It’s beyond obvious that you are supposed to root for Team Black. Like it or not, they are the protagonists and Team Green are the antagonists. Rhaenyra was usurped because of misogyny. You are supposed to see the injustice in that, THAT is the entire message of the dance in Fire and Blood.

And in my previous post, I literally explained why both teams are not “morally grey,” because Team Black is majority CHILDREN. Jace is NOT normally grey. Baela, Rhaena, Luke, Rhaenys, Cregan Stark, Black Aly, etc ARE NOT MORALLY GREY CHARACTERS. THEY are the characters you are so clearly *supposed* to root for. Now do you have to? No, obviously not because people are always going to have different opinions and not everyone likes the *good* characters. Just like Jon, Dany, and Robb from GOT have haters, so do these characters.

But you cannot sit here and call the entire Team Black morally grey when they’ve never been canonically described that way. It doesn’t matter whether you watch the show or read the books, majority of Team Black expect for Daemon, Rhaenyra, and Corlys will never commit the level of atrocities that Team Green does. And even then, what Rhaenyra and Corlys have done in the books and will do in the show will STILL never compare to some of the things TG do.

Daemon (and Dalton Greyjoy though he’s not a major player) are probably the only two characters that can be interpreted as evil/morally grey. The rest are not. They are not equal to TG whatsoever!

It never stops surprising me that reading comprehension levels aren't a thing anymore. It's always when I come across someone who reads the same thing I did that i have to wonder like did they not learn subtext in reading? It's like we have lost the art of comprehension here...

The reason I say that is because at no point has Tim M said that Buddie is dead or that it wasn't happening. he said not "RIGHT NOW". The words RIGHT NOW were right there, even in what they copied from the interview. (Right now, it could mean as little of a time frame as for when the interview was completed, but it would also mean not this season.) When in the history of the english language (which i will be the first admit is whack as heck) has right now ever meant never? The fact that he felt the need to say it and it was emphasized typically means something. What we don't know, but obviously, it's important. He also clearly states that Both Eddie and Buck are going to be exploring themselves. He makes a point to say that Eddie's journey isn't the same one and that they will be exploring it. Again, why mention that if it's off the table completely. Tim goes further and says he is letting the characters take them where they will. Nothing about that says no to me. It says give me some time to explore this and see where the actors are and how this pans out.

Tim, Oliver, Lou, and Ryan have all said in various ways that both actors that play Tommy and Marisol aren't sticking around long term. Sure something couldnt have changed but Even the leaks hint at that. So yeah, rewrites have probably happened (hoping they did a major one decreasing "Marisol's" time just because the actor has been disturbing in their hate.), but even if not right now, pretty much everyone has said our duo will get closer. honestly i’ve recently been brainworming about how even though carmen’s colour is obviously red, in LC her speech box is blue??? both the memories of carmen and angela are just his interpretation of her… i love how on the surface its a hint for the player that they are connected but if you dig deeper it is one of the main reasons he failed w angela!! he only ever knew the version of carmen that existed in his own head, he could never replicate her in her entirety, angela is blue just like his carmen, but his carmen is flawed by design…….

SORRY IF I ANSWER LATE SINCE THIS ASK MAKE ME SIT DOWN AND THINK(TM) A BIT but here are my thoughts on them though it super long and super incoherent since I dont know how to necessary connect points smoothly

On the topic of color coding I actually did talk with my friends a lot on how Carmen's color or at least one that has big impression on Ayin or an indication to their relationship or connection are all red but I didn't know if I was reading too deep in it

For example:

• her eyes

•The red hairband that is said in the artbook to be a present from A

• Bloodbath

And to specifically talk about Bloodbath it is also how Angela offered the manager champagne which resembles the color of her eyes after one of your employee presumably died which is an obvious call back to that one specific passage in Bloodbath but the alcohol that was used in the past scenario was red wine which is the color of Carmen's eyes. I personally interpret this scene as Angela venting her own frustration and despair at the presumingly oblivious manager in the form of her mocking his own sad little story as well

That along with you can see how each sephirot and even including Angela has their own specific color coded letter box that fits their own respective theme while Carmen's is blue which like you said signify her connection to Carmen despite her character color theme have little to do with it and Ayin's color box is red despite his primary color being black and white (additionally I thinks that the way the characters are color coded in LC have to do with their association with respective sephirot in the tree of life in Kabbalah as well but I have not read many researches on this so I cant say for sure im qualified to speak on this topic)

And another thing of the fact that after Angela escaped from her role from lc in lor you actually don't get to see any red accessories or clothing pieces on main her design anymore being not only the red hair band is gone but also the red tie and the red shoes is also a very interesting detail to me and again as seen

Into the question of Ayin failed with Angela in like, if I understand your question right, is on his attempt to actually create an AI of Carmen out of nothing I personally think that no matter what kind of perception Ayin had of Carmen (though I do agree that it played a part in it) he would still end up with the same type of failed sentient AI because what stopping him from making said AI was not only his own comprehension of Carmen's character but also because he personally view the act itself as something inherently disgusting and morally reprehensible. Abram talking about the making of Sephirot which is the closest to an Angela's creation something only a sick twisted person would do in the main story and Ayin's monolog in Snow Queen saying that Carmen would have been disgusted by him knowing he would do this which indicate that he personally see the act itself as disgusting too. Despite him saying him feeling no guilt here player with full context of the game can immediately deduce like yeah, he was like actively lying to himself about the fact that he feels no guilt in the narration because the whole game is him lying making up scenario for himself in favor of an ultra realization for completion of Carmen's life dream and him being unsure and lying about everything he feels which I personally think would effect his decision in making Angela as well as literally everything he does

There are many reasons for Ayin to make Angela like That and I have my own personal interpretation of How Ayin Views Carmen personally since many things be affecting his view on her I agree with you but also don't know if you can pinpoint it as the Exact Main Reason to why he failed since not only was he flawed in perceiving Carmen he is flawed in being like, a Committed person along with him being actually very emotionally perceptive of people that he rather just look away from them for his own personal comfort by actively lying to himself about the reality in which he experience along with many other thing

hi there! ive always loved your history posts, and was wondering if you had any insights/directions you could point me in to learn more about a specific area of queer history?

im personally most well-read on the history of gay men in britain between the labouchere amendment and ww2, so a pretty specific area. i dont know very much at all about the history of queer women, though id think its harder to get primary sources for them as the legal records wouldnt exist in the same way?

anyway, my main question is actually about cross-gender solidarity. i notice that a lot of the men i read about operated in very gender segregated spaces, which was typical for the era anyway and ofc there are plenty of spaces today where gay men want to be with other gay men exclusively. i suppose im wondering if there's any way of investigating how much queer men in the past would have felt solidarity with queer women, and how to look at whether/how those sentiments changed over time?

i realise this is a bit more of a "how to do history" question than about history proper - any insight or thoughts you'd like to share about this would also be really appreciated! and in either case, hope you're having a great week xx

Second, the difficulty of doing premodern queer history largely or exclusively from legal documents is that a) it gives us a distorted version of what degree of prejudice actually existed in society, on a practical and not just theoretical level, and b) it makes it even more difficult (if not impossible) to speculate on what people "really" felt, thought, or personally identified. (I currently have a book chapter about John/Eleanor Rykener in the peer-review process, which touches on some of this difficulty, since our only major source in that case is also a legal record.) We are very rarely granted direct access to the actual voices or perspectives of premodern queer people, and if it's filtered through a hostile framework that has an interest in minimizing that person's existence and/or social experience, it provides an even more excessively or solely negative picture than is probably at all the case.

However, I would gently challenge your idea that it's harder to get primary sources on queer women, since the assumption is that premodern queer men are only memorialized by their (presumably punitive) encounters with the legal system, and that society cared less about female homosexuality and thus did not attempt to police it in the same way. Both ideas have some degree of truth, but not entirely and certainly not categorically, and there are many ways to access premodern queer experience and memorialization. I don't know what particular time/region you're interested in, but since you said Britain, I will once more recommend checking out the website of gay British historian Rictor Norton. He has everything, and I mean everything, you could possibly want as a resource/starting point (his specialty is 18th-20th century British LGBT history):

i have such a very unpopular opinion. but have you seen pretty little liars? if not, the show is about four girls who try to figure out the source of anonymous threats messages that attempts against their lives. it even has a criminal storyline going one. one of them, spencer hastings, SHE EVEN SHARES HIS NAME is the smartest one and has a similar storyline to reid. i even believe that her character was inspired by reid.

she dresses like this preppy academy girl, has high iq and she even struggles with her own addiction (sleeping pills) that leads her to having anxiety and other psychological things. she makes more sense than maeve trying to be spencer. if a crossover ever happened to exist in some random universe, i’m constantly asking myself how would spencer deal with someone like hastings, or even fall in love with them because it’s so easy and relatable.

reid was the first male character i could relate to because you know, male gaze. and men in comparison to women don’t face the same amount of pressure when it comes about intelligence quotient which is why i’m always seeking comfort in female characters. specially, smart ones because i feel the same. personally speaking, in dating, i also rely on smart men rather than ‘average’ men which is also what i seek when it comes about intimacy/sexual intimacy. for me it’s not about the looks anymore.

i first learned about hastings before reid and fell in love with her because i relate to her so much, for me it’s about our psychological struggles and our tendency to use our iq to hide our vulnerability which makes it so real because we are so fucked up that we will always choose to hide that side of us to normal people. sorry for my rambling, but i needed to get that out.

as for the iq stuff you are so so right. for a long time i based my self worth on my iq and being “gifted” until i realized it was actually completely meaningless and other people thinking i was smart would do nothing for me in the end. but it was the only thing i had to feel good about myself bc i was NOT attractive in middle school/early high school and i was pretty socially awkward so i made myself feel better by thinking about how much smarter than everyone else i was all the time but as you can probably imagine that actually did NOTHING for me except make me feel further isolated and also rlly amped up my narcissistic defensive tendencies!! which was not good!!! (to clarify i am not a narcissist😭 but in my early teenage years i was definitely developing narcissistic QUALITIES)

and then i realized i was failing all my classes anyway and i couldn’t retain any information and i was a fast reader but had absolutely NO reading comprehension. like couldn’t remember the sentence i had LITERALLY just read. and then i got evaluated and diagnosed w adhd which like thank god for medication because im FINALLY capable of learning again but my point is that intelligence is sooo complex and abstract and essentially a empty signifier that means different things to different people. it’s a terrible thing to base your self worth on because it can fluctuate too, and also speaking directly about iq—there is a threshold with iq where if you get above a certain number of standard deviations of average you are actually predicted to be less successful than people with lower iq’s. iq is much less important than we think it is. it’s about what you DO with your potential, not the amount of sheer potential you have

i was actually thinking about that recently cause like?? spencer reid is obviously a rare case and exceptional in every measure BUT a big part of his genius is just his personality. like there are people with eidetic memories and staggeringly high iq’s who do absolutely nothing with their lives and work in offices or construction or something. and obviously he’s fictional but i think that aspect of his character is so interesting because it speaks so much to who he is a person like he never was inherently going to be so intelligent, he had a lot of potential, but it was more due to his desire to learn and his childhood and probably approval seeking but i digress

Hey there! My advice to you is to do plenty of research - but don't worry, I'm here to help you out with that! Personally, I'm more of a book person myself and tend to doze off during movies, but I can give you a great starting point. You could begin by googling a list of movie or book characters who are also movie enthusiasts. One example I can give you is Stiles Stilinski from Teen Wolf, but there are plenty of others out there to inspire you!

As I go through this post, I just want to clarify that when you said "film," you meant "movie," right? Just want to make sure we're on the same page! But if you did mean "film" in the more technical sense, then there is a difference between the two, but don't worry - my advice still applies! The only thing is that the suggested websites I mentioned are more geared towards movies than films, so keep that in mind.

the red is the original screenshot. my phone reached the screenshot limit before i could get the whole post in and there was still a screen and a half left. im guessing the additions since have at least doubled it. it is not possible to address every single detail, and sometimes people writing things have to take it on faith the audience will understand the difference between glossing over something because you don't have time to go fully into it and it's not super relevant to your actual point beyond as context, and glossing over something because if you explained it fully it would reveal that you're lying. i did my best to address everything as comprehensively as i could without going off on unrelated tangents and it STILL turned out that long, if i truly addressed every detail here i would basically just be writing a book, and if so i would like some book writing money.

luckily though, this isn't a book, which means if you can't tell Why i skipped over something without giving it the time it deserves, you can just ask! internet discourse encourages a trend of block first ask questions never, and while there certainly are times where that is the best route to take, you can also sometimes just be like. "hey man, what did you mean by this?" could even throw in a "i'm reading it as (x) but that seems uncharitable and wouldnt follow with the rest of the politics you espouse here so i figured i'd double check" if you're feeling spicy. by which i just mean yknow. if you think they might be the kind of person who wants to know when their words come across a way they didn't intend.

also, focus in on that part about "that seems uncharitable and doesn't follow with the rest of your politics" - part of critical thinking if you're unsure what someone means and don't have the ability to ask is coming up with MULTIPLE possible meanings, then holding those up against everything else they've said to see which one fits in with the others. obviously sometimes you will have people who are Mostly Progressive with that One Single Bigotry They Just Can't Shake, but by and large if someone is Mostly saying good stuff and then says one unclear-maybe-bad-maybe-good-depending-on-how-you-read-it thing, there's a good chance it was just poor wording. and on the flip side, if someone has lied to you many times in one short post, that should give you reason to question the intent behind why certain things were omitted and what narrative those omissions create. don't just question what's being said, question why they chose to say it the way they did.

if you're asking something other than who would i hate if not dennis, sorry for answering wrong (though the amount that i wrote should qualify my answer as wrong no matter what). i did three reading comprehension tasks total throughout my entire education, and received feedback on none of them. i went completely off the rails so skip to blue, bold text if you just want the real answer

THE ANSWER:

-must of course be contextualised with the fact that when it comes to dennis, i am untethered and my rage knows no bounds. no amount of hate for any other person would substantiate. the runner-up for my-most-hated would compare to dennis as athlete's foot compares to gangrene. having established this, we can move on to establishing why i am dragging my answer out so much. it is because i crave human contact, yet i seem to dislike anyone close to me. the internet provides me with scraps of impersonal human contact that leave me oblivious to the real person, the human behind that interaction. this allows me to feel comfortable enjoying an interaction without convincing myself that i hate the other person. how can i hate someone i do not know? excellent setup! i feast like a starving lion. i suppose that with this in mind, i might claim that if not dennis, i could hate myself the most. but im assuming that we're talking sunny characters here.

it's hard to understand how i feel about the other characters, because i hold my affections about them while aware that they are obviously horrible people.

my mind jumped to dee first, seeing as she shares a lot of the same qualities that make me hate dennis. the most glaring example being that they are rapists. seeing a pattern of this trait in TWINS makes me a little sad though. it shows that what caused this probably had something to do with their parents. the fact that dennis is worse than dee can probably be attributed to his getting raped by the school librarian or whatever it was, as well as how differently their parents treated him on account of his being male. i think some patriarchally motivated power issues stem from that treatment, you can see how he acts out around women in this way (as if i have to explain). anyway dee would make sense as a solid contender. by default ill add her parents to the ring since im blaming them for making her the way that she is.

... im not a huge cricket fan. sure he has his funny moments which i adore, but that is much the same as the reynolds twins. i didnt love him before his decline/the development of his drug addiction, weakness and catholicism repulse me. (HALF JOKE. SORRY. sorry.) i say that he is weak due to his susceptibility to manipulation (a trait he shares with dennis- a man who was tricked into digging up his dead mother 'for gold')- by dee. she wasnt even in her milf era at the time and he left the whole church without even seeing a ring... ok :|. girlie travelled to a bar full of people who bullied and sexually assaulted him to check out a water stain :/ PLEASE. anyway then there's the drug abuse which was actually fairly slay i dont take issue with that. he got better and more acceptable after that in my mind.

Fic talk

Currently resisting the urge to post the first few chapters of 'cots' (i think im going to use q different acronym after i actually post it).

Ive mentioned a million times before how when i posted ihiap i was going through some shit and i needed a source of dopamine and random strangers on the internet praisingnyour writing and characters is such a wonderful source of dopamine.

But ihiap was all very impulsive and i didnt know what the plot is until like chapter 30 of the first book and i love it sm but i also hate it with a burnjng passion like its ridiculous. Theres so many plot holes and details that dont make sense and events that are just really dumb and that i regret sm. like i really love ihiap as a plot and chatacters and themes and relationships and such but 17 year old me just wasnt doing it justice.

Another thing about ihiap is that its the first long project ive done. Like ive made so many short stories and snippets of longer projects but ihiap is the first time i like, worked out a plot and character development and such. There was so many different things that i didnt realize i didnt know how to do until ihiap. For example balancing side characters and main characters and main plots vs side plots. Also pacing. Also characterization. But since i learned more about that stuff im more confident in it. Like everything i hate about ihiap i did because of inexpierience and stuff. Obviously fanfic is just a fun hobby and not anything serious so it really isnt that deep. But like PEOPLE STILL READ THAT SHIT STOP ITA!!!

this post is definetly following my whole "make a post about cots and then talk about ihiap most of the time" thing.

Anywho, because of that stuff im much more confident in cots and that ill actually be able to tell the story in a morenput together and comprehensible way. So im very excited about it.

But i think im.overcompensating a lot. Like i refuse to post this until i have every last detail plotted and written down. No plot holes nothing.

Cots is actually based on an ihiap au that i plotted out an actual (non fanfic) story for and then redid it again to get cots. So like an alternative universe of an alternate universe of an alternate universe of atla.

Sokkas the "main" protagonist in it but the first book is zuko centric more so. The second book is sokka centric and the third book is both.

But (like i said) sokkas the protagonist, zukos probably the deuteragonist and azula, katara, and aang are all tritagonists.

Azula is somehow the most put together one in the series.

But its a mix of a lot of different tropes. (The swt and zuko trope ofc is there its my favorite) but its a lot more complex than ihiap.

Everything is a lot more complex than ihiap actually. Like i cant figure this shit out.

Some ihiap ocs are making an appearance (not nankin) (the more backroundish ones) and theyre always fun.

I really love my ocs and i think its really funny how theyre simutaneously my most critisized and praised things about ihiap.

Cots has been something ive been working on for about a year now 💀💀 and im really hoping to get it put out by the end of the year but well see

Julia Del Vecchio-- Readerly Exploration #1

Main Idea: Ch 2: Reading and writing are constructive, meaning making processes. Ch 6: The ability to read and write accurately, quickly, and with expression (known as fluency) can be developed through instruction, guided practice, and independent reading and writing.

Nuggets: While reading chapter 2, so many things stuck out to me. First, I remember reading The Giver and I absolutely loved that book! I liked the Mini Lesson to come up with literary opposites because all I could think about is how it would be such a great opportunity to learn from my students! Secondly, I remember a readers theatre performance that we did in 6th or 7th grade after reading the story of Esperanza Rising. The girls did their own play with costume changes and everything and the boys did their own; it was hilarious! Lastly, the point about using computers to write was interesting to me. I never used computers in middle school to write papers, it was always by hand. I think using a computer would be much easier, but I would also miss the traditional, old school sense of using a pencil and paper. Sadly, I do believe there are many downsides to technology for children these days. In chapter 6, i appreciated the section on prosody. It is no question that expression and phrasing play a huge part in understanding the meaning of the author. I would be interested in reading more about how to build students skills in this area.

Readerly exploration and habit: Reflect on the contributions of reading experiences to reader identity in an effort to better articulate who he or she is as a reader: Based on your successes and struggles reading this text, write down two or three goals for yourself as a reader for your next reading assignment.

As I was reading, I was reflecting on how I really struggle to read textbooks like this. I’m glad that this is an option for a readerly habit and I think it will be a good one to start with this semester because it will get me thinking about how I can get the most out of these readings. I have never been the best at reading comprehension and it is hard to focus or be engaged when the readings are pages and pages of information. I don’t find that I retain most of it unless I am taking copious notes which takes hours, and it feels like wasted time. Sometimes the big picture is hard for me to pick out and so I read and overthink every sentence to try to see where it might fit into a big picture theme or main idea when I should just read through the whole text.

For my next reading assignment in a textbook like this, my goals are to:

Begin to make a list of things from the textbook that I actually want to incorporate in my future classroom– I think this will give me a lot more motivation to read and I will take more practical content from the book

Weed out the things that aren’t as important– If I am struggling to read a section and I’m not attaching any meaning to the words while reading over them, then its time to move on to a section which I can actually grow from to make better use of my time and keep my engagement with the text (I can return to the section im struggling with later) 

Either workout before reading, or read in the morning so that I can focus better/be more productive when I set out to read for long periods of time

I think this reflection was helpful in my understanding of this week's readings because it is (hopefully) a large step in becoming a better reader which is what this reading was all about. Just by setting reading goals for myself, I was able to connect more with the intent of the author of this literacy textbook. They obviously dedicated much time and effort to giving teachers more knowledge, and organized steps/systems to help make their students better readers (like explaining in detail the 5 steps of reading and writing in chapter 2, and supporting fluency development in chapter 6).

So first off, I never clarified what my diagnosis was and that was on purpose. I intentionally left my wording vague because my diagnosis is literally no ones business, and Im glad I did because of the sheer number of asks Ive gotten trying to tell me Im a bad person because of various personality disorders that I dont even have. Sociopath isn't in the dsm-5, it is however a term that's been heavily reclaimed in low/no empathy circles, it's one that I heavily identify with, and I will use it if I so please. Even if I didn't reclaim it, the number of times I've been called a sociopath when all I said was I don't feel empathy is staggering, so I'm stuck with it either way.

Second off, the level of aggression in both your replies and in this ask are not appreciated. How do you read a positivity post in such an incredibly bad faith way? Why are you coming after people with antisocial personality disorder when these are real people with real emotions who are just trying to live their life? And where is this "I can excuse npd, but aspd is crossing a line" coming from? Just because you support one "bad person disease" and not another doesn't make you an ally, it just makes you ableist.

That post is so obviously not about people who do horrible things, it's about people who are just trying to live their life, who work towards bettering themselves and being a good person, and who get beat down anyway because they've been assigned the "horrible person" label despite their actions. Literally nothing in that post says that you can be a shitty person if you have the excuse of having a disorder, and if you saw that literally anywhere you need to work on your reading comprehension skills.
