Don't you hate when you have a ff idea and start writting it, but the chapter writes itself and goes in a totally different direction than you would want and you get mad cuz that's not how you wanted things to go but you have to roll with it now. *looking angrily at my document*

PSA: tomatoes are not spicy. Tomatoes and tomato products should not be spicy. Pizza sauce isn't inherently spicy. Tomato-based pasta sauce is not spicy. Ketchup is NOT spicy.
If tomatoes are spicy, you have an allergy to tomatoes.
This announcement brought to you by my almost 29-year-old husband learning for the first time in his 2.8 decades of putting food products into his mouth that spaghetti and saucy pizza aren't spicy foods

Just saw someone on Twitter complain about the lack of Japanese people in Oppenheimer, and what did you expect??? Did you want the final act to be the bomb dropping and see people burning alive???
The reason why we don't see a Japanese perspective is because one, including a Japanese perspective, just to see how bad the suffering was would be exploitation. Two, to see an accurate and sensitive take on how the japanese felt about Oppenheimer, Christopher Nolan (as incredible as he is) isn't the right person to do this. And three, it's based on Oppenheimer's biography
Oppenheimer, the movie, literally shows you people (mostly the superiors, because by the middle/end of it you see Oppenheimer regretting his creation) doing something dubious and inhumane because they removed themselves away, both emotionally and physically, from the people they are hurting.
Nagasaki and Hiroshima only exist in those men's distant thoughts and imaginations. One guy literally asks to take a city off the bombing because that's where he had his honeymoon. It's disturbing and unsettling, as if those people were not real human beings. The lack of Japanese people drives the entire point home.
Also, Japanese cinema is right there. Barefoot Gen, Grave of the Fireflies, or Hiroshima (responsible for showing to many Americans the effects of the bombs for the first time) are just a few of the many, many decades of post-war Japanese movies we have

To other sex-repulsed people: Please understand that your repulsion towards sex is your own issue to deal with. Understand that sex is important to a lot of people (you don't have to understand why, just simply that it is), and understand that it's not okay to treat sex as a bad thing simply because it exists and you're repulsed towards it.
It's completely fine to vent about your friend talking in great depth about their sex life when it repulses you (and maybe tell them that it makes you uncomfortable and you don't want to hear about it) or for any reason for that matter, but don't talk about how much you hate sex in front of the people who find it a positive thing because you'll just end up being seen as someone who kills the fun. It doesn't seem fair, I know, but there are lots of places you can talk about this without upsetting people who enjoy it.
And to non-sex-repulsed people: Please understand that we need a space to air our repulsion to sex. If anything we say isn't directly aimed towards you specifically and it upsets you, then maybe consider that this space just isn't for you. Not everyone has the same positive feelings towards sex that you do, and we have just as much right to talk about how we dislike sex as you have to talk about how much you like sex.
And everyone needs to understand that it's possible to have negative feelings about sex —and to talk about these feelings— without it automatically being sex negativity.

Broken Roofs and Fixed Perspectives
[First] Prev <–-> Next
#poorly drawn mdzs#mdzs#xue yang#xiao xingchen#Lots of cut content notes on this one. Lets all have a moment of silence for all the cut A-Qing's in each perspective.#particularly ripped and buff 'Daozhang Defender 'A-Qing (her perspective)#funny but poor layout#XY also had a red arrow pointed at him in his own POV that said 'just troubled' but it made the panel too cluttered.#He does see himself as troubled and uses that to justify his actions#but I also think there is room for him to not really know exactly how to feel about himself in this situation#Yi-city is such a fantastic tragedy for so many reasons and you will bear witness to me rambling about it in the tags as this arc continues#Helping a blind man fix a roof? A manipulative act of building trust or genuine display of wanting to collaberate?#XY and A-qing have experience of the cruelty of the world where as xxc has blind (haha) faith that kindness prevails#These three simultaneous know each other more than the other's think and *yet* completely miss the mark.#the stories they tell in the blizzard (and the reactions they have) so perfectly display who these characters are#Both xxc and xy tell stories about unfair cruelty. To xxc it is others who's suffering is highlighted. XY highlight's his own.#A-qing understands xue yang more that she wants to admit. She predicts the twists in xy's story and empathizes with the hurt and anger#A-qing is also taking advantage of xxc! She is also lying to survive!#Though shes mostly benign in her intentions. She really did vibe check the rank stank on XY's soul on the spot#Alas...no one listens to teen girls....

Sonic fandom, if we could muster enough energy to get Paramount to fix ugly Sonic for his crimes of being ugly, then we can muster that same energy to get them to fire James Marsden from all future Sonic Movie projects after 3 for his crimes of writing a letter defending a self-admitted child rapist and then not bothering to say as much as "I shouldn't have done that, my bad" almost a month after his defense of said child rapist was made public. We can do this. I believe in us.

i often think about how mc literally carries this entire family
imagine mc never talks about their feelings or seeks help because if they fall apart, the brothers fall apart too [in a worse way even] so the side characters confront them and mc snaps finally
and Barbatos scolding the brothers. I NEED that in my life 😭😭
Ahhh me too, my friend! I love when Barb gets strict and scolds people lol. What does this say about me? I have no idea and I refuse to look into it further.
Anyway, I think part of the issue is that MC has to be a somewhat generic character. So they never really go into how MC is coping, they just say MC can handle it all because MC is amazing! MC does it without even trying! Because that works best for the story.
But it'd be far more realistic to assume that MC has a more intense reaction to all the stuff they do. They definitely hold up all the brothers, without MC they lose their minds. And it would be so easy for an MC to be like okay I can never falter. I must be the strong person they all say I am because if I'm not, they'll crumble. Which is quite a lot of pressure.
And the side characters are in a unique position because while they care deeply about MC, they aren't as dependent on them. Which is perhaps why I like the side characters so much. They feel like they're more than just beings that exist for MC to take care of. But anyway, they have that sort of outside perspective that would allow them to see MC in a way the brothers can't. They might pick up on the fact that MC is suppressing everything in an effort to be the strong one keeping the family together.
Therefore, I think any one of them could say hey MC are you doing okay? We're worried about you. I could see them all getting together and doing it as a group and then MC loses their shit.
But imagine if just one of them did it? Like in a moment of solitude with any of them and having them just say hey I'm worried about you are you okay? And MC just starts sobbing or something.
If it was Barbatos, you can be sure he would then proceed to keep MC at the castle for an untold amount of time while he takes care of them until they're feeling better again. Before he even thinks about letting MC go back to the HoL, he's going over there to inform the brothers of how they must act going forward. It's a lecture they won't forget any time soon lol. God I love him so much.

you know, the placement of both hugs buck and tommy shared are kinda…wild. because in both of them…buck is facing eddie.
like we don’t exactly see eddie watching them or anything, and yeah he might be tipsy in the second one, but i think it’s a lil telling for them to have buck’s expression turned towards eddie in these hugs.
the first, when he sees the contentment on buck’s face when he and tommy tip their heads together in a hug that lingers a beat too long to be platonic much like some of the hugs buck and eddie have shared but i digress
the second, when he sees the clear disappointment on buck’s face at tommy leaving, and the intimate way tommy holds his neck and the way buck’s palm rubs against tommy’s back before he calls out for him to be safe.
and maybe we didn’t get to see exactly what eddie’s looking at/thinking about but i think there’s a little bit of a tie-in with the way the camera specifically pans to the proud, sparkling look eddie gives buck after he and tommy show up with march in soot-stained faces in that eddie’s genuinely happy for him - his eyes literally follow buck around the room. he sees how invested buck is in tommy, and it feels different to other partners and idk. it’s just a choice to have eddie as the main witness of buck and tommy is all i’m getting at here
