Back Up Art Archive Update
Last time, I spoke about posting my art to other social media sites - Pillowfort, Bluesky, and had just starting to on cohost.
Well, cohost posted their March Financial Update recently and it's not looking great - potentially running out of funding early April 2024. it could still work out, they've listed plans, but I don't know how finances for running a site are so I can't really comment on their plans. But considering I just started there I'm not inclined to get really invested in it right now. Especially since, skimming their previous financial posts, they said they were doing well. And the tone of the post doesn't help.
(There's more I could go into but let's just leave it there.)
I also found this Tumblr post which talks about this too and links to a mastodon post that I remember coming across before about some issues with cohost. At the time I was also looking at hive I believe since it was another big option and even though I decided on neither of them at the time, I now remember why I didn't bother with cohost after I made my account. It's something to dig into more, I guess (if I can find time for that).
I liked how they handled some things (muffle vs silencing tags and words, allowing you to see automatically see certain content warnings like spoilers for a game, pinning tags to your profile). I think I'm gonna just focus on Pillowfort and Bluesky again as play I catch up on an art archive since Tumblr hasn't been looking so great. Pillowfort financial status isn't the most amazing either but they're way more transparent about it and have a monthly breakdown of their expenses and progress on funding and are against generative AI and other tech crap that's come up over the years. So they get my primary energy for this backup/move.
#cohost#bluesky#pillowfort#tumblr#social media#text#somehow i'm not surprised#i think i've really appreciated pillowfort's financial transparency that i felt a little skeptical about cohost not having theirs anywhere#i was mostly trusting artists that i liked when they decided to go to cohost. and streamers that had moved over long before#i know no place is perfect but can't help but feel tired. again. especially when i had that inkling feeling about it but hoped i was wrong#of course things can turn around but like i said pillowfort seems pretty good#it's got some early/annoying tumblr wrinkles - cohost does too - but i trust them more

...honestly, people aren't wrong about the whole '>backlash >whoops! sorry, we didn't mean it like THAT!' thing being a usual song and dance for companies including tumblr, and I even did mention it in the tags of... one of the related posts...
I was still surprised they bothered responding so early, but. ...yeah, I guess we'll just have to see. The whole "Outdated" wording was extremely worrisome, so...
#[ ;text ]#if I AM being real? I likely won't leave tumblr even if they did do bad changes to the Following feed#I've been here for so long. They would have to get to Musk's Twitter level of self-destruction-- past that actually for me to leave#twitter I don't have attachment to. tumblr I do.#which perhaps is stupid. it's a social media.#but.#...idk i already said moving places is exhausting#I'm already at other places#and if I gravitate more towards them naturally bc of tumblr making a shitty choice and less enjoyable while the other place feels better--#--then. like. i guess so be it there. but.#shrugs#gonna be real my main thought is just being on dreamwidth WHEEZES#i have a pillowfort but no one I know is on it actively so I don't have a connected feeling towards it and... tend to forget to update my#- art account there for months on end...#inkblot just feels bad design-wise right now#plurk is the most likely candidate alongside dreamwidth. funnily. so.#also of course discord but i don't really count that as much#oh yeah. my neocities sites too.

Obey me! Sleeping headcanons
A/N: I've been meaning to write this for so long and I finally did it. It kinda turned more into nighttime headcanons instead of sleeping headcanons but whatever. Enjoy nonetheless!
Featuring: Mammon, Leviathan, Asmodeus, Lucifer and Belphie
Mammon
Mammon is such an easy sleeper
Literally one minute and he's asleep
He loves to sleep with you by his side
It just relaxes him to see you next to him, to know that you're okay
He cuddles up to your side and snuggles his face into your neck
You notice that he fell asleep when his breath becomes a little heavier
He snores slightly but only very quietly
He feels warm and smells like cologne and freshly washed sheets
In the middle of the night he sometimes start to groan while turning around or changing his sleep position
Whenever you get up, to go to the bathroom or to drink something, he starts to cling to you and mumbles that you should stay
He's so silly
Leviathan
He stays up until late at night, gaming
When youre in his room, he usually puts some blankets and pillows on the floor for you two to lay in and relax while gaming together
Like a little pillowfort
When he notices that you're getting sleepier, he turns some of the bigger lights off and pulls the softest blanket over your shoulder
After a while you falls asleep and basically fall into his lap
This makes him panic slightly, since he's not sure if he should move or not
He decided to carefully carry you into his bathtub-bed
He lays you down and puts some pillows and blankets back
He shuts down most of the remaining lights and crawls next to you, careful not to wake you
He lays on his side and is face to face with you
You're breathing is a little heavier so he knows that you're asleep
He gives you a light forehead kiss and takes your hands into his
And he falls asleep by your side
Asmodeus
Before bed he always takes a shower or a bath
He does his skincare together with you
You two share face masks and take selfies while you're at it
He likes to massage your neck to help you relax and lose any tention
After you're finished with everything you lay down on his bed and he joins you
His favorite position is just anything where you two are somehow intertwined
He makes sure that you're comfortable and have all the space that you need nonetheless
The scent of freshness and parfum stays in the air
He doesn't snore or anything but he does like to lightly hum you to sleep
Once you're asleep he start to feel tired as well and falls asleep shortly after you
Lucifer
He also goes to sleep rather late
Being busy with paperwork or something like that, causes him to come to his room later than usual
You're still awake since you couldn't sleep without him
He noticed you being awake and started some smalltalk with you
After he changed clothes, he layed down next to you and sighed heavily
He was so relieved that the day was finally over and he was so lucky to have you by his side
You brushed your hand through his hair, thus relaxing him a lot
He thanked you and kissed your temple
You snuggled to his side and rested your hand on his chest
He relaxed more and more into your touch and fell asleep after a couple of minutes
You smiled softly as you pressed a kiss onto his cheek
You were glad he was here, with you
He felt warm and smelled like paper
You were happy to have him by your side
Belphie
His bed is FILLED with pillows of all sizes and shapes
He sleeps a lot
Sadly your urge to sleep isn't as strong as his is so you can't lay by his side all the time
It makes him whine whenever you leave to get up and actually do something
But when you do sleep next to him, he always hugs you like a pillow
He wraps his arms totally around you and breathes in your natural scent
He loves the way you smell, even if it may sound weird, he finds it so comfortable to have you by his side
Those are always his favorite sleeps
When you wake up, you pepper him with kisses on his face, making him groan and causing you to giggle
He does always blush a little at your action but he obviously tries to hide it

There is word going around that tumblr is moving to be a legacy project and will eventually be sunsetted. Ive been following your work for probably close to a decade, and id hate to lose track of you if tumblr goes down eventually. Is there anywhere else i can continue to follow and support you?
the sky has been falling on tumblr since forever, and yet i stick around. i don't know where else i'd actually enjoy, and im not interested in having a flood of people pitch me new alternatives. i know what i like, and i like tumblr, so ill probably ride this bizarre hellsite to the very last stop.
i might get a bluesky or a pillowfort eventually--if i do, i'll announce it. im finally going to have more time for creative work this winter, so it's possible i'll finally haul myself bitching and moaning on to instagram.
the boat boys series is getting another novel-length installment; in fact, the sequel to after the storm turned out to be three novels long, and so now the focus is on editing book two act one into publishing shape. it's probably going to be published like After the Storm, as a wordpress serial.
i've also recently finished the rough draft of my first solo novel, a coming of age superhero romcom. it's been pretty funny watching everyone start nano just as i typed The End on a story that took me a year and a half. anyway my goal this winter is to get the manuscript into decent shape and then hunt down an agent. if any agents have also been following my tumblr for a decade, hi, i love you, please save me.
after all that, im thinking ill either learn rug tufting or get really into furry porn. possibly both! gigantic neon monster penis could be a very fun subject for throw rugs.
anyway, i have a lot of cool stuff in motion im very excited to share, and ill find a way to let people know about it. thanks for sticking around!

Hello all. In case you've been unaware, recently tumblr has begun rolling out a partnership with Midjourney to scrape the entire website and its users' posts for their AI training. This includes peoples art, and probably also writing and photography. Anything you've posted the company may use for training, and you are opted IN by default.
Obviously this blog has been inactive for quite a while now, and no new art has been or will be posted here, but this puts me in a difficult position. I'm not sure exactly what I'm gonna do with this blog from here on. Some people have recommended editing posts to put a glaze filter over old art so that it's unusable, but I have many hundreds of posts, not all of which are tagged, and I'm unsure whether the AI training has already gotten a hold of them or not, making the potential filter useless. Not to mention the reblogs that already exist of the old un-glazed artwork.
I considered deleting everything, maybe even the blog itself, but that idea...sucks. I like the idea and the feeling that though I'm not active, my art is still out in the fandom tags somewhere, and that I have had an effect on the fandoms I was in and shared my art with. And again, the reblogs still exist, so I'm not sure what that would mean in terms of AI scraping. My worry is that deleting my blog would only relinquish any control I do have of what is done with my art.
As it is I'm kind of at a standstill. I was recently thinking over sharing my art again on other blogs, since I do miss being a part of that creative space. But now this change has kind of crushed that idea entirely. All this, plus the extreme transmisogyny apocalypse happening on here in the last month, and the seeming silencing of important movement tags like palestine, it really makes me want to ditch tumblr altogether. I've seen many people considering switching platforms. There's been a lot of markiplier mutuals specifically who have encouraged me to join cohost, I also have seen pillowfort as an option for others. But those platforms are new, kind of janky and will be hard to get used to for me. Plus, idk if I'm using them wrong but there's like...11 posts in each tag that I've seen so far, which kind of kills the feeling of being a part of a big open fan community I really love. Cohost seems like a nice platform, but if only 30-35 people move over, then it's really going to be a moot point. I wanna be where everyone else in the fandom is. I worry that this mass migration will only splinter communities, as we're all going to different places. I don't want to make 500 accounts on different platforms just to stay active and feel aware in the community.
My entire online social life up to this point has basically been on tumblr, I have a lot of blogs with a LOT of memories attached to them, and it would hurt to just drop them and move away.
Overall I'm at a loss. I enjoy sharing my work, my ideas and thoughts, I like being a part of these creative communities. But it seems like everyday the online space becomes more and more hostile toward creatives and fans, and much more advertiser friendly. One thing i never ever wanted to happen was for my art to be used for AI, and I naively thought that tumblr would be safe in that way. Guess not. I sometimes wonder if eventually all large social media will crash down and The People will dedicate to going back to personal websites and forums. I would enjoy a space where I could share my art on my own terms, and not have other peoples interaction with it overshadow everything else.
I'm not sure what I'm going to do yet. For now I will be staying on tumblr until I figure it out, but definitely no more posting creatively. I want to try to keep my work up if I can. I would recommend on all your blogs going to settings and toggling ON "prevent third-party sharing for this blog", as that will let tumblr know you wish your work, including reblogs of it to be excluded from the scraping. I'm unsure how actually useful this will be, or how much the company will respect these wishes but. It's there. I would also love for you to come talk with me @boobookiss and, hey, maybe make a cohost account. I'm on there as boobookiss as well. I hope to keep touch with you all and see this little community stay together.

In light of tumblr shooting itself in the foot, I've been thinking about what I should do with my art from now on. Obviously, deleting my old posts off here isn't gonna do shit, it's essentially locking my door after my house got emptied out by burglars. Especially with my old rp account I no longer can log into, they're just gonna steal and sell my old art that I posted there and I can't even flip a questionably-affective toggle about it.
Thing is, I dunno how many people are gonna actually leave. I'm not even sure I will, since I have a lot of friends here... And after so many shitty updates a lot of people are just hanging on out of spite at this point.
That said, I'm considering that for art posts and stuff, maybe I'll post them elsewhere and just link to them here so they're not on tumblr's servers? Idk... Tumblr tends to kill the visibility of links but I'm not really sure what else I can do.
Also, there's the question of where to actually post new stuff. Bluesky seems the most active but I dont know if old posts cut off after a certain amount of posts like twitter does, in which case that would not be a good archive in the long run. xnx
Cohost is functionally pretty close to tumblr, but ngl it seems super isolated on there bc of its commitment to not showing any likes on your posts. I get that its to combat the social media numbers game, but the downside is that it looks like nobody's even seen your work. If people like something of yours there's no way outside of notifs to see it, so scrolling down on your page and seeing only zeros after zeros of comments on stuff (comments are the only visible number), it's easy to feel like you're just posting into a void.
Pillowfort is pretty good, and they just added tag blocking and the ability to queue/schedule posts. Still kinda quiet and invite only, but if you sign up for the invite queue you can get one pretty fast. Also i probaby have a ton of invites sitting around if anyone wants one. I wish it had an app, but mobile web version works well enough I guess, and I'm already used to doing that with sheezy and newgrounds, so I just have those open in mobile tabs together.
Speaking of, Newgrounds has been pretty good, but due to the nature of the portal system and stuff you're more encouraged to post only your better-looking stuff there. You CAN post doodles if you want, but only outside of the portal, which limits their visibility. Kinda like dA's scraps system I guess.
Sheezy looks super promising customization-wise so I'm thinking of posting there more when it opens up to more peeps.
Toyhouse also looks really good for OC and story things too, and also has a good degree of customization.
There's probs options I haven't even thought about, but its good to know there ARE options. I may post in several of those places for now and see how it goes. Test the waters a bit.
If you're thinking of moving your art elsewhere lemme know where, I'm curious to see where people are going :o
Especially you moots, i need to refind my pals in these other places!

Alright, I've actually made an intro post and posted one (1!) art piece over at cohost now! It's now in the running for posting priority.
What I mean by that is if you're on pillowfort/bsky/cohost and want to see my art over there, then please like and/or follow stuff there so I know where people are that want to see my art there. That way I know where to focus my efforts because I sadly only have so much energy/time to port stuff over. New stuff isn't so bad. I think that will end up on all three platforms. But for prioritizing old art, that will depend on where folks are.
For Bluesky, I've learned about Feeds so now I have Twitter like moments for my art by AU and by fandom (only TWEWY atm) and I've learned that I can make a feed that goes across the entire site! So I've also made a basic Feed for TWEWY/NTWEWY tagged posts that I believe any user should be able to follow as well! You can find it by searching for Feeds in BSky or under my profile.
Regarding if new art will be posted here - I don't know. Maybe for a while as I move stuff, but I honestly I have even less time and motivation to make art from all of this. I am prioritizing my streams for drawing time so I can make time for myself but outside of that, not so much right now.
Blog Update
So for those that don't know, I primarily post my art on Tumblr first. It's been my art archive for so long that it gets priority, and I have a bigger base here, and the archive system is nice. However, it's been brought to my attention that they may start doing AI nonsense so I'm going to focus on making sure I have back up archive on pillowfort account (gramophoneturtle) so if I need to stop posting on Tumblr, I don't have to start from scratch.
When Twitter went downhill with it's AI policies I removed all my art there. However, because of how Tumblr works, I will probably keep my art here. Since once it's reblogged, and maybe once they have the unprotected works in their databases, they already have access to it.
I don't remember if pillowfort still needs registration keys but I have a some I can hand out if people need them.
I picked pillowfort because they only other sites I looked at were mastodon & bluesky (both are not really long blog post sites for comics, for example) and cohost (which...didn't sound reassuring at the time. Never looked into what posting options they had). If there are other alternatives, let me know.
I'm hoping the Tumblr user base can fight back on this idea out but, it might be like Tumblr Live where it gets pushed out and only after a year or an overwhelming amount of backlash and loss do they remove it.
#update#blog update#tumblr#pillowfort#bluesky#cohost#social media#woooooo fun times#edit: made a cohost post to a) show that yes i do have an account there and#b) because i've seen a few artists move over there from tumblr so i guess i might as well give it a shot for other tumblr options

{ This Blog Is Now Closed }
This time for good, I'm sorry but I'm just completely done with tumblr, the crappy updates here, the endless bot invasion which tumblr can't seem to fix, the constant push to make users pay for merely existing here and so on... But most importantly because now there actually is a better option for us Sims players in Simblr.cc so I'm moving there fully.
Please respect my TOU, while I might not be here I still exist in this community you know?
You can still find me at:
Simblr.cc <- The main place now
GoS (Profile, Updates thread, Uploads at GoS)
Discord, I use name "digisims" there and you can mainly find me at Sims 2 Shenanigans, Chill Sims Chat, GoS server and Simscord servers. (+few others so if you see someone called digi on some Sims related server it's very likely me)
Wordpress (mainly a back up of all the content I've posted)
Pillowfort (occasionally mirroring posts there too but it's mostly just a backup now.)
So long and thanks for all the fish.
#blog update#closing time#as said I don't expect anyone to follow me to simblr.cc#but that's where you'll find any new content I may post so maybe check it occasionally if you want new stuff from me

So I've been seeing a lot of folks talking about moving to Cohost.
Particularly artistic/creative types. So please, everyone, read the terms of service. This is a literal section of their ToS
that's really, really iffy at best. But a vast majority of social media sites will say that you still own your content.
Please consider pillowfort. Please consider Blue Sky. Their ToS do not have a clause like that in there, and do actively say that you still own all content that you post. (At least last I checked.
Blue Sky does mention using user content for making improvements/changes to their app and AT Protocol, and they also mention modifying user content in-so-far as resizing and distributing it to other folks on the app. But that is waaaay less iffy and way more informative of what they do with your content than cohost's ToS.
And yes, there is a chance cohost means it in the same way as Blue Sky, but they don't exactly word it as such and that sort of muddles the whole "you own the content you post here" thing.)
Adding this addendum from my reblog so people maybe see it on the original post, because the original didn't state the entirety of my worry:
I think what worried me is that unlike on Bluesky and Pillowfort, Cohost does not have the line that says "You keep ownership of your content." and just the agreement to the license itself. Cohost only says that you must have the rights/permission to post the content that you do post, and then they go into their spiel about the license of how they can use and redistribute your content.
While both Pillowfort and Bluesky do say you still exclusively own your content.
Pillowfort: "Pillowfort shall not lay claim to ownership of any content submitted by any member or user."
Bluesky: "You keep your ownership of Your User Content, subject to the license below. Bluesky does not own rights to your User Content except as provided in that license."
Which, Cohost should definitely add a line saying the same because it would remove liability from them, and explicitly state that people still own their IP (plus the "irrevocable" placed into the line about the "royalty free, perpetual, etc" when it comes to their license to use and distribute user content is somewhat worrisome... especially if someone wanted to delete their account and have their content removed)

Well, I've been terminated again. I'm not going to try and fuck around with these jerks if I can't get it resolved. It took over 6 weeks for them to get back to me on my original blog, and they just repeated the same bullshit about explicit images. I'm moving to my Pillowfort account: https://www.pillowfort.social/pookiestheone in the interim, and it will likely be my final stop.

hi Ked! hope the snakewatching is going well. I've been meaning to ask, because I know you've been writing fanfiction for quite a while: do you ever feel as though community engagement has trended down over the years? and if so, do you have any advice for fighting the feeling that you're wasting your time/energy for a silent audience that just consumes and moves on?
I think it has, but I think it hasn't. But I think our perspective on it has changed, vastly.
The thing is, fandom back in the day was just plain old smaller and more tightly-knit by necessity. Before the net was so big, spaces we could go were limited, mostly fan-controlled, often difficult to find, sometimes clunky to use if you were learning (waving at IRC, hello, I hate you still), and due to all of this were often just... smaller. You could know MOST of the people in a fandom space. You had some degree of genial relationship with readers because you talked to them. Archives outside of ff.net were common, curated spaces with amounts of fic that were relatively consumable in total, as in you could go to a fan-run archive, read every piece of fiction there, and then have to find a new one, which probably had at least some of the same fic on it. Even ff.net, a lot of the fandoms present in the early days it was just like. you had 20 fics, you had 100 fics, whatever the number was, and because the spaces were small and the population online was smaller than now, there just... weren't enough creators to constantly have access to new fic or art. I remember waiting for archives to update their collections because most of them you couldn't just add your work to yourself. And I remember that the best way to encourage that to happen faster was to go and get the creator worked up/excited about their thing again by talking to them about it.
Now, fandom is easily accessible. Now, there are platforms all over the place. If you don't like the section of fandom you're in, it's easy to find another, even within the same platform. Don't like this part of tumblr? Block some people and follow others. Don't like this discord server? leave and join a different one (or make one). Don't like twitter/instagram/tiktok/tumblr/livejournal/wattpad/pillowfort/whatever the fuck other platform? Try a different one!
I am grateful for this sprawl. I'm grateful for fandom being easy for everyone to access, for it being so much easier to find somewhere you can settle and have others who like things you like. I think everyone should have a home.
But that does mean sometimes fandom spreads thin. It does mean that instead of 100 creators, there could be a thousand. There could be two thousand. And instead of one place to find it all, there's a gabillion.
But... the amount of story and art a single human being is physically capable of finding and interacting with (reading, viewing, commenting on etc) hasn't gone up. I can only read at the pace I read at, same for anyone. The fandom I'm in has created AT LEAST 29,000 works in the last 11 months, on one platform (AO3). That's almost 90 fics a day for 11 months. And I know for a fact that not all of the stuff that's been written gets posted there, that's just the stuff I KNOW for SURE has been written since a specific date because I searched a character tag for a character that didn't exist before a certain date.
I don't know about you, but I'm not Readers Georg. I can't engage with every fic in a fandom anymore. I can't even engage with a tenth of the fic in fandom anymore just to purely read it, and by the time I'm done reading one, there's 7 more to take its place.
So, I don't think engagement has trended downward so much as I think it's spread out as fandom spreads out. I think it's more important now than it was before, to try to actively engage with creators, because of this. And I think it's important for creators to try to engage back, too. But I also know it's impossible to go back to how things were, and impossible to make a large fandom behave the way a small fandom did. I also also know that if you ever go into a small fandom, like a rarepair, you will almost certainly see an echo of the past with regards to engagement. I wrote a couple things for small fandoms more recently, and because they have far, far less fic available, they seemed to comment more on what was there. They engaged in community ways, going back and forth in comments instead of just "good job""thanks" the end. they have more time for it. A small enough fandom may go days or weeks without new fic, leaving them time to do those sorts of things, without the fear they're missing out on one of today's 90+ fics.
I can't offer any kind of quick fix, because I don't think it's necessarily broken. But I can say that you should always try to be the change you want to see. When you read something, leave the kind of comment you'd want to get. There's another fic around the corner, yes, but you can't read 90+ fics a day for 11 months straight. And neither can anyone else, and remembering that might put it into perspective.
If you want community, read the OTHER COMMENTS when you read stuff, and engage with the other readers; if anything, THAT is the major missing factor in this day... readers engaging each other over fan creations, rather than just creator-> consumer or consumer-> creator. The most fun i ever had writing on AO3 was when I was writing Siren's Song and readers started talking to each other in the comments about what would happen. A whole little community sprung up around readers talking to each other about what happened after one of my other fics ended. I think that's a missing element that often goes unspoken, and maybe that could help a lot if you feel like the audience is silent. Maybe they are. Maybe they don't know it's okay to talk to each other, too. Go into the audience and make some noise.
#fanfiction#writing#reading#also not for nothing but#try to write mostly for yourself#I see a lot of people pick up every stray idea they find#and write them all#or to pick just idea they think will get a lot of response#I couldn't do that#if I pick up a story#it's because it is consuming my entire heart and soul#or it's charity work#or it's for a specific person I love dearly#that's it#and at that point it's not about what anyone does or says in response#it's about shutting it up so I can live my life#or make one specific person happy#so all that matters is what that one specific person thinks and says#asks#anon asks

I don't really think Tumblr is about to vanish down the drain. But backups and alternatives aren't a bad idea.
I've seen people talking about Dreamwidth, and that's a great thing. It's built on the LiveJournal code, so it's familiar if you were on LJ, and I wish more people used it.
But DW isn't much like Tumblr. It's a different format and works in a different way. The closest Tumblr analogue I know of is still Pillowfort.
Pillowfort is sort of a cross between DW and Tumblr. A lot of its features are similar to DW, but it has reblogging capabilities like Tumblr. I don't use it much right now myself, but I can see how it works. It has tags, communities, blocking.
Pillowfort itself is at risk, since it hasn't gotten quite the support it needs to sustain itself, but if people move from Tumblr to Pillowfort or even just choose it as a backup, it should steady out.
I don't think folks should rush to abandon Tumblr. It's still chugging along. But both DW and Pillowfort are worth a look if you want an alternative.

Weekend links
My posts
Mostly resting, to be honest; had a bad pain week and then I got a flu shot (and timed it so I could spend Saturday sleeping it off).
However, there were Grammy nominations on Friday, and I am very pleased that The Age of Pleasure is up for Best Album (and Best Progressive R&B Album, it looks like). I wrote (briefly) about my favorite Janelle Monáe songs back when the album came out this summer, if you'd like to listen to those:
"Cold War"
"Make the Bus"
"Violet Stars Happy Hunting!!!"
"We Were Rock and Roll"
"Don't Judge Me"
"Know Better"

Oh, wait, I did post something this week--a poll about which song you most associate with the Go-Go's. (The second highest result, "I have never heard one single Go," is what I wanted to measure: if you're within the reach of something I might write, what can I assume that you know?) Looks like the poll ends on Monday, so there's still time to weigh in on that.
Reblogs of interest
There was a Traditional Tumblr Scare earlier this week; you can find that under #the happenings, my "oh holy fuck why is social media crumbling into the sea again" tag, but here is the main explanation of the leaked memo. Short version: official word went out that they might actually get rid of Tumblr Live, and all the ewoks celebrated.
I have been around long enough to see multiple Tumblr Is Fucked scares, yes, but also, this was not the year to play with my nerves. Obviously I'm staying here, and I was already paying for ad-free, but I'll be dusting my Dreamwidth off as a mirror for the big posts. And I've already been using Patreon as a "get it here early" hub/archive for a month or so now. I am just not getting caught off guard again like I was when dipshit took over Twitter last November.
Pillowfort, meanwhile, actually is in financial trouble.

Moving to Pillowfort
For the past few days, I'm thinking about moving to Pillowfort completely. I won't delete this account of course, it will stay up. This will work as the archive for my past stories that you can look back if you need catching up.
I will continue reblogging for CC (perhaps), and continue reading the stories I'm following. The next stories I will upload, it's going to be on Pillowfort. Yes, even the last queued posts in The Life of a Hatcher. Gen 2 of the Davis Legacy Universe will be there instead. As the new segment, Beneath, is still quite new, I will move them there as well.
I don't think opting out of the AI stuff would be enough. I think it's merely a suggestion to the AI companies, and they would ignore it instead of opting the user out of it.
I don't want them scraping my work. I know my work consists of Sims, but Sims helps visualize my story. I'm protective of my stories, because it came from me. I made it, I didn't type down keywords and asked AI to write the rest for me. It is the work of my imagination.
You might think that all the written stuff I've done is not the best for you, but to me, it is. They're the proudest works of mine.
So, if you're also on Pillowfort, feel free to follow me. This is my account.
I will come back completely if and only if Tumblr stops the AI crap and protect its users from it.
