Jaskier’s face is very flushed, and he has that look on his face, the very sappy one. “Oh no.”

“What?”

Geralt nearly finds it funny.

“But that’s terrible,” Jaskier says, seriously. “Does that make me a toxic man? If I can only tell you if I’m tipsy?”

Hohenheim doesn't know what to do.

Edward and Alphonse are nothing like the children he'd left behind. Edward is an adult, and Alphonse is nearly one, and they're - no alchemist has impressed him in a long time, but his children do, as much as they terrify him.

They're alchemists trained by the Dwarf in the Flask. Of course their power is as great as it is horrifying.

Alphonse is the softer of his children, but when Hohenheim manages to corner him for a few minutes alone, his eyes go cold and dismissive at his pleading to not trust everything he's taught.

"You think Father taught us alchemy?" he scoffs and Hohenheim can't keep himself from flinching every time they refer to the Dwarf in the Flask that way. "He doesn't use alchemy like we do. What can he possibly teach us?"

He hadn't been expecting that. "Then how did you learn?"

Al's lip curls back nearly into a sneer before he smooths his expression back out. "You left all your books behind. What did you expect us to do?"

His books? He hadn't had any introductory texts, nothing that children could have learned from, as if children were able to learn alchemy at all -

"You really don't know us at all," he says, and there's disappointment mixed in with the anger. "I was too young when you left, maybe, but you should have noticed that Brother was a genius. Mom had. Did you even mean to have children?"

"Alphonse," he starts, but then Edward is calling his brother's name, and his son turns away from him without a backwards glance.

Later, he gets the name Izumi Curtis from Pinako. It raises more questions than it ianswers.

I think at Skyhold, Hanan finally has the feeling of security in which she can possess things that aren't just for survival. Hanan starts to collect rocks she likes. At first she puts them in a little bag until the bag gets too full and practical Cassandra requests a case for them.

Hanan asks Cassandra out first. the amount of time's i've seen that photo of someone on the subway with a giant flower bouquet and went "Hanan" is very funny at this point.

I think the meaning we give life defines us but I also think that the greater machinations of the universe define themselves through a sentience far too complex for us to conceive of.

I am spiritual but not religious. I have inherited cultural practices that form a sort of hodge podge of spirituality that I hope my ancestors feel honored through.

Well, scientifically, we know that energy doesn’t stop, it just changes direction. Our sentience must work the same way. Culturally, I was taught that my ancestors watch over and guide me. Religiously, I was told I either go to heaven or hell based on the modern interpretations of the mistranslated and out of context journal entries of men who lived thousands of years ago. I don’t think we can possibly conceive of what comes next, but I hope that when I take that journey I do so with peace and contentment over what I am leaving behind and exaltation over the adventure ahead.

Happy Storyteller Saturday everyone! This week I’m thinking about Traits and Tropes: What is your favourite character trait to write? What is your favourite trope to write about? How about least favourite trope?

What is your favourite character trait to write? 

It definitely has to be either nervousness or and over critical thinker because I like to create the backstory which has led to them being like this, a past experience with people, places, etc.

What is your favourite trope to write about?

Okay so I’m not entirely sure what a trope is but I have a vague idea. I’d say that my favourite trope is probably when the ‘popular’ character falls in love with the shyer one. I am a bit of a hopeless romantic and do love a good Christmas story or teen romance that ends the same way.

How about least favourite trope?

Umm.. I’m not entirely sure but if I had to say something I would probably say the trope when there is a big transformation of the main character to make another character, usually, fall in love with them. I don’t like the idea of changing yourself to make yourself more appealing to others. The only opinion that matters in this scenario is your own, do it for you and only you. I do also find that this one is a bit overused but some could say that about my favourite trope so.
