Ikuradon is the belly of Nekojima. People pray at the shrine and they swim and fish in the ocean, but they eat and drink and live at Ikuradon. The Utagawa's have always been so proud of it. Kotami was so proud. She was so proud of catching the best fish and supporting her husband. She loved drinking with the old fishermen and spoiling the cats. Now that she's gone, the place only feels half-alive. Yoshiku moves around like a ghost. Miko acts cheerful and sobs into her pillow when she thinks no one can hear her. Toshi tries her best but she's got a little boy to look after and an ex she won't even talk about, and anyway, she loved Kotami too. It's just not working anymore. Tears aren't much of a sushi topping.

Honestly, I didn't want Satoshi and Minoru to end up together (plz don't kill me), so I avoided romantic interactions between them at my best, but THEIR MUTUAL DRIVE WAS WAY TOO STRONG so they managed to fall in love anyway, JUST WHEN I FINALLY STARTED MAKING A TINY PROFIT FROM IKURADON so it was too late to quit without saving... I tried to shoo them away when they both showed up at Ikuradon, but it didn't work. Just imagine, they sneaked into the kitchen (!!!), Satoshi sang a serenade for Minoru, and they started making out right away, it happened in the matter of seconds! Well... I guess I have to accept their choice after all.

Man if this isn't relatable, lol! Sims I strongly DO NOT ship getting together despite my best efforts & objections is one of my favourite Sims 2 experiences.

Edit: @silouana Everything in Nekojima is the gentlest possible suggestion. If the creators are that set on getting a specific couple together, we can darn well play the hood for ourselves.

(I definitely want to know who you did see them getting together with, though!)

Toshi gave her a wave, then an exasperated flick of her brow as she continued on the phone, politely confirming that, yes, the table for three on Tuesday night would be ready for them, and no they did not need to call on Tuesday to confirm. 

“Gosh, your business voice is so cute,” Ursula said when Toshi finally hung up. Straightening her shoulders, Ursula mimicked: “We look forward to seeing you.”

“What can I say,” Toshi said, “I’m pretty good at getting down to business.”

"Ohh, nice.” Ursula bit back a smile. “I bet that’s what you tell all the girls.”

“Nope. Well, only a select few,” she said and wagged her brow. “What do you want, anyway?”

“Oh, I just wanted to come see my favorite person on this entire island, that’s all.”

Toshi smiled in spite of herself, a flush rising high on her cheeks.

“So tell your dad that I’m here to see him--”

“Oh shut up,” Toshi said, feigning disgust as she turned to busy herself with the table chart.

Ursula leaned in close behind her. “--and I’m gonna be hanging out at Kirakira!! tonight after the restaurant closes.” 

Toshi stared at the reservation list, Ursula’s breath warm on her ear, handwritten names and times all blurring together as her heart fluttered. 

She was in it. She was in it deep.
