Writer Tag
Thank you so much for tagging me @venus-haze! As always, your responses on this were really interesting and got me thinking about my answers. (Here's the original post.)
So these first questions are geared toward Ao3 stories.
How many works do you have on AO3? 48 and counting.
What's your total AO3 word count? Aw geez. According to the statistics page, 1,022,400.
(But I have more fics listed in Tumblr thanks to headcanons and things not yet posted in Ao3.)
What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
Every Loyalty - (Jon Snow x OC)
And So It Goes - (Butcher x OC)
Never Say Goodbye - (Dean Winchester x Reader)
Break Me Down - (OC Version | Soldier Boy x OC)
Checkerboard - (Soldier Boy x Reader)
Do you respond to comments? Why or why not? Yes! Always. I love getting feedback and engaging with the people who take the time to read my work. 💜
What's the fic you've written with the angstiest ending? Ooh, it's gotta be this imagine in SPN fandom: "Sam crosses the line." In which he's in love with Dean's girlfriend.
(Sequel to "You are Dean's one exception.")
What the fic you've written with the happiest ending? Well, most of my stories have happy endings. But probably Never Say Goodbye (Dean W. x Reader). It's a soulmate AU, so very rom-com and fluffy, despite all the drama they went through.
Though I could also say the same of the last story in the Midnight Espresso-verse: In Bad Weather.
Do you write crossovers? No, I don't. I've enjoyed reading a few though.
Have you ever received hate on a fic? Yes, unfortunately lol. It's inevitable for as long as I've been writing though.
Do you write smut? If so, what kind? Oh yes lol. I'm a romantic though, so it's often a mix of fluff, straight up romance, occasionally dashed with angst and/or hurt/comfort.
Have you ever had a fic stolen? Not to my knowledge. (I hope not!)
Have you ever had a fic translated? Nope, but I've received solicitations lol.
Have you ever co-written a fic before? Yeah, when I was a teenager just starting out writing, I used to write with one of my best friends growing up. (We're still good friends to this day.)
What's your all-time favorite ship? That's pretty much impossible. 🤣 It depends on the fandom! Nowadays I tend to write for OCs or reader inserts though.
What's a WIP that you want to finish but don't think you ever will? Ooof, nothing recent. But I finally finished And So It Goes, which took me 3 years for some reason. 🙃
Though I do have both a Jason Teague x OC series and a Smallville Clark Kent x OC series outlined that realistically, I probably won't get to. 💔
What are your writing strengths? I've been told I'm good at dialogue and keeping canon characters in character, which is always amazing to hear! I try my best.
What are your writing weaknesses? Action scenes and smut scenes are my biggest writing challenges, though I've been told I do a decent job at them. I know I tend to use adverbs a lot lol (I'm trying to curb that).
What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic? So I try to minimize use of this, but, I've gotten critiqued (putting it mildly) on this before for two reasons. Admittedly, I've had to revise myself in certain use cases, but also, there are slang words and phrases in certain Spanish cultures that wouldn't make sense to another Hispanic/Latino culture that doesn't use the word/phrase. So sometimes, it's not that it's wrong grammatically, but that it's slang.
What was the first fandom you wrote for? Oh jeezus, probably Chronicles of Narnia fandom when I was like, 10 and brand new to writing. 😂
What's a fandom/ship you haven't written for yet but want to? Ooh a tough one. I feel like there are so many! I do have a story I had outline years ago now for Steve Rogers/Captain America back in the MCU fandom (which I've written in before). But that fandom is a bit intimidating. 😂
What's your favorite fic you've written? Also really tough for me. I think it's a tie between two series:
Break Me Down (Soldier Boy x Reader)
Midnight Espresso (Dean W. x Plus-Sized Latina!Reader)
One totally took me by surprise by how much I enjoyed writing the series and the characters (and figuring out how to write Soldier Boy/Ben 😂).
While the other allowed me to be a little more indulgent with myself, writing from my personal experience and my culture.
The responses on both stories have been amazing and incredibly heartwarming. 💗

Writer Asks
Thank you so much for tagging me @yletylyf @demonscantgothere @theriverwild @thrillofhope and @coraleethroughthelookingglass! Feeling the love! (and finally finding the time to do this haha :P)
How many works do you have on AO3? 17!
What's your total AO3 words count? 225,854 (the most I've ever written in a year in my LIFE)
What fandoms do you write for? The Rings of Power. But starting to dabble in general Tolkienverse/Legendarium.
What are your top five fics by kudos? - Your Blood, Your Power - Made the Pieces Part of Me - I Felt It Too - The Blacksmith - Barred
Do you respond to comments? Why or why not? Always (unless in a rare couple cases when I've had some odd or negative ones.) I think engaging with the readers is super important, and I love when I comment on other author's fics and they respond to me, so I happily do the same!
What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? Hmmm that's a tough question. Probably my first piece 'I Felt It Too', even though I write a kiss into the infamous log scene, it still doesn't end happily for Haladriel. Feels!
What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? I'd say maybe 'Shake Like the Bough of a Willow Tree' because it's a version of Haladriel's first time together and it ends with them just being happy and in love.
Do you get hate on fics? So far I've been lucky to only receive two hateful comments (they weren't really hateful just misunderstood and harsh) on one of my fics. Basically they disagreed with something I made the 'reader' do in The Blacksmith and felt inclined to let me know. Was an interesting experience.
Do you write smut? If so, what kind? Oh yes I write smut haha. I mostly write het smut but have written a little f/f and m/m stuff as well. The Blacksmith even has a m/f/f threesome in it! I don't mind writing darker stuff either, so you'll typically find blood, biting, and choking kinks in my smut too.
Do you write crossovers? If so, what's the craziest one you've written? I don't yet write crossovers but I may dabble down the line. Never say never! My latest fic 'And Horror And Madness Walked' is sorta a crossover/mashup between TROP and The Silm, so that's as close as I've gotten.
Have you ever had a fic stolen? Not to my knowledge, nope.
Have you ever had a fic translated? Nope but totally open to it if someone ever wants to!
Have you ever co-written a fic before? No I haven't, but if I ever did, I know exactly who I'd do it with - my partner in crime @pursuitseternal ❤️
What's your all time favourite ship? Definitely Haladriel/Saurondriel. No ship has EVER compelled me to write so much.
What's a WIP you want to finish, but doubt you ever will? I have a Galadriel x Female Reader fic called 'Ensnared' I started a few months back that got put to the side when 'Your Blood, Your Power' took off. I would love to go back to it, mostly because I had a lot of fun writing the Gal x Fem Reader pairing in 'The Blacksmith', but I don't know when I will if ever. Hopefully one day.
What are your writing strengths? Twists! haha. I love a good twist and have been told I'm quite good at writing them. I also write poetry so any chance I get to write more poetic sounding prose I absolutely love.
What are your writing weaknesses? Sometimes I think my vocab needs expanding. Thesaurus.com is my best friend haha. I have a habit of reusing words I think. Also planning my fics. I need to get better at planning my fics. Somehow lol.
Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic? The only instance I believe of me ever doing so was using some elvish in 'The Blacksmith'. That was fun. I love the creativity of using different languages in your story, it really helps with the immersion.
First fandom you wrote for? It was never published of course, but when I was in early high school I wrote (and never finished) two Harry Potter reader insert fics. What I would give to read them back now hahaha. Bless 14 year old me.
Favourite fic you've ever written? Oh boy this is tough... it has to be The Blacksmith. Only because I'm so proud of what I achieved with that story. The longest thing I've ever written (102k) and complete with twists and turns that I cannot even believe I conceived and wrote. Plus the response I got from those that read it was so damn nice and I still think about some of the reactions I got on it. And I literally have made friends for life because I wrote and posted that story. It changed EVERYTHING for me. I'm so proud of it and so thankful it exists. Tagging (apologies if you've already done it): @pursuitseternal @heronamedhawks @gil-galadhwen @scriberated @youwearfinethingswellwriter @somebirdortheother @ichabodjane @klynnvakarian @90shaladriel @hazelmaines @myrsinemezzo @nenyabusiness @tmwillson3 @jhalya @hikarielizabethbloom

7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
All the rest??? i don't really know which would have the happiest ending. It's mostly one shots in there so it's all a little snap shot and they're all pretty happy.

Thankfully, not so far. Love that for me.

The reviews are: writing shit head teenage boys
17. What are your writing weaknesses?

20. Favorite fic you've written?
It's probably a tie between Fish Tales: Tradition and Family Histories and Tattooing 101: We Don’t Lick Our Clients (Without Consent) for me right now. But I love a lot more of them. Even looking through the titles for this thing I was like AWWWW so good, love you, and all that

hi jess!!!! 2, 5, 6, and 11 for the positivity ask game 👀🩷
Hi Jay! Thanks for the ask 🤍
I answered 2 here already, but I've not answered the other three yet!
5. What song do you associate with a specific character?
Hello Summer by Danielle Bradbery for Tom because it's the song that inspired and the day after that, too.
6. What's your favorite part of being in this fandom?
The people I talk to daily and/or often! I wouldn't be apart of the fandom if not for them. I left the fandom in 2019 (was only in it a short while) and came back when S4 was released.
11. What's something that lives in your brain rent-free and you want everyone to know about the fandom/game/your fanworks?
So my fanworks... Lol I would say I'm super strange when it comes to my boys: Hamish and Tom. Hamish, I'd read anything and accept it because I feel like there are so many different versions of him, but Tom, I wouldn't. Like in my head, there's only one way to characterize him (even though we get so little in the game) and I'm picky about how he's written. So I guess you'd want to know that even though I'm probably more known as the Hamish girlie now, I'm more protective of Tom than Hamish in my fics/other works, but that's probably because I was the first person to write him and make him a full character so I'm attached to him almost as an OC.

Got any new fic recs to share? 👀 Much appreciated ❤️
I'm not a fan of genderbender fics usually - because a lot of them just change the gender of a character so that something is now gay or het just Because and don't really do much to change the person's backstory/thoughts/personalities (if that makes sense? I'm not saying that a character has to change in personality, but their life is different because the world would see that character differently and thus react differently. The most obvious being a female character feeling more pressure to marry, have children, etc.). Anyways, this genderbender fic has some of the best character development and growth I've ever seen??? I literally cried, tears dripping down my face, reading this thing because oh boy oh boy did I feel all the emotions of the narrator. Everything was just so three dimensional, even all the facets of love that was described. Like come for the Liujiu, stay for the explorations of Luo Binghe's complex and Issues. (And OG!Shang Qinghua too.) I FELT SO MANY THINGS while reading make sure i die first by pennydaniels so GO GO GO.
In that same vein, reading female!Tywin Lannister and seeing how so many things change with Tywin being female and how many things don't change is so... exhilarating? A Lioness Still Has Claws by WickedTheRedHorse
for all those pages thumbed by Star_flaming could be a whole ass standalone romance movie on its own - the worldbuilding is just so good. The developing relationship is so detailed and deep and honestly it feels sort of like a modern version of uhhhh Jane Eyre - well, as much as Argus Filch can be a Jane Eyre lol. It still all fits within Harry Potter canon which makes this even better. Also you just gotta appreciate it when Filch is written in such a relatable way. He's got a phD in art conservatorship, is underpaid, and gets ignored by people who Don't Appreciate The Things That He Does.
You like misunderstandings right? You should, considering you are on my tumblr blog. So if you want to see Gojo come to all the wrong conclusions and generates a whole ass world ending conspiracy theory that he convinces so many people to be true... you got to read this yesterday: helping the world via murder, a guide by your local reformed terrorist by RK7200 Also JJK X Naruto crossovers are fun period.
If you read The King's Avatar, check out this gemstone in the fandom: Autumn Empire by EmpressFiend. We love getting a younger and older version of the protagonist running around, pretending to be brothers, as they decimate the competition.
Okay, here's my first warning, don't read this author if you don't like being baited with the MOST amazing premise and idea and then be left hanging without only 1 chapter to satisfy yourself. This author is very much the embodiment of "shine brightly but live a short life" if we are talking about how their fics get updated lolololol. I'm going to tell you though, reading about Kakashi and Orochimaru getting tossed to Tatooine is worth it: here i am coming, with the good news of me, and you hate it by QuenchiestCactusJuice99
Happy reading!

I've been wanting to ask you this for a while, what do you think of the season finale? And who do you think is at fault? And how would you have written that fanfic you said you'd write in a post?
hi i finally have access to my laptop & have had a chance to clear my head enough to get around to answering this!! first off THANK YOU for asking bcus this is the kind of thing i could talk about for hours lol so let's get into it.
i think the s4 finale was a godawful ooc mess of poor writing & forced drama. even as just a season finale it's bad but as a SERIES finale?? worst series finale of all time and i say that as a fan of supernatural lmao.
in terms of who's at fault, this might not be the answer you want to hear but personally i felt like for a significant part of s4 (ESPECIALLY the finale) the characters were so ooc that my brain isn't able to engage with who's at fault in a watsonian/in universe way - the only ones i can see as at fault for all the bullshit that goes down are THE WRITERS because the characters started acting in ways that completely contradicted everything we knew about them.
quick sidebar from the characters to add that i feel like it was stupid to go for yet another version of the whole "team breaks up then reconciles" thing because they had already done that before.. although never with that big a split, so i guess it had the potential to be compelling if the spit hadn't felt so forced & if we had actually gotten a s5 to watch them reconcile.
pretty much everyone felt out of character to me in the finale but ESPECIALLY walter, paige, and sly. oh and FLORENCE it absolutely didn't make any sense for her to develop feelings for walter & that's not just the part of me who had hoped she would end up with sly talking.
the arguments and drama just felt so forced and unnatural like, you're really telling me the same walter who said to sly "your refusal to let go of the wonderment of childhood, how you look at the world with open eyes, your innocence is your brilliance, and anyone who tries to tell you any different is dead wrong" in a christmas car roll said in the finale "if you were a real man instead of a comic book reading baby boy you would’ve asked florence out ages ago"??? it does NOT make sense & i see no explanation for it other than poor writing & the writers trying to just force a conflict.
in earlier seasons it felt like when there was conflict between characters it MEANT something, it made sense with their characters, & it was satisfying to watch how it played out. an example sticking w the walter/sly dynamic for now - when sly was afraid to tell walter he was dating megan & walter was upset when he found out, only for it to turn out that walter was upset because he was worried about sly getting hurt and not because he didn't think he was good enough for megan like sly was worried about. THAT was conflict that's actually GOOD and MAKES SENSE, not some bullshit that doesn't fit with the characters we know and love like the finale split.
getting back to ooc moments in the finale tho - walter was totally justified to call out sly for bringing megan into the whole mess, but like sly would never do that in the first place?? i was floored that they had him bring up megan like that it was honestly disrespectful sly and megan. i remember in my liveblog while watching the finale i literally said "were the writers on crack" regarding that part and i still stand by that lmfao. they really just shit on sly's character to throw more drama into this mess.
i have to talk about paige as well here... in early seasons i always loved paige & felt like she got a lot of undue hate from the fandom in back then but come season 4 i can definitely see where some of that negativity was coming from. imo part of what made her go downhill was her already established negative traits coming out more often (like from the beginning paige has always had a tendency towards jealousness, pettiness, & idk if i should call it internalized misogyny or the writer's misogyny showing through her (like the "we should give it to a scent tracking dog who specializes in finding sluts" directed at stella in s2)) so those things i can fault paige the character for in the finale. even if i wish they hadn't chosen to exaggerate those traits, they do align with paige as we've seen her at her worst.
what i do fault the writers for completely wrt paige is how just like, mean they made her for no reason? and mean towards walter that just don't make sense when compared to how she acted with him in the past. watching paige go off on walter saying shit like "I wanna go to the beach without hearing marine biology facts or go to dinner without hearing about the inefficiency of putting parsley on the plate" had me feeling like who IS this woman and what did you do with paige? it didn't make any sense for her to be so frustrated with always having to do "genius stuff" and wanting to just do "normal stuff" sometimes when they had already known each other for years before they started dating, so like what exactly did you expect? their relationship was SUPPOSED to be grounded on the fact that while she wanted to help walter better himself, she loved him and understood him, and accepted his genius traits in a way no other non-genius really had before. but then throughout all of s4 it felt a lot more like paige was trying to change walter and turn him into someone she wanted him to be than it felt like she actually loved him for who he was.
of course to some extent paige was always working to change walter i mean, that was basically her job description, but in early seasons it never felt like she wanted to change him so much, or so selfishly, or in ways that weren't just to help him be more well-adjusted without actually changing him fundamentally. s4 largely left me feeling like what happened to the paige that wanted walter to be the best version of himself he could be while also embracing himself and everything that made him different? where's the paige who ordered fermented fish? my feelings about waige at this point are basically "they were one of the most ships of all time until they actually started dating, then it all went downhill". they had so much potential as a couple but the writers kept fucking it up & the finale was the ultimate fuck up on that front.
i don't really have many issues with walter's characterization in the finale other than what i've gone over already in this post but one thing that consistently frustrated me with his late seasons writing was how the writers would just let him stagnate. we'd have a whole episode about walter learning a specific lesson then episodes later he'd be acting exactly like he was before he'd learned said lesson. it felt like SUCH a disservice to his character especially with all the growth we'd seen from him in earlier seasons.
to name just one example - looking at a christmas car roll as an episode i love it & it's a very fun watch (despite the fact that to me it marks the point where the season starts going downhill because of the stupid dream that everyone made way too big a deal about lol) but it didn't really feel like it fit with season 4? it's something that really would've felt more at home in season 1 or 2. "walter learns to appreciate his team" is already a lesson that's been learned multiple times by now, it doesn't make any sense for him to even be in a place where he NEEDS to be relearning this lesson in s4. he should've been far past that but it's like the writers never allowed most of his character development to stick long term. i wish s4 had allowed him more room for actual growth instead of the same lessons repeated over & over again - it felt like he was more developed in earlier seasons & the writers brought him backwards which is such a waste of potential with him.
anyway that's enough about that because this is getting long & a bit off topic from the finale itself but i kind of had to go into my thoughts on s4 in general since they shape my thoughts on the finale so much lol. as far as fic, i had a few vague ideas planned about something with a canon-divergent retelling of the events of s4 tackling a lot of the things i mentioned above.
the most fleshed out idea i'd had in mind tho was one that, for the most part, stuck w the canon of s4 & still had the team split into scorpion 2.0 and centipede with the same people choosing the same sides. the idea started purely out of spite lmao in my mind i had to prove to the writers that ok, you really need the team divided? here's how to do that while writing it in a way that made sense, keeping the post split-teams the same, and WITHOUT fucking up everyone's characterizations. i never really wrote a rough draft but did come up with a bunch of bullet points and a kind of general outline for what i had in mind:
-paige is still upset with walter because yes - she can be petty irrational and jealous. so i'd let her get a little jealous, but i'd cut all of the stuff about "not wanting to do genius stuff all the time" and "emotionally you'll never be more than 16". basically i'd allow her to be jealous & petty but cut all the meanness & the end goal would be for her to actually ADDRESS her pettiness and jealousy by the time they reconcile.
so they would still break up but it would be partially about the jealousy and partially paige being upset/disappointed about walter lying more than anything else. instead of thinking that he'lll never mature emotionally, she'd feel like he isn't mature enough to handle their relationship yet. once we get to the part where the team/waige reconcile it can be based on both walter gaining some more perspective (i don't want it to sound like put all the blame on him here or anything - paige did a pretty shit job explaining the whole white lies thing and was pretty hypocritical about it but i blame that more on the writers trying to force drama than on her) and paige working on her issues too, especially jealousy. so by the time they get back together they're both more mature & prepared to be in a relationship with each other. i'd like to have him write her another love song & have him sing it for her right before they get back together.
-sly still gets rejected by florence & some part of him still blames walter but much less so than in canon. i'd get rid of all the "you made her fall in love with you/you stole her from me" nonsense and make it more like he's projecting his own issues with self worth onto being upset with walter. considering his primary arc throughout the season was around his self worth, what am i really doing with my life, will i ever find some after megan, etc, it would make sense for him to take the rejection poorly and lash out but not so much out of direct jealousy towards walter but more in a sense that he feels overshadowed by him, and envious of the fact that walter has paige while he doesn't have anyone.
the aftermath/reconciliation arc i imagine for sly would be more about finding his own sense of self worth without feeling like he necessarily needs to "find someone". but then i think i'd still have him find someone anyway because it'd be nice and he deserves it. as much as i shipped him and florence during early s4 i don't think i'd have it be her, more likely i'd invent a character for this.
-florence isn't romantically interested in sly OR walter. she sticks with walter on scorpion 2.0 purely because they're friends and they work well together (this would probably be something paige gets EXTREMELY jealous about & would be one of the things she spends a lot of time working through.) also because it'd be pretty awkward to join centipede after turning down sly. i never really figured out what i'd do with her after that, i feel like we didn't really get enough info in s4 about florence as a character rather than just like, florence as a plot device/source of drama. to be fair it's been a while since i last watched s4 but even looking through my old notes i don't have anything about like an arc i'd like to see for florence so i feel like i'm remembering correctly & there's just not a whole lot to go on.
i also wasn't able to come up with any reasonings for toby & happy to leave that i'm truly satisfied with lol. all throughout s4 i was just waiting for them to decide to adopt WAY sooner because i mean. it's the OBVIOUS choice for happy & absolutely ridiculous that they jumped through so many hoops & did all these fertility treatments. should NOT have taken her so long to realize she wanted to adopt.
if it were up to me i would've had happy decide she wanted to adopt as soon as she decided she wanted kids. so in this scenario maybe i'd have them already with an adopted kid & they decide to leave & be part of centipede because they're just stressed out from all of the drama. i don't feel like there's much i'd need to change with cabe here, it's obvious he'd stand by walter.
i was never able to really wrap my brain around ralph in this scenario maybe bcus i'm not good with kids lol but i was LIVID that they just left him out of the finale completely when he should've been one of the most important characters to take into consideration for something like this?? yes obviously ralph has grown up a lot since s1 but when the team split in the past how it would impact ralph was ALWAYS a big thing that was taken into account. he wanted paige & walter to get together so badly, he always wanted walter to be his dad (personally i always thought it was kind of dumb how that stuff was written - imo walter WAS his dad from early on. he doesn't have to be dating paige to be ralph's dad. the found family show needn't be so beholden to the nuclear family but that's a whole 'nother post!) and they just did not include him in the episode or even bring him up.
anyway this post kind of got away from me but that's pretty much the gist of my thoughts on the finale & what i would have done differently!

Hi! What are your thoughts on “Dragons: The Nine Realms” based on what we’ve seen so far? I have very mixed emotions, on one hand it’s great to introduce new people to the franchise and revive the fandom, but on the other hand.. I’ve long since accepted the ending to the franchise, and if we got more content modern day HTTYD is not what I had in mind. Also the animation looks like something straight out of School of Dragons lol.
So when I saw the trailer and read the synopsis for the first time, I felt... nothing? But that might also be because I had a very icky no good very bad day healthwise today, and in feeling like crap, I didn't have the emotional capacity to respond to anything else around me. So this isn't knocking on The Nine Realms at all. I want to make that clear! XD (also: I am much improved healthwise now, yeehaw)
In fact, I think that if this had come out five years ago, when I was more emotionally invested in HTTYD as a hyperfixation, I would have had levels of interest and optimism. The idea has potential. They could make something legitimately interesting out of this. I know that in the past I have wondered if someone like Cressida Cowell would consider putting a HTTYD series in more recent times or the modern day. The idea of HTTYD, with the unique array of dragons and how they interact with the world, is more than flexible and productive enough to be written in different time periods and different parts of the globe, and I think that's hella awesome of it. If you can expand a franchise with various forms of creativity, why not?
This doesn't step on any toes regarding Hiccup's journey and it's a cool way of continuing the franchise while staying out of a story that's complete (which Hiccup's journey is). If you'd written something directly after Hiccup, like something with Zephyr and Nuffink, I'd question your decisions, because that would feel too close off the tail of major events like the dragons leaving in THW. If you wanted to write adventures about those kids with dragons, that'd be stepping on toes to me. But 1,300 years later? Yeah, sure, let's see what happens when the dragons of the Hidden World get rediscovered. I wouldn't be surprised if they slipped in Easter Eggs of our favorite Viking dragon riders, like finding the dragon info pages Hiccup wrote, other memorabilia, things like that, to connect us to the past and maybe get a glimpse of what teenaged or adult versions of them did. I don't need the show to do something like that, but franchises are gonna franchise, and I wouldn't be surprised if they thought adding something Easter Eggy would appeal to their fanbase.
I'm quite willing to get emotionally invested in an all-new, unrelated cast of characters (though watch: main!boy is related to Hiccup or something ;) ;) ;) ). I think the premise could be fun. I imagine the execution level of said premise will be about on par as Race to the Edge, and you know what? I'm fine with that also. If it's at least RTTE quality, it's an enjoyable watch.
But to repeat something you've said: I've long since accepted the end of the franchise. I'm not opposed to more material if it's done with intelligent boundaries respectful of prior HTTYD storytelling, which this premise qualifies for, but emotionally speaking, I've had and done my investment in HTTYD. I've moved onto enjoying other things. My life is never going to be consumed with HTTYD analysis after HTTYD analysis again, and I'm happy with that. My heart doesn't yearn for new HTTYD content.
So the way I feel about it is a casual, "Hey, sure, why not. Write this right and have fun, and don't do this as a cheap franchise cash grab, and you have my thumbs up. But this is going to be me rooting on those fans who are still more emotionally invested in the DreamWorks Dragons world for whom the content will be more.... relevant(?).... to their lives."
The one thing that makes me sigh is the main character riding a Night Fury-esque creature. Feels uninspired and cliché. Also this would have been a perfect chance to have a female lead and we didn’t do that, jussayin’.
Will I watch it when it comes out? I mean... pending on fandom responses being mixed to positive... yes.

What fandoms are you in? It seems you are in a lot!
Right now I'm only really active in Supernatural fandom, and that's mostly to keep my hyperfixation intact.
I'm also in Walker fandom, but the fixation isn't as high (yet?)
But some recent (last 5ish years) fandoms I've "collected" (read: not creating content or reading fanfiction, but interested in posts/sometimes searching out non-fic content) are: Hannibal, The Boys, Invincible, The Office, Community, SPOP, Fear Street, Stranger Things, Twin Peaks, and an extreme interest in 911 though I haven't watched it yet. I guess MCU can be on this list because seeing people's Loki posts has brought that up again.
Older fandoms in my collection, all of which I've read fanfiction for:
Black Butler
Count Cain + Godchild
Sherlock (uh all incarnations, I guess. Black Butler actually got me to read the books lol and then the RDJ movie came out❤)
Merlin (BBC Merlin in particular but I've read a LOT of Merlin books and just love him)
Doctor Who (I only count nu-Who because, despite wanting to, I haven't seen much of the original run)
Lord of the Rings
Star Trek TOS
Hawaii 5-0 (the new one)
Fullmetal Alchemist (ALL versions, but manga supremacy)
Rurouni Kenshin/Samurai X
Angel Sanctuary
Outlaw Star
Cowboy Bebop
Neon Genesis Evangelion
One Piece
Teen Titans (the original animated series)
Young Justice (animated, though I read some of the comics)
Batman/Nightwing in general (it's been AWHILE since I was up to date)
Invader Zim (I actually started a fic for this but didn't get very far past the title--which, FOR ONCE, shot itself into my brain first thing)
South Park (started a fic for this, too, but didn't get far)
Hikaru no Go (have several fic outlines but none actually got written)
Death Note (manga; the only thing I know about the anime is the music was good and my daughter didn't finish it)
Hunter x Hunter
Bleach
D. Gray-man
Soul Eater
Wolf's Rain
Last Exile
Loveless
Ouran High School Host Club
Fruits Basket (manga supremacy)
NANA (i never finished it but I love unrequited tension between nana and hachi-type fic)
...I know I'm forgetting a lot here lol
Fandoms in my collection that I mostly just want GIFs and non-fic fanworks for:
Anything Studio Ghibli, but especially Spirited Away, Howl's Moving Castle, and My Neighbor Totoro
Star Wars
Akira
X-Men
Deadpool
Fandoms I was once active in (participated in weekly discussions and/or wrote fanfiction):
Naruto, Katekyoshi Hitman Reborn, Glee, Prince of Tennis, Gravitation, Inuyasha & Yu Yu Hakusho (no Oxford comma needed--it's a crossover (and it's dead)), The Beatles (there's probably no way to find what I wrote now and that's for the best since I was 14)
Uhh... and I have a handful of webcomics I still remember that I was obsessed over and still hoard like precious little pretties:
Friendly Hostility and everything else by Sandra Fuhr, Gunnerkrigg Court, Questionable Content, Dreamless, uhhh..one I can't remember the name of that featured main character pretty boys that turned into a snake and gecko and the gecko had a secret journal that named the comic but for the LIFE of me I can't remember it, and another one that..I think was by Space Jones (author of Vampirates webcomic '05-'06) or their friend that was part of the sugarskull collab..anyway it was a western and one of the main characters was a marxist obsessed with blowing up train tracks
This is an incomplete, but more relevant I hope, list. I got tired of formatting this on mobile lol. Hope it's readable.

Reiiii hi! for the fanfic writer ask game, since you asked me questions J, A, Y, I will ask you R, E, I hehe (if you haven't been asked them already!) <3
Hello my 小妹妹 hehe tysm for sending me stuff!! ✨
R: Which writers (fanfic or otherwise) do you consider the biggest influence on you and your writing?
SFHJLHASA tbh I don't really read from a lot of people because I'm very picky with what I read and how the writers write hahahaha. And also, I don't think reading from certain writers influenced my writing in anyway too!!
Yup there are some writers that I really like, but I don't let their writing style influence me because I don't want people to see what I write and find it too similar to someone else's, and then our works end up getting compared. And also, I fear that people would think I'm copying other people so I try not to let others' writing affect me too much!
Honestly when I write, I feel like I'm just doing how I like it to be: Describing things, feelings and what reader and Levi 'sees', lots of narrating and description, and a good mix of dialogues haha. I'm very boring I hope no one is getting influenced by my crappy writing style LOL.
E: What character do you identify with most?  Is there a certain fic of yours that captures these qualities particularly well?
Well I only write for Levi so I guess he's the one I resonate with the most haha. I find Eren really nice to write for too, I had so much fun writing those kiss drabbles for him 🤭 well they're my favourites so... I guess I'm biased haha.
I only have like a few canon Levi writing, but I guess I wrote him kinda canon in 'For The First Time'. And if we're talking about modern au Levi... maaaaaaaybe Levi in 'Take it Slow' and 'Letting Go' 😂I apologise they're all not sfw works LOL, but yup. These are some versions of Levi I wrote that I really liked and feel it fits his character hehe.
I: How many fandoms have you written in?  Do you have a favorite?
Officially? Just SNK haha. But if you're talking about allllll the little things I've written since a long time ago even though I did not post them, then it's five: SNK / KNY / BTS / EXO / Final Fantasy VIII.
And obviously the only one I write for now is SNK and very specifically Levi hehe but I really wanna write and post my Rengoku Kyoujurou x OC stories. I even have like 10 (?) chapters of it written already haha. Guess you all will have to wait till I'm done revamping my KNY blog (it's @/breathof-flames) before I ever post it hehe.
Also I wrote a BTS vhope fic titled 'Sunflower Boy' for J-Hope's birthday in 2016 lmao it's the first piece of writing I ever posted and omg, I have a love-hate relationship with it. It's cute and I love it but I cringe all the time haha because I wrote fem!maknae line in the high school au lol. If you ever read it.... please do not judge me :x
Fanfic writer ask meme!
