At first, (and it is valid of anyone to still be upset) it felt cruel to use a queer person's pain to further the relationship of a mlw but it now feels more complex than that. It wasn't just Will masking his feelings for Mike by telling him what he wanted to say and using El as the subject instead. It was a kid, who loved his childhood friend and sister so much that he'd rather suffer in silence than ever get in the way of their happiness. And he does know that Eleven feels exactly the way he does. I do mean exactly. Both Will and Eleven feel like a mistake for various and different reason, and Mike was someone who made them feel safe and loved. And of course the sweetest kid in the world, would put everyone's needs before his own. Especially for two of the people he loved most, the two people who essentially saved his by never once giving up on him.

I'm not even upset at Mike Wheeler anymore I do be pushing people away because it's easier to lose them on my own terms than them leave me because they didn't need me anymore so like, I get it. He's been through multiple traumas where he lost both Will and Eleven, of course he'd push them away to soften the blow. Of course he couldn't say anything until he thought he would never get the chance to do it again. Of course he would echo the words of his childhood best friend, her new brother who has psychically spent the most time with her recently to keep her hope alive. Of course he would trust that Will wasn't lying to him about Eleven during the van confession because he never had before. It doesn't matter whether it's platonic or romantic, He loves both Will and Eleven so much that doesn't know how to balance it because he's never really had to before.

Pairing: Eddie Munson x Reader

Prompt: Comforting partner after a nightmare

Warnings: This describes what happens to Eddie in Vol2, but it’s a fix-it so don’t worry too much!

The red lightning struck loudly around you as you sprinted as fast as you could through the Upsidedown version of the trailer park. Eddie had cut the rope leaving you and Dustin on the other side while he went to buy more time. You managed to get through the portal again and you were frantically searching for your boyfriend. You had never felt panic and fear as intense as this before and it only grew as you turned around a building and saw Eddie on the ground surrounded by the Demobats. As you sprinted as fast as your legs could go the bats all suddenly fell to the ground, seemingly dead.

You skidded to your knees next to Eddie and cradled his head in your lap. “Eddie!” You cried out as you looked at his bloody body, tears streaming down your face.

“Baby, I didn’t run away this time. Right?” He gasped out, tears in his eyes as he looked up at you, a forced smile pulling at his lips.

“No baby, you didn’t run.” You said, stroking his face as your tears momentarily blinded you.

“Promise you look after those freshman okay? Dustin and them.” He pleaded, it seemed to be becoming incredibly difficult for him to speak now.

“You’re going to watch over them Eddie, we’re going to get you out of here.” You sobbed.

“Nah baby, promise me.”

“I promise.”

“I love you Y/N.”

“I love you Eddie.” You choked out as his body seemed to go more limp in your arms and he closed his eyes. “Eddie? Baby?” You shook him lightly to no response. “Eddie?! EDDIE!”

“Baby!?” You were being shaken awake suddenly. You shot up as you gasped for air. Another nightmare. You turned to Eddie in the bed next to you as tears began to fall from your eyes. “Hey, hey, it’s okay. It was just a nightmare baby.” He pulled you to him gently and you clung to him, mindful of the bandages around his stomach. It had been a few days since that night, since Hawkins fell. But you had managed to get Eddie help just in time. But the nightmares plagued you every night, reminding you that you almost lost the man you love. Thankfully Eddie was right there every time to help you through it.

“Hey, I’ve got you. I’m right here baby. I’m not going anywhere. I’ve got you.” Eddie cooed into your hair as he held you, rocking you ever so slightly. “Remember, you saved me. I’m right here. I’ll always be right here.”

You let out a shaky breath, calming yourself, letting Eddie’s words comfort you. He was right here in your arms and he was okay. You listened to his strong, if not slightly erratic, heartbeat beneath your ear, calmed by the sound.

“Hey, I know you keep having those nightmares, but I’m right here okay. Im alright because of you, and Henderson. The two of you saved my life. My little hero.” He soothed, rubbing circles into your back.

“It always looks so real, and like I’m there again. Living it again.” You croaked out through you shuttering breath.

“I know, I know. But you get to put up with my shit for the rest of your life. You and me. All thanks to you.” Eddie said lightly, leaving a gentle kiss in your hair.

“You know you’re the hero right Eddie? You’re my hero. Always have been.” You informed, pulling back a little bit to look up at him.

“And I’ll keep being here to be your hero, babe. I love you, sweetheart.” He replied, wiping your tears from your face with a soft smile. “Since we’re up, let’s go watch some TV for a little bit okay?”

You nodded your head before grabbing the sides of his face and crashing your lips to his, just needing to feel them again, a reassurance. “I love you so much Eddie Munson.” You said when you pulled back to gaze into his large brown eyes, comforted by the brightness and sparkle they had in the moonlight that lit the room. He was alive and safe.

4. Jargyle

i mean, it’s cute, but there is very little evidence for this happening. the only reason i could see the writers doing it would be to give jonathan another love interest after a likely jancy breakup. I mean, neither of them seem the most straight to me, but not in a way that makes it seem that their relationship could be anything more than platonic. besides, if half of the ships on this list end up being canon, when you add it to the other canon ships, then adding jargyle would really make it a bit cramped in the romance department

3. Ronance

the chemistry is there! nancy and robin are looking at eachother in those posters, the same way all the other (basically) canon ships are. it might be a thing relating to getting the other person unvecna’d, but then it’s kinda weird that jopper is doing it. also, i feel like nancy being queer could also lead to some actual sibling bonding with you-know-who. good vibes here all around, plus it’s one of my favorite w/w ships ever!

however, there are some things that make me less sure it’ll happen. first of all, vickie. the only reasons i see robin and vickie not happening is A. vickie dies (lame), or B. vickie doesn’t like girls (unlikely). from the way it’s been building up it’s nigh impossible some sort of romantic confrontation (or something like that) between them won’t happen, and it would be kinda weird if it was built of that robin liked vickie only for her to end up with nancy, unless vickie dies, which would be not very cool (but i could see happening in vol 2).

second of all, i have a feeling nancy is gonna die, if not in vol2 then in season 5. but that’s an entire other post, so i won’t say much else. i’d really like this ship to happen, but i won’t be surprised if it doesn’t.

2. Steddie (bisexual steve)

steddie just makes sense for a lot of reasons! steve having an arc where he realizes he’s bisexual has been set up SO well, it works perfectly with his character, it would be a shame if it were wasted. eddie is heavily gay/queer coded, making it perfect for steve to realize things about himself. plus, it would be perfect for the kids to have someone they already look up to be queer, and make them more comfortable with themselves. im about 75% sure that steve is bisexual.

the only problem here is that eddie has some massive death flags in vol2. i really don’t want this to happen, but i can’t ignore the signs. but if he DOES survive vol2, then i believe it’s extremely likely we’ll get steddie in s5. if he doesn’t live, then it’s possible that steve could end up with jonathan, bc of the likely jancy breakup and the fact that it would be poor writing if stancy got back together. i think we’ll for sure see some queer steve stuff in s5.

1. Byler

it’s happening 100%. i have never been this confident in a queer ship (or any ship for that matter) before. i am so confident in byler happening that i am going to schedule a post on july 1st celebrating it. there is no doubt in my mind. too me it’s so obvious it’s happening that i feel like it’s redundant to explain to anybody who’s seen the show why. there are so many reasons (both external and internal) why byler is going to happen that im not even going to list them, just watch the show.

the question is not IF byler is happening, but WHEN byler is happening. In my opinion it would be better if they are established by the end of vol2, not only to haze out the homophobes early, but to give the relationship time to grow so we can see them as a fully fledged couple in s5 before it ends. there are other reasons, but those are the main ones. however i could also see the writers not having them get together yet, and only confirm that they both have feelings for eachother so they can get together early/mid s5 and we can watch them navigate a new relationship and what it means.

-even though the prompt suggests this is from steve's pov, i wrote it from eddie's -steve's senior year takes place during season 2 and im pretty sure eddie and steve were in the same grade before eddie got held back (at least that's how i wrote it here) -realistically the upside down is still happening but i just want steve to be happy so we're ignoring that (the upside down still exists and everything i just don't want to write abt it LOL) -lastly, this story is BASED off the prompt so it doesn't follow it exactly

It had started with nods in the hallways as they passed each other. 

Eddie never returned them, always too stunned to do anything.

There was no way Steve “The Hair” Harrington was actually acknowledging him, right? 

But then nods turned into small smiles and quick waves.

These Eddie managed to respond to. He would give Steve tight-lipped smiles and then quicken his steps to get away from the other man. He knew Steve had lost a lot of his friends because of Billy; the junior was determined to become the new king of Hawkins High. But Steve was still popular and popular people didn’t give Eddie “The Freak” Munson smiles or waves . They shoved him into lockers and jumped him after school. The only time the popular kids had conversations with him was when they wanted to buy weed from him. This was how it’s always been and that was fine with Eddie. 

So why was Steve Harrington so adamant about getting his attention?!  

The waves Eddie could handle, after all, it wasn’t like Steve and him were even talking. But the day Steve sat down at his lunch table was the last straw.

“Hey, Eddie!” he had said with a bright smile, sliding into the seat next to him.

Eddie froze and slowly turned over to look at him.

No way.  

“Uh… Hey, Harrington…” He looked over to his band mates for help but they were just as shocked as he was, “Can I help you?”

Steve shook his head, “Nah, man. Just wanted to sit here today. Is that cool?”

“…Yeah… man. That’s fine…”

There was a beat of awkward silence before Gareth asked Eddie about their new D&D campaign. Grateful for the distraction, Eddie had indulged them all with a few teasers, getting their interests piqued before shutting them down. 

“Nope! No more questions! You’ll have to wait until later today when we start playing.”

“Can I join?”

Eddie froze along with the other members. He had been trying to forget that Steve was sitting with them.

“You want to join Hellfire?” he blinked.

“Yeah, it seems interesting.”

Gareth interrupted, “Do you even play D&D?”

“No…,” He said with a frown, looking over at Eddie, “Do you think you could teach me?”

Eddie’s breath caught. Had Steve always been this pretty?  

He hoped nobody saw how red his face was, “Uh- Yeah. Sure. I’ll teach you.”

He heard a chorus of what?! around him but he silenced them with a hand, “Boys, we’re pushing the campaign to tomorrow after school. Harrington,” he began talking quieter, leaving the other members to complain amongst themselves, “If you want to play you’ll need to make a character using a character sheet. I can help you with that today if you want.”

Steve smiled at him, “Yeah, sounds good. Wanna come to my place after school?”

Eddie’s heart raced, “Sure.”

After school was over, Eddie followed Steve’s car with his van as the two made their way to Steve’s. He couldn't believe he was on his way to help Steve Harrington make a D&D character. He felt like he was dreaming. They reached the richer man's house quickly and the two men made their way inside.  

Eddie looked around the house as he toed off his sneakers and whistled, “Nice place you’ve got, Stevie.”

He swore he saw Steve blush, “Thanks, man. It’s nothing special, really.”

Eddie snorted, “I didn’t know King Steve could be so... humble .”

“Yeah, yeah. But listen, Eddie,” he looked nervous, “I’m not like that anymore. I’m not King Steve. And I’m sorry for the way I’ve treated you. You didn’t deserve it- you don’t deserve it.”

Eddie didn’t know what to say. Could someone like Steve, who had always acted so high and mighty, truly be sorry? Eddie didn’t want to be too vulnerable with Steve. This could all still be some sort of prank.

“It’s whatever, man. Forget about it.”

Steve nodded, “So, how do I make a character?”

That’s how Eddie Munson turned Steve Harrington into a Dungeons and Dragons player. He had joined Eddie’s campaign along with the Hellfire Club members. Even though he received a few looks in the beginning, by the end of the campaign the other members had accepted him into the club.

“Wait... so the bad guy was tricking us all along?”

“Yes!” They all groaned.

“Ohhhhh! Now I get it! How do we stop him?”

Eddie almost ripped all his hair out during the game.

It was scary how quickly Steve became a constant part of his life. Whether it was at lunch, after-school hangouts, or D&D campaigns; he was always with him. It got to the point where other students noticed, too. The rumor hill had been buzzing with stories, the most popular one being Steve and Eddie having some weird friendship for weed deal going on. Neither of them cared about what the others had to say and continued to hang out nearly every day.  

This was dangerous, though, because Eddie was falling fast for his new best friend. Steve and his perfect hair, and his stupid jokes, his ridiculously tight jeans, and his unbelievably pretty eyes. And, of course, Steve just had to be the touchiest person he’s ever met. Personal space just didn’t exist in Steve’s world and that made it increasingly difficult for Eddie to repress his feeling.

It all came to a boiling point one afternoon in Steve’s room.

They had decided to hang out and watch a movie like they normally did. The movie, however, was quickly forgotten in favor of talking. They sat close together on Steve’s living room floor, backs against the couch.

Steve touched Eddie’s hair, playing lightly with the curls, “How long did it take you to grow it out?”

Eddie tried to control his breathing, “Um- Like all of high school.”

Steve hummed, commenting offhandedly, “It’s shorter than it was before, though.”

Eddie furrowed his eyebrows, “What do you mean? This is the longest it’s ever been.”

As if only now realizing what he said, Steve’s eyes widened and he froze, “Um- I didn’t- I meant it used to be way shorter, right?” He finished off with a nervous chuckle.

Weird .

“Yeah, dark times,” he laughed lightly, “I used to have it buzzed in middle school. Never again.”

Steve’s gaze dropped down to Eddie’s forearm, “Have you ever thought of getting a tattoo here? Like bats or something?”

Eddie’s stomach dropped, “How’d you know that?”

Steve looked panicked, “Shit.”

“Steve. I’ve been thinking of getting that tatted for months. I haven’t told anyone about it. How’d you know?”

“Would you believe me if I said it was a lucky guess?”

Eddie have Steve an unimpressed look.

Steve sighed, “You wouldn’t believe me.”

Eddie took Steve’s hand in his, enjoying how Steve’s face flushed, “Try me.”

Steve took a deep breath, “I’m from two years into the future.”

Eddie’s jaw dropped. He had expected some sort of magic trick or something, not time travel.

“Are you serious?”

“As a heart attack.”

“Can you prove it?

Steve looked away in thought, “I mean I guess. But nothing that would make you believe me now.” He looked back at Eddie, “Metallica will come out with a new song in two years called Master of Puppets.”

Eddie took in this information. That would be fucking sick if Steve was right. Did he really believe him, though? But that would explain the tattoo…

Eddie hummed, “Guess I’ll just have to wait two years and get back to you.”

“Yeah. Guess so,” Steve chuckled.

A comfortable silence fell over the two as they looked at each other.

“…Eddie.” Steve looked apprehensive as he continued, “Being back gave me the chance to get to know you, and… I’ve realized something now.”

Great. This was when he told Eddie that he really was a freak. That he regretted all the time they spent together.

“What’d you realize?” It nearly killed Eddie to ask this.

“You’re nothing like I thought you’d be like. And I wish I’d got to know you in high school the first time around. Because maybe then…” Steve smiled at him, “Maybe then I would’ve realized that I liked you sooner. Like… like like you.”

Oh.

Oh.

“Can I kiss you, Stevie?”

“Please.”

They met in the middle for a kiss that was all teeth. It hurt a little but it felt so good. Steve’s hands made their way to Eddie’s hair. He tugged lightly, causing Eddie to groan into his mouth. They parted for air.

“Fuck , Harrington.”

Steve chuckled, “Don’t stop now, Munson.”

They continued like that for a while, neither of them getting enough of the other. Steve was quickly shown what he had been missing and God, he was obsessed with Eddie Munson. Eddie had managed to graduated that year, Steve being able to help him with school since he had taken the same classes before.

Two years later when Metallica published their latest song, Master of Puppets, Eddie nearly lost his mind  

Holy shit, he had thought.

Steve Harrington was actually from the fucking future.

so im just throwing this out there as an idea and im sure someone else has said so already but:

favorite songs are probably not the only way to release someone from vecna’s curse

i mean, we know nancy is currently vecna’d, will is gonna be vecna’d (and maybe mike), el might, and lucas might also.

it would be so repetitive if all of them were saved by music, wouldn’t it? like it’s just “oh no vecna got ‘em. quick pass me the walkman”

i could be very wrong and it will only be music, but i do wonder how they’ll do it so that it doesn’t feel like the same thing over and over again

i mean, i feel like it’s crucial for will to get saved by music because music has kinda been his saving grace since season 1. (and im still hoping mike is in some way the one to save him, whether it’s by singing or knowing what will’s favorite song is right on the spot <3)

but i don’t know about the others.
