LU Breakfast club AU idea

As said in a recent post, my autistic ass is going nuts over breakfast club AUs at the moment, so I thought I could do a Linked Universe one. Idk if I will do anything beyond this post, but still :)

(Ig this could also be a highschool au if you want it to be that way. Also it won't follow too much of the breakfast club, just the core concept bc it's fun)

Wind: Freshman. Got caught snatching some stuff. Having the time of his life with the older grades in detention.

Wild: Didn't get caught doing anything. He kinda just snuck in to see if he could. Well known for pulling off strange stunts like that. Knew Twilight before detention, but didn't pay him much mind. Hung out with Warriors a tiny bit.

Legend: Mouthed off to some authorities. Nothing new to him, and has been in detention plenty of times before this. Tends to use magic for stupid little stunts like stealing screws. Will antagonize anybody and everybody.

Warriors: Beat up a rather popular girl (it's later learned she attempted to S/A him, but unfortunately the principal took her side) Head of a sports team (I haven't decided which one) He ends up in a lot of arguments with Legend. Wild isn't registered on his sports team, he'll just kinda show up randomly before disappearing, hence why Wars knows him.

Update: I think I may have Warriors fence

Hyrule: Got caught bringing a dagger to school. Refused to answer why. Before then he wasn't well known and just did his own thing. Enjoyed messing around with Wild.

Sky: Super sweet and soft kid. Well liked by the teachers. However, Dark seems a little wary of him. Begging the question: What in Hylia's name did he do? (It later becomes an ever concerning guessing game between the rest of the group, seriously, what did this kid do???)

Dark Link: The vice principal because why not? Overall just as big of a jerk as in the film.

Time, Twilight and Four: Not sure what I want to do with them just yet. Time may fill in a similar (but slightly more affectionate) role of the janitor.

Notes: I still want there to be magic despite it "Technically" being a modern AU. I just think it would be fun if Four ends up splitting in the hallway, while Shadow is trying to wrangle him but without fail "Four" is still in the hallway. Also imagine what a bored Wild in detention with a Sheakia Slate could get up to lol.

cloaked, laptop (and life) update as I promised!

numero uno- I do not yet have a laptop. I do have a hunk of junk I refuse to call a laptop, bestowed on me by my dad because why get a working, fine laptop when you can use a barely working, in-its-deathbed one. joy. I will probably buy one the week after next anyway but in the meantime that’s the sitch. unfortunately.

this brings me to my second point- I am surprisingly almost done with the next chapter of cloaked (its gonna take me like 2 more days to finish this last bit off and a quick edit then I’ll be done) sooo if the schedule proceeds as per I might try to see if I can publish it on my phone or iPad lol. wish me luck ig (also hereforth saying you people have 1-2 weeks to catch up on cloaked and comment before I post the new chapter)

third point: life update! as fast as this next chapter has been the next one unfortunately will not be as fast. the reason why this one was so fast was bc I was essentially jobless for these past few days. with basically nothing to do except wait for my masters prog to start I just decided to write and write lol. my school starts next week so its gonna be hard to write after that. plus we’re hitting the climax of cloaked and I wanna do my icemavved version of the movie (bc cloaked is a tgm au in case anybody forgot lmao) justice. so I’m gonna properly take my time with it to make sure people get what they deserve with it.

fourth point: I am officially starting to write outtakes for the fic for scenes that didn’t make it into the story but I feel like i wanna share them with the class. don’t have a fixed timeline for them so I’m writing them concurrently and will post after the fic is done. hit me w asks if you have requests for any scenes you wanna read about!

It's been so crazy lately, I'm not even sure where to start or how to capture everything. Ig I'll go for broad strokes?

Work

It's been so busy. Bit annoyed because I took over an important project for someone for two weeks while they were on vacation, and it's been a little intense. But it's been going well, so I'm glad for that. I am a little... Hm. No one has ever done my work while I'm away, lol! But mostly I like contributing and I like my teammates, so I'm just grousing.

Creating

I'm working on the next chapter of Infinite Possibilities for Odaiba Day. In it, Koushiro tells Eimi what happened during Tri, specifically so he can explain why the Chosen/Bureau relationship is where it is now (it's not in the best place). It turns out that condensing the events of six movies into a few thousand words is really hard, especially with all the different factions! So I MADE A CHART, I think you will love it, lol! That's where I am in my fanfiction career, chart making (she says, as if she hasn't already made several).

It's been going... Fine. Not great, not bad. I haven't had as much time/mental space lately.

Life

Holy crap man. A family member has cancer, and I don't want to get into details bc... You know, it's their situation, not mine. But they removed the cancerous organ, only to find that it spread to a non-removable organ. So... Well, they will learn their options before long. We are hoping for a non-chemo option.

My first reaction is wanting to do something myself, wanting to help or make it better. You certainly can help a person with cancer in terms of practical and emotional support, but you can't... You know... Medically help. I keep googling how to help and what to say and not to say to a cancer patient. That's so human, you know? How do I help? Tell me how to help. It's sweet. Humans are sweet.

I'm feeling a lot of feelings, and I can't imagine how my family member feels.

It's jarring to talk about my own little stuff after something so much worse, but...

My energy has been just awful lately. I've been dragging my butt through life for what feels like... Idk, three months or so? I just haven't been feeling well, although I'm not, like, sick. I'm not sure what to do, if I'm honest. Very recently, we have been trying to eat better, and I did a not successful exercise today, lmao! I just hope I can physically perk up.

I had a small emergency last week. I was trying to groom a clump out of my (absurdly beloved) cat's fur, and I cut his skin. I can't even describe it- the skin just, like, unzipped in front of my eyes. I basically just froze and shut down, my husband called vets. We lost a lot of local vets over the pandemic, and the local ER was closed for renovation that day, so it was nerve wracking, but we got him seen. Meanwhile, I had a hugely busy workday- I had to keep that important project going. But we went to the ER and they said it only needed staples, not suturing. I feel so guilty. The vet said that she's done it herself to a dog, you try to help them and they wiggle, it's common. Luckily, Darcy isn't scared of me and acts the same (in fact, he's sitting with me now). It's healing nicely and we will remove the staples later this week or next week. The vet said Darcy was a good boy, and the only problem was that he purred too loud for them to hear his heartrate. I worked pretty late that day.

There's been a lot of stuff at that level (sort of like... a mild emergency) going on lately. I don't have the wherewithal to list everything, but that's how life has been lately.

I have read less than one page of Divergent, and I already have questions. Why would anyone in their right mind go to the abnegation faction? It's not like you are given one at random you can CHOOSE. And you choose to go to the impoverished area of idk Chicago or wherever this thing is set in? I already know how this will go even though the only thing I know is that there's a guy called 4. That's it. And I guess he is from a different faction, Bravery or what it's called most likely, and he falls in love with Trice but because he is not in Abnegation, in fact he has to be in an above average faction, they can't be together. And in the end they bring down the evil government that divides them so they can have better control over them and live happily ever after. I think Veronica Roth (?) wanted for Beatrice to live in poverty, because she wanted Beatrice to mirror Katniss from The Hunger Games, because these books were all the hype in the early 2010s, but it doesn't work that well because her family chose their way of life.

Edit 1: I am like 25% done, after Tris was beaten up by Peter, and I gotta say - will it be a love triangle, really? Yep, that's Hunger Games with less stakes over here. Hopefully she chooses Al tho. I like him.

Edit 2: Yep, a love triangle. I just read about Edward's and Myra's departure, and I have to ask, can I like Al or will I get heartbroken. He seems like such a genuine guy!!! I want him to stay please Al just kill a couple people.

Edit 3: I fucking hate everyone. And everything. Well apparently there is no love triangle. Or will Will step in to volunteer as a trisfucker? Anyways I don't know if you know... AL DESERVED BETTER AND YOU CAN'T CONVINCE ME OTHERWISE. I am so so close at dnf because I am dealing with full on grief. Al was the only person I came close to liking until now. In some sense, I'm happy. He didn't live long enough to see himself become the villain ig. But please Al, come back to life.

not that i need to clarify and not that anyone needs to know more detail but. to clarify from my post last night: my brother did nothing wrong by showing his music to me AT ALL. but there are two things that are hard about it and i hate to say it but the bigger one is… he has the same spark i used to have and feel like ive lost forever snd him making unfathomably beautiful music makes me… jealous. or at the very least mournful about what happened to my own musical / poetic pursuits and skills and how i feel like i will never be able to do anything like that again bc ive lost myself and feel detached from my life and am frozen like a dear in headlights. and the second thing is he’s in a lot of pain rn with his own situation and we don’t communicate abt it except in ways that are extremely like.. strained and sheepish and i feel like a bad big sister for not being more affectionate and like trying to force through the barrier and be lovey dovey with him basically bc i think he needs / wants that even though we’re both weird about it. lol

heya! the name's nick. i've been on tumblr since like...2011 or so? i was really big into it in my college years (2012-2017) but after The Great Tumblr Porn Ban of 2017 I've sorta been drifting in an out. When The Great Twitter Debacle of 2022 happened, I decided to migrate back on a new account so I could start fresh.

this account was immediately suspended because of my side-blog. which was a bit too unsafe for work for tumblr's guidelines ig 🙄 not mentioning that they had just recently updated their policy and everything i was posting was PERFECTLY FINE under them but w/e

so i started another one lmao and that's the one that you're looking at right now! my other account has since been restored but at that point I was already situated over here so like. whatever i guess. lol

i'm currently 28, and bisexual. semi-recently out of the closed as bi, actually. for years i identified as gay, but over time i started realizing "actually...i do kinda like girls?" i still identified as "gay" cuz it was easier than saying "so like i'm bi-sexual but mostly homo-romantic but also maybe potentially demi-sexual but only when it comes to real people?" then around 2020 it just kinda clicked with me, and the label of "bisexual" just felt right

anywho you didn't come here for my full life story. here's just a little bit more about me:

i'm a total nerd. i love video games, playing Yugioh, DND (just starting to get into that one), etc. i'm a writer. i've written several fanfics (some of which i'm really proud of, some of which i'm...less), and have a goal of one day publishing a novel (my main genre is YA contemporary with queer themes and characters). i'm a musician. i actually got my bachelor's degree in music (BA in Music). my main instrument is drums/percussion, but i'm learning a bit of guitar and can play a little bit of piano. i'm also a composer/songwriter, though haven't been writing as much these days. if i write anything cool i'll be sure to post it here!

Hi everyone this is @fictional-character-whore with a brand new masterlist! I’m starting to get back into the fanfiction writing grind and i decided to create an official masterlist that i will update whenever i post fanfics or writings.

Perhaps there were certain few Gladers that still made contact with her during their days in the Maze, and perhaps one of them visited her more than the others. But when a Greenie enters the Glade and everything starts to change, will this mystery Glader reveal herself to help escape the Maze for good, or will she continue to hide from them all and risk both her freedom, friendships and possible a relationship?

Lydia expected these school holidays to be the same as every other, but what she didn’t know was that these holidays were going to change her life. Aliens were taking over planet earth and after following three kids into the woods and meeting a strange boy, the fate of the world somehow rest in their hands. hiori definitely thinks he’s going to have all cutesy pokémon given how adorable all of the babies are and then they evolve and are sooo scary and intimidating (except swanna who’s ironically the only one of the six that’s actually mean) HAHAHA omg otoya’s team acquisitions are so funny in the au i crack up thinking abt them…obviously froakie he just gets because it’s his starter and he’s from a ninja clan but then with ampharos it’s just because reader and co went to a farm for some reason?? and one of the mareeps was so obsessed with otoya that the farm was like “just take it” and otoya’s like “bro i don’t want it i can’t be seen with this 😟” but then the mareep is like “🥺💛🩵” and tullia’s like “yo don’t be a douche anyways it’ll evolve into an ampharos that’s strong” so otoya’s just like FINE I GUESS 😭 after that he’s given a happiny by a nurse joy that he rizzed up…he thinks it’s proof of rizz but apparently karasu overheard the nurse joy saying the owner abandoned the happiny because taking care of a baby pokémon is too much work so she gave it to otoya since he seemed trustworthy enough (her first choice was tullia but tullia already has a full team from the start so she wouldn’t be able to manage it) and he tells otoya and otoya (who was about to release the happiny lowkey) is immediately like “😱 bitch i’m a mother 😤 no drama 🤩” even though he lowkey makes tullia and karasu’s talonflame do most of the work of taking care of happiny 😩 then while they’re at yayoi’s gym otoya has a MASSIVE crush on yayoi so while tullia’s battling her (reader and karasu already have their badges so karasu stays to watch tullia and reader accompanies otoya) he goes to find a flying type to impress yayoi but it can’t be just ANY flying type it has to be a special one so he searches high and low until he finally finds a swablu which is pretty rare so he figures it works…however yayoi does not care whatsoever so now he just has a swablu on his team 😭 he gets the vulpix by buying one of chris prince’s online courses that come with a free egg for the top tier subscribes and he’s so excited because he thinks the egg will hatch into a magby (so he can eventually have a magmortar) or a torchic (so he can eventually have a blaziken) but then it hatches into a VULPIX and he reads the fine print and realizes that it says the eggs will hatch into random fire-type pokémon but not any of chris’s main pokémon so he’s FUMING that he wasted his money and he has one sided beef w chris prince now 😓 finally sylveon he’s SOOOO HYPE because he catches and eevee and he’s like “let’s go i’m going to get an umbreon” so tullia tells him he has to have a high friendship with his eevee and battle with it at night to achieve that so he brings eevee EVERYWHERE to ensure the friendship is maxed out…however by in-game mechanics and therefore in-verse laws sylveon takes precedence over espeon and umbreon 😰 so he’s just battling one evening with reader or something and then his eevee starts to glow and he’s like FINALLY but then it finishes evolving and turns out to be a sylveon and he just gives up

this is the website it’s super easy to use and intuitive as it also provides all of the pokémon there so you don’t have to keep googling online 🤩 i rlly liked using it to build everyone’s teams even though i didn’t use the analysis function as much with anyone but reader

THAT’S EXACTLY WHAT I WAS PICTURING like amidst all of the corruption and fighting and anarchy there’s also just randomly a market war going on between ness and gagamaru but it’s completely one sided because gagamaru is perfectly content with the 5 customers he currently has 😭

see reader and nagi have such an insane slow burn that even by the aegislash arc they’re still only marginally friendly rivals that save each other’s asses but aren’t really close (of mc trio and reader&co the only ones that actually are good friends are tullia + chigiri…otoya and karasu think mc trio are all goofy so they just bully them and whenever mc trio pulls up reader is always busy with nagi so she never becomes friends w the other two) so the “in order to escape this world we just have to be in love i suppose” is their rationalization for why they are a littleeee too eager to live out the plot line 😭

HELP POKÉMON AU KARASU FR IS JUST ALWAYS CATCHING STRAYS THOUGH like nagi innocently suggests that he might be dating reader and reader tweaks out, two-thirds of his team is just pokémon his sister rejected, and this random kid from his hometown would probably beat him in a battle if he ever cared enough to do so

I KNOW WHICH EP YOU MEAN that one was so cute…i feel like galvantula especially as a joltik just rode around on reader’s should and chattered angrily when people made fun of it LMAOAO it’s such a babyyyy but honestly it deserves to be sassy considering the work it puts in for the team 😓 plsss whenever reader releases gyarados the first thing it does is try to tackle her in a hug because it loves her sm and she has to be like “no baby you’re the size of a school bus please get off” it’s very uncharacteristic because most gyarados are very mean and angry but reader was so kind to it as a magikarp and never did anything to hurt it/put it in danger just for the sake of its evolution (since she basically gave up on it every evolving based on tullia’s and karasu’s advice) that her gyarados LOVES her

okay but i was on tik tok earlier and i saw this video and tbh the video itself is kinda irrelevant but the song??? (full audio apparently from a satosugu edit but hot take idgaf abt satosugu 😓) and i was like. reader and barou. IT’S READER AND BAROU. HE LOOKS LIKE THE REAL THING 😭😭😭😭😭😭

tbh i always got rid of moves that didn’t do damage in the game but according to the anime’s logic pokémon can learn more than four moves so gyarados can keep rain dance KFJDJS i can imagine gyarados doing the rain dance like “yay 😄 i’m helping y/n 🕺🏻” meanwhile the opposing pokémon is about to cry because a happy gyarados is so rare that they think her gyarados is just a new level of insanely mad 😭 also apparently gyarados can learn thunderbolt, thunder, and flamethrower (ostensibly because it’s supposed to be a sea serpent that brings storms and whatnot) so galvantula doesn’t have to carry COMPLETELY since gyarados can also use some electric attacks 🤩 that would be a really cool battle in the conference like maybe substitutions aren’t allowed so when reader sends out her gyarados against and sets up a rain dance her opponent (who’s possibly a water type trainer) is like “that won’t work this time 😌 rain dance makes my pokémon stronger too 😏 and you can’t switch out for your galvantula 🤓☝🏻” since they’ve studied her and seen her use that combo in past battles but instead of panicking reader’s just like “lol okay gyarados use thunder” and that’s the end of that 🥶

yeahh the first few gyms only have a couple of pokémon each i tried to distribute so it’s kinda even and moves up with the reader’s power scaling?? so the first gym has two, second and third have three, fourth and fifth have four, sixth and seventh have five, and the eighth and e4 have a full team of 6 (in the game only the champion and possibly your rival have full teams of 6 but given how good reader is + the different stakes of the world it made more sense for the final gym and e4 to have full teams)

i literally looked up a list of all normal types while picking his team and as SOON as i saw purugly i was like oh this is perfect…reo already has a persian so i couldn’t give one to adam blake sadly 😓 some of the repetitions had me tweaking i really wanted the ace of loki’s team to be a zebstrika in reference to his speed but chigiri already has one so now loki’s ace is his emolga!!

anri with an inkay and a little espurr (before they evolve) is such a cute image to me 🥹 inkay is such a random pokémon for the upside down thing too i wonder how the first person to get a malamar figured that specific mechanic out

honestly if the karasus weren’t so obviously bird themed i would’ve made yayoi a fighting type gym leader and snuffy the flying type e4 member (since his aura or symbol or whatever is an eagle i think) but hawlucha truly is sooo yayoi coded FJSKSKS and omg wait originally i was really set on chris prince being a fighting type specialist and luna was the fire type gym leader but then i couldn’t think of a type for snuffy and i was like “well ig fighting types fit with his whole discipline thing” so he got the fighting type designation…then i had to come up w smth for chris prince and the only types that were rlly left were ones that didn’t really fit him so i was like ok sorry luna but chris prince will be the fire type specialist!! and then i had to come up with the new type for luna and the first one i thought of was poison…i didn’t think it fit him too well but then when i started assigning pokémon i was like wait this COOKS like roserade tentacruel and scolipede especially have very strong luna vibes

DNDJSJS scrafty actually does give strong lorenzo energy maybe that’s why snuffy caught it /j 😭 tbh i just liked its typing (it’s technically 4x weak to fairy but reader doesn’t have any fairy types so she’s in the clear in terms of no easy sweeps of the e4) and i was also trying to come up with fighting types that were cool and hadn’t been taken (cough isagi and his machamp cough reo and his gallade cough tullia and her infernape/hitmonchan cough lavinho and his heracross cough yayoi and her hawlucha cough chris prince and his blaziken cough barou and his pangoro cough yukimiya and his breloom cough)

LMAOOOOO noel noa having a klefki truly is so random but i was also out of steel types (reo has mawile already, lavinho has scizor, reader has aegislash, hiori has metagross, loki has magnezone, yukimiya has steelix, and yayoi has skarmory) so we had to make do 😩 technically klefki does have rlly good typing since fairy is only weak to steel and poison but steel types are immune to poison so all of the fairy-type weakness are negated 🤩 maybe noel noa decided to be rational and just train the damn klefki for the type advantage LMAOAOA king for that tbh

well, funny (sarcastically) today 19 October 2023, on Thursday

I'll keep updating my life here,

so he reached out with super silly and childish way. i don't get it. the funniest thing is i can't stay angry to him. why?

so one day, i decided to no longer care to him, because i think i might wasted my time (again) expecting him to care about me /sad/ so here the thing, in another day he posted something on his igstory a song, Davin DeGraw - Follow Through. actually i didn't seen his story, i just checking my igs on pc and his story popped up, i decided to not open it, (but in pc u still can see the story with no notification to the owner), i was though, ah, so this guy is sending code to the girl he chased. lol. i am not gonna see it, cuz, why? just disappear anyway. i tired already for everything happened in this life, expecting him is something i shouldn't do.

but, that day..

i was so confuse and angry, what i did wrong to him?, after hours the story was posted, it disappeared /cuz i didn't see his story on the list it wasn't 24 hrs yet/ knowing this, of course, i did stupid reaction like checking his profile, and found out he hide his story from me, like wtf. can u take a chill, i didn't do something wrong to u, why u so harsh to me? are u really want to burn the bridge like this? but in other side i was thinking, is this story dedicated to me, bro? what u want from me to do?. just be clear. fck. this is so childish, and this is not my jam, i don't like me like this.

but of course, still, i won't left any footprints like seen his story, instead, i play the game a long, to make sure if this is what he want.

when he hide me form his story, i was like "the fck bro" then i choose a song from the same singer -,- Not Over You. that actually a good song to represent why i act like this. and post it. damn. stupid.

Life Update #1

Hi, whats up? 

No idea, obviously i come here because I feel some sort of ways, definitely a negative thing. Life’s good, but I am not. I am insecure, not confident and the list continues. 

Aidil just started his big guy job, at Sapura Berhad. This is why I started feeling insecure and again the list continues. I just had a fight with him yesterday, because again all the little things is being considered lol. Tbh, he rarely plan for a date for us, and i was okay all this while. Until, he became the organizer for 2 weeks straight for activities after work with the new work team. Guess what, you are correct. I am mad and hurt, why with me he never plan things? While, with his so called “new” friends, he has all the energy, ideas and the money? Cried like crazy, i’m feeling insecure and you name it. He even posted an ig story, with a “new girl” work mate at work. He never posted me for a very long time... the girl has a boyfriend btw. Not sure if i’m crazy, but probably am. 

I am honestly feeling insecure at peak right now, i feel like he will get attached to a new person and not me. Obviously, the girl is way prettier, taller, richer and you name it. However, he did explained why he never plan much for our dates. It is because his life is boring, not so much visiting places because thats how he being taught while growing up. Pity him. But still, i am insecure now. How do we feel confident, to not compare with others, and live as you are?

We are only a few days away from This man’s concert and aside from the announcement there’s been no promotion, no bts footage hyping up people, nothing. It’s like he doesn’t even care…So, it got me thinking and doing some digging and I think there’s trouble in paradise between our twin flames, so buckle up because I dug DEEP lol!

Apparently, miss Jules’ show is all about loss and grief and regrets but yet finding the will to push forward and continue smiling or whatever, but there’s surprisingly no mention of being appreciative of long time friends or finding love unexpectedly. Which, would’ve been the perfect time, IMO, to throw in a little nugget of speculation: people would’ve ate that shit up AND there would’ve been buzz around her, which is her whole purpose in life.

Then, there’s the fact that she flew to Jeddah around the same time that Freddy got married. Think about it, this woman is preparing her first BIG show (her words) and she flies abroad for 48hrs to a festival that was full of has-beens (no offense, but I don’t remember the last time I heard anyone mention the name of Sharon Stone) right in the middle of all this prepping. Now, this could be a huge coincidence but it’s kinda sus that she flies away seemingly on a whim and This man is nowhere to be seen on the wedding pictures and doesn’t post ANYTHING about it, so much so that we’re not even sure he went!

And then there’s yesterday’s mysterious ig story. After her first super duper show, miss Jules posts a quote about how sometimes second chances are just patterns of behaviour if there’s no change or some bs, I think implying that sometimes you shouldn’t give second chances (so wise!).

Could this be about Ben? I mean realistically it could be about anything or anyone, but what if she’s a bit cross with him because she expected to go to the wedding as his +1 and being the spineless idiot that he is cancelled on her last minute. This would explain why she up and left to the festival if she was already planning on being out of NYC around that time.

Sorry for the super long analysis! I’m currently waiting at the doctor’s office and had some time to kill haha! Hope you’re doing well💕

Business Practical

A/N debated writing this bc i already have so many things in my draft i want/need to finish but the new Elvis movie has completely taken over my mind. Austin Butler’s Elvis only though, real life Elvis is super sus. Also this may not be perfectly historically accurate,, but we’re accepting that bc it is not that deep and not worth my stress!! Also this taught me that I will never understand the spelling of ‘colonel’ like it just doesn’t sit right with me. 

Summary: After the release of your hit single, you think that the rest of your career is set. Or at the very least, you’re guaranteed an easy release of your next album. Too bad your label thinks your record’s going to fail if you don’t find someone famous enough to record a duet with you. Fortunately for you, your squeaky clean, America’s newest sweetheart image is just the kind of thing Elvis needs around him to protect himself from his own controversy. (i set this up to have a part 2 but i’m on the fence about it lol, so ig if you’d like to be tagged lmk) 

Update: Chapter II  

Y/n’s POV

I may not know everything, but I know music. I know my music, and I know I know how to perform my music. That’s the only reason I’ve never experienced stage freight when it comes to performing. Because of that, people assume that I’m confident all the time. Now, I’m not one to shy away at the drop of a hat, but my nerves have been tangling my stomach since this morning. 

Will had made it sound like the easiest thing in the world when he pitched his idea in my living room. The label’s sending you to his show, you’ll be escorted backstage right after. It’ll be easy for you since we both know you don’t know how to take ‘no’ as an answer. Everyone in my house was ecstatic. Sure, there’s controversy around him, but no one can deny his talent and success. 

I might be pushy when I need to be, but it’s not like I can strong arm a phenomenon into recording a song with me. I insisted that he’d be better suited for this. Will is a professional and he looks the part. I still feel like a child whenever anyone starts talking business. Will said that was all the more reason to go. It’d be a learning opportunity and feel much more natural.

Maybe I would have fought him harder on it if he hadn’t dangled those tickets in front of me. Everyone in my house knows how badly I wanted to see Elvis perform. 

I didn’t think this through. His performance was as captivating as I thought it’d be, which is a bad thing. There is no way I can go backstage and ask him to record a song with me. I know that his manager is expecting something, but I don’t think they’re picturing me. There’s a good chance that I won’t even get backstage--I look like most of the other girls here. 

“Y/n, you alright?” I can feel Maisie’s cool fingers on my forearm. “He’s definitely back there, and I think you should hurry before you miss him.” 

I’m frozen, not even my best friend’s voice is enough to snap me out of this. “I can’t.” 

“What do you mean you can’t? He was amazing, and you saw the way the crowd reacted, he’s perfect for--” 

“I know, that’s exactly why I can’t.” She doesn’t release my arm. “He’s like a real famous person and I--I thought coming to the show would be fun, and it was, but now I can’t stop thinking about how good he was and--” 

Maisie’s walking forward, pulling on my arm as she moves. “I have never seen you scared to do anything.”

“Maisie,” I sigh, trying to resist her, “This is different. This isn’t some school presentation or even performance. It’s--ugh, it should have been Will. He’s the professional.”

She’s completely ignoring me. Maisie continues to walk, forcing me to take a few steps.  “You don’t need Will, you don’t need anyone. Now go back there and don’t take no for an answer.”

I start walking, but Maisie doesn’t release me. I guess it’s fair, a part of me still wants to escape. With each step towards the back of the venue, my stomach drops a little more.

Maisie’s confidence can’t be faked, because she’s not even bothered by the security guard that’s standing in front of the door that leads to the backstage area. She continues forward like the large man in black isn’t going to attempt to stop her. 

He does, of course, he’d be terrible at his job if he didn’t. Two young girls who just have to have a word with Elvis Presley after his show, that’s not suspicious at all. 

“Excuse me, ladies, you can’t come back here.” 

Even now, Maisie remains determined. “You should be expecting her.” 

The man looks me over with little reaction behind his eyes. “I’m here on Will Walters’ behalf.” 

He blinks at me. “You his daughter?” I shake my head, preparing to explain the situation. “Niece, then? Distant cousin?” 

“No, sir, I--” 

“Oh my,” a voice gasps, “Y/n  L/n.” A girl I’ve never met before with styled mousy brown hair. “I heard your radio interview the other day! And don’t even get me started on your song!” She turns towards the security guard before I can speak. “Let her in, David, and her friend, too.” 

Maisie squeezes my arm gently. The security guard, David, looks me and Maisie over again, and then he steps out of the way. Being recognized by someone because of my music has brought back some of my confidence. 

I approach the girl that waved me in. “Thank you for that.” Part of me wants to let her know how much she’s actually helped me, but that feels awkward, especially considering the way she’s looking at me. 

“Oh, don’t even think twice about it.” with a flick of her wrist, she dismisses it all. “If someone like me’s allowed by here, someone like you should be more than welcomed.” 

“Someone like you?”

She smiles politely, “I’m not anything special, I just follow the tour around. I’m dating someone in the band.” I nod, following her as she begins to walk. “My name’s Annette.” 

“Oh, I’m Y/n, but you already knew that.”

“And I’m Maisie.” 

“Well, nice to meet you both.” She pauses long enough to give me a chance to look around. For a private space, it’s surprisingly crowded. I guess that makes sense when you factor in how many people probably have to work on the show and how many have girlfriends and family members in the area or on tour with them. “Now, you must be here t--” 

Everything, including Annette’s voice, fades into the background. It all blurs into white noise that I don’t care to distinguish because now that I’m looking at him, everything else feels like it doesn’t matter. I thought most of his enthralling nature came from his stage presence, but now that he’s only feet away from me he’s just as attention drawing, and somehow even more attractive now that I can really see his facial features. 

Of course his presence would melt away the tiny bit of confidence of developed, reducing me into the fan girl that can’t help but squeal at his existence. I clamp my mouth shut to avoid falling prey to my destiny. Look away. Stop staring. I don’t seem to have enough self control because my gaze remains frozen. 

At least he hasn’t noticed...and he’s turning his head. Of course he’s turning his head, anyone could sense the kind of staring I’m subjecting him to. It’s only when our eyes meet that I find the strength to look away. But those few seconds of actual eye contact...I could write an entire song just about the blue of his irises and the chill that just ran through me. 

Maybe I’m not insane, maybe he has this kind of affect on everyone. Maisie moves to grab my forearm, which is a good indicator that she’s seen him to. “He’s over there,” she whispers. 

Okay, she sounds shocked and slightly in awe but nowhere near as mesmerized as I am--was, because I’ve snapped out of it, and I’m going to stay that way. I can’t imagine seeing Will again and telling him the reason I didn’t ask his question to Elvis is because he was cute I just couldn’t get the words out.

“Yeah,” I nod, dropping my head, “I see him.” 

Annette hums once. “Oh, that makes sense.” 

Heat runs through my body. “Oh, no--no, it’s not--” My stuttering isn’t convincing her, and it’s not like that’s unfair. “My manager actually set all this up--” 

She nods, “Go on up and talk to him. He’s real nice, not too egotistical like some of the other singers I’ve met.”

I can feel Annette’s warm eyes on me and Maisie’s still squeezing my forearm and everything feels like it’s rushing to my head. “Okay,” I say, making absolutely no effort to move. 

Maisie’s hold on me loosens. “Y’know, hon, to talk to him you’re gonna have to walk up to him.” 

Good point. I mean he’s just standing there, and the person he’s talking to is walking away. I pull my arm away from Maisie while rolling my eyes. “I would’ve never guessed.”

I start walking forward, forcing myself to take even breaths as I approach him. He turns to face me a little quicker than I expected him to. My mind goes blank, no coherent sentences forming in my mind. 

My mouth opens. “Hi.” Really? 

The corner of his mouth turns upwards, like he’s trying to keep something in. “Hello, Miss...” 

He’s offering me a space to provide my name, but before I can speak, a low sounding squeak interrupts us. 

“You’re her,” a soft voice gasps, “Oh, you’re as cute in person as you were in that magazine photo.” 

My smile feels awkward. The last thing I need right now is for Elvis to think I staged something to make myself look like a bigger deal than I am. Will has some connections and after my song took off, I did two interviews, both different magazine features. “Thank you, that’s kind of you to say.”

“I love your song,” she continues, her voice raising enough to catch the attention of others near us. “Is it true you wrote it yourself?”

I struggle to not fidget. “Yes, I--” 

“Aren’t you the July song girl?”

My posture straightens under the new scrutiny. “Yes, that’s my song--”

“Oh when is your album coming out?” 

My lips part, but I have no good way to answer that. “If everything goes well, soon--” After that, the voices of a cluster of strangers beat me out. 

“How’d you get your hair like that in your magazine shoot? I’ve been trying for days, but--”

“Do you dress yourself? I love the modern modest look with all that lace detailing, it’s--” 

“Are you and Elvis together? You’re both--” 

“Your makeup--”

“When’s your next song coming out?” 

I swallow. This is what rabbits must feel like when they’re trapped by predators. Where’s Maisie when I need her? She’s under no obligation to be polite to anyone and has more than made it clear that she has no problem telling people to give me some space.

“Hey,” the deepness of Elvis’s voice cuts through all the overlapping rambling with practically no effort, “Let’s give Miss July here some space.” 

He places a warm hand on my shoulder. I dig my nails into my palms to avoid melting. With all the confidence in the world, he guides me away from the semi circle that formed with no notice. Elvis keeps his hand where he first put it as he leads me down a narrow hall. I can’t see Maisie but I know I’ll never hear the end of this. 

Elvis stops in front of a wooden door and opens it casually. He leads me inside, lets go of my arm, and moves to sit on a stool in front of a lit vanity. It takes me a moment longer than it should to realize we must be in his dressing room. The reality of the situation crashes into me--Elvis Presley just walked me to his dressing room and closed the door behind him.

Okay, I’m being kind of ridiculous. He took me here to save me from having to answer a thousand questions. A thousand questions that people were asking me backstage at his concert. “I am so sorry Mr. Presley, I don’t even know what happened back there. I swear I--” 

“I’m just surprised someone managed to pull away that much attention from me.” The corner of his mouth tilts upwards again. Okay--he genuinely doesn’t seem mad. “No need to apologize for keeping me humble, but if you’d like to make it up to me, I’d appreciate it if you told me how you managed that, Miss July.”

His easy going words paired with that half smile of his are enough to almost make me forget why I’m here. Almost. “Well, I should probably start off by letting you know my name’s not July. It’s Y/n L/n.” His expression still hints at just barely being amused. “That girl was just referencing the title of a song I--” 

“So you’re a singer?” 

The assumption feels false coming from someone like him. I fold my hands in front of me. “Trying to be, at least.” 

“Considering the way people reacted out there, I’d say you’re doing a little more than just trying.” 

The implied compliment warms my chest, but I’m here on a mission. “I’ve only released the one song.” My hands unclasp, falling uneasily at my sides. “That’s actually part of the reason I’m here. Well, at least the reason I’m backstage here, I wanted to come see your show before I’d even really written anything.” Shaking my head briefly, I take a settling breath. “I’m rambling, sorry, everyone at home’s always calling me out for it.” I try to force a polite laugh, but I think it comes out as more of a sigh. “I um--there’s kind of a long story about my label and my manager that I should probably preface what I’m about to say with, but I know you’re a busy man, so I’m just going to say that my manager sent me here to ask if you’d be willing to record a song with me.” 

I feel myself deflate as the question comes out. My own words sound beyond childish and naive in my own ears. What could he possibly get from recording a song with me? One radio popular song is nothing compared to what he has. Even with all the controversy surrounding him, he can fill up any venue he books.

His silence forces me to hold my breath. “Like a duet?” 

“If you’d be willing, but I realize who you are and the kinds of things you’re working on and Will, my manager, just insisted I give it some kind of chance, so I did.” I nod awkwardly, taking a step back. “I won’t take up anymore of your time, Mr. Presley. Thank you.” 

My hand reaches for the door handle of the dressing room. This may be the most mortified I’ve ever felt. I’m never listening to Will again. From now on, business is business and performing is performing. He takes care of his end and I take care of mine.

“You gonna give me a chance to answer before runnin’ off on me?” His words come so suddenly I almost convince myself I imagined them. 

I release the door handle. “Does that mean...you’re considering something?”

Elvis pauses, studying my expression. “It means I’m considering considering something.” 

That’s more than I thought I’d get. “Really?” 

“Anyone that can cause such a stir up with a single song’s worth consideration, Miss July.” 

The fact that he called me that again makes something in my stomach flutter. “I really appreciate that, Mr. Presley.”

“If you wanna work together, you should get used to the idea of calling me by my first name.” 

The invitation is coy, edged by his sharp blue eyes and something else I can’t distinguish. “You’re right. Thank you, Elvis.” 

He smiles a little easier at that. “Now, I can’t promise anything, I’d need to talk to my manager and then depending on that he’d talk to yours and then they’d try to work out the legalities for both our sakes.” 

“I owe you a thank you regardless. Thank you for not laughin’ me off and thank you for pulling me outta there when I didn’t know what to say.”

Elvis’s expression isn’t easy to read. “Like I said, no need to thank me.” He hesitates before searching the vanity for a spare scrap of paper and writing utensil. He finds an old receipt and a pen after a minute. “Just leave your contact information and then your manager’s.” 

I barely manage to take the pen from him in order to give him what he needs. After that, I say a quick goodbye, not wanting to give him a chance to regret his actions, before leaving. 

I close the door behind me when I leave. There are a million things I should probably be thinking about, but the only thing on my mind is getting back to Maisie and telling her everything.

Narrator’s POV

The Colonel and Elvis were back at it again, discussing how to turn anything into ‘snow’ in order to move Elvis’s career even further forward. After all, his ability to keep his audience entertained isn’t enough to combat large scale public opinion or keep him out of jail.

Though their conversation veered away from long term strategy in favor of discussing new merchandise and tour opportunities. Elvis even managed to bring up that girl, the one with the soft appearance that seemed like a magnet to everyone in her presence. He mumbled her request to The Colonel, expecting it to get brushed off. 

It’s a shame in a sense, the girl, y/n, seemed as warm as the July from the title of her song. He liked the idea of having the excuse to reach out to her. He kept that receipt, tucked it into the pocket of his pants the second she left the dressing room. 

“The girl--is she the same one that had all those people after her?” Elvis nodded, unsure about his manager’s interest. “Her manager told me she was coming. He didn’t give me any specifics. I wonder if that was planned or if he wanted to leave it up to us.” 

Elvis sat up a little straighter. “Are you saying you think it’s a good idea?” 

Tom Parker shrugged. “You know music and I know snow, and with you, that girl could be turned into a blizzard while she fixes our problems.” 

“I’m not following.” 

“I saw her in the newspaper. She wears knee length skirts and she smiles when she’s supposed to smile. She’s what America wants to love, you are what they do love. Paired together, America feels like they can love you.” Elvis drew his eyebrows together, still confused. “She could be the treatment your image needs.” The colonel stopped, playing through ideas in his head. “I need to make a call and I need you to trust me.”
