WARNING FOR GOOD OMENS SPOILERS!!!!
FURTHER SLIGHT SPOILER WARNING FOR THE FOLLOWING BOOKS: The Bone Clock by David Mitchell, You Only Call When You're In Trouble by Stephen Mcauley, and Bibliomaniac by Robin Ince.
Edit: Photos by @polychromicron-persei-8 !!!!!
So I'm sure a lot of the fandom have seen the pictures posted by a very lucky fan who saw the production of good omens happening out in Scotland today!!
However what I'm not seeing people talk about is a hidden gem in the reblogs.
SOMEONE HAD MANAGED TO GET A PICTURE OF THE BOOKS IN THE WINDOW!!!
Naturally, I had to go and do my research to see if these books give us any clues or serve any other purposes other than decorative purposes
AND LET ME TELL YOU
These are the the books visible in the window:
Tumblr media
I'll go through them one by one
(Please bear in mind, I haven't read any of these books personally!! The only information I have on them are the little bits I found online in a very rushed attempt at research!!!)
Okay firstly
Tumblr media
"The Bone Clocks" by David Mitchell
Now, this is the one that I struggled to make sense of the most out of the three.
The story appears to follow a runaway teenage girl who is a "lightning rod for psychic phenomena." These visions are said to reorder reality and send her into a real life nightmare.
However,
It also states that there is a boy who eventually crosses paths with her and who's story "comes together in moments of grace and extraordinary wonder"
As I said, I've never read these books and the only link I could begin to make with this is the idea of a "supernatural being meets another supernatural being and what they can do when they're together defies anyone's wildest dreams" story, similar to what we have seen and could see in GO3.
The next book is where it gets FARRRR more interesting (in my opinion)
Tumblr media
NOW
THE TITLE? INTERESTING ASF.
IS AZIRAPHALE IN TROUBLE? OR EVEN CROWLEY?
The quotes are literally taken from the amazon listing itself, but I'll just point out the bits that stuck out to me personally.
☆ "is it ever okay to stop caring for others and start living for yourself?"
And I'm skipping a HUUUUGE chunk of the story here so apologies
☆ "Tom does what he's always done - answers the call."
☆ "Thus begins a journey that will change everyone's life and demonstrate the beauty or dysfunction (or both?) of the ties that bind families together and sometimes strangle them."
THAT LAST QUOTE REALLY STICKS OUT TO ME. Personally, I'd say that could possibly relate to the heaven and hell divides?
But furthermore, we were told prior to the whole NG situation that Aziraphale and Crowley aren't talking.. so could that mean that as soon as they begin speaking once again, they have the power to leave heaven and hell behind? Perhaps stop the divides?
And last, but certainly not least
Tumblr media
Now, keep in mind that this particular book is nonfiction and appears to be written from the authors own point of view as he aims to visit 100 bookshops in 100 days.
This has a relatively short description from what I can see right now so I'll put it in here
"Bibliomaniac takes the reader on a journey across Britain as Robin explores his lifelong love of bookshops and books - and also tries to find out just why he can never have enough of them.
It is the story of an addiction and a romance, and also of an occasional points failure."
This one interested me SO much because it SCREAMS Aziraphale character development sort of thing? You know?
I really struggled to find any spoilers for this one whatsoever but one website did mention the author's love for vintage books, which he only ever reads as and when, as opposed to focusing on just one book.
I just thought this was SO SO SOOOOO interesting, and if anybody has any differing thoughts/interpretations or has even read the books, the comment section is a safe space to do so!!! All theories/suggestions are welcomed (any hate WILL be blocked, don't test me).
OR MAYBE THIS ALL MEANS NOTHING AND IM JUST CLOWNING FAR TOO HARD?!??!??!

living for alhaitham's inherent curiosity about kaveh being the catalyst for an odd textual mystery...??
he already read the Very Bad novel in the house of daena before kaveh got hold of it? but then seeing it in their study and knowing kaveh must have checked it out, he... opened it anyway despite already knowing the contents?? 1) because he knew kaveh wouldn't mind, and 2) because he was curious what kaveh thought about it?? considering that he knows kaveh makes annotations in books??
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
he saw kaveh circle the killer's name in permanent ink, effectively spoiling the novel, no matter how terrible, and joined in by circling a name to create a red herring, but also because he thought circling names was funny <3
he put the book in the same place in the study and didn't say anything to kaveh when kaveh went to return it, and kaveh went about believing alhaitham knew nothing about it, until the quest comes full circle and kaveh returns to alhaitham to tell him the news, only to find out that he and alhaitham were jointly the instigators for the conspiracy.
the quest is THEIR fault!! but.. the conspiracy wouldn't have happened if alhaitham hadn't made the second circle,, so… if he hadn't been curious about something that occupied kaveh's time..., that’s so !!??

What's your favorite dc comic run and your favorite marvel run? out of curiosity
well i started with Red Robin (2009) and it holds a special place in my heart for how insane Tim is there (people who mischaracterize Dick and Damian and the Al Ghul's because of this run make me scream though), but right now i'm in love with Juni Ba's Boy Wonder, and i started reading through Cass' new Batgirl run (YIPEEEEEEE!!!!) so they're the only ones that come to mind at the moment. i need to make a list but i keep forgetting to write down which comics i've read/want to read/etc

Having thoughts about Haymitch needing to try multiple rocks before finding one that sparked a fire with his striker during the games as a direct parallel to the rebels needing to try multiple times with different tributes until Katniss sparked the rebellion

that brief passage during the banyue arc where the book is like "the two became immersed in a serious discussion on stars and the night sky" is so important to me because how many times over the past centuries have they looked up at the stars separately and made individual wishes from the bottom of their hearts and now they're standing together beneath the stars, bonding over their shared knowledge like they've been doing this forever.

this is just text, but I love how the end of dgs 1 and the cat-flap incident save susato from repeating the habitual sins of lying and secret-keeping ingrained into her family so much actually. like, at that point, she's only aware of the secret kazuma kept from her, but she already feels the pain from it and having to then repeat the act, understand the justification behind it as well as the shame and guilt which undercurrent that justification yet being unable to overcome them to tell ryuunosuke the truth, hurts her. but she can live with it. she has to learn how to live with it. she's already learning how to live with it.
and then ryuunosuke runs to her, and she doesn't.
because he chases her halfway across the country just to tell her he believes in her. he's never stopped believing in her, and no matter what unforgivable thing she thinks she may have done or will do, he will never stop believing in her. so she doesn't have to do this alone. she doesn't have to hide from him because he will always, always be on her side. because she's the greatest judicial assistant in the world. and the only reason he's been able to believe in himself is because she has faith in him, so let him do the same for her. if she can't trust herself, then let her trust in the faith she has for him.
on its own, the cat-flap incident is such a silly, innocuous thing, but i love how it balloons outwards to encapsulate the whole conceit of kazuma's teachings and his hypocrisy and how it's that very juxtaposition that helps susato forgive herself and prevents her from repeating the very actions that have caused her such pain. i love how it shows the unbending faith ryuunosuke and susato have in each other and how that faith saves them again, and again, and again.

i'm not like. an annotation style elitist. but genuinely the way some of these booktokers annotate their videos confounds me.
you'll see someone with extremely detailed annotations with like 500 sticky tabs in the whole book and it makes you think wow there's so much going on here. and then the annotations are just OMG! and they've highlighted 90% of the book and they've underlined everything. everything they write are just various reactions like omg! cute! wow! i gasped! hot! etc.
it just screams "i want my book to look like a serious reader owns it" but they straight up just don't understand the purpose of annotating. i don't even understand the use case for this type of annotation because like... are you really not going to know it was a cute scene on a reread unless you highlight the entire 5 pages? is this something you need to draw attention to?
it's just like. wild. to see these books with every single free space covered in annotations. the way someone writing a thesis about that book would do. but then you look at the content of the annotations and it is confusingly just someone's immediate reactions to what they've read.
which is like. it's good. that's definitely a part of annotating. but annotation is a tool to understand and analyze a text. and this is not what is going on.
and what is MORE confounding is when people who annotate like this SELL THEIR ANNOTATED BOOKS???? FOR MONEY??? THAT PEOPLE BUY ON PURPOSE????
GIRL LISTEN TO ME YOU DO NOT NEED SOME OTHER RANDOM BITCH SCRIBBLING HER FIRST REACTION ALL OVER A BOOK WHY DO PEOPLE BUY THESE WHAT THE FUCK
