You'd think the hardest thing to draw sprites for in this game is the torsos-

After all, like, it's the most content, right? The characters have a lotta torso and you gotta draw over it for the armor and such- Not so! The torso's spritesheets are actually quite simple, as there are only 5 or so states the torso could be in- Idle, walking, swimming, jumping/falling, and crouched.

It's the fucking ARMS that are hard to sprite- Because they have 35 individual frames that are used for their animation.

and THAT can get tiresome, to stare at hands you've already drawn for a species and keep drawing the same thing but at slightly different angles-

It's all good for the smoothness of the animations, but from an artist's perspective it can feel a little monotonous-

You know, I was thinking about an idea I had then realized just how angsty it would be on one side and how much fluff it would be on the other and I'm curious about other people's ideas too ngl

So like, I was toying around with the idea of Shanon coming back to Gardenview and snatching up the loser lesbians and bringing them home with her to save from... Whatever happened. Shanon has no idea, she was never allowed to know, so she just has two VERY traumatized toons now. She'll know how to keep Shelly entertained and happy, she was ALWAYS with Shelly, but I highly doubt she'd know how to keep Vee in check at all.

Vee would probably quickly spiral into a mental crisis about it too, as now everything has been destroyed in her eyes. Nobody remembers her gameshows because they ended years ago, nobody remembers her because Gardenview closed years ago, nobody's interested in learning about her as she's outdated technology to them now. She'd be alone, only able to quiz Shelly now, but she's heard all her questions and knows all the answers by now. She'd probably start self isolating because she just doesn't know what to do with herself, lashing out at Shanon because she genuinely doesn't understand why people aren't fans of her anymore and wants to blame someone except herself. She would be such a wreck and probably have major beef with any new technology Shanon brings home because it replaced her in her mind. Vee is now just... Vee. She's not a celebrity any more, she's not loved by anyone except the toon handler who took her in and her now popular dinosaur girlfriend, and she would not have a clue what to do about it.

Shelly would most likely have the opposite problem, she looks like a living toon just wandering around like she's a common sight to see - of course people would notice! Kids would ask her about fossils and she'd happily tell them all about what she is and their minds would be blown by how much she knows, she'd probably be asked to play by kids who think she looks really neat and be dragged to the sandbox to 'fossil hunt' whenever Shanon takes them to the park. Shanon very much would hide plastic fossils in there too just to see Shelly smile, like she used to before her museum shut down. She'd be such an interesting sight to see that she'd get stared at, often asked what she actually is, and probably would be the talk of the town for a while. Eventually everyone would know that Shelly is just there to have fun, don't bother her too much, but at first everyone would be so shocked by a living breathing toon they'd swarm the poor thing! I'm sure Shelly would be just a little irritated by the constant unwarranted attention and stares, but so happy she's no longer forgotten.

Their roles would reverse is what I'm getting at here. It gives so much Vee angst to work with and Shelly comfort... I am brainrotting over this idea if that's not obvious

Okay so this might get long and you absolutely don’t have to read this bc it really might get long and kekdk but yeah my lore theory is that everything is in Tyler’s head. A mechanism to cope with his trauma. And it all began with ode to sleep. Its the beginning and construction of Dema due to bad insomnia and mental breakdowns. In this song he also several times talks about demons telling that he will be gone.

Dema itself as we know it starts with the blurryface album with Heavydirtysoul. We see Tyler in a car (a symbol of his mind) driven by blurryface on the way to Dema. So Tylers fears and insecurities drive his mind to the depressing state that Dema is. The car, his mind, breaks down and catches fire. Tyler begs for someone to save his soul. Maybe he is wishing death yet he also fears it like the line "death inspires me like a dog inspires a rabbit" indicates. So he tries to flee yet his mind can't take it anymore the car completely burns but then Tyler suddenly sits in the car again as if nothing happened. He can't escape the trauma and he has to go trough it no matter what. His mind forces him to cope and his insecurities (Blurryface) tries to drive him to Dema again and again yet Tyler's unconscious refuses to give up and Tyler burns out.

After HDS we get songs were Blurryface appears. My theory is that Blurryface is Tyler's defense mechanism, yet a negative one. Blurryface talks anything Tyler does bad. And if Tyler believes it no one can hurt him with words or acts because he already knows what he did is bad. So its a defense in a sense. An example for this theory would be Fairly local.

Immediately after the HDS Jumpsuit sets place. Tyler suddenly wakes up in Trench. This is the song were we first encounter the Banditos and the Torchbearer as well as Nico. Trench is outside of Dema. You should not walk alone trough Dema since it changes reality. As I also said in the HDS theory, Tyler's subconsciousness tries to fight. This is why Torchbearer and the Banditos appear. Tyler's mind knows he is ready to fight against his Trauma again. I say again because I believe the Banditos are former cycles of Clancy who is not Tyler yet, but a mere part of him who lost against the trauma (a fall back in the process to heal from his trauma). So Tyler does also not know anything about Torchie or the Banditos, or Nico and the niners, or trench. He knows nothing but Blurryface. He is lost. He is also at first seemingly scared of the Banditos but also Nico since he doesnt know anything of them. He runs away, he tries to flee from Nico, the Banditos try to help him, Nico still manages to capture him and take him to Dema. A minor fall back in the process of healing and overcoming his Trauma.

But this is not the end of this cycle. Tyler finds letters and yellow petals in his room in Dema. Very likely from Clancy his previous cycle who managed to collect informations. Letter_Clancy was under bishop of Keons but Tyler is under Nico. Letter_Clancy lived nine years in Dema. But Tyler newly arrived with no knowledge. Yet trough the letters he learns how to escape and possibly defeat the bishops. East is up. Torchie and the Banditos help him escape. Trough the letters he also have gained memory (see the handshake and familarity btw Tyler and Torchie)

Morph is were we learn about Nico Bourbaki. Irl Nico Bourbaki did not exist. It was a group of mathematicians and one of these groups faked his ID into Nico Bourbaki. This is why I believe that Blurryface is all of the Bishops together as the album cover also indicates, and Nico is the cheap copy of the big thing that Blurryface actually is, yet Nico also is Tyler's biggest fear.

But basically Letter_Clancy is a former cycle like the Banditos, and Tyler takes on the name Clancy as a form of Rebellion. Torchie is his belived friend and his huiding light who always appears when Clancy needs him most. Blurryface is Tyler's insecurities, his defensemechanism and therefore the dog of HDS. Nico is part of Blurryface yet also Tylers biggest traums, therefore death of HDS. Clancy himself has to to battle everything and is afraid of Nico, therefore he is the rabbit of HDS.

After Paladin strait it is very likely that Clancy absorbed Nico, triggering Blurryface to come up and making Clancy forgetting everything, a nee cycle sort of begins and Blurryface album restarts but Clancy is still there he is not completely gone, he is deep inside but all he hears are Nico‘s and Blurryface voices. So we get Dark‘!Clancy who unawarely becomes a tyrann. The Banditos all think they defeated the bishops, and fail to notice that smth is wrong with Tyler. Torchie does notice, yet his words do not reach Clancy.

But he very likely will find a way to help his friend❤️💛❤️💛

i'm watching young justice for the first time ever and jason showed up and i had to pause every 3 seconds to breath bc i got overwhelmed (why isn't anyone ever just 'whelmed' lol) and my heart started racing bc he and dick were fighting each other but neither knew who the other was AND THEN after ra's al ghul calls nightwing 'grayson' fucking talia shows up carrying baby damian and HE'S SO SMALL AND THEN JASON PULLS DOWN HIS HOOD AND SAYS "Gray... son..." AND I THREW MY PHONE ACROSS THE FUCKING ROOM!!!!!!!

obviously, clive resembles luke, which is why he was able to pretend to be his older self... but golly, the parallels are crazy...

i recall layton saying that the explosion happened before luke was even born, and that it was 10 years before the present, and here you have clive pretending to be luke 10 years after the present, making clive almost directly "future luke". and clive, given how much he looks like luke now, must've looked even more like luke when he was a child, when he'd been clutching onto layton in the streets looking for his parents - and given that 10-year divergence, clive must've been around 10 at the time, the same age as luke when layton met him. and i forget the details of the last specter (when layton met luke), but wasn't luke's father missing for part of that game, similar to clive's parents? (i don't remember what's up with his mother lol.) it's like deja vu... same age, same face, same outfit, same problem... two little boys in blue missing their parents... clive was adopted by the kindly constance dove, who became his mother, only for time to separate them - while luke has been under the care of the kindly hershel layton, who effectively serves as his father, and time is going to separate them too...

and as it is, despite neither dimitri nor clive truly being the future layton or luke respectively, dimitri at the very least represents a dark path layton could've gone down: out of grief over claire, he could've gone to extreme, terrible lengths. so what of luke? is clive his dark path? perhaps, though i don't know (and/or remember) enough about luke's backstory to say how...
