finished phantom liberty for the first time and man, I'm having some thoughts about Vin being so so self-sacrificing and selfless despite his search for a cure for the relic.

he sees so much of himself in So Mi and refuses to betray her, despite being betrayed by her. he doesn't want a cure if it'll cause him to betray someone he cares about, he refuses to stay mad at her because he understands her position and her guilt. they're one in the same, in a way- both so desperate to survive that they've done some fucked up shit they wish they hadn't. but he just can't betray her for the neural matrix. he understands too much. hell, he's not even sure if he would have done anything differently if he was in her exact situation.

so he gives her the treatment he wishes he could receive, knowing that his chances for such a thing are next to zero: he buckles her in and sends her off with the cure, genuinely wishing her the best while nursing the sting of her betrayal. no judgment, no anger, no bullet to her brain night city style, just gentleness. because at least one of them deserves to live out their life, and fuck, he couldn't imagine a worse fate than her dying from some Blackwall bullshit or living/dying under the thumb of the NUSA, who used her as a weapon for so long already. he'd rather break his own heart than give her back to Myers, and so he does.

no, if there's a way for Vin to live, he wants it to be on his terms and his terms only. nothing is worse than allowing those you care for to die, even if it's to find a way to keep him alive. sure, he has blood on his hands from his past at arasaka, from being a merc, from trying to find some way to continue on, but he refuses to have it be from anyone he loves. he's haunted enough by Jackie's death to lose another friend. and though she wasn't always honest and never told the whole truth, he couldn't help but care about So Mi. so he sacrificed the one thing that could have possibly cured him for good and tried to keep it together to find his own way to live.

Right after Hephaesta ended up in Parabola he'd actually sent another friend a letter, offering to treat them to Dante's in exchange for letting him practice telling zee stories on them (since him talking abt the zee tends to be less in the Exciting Tales of his Adventures way and more in the Infodumping About Zailing way...) BUT THEN THIS OPTION????? 🥺 I CANT HANDLE IT..... PUTTING HIS PRACTICE TO WORK ON THE MOST IMPORTANT AUDIENCE............

"Hot Tub Week" is definitely a highlight of this season, if not the best episode in my opinion (we still have to see what the next ones have in store of course before finalizing any ranking). It wrapped up the Avery baby storyline well, had tons of Ody3 bonding, gave Cap some closure with his wife, and gave Max, Tristan and Avery some time to actually have meaningful conversations without constantly being interrupted.

And if the series does get cancelled, I think it serves as a pretty good open-ending for the show. While watching it, I actually got the feeling I was watching a season finale, just from the way the last few scenes were shot and written. I don't know what the last episode has in store for an ending, but even if it fumbles the ball, this one gives the characters all hope for the future, with Cap about to be a father again, and Avery, Tristan and Max starting to head in a good direction concerning their relationship.

Uhm, and then Sam as Gadreel was gonna pass out. And this was like kind of just a cool moment of just being like in tune with the choreography of the moment.

And so I threw the punch, directly into the lens, and um, and everyone behind, uh, video village, which is where they’re watching on the monitors, where Jensen was and Bob Singer was, um, started laughing. An, um, Jensen came out into- We were in the kitchen, we were shooting on location in the kitchen, [laughing] and Jensen came out and said, ‘Misha that was fucking hilarious!... Oh, you weren’t kidding.’ Cause he registered the look on my face and then he said ‘Come here.’ and we went back to the monitors and they did the playback, and the idea was the fist goes right into the lens on the camera. And I did this. [Weird arm swing motion]”

Context! This was right before Jensen gave his answer to this question, where instead of talking about a scene he was proud of himself for, he talked about how incredible Misha's acting was in the confession scene and how proud he was of him.

Obv it’s his Green element empathy stuff at work but I’m like Insane over the fact that he could be able to tell if someone was in danger/distress from a distance. Like he can even feel the more distant outliers!! Insane stuff and amazing chapter

YEP, LLOYD CAN SENSE OUTBURSTS AND/OR NRG MODE ACTIVATION -> hence why he started tapping into the Core Four's powers when they first achieved their TPs + has correctly anticipated Nya's Outburst twice now

Yes yes it's the Green Element empathy lololol BUT while it is naturally/strongly attuned with the Core Four for obvious reasons (this is also how he was able to 'sense' them all in the wreckage during Ch13), the reason Nya and Jesse are so potent with Lloyd as well despite being Derivatives is because of his own personal relationship/connection with them, whiiiiiich we'll explore in the next chapter!

But, like, he wouldn't be able to tell if, for example, Karlof or Tox are in distress though. Yet as he gets personally close with other EMs (i.e. Skylor), he'll become more attuned with them as well! :D

joke's "it's all my fault" is, like woah, even thinking about that line makes me so emotional.

and then it's followed later with "even if we forgive each other this time there'll still be problems if i'm the issue."

and i, am deeply and intensely familiar with the kind of life that shapes you to have no self worth and see literally every thing that goes wrong as your fault.

and the thing is, in this case, he probably shouldn't have gone off on his own and stolen this ring without thinking about the consequences. i don't think joke realized until it was all said and done that he's no longer operating alone, and that other people can be negatively impacted by his actions. this was something he should have learned in his initial fuck up w jack and the bank which lead him to have to give himself up. and that's part of why jack is mad.

it is him again, and it's the same thing and the same lack of forethought. i think it makes sense that jack got angry here. in a character sense there isn't much else he could have done. and i also think that he owes it to the life he was trying to build with joke and also to the fact that joke wasn't getting this ring for no reason but to help him, specifically, to stop and think about joke's perspective.

and i want to think that he has. with the line about "what would a thief do?" and "figure out things at home" and even just the fact that he was in red and blue during his scene in the bedroom.

jack is a poor kid whose trying to survive and build a better space for him and his community. joke is a rich kid who couldn't meet expectations and left his own community behind after they hurt him. they have entirely different ideas of agency and power and the consequences of failure.

jack knows intimately that one person's mistake can hurt an entire family and impact entire generations. he also knows his actions have weight and can save and help so many lives. joke grew up being told that every thing that went wrong was his fault and his alone. that he would personally bear the cost of his own actions and no one else.

the story has been about jack learning to receive help instead of just giving it and joke learning to stop trying to be a self sacrificial saviour figure. community doesn't flourish when all you have are martyrs. people need to be vulnerable and talk and help each other and most of all, keep living.

i want j&j to show us what it means to support your community, to be a part of it and know that as you flourish so does everyone around you. that you can't just have one or the other.

Ephraim had allowed himself little time to process his feelings during the war's campaign. When they uncovered the truth of Renais's twin sacred stones and retook their home, he had pledged himself then and there to his people. Finally accepted the man he was meant to be and the path he was meant to walk and the sacrifices he would need to make for that. So long he had spent avoiding his responsibility but no longer. One such sacrifice was his own feelings, both regarding his future spouse, whoever it may be, and tucking away his grief over Lyon and his father in order to best serve Renais.

The boy Lyon had grown up with was buried somewhere deep down but glimpses of him came through in his eyes now.

"If I had visited more often, not spent years away worried about becoming the greatest spearmen in all Magvel." His tone soured as he spoke the words. It felt so silly now. Had his father's life been worth glory? Had Lyon's? Were the people of Renais? Yet still he knew he loved the thrum of battle, the beat in his veins when he wielded his spear. That would never change.

Ephraim slowly released Lyon. "You will always be my friend, Lyon. I cannot help but regret what happened between us. And can scarcely believe that you stand here now and are not simply a figment of my imagination." His gaze lowered to Lyon's chest, to the spot he had run his spear through him. For a moment he thought to touch the spot, to confirm that Lyon was whole, but he kept his hand still by his side.

"How is it that you stand here alive and free of the Demon King's influence?" This was probably the question he should have opened with but he had been too overcome with emotion.
