Finding my Paris routine
Tumblr media
My summer routine back home typically consists of waking up around 10 a.m., the occasional coffee or Target run, heading to work, and watching Criminal Minds before bed (very eventful, I know). Coming to Paris, I knew my routine would not nearly be the same. Upon arrival it was essential I find my Paris routine.
One fairly smooth plane ride later, my friends (who had been on the same flight) and I were transported to local housing, where we faced the looming challenge of discovering how we were going to live for the next 6 weeks. The three of us were housed in studios, one friend in a single and the other friend and I in a double, one of the options included in the program fee. After a few days I will say that I highly recommend the studio—it is relatively spacious and comes with nearly everything one could need: 2 beds, 2 desks, a closet, a kitchenette, and our own bathroom. The only stipulation is that you must provide your own food, which I don’t mind because I feel it contributes to the experience of ‘living as a local,’ per se.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It therefore follows that the first part of the routine we had to establish upon arrival was our weekly shopping trips. Our studio being in the 20th arrondissement, the easternmost district of Paris quite some distance from its most ‘touristy’ areas, our local supermarché Franprix made a quick and reasonably priced choice for our first shopping trip. Now that we’ve stocked up on all the essentials—pasta, bread, eggs, cheese, fruits, and veggies—cooking for one another has become a fun way to avoid the costs of constantly eating out.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It was not until the start of class two days upon arrival that we truly began to establish a daily routine. For myself and both friends, Calculus 3 from 12:30-2:30 p.m. forced us to begin to structure our days into the ‘time before’ and the ‘time after’ class. Additionally, with classes housed at our partner program’s academic building an approximately 45-minute (walk + metro) trip from our studio, we had little to no choice but to invest in a metro pass to make this commute feasible. The cheapest and simplest option for the number of weeks it would be in use ended up being the monthly pass, which has already provided for plenty of exploring during our free time.
Tumblr media
The ‘time before’ class has now begun to consist of quick café or boulangerie stops during the walking part of our journey, a little pick-me-up before the two hours of math to follow. The ‘time after’ has been filled with larger and lengthier trips: museums, sightseeing, you name it!

Here are a couple of my favorite stops from this week:
-Starbucks Opéra, the first Parisian Starbucks, housed in a beautiful building over 3 centuries old!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
-Le Centre Pompidou, Paris’ one-of-a-kind modern art museum
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
-Le Petit Prince store, filled with all sorts of souvenirs inspired by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry’s most famous book
Tumblr media
-And of course, La Tour Eiffel!!!

My first weekend in Paris allowed for a bit of break from routine and for more free time to simply do, well, whatever we wanted! As for my friends and I, this was enjoying a restful Saturday followed by a busy Sunday enjoying the beautiful weather and city.
Some weekend highlights:
-Brunch (and the cutest cappuccino) at Sunday in Soho, located in Paris’ 2nd arrondissement
Tumblr media Tumblr media
-Visit to le Jardin des Tuileries and le Jardin du Luxembourg (weather was PERFECT for this!)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
-Dior Galerie, providing a fantastic look into the history of one of the city’s most famous designers
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Despite having left some room for spontaneity, having established somewhat of a routine over the course of my first week in Paris has helped me to feel at ease during my transition to life in another country and all the more eager to take on what is to come. I cannot wait to share the rest of my adventures with you!
À tout !!!

Shouto Todoroki comes in every day: rain, hail or shine.
You and the others of the café have mostly grown immune his fame, by now, though the commotion he can cause is a little harder to ignore. Sometimes, if you’re both unlucky, a crowd will gather at the sight of him—blocking the counters off and annoying everyone else in the shop. It’s always the same combination of younger kids, star-struck teenagers—or tourists. Most locals, used to Shouto and his ilk, will see the Pro strolling in for his order and leave him to it, give him the right of normalcy. It helps, you think to yourself wrly, that Shouto Todoroki is infamous for being completely unhinged with both his fan encounters and any kind of traditional media.
“Good morning,” he greets you, formally. “I’d like two large Eye-Scream lattes today, please.”
The Eye-Scream latte—Starcups’ Halloween special. You smile to yourself, ringing the purchase up as your coworker shoots you a jealous look. Shouto Todoroki tips well.
“Any special requests today?” You ask. It’s been about a month since he’s discovered he can ask for cup art, and get it—the lot of you climbing over yourselves to make the Pro Hero smile with your doodles, your careful illustrations. Daisuke, your manager, put all of you to shame the other week with his careful, biro rendering of an old manga panel.
But it’s fun; Shouto looks thoughtful, delighting you. You like that he takes this just as seriously as the rest of you do.
“You’ve been drawing those cats for me,” the Pro hero points out. “Can you draw another?”
Something fizzles within you, glowing, at this. “Yeah,” you say, trying not to be too eager. “yeah, I totally can!!”
Shouto smiles at you, warm and small, and you think—you think you’d march off a bridge if this man told you to.
Your friend makes the lattes, pouting at you when you give her the cups, your drawing done. “This is so unfair,” she complains, “he always talks to you!”
You duck behind the coffee machine and jeer at her. “Eat shit!”
She kicks at you in revenge, and you try not to laugh as Shouto waits, oblivious.
“Who do you think he’s getting the coffees for?” Your friend asks, as she finishes one.
You pretend to wipe down an already clean counter, and shrug. “I always thought it was like, Deku or someone.”
Giggling, your friend whispers, “Dynamight.”
You try to picture Dynamight, Japan’s Fury, drinking one of your lattes—with one of your little cats on it, and can’t.
You’re still trying to picture it when Shouto’s order is ready; you present the tray to him and smile up at the man as he moves to collect them.
“I hope you and your friend enjoy your coffees,” you tell him.
Gray and blue eyes flicker down to the cups; to the Shouto-like cat you’ve drawn, sitting with its eyes closed, dreaming of fish.
“We will,” he says, smiling at you—amused, now, like he knew what you were trying to do. “Thank-you.”
Behind you, one of the others giggles nervously. You decide that next time, when you have the chance, you’ll draw two cats; curled up together, napping like they’re in the sun.

Relationships: Jungkook x Seokjin x Yoongi Genre: smut, fluff Rating: Explicit Word Count: ~8.4k

Summary: The local video game arcade owner is in love with the local barista who is also in love with the local baker. What could go wrong?
A/N: Third Kinktober fic, day 5: foodplay
Friendly competition was healthy, normal, and expected from successful business owners with shops near to one another. It only made sense that the two best coffee shops on the same street would have a friendly rivalry, or that the local bakery would compete with the nearby diner serving fresh cakes. What wasn’t normal, and not expected, was the local bakery in such a cutthroat competition with the local arcade.
It wasn’t even really about the products, of course. Individuals routinely purchased snacks or lunch from Seokjin, the owner and baker at History in the Baking – the best bakery in town by any local’s standards, then stopped in two doors down to play a few video games, often with Jungkook, the owner of the Golden Closet; a newer, but booming arcade. There was no loss in business and nothing forcing the rivalry.
Nothing, that was, except Deja Brew, the small café and coffee shop nestled directly between the two businesses. Really, it was because of the owner of the shop, one Min Yoongi.
Yoongi was everyone’s favorite. He liked to put on a grumpy front, often standing out in front of his rather adorable little shop as it opened at 6:37am sharp (he said, because 6:30 is too damn early, and what person wants coffee as late as 7:00am, really?) But it wasn’t real. No, the short, sweet faced grump was really as gentle as could be. He gave the bleary-eyed children of busy moms small sweets and volunteered with local charities. He often worked with Seokjin to make sure no product went to waste; every few days he and Jin would gather up near expiry products – Jin’s baked goods and breads and coffee beans that hadn’t sold, and Yoongi would drive them over to the nearby homeless shelter for breakfasts for the needy.
This was where Jin first realized that he’d fallen truly head over heels for the barista. The only problem he had was that he wasn’t sure if Yoongi liked him back, or if he was even into men. And the idea of ruining the both friendship and business cooperation they had was more terrifying than keeping silent.
Jungkook, on the other hand, knew almost immediately that he wanted to ask Yoongi on a date. The first week he’d moved into the empty space next to Yoongi’s shop, he’d wandered in, exhausted from an all nighter getting things up and running and just needing a quick pick me up. He’d expected something like a fancy Starbucks – in and out and perhaps a misspelled name on the cup to boot. What he’d gotten instead was a very concerned Yoongi herding him to a booth and a warm breakfast; the most delicious oatmeal he’d ever tasted, along with a rich, sweet coffee that made his toes curl and his heart skip. Though, maybe the heart skipping was more Yoongi’s doing than the coffee. Yes, Jungkook knew he’d been swept off his feet. His problem however was that despite being told he was handsome and being quite boisterous and loud in regards to his friends… Once someone he fancied came near, he clammed up; closing himself off and barely speaking more than a few words to the person. Which was what happened with Yoongi.
And Yoongi – for all his attention paid to customers, bills, and the local news – had no idea that he was being courted after by his two neighbors. When their rivalry picked up, Jungkook had blocked Jin’s back door for nearly three hours with a large truck first off; then Jin had had a whole pallet of flour ‘misdelivered’ to Jungkook’s door – he assumed they were old friends, or old enemies. Perhaps exes that were out to get one another. It wasn’t his problem, and he had no care about how they handled their rivalry – just as long as he wasn’t dragged into it.
Seven months, it went on. Seven entire months of petty pranks and murmured name-calling and generally annoyed glares between Jungkook and Jin. And then it happened.
Jungkook was early in to the arcade. It was nearly 6:15, but the sun was shining and he was feeling particularly good. He’d spent the evening out with an old friend who had encouraged him to ask Yoongi out before someone (Jin) did.
He walked past Jin’s shop, glancing in. He could see a few lights on in the back; Jin was always in early, working on his day to day treats. Despite his annoyance with Jin, he had to admit, the man was an excellent baker. And what was more, he was frankly stunning. Tall and broad, slender, with the face of a God – if Jungkook wasn’t so taken with Yoongi he may have gone after Jin. His custom pastries and cakes were stunning and elaborate, and his simple day to day cookies and pastries were always a hit. Rivalry or not, Jungkook knew good sweets, and that man’s were to die for.
He passed the bakery without lingering too long and glanced into the front window of the café. Much to his surprise, the main lights were on; Yoongi normally kept them off until opening time. He looked a little closer, and his stomach did a tight little flip. Yoongi was sitting at one of the tables, sipping coffee… With Seokjin.
They were laughing, and Jin reached over, brushing the tips of his fingers over Yoongi’s cheek. Jungkook saw red. It wasn’t fair. He reached up, ready to tap on the glass, draw Yoongi’s attention, anything. He froze though. What right did he have? He hadn’t made his move on Yoongi fast enough – that was on him. He sighed softly and shook his head, hurrying past the café before one of them caught him peering in like a pervert.
Jungkook tried to ignore the ache he felt as he worked, but every time his mind drifted, it went to what he saw that morning. Was it what he had assumed? Were they just friends? He had to find out. He slipped out under the guise of an early lunch break, entering Deja Brew.
Yoongi was behind the counter, looking stunning as always. He looked up and grinned. “Afternoon, Kook. What can I get you?”
“Whatever you think is good,” Jungkook said, settling in one of the tables. “You know I trust your opinion here.”
“Coming up.”
The shop was empty; Jungkook knew it wouldn’t start getting busy again until about noon. It was nice; he could watch Yoongi working without others wondering what was wrong with him. Yoongi circled around to the table with a tray, setting a sandwich in front of Jungkook along with a coffee.
“Mind if I join you? Grab my own lunch before the real lunch rush.”
“Of course not,” Jungkook grinned, trying not to sound too excited at the prospect.
Yoongi set a similar meal down on the other side and hurried the tray back to the counter before sliding in across from Jungkook.
Jungkook took a bite, groaning happily. “This is amazing.”
“Apple sausage with fresh veggies. I managed to get some really great products at the farmer’s market this weekend, and Jin gave me a deal on the bread. Nobody does these little sandwich loaves like he does.”
The smile slid from Jungkook’s face. He tried to replace it, ignoring the twist in his gut. Well, this was what he came for; might as well rip the bandage off. “You and Jin are pretty close, huh?”
“I think so,” Yoongi said casually, taking a bite of his sandwich.
“How long have you two been…” He drifted off. Yoongi’s brows furrowed for a moment. He swallowed the bite in his mouth.
“Been friends? About a year. We met a few months before you joined our little shop front.”
“No… Dating,” Jungkook clarified.
Yoongi coughed, laughing after taking a swig of coffee. “Dating? No, no. Jin and I aren’t dating. I’d love to but… He’s not into me that way.”
“Are you kidding? He’s obsessed with you,” Jungkook said without thinking, wanting immediately to kick himself. “I saw you two this morning when I was walking to my arcade. I figured… You know… It was a date.”
Yoongi chuckled and shook his head. “I’ll take your word for it, but no… We were just having breakfast.” He hesitated. “Do you really think he likes me?”
Jungkook snorted. “He adores you. I mean, why wouldn’t he? You’re funny and smart and one of the most caring guys in this town. Plus you make amazing coffee, you’re independent. And you’re handsome as hell and I—” He froze, realizing Yoongi was staring at him, eyes wide.
“I—I just mean you two are a good match,” he mumbled.
“I appreciate the plethora of compliments, but no we aren’t.” Yoongi chuckled. “Jin’s damn near a model.”
“He really is. I’ve never seen someone with such broad shoulders that doesn’t look weird. And his smile…” Jungkook shook his head, smiling a little. “He’s stunning. But you are too.”
“Well, maybe I’ll ask him out. But… I don’t think he’d be into my lifestyle.”
Jungkook’s brows raised. He twitched his head to the side, mouth pursing. When Yoongi didn’t continue, he nudged him with his foot under the table.
“Lifestyle?”
“It’s… Very hard to explain.”
“If it’s not comfortable, I didn’t mean—”
“No, it’s not that. I am comfortable with it. I just wish others were,” Yoongi mumbled.
“It sounds intriguing… I’ll listen without judging, you know me.”
Yoongi smiled softly. “You do have a knack for that, don’t you?” He sighed. “I’m not… Comfortable in traditional relationships. I never have been.”
“Like sexually?”
“Oh no, no. I’ve always been very sexual being. No, I mean traditional monogamy. I believe in faithfulness and I abhor cheaters… But for me the traditional two-person relationship is dull and unfulfilling. It’s like… I feel like I have so much love to give and no matter how much I give to the other person there’s this space missing.” He sighed again. “It’s very hard to explain to folks.”
“You feel like the true way to be happy in a relationship is to have more than one partner?” Jungkook clarified.
“For me, yes. I’m not disparaging traditional relationships, I just… When I date someone, I feel like there’s still this gap there, waiting to be filled by a third party. And it doesn’t matter to me whether that third is dating my first partner, or if they’re just dating me, or even if they’re dating someone else that I’m not dating, I’m okay with any combination, I just… I need to have more than what traditional monogamy can give me.”
“I get it,” Jungkook said, nodding. He sipped his coffee as he thought, processing the information. “I don’t see anything wrong with what you feel. You still love and believe in being faithful; I’m guessing seeking a third partner, or a fourth or however many would be something that you’d discuss with your partner originally.”
“Oh of course, but therein lies the problem. The majority of people don’t understand this mindset. They hear something about wanting another partner and insecurity crops up. Are they not good enough, do they not satisfy, am I falling out of love with them and there’s really no way to explain to a person who sees things in the traditional way.”
Jungkook nodded. He scowled at the remnants of his sandwich in thought, trying to put himself in Yoongi’s shoes, or in the shoes of someone Yoongi might be dating.
“It’s gonna catch fire if you laser focus any more on that bread,” Yoongi joked, his voice a little tense. Jungkook looked up. “Oh, sorry.” He laughed. Yoongi looked as tense as he sounded, and Jungkook wondered if he was waiting for a sort of negativity about what he’d just confessed.
“I was thinking about the type of relationship you described.”
“Oh?”
“Yeah, trying to put myself in that place – the mind of someone you might be dating who you told this to.”
“What’s the verdict? Would you dump me?” Yoongi laughed as he spoke, but it didn’t reach his eyes. Jungkook shook his head no.
“When I think about it, I don’t deny my initial thought would be to ask if you were happy – I feel like that’s everyone’s gut response. We were raised in a monogamy preferred society, so it’s just… Natural to think that way. Not right, of course… We were also raised in a heterosexual society and I think it’s pretty clear that’s bullshit.”
Yoongi and Jungkook both chuckled at that. Jungkook continued.
“But I think if you explained that you were, and how you just told me about it, I think I’d get it. I would want to be with you in the process though. I don’t think I’d be comfortable with my partner seeking out another person without me. That would feel too much like hiding or cheating. But I think if we went together and met folks, or even had a person in mind that you wanted to ask, I’d want to like them too. Maybe not as much as I liked you, but some sort of friendship or agreement that you’d be good together, if that makes sense.”
Yoongi was silent for a long time after Jungkook spoke. He couldn’t figure out his expression. There were subtle shifts in it, and sometimes Yoongi looked close to tears, other times happy, and blank. Jungkook wanted to ask what he was thinking, or if he’d said something wrong, but didn’t want to push Yoongi into answering if he was still processing.
So he went back to eating, finishing the last of his sandwich and sipping the sweet coffee while he waited. He looked outside, watching the traffic pass through the window. Some familiar faces passed by, likely heading into his arcade next door. He should head back at some point soon, he’d left Taehyung in charge, which was fine in the short term, but Taehyung had a way of getting too up in his head or too hyperfocused on one thing – so it was best to have a second person there to bring him back to reality.
Jungkook was just about to clear his throat and call it a meeting when Yoongi looked up suddenly, meeting his gaze.
“Jungkook…”
“What?” Jungkook laughed a little, the intensity of Yoongi’s gaze startling. Not to mention, arousing; he’d never been looked at like that before. At least… Not by anyone he liked back.
“I’m in my late twenties,” Yoongi began, finally breaking the gaze to gather their plates. “And I’ve known this about myself since I was very young… Thirteen, fourteen maybe?” He rose, holding the plates and his empty cup. “In all that time I’ve never had someone respond how you just did. Taking the time to process and try to understand and… Get it. Maybe not think the same way as me but… Be able to offer me an answer that wasn’t going to break my heart. That would let me and them be happy.”
“I—”
Yoongi shook his head, his mouth curling up into a bright, gummy smile. “You asked about Jin because you’re jealous, didn’t you?”
Jungkook felt his cheeks burn with embarrassment. He lowered his gaze, nodding softly. “That’s weird, huh?” He mumbled.
“I think it’s cute.” Yoongi leaned down, his breath warm on Jungkook’s ear. “And I think you’re cute Jeon Jungkook.” He shifted, pressing a quick kiss to Jungkook’s cheek before standing upright.
Jungkook’s head snapped up when Yoongi rose. “What?”
Yoongi smirked. “I don’t mince my words. You heard me.” Yoongi glanced at the door, nodding to a customer approaching that he must have recognized. “My lunch rush is about to start,” Yoongi said as the bell dinged, signaling the customer’s entrance. “Come by when I close. I want to talk to you more.”
Jungkook grinned brightly, his nose crinkling up. He rose quickly and nodded even as Yoongi walked away. “I will,” he said, not wanting to turn his back as he watched Yoongi walk behind the counter. “I’ll see you—” He winced when his hip bumped the corner of a table hard enough to sting. He moved out of the way, nearly running into the customer.
“Sorry!” He cried, bowing low. He glanced up, his cheeks warm as he spotted Yoongi watching him, an amused smirk on his face.
Jungkook made it out of the café and over to his arcade without any further accidents. His mind was whirring over what had just happened. Yoongi had said he was cute. Yoongi had kissed his cheek. And asked him to come over. Was this happening? Was he going to win the guy?
The other information Yoongi provided him also crept back in. Now that Yoongi dating him might be reality, rather than theory, would Jungkook really be okay with sharing him with another partner? The more he thought about it, the more he realized he would. The idea of sharing Yoongi with someone else was intriguing. He wondered how date nights might look, if Yoongi would call them both boyfriends – if the other partner would even be a boy. What if he fell for that one too? It was something he’d never considered before; being in love with two men at the same time, but it was something that he was very interested in exploring. What was Yoongi’s type too? Would it be someone else similar to Jungkook? Or totally opposite? His mind wandered through all the possibilities, making the day pass easily.
Shortly before closing time, the front door opened. Jungkook glanced up from where he was sanitizing one of the game systems. His brows rose, disappearing into his shaggy hair when he saw none other than Jin standing in his doorway.
“Good afternoon,” he said politely, bowing. “You looking for something specific? We have some open computers at the internet bar, and some other game systems. I just cleaned this one, so—”
“I’m looking for you,” Jin said bluntly. His jaw was set, giving him a stern look, but there was something unreadable in his eyes. “Can we chat?”
“Of course.” Jungkook nodded, heading behind the small counter that housed a few mini fridges worth of snacks and books filled with codes and game information. He tucked the sanitizing supplies on the bottom shelf and waved Taehyung over. “Keep an eye on the front for me, okay?”
Taehyung glanced at Jin before nodding to Jungkook. Jungkook motioned for Jin to follow him, unlocking a nondescript door that led into an “office” – really it was a gutted storage closet, but it worked to keep the fancy and important stuff out of sight of customers… And for private meetings. Jungkook leaned on the small desk.
“What do you need to talk about?”
“When did you start dating Yoongi?”
Jungkook blinked. “Who said I was dating him?”
“I saw you two this afternoon. He kissed you.”
“He kissed my cheek,” Jungkook corrected. “And you’re a snoop.”
“The shop’s windows aren’t exactly hidden away. I was walking past and saw.”
Jungkook nodded. He sighed and went around, slumping into the folding chair he’d set up to sit in while dealing with bills and other business things. “Well, we aren’t dating. I assumed he was dating you… I saw you two awful cozy this morning.”
“Oh, now who’s the snoop?” Jin grumbled, leaning on the door.
The two remained silent for a long time, staring each other down across the small space. Jungkook couldn’t help but notice how the fabric of Jin’s shirt stretched across his broad shoulders. Though it was a well fitted, button up shirt, it still seemed tight with his body. His belt was cinched around his waist, making his slender hips all the more obvious as well. Jungkook couldn’t help but wonder what it would feel like to hold onto those slender hips, or wrap his arms around the broad shoulder span. And the more he looked, the more he noticed Jin’s mouth and neck. The curve of his throat, ridged with muscle, his full, pink lips that looked just a little chapped – but still oh so soft. The gentle curve of his nose and the smooth, shiny glow to his skin. Despite working in a bakery all day, not a hair was out of place, bangs parted just so to show a broad, smooth forehead that was begging to be kissed.
It was Jungkook who broke first, laughing in the silent room. He shook his head. “This is so stupid,” he said through bursts of laughter. Jin tried to remain stoic but broke as well, laughing along with Jungkook.
When their laughter faded, Jungkook shook his head, wiping his cheeks. “Look, I do like Yoongi. That’s no secret. And yeah, he did kiss my cheek – he was flirting. So, if you like him… I encourage you to tell him.”
“You just said he likes you.”
“And he likes you too. He told me today.” Jungkook hesitated. He didn’t want to say too much about what Yoongi told him; it wasn’t his place to tell. “You should talk to him. His answer might surprise you. But either way – we’ve been fighting over him for months, when in reality this is his choice. He deserves to know the truth so he can make that choice.”
Jin’s shoulders sagged just a little. He nodded. “I know you’re right. But I don’t want to make it harder for him if he has decided to date you.”
“I know you don’t, but you won’t know what he decides until you tell him. He’s a big boy – I’m sure he can handle it.”
Jin chuckled. “True… Thanks, Jungkook.” He turned to go, then turned back. “I’m sorry I’ve been such a dick these past few months.”
Jungkook grinned. “I’m not. It’s been fun. I’ve kinda enjoyed our pranking.”
“Is that so?” Jin smirked. “Well, maybe I won’t stop then.”
“I’ll be waiting.”
Jin turned and walked out, leaving Jungkook to wrestle with far more internal questions than he had answers for.
That night, Jungkook headed over to Deja Brew as soon as he closed things up. The lights were mostly off, save for a few near the back and behind the counter. Assuming it was locked, Jungkook knocked gently. He saw movement from the back, and Yoongi came rushing out. Even in the fading sunlight, Jungkook could see he looked a little flushed and surprised. He opened the door, smiling brightly. “You came.”
“Of course I did… You okay?” Jungkook could see his cheeks were mottled and his hair was a little mussed.
“Yes. But… I have to tell you something.”
Jungkook stepped into the café, letting Yoongi close and lock the door behind him. He shouldered his bag a little higher onto his shoulder. “What do you have to tell me?”
“There’s been… A bit of a development. That I didn’t expect… When I told you to come by.”
“Oh?”
“Evening, Jungkook.” The voice came from the back room, where Yoongi had rushed from. Jungkook looked over Yoongi’s shoulder, his eyes widening. Jin was leaning against the doorframe. He was wearing the same shirt as he had been when he met Jungkook, but now it was hanging open save for two bottom buttons, his firm, broad chest exposed. It was damp with sweat and flushed red, as was Jin’s face and ears. His hair was a little mussed and his mouth – if anyone could believe it – was just a little plumper.
“Oh!” Jungkook backed up. “I am so sorry. I didn’t realize—”
“Don’t go,” Yoongi whispered.
“But you and Jin—”
“He came over,” Yoongi nodded. “But I want to talk to you still. I don’t want you to go, please.”
Jungkook nodded. He met Jin’s gaze, a little surprised to see a gentleness there. He’d won – he expected Jin to look smug. He followed Yoongi back into the back room, and Jin followed as well, leaning against a nearby wall.
“Jin came over earlier,” Yoongi began. “He said you encouraged him to.”
“I did. He came to me and I said it was only fair to you. To tell you how he felt and let you choose. I guess he did and… You did.”
“How do you mean?” Yoongi asked.
“Well, you two…” Jungkook motioned to Jin’s open shirt.
“Oh, yeah. We did. I mean, we are… But… I told you earlier today. How I felt,” Yoongi said. “You said… A lot. About how you’d feel about it. Was that true?”
“About the… More than one person thing?”
Yoongi nodded.
“Yeah, I meant it all. I wouldn’t mind. If I knew you cared and were happy, I’d try.”
“Well I told Jin too.”
“And I said the same thing,” Jin added.
Jungkook smiled softly. “I’m glad. It’s good to find similarly minded people.”
“Jungkook,” Jin stepped forward. “You’re kinda dumb, aren’t you?”
Jungkook pouted. “No,” he mumbled. “I was just trying to be fair, I didn’t—”
“Jungkook, you and me and Yoongi all say the same thing. We’d be happy to try a relationship with more than one person.”
“Yeah, I got that…” Jungkook said, glancing between the two.
“Right… And we both like Yoongi,” Jin continued. “And… Considering the way you were eye fucking me in the office earlier…”
Jungkook’s eyes bulged. He opened his mouth to argue, but Jin shook his head. “I know when someone is giving me that look. I would’ve told you to stop if I didn’t like it.”
“You…”
“Think you’re kinda… Annoying.” Jin laughed at Jungkook’s expression. “And really attractive. Plus you’re competitive and stubborn and loyal…”
“You didn’t lose anything, Jungkook,” Yoongi said. “If you don’t want to lose, that is. If you want… You can both have me.”
Jungkook’s eyes bulged. Comically, if the laughter of Yoongi and Jin meant anything. “You mean—I—I could be with you both?” Jungkook stumbled over his words, wanting to kick himself.
Yoongi nodded. “Why should I choose between you when you both want me and I… Want both of you. And since you’re both okay with sharing me, then… It only seems fair to do so.”
“I was simply getting started a little early,” Jin teased, pulling Yoongi back to him. He kissed him hard.
Jungkook wasn’t sure what to do. He’d just been given the okay – he could date Yoongi – and Jin. He stepped forward, setting his backpack on the ground. Cautiously, he reached out, touching Yoongi’s wrist.
Jin broke the kiss. “Don’t be shy,” he murmured, nuzzling Yoongi’s neck even as he looked up at Jungkook.
Jungkook took a deep breath. He stepped forward, pulling Yoongi to him and kissing him. The reality of what was happening seemed to hit him suddenly when their lips met. He grabbed his cheeks, holding him close even as Yoongi laughed into his mouth. Jungkook felt a warmth behind him and hands on his hips. Jin.
“Can I share you too, Jungkook?” Jin whispered in his ear. Jungkook broke the kiss with Yoongi, looking over to meet Jin’s gaze.
“I—I guess so.”
Jin smiled softly. He stepped to the side, wrapping one arm around Jungkook and pulling him into a deep, needy kiss. His mouth tasted of warm, sweet vanilla and a hint of spice, while Yoongi’s had tasted like coffee beans and chai. It was the perfect blend.
Yoongi’s mouth landed on his neck, his hand sliding Jungkook’s front as he and Jin kissed. He felt hands on his jeans and gasped, breaking the kiss. He glanced down. Jin was undoing Jungkook’s jeans.
“You can stop me,” Jin said softly.
“And me,” Yoongi added.
“No,” Jungkook leaned back, sliding his hand up Yoongi’s neck and through his hair. “Wouldn’t dream of it.” He reached forward, touching Jin’s bare chest before sliding lower, his fingers tracing the firm muscle of his abdomen. He undid the other two buttons of his shirt and pulled it open just as Jin opened his jeans. The slid down a little, and Yoongi helped, pushing them the rest of the way down to his ankles. Jungkook toed his sneakers off and kicked the jeans off. He let go of Jin’s chest to turn, grabbing Yoongi’s belt. “I’m not gonna be the only one with no pants,” he said.
Yoongi laughed. “I’ve already had my pants off. I put them on when you came in.”
“Oh, is that so?” Jungkook undid his belt and unzipped his jeans. “What were you two doing in here?” He looked back at Jin, who smirked.
“I was showing him just how… Versatile my food can be.”
“Is that so?”
Jin nodded. Jungkook pushed Yoongi’s jeans down and turned. “Well now I’m envious… Can I get a lesson in that diversity too?” He pouted.
Jin smirked. “I’m sure that can be arranged. He circled around the two and opened a small fridge under Yoongi’s desk. He pulled out a small cheesecake and a can of spray whipped cream. “Mind if I get some things from up front, Yoongi?”
Yoongi shook his head no, busying himself kissing along Jungkook’s neck. “Bet this isn’t at all what you expected tonight,” he murmured.
“Not at all,” Jungkook leaned into his touch. “But I’m not complaining.”
He turned, pulling Yoongi’s shirt off over his head. He took a moment to stroke his hands over Yoongi’s soft skin, tweaking his nipples just a bit and giggling when Yoongi hissed. Yoongi moved forward, forcing Jungkook to walk backwards until his back hit the wall. He moaned openly, grabbing Yoongi’s hips.
“Don’t come in your shorts now, I have some fun for you two,” Jin teased when he re-entered, holding a cup of coffee and a bowl of what looked like ice. He set them on the table next to the food and beckoned the two over.
“Yoongi… He smirked. He scraped a small chunk off the cheesecake and brought the fork toward Yoongi. Yoongi opened his mouth for it, but Jin moved the fork at the last second, smearing the cheesecake over Yoongi’s bare collarbone. He looked at Jungkook. “Go on.”
Jungkook grinned. He moved forward, gently licking and sucking the cheesecake from Yoongi’s collarbone. He let his teeth graze over the area, enjoying the squeeze of Yoongi’s hands on his waist.
“Take your shirt off now,” Jin whispered when Jungkook had cleaned Yoongi’s skin, and left an array of delightful red marks in his wake. Jungkook obeyed, stripping his shirt off and tossing it to the side. Jin did the same, and stripped his jeans off as well, leaving all three in their boxers. Jin grabbed the can of whipped cream, looking between the two. “Who wants a treat?”
“Yoongi,” Jungkook said. “I stole his cheesecake after all.”
Jin stepped forward and reached out, palming Jungkook through his boxers. Jungkook gasped, his eyelids fluttering shut.
“Lets get these off then,” Jin whispered, pressing a kiss to Jungkook’s jaw. Yoongi stepped forward, sliding them down his hips. Jin made a low noise of appreciation when his cock sprang free. He shook the can once more.
“It’ll be cold,” he warned before tipping it upside down. He pressed Jungkook’s cock down a little further so it was more parallel to the ground and sprayed a few lines of the creamy dessert whip over his shaft.
Jungkook forced his eyes open as Yoongi sank to the ground, licking his lips. He grasped Jungkook’s cock gently behind the tip, careful not to disturb the whipped cream, and looked up at him. Slow and steady, he began to lap to Jungkook’s cock, catching the cream with his tongue. Each inch slipped into his mouth, hot and warm and slick, Jungkook gasped, reaching out for anything to brace himself. Jin caught him, holding his hips to keep him upright as Yoongi sucked his cock.
“That’s it, feels nice, doesn’t it?” Jin murmured in his ear, reaching up to pinch Jungkook’s nipples gently. Jungkook moaned, stroking his fingers through Yoongi’s hair.
“Wanna repay the favor?” He asked softly when Yoongi had sucked all the cream from Jungkook’s cock.
Jungkook nodded. “But—What about you?” He asked, sliding his hand down to palm Jin’s cock.
Jin smirked. “Oh, wanna see what I have too?” He teased. Jungkook nodded.
“Only fair,” Yoongi said as he stood. He slid his own boxers off and they turned to Jin, shedding the final article of clothing he wore as well.
Jin handed Jungkook a piece of ice. “Put it in your mouth… And suck my cock,” he instructed. He took a mouthful of coffee and knelt in front of Yoongi. Glancing up, he winked. He grabbed Yoongi’s cock and gave it a few strokes before slowly sliding it past his closed lips. Yoongi groaned and jerked. A bit of the warm coffee dribbled out, down Jin’s chin and chest. He began to bob his head, and Jungkook could hear the slosh of the coffee in his mouth as he sucked Yoongi.
Jungkook dropped to his hands and knees and placed the ice chip in his mouth. He grabbed Jin’s cock and gave it a few strokes, blowing first gently on it. Jin shuddered and grabbed the back of Jungkook’s neck, squeezing just enough to be known. Jungkook watched goosebumps appear on his thick thighs. He leaned down further and sucked Jin’s cock into his mouth. He flicked the slowly melting ice chip over and around it, using Jin’s grip on the back of his neck to guide what felt the best. Yoongi’s moans were filling the air, as well as the heavy breathing of all three and the wet noises of the two sucking. Jin pulled back and swallowed, gasping and moaning Jungkook’s name. Yoongi sank to the ground and grabbed another ice chip, tapping Jungkook on the shoulder. He moved back, allowing Yoongi to take over.
Jungkook stood and grabbed a forkful of the cheesecake. He slowly streaked it down his belly and over his cock, leaving a little bite on the tip of his cock. Jin smirked, his mouth open already. Jungkook guided him to his cock, moaning when Jin took his tip into his mouth. He sucked hard, flicking his tongue over the top of the head to get the remnants of cheesecake. He moved up then, shifting as much as he could with his cock in Yoongi’s mouth, and licked and nibbled at Jungkook’s belly. Down, over his cock, firm licks and daring grazes of his teeth that had Jungkook tensing in preparation for pain – and moaning in disbelieving arousal when it didn’t come. He was dribbling precoma freely, and knew he wouldn’t last long.  Jin pulled back and moaned, tugging on Yoongi’s hair gently.
“Stop, stop—I’m gonna come,” he whined.
Yoongi pulled back, looking up at him. “Isn’t that the point?” He teased.
Jin chuckled. “I suppose. But it wouldn’t be fair of you to hoard it to yourself, what if Jungkook wanted a taste?”
Jungkook smirked. “He could share with me after it’s already in his mouth, I suppose.”
Jin’s breathing caught, just a bit, and he nodded. “I suppose he could.” He and Yoongi rose and Jin grabbed a small bowl from the fridge. “My homemade frosting,” he explained when Jungkook twitched his head at it. He uncovered the bowl and took a spoon, stirring it. “Yoongi. Come here.”
When Yoongi approached, he slathered the frosting over the length of Yoongi’s thick cock, adding a playful swirl to the dollop at the tip. He looked to Jungkook. “He’s the only one you’ve not tasted yet. Go for it.”
Jungkook sank down and took him into his mouth quickly, moaning around his length. The rich, sweet vanilla cream blended perfectly with Yoongi’s salty precome, dribbling in and teasing him with the promise of more. Jungkook bobbed his head quickly, eager to swallow down both the frosting and Yoongi’s unique taste. Yoongi held back no sounds, tugging softly at Jungkook’s hair as he moaned happily.
Jin dropped down next to Jungkook, shifting to suck and lick at the part of Yoongi’s cock not in Jungkook’s mouth. They switched, taking turns lavishing attention over Yoongi’s cock. Their mouths often met in wet kisses, his cock slotted between their lips. He whined, his hips bucking.
“Please—” He panted. “It’s okay, you can come,” Jin purred, swallowing his cock down. He backed up, letting Jungkook do the same. They kept at it until Yoongi’s cock began to throb. As it did, Jungkook pulled back, holding it towards them and stroking quickly. The ropes of come erupted from his cock, hitting both on the cheeks and open mouths. Jungkook whined softly, feeling a rope shoot over his tongue. As his orgasm faded, Jin grabbed Jungkook’s face, kissing him hard. They cleaned Yoongi’s release from one another with kisses, sharing the salty treat between them.
Yoongi sank down, his legs shaking visibly. He grabbed for Jungkook and Jin’s cocks, stroking one in each hand as they made out. Jungkook pulled back in time to see Yoongi leaning forward, swallowing Jin’s cock down as he stroked Jungkook’s. He switched after a few moments, wrapping his perfect lips around Jungkook’s cock and stroking Jin’s.
“God, I’m already close,” Jungkook whined, holding onto Jin as Yoongi bobbed his head along his shaft.
“Come in his mouth,” Jin murmured. “You can see how much he wants it.”
Yoongi whined in agreement, his breath hot around Jungkook’s cock. He began to bob his head a little faster, reaching up to play with Jungkook’s balls as he did.
“That’s it,” Jin praised, stroking the back of Yoongi’s neck. Jungkook let his head fall onto Jin’s shoulder, his fingers biting into his side as Yoongi’s mouth dragged him closer to orgasm. He grunted, biting his lip. Jin slid his hand down, squeezing Jungkook’s ass. He brushed his finger teasingly over Jungkook’s hole, smirking when he jumped.
“Sensitive,” teased.
Jungkook moaned, pushing his hips forward, pumping into Yoongi’s mouth, and back toward Jin’s hand. The hand disappeared from his ass for a moment. He heard Jin spit and it was back, one finger slipping into his hole. Jungkook shouted in surprise. His hips jerked forward and back, gagging Yoongi.
“Sorry,” he panted, laughing breathlessly as Jin began to finger him. Yoongi gave a thumbs up, shifting to adjust his movements.
Jin found Jungkook’s prostate easily and began to rub and press it, murmuring soft praises in his ear.
Jungkook whimpered. He tugged Yoongi’s hair gently. “I can’t hold back,” he gasped in warning. Yoongi nodded as well as he could and pulled back, focusing his oral work on Jungkook’s tip. He rubbed and pressed his balls gently at the same time Jin pushed a second finger up his ass, scissoring them and rubbing against his spot. Jungkook swore, his legs beginning to shake. His cock jerked as his orgasm hit, spilling ropes of come into Yoongi’s mouth.
Jin slowed his fingers but kept them buried inside Jungkook, rubbing just enough to keep a low level orgasmic buzz running through Jungkook as he milked him dry.
Yoongi rose, his mouth open to show the come in it. He winked at Jungkook before pulling Jin into a deep kiss. Jungkook struggled to stay upright, watching them share his come.
When Yoongi pulled away, Jin withdrew his fingers momentarily.
“Can I keep fingering you while I come?” He asked.
Jungkook smirked tiredly. “Of course.” He bent over the desk, wiggling his ass playfully.
“Wanna finger mine too?” Yoongi teased.
“Well, I’d like to do more than that,” Jin murmured, kissing Yoongi once more. “But I’ll settle for rubbing off on it… If you’ll let me.”
Yoongi immediately bent over the desk next to Jungkook, kissing him softly. Jin added more spit to Jungkook’s hole, going back to fingering him lazily. Jungkook whined, his soft cock still dribbling weak ropes of come at the right pressure on his spot. He glanced over, watching Jin spit on his other hand to slick his cock. He slid it up, along Yoongi’s perky ass, and moaned, immediately beginning to hump against it.
After a while, Jin pulled his fingers free from Jungkook’s hole and squeezed Yoongi’s ass, swearing softly.
“Spread it,” he panted. Yoongi obeyed, spreading his ass open for Jin.
Jin spat against his hole, and Jungkook watched him slide a finger in gently. Yoongi moaned, deep in his chest as he did. Jin removed his finger and lined his cock up, poking the tip gently against Yoongi’s tight hole. He paused, jerking his cock quickly.
He moved over to Jungkook, squeezing his ass.
“Spread,” he panted. Jungkook obeyed, blushing darkly when he heard Jin spit and felt a glob land on his hole. Jin went immediately with his cock, spreading it with the tip and nudging Jungkook’s hole. Slightly more relaxed from the earlier fingering, Jungkook felt his hole give a little, and he moaned.
“Goddamnit,” Jin panted. Jungkook could hear him stroking his cock, the nudges against his hole becoming more persistent. “I wish I could fuck you both,” he grunted.
“Next time I’ll have lube,” Yoongi murmured. “I’d particularly like to see you take Jungkook and pound him against the wall… Looks like you make such pretty sounds with a cock up your ass, Jungkook.”
Jungkook laughed breathlessly, moaning softly. “I think I do… I love begging for it,” he admitted.
Both Jin and Yoongi made appreciative noises.
“I’d like to fuck him after,” Yoongi continued. “Lay him on his his belly right over there… And fuck him after you gape his ass. You could fuck me while I was doing it.”
“Jesus Christ,” Jin swore. He moved between them and grabbed the plate of cheesecake, setting it on the table. With a soft groan and a series of rhythmic grunts, Jin came, thick ropes spilling from his cock over the dessert.
Jungkook met Yoongi’s gaze and smirked, understanding the intention. They both grabbed forks and began to cut into the cake, feeding one another the come covered bites over Jin’s cock. He moaned softly, seeming to shudder and relax as they ate. Jungkook scooped up the last bite and stood straight, holding it out for Jin, he took it gladly, meeting Jungkook’s gaze as he chewed and swallowed. He leaned forward, kissing Yoongi and then Jungkook. Jungkook returned the kiss, pulling back to kiss Yoongi as well.
The three redressed and cleaned up the office in relative silence, each seeming to be going over what had happened.
“So… That was… Admittedly a little unexpected,” Yoongi said finally, settling into his chair behind the desk. Jin, for all his gusto, looked a little shy, and Jungkook was worried.
“Was it too much?” Jungkook asked.
“I don’t think so. Not for me, at least… What about you two?”
“I liked it,” Jin said. “I had fun and it was a good way to… Try out this dynamic, of all three of us. I’ve never… I’ve never dated more than one person at a time, but I like Jungkook, and I want to try it. And I know it’s where you feel comfortable. So for me, it was nice to sort of… See where we all stood and get close in a new way.”
Jungkook nodded. “I agree. I had said earlier today that I’d be fine with my partner dating someone else, and I kept thinking about that during the day. My mind did wander to Jin a few times, I won’t lie. I think he’s the best match for both of us. He and I have always had our…”
“Rivalry,” Jin filled in, laughing a little, and Jungkook nodded.
“Yes, rivalry. That I have enjoyed. And I obviously care a lot for you, Yoongi… I’m happy with tonight and… I hope we can move forward as a … Well, not really a couple, are we?”
Yoongi laughed. “Not exactly. There’s a lot of words that people have come up with for folks in our dynamic, we can figure it out later. For now I’m content just knowing that there’s no regrets. And that we all want to move forward into… Dating.”
Jungkook and Jin both nodded eagerly.
“How will dating work?” Jungkook asked. “Do the three of us go together? Two at a time? I mean… Since Jin and I, I figured… You are okay with… Wanting to date me too?”
“I’d like to try it,” Jin said, nodding in agreement.
“I’ve never actually had this kind of relationship,” Yoongi admitted, “despite wanting it for so long. I think we’ll have to sit down together and really hash out what each of us need in a relationship, and how the other two can best provide it. I do know that for this sort of thing… We need to be open with each other.”
Yoongi rose as he spoke, going over to Jin and Jungkook. He took each of their hands in his own. “Communicating is the only way this can work, okay? No more secrets, no more unspoken words and passive aggressive pranking.”
Thy all shared a chuckle at that. Jungkook shook his head. “I think pranking has really become Jin and I’s love language… You’re not gonna stop the pranks, Yoongi.”
Yoongi sighed dramatically, grinning. “And here I was hoping I’d get to avoid Jin shouting at seven in the morning when you’ve stolen his mixer yet again.”
Jungkook grinned brightly as Jin laughed.
“Look, that was a good prank!” Jungkook defended.
“Yeah, only because I returned it shutting down your fuse box the next day.”
Jungkook glared, but grinned as he was doing it. “We’ll keep you out of the pranks,” he promised, looking back to Yoongi.
“I don’t mind. Just don’t prank me.”
“It’s late,” Jin said. “Why don’t we all have a light dinner together tomorrow after closing? We can meet here, I’ll bring some stuff from the bakery too, and we can have some of the leftover sandwiches from your café. We can all sit together and really talk about what we need and what we’d like from this sort of relationship.”
Jungkook and Yoongi nodded. “I like that idea. I’d like to think more about it anyways,” Jungkook admitted. “I know I want this, but I’ve not been in a lot of relationships, so… When someone asks me what I want from even a traditional two person… I don’t think I could answer. I need to really think and figure it out.”
“I feel like that’s a fair assessment,” Yoongi said. “I’m in a similar boat. The idea that you’re both… Mine… It’s a lot. I’m happy. I’m just overwhelmed.”
“You never thought you could have this,” Jin said. Yoongi nodded.
“Well you do,” Jungkook stepped forward and hugged Yoongi tightly, pressing a kiss to his cheek. “And we might have to figure out the fine-tuning stuff, but you have us. It’s not a dream.”
Yoongi hugged him back, nuzzling his neck. “Thank you.”
“We care a lot about you, Yoongi. No matter what. I think I can speak for Jungkook too when I say that this is a good move for us all. We’re happy, and we’ll be happy like this,” Jin said. He wrapped his arms around them both, enveloping them in a tight hug.
They separated after a moment and Jungkook grabbed his bag. “Come on, we should get going. Do you have any last-minute things to do?”
“No, I’m all closed up here, just have to shut off lights.” Yoongi headed to the back of the office and grabbed his jacket, flicking off the lights and basking them in darkness.
The trio walked to the doors and stepped out into the cool night air, letting Yoongi lock his door. They stood for a moment, all looking at one another in the streetlights. “Well, I go this way,” Jungkook said, jutting his finger in the direction of his bus stop.
“I’m that way too,” Yoongi said.
“I go the other way,” Jin said. He glanced around then stepped forward and kissed Yoongi long and hard. Jungkook chuckled a little at it. It was cute, if he was being honest. Jin glared playfully at him. “What’re you laughing at, punk?” He joked. He grabbed Jungkook’s shirt and pulled him into a kiss as well.
He stood straight and fixed his shirt. “I’ll see you two tomorrow.”
“Get home safely,” Yoongi said. They watched Jin walk down the street before turning and walking up it.
“How far up do you go?” Yoongi asked.
“My bus stop is about two blocks away.”
“Do you live very far?”
Jungkook shook his head no. “Only a few miles. Just a little too far to walk or ride a bike in, so I have to do the bus.”
Yoongi nodded. “I only live about half a mile up, so I usually walk it. Do you have a car, for the winter?”
“No, but the bus stop is right outside my apartment so it’s not so bad. The city keeps these streets shoveled well.”
“Hm… Well, we’ll see when winter comes. I have a car, I just don’t bother using it except winter with how close I live. I wonder how far down Jin lives.” He glanced back.
“We can ask him tomorrow.”
They reached Jungkook’s bus stop. Yoongi sighed softly. “I wanted to thank you.”
“For what?”
“The conversation we had this afternoon gave me so much joy and confidence… Just hearing someone support me and give me hope that I could be truly happy… And then I know you sent Jin to me. Even though you knew it might mean losing me if I didn’t want you as a third, I… Your care means so much.”
Jungkook smiled softly. “I fell for you the minute I saw you, Yoongi. I want you to be happy, no matter what. And getting to be with you… And with Jin… It’s perfect. For as much as he and I argue, he’s an amazing man.”
“He is… And so are you.” Yoongi took Jungkook’s hands and squeezed gently. “I’m so happy that this happened.”
Jungkook grinned, his heart skipping a beat. He leaned forward and kissed Yoongi gently. “My bus will be here soon,” he said, not stepping away from Yoongi. “I’ll see you tomorrow.”
“See you.” Yoongi kissed him once more before letting his hands go and heading down the street.
Jungkook sighed heavily, a grin on his face as he did. Though he’d been hoping for a good result from finally confronting his feelings, this was a better one that he’d ever imagined. He knew that their future would be a sweet as the coffee and pastries his new boyfriends created.

The Coffee Shop AU idea I mentioned once but never elaborated on:
Hey, so I guess I’m finally talking about this here! A while back, I made this headcanon about what Yakko would do as a Starbucks barista, and somehow this became and au, and an idea for a fic. It’s an older au, and includes characters from Disney shows as well (eg Ducktales 2017 and A Goofy Movie), but this post will mainly focus on the Warners, their roles, and some explanation/backstory. So, without further ado, here we go.
FAQs and quick things to Preface this
How much older are the Warners?
They (along with the characters in the Disney media I’m using) are all 4 years older than they are in the canon show (or whatever piece of media is used from the canon)
Why do the Warners have such mundane jobs?
The idea is that after the show, in an attempt to cut ties with them, the studio aged the Warners up. They continued to let them live in the watertower, but under the condition that they paid rent, which led to the starting point of this au.
Will other Animaniacs characters be included?
Hopefully they will. I really want to include Pinky and the Brain, but I have no idea what they will do just yet.
Did you come up with nicknames for this AU?
Yep!! Yakko’s is Espresso, Wakko’s is Shortstack, and Dot’s is Plume.
The coffee shop sounds like a big deal. Does it have a name?
It’s name is Moonbills café (not to be confused with one Starbucks coffee)
Aside from the Ducks and the Goofs, what other Disney characters will be included?
You shall find out soon. But in the meantime, let’s talk more about the Warners.
Yakko
He hasn’t changed much, but working at a coffee shop has definitely made him more irritable, more tired, and more blunt. He’s figuring out what he wants to do next, and whether or not he truly wants to give up entertaining now that this leg of the journey is over. He probably gets multiple customers who recognize him, and he’d occasionally humor them by saying a catchphrase, or singing some kind of song, whether it be older or on the spot. While that is the case, he’s also dealt with his fair share of Karens (which is one of the main reasons he gets increasingly frustrated), but he has his ways of dealing with them. He definitely hates the job (to the point of refusing to actually purchase the goods there), but he’s grown pretty close with his co-workers.
Wakko
For a while after the show ends and Yakko starts working at the café, Wakko and Dot are pretty much left to their own devices. At first the two just go out and explore Burbank, but at the realization that what Yakko’s making won’t be enough to pay rent and to buy necessities, Wakko starts to go and look for a job too, eventually working various jobs at a local library. He makes friends with another co-worker around his age, and ends up really enjoying working there, especially when being placed in charge of event programming for the kids’ section and activities. I’m still developing his story, but more will be added as I go on.
Dot
Like with Wakko, I’m still developing the details for Dot’s part in the story. Essentially, the ending of the show, and her older brothers both working jobs is something tough on her, since she and Wakko have so many mutual friends, and she’s too young to work a job like her brothers by a hair. Because of those, she ends up looking towards certain outlets for stress, specifically going back to writing poetry. It becomes something really comforting for her, and Yakko eventually organizes open mic nights at the café, so she can read these poems, also providing a feeling of comfort as it reminded her of the poetry corner segments.
Conclusion
That’s all I’m sharing for this introductory post that’s been a few months in the making. Maybe I’ll put chapters of the fic up here, and maybe I’ll make a specific blog for it, but who knows? I’ll just say there’s definitely more to come

Hey Alice! It has been ten days since your journey down the rabbit hole started, ten days since I launched this blog’s promotional post.  I don’t know how it happened so suddenly, but... it seems we have reached one hundred followers! Technically, as I’m finishing up this post, we’re at one hundred and seven followers.
As your guide through Twisted Wonderland, I am grateful for your support!! While this milestone is small, it means the whole world to me. The amount of time that I achieved this many followers compared to my other social media and my main blog on tumblr is truly insane.
To commemorate this minuscule checkpoint in my tumblr imagines writing career, I am hosting an event that shall be on par its size! A mini event!! This event is inspired by the blog aesthetics of my two most recent followers: @jangmi-latte and @currywaifu~!
Event Details:
Tumblr media
Prologue:
Welcome to Café Rosé, an umpteenth local coffeeshop that sprouted from the concrete, fitting snuggly into a small plaza located in the suburbs of Twisted Wonderland. Despite being fairly new to the community, the shop has found success in one particular drink— their Rosé Latte. The café is known for mixing in rose water, rosé, or milk infused with rose extract, depending on your preference into their drinks. Oddly enough, the owner adores the color pink and roses as much as she adore coffee. Part of the charm, perhaps? The Rosé Latte is, by far, the most popular item. It’s said to make people fall in love at first sip. But, perhaps that, too, is part of the charm as it is merely a rumor. You couldn’t possibly believe that you can fall in love with a cup of coffee now, could you?
Event Rules:
First of all, click on the banner for better quality. I made it 1080px wide and the standard tumblr dimensions is 540px wide so it looks blurry, but it’s actually better than it looks. I promise! Also, don’t steal this. I spent three hours on it.
Now, for the actual event: It’s a cafe/coffeshop AU event! Lowkey soulmate AU and I just-!! Cliche, but I always wanted to write for this AU. Well, not that much. I won’t write something like this for a long time.  It’s an event after all!
For this event, you can request oneshots only. Sadly, I won’t be writing headcanons or scenarios this time around.
And because I’m only taking oneshot requests, you can only request for one character.
Here’s another catch! You have to request as if you’re ordering off a menu of prompts that I personally made. Not to worry, they’re all forgiving and pretty general. More on that later. Scroll down for it!
So your request format would be something like this: “Can I get a [menu item name] with Leona?”
Something to note: this is all vaguely a coffeeshop/soulmate AU. No matter what you choose, it’ll be a lowkey soulmate AU. Now depending on what you choose, your counter might be spicy, angsty, or fluffy. Or maybe all three???
It’s very basic. Something simple for a small milestone <3
Because it’s a small commemoration event, and because oneshots take me a while to write (and not to mention I lowkey want to make different banners for each request), I will only be accepting the first five (5) requests. So you should probably hurry!
If you don’t make it that’s okay! You can still send in other request since I don’t know when to stop~ ... Just please... please no more Octavinvelle requests..
Menu:
Rosé Latte— a simple latte with a splash of fresh milk, topped with a light rose extract-infused foam + latte art; the best seller here at Café Rosé. Rumor has it that once you take a sip, you’ll immediately fall in love with your supposed soulmate. Fate works in strange ways, you see?
English Rose Refresher— half lemonade, half rose tea. A bit of an floral yet tart flavor; A cool beverage meant to ease the summer heat and your stress as well. It’s the perfect drink for you to unwind and let go of a day’s struggles.
Candied Rose Frappuccino— more of a confection rather than a beverage, but nevertheless, it’s bold; The sweetness of the candies rose petals tend to block all your senses as if you had let your inner beast out. That feeling is insatiable.
Rose Tea— as it sounds: an herbal tea. Now available iced or hot; It’s a subtle and simple combination of flavors that makes you appreciate the smaller mundane things in life and openly express that.
Lavender Rose White Mocha— yet another sugary confection yet this time it’s complimented with a hint of lavender extract and the sweetness of white chocolate and espresso; It’s the type of drink that wakes you up without shooting your adrenaline through the roof. It’s the kind of drink that makes you laugh.
Raspberry Rose Cake— coffee and tea isn’t the only thing on the Café Rosé menu! While enjoying your rather bitter beverage, pair it with a mildly soft flavored slice of this! ; This cake is the type of cake to melt away all of your troubles. If there was rain, this cake would clear the sky. If there were tears, this cake would make your tears dry.
Rosewater Biscuits— pair this with the more sugary drinks. It’s flavor is plain enough to act as a palette cleanser, a counter for said beverages, but there’s still a floral hint within these; Perhaps not the best tasting item on this menu but they sure do bring back many nostalgic memories of the awfully mundane snacks you had with your childhood friends.
Disclaimer: I made some of the items and/or their descriptions up with the help and reference of Starbucks and Google. I have no idea if the ingredients are compatible with each other or if it’s actually palatable  I’m not actually a barista!
And that’s it! Thank you very much for reading through this if you did! Thank you for following me too! The next milestone is going to be 500 so until then ╰(*´︶`*)╯♡

Chapter One
---------------------
♞ LOGAN ♞
Logan sighed as he checked his phone for the second time in two minutes. He was standing outside of the main hall of the university where he would be speaking on that day. Due to his need for extensive planning, however, he was nearly two hours early for when he was required to be there.
He considered checking in with the dean of the school but knew that many people felt inconvenienced by those who arrived more than an hour early. Typically, Logan didn’t care too much about inconveniencing others with early arrivals, but Thomas Sanders, the dean of the school, was not just some man who had invited him to speak at this year’s graduation. Thomas was also a very dear friend of his, and Logan would hate to add any undue anxiety onto the man’s already burdened shoulders.
Sighing again, Logan considered the time once more before opening Google Maps and searching for nearby cafes.
Of course, Logan thought as his eyes took in the ten plus pins indicating Starbucks Coffee shops in the area. It was not that Logan was a coffee snob, though his best friend Roman would disagree, he was simply a man who knew what he liked, and Starbucks was awful in terms of taste compared to value. In his opinion, of course—although anyone who disagreed was an idiot.
Scrolling down to the list, his gaze was caught by the third listing. The Bumble Bean. Logan hummed, resisting the urge to roll his eyes at the pun. It was, after all, better than the alternative.
He noted the letter corresponded with the shop before consulting the map. Clicking on the name of the cafe, it popped up on the map and Logan clicked its little pin. The shop’s information appeared in a little bubble, including the business hours and, more importantly, the distance from his current location.
A block and a half away. Not bad for a walk, especially considering the suit he wore. Decision made, Logan set down his messenger bag long enough to pull off the suit jacket. Lifting his bag from the ground, he draped his jacket over the bag and shouldered the strap once more.
A quick click of the directions link on Google Maps and he was on his way.

 💀 VIRGIL 💀
Virgil leaned back in the leather armchair he occupied, covering a yawn with his arm.
“Don’t start with that now, ViVi.”
Virgil grinned as he looked up at the barista who also happened to be his best friend.
 “Sorry, Pat.”
Patton Hart was five foot four inches of adorable from the top of his curls to his white chucks with rainbow cat faces printed on the material. He also had the endearing habit of worrying for his friends. Especially Virgil.
“Late night again?” Patton asked, brows furrowing in concern behind oversized glasses with gold round frames. Virgil nodded. “Sleep is important, kiddo.”
Anyone who overheard the conversation would likely wonder why Patton—who easily looked younger than Virgil, though they were actually the same age—was calling him kiddo, but Virgil had come to accept that as just Patton being Patton. He was definitely a mom and dad friend.
Virgil sighed. “Yeah.” He brought a hand to his eyes, closing them to rub at the lids before offering Patton a winning smile. “These lyrics won’t write themselves.”
Patton pursed his lips as he set Virgil’s black coffee down on a coaster. Once he’d straightened up, hands were fisted and rested on hips. Virgil tried his best to hold back a grin, but the other looked too adorable like that and so he failed. Miserably.
“It’s not funny, Virgil. One of these days, you’re gonna wish you’d listened to dear ol’ Patton.”
“And when that day comes, I will gladly accept your ‘I told you so’. Unfortunately, I’m a night owl and my brain works best in the dead of night.”
Patton tutted but said nothing else on the matter. “Don’t forget, its drinks night tonight. Emile will be late but I should be able to close up a little early so I’ll be there at ten.”
Virgil nodded. “Alright. Honestly, though, I don’t know why I even go. Ever since you two started dating, I feel like such a third wheel. Are you sure you two just don’t want the time to yourself? You and I could always catch up later.”
“Nonsense. Emile is as much your friend as he is mine, boyfriend or not. And, I don’t want to hear another word about it, mister.”
Virgil snorted. “Yeah, yeah. Okay, mom.”
“Good. Now, drink your coffee before it gets cold.” He glanced up at the front and gave a start. “Oops, gotta get back to work. I’ll try to chat when the rush ends.”
Virgil waved him off. “Sure thing, buddy. Talk to you later.”
Watching Patton make his way behind the counter, Virgil let his gaze wander to take in the other patrons of the little cafe. A smile slipped onto his lips as he remembered the day three years ago when Patton rushed up to him before blurting out his idea for a bookstore coffee house. Virgil had never seen his best friend so excited about anything in his life, which was saying a lot considering Patton’s default setting was excited.
It had taken a lot of work and Virgil had put a lot of money into the place—an investment, he had told Patton when the other tried to refuse—but the struggle had paid off in the end. The Bumble Bean had quickly become one of the hot spots in town, especially for students at the local university and high schools. Virgil was proud of his friend and never missed a chance to tell him, either.
The gentle, light sound of the bell on the door sounded and Virgil idly glanced in that direction.
 Oh. My. God.
A man who looked not much older than Virgil--but dressed in way nicer clothes than Virgil had ever owned--stepped inside and looked around before heading toward the counter. Virgil watched him as he made his way across the café, his eyes taking in the man's face as his own heated up considerably.
 Gay panic is real.
Virgil quickly looked away, busying himself with drinking his coffee. Unfortunately, due to his preoccupied brain, he had forgotten that coffee was generally very hot, and burned his tongue.
“Fuck.” He swore under his breath, tongue now numb and raw. Setting the cup down, Virgil glanced at the man from the corner of his eye.
I’m gay. I am so fucking gay.
Virgil watched as the man stepped up to the counter after the last customer finished paying. He found himself wondering what kind of drink the man would order, mentally reminding himself to ask Patton later. Watching Patton help the man, Virgil guessed at what kind of job the man had.
A businessman… then again, those pants are fitted as fuck… lawyer, maybe? Or CEO of some Fortune 500…
Pursing his lips, Virgil shook his head. The man didn’t look like a slimy, two-timing, grubby-handed snake. It was possible he was dressed for a specific event. The suit aside, Virgil would guess a professor, or a scientist even. There was no way he would be able to guess correctly, he decided. No point trying.
Turning his attention to his coffee, Virgil was momentarily distracted by the sound of feedback coming from the front. A stage was set up on the opposite side of the entrance, a young guy around Virgil’s age if not younger moving the stool closer to the microphone already present. There was a guitar in his other hand and a smile slipped onto Virgil’s face.
Virgil Quinn was a college student at the local university but he was also a well-known lyricist. Well, well-known was a little generous considering most people weren’t really interested in lyricists so much as the band or artist themselves. Most lyricists were annoyed by that fact but not Virgil. He liked being famous without actually being famous.
Unlike the bands that sang his songs, Virgil could go where he liked, when he liked, with no concern for his safety or his privacy. Even on the rare occasion, a fan did care about the person who wrote the songs, his work was still appreciated and loved from afar. His pictures weren’t the ones being plastered online, on busses, on television ads, and so on. He had more Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube followers than the average person and he was relatively “known”, but definitely not enough that it made much difference to his daily life.
That was exactly how Virgil preferred it.
 “Do you mind?”
Virgil’s attention had been successfully distracted enough that he hadn’t noticed anyone come up.
“Mind?” Virgil’s indifferent attitude quickly turned shy and awkward as he turned to look at the person who asked the question. The gorgeous Mr. Maybe-A-Scientist.
“I’d like to claim that chair over there but I’ll need to get past you to get there. If you don’t mind.”
Virgil seized up before mentally reminding himself that this was just another guy. Another human being. He could play it cool.
 Don’t blush. Don’t blush. Don’t blush.
Virgil glanced at the chair before looking back up at the man. He cleared his throat and stood up.
In the brief few seconds that past between them as Virgil stood so he could shift out of the man’s way, Virgil became certain of a handful of things.
First, the man with his dark gray, nearly black eyes could not be a CEO or lawyer. While his eyes held a certain level of cold, there was far too much feeling in them. Too much depth. Second, the man was at least a head shorter than him but there was no way Virgil would have known if he hadn’t stood up. The confidence the man held about him was absolutely admirable. Virgil would have been worried the man was arrogant or, worse, a narcissist but he seemed far too polite and formal. Instead of self-importance, it was an air of near indifference that radiated from him.
 “Thank you.”
 “Yeah. No sweat.”
Virgil could have mentally kicked himself. No sweat? Seriously? This man was obviously a man that existed off of intellectual knowledge and discourse. The best he could come up with was no sweat?
Virgil watched the other’s face, certain to see some sort of sign of dismissal but it never came. Instead, the man raised a brow and a second later, his lips quirked upwards. It was slight. So slight that Virgil wasn’t even certain he truly saw it. That was until the man spoke again.
“I still need to get by you, I’m afraid.”
Was that amusement Virgil heard laced ever so subtly throughout the carefully chosen words? Virgil glanced at where he stood and swore under his breath. He was an absolute idiot. One thing was certain, however, as Virgil finally moved out of the other’s way. There was a definite spark of amusement in the man’s eyes and voice when he glanced back to thank him, before moving on to the armchair just on the other side of the coffee table.
Virgil blushed, quickly sitting once more and trying his best to melt into the couch. Not possible, of course, but he had to give himself props for trying. Deciding he had done enough damage to their interaction, Virgil turned his attention back to the stage where the young man with the guitar was now engaging the patrons sat around the stage.
As the singer started playing and fading into his song, Virgil almost forgot about Mr. Sexy Scientist. No, who was he kidding. There was no way he could actually forget about him. Not with him being so damn attractive. Not with him being so damn close. But, his focus was preoccupied just enough to take his mind off the man, if only for the moment.
That was, until a sound escaped the man, pulling Virgil’s attention back to him once more. Why is he so good looking? Life hated him. That was all there was to it. Putting such a gorgeous, put together man at arms reach only for Virgil to not have any chance in hell with him. The sound that left the man, however, had Virgil’s curiosity piqued. It was definitely a scoff that he had heard come from the well dressed man.
“Not a fan of this kind of music?” Virgil asked, before he could think better of it. He took note that the other had pulled out a book and was presumably reading it. He didn’t even look up at Virgil when answered his question.
“Not a fan of music, actually.”
Virgil raised a brow. There was no way he had heard correctly. “Sorry, what now?”
The man looked up this time, a wry sort of expression on his face. It was the look of someone who had had this conversation on more than one occasion and didn’t find it any more enjoyable than he had the first time. Virgil felt bad, but only a little. He was more curious and so offered an apologetic shrug, but continued to look at the man expectantly.
The man sighed, marking the page he had been reading with a finger and set the book in his lap. His eyes found Virgil’s and it was all he could do to not look away. Swallowing hard, Virgil waited to hear what the man was about to say.
“I’m just not a fan of any type of music. It’s just… not my thing. I guess, classical counts as music and I do enjoy that when I am writing but in the general view of what is music these days, I really can’t say any of it has my appreciation.”
Virgil frowned. How sad to not like any music. The man looked ready to return to his book but Virgil found himself not wanting the conversation to end just yet. Grasping for something to talk about, he took note of what the man had said.
 “Writing?”
The man nodded. He continued to watch Virgil but was obviously not about to offer any further information without being prompted.
Just my luck. The most gorgeous man walks into my life and unwittingly challenges all my anxieties.
 “What do you write?”
 Maybe he was an author?
“I’m a poet.” Suddenly a hand was offered to him from across the coffee table. Virgil took it at the last minute, shaking it and trying hard not to focus on the fact that they were technically holding hands. Too soon, the man pulled his hand back. “Logan Wright. I don’t expect you’ve heard of me but you’ve most likely come across a few of my poems. They’ve been used in various media.”
Virgil could only nod, unsure of what to say. A poet! Not only that but a poet who doesn't like music. As a lyricist, Virgil was of the belief that lyrics were poetry put to notes in order to make a song—to make music.
The man went back to his book and Virgil watched him for a few moments before letting his attention return to the performer. The guy was not the best singer ever but played the guitar like a boss. Still, Virgil could hear the potential and knew well that this man could have a musical career hands down as long as he kept at it. The biggest draw to a singer like this one was that the words could be felt with his voice. That was a quality that so many singers didn’t have but the very quality that proved Virgil’s belief.
He knew he shouldn’t care. He knew well that the likelihood of him ever seeing this man—Logan—again was slim to none. Yet, he couldn’t keep his attention from returning to the man. Every few glances, he would see the other wince or grimace. Virgil wanted to feel offended on the singer’s behalf but instead, he just felt pity for Logan.
The time soon came when Logan stood and asked by him once again. This time Virgil was quick to stand and smiled shyly.
“Hope you have a good day.”
Wow, could I be any more lame?
The man smiled, however, and nodded. “Likewise.”
Virgil then watched him as he headed out of the shop and back into the world.
A few seconds passed, Virgil wishing he had asked for his number or something. Not only that, but the knowledge that the man was missing out on something that was inspiration for millions of people… that just didn’t sit right with him. If only he could spend a few days with Logan… show him what he was missing out on. Prove to him that not all music was bad and so much of it told a story.
 Fuck.
Before he could talk himself out of it, Virgil rushed through the shop and out the door. He glanced in the direction the man had gone, his eyes falling on his retreating back.
“Logan!” he called out. The man stopped and turned, tilting his head in a cute manner. Virgil didn’t focus on that, instead starting toward him as the man started back, distance closing between them.
 “Can I help you?”
Virgil blushed, suddenly unsure of himself. Was what he was about to propose stupid? Whatever. He would never know until he tried.
 “Give me a week.”
Logan snorted. “I’m sorry, give you what?”
Virgil blushed and rushed on. “I mean… in there. What you said about music? Give me a week to prove you wrong.”
Logan blinked and slowly smirked. “And what makes you think I’ll even be here a week?”
That stopped Virgil in his tracks. It never even occurred to him that the man was out of town. He felt himself frowning and was about to apologize when the man spoke up again.
“I mean, I will be, as it turns out, but it is intriguing for you to just assume so. Still, your proposal has me curious. I don’t know exactly how you plan to change my mind, but I do like experiments as much as the next scholar. I do have somewhere to be at the present, but if you give me your number, I will text you.”
In the next moments, Virgil gave Logan his number and watched as he walked away. He had no idea how he had managed it, but now that was the least of his worries.
Virgil now had just under seven days to change the mind of a very hot, intelligent, and opinionated poet.
To say he had his work cut out for him was definitely an understatement.

a/n: this is my first fanfic, like, ever, besides the personal blurbs i keep to myself, so i hope you enjoy! please excuse any mistakes, i wrote this during free time/procrastination times and i just love the song a lot hehe
Doyoung was a singer-songwriter, performing every Thursday at a local café. He was currently sitting in his room attempting to write a new song, tired of performing the same set every week. He knew the crowd was bored of it as well, staying through his songs because they had nothing better to do.
He had no motivation, however. His life had consisted of the same daily routine; eat, sleep, sing, He had nothing but a melody, strumming the same tune over and over again.
Doyoung set his guitar down and grabbed his wallet and jacket, heading to the corner market nearby for a snack. He figured his hunger might be the reason why he had writer’s block.
He walked in and immediately headed to the chips aisle, knowing exactly where it was after so many late night visits. He decided that he might as well grab some groceries while he was out and went into the dairy aisle, looking for his favorite coffee creamer. A hand bumped into his as he reached out for the refrigerator, nude pink colored nails grazing against his pale fingers.
“Oh, I’m so sorry!” a petite girl smiled sheepishly up at him, embarrassed at the situation.
“It’s okay, don’t worry about it. Go ahead,” he motioned for her to grab from the fridge first, admiring how pretty she looked.
It was summer, her business casual outfit a huge contrast to his light denim jeans and white t-shirt. She had long brown hair and dusty pink lipstick on, her style of false lashes complimenting her bright eyes. He noticed her practically full handbasket, filled with different snacks and drinks. It made him chuckle a bit, her childlike taste buds different compared to her rather professional appearance. He quickly stopped his observation when he realized she grabbed the last of his favorite creamer, the shelf completely empty.
“I’m sorry, did you want this?” she noticed the sad look on his face, his eyes on the bottle in her hand.
“Yeah, but it’s okay. I have enough left to last me the week,”
“Are you sure?” she frowned, tilting her head. “Actually, here, you can take it! I just wanted to try it, I don’t think I’ll like it honestly, the flavor just seemed interesting.”
The action made him soften, appreciating her kindness.
“It’s quite good, the café down the street uses it.” he mentions. “I go there a little too often so I decided to buy the creamer for myself,”
“There’s a café nearby? Do you mind telling me where?” she perked up at the mention of a coffee shop that wasn’t another Starbucks, excited at the thought of fresh coffee.
“World Café, it’s about two blocks away. My friend Johnny owns the place, he lets me perform there every week.”
“You sing?” she asked.
“Yes, I do.”
“Oh, no wonder! I overheard someone humming over there but I couldn’t tell who it was. It sounded good, whatever song you were thinking of.”
“Thanks,” he said. “it’s something new that I’m writing.”
“Aw, that’s exciting! What night do you perform? I can probably try to stop by after work, I’ve been wanting to explore the city a bit more,”
Doyoung told her how he performed every Thursday and gave her the address, the girl smiling and letting him know that she’ll try to be there. He watched as she waved and walked off, the sound of her heels clacking against the floor fading off into the distance.
He headed home right away, the image of her smiling up at him stuck in his mind. Her outgoing appearance struck a chord in him and he went straight to his room, grabbing his guitar and pencil so he could continue the song he suddenly had inspiration for.
A few hours later he had finished it, stretching his fingers out as he looked over his sheet music. He was amazed at how quickly he finished, a complete stranger being the backstory to his new song. As much as he didn’t want to get his hopes up, Doyoung anticipated the girl being at the café Thursday night so she could hear it.
Doyoung found himself rather nervous that night, sitting at his usual place on a stool in front of a small crowd in the café.
“Don’t worry, she’ll be here! The only bad thing that could happen is if she had a boyfriend,” Johnny chuckled from behind the counter.
Doyoung observed the room with sad eyes, looking for the girl he had been waiting for. He figured she might’ve forgotten, taking a deep breath before strumming the first chord of his new song. Just before singing the first line he noticed the familiar face walking in, standing by the entrance alone. His voice cracked as he made eye contact with her, making her giggle. He immediately mumbled an apology and started his song over again, placing his fingers back on his guitar.
He sang his new song beautifully, the melody and lyrics finding its way to her heart. It didn’t take much for her to realize the song was about her, beaming the entire time. She approached him after his set with a wide smile, complimenting his performance.
The two ended up sitting at a table and chatting the rest of the evening, Doyoung even walking her home. He learned that she was originally from across the country, living in a temporary apartment in the city for the summer as an intern. He told her about his plans to move up to the mountains, enjoying the peace and quiet there.
They exchanged numbers that night, their texts gradually advancing to facetime calls and late night dinner dates after her shifts at work. Doyoung would show her around the city on her off days, taking her to his favorite viewpoints and museums. He even invited her to his apartment, where he would play his guitar and sing for her. She would clap for him after every song, pointing out the different parts she liked.
The summer flew by that way, her internship quickly coming to an end as the weather cooled down. They found themselves stuck, unsure of what to do about their plans for the rest of the year. He wanted to move upstate; she wanted to go back home. They decided to go through with their plans, promising to eventually see each other again soon.
The idea of a long distance relationship wasn’t appealing to them, but they managed perfectly fine. His messed up sleeping schedule worked with her timezone and she always kept in contact, enjoying the music files he’d send her. It was during this time that his music career had began to grow, a talent scout reaching out to him after one of his performance nights at the café.
Doyoung hit it big with his song, a song inspired by the girl he fell in love with.
The couple found themselves not only with a house in the mountains, but one in her hometown as well. They traveled the world together, Doyoung performing every week in a different city. Crowds would sing loudly to his song, her melody heard all throughout the audience. It would be at that moment that Doyoung would look off to the side of the stage, smiling at how she waved and cheered for him every time.
The crowd may not know the story behind his song, but to him, it was all a precious memory.

Louis has known Harry for three years now, and she's had plenty of practice avoiding thoughts like that, for her own sake and everyone else's. Part 2: they go from putting on eyeliner to sex.
As Time Goes By (6k)
Louis found herself enthralled with the way Harry talked; kind of hesitant and drawn out, like she wasn’t really expecting to be heard. Louis wondered who in Harry’s life talked over her or tried to make her stop in the middle of a story. That would be a shame, because Louis was loving their conversation. There was something about the way that Harry’s mouth formed the words, and the rasp of her voice. Louis hated talking on the phone as a rule, but she imagined she could listen to Harry talk for hours. She wanted to curl up next to her on the couch and listen to Harry talk about anything and everything.
Wow. Louis needed to get a grip. They hadn’t even opened the wine yet, and Louis was already fantasizing about cuddling Harry.
the pressure’s rising (i won’t make it through the night) (7k)
harry goes out. the night ends unexpectedly when she meets louis.
Dream About That Casual Touch (7k)
Louis and Harry fuck up two dates before they finally get it right.
Rush Crush (7k)
Stumbling through the entryway was a slender girl with dark chocolate curls. Louis picked her out of the crowd immediately seeing as how she was the only one who wasn’t wearing something overly feminine. No, this one was dressed in black skinny jeans that accentuated the obscene length of her legs. Her black Chelsea boots were shiny, softly reflecting the glow from the hanging chandelier. Louis’ eyed trailed back up and noticed the faint trace of ink showing through the girl’s white t-shirt.
In the Heat of the Night (7k)
“You’re sleeping with me, obviously,” Harry says then, pausing to regard Louis with a funny expression, nose wrinkled and brows drawn tight. “Don’t tell me you thought that I’d let you freeze out here!? Absolutely not! C’mon, the bedroom’s cozy, I dragged a space heater out.” Louis wants to protest about as badly as she wants to sleep next to Harry Styles, which is a lot. Too much. --- Or, Louis is the only butch in London with a truck and Harry needs to move a couch.
bright lights (she’s fading) (8k)
Harry and Louis are psychology students in uni. Their professor is a bit of a fuckwit who makes it seem like kink discussion in a classroom is completely normal. It gets a bit out of hand.
Who Run the World? (Girls!) (8k)
A femslash take on the beginning of Relief Next To Me, complete with girl!Direction, lots of tongue action, and lots of hints to the original work.
lonely in a crowded space (8k)
Harry runs a coffee shop and Louis is half-famous. They meet again years after a turbulent past.
Riding Comfortable (8k)
Harry is the 19-year-old intern, Louis is the 25-year-old CEO, and they fuck in the office a lot.
Always Enjoy the Taste (9k)
the Starbucks AU where Harry writes a pick-up line on Louis' cup every day
From Now Until Forever (9k)
The girls go to Britney Nite and Louis wears Juicy track pants and Harry is not ok.
Make The Yuletide Gay (9k)
A Christmas In Connecticut AU in which Louis is a mommy blogger, Harry is a pop star, and nobody's really what they seem. Featuring a lot of lying, tons of domesticity, some badly faked heterosexuality, and a few Christmas kisses.
Clap your hands (if you’re feeling gay) (10k)
Louis has had a shit year involving a shit break up. The last thing she wants when coming to Minehead is to meet someone new. She is 'getting away from it all' by going to work in a language school in one of the crappiest places imaginable. The chances of meeting anyone hot, let alone anyone hot and into girls, are nil. So why is she so obsessed with the hot, tall, curl haired girl who happens to be her boss? Why does she fall head over converse heels just as soon as she steps foot in the centre? Those are questions that Louis refuses to even acknowledge, let alone answer. That is until her curly haired boss asks to kiss her, and she has to confront them all.
Lumiere, Darling (11k)
She’s so gone it’s not even funny. It really isn’t funny because falling in love with your best friend is such a stupid, idiotic, dumb thing to do, and there’s only ever a happy ending in romantic comedies. Louis (she claims, loudly and publicly whenever anyone will listen despite the fact that she’ll watch them with Harry any time Harry asks her to) hates romantic comedies. The thing is, when it really comes down to it, Louis never stood a chance.
Wild at Heart Ain’t Hard to Find (11k)
Louis and her best friends Niall and Liam always take an annual vacation together. This year Niall has picked Redwater Canyon, a small tourist town where everyone lives like it's the Old West. There are saloons, stagecoaches, and limited access to WiFi. The town boasts tours, excursions, activities, and the hottest woman Louis has ever seen in the form of the local blacksmith.
bambi legs (11k)
Harry works at her family’s fabric store sometimes and always sells the most interesting fabrics to Louis. Louis is the wannabe fashion designer who keeps buying fabric she doesn’t necessarily need just to find a way to talk to Harry.
my heart is untamed, still (12k)
the one where Harry pines and Louis' mean, but it's not so fun when the tables are turned.
Crystal Ball on the Table (12k)
Harry Styles is just an ordinary witch from an old-fashioned Boston family trying to survive in her regular job as the fiction manager at a local bookstore and café. Her magic isn't exactly something she advertises when looking for potential new girlfriends, so when Louis Tomlinson arrives in her life like a breath of fresh air, she tries her best to hide how strongly her magic is reacting to Louis' presence.
sink into tomorrow (13k)
Harry is the new (supposedly heterosexual) freshman who gets convinced by pretty blue eyes and soft skin to join a club about body positivity and self-image. Louis is the definitely-not-male upperclassman who makes her come to terms with some things she's been denying.
long way from the playground (14k)
Louis should really get over being in love with her best friend. Harry doesn't help by acting less than platonic.
just a touch of your love (15k)
The only thing standing in the way of Harry and Louis getting together are...well, Harry and Louis.
Blush (15k)
the Christmas FxF Larry fic in which Louis is 99.5% sure she's straight and Harry likes to walk around shirtless and watch lesbian films
i found my place, i see your face (15k)
Harry and Louis hate each other but they’re forced to be in the vicinity of each other because they’re friends with the same people. They’re also forced to work together for a Christmas concert and end up falling in love, which obviously surprises no one.
Love You a Latte (16k)
Louis Tomlinson doesn’t drink coffee and definitely doesn’t go to Starbucks. Enter barista Harry Styles. Add a double shot of espresso, stir in 90s references to taste, and top with whipped cream and love. Or, the coffee shop AU featuring girl direction, creative espresso, and a professor and a barista falling in love in one beautiful autumn.
and we live like legends now (16k)
harry works at a juice bar, and louis is the cute girl that skates at the park right next door.
Diamonds in the Moonlight (16k)
The 70s au where Harry is a rich girl stuck in the suburbs who thinks she loves Shaun Cassidy, and Louis is the skater who breaks into her backyard and changes everything forever.

Part 1: It bubbles in her chest, dissolving in her lungs like sour salt on her tongue, it rises to her throat, transforming into an elated hum. Their heartbeats battle between their skin, and the feel of a pulse should not be as riveting as it is, but Louis finds herself yearning for it, stretching her neck, tensing her muscles in longing. And then Harry presses her lips sweetly to Louis', letting electricity tingle between their two lips. "You taste like strawberry margaritas," Louis whispers.
Part 2: the sequel about the morning after where harry and louis try to make breakfast, harry is quite literally hot and cold and sweet fluff ensues

Part 1: And now she’s here, on her way to seeing Louis again for the first time since that first night and it’s… she’s just a bit nervous is all.
Part 2: It’s been five days since Harry had Louis pushed up against the kitchen windowsill and they haven’t spoken a word since.
Part 3: Harry is the kind of girl who deserves to be taken out on sweet romantic dates and to be showered in compliments because she's never expecting them. And now she's with Louis. And Harry acts like she's the one that lucked out.
Daisy Chains series (20k)
Part 1: Ten minutes later, an awkward, long-legged, curly-haired, so pale she’s reflective, and so obviously gay-looking Harry Styles is sitting shotgun next to Louis in a bikini, denim cut-offs, and heart-framed sunnies. Or, Harry and Louis and a too-small bathing suit.
Part 2: Harry thinks it’s a fever-induced delirium, at first. After all, she’s been sick in bed for a full forty-eight hours following the Best and Most Important beach trip of her entire life because fate is a cruel and jealous bitch who doesn’t want Harry to go on a date with the girl of her dreams. or, Harry is sick and Louis comes to visit her.
back and forth (i kinda like it that way) (20k)
girl!direction where they all work at a magazine. Liam is the big boss, Zayn is her girlfriend and raises her eyebrows a lot. Louis is 24 and a sports journalist, and not equipped to deal with Harry, who's a gorgeous 21 year old intern, that will be leaving at the end of the summer - so it's not like she should get involved anyway, right?

Harry refuses to return her book to the library and Louis has no patience
tell them we’re like magnets (31k)
Louis and Harry are roommates and best mates who like to kiss when they're drunk. Louis doesn't want her feelings to ruin things, so she starts seeing someone else, but she still can't seem to stop kissing Harry. uni au where girl direction/little mix live together and get wasted a lot and make questionable choices.

“What the fuck did you do to my shampoo?” Harry shouts, brandishing the offending bottle like it’s a vial of poison. “Is this fucking mud? Did you honestly replace my shampoo with mud?” “Not just your shampoo,” Louis says calmly, then cracks up when Harry visibly pales. Harry and Louis are camp counsellors. They hate each other. The amount of sex they have in the camp showers probably contradicts that.
If I Was Stronger (50k)
AU where Louis holds universes inside her, and Harry just wants to hold her.
I love your demons (like devils can) (60k)
Harry didn’t plan to join the football team. She didn’t plan to sleep with the captain of the football team. She definitely didn’t plan to sleep with the closeted captain of the football team, who promptly acted as if nothing happened and left Harry a pathetic, pining mess.

The Perculating History of Coffee
Hey y’all, I know I promised a discussion on Kurt Cobain and Nirvana this week. After thinking about it and not feeling all that motivated, I decided to push it back to next week. I feel I have talked too much about people with these past few posts, so I decided to change this week’s topic to coffee. I was looking through my list of ideas, but I was not motivated with choosing another person. While I do enjoy coffee, Emilee (my beautiful bride-to-be) gave me the idea of coffee after I told her a story about Austria (which I hope to include below). So, this week’s discussion will be about coffee around the world. I will be discussing what every continent drinks, but with my post about food from around the world, there is no strong backing to what people of Antarctica eat that is strictly from that kind of culture, because of a lack of it. Anyways, without further ado, let’s brew some coffee.
Tumblr media
Starting with North America, coffee was rumored to arrive in North America through Dutch trade in New Amsterdam. The Dutch were the first to claim the New York area and occupied it roughly from 1624 to 1664. It was referenced as a beverage that was made with roasted coffee beans from Mocha, Yemen and often sweetened with honey, sugar, or cinnamon to make the bitter drink more appealing.  When the English took over the area, the tradition of coffee became more prominent within that area. In Delaware, coffee was often purchased by William Penn as he thought it was a favorable drink. When America threw the tea into the harbor and declared coffee as the national beverage like champions, coffee became an American tradition. In 1844, the start of the average Joe coffee shop emerged in cities such as St. Louis, Missouri and New Orleans, Louisiana. St. Louis became more of a favorite stop across America. The two stops became favorites for America up until the 1920s. For St., Louis, bakeries and coffee shops would often serve their coffee with crumble cakes. These cakes were later called coffee cakes. I grew up with coffee cakes eating them usually on Sunday. I know I am biased, but my mom hands-down makes the best coffee cake. For New Orleans, the French and Spanish influence provided coffee to become more of a staple. Personally, I have never been to New Orleans, but I plan on sitting at Café Du Monde drinking some chicory coffee and eating beignets. In the 1920s, coffee shops and bakeries started becoming more prominent and eventually overshadowed these unique coffee shops. Café Du Monde, however, is still famous today. Now, while the Middle East, specifically the bottom of the Arabian Peninsula at Yemen is where coffee became a commodity, South America today has a strong tradition in coffee.
Tumblr media
Whenever someone thinks South America in terms of coffee, the first country to pop up is almost always Colombia. When I worked under Prof. Jones, he had a guest speaker from Colombia come in and he discussed this stereotype. Honestly, this stereotype does hold up. While there are many beautiful things about Colombia from looks to culture, the coffee industry is vital to the core of the Colombian economy. Coffee was introduced to Colombia through Jesuit priests. The Jesuits were and are essentially devout Catholics who dedicated their lives to missions. They had deep connections with Spain through the papacy which allowed them to go wherever Spain colonized. Through this, a Jesuit priest may have enjoyed coffee so much that he planted some in Colombia in the mid-1500s. By the 1830s, Colombia began exporting 2500 bags of coffee to the United States which brewed a stirring fascination with the bitter drink. By the 1870s, Colombia exported 170,000 bags of coffee to the U.S. and Europe. Today, the number of coffee bags sent around the world is at roughly 11.5 million bags. Thanks to the Jesuits, Colombia dark roasted coffee fills the veins of almost everyone who drinks it worldwide. While researching South American coffee this week, two other countries surprised me with their coffee history. These two countries are Brazil and Honduras.
Tumblr media
Brazil is interesting enough. It is the largest countries in South America, and they speak Portuguese rather than Spanish like the majority of the continent. Pro tip for y’all, if you are ever questioned about what countries in South America that do not speak Spanish, always go for Brazil or Belize (they speak English, it was called British Mexico at one point in time). Anyways, coffee is Brazil started off as a form of bio or eco-espionage. In the 1700s, a guy named Francisco de Melo Palheta planted the crop out of spite. He was told that it would not be able to grow, but it was able to. I’m not sure which guy upset him enough to plant a delicious drink, but thanks, guy! Brazil gained its independence from Portugal in 1822, so by the 1830s coffee was the cash crop for Brazilian farmers. To this day, Brazil is the largest exporter in the world for coffee beans only to be ahead of Vietnam and Colombia. Lastly, we have to talk about Honduran coffee.
Tumblr media
Honduras is a small country that is nestled within Central America. While Honduran coffee is not well known worldwide, does not export much of what is grown. To me, this means that the coffee trade is more local than globally. Since the growth, production, and export of this bean was limited and still is to this day, it is often mixed with other Central American coffee blends. Despite this, Honduras is the top contributor to the coffee export in Central America. There is not much on the coffee trade here, and I personally have never had Honduran coffee, I appreciate that most of the coffee is kept for the locals. South American coffee is as large as Brazil and I could go on and on, but we must move on. Asia is one other continent that proves to be a mover and shaker in the world of coffee.
Tumblr media
Whenever I think of coffee that comes from Asia, my mind always goes to that cool looking tiger logo that Starbucks has for its Sumatran blend. Sumatra is a large island located below the Malay Peninsula and to the west of Java (fun coffee names, woo!) Indonesia was originally called the Dutch East Indies until 1945. The Dutch East Indies was known for its spices as well as coffee. The Dutch had limited colonies in India, but the local governors enjoyed Arabic coffee very much. So, the Dutch decided to make use of the ample soil and grow coffee for themselves. This worked out well, and it created a unique outcome. Dutch farming methods in the East Indies mostly focused on rubber production, so coffee was not the cash crop. But, aside from rubber, coffee beans were bred and created its own Arabica bean. The coffee from this area is often blended with South American or Africa coffee to balance out the acidity within the coffee. While Indonesia is a prominent country for coffee, another country that surprised me in Asia was Vietnam.
Tumblr media
Vietnam is the second largest producer of coffee behind Brazil. While Vietnam is not very large, like Brazil, it is long. The length of Vietnam allows it to contain several different climates, with enough farmland in the Northern Viet region and the Annam region to the South. Vietnam is a large exporter of coffee, and I wondered why until I simply googled Vietnamese coffee. Vietnamese coffee is practically drunk every day and people do not realize it. One could go to Starbucks and order a Vietnamese coffee. To do that, you walk up to the barista and just order an iced coffee. While iced coffee is not authentic, Vietnam holds claims to establish it as their original idea. To make it authentic is easy. You would just ask for three shots of espresso and three shots of white mocha in an iced coffee. Which sounds delicious to me. Lastly in the Asian continent for coffee, we will be talking about Arabica coffee.
Tumblr media
Arabica coffee or as it is known scientifically is Coffea Arabica. This roughly translates to “coffee shrub of Arabia or “mountain coffee”. Since I am not a botanist, Arabica is just a specific type of coffee that comes from the Arabian Peninsula. I won’t necessarily go over every country in the peninsula. Since I have mentioned Yemen, that is where coffee mostly came from before it was planted overseas in the New World. Yemen also holds the region of Mocha where much of the coffee in the Old World was produced. Yemen, fortunately, sits on a nice area geographically. It is close to the horn of Africa and it is in close proximity to India if you take a left. Yemen is relatively close to Ethiopia.
Tumblr media
Ethiopia was a powerhouse in Africa before World War Two. It was known as the Abyssinian Empire and housed the Solomonic Dynasty. The Coptic religion also boomed in Ethiopia. I would explain that, but I doubt I would do a good job. Anyways, seeing as I have to cover Europe still, I will briefly discuss African coffee through Ethiopia. Coffea Arabica originated in Ethiopia. So, more or less, the most popular coffee blend in the world that almost everyone drinks originated in Ethiopia. Unfortunately, there was an endemic that hit Ethiopian coffee plants nearly wiping out the Arabica coffee out of Ethiopia. Today, the plant is very rare. I have tried Ethiopian coffee once before during my very first semester of college in 2012. I was taking a course on anthropology and we watched a video on the impact of the coffee trade. While I don’t remember much of it, there was a giant thing of Ethiopian coffee in the back of the classroom. To this day, I thank my professor for changing my palette and making me a coffee snob. Hands down, Ethiopian coffee is the best, in my opinion, only to be rivaled by Rwandan coffee. Anyways, time for Europe, the guys who moved and shook down coffee to around the world.
Tumblr media
Europe is the center of the coffee shop or café tradition. Many people would go to France, which was the cultural center of Europe in the 19th century to enjoy this hot concoction. France, however, was not the first country to establish this. I once talked to a missionary from Austria who gave me a rundown of how coffee was started there. Austrian coffee is a must and often a cultural thing there. Many Austrians or visiting Europeans would coffee shops, sit, drink coffee, and smoking. Vienna was a contestant for the cultural capital of Europe and did give France a run for its money. While it didn’t receive the fame and glory France did, it still had a huge influence on Europe prior to the 19th century. Anyways, the first coffee shop in Vienna opened in 1683 after Georg Franz Kolschitvzky obtained a license to sell. Since his last name is hard to say and confusing to type, we’re just going to call him Georg. Georg was a war hero and well known by upper-crust Vienna society. He fought at Ottomans during the Siege of Vienna. When the Ottomans left, they also left a hot commodity with them, Turkish coffee. Georg got the idea to take the left-over coffee and use it to sell back to the Viennese people. With that, the Austrian coffee culture was born.
Tumblr media
The last country I will talk about is Italy. Italy is often known for its delicious espresso. Before Italy unified in the 19th century, Venetian ports were some of the first places in Europe to import coffee in the 16th Century. Three centuries later, Italian coffee shops became prominent grounds for rebellion or dissent. Italy in the 19th century saw the battles of Napoleon and eventually the wars of Italian reunification. Men who planned the uprisings and objectives for the unification of the peninsula often met at Italian cafes to discuss. These men would often wear bowler hats and plan for a greater Italian nation.
Tumblr media
While this post did not cover all the great hot spots for coffee around the world, I do hope it was long enough for you to read while taking a sip of your favorite percolated brew!
Next Week: Kurt Cobain

Dedicated to my sweet family
SET THE SCENE
I’ve been on my fair share of cruises – Hawaii, Caribbean, and another Alaskan cruise by Holland Cruise lines – and thus, I think I can safely say that I have had enough comparison to write a pretty good review on a cruise ship. The Bliss is the newest and biggest ship to sail the Alaskan waters and I will say it definitely lives up to its ship name. But before I go into the ship, let me give you a snapshot of beautiful Alaska.
Cerulean blue waters with hints of green flow around the gorgeous state of Alaska. The skies alternate between clear blue and a light gray and there is a chill in the air that is a profound welcomed relief from the humid heat of Texas (where I’m from). The air is devoid of heavy pollution and car traffic fumes and every city has its quiet charm. Salmon in every shape and color climb the salmon ladders while bald eagles dominate the skies.
The cold air is contrasted by a hot cup of chowder in chilled hands. One of the little things in life is having your insides immediately warmed by sip of a hot latte. Or being in the middle of a forest surrounded by trees connected together by fairy lights while roasting marshmallows over a large fire.
The most brilliant sharp icy blue glaciers and its pieces float enchantingly and menacingly in the waters. Whales swim by, peaking their heads and showing off their tails as cruisers lean over, awed, with binoculars. Waterfalls bloom out of the sides of mountains with the force of the water creating a thunderous sound.
This state is so breathtaking in every way.
THE BASICS
Time of Travel: July Type of Travel: Family
THE SHIP
Size: While Bliss is definitely not the biggest cruise ship in the world, it definitely appears like the biggest ship on the Alaskan waters when all the ships are parked next to each other at the ports. It’s impressive to see from afar and to walk up to when returning from the city.
We saw so many whales from our cruise ship windows! Not the best photo but I got too excited and eventually put away my camera to just enjoy the magnificent sights
Exterior Décor: The front of the ship is beautifully decorated and my brother and I joked that the artwork definitely invited all the whales to swim up near our ship. I was honestly so surprised by how many whales I saw on the cruise – definitely more than the last time I was in Alaska. The front of the ship is illustrated with the wildlife of the ocean – whales, turtles, and rays. It’s the perfect artwork for a cruise ship.
Interior Décor: The inside of the ship is also tastefully ornamented. In the center of the ship is a gorgeous glass-appearing staircase that wraps around and glitters in the light. The hot tubs are purposefully placed at the tail end of the ship and on the sides so there is a clear view of the ocean. Every room is carefully constructed to its theme.
Service: The staff on the ship is 5/5 stars. They are so incredibly friendly and accommodating and always willing to strike up a good conversation with you but they also know when to leave you alone as well. They always have a smile for you and their response to everything is quick. They all come from different countries around the world and it is fascinating to hear their stories and everywhere they have traveled!
THINGS TO DO ON THE SHIP
Observation Lounge: Located at the front of the ship, this area was one of my favorite areas on the ship. Decked out in large windows showcasing the beauty of Alaska, the lounge is full of comfy arm chairs and the best part? The bar in the middle as well as two buffets of tea time food fully stocked with finger sandwiches, salads, and desserts. On the days at sea, it’s the perfect area to chill with family and friends, play cards, and observe the Alaskan magnificence without being in the cold.
The Pool and Aqua Park: On one of the top decks of the ship is the pool and the incredible water slides on the ship. There is one water slide where you slide down in rafts and there is one thrilling slide that literally hangs over the ocean! There is a fun area where the kids congregate and hot tubs that dot the sides of the ship as well as the rear end. I highly recommend chilling in the hot tubs at the rear so you can see the full view of the ocean behind you as the ship sails.
Race Track: Yes, this ship has a whole level dedicated to a race track where you can race your family and friends either in a single cart or a double seater cart.
TIP: Book your reservations before you get onto the ship! My family and I did not realize that seats were limited so we did not get to try out this part of the cruise.
It does cost a small fee per drive
Mini Golf
Laser Tag: a small fee
Bliss Casino
Video Arcade
Bowling Alley: a small two lane bowling alley. It gets busy really fast! A small fee
Entourage Teen Club: a haven away from the parents – this place has video games, music, movies!
Fitness Center: this fitness center is legit. There is a running track outside and every machine and weight you could possibly need for a week long cruise.
Guppies: A great area for parents and their kids. Many interactive activities
Hair Salon
Plenty of Spas
Mandara Spa and Salon
Spa Salt Room – natural salt caves – halotherapy
Spa Snow Room – an ice cold arctic environment
Spa Thermal Suite
SHOWS
My favorite thing about cruises is the kind of night time entertainment the ship provides meaning the evening shows. I would say my review for this ship’s shows is probably a 4/5 stars in comparison to the other ships I’ve been on. The best shows I’ve seen on a ship still goes to Allure of the Seas, but this ship definitely provides a great entertainment and truly hats off to the hard working actresses and actors!
Happy Hour Prohibition: The Musical – $30 per person. This musical is set in a speakeasy and set in the Prohibition Era. My family and I chose not to see this one just because there was a fee and plenty of other free shows to see
Jersey Boys – such a great show about Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons
Havana – set at The Palace of Lights, this show brings you the beat and culture of Cuba (takes me back to my time in the Cuban capital!)
The great bands on the ship that play across different bars and lounges
Plenty of comedy shows – make sure you book when you get on the ship!
SHIP ROOM
My family of four booked two separate rooms without ocean views. I always encourage people that if you go on a cruise, try to book rooms with ocean views but obviously if it’s not affordable or available, then it is definitely not the end of the world. I only encourage ocean views for two reasons. One, I think it really helps with orientation to time and feeling as though you are not holed up on the ship. A window or a balcony brings light, views, and a breath of fresh air.
But like I said before, if you can’t get a room with ocean views, then it is completely okay too! My family got non-ocean view rooms and we were completely satisfied. The rooms were on the smaller side (but to be expected with cruise ships), but they were clean. The beds were super comfortable and could be put together or turned into two beds. The TV has a huge list of movies to buy but also a great select of TV channels that plays a cycle of movies depending on genre (action, romance, drama).
Nothing better than opening the door to your room and finding complimentary champagne!
BARS AND LOUNGES
There are so many bars and lounges on the ship and they are all excellent. So many options to choose from that I didn’t even get a chance to make it to all of them
Atrium Bar: This is the center of the ship and where a lot of the main ship’s entertainment occurs. There is a stage area and a movie screen where there are nightly movies and hilarious game shows.
Horizon Lounge
Humidor Cigar Lounge
Maltings Whiskey Bar
Mixx Bar
Skyline Bar
Social Comedy and Night Club
Spice H2O – the pool bar
Sugarcane Mojito Bar
The A-List Bar
The Cavern Club
The District Brew House
Vide Beach Club
THE FOOD
The Local: The 24hr pub experience! The two pros of this place is that it is open 24 hrs, the food is free, and there is a great view of the Atrium Bar stage meaning you can eat and watch entertainment one floor below
The Dining Rooms: There are three dining rooms on the ship that you can eat lunch and dinner at. Unlike the other cruises I’ve been on where you had to make reservations ahead of time and to eat at an assigned time, this cruise gives you the liberty to go whenever you would like. Because there are several dining rooms, there is always plenty of space at any time and thus you can dine on your own schedule.
Every day, there is a menu posted outside the dining rooms. You don’t have to look at each of the dining rooms’ menus because they are all the same. The menu does change for lunch and dinner every day
My mom was a bit disappointed that there was no true formal night with a lobster dish as we have found on other cruise ships
The Garden Café Buffet: I have to say that usually I am not a fan of the cruise buffets. The food usually is sub-par, but I have to say I was mildly impressed with the menu at this buffet. My family and I actually ended up eating here more than the dining rooms because of the expansive options and the ever changing menu.
There are hamburger/hot dog stations, Indian food station, a hot food station that changes every day according to the theme, Italian station, cold cuts station, Asian food station, salad station, and a huge dessert station
For drinks, there is a bar and non-alcoholic beverages such as tea, coffee, and different flavored waters
Room Service: This is complimentary and 24hrs a day but there is a service fee!
Restaurants (not complementary)
Ocean Blue – Seafood
Los Lobos – Mexican
Food Republic – Fusion
Cagney’s Steakhouse
Coco’s – Chocolate, Crepes
Dolce Gelato
Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville at Sea
La Cucina – Italian
Le Bistro – French
Q – Texas BBQ
Teppanyaki
The Bake Shop
Starbucks
Tea Time Snacks
Room service juice with my champagne to make mimosas
PROS AND CONS
Pros
The last Alaskan cruise I went on seemed catered to adults, but I was pleasantly surprised to see that this cruise really catered to family and the young kids.
Flexible dining room schedule
Plenty of activities on the ship
Friendly staff
Entertaining game shows that allows most of the ship guests to interact with each other
The buffet food is better than the other cruise ships I’ve sailed with
They have a package that every room gets on the ship – meaning that your price of the cruise comes with every ship getting a certain amount off at each excursion per port or a drinking ticket in which all the alcoholic beverages were free
They were also very big on hygiene and sanitizers
Cons
No main lobster dish
Not a true formal night on the ship (this is a pro or con depending on what your opinion of this is)
Most of the activities on the ship came with a small fee
The room service food was definitely not as good in quality as the rest of the food on the ship
ITINERARY

July 8, 2018: Blackpink in your Area
안녕하세요,
I was already on my third week here in Seoul and I still haven't gone out and explore the city at all. So I did what a regular international student would do here in Seoul - I went on a K-Pop adventure.
I wanted to visit the idol cafés all around the city, but upon further research, I found out that many of them are so spread out in opposite corners so I had to narrow everything down to the accessible areas and save the rest for another day. For example, I wanted to visit the filming locations of Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo (Yeokdo-yojeong Kim Bokjoo/역도요정 김복주), especially Bok Chicken, but the locations are just too far from the ones I had planned to go that day.
On Sunday, July 8, I visited four idol cafés and restaurants: Yesung's Mouse Rabbit, Donghae's Haru & One Day, Chanyeol's Viva Polo, and Jongsuk's 89 Mansion. I decided to just visit the cafés that day and maybe take my time and sit down to study in each one during exam week.
The directions to each café is linked on the titles.
First stop: Super Junior's Yesung's Mouse Rabbit (Mobit) Café
My first stop took me to the area around Konkuk University called Kondae (건대), which was packed with clothing stores and street foods. This quick walk made me realize how empty the day and night life are around Anam-dong, the area surrounding Korea University. Street vendors would yell across the street for the people to buy tteokbokki (spicy rice cake/떡볶이) or cheap clothes from them, compared to Anam-dong where it is quiet most of the time, with a group of friends laughing in a corner once in a while.
I managed to find Mouse Rabbit after a couple minutes of being lost and getting distracted by the nice clothes in the shops around Kondae (건대). The exterior of the café was not very impressive and it was situated in an isolated area. I entered Mouse Rabbit, looked at the price list and left. I was not about to blow ₩10,000 on a latte when I had other cafés to visit - sorry Yesung.
I left Mouse Rabbit and headed to Donghae's Haru & One Day, which was one subway stop away.
Tumblr media
Second stop: Super Junior's Donghae's Haru & One Day Café
Following the instructions on the blog, it was very easy to spot Donghae's café - it was right in front of the exit! I liked the exterior look and the vibe of the café and the interior was also really nice. Donghae has a big portrait of Audrey Hepburn hanging on the wall, contributing to the minimalist and relaxing ambience of the place. I could really see myself studying in a place like this - honestly, who needs to study in the library or Starbucks in Seoul when you have idol cafés. You're still drinking overpriced coffee, you're still sitting on a coffee table overlooking the busy streets - the only different is that you have a higher chance of meeting an idol when they do decide to visit their cafés.
Tumblr media
Third stop: EXO's Chanyeol's Viva Polo
Well, Chanyeol's mom owns and runs the restaurant, but this place was Chanyeol heaven! The blog I abe linked doesn't mention this but when you do take the subway, make sure to take the one going to Sangil-dong (상일동) and not Macheon (마천). Line 5 splits in Gangdong (강동), so make sure to get off there if you end up taking the wrong train (heading to Macheon/마천) and just board the next one, which is usually headed to Sangil-dong (상일동) since they both alternate.
From Donghae's Haru & OneDay, it took me a good 40 minutes to wait and ride for the subways, so Chanyeol's place was the most "out of the way" location I had during the day.
Viva Polo is located on the second floor, so you have to take the stairs up, but the whole stairway has pictures and drawings of Chanyeol plastered all over with written notes and presents left by the fans of the EXO member. Unfortunately, I arrived there around 3:40 PM and they close the restaurant for break from 3-5 PM. I had more than an hour to spare, and I did not know what I would do until then since the location of the Italian restaurant was not in a very popular or lively area so I decided to just head to Gangnam for Jongsuk's 89 Mansion Café.
Tumblr media
Final stop: Lee Jongsuk's 89 Mansion
Being a new café, there's not a lot of blogs out there that tells you how to get there - and it was quite a walk from Sinsa Station (신사역) - you might want to save the directions on your map for this one beforehand.
Most of the blogs I've found were just about the café itself and how luxurious and pretty it was. Situated in Gangnam, it's obviously pricier than Mouse Rabbit and Haru & OneDay - Jongsuk is really out here charging me ₩16,000 on egg bacon benedict. I wanted to sit down and enjoy the place, so I ordered a lemonade for ₩8,000 and watched the beautiful Korean men work their magic with my lemonade.
I think Jongsuk has a criteria on how his workers want to look like - it's all about the image here in Gangnam, and Jongsuk joined in on the trend.
89 Mansion is divided into two sections - the café is on the first floor and the restaurant is on the second floor. While my lemons were being aded (HA!), I went upstairs to see the restaurant, and I stayed there long enough to take pictures of the words painted by Jongsuk himself and the picturesque red frame to the right of the stairs before being asked to go back to the first floor because I only ordered "café drinks" and not "restaurant foods" - okay Jongsuk.
I am planning to go back there soon to try out the food though, since everything is so beautiful and fits my aesthetic.
Tumblr media
I spent a whole half day travelling from café to café that I forgot to eat my lunch, so while on the way back to Sinsa Station (신사역), I stopped by a Vietnamese restaurant called Hanoi Plate.
I have been missing home lately, and the biggest things that are making me homesick are the Mexican and Vietnamese food. I come from an area in Los Angeles that is really famous for the good Mexican and Vietnamese food, and having been eating Chinese, Japanese, and Korean food everyday the past month, I realized how much I actually missed my good food from home.
The Mexican food by Anam-dong don't look appetizing - I feel like they've never even seen Mexican food before.
I saw the words bánh mì written by the name of the restaurant and I sprinted in. Bánh mì is my go-to food back home - there's a Bánh Mì Chè Cali branch right next to my house and I stop by everyday to buy myself a bánh mì sandwich for my school lunch and snack. It's my stress food - so better believe I sprinted into Hanoi Plate the moment I saw those two Vietnamese words.
I didn't realize they specialized in North Vietnamese food, so I wanted to try something new - Bún chả, grilled pork and noodles. The meal was so delicious that it made me miss my local Vietnamese foods back home some more.
Tumblr media
K-Star Road Adventures
Since I was already in Gangnam, I decided to just head to the K-Star Road and take pictures of the JYP Entertainment (GOT7, 2PM, TWICE, Stray Kids), Around Us Entertainment (Highlight), and FNC Entertainment (CNBLUE, F.T. Island, SF9, AOA, N.Flying) buildings and see the GangnamDols just down Apgujeong street. There's a map of the area that shows you where the entertainment buildings and specific GangnamDols are located.
JYP Entertainment just moved to a new location four days prior to my visit at the building, although the pictures and notes in the Dunkin' Donuts in front of the old JYP building were still present.
Tumblr media
Just next to JYP building was the Around Us Entertainment building, managed by Highlight themselves after refusing to renew their contract as Beast with their former label, Cube Entertainment, and leaving the company back in 2016. Since Cube has copyrighted the group name Beast, they decided to rename themselves Highlight in 2017.
Then I visited FNC Entertainment, which was just behind the Around Us building. Two guys in face masks and caps walked by and groups of girls were waving at them and trying to talk to them, and to this day, I still don't know who they are. Maybe they're trainees? Maybe they're rookies? Maybe they're backup dancers? I will never know.
Tumblr media
Facing JYP building to the left is Apgujeong street, which has the GangnamDols lined up leading to the Galleria. GangnamDols are these bear statues dressed up in K-Pop groups' iconic logos and colors. There were seventeen GangnamDols during my visit and I expect it to grow larger throughout the years: they had a GangnamDol for BTS, EXO, SHINee, Super Junior, 4Minute, 2PM, Girls' Generation, CNBLUE, VIXX, miss A, BLOCK B, among others.
Tumblr media
I decided to take the long way and walked to Apgujeong Station (압구정역) instead of going back to where I got off at Cheongdam Station (청당역) since I wanted to take the time and appreciate Gangnam at night - the bright lights, the way people in Gangnam interact with each other, and how they dress their dogs. Halfway during my walk, my Kakao Talk notified me of a text from John:
Tumblr media
EXCUSE ME, JOHN? WHERE ARE YOU? I DID NOT EVEN KNOW BLACKPINK WAS HOLDING A FAN MEET? SEND ME YOUR LOCATION NOW! It was 8 PM in the posh area of Gangnam where everyone minds how beautifully they look when they walk, but I was running to Apgujeong Station (압구정역) drenching in sweat. It takes about 30 minutes to go from Apgujeong Station (압구정역) to Yeouido Station (여의도역) without counting the wait between transfers. I was looking at arriving about 45-60 minutes after John sending the text of Blackpink arriving at IFC Mall. To make matters worse, I didn't even know where IFC Mall was! I had no idea how much walking I would be doing to reach the mall. I didn't even know where in IFC Mall the event was held at. Welp! At least I'm trying. I had no other plans anyway and I had four hours until the last subway leaves for the night. I reached Yeouido Station (여의도역) at 9:05 PM, almost an hour since John sent the text. There were two towers - IFC Towers 1 and 2. I went in IFC Tower 1 to a crowd of people leaving. I missed it. I missed Blackpink. I walked to the center of a very-quiet-and-empty second floor of the mall and asked one of the massage workers about a Blackpink event.
"It might be over", she broke my heart.
Well, I guess I would just head over to the food court area, have dinner, and call it a night.
I noticed a crowd were gathering at the edges of the open area on the second floor, looking down at the first floor. I was curious to see what they were so fixated on - Blackpink was still doing the fan signing!
Both the stairs and the escalators going down to the first floor were blocked, and by the looks of the crowd downstairs, I had a better view of Blackpink from the second floor - so I stayed and watched the event from above.
Jisoo and Jennie were on the far corner of the table, while Lisa and Rosé were closer to my area, so throughout the night, I tried to get both their attentions.
Lisa heard me multiple times but could not locate where the voice was coming from. She would look up side to side and wave at the area where she thought the voice was coming from, but no.
After the fan signing, they were asked to sign four Blackpink sweatshirts to give away as a raffle for the people sitting down in the area.
I stayed there until 9:45 PM when they left. It was my last chance to get their attention, so I kept calling for Lisa's name.
She looked around and gave the "where is that voice coming from?" look and hand motion. Rosé located me though, and looked up to smile at me.
No luck with Lisa.
Jennie and Jisoo followed Lisa and Rosé exit the stage, and no luck with the other two members.
Tumblr media
I guess my night ended well. I took the subway back to Anam Station (안암역) and got myself chocolate sundae and fries at McDonald's.
I should keep doing K-Pop activities if nights like this happen, I guess? Until then!
고마워요, Chris 「크리스」
P.S. I actually just received my confirmation to attend SBS's "The Show" rehearsal at the SBS Prism Tower tomorrow! KU ISC opened the tickets to only 48 students three days ago, and I was lucky enough to check my phone right after I woke up from my nap to get the ticket! I am really looking forward who I will be seeing rehearse tomorrow!

We visited Vienna at the end of February 2018. We arrived in Vienna at lunch time on a bus from Bratislava.
https://thewanderingboomerang.com/2018/04/16/bratislava/
The taxi from the bus station to our hotel was 15 euro. We stayed in 25 Hours Hotel after a long search on Air BNB and booking.com. I read about this hotel on a Vienna travel blog and made a note of it. I did my usual accommodation research and found that the Air BNB options were more expensive than 25Hours Hotel. The other hotels were also more expensive and old fashioned in comparison. I can’t recommend this place enough. It’s modern, the staff were friendly, it’s right beside the town hall/museum quarter and close to the metro.
The icing on the cake was the spa, the free yoga classes and the eco friendly shampoo and soap that was cruelty free! This hotel was made for me.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
We stayed in the standard double room (98 euro). You can stay in a room with a bathtub on the balcony for 187 euro. Sadly that was out of our price range, but the outdoor bathtub nearly tempted me. I suggested we stay one night in the room with the bathtub and one night in the standard, but they don’t let you use the bathtubs in the winter months 😦
I should also note that I write this blog purely because I enjoy it and I don’t get paid to advertise hotels. I only recommend places I truly love. Thankfully they have hotels Berlin, Cologne, Dussledorf, Frankfurt, Hamburg, Munich, Paris and Zurich. I will definitely stay in 25Hours again in future.
Tumblr media
https://www.25hours-hotels.com/en/hotels/vienna/at-museumsquartier
We checked into the hotel and walked to Naschmarkt. This outdoor market is 1 mile long and has been running since the 16th century. It was such good fun bantering with the vendors. They shout at you “where are you from” and “try this, it’s an aphrodisiac”. You will get bombarded by vendors giving you free tasters. We nearly had enough samples to fill us for lunch. They vast array of hummus and olives in all different flavours and colours is worth a visit alone. With plastic free fresh produce, falafels and walls of spices and teas it’s a vegans delight. Don’t miss this! On Saturdays they have a flee market at the end of the mile long strip. I was also pleased to find hot mulled wine stands along the market as it was below zero temperatures that day!
http://www.naschmarkt-vienna.com/
We walked to the Opera House in the hope of getting tickets, but we were unsuccessful. I would suggest researching online before your trip and booking in advance. The tickets can range from approximately 45-150 euro. You can get tickets for 3-4 euro if you are willing to spend half a day queuing for standing tickets, and then willing to stand for the entire show. It was a bitter cold day and our time was limited in Vienna, so we opted out! The queue is indoors for the most part.
We took a walk around and stumbled across Hofburg Palace and the Palmhaus. Go in for a nosey or make reservation to make sure you get a table.
Café Demel is another tick on the tourist list. You can walk in and buy from the shop or queue at the back to get a seat in this beautiful café. We didn’t fancy the queue and opted out!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
After exploring on foot all we were exhausted and slightly numb. It was an extremely cold day, so we went back to the hotel to warm our bones in the sauna, before heading back out at night time to the Town Hall. Over the winter months this Town Hall Ice Rink runs daily. You can pay for the whole day of skating, but we were pretty wrecked after an hour of fast skating around the rink and through the trees. This was probably our highlight of Vienna. Do not miss this!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Thankfully our hotel was 5 minutes from the Town Hall or we nipped back to the hotel for dinner at 1500 Food Market. I was able to request a vegan pizza. We went up to the 25Hours hotel rooftop bar to check out the snowy balconies before bed. The restaurant and rooftop bar were busy. I reckon it’s a popular place for the locals at the weekend.
Tumblr media
The hotel staff suggested we go to the Burggasse area for Breakfast. It was a 5 minute walk from the hotel. This is a popular place for the locals, and we had breakfast in das mobel café. It had vegan options on the menu and vegan brownies so I was in my element.
I ordered the vegan black bread (coloured with charcoal) with coconut carrot spread and pink chickpeas. Really delicious! I wish we had time to come back here so I could try the rest of the vegan options.
Tumblr media
Burggasse is right beside the metro so we jumped on the train to Schonnbrun Palace.
Schonbrunn Palace is a UNESCO world heritage site. The palace has 1441 rooms, and Mozart played here at age 6. You can stay in the palace, if you are willing to part with a good chunk of your spending money.
We walked around the grounds in the snow and sunshine, and found ballet dancers, water features, a zoo, and a café in a monument at the top of the hill to the rear of the palace.
The grounds also have a palmhouse and botanic gardens (7 euro), an orangerie (3.50 euro), maze, labyrinth, playground (5.50 euro), Hapsburgian Imperial Stables and rose gardens, but we had tired ourselves out by then. You could easily spend a whole day here and it’s free to walk around. There’s an apple strudel show outside the Café Residenz every hour (6 euro). You get a sample, the recipe and a free hotline service when making it yourself at home and need help. They also have a panorama train that takes you around the grounds (7euro, 50mins). If you have a Vienna Pass everything is free!
We booked the short tour to go inside the palace and I got a sneaky photo inside the main hall. The audio guide for the tour was interesting and helpful to understand what you were looking at. Don’t do the tour without this!
14.50 euro (short tour 22 rooms)
17.50 euro (long tour, 40 rooms),
or free with a Vienna Pass.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
We got the metro back into the city centre and jumped off at St. Stephens Church. It’s free in, but you pay to go to the roof in the smallest lift I’ve ever seen. If your claustrophobic, climb the 343 steps instead. I went up to see the tiled roof but be warned it was bitter cold up there. You can also do a tour of the catacombs below.
There’s also a rooftop bar called ‘Lamee‘ that has a free view of the church roof tiles, although you’ll have to buy a glass of wine or a coffee to sit there.
Tumblr media
We walked to Vegiezz for lunch. This is a chain vegan restaurant and we saw two on our walks around the city.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
After a long day and a lot of walking, we went back to the hotel for our last go in the spa before dinner.
Tumblr media
We went to Glasc briesl for dinner. It was a 5 minute walk from the hotel and suggested by the travel guides provided by the hotel. Good food and decent prices. The Vegan dish only 9.80 euro. I was surprised by the prices. I was warned how expensive Vienna was, but our most expensive meal was in Bratislava.
Tumblr media
Our flights were in and out of Bratislava so we booked our train back to Bratislava for 10 euro. When booking the train back to Bratislava we booked online with ‘Go Euro’. It told us to use the ticket machines at the station and use the code to print our tickets. This didn’t work and we ended up in the help desk. They only printed them for us out of pity! I would suggest printing the tickets in your hotel or buy the tickets on the ‘OBB‘ website only. You can also buy tickets at machine in Haubanhof Train Station really easily. There was a Starbucks in the station with a vegan option! They had run out unfortunately. Bring food with you!
There were no vegan options in Bratislava airport! In fact the two food options left a lot to be desired. Eat before you go or bring food with you, vegan or not!

Mohegan Sun Pocono online gambling overview
Mohegan Sun Pocono applied for all three PA online gambling licenses in Pennsylvania. However, the casino failed to act before the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board’s (PGCB) deadline to receive a package discount of all three license types for $10 million.
As a result, Mohegan Sun shelled out $4 million each for three licenses that give them the ability to offer online slot play, online table games, and online poker. However, the property got a $4 million rebate when it decided to withdraw its online poker application.
Mohegan Sun’s online Unibet Casino and Sportsbook officially launched in Pennsylvania Nov. 15, 2019.
The Unibet retail sportsbook opened at Mohegan Pocono in late September, 2019. Mohegan followed that with another retail Unibet book at their off-track betting (OTB) facility The Downs in Lehigh Valley in early March, which proved unfortunate timing with all PA gaming shutting down temporarily for coronavirus precautions in mid-March.
Mohegan Sun Pocono resort overview
Today the sprawling property known as Mohegan Sun Pocono occupies 400 acres and 82,000 square feet of gaming space. The only possible problem for a gambler at this place is deciding which game to play. The seemingly impossible choice includes more than 2,300 slot machines, more than 90 table games, and an 18-table poker room, plus live and simulcast horse racing.
Guests wishing to stay overnight or longer don’t have to bother leaving the facility to look for accommodations since there is a 268 room, four-star hotel right on the property. In addition, steps away from the gaming action, visitors can take their pick of numerous dining and beverage outlets as well as enjoy such amenities as shopping, swimming, a spa and fitness center, and varied live entertainment.
Mohegan Sun Pocono is easily accessible by car from Philadelphia, New York, New Jersey, and Delaware. Complimentary parking is provided for 5,000 vehicles.
Alternatively, there are daily arrivals and departures by bus serving multiple markets. The facility is also less than 10 miles from Scranton/Wilkes-Barre International Airport.
Accommodations
The accommodations for guests wishing to stay at the four-star hotel on the property range from standard rooms to spacious suites. All rooms and suites come with the following amenities:
Plush bedding
Smart TV with bill review and check out accessibility
iPad mini for in-room dining ordering

Casino security
Who can play in the casino?
The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board PGCB, rather than the individual casinos and racetracks, has the authority to set the minimum age for gambling in the State of Pennsylvania, which is 21 for casino gambling and 18 for gambling on horse races. Accordingly, at Mohegan Sun Pocono, no one under age 21 is allowed on the casino floor. Minors, accompanied by an adult, are permitted in the racetrack area, but only those age 18 and older are legally allowed to wager.
Security and fairness
All of the 12 currently operating legal brick and mortar casinos in the State of Pennsylvania, including Mohegan Sun Pocono, are subject to the rules and regulations of the PGCB. Mohegan Sun Pocono, like its competitors, is closely monitored to ensure that it acts responsibly in all aspects of its operation and continues to meet this agency’s strict standards for security and fairness.
Casino games
Mohegan Sun Pocono is a full-service casino in every sense of the word. Whether your preferences run to slots, video poker, traditional casino table games, or poker, this is a place where you will have no trouble finding games to your liking. This popular gambling mecca is also a racino, so whenever you feel like taking a break from the slots or tables, additional action and excitement await you with live and simulcast racing.
Slots
If you are a slot player, you will be right in your element at Mohegan Sun Pocono. If you have any problem at all, it will be in deciding what to play first out of more than 2,300 slot machines in denominations ranging from one cent to $100, incorporating the latest cutting edge technology.
This casino offers everything from familiar favorites to the latest variations of these popular games to some of the newest slot machines on the market. All of the Mohegan Sun slot machines use coinless ticket-in and ticket-out technology.
Some of the featured games include:
Monopoly
Hot Shot Progressives
Dragon Spin
Hot Hot 8 Bier Haus
Hot Shot Twin Fire
Playboy Club
88 Fortunes
Grand Dragon
Panda King
Britney Spears
If only the slots paid better
Some slot players complain about the smell of smoke. But judging by the infrequency of such complaints on review sites for this casino compared to other Pennsylvania casinos, Mohegan Sun may be doing a better job keeping the smell of smoke out of the nonsmoking areas of the casino. That is not to say that there is not still room for improvement.
That being said, Mohegan Sun slot players complain vociferously about the machines being too tight. It really doesn’t matter which casino one chooses, though. Slot players are uniformly saying that the slot payouts fall far short of their expectations all across Pennsylvania.
It is not their imagination or a temporary run of bad luck that leads players to say it is tough for a slot player to win in Pennsylvania. It really is tougher than in many other states because the average return to the player (RTP) is only 88-90 percent.
According to the regulations of the PGCB, a Pennsylvania casino would be in compliance with a slot payout of only 85 percent. The average payouts (for all slot machines combined) are better than the minimum at all of the Pennsylvania casinos, but not a whole lot better.
You might improve your chances somewhat by avoiding penny slot machines and playing a higher denomination machine with a better RTP. Also, keep your sessions short. If you are winning, make sure you leave a winner before you give the machine a chance to take back all of your winnings and more. If you are losing, set a limit on your losses and settle for coming back another time when maybe your luck will be better.
Video poker
Video poker players can also choose from many popular varieties. In addition, as an example of the growing trend to offer gaming and non-gaming amenities in the same setting, the Sunburst Bar in the center of the casino offers 33 multi-game video poker machines.
Table games
Mohegan Sun Pocono is home to more than 90 table games, so expect to find not only all of the most frequently played games and different variations of them, but other games that are brand new to you. Your many options include the following:
Blackjack
Roulette
Mini-baccarat
Mississippi stud
Pai gow
Pai gow tiles
Let It Ride
Three card poker
Spanish 21
Big Six
As with slots and video poker, table games players can choose from a wide range of bet sizes. Whatever game you select, be sure to familiarize yourself with the rules and correct playing strategy beforehand.
It is best to avoid American roulette. The combination of both a single and double zero on the wheel raises the house edge to 5.26 percent. You are better off playing single zero only European roulette with a house edge Current sidebar:of 2.70 percent.
Blackjack
Some additional comments are worth noting about blackjack due to its great popularity. For starters, this is a casino that appears to be making an effort to accommodate as many people as possible who want to play this game. Special handicap-accessible blackjack tables are available. Furthermore, low stakes players will be pleased to know that $5 blackjack tables are now being offered 24/7.
Blackjack is a game in which the likelihood of winning depends not just on luck, but on a combination of both luck and the player’s skill. Knowing and applying the correct basic strategy can go a long way towards keeping the house edge on this game to a minimum.
That said, depending on where the game is being played, and sometimes even at different tables in the same casino, the rules can vary considerably, and these rule differences can also make a particular game either easier or harder to beat. Pennsylvania players are fortunate because the rules for blackjack in Pennsylvania casinos, as set by the PGCB, are among the most liberal in the country. Regardless of whether you play at Mohegan Sun Pocono or any other Pennsylvania casino, the blackjack game you will be offered will have these basic rules:
Blackjack pays 3:2
Dealer stands on soft 17
Doubling down permitted on any two cards
Doubling down after splits
Splits up to three hands (except aces)
Late surrender
This game, when played according to correct basic strategy, has a house edge of only about .40 percent. However, different casinos may add one or more optional proposition bets with a higher house edge. Mohegan Sun Pocono offers a bet at their blackjack tables called Blazing 7s, featuring a progressive jackpot.
Blazing 7s Blackjack
Regardless of the amount of the original bet, a bet on Blazing 7s is always for $5. In order to win this bet, at least one of the first three cards dealt to you must be a seven. However, the more sevens you have in your hand, the more you win. Two sevens pay more than one and three, even more than two. The highest payouts occur when the three sevens are colored or suited. If your hand is comprised of three sevens that are all the same color, but different suits, you win 10 percent of the jackpot. However, if the three sevens are suited (three identical cards), you win the entire jackpot.
If you take a third card and go over 21, you bust and lose your regular bet, but the outcome of your Blazing 7s bet is not affected. Therefore, if either or both of your first two cards is a seven, the correct strategy for Blazing 7s is never to stand on your two card total, even if the play is contrary to basic strategy. Always hit or double. With a pair of sevens, hit or split, hoping that your third card will also be a seven. The Blazing 7 payouts are as follows:
Three suited sevens earn 100 percent of jackpot
Three colored sevens 10 percent of jackpot
Any three sevens pays 200 for 1
Two sevens pays 25 for 1
One seven pays 2 for 1
Fusion hybrid games
Mohegan Sun Pocono also offers this alternative way of playing. A single player terminal connects the player at the same time with up to four live table games. There are four colored tabs on the touchscreen, letting you switch back and forth.
A player can wager on up to four games at a time with just the touch of a finger. Having more chances to win adds to the excitement.
Poker
Mohegan Sun Pocono has a separate 18-table poker room, which unlike the rest of the casino, is completely nonsmoking. Amenities include several flat screen TVs and a bar. The cash games include the same varieties that are usually found in today’s poker rooms: Limit and no-limit Texas hold ‘em, Omaha and Omaha hi-lo, and stud. There are a variety of stakes to choose from as well.
Adding to the action and excitement, there are frequently scheduled multi-table and Sit-N-Go tournaments, and a high hand jackpot is paid out three times a day as well. The qualifying time periods for the jackpot are 10 a.m.-4 p.m., 4 p.m.-10 p.m., and 10 p.m.-10 a.m. The player with the best hand during each time period wins the jackpot.
There are two regularly scheduled no-limit hold ‘em tournaments daily, in either a traditional or bounty format, with the first starting at 11 a.m. or noon and the second starting at 7 p.m. The buy-in ranges from $30 to $230.
Sit-N-Go tournaments (SNGs) also run daily, subject to table availability and interest. Buy-ins range from $60 to $250.
From October through December, during the Sunday, Monday, and Thursday night NFL games, the poker room offers a special Pro Football Splash Pot promotion. Every time a team scores a field goal, touchdown, or safety, a lucky table is selected to have $50, $100, or $150, respectively splashed into the pot. If the Philadelphia Eagles or Pittsburgh Steelers are playing, the amount splashed into the pot is doubled.
Racing
The Downs at Mohegan Sun Pocono offers evening live harness racing from mid-March through November. During the month of March, Tuesdays and Saturdays are the only racing days. However, from April through November, live racing takes place most Sundays and Mondays as well as on Tuesdays and Saturdays. Moreover, there is also dailywagering on simulcast races at other tracks. Parking and admission are both free.
Momentum Rewards program
Players who do not already have a Momentum card should pick one up the next time they are in the casino. Membership is completely free and allows you to be rewarded for all of your play, not only at Mohegan Sun Pocono, but at the Mohegan Sun Casino in Connecticut as well. Every time you play using your card, you earn both Momentum Dollars and Status Points. Momentum Dollars can be used to spend on the amenities of your choice at the Mohegan Sun Pocono or, if you prefer, at the Mohegan Sun in Connecticut or the newest casino partner of Mohegan Sun, Resorts Casino Hotel in Atlantic City.

Summary
Out of all the casinos in Pennsylvania, Mohegan Sun Pocono is one of the standouts. It should be clear from this review that Mohegan Sun is the complete package, not only offering a large and diverse selection of games appealing to different types of gamblers, but also many other things that can add to a visitor’s enjoyment. Mohegan Sun Pocono is one of the few Pennsylvania gambling facilities that offer a casino, racetrack, and first-rate hotel with varied non-gambling amenities.
Many comments on sites like TripAdvisorand Yelp give both the hotel and the casino a five-star rating, describing the place as a “beautiful hotel,” with spacious rooms, “very helpful staff,” easy to get to, and with a nice casino, good entertainment, and plenty of food options. Additionally, visitors find the facility to be very clean and not overly crowded on weekdays. They find that having a racetrack adjoining the casino adds to the fun.
Of course, like any other casino, Mohegan Sun isn’t perfect. One complaint that comes up repeatedly is that the slots are too tight. Players say that it is nearly impossible to win on the slots. Slot players also don’t like having to pay for drinks, and the consensus of slot and table game players alike is that the beverage service could be faster. Another complaint of many players is that they feel the casino is being too tight with comps.
Despite the noted areas where there is clearly need for improvement, the overall consensus is that Mohegan Sun Pocono is a fun place to visit, gamble, enjoy good food, and be entertained and that it is worth the trip.

Shadow of Night Read Along: Chapter 5
Although the meeting with Widow Beaton ended in a disaster, the members of the School of Night still agree that they need a witch to teach Diana. However, before they could really get started in their search, unexpected visitors arrive at the Old Lodge: Gallowglass, Matthew’s nephew, and Davy Hancock, another vampire who is, most of the times, loyal to the de Clermonts; both of them are knights of Lazarus. They were with Matthew in Chester when he disappeared—apparently time won’t allow duplicates of a person to exist in the same timeline, so when the modern Matthew arrived in 1590, the past Matthew disappeared. Gallowglass and Davy conclude that Matthew disappeared because of Diana, who is not only a witch, but Matthew’s wife and mate. Hancock is mostly incredulous and irritated by this, while Gallowglass takes it mostly in a stride (and in good humor), and instantly takes on calling Diana “Auntie.” Hancock also lets it drop that Matthew is a member of the Congregation, which utterly shocks Diana. However, they have no time dwell on this, as the two vampires inform them that the locals are coming to apprehend Diana for witchcraft. Soon the shoemaker Bidwell (the older), the glovemaker Iffley, and the local reverend, Danforth arrive—the latter with a worn copy of the Malleus Maleficarum. They try to accuse Diana of having cursed Widow Beaton and Bidwell’s son (and maybe bewitching Matthew as well), but Matthew, albeit with his temper flaring, gets rid of them pretty easily. However, their visit is still troubling, because even though they are nobodies, they could get the attention of some people who do matter, and who could cause trouble—because Matthew is a spy.
Notes
I love how the whole book deals with William Shakespeare. We have this modern idea of him being this high and mighty figure (I mean, sure, if you have a little deeper knowledge of him and his work, you’ll know that he wasn’t that high and mighty), the best of the best, the #1 playwright ever, and then these guys just come and go… Yeah, Will. He’s a crook. He steals his ideas and forges signatures to get by. We don’t really like him. (BTW, if you are amused by this depiction, I wholeheartedly recommend Upstart Crow.)
Even Diana, a human, describes Matthew’s smell as clove and cinnamon. So it absolutely makes sense that when Davy, a vampire, describes it, he says that Matthew smells like “a grocer’s shop the day fresh spices arrive from the docks.” I wonder if it’s pleasant or distracting/too much for a vampire?
This reminds me: a Hungarian café franchise (cheaper than Starbucks, but more sophisticated, focusing on serving coffee specialties from all over the world, buying the beans directly from the farmers) has a latte with clove, cinnamon, and ginger from Zanzibar. I tried it specifically because of the clove and the cinnamon reminded me of Matthew’s description. It’s absolutely delish.
So as a member of the Congregation, Matthew has enough power to “keep Kit from the noose.” That makes me wonder if world leaders know of the Congregation? In the 16th century, yeah, I’m pretty sure, but what about today?
Gallowglass and Hancock would make a good comedic duo.
I love how Gallowglass instantly treats Diana. Yeah, she’s a witch, and yeah, she’s trouble, but she’s family, and she has guts, so I like Auntie.”
Also, the way Gallowglass and Davy speak of Matthew makes us feel not as if he was the most fearsome one in the family (I mean, he is the family assassin), but as if he was the eccentric one. Oh, here’s Matthew. He’s a good guy. Smart, ruthless. He also does crazy stuff sometimes, but, like, we’re used to that. And I mean, they’re not wrong.
Honestly, Gallowglass has the best lines in this chapter.
Matthew is a “surprisingly good actor.” Diana studied to be an actress for a while. What could these two do if they put their minds to it? (Yeah, I know. Prague.)
Theoretically, touching a vampire’s mate without permission is a no-no. Yet Gallowglass keeps touching Diana (first he help her to sit, then he put his hands on her shoulders to keep her upright). Of course he’d know that they’re not “properly” mated, since Phillippe knew too, but still—is it an act of defiance, a simple concern for Diana (like the kind he’ll keep showing), or something else?
Favorite quotes
“Trouble always travels in the company of women.” “Trouble is no fool. Given the choice, I’d rather travel with a woman than with you.”
“And His Holiness proclaimed the age of miracles had passed,” Hancock crowed. “Matthew de Clermont is mated at last. But no ordinary, placid human or properly schooled female wearh who knows her place would do. Not for our Matthew. Now that he’s decided at last to settle down with one woman, it had to be a witch. We have more to worry about than the good people of Woodstock, then.”
“[…] Are you still dizzy? Do you need to lie down?” “Curious. I’m curious,” I said, hands clenched. “Don’t worry about my magic or my health. Worry about how many hours it’s going to take to answer my questions after the minister is gone. And if you try to wiggle out of them with the excuse that ‘it’s not my tale to tell,’ I’ll flatten you.” “You are perfectly fine, then.” Matthew’s mouth twitched. He dropped a kiss on my forehead. “I love you, ma lionne.”

Hustler’s Cup Is Coming to Los Angeles
Coffee educator and entrepreneur LaNisa Williams is bringing specialty coffee to her L.A. community.
BY MARK VAN STREEFKERK BARISTA MAGAZINE ONLINE
Photos courtesy of LaNisa Williams
Coffee educator and entrepreneur LaNisa Williams lights up when talking about her first “wow moment” with coffee. It happened in 2013 when she was hired at Peet’s Coffee in Los Angeles after a few years of working at Starbucks. Until then, coffee was just a way to pay the bills for the L.A. native, but Peet’s offered coffee training that inspired her to learn more. “Someone made me a Chemex with an Ethiopian super-natural, and when I first opened the bag, I immediately smelled blueberries and I was like ‘What?’ I was looking on the bag to see if it had small print like artificial flavoring. Literally, I was looking for it,” LaNisa remembers. “I never knew all those steps that go into making coffee with a Chemex. Then I tasted it and it literally tasted like blueberry. It was then I felt like, ‘Oh my goodness, this is what I can do.’”
“I want to have my own café. I it to be in my community where I grew up. I know what’s going on over there, and bring coffee education to an area that I feel hasn’t been touched,” LaNisa says.
From that moment, LaNisa was determined to learn all she could about coffee. Starting at Peet’s as a barista, she quickly moved up the ranks to shift lead, assistant manager, and then district trainer. Her trajectory came with a small hiccup, however: “I got into some trouble with the law.”
LaNisa explained the situation to her manager at Peet’s, and asked if she could get her job back after serving time. The manager couldn’t promise anything, but when LaNisa came back home after a year, she was rehired. “ gave me my job back. She gave me a second chance. People don’t usually give people second chances with the background I have. That was my turning point. Someone believed in you this much. … They valued you for who you were. That for me means more than making all the money. I just wanted someone to value me for what I brought to the table,” she says.
LaNisa continued to excel at Peet’s, but eventually her opportunities for advancement grew limited. She noticed “they started to kind of deny me the information that I wanted to get to the next level,” and instead of her getting a promised promotion, another person was transferred in to fill the same position—twice.
“We are looking for a November grand opening for Hustler’s Cup. It will mark five years of me being out of prison and changing my life. That’s what the goal is, but you know how stuff is. The plumbing might not work that day, you never know,” LaNisa says.
She left Peet’s and officially launched Barista Life LA in March of 2019. The company offers barista training and home-brewing classes to individuals and companies, as well as hosts private events. Barista Life LA is a coffee education service where “everybody and anybody is welcome, no information is gonna be denied.”
Even COVID-19 has led to pivots that resulted in greater opportunities. For example, LaNisa has booked more private home-brewing classes via Zoom. She has also used her platform to network with and highlight other Black coffee professionals using the #BlackinBrew hashtag.
#BlackinBrew is an ongoing spotlight at @baristalifela on Instagram that celebrates Black excellence in the coffee community. Past posts have featured Quiana DeBerry of On The Go Jo, Daniel Brown of Gilly Brew Bar, and Ciera Young of Mama’s Brew Coffee. The hashtag was started in part because LaNisa knows visibility and representation matter—two things she didn’t see much of in her early career. “I would be , ‘Why am I always the only Black person at the coffee shop?’” she says. That started to change when she attended the U.S. Coffee Champs in Orange County, Calif., earlier this year and met more Black coffee professionals. “I just wanted to shine light on the work that we put in,” she says about the hashtag. “I just want to make sure people know that we exist, there are Black people in coffee. We rock. We bring just as much energy as any other race.”
#BlackinBrew has had an incredible reach, something LaNisa didn’t anticipate until baristas from Africa messaged her with questions after seeing the hashtag. “They heard about BlackinBrew. It’s crazy. I really didn’t think I was going to get that much of a response,” she says.
The success of Barista Life LA is just the start. LaNisa plans to open her own café, Hustler’s Cup, just off of Slauson and 6th Ave. in the community where she grew up. The location has extra significance because it’s close to The Marathon Clothing store on Slauson Ave. and Crenshaw Blvd., founded by rapper, community organizer, and local legend Nipsey Hussle, who died in a shooting last year. “I’m five blocks from Nipsey square where all of Nipsey’s stuff is,” LaNisa says. “We came up with the name and the building … actually has his mural right on the front of it. I just felt like this was a sign.”
LaNisa Williams standing in front of the Nipsey Hussle mural on the building where she plans to open Hustler’s Cup.
Running a coffee training business and planning the grand opening of a café keeps LaNisa busy, but she’s not stopping there. She has ideas in the works for a Barista Life LA + Hustler’s Cup joint venture, including debuting their own coffee line, a coffee cookbook, and a universal barista training manual.
“I want to be busy. I want to be able to bring all these ideas and visions to life,” LaNisa says. “I didn’t get that opportunity as a kid. I was denied a lot of stuff, but I have the opportunity now and I want to make the best of it. You only live once, and I’m trying to go all-out.”
