oh boy, listen, the qsmp election should just be renamed the broken telephone event bc there's no way people are misrepresenting everyone's platform and to be fair character (and, a note, literally all of this is also about characters AT NO POINT DO I MEAN CCS i just get lazy typing the q! tbh) so much. maybe it's a language barrier thing, maybe it's difficulty in being the devil's advocate but it's wild to see in real time.

i watch bad religiously, try to watch as much of forever's pov i can live and what i can't i watch in vods, cellbit i catch when i can, baghera i do my best but french and me don't mix well in my head. this is coming from someone who is a native portuguese speaker and perfectly bilingual when it comes to english. i say this to illustrate that especially between the english and portuguese speakers, i'm not getting lost in buggy translations or difficulty undestanding.

do i disagree with insaneduo? yep, but that's a personal opinion. i also entirely understand not only their stance during the debates (do i enjoy it? not really, the tone — which is not aggressive, it's assertive — is anxiety inducing TO ME PERSONALLY and so i struggle) but also their platform. they're doing the best with what they've been given, and keeping your enemies close is the only thing in their opinion has truly shown any sort of result. using the federation's resources is an opportunity they can't pass up! they have great ideas, good implementation plans, and cellbit isn't even running so really, forever is doing the most as he should. i understand why he doesn't understand the anarchy route in this situation. yes, their platform has been misrepresented, but that's because ultimately what they showcase in public forums aka debates for all to see does come across as very assertive (which is what debates are for, asserting your stance) and at times a bit tunnel vision imo. listening to them properly out of the debates would do a lot to stop whatever circus has been going on.

now, i have seen an insane amount of people almost mischaracterising bad and baghera as a response to the misinterpretation of insaneduo, and that's not fair either. bad and baghera have spoken at length about their issues with presidency, how they don't want to centralise power, how they don't trust the federation and they definitely don't trust anyone who will be actively pulled around by them. are they all puppets? yes, but do you want to give power to someone who willingly or not is giving up their own strings? it's normal that they're reluctant or just blatantly refusing of that idea. they don't think insaneduo are power hungry dictators, they've in fact spoken multiple times talking about how they think BOTH cellbit and forever would be good presidents (bad specifically mentioned it even last night) but that the concern isn't them, it's the federation.

bad making a joke about helping foolish assassinate anyone other than baghera and gegg is… a joke. it's literally a silly goofy joke based on "my coalition vs everyone else" and the idea of political assassination. there's quite literally no need, and frankly imo a disservice to the relationship that bad and forever have to mischaracterise that. if i remember correctly, wasn't forever the one talking about how they should be killing each other bc it'd be fun? i might be wrong there, but i vividly remember that.

my point being, this election is ultimately an exercise in futility bc they're all fucked regardless, this isn't "giving someone power" it's the federation sticking a pacifier in their mouth for soothing and telling them they'll sleep better. it'll end terribly either way, and no character is safe. it's a ridiculous plotline but a wildly interesting one, BECAUSE it's doomed to fail and yet everyone's doing the song and dance.

enjoy the content. laugh. analyse the character dynamics, motivations and plans. don't go out of your way to mischaracterise and demonise any character bc that not only goes against everything the qsmp stands for, but it also sucks the fun out of it for you and everyone else. no one is after anyone, no one is isolating anyone to be mean to them, these people are friends playing characters who are friends. have fun! my god!

“Transmasculine?” Jack can't state that he's familiar with the exact word or its definition. He's definitely aware that there are other gender identities, gender expressions, or both, besides cisgender, but it's not exactly a topic that he keeps himself up-to-date with when it comes to the terminology and information. Ultimately, it takes (Y/N) sitting Jack down and explaining transmasculine for him to be able to wrap his mind around this new information. “It sounds quite.. simple.. to understand?” It still might take him some time to completely come to understand, as besides his partner explaining it to him Jack then takes it upon himself to do some more research on it, but he's trying! He's realizing that it's quite crucial that he's informed about this information, not only for the well-being of (Y/N), but for their success and well-being of their relationship as well.

While gender dysphoria is something else that’s also probably going to have to be explained to him, it’s definitely something that he could come up with ways to ease those thoughts that make (Y/N) upset at times, or even have days of being upset. Maybe trying on some of Jack’s clothes would help? Or even going and buying a wardrobe of clothes that would enhance (Y/N)’s masculine features? “Lookin’ handsome as always, love.” Are you needing assistance with chest binding perhaps? Don’t worry, Jack is definitely your guy. Well, it’ll probably take him a couple of times of hands-on experience before he manages to get the hang of it. “Which one would you prefer this time? Would you prefer the kinetic tape? Or just the actual binder?” He’s also on top of consistently asking if (Y/N)’s comfortable and if there’s any health concerns from using the binders. “Are you able to breathe well? Would you like me to tighten or loosen it? ..It’s not irritating your skin is it? If so, we could look into getting you some of this moisturizing cream that I typically use..” Jack would also be completely fine with (Y/N) using some of his products that have that masculine fragrance if that makes him feel better as well.

There happens to be some times that Jack accidentally slips up and accidentally uses the wrong pronouns when it comes to talking to (Y/N) or even talking about (Y/N) to someone else. If it happens, he’ll apologize and correct himself, also making sure that (Y/N) is okay and explain that it wasn’t his intention to accidentally misgender or misidentify him. His voice will be soft and reassuring, making sure to bring (Y/N) into his arms and hold them close to him. Yet, if it was someone else that was someone else that ends up misgendering (Y/N).. If it happens to be someone that’s unaware that (Y/N) is transmasculine, then Jack would loudly clear his throat, tilting his head as he narrows his eyes through his visor, speaking loudly enough for everyone to hear. “If you’re NOT AWARE, (Y/N) typically goes by HE/HIM pronouns, but it’s best to ask just in case (Y/N) has decided differently for the time being.” Yet, if the person happens to be aware and is just being an asshole by purposely misgendering and misidentifying (Y/N), then expect Jack to get aggressive, He won’t hesitate to become physical, getting a tight grip upon their arms and roughly slamming them up against the wall, glaring intensely. “If you don’t quit your shit, I will make sure that as long as you’re amongst the ranks of Overwatch, I WILL make your life an absolute hell. Therefore, consider this your only warning to respect (Y/N)’s identity and pronouns.”

Some interesting differences between Greek and Roman myths (and other things) that I think would've been really cool to explore in HoO and ToA

Disclaimer: I am no scholar, and while I have tried my hardest to check my resources for accuracy, any sort of second-hand account of mythology has a chance of holding misinformation. I sadly do not have access to many primary sources, so this might not all be 100% accurate!! If you see something and you know it's wrong, pls let me know so I can fix it!

Anyways, onto the list! This is REALLY long, but the organization is gonna go like this.

Fact about the difference between Greek and Roman myths or worship.

Reason why I think it would be interesting to explore in the riordanverse.

and so on and so forth. This is really just for me to document ideas I've had, but hopefully y'all get something out of it too, read at your own risk, I suppose.

The Romans believed that after the Titanomachia, Saturn (The roman name for Kronos) fled to Italy and took refuge with it's king. Saturn eventually shared the throne with this king, and their kingdom was known to be joyous and peaceful. Romans actually worshiped Saturn bc of this, and he had a temple at the foot of Capitoline Hill.

Imagine if Percy arrived at Camp Jupiter, and one of the first things he sees is a temple to the titan he just spent 5 years trying to defeat. Like, I know he has no memories at this point, but I'm sure it would make him at least a bit uneasy. I think this would do a lot to sell the greek/roman schism in HoO, bc that whole plot point never really hit with me. We keep being told the Greeks and Romans hate each other almost instinctively, but other than Octavian, we aren't really shown it. Also it always seems like the Romans hate the Greeks and the Greeks are just kind of offended that the Romans hate them. Having actual tangible reasons for our main Greek character to feel uncomfortable around New Rome would a lot to make this actually feel like an equal issue.

2. In Greek mythology, Zeus was thought to be powerful, but not a supreme force. He was still beholden to the strings of fate. On the other hand, Jupiter was seen as the lord of life and death, having complete power and control over the cycle of life. He was more powerful than fate, and never came down from Olympus, as Zeus was known to do often.

Again, a HUGE discrepancy that I wish the books explored. This just kind of goes with the underdevelopment of Jason in HoO, but how cool would it be if Jason had this understanding of Jupiter. Like, yeah, in canon Jason points out that Jupiter is stern and distant, but it never gets to all-powerful controller of life levels. Having Jason see his father's distance as right and just would make him an incredible contrast to Percy, who just spent the last 5 books trying to get gods to be more open with their kids. It would add so much to Jason's arc about being torn between Camp Jupiter and Camp Half-Blood. As a Roman and Praetor, Jason understands why his father never speaks with him, but as a kid, he wishes he could know the humanity of the Greek side of his father. (ofc in pjo Zeus sucks either way but Jason doesn't know that)

3.Juno was actually seen as much nicer and more matronly than Hera, and was said to watch over every woman from her birth until her death.

I just think this would do wonders for Hera's characterization in the riordanverse. Imagine if we got to see her actually help one of the girls on the Argo II as Juno, especially since she basically put EVERY SINGLE MALE CHARACTER on the Argo II personally, yet had nothing to do with he female characters??? Seriously, Hera was behind Leo, Frank, Jason, and Percy being a part of this quest, but as far as I can remember, she had nothing to do with Annabeth, Piper, or Hazel being there. What is up with that? It would've been so cool to see Juno watch over Hazel, or help Annabeth (Could lead to some awesome character development for both Hera and Annabeth), or even just give some advice to Piper. Seriously we were robbed.

4. This isn't really a difference, but there is actually a period in Rome where Apollo does not seem to have been worshiped at all, or at least not in any major capacity. One temple is noted to have been built for Apollo in 430 B.C.E., but we don't really see him again in any sort of public way until Augustus takes power hundreds of years later. Seeing as Apollo was one of, if not the most popular Greek deity, this is a rather large change. Of course, once Augustus brings him back to the limelight, worship of Apollo becomes hugely popular, with many emperors claiming his moniker to show their own divinity.

This could actually fill a big plot hole in the riordanverse. It makes no sense that Apollo has 6-7 Greek children as of the end of ToA, yet he has no roman kids at all? However, in this light we see Apollo as a god who never really connected with Rome, and was a bit of a late runner when it comes to Roman worship. If you look at it from a character standpoint, instead of a strictly historical or mythological view, it almost seems like Apollo was holding onto Greece. The Romans started taking Greek colonies in the 200's B.C.E, and have fully taken the area by 146 B.C.E.. In this time, and even before it, almost every Greek deity was co-opted into Roman worship. Apollo, however, stayed steadfastly Greek, until Augustus started to pray to him for victory in battle. (Fun fact: Augustus actually credited Apollo with his victory over Marc Anthony and Cleopatra in Actium) This whole thing makes it look like Apollo just didn't want to be Roman, or at least he didn't want to let go of Greece like the other gods were. And it seems like he didn't let go of Greece at all in the end, as there are very few notable differences between his Greek and Roman depictions. From this, I take two things. One, Apollo was probably never Roman, at least not in the way HoO depicts a god being Roman. This creates some interesting implications for how Apollo lived during Roman times, but that's a whole other thing. Two, because of this, Apollo might not be able to have a Roman demigod child. After all, the demigods at Camp Jupiter are classed as such for being born to specifically roman counterparts of gods. If Apollo has no such counterpart, he can't have the kids. Of course, this begs the question of Octavian, but I'll expand on that later.

5. When you look into it, the Roman god Diana is actually much closer to many characteristics of Hecate than she is the Greek portrayal of Artemis (though this is mainly because Artemis and Hecate were mixed together often, even in Greek times.) It is said that Diana has three forms: In the heavens she was Luna, the moon; on earth she was Diana, the goddess of the hunt; and in the underworld, she was Proserpine, a malevolent master of witchcraft.

Ok, ok I know this actually makes no sense in the context of HoO, but wouldn't it be so cool if Hazel worked with Diana instead of Hecate. I just think it would really expand the arc!! Seeing a different side of Artemis, one of the godesses we've probably saw the most of in the original series, would be so neat. Also, Diana as Proserpine having connections to both witchcraft and the underworld makes her a perfect fit. IDK IDK I just think it would be really cool. PLUS it would give Hazel and Frank a fun little parallel bc Frank would be inspired by Apollo while Hazel was trained by DIana. Vague sun and moon parallels my beloved.

6. The job of an Augur is actually much closer to the Greek's soothsayers than it is their oracles. While oracles are said to interpret the god's will, soothsayers and augurs see the future simply through simple acts of nature. The way in which augurs tell the future actually has a lot less to do with the gods than one might assume.

I just wish this fact was mentioned in HoO bc honestly it clears up so much for me. Also when it comes to Octavian, I think it makes more sense for him to be blessed by Apollo instead of descended from him (I know he says he's both in the book but shhh wait let me keep going for a sec) Soothsayers and Augurs were priests, directly picked by the gods to divine the future on their own. While oracles were basically the gods mouthpieces, Augurs would be allowed to divine their own interpretation of the future from what they saw in nature, all condoned by whatever god blessed them (probably Apollo). In this way, the whole "Apollo is turned mortal bc he supported Octavian" thing makes a lot more sense. In canon, we only get told through a throwaway line that Apollo was "totally swayed by Octavian's promises of power guys, trust me." It always just seemed so out of left field to me. If I were to take it in a new direction, I would lean much more into the fact that Octavian was an appointed priest of Apollo, who abused his supposed ability for prophecy to cause war. Apollo is now directly stated to be Octavian's willful benefactor, so of course he'd take the fall this. It would show Apollo's callousness. He doesn't care for Camp Jupiter as much he does Camp half-blood (see point 4) so he let the position of Augur become corrupt with little complaint. Also, if Octavian isn't Apollo's descendant, my whole "Apollo can't have a roman kid" theory is FOOLPROOF HAHAHAHAAHAHAHA

7. While both cultures had large religious festivals, Rome's were much more centralized and documented. This is mainly due to Rome being ruled by a single republic or emperor, as opposed to Greece's city-states.

This isn't changing anything in canon as much as wishing there was more of it. Man, I wish we could've seen more of the Roman festivals. We're always just told they happen, but I wanna know the specifics! These are huge religious events! Are the New Romans actually fully worshiping the gods these festivals celebrate? How do the Roman characters we have feel about the festivals? Does Jason miss them while on the Argo II? Do Hazel, Frank, and Jason try to put on a small celebration for the festivals that pass while they're sailing to Rome? Let these things be important dangit.

8. When the Greeks sculpted, they focused on the ideal form, with emphasis put on the athletic male figure. Because of this, the face of the figure was not specific to any individual, as it was not the focus. In contrast, the Romans put a heavy emphasis on the face. In Rome, you wanted your lineage to be known, so you had your face sculpted with intense detail. That way, sculptures of your face could be compared with sculptures of your forefathers, or your children.

Again, I wish we were shown more of a difference between Greeks and Romans than "Romans are strict and organized, Greeks like to have fun" They're two entirely different cultures!!! Imagine if we showed the Roman emphasis on lineage in someone other than Octavian. Have Jason be genuinely proud of the affluence being a son of Jupiter gives him, let that be a flaw of his, a point of contention on the Argo II. Show how family pride can be important in arcs like Frank's, where he learns how to accept the fact that he is Mars' son, and grow into that role. Put the emphasis of these arcs on the fact that they're struggling with the ROMAN idea of family lineage. Let being from New Rome be an real identity. I feel like the synopsis of this whole thing is that I wish the Romans had whole beliefs that were wildly different from the Greeks. They could value different things, interact with the gods in distinctly different ways. We always see the conflict of swords between the Greeks and Romans, but never the conflict of beliefs, and I think that kind of sucks. Also it makes NO SENSE THAT THE ROMANS HATE THE GREEKS ANYWAY! Ancient Romans fucking loved Ancient Greeks! They saw the Greeks as their ancestors, adapting all of their religion and art out of a genuine appreciation for the culture. If anyone should hate anyone, it should be the Greeks, bc the Greeks were the ones who GOT CONQUERED. But in HoO, all of the Greeks just seem mildly disgruntled by the idea of Romans. idk it doesn't make much sense to me.

I know that after those 2 small Madoka thoughts I had I said I'd stay in my lane but my film/media brain is like "hey hey hey remember that "cool" thought you had?" So. Even though Chikage is still not my lane, my film brain wants to discuss the neatness/niftyness/cleverness (idk which word I'm looking for) of Act 8 & the slight step further it could've been pushed, in reference to Act 5 of course. Besides if the Zafran princes are my lane(I'm kinda forcing myself on them actually, I'm probably not the best person to claim them but here we are), and Citron is both a Zafran Prince & in Spring Troupe and Chikage is in Spring Troupe, Chikage is my lane adjacent. Still though if I say something that makes you go "well actually" please ignore me. Let me have 0 notes due to being wrong about something, it's okay. Really.

Act 5 (Chikage's storyline) recap - Paragraph 1 Act 8 (Zafra storyline) "mini" recap -Paragraph 2 Cleverness - Paragraph 4 The Potential Push - Paragraphs 5-8 Conclusion - Paragraph 9 Too long, didn't read: I like the parallel between Chikage's abducting to destroy in Act 5, & rescuing to protect in Act 8. As a film major I feel the rescue coulda been used to move his relationships forward in a way had there been any (realistic) animosity/hesitance lingering.

So as we all may or may not (idk) know, in Act 5 Chikage infiltrates Mankai by being let in through the front door(he's undercover shush!) and sees how Mankai is one big happy family. Feeling betrayed by Hisoka/having some misinformation he decides to get his revenge: Hisoka entered then ruined his happy family (and abandoned him), so he would do the same to Hisoka. In this he comes up with a simple Preminger plan: Izumi, the center of Mankai, goes missing, Mankai disbands. (This plan would've worked best if he snatched up Sakuya alongwith Sakyo &/or Isuke too, just saying. Those four are the reason Mankai stands today. Fact. But also imagine them having to navigate the coleads, director, financer and manager mia, woulda been harder to pull off and come back from but Mankai woulda been a mess) So he kidnaps Izumi, Hisoka comes to save & reconcile, they all go home. Izumi lies for Chikage, Chikage later shares that he actually did abducted her(without reasoning as to why ehich leaves open a bit of skepticism but yada yada we get the point).

In Act 8, (let's see how quick I can give the setup), Guy comes and reveals Citron is next in line for the throne and that there are some others who support his brothers being next in line and of them there are extremists(every cause has some extremists am I right or am I right?), Citron knowing Chikage got the capabilities to make people disappear w/out a trace asks Chikage to help him dip for Zafra early w/out Guy (also remind me to write about Citron's "selfishness"(there's a different word I'm thinking of but this'll have to do) pls I have thoughts); Mankai first begrudgingly accepts this but then they're like "No! Who broke it?" and head down to Zafra to get an explanation from Citron 'cause "dude what the heck?" They make it just in time to find out about a plot to keep him from ascending to the throne and that he's been kidnapped. Here Chikage steps up to the plate to find and save Citron from being kidnapped.(Itaru goes too but we're not here to talk about how he was prepped to die to save his wife<3, gosh I love love). (Kinda lengthy but I can't help making side notes & jokes lol)

So now that I've said a whole lot of nothimg, let's discuss the cleverness and how it could've been pushed.

Of course you've probably caught onto the cleverness yourself, a person who once abducted someone before a big event now is rescuing someone kidnapped before a big event. He is actively working in another person's best interest and to help sustain a family rather than aim to cause one to crumble out of his own desires of revenge. Of course, he vowed to protect the Mankai family at the end of Act 5, the parallel itself is still neat. And there's double the families he's sustaining in saving Citron here because not only is he saving a member Mankai/Spring Troupe's family but also of the Zafran royal family (why don't they have a last name >~<; that's so long winded), which allows a place for there to be a return after their punishment for suresies because if it had gone worse...

So now that that's been addressed how can this have been pushed further. Well. It could've been Chikage proving how much he's grown to care for and how much he means it when he says that he is devoted to protecting Mankai, which it kinda was in a bit of a less stated way. But also! While A3! is a clever series with compelling characters and storylines, there are some aspects that fall a little flat in the realism department at times, if they commited to being a bit more realistic w/ certain forgiveness storylines, this would've been a great moment for someone to feel more open to trusting Chikage. Like especially w/ him already being concerned about Mankai being upset with him for agreeing to & succeding to send off Citron. If it was like "man I'm still walking on eggshells a bit because even though people are nice to me and accept me they still don't fully trust/like me, I'm so not going to be increasing my score w/ any of them this way" and then him actively going to save and succeding in saving a cherished member of Mankai, with complete resolve and trying to keep everyone safe. That's something that could've really been something. Like not to say it wasn't anything or anything, just like it could have been a shift in the story. Like they love Chikage but do they trust him? They don't have much of choice. Obviously this can only be properly done with characters who would have animosity, coulda been there, and if it was something mentioned between the two points but yea.

(Reminder: my "lane" is the Zafran Princes so if I say anything inaccurate to any other character they're not my lane. (my current tag for them (tho I am considering changing it) is "Citron & his brothers" if you want to see anything I've said about them. (here's a good place to start, me thinks)(yea pretty shameless self promo but eh) I'm kinda dumb and know nothing tho so idk if any of it's at all good or something you'd agree w/ but I feel alright about the stuff I've said lol). I'm not a great writer or anything but I think if they had decided to take that route the best Spring Troupe options for that kinda dynamic woulda been Masumi or maybe Tsuzuru. (Had to choose Spring Troupe to go along with the setup that's already there, any other troupe and I might have to change big story details & that's not the goal here, the goal is elevating what's already there) Why these two? Well I'm less sold on Tsuzuru but I feel like he has more realistic and negative-leaning views sometimes, like he feels like a person who feels like he might stay cautious about a person who's done some shady things. Masumi other the hand is already a bit less of a people person, has he grown alot already yes, however, he is still someone who very much (haha kinda like Chikage) has a strong desire to protect those important to him and Chikage litterally abducted Izumi who was dire in Masumi being able to connect with more people and have those he wants to protect and do things for and she's at the top of that list of people. Sure she doesn't hold anything against Chikage but she's Izumi. She's a very caring and forgiving person. I could see someone like Masumi being a bit on gaurd and skeptical partly on her behalf.

I'm sure it'd be a little harder to pull off with what the situation was but I do think it's plausible & do-able. I mean, if I recall correctly, at this point most of Mankai are unaware why Chikage kidnapped Izumi in the first place(I think Hisoka, Izumi, and sorta the rest of Winter Troupe and Sakuya knew around the time it happened) so if one of them(not the ones I just specified) were somewhat weary of him it could make sense, I think reasoning is something that I can see being important to Masumi and Tsuzuru and that's something Chikage didn't divulge, so it feels like Chikage did it for "no reason". Though I do want to say I think if we took one if these routes reasoning would be important to them in different ways. Tsuzuru would be more mentally like but what was the reason tho, while Masumi would think less about that he didn't give his reasoning and compartmentalize it as no good reason as he had his chance to explain but didn't, which I wanted to bring up because because imagine with me if you please, Masumi accepting Chikage being around but lowkey not fully trusting him bcause he clearly had no good reason for abducting Izumi. Chikage plays vital role in rescuing Citron maybe he is okay to trust a bit more and maybe (flashfoward to Magician's Pure Love) Masumi can hear out what reason Chikage had for his actions, because maybe even if it was wrong and something he shouldn't have done, maybe he does have a reason. (See I'm tying things together)

My only hesitance really being the comparison of how important Izumi and Citron are to this character (because they're the ones in the situation not the weary character) but it simultaneously makes me want to hit floor it because they're equally important. Or something. Idk honestly. Just, i it was Masumi for this route I could see that being a nice reminder he cherishes his whole family. (I know Act 5 kinda already is that but I'm just throwing paint at the wall okay? This is only my lane adjacent.) I guess while I'm here let's discuss why not Izumi or Citron being the person for this to drive the relationship forward. Well. I think even if Izumi reasonably had a small fear of or discomfort with Chikage after Act 5 she would actively be workimg herself to getting over it. For it to be something to drive their relationship it would definitely have to be a thing between the two of them. Meanwhile, Citron literally trusted Chikage to keep his secret that he was leaving early and help him do so. I think they're in an okay place.

So yea, maybe this whole idea is dumb or too movie or something, Idk I have film major brain, but it's something I think about sometimes(not as much as I laid out here but the concept). Like obviously in part the rescue's probably partially there with something similar to that in mind but like instead it's to prove Chikage to the viewers rather than to Mankai, however I also think that it's okay in media to make characters have to work for people(read: other characters) to forgive and/or be comfortable around them. Like sure sure some people will forgive you pretty early on and water under the bridge and all that stuff. And some people won't mind being around you. But some people might be completely unaware as to how much they subconciously don't trust you. Some might be like okay we're cool but we're not cool. For some people all this depends on how well they feel they know/understand you and which actions they've seen to help determine your character to them, you know? And I like complicated/layered/complex dynamics and relationships, so I personally woulda found it neat to have something like that within the story. But who am I lol

oh my god you guys, the new COPPA thing will NOT help children ffs

listen i care a lot about kids safety online, as someone who’s had. very bad experiences on the internet when i was younger, i get it ok. i get it.

but the whole new COPPA thing will not only hurt creators, but will also do more harm than good in helping to keep kids safe.

i see a lot of people painting the FTC as 100% reasonable and youtube as 100% at fault (or conversely, youtube as innocent martyrs and the FTC as evil), personally, i think both the FTC and youtube are at fault here. its reasonable for the FTC to be concerned, but theyre trying to implement laws abt things they dont know anything about, and meanwhile youtube is trying to “solve” this in the worst possible way.

yall are gonna be big mad at me for saying this but. children seeing personalized ads do not hurt them any more than they do adults. let me explain.

(note: before i say anything more i wanna get this out of the way: whether youtube collecting data for ads AT ALL, is bad is a discussion for another day, it’s NOT what we should be focusing on right now, so i will not bring it up in this post)

youtube obviously does not collect this data in the youtube kids app, cuz it’s explicitly made for kids. this is an issue regarding youtube main, specifically, kids under 13 using their parents accounts to watch videos (as a sidenote, the whole thing the FTC were concerned about seems to be youtube collecting data WITHOUT PARENTAL CONSENT, but parents allowing their kids to use youtube main sounds a lot like consent to me. honestly i might b wrong abt this but to me it seems like the easiest way for youtube to solve this problem would be to add smth in their tos abt the data collected and how letting any1 under 13 use the main site = consent to collecting their data, but i digress.)

this means that any information collected is NOT the kids information, but the parents, since the child is using their account. there is absolutely no way to tell if a child or an adult is using the account, hence why youtube is going after “”kids content”” and assuming EVERYONE who watches “”kids content”” is a child (remember that this doesnt only affect like peppa pig episodes and kids nursery rhymes and stuff, but ANY content that youtube n the FTCs vague rules consider ‘for kids’. with that in mind, hopefully i dont have to explain how stupid that is)

lemme repeat there is functionally ABSOLUTELY NO WAY to tell that a child is watching rather than an adult.

there’s also the fact that creators/users on youtube have absolutely no way of accessing the information collected, all we get is vague things like age range, gender, country. we do not get ANY information that’d let us see individual users data, let alone use it to contact them.

but basically, kids information is NOT being gathered, youtube kids does not gather this information, and youtube main gathers the information of the PARENTS, not the kids. so basically, this is a non-issue, and going through with these new regulations to “solve” this non-issue is dumb and jsut hurts EVERYONE.

now, here’s why i believe this will actually do more harm than good:

videos marked as “kids content” will not have personalized ads, meaning their ad revenue will drop with anything from 60-90%

also videos with this marking will not have comments, not be added to any playlists, etc. basically they’ll have less visibility and have a harder time being discovered.

big corporations will find a way to deal with this but smaller kids content creators won’t. many ppl who made content for kids will be forced to quit, since it’s just not sustainable anymore, meaning there’ll be a decrease in quality content for kids to watch.

but it gets worse. since these new rules will also affect “child attractive content”, this will actually give creators incentive to create more mature content to avoid the dreaded “made for kids” checkbox. especially considering any violations of this extremely vague rule can result in a 42k fine PER VIDEO. no one wants that.

so to make sure youtube and the FTC will not consider their content “for kids”, many channels that were previously child friendly (though not directly aimed at children) will start deliberately making their content more mature to alienate kids.

so with actual kids content decreasing, and child friendly content being replaced by more mature content, there’ll be MUCH LESS quality stuff for kids to watch, possibly leading them to watch the new mature content instead, so kids are just gonna risk seeing more stuff that’s harmful to them (with the same personalized ads that were the god damn problem to begin with so like good job on not solving anything)

basically this change will harm creators AND kids and not really help anyone in the long run

now, again i think the FTC and youtube are both at fault here.

youtube because they suck and can’t come up with any better solution.

the FTC because they’re trying to pass laws they know zero about. (seriously. a youtuber n former lawyer went to DC to talk to them abt the new rules and it turns out the FTC are soooo misinformed abt this it aint even funny)

and i’m very tired of people with negative braincells acting like this change is going to help kids at all.

I do agree that there is a lot of pressure for ppl within the lgbt community to have a perfect understanding of all sexualitites and the issues they face, but that’s not realistic so I agree that I think eret might have been misinformed rather than saying these things with malicious intent. Hi, I have a question for you, Queer Yoda (don’t even bother denying it 😉). Do you have any advice on how to deal with homophobes? Or rather someone who does not consider themselves as such, but who have some conservative views that can be harmful and who are not able to see that themselves. Do you think trying to educate them, even without willingness from them, could work or is it better to let it go and move on? I’m not looking for a definitive answer here, just another perspective.

In my experience, trying to educate or correct the ignorant opinion of an adult is quite difficult. Their perspectives and attitudes are fixed by this point and therefore explaining something simple as ‘respect people who for they are’ is quite pointless. They should know that by now. Which is why, I work or explain these things to younger people. They are interested in learning and hearing different perspectives. 

It is up to you whether you want to take up this fight or not. Like you said, sometime it is best to keep quiet and move on. But if you want to, you can always challenge them. In my personal life, I try to educate as much I can. But it’s important to understand that it only works, regardless of how clear your point is, if the person is willing to listen. Unfortunately not a lot of people are. So, if they are not willing, then I would recommend that you do not waste your energy on them. Talk to people who care and want to learn.

Having said that, it is also a long game. If that person’s opinion is important to you, then I say keep trying. For example, my mom was incredibly homophobic and thought gay people are criminals and pedophiles. But I didn’t blame her for her opinion because that’s the society and culture she grew up in. Her values were shaped by the things she saw and heard. So, it was important to me that she understood her perspective is wrong and she is misinformed. So, over the last four years, I have been educating - very slowly and carefully - about why she is wrong. And trust me, it is hard - especially when they are older and consider themselves to be more experienced and wiser than you are. 

But after these years, even though my mom is still not entirely okay with gay people, she is not the person used to be. She knows I have gay friends and treats them the same as my straight friends. She knows I am an LGBT activist, she talks to people about the work I do (as opposed to avoiding the subject). A couple of months ago, I told her how homosexuality is criminalised in many countries including our on. Then she told me that ‘people cannot be decriminalised for loving. That is ridiculous’. For me, this is amazing progress. I am proud of her and glad that I didn’t give up because it was too hard.

But I also want you to understand that you can’t change everyone’s mind or attitude towards this. Some people are just not worth your time. It is not good for your mental health to try and ‘fix’ these people.It is not your job to fix them. So, don’t feel guilty for not choosing to speak out. Just because we are burned by the mistakes of our ancestors, it doesn’t mean that we have a duty to fix them. It’s okay not to fight or speak out. It’s okay to fight quietly. It’s okay to fight for yourself.

If you do want to speak out, a small tip would be to challenge them scientifically - because facts cannot lie. For example, when people say ‘gays go to hell’ or ‘homsexuality is a sin’ asking them to prove it. Ask them to show where exactly it is in the bible or relevant religious scripture. It makes them realize that they in fact do not know where it is from. They realize they have been just basing their opinions on hearsay. 

When they say, ‘gay people are mentally challenged’ show them articles that show where homosexuality was proved to be NOT a mental illness more than 30 years ago. Show them articles of transgender people no longer being considered as mentally ill according to WHO. 

When they say ‘gay people can’t have children’ talk about adoption, surrogacy and how having children does not define a marriage or relationship. 

For those who are willing to listen, challenge them with your heart. For those who do not, challenge them with science. I hope this helps <3

ok parting thoughts before i got to bed–– 

it’s really easy to say that “i don’t care about my sexuality” because the /end result/ of my love & sexuality is not condemned. it’s easy to be like, “oh i’m straight but i don’t care.” right??

i guess the only thing that “deviates” from the norm is being in an interracial relationship, and the expression of sex (through lenses of tradition). but it’s all so normal to me that i forget that to some, it’s not. like i can feel my boyfriend’s family look at me with side eyes sometimes, or i can feel the cultural disconnect. and like there’s nothing wrong with most of that but, it doesn’t come as naturally to other people? i guess?

idk i don’t think i’m better than anyone else, i’m still a learning and growing human, but yeah. i don’t find myself paying attention to those “differences” as much now that i’m older. 

in elementary school, i went to a private catholic school, but i didn’t even know that being filipino meant anything until public school, lol i wa slike, “oh yeah we just have different hair and skin color. that’s it.” and then in middle school i was totally ignorant and didn’t understand much about anything, so i said all the stupid shit. :( then in high school, i started to notice more things cos all my friends came out to me and then i became a diversity trainer and like saw my ignorant middle-school-self in a lot of first-years i had to teach. it was like :o wow, you have not seen what the world is and can be yet. also they all thought i was a lesbian haha and i see a lot of those kids around still and they remember me c: then in college i moved out of the usual (asian) cliques i would have been in, and totally just lived like who tf cares what u are, i enjoy u so i enjoy you. and now i’m like the same, but i’m around A LOT more straight people..... and my eye twiches like every ten seconds cos i’m so scared of what people will say next???? not really about my relationship but about like,.... race and sexuality and the president in general lmao. i’m glad i’m growing and that i know myself a lot better know but oof it is HARD to find people who think the same way u do

but you explained that it was complete accidents, there was no malicious intention, or intention of any kind

idiots on campus starting saying that you had a crush on haechan, but you wanted to stand out, so you did all those things on purpose to get him to notice you

it's a total lie, and hyuck has to debunk it before it gets to everyone, but he doesn't know how

this time, it was he who accidentally started something up, and it went a little like this:

"hey haechan do they like you?"

"what? no it's a myth"

he said that, in the spur of a moment, because you liking him back would be a myth only he wishes would be true

but guess which idiots got the wrong idea? the geniuses of spreading misinformation

and said misinformation spread like wild fire, deeming you a bad omen, and especially to haechan

it dealt more damage to your reputation than to you mentality

because if you were a bad omen, the first person you would be cursing is yourself, for bringing all this shit upon yourself

but also, to haechan, because you found out weeks later that he actually said it himself

you can't be more annoyed

you clearly explained to him how it all happened and that it was an accident

you even went to testify with him to prove it was an accident

how could he, knowing all this, sit still and accuse you of being a bad omen??? a bad luck charm????

not to sound dramatic, but he basically ruined your campus life, even the newcomers know of your story

he's panicking, almost everyday when he has to pass by your class

Please stop spreading articles from websites such as allkpop. They make their articles in order to gain clicks and traffic to their website, and are using a terrible situation to get what they want and need. Some of the stuff that has been spread like wildfire, such as the ticket cancellations for UNIBIRTHDAY, is extremely incorrect and is having to be proven wrong by other fans. This information is hurting a lot of you, and it’s making you worry more. Which, is completely fair. It gets to me too. The best way to avoid any misinformation or miscommunication is to rely on the fandom only such as our translators and other reliable sources such as CUBE/PTG/HYUNA. 

Another thing to note, I’ve seen a lot of people interacting with kfans angrily. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve said my fair share of crap privately and have even publicly subtweeted without specifically saying who, but I’m asking people to try and avoid direct interaction with them. Being angry at them, cussing them out, or doing whatever else we’ve been doing is only going to fan the flames and make this harder on Pentagon. Their feelings and mental health matter just as much as ours. It has to be hard on them to see their fans torn apart like this. I’m not saying don’t be mad, heck, I’m really mad myself, but they’re only taking our anger and using it against us. Of course, I don’t agree with other fans, and never will about this situation and find the whole thing to be childish, but interacting with them in this way is only riling them up further. Let’s try to just interact positively with other fans that we do agree with, Pentagon’s social media such as fancafe and twitter, and participate in fun fan projects that other people are coming up with. Jinho, Hongseok, and Yanan all currently have upcoming schedules or ongoing shows/musicals. They could use our good energy. And be sure to especially send Hyojong our good vibes. He’s the one who will need it the most.

To the fans who are hurt, scared, and most of all worried about all of this: do not feel bad if you have to step away. Your mental health is important. And when something that used to be your happy place no longer brings you happiness, it is time to let it go for the time being. Your love will likely come back, your happiness will too. Sometimes I'll see things happening in the world and randomly remember that I studied Sociology for 4 years and that I actually have the mental framework to scientifically approach social issues instead of just making memes about them, so let's do this.

I need the world to know that big, widespread problems are almost never the result of individual poor choices, but of systemic issues that need to be addressed, and no amount of individual action will do much of anything unless the problem is addressed at a systemic level. This isn't just theory either, there is extensive data on almost any societal ill you can think of, from poverty to crime rates to drug addiction, that signifies that these issues largely begin and end at the systemic level. It's why blaming the individual is not only crass, but broadly useless. It's why I can never subscribe to political ideologies that brush aside these issues as individual failings.

And it's why I wish more people would apply this reasoning to the pandemic as well. I see so much individual blame, and don't get me wrong, I'm guilty of that mindset sometimes, too. But something this big doesn't get solved at the individual level. Understand, individual actions still matter. Your choosing to wear a mask in the checkout line might mean the cashier doesn't catch anything from you. But there's no guarantee they won't catch something from the 100 or so other people they ring up that day. (Obviously still wear a mask when you're going through checkout pls)

If one person is choosing not to get vaccinated, you have an individual problem. If one town is choosing not to get vaccinated, you have a community problem. If half the country is unvaccinated, you have a systemic problem.

Is it lack of information/misinformation? Is it lack of resources? (i.e. being able to get time off without risking income?) Is it lack of trust? (If so, what has caused that lack of trust?)

Vaccination. Masking. Distancing. Quaratining. Why do people do the things they do and not do the things they don't? When was the last time you made a decision that was totally unaffected by a hundred other things, big or small?

Not a confession!! Okay so maybe you or one of your followers could reply and help me because I’m lost and confused but where the heck are people getting their info from?? I’ve seen people posting abour how there’s a route coming for that guy from Atlas’ s2 like it’s fact and that a full pirate game is coming like it’s fact and lately the Evander route thing being fact but I can’t find any info on any of this? Is it just people passing speculation off as fact? I am so lost pls help

Alright my dear so let’s tackle this misinformation.

First let me say that a lot of this speculation comes from what some fans want combined with what Lovestruck has said during their Q&As on twitter. So if you want to see where some of this info is coming from check Lovestruck’s twitter.

The guy from Atlas S2 (Tyrian Aquila is his name) and Evander Sol do not have routes and as of yet are not confirmed to be getting routes. However I believe it was confirmed during a Q&A that Starship Promise is getting at least another route, so fans who want a route for Tyrian or Evander I’m sure are theorizing that one of them will be getting a route.

When asked specifically about a Tyrian route the producers responded with a thinking face emoji. So that’s not a confirmation but I’m sure some fans took it that way.

As far as a pirate series goes I haven’t heard a thing about that. Lovestruck recently sent out that survey to vote on/help pick the theme of the next series and not a single theme option in the survey involved pirates. But I do know a lot of fans who would like a pirate themed series so again it’s likely just other fans theorizing about getting a pirate series.

Also related to pirates: Joaquin did recently get put back on the update schedule and he is a pirate but that’s as close to an official pirate themed story on Lovestruck.

My New Year resolution of 2020

I strongly believe the people are tired of my story because six evil governments have run out of their dirty tricks and crappy ploys. However, six junk leaders are still not tired of doing joint-tortures and joint-persecutions against me. That’s why I still have this 5th New Year resolution. Can I have another one or how long can I live? Only God knows and six junk leaders know.

If my case happens in any dictatorship country, that is not strange. However, it has happened in America-a so called free and democratic country for so long.

Ok, long story short. I wrote a book titled “The Bridge” that just communicates my personal opinion of general culture and business environment in China that China government perceives it may have negative impacts. Then Singapore government was played and used by China government to persecute me in Singapore; then Canada government was played and used by Singapore government and China government to persecute me in Canada after I fled from Singapore; then America governments have been played and used by Singapore government, China government and Canada government to persecute me in America after I fled from Canada; AT&T has been played and used by Singapore government, China government, Canada government and U.S government to discredit me and add salts to my deeply wounds caused by four governments.

Because they think maybe one day I may not resist temptation of drug and sex. Then U.S government has sound ground to deport me. However, I have strong ability of “Self-control” given by God. The people may still remember his case (I believe his parents never forget). Did Otto die “mysteriously” after coming back to America shortly? His doctors checked he did not have any physical trauma. So, why? The answer is obvious. That’s why six evil governments have worked in concert to torture me endlessly because they know I cannot survive for too long for inner wounds.

-“America dream”: Did I come here to pursue “America dream?” Not at all. Otherwise, why did I leave America in year 2001? I came here due to excessive hardships in Canada. The irony thing is, based on America governments’ point of view, my “America dream” is to find a homeless to marry. Wow!

-Alternatives: To show their hypocrisy, America governments seem “nice” and often offer me ridiculous “alternatives”. As a response, I offer alternatives to America governments too: 1st, “mysterious” murder; 2nd, lynch; 3rd, bankruptcy. City of Sacramento can file bankruptcy to California Judicial Branch; California State government can file bankruptcy to U.S Judicial Branch; U.S government can file bankruptcy to International Court of Justice; 4th, public hearing. I am under intense public scrutiny in America, even including shower and sex. What’s your conclusion on me, Donald Trump, Gavin Newsom and Darrell Steinberg? You can choose any media in America and have a public debate to let the people know “Who I am?” if you have courage. I welcome any comments, questions, especially criticism.
