Brief Hiatus!

I have a medical certification coming up in August and I need to spend all my free time studying for that unfortunately. I'm sorry that the updates have been sparse, but I'm hoping I'll be less stretched thin by the end of August, early September (just in time for me to move across the country lol)

I appreciate everyone's patience! I'm just one person doing this in his free time, and unfortunately my free time is very limited atm.

Some old Morrowind character design stuff I was doing before my hands started acting up and nuked my ability to do nice line art. I might redo these (but just headshots) now that I have a more clear picture of these characters in my head since I don't vibe with all the choices I made in these anymore. Knowing a bunch of random info turns out to be pretty useful when working with curious kids and a 8 foot tall robot who's always more than happy to listen to anything. Besides it makes for great stories to tell

the quiet tragedy of verin being the one who never quite made it out.

for most of their lives, essek was the one who was entrenched in expectations, in the politics of their den. while verin was stationed far from the heart of the dynasty, ostensibly free from the eyes of his elders, essek was sitting beside their mother in court and speaking before the queen. and it made sense, because essek had always been better at all of it — the posturing, the sweet-talking, the ladder-climbing. his brother the black sleep was still his brother the prodigy; his brother the heretic was still his brother the shadowhand.

but then, essek meets new people and they get through to him and change him and make him softer, make him better (and why them? what is it about them, that they could do what verin never could?) and he runs. he gives up the title and the status and the power and leaves it all (leaves verin) behind.

suddenly, verin is the lone newsoul of den thelyss, the one with all eyes on him, with the expectations meant for two brothers falling squarely on his shoulders and only his in the absence of their other target. he is still the youngest of his den, the one they all watch and wait to be disappointed by, but there is no one to share that burden with anymore and all at once it becomes painfully clear that distance never really was freedom.

essek has a family, then — not a den but a family, with love and trust and care and warmth and all the things essek once called verin childish for craving — and a welcoming home to go to with someone who loves him waiting there and a garden in the front yard, and verin is left still fighting demons under the banner of a god (of a family, of a home) he only half-believes in.

and maybe they see each other more often then. maybe bazzoxan is remote enough that it’s safe for essek to visit in disguise. maybe essek’s friends come too and are kind enough to offer a taste of what essek has now and verin can almost believe it’s his too. maybe essek doesn’t even fight it anymore when verin insists on hugging him. but how much can that really fix? how much can it really change?

an unloved man leaves no one behind when he finally makes a better life for himself, but essek was never an unloved man. not really.

assuming madagio is good headcannon that madagio and fit end up having this god/champion dynamic but it's actually just like the most petty relationship in the world . like everyone else who has a god/goddess ? good terms, love it when they show up, trust in them entirely . madagio and fit ? worsties <3

madagio picked fit out of pure necessity and fit keeps working with them because he has to and neither of them are happy about it . they antagonize each other . fit sends more data but includes a message that tells madagio to go fuck themself . in retaliation madagio very clearly follows ramon for no reason despite having better things to do, not even for information just because they can . fit tells madagio he cannot send information on a certain day because it is his anniversary . fit gets yoinked mid date as a fuck you (he ends up getting put back, but it was to prove a point) . fit argues with every cat he sees and wakes up to his house filled with them . madagio hears pac wanted to adopt them and makes a point to just be there sometimes to be in the way, fit decides to be even more insufferable on purpose .

Apologies for being Solas pilled on main but I think it's so funny that he's more conventionally handsome in da4. He was just in full disguise da3 as a forty something divorced man who is obsessed with birding and model trains
