the moment you woke up, you felt a headache forming in the back of your head and desperately wanted to call out of work, but knew you couldn't.

you had a giant pile of work sitting in your inbox so you knew you would just have to push through it. tyson could tell you had a headache forming when you trudged into the kitchen.

"hey, you okay?" he asked, his brows furrowing together as he slowly made his way over to you.

"i'm good." you nodded, "just a small headache."

if there was one thing about your headaches it was that they were never just a "small" headache.

"you sure?" tyson wasn't convinced.

"i'm good." you nodded, flashing him a smile. he still didn't look convinced but didn't push it.

you went to work and tried to power through your day, but as the day progressed, things only got worse. you jumped when your phone rang and sighed when saw it was tyson.

"hello?" you asked.

"hi, honey!" you could hear the smile through the phone.

"too loud." you whispered.

"oh, sorry." tyson spoke quieter, "is it worse?"

"just slightly." you hummed, rubbing your temples, "i'm almost done through, just a few more pages," you explained.

"y/n..." he sighed.

"i'll be home soon, promise." you insisted.

"i'll be here." he sighed. you said your goodbyes before hanging up and quickly getting back to work.

by the time you pulled into your parking spot, you felt like you were gonna fall over. before you could even get out of your car, you saw tyson standing in front of your car, a sad smile on his face.

you couldn't help but smile as you opened the door, "hi."

"hi, honey." he smiled right back, wrapping his arms around you, "how're you feeling?"

"i think i need a wheelchair, tys." you breathed into his shoulder, "i think if i close my eyes, they aren't gonna open."

"let's go." he reached into the passenger side and slung your bag over his shoulder before picking you up, "you're so sweet. my prince charming." you gently poked his cheek.

"anything for my princess." he kissed your cheek, "oh, also, i got your favorite."

"tyson jost!" you looekd at him, "with extra cheese?"

"extra cheese hold the mushrooms." he nodded.

"wow, you are a prince." you kissed his cheek.

Hear ye, hear ye!

All of you who have been anxiously awaiting Chapter 4 can send a big thank you to the Microsoft mayhem that happened on Friday. Because of it, I have had two entire, unprecedented, days off of work during which all I did was write and edit chapter 4! Stuff like this never happens to me either, so I ate it up. My work computer is still super broken too, so who knows what will happen tomorrow, lol.

So, chapter 4, barring anything disastrous that I do not yet foresee – is coming very soon. Like, any day this week soon. For now, I am looking for bugs and other errors until I feel comfortable getting the update loaded. I will also be updating the warning list and some things on the itch page. I keep feeling like I'm forgetting something I wanted to do, and am having a hell of a time remembering what it was…

Anyway, if it interests you, more details below!

In going through some of the Google Error Reports, I had a couple that I either could not resolve or find.

It was reported that checking player stats in chapter 1 would not work – that it would flash only for a moment. I could not recreate this. If anyone else has seen this, please let me know.

In the end of chapter 2 where there are multiple ways to spend your time there seems to be some issues with how choices become unselectable after certain clicks and it just doesn't seem to function correctly. I have fixed the issues I have found, but could not recreate all of the instances that were reported. This section may get an overhaul in the future since I understand the coding a bit more now.

It was also reported that fonts are not changing. There is definitely a weird issue with this and it will take some time for me to sit down and hammer out. The fonts do change for me, but notably, I don't think they are switching to the correct font types. They don't even appear to be the same fonts from when I first starting this project, lol. This issue is on hold for now.

The last 2 bonus segments for the end of chapter 3 are being pushed aside for the time being. I kept finding myself feeling like I was hammering them into the chapter and it was a little exhausting. If I force it, it will be less enjoyable to read. The segments that are missing are the ones for hanging out with Zahn and Nathanael. Zahn's is easy to wiggle in elsewhere at least, but I'm not sure if Nathan's will make it in or not. We'll see, my motivation was purely for chapter 4, so now that it is ready to go, I'll have another crack at it before I drop or move them completely. They aren't super important to the story, but are just for fun (and if Oswin got his, it's only fair that Zahn gets theirs too). That last section of chapter 3 ended up way too long, so it may get adjusted later anyway.

As with any work in progress, I can't guarantee that your old saves will work. That's probably how we are going to have to roll for a bit until I really get things nice and smooth. Eventually, I will add an option to start from a later chapter and go through and make the (MANY) relevant choices to skip ahead. This may be implemented when Chapter 6 is ready to go since all the ROs will be available.

I also want to figure out how to implement named saves to make it easier for you to sort. I appreciate IFs that feature this, but I do not yet know how to do it, but I'm going to research. I like to play through with several MCs, and I'd like to offer enough info in the saves and/or Stats Menu that you can do this and easily know who you are playing as. Let me know what you would like most in the Player Stats Menu too. Note, that some options do not appear here until you choose them in the story.

Since Chapter 4 is down, I will soon be posting a big poll about future IFs. I've been compiling info for it here and there for a couple weeks on possible options for me to write in conjunction with God-Cursed. So, stay tuned for that in the coming days.

I will FINALLY get to my inbox in earnest as well! I will keep reaction asks paused until further notice since they take me the longest to answer. Feel free to still send in comments or quicker questions. If your question is too spoilery to answer, I will not be able to post about it.

MAJOR update

So I don't know if anyone else even cares about this stuff, but I made some huge progress with tagging/retagging things here. For some time I haven't been tagging any posts at all lacking motivation because, seriously, does anyone even look at tags these days?

Still, my love for this ship keeps me going. Maker, I'd forgotten how therapeutic the process is. For a few days I almost stopped dwelling on my own personal issues.

Allow me to remind y'all that this blog has a list of TAGS, a rather extensive one. I shudder to think how much time I spent compiling it all, but it does make me happier somehow

We have an impressive collection of fanart, so many comic bits they had to be separated into their own category to make it possible to navigate through all the artwork, writings that I don't think can be found anywhere else. In the beginning this fandom also used to produce a lot of memes and jokes, not so much of it now, but we don't forget our history! There is so much to uncover and rediscover.

I guess that canoodling/hugging/cuddling/snuggling tags are still a mess (always have been) despite my best efforts, but I genuinely tried to make it make sense somewhat. Having 8000+ pieces of art for your ship gets you there. Hard to believe it used to be almost nonexisistent in the beginning. It was so easy to navigate in 2012...

I didn't even try to sort out the comics, and fiction is not tagged either, except for the most basic basics.

Well, if anyone has any better ideas/suggestions don't be shy about @ ing me. Hell, if you can think of any new tags worth adding, let me know. And if you could reply to the relevant posts with it, it'd be fantastic.

4) What fandoms do you write for?

BG3 is my bread and butter, but if you visit my Ao3 you'll find a few fics there for other things and at some point I'd like to pick up some more stories for other fandoms, too.

5) Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?

I'm terrible at this; one day I'll go back and respond to all the comments on my inbox - I went through a weird phase of feeling like I shouldn't because I a)couldn't distribute my responses evenly and b) didn't want to 'look' like I was padding out the comments on a fic, if that latter one makes sense? So I've responded rather sporadically to date. I ought to be better at this, and might start that tomorrow, even if it means replying to comments about 8 months later. Better late than never?

6) What’s the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

Hmmm this depends on your definition of angsty, I suppose - most of my endings land in the happy to bittersweet zone, and the angstiest ending I'll write is still on its way. For now, I'd say probably the ending of Communion of Shadows, my He Who Was x Shadowheart fic, ended with most sorrow. Fitting, given the pairing.

7) What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

The Harper and The Tower is probably the winner here. When I started that fic it was out of a deep and powerful need to write about Harper Geraldus and give him a proper character exploration, healing, friends, family, purpose, and a supportive partner who could help him with where he ends up at the end of the game. 155k words later, I'd say he's got more or less all of that.

8) Do you get hate on fics?

If I do I probably don't see it, but, let's be totally honest my audience is so tiny if they're there, it's because they want to be and I'm sure that helps me a lot.

9) Do you write smut?

I sure do! I have almost no fic on BG3 that isn't smut anymore, which is hilarious as I'd not written a word of it before this time last year. I've grown a lot more confident as I've gone along and explored things I never expected to, and some of my favourite writing includes some of my smut. I don't particularly agree with the idea that it's unneccessary - it's played a vital role in both my Abdirak x Donnick and Klaus x Kar'niss pairings - everything you do in your life shapes and speaks to you as a person, everything. Inevitably, intimacy is part of that, and it's not a stone I'll leave unturned.

10) Do you write crossovers?

Not yet (for this fandom), but I would, if I could find a connection that spoke loudly enough to me.

11) Have you ever had a fic stolen?

I don't think so? I write for about 5 people, I'd be amazed.

16) What are your writing strengths?

I'd like to think I'm good at character voice and characterisation overall; I put a great deal of thought into every character and every dynamic I write and try hard to keep my characters internally consistent and distinct, and I never work against a character. I think I'm decent at environmental storytelling, too, and I've said it before but I'll say it again. You're the things you do, the things you surround yourself with, your habits, your spaces, your belongings - all of that matters just as much as the thoughts rattling in your skull.

17) What are your writing weaknesses?

Pacing, going on too long, getting overly caught up on the minutea of sensations when I need to let the dialogue sing a bit, starting 800 wips and letting my muse drown me, being deeply disorganised and not having any consistency in my writing habits, flying by the seat of my pants instead of planning. There's quite a lot.

18) Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in a fic?

I've used a few bits of 'fantasy' languages, such as writing a bit of drow where appropriate for my unpetrified drow fic A Disastrous Path but overall I'm not proficient enough in another language to feel confident I could do so.

19) First fandom you wrote for?

Final Fantasy 7, and not the remake, we're talkin' back in the day. I'm old.

20) Favorite fic you’ve ever written?

Sufferer, I shall is my favourite work and will probably remain so for a while. I'm not sure I'll write better so. I've said this a lot though soooo

I have a big personal spot in my heart for Communion of Shadows, which I'm also proud of but don't talk about much, and in terms of fics that haven't really had a lot of readership, I was genuinely really happy with my Geraldus x Bor one shot Stoke the Fire, which might be my favourite smut one shot I've ever written and a comfort fic for me.

L!LD Finale and what's next

Hello everyone! I wanna thank everyone again for reading this fancomic that I've been working on for roughly 9 years. It was fun to write this lonely and pathetic evil villain that we all love. Originally it was just her on an asteroid in a cave with her statues of Wander, Sylvia, Lord Hater & Peepers and her only neighbor who was Nikolai Nekoburg but I decided to add more wacky neighbors and the rest is history. I didn't know how long this was going to last but I already had the ending in mind with her and Baron Bleakness reuniting (the name of her coming from me mis-hearing the lyrics to "I'm The Bad Guy" "I've always had a fondness for baroness and bleakness (Baroness Bleakness)" ).

So I have an epilogue in mind which I will draw and release all of the pages of at once so it'll be a while but I'll do preview Wednesday to help show the progress. I also want to do backstory comics for the other neighbors like I did for Aloysius: When Nikolai and Yulvanna first met, when Nastasia and Shelby first met, what happened to Avalon and Fulbert's mom, a bit with the Errimins and a bit with Old Lady Willikers. Just like the Al one, these will be in black and white and released at once so it'll take a while. I will be taking the rest of this month off to relax after doing this fancomic for so long.

I will still be answering asks and I plan on emptying my inbox as best I can with weekend asks as I have been doing.

Hello! How long does it usually take you (and/or ur friend) to write a chapter?? And what sort of process do you go through to write one???

Hello to you too!

That's a bit of a hard question, because frankly it kind of depends on how busy we both are, and on what point of the story we are at. We can just as easily write just a couple paragraphs in a full day, as we can write four or five pages of dialogue and narration in six or seven hours.

Usually I try to have a good bit of backlog on my document, before I decide to post the story, just so that I have a buffer in case we don't write much in a particular week.

As for how we do it? We use a kind of back-and-forth system in Discord. She will type her reply (from her character's side), and then I'll reply with mine. Then she goes again, and I go after. So on and so forth, and reply after reply, we slowly build up the stories as we move along. We have different chats for different stories, usually one for the story itself, and one for us to discuss what we want to work towards in said story.

Like for example, the characters are in the middle of a conversation, and it's my turn to reply from my character's side. I can go to the discussion chat, and tell her "okay, I can see him replying with 'this', or 'that', which do you think would be better?" and she'll tell me "I think 'that' fits better in the context" so when I write my reply, I then work towards the 'that' option.

As you can see, there's three main things going on right now, two of which I started posting on my AO3. The third one, with the Time Travel, is still only in the first stages of story progression, and I'm not sure yet if I want to share it or not. We haven't gotten far enough yet for me to decide whether it's worth putting it out there or leave it as a story purely for ourselves.

Winter is Coming - Rekindled schedule adjustment and plans for next year!

So it's that time of year now when conventions, markets, and expos for next year are rolling out their submission periods. So far I've gotten accepted to attend the Atlantic Entertainment Expo again (both venues so two shows), MiraCon, and I'm gonna be attending not one, not two, but THREE tattoo expos ! Which is definitely a lot, but I'm excited, it's gonna be good publicity and good money :' ) I'm also gonna be applying to HalCon, Geekquinox, and Animaritimes again, I didn't get in on HalCon this year and didn't find out about Geekquinox until submissions were done (and I only got in on Animaritimes at the last minute when they were looking for people to fill in) but if I do get into any (or all) of those, I'll have to play the fun game of "make sure none of these events land on the same weekend" LMAO

All that's to say, it's gonna be busy next year! (and all of those are the ones I actually decided to apply to, there are ones I did this past year that I'm not planning on doing again because they just didn't turn out to be as good as I had hoped). Thankfully, none of this is starting up until spring, so I'm gonna enjoy the winter off and get to work on new stuff to sell. I'm really eager to get through the rest of [AFTERBIRTH], it's still got quite some time until it's done but my plan is to pitch Thread of Fate to publishers once [AFTERBIRTH] is finished - and if it's not able to get in with those publishers, then I'm gonna pursue other means in getting it published, either digitally or traditionally. Time Gate is a series I've been working on for well over a decade of my life, and it's not something I want to keep throwing to the wolves of free-to-read platforms like WT. As much as I love being able to offer it for free, I want it to be taken more seriously than being just another free to read comic and that starts with me and how I choose to distribute it.

Right now working on all these things is sort of limiting due to the fact that I'm stuck on my iPad, but I'm making it work as best I can and I'm hoping to have the new PC setup going by the end of the year running with a new tablet (currently shopping around between an XP-pen and Huion, I don't want to get a Kamvas 22 Plus again if it's gonna shit the bed in 2 years like this one did, apparently this is a common problem from what I've seen :/)

So yeah, with all that in mind, I'm planning on adjusting Rekindled's update schedule. While I did initially want to offer a poll for y'all to choose between "shorter updates once a week" and "full updates once every 2 weeks", frankly I'm erring more towards the "every two weeks" one because it'll give me more actual time and room to work on everything else. Not to mention (and I'm sure you've all noticed by now) that I have a very specific way that I structure many of these episodes so making them shorter would sort of ruin that rhythm. I don't want to be sacrificing the comic's quality, pacing, or narrative progression for a schedule adjustment.

This isn't going to be an immediate change, I'm thinking of doing this sometime in December so that y'all can have a decent amount of heads up before the switch. I know it's gonna be a little painful to go to a slower release schedule but ultimately I think it's the best way to go so that I can balance all of the projects I have going on without sacrificing quality. Thank you all so much for your patience and support. It seriously blows me away to see all of the wonderful comments, asks, and support for what I do here every day. I'm gonna do my best as well to respond to asks in my inbox as they come in, but please just know I get a LOT of them on a regular basis, it's sort of a Hydra situation where I respond to 1 or 2 and then get 4 more LOL That said, rest assured that I do read and appreciate each and every one of them <3 That also includes essay posts about LO, with LO returning in November I'll surely have more stuff to say about it so I'm gonna try and keep up as best I can :' )

On a final note, we're coming up to the one year anniversary of when I started posting actual episodes of Rekindled!! I'm so excited for this, I can't believe it's been a year!! And I have so much awesome stuff planned for the story that we're gonna see throughout the next year, I can't wait! "On the Great Alkali Plain" part 2, from Letters from Watson, arrived in my inbox this morning, bringing with it a predictable cloud of dust from approaching horses (since this isn't a George R.R. Martin novel, so we're not going to introduce characters just to kill them off immediately).

But what a caravan! When the head of it had reached the base of the mountains, the rear was not yet visible on the horizon. Right across the enormous plain stretched the straggling array, waggons and carts, men on horseback, and men on foot. Innumerable women who staggered along under burdens, and children who toddled beside the waggons or peeped out from under the white coverings.

Either we're running late on the Oregon Trail (since Doyle did not have social media to live-blog progress across the dusty waste) or the year 1847 is important, and these are Mormons.

“Shall I go forward and see, Brother Stangerson,” asked one of the band.

These have got to be Mormons.

“Nigh upon ten thousand,” said one of the young men; “we are the persecuted children of God—the chosen of the Angel Merona.”

Tell me you're a Mormon without telling me you're a Mormon.

“We are the Mormons,” answered his companions with one voice.

OMG, they're Mormons.

This makes the geographic names a little dicey -- the Mormon Trail ran through Wyoming, similar but not identical to today's I-80, so the Rio Grande River should be nowhere nearby -- but Doyle didn't have access to Google Maps, and it's not like his readers in the UK would go factcheck. Even with the Transcontinental Railroad completed back in 1869, most places in the Great American Desert were still remote in the 1880s, and California on the far end was still feeling the effects of isolation. Doyle also misspells the Angel Moroni and uses a masculine-ending name on a Sierra, so he's working from popular myth and the memory of things he's read. I wonder how many letters with corrections he received.

(At the time Doyle was writing, "Mormon" was the term used by the group themselves. Since about the 1980s, church leadership started urging the use of "Latter-Day Saints" instead. When I lived in Phoenix, that's near a big LDS population in Mesa, so I wince at using the older term. From here on out, if I'm quoting Doyle, I'll use "Mormon," but if I'm talking, I'll stick to LDS.)

The big reason the LDS wagon train is headed west is because they practiced polygamy at the time, and this was considered both illegal and immoral in larger U.S. society. (That's not a critique of polyamory today, when enthusiastic concept and clear rules are normalized.)

So far Doyle's account of the LDS party is generally positive -- they're organized, efficient, knowledgeable about their surroundings, prepared for danger, and responsible toward people needing rescue, if a bit holier-than-thou -- but I can't believe he's going to handle polygamy with anything other than distaste.

Polygamy is the thing LDS have been known for (to their chagrin after the mainstream LDS church banned it), so at the end of this section, Doyle's original audience is split into two groups:

Readers who have no real idea what a "Mormon" is and accept it as just one more crazy American thing, who now figure Lucy is rescued and wonder what goes wrong later to lead to murder; and

Readers who know about polygamy and are feeling dread for Lucy.

I figured out how to set up API keys (which honestly was NOT as confusing as my brain was making it out to be 😭) and made the switch to gpt 4o. I usually fiddle around with my settings depending on what I'm going for but temp is usually in the 0.8~0.9 mark, tokens 600~800 and context 5500~7500. I played around with some of my priv bots today that have around 2k~3k permanent tokens and so far it's going really good. Since I had a day off work today I got around 160 msgs (Put $10 on my acc balance. About $2.55 has been knocked off. Which honestly I don't mind for the higher standard of roleplaying I'm getting now. $1 around per 100 msgs isn't that terrible for lil old me) and I didn't feel as stressed nor bored as I did when trying to get the JLLM to work for me. Still a chronic swiper but it isn't that bad since most msgs are actually what I'm looking for—It's just mostly my curiosity now 😓 but I'll snap out of the habit as time goes on.

JLLM has been so unbelievably buggy and copy n paste as of late (well it always has been but it's getting worse not better as time goes on). So many 'your mind, body and soul' 'playing with fire and you're about to get burnt' and nipping my neck/ear and grabbing my chin every 2 messages like ENOUGH!! I'm about to spontaneously combust and NOT in a good way 😭 Haven't ran into this with openai yet but again, it's only been a day so I'm probably viewing it with rose tint glasses rn but idrc it's such a huge improvement to JLLM it's actually kinda shocking. Plus I think 4o being so strict on nsfw means I can avoid characters losing their personality and becoming either a dom daddy top or sub who can't do anything for themselves depending how my persona acts. Allows for such more compelling dynamics and SLOWBURN! ANGST!! AWESOME!!!

The Invalid's Guide to Making Money Off Mobile Games

(Please note I'm using my affiliate links, so if you click through and join up I will get rewarded at no cost to you.)

The primary way that I make money is through Swagbucks. (I also use Inbox Dollars, but I tend to use Swagbucks more for different deals. They're both owned by the same parent company.) Swagbucks is a survey website, but they also offer affiliate deals with mobile games. For proof that I'm not grifting, here is my profile.

Each swagbuck (SB) is a penny, so 100 is a dollar, 1000 is 10 dollars. As you can see as of posting this, I've earned 121, 297 SB or $1,212.97 since I started in January. I play various mobile games for a few hours every day, but I took a break for about a month and a half since I was getting burned out. I cash out to Paypal usually, but you can get a bunch of different gift cards, it's nice to be able to directly get people gift cards for their birthdays through the website.

There are a ton of different offers to choose from, from various sponsors of varying levels of credibility. They'll offer to complete different checkpoints within the game for SB within a certain amount of time.

When I'm looking for an offer to start, I'm looking for a few things in particular. The amount on offer has to be worth my time. Usually, I'm looking for offers in the $40-$150 range. Anything above that is likely to have a catch, require massive amounts of in-app purchases to complete, or is downright impossible. I always consult the swagbucks reddit to check out offers beforehand, so I don't waste my time. I also consider the time investment I'm putting in. Usually 1000 levels of a puzzle game for $35 is the minimum I'm looking for. For idle games, I'm looking more in the $50 minimum range.

This is one of the offers I'm currently working on. (the game is Klondike, for $110 total offer)

Typically with an offer in this range, I know I'm going to make a few purchases. I always try to go for stamina boosters on the cheap. I've spent about $5 so far and I'm only a week into this and already about 1/3 of the way done. I log in multiple times a day since I am, as I've stated, disabled, so I have the freedom to do so. If you do not have the ability to be so on top of things, I recommend looking at the second to last goal point, and making that your target.

Other offers are like this

(This is Ant Legion, a game I've played before). As you can see the amount on offer is significantly higher. $340 to be exact, though keep an eye out for things like "purchase X"--typically those are 1:1 rebates, so you get a boost for free. With these types of games, you're going to be making substantially more in-app purchases. When I try this offer, I'm going to budget about $40-$50 so that I'm still making a profit of about $285. Understand that there is risk involved--if I spend that money and I *don't* make it all the way to 31 in time, I'm SOL.

Swagbucks also offers gambling games. Just stay away from those. I did one and spent about $70 to make a profit of about $150, but none of it was from the app itself. They're predatory and meant to funnel in-app purchases, though again, check the reddit. There might be a couple that are legit.

Typically with Swagbucks, I like to be doing 3 offers at a time--two idle games, and one puzzle game. I'll check my idle games throughout the day to make progress, and sit and binge the puzzle games to get to the level checkpoints (Usually about 1000 levels, which isn't as bad as it sounds.)

Before I get into the next section, this is very important, please listen to me.

If you cash out for more than the minimum threshold for taxation in your country, you will owe taxes on the money you make.

You'll need to do research for your individual situation. For USAmericans, the threshold is $600. I budget about 10% of that to go into taxes, and I have a spreadsheet with receipts for in-app purchases which qualify as business expenses in this case. Here is the SB page for more info.

Next, I've just started using Mistplay after being bombarded with ads about it. generally, I like it. I'm also not saying that it's possible to double-dip SB and Mistplay rewards, because I would not do that because it's against terms and conditions, but it might be possible (though I definitely don't recommend it).

Mistplay works differently in that it offers 'units' for playing games for a certain amount of time. I've earned about 500 units in a day playing mobile games for a few hours, and minimum cash out starts at $5 for 1800 units. Overall it's a nice system that allows me to make money on more "fun" games that I'd otherwise be playing anyway without making money, such as for instance, Honkai: Star Rail which I'm planning on starting tonight. And if you do join Mistplay, this is my recruit link ;).

Overall tips:

be prepared to watch ads. I have my shit set up on multiple devices, I have a phone and a tablet with different games on each and I usually have ads going on on one screen while I'm playing merge what the fuck ever on the other. That's how they're making the money to give to you, pussy up etc.

It does take some dedication to rack up big numbers. I consider myself on a fairly relaxed grind and usually play mobile games for about four hours a day. You can try out your limits and whatnot

RESEARCH. you can download a game and test it outside of the SB tracking to try it out, or check out the subreddit. Mucho helpful information.

IF YOU DO AN OFFER and it DOES NOT TRACK CORRECTLY do not panic. Complete the offer to the best of your ability, take screenshots, and use the SB help center to request your missing SB credit. They usually get back to me within a business day with my shit in pending.

It's a slow crawl to victory. You'll be like "i am not making fucking ANYTHING." and then the next week you'll be like. pending for $100. Be patient.

Check out the other shit on the SB and Inbox Dollars websites. I occasionally do surveys for over a dollar (though I use Forthright for surveys because overall it pays better for my time.)

April is here! Possibly my favorite month! New beginnings! Warmer weather that isn't oppressive! In my case, road trips!

Reflecting on new beginnings...It's time for me to seriously re-examine my relationship with comics. I'm not sure anyone has been following along with my Monthly Comics journey, considering that it's been kept behind my Patreon paywall, but if you've been keeping up, I'm on month three of this challenge and I'm starting to realize that it's failing to do what I intended it to do for me.

I've been in a comics rut since I sold my short comic anomaly back in Dec. 2023. That is the last time I have been able to get a full comic - not just a two panel test page - past the rough sketch phase and into something fully realized. I've been lending my services as an illustrator to an independent comic project, but that is a loooooong, multi-chaptered affair that has not yet progressed to line art. I initially thought that maybe I was burnt out with art, but that can't be true, since I'm still drawing, just...not in comic form. And it's not for a lack of ideas! I come up with many comic ideas that I absolutely love, I just don't execute them fully! So what's the hold up?

To me, the logical next step seemed to be something like my monthly comics challenge, which is supposed to span a year and encourage me to hold myself to a goal of completing one comic a month. But then I got tired. January's comic was left unfinished because it was too long. February's was abandoned because I just hated how it was coming out. I got much further with March's comic - granted, it is only three pages - but I started to hate that one as well.

It's dawning on me that my issues with comics aren't the result of a lack of ideas (or really a lack of time either, since I clearly have time to illustrate and also do my coursework), but rather my own perfectionism. This certainly isn't helped by the fact that I'm not as confident in my stylistic choices in my comics as in my illustrations. I put a lot of pressure on myself to create comics that are visually perfect and also emotionally meaningful, which should actually take second place to practicing paneling and figuring out how I want to approach simplifying my process to fit a medium as labor-intensive as comics, at least as of now. Maybe I don't want to simplify my process at all! How am I supposed to know this if I keep dropping comics before I get the chance to figure them out?

This leads to me doing two things; abandoning all of my comics because they don't fit up to my standards (which robs me of the chance to learn through failure), and running around in circles doing panel tests (ultimately useless past the first two, because my style as an artist is going to keep changing with time no matter what I do).

All that is to say, attempting to brute-force my way back into loving comics like I used to isn't working because it isn't tackling the heart of my issue. Before writing this blog post, I was thinking about what this means for my monthly comics challenge. I'm really not sure if I should quit and distance myself from the medium, allowing me time to "recharge" and rediscover why I loved comics so much, or if I should keep making attempts, just with much looser standards in hopes of finding comics fun again.

I never know how to end these, by the way. I think I'm going to start doing show, book, movie etc reviews to fill some of the future blogs up because I can't make every single one about myself and my projects. This is mentioned before the cut, but if you've read this far, here's a reminder that I also want to use this blog format to answer anybody's questions about my characters, my art process, etc. in a more detailed format. I don't check my DM's anymore (in fairness to me, they're broken, and I don't like talking to strangers in such a direct way anyway) but I love talking about art and typing these long posts with my new keyboard that has very chunky clicky keys, so please send any questions my way, if you have them.

Granted I do get here late (Since I suffer anxiety checking my feed most of the time during the day) I get a sense of ease seeing your posts. I know that sounds like a lot of phony junk of words Considering the circumstances but I do hope you know that I really look forward to you.. It's been really hard to. Be there. Though you cross my mind a lot even when I don't expect it? Example. Earlier today when I was actually having a breakdown and having those (run away from home) thoughts, I saw our clock in one of the rooms and thought of you. WHICH SOUNDS REALLY STUPID AND NOT SO IMPORTANT IN THE MOMENT BUT I COULD HEAR DHMIS 2 IN MY EARS.. Making me sort of slow down a bit.. I never realized it until now that friends can be there for you. Even when they're NOT ACTUALLY THERE. Even in my several low moments lately there is these little glimpses of you and others showing up in my life. I don't know how it works.. How it seems so pointless/useless to associate internet friends with such importance but really can change so much of my empty colorless world.

What I'm trying to say is. Thank you Spooky- For everything you've done to change my world just enough. Through your artwork, Through your storytelling, Through your posts about Dobuno Awa, The pins you've shown me, The cosplay of Tony progress.. I know all of this seems not important to you and I'm not going to tell you how to feel but you have no idea how much you've inspired me to some degree. Even if I don't think I'll have a far future- To some extent you've still put some kind of life into my empty desolate world. I do hope someday I can draw you so many things, And I can just ask you questions all the time about everything.. Genuinely I just care about you a lot. Even if you might not believe that. I still haven’t finished the game so this is going to be my incomplete thoughts but I have, unsurprisingly, mixed feelings.

I'll put under a cut just in case! And apologies if it's a bit slapdash, I'm still a bit covid-brained.

I am going to be controversial in that I've never loved the bringing the griffons back part of the lore. Last Flight is easily my least favourite book, I preferred the imagery of griffons being a symbol of the warden's lost valour, rather than something to literally bring back.

However, I did like the Cauldron and what it showed about the dead glory of the wardens. I thought that was really good! Also the little histories in the memories about the wardens during the siege were very interesting, and a clever way to get around not importing choice by making it about people from the backgrounds of characters we know.

Davrin is also one of my absolute favourite companions. I love his attitude, I love his resolve and his inner conflict, and the performance is I think one of the strongest in the game. Controversially I kind of wish Assan wasn't a griffon but was an actual mortal child lol, I love the parenthood analogy but I kind of thing it would hit harder. As cute as Assan is.

I loved the First Warden. Again, another favourite character for me. I remember thinking FINALLY when he turned up. Finally, an adult! Finally somebody reacting to this news in a way that makes sense! I chose to talk him down and I loved his final stand as well, though I'm wondering if the implication that the gods can talk to the wardens through their blood is going to... pay off elsewhere. I've also always been a fan of Evka and Antoine, so seeing them get such a prominent role was great, and on the whole the wetlands is one of my favourite areas in the game. Feels very, very origins.

On that note, it's been one of my favourite things through the series that the wardens get progressively less majestic the more we learn. In Origins you hear of the Order in other lands, and you think (and your warden probably also thinks) oh, it's okay, out there somewhere there is a whole retinue of heroes that WILL save us! We just have to survive this, and then it will be okay! And then seeing that the order even at its headquarters is woefully underfunded, largely people who were conscripted and are scared and just trying to do their best... I really, really like that as somebody who has always been most interested in that side of Dragon Age storytelling.

I do wish we had a little more reactivity to our warden-commander in the game, even if the game did just decide to confirm that they were dead (hey, it's completely justified to me to kill them off screen. They would be nearing their calling now I think.) And the way the blight functions is a bit... nonsensical to me now we are absolutely COVERED in blight all the time. The likelihood of it getting in the bloodstream is so, so high the way the fighting works!

I've heard the story continues into other territory, so I will let you know what I think when we get there...
