So the tags say l4d and I'm gonna be so fr I don't know a lot of the lore, but I do know zombies and that there are special types

I honestly think, theres two kinds of scenarios that can definitely play out and it all depends on if Ingo gets amnesia or not (if we go with the no pokemon theory, therefore Uxie does not exist, BUT there are other ways to get amnesia so we vibing) because there are plenty of scenarios that make sense for random persok to have serious amnesia. If Ingo just, Wakes Up somewhere he definitely would be logical about it and start off with "I must have been injured whilst trying to survive" rather than "I'm from a different fuckikf universe help me"

My first thought is, if he does get amnesia from idk hitting his head or just Arceus being a cunt, then I think he is a very practical man and would adjust accordingly. He would be stressed as fuck, yeah sure. He would be VERY unhappy about having to be more aggressive in his stance on how he approaches situations (and not understand why he feels like there should be somebody else at his side handling more aggressive/threatening scenarios) but, much like in Hisui, he can definitely go from being funny train man so scarily ripped old man who can and Will deal with shit as needed.

I think guns would absolutely be a learning curve, though. He is used to the loudness because of trains, and I personally headcannon Ingo as hard of hearing and that's why he yells so much (which he would also have to learn to control to not alert the zombies in his immediate area) but I still think he is autistic enough to probably not appreciate how loud guns are. I think he would Deal With It but be moderately grumpy about it, I also think he sould probably be a great shot because of how calculating he can be, rather than if Emmet was in the situation where he would just shoot first and think second.

If we were in a situation where Ingo did have his memory though, I genuinely think that woukd be worse in a way?

The entire time he would be trying so hard to get back to Emmet, it would be literally his only goal, right next to not dying. He would probably speak about Emmet a lot, and also regularly use him as his motivation. God forbid he got injured, his only words would be "I can't die here, I need to get back to him, he must be so worried". He would absolutely also likely put his own health above others slightly more than if he had amnesia, because when he cannot clearly remember Emmet he falls back into his protective older brother stance of making sure everyone else is okay first. ESPECIALLY if they are kids, like in Arceus with the player character.

I also think if he ever got returned to Emmet, he would be much more of a changed man than when/if he returns from normal Hisui. Like deeply traumatized type beat. Amnesia or not, returning to a safe place after being in a horrible location that you literally have to kill to survive would do numbers on his mental health. I think he likely would end up very jumpy, with some form of PTSD, maybe even from the guns and would have issues with loud sudden banging noises. I think he would likely require Emmet to straight up be like a service animal (servive sibling? lmao) to keep him company in public so he wouldn't start tweaking. Crowds would probably stress him out, and he'd also probably be much more touch repulsed than before hand, where I imagine Ingo to be neutral to touch while Emmet is deeply touch adverse (minus Ingos touch, obviously)

So the first one is Odd ducks, the fic I wrote for The Sandman, which is pretty normal since the fandom is bigger. After that, only F1, with Let's try something else (sewis fake dating feat Seb and gay panic), A Change of Habits (my lonnnnnnng chewis fic following the 2022 season), Your Crush is Showing (Brocedes, the first long fic I completed. Lots of smut.) and finally, Remember to forget (me), brocedes lewis!amnesia fic. I am very proud of the last one, mostly because it's super angsty and I torture Nico so much in it lmao

5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?

I do, actually, but usually I procrastinate on it, and I took ages. It's just, like, I feel it important to thank everyone for the comments, but it can feel a little repetitive and so I just tend to... Push it back to the next day, again and again. When it's on a multi-chapter fic, I reply before publishing the new chapter usually, but if it's a one-shot or the last chapter... Well. You'll get an answer but god knows when ahah

6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

Oof, that's between Losing it all, a really dark fic about Nico, and Too Late, a bad ending 3344 fic based on Monza 2021 :)

Damn, that's a difficult question, I love writting sappy endings... But actually I think it's the ending of Welcome in the family!

It's a cute fic about Kimi/Tonio/Minttu, and the ending is definitely what I consider one of the happiest, mostly because of a little time-jump that allows to see the future ^^

8. Do you get hate on fics?

I did once, actually, on the 3344 fic I mentionned earlier. I think the person was just a max fan and didn't appreciate the way I make him suffer... I had put the write tags and all, so idk why they clicked on it. Anyway, it was scary and upsetting and I'm glad it only happened once ^^"

Uh, good question? I don't know, I get compliments about the characterisation... But other than that, I like to think I have a pretty good sense of humour and I'm able to make people laugh (or like, I hope. I make myself laugh, which is a good begining)

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?

I like to use petnames in other languages cause petnames always feel more personnal when you use it in your own language. So with the F1 drivers, it's nice cause not all of them are english! I tend to put some German or some French sometimes in my fics for full sentences, but I try not to do it too much. If you don't understand the language, it can be very frustrating.

Nah, actually, I remember very well of my first fic. I was 15, it was two pages long, I was feeling bad about writing a fic in the first place although it didn't involve any romance. I deleted it a few hours after posting it, ahah. It was for the fandom of a french youtube show called Aventures. It's like, people playing a dnd style game, it's pretty cool and I was really into it for a long time.

20. Favourite fic you’ve written?

The fic I love the most of is definitely Up or Down. It's one of my favourite fic I've wrote. It's one of my early work, so it's a little clumsy and far from perfect, but I have good memories of myself writing it. I was in vacation in Rome at the time, alone, and I spent my time wandering in the city and thinking about my fic, it was amazing. And well, the content of the fic is also nice I guess XDDD

when did you watch bad buddy/join the fandom? I watched Bad Buddy in one week, in late October 2022. I owe it to @airenyah honestly. I think I found their blog through an SPN post and clicked over for that reason. In my scrolling, I happened upon a lovely gifset (wish I could recall who made it) of InkPa. It was the scene where they're outside and Pa says anyone taller than her is fine and hops down off the sidewalk. :) Love that scene. Anyway I reblogged it and in the tags was like WHAT IS THIS I MUST WATCH IT. To which airenyah gave me a whole blessed reply telling me the show name, giving a small synopsis/what to expect from my first thai drama & telling me where I could watch it. I immediately watched the series and adored it. I've seen it twice thus far.

favorite character(s): Okay I adore all the main 4 but I'm gonna go with Pran. I love him. There's just something so soft about him and how on earth do his eyes communicate so much?? I think I relate to his messy little overthinking and silently in love brain—very "me the first time i had a queer crush and simply wallowed the whole time bc it was impossible" lol. Also, he's always making the funniest facial expressions which gets me every time. I could go on about everything I like about his character (for instance how clever yet sometimes oblivious he is & how he gets all annoyed lol). Though I do question his sense of interior design and that smiley face obsession.

favorite episode(s) Honestly I'm not certain if I have one?? It's all so good! I do really like their "whoever falls first loses" era though. Wait actually?? My favorite ep might be the early one where Pat thinks he's hitting on the "girl" across the hall and they end up running into each other on the roof. Also both of the beach episodes.

~ The scene where Pat is staying over and he and Pran are lying in the dark, counting down to say in unison whether they have a crush on Ink. Idk I remember that scene having an emotional impact on me. Pran's face??? Then when Pat asks "would you like me?" and Pran says "I hate you" and then he yanks the blanket away but you saw him crying?? ahhhghrhghgh

~ The scene in the darkroom with Ink and Pa. I remember getting so emotional. Pretty sure Pa's dialogue and acting made me cry. "I do [like you being nice to me]. I like it so much that I thought I was special to you." ARE YOU KIDDING ME ASDFGZ. And then Ink says she is special to her!! And it's so sweet!!

~ OH and how could I forget. This should be at the top of the list. I realllly like the scene where Pran stands up to his mom and they have that emotional fight in their front hall. That whole thing is just. AHHHHHH. AHHH. AHIOFJEIOsdJIO. SIJDGRIOGJRIGJORE

Okay so BBS was the first Thai drama I watched. I was still feeling a lot from the SPN-finale/confession scene era (yes that happened 2 years prior but it's SPN okay iykyk) which had me especially sad about and aware of media censorship etc. etc.

On top of that I was still working up the courage to leave this group chat of childhood friends, some of whom liked to complain about media "making everything gay" etc. (Amazing how you can not know people are homophobic for the entirety of your childhood bc the topic just never comes up lol.) Which was of course upsetting to me for multiple reasons. However the universe decided to do something nice and Heartstopper was released. That series felt really huge to me, but after it was over, I was left with this feeling of like... what else is there to watch? Where else will I ever find a queer ship this canon where they're also the main characters?

That's when I came across BBS and it gave me this realization that OH WAIT we aren't limited to western media and OH LOOK there's so many great shows that I didn't even know about!! And they keep making them! Also it was a queer story where the main obstacle wasn't being gay (Plus, Asian leads!!). And BBS itself is just such a standout show. First of all, I love a good comedy and the series made me laugh so much. It's heartfelt but full of ANTICS [like yes lets have fun! Lets not take everything too seriously!], and Pat & Pran & Ink & Pa are just such wonderful and lovable and real feeling characters—who have this lovely friendship too—and the show is just! Such a fun ride. <3 I recall watching the series and feeling like my world just got a little bit bigger. Anyway Bad Buddy goes all in for everything it does and it's such a joy.

Codependency: 0 i don't really care about it? Like it can be a really interesting relationship dynamic, but the tag itself won't necessarily make me click or not click.

Enemies to lovers: 5 I'll click it, but depending on the kinds of enemies. Like school rivals doesn't do it for me but if they both run cafes across the street from each other, I'm into it. Idk. It's very dependent on the other tags.

Enemies With Benefits: -5 i'm really not much of a smut person, honestly, and when I am, I need there to be just a disgusting amount of love and trust between them, so enemies with benefits probably isn't for me, unless there's an enemies to lovers tag involved and the rest of the tags are enticing.

I would like to pretend I'm neutral about age gap but I'm not. I do like age gap in fics a lot, but at the same time, it still needs an additional something to be perfect. On its own, it's good but not a 100 %.

what is your absolute all-time favorite idea you’ve ever had?

what is your favorite part of being a writer? which parts could you take or leave?

oh, god, my absolute favorite part is hanging out in a world I get to create with a bunch of people I like and making them so happy. That sounds very abstract, so I'll say that I love to write dialogue, I love to write a good argument, and I love to write afterglow scenes. I also love whenever a moment happens that makes me love a character I'm writing because then I think, oh, good, it makes sense their love interest will also love them. That doesn't always happen, but usually there's a moment when they click into place in a story. I usually keep writing until I find it, tbh. This is why I write my characters' random interactions in so much detail and seldom fade a conversation to black, because I'm looking for that moment of connection. I see writers sometimes say they don't like writing, they like having written, but I actually really enjoy the writing bit. My favorite thing is when I can clear a day and just sit and write (as long as I'm in the middle of a story that I'm enjoying). I just wish I could do it faster than my fingers let me type. (someone's going to tell me that's what AI is going to do or something)

The parts I could take or leave: editing, which I despise doing so much that I have written whole entire new novels in order to avoid editing, so at least it's productive procrastination; plotting, which I hate so I just never do it hahaha my theory is the characters will do what they want and it will all work out in the end; outlining, which I also never do, because see previous point; writing sex scenes, which just feel like they're so hard to make new (same with kiss scenes, too, tbh); describing things (probably connected to the previous point).

what is your greatest motivation to write/create?

I write the things I want to read, because nobody else wrote them first and so I decide I have to do it.

what do you wish you knew when you first starting out writing?

that it's okay to have your own style and to lean into it, instead of trying to sound like other people and follow "rules" about how writing and stories need to go. There's no such thing as a universal "rule" for writing.

Unless that rule is epithets. Honestly, yeah, the only universal "rule" for writing is avoiding epithets. Unless you're Homer, I guess, so yeah, I guess there really are no universal rules.

absolutely impossible for me to name. It's always the last one I've happened to read. Last night, to keep myself awake until midnight (which is ordinarily way past my bedtime), I read "Keep the Car Running," because someone had just left a comment on it, and I was like, ...wow, this fic is pretty awesome, I did all that plotting????? lol also Arthur is SUPER charming, Idk, I think I knew at the time how much Arthur was my favorite when I was writing Inception but I feel like it REALLY SHOWS hahahaha I think I just always really show which one is my favorite????? do I?????

anyway, yeah, they're all my favorites if I've finished them. If I didn't love them, I didn't finish them.

which of your characters would you say has the most controversial mindset? why do you say so and how do you personally feel about their ideals?

hmm. I don't really know! Oh, you know what comes to remind recently? Patrick in "Next Christmas." When Patrick breaks up with Pete after they get together, I was really worried people wouldn't understand where he was coming from and wouldn't forgive him for it. I worked really hard to justify what he was doing, to make him make sense, and also to make it make sense that Pete would forgive him, that it wouldn't seem ridiculous of Pete to take him back. I wrote that scene in Patrick's apartment several times, trying to get it right. And I wrote the scene on the front steps of Annie's house several times as well. Hopefully it all worked.

@cchapsticck tagged me and given we should have an update on CWSTAU by the end of this month, figured I should post.

1. How many works do you have on AO3?

4 - Most of my work isn't published. I've written a lot but just...not put it out there. I've always been a chicken. However one I archived/deleted and the other is on an account I don't associate with this one, and is on long term hiatus. The other is on someone else's account that will be explained below and just, /gestures.

2. What’s your total AO3 word count?

18,760 (published) but to give ya'll some idea of how much of Conventional Weapons is sitting waiting to be edited/refined, I have 14k sitting in gdocs

3. What fandoms do you write for?

Stranger Things, Danger Days. This is a labor of love towards both fandoms, and when the main CW is done, I have pieces that are going expand with both the characters of ST and DD. Any other non-DD things will go on my other account (not associated here).

4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?

adlfkja only got the one baby. But I'm so thankful for each and every one of those kudos.

5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?

I do! It may not always be coherent or the best comment, but I try to give people some sort of response as they've gone that extra mile to provide me a comment. Every kudo, every comment means so much to me. Seriously, I wrote this expecting an audience of like, 2 people, and knowing so many more are enjoying it means the world to me.

6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

There is a timeloop fic that remains in the drafts that has a horrible ending, but I don't know if it will ever be published. As of right now, no angst endings here. Complicated, messy, but not angst ridden, really.

7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

The ending of Conventional Weapons is already written--its been written for a long time (before the middle parts were even written) and I don't know if it's the happiest ending, but it's the most hopeful.

8. Do you get hate on fics?

Nah, I'm too niche for that lol.

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

Smut with emotion? IDK. There are plans for smut in CW but I think they are going to be 'missing scenes' published after the fact that people can read/not read at their leisure. I enjoy writing it, but it isn't really what this story is about, and I honestly don't feel that it works with the main body of this story. Hence, the "click here to read the sex" aspect of what is going to happen. The 'sequel' things may be more explicit, as they aren't the direct story.

10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?

13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?

While not a traditional co-written piece, @cchapsticck has provided insight that has really helped me move this along, and the key mantra in the fic itself is from them. Their art has also really been important as well. They sell themselves short on their additions, really. Their help, esp early on, in helping me shape the world, means that this fic is what it is now.

15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

Look, the story that's on hiatus may never be finished. And hey, that's okay. I have a few that I've got outlines for, that may never get past that. I'm a slow writer, I always have been. I really dont want to let anything else get rolling until CW is done anyways.

16. What are your writing strengths?

Look I'm going to be honest, I have no fucking idea. I will say I think I'm pretty good at characterization, and I usually feel confident in my choices for the character--in a 'yes they would do this given the situation' and a 'yes they would say that'. Given it's an AU I get more wiggle room, but I feel really strongly about Steve and Eddie's characterization, and I know that not everyone feels the same way I do regarding them--but I'm confident in my character choices in the story. [This goes for my other stories as well but--]

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

I hate writing action. I suck at it, and I try to avoid it, despite evidence to the contrary. Trying to keep track of all the balls in the air is just annoying as hell. Also despite this fic having a real overarching plot, I have really wanted to keep it 'vibes' based more than plot, cause things get to plot heavy and I start to worry I'm a bore. It's where my insecurities start to sneak in, which lets my writing to become a lot weaker in turn.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?

Note: all my statements are assuming you aren't fluent in the language you are trying to write in, and you're a native English speaker. Maybe a word or two is okay? But unless you're fluent, you're gonna make it sound weird. If a character is speaking in German, just say they are speaking in German. Unless it is absoLUTELY important to the narrative that the phrase be in a foreign language, in the fic--do the work to make sure it's correct. Get a native speaker to check it, put in the translation somewhere. But again, ask yourself once, twice, three times if it's necessary.

19. First fandom you wrote for?

I didn't consider it fanfic at the time but I absolutely wrote a 'fix it' chapter for the end of The Great Gatsby for class once lol. That was the beginning.

20. Favorite fic you’ve written?

This one. Again, I know it's niche, but CW is such a labor of love, and means so much to me. It's not perfect, I'm slow going because of school and work, but I've never felt so secure in my own work and felt such joy when I'm working on it.

Okay, I was actually surprised by this! Here are my top five additional tags: Tumblr Prompt (36) Fluff (35) Canon Queer Character of Colour (33) << LOVE YOU TARA LEWIS! Angst (22) Friends to Lovers (9) I did NOT think I had more fluff than angst tbrh! (This doesn't account for things tagged as both, so we're just gonna take this at face value). That really has been the biggest difference in my current writing vs my old stuff. When I first started writing Jemily, I was going through the worst years of my life and that was very clearly reflected in my writing. While now, I'm very contented in life and my writing is much more fluffy. (Even my heavy angst like [i can't be wrong (to be craving you)] is a lot different -- I didn't kill anyone in it!)

13. Are there any tropes you used to like but don’t anymore?

I think I have plenty of old stuff that's jealous love triangle dynamics (JJ/Emily & Will), but I'm too old for jealousy and honestly, I'm far too polyam to write that stuff now. I'll let everyone else write that and I'm just going to keep focusing on writing healthy polyam and open relationships, because we don't have enough fic exploring these type of relationships. I think for me, I'm just done with heternormativity and comhet tomfoolery in fic writing. Even though I exclusively write femslash, in the past I've still written fics that follow a heteronormative relationship. They get together, they move in together, they get engaged, they get married, they have kids, etc. Now I much more prefer to write stories where getting married and 'settling down' aren't the end goal. Because I'm a 35 year old nonbinary queer who doesn't want to ever be married again, nor am I ever having kids, and I want to write stuff that makes other people like me feel represented.

27. How long did it take to write [Fooled Around (and Fell in Love)]? Describe the process.

Fooled Around (Part 1) was a revamp of something I found in my archives that I'd written in 2015. It was basically a Jemily scene-for-scene remake of 'Imagine Me & You' (one of my fave films!). I had already written a few chapters for it but never finished it. I have no idea why the writing spirit returned to me after a seven year retirement, but when I found that in my archives I was struck with inspiration. While I started it by following some of my original ideas, the fic began taking on a life of it's own as soon as Tara was introduced around Ch 8. She was only meant to have a one-night stand with Emily, because this was still very much a Jemily end-game fic....but as soon as Tara/Emily happened, I scrapped my original plans. And that's how the polyamorous theme was born. Part one is 80,000 words... it was written in it's entirety in TEN days. Absolutely gobsmacked to this day. Part 1 originally had an epilogue that hinted at JJ/Emily/Tara forming a throuple (instead of Emily dating each woman individually), but before it was posted I said 'Well, now I want to know how that happened!' And Part 2 was born from that simple question: How did Tara and JJ end up dating each other as well? Part 2 is a bit longer (it was my longest fic to date before 'i can't be wrong', standing at 87,000 words. I wrote all of it in about two weeks. IDK what it is about this AU, but it sort of writes it's self. I let the characters steer the story and don't fret too much about planning, which makes it much easier to write. Currently, I already have 30k+ on Part 3 and it's still barely getting started. I'm really excited to see where this one goes!

ye sure! ao3 may be hard to get used to, but all the "?" in the sections do help a lot, and there's a detailed faq page on ao3, check this one if you have any questions. i'll do one anyway though

first, you'll want to click on the "new work" button here (assuming you already have an account!)

then you'll see this section, we'll gradually get into each one, but for more info you can just click the "?" button

honestly the rating and warnings are a bit of a doozy for me too, but the general ideas behind them are explained in the help buttons. if you've read fics on this website before i think you'd have a foggy understanding of ratings, they aren't too complicated. i really can't explain it any better than the help buttons do, it's just spitballing a lot of the times for me

but! fandoms! i've seen people who list their fandoms in relation to how prevalent they are in a story (ie when you have a mostly, idk, cyberverse-related fic with lots of references, you should put it first), with or without the general tag for all media, that depends, i guess, on the audience you want to attract, or in case some things reference other things from a media. the tags DO auto-fill when you type a few words (be careful about the spellings and wording in general)

categories are pretty linear and expected, dunno how to even describe them. again, the help button helps lmao

relationships is an important part - they can be skipped, but a lot of people browse for specific relationships and not fandoms. i put them in a tier-list of sorts to the importance in the story - similar to that of fandoms. don't overdo it tho! it gets muddy fast (you'll be able to see stuff better once we finish making everything pretty). again, most of this can be auto-filled!!! in case it's very obscure and rare

characters shouldn't be listed wildly - put only the ones you KNOW are important, a tiny cameo may not count, it gets kinda annoying when you look at a character tag but it's just one line (speaking from experience lmao)

additional tags are what people usually call regular tags. you can list a genre, what people could expect beyond a summary, a few popular tags that fit (hurt/comfort, angst, that sort of stuff). don't overdo it tho! ao3 does have a limit, and it's easier for the reader to read short and concise tags. you can see a list of most popular tags here, in case you get stuck

now then! the preface! just learned what it's called and that's pretty cool!

work title is pretty self-explanatory - the name of your story. das it

co-creators are a thing for people who make works with someone else - don't tic it if you aren't doing that (i have no experience so i have no idea how it works)

summary is a short description of your story. shouldn't be too long, but i've seen people do long ones, that's not the topic of this post

notes are the creator's place to yell, tell something cool, promote stuff, whatever. i love to talk to my readers through there, explain some out-of-story context or aus in mind. it's not mandatory and can be totally skipped

this weird stuff

collections and challenges are wacky. i'm not explaining that, there are way more knowledgeable people out there for this section

"gift this work to" is used for... gifting a story to someone! who knew! but for real you just type a username and in the title it would say "(work name) by (username) for (username)", it would appear in the giftee's profile. or something

these other things are... complicated.

i've never filled this cause i never did this, but it seems pretty straight-forward

part of a series is easy! it's like collections but so much simpler. your personal hole to put stuff in. order doesn't usually matter. if you have created a new series, you can put it there, or you can create a series, its literally two buttons

multiple chapters is a thing in case it's not a one-shot. if you don't have an idea about how many chapters there could be, you can just leave it with a question mark. no need to name the chapters, either, they'll just be listed as "chapter 1, chapter 2" etc, or name it whatever you want

haven't used the publication date i have no idea what this magic button does!!!!

choosing a language is mandatory. just pick a language from their list and that's it!

i have no idea how work skins work

privacy is filled unless you're anxious about a guest (an unregistered ao3 user) seeing your work (sorry that's just a description of me. my bad). it's pretty clear though

now, let's get into the m e a t

html version of the text is the one where everything is filled with a command, but it's really complicated and i'm not a programmer, so i always use the rich text version

now, you can write your fic in the ao3 textbox, but if your website crashes - say bye-bye. people write in different apps i'm not listing here, so you can copy the text over and edit there however you please

there are a lot of nuances regarding the text editor, but you can test it yourself with anything, a bunch of things do cool stuff, like italics and bold text that can enrich your writing. i rarely use it for.... reasons (a bit of a ramble but i want my text to convey all these choices without me using them, but sometimes italics help)

the final stretch!

i always preview my works before they get published. period. you never know when an italic messed up your spaces, you forgot to delete a space inbetween paragraphs, and whatever

previewed works go into drafts, which you can publish once you check if everything is a-okay. if you take too long though..... ao3 will think that the date you made the draft is the day you basically published the thing. so be careful with that! don't rush it, but don't leave it for more than a few hours, you'll have to start over. maybe it's a me-only glitch, maybe it's not, i'm not willing to check

and there you go! once you do all that, and you've checked your tags and the text (preferably more than once lmao), you're ready to post it! should take about 5-10 minutes to appear in the tags and fandom. you're all set!

i do hope this was somewhat helpful bc i'm not a tech-savvy person and i just do things my own way. there are a bunch of posts on tumblr to help you post on ao3, so look for those in case there are questions

UPDATE UPDATE UP DATE U P D A A A T E

I'm sobbing with relief, you guys. I've been so stuck on this. I can't believe it took me two months to update. Things were getting better, over the last week or so I managed to write a few sentences here and there, but today it just clicked and I banged out the whole chapter like nobody's business. It feels so good. I don't have the next one written, but I have it outlined, and I have a tentative outline for the rest of the fic--not that we're too near the end, yet. It's just a good sign.

I have some thoughts about the chapter, the fic, and its effect on my mental health, but I have a feeling this will get long so I'm going to put a break. Click if you want to read my rambling about all that, I guess.

Writing this fic ended up being a bigger part of my personal mental health journey than I anticipated, so it's natural that they'd be intertwined. I only wrote it because I was so obsessed with the Suicidal Midoriya Izuku tag I ran out of fics to read and had to make my own. Not exactly "mentally stable" behavior.

If you read Wish I Hadn't Got So Much Better, esp my notes and comments, you know that suicidal ideation is a very real issue for me, both in my past and (surprisingly, like for the Izuku of that story) my present.

I'm not opposed to talking about it, so if anyone wants to chat about that kind of stuff, my DMs and asks are open, seriously, I love talking about mental health and any excuse to talk about myself is welcome. But I won't get into it too much here.

Basically, I was depressed, and dealing with some other physical health issues (TURNS OUT I'VE BEEN BREATHING MOLD FOR MONTHS NO WONDER I'M EXTRA LETHARGIC), and when I started to fall behind on updates, that only exacerbated my anxiety and guilt and, thus, depression.

Something else that came up for me was that I don't totally feel qualified to write about suicide recovery, because I never experienced it in the way I'm writing it.

I basically dumped this on Izuku in Wish I Hadn't Got So Much Better, but essentially, I do have experience with being suicidal, just not the "getting help" part. I do see a psychiatrist for my disorders, but no one ever found out about the suicidal part.

So, like Hizashi and Shouta say in Chapter 13, "Who do I think I am? Why do I think I could take care of a child?" I have no idea what guided recovery looks like, because I did it alone. I kept thinking, what if I'm doing it wrong, what if I'm missing something important, what if people who really had these experiences think I'm taking it lightly?

So that's part of the source for my end note for this chapter--I realized that as long as I'm doing my due diligence, I don't have to feel guilty about getting it wrong, because real people get it wrong too. Also, it's fanfiction, I'm allowed some wiggle room. I've read and loved and recommended fics with far looser basis in reality, and never considered complaining. I'm just a harsher critic of myself than I am of others, as are most people.

On a more technical note, I also struggled with pacing the story. I kept feeling like I was stuck in a real-time pace, and I couldn't figure out how to stop describing literally every action my characters took. How hard is it to zoom out and do a fucking timeskip, for goodness' sake?

For me--very hard, it turns out.

So I kind of gave up, gave myself permission to stop trying. I even stopped reading MHA fics for a little while (no way I could stop reading fics, though). I went back to one of my all-time fave fics, from what might be my favorite anime--Run With the Wind. The fic is Beyond the Wind by kstar2091.

Honestly, I thought my first fic would be in this fandom. I figured it would be a poor homage to this fic, a continuation of canon events finally giving us the romance that had been simmering all 23 episodes. My pfp is best boy Kiyose Haiji for a reason.

Uh oh, that was a bit of a tangent.

My point is, re-reading my fave fic (with delicious new chapters) inspired me, bc kstar is legit VERY GOOD at exactly what I was struggling with--passing a lot of in-story time without sacrificing content or intensity.

So, the little interlude in Izu's POV covering a week or so in the chapter I just posted--that's thanks to kstar2091, Beyond the Wind, and ofc my best boy Haiji. Once I got through that bit, it all started flowing like chocolate sauce at a Golden Corral.

There's a lot of juicy bits upcoming, some of which people have been eagerly awaiting. One of them is obvious. Others, you might hate me for?? But also I hope you'll love them, because you're all screwed up like me.

So yeah, I'm not promising weekly updates anymore, but the juices are flowing, the sun is shining, the mold is blooming in my bedroom, and I'm slowly getting back on my mood stabilizers.

Chapter 3 - an arrangement

„See you on Monday!“ You said with a cheering voice as you left the building. Finally your work was over and now you just had to survive a simple date. In your thoughts this constantly looked like a war where you had to win, but actually it was just having a drink together. Why would he want to meet you? You waited at the front door, when suddenly a black car parked right before you. When the window drove down, you could see Tony, wearing his sunglasses. Slowly he turned his head into your direction, his glasses slowly drifting down his nasal bone, to take a proper look at you.

„Not the kind of clothes I’m used to see, when I go on a… how did you call it again? A ‚date’“ he smirked at you. „I’m sorry, Mr. Stark, my workplace doesn’t allow me to wear slutty outfits, you're usually used to.“ You gave him the friendliest smile and he just shook his head, grinning. Seemed like it was him who gave you the biggest confidence boost, without even noticing. „Would you finally join me? It's getting lonely in here.“ That was, when you got around to sit into the car, right next to him on the back seat. This man had everything he needed, so why would he want to see you again? „Well, Mr. Stark…“ you started. „I hope I don't bore you this time.“ – „Oh, darling, if you only knew how interesting this interview was.“ You cocked an eyebrow at him, not sure if he was serious or just sarcastic. Usually you were able to spot the difference, but this man wasn't the open book he seemed to be. „I see. So we can talk more about your success?“ You asked carefully, trying to figure out where the limits were. „I don’t mind talking about myself, you probably know.“ He was the complete opposite of you. Self-confident and he loved himself more than anyone else. He probably looked into the mirror ten times a day. If you only had the same confidence as him.

He shrugged and looked at you. „I brought you some clothes, if you want to change them.“ Once again you cocked an eyebrow at him. „Would they even fit? Because if that's the case I would call you a stalker, Mr. Stark.“ On his own way he was some kind of a gentleman, but sadly not the typical one you always dreamed of when you were younger. He just started laughing at your comment, even though he knew it could be true. Yes, maybe he stalked you a little. Maybe he wanted to get to know you better while you’re so distant. The thought of this made your cheeks blush immediately. Slowly it got quiet again, before he cleared his throat. „Bold of you to assume I would only meet up with prostitutes.“ – „Bold of you to assume I would need your money to buy me clothes.“ Suddenly he just stared at you for a moment. Was he nervous? For some reason he really seemed to be. You tilted your head to the side, questioning the expression on his face. „Mr. Stark, this was supposed to be a joke… you know?“ not that you wanted his money, actually it didn’t even matter if he was rich or not, on the inside you were just happy to be with him again. He wasn’t as intimidating as before, which made it easier to stay cool.

„Good, because I wouldn’t know how to start what I actually got in mind for both of us.“ He shook his head, sighing in relief. „Oh please, don’t tell me this is some weird love story where you actually want me to become your sub.“ You rolled your eyes, still joking around. „Not exactly.“ Suddenly your eyes widened and you really had no answer to this. Not exactly? That could mean anything. You blinked at him a few times, before your head turned back to the window.

„Don’t get the wrong impression… it has nothing to do with you being some kind of a slave.“ He hook his head. „You will lead literally everything.“ – „Mr. Stark-" – „Tony… please.“ Of course you would like to say his name out loud, but you refused, maybe to punish him for this weird stuff he said? „Mr. Stark… where exactly are we going?“ Finally you looked back at him, his eyes meeting yours again. „To my penthouse.“ – „This isn’t a coffee shop, you know?“ – „Fair enough. I confess, I didn't tell you the truth, when I wanted to meet you. But you wouldn’t have said yes if I’d ask you for some arrangement.“ oh god, this couldn’t become any worse for you. „Arrangement?“ your eyes widened at his words, and you could clearly tell, he had his troubles to keep up this conversation. Slowly his hand got up to his tie, loosening it around his neck. He needed to breath. „It sounds so bad when you say it.“ – „What's positive about that?“ He stood silent again. Honestly, a part of you were curious, but the other wanted to bury yourself six feet under. It was something like a wonder you didn't break out in panic yet.

„Look", he started again „let me tell you everything, once we arrived. I’m pretty sure we can get it.“ Right, you decided to give him a chance, but you didn't talk to him until the two of you, and the driver which looked like Happy, but you weren't quite sure, arrived at the parking house.

After a long staying around in the elevator, you finally got the chance to see his penthouse, looking around surprised when you set a foot into it. „Tony… this is great.“ You didn’t even notice you called him by his first name, but he did and it made him smirk. He stopped by the biggest window in this apartment. Actually the whole wall was just glass. The perfect view of the city and the sun slowly going down. You stepped closer to him, to take a look out of the window, but you kept your safety distance from him and from the window, since you were afraid of heights.

„Come on, (Y/N), I don’t bite… usually.“ He smirked at you, but you only looked at him from the corner of your eyes. „I didn’t allow you to call me by my first name.“ He raised his hands in defence. „Should I make a contract where you become my dom?“ He laughed and you couldn’t help but blush again. His laughter was so cute and you loved to hear it over and over again. A slight smile appeared on your lips. „Woah, I see, the lady can smile as well and what a pretty one.“ He clicked his tongue. Your smile grew with that comment and suddenly you saw him with different eyes. He seemed so soft all the way to his penthouse and even right now. Maybe it wouldn’t be bad at all. Maybe this arrangement was supposed to be you working in his company?

„About that arrangement…“, you started. He sighed, rubbing his neck. „I see, you don't like to waste time…“ he gently took your hand and you refused to pull back, so he could drag you into his home office. He sat down on the chair, looking at you. „Sit down. This might take a while. FRIDAY, tell Happy to bring two coffee…“ what the hell was a FRIDAY? „Yes, sir.“ A voice filled the room and disappeared as fast as it came up. You looked around. Was that an A.I.? You wondered, how much this man had, but you pushed the thoughts away, when you looked back at him, seeing his eyes become darker.

„Well, (Y/N)…“ he started, not knowing how to start this. „This should be an arrangement only between you and me. Did you ever hear something of a sugar daddy?“ You shrugged. „Sure I did.“ – „Great. Because that's basically it. I want you to become my sugar babe. You will be there when I need you – and only you – and I will give you everything you want, materially.“ You swallowed. „Would I have to call you daddy then?“ You really weren’t sure if you wanted this. „Ton- Mr. Stark, I’m not interested in your money. We can meet without you buying me stuff.“ You shrugged again. „It's all up to you, darling. As I said before, you lead it. There are only two conditions… 1. You will have to accept any kind of presents and 2. We will have sex.“ You could feel your tights pressing against each other. This was more than just embarrassing. Would you like to give up for a second-hand relationship? „Why can’t we have a normal relationship?“ – „Because I'm not interested in such childish things.“ Now it was him who shrugged. „And I can tell by the way you sit, that you're not totally against it.“ Damn, he was right, but did you really want to become his personal slut?

„I guess I need to think about that. Get to know you a little more.“ You wonder how you were able to keep your voice calm. „I want to keep my freedom a little longer.“ He just nodded, swiping over some pieces of paper. „That would be the contract. Think about it when you're home. Take your time, I'm willing to wait for you.“ He smiled at you. „I guess I want to go home now…“ how far would he go to convince you? You decided to test him a little.

He wasn't okay with that request, but he called Happy, so he could bring you home.

Heya, trying to start an ask blog here and I know you're an abundant fountain of good advice. So what are your thoughts on reblogging one of those OC suggested ask pages? Do you think they help encourage asks? Do they clog up the blog? And also, it's an AU with a story so i'm worried i might not find a good set of asks that don't deviate completely from what's happening but I also don't want to make my own set as though i'm going "ask these".

(my dragon horde is just a pile of advice and psych facts….. along w/ pencils and drawing books.)

Honestly, I made a post that said “Hey, ask me about an au character’s backstory and I’ll draw a tiny comic about it” and THat is what turned Daydream au INTO an ask blog (idk after that post people just sent questions unprompted and I was like ‘huh, ok!’). So like, hell ya, ask games are great for helping kick off ask blogs! And if you don’t find a good set of asks for re-blogging, then home-made is fine!! Gives people a prompt! I doubt most people will think anything negatively about it (and if they do then…. they are just not playing nice)

Personally I’ve never re-blogged one of the actual OC ask game/prompt things, but I do have some general ideas about how it might be best to work w/ them.

1) if you’re worried about ‘clogging up’ your blog, A: it mayyyy get clogged up anyway at one point by a few random comments-turned-convo so don’t stress it much B: don’t re-blog more than one at a time, wait for any asks to come in within maybe a day- if no asks, reblog it again, or reblog something else, and delete the old one that didn’t have any asks related to it, (mainly if you’re trying to maintain a chrono link or anything like that)

2) Keep to smaller posts, both for in-blog scrolling reasons and, I personally, as an asker, take one look at those “99 asks” things and go “nope!” unless there’s something I reaaaallllyy found interesting in like the top, 30 or so. (but also, this is mostly my personal ideas about it and honestly, I bet other people love reading through it all and stuff so, like, you do whatever you like best.)

3) If you have a few asks that you think will deviate from the plot you got, just say ‘that won’t/doesn’t apply’ (in whichever way you’d like tbh) and, people will understand.

4) have a tag for it, either for people to go and find ask-prompt posts to ask w/, or for people to filter out. (honestly, just have a tag for everything >w

((I’ll also suggest linking back to the ask-prompt post in the resulting asks (especially for ones you really like), so that people can just click the link to find more asks to give you, but that’s like…… extra))

Overall, I think it’s really up to you and how you’d like to manage it. Whatever’s easier and funner and ect for you. I think OC ask games are great!! I personally wouldn’t use them (as I like to make my own tiny prompts :P) but if you think they’d do you good, you shouldn’t hesitate to try it out!

…[also, if you still wanna do that, and reaaaallly don’t wanna make your own post, but haven’t found something to fit your needs, I suggest looking up the tag ‘(oc) ask game’ and something specific to your au together….. might help narrow it down….. (or you could just send me things you’d like to be made an ask game via submission or something and you can just pretend you’re re-blogging from me. :P I don’t mind being a middle man for such things)]
