I never felt literary. I never felt my words had any exceptional potential.

And while words do move me, I never felt like my opinion on the matter was worth anything.

But in an attempt to feel like myself, I am exploring all the things that bring me joy and give me energy.

I think of the part in I HEART Huckabees, where Jude Law stumbles upon the phrases: "how am I not myself". There are actually so many things that get in our way of being ourselves.

I believe it may be actually impossibly to fully (and radically) accept yourself, all the time. We can't be any one thing consistently all the time. We're always simultaneously being multiple opposing things at once.

Anyway, these kind of thoughts make me feel warm inside and bring me joy.

FRIDAY FAM DROP - GER DUANY WALK TOWARDS THE RISING SUN . One of my favorite people on this planet is my brother Ger Duany. I can honestly say I’ve never been so simultaneously (and constantly) intrigued, inspired, amused, enlightened and enriched by a person. The story of a child-of-war is traumatic beyond what most of us can imagine. The task of revisiting and analyzing these memories is something that many don’t have the bravery to delve into. . I have been on the outskirts of Ger’s life for about a decade now and I know he has been wrestling with how to tell his life story since around 2003. Our initial interactions were based on artwork during his years as a top NYC model and gradually deepened as time went on. In the past three years Ger quietly opened the doors of his “memoir journey” to me and invited me in and take a look at what he was creating (I will be forever grateful for this privilege.) Riveting is an understatement. . Ger’s story is raw and sometimes jarring beyond belief and the version he presented to the world could have gone in many different directions. As a testament to his deep, soul-driven purpose to help others navigate the struggles he faced, he made the decision with his publishers, to write his memoir for the YA Market (Young Adults.) The decision to plant the seed in the younger generation gets my mad respect. But yo, trust me… this is not a simple “kid’s book.” It is full of raw truth and hard-to-believe stories that will appeal to and inspire EVERYONE as Ger goes from the lowest lows to the highest highs (& not necessarily in a straight line.) “I ❤️ Huckabees” (2004). One of the quirkiest movies I’ve ever seen. Funny at times, sometimes just ridiculous in an eye rolling way. Mark Wahlberg gives the best performance. Even though I enjoyed it for the most part I don’t want to watch this ever again. HAPPY BORNDAY GER DUANY I don’t pretend to understand it, but some bonds seem to be forged supernaturally. Even though I’m not a naturally gregarious person and i lack a certain social ease when connecting with strangers, an ease that others seem to have in spades, I’ve learned throughout my life that when i recognize these bonds it’s wise to embrace them, step out of my comfort zone and do everything i can to explore and strengthen them. When this instinct of “kindred spirit” hits in a particularly strong way, i feel almost accountable to the Universe to explore what can come of my intersecting purpose with this person. Whose to say what the Universe intends. More often than not, when I pursue these bonds they solidify instantly & the connection often becomes among the most productive and enduring of my journey. And yeah, about the whole “journey” thing... knowing the details of Ger Duany’s mind-blowing journey and being able to witness the milestones of his 40th year on this planet and the welcoming of his firstborn son at the same time I’m in collaboration with him on our mutual projects is a massive honor and privilege.
