Chapter 2: Never thought

Drake arrived at Riley’s apartment, nervous that she’ll turn him away, he stood listening he heard a male voice and his heart sunk in his chest, he

thought maybe she has moved on or maybe she never wanted me, a few minutes later the door opened, a man who kind of reminds you of Leo walked out, Drake quickly ran to the stairs and watched as the man and Riley got on the elevator, her hair was longer and she looked more polished, she looked like a business woman she now had changed her hair color to blonde with dark brown highlights, she had put on about 10lb or so but he liked it she was beautiful still small, but the extra weight hit her just right, he waited for five minutes getting his thoughts together, then left.

Once back at the hotel he confided in Maxwell about seeing Riley but didn’t have the courage to actually show himself

Maxwell patted him on the back “ we only have two more days, so if you want blossom back you better let go your fears Liam already gave his blessing, only one stopping you is you.

“I know, But this guy came out of her apartment what if they’re together or worse married, then I’ve lost her for good.

Liam walked in the room smiling, “good morning gentleman, I have meetings all day

Liam Had two in person meetings , the other agreed to zoom meetings, he wanted to spend as much time as Mia as he could, they had spent the week getting to know each other, she had moved her work to home for the week, he arrived at Mia place he stopped and picked up a dozen of a white roses.

He pulled up in front of her building and pulled out the key she had given him, it was November and very cold out, it was just 2 weeks from Thanksgiving, Mia had invited him to go to California with her to her father for Thanksgiving, she warned Jennifer would be there too.

Once his meetings were over he walked to the near by grocery store to pickup a few items, he wanted to surprise her with a dish his mom had taught him as a boy.

Mia walked in, “What smell so good in here, what did you make, and those roses are beautiful.

“I made Mediterranean lamb ragu, my mother taught me, she learned how to prepare a few dishes for my father, they sit and ate, and talked.

Neither of them wanted to bring up the Elephant in the room , that they only had one more day together.

They finished dinner and played a few games and watched a movie, Liam felt as if he was really dating it wasn’t social season, even tho his father asked him to do another social season to find a bride, after finding out Riley was into Drake, he refused to even think of marrying Madeline.

He now wanted to find his own wife not some arrangement, Riley opened his eyes to actually finding real love with someone.

Mia turned on some music asking him to dance, they slow danced for a while and went to bed .

“Bastein you are to keep me updated on my son, why haven’t I heard from you all this week?

They showered and got dressed.

Drake told him about seeing Riley.

He no longer had any emotional ties towards Riley, all he wished is that she was healthy and wanting for nothing, “that’s a good thing you should talk with her, how do you know who the man was ? if you don’t actually say anything? What if he’s just a friend or family member

They heard a lite knock on the door, “Hey you guys hungry?

He had 2 meetings then met up with Mia, it was almost 1pm, She was quiet, not wanting to look at him, he noticed.

He felt sad and guilty, he wanted her with him, they spent the rest of the day together; it seemed like night came too fast .
