I’m In Love With the Villainess/「私の推しは悪役令嬢」
(Literal translation: My Oshi is the Villainess.)
🌸 8/10 🌸
Tumblr media
Ordinary office worker Rei Oohashi wakes up one day to find herself as Rae Taylor, the heroine of her favorite otome game, Revolution. Surrounded by attractive men all vying for her attention would be any maiden's dream—but that is not the case for Rae! None of them can hold a candle to the villainess, Claire François, whose blonde, drill-shaped ringlets only accentuate her haughty irresistible charm. In the original story, Claire harasses and bullies the heroine, which drives the latter closer to the male love interests. But Rae has no intention of pursuing any of the men; her heart is set on Claire herself! Unused to being on the receiving end of affection, Claire is left at the mercy of Rae's endless teasing. With the power of true love, can Rae successfully convey her heartfelt feelings to the villainess?
(MAL Rewrite)
If I were held at gunpoint to assemble a crate of my most outstanding, bountifully nutritious crops of yuri harvested throughout my many years ploughing fields and milling earth as a humble yuri farmer this would definitely be in there. ‘Watashi no Oshi wa Akuyaku Reijou’ stands out to me as one of the funnest yuris to read. The main beef of the manga falls within the jurisdiction of the characters themselves and their world rather than a greater metacommentary, which allows you to just veg out a little and not feel like your about to explode your brain matter all over your screen. BUT it also does a very good job investing you into the plot so you can still sink into it and immerse yourself. The gimmick of Isekai and a simple but underexplored concept makes the world and storyline easy to comprehend and flows very well throughout the entire manga. I don’t want to spoil too much, nor do I feel it vitally important to discuss anything specifically about themes and characters so I won’t elaborate too much.
TL;DR: really really really really really solid

local library book sale section haul
i don't check the book sale section of my library very often, but I was there yesterday and found some really great finds for really cheap :)
Tumblr media
more info + rambles under cut!
top row:
- Call The Name of The Night
(never heard of it, but it sounds interesting. $1 is such a small amount of money that it's worth taking the risk in not liking it. i can just give my best friend whatever i don't like in hopes that she might enjoy it <3)
- I'm in LOVE with the VILLAINESS
(best friend loves this one. i want to also love this one. i think she would be happier if i didn’t like it so she gets to keep it)
- Little Witch Academia
(read a few volumes of this (that i checked out from the same library lol) when i was young. it's really good iirc. i lack the motivation to finish most series but i wish i really could've w this one)
- Bloom into You
(cute yuri!! never read but i'm looking forward to it :) )
bottom row:
- Wotakoi: Love Is Hard For Otaku
(actually read this exact volume while visiting another library in the city not too long ago. really good imo. a cute and fun read, gotta place the others on hold)
- Land of the Lustrous
(i've heard of it, but i actually don't know much other than the description at the back and that cosplayers love this one. again, $1 is such a small loss that it's nbd if i don't like it.)
- citrus
(pirated the whole thing as a kid. stole my older brother's ps vita and wouldn't give it back because this was my wallpaper. this is the most controversial choice, but i'd like to see the rest of y’all NOT buy a childhood fave for $1. i think i'm in the right here. cute series, would be perfect if they weren't stepsisters, but that's literally the core plot so. y'know. it's regular good.)
all first volumes, and all for $1 (CAD)!! total value of the haul is $7. significantly cheaper than buying the random manga that people donate to the thrift store, except w way better selection (not counting the trashy thrift store yaoi because i've only seen that twice in 5 years.) AND with the knowledge that you've supported your library a little :) definitely would recommend checking this section out once in a while for anyone that buys books.

So it wasn’t until the flash forward at the end of the season finale of I’m In Love with the Villainess that I remembered that the title of the game Rae got Isekai’ed into is called… Revolution.

Kind of related to my prev post but-
You know, I was so happy when the anime adaptation of I'm in love with the villaness came out. I had read the novel and the manga and was in love with the work of inori-sensei.
And I'm more than satisfied by the anime. The generic (I don't know how many time I listened to Raise Y/our Hands! Lol), the art and animation ...
and finally the voice acting.the japanese and English one are amazing. The voice well chosed, the emotion and tone, etc. See, when Rei said "step on me harder"(don't remember the exact phrase) I felt that was genuine, in bot language.
So when I saw that they did a french dub to I rushed as fast as I could. I expected something as the same level as the other dub.
But I was disappointed. Like bro just took the most generic, overused in animated shows voices, and they didn't even tried to put a emotion to it (exaggerating but you see my point). Bro didn't even translated that ace attorney reference right T^T.
I could ramble for hours about than but gonna stop here. Too much posting for me.
