wrong with the equation: either Dai-chan likes someone really close to them and she hasn’t realized, which is unlikely, or Dai-chan likes HER and is super blase about it in a way that betrays his feelings not at all, which is even more unlikely. Being a curious  individual, she sets out to find which it is! Some hilarity should ensue but mostly just some mess-with-Dai-chan fun!
12. Touou summer training camp at the sea - progress is practically 0, I wanted to write a summery piece and set my mind on this, but nothing beyond has come to me, so I’m not forcing it.
13. AoMomo cultural festival fic in second year of high school (meaning something approx end of Oct -> beginning of Nov.) with Daiki being in a distinctly Haruhu Suzumiya role at that festival (has anyone even seen this anime? I adored that episode to freaking bits, man, it’s engraved upon my soul) and singing Billy Idol’s “Rebel Yell” and one more song just like Haruhi did. And Satsuki just beholding the phenomenon he becomes in no time flat while he lays bare his passion for life for all the student body to see. Shippiness will happen in private afterwards!
14. You Can Leave Your Hat On Chapter 2 - Probably like 2-3 years ago while I was still in the damn woodwork and wrestling with real life and adulting being crap, I remembered this AU premise and I got super hyped on the idea of Club Owner Dai-chan being a flirt with innocent Satsuki who got dragged to his joined and fell in love at first sight with his shenanigans. I’ve already played around for like 7k words with the second chapter of this but I’m still not where I want to be at, so it will take a while longer to flesh it out.
15. Idol Worship - a story that I promised my mate aricana some 6 years ago the premise for which I am super hyped for but not quite engaging with it yet. The idea was that Momoi finally starts gettiing the dates she has been pesting Kuroko for for years, and Daiki feeling terrible about beholding that, whilst Kise is being pestered by Horikita Mai for a date and instead ditches her with Daiki because he knows his former Teikou classmate is a huge fan of her. Mai-chan isn’t particularly happy but somehow ends up enjoying her time with Daiki and starts considering actually pursuing him instead of Kise when she sees what an interesting soul he is, with the torch that he’s carrying for some girl in his life he doesn’t really talk about but is evident from the little things he drops off as hits. AoMomo shenanigans will start to ensue properly when Satsuki realizes that Daiki is actually having a close female friend who is not her but is Horikita Mai instead, Dai-chan’s perfect woman, practically. She doesn’t take well to the news and has to grapple with why that is! And what to do with these newfound frustrating emotions!
16. Obstruction of Justice Chapter 3 - MAYBE SOME DAY, I WILL GET TO WRITING THIS. Last summer I inteded to do just that but instead, Wild Side of Justice was born. And it became a spin off of sorts on its own. ORZ. I WILL FINISH THIS SOME DAY, I do have some plans for it and I do have the desire to pursue them. I just need to be in the right headspace for it ahsjkfhkjaf
17. A PWP story of Kagami arriving early for a practice match at Touou and somehow walking in on AoMomo getting busy with each other in very unexpected and explicit ways that Kagami did not see headed his way. Because, we need more PWP in this fandom, honestly.
18. And since we DO need more PWP, recently when checking the 30 lemons community on LJ (shut up, I’m not ancient, YOU’RE ANCIENT) I was wondering how exactly a smut plot around the “Taken by the Faceless Stranger” could work for Aomomo and I came up with this Masquerade ball that they end up both attending because of their friends and meeting each other and hitting off fantastically just chatting the night and then banging in a niche in the long castle-like premise of the ball. :’DDDD Cuz it’s me and if I don’t have something like that in the works, you know i’m likely sick.
ALL OF THESE I am planning on eventually finishing one day. ONE DAY!
For now they are in various states of completion and in various stages of being cared for and improved on with more ideas added and fleshed out.
I am not joking when I say I am very invested in this fandom. I just have difficulty getting to writing out these ideas when I spend like 60% of my free time playing my mobile games. :D
So there you have it. I didn’t want to say anything about these because 1) I don’t want to get your hopes up. You Can Leave Your Hat On 2, for one, has been in the making for 3 years, very on-again-off-again kind of way, and I just... can’t do that to you guys. I have decided against posting any incomplete fics so I don’t torture you guys and my muse doesn’t abandom me forever for them. So when something is complete, it gets posted promptly for your viewing pleasure!
And 2) If I divulge too much of the story, I feel like my hype of it may disappear completely. Ehh, my muse is a willful creature, what can I tell you...
So let’s hope at least SOME of these get to see the light of day soon!

oh em gee heyyuh segc thing 😏💋 congrats once again on the milestone sweetie 😘👏🏻 can I get uhh one match up with a guy joo-say-oh? *why do I think I know who you'll give 🤔*
my pronouns are she/her, no zodiac cause I don't believe in those 🥲 i have shoulder-blade length black hair with flat bangs (imagine Yosano but uglier) and am 5"2 (157 cm to he exact) rip
Hobbies include analysing so many things (I'm pretty sure I'm slightly decent at recognising people's qualities), writing, reading, and drawing. I'm a musician but it's ages since I've played. I love talking with my baes too! Youll immediately know I like you if I keep pestering you lol. Oh and you know who my kins are bae 😚🍀💗
My love languages are (as the recipient) Acts of Service and Quality Time and I also love giving Words of Affirmation to my babies ☺ Lifting their confidence is literally one of my favourite things to do and I'm a super ride or die person. I literally squared up to defend my friends several times 🤪
My aesthetic is all over the place 🤧 Is it light academia? Is it street style? Is it soft? I have no idea. I like cute stuffs tho, like those kinds of pretty Korean outfits. Fave colours are uh lilac or tosca or soft brown
My dream date is to visit a theatre/orchestra and book stores oh my god. Those calming stuffs like that 👉🏻👈🏻
I hope I make sense 🥲 And I hope this isn't too much? Uwhduwus im so sorryyyy if it is 😢❤ Once again congrah too lay sheons baybee 🤪🎊
I match you with...(you already know so lemme make this fun for both of us 🥲)
Sakunosuke Oda! ´ˎ˗
(surprise shawty 🥲🎉)
Tumblr media
👾 oda doesn’t befriend many people, so I feel like you guys would be friends before lovers. you mentioned you can understand people pretty fast, so if you confront him about himself, he’ll probably be standing there like “damn, woman 👴🏻.” he’ll probably be reluctant to tell you he’s into writing stories (he’s a little shy okay) but once he realizes you’re also into writing stories, he’ll low key be so excited to talk to you about it (he won’t outright show his excitement tho) the least he’ll say is “oh? oh that’s nice🙂🤝” don’t be fooled, he’s jumping on the inside.
👾 you might pester him a lot, and he might not give much of a reaction but really, he’s super glad that you haven’t become bored of him and his rock personality 😚 I feel like his love language is also quality time, seeing as though he works in the mafia and doesn’t get much free time. the time you guys spend together is probably at book stores or definitely with the orphans.
👾 this man is kinda touch deprived okay🧍‍♂️he didn’t realize how much cuddling he needed until he saw you in a pretty comprising position where the orphans where sleeping with you, all cuddled up by your body. mans almost dropped his grocery bags and just stood there like “🧍‍♂️💗” he thought to himself “I must obtain this thing humans call...cuddling🧍‍♂️”
👾 lemme sayyy—oda isn’t one to talk about his feelings, not because he thinks they aren’t important—more like he doesn’t wanna bother you with them. so your love language being words of affirmation and boosting confidence is perfect for him ☺️ you always notice when he’s feeling a little glum, so just grab his cheeks, place a big kiss on his nose and assure him that he’s the best man anyone could ever ask for 🥰

3: I’m a little introverted, I’ve been told I’m really intelligent, but honestly it’s only book smarts. I’m VERY highly attuned to peoples emotions and can literally tell how they’re feeling all the time (it usually makes ppl freak out I’m so sorry I don’t do it willingly). I enjoy reading books, going on runs, and playing with my cats. There are some board games I like, like battleship, chess, Axis and Allies, and Trivia! I hope this helps!
4: first date has to be in a more public space, you can never truly trust anyone. Either restaurant where we can get to know each other, or taking a walk in the park. Really anywhere that’s public
5: someone I feel safe and comfortable with, maybe someone who can make me laugh, someone who’d never hurt me and would protect me. I’d try to protect them too ofc and take care of them!
6: first date kisses on the lips are a no, on the cheek maybe. Brushing hands but not outright holding haha. That’s 2nd or 3rd date material
7: yes I would! I’m a genshin characters whore!
Thank u for doing this Lynn and I hope it won’t be too much on you with all the requests! If it is just ignore this tbh! 💜😸
A/N: I'm so glad you were excited for this event because I honestly didn't know if people would be interested! Thank you for the overwhelming support on my event (and sorry to the 10+ submssions I turned down because it was past deadline). You were one of the easiest ones to decide for, once I read it through it was an instant match hehe
But without further ado, you're going with...
Xingqiu!
Tumblr media
My reasons!
For starters, I saw you mention books and reading and immediately thought of him. Whether or not you are as into the hobby as he is, a little common ground is always a positive thing! Xingqiu is definitely a person that is able to humour you, and would never ever wish to harm you on purpose. He'd definitely work better with someone on the intelligent side, and because he sometimes hides the way he truly is to set up a facade in front of his father and brother, you acknowledging how he truly feels (so you can hopefully make him feel better) would be a pleasant thing. I also think that he'd try his best to cheer you up whenever you're done, whether it's with cheesy prose, or a fun, carefree outing or even just sitting down together to read in silence. I honestly didn't really have another match in mind for you I'm sorry! I struggled finding another possible candidate so I shall leave it at that :)
The First Date:
"Aha! Checkmate!"
You triumphantly knocked over his king piece over with your rook. "Better luck next time?"
"No way, I'm picking the game this time. Haven't you had enough fun beating me thrice in a row?" Xingqiu took a defeated sip of his drink before cleaning the table of the scattered chess pieces.
You watched his back as he returned the box to the area that had stacks of all sorts of board games free to use for the customers of this particular cafe.
Xingqiu called it a 'board game cafe' and after hearing about it, you pestered him to put down his damn book and take you there.
"It's a shame Chongyun and Xiangling couldn't make it, it'd be a lot of fun if they could play too wouldn't it?" You slipped out the new activity out of it's box, careful not to damage anything, and started setting it up.
"Truly a shame," Xingqiu said, clearing his throat. "Ah, battleship! I used to play this with my brother back in the day."
You tilted your head, unsure if he suspiscious for changing the subject too fast, or if it was merely you who was thinking too much. You mentally shrugged your shoulders. Even if the other two weren't here, spending some time with Xingqiu outside of reading quietly together was new, and quite enjoyable in it's own way anyhow.
"Ready to lose?" You taunted, making a show of cracking your knuckles.
"'Tis I, who should be asking you that milady," he switched into his formal tone and you know it's on.
Two losses and three wins later, the topic diverts and you find yourself showing him pictures of your cats and him telling you about a novel he's been working on.
"Well it's far from ready, but I will make sure you are the first to read it when it's done," he assured you before taking downing the last bit of liquid from his cup.
You do the same.
"Oh, and before I forget, I finished the book you recommended me last time! It was so good I couldn't put it down!"
Slipping the hardcover from your bag, you place it on the table to return to its owner.
"What did I tell you?" Xingqiu grinned. "Just wait until you read the third chapter of the second book, it was enough to give me goosebumps."
Chatting about it certainly made you more and more curious, so the both of you head down the street to your favourite book shop to buy your own copies of the installment.
You looked through the various titles available, but ultimately settling for just the books you came for.
After paying (in which you had a small back-and-forth because Xingqiu insisted to buy them for you, and that he did) you held clutched them close to your chest, excited to pore over the pages later.
"Thank you for this, you didn't have to..."
You looked down as you both walked, a strange, unfamiliar feeling of shyness bubbling up inside you.
"It was no big deal," Xingqiu laughed slightly, swinging his arms in a carefree manner.
"And no, you musn't pay me back. I know of all your tricks, my liege."
"Ugh you and that nickname," you huffed, rolling your eyes as he chuckled in response.
"Or, if you are really that desperate to pay me back I suppose you could. But of course, I'll take no such thing as money."
You raised an eyebrow,"uh huh? And what would that be."
Realising that he stopped walking, you looked back to wait for his response.
"Another outing--wherever you'd like to go," his usual collected expression with a dash of cheekiness was replaced with something akin to nervousness, maybe even a bit bashful.
You knew exactly what he meant but decided to tease him a little.
"Well that's easy! I'd love to go out again, maybe the others would like to see the cafe too."
At this time, your back was to him to hide a little grin that was playing on your lips.
"What I meant was! You see," you heard him clear his throat. "I wanted to go out with you again, Y/N. Without--Chongyun and Xiangling..."
"I don't mean to exclude them forever of course, what I meant was- wait, why are you laughing?"
"Oh Xingqiu," you wiped a tear from the corner of your eye, heaving in a breath. "I was just teasing~ I'd love to go out together sometimes, just us two."
"Yes, yes that would be nice my liege," a smile spread across his face, giving you a mock little bow.
"No no, please, raise your head my loyal subject," you waved your hand like royalty, which elicited giggles out of the both of you.
As you watched him walk away, a flutter in your heart was a telltale sign that you were excited to see this friendship, perhaps, bloom into something a little more.

Tumblr media
Lee Donghyuck was a selfish being. He was someone that joined the student council for the sake of being able to bend the rules, someone that had a way with words that managed to manipulate people into doing things for his convenience. And someone that never felt bad about guilt tripping somebody for his own gain. Even if that somebody was you.
lee donghyuck 11:15am -r u coming for my match later-
You rolled your eyes, sinking further down in your seat as you typed out a reply with one hand, hiding your phone under the table as you nodded along with whatever your teacher was saying.
11:15am -you've asked me this already im trying to pay attention-
You glanced over at Donghyuck's seat at the other end of the classroom, the teachers having separated your desks at the start of the term since the both of you were always distracted if you were seated near each other. Not that you weren’t still distracted when he was all the way at the other side of the classroom, clearly.
He was sitting with his body angled towards you, leaning against the wall with his head supported by his elbow on the table, his hair mussed up as he kept his gaze on the board while typing his reply to you.
lee donghyuck 11:16am - wtv - 11:16am - was just checking if u rmb... - 11:16am - anyway r u buying me flowers-
You cast a glance at him, seeing that his position had shifted now as he hunched over his desk, fiddling with his tie. Looking over to you, he'd met your gaze, quirking his eyebrows ever so quickly as he gestured discreetly at his phone, a small smirk on his face.
11:16am -it's not like its a choir performance... i see u play all the time-
You swore you'd heard Donghyuck stop himself from whining, smiling sweetly at your teacher before he typed his reply to you.
lee donghyuck 11:17am - but jisung said u were getting him flowers!! >:( -
You pressed your lips firmly together in your attempt to suppress your smile, twirling your pen with one hand.
11:17am - 1. thats bc jisung is my brother 11:17am -2. the flowers are from my mom bc its his first game.- 11:17am -from what i know, u r both not my brother n not playing ur first game = no flowers for u -
lee donghyuck 11:17am - :(!!!!! -
11:18am - what time do you have to leave? -
lee donghyuck 11:18am – in 2 minutes -
11:18am - ok have a good practice see u later -
You watched out of boredom as he'd already begun to pack his things, blatantly disregarding that the lesson was still going on (you were sure he'd ask you for the notes the following week).
"Lee Donghyuck, you need to be dismissed, am I right?" your head turned sharply towards your teacher as her voice raised slightly. She never did try to hide her annoyance at Donghyuck having to skip lessons all the time because of volleyball matches or student council events.
Donghyuck looked up from his bag, nodding with a smile as he zipped it up, slinging it over his shoulder. It didn’t help the teacher that Donghyuck simply loved to piss her off.
"Alright, go," she waved him off.
Bending down to hook his shoe bag and water bottle on his finger, Donghyuck turned to you to nod his head goodbye before he'd strolled leisurely out of the class.
===
You'd retrieved the (awfully large) bouquet of flowers from your locker after school ended before heading to Donghyuck's volleyball match, having hitched a ride with Chenle so you could split the cab fare, despite Chenle's insistence that he could have paid for the both of you.
"Is that for Jisung?"
You gestured with your gaze towards the bag he was holding in his hand, earning a nod from him. Looking closer, you realised that it was a cup of Jisung's ever-so-specific drink order from the bubble tea shop near your school.
"He seemed pretty nervous for today, thought it'd be nice to get him something small as a reward."
The corner of your lips lifted into a smirk, a huff of amusement leaving you, "are you sure it won't be diluted by the end of the game?"
Chenle's eyes widened, glancing between you and the drink as his lips parted, making you shake your head, ruffling his hair affectionately.
"Don't worry, Jisung will probably still drink it anyway," you laughed.
"Did you get those for Donghyuck, too?" He nodded with his head towards the bag you were holding.
You raised an eyebrow, following his gaze to realise he was gesturing to your bag containing Jisung's bouquet, almost forgetting you were carrying it.
You shook your head.
"Nope, my mom got these for Jisung..." you trailed off, your mind wandering back to how Donghyuck was pestering you to get flowers for him, a strange feeling of guilt creeping up on you if you were to decide not to get him anything.
Staring out of the car window, you tried to recall how much spending money you had left for the rest of the week.
"Chenle, do you remember if they have a florist near the venue?"
You wanted to scoff at yourself. What was the special occasion anyway?
It was just any other one of Donghyuck’s matches, yet you were only feeling extremely guilty now about not buying him flowers of all things to show your support.
Chenle's lips pursed, shaking his head before taking his phone and keying in something.
"Oh! There is! Says here that it's at the mall next to the stadium," your eyes widened, eyebrows furrowing slightly as you tried to read the details on the shop location on his phone.
Chenle narrowed his eyes at you, "are you gonna get something for Donghyuck?"
You scoffed at the way he was smiling at you, waving him off, "I'll see if it's within my budget."
Finding the florist took you and Chenle long enough, the dainty shop having been tucked away at a far end of the mall, but picking out a flower took even longer.
"What about this one?" Chenle pointed at a similar bouquet as to what you had for Jisung, a pretty bouquet of yellow and pink tulips.
"Too expensive," you whispered just soft enough that the shop owner wouldn't hear, skimming over the bouquet and letting your gaze travel towards the bright sunflower bouquets.
"And plus, Donghyuck likes sunflowers."
"This one?" you asked Chenle, pointing at a small simple bouquet of a sunflower and baby's breath.
Chenle let out a hum in approval, "oh, this is cute, yeah, sure you should get this!" he told you, nodding.
You bid the thirty-over dollars in your wallet goodbye, mentally cursing Donghyuck for managing to guilt trip you into buying flowers for him.
Grabbing the bouquet and shoving it into the same bag as Jisung's before practically jogging to the venue with Chenle, the both of you running late from spending so long at the mall.
Struggling to keep up with Chenle, you saw him turn to you, waving his phone, "Jeno says they saved a seat for us!"
You nodded, already out of breath as you let him lead you into the stands closer to where your school's team would be seated, spotting them doing warm-ups at the bleachers.
Greeting Donghyuck’s friends, you’d seated yourself in between Chenle and Renjun, stretching your neck to look over the banners that the girls seated in front of you were holding, trying to find Donghyuck in the crowd of black volleyball jerseys.
Jisung seemed to have spotted you, calling the said boy and pointing at your direction. Looking up in confusion, Donghyuck’s eyes searched the crowd before spotting you and his friends, the group of you waving enthusiastically (not to mention the girls in front of you as well who had immediately squealed when Donghyuck had smiled in their direction).
Walking over to Jisung, the two had partnered each other for warm-ups, Donghyuck starting to get into his more serious mood as he would during his games.
“Damn, look at Donghyuck. He’s just stretching but he looks so good,” your eyes widened when you heard the girl in front of you lean over to divulge to her friend.
Chenle turned to you with raised eyebrows, not-so-secretly pointing at the girl with an expectant look on his face.
“What?” You scoffed.
“You’ve got some competitors,” he told you, erupting into a burst of laughter causing the girls to turn around, eyeing Chenle in shock.
Nodding apologetically to them, (though you weren’t all that sorry), you leant over to Chenle slightly and dropped your voice to a murmur.
“They can have him. I’m sure his ego would explode.”
Renjun turned to you, seemingly interested in your conversation.
“What are you guys talking about?”
Chenle butt in quickly, “I’m telling Y/N to claim her man!”
Your eyes widened, shooting Chenle a warning glare.
Renjun’s lips formed a thoughtful pout, “Donghyuck?”
You scoffed, “I don’t know what you guys are talking about, Donghyuck and I are just friends.”
You grimaced at the thought of you and Donghyuck ever dating, the thought itself enough to make your insides stir.
Was it supposed to do that? Maybe you were having indigestion.
Chenle made a face, trying hard but not doing a very good job to hide his scepticism, seeming to disagree with you.
“Ouch, hope Donghyuck never has to hear that,” Renjun laughed, seeming to distrust your words as well.
Rolling your eyes, you kicked the bag of flowers under your seat, not wishing to see them and let your thoughts wander even more.
Shaking your head, you’d tried to focus on the game as much as you could despite the incessant commentary coming from in front of you of ‘oh Donghyuck’s this, Donghyuck’s that’. As much as you were glad that he had people who liked him instead of hating him, you couldn’t help but wish you could shield Donghyuck from their view, their drooling over him growing distracting as time passed.
You tried your best, for Donghyuck’s sake, to look past your annoyance and focus on the game, even though you couldn’t say you knew what was happening, having not paid much attention when Donghyuck had tried explaining the different roles of his team members to you on countless occasions.
To you, you would cheer when the girls sitting in front of you cheered. That was safest.
Aside from cheering, you would never fail to return the little proud smile Donghyuck would give you after a shot he was particularly proud of, something inside of you feeling heavy with the memory of Renjun and Chenle’s previous words, wondering if it was normal to feel so enamoured when you were looking at your friend smile at you from the court like that.
You were starting to grow anxious as the game neared its end, your leg starting to bounce as you saw the girls in front of you starting to prepare their gifts, reminding you that you had a gift for Donghyuck too.
You wanted to scoff at yourself. You weren’t sure where all your anxiousness was coming from. It wasn’t as if you guys weren’t close. You’d given him plenty of gifts, so what made the flowers so different?
Friends give each other flowers all the time. Yeah, whatever, maybe that’s just my love language, you assured yourself, despite knowing very well that it wasn’t true.
Startling in your seat when you heard the crowd erupt in cheers, you tore your gaze away from the girls in front of you, cursing inwardly when you realised the game had ended and you’d basically missed the final sequence.
“Did you see that?” Chenle turned excitedly to you, beaming.
Laughing nervously, you nodded, surprised he couldn’t tell you were lying with how blatant you were being about it.
“Now we wait,” you heard Renjun sigh, leaning back in his seat with his hands in his lap just as the girls in front of you had stood up, practically running downstairs to head over to the lobby to wait for Donghyuck.
“I wish they could just mail them to his house or something,” you yawned, bending over to pull the bag of flowers out from underneath your seat.
Peeping in the box to check if any of the flowers were damaged, you nodded in satisfaction when you found that they were all still in good condition.
“I can’t wait, I’ve gotta go meet my girlfriend,” Jeno confessed, a sheepish smile on his face, warranting much teasing from the boys.
“I’m hitching a ride with him, what about you Renjun?” Jaemin added, slinging his bag over his shoulder, the two of them giving Renjun an expectant look.
Renjun looked almost contemplative, casting Chenle a glance before shaking his head, “nah, you guys go ahead, I can wait with them.”
You walked with them along to the entrance of the venue, gripping the bag in your hands tightly, switching between holding Jisung’s bouquet in your hands and shoving it into the bag together with Donghyuck’s in your indecision.
You watched as Chenle took a sip of the drink he bought for Jisung, an impressed pout on his lips as he nodded in approval.
“Wow, I should give this place a good review, it still tastes pretty good even after all the waiting.”
You shook your head with a huff, not being able to help the smile from your face, yet at the same time you were thankful Chenle was so calm while waiting, serving to help you calm your nerves as well.
Renjun, however, was the opposite. Leaning against the wall you stood at, he shook his fringe away from his eyes as he let out a loud sigh, his features pinched in annoyance.
“What’s taking him so long?!”
You laughed, “they’re probably still taking group pictures.”
You could already imagine it, the way Donghyuck would pose ridiculously with his teammates, anticipating the shots he would show you later on.
You tried to ignore the way the girls who had sat in front of you were now anxiously fixing their hair while waiting for Donghyuck, practically squealing in their giddy anticipation.
Soon enough, (and thankfully before Chenle could drink too much of Jisung’s drink), you’d watched the double doors open, Donghyuck’s teammates walking out, your eyes widening when you saw who was next to him.
Chenle had summoned Jisung over quickly, giving you a chance to calm down your racing heart that Hyunjin and Donghyuck were beginning to approach Renjun.
Your excitement was short-lived, the girls having ambushed him before he could reach Renjun, holding out their small presents for him.
“Donghyuck you were so cool today! You played so well!”
“Yeah! You look really cool when you play!” You heard another girl chime in.
Suppressing your feelings of annoyance, you decided to ignore them for the time being, tuning out their words as you tried to focus on your task at hand.
“Here,” you shoved the flowers to Jisung, his eyes wide as he sipped on the drink Chenle got him, a surprised smile making its way on his face.
“You bought these?” He mumbled through his mouthful of tapioca pearls, shaking his head to arrange his hair, though it didn’t do much since it was already messy from playing, sticking out at strange places.
Rolling your eyes, you ignored the way Donghyuck was tugging on your hand, asking for your attention.
“No, they’re from mom,” you shook your head, “anyway, are you two going out after this?”
Chenle gave you a pleading smile, making you scrunch your nose up with a smile. You were never one to say no to Chenle.
“Alright, go, just remember to tell mom you’ll be late, okay?” You reminded, watching as Jisung’s mouth fell agape in realisation, nodding appreciatively at you before he started to walk off with Chenle.
Trying to keep your tone steady, you’d finally turned around to face Renjun, Hyunjin and Donghyuck.
Your breath hitched at the sight of Hyunjin, whose stoic expression changed to a smile to greet you, bringing a hand up to wave at you.
“Hey,” he huffed.
“Hi,” you cursed yourself at how breathless you sounded, raising your hand despite Donghyuck’s fingers gripping tightly on the sleeve of your school sweater.
You missed the offence in Donghyuck’s glare, said boy unable to believe that you were paying more attention to Hyunjin than you were to him at the moment.
Like you said, Donghyuck was selfish, and he couldn’t stand the fact that Hyunjin was getting more attention from you than he was.
What was this, a smiling contest?
Donghyuck wanted to scoff, tightening his grip on your sleeve, though it didn’t seem to bother you, your mood seeming to have lifted just from seeing Hyunjin.
Renjun seemed to have sensed Donghyuck’s tension, trying his best as he tried to divert your attention back to Donghyuck, trying to signal to Hyunjin that it would be better to leave the two of you alone.
“Hey, yeah so you were telling me about that thing just now?” Renjun interrupted whatever strange exchange you were having with Hyunjin.
His sudden question made Hyunjin’s eyebrows lower in confusion, earning a desperate look from Renjun (which you’d missed while you were busy looking at the pretty earrings Hyunjin was wearing).
Donghyuck caught on quickly to Renjun’s intentions, the latter discreetly waving his hand in a silent plead for him to go ahead.
“Right, okay, we’ll be off now. Bye!” Donghyuck beamed, his grip moving to your wrist before pulling you out of the venue.
“Why’d you leave so quick? I was having a great time,” you scoffed, stumbling once he’d let you go, regaining your balance ungracefully, dropping the bag of flowers with a gasp.
Donghyuck rolled his eyes, straightening out his jersey as if you’d gotten it messed up when he’d dragged you out from the venue.
“Yeah, I could tell. I could see your heart eyes for Hyunjin from a mile away,” he scoffed, “actually, now that I’m thinking about it...” he helped you up, looking elsewhere as he pretended to be upset at you.
You dusted off the bag, flinching away when Donghyuck had turned abruptly to face you.
“Do you just come for my games as an excuse to drool over Hyunjin?”
You grit your teeth, huffing as you shoved the bag containing his bouquet towards him, hitting him in the chest with your fist as you did so. Letting out a dramatic whine in feigned hurt, his eyes widened at the sight of the bag, his hand wrapping around yours and tugging the bag out of your grip.
“What’s this? For me?” His smile grew, holding his shoe bag between his elbow and his waist, opening the bag and pulling out the bouquet with a slow gasp, his expression abruptly dropping, “please tell me these weren’t from your mom.”
You groaned, walking ahead of him, “they weren’t. I bought them.”
Donghyuck’s lips pressed against each other firmly, poorly concealing his smile, taking his phone out and holding it out as if about to take a selfie, beckoning you over with the bouquet.
“Come here, I need evidence that this happened.”
You tried to maintain your glare, though you couldn’t help the smile from your face, reaching over to take his shoe bag and water bottle from him, carrying it behind your back so it wasn’t visible in the picture. Taking the picture quickly, Donghyuck smiled at his handiwork.
“You’re an ass, you know that? I spent the rest of my week’s allowance on your stupid flowers,” you laughed, swinging his shoe bag as you walked, turning to him with a smile, not being able to stay annoyed at him with how happy he looked.
Maybe you weren’t so upset about spending your money on the flowers anymore.
Donghyuck brought the flowers beneath his nose, inhaling and letting out a sigh of contentment, glancing at you before looking back down, pulling his phone out in his attempt to appear as nonchalant as possible.
“Thanks,” he murmured.
“Whatever. You played really well today,” you told him, “well, not that I understood what was happening during the game, but the girls just now seemed to have thought so too,” you shrugged, turning to him with a playful grin on your face.
Clearing your throat, you tried your best impression of the girls that had approached him just now, “oh Donghyuck! You’re so cool when you play! You look so hot when you’re serious!”
Donghyuck scoffed, trying to hide his blush by pretending to act busy booking a car for the both of you.
“They never said that second part,” he scoffed.
You shrugged, “yeah, well you didn’t hear them during the game. I never knew till now that you had so many girls thirsting over you,” you crouched down next to him, tired from standing.
“Yeah, like how you thirst over Hyunjin?” He shot back, “anyway, the car’s coming in 5 minutes.”
“Okay,” you acknowledged, “and by the way, I don’t thirst over Hyunjin.”
Donghyuck made an obnoxious sound to imitate you, folding his arms before he used his knee to nudge you, making you lose your balance and fall onto your bum.
“Yeah, sure,” he drawled, a smug smirk on his face.
The both of you sat in a fatigued silence until the car had arrived, Donghyuck having entered before you, setting the flowers carefully on his lap, fiddling with the packaging of the bouquet.
You watched as he brought his phone up to check the time, swiping accidentally and revealing his reminders, one of them being ’29 days to my birthday!’ not being able to help the smile from your face.
“Are you having a party this year?” You asked, seeing him nod, yawning loudly as he shoved his phone back into his pocket, making you cast a worried glance towards the driver to see if Donghyuck’s volume had annoyed him.
“Yeah, on the day itself. It’s a Sunday. Can you make it?” You frowned.
“I was supposed to go visit my grandma that week, but I have to check with you again,” you told him, seeing his features pull into a frown.
“Can grandma wait a few days more?” He sulked, and you turned your gaze away from the window to look at him in both disbelief and amusement, almost knowing he would have said that.
You saw him leaning closer to rest his head on your shoulder, pulling his phone back out to change the subject, not wishing to let himself feel upset at the thought that you might not be able to make it for his birthday party.
“Look, I came out really well in the pictures we took just now,” Donghyuck showed you the group picture of his volleyball team, making you zoom into where he was, conveniently standing next to Hyunjin.
Donghyuck seemed to have realised this, swiping the picture so you were only able to see him in the photo, making you laugh, shoving his phone away.
“Have you figured out what you wanted for your birthday?” You asked, trying to turn your head in an attempt to see his face better but not doing a very good job, giving up and settling on looking at his fingers which were touching the sunflower petals gently.
Donghyuck thought off of the top of his head, wanting to slap himself when his first thought was that he’d wanted a kiss from you. He was definitely spending too much time with Jaemin.
“No, I’m not sure yet,” he yawned, snuggling more into you, and you’d relaxed your shoulder in your hopes to make him feel more comfortable.
You nodded, “think about it, okay? Let me know so I can get it for you.”
You were thankful that you were already reaching your house, since Donghyuck was already beginning to doze off after a short period of silence, his head slowly sliding down your shoulder before he would jerk back awake and resume his previous position.
Eventually, he’d pulled his head away from your shoulder, bringing his hand up to push his hair away from his forehead haphazardly.
“I’m so tired.”
“Maybe you should try to sleep early today, you don’t have to wake up early tomorrow, do you?”
He sighed, pausing before groaning, possibly with more anguish than his sigh, “I do. I’ve got some stupid student council thing tomorrow that I’ve got to be in school early for.”
You gave him your best look of pity, “on a Saturday?”
He nodded gravely, “we’re hosting the student council members from other schools too. I wouldn’t go if I had a choice but they’re giving me credits for attending, and you and I both know I need all the credits I can get,” he sighed, sinking down in his seat.
Donghyuck noticed how you’d begun to gather your things, a part of him wishing he hadn’t fallen asleep so he could’ve talked to you more.
Feeling the car start to slow down, he’d given you a tired smile, “bye.”
You nodded, waving him goodbye before exiting the car.
===
The next time you’d met Donghyuck was during lunch in school the next Monday, you were seated with your friends at your usual table in the cafeteria, away from the crowd so it wouldn’t feel stuffy but also in a position where you would have a direct view of almost everyone in the cafeteria.
“Can you come for my finals match?” was the first thing he’d asked you upon squeezing himself next to you on the bench, your eyes falling onto his absence of his badge above his breast pocket.
“Name tag,” you reminded out of habit, seeing him glance down at his chest before fumbling in his pocket to pull out his name tag, pinning it onto his shirt with haste.
“It’s next week,” he told you, “on a Friday,” he added as an afterthought.
You nodded, “I don’t think I have anything planned that day, for now.”
“Okay, great. Text you later,” he beamed, about to leave when you’d grabbed his wrist before he could.
“Are you not eating?”
Donghyuck paused to process what you were asking, momentarily thrown off by your hand on his forearm, not to mention the way he’d almost let his heart flutter at your concern, shaking his head a little belatedly.
“No, yeah. I’m eating with the dnyl guys,” you nodded slowly, letting go of his arm before waving him off.
“Bye,” he left quickly, strangely excited after receiving the news that you would be able to go for his match, especially since it was his final match for your national competition among the different schools.
Jogging over to the empty classroom he’d opened for the dnyl club to meet, he’d barged into the class, shocking Renjun with his loud entrance.
“Oh my God, I thought you were a teacher,” his hand flew to cover his chest where his heart was, glaring at Donghyuck.
The boy remained unapologetic, taking a seat at one of the tables they’d pushed together to form a misshapen circle.
Pulling his phone from his pocket, he’d set it on the table.
“So, did you ask them about your match?” Jaemin asked, tearing open the packaging of his bun.
“Yep,” Donghyuck smiled.
“Are you referring to Y/N?” Jeno asked, setting his phone down when it was still open on one of his battleground rounds, his interests clearly not being in his match anymore.
“Yeah,” Donghyuck murmured, reaching over to grab a bun from the bag on Jaemin’s table.
“How’s things going with her?” Jeno continued, making Donghyuck shrug, suddenly focused on getting the packet of bread open,
“What do you mean?”
Donghyuck sighed, at the difficulty of tearing the packaging open or at the topic, he wasn’t too sure.
“You know, didn’t you have this whole plan to win her over by your birthday?” Jaemin chimed in, sensing Jeno’s confusion.
Renjun eyed Donghyuck carefully as he saw his phone light up with notifications, Donghyuck glancing at his phone briefly before looking away almost in disappointment.
“Who’s texting you?” Renjun murmured, earning confused looks from Jeno and Jaemin for changing the topic so quickly.
Donghyuck managed to tear an opening in the packet with his teeth, taking a bite out of his bun, “oh, this girl I met on Saturday that was helping out at the student council event.”
“Oh, do you guys have to do like a project together or something?” Renjun asked, though he knew better than to think Donghyuck actually did things for the student council.
Donghyuck shook his head.
“Nope, we’re just like..talking. She’s pretty nice, and like, fun I guess. She’s pretty popular too” he shrugged.
Jaemin’s mouth fell open, looking almost offended, “what about Y/N?”
Donghyuck shrugged, “what about her?”
Jeno gave Renjun a surprised look, the both of them glancing back at Jaemin quickly to see what Jaemin would respond with.
The latter scoffed, not seeming to understand Donghyuck’s logic this time.
“Oh, well, maybe because if I were you and I really liked someone, I wouldn’t be hitting on other girls?”
Donghyuck rolled his eyes.
“I’m not...hitting on her, we’re just talking, that’s all there is to it.”
Renjun let out a low whistle, the discomfort of the tension between Jaemin and Donghyuck feeling heavy in the room.
“Whatever you say, man.”
“Look, I do like Y/N. I really really do. But how am I supposed to know if things are gonna work in my favour in the end? I mean, I know I can try but, I’m putting myself up to get hurt too, you know?”
Once again, Donghyuck proved that he was selfish, afraid to wear his heart on his sleeve like how Renjun did. Protecting it was first priority, especially when he still wasn’t clear on how you felt.
Jeno pursed his lips, nodding slowly, huffing.
“Well, I guess that’s what we’re here for. Think about it, you’re the only one out of the four of us that doesn’t have a girlfriend yet. If anything, our advice would be for your benefit, not the other way around.”
Donghyuck wanted to groan. He wanted to believe them, he really did. But a part of him couldn’t shake the way even Hyunjin seemed to have more odds in winning you over than he did, the feeling of fighting a losing battle.
But ultimately, Donghyuck nodded, dismissing the topic, “yeah, whatever. I don’t need love, right? That’s the whole reason Harvey made me join this stupid club anyway.”
In other words, the only reason why Donghyuck joined the club was because he realised that seeing your stupid smile went from feeling familiar to feeling unfamiliar, and it was the kind of unfamiliar that Donghyuck knew was akin to the heart-pounding, time- slowing love that movie protagonists always went on about.
And he figured he’d might as well surround himself with stories of unfortunate love lives, because he knew his was screwed.
The boys exchanged knowing looks with each other, choosing to brush the topic off for Donghyuck’s sake.
“So, how’s preparation for your match been going?”
===
“I still can’t believe mom asked you to tag along,” you huffed, pushing the shopping cart with your body as you strolled past the cereal aisle, Jisung dumping several boxes into the cart.
“Yeah, well, it’s not like I wanted to spend my night getting groceries with the both of you,” he glanced at the list on his phone your mom had sent him.
Donghyuck was ahead of the both of you, looking at the party items in the other aisle.
“Why’s he buying his birthday stuff so early, anyway?” Jisung asked, making you smile.
“He’s excited. It’s best to leave him be.” You glanced down at Donghyuck’s phone, reading the list and checking off the items you already had.
“How many people are you planning on hosting?” You called, getting Donghyuck’s attention successfully as you strolled over towards where he was in the supermarket.
Donghyuck hummed, holding a long bag of plastic cups in his hand as he did his mental calculations.
“Well, there’s the volleyball team, there’s some people from the student council, the guys and their girlfriends...some classmates—”
You pulled out another bag of cups, handing it over to Donghyuck, “just get two to be safe.”
“Does that mean I get to drink too?” Jisung asked, his eyebrows raising.
You shot him a look, making him raise his hands in surrender.
“Forget I asked.”
“So...if your volleyball team’s going, does that mean Hyunjin’s going too?” You asked, already anticipating Donghyuck’s reaction, not being able to help your giggle when you saw him look at you blankly.
“If you keep this up, it’s gonna be the volleyball team minus Hyunjin.”
You scoffed, “hey, I’ve gotta have something to look forward to, right?”
Donghyuck pulled the end of the shopping cart towards another section, “is it not enough to look forward to the fact that it’s a celebration of my entering into this world?”
Rolling your eyes, you looked back at the list of items on Donghyuck’s phone, about to retort with something witty when you saw an unfamiliar contact appear on the phone, frowning before reluctantly holding the phone out for Donghyuck to take. Mina?
“Someone’s calling you,” you told him, Jisung bending over to read the contact name before giving you a confused look, expecting you to know who they were.
There was a sinking feeling in you when you saw the way Donghyuck’s demeanour had changed upon reading the contact, taking the phone from you roughly and answering it, the tone of his ‘hello’ already making you question just who this person was that Donghyuck was so quick to answer.
“Hey," he murmured, smiling at something whoever it was on the phone was saying to him.
"Who is it?" Jisung whispered, making you shrug.
"How would I know?" you shrugged, trying to listen in on the conversation but not being very successful.
"Yeah, no I'm alright to talk," you heard him say, "nothing, I'm just out with my friends."
You pretended to be occupied with the items in the shopping cart, oblivious to the way Jisung was eyeing the both of you.
"Yeah, actually it's for my birthday party. Do you wanna come? It's on the 6th," he murmured, fiddling with the disposable plates he'd just picked up.
Was he blushing? You couldn't believe the feelings of annoyance that were building in you at the sight of him.
Since when was Lee Donghyuck so shy talking to his friends on the phone?
You scoffed, getting Donghyuck's attention unintentionally, the boy looking at you expectantly. You chose to ignore his look, much to Jisung's shock.
Jisung whipped his phone out discreetly, deciding that desperate times called for desperate measures.
7:08pm -do u know anything abt this person called mina?-
chenle 7:08pm -jeno says its the girl donghyuck's talking to-
7:08pm -but doesnt he like y/n?-
chenle 7:08pm -yeah he does but jeno says hes being a wuss... n personally i think y/n's in denial too-
7:08pm - sure seems like it.. donghyuck's on a phonecall with her now n y/n looks more than pissed-
chenle 7:09pm -maybe u shld ask y/n abt it later n see what she says-
Shoving his phone back into his pocket, Jisung watched silently as Donghyuck ended his phone call, his smile lingering on his face a little too long for your liking.
"Who was that?" you asked, hoping the edge in your voice wasn't too obvious.
Unfortunately, it was, and Donghyuck couldn't help but let his smile grow at the thought of you possibly being jealous that he was talking to her.
"Oh, just this girl I've been talking to. Met her at the student council event that day."
You scrunched up your nose, letting out a small sigh, "cool...so she's going for your party too?"
Donghyuck narrowed his eyes at you, a small smirk playing at his lips.
"Uh-huh. Why? Is there an issue?" he drawled, leaning over the side of the trolley to bring his face closer to yours.
Yes, there was an issue.
Although Donghyuck may be unapologetically selfish at times, you, for one, were not. You didn't think it was very supportive of you to be so possessive over Donghyuck. I mean, it's a good thing that he's meeting people, isn't it? It's not like we're dating, there's nothing to be jealous about.
"No issue," you rolled your eyes, pushing the cart past him to head to the cashier.
"What's up with her?" Donghyuck laughed, hoping Jisung would give him some insight on your feelings.
Jisung gave Donghyuck a look of sheer disbelief.
"What's up with you!" Jisung whispered harshly, confused as to what Donghyuck's intentions were.
"Oh, so you're gonna shit on me for it too?"
Jisung gave him a look, "not without reason.”
"Look, trust me. I got it covered. The last thing I would want is to fight with Y/N, alright?"
Jisung glanced at you while you sulkily scanned your items at a self-checkout register, directing his gaze back to Donghyuck with a sigh.
"I know, just....be careful."
Later on that night, (or morning), Jisung had gone downstairs to grab a snack from the fridge, spotting you lounging on the sofa, practically glaring at the television.
"What's up?" Jisung's voice snapped you out of your annoyed state, after being told that this Mina girl he was talking to was not only awfully pretty and sporty by your friends who knew her, but that her personality meshed well with Donghyuck's.
"Nothing," you sighed, seeing Jisung raise his eyebrows, thinking back to what Chenle had told him and figuring now would be a good time to ask you.
"Are you sure? You looked kind of upset since Donghyuck picked up that call."
Your eyes widened, not realising your feelings had been so obvious. Shrugging, you'd fiddled with your phone.
"What are you trying to say?"
Jisung averted his gaze, sitting on the sofa next to you, hugging one of his knees to his chest.
"Do you like Donghyuck?"
You scoffed, almost choking on your saliva, looking at him with wide eyes. Opening your mouth, you closed it back again for lack of a good response.
"'Cause....you know, it's kind of obvious that he likes you.”
You shook your head, huffing in amusement, "I don't know what you're talking about."
"No, like really. The volleyball guys all think so, and so do his dnyl guys," you furrowed your eyebrows.
"Volleyball guys? So Hyunjin knows this too?" you asked, wondering how ridiculous it would've seemed that you were so smiley towards him even when Donghyuck was right there. That is, if what Jisung was saying was correct.
Jisung rolled his eyes.
"Yes, I'm pretty sure he knows."
You gasped lightly, "how many people even know about this? Okay, but, whatever that’s kind of beside the point. What makes you so sure?"
Jisung contemplated telling you about just how much he mentions you or asks about you in their conversations, or how Donghyuck was visibly more affectionate whenever you were involved. Even how Donghyuck had been trying different ways to get your attention, particularly through inviting you to his games (but that didn't seem to be working out with how little you paid attention during the last one).
Eventually, he figured it would be better if he didn't put ideas in your head, deeming it better that you figure it out on your own.
"I'm just sure, okay? Maybe you should try just observing and seeing how much he does for you.”
Jisung shrugged, getting up from the sofa, "maybe then you'll realise you like him too," he snickered, running up the stairs before you could respond.
You rolled your eyes, going back to glaring at the television. Except this time, your gaze kept wandering to your phone. Curse Jisung for making you curious.
Almost as if on cue, you’d received a text from Donghyuck.
lee donghyuck 12:34am -u awake?-
You had a few options in your head. Firstly, to ignore him and pretend you were asleep. Secondly, to reply him and bring up what Jisung had said as a joke. Thirdly, to just act like everything was normal yet not normal and that you weren’t totally scared that he was going to fall in love with Mina.
The temptation to be selfish was there, of course, to just ignore the situation for the sake of your sanity and leave Donghyuck hanging. But you knew that your worry for him overrode all sorts of selfishness you could possibly give in to.
For now, you’d chosen option three.
12:35am -yeah, what’s up?-
lee donghyuck 12:35am -can I call you?-
You didn’t respond, choosing to find his contact on your own and dial his number.
“Hey,” you sighed, hearing muffled sounds on his side before a small grunt and a thud, almost being able to picture Donghyuck
lying on his bed and talking to you, something about the mental image feeling endearing.
“Hey.”
“What happened?” You asked, the question catching Donghyuck off-guard.
Despite the countless number of times you’d called each other in the night like this, you’d never asked why, frankly not deeming it to be anything other than Donghyuck’s or your boredom. Only now, you were beginning to wonder if there were more to unfold behind these phone calls, and you were hoping Donghyuck would give you the answers.
“Nothing, nothing happened, I just...like, you know...couldn’t sleep...and stuff.”
You huffed, “you never sleep this early.”
Donghyuck sighed, not knowing what came over him when he’d said his next words.
“Do you want me to say I wanted to hear your voice for a while?”
You fell silent, expecting to hear him follow up with a ‘kidding’ or a ‘because that isn’t why I called’, yourself growing anxious the more you didn’t hear anything else from him.
Shifting on the sofa, you’d lay down and put Donghyuck on speaker, setting your phone next to your head.
“Hello?” You heard him murmur, making you clear your throat.
“Have you decided on what you wanted for your birthday?” You changed the subject quickly, trying to steady the beating of your heart.
You heard him huff, his voice sounding tired.
“Yeah. I decided that...” Donghyuck caught himself before he could slip up like before, shaking his head quickly, “I want a plant.”
Your eyebrows furrowed.
“A plant?”
“Yeah, like get me those, I don’t know like a plant I can take care of or something,” he panicked, “with a flower, like an orchid or something.”
You frowned, nodding slowly as you tried to understand his sudden request. Meanwhile, Donghyuck couldn’t help the regret that washed over him that he’d wasted his birthday wish like that.
“Okay, yeah. I’m feeling better now, goodnight.”
Donghyuck hung up quickly, kicking his blanket in frustration, rolling over and burying his face into the pillow.
Got it covered? Please.
===
After much observation, you were starting to realise that Donghyuck meant many things to you, and you didn’t like how it took you a situation like this to figure it out.
Firstly, with all his match preparations, Donghyuck was kept busy, but that didn’t mean that you wouldn’t receive all sorts of updates on him from Jisung at home. You were starting to wonder if he was a part of Donghyuck’s fan club as well.
You were having your science lesson in the lab, Donghyuck being your lab partner (fortunately and unfortunately for you), the said boy looking more tired today than ever.
“Are you alright? You look like shit,” you offered, pretending to be focused on removing your test tube from your beaker.
“Feel like it too,” he brought his hand up to run it through his hair, “stayed up late last night to help Mina with this proposal she had to write up.”
You scoffed, “you? Help her?”
In your annoyance, you’d applied too much force on your tweezers, practically cutting your specimen before you could place it down.
Donghyuck smiled, glancing at your annoyed expression after what happened to your leaf.
“Yeah, what’s so shocking about that? I kind of owed her.”
You stopped yourself from responding, deciding you shouldn’t be too bitter about their relationship. Shrugging, you shook your head in dismissal.
“Nothing. I guess it’s nice that you guys can help each other out.”
Donghyuck’s lips formed a surprised pout, his eyebrows raising slightly, not having expected you to be so gracious about it.
“So, uh...have you told your grandma to postpone your visit?” He brought up later on when you were on your way back to class.
You nodded, “yeah, I’m visiting her this weekend instead.”
Donghyuck couldn’t help the smile from his face, looking elsewhere as he relished in the way the sun shone in through the corridors, the warmth mirroring what he’d felt building in his chest.
“Nice.”
You felt it too. The way his smile was like that of the sun rays he enjoyed so much, how it made you feel scared. Scared that you were so used to seeing him smile like that until now.
You looked away quickly, hugging your books closer to your chest, accidentally brushing your finger against the paper, hissing when you’d felt a sting.
Pulling your hand away from your books, you’d groaned at the sight of blood on your finger, making Donghyuck turn to you with wide eyes, his gaze falling onto your source of distress.
The displeased sound that had left Donghyuck was even more obvious to you now, the way he’d gone to grab your wrist when you brought your hand to your mouth in your attempt to stop the bleeding.
“You should be more careful,” he chided, making you nudge his arm away, his concern putting you on the spot even more now that you were getting confused over your feelings towards him.
“It’s fine, it’s just a small paper cut.”
Donghyuck furrowed his eyebrows, leading you back into the classroom and sitting you down on your seat, scuffling over to his desk and rummaging through his bag, pulling out a small pouch and making his way back to you.
“I got these from Jaemin,” he grinned, squatting next to your desk as you turned to face him, watching closely as he pulled out a bright coloured, kid’s band-aid with Pororo the penguin printed on it.
You lightly thumped him on the head, uncomfortable with the stares you were getting from the people sitting around you, wondering if they too thought that Donghyuck was interested in you. A part of you wishing now that Jisung hadn’t shed light on Donghyuck’s (possible) feelings for the sake of your sanity.
“You’re being so dramatic, I don’t need a band-aid.”
Donghyuck sucked in a sharp breath, his expression stern and unwavering, “shut up, just hold still.”
He’d opened the band-aid, wrapping it carefully around your cut, leaning back with a satisfied smile to admire his handiwork.
“All better,” he beamed.
“Lee Donghyuck, please go back to your own seat,” you’d startled, your heartbeat audible in your ears, having barely noticed your teacher entering the classroom.
Shoving Donghyuck away quickly and turning to face the front, your hands went up to press against your cheeks as Donghyuck calmly strolled back to his seat, giving your teacher a slow nod as he walked past her.
Donghyuck had bid you goodbye before his training that day, telling you that he would call you that night because he had something to tell you.
So you waited, you’d waited even though you knew that the volleyball team had gone out for drinks despite their game being the next day, running later than he’d estimated, and you waited until you ended up falling asleep with your phone in hand.
Meanwhile, Donghyuck had gone home in a daze, partially giddy from excitement for his finals but also at the thought of what had happened earlier in the morning with you and your paper cut, not knowing that the small gesture was enough to send him reeling.
Grabbing his volleyball, he’d flopped on his back onto his bed, tossing the volleyball in the air and catching it absently, thinking about what the volleyball team had brought up during dinner.
“Y/N’s coming tomorrow for sure right?” Hyunjin had asked Jisung, a playful smirk on his face. This made Donghyuck narrow his eyes at Hyunjin, chewing on his noodles harshly.
Jisung nodded, “yeah, I’m pretty sure.”
“Why does it seem like her coming is so important to you?” Bomin laughed, making Donghyuck nod in agreement, nodding his head at Hyunjin in a challenging manner.
“Isn’t it obvious? For Donghyuck’s sake,” Hyunjin smiled, his eyes forming small crescents as he did so.
The sight would’ve been absolutely endearing for you, however, Donghyuck couldn’t help but scoff.
“What do you mean ‘for my sake?’” Donghyuck huffed, narrowing his eyes at Jisung who had seemed to agree with Hyunjin as well.
“You probably haven’t noticed, but...you play a lot better when she’s around.”
Donghyuck sighed, laughing at the sheer absurdity of the situation.
No amount of texts, calls or face-times with Mina would be enough to make Donghyuck change the way he felt about you, and it was a shame to him that he could only step out of his denial at this point of time.
Yet, there was still a nagging fear of the possible awkwardness and tension that could arise if you didn’t reciprocate his feelings like how he assumed you did. A vicious cycle, really.
Turning in his bed, he’d discarded the volleyball elsewhere in his room, taking his phone and unlocking it, his finger hovering over the phone app as he let his gaze fall on his wallpaper, the picture the both of you had taken on the day of his last match. The flowers were still on his tabletop, at this point, dried and ready to be displayed in his room however he wanted.
Trying his luck, he’d called you, the ringing having woken you up from your slumber, picking up the phone call hurriedly.
“Hello?” he huffed, already smiling without noticing.
You hummed in response, too tired to form a coherent response.
“Did I wake you?”
“Uh-huh.”
Donghyuck let out a small sigh, “sorry, just wanted to tell you to meet me tomorrow after my match ends.”
You groaned, “you couldn’t have waited until tomorrow morning to tell me that?”
Donghyuck had to stop himself from giggling at the sound of your voice, even if it was when you were annoyed at him.
“No, I couldn’t. Goodnight,” he murmured, pulling his blanket up on his chest to hug it, closing his eyes in anticipation.
“I hate you, goodnight.”
Donghyuck shrugged, he figured he could live with that for now. His (rather irritable) lucky charm.
===
You were running late. After Donghyuck had called the previous night, you struggled to fall back asleep due to your racing thoughts on possible things Donghyuck could have wanted to tell you. If anything, you’d probably only slept a few hours that night.
Which was what landed you in this situation now, trying to get a cab from where you were at the bus terminal since you’d dozed off on the bus, even in spite of all the energetic music you were playing in your attempts to stay awake.
Donghyuck should have seen it coming when you hadn’t answered his texts when he’d reached the venue. The match was already about to start and Donghyuck still couldn’t seem to spot you in the crowd.
He’d stood up, looking frantically in the direction of where Chenle, Jeno, Renjun and Jaemin sat, mouthing with big movements, ‘where is y/n?’. A part of him growing even more anxious when he was met with shrugs and head shakes.
“Lee Donghyuck, what are you doing? Go! The match is starting,” his coach’s voice rang in his ears, making him dismiss his feelings of anxiousness, trying to focus his thoughts on the game at hand.
You were receiving many texts from the guys, all asking where you were, making you even more anxious that the cab driver wasn’t going any faster.
As if that wasn’t bad enough, you’d met with bad traffic once you’d neared the venue, seeing as it was about time people were getting off work now, which only meant that you’d be close to missing the entirety of Donghyuck’s match, a horrible feeling of guilt stirring in you.
You were sure Donghyuck would be mad at you, knowing how petty he was when it came to things like these. The last time you hadn’t been for his match, he’d never let you live it down, claiming he was so upset you hadn’t shown up and couldn’t focus on his playing properly.
Little did you know, the same thing was happening now, Donghyuck was trying his best to not let his feelings interfere with his performance.
After a particularly successful top-spin serve that had caught the other team off guard, since he’d usually played it safe, he’d turned on instinct to the direction his friends were seated at, expecting to see you there with a smile, his smile falling when he’d realised you still hadn’t arrived.
You were barely reaching the venue when you’d gotten a text from Chenle.
Chenle 6:11pm - are you still showing up? The match just ended -
Looking out the window, your heart sank when you saw some people you recognised to be from your school walking on the pavement next to where you were, your attention diverted back to your phone when you heard another chime from your phone.
Jisung 6:11pm -hey, where r u? Donghyuck said he’d wait for u at the back entrance. Me n the guys r leaving for dinner cause he told us to head over first-
Your leg started to bounce in anxiousness once again, gritting your teeth before deciding that you couldn’t afford to waste any more time.
“Uh, sir? I’ll just get off here,” you murmured, “can you unlock the doors, please?” You blurted.
The man looked at you curiously, “are you sure? It’s quite a far walk.”
“It’s alright! Thank you anyway,” you smiled politely, waiting for him to unlock the doors, immediately shoving the door open once he did and exiting, slinging your bag around your shoulder and running to the back entrance.
Spotting him from afar, relief washed over you that he was still waiting.
Running up to him, you almost hadn’t seen the girl standing in front of him, stopping yourself where you were, not wanting to interrupt them.
Mina was currently standing in front of Donghyuck, asking him a question he frankly wasn’t paying attention to after having spotted you running from the entrance gate.
“So....do you like me?”
Donghyuck’s gaze was still on you, tearing his stare away from you reluctantly to look at Mina, his mouth moving before his head could process the situation.
“Uhhh...yes?”
Donghyuck immediately regretted his words, especially when he saw the smile Mina had given him, also because she didn't have to look twice to know he wasn't paying attention.
Only when he'd agreed, Donghyuck knew that something about his decision didn't feel quite right, deciding that he'd explain his situation in more detail to Mina the next time they met so she wouldn't get the wrong idea.
"So... I'll see you Saturday night then?" Donghyuck nodded.
Bidding him goodbye, Mina had turned her head to look at you, bowing her head slightly in a greeting before walking off, leaving you standing there dumbfounded as Donghyuck made his way towards you.
Glancing at the serious look he had on his face, you were expecting him to scold you, to tell you how upset he was that you hadn't shown up, not expecting him to give you a shy smile, bringing his hand up to smooth your hair down, after it having gotten dishevelled while you were running.
"Was that Mina?" was all you could ask.
Donghyuck huffed, feigning hurt, "no ‘hello Donghyuck how was your match?’"
"Hi," you added after his prompting, "what did uh..." your tongue wet your lips that were feeling awfully dry all of a sudden, "are you...mad at me?”
Donghyuck shook his head, a small smile on his face, shocking you at how gracious he was being all of a sudden.
“What did uh, you know, what did Mina ask you?” you cleared your throat.
Donghyuck's hands were still cupping the sides of your head, "she asked me out."
Your eyes widened, knowing his hands on your head hadn’t prevented you from hearing him loud and clear, a part of you dreading the answer to your next question but knowing you had to ask anyway, "did you say yes?"
Donghyuck looked at you, taking the side of his lower lip between his teeth gently and letting go immediately after. Was he being selfish?
Donghyuck nodded.
His response seemed to have triggered a stream of thoughts in you, ranging from feeling sad to hating why you were sad at the news to desperately trying to suppress your emotions because Donghyuck was your friend and you should be happy for him, right?
You pursed your lips, nodding slowly as you gave him a small smile, bringing your hands up to pull his hands off of your head.
"That's great. I'm...really happy for you, she seems like a great girl."
Donghyuck's eyebrows raised slightly, surprised at your reaction, having obviously expected you to react how you usually did, with passive aggressive comments and subtle hostility in your gaze. But none of that could be seen from you now, if anything, you looked almost....sad?
"I think uh.. I'll skip out on dinner today, you and the guys can go ahead," you told him, "I kind of wanna go home and rest."
Donghyuck nodded, not wanting to prod you more, a part of him feeling that you weren't in the mood for it today.
He'd pulled his phone out while you walked to the front entrance, "I got you a driver, he's coming in 10."
You heard your phone chime, taking it out to see the details of the driver Donghyuck had sent you.
"How much do I owe you?" you asked, earning a disgruntled sound from him, shaking his head.
"You don't owe me, consider it...compensation. For having to rush over here just now just to meet me."
That reminded you.
"Right, I almost forgot. What was it you wanted to meet me to tell me?"
Donghyuck swung his shoe bag, kicking the ground absently before he looked back at you, shaking his head with a small smile.
"It's alright, forget about it," he waved you off in dismissal, "It's not important.”
You frowned. Not important? Lee Donghyuck, kept me worried all night just for something that's suddenly not important?
You scoffed, folding your arms and looking elsewhere, your grip tight on your phone, making your knuckles almost turn white with how tight your hold was.
"Go, you're gonna be late for the dinner," you told him, not being able to handle the sight of him with how mixed your feelings were.
Donghyuck was hesitant, the slight raise of his eyebrows seeming almost disbelieving.
"You sure?"
You paused, not knowing why you even bothered giving this thought, decidedly nodding your head.
"I'm sure."
===
"Are you sure that's gonna work? Like....she won't be mad at you when she finds out or anything?"
Donghyuck shrugged, sipping on his drink calmly.
"Well, that's kind of the point. She wouldn't be getting mad unless she liked me," Donghyuck brought a finger to his temple, looking at Mina with a playful glint in his eye, internally claiming himself to be a genius for this idea.
"So...your plan is to get her so mad that she confronts you?"
Donghyuck nodded, grinning widely in the hopes that his optimism would convince Mina.
Mina tilted her head hesitantly, looking down at her drink, "and you're sure this'll work."
He nodded again, earning a resigned sigh from Mina.
"Okay, fine. I'll do it. But only because you really like her, and I don't think I can handle seeing you silently pine over her any longer."
Donghyuck's grin grew wider if that were even possible, clasping his hands together triumphantly, already feeling as though half of the battle was won.
Pulling out his phone, he'd gone to his Instagram, because yes, Donghyuck wanted to make sure you would've seen it even when you were all the way at your grandma's house.
Taking a picture of Mina and posting it, he'd chosen an intentionally ambiguous caption in the form of emojis just to push your buttons (knowing you would be frustrating yourself while trying to figure out what it means).
"What's this?" Mina asked.
Donghyuck wriggled happily in his seat, satisfied with his post once he was done, “phase one."
And sure enough, Jisung never heard the end of your monologue called 'they should just get married while they’re at it but you know what I’ll just be happy for them: no big deal'
===
After that day, you'd gone days without speaking to Donghyuck. And though that wasn't anything out of the ordinary, since your relationship was at a stage where you could go ages without seeing each other but still remain just as close, contacting each other often.
However, this time it was different for you, knowing that the reason behind his packed schedule was his frequent meetups and study dates with Mina.
As if Lee Donghyuck ever cared about studying.
Donghyuck was currently laying on the floor of the school gym, having finished a particularly tiring training session with some of the guys from the volleyball team.
“Are the rumours about you and that girl true?” Bomin asked, earning a loud groan of protest from Jisung.
“Yeah, speaking of which,” he sat up from the floor with a grunt, his towel draped over his head as he pointed a finger at Donghyuck, “I’ve got a bone to pick with you. Are you dating Mina?”
Donghyuck rolled his eyes.
“What if I said I was?”
Hyunjin frowned, his eyes narrowing in confusion, “didn’t you say you liked Y/N?”
Donghyuck nodded, “I do.” He shrugged, fiddling with his shoelaces as his lower lip jut out in a pout unconsciously.
“Then what’s going on with Mina?” Jisung’s tone was exasperated, not understanding how you could like someone as frustrating as Donghyuck.
“It’s fake,” Donghyuck laughed, amused at how seriously everyone around him was acting, wondering if you were feeling equally as serious.
Jisung fell silent, his mouth agape and his finger hanging in the air, not quite understanding the situation at hand. Hyunjin on the other hand, was quick to understand Donghyuck’s intentions, raising his eyebrows in surprise.
“Is this to make her jealous?” He asked, earning a feigned look of uncertainty from Donghyuck.
“Well, that’s the plan.”
Jisung let his back fall back against the floor, kicking his legs and punching at the air with his arms as a sad whimper left his lips.
“I hate you, Lee Donghyuck. I really do. It’s your fault I’ve been getting an earful from her recently,” he whined, getting up abruptly, draping his towel around his neck.
Donghyuck’s eyes widened, “good. Hang in there a little more. It’ll be a matter of time before everything falls into place,” he reached over to pat Jisung on the shoulder, a sweet smile on his face.
Hyunjin took his lower lip between his teeth, pursing his lips as he averted his gaze from Donghyuck, finally speaking.
“I don’t think this is a good idea.”
Donghyuck sighed, “You too? Just trust me, okay? I’ve known her for like...a long while now. And knowing her, she’d be crazy jealous if the guy she liked was doing this. And she wouldn’t be quiet about it either.”
“You can’t just tell her you like her like a sensible person?”
Donghyuck hummed, “I will, okay? Don’t worry about me, I’ve got it covered.”
Jisung huffed, “yeah, right.”
Sighing, Donghyuck had stood up, sighing as he bunched his towel up in his hands, beginning to walk over to his backpack.
“I’ll be heading back now, gonna meet Mina to...discuss,” he waved, slinging his backpack over his shoulder and leisurely exiting the gym.
9:48pm -hey, wanna come over to hang?-
Donghyuck received your text while he was with Mina, hesitating before replying you.
lee donghyuck 9:48pm -alright, you can pick ill be there soon-
Figuring you shouldn’t jump to conclusions as to why he was still out even though Jisung had returned from the gym, you’d lounged on the couch, scrolling absently through social media while you waited for him to reply.
Deciding to play some music while you waited, you’d begun to doze off when Donghyuck had arrived, the boy entering the house anxiously only to spot your head lolling around as you tried to fight your drowsiness.
Walking over to where you were as carefully as he could, he leaned over, letting out a breathy giggle out of sheer affection, reaching out a hand slowly as he deliberated on whether he should wake you, feeling as though it would be selfish of him if he did just because he wanted to spend time with you.
Unfortunately for him, Donghyuck had stepped on a pillow you'd pushed onto the floor previously, letting out a small yelp as he tried regaining his balance.
You'd startled awake, looking up with wide-eyes at Donghyuck who had his hands stretched out beside him as he'd managed to stop himself from falling, looking at you with a sheepish smile.
"Hey," he straightened up, his hands flopping down to his sides, letting out a small sigh.
Funnily enough, it took you more than a few moments to realise you weren't dreaming.
The sight of Donghyuck in his pyjama pants and a simple black t-shirt indicating that he’d showered before coming over, the way he’d smelled of his shampoo and looked ready for sleep had you in a daze, wondering how you’d let yourself get to the point where just looking at him was enough to send you spiralling with your thoughts.
Shaking your head, you spoke, voice slightly hoarse, “sorry, kind of fell asleep while I was waiting," you brought your hands up to rub at your eyes with your palms, letting out a small yawn.
Reaching over to grab your phone, you’d turned your music off as you regained your composure.
Donghyuck took a seat next to you, shifting his body so he could face you more, one of his hands resting on the back of the sofa comfortably.
“Are you tired? Do you want me to come over another time?” He murmured, earning a firm shake of the head from you.
“It’s fine,” you dismissed the thought quickly, not adding the part where you had missed him.
Donghyuck nodded, leaning back so his head was resting on the plush armrest of the sofa comfortably, reaching over for the remote control and turning the television on, turning on a movie the both of you had probably watched a million times but never gotten sick of.
“Did you go anywhere before this? I was wondering what was taking you so long when Jisung came home earlier,” you mumbled out of curiosity, leaning back comfortably on the sofa in a position that mirrored Donghyuck’s, your legs bent at the knees and leant against the sofa next to his, which were stretched out fully.
You’d felt one of his hands rest just above your knee comfortably, his thumb rubbing your leg gently.
Donghyuck glanced briefly at you before directing his gaze back to the television, “oh, you know, just went to meet Mina for dinner.”
You nodded slowly, a low hum leaving you, “oh...cool.”
He seemed happy. You didn’t want to make him feel bad about being with Mina just because you had a problem with it. You’d never even thought much about him at first, it wouldn’t have been fair if you just claimed him as yours when he was already in a relationship with Mina, you figured.
Donghyuck sighed, his hands stretching out in a force of habit gesture he would use to beckon you to cuddle with him, only now realising that that may not have been all that appropriate considering he was supposed to be pretending to date Mina.
“That’s nice. I’m really happy for you that you found someone like her,” you mustered with a small smile on your face.
You’d sensed his reservation too, feeling as though you were both being banished to either end of the sofa, not allowed to go any closer.
Donghyuck frowned, your reaction seeming to have been unsatisfactory for him.
“Really? You’re not like...mad or anything?” he prompted, making you laugh.
“You sound like you want me to be mad,” you huffed, flustering Donghyuck into opening and closing his mouth, fumbling with his words.
“I mean like, no, like, you are entitled to feeling however you want about it, like...” he stopped himself, “you’re really not mad?”
You sighed, turning away from the television to look at Donghyuck, who was already looking at you bewildered.
“Look, I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t bothered by the fact that you’re a lot busier now, but what kind of friend would I be if I couldn’t even support you when you’re happy with her?”
Donghyuck shut his lips tightly, not knowing how to react to your statement, wondering if he was wrong to assume that you had feelings for him.
You hummed, letting your legs rest over his slightly as you turned your body to face the television.
Donghyuck inhaled deeply, debating on whether or not now would be a good time to tell you, but knowing that it would put you in a tight spot since he hadn’t ended things with Mina yet.
Today, Donghyuck figured he shouldn’t be selfish.
Choosing not to pursue the topic more, Donghyuck had let you continue to watch the movie. Though as you did so, laughing and cooing at the happy and sad parts of the movie, Donghyuck couldn’t keep his gaze from wandering to you from time to time. As if it was second nature for him to gauge your reaction during the comedic parts just to make sure you were enjoying yourself.
Or maybe, it was just an excuse to look at you, the line had blurred a long time ago for him.
Only later on in the movie, Donghyuck couldn’t help but let his thoughts wander to how you felt towards his (fake) relationship, picking up his phone to distract himself only to see the many texts that had flooded in from the dnyl chat group.
renjun 12:59am - donghyuck what is this about you and mina -
jeno 12:59am – yeah! I heard from chenle abt it...-
renjun 1:00am - I think this is possibly the worst idea you’ve ever had -
jaemin 1:00am – I don’t want to lie to y/n >:( 1:00am – - im gonna tell Harvey -
jeno 1:02am – same! n btw chenle said she felt rly bad about missing ur match –
renjun 1:02am – jeno idk how that’s relevant but sure we’ll take it –
jaemin 1:03am – a part of me is kind of curious how this would play out at hyuck’s party though –
jeno 1:03am - oh right, isn’t it this weekend? -
renjun 1:03am - yeah it is -
jeno 1:04 am – how are u guys getting there? are we helping Donghyuck set up? –
jaemin 1:04am – I’m cool w that -
Donghyuck typed out his reply discreetly enough without you noticing, too distracted by the movie.
1:20am -trust me I have a plan-
Setting his phone down on the coffee table, he’d looked at you, debating on whether or not to ask you what was weighing on his mind, catching him off guard when you had turned to look at him, eyebrows raising curiously.
“What’s wrong? The movie’s over”
Donghyuck paused, turning to realise that the movie was indeed over and he hadn’t paid attention at all for the last bit.
“Nothing. I was like...was wondering if you were gonna come early this weekend to help me set up for the party.”
You felt a tinge of disappointment, hoping it hadn’t shown too much in your expression as you gave him a delayed nod, letting out a small sigh that you masked to be because you were tired.
“Yeah, of course,” you huffed.
Donghyuck nodded, getting up abruptly, “I should probably be heading back now, you should get some rest.”
You frowned, but nodded nonetheless, “okay,” you stood up, walking closely behind him.
Donghyuck contemplated asking if he could stay over, almost forgetting his entire plan for a second (and then wondering if he even had a legitimate plan in the first place), his hesitation causing his body to function faster than he could process, turning around abruptly without warning.
His sudden halt making you yelp, almost colliding into him and stopping yourself just in time, Donghyuck reacting quickly and reaching his hand out to grab your arm in an attempt to steady you.
Something about the air had thickened with tension then. Donghyuck blamed it on his prior racing thoughts, because looking at you now, he definitely did not have a plan.
You, on the other hand, blamed it on the way you weren’t even focused on the movie to begin with, too occupied with hating the feeling of pining after somebody that was already taken. But whatever it was, you knew that you didn’t have much of a plan either.
This was too close. You should’ve stuck to whatever 2 metre radius you had on the sofa just now, because if you were already distracted by his presence then, it was definitely a lot worse now.
You could smell the fabric softener of his shirt, feeling him squeeze your arm gently as you dared yourself to look up at him, your breath hitching at the way he was looking at you.
Maybe you were just imagining things.
Like how you were ‘imagining’ the way he seemed to be leaning closer to you, his gaze flickering between your features to ultimately end up on your lips, almost as if he was gravitating towards you.
Donghyuck scoffed. The universe was basically begging me to kiss my close friend.
Just as you’d felt yourself leaning closer as well, you’d begun to process what was happening, stepping back quickly and averting your gaze, suddenly interested in what was in your kitchen.
“I should go.”
You huffed nervously, “yeah, you should.”
Donghyuck nodded, wordlessly leaving your house, shutting the door behind him as he left, the only sound left being the trailer for whatever movie was on the television sounding throughout your living room.
=== You were sure this was going to be a very long day.
You’d just bought your present for Donghyuck from the florist, packing it carefully in a nice bag before you headed over to his house, only to have arrived at Donghyuck’s house to see him and Mina busy with preparing snacks.
You’d entered the kitchen to be met with a laughing Donghyuck and a squealing Mina, joking around as they prepared the various food and snacks.
“Oh, hey, you’re here! Is that a gift? If it is you can put it up in Donghyuck’s room,” she smiled at you.
You’d returned her smile out of politeness, ignoring the way Donghyuck was looking at you as though he was searching your face for any emotions that were out of the ordinary. You hoped you weren’t being too obvious with your forced smile, turning quickly so you could let your smile drop, wanting to roll your eyes.
What was this? Their housewarming party?
Huffing, you’d left the kitchen, meeting Hyunjin and Jisung on the way upstairs, Jisung nudging you as a greeting as he continued down the stairs.
Hyunjin reacted quickly, calling out to Jisung, “hey, I’ll meet you downstairs later,” he called, turning around and accompanying you upstairs.
“Hey, how’ve you been?” he asked, earning a shrug from you, opening the door to Donghyuck’s room as you took the plant out of the bag.
“I’ve been good, I guess. You?” you spoke as you walked over to his balcony to place the small potted flower on the small table he had there, admiring the way it looked.
“Uh... good too...I guess,” he huffed in amusement, bringing his hand up to the back of his neck, fiddling with his collar.
Hyunjin figured he’d might as well try to distract you from paying too much attention to Donghyuck and Mina.
“D’you wanna help Jisung and I with the decorations?” he offered, earning a nod from you.
“Yeah, sure. Not like I have anything better to do here,” you shrugged, letting him lead you downstairs to the living room where you saw Jisung and Jeno sitting on the floor at the coffee table, focused on cutting something to decorate the makeshift backdrop Donghyuck had where the photos would be taken later on.
“Where’s the rest?” Hyunjin asked, making Jisung and Jeno look up.
Jeno gave you a smile in greeting, beckoning you over to sit with him.
“Jaemin and Renjun went to collect the balloons. Chenle....” he looked at Jisung in the hopes that he would know where his friend was.
“In the kitchen spying on Donghyuck and Mina.”
You scoffed, not being able to help the laugh from bubbling out of you.
“He should leave them alone, wouldn’t want to spoil their alone time.”
Hyunjin gave you a surprised look as Jisung scoffed, “please, as if they don’t get plenty of alone time as it is.”
You’d made a displeased sound, knowing you agreed with him but not wanting to be sulky about it.
“Yeah, well,” you’d cut a piece of tape to hand to Jeno, “It’s not like I can tell him who to spend his time with, can I?”
Jeno perked up at the statement, “yes, you can. You totally can. You should definitely do that.”
Assuming they were joking with how quick Hyunjin and Jisung were to agree, you’d let out a chuckle, shaking your head.
“Y/N, can you follow me to go hang these up?” Hyunjin asked, holding up the many streamers he had hooked onto his fingers, earning a nod from you.
Holding his arm out for you to take, you couldn’t help but wonder why you weren’t feeling as excited as you usually would be if a situation involved Hyunjin. Choosing to ponder over the thought, you followed him over to the backdrop setup.
Sitting on the table where the cake was supposed to be, you’d pre-cut various pieces of tape, pasting them on your arm, holding it out for Hyunjin to access it more easily as he hung up the decorations, your gaze constantly wandering over to the kitchen where you could see Donghyuck whispering something to Mina, earning a giggle from her.
“Does it bother you?”
Your attention was directed towards Hyunjin, making you frown.
“Huh?” You did a once-over of the decorations, shaking your head, “nah, I think what you did was fine. Maybe move that one a little to the left.”
Hyunjin burst into laughter, shocking you at the sudden outburst as he shook his head, speaking as he calmed down.
“No, I was talking about those people in the kitchen,” he told you pointedly, making you look back at the kitchen to realise who he was referring to.
You shrugged, letting out a sigh instead, unsure how to reply Hyunjin.
“I figured. You’d been staring at them ever since we came here.”
You scoffed. “I wasn’t!... okay maybe I was, but it doesn’t mean anything, I swear.”
Hyunjin huffed, “I thought Jisung was a bad liar but... I’d say you’re a lot worse.”
“Maybe it runs in the family,” you sighed.
You’d averted your gaze quickly when you saw Donghyuck exiting the kitchen, making his way over to where you and Hyunjin were, your presence together with him clearly having struck a nerve with him.
“Hey,” he murmured, standing next to where you sat on the table, so close that your legs were touching his hips.
“Careful now, wouldn’t want your girlfriend getting jealous.”
Only then did Donghyuck register your words, not having given it a single thought when he’d approached you, the only thing in his head having been to make sure Hyunjin wasn’t trying to hit on you. Little did he know, you wouldn’t have noticed even if he was, your head preoccupied with thoughts about Donghyuck.
Taking the tiniest of steps away from you, he glanced over in Mina’s direction, seeing her prompt him to carry out what they’d discussed.
“Not much of a girlfriend, if you asked me,” Donghyuck shrugged, making your eyebrows knit in confusion, a small pout appearing on your lips.
“Really? Thought you guys seemed to be getting along pretty well,” you murmured.
Hyunjin was trying his best to eavesdrop, taking particularly long to hang up each streamer.
“That’s kind of the thing...” he began, your conversation interrupted when the doorbell rang, making him halt your conversation to go and answer the door, leaving you hanging.
Hyunjin turned around, a scandalised look on his face.
“What was that!” he whispered harshly.
You handed him the last piece of tape on your arm with a wide-eyed look, shrugging, “beats me.”
You’d seen Donghyuck walking back into the room, with Chenle, Jaemin and Renjun following behind him, before parting ways and walking over to where you and Hyunjin were, Jaemin and Renjun beginning to display the balloons. Or more accurately, Renjun displayed them while Jaemin gave him compliments.
Jaemin stood next to where you sat, leaning on the table, his arms folded in front of him.
“I trust their artistic direction,” he gestured to them, “the last time they did the banners for the school’s valentine’s day fair I ended up with a girlfriend.”
Renjun scoffed, “speaking of which, where are they?”
Jaemin shook his head, “nope, couldn’t make it cause they’ve got some family dinner.”
You nodded in understanding, seeming a little uninvested in the conversation, but Jaemin figured he knew why, being able to sense that you were a little preoccupied with your continuous glances cast towards Donghyuck and Mina’s direction.
“Who knows, maybe their weird art magic will help you get a boyfriend too,” Jaemin nudged you.
This had only caused your frown to deepen when you’d immediately visualised Donghyuck as your boyfriend, shaking your head in dismissal.
Mina had noticed you staring, leaning over to Donghyuck, “I don’t think your plan is working very much.”
Donghyuck sighed, “I know. I’m honestly close to giving up, but I just need a chance to talk to her alone later, I swear I’ll tell her everything then.”
Mina narrowed her eyes at him, “okay. I’ll try to create an opportunity, but you’d better make sure you tell her. I can’t bear seeing her look so sad,” she scolded, mustering a smile before she’d left to talk to the other guests Donghyuck had invited.
Soon enough (thankfully), the decorations were done and Donghyuck had started to play music in the house, bringing out the snacks and food for everyone to eat. You’d taken your seat next to Hyunjin and Jisung since Donghyuck seemed to be a little preoccupied with Mina.
Which, of course, you had to lie to yourself again and say you didn’t mind.
You were thankful for Hyunjin and Jisung’s presence, of course, since it had managed to distract you from being sad over seeing Donghyuck being happy with Mina and taking food for her or how she would brush his hair back for no reason and oh, how much you wished you were Mina.
You were about a hundred percent sure you liked Donghyuck, in the least best-friend way possible.
Somewhere along the way, when people had brought out the drinks and everyone had been lounging and using their phones for a while, you’d heard someone call for everyone to gather so you could play games. You figured you were up for it, since you were never one to refuse board games, so you didn’t mind when Donghyuck had brought out his ‘Jenga’ set.
You decided to play in teams since there were so many of you, and you’d teamed up with Hyunjin since Chenle had teamed up with Jisung, while Jaemin preferred to be the (arguably unnecessary) ‘referee’.
Somehow or another, you were stuck in a difficult position, having to bend your hand awkwardly to get the piece you had chosen out, and in trying to get into a favourable position, you’d somehow ended up having to squeeze yourself between where Donghyuck sat and the coffee table, trying not to let yourself lean against him.
“Don’t choose that one, choose that one,” you’d almost jumped at his hand that had gone next to yours, grabbing your hand and directing it to the piece he was referring to, your breath hitching as he did so.
Your heartbeat was beginning to pick up speed, as you tried your best to do so, unappreciative of the commentary Donghyuck was giving from behind you, even to the extent of leaning over so his head was mere inches away from your ear as he directed you calmly.
It wasn’t as if you were the only one feeling tense, Donghyuck’s gesture had warranted many stares and wide eyes from the people in the circle, making you eager to get this over with.
Unable to take it, you’d barely moved the piece when you raised your hand abruptly, “Hyunjin, you do it. I can’t.”
Donghyuck backed away quickly, raising an eyebrow at you as if he didn’t know why you’d given up, making Mina roll her eyes at Donghyuck, “now that’s just cheating,” she told him.
Hyunjin had taken over for you, and for many more turns afterwards. You were thankful when Jisung had lost since you decided you had enough of this game. Proposing another game, you had hoped they had another board game prepared, since you were sure Donghyuck had more than a few in his storeroom.
Unfortunately for you, they seemed to have other plans, with Mina (you were too distracted by what the game was to pay attention to who said it) proposing a game of ‘Truth or Dare’.
As if you hadn’t been put on the spot enough today already.
The first few questions were simple, typical of the game. Simple questions of this or that whenever people chose truth, everyone seeming too afraid to start choosing dare.
Soon enough, it was Jaemin’s turn to ask a question, humming in thought as he scanned the circle.
“I pick Hyunjin.”
You weren’t paying much attention, glaring at the coffee table after you saw Donghyuck slinging his arm around Mina’s shoulder, letting her rest her head on his chest as if it was second nature to them.
Hyunjin scoffed, “truth,” he answered without missing a beat.
Jaemin stuck his tongue out at Hyunjin teasingly, “If you could date anyone in our school who would it be?”
“Y/N?” Hyunjin answered, earning a glare from Donghyuck (and many low sounds of surprise from the rest).
Donghyuck searched your gaze for a reaction, something stirring in him when he didn’t spot the look that he usually saw you wear whenever you saw Hyunjin. Strangely, this time you looked as though you didn’t care much for his answer.
“Would you ask her out?”
Donghyuck scoffed, standing up abruptly, making everyone’s heads turn to face him, amused at what would have triggered his outburst since he’d been so willingly upholding whatever happy-couple façade he had with Mina.
“This game is boring. Let’s play something else,” he blurted, making you scoff.
What was he doing getting so riled up over a question that wasn’t even for him?
Donghyuck’s outburst had caused the crowd to dissipate, the boys gathering at the sofa to play video games on Donghyuck’s console, everybody seeming to have returned to their state before you started playing games.
Mina nudged Donghyuck, “now’s your chance, go and talk to her. I’ll make sure no one interrupts you guys.”
Donghyuck heaved a heavy sigh, nodding slowly, his confidence from before seeming to have returned as he stood up, making his way over to where you were, laughing at something Hyunjin had said.
“Hey,” you heard Donghyuck’s voice, looking up to spot him standing with his hands shoved in his pockets, his body language a contrast to what he was feeling.
“Hey?” you answered, unsure what he was approaching you so aggressively for, but slightly thankful that you were getting some sort of attention from him today.
“Can we talk? Like..upstairs,” he gestured with his head in the direction of the stairs, making you nod slowly, growing nervous at his sudden request, your thoughts having immediately wandered back to what he’d said just now about Mina, wondering if that was what he’d wanted to talk to you about.
Hyunjin gave you an encouraging nod, wanting you to go up with Donghyuck, prompting you to do so. Letting him lead you upstairs, you reminded yourself repeatedly to keep calm, that this was your close friend you were going to be talking to. Your close friend that had a girlfriend. Your close friend that you really really liked that had a girlfriend.
Entering Donghyuck’s room, he shut the door behind you, walking over to the balcony, and leaning against the railing, shutting his eyes as the breeze grazed his cheeks, finding that he would much prefer your touch on his cheeks.
“So, uh,” you began, “what did you wanna talk to me about?”
“Don’t date Hyunjin.”
You frowned, leaning with your back against the railing so you could look at him, your arms folded across your chest, “what?”
“I don’t think he’d be a good match for you,” Donghyuck shrugged, going completely off course from how he’d initially planned on approaching the topic of his feelings.
Scoffing, you glanced at the orchid flower sitting on his balcony table, rolling your shoulders back before speaking. Friendship, new beginnings, you remembered the florist telling you when you’d asked for what the flower symbolised.
“That’s what you wanted to talk to me up here about?”
“Well, no but—”
“Since when did it matter to you?”
Donghyuck looked down at the small view he had of the neighbourhood, his voice coming out firmly, “it always mattered to me. You just never noticed.”
You weren’t sure what he was getting at. His words were doing nothing to help your feelings for him, if anything, it made you even more confused.
“What if I was going to date Hyunjin? Does that mean you’d tell me I couldn’t?”
“Are you going to date Hyunjin?”
“What does it matter to you if I date him? You’re already with Mina.”
Donghyuck scoffed, “It matters because I don’t like it.”
You groaned in frustration, your hands going up to brush your hair back harshly, “so what? Just because you don’t like Hyunjin means that I have to give him up?”
Donghyuck turned to you, nodding as if it was his legal right to dictate your love life. “Fine, so go downstairs and ask him out, then.”
“I’m not doing that.”
“Well, why not?”
“Because I don’t wanna ask him out,” you shot back.
“Then there shouldn’t be a problem with me telling you what I think, right?”
You scoffed, not wanting to let him manipulate you into confessing your feelings for him. Blinded by frustration, you’d let yourself slip, “well if that’s the case then I can say that I don’t like you dating Mina either! Does it mean that you’re gonna break up with her?”
“I will if you want me to.”
You fell silent at that, unsure how to interpret what he’d said.
“This isn’t how it’s supposed to be, Donghyuck. I’m supposed to support you as your friend, and you’re supposed to support me. You look happy with Mina, so I’m supporting you. Shouldn’t you want me to be happy too?”
Donghyuck narrowed his eyes at you, tipping his head back in frustration before he’d made his way in front of where you stood, his hands going on either side of the railing next to you, caging you on the spot.
“Then can you say for yourself that you’d be happy dating Hyunjin?” You hesitated.
“... No,” you murmured, averting your gaze anywhere except for him.
“Then who would you be happy with? Tell me, and I’ll tell you what I think.”
“I don’t care what you think—”
“Tell me who, Y/N.”
You rolled your eyes, upset that he was putting you on the spot like this, deciding to look him in the eyes, despite the warmth you felt pricking at your eyes, “you’re being mean.”
“Just tell me,” Donghyuck insisted.
“Okay, fine. It’s you, okay? Are you happy now?” you scoffed, “look, you’re perfectly happy with Mina and as your friend I should respect that—”
“We’re not just friends and you know it.”
Donghyuck groaned in frustration, his grip tightening on the railing as he kept his gaze on you.
Just for a moment, Donghyuck had managed to make you forget about hesitating. The way he was looking at you, it’d almost made you believe that he wasn’t with Mina, that everything else could wait but in this moment, he’d wanted it to just be you and him.
“That doesn’t make sense...” you murmured, though that hadn’t stopped you from staring at his face, trying to get a sensing of just what it was that he wanted from you.
Donghyuck had a few options, to tell you now about the fake relationship and risk you getting mad at him. To stop himself and tell you about how he’d been planning on breaking up with Mina.
But his last option, the most selfish of all, was to just let himself have this moment with you, and deal with the repercussions of it later on.
Donghyuck chose to be selfish.
Leaning closer to you, you’d found yourself looking up as well, his gaze replaced by a more determined, decisive one, as he glanced at your lips, inching closer so your lips were barely touching.
Not being able to handle the tension any longer, you chose to be selfish too.
Apologising to Mina in your head, you’d brought your hands up to cup his face, bringing him closer to you to meet your lips with his, hearing him sigh as he kissed you back.
Donghyuck wasn’t sorry, not at all, especially when he’d removed his hands from the railing to grasp at your waist, his other hand moving from your waist to cup the side of your face, holding you firmly as if he was telling you that he wasn’t going to let go first.
Coming to your senses, you’d stopped yourself just as he tried to deepen the kiss, pulling back breathless with your chest heaving, your hands dropping from his face as if they’d been burned. Donghyuck tore his gaze reluctantly from your lips, soft breaths leaving him as he bit his lip, trying to process what had happened.
You shook your head, instantly feeling horrible that you’d kissed him but the worst part being that you knew you made the choice on your own.
“I’m not supposed to be doing this with you. How could you let me do that, you have a girlfriend!” you gasped, your hands flying up to cover your mouth, staring at him scandalised.
Donghyuck stood dumbfounded, “wait, let me explain. It’ll all make sense.”
You shook your head, pushing his arms off of you as you took a step back from him.
“Settle your shit with Mina before you talk to me. You can’t just assume you can go behind her back like this and that we’ll both be okay with it,” you scoffed.
“That’s not how it works. It’s not the same as saying you love both your mom and your dad. I need you to make a clear decision and not put me through this anymore,” you blurted, your words coming out a mile a minute with how flustered you were.
“I’m sorry, I’m leaving. Happy birthday.”
Donghyuck parted with the feeling of your hands cupping his face, now met with the cold breeze once again.
===
It wasn’t as if you wouldn’t see Donghyuck in school. You did, except he hadn’t made a move to reach out to you first, since he figured you still needed some time to collect your thoughts.
You’d only heard halfway through the week that he’d broken up with Mina (much to Jisung’s relief), though strangely, he didn’t seem very different to you.
Not that your information gathered through furtive glances in his direction during lessons were of any indication.
He’d surprised you on Friday morning, when you’d been freezing in the classroom because your school sweater was still in the wash, looking stupid as the only student that hadn’t brought a worn the sweater.
Only upon returning after a trip to the washroom in between lessons to try to warm up your body with a walk, you’d spotted the presence of a school sweater on your desk, and the lack thereof on Donghyuck, who fiddled with his tie nonchalantly, supporting his head on his arm which was on his desk.
Lifting the sweater, you were about to hang it on your chair, stubbornly not wanting to give him the satisfaction of you putting it on, only to reveal the big scrawl on your notebook that you could only identify as Donghyuck’s handwriting, reading : ‘don’t be stubborn and wear it. You’ll freeze if you don’t’.
Huffing, you’d reluctantly put on the sweater, your fingers grazing lightly over the small student council pin near the collar, not wanting to make it too obvious that the comfort and warmth of the sweater was absolutely needed, simply looking down at your notebook and flipping the page.
You’d stayed behind in school that day to get some work done in the library, not expecting to have spotted Jisung and Chenle there, the group approaching you to greet you.
Chenle’s eyebrows raised in surprise.
“I’m guessing you and Donghyuck have made up already? God, it was so hard keeping all that fake relationship nonsense he had with Mina a secret from you—” Chenle stopped himself once he saw your expression, instantly regretting opening his mouth.
“I’m sorry, his what?”
Chenle directed his gaze elsewhere, shrugging, nudging Jisung with his foot in his panic, making Jisung shrug, “uh..what? I didn’t hear anything, did you?”
“Where is he now?” you spoke, not sure whether you were happy or angry that the situation turned out this way. All you knew was that you needed to see Donghyuck and give him a piece of your mind.
“He’s uh...he’s in the council room with the dnyl guys.”
You stood up, gathering your things quickly and bidding Jisung and Chenle goodbye, Chenle pulling out his phone to text Donghyuck.
chenle 7:19pm -y/n just found out n shes super mad at you prepare yourself-
Donghyuck had pulled his phone out, not being able to help the giddy feeling in him from arising.
“Why? What’s got you looking so happy?” Renjun asked.
“Y/N found out.”
Renjun frowned, not knowing how Donghyuck could be so happy about his impending scolding, leaning over to Jaemin and Jeno to murmur, “I think he’s lost it.”
You weren’t even sure what you’d wanted to tell him as you were storming towards the council room. I mean, you knew you needed to confront him, yet you couldn’t quite phrase your words in your head, all of them seeming to do no justice to your true thoughts and emotions.
But before you knew it, you were already in front of the council room door, with no prepared speech whatsoever, shoving the door open and glaring at a smiling Donghyuck.
“Lee Donghyuck, we need to talk. Now.”
You’d left the room, waiting impatiently until the doors opened again, Donghyuck walking out calmly, his hands in his pockets like before.
“Hey,” he breathed.
“Hey? Hey? You lie to me about something so big and kiss me to confuse me and now all you can say is hey?” you scoffed, hating the way he was smiling at you because whatever it was, it was making it harder for you to stay mad at him.
Donghyuck didn’t care, he was happy. He didn’t care if you were mad at him, or if you were gonna nag him until your voice went hoarse. He didn’t care about whatever you could possibly throw at him because he was so happy that you were finally telling him truthfully about all the emotions you were feeling.
“You’re wearing my sweater,” he pointed out calmly, as if you hadn’t just showed up to the council room fuming.
You flushed, trying to ignore the way you’d felt somewhat shy under his gaze, choosing to cover it up for the sake of your pride.
“I didn’t come here to play spot the difference, Donghyuck.”
Donghyuck let out an amused huff, “I know. Look, I’m sorry I lied to you,” he said, letting out a breathy laugh. “My initial plan was to just make you so jealous that you would crack and admit your feelings for me. But that didn’t seem to be working very well.”
You scoffed, “oh, it worked. It worked very well. I was so jealous I couldn’t even think straight. I should’ve known it was fake, this is so like you.”
“Well then why didn’t you show it?” he pouted.
You gave him a look of disbelief, “because that was how much I liked you! I didn’t want you to feel bad just because you liked someone that wasn’t me. I’ll have you know, I was trying very hard to be supportive.”
He grinned, his hands coming out of his pockets to fold his arms across his chest calmly, scrunching his nose up cutely.
“I know, Jisung told me.”
You rolled your eyes. The anger you were feeling from before dying down, now being overtaken by the giddiness from the thought that this meant that Donghyuck reciprocated your feelings, and there was essentially nothing stopping the both of you from pursuing these feelings.
Donghyuck gave you a soft smile, stepping forward to wrap his arms around you, resting his chin comfortably on your shoulder, “are you still mad?”
“You’re really manipulative, you know that? It’s so hard for me to stay mad at you.” Donghyuck laughed, his hands rubbing your back soothingly, “good.”
“Now...because the last one didn’t end very well, can I have a second try?” Donghyuck pulled away from you, his hands on your shoulders as he leant back to gauge your expression.
“At what?”
“Trust me, close your eyes.”
You frowned at him, but obliged, not being able to hide your smile when you’d felt his hand cup the side of your neck, instantly knowing what he was about to do, feeling the confirmation of his lips press against yours not long after.
Watching from the inside of the room, Jaemin let out a relieved sigh. “Awfully dysfunctional dynamic, but I’m glad it worked out for them.”
Jeno hummed in agreement, “maybe Jaemin was right about your weird art magic, Renjun.”
Jaemin scoffed, “of course I’m right,” he let out a gasp, “wait...but doesn’t that mean we won’t necessarily be needing the club anymore? Since all of us are kind of...you know, taken?”
“I vote we keep the club,” Jeno suggested, earning a low impressed sound from Renjun.
“Thought you were the one that said this club was stupid, huh?”
Jeno shrugged, “guess Harvey was right...about what exactly, I’m not very sure but just...right.”
“Speaking of Harvey, we should probably tell him about this...development.”
Donghyuck pulled away from you, burying his head in your shoulder shyly, “I don’t think this is appropriate to be doing on school grounds.”
“Oh so now you want to be a rule-abiding council member?” Donghyuck huffed, maybe being selfish wasn’t such a bad thing after all, especially when it came to you.
Donghyuck scrunched up his nose, letting out a thoughtful hum, “... on second thought, maybe we should head out of school so we can continue this in peace.”

Tumblr media
The soft creak of the metal door of the school's locker rung in your ears as you grabbed a few books and stashed it into your backpack. It was free period before all your classes were over so you decided to stay in the library for the time being. The library was the only quiet place during the afternoon, it's either most of the students are in their club rooms or are waiting by the cafeteria for the gates to open so that they could leave the school premises. It was just like any day in Aoba Johsai. You made your way through the busy hallway towards the school's library. At least by staying there, you could also catch up on your readings for classes and study ahead for the next lesson for each class. Or so you thought. "Oikawa, I'm giving you the last warning. If you don't remain silent, I have no choice but to have you exit the library." The librarian spoke through the intercom, her message directed towards a certain Tooru Oikawa who was probably somewhere behind rows of bookshelves.
Just when you thought you could be at peace, the school's pretty boy happened to be at the same place as you were. Technically, Oikawa was not that annoying, it was his fangirls. The guy is gorgeous and talented, especially in volleyball, thus gaining a huge fanbase, not only in the prefecture but all over Japan. Wherever Oikawa went, a swarm of his fans would surround him and the guy was too soft to say no to their persistent pleas of wanting to take pictures or give him gifts. By the end of the day, he would have a few paper bags of food in his hand and a bunch of letters in his bag. You sighed and simply headed to the isolated parts of the library which was behind a few rows of dusty old books that were nearly torn and worn out. However, you were not the only one who liked this specific spot. As you walked closer to the table, your eyes fixated on a tall, lean figure who was surrounded by a bunch of girls. You immediately knew that it was Oikawa. Pursing your lips, you settled at a different table which was not too far from them but also enough distance to not eavesdrop on their conversations. ___ As you were writing down a bunch of notes for the lessons, you couldn't help but notice the awkward tension in the air. You couldn't put your finger on it, but you were sure that someone, somewhere must've been feeling very uncomfortable for a while now. You shrugged off the feeling and stood up, heading towards one of the bookshelves close to Oikawa. The aisles in the backrows usually had the best books for classes, and they help you a lot when you were studying. Not everyone knew about most of the teacher's textbooks being stored in the library so not much people head to the backrows for it. Dust coated the tip of your finger as you ran it along the spines of the books, searching for a specific textbook for your class tomorrow. You could hear Oikawa's voice, it seemed uneasy as he was trying to get the girls around him to leave him alone for a while. "U-uhm, I have to study." "Don't you have any lessons you need to catch up on?" "Let me finish this chapter in the textbook then maybe I can come with you girls?" It sounded like he was having a hard time for the girls to get off his back. Feeling sorry for the guy, you head back to your table and grabbed your things. You walked back towards the row of dusty books and grabbed the ones that you needed and headed for Oikawa's table. You dropped the old books on the table, all the dust flying out which made the girls sneeze and itch their noses. You then settled your things beside Oikawa and took a seat beside him. "Hey babe." You said and Oikawa stared at you in confusion. The guy was pretty smart, but when it came to finding ways to fend off his fangirls, he was dumb as a brick. You raised your eyebrows in a threatening way and he must've got the signal. Oikawa snakes his arm behind you and pulls you closer, placing a soft kiss on your temple. His fangirls were shocked at the scenario that played out in front of them, and finally deciding to leave the poor guy.  As soon as they were out of sight, you pushed him away and moved your chair to the side, creating a safe distance from Oikawa. "Why did you do that?" He asked as you flipped through the pages of the book. "I could feel your uneasiness from my table, so I figured I'd help a poor soul." You answered, your gaze still focusing on the learning materials in front of you. A soft smirk crept up Oikawa's lips. "Well, thanks for that. But, are you sure that's all that was behind your little heroic gesture?" He teases and you furrowed your eyebrows. Placing your pen on the table, you snap your head to face the obnoxious guy beside you, a stupid smirk on plastered on his face. "For someone who can't even keep his fans in control, you sure have a huge ego." You spat and Oikawa laughed at your retort. He never knew someone could resist his teasing. All his life, girls turned their heads to appreciate his radiating beauty, but you were something else. He liked challenges, and you definitely seemed like one. ___ It's been a week since your encounter with Oikawa and his fangirls, and you've been avoiding every way possible of bumping into him. The guy was everywhere, and that made it hard to stay clear from him. There were times that you could hear his voice from the hallways since you were in the same year as Kyotani, however he was in a lower class than you. You would often hear him share a conversation with Kyotani as they were teammates in the volleyball club, and when during those times, you would bury your face in a book. You didn't want him to see you because he would pester you again especially with that stupid kiss that he placed on your temple. However, Oikawa had already acknowledged your presence. He's been looking for ways to talk with you again but, he needed the perfect time to do so. Knowing his massive fanbase, some of them were too obsessed, and if they found out about you, they'd probably find ways to eliminate you. Packing your things, you slung your bag over your shoulder and walked out the classroom. You were a part of Aoba Johsai's dance team and with the annual 'Miyagi Prefecture High School Sports Festival' taking place in the school, your team was assigned to perform for an opening ceremony. As you were on your way to the practice spot, Haruto, who was one of your fellow dancers walked up to you and initiated a conversation. Haruto was a good friend of yours, and he was a really good dancer too. "Hey Y/N, are you ready for our practice? You're in charge of the choreography today right? Akari won't be with us for a week so she said she'll catch up with us once she's back." Haruto said and you nodded. Akira was another one of your teammates, usually both of you were the people in charge of the choreography, but without her, it would probably be tougher to work on. Akira was a very talented dancer and choreographer, she always had great ideas for the most creative and powerful dance routines.   "Yeah, it's going to be tricky but I could always ask you guy for ideas." You said and entered the gym. The gym had the biggest stage in the school and the group needed as much space for the routine you had in mind. "Are you sure we'll be able to work on our choreography while avoiding balls?" Haruto teases and confusion washed over your system. Avoiding balls? Why'd you have to avoid balls? "Oh, I see you're here darling." Oikawa. It was Oikawa Tooru. How could you forget that the boys' volleyball club occupies the gym after school hours? Just when you thought you've been doing well to avoid him; he shows up in the exact place you didn't want him to be at. "You know, I thought you were pretty bold when you helped me with my fans, but I never thought you'd also be at my practices." He messes and you facepalmed. Damn, how could you have let it slip your mind.   "I wanted to see you get smacked by Iwaizumi when you messed up." You answered and smiled at him; the coldest one you could pull off. Iwaizumi, who was beside him laughed, clearly amused at how you were able to counter Oikawa. "Don't worry, we'll try our best to avoid spiking towards you guys." Iwaizumi said and pulls Oikawa away. The two boys headed over to the club room, probably to get changed as you and Haruto got up on the stage. Both of you settled your bags on the floor and you grabbed a black hoodie and a matching black jogging pants. You headed towards backstage to change into your dance practice outfit. Afterwards, you walked back out and stuffed your uniform into a separate compartment. Grabbing the pair of Adidas superstars in your bag, you slipped it on and tucked your school shoes under your bag. "Hey Y/N, you look good." Lucy said as the other members started arriving. From the other side of the gym, you could see that the team was already having a meeting with their coach. You shook your head and diverted your attention towards your own group. ___ "Okay, cue the music." You instructed and a few seconds later, the music echoed throughout the gym. Everyone moved to the beat, formations changing here and there as everyone tried their best not to mess up the routine. Sweat trickled from your forehead as you tried to control your breathing to match the music. You've practiced the routine for roughly 2 hours and it was slowly getting darker outside. Everyone was tired but that was no excuse. The school's dance team had been representing the Miyagi Prefecture in dance competitions around Japan for years, and it was because each member worked so hard each time. So today was no exemption. From the corner of your eyes, you noticed how the volleyball team's pace slowed down. It was as if the game was slowing down, but you had no idea why. Focusing on your dance, your body matched every beat of the music and a smile crept up your lips. Deep breaths echoed through the gym as the music came to an end. You were able to finish the choreography within two hours and another hour for actual memorization of the routine. Everyone was exhausted and you were proud of the effort that everyone displayed today. You dismissed the group and headed to change your outfit, the hoodie was all sweaty and it reeked of sweat too. After changing, you started packing up, your shoes were tucked into your clip-on mini shoe bag and the rest of your clothes were stuffed into your bag.
As you got down from the elevated stage, Oikawa approached you, his signature smirk playing on his lips. You rolled your eyes at him and attempted to walk away from the charming guy that stood in front of you. Despite how much you would deny it, you were attracted to Oikawa. However, you would never let yourself fall on your knees for him, Oikawa possessed the visuals of a radiating young deity, but he was no god. You could never imagine chasing after him, because you knew you never stood a chance, especially with his huge fanbase. "You looked really good up there darling." He said and a tinge of pink colored your cheeks. Oikawa Tooru complimented you, tis was beyond imagination. Who knew this narcissistic jerk was capable of compliments? "Did you enjoy staring? Liked what you saw?" You teased and continued walking, Oikawa adjusting his pace to keep up with you. Oikawa would admit it, he liked you since that day you encountered in the library. He admired your badass personality and comfortable vibes. It was as if he could act however he wanted to be when he was with you. He didn't have to be afraid of showing you his playfulness, he didn't have to hide his deepest thoughts, he was comfortable with you and he could let himself feel vulnerable when you were around. "In all honesty, I think I did. Expect me to be waiting for you after your performance with a bottle of water darling." Oikawa said and you laughed at his words.   "You know Oikawa, I'm not like your fangirls. I will not be easily swooned by your words." You said and Oikawa placed his hands on his hips, his head falling backwards. "I know darling. You're unlike any other. That's why I like you." He said and at that moment your heart exploded into tiny pieces. Oikawa and his dumb words always found a way to make you feel jittery. But you would never give in that easily to him. "You know, you should stop flirting so much Oikawa. It makes you seem like a heartbreaker, even if it's unintentional." You pointed out and Oikawa snorted at your comment. "You're the only one I flirt with darling." Oikawa said, grabbing your hand and intertwining your fingers with his. You sighed and didn't bother untangling it because he would just grab it again. "Stop messing with me Oikawa." You said and grabbed your phone to check on your messages. "I'm not, and for a second year, you're pretty confident in calling me without a senpai at the end." He says and you smiled, facing him and flicking his forehead with your index. "And for a senior, you're stooping on low levels to flirt with a junior." You countered and all he could do was laugh. You were unbelievable in his eyes; no girl could ever resist him the way you do. It riled him up and it made him want you even more. "I like you a lot Y/N. Just know that, you want to grab some dinner before heading home?" He offers and you smiled at him once again. Oikawa Tooru had your heart, but you would still play hard to get for a little while. Besides, free dinner was always good. So, both of you walked towards a nearby restaurant to enjoy some food, Oikawa's fingers still intertwined with yours. --The End--

Summary: “after everything we’ve been through we deserve a few mental break downs.” they are trying to recover after black mesa, but recovery is hard. especially when one of you is still dead
---------------
They had been out of Black Mesa for a few weeks now. It was difficult trying to acclimate to life after the incident, but they were all making it work.
The science team had gotten together for some sort of game night, something cathartic about being around others who share the same trauma. Anyways, snacks and Uno was just as chaotic as one would imagine with this group of chucklefucks, with competitive tensions high on the last round of the night.
“You can’t stack the draw 4 cards, Gordon,” Bubby argued, smacking Gordon’s hand just as he placed the card.
“Says who?”
“It’s literally against the fucking rules of the game,” Bubby said back.
Tommy agreed with, “It is in the official rules, Mr. Freeman, they- Mattel confirmed it on Twitter.”
“But that’s dumb!” Gordon argued back, “I’ve always played where you can stack those, why change that now?"
Bubby retorted, “Well maybe you’ve always been playing wrong, huh? Ever thought about that, smartass?”
Dr. Coomer chimed in with, “Well on the official page for Uno (card game) on Wikipedia, the free online encyclopedia that anyone can edit, it states that
The following official house rules are suggested in the Uno rulebook, to alter the game:
Progressive Uno: If a draw card is played, and the following player has the same card, they can play that card and "stack" the penalty, which adds to the current penalty and passes it to the following player.[4](Although a +4 cannot be stacked on a +2, or vice versa.)[6] This house rule is so commonly used that there was widespread Twitter surprise in 2019 when Mattel stated that stacking was not part of the standard rules of Uno.[6]”
“Well, there you have it,” Gordon exclaims, interrupting Coomer’s Wikipedia infodump, “Just because it’s a house rule doesn’t mean it’s not a legitimate way of playing."
“What if I don’t want to play with that rule, that’s fuckin stupid,” Bubby grumbles.
“Jesus ok, I'll play a different card, happy?” Gordon says dejectedly, taking back his controversial draw 4 card for a more innocuous one. “It’s your turn anyways.”
Bubby throws down his last card onto the pile. “I win fuckers!!!! Ahahahahaha!"
“You wouldn’t have won if you let me stack the fucking cards,” Gordon said as he threw his losing card pile onto the coffee table.
“Don’t fret Gordon! Bubby is just extremely good at card games,” Dr. Coomer replied.
“You're forgetting I’m a goddamn genius, that extends to my sick-ass Uno skills,” Bubby bragged.
Gordon chuckled, watching the two older scientists get up to leave, and watching Tommy remain, quietly cleaning up the uno deck into neat piles to place in its box.
“Well gentlemen, it’s been fun, though I think it’s time Bubby and I better get going!” Dr. Coomer said.
“No problem, don’t want you two to be late for your old man early-bird breakfast at Golden Corral tomorrow!” Gordon teased.
“Shut the fuck- I’ll kick your ass,” said Bubby.
“Hello Gord- Actually our old man breakfast is not until Saturday! It’s the one day a week I let loose and unhinge my jaws at the buffet like a Burmese Python!” said Dr. Coomer as Bubby grabs his coat and keys.
“That sounds absolutely horrifying,” Gordon laughs.
“It really is,” says Bubby. “Well, see you later asshole,” Bubby says, herding himself and Coomer out the front door.
“See you guys later,” Gordon says.
“Goodbye, Gordon! Goodbye, Tommy,” Coomer also says, before they leave Gordon’s apartment.
Tommy had yet to get up to leave, he stayed sitting in his seat staring into space, and fiddling with the Uno card deck.
“Hey Tommy, you alright man?” he asked gently. At the mention of his name, he was shaken a bit out of his stupor.
“Y-yeah I'm fine Mr. Freeman, why do you ask?”
“I mean you were kinda just staring into space for a bit, and you didn’t say anything when Bubby and Coomer left.”
“Oh shit. Sorry about that, I’ll get out of your hair,” Tommy said, starting to move to leave.
Gordon placed a hand on Tommy’s shoulder. “Hey, if something’s bothering you, just know I’m here if you wanna talk about it,” Gordon comforted.
Tommy blushed slightly at the contact and nodded.
“Thank you. I-uh… I’ve just been thinking about things that happened back in Black Mesa and, you know,” he pauses to think for a bit, and sighs, “honestly I’ve been thinking a lot about Benrey.”
Just at the mention of him, Gordon felt his stomach drop with the weight of too many emotions.
“Yeah...I uh… I understand,” he responds with a sad sigh, “anything in particular you’re thinking about him?”
“I don’t know just kind of- Earlier I started thinking about how much he would enjoy game night. And then I started to miss him and realize that- that he’s not here. I feel guilty about killing him and upset at what he did. He was still my friend and I just- I want to know why he did what he did. I just want to understand,” Tommy said.
Gordon looked away as he thought about his own emotions regarding Benrey. He was undeniably angry with him, for getting him ambushed by the bootboys, for getting his arm cut off, frustrated with the constant taunting. Yet… he also felt guilty for some reason and he couldn’t quite place why. Gordon really didn’t want to feel guilty.
“Yeah…” Gordon sighed, “I'll be honest I do feel guilty about it too. I don’t know why because I feel like it should be justified since he did try to kill us. But there were times when him pestering me about my arm felt like… like sincere questioning? I still… I don’t know.”
“Yeah… I think-” Tommy cut himself off, staring at a fixed point in his vision, trying to decide whether or not to bring this up.
“I don’t think Benrey understood how human mortality worked.”
Well, that wasn’t what Gordon expected. “What do you mean?”
“Well, he was from Xen, Mr. Freeman, he wasn’t human. It was different for him. You remember he did die several times, but he came back eventually. He had to wait for his form to regenerate.”
“Wait-” this time Gordon cut Tommy off, “Oh shit, that wasn’t a joke?  For some reason I just assumed his talking about respawns and shit was part of his Epic Gamer bit?”
“I mean it was a little but I think… there’s probably a reason Benrey attached himself to video games so much, yeah? He can see himself in the structure. Like, uh- something he can relate to.” Tommy says. “It doesn’t excuse what- what he did, but I feel like knowing why things happened makes- makes them more understandable.”
Gordon leaned back on the couch blown away by the revelation. In hindsight it wasn’t that surprising but it took him a few seconds to come to terms with the reality.
“Yeah, when you put it that way, I guess it does make a lot of sense. Wait though, I swear to god all of you have died at least once, but you guys aren’t from Xen?” Gordon said, now confused about the seeming metanarrative of the mortality of his friends.
“Yeah, but those were weird Black Mesa things, Mr. Freeman,” Tommy said, not elaborating any more than that.
Gordon waited a beat for Tommy to explain more but he said all he needed to.
“I will ask you more about that later, but I do not have the energy to unpack all that right now,” Gordon said with a gentle laugh.
“Wait, getting back on topic real quick, why couldn’t Benrey just... respawn now? Did we really get him that good?”
Tommy looked incredibly sad when Gordon said this, and he regretted it immediately.  ‘Damn it Gordon, Tommy’s clearly upset about Benrey, you don’t gotta be an insensitive dick.’
“Well Mr. Freeman, that’s kinda why I’ve been thinking about him,” Tommy said, “I’m not sure. It shouldn’t have taken him this long to respawn. Depending on the amount of damage it takes longer but… It’s been a while and what if- What if he is back but he is mad at all of us and that’s why we haven’t seen him? Or what if it is taking a really long time because we hurt him a whole lot. Or what if we…”
Tommy got quiet for a few seconds, the silence in the room was deafening. For an instance Gordon felt as if making a sound would shatter the air like glass.
Tommy finally said with a whisper, voice thick with choking back tears, “What if we killed him for good? And I don’t- I never see him again?”
It honestly broke Gordon’s heart how distraught Tommy was. Pushing his own complicated Benrey feelings aside, he was gonna focus on Tommy here and now.
“…Tommy, is it ok if I hug you, man?” Gordon couldn’t think of the best way to comfort the other man with words, but physical comfort he could do.
Tommy looked a little surprised at this ask but nodded. Gordon leaned in to hug the other scientist and Tommy collapsed in his embrace, completely breaking down.
Gordon just sat there and held him as Tommy sobbed into his shoulder, trying to comfort the crying man by rubbing circles into his back.
Gordon’s brain processed the things Tommy had said. Was Benrey really gone? Why did he feel guilty about the idea of having killed Benrey, he was fine with the concept during the final boss fight on Xen but now… the thought made him feel… sad? Regretful? Even his seemingly rational justifications didn’t seem as clear at the moment, only thinking of his fonder memories with Benrey.
‘Fuck this,’ he thought as he felt his own tears well up, ‘this isn’t about me, I need to focus on being there for Tommy,’ pushing his own feelings to the back of his mind to be dealt with later.
Tommy eventually calmed down enough where his sobs turned into sniffles, and he started to pull away from the hug.
“S – sorry for having a – a breakdown on your- on your couch Mr. Freeman,” Tommy said, the post-crying mental fog making his stuttering more noticeable. Tommy didn’t really have the effort in him to care.
“Don’t worry about it, man, after everything we’ve been through we deserve a few mental breakdowns,” Gordon joked trying to lighten the mood.
“Oh, that was nothing, Mr. Freeman, in terms of mental breakdowns that was as mild as a first-grade pizza party in the eye of a hurricane,” Tommy compared in a way that made little sense to Gordon, yet ridiculous enough to cause the man to burst out laughing.
“Alright I’ll take your word for it,” Gordon said, still laughing.
“I’m serious Mr. Freeman, once you have a meltdown so intense that you accidentally teleport yourself to an inter-dimensional void, the rest is a cake walk at the school fair,” Tommy said.
“Waitwaitwait- teleport?” he leaned back to look at him in surprise, “Since when could you fuckin teleport!” Gordon asked caught off guard.
“You know, learned some things from my Dad,” Tommy said, again failing to further explain himself.
“…Well alright. Yeah that tracks.”
Gordon was quiet for a moment before responding with, “You know, Tommy, I want you to know I’m here for you if you need anyone to talk to. You were there for me when I was at my lowest in Black Mesa, and I wanna be that friend to you if you need it,” he said giving the other scientists hand a comforting squeeze.
Tommy smiled, “Thank you, that means a lot Mr. Freeman.”
“You know you can call me Gordon, you don’t have to be so formal all the time Dr. Coolatta,” he teased.
Tommy blushed, ‘dammit why did he have to be so cute?’
“Wow Mr. Fr – Gordon are you really gonna make fun of my doctorate that I worked very hard for,” Tommy teased back, still a bit sniffly from crying.
“Dude, I cannot imagine you in college for some reason, what was your doctorate even in” asked Gordon, semi-jokingly, but still a bit serious.
Tommy laughed a bit, wiping the remaining tears away with the back of his hand. “Bio-chemical engineering. Creating Sunkist was for my thesis project.” Normally Tommy would be more then willing to infodump about the topic but he found his energy to be draining fast.
“What the fuck, that’s cooler than mine was. Us nerds in the Theoretical Physics department didn’t do any crazy shit like that,” Gordon said.
“Bold of you to assume I was a nerd, G-Gordon. I was the craziest guy in the frat house,” Tommy said.
Gordon’s memory vaguely recalls Tommy’s insistence that he “do something crazy” when drinking Darnold’s Potion of Grow Gun Arm.
“You know what, yeah, surprisingly I can see that image vividly in my head,” Gordon said. “Real talk though…” he said changing the subject and putting his hand on Tommy’s shoulder, “Are you- uh, ok? Like feeling better?”
Tommy was quiet for a second, eyes flickering down to look at his fidgeting hands in his lap, before replying with, “I’m ok. N-not great, I don’t think, but I will be.”
Gordon nodded. “Tommy, if there’s one nugget of wisdom that I have to share, it’s that healing takes time, things usually turn out to be ok in the end. No matter what’s going on with Benrey…it'll be alright, I’m sure.” Gordon patted his shoulder for emphasis, “not the best advice out there but it’s the best I can come up with straight off the dome. And I don’t wanna seem like I didn’t try to help you out."
Tommy laughed gently, “Thank you Mr. Fr- uh, thank you Gordon. You did help. Even if- if your advice was a bit cheesy.”
“Whatever man, you can’t blame me for trying,” Gordon laughed, playfully shoving Tommy where his hand had previously rested on the other man’s shoulder. Tommy laughed in return. He only noticed the warmth of Gordon’s touch once it was gone.
Tommy absentmindedly noticed the time on the wall clock in Gordon’s apartment. Jesus, 11:30? When did it get so late? The older scientist really hoped he wasn’t overstaying his welcome; While he would love to just stay here and joke around, he had already bothered Mr. Freeman enough and was already exhausted.
“I- I’m probably gonna head back home now, I didn’t realize how late it was,” Tommy said, standing up from his spot next to Gordon.
Gordon nodded. He had the passing thought of offering for Tommy to stay but… maybe that was a step too far. ‘Tommy probably wants his space,’ Gordon rationalized to himself.
He nodded, “Alright, don’t let me keep you,” he said, getting up as well to help Tommy gather his belongings. Which, to be honest Tommy didn’t bring much but some snacks for the group, but Gordon just needed an excuse to do anything.
Gordon walked Tommy to the front door of his apartment, like the good host he was, opening the door for him.
“Thanks for coming over Tommy,” he said.
Tommy nodded. “Thank- thank you again for letting me talk about Benrey, I know it was kinda rough there at the end, but if you ever need to talk about anything… I'm here for you as well.”
Gordon smiled, “Thank you Tommy, I'll keep that in mind.”
Tommy smiled in return, “Have a good night G-Gordon,” he said turning to head to his car.
“Goodnight Tommy.” Gordon turns to head back inside, but before he does, he can’t resist one more jab.
“Thought you could teleport?” he calls out teasingly.
Tommy flips him off, which causes Gordon to laugh harder. “Gives me a headache,” Tommy called back, trying and failing keep a straight face.
Gordon laughs as he waves a final goodbye, turning back inside and closing the door after Tommy waves as well. His thoughts race as he gets ready for bed, trying to ignore his fluttering heartbeat as he lays down for the night.
Tommy shuffles his thoughts in his head as he drives home. The emotional rollercoaster of his already draining social interaction meter from the science team, his Benrey guilt, and his small crush on Gordon was just too much for one day. His hands clench and unclench the steering wheel, looking forward to collapsing in bed for the night, hoping his dad won’t notice he'd been crying.
Somewhere, in an interdimensional void far away from this reality, someone begins to shift awake.

Tumblr media
villager!fem!s/o with Senku in the hostage situation headcanon
It’s a bright and sunny day where it’s the perfect weather to fabricate their next invention that he had planned to defeat Tsukasa’s Empire. As usual, Senku gave them different tasks to start their work for the day.
However, unbeknownst to you, the science team plus Gen had something up under their sleeves. Kohaku even joined at the mentalist’s idea since it’s a perfect opportunity to get you and Senku together. Of course, he immediately discovered that you both held feelings for each other since we’re talking about Gen here; he’s a mentalist for goodness sake! He can point out your feelings and what’s in your mind because for he who studies psychology. Also, it’s really obvious on the way you act to each other, despite that your feelings are mutual, neither of you had the guts to tell one another and too oblivious to decipher it because of the fact that Senku’s full attention is on science and he doesn’t want to get distracted by his feelings, more importantly, he sucks when it comes to romanticism. And for you, well you just don’t have the courage to tell your feelings to the scientist.
Therefore, Kohaku managed to sneak into Senku’s lab and captured him with the help of the sack and carried him to the place where Gen had told her. Once the lioness reached the designated area, she threw Senku inside the abandoned hut of their village where you’re also at.
“What the hell is going on?!” Senku yelled and Gen immediately closed the door and locked it.
“Senku?” Once Senku heard your voice, his body went rigid and removed the sack away from him. He turned his gaze to you whose eyes were blindfolded and hands being tied. This shocked Senku a bit and he hurriedly untied your hands and removed your blindfold.
When he finally freed the cloth covering your eyes, his red coloured orbs met yours, staring into your eyes as if he was searching much deeper into your captivating gaze, as if like a he’s in a cave digging deeper to know the mysteries that lie ahead. The two of you didn’t tear your gazes and just stared into each other with the fast beating of your hearts. But the little sweet moment was interrupted by Gen’s teasing voice outside the hut.
“Senku-chan, (Name)-chan, you two are our hostages now, this hostage scene will be over until tomorrow. So enjoy your stay there!” Gen’s mocking voice echoed as it was slowly dying down, hearing the footsteps of the others as well.
Senku already knew on what his comrades were up to; specifically, he knew whose idea this was. It’s none other than the mentalist, Asagiri Gen. because he’s the only one who knows that Senku likes you, now everyone already knows it too but you. He knows as to why they had trapped you here in this abandoned hut, they want him to confess his feelings that he bears for you since Gen was pestering him almost every day. Which Senku instantly refused due to the fact that he’s a busy man and he’s not yet ready to enter in a relationship where he’s still working on his goal to rebuild civilization.
“Damn, that mentalist…” Senku muttered as he faced his back at you. He wants to avoid your intoxicating gaze and the awkward atmosphere inside the hut that was overwhelming, making him feel uneasy and apprehensive.
Every time you’re around he doesn’t know why he’s being self-conscious and cold sweats appearing on his head in all of a sudden. He could even feel his heart rate intensifying whenever you would just hold him and compliment him. You have no idea how he couldn’t help himself from grinning wide every time you would praise him.
But even though he admitted to himself that he indeed have feelings for you, he won’t ever admit it to you, because Senku knows that you don’t feel the same. How can a beautiful and kind-hearted like you would fall for some lanky guy and a nerd like him? There are more handsome than him in the village and he doesn’t deserve you, you’re too much for him.
“Senku… I’m sorry if you were being dragged to this mess…” you muttered while fiddling your fingers and looking down. This caught his attention and peered over you who have this crestfallen expression that made his heart throbbed for a moment.
“I know, this is Gen’s scheme to lock us up here because he won’t stop until I confess my… my feelings that I have for you…” you looked down, hiding your blushing face from the scientist,
Hearing your statement rendered him stunned. He’s staring at you with wide eyes while jaw-dropping, still absorbing the words you had said. Did he hear it right? You have feelings for him? Is he hallucinating or what? Is he dreaming right now? Because this dream looks so real that it was making him feel ecstatic yet scared at the same time. But in all honesty, he wants it to be real.
“What?” was the word that slipped from his mouth. Lifting your chin to meet his gaze, you sucked a breath once your eyes landed on his captivating crimson orbs that were seemingly gleaming in this dim hut.
“ I—I love you, Senku… and I know you don’t feel the same way so it’s really fine,” you assured and forced a smile.
Senku merely pursed his lips and loudly swallowed, his brain was a mess, and he’s having a dilemma whether he should use his brain or his heart first. He was feeling happy, not gonna lie, but if he’s going to choose, of course, he wants to pick his brain and think logically. However, his mind recalled the day where Gen had told him that even if he confessed his feelings for you, nothing’s gonna change; especially you’re not the type of person who’s nosy and would bother someone.
Gen told him how you wanted to be useful in his kingdom of science, even if you couldn’t keep up with his words, you still wanted to help, by all means.
Senku had finally decided. His once shocked expression switched into a gentle one and look at you with fondness coating those magnificent red eyes of his.
‘It won’t be bad if I try,’ he thought.
The scientist dragged himself towards you and chuckled once he’s now in front of you. The two of you stared into each other’s eyes as if the time had slowed down and the world was only revolving around the two of you.
Momentarily, Senku glided his hands on your cheeks and tenderly caresses it as if you were the most precious gem that he had ever held.
“You know, relationships are illogical and they are troublesome, but… I won’t know if I try, right?” Surprisingly, Senku’s voice was soft, the first time you have ever heard him speaking in a gentle manner. “And who says that I don’t have feelings for you as well? The feelings mutual, idiot…” Senku rested his forehead against yours and softly snickered.
“Who would have thought that a logical man like me would waver with as illogical as love? I like you as well, (Name).”
And suddenly, Senku kissed your forehead, feeling your heartbeats pounding vigorously inside your chests.
The next day, Gen and the others had finally unlocked the hut to see what happened to both of you.
“Senku-chan, (Name)-chan, wha—“ Gen didn’t finish his sentence once his eyes landed on the both of you, sleeping while snuggling to each other. Senku’s arms were wrapped around your waist as your left leg was on Senku’s.
Gen smirked, finding out that his idea is a success. Before Ginro and Chrome can peek inside, the mentalist rapidly closed the door and spun his body to face the others.
“It’s best if we leave the two love birds, don’t forget to congratulate them once they woke up,” he snickered.
And that being said, once you both woke up, all of them had congratulated you and Senku, making the pair of you to be a blushing mess.
