Hi everyone, my name is Emily, and I am SO over the head!canon that Michael Gavey likes bimbofication, and I think it's a bit anti feminist, and weirdly not in character. But hey ho, everyone is allowed an opinion, I'm just feeling a bit icky about it today and I'm looking for reassurance that it's not only me~

okay, bc i have seen this argument alot now (and it also seems to be the view point of aonuma himself..) is that "zelda cant do everything link does bc whats the point then"
and i take personal offense on that bc its a stupid argument (in. my. very. personal. opinion.- not judging people for liking it. its a ME thing)
whats the point? its that its her.
its still a different character, different in story, background, personality, but i WANT to play zelda and she can do everything link does, why does she have to be so restricted and be bend over backwards to find some new way to make her 'useful' when link gets to do basically everything no questions asked (the only thing thats hers is like .. sealing power and sacrificial maiden, which i find a little underwhelming to say the least), if theres no point to it why are there always modders that model swap link with someone else, and in that case it has even less impact bc its an artificial model swap with no changes to the story (which can and should still be different when its the vanilla game with a different protagonist... its still a different character), clearly theres joy in just the model being a different one- and that isnt even to mention the story possibilities, since, again, its stil a different character
if we ever (never ... i know who we are talking about here) get to play as ganondorf i want to him to be just as versatile and active as link is, if we got a point and click adventure game for him instead bc 'whats the point' id be disappointed too- you can find any sort of excuse/explanation for zelda to be singled out but the fact remains it tracks with how female characters are often treated, and that hits a very sore spot for me
i guess i am unfortunately one of those annoying people that want to see female characters be treated exactly the same as male characters, possibly bc i am myself afab but identify as agender and have a deeply personal dislike for anything 'traditional' feminine bc i cannot and never will be able to truly live as myself in real life, it influences all of my work, my work is as just as much as my opinion on this, very personal
and in line with my point about modding, i see theres joy in just beign able to play as her even if its like this, i get that, i also get it for the creative aspect (though that mechanic worries me even more for the future bc it really seems to be the path now that -freedom = good, linear anything = bad-) it is a different idea and its not like i cant see that value-
im not trying be "right" either, just bc i have that opinion doesnt mean i need everyone to agree, its a very personal thing, if you like it good for you! not for me though, and i think both of that is equally valid
i just personally wish she was allowed to be just like link, fight just like him but be different bc its still her and not him in the end- to be physically/playstyle like jsut like him, but you know ... as her, i dont think shed stop being zelda if she could wield a sword just like him
i dont really know how to get my point/feelings across, i dont want to step too much into personal stuff nor spam people with something that ultimately doesnt interest me alot, im just saddened by it really
(EDIT: bc i forgot to add this on here again; this isnt as much of a problem as it might sound like here, just the main topic i wanted to talk about; why im so uninterested in it is MAINLY bc i dont trust them to write anything interesting/care about lore anymore after totk, im always on the more pessimistic side that thinks its most likely worse than id hope and i know even the past games arent perfect or super interestingly written, but now its much more just a general distrust, together with everything like the price ... im just much less hopeful and cant get excited until i see more of it, like im waiting for the game to get out and reveal that its just as much of a mess and money i regret spending- kind of fear)

Y’all I just…
I know Sky is a very sweet and loving character, forgiving of Groose for bullying him (which good for him I could never), helping the people of Skyloft while also being a lovable dork.
But the man legit took on a GOD and holy shit that face when stupid lizard tongue man nabbed Zelda?
Man was out for BLOOD.
Basically, give me Blue Jay Sky.
Give me a sky that is so loving towards the chain, having chats with them and Reader. Helping them out with anything and having nice little cuddle sessions if the weather’s cold.
But give me a Sky that when someone messes with the chain and/or Reader he goes back to being a god killer— give me a Sky that will do anything if it means the safety of those closet to him.
He may be forgiving of what others do to him but so help him if someone tries something with one he cares about.
Give me a Sky that like some others within the chain has had to suffer losing someone and would be damned before he did so again.
Make this man mean, hell, vicious even when someone he cares for is threatened.
And when that threat is gone? Make him Sky again, caring and soft but with that glint still in his eye— that protective one, maybe even territorial; those lingering thoughts that remain of all the ‘what-if’s’ that could potentially take someone away from him.
Anyway! Thanks for coming to my Ted talk!

my most controversial opinion still stands that mha should’ve ended with deku sacrificing himself to end the war and tenko/tomura inheriting OFA
it’s still the story about how he became the number one hero, but it’s through his sacrifice to save the world and his legacy living on in tenko, the new symbol of peace

i don't usually do these ramble type of things, but I thought it would be fun especially since I just thought of something lol.
y'know how we have extensively explored Shadows and Sonic's trauma in multiple fan comics and what not? Going into the real nitty and gritty and what not. Y'know who- even the people that really like him -have never really talked about?
Silver.
Like, don't get me wrong, I love our little dork. But can you imagine how absolutely traumatizing living in the literal end of the world must be? And even more traumatizing to grow up in that world would be? Living in dead world, where you and your best friend and maybe one of two other people are alive. Having no hope for any kind of future. Fruitlessly searching for a way to fix, knowing that you'll probably either die alone or in some horrible way and there's really no point to try, but you still do because that hope is quite literally the only thing you got left.
And even adding on top of that, imagine once the future - I know in canon they all lose their memories and what not, but fanon and the IDW comics (and even canon at this point, let's be honest) always ignore that, so stay with me - everything is normal, a Peace future. I have high doubts Silver knows how to be a, essentially, normal person. He's been in survival mode his whole life. (Presumably at least) Silver doesn't know how to go out of survival. Hell, I don't think this man even knows what a 9 to 5 is. He thought saving his future would bring immediate happiness, every single one of his problems solved. But now? He probably would even more isolated because him and blaze are the only ones to remember.
And if we bring IDW into this, this man came back twice because his future was in danger two more times (as of the time writing this) can you imagine how anxiety inducing that must be?
Like idk, maybe it's just me. But I feel like this man has more baggage than shadow at this point.

anyone else annoyed with portrayals that make Nm and the Bad Sanses and Error out to be “actually innocent uwu guys who aren’t actually in the wrong bc they’re traumatized” and make Ink and Dream out to be “actually the real bad guys actually cuz umm Ink soulless and Dream no care abt his brother actually”?
Like people probably think it’s subversive or something when tbh it’s really not, at least not anymore. Maybe at one point it wasn’t a very popular interpretation of those guys (to have them be The Real Victims Actually) but, it sure is popular nowadays.
Like I’m not against sympathetic portrayals of the bad guys or anything (I’m literally a For The Forgotten Ones enjoyer)
but like, idk it gets on my nerves a bit when people try to make them Not The Bad Ones Actually They Did No Wrong Ever™️. Especially when it’s at the expense of the Star Sanses (Ink, Dream, and sometimes even Blue)’s characters.
It just feels like villainizing the Stars (especially Ink and Dream) for no reason other than to gesture at a “”subversive and interesting”” story, making these interpretations out to be more complex than they actually are.

Idk if I'm the odd one out or what but there are a few people who I've never actually interacted with irl but I love. Like, love love. Let me explain.
I mean I'll take them as a lover, or a brother or a friend, a mentor a guardian, anything! I just need their existence in my life, I just need them in my life and just to be clear, by "love" I don't mean romantic love, not necessarily at least, as I said before a lover, a brother or a friend, they just have this warmth engraved in them, literal sunshines.
Btw, the people I'm talking about are Steve (Stranger Things), Lucas (Stranger Things), Jonathan (Stranger Things) Finn Wolfhard, Alec Benjamin, Arthur (BBC Merlin), Merlin (BBC Merlin) Nanamin (Jujutsu Kaisen), Yeong gi (I love Yoo), Yohan (My deepest secret), Hyuk (Sweet home webtoon) Lee Eun Hyuk (Netflix Sweet home)
