am curious. how would irelia feel about knowing kayn is born noxian?
or in other words, what's her opinion about nature vs nurture.

Tumblr media
GOOD QUESTION, IT LIVES IN MY HEAD RENT FREE THANKS FOR GIVING ME AN EXCUSE TO SHARE MY THOUGHTS ILY REY
so. irelia's feelings about noxus and noxians are very simple, of course — they deserve to die. i've spoken before about the dehumanization of the enemy and how it was also a coping mechanism to her, but when it comes to long-term effects, it definitely impacted her ability (and willingness, perhaps more importantly) to show them any sympathy. they're not people. she's content to look at them as barely human, in a way. of course it's not that easy, but she had no reason to challenge that notion so far (except, perhaps, during the sentinels event with riven but... bleh i don't like how anything about irelia and being a sentinel was handled).
which is an overly rambly prologue to get to the real question. how would she feel about learning kayn is noxian? i think there's no ultimate answer for that, because to a point it depends on her relationship with kayn. were she to see him as an enemy, wouldn't it be simple to blame how awful he is on his noxian birth? but i personally don't think an enemy is ever what she sees in him; she doesn't look down on the yanlei as much as many other ionians, because she is well aware their origin as an order and her own path aren't that unlike. they chose to fight. they did things considered extreme. so did she — even if not to the same extent, and even if there are things she disagrees with them greatly, such as the matter of wild magic.
in game, her interaction with kayn is the same as for other 'ionian villains' (zed, syndra and jhin iirc). she wants to believe there's good in him, as she wants to believe there's good in any of the others. would she still be as hopeful if she knew he was noxian? honestly, without a personal connection, maybe not. but i'm inclined to say regardless of having any sort of relationship with him, knowing he's noxian by birth wouldn't ultimately result on her regarding him as a lost cause. because despite everything, kayn is ionian in every way that matters. he was raised as ionian for a good portion of his life, he fights for ionia too. he hates noxians as much as she does. how can she possibly just throw him along the rest of them?
so, yes, i think despite her views on noxus as a whole, she wouldn't think he's fated to be just like the other noxians because he's noxian by birth. of course, that might force her to question some of her other stances towards noxians, who she'd have dismissed as all being the same (because if he is not, others may be different too — and he wasn't even raised as ionian from early infancy, so when does one draw the line? when do they become irredeemable?). it's something else to consider whether or not she'd want to make that distinction for other cases. personally i think she'd be content to just make him an exception (because that's easy, and comfortable, and she would have seen him as ionian well before she saw him as noxian; it's easier to ignore the other implications), rather than truly let that change her outlook on things more broadly.
i think the moment she learned about it, it'd be a shock (because, like i said, her view of noxians is really black and white; they're evil, they're monstrous, they deserve to die). immediately, there's no way it wouldn't have an impact because i don't think irelia would know how to feel about it (but the extent of that impact depends on how much she cares about him, too; like with cyn's kayn, where there is a relationship, then she obviously cares more, and in turn it is more of a shock to learn that he was born noxian than in a situation like canon, where they haven't really interacted). still, i don't think the confusion would manifest as aggression or rejection, and that it'd be pretty short-lived (both in the sense of an immediate reaction and in any lingering, posterior doubt). kayn may have been born noxian, and he may have spent the first years of his life a noxian, but he has long since left that behind. zed took him in and kayn embraced his new life, a life he leads as an ionian. if she accepted him as that before, knowing he was born noxian wouldn't change she accepts him as that still. knowing he was born in noxus doesn't change what he is or what he does now.

Do y'all ever think about how it's possible that Zeus' first verse in Thunder Bringer is about Penelope and his second is about Odysseus?
She's a "Damsel in Distress" (She's cool af, she just needs some help and misses her idiot), the suitors are prideful and hope to do what Zeus is singing about to her. Pressuring her to choose. Her "true nature" is revealed when her trickery with the shroud is found out .
The 2nd Verse about how Zeus is also the God of Justice and punishing them for the crew's crime of slaying the cattle. Odysseus saves himself to see Penelope again, meaning his crew/people will die. They died for touching Helios' cattle. Odysseus also saves himself AND Helps Penelope by killing all the suitors for their crime of flirting with/bothering Penelope and making her cry, while also bullying and eventually planning to kill his son. Many of Ithaca's men are killed for their pride too. Thinking that they're worthy of Penelope when Nobody is. Flirt with the Wife, you get the knife.
Penelope and Odysseus DO take each others' suffering away when they reunite as well. 🥹

Hold up, I need to rant about this because I'm upset with how some of you are attacking My Adventures with Superman's Lois for what happened in episode 5.
Thing is, Clark's desire to keep his secret is valid, but so is Lois's frustration. She was worried about Clark, and she only turned to anger when he didn't let her express her worries and treated her like she was stupid when it was more than obvious that she already knew what was going on.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Again, Clark is allowed to want to keep his identity a secret, but a lot of people are using that as an excuse to call Lois unreasonable and a bitch, when her reaction was nothing but human.
You all loved her because she was adventurous, a rebel, strong-willed, and inquisitive, but now you hate her because she dared point those feeling towards Clark and then got angry with him? Mmh, interesting.
Oh, wow, what a surprise, Lois isn't perfect! Oh, wow, how dare she feel anything but smitten with Clark? What a monster.
You all love your female characters until they show themselves imperfect, or they disagree with the male lead character (regardless of if they're right or wrong). It's a known fact that misogyny is more than present in the comic world and its fandom, but some of you don't even try to hide it. Look me in the eye and tell me they would attack a male character the way they're attacking Lois if he had had the same reaction? Come on.

Hunter what the FUCK-
.
#love this because it's the following reaction to the last ask#this is funny considering 72.7% of 44 people who interacted with the poll considered Hunter worthy of forgiveness. which is around 31 votes#tbf forgiving is one thing but moving on is very different#someone commented on the post saying they would forgive Hunter but would struggle to continue friends/acquaintances with him#and honestly? that's absolutely fair. but yeah you can guess Bee's reaction to the truth wasn't the best one#Hunter is used to her explosive reactions so he kinda expected her to lash out#but worse than that he was met with an utter and deadly silence. B2 never made it clear whether or not she forgave him#on one side all those years of hardwork and friendship sounded like a lie and she struggled to process the weight of it all#on the other side she wasn't the only person affected by his past actions and that infuriated her even more.#a whole civilization was nearly annihilated by Bee's kind - all because Gideon decided to send 'em off to war#the same civilization he's infiltrated under the disguise of a 'rebellious android'#the same civilization they spent years trying to rescue and save. the same civilization she considered family. the closest thing to home#------ now to a more inconsistent and unexplored side of this story...#There's a Certain Event that takes place after this and is very heartbreaking. however I'm not entirely sure if Hunter's told the truth-#-before or after the final conflicts of the story were over#i like to think he waited until the very end to talk to Bee. presuming it was safe enough to do so#It's likely Bee was so hurt and angry that she promised to go back to her Real Home (to her orbit as a comet) and never look back#and that's when- oh boy i talked too much in the tags again!#oh gee! so sorry for rambling#i'll stop here :]#the continuation to this can be found in an illustration i'm working on!! stay tuned!!!!#ok byeee#inbox#fusionsprunt

For the micro story ask, how about number 7 (silent fury) for Pete? With your choice of other character/s <3
Ohhh, that's a good one, my friend, thank you so much ❤️ ----------------------- "Hey, P'Pete." "Hm?" "You used to do boxing, right?" "Ah... yes, why?" "What was your nickname?" "My... what?" "The name you'd been given as a fighter. Like how P'Porsche was called The Phoenix." "Well-" "Silent Fury." "Bro, you're not funny." "What? It suits him, doesn't it?" "It sounds stupid and you know it." "It does sound a little stupid, Vegas." "I only meant to emphasize your strengths, Pete." "You did a bad job." "Shut up, Macau." "Phi never answered the question. What was it?" "I... didn't have one." "You didn't? But why?" "No point for a fighter who's bad at his job." "Pete-" "No, I refuse to accept it. We're giving you one right now... Don't laugh, Phi, I'm being serious!" "Fine, Macau. Do whatever you want. But it can't be Silent Fury." "It suits you-" "Hia won't participate in the brainstorming. Only me and P'Pete." "Okay, that's it. No dinner for you." "Will I not get dinner either, Vegas?" "It depends, Pete. Are you going to behave?" "Ugh, never mind, I'm out of here. You started being gross again." "Food will be ready in an hour!" "You better have finished until then!" "No promises."

This makes me curious, would Irelia view noxians differently based on whether they were born in noxus, or willingly sided with the empire later in life? Is there even a distinction for her or are both just noxian scum in her eyes?
— @poisonflowrs
Tumblr media
that's ALSO a great question, thank you sm semi!!
i think it's fair to say that, in her eyes, they're all one and the same. she'd hate all of them equally. someone like samira, for example, born shuriman and noxian by choice, would be seen by irelia as just as much a noxian as someone like katarina, who is noxian by birth. in the end she'd want to kill both of them on sight.
in a way, though, i think she would be even more judgmental towards those who willingly sided with noxus. because despite her broadly negative views of noxians, i think the extent of it and why she sees things so black and white is also tied to the fact she didn't have to face some of the more difficult questions where that might become more of a dilemma. as an example, if she had to face children, like some ionians had to face child soldiers, would she consider them as inherently bad and deserving of death because they're noxian? I really don't think so. which is why i think deep down (even if she's not. really that interested in dealing with those feelings or seeing things less black and white) irelia knows it's not that they're born noxian that makes noxians what they are; and that might be in part why learning about kayn's origin wouldn't change how she views him.
still, someone born in noxus, raised in noxus, was subject to an environment that would end up making them as terrible as noxians always are, the way she sees it. but that just makes it worse that other people, who lived in other places and had different experiences, actively embrace noxus instead of shunning it. in a way i think she'd see those as particularly unforgivable. they might all be monsters, but someone from somewhere else needs to actively make that choice at some level, which is in her opinion even worse. like. you could just not be noxian and you chose to be??? disgusting
i don't think that greatly impacts how she would interact with them (they are all just noxian scum in the end). because honestly there's also the fact if you are with the empire at all, born there or not, you're choosing to side with noxus. and i don't think irelia cares why people do it, if it's out of pride or need or what they were raised for or whatever else. they're with noxus, knowing what noxus stands for. it's enough for her to hate them.

Taking a short hiatus
Hey y'all!!
For a while now I've been considering stepping back from posting/drawing to take some time for myself. For a while now I've been feeling drained and kinda unmotivated. I'm stuck in a rut and have been for the majority of 2024. I've been on and off with my motivation but found that I've been overall unhappy with my art.
I feel like my passion has been dwindling, and I know forcing myself to draw and post won't motivate me to continue doing what I love. Though I've had trouble stepping back due to the fact I've basically conditioned myself to draw and post as often as possible, which has done nothing but stress me out and make me feel like I'm failing when I can't muster the motivation to draw for even a single day.
So, after a lot of thinking, I've decided that I'm going to step back and take a (hopefully short) hiatus so that I can get myself out of this rut and rediscover my passion for art. I don't know how long this hiatus will last but I can guarantee it won't be super long.
This break is meant to be a time where I can stop worrying about posting often and/or consistently to instead focus on myself and what I want to do. Constantly stressing about posting has severely stunted my ability to grow and learn as an artist. While I have been improving, I've also been stuck in my 'comfort zone' which stresses me out severely. I feel like if I stay here any longer I'll only have more trouble in the long run. I feel like my rut will only worsen and I'll lose my passion for art completely. I need to step back and start drawing for myself again instead of worrying about what I think people will want to see from me.
Nowadays I feel like I'm too focused on pleasing others, hence why I'm hesitant to change in a way that might turn people away from what I do/draw and have been sticking to what got people interested in my art. I'm only human, so my tastes and interests are bound to change over time, and not everyone will like that. I feel like I'm too busy playing it safe instead of pushing myself to explore ideas that I've been wanting to try for years. I want to do my own thing again.
Tl;dr I will be taking a short hiatus to focus on myself and my art. So goodbye for now ✌️ I'll be back when I feel like I'm ready to return.

you know what? i'm gonna keep yapping!
Reki is often talked about online as being dramatic and a bad friend. he was fucking depressed! people who are depressed tend to self-isolate and just,,, (sometimes) don't make the bestest of friends no matter how HARD they try to. (speaking from experience here and that is NOT the case for everyone who has depression but esp in highschool? bruh)
imagine you're somewhere with your best friend and some other friends that you aren't around constantly and the ENTIRE time you're watching your friend do something that they are good at (that both of you do TOGETHER for FUN) you're standing there, listening to people you thought was the slightest bit your friend say that no one even knows you are outside of an extension of your other friend. that you aren't as good. that you "latched on to them"
16/17 year olds are fragile with self-esteem because it's such a BIG time in their lives. Reki sat there and listened to these things CONSTANTLY and because he got sad and pulled away, he's the bad friend?
FUCK that. Literally. if anyone was a bad friend it was Miya and Shadow for saying it, never apologizing, and then acting confused about why Reki stopped showing up instead of making jokes at Reki's expense. Langa wasn't the greatest friend (bc I'm pretty sure the kid didn't know how to be friends with anyone lmao) but the difference is, while Langa didn't know what was going on he made an effort to try and figure out why reki was not there anymore. we never even see any sort of apology from Miya, we get the one scene in the elevator where Miya is upset (and because he's a lot younger and due to how guarded and crabby he is as a character, he probably never connected the dots.)
the point is: if there was a bad friend it wasn't Reki. But it's not about being a bad friend, or who was one. that is literally so far removed from the storyline that it's weird how OFTEN I hear about it. they are all struggling. in the beginning, they are all struggling separately.
Cherry and Joe no longer hang out like they did as teens. Cherry's wrapped up in why Adam does what he does and how he left them. Joe just wants his friend Cherry back. Langa is dealing with the death of his father AND then moving countries. Miya deals with bullies at school and then the isolation and loneliness he feels is the best in his school when he just wants to skate with his friend. Shadow has a crush on his manager and didn't know how to approach her. and reki? reki was a loner. he had no friends at school, he lost his only skate friend due to injuries and he worked at the skate shop.
literally, the story is so much deeper than a skating community having problems throughout it with other skaters. it's about a group of (unlikely) people coming together (or back together for Joe and Cherry) and not feeling so isolated in everyday life and understanding that it is fine to still have hobbies because it's FUN and your life shouldn't be about working to death and being lonely. (also think about how this takes place in Japan and there's a lot of talk, esp from foreigners, about how lonely it is because all there is work. it can be really isolating.) Anyway, feel free to add on or ramble at me, I love a good chat bout it.

I cannot being to tell you how furious it makes me that masking is now considered stupid and people get literally bullied for it like we could've learned so much from this pandemic, we could've internalized respect and the idea of caring for others and the reasons behind giving up certain behaviors but NOOOO I have to live in literal fear someone's going to take a picture of me on a plane and post it on twitter and jerk off to the idea of how dumb I'm being

Finally got around to watching ep 11 (´;ω;`)
#I'm late...#I'm sorry I wasn't able to watch the episode by time last week but again. Food poisoning. And then the new chapter came out#I feel like I had much more to say when I started watching it last week...#Mmmmhh. I really like when bsd animation uses the colored lineart effect for flashbacks / subspaces (Anne's Room‚ Poe's books).#I think it's one of the prettiest and most original things of the bsd animation.#I've always felt like the Natsume reveal was a bit coming out of nowhere lol.#Here's this legendary ability user everyone knows but no one has ever seen with this immensely unthinkable powerful ability...#That the reader literally wasn't ever made aware of in the previous 49 chapters lol#After all that build up‚ his ability even feels a little underwhelming.#Which I suppose was the intended result‚ but I'm not sure it really works all that well in the end.#Then Naomi's words “Come to think of it‚ the things that happen when Mii-chan vanishes [...]‚ disasters are stopped every time”#really feel soooo out of place when so-called Mii-chan was never before mentioned up to this episode (╥﹏╥)#But I'll stop complaining. It's nothing big really#Fukuzawa and Mori's relationship is very homoerotic. Tbh#I looooove the ss/kk I don't even have much to say just watching scenes of them interacting together fills my heart of a warm feeling :')#The animation quality is very poor and the drawings are very undetailed but really I love ss/kk too much to care.#A lot of emphasis is put by the fandom on Atsushi's cruel remark towards Akutagawa in this ch/ep and it *is* cruel but really...#Akutagawa had literally just attacked Atsushi in a death-threatening way‚ futilely and completely unprompted#I can't find it in myself to blame Atsushi if he was irritated and lashed out at him.#And all their other moments are just so cute. What do you mean Akutagawa is deeply interested in understanding Atsushi's motivations.#What do you mean Atsushi can't get Akutagawa out of his mind!!!! They're so cute#So many more cute moments were cut out too rip lawnmower line you'll always be missed rip date line you'll always be missed#I feel like Pushkin's character is another instance of‚‚‚ Wow me and the author's morals really don't align at all#I really don't like the narrative of “weaker people will constantly try to harm and take advantage of strongest ones”#random rambles#Fun fact when I watched this episode for the first time I asked my mother to join me. Because I know a ss/kk scene was coming and I really–#didn't want to watch it alone. Well as it turned out the whole first half of the episode was dedicated to old man fighting–#and she gave up after that 😂😂 But I'm still grateful to her for trying.
