Do you have any pink genre recs in terms of music? I want to get more into the genre.
-Hypermobile Françoise anon
hello!!! do you have any idea how hard this is for me to answer. i love rambling and being pedantic and going off on tangents. almost as much as i love punk music...
tl;dr i compiled a playlist for you, containing 3 songs from (most of) the bands mentioned below, plus a few extra from miscellanious artists bc 54 is my lucky number. it was hard to choose just 3 from some of my faves but i feel like this is a good introduction. long post to follow <3
instead of simply giving you a list and sending you on your merry way, i am absolutely going to spout off bc thats what i do and ur gonna regret asking. do you think you were gonna get off that easy? you absolute fool. sit ur ass down ur about to get schooled.
disclaimer; this isn't exhaustive. i'm not rattling off every single punk artist that's ever existed. just a few of my favorites.
the clash, the quintessential punk band in my opinion. defined the genre and embodied the political ethos. explored different subgenres througout their expansive discography. they were probably my first introduction to music as a whole since they're my dad's favorite band. i may be biased but i'd definitely say start with the clash. i'd recommend listening to their third album, london calling, first.
the pogues - the folk punk band of all time. NOT folk-punk like some smelly white man with dreadlocks screaming over poorly-tuned guitar. you'll know exactly what i mean when you hear it. they have a unique sound that just can't be replicated. and shane macgowan is actually such a beautiful person. their lyrics are also politically tinged, kinda gritty and edgy (i.e. gratuitous slurs) so not for senstive ears.
(i actually have a playlist of my fave pogues/shane macgowan songs)
the cure, in my opinion, invented goth or at least popularized it. their earlier stuff had more of a punk sound but every one of their albums is a perfect 10 to me. they're one of my favorite bands of all time and i could go on about them for hours so i'll leave it there. joy division, also more goth/post-punk but i love them, i have one of their album covers tattooed on my forearm lmao 19 year old decisions. no regrets (i also love the smiths, but they're not really punk punk.)
before you ask, no sex pistols!!! don't get me started on how much i hate the sex pistols i will throw up! god they suck. to me at least.
a lot of punks also listen to ska - no, not that kind of ska. 70/80s ska that originated from rocksteady/reggae. some of my faves in that arena being madness, the specials, bad manners, and the beat.
and as for across the pond - american punk artists.
johnny cash. no, seriously. man was punk before punk was defined.
my favorite band is probably social distortion. they're pretty different than those mentioned above, owing to their unmistakable americana sound and aesthetic. to me they're the quintessential rockabilly revival band, heavily influenced by country and blues. great guitar licks. think wistful and reckless all at once.
their frontman mike ness is an outrageously gorgeous man. he has two solo albums that absolutely slap. the happiest day of my life was seeing them live a couple years ago and he winked right at me - i promise i'm not delusional i swear he really did. ok i digress.
dead kennedys - hilarious lyrics and sick ass bass lines, very political and generally pretty iconic. one of my dad's faves. the cramps and the misfits. two bands overlapping goth + punk + psychobilly. pioneers of a campy subgenre known as horror-punk. i also really like danzig, the misfits frontman's solo career.
the velvet underground/lou reed - great example of american proto-punk. very NYC vibes. the pixies are a more grungy, later punk band. one of my mommy's favorites <3 i would unironically name my child velouria. definitely iconic but i find them overplayed sometimes, as in you've probably heard them at the grocery store.
this barely scratches the surface btw but i think that about covers it for today. sorry if i bored you to death pls come back and keep me company. peace and love on planet mpregfrance <3

Horror Media Recs
because I've gotten a few questions about my inspiration for the Hunted series :)
Fics
Irreplaceable by Irishgrlnextdoor
(Batman) Very creepy. Love the ghosts, and Bruce's slow realization as to what's going on. Short read but it accomplishes a LOT of dread in 3k. Can't recommend this one enough
Breath Hot, Blood Red by shipyrds
(Batman) This one makes me want to SCREAM. Phenomenal batfam dynamics. Made my skin crawl. The writing??? The Descriptions?? I want to eat this fic. It is good. Bruce is painfully in character and the sense of loss and permanent damage from this fic despite the hopeful note of the ending. Just goes so hard istg
The Weeping Siren by Galaxythreads
(MCU) Tense, scary. I've reread this fic a normal amount of times. The atmosphere created is immaculate, the pacing incredible, the plot layered and action-packed. Plus, excellent Sif & Loki characterization to boot. Galaxythreads writes whump like nobody's business.
Comics:
The Doom That Came to Gotham
'nuff said, it's a classic. Love the art, love the plot. Love that ending. Who can remiss a bit of a tragedy?
The Cult
Thinking of a specific few panels in particular, but this comic is excellent, excellent Bruce whump. Plus Jason being a cute little baby Robin that is so helpful :)) Ends with Batman driving a tank through Gotham City, what more could you possibly want from a comic?
Black Mirror
Dick as Batman? Check. Creepy mystery? Check. Awesome imagery and fun little rogue gallery nudges. Uh huh. Can't miss
Red Rain, Blood Storm, and Crimson Mist
Probably better thought of as the Batman & Dracula trilogy. Woowee the art goes hard and the vampires are COOL.
Constantine
Thinking of the original hell blazer comics, but also fondly of the 2015/2016 series. Constantine is clever, witty, and always manages to make it out by the skin of his teeth. Good character to get into.
Movies:
Smile (2022)
Uh. The Monster. The slow decent in the madness. Won't spoil it but uh. Yeah. This
The Feast (2021, directed by Lee Haven Jones)
Very artistic movie. Will admit that I had no idea what was going on until the last thirty minutes of it. Lots of build up to the gore but when it hits it HITS. It works hard on the building tension and dread, and absolutely none of the characters are in any way likeable.
Abigail (2024)
I only saw this a few weeks ago, so it doesn't technically count as inspiration for Vrykolakas or Deimos, but this MOVIE bro. It was everything I could possibly want in a movie. Absolutely phenomenal honestly. It was hilarious.
From
This is a series, and if you're a fan of the Walking Dead it is the series for you. Fucking bone-chilling.
Books + Extras
Will admit I've not read many horror books, but I have read The Ocean at the End of the Lane per recommendation of a commenter, and started The Magnus Archives, both of which I am enjoying. Also, predictably, Welcome to Night Vale is something I'd suggest to any and everyone who's interested in having a good time.
If you have horror recs, I'd love to hear them :) Thank you for reading <3

Rules: Recommend us 3 of YOUR fics: 1 that is “most popular” and 2 that are “hidden gems!” Then tag some folks.
Thank you very much @wanderingbandurria for the tag!! I appreciate you, friend <3
So for my "most popular" fic, I think it's actually for him. which is kind of lovely. I think it probably ticks the most checkboxes for folks in general without being full of things people maybe aren't cool with. And also getting to hear about Remus being an Actual Stupid Teenager is always fun (no offense to any teens out there, this is me @ me, the stories are all at least half based on true stories among my own friends lol.)
Now for the two fics that I think are a bit underrated, I'm going in terms of overall stats vs how much I, personally, enjoy them lol.
First and foremost, there's Where the Wild Thyme Grows. I had such a blast writing this one, and like... if you're down for Witcher vibes (which were accidental, but exist nonetheless) and Chaotic!Neutral Remus, Dad!Sirius, and the most wholesome Harry/Ron friendship you ever did see, all framed within a high fantasy/horror mashup, then please give this a look -- even if just out of sheer curiosity. XD
With the last one... if I go by straight stats, then it's three knocks upon the door. HOWEVER, that one does tend to get recced around the femslash circles which makes me feel all the warm squishy feelings about the best murderwives. So because of that, while it's getting a mention here (because I adore it) it's not the one I'm going to call out and therefore link.
That dubious honor instead goes to Ouroboros. This one is what happens when you take anger and grief and you roll it into a little case study on forgiveness and stuff all of that into a story about Remus and Lyall. It's easily one of the most emotionally devastating pieces I think I've written, so enter with caution and mind the tags. BUT if you're up for some Big Existential Sad with a soft landing then this might scratch the itch.
And if you do happen to read any of them, I'd love to know what you think! Whether that's in comments on AO3 or if you just wanted to reach out here. I'm always happy to hear from people! :)
As for tagging... I am going to tag @inmyownlittlecorner5, @bluesundaycake, and @the-francakes -- though feel free to pass your tag on if you've already done this! <3 And of course anyone else who would like to jump on the train (I would have tagged more but I'm trying to be cognizant of the fact that it's NaNo month and y'all are busy with Too Many Fests and stuff okay. XD)

7?? 💓
7. Any media/fandom you will avoid at all costs?
personally speaking i make a point of avoiding n.eil g.aiman and anything related to him. i know there are legitimate criticisms against him which i cant remember atm (bad memory day </3) but my dislike for him goes back longer than people have made posts about it. it all started when i was reading this anthology of short horror fiction and i understand that the thing about anthologies is that due to the variety there are bound to be some authors and/or selections i won't like for whatever reason and that's just part of the process. HOWEVER. at that point i had never read one of his works before but i'd heard a lot about him. so i read the selection and it sucked. i don't remember what it was about but i do remember it was a challenge to slog through and i was grateful for when it was over. i was disappointed because even then he'd been hyped up and maybe this was just a bad selection of his work but in any case it did not make a good impression on me and i moved on. flash forward to at least a few years later and i'm reading a different anthology. "horror of the decade" ed. by ellen datlow, something i never finished which requires its own post but to sum up some of her selections DEFINITELY should not have been hailed "best of the decade." they shouldn't have been selected as good horror at all if in my opinion. but anyway g.aiman was on the bookjacket and i was like *sigh* okay well im not really looking forward to it but i guess i'll give it a shot especially since it was one of the shorter entries. and then i read it and it fucking sucked. it was ass. it was some stupid story about sailors lost at sea who resorted to cannibalism or something and i wanted to like it but i just couldn't get behind his writing. at that point, to me, it felt like he'd just been included so that his name could be slapped on the cover and they selected one of his works at random. it felt a lot like quality didn't matter for some of the selections as much as the name or maybe filling up space. or perhaps it's the editor's personal choice which is why i dislike datlow as an editor. and dont get me wrong there was a few REALLY, REALLY good selections in that volume but g.aiman's was NOT one of them. and it just felt like an utter waste of time and a joke because there was nothing impressive or noteworthy about his writing or storytelling ability and what always makes my dislike worse is when people's fanbases have to hype them up as a god-send or revolutionary. now i am aware that maybe these were just. bad selections and not representative of his full body of work and to that i say too bad i dont care. and i am also aware that there are probably fans of his i am mutuals with who love his work which is fine great good for them this is not directed @ them but it's irrelevant. because i think he sucks and he's overrated and exacerbates it all is that he's on tumblr as like the resident uwu celebrity author or whatever and it's like. you come onto the silly little blogging site where i reblog silly images with my friends and mutuals and make me not only hear about him but make me see his TAKES? his posts? JAIL! JAIL FOR 1000 YEARS! and in any case it doesn't really matter the block button is free and filtering tags exist but also if ONE more person recs his books to me i will explode. i dont want to read him i do not care i dont think he's more noteworthy or talented than anyone else on the scene (not that i am aware of the scene) i just do not care and do not want to hear about him. yeehaw <3

Hello! Your Secret Santa Again ❄️ Many apologies for the long silence I hope you're doing well!
Thank you for the Exo vid recommendations in your last answer! I haven't seen that many of the concert stages yet and both the ones you named were amazing!! that acoustic medley though!! But since you asked, right now my favorite stages are... maybe the 2019 Smtown in Japan Gravity and the KBS awards For Life?
You also picked the sweetest Suho moments, very fun to revisit. <3 Our leader really puts his heart into everything he does. I haven't started his drama yet either although it looked exciting! I have been watching Xiumin's ceo-dol mart, I just have the last couple episodes left. What have you been watching lately?
My favorite bbh moments... are many lol. I love the late night car ride lives he was doing for a while just singing and driving.
Favorite Kyunsoo songs... all of Empathy? I also really like Wonder off the new album.
I don't know that I have a SHINee bias, I feel like it changes every day but I adore them all. For WayV either Ten or Kun (speaking of lovable dorky leaders).
I like SuJu as well (so many good songs!!) I haven't heard any VIXX- what's your song rec? For Pentagon now is probably a rough time to get into them haha but I would recommend looking up Shine and Naughty Boy those are my favorites, or maybe Daisy or Dr. Bebe if you like a more intense concept.
I am not really a true horror fan but I really like the sort of offbeat gothic creepiness (think Addams Family or SHINee Married to the Music energy) and I like having a season to play that up. I don't have any halloween plans, but I decorated! What about you? Do you celebrate Halloween?
Re: your present, I wanted to ask if there was anything specific you might want? I mostly do digital art, but I can also do traditional drawing, moodboards, edits...I already have some ideas, but lmk if there's anything you had in mind!
Talk soon! <3
Hi!! ❣️ Oh it's definitely okay! And please accept my apologies as well - it's been rather hectic lately and I didn't have wi-fi for a bit and I caught a small cold etc. so I took way longer to answer you than I intended to... I hope that this doesn't make you feel too stressed about my gift? I'd love to receive anything really - I did pick fanart on the sign-up sheet, but I like all the options you mentioned so please feel free to do whatever you feel inspired to do! ✨
How have you been since our last talk? Hearing about you decorating during Halloween made me smile (>v<)🧡 I don't celebrate it myself, (I've been getting ready to celebrate Advent instead hahah) but I do like the aesthetic of it somewhat? And I get what you mean about the Shinee/Addams vibe! There's some humour to the creepiness, which is really nice! ✨ Still, I have to admit that I like watching/listening to darker horror movies/tales in every once in a while, especially if the stories are good (>v<;)
Oh, don't mention it! I'm just happy to hear that you liked those stages as well 💗 and you picked some great ones too! I tend to forget to look for SMTown videos and rewatch the music show stages for some reason, but now I have the perfect opportunity to do so 💫
Aahfbdf your kind words has me smiling really wide over here (>///<)💖 He really does, and I love and admire him so much for it 💕 I'd love to talk to you about Myeon's drama when we get to watch it! And I'd also love to hear what you thought about Xiu's drama - I've seen some gifsets from it and it looks fun! ✨ Sadly I haven't been able to watch anything lately, but I really want to get back into it! (>^<) I've been playing some Ni no Kuni though, maybe that counts ahah
That's a lovely answer! I also love his spontaneous lives where he's just being himself, it's so genuine somehow 💖 You also picked some great songs of Soo's, I can't help but agree with you on loving the entire "Empathy" album! 💚 I have to ask you a hard question now - what is your favourite Baek album? And favourite songs sung by him?
I understand that! They're a bunch of lovable dorks, who's not to adore? (the same goes for pretty much all the groups hahah)💕 I think it's the same with me regarding WayV though, I also gravitate towards Ten and Kun whenever I stop to think about my bias (>w<;)
ooh you're also an elf? I have to ask about the songs you think are good then ahdfbf 🎵Thank you for the Pentagon recommendations! I actually heard Shine and Dr Bebe before, I just forgot? I do like both though! And Naughty boy is so cute, while Daisy really is more intense - but definitely my style! 💗 For Vixx, I got into them thanks to Fantasy, and I still think of it as a favourite along with Shangri-La and Hyde - I like their dark concept, but at the same time some of their gentler songs are the sweetest I've ever heard, like Love letter and The rain! 💌
Thank you for answering all my questions so far, and I'm sorry again for taking so long to reply - I really enjoy reading your messages and I look forward to talking to you again soon ❣️ Take care!!

Aliens, banshee, enchant, fantasy, Gothic, and macabre for the ask game!!
👻🎃🧟‍♂️Spooky Szn Asks🧟‍♂️🎃👻
Aliens - Do you believe in extraterrestrial life?
of COURSE i do 🛸 but i think it's probably something no human has ever thought of
Banshee - Have you ever had a paranormal encounter? If so, do tell!
not really? there was this one time as a kid, i was refusing to go to bed or something and i heard a whisper in my ear and that scared the living daylights outta me. My mom of course, said it was bc i was being naughty and adult me still has no fucking idea what that was, i wanna say it was just like when ur ear pops even though i remember it sounded like talking, but y'know, um, i don't think i wanna know.
Enchant - Do you believe in magic?
comes and goes? or, more like, okay, my culture is a VERY superstitious one and 'witches' are 100% a part of our rural communities in one way or another. the thing is tho, i don't believe you can just chant something and get a specific result, but i do believe there is SOMETHING that comes out of it when the right person says it with the right vibe or whatever. Like i don't think the words in the cursed spell books hold any power but i still know i will NEVER touch one of those.
Fantasy -  What’s your favorite mythical character?
I think I had mentioned La Mona already, so this time I'll say El Cadejo. i LOVE stories of this one, both documented last century and contemporary bc they're very illustrative of the anxieties and systems of oppresion different latine people experience at different times, one day you'll hear it was a drunk husband that saw it, the next, a kid out past curfew and it gets really interesting when it comes from your friends or their families. It's also interesting how the dog changes for each person and also i just love the idea of finding a huge dog with red glowing eyes in the middle of the night.
Gothic - Who’s your favorite macabre figure from history?
Elizabeth Báthory, you know i'm a slut for vampires and the story that gets repeated as her life is so interesting and has so much potential. But mostly, i could drive myself crazy just thinking of what the fuck actually happened and how much of the myth got to her while she was still alive, you know, in the same way that Marie hears about the "let them eat cake" thing in the movie by Sofia Coppola. Like what was her life ACTUALLY like and was it just political stuff that drove the people to come up with the accusations or was she noticeably different? did she have certain behaviors that inspired some if not all of that?
Macabre - What’s your favorite part of spooky season?
Endless horror media recs EVERYWHERE! i wish we had that all year <3 it's mostly an online season for me since my country doesn't have Halloween, but if we had it like in the US i'd LOVE going to haunted houses or corn mazes

I'm actually quite surprised that you're not into romance!!! I mean, considering you write x reader fanfics, i thought you would like it 😅
But!!! Since you like The Guest, i was wondering if you can recommend me kdramas like it?? The only one i've seen is Daebak Real Estate which is pretty similar but just less scary (in my opinion)
Or you can just recommend me any kdramas you like!!! The current on-going ones doesn't pique my interest that much, except for Yumi's Cells, it looks very cute!!!
-Qtie anon ●v●
Qtie Anon, my lovely ♡ so glad to hear from you once more!
Yes, it's kind of an odd thing to not like. It makes watching shows with my sister really difficult 😅 but I'm not 100% opposed to romance, I just don't want it pushing the plot. Romance in life is inevitable so of course shows will have it, but I don't want my horror or thriller or sci-fi show to focus on a romance plot, y'know?
I'm not really good at romantic / fluffy fics, though. It's definitely my weakest point! That and dialogue haha.
Kdramas like The Guest 🤔 well... I don't watch too many kdramas 😅 but I think The Divine Fury will be an amazing watch! It's a movie with Park Seo Joon and Woo Do Hwan and the clips I've seen look quite fun! Svaha: The Sixth Finger is a movie too, and it was pretty good. Also OCN shows in general. A lot of them have that grittier feel to them.
I haven't seen Daebak Real Estate. Is it good? I'd love to watch another show like The Guest!
One of my all time favourite shows right now (kdrama or otherwise) is Strangers From Hell!! I've watched it 3x and am on another watch-through right now. Absolutely love, love, love it. I even made a post about why people should watch it on my main! I'll try to find the link.
Tumblr media
I'm not very good at finishing shows... but the notable kdramas I've actually finished are Save Me (spoiler alert: I'm obsessed with cults), Sweet Home, Alice In Borderland (jdrama), Kingdom (I'm obsessed!!), and the first season of Voice.
Save Me and Strangers From Hell are both OCN shows like The Guest, and I'd recommend them both! Save Me is about a family that, after facing tragedy, gets lured into a cult. It's such a ride from start to finish and the more I think about it, the more I enjoy it.
You might have heard about Sweet Home and Alice In Borderland. They're both based off mangas/webtoons and they became quite popular on here! AIB's premise has a sliver of similarity to Squid Game, which I just finished a few days ago. I preferred AIB but Squid Game was also really fun and I rec them both! The ending of both Squid Game and Sweet Home disappointed me (don't hate me y'all) but I'm holding out hope for the next seasons to make up for it! Plus Song Kang is my son so he can do no wrong. Seriously though, Sweet Home is absolutely amazing and I plan to rewatch it even if the ending wasn't my cup of tea.
Kingdom... oh wow 😍 Kingdom, The Witcher, and Strangers From Hell are rare because I actually binged the shows. I recommend all 3!
I know you asked for kdramas, but Animal World is a Chinese film I've watched multiple times. It's like AIB and Squid Game in that you have to play games to survive. It's also like AIB in that it's based off a manga (Kaiji).
And if you like depressing films about nuclear disasters (I LOVE disaster films, especially nuclear / radiation-based), then I highly recommend Pandora! And speaking of disaster films, The Wandering Earth is a Chinese film that I've rewatched a few times. I lovelovelove sci-fi so this one is an absolute hit with me.
And to lighten the mood... Secrets in the Hot Spring is a hilarious Taiwanese film! I've watched it so many times and it's never not funny. And I also wanna throw Pee Mak in as it's a fun Thai comedy.
As for shows I'm currently watching... I feel pretty confident that Life (medical kdrama with the loml, Lee Dong Wook) and Psychopath Diary (pretty light-hearted dark comedy) will be shows I end up recommending. The endings would have to be really bad for me to suddenly stop liking them 😂
. . .
WOW. I am SO sorry!! I didn't mean to make this post so long 😭
Anyway... these are my recommendations 😱💕 hope you are well, qtie, and have a blessed weekend! ♡

It’s California anon again!
I work with a lot of different types of birds (crows and macaws are probably the most easily recognized/exciting), raccoons, prairie dogs, mice, skunks, dogs, cats, possums, groundhogs, and more that I cannot currently think of. I don’t know if you consider any of those animals to be cool, but I do and I love it. My dream animal to work with would probably be a fennec fox, a big cat, or an elephant. I just really love the mammals.
I’ve asked but my family doesn’t like talking about that stuff. My dad in particular gets really depressed when I ask about his childhood/parents.
Newsies is the best! It was my first intro to Broadway musicals and I love it. It’s a generally sweet, upbeat piece that always puts me in a good mood. And I’ll definitely check out that song; thanks for the rec!
I don’t have Amazon prime so I’m not sure when I’ll get a chance to watch it (I mean my brother would probably let me use his account. I should ask him)
I love hearing about your family! You all sound so amazing and fun
Oh I’ve never been to NYC but I dream about seeing a Broadway show there! That sounds amazing!!
And Isaiah Jesus is so underrated as a character. He’s actually really interesting/cool!
And Aw your mom sounds amazing!!
Okay more questions:
Would you want a pet and if so what would you want and what would you name them?
Favorite book?
Favorite fictional character from a movie, tv show, and book?
What did you used to want to be when you were a kid?
I love hearing about you; this is so fun!
Ooooh, I love all of that for you! I had to look up the fennec fox and it's so cute! Also, I'd like to amend my favorite animal and add the maned wolf. I saw one in person at the San Diego Zoo and it reminded me how obsessed I used to be with those tall mofos!
I'm sorry your dad gets so sad, maybe he needs more time?
If I had a pet, I'd either want a really chill, cute cat that I would name Ned Stark's Bastard, or a protective dog that I'd probably call Concrete. But I'm afraid of 99.9% of dogs I met, so the dog one is probably unrealistic.
My favorite book is "Books of Blood vol 1-3" by Clive Barker. He's my horror writing inspiration!
Oooh, fav fictional character...what a great question! Movie: O'Ren Ishii from Kill Bill
Show: Naevia from Spartacus
Book: (I choose my favorite graphic novel) Cutter from Elfquest
I always wanted to be a teacher as a kid. My mom's a teacher, my grandma was a teacher and a principal, and I love learning. I taught for 6 years and it was... the educational system is just so broken, I fell out of love with it.
