Four Minus one: Fours got more secrets than most, and they’re not too keen to give them up to just anyone. Nothing about the smallest member of the Links is as it seems, but if the right person asks, at just the right time, they may just unravel a little bit more of the puzzle.

Chapter one- Come Back With a Warrant: Despite being warned that all was not what it seemed with the hero of this era the Links are still in for more surprises than they bargained for. Convincing them to join will prove to be a whole side quest, and the surprises will not stop there. im finally posting it! chapter two is mostly done, will be ready by next saturday, and the chapter im posting the saturday after that is done, so i think its safe to say that i can have an, at least mostly, consistent schedule for the time being!

Time was concerned that they had gotten the wrong house, and judging by the shuffling of some of his companions he wasn't the only one. The windows were dark despite it being early evening, the garden was starting to become overtaken by weeds and overgrowth, and there was a sign on the door to the forge saying that the owners were out of the country for business. Had the Princess Zelda of this era not sent them here herself, he would assume they had been sent here on a wild cucco chase. However, as it stood, the Princess's warning of "All is not as it seems," was making more sense by the second. Whatever the reason for their newest companion to leave his house in such a state, it was not because it was vacant. No noise could be heard from in the house as the group approached, but Wild perked their ears, telling Time that there must be something inside. The unspoken leader of the group finished the walk up the slightly overgrown path and knocked on the door, waiting a few moments before knocking again, slightly louder.

A few moments later movement could be heard from inside, and a slightly raspy voice called out, “Coming! Coming,” A pause as the door swung open and a young boy, looking no older than twelve or thirteen opened the door, “Whatever the Princess sent you for had better be important, I have a lot of work to do.” He looked up and Time was able to see the boy's face clearly. He had eye bags that could rival the vets, his hair was in a messy braid, and he was very pale. Hell, if the older Link didn’t know any better, between the boy’s appearance and the state his home was in, Time would swear this boy was a ghost. “You lot don’t look like knights? Did Do- er, Princess Zelda send you? Or are you here for the forge? It's closed at the moment I'm afraid.”

Time wasn’t sure who exactly this boy was, he looked younger than Wind, and though Time knew age was no determining factor on how capable a hero was, he hoped for his sake that this boy was not Link. A relative perhaps. Younger brother, or son, hopefully. He cleared his throat and went into business mode regardless. “We are not knights, we are traveling heroes, looking for the hero of this land, to ask him for assistance in defeating a great evil. Her Royal Highness, Princess Zelda, was kind enough to give us directions here. If Link is here we would greatly appreciate an audience with him, to discuss the matter at hand.”

The pleasant, but all business smile Time gave the boy was met with a scowl, and the older hero watched as several emotions ranging from anger, to sadness, to regret, and finally determination settled on the boy's face. “I am very sorry, but you have been misled, Link is dead.” And leaving no room for further discussion on the matter he shut the door in Times face.

There were a few moments of awkward silence before Legend coughed out a laugh, and spoke up. “Well then, I’d say that went well. Damn I really wish I had thought of that one when you lot came to pick me up.”

Hyrule raised an eyebrow at her, as they turned. "What do you mean by that?"

“Well, that was definitely Link, yea?” Sky pondered in response.

Time sighed, leading the group back the direction they came, towards the castle. “I’d say so, yes. He looked young, and tired, I don’t blame him for turning us away.”

“What’s the plan now then? Go talk to Princess Zelda again?” Twilight was practically dragging Wild away as he spoke, the younger not wanting to give up so easily.

"Well, she did warn us that this might be a difficult task,” Warriors matched stride with Time at the front “Maybe we have to find a way to convince him ourselves.”

Hyrule hummed in thought. "What if he really is dead? What if he's a ghost?"

"Then I vote we leave the poor kid alone. Hylia knows that when it's all over for me I have no intention of doing more work. Let me, or in this case, him, rest."

Wind shook his head at Rulie and Legend. "No, he wasn't a ghost. Although I think I can second that notion."

"Agreed." Twilight gave his mentor a pained look as Time spoke up. "The only thing that should come for the dead is rest."

“Excuse me! Young men!” The group's heads turned towards the voice, and they were met with a castle guard, looking to be in his early forties, on a horse that looked suspiciously like Epona. He slowed his stead to a stop alongside Time and Warriors. “Ah good. Hello! The Princess informed me there was a group of young Heroes looking for Link.”

“Yes, that would be us. Time.” Time moved to take the stranger's outstretched hand to shake.

“Are you him? We were led to believe we would be unsuccessful in finding him.”

The man chuckled, a fond smile gracing his lips. “I’d bet you where. But no, I am not Link. I am their father, Jol. Her Majesty's Head Guard. I do wonder what excuse my child gave this time. They are very busy with something, and would rather not step away if it’s not official business.”

“They told us, and I quote, ‘Link is dead’ and then shut the door in the old man's face.” Legend bumped her shoulder against Times arm as she spoke.

“Ah, a classic I see. They’ve tried using it on a few of the other guards,” Jol sighed, “As if those men didn’t all either help me raise them, or grew up with them themselves.” He looked over the whole group. “Interesting party you’ve got going on here though. Tell me, what exactly do you need Link for? Hylia knows they don’t need my permission to save Hyrule, again, but they won’t leave their current project without some kind of official order, so you might as well get it from me.”

Warriors spoke up this time, nudging Legend back out of the way as he did. “This may seem a bit strange.”

“I have seen Link do plenty of strange things at this point, I doubt you could truly shock me.”

“My name is Link, but all the heroes behind me call me Warriors. We are all heroes, from different eras, pulled together through time itself to stop a great threat to Hyrule.” Warriors paused to gauge Jol’s reaction, and to his credit the man seemed to be taking it well, save for a raised eyebrow. “We hope for the extra assistance your Link could lend us, but if they truly do not wish to come there is nothing we could, or would be willing to do, to make them. It is solely their choice.”

Jol sighed, and nodded his head back towards the house they had come from before encouraging his stead back into a walk. “Choices and orders be damned, they are a hero through and through. Once they actually hear you out they will be packing their bags before I can even get my two rupees into the conversation. Tell me honestly though, is this to do with Vaati?”

Wind tilted his head to the side. “Who’s Vaati?”

It was Legend who responded however. “Your child is the Hero of the Four Sword then? Fought Vaati three times before they finally managed to kill the mage. You must be early in Hyrule’s history.”

Jol’s answering smile didn’t quite reach his eyes, but he nodded nonetheless. “Yes. I am glad to hear this doesn’t seem to have anything to do with him. Link lost something very dear to them during their last fight, and I’d hate to know they’d have to face him again knowing it's still gone.”

Arriving back at the house Jol tied his horse to the fence before leading his guests into his kids house. There was light in the living room now, the fireplace and a few lanterns having been lit. They could hear shuffling in the kitchen and the young boy called out as soon as the door closed behind them. “Welcome back. Since father has deemed you trustworthy, feel free to sit anywhere. How many of you are there?”

Time herded his rascals into the sitting area as he responded. “Including your father, there are nine of us. I hope we aren't overcrowding you.”

“Nine? Hylia, there are eight of you.” The last part was mumbled out and hard to hear over the sound of pottery clinking together, as the newest Link stepped out with a tea tray with enough cups to accommodate everyone. “Might as well have invited all of Hyrule town. Again.”

Jol cleared a spot on the coffee table for Link to set down the tea.“Please, help yourselves. Now,” He turned back to his child, “I know you are busy, but would you at least hear these nice young heroes out?”

Link sat down on the armchair nearest the exit, carefully moving the large book that had prevented any of the others from sitting there. “No, because if I hear them out then I have to go with them. You know this.”

There was a hearty chuckle from Jol, and this time his smile did reach his eyes. “The floor is all yours.”

Time nodded in thanks, and set down his tea. “As I stated the last time we spoke, We are traveling heroes, looking for the hero of this land for their assistance in defeating a great evil. What we did not have time to explain is who we are. I am Link, the Hero of Time. The others call me Time, or Old Man, to keep things from being confusing, as we are all named Link. Something is pulling us together from different points in Hyrule’s history. We do not know fully what threat we are up against yet, but it appears someone has decided we are all needed to stop this.”

There was silence as Link seemed to study Time, trying to decide if he was telling the truth or not. Finally, with a nod and large sigh, they stood. “Well that certainly explains why that one seems to be wearing a sailcloth similar to our founder's prized garment. I’m guessing that’s not a replica.” When Sky nodded in affirmation they spoke again, “And is it safe to assume your problem has something to do with these portals that have been plaguing our neighbors?”

“The very same. One of them brought us here as well.” Warriors agreed with the young hero. With all the confirmation they needed, Link turned around and headed for the stairs.

There were a few murmurs of confusion, mostly from Wind, Wild, and Hyrule, but Jol quickly put them at ease with a smile. “Well, that went well. Give them a few moments to pack the things they don't keep ready to go.”

Hyrule caught Wind's teacup as the sailor doubled over in laughter. “Man! I thought you guys were kidding about how fast they would change their mind!” Several other Links joined in his laughter, excited to get to know their newest companion.

It really hadn't taken long for their newest companion to pack their things, and with them ready to go they quickly made introductions, Link quickly and easily accepted the nickname Four, taken from the hero title Legend had identified them with earlier. They wished their father farewell, asking him to deliver the news of what they were off to do to Princess Zelda and some other friends of theirs while cleaning up the tea set. After leading the others out and locking up the house they took stride next to Time, easily keeping up with the other despite their much smaller stature.

“So,” Twilight took place right behind them, with Warriors to his left, “Where we off to kid?”

“I guarantee you I am not as young as you think.” Time was the only one who could see Four glaring ahead of him at the comment, but they continued on regardless. “And as for your question, you lot said this is something to do with those portals, so we are heading to where the largest concentration of them have been. We’ve even seen a few strange monsters come out of the ones in this area.”

Warriors clapped Twilight on the shoulder as a few of the others snickered at the rancher getting told off behind them. “A wise decision, it will be good for us to see what kind of force our enemies are showing here. How much they are willing to spread to each era they invade will give us a good idea of how much they have in total, since they are clearly not just sticking to the monsters that belong in the given era.”

“Plus, now that we’ve found the hero, it’s time to get to the next portal again.” Wind wove his way up from the middle to be standing in the very front, so he could walk backwards, hands on the back of his head, looking right at Four as he spoke. “The portals don’t usually let us stick around too long after we’ve found the hero.”

Four grinned and raised an eyebrow. “So what you’re telling me is I should warn you before you trip backwards into one.”

Wind practically tripped over himself as he darted forward to avoid walking backwards into a portal, turning around as his companions all started to laugh, to see there was no portal behind him. “Hey! What the fuck man!” Wind imagined the glare he tried to send Four was lessened by the laugh in his own voice, but when he realized their newest companion was silent laughing with tears welled up from the force of it he let it slide. This time. But only because it was cool to see the newest Link fitting in so well already. Especially considering how worn out and miserable they had looked when they had first shown up.

“Sorry, sorry.” Four composed themself a little, and wiped a tear from their eye. ”That stance just reminded me of a… friend of mine. I Couldn’t resist.”

“One of the out of the country friends your father is going to notify?” Time inquired, a small grin still on his own face.

Four nodded with a chuckle. "Yes. He's part of the Royal Guard, out with a few others on official business. I've been keeping the group informed on the portal situation, in case it becomes more dire and we need them back. You lot talked to Princess Zelda, so you saw the state the castle is in. It's been just over a year and we're still rebuilding from Gannon and Vatti's last attack, another attack would call for all hands on deck."

“And now you’re leaving.” Warriors noted. “So you asked your father to notify them so they can come back?”

Four shook his head. “By the sounds of the last letter I got from them they should already be on their way back. It sounded like they were close to resolving the problem. I just didn’t want them to be surprised when they came home and found me gone again.”

“Do they live with you?” Wind was back to walking backwards, confident that his team would let him know if there really was a portal behind him.

Four’s steps stuttered for just a moment. “How’d-”

“Well the sign, on the forge, says the owner is out of the country for business.” Wind tilted his head in a shrug.

“Oh.” Four paused for a moment. “No, that's because I was meant to go with the group. Heroes duties and all that. But then the portals started showing up, and the Princess decided someone should stay behind to watch after them, so here I still am. I never took the sign down because I am far too busy, and I am technically out a lot checking on them, so I saw no point in changing the phrasing.”

Warriors nodded in understanding. “No one would come bother you but for official business with the sign up?”

“That was the plan at least,” Four sighed, “Though plenty of people still tried.”

Wind laughed, it was unsurprising that even busy and supposedly out of the country people still wanted the hero for something. “Like us?”

“By my understanding this is official business.” Four smirked, They were already far too invested in this to turn back now. “Or should I turn back now and head home?”

“I think it may be just a little too late to turn back now, friend.” Time nodded to a portal that had opened up right in their path. It was new, and they would have to get off the road to avoid it, so it was pretty obviously meant for them to go through. Four frowned and walked towards it. “Hold on now.”

“Trust me, I’m being careful. But this one is different from the others.” They circled it, and hesitantly poked it. Satisfied with whatever they felt from it they pulled their hand back and rested it against their chin, mumbling something inaudible as they became deep in thought. There were a few odd looks from the group before Four’s head snapped up to look at them. “Are

the ones you use to travel through all like this?”

Most of the group continued to look confused, nothing seemed to be different from these ones and the others, but Twilight and Hyrule both nodded, and Rulie spoke. “I’ve noticed that too. The ones meant for us seem to have light magic clinging around the edges.”

“Even though the portals themselves are made with dark magic. Fascinating.” Four had pulled a journal off their side and started writing as they spoke. “Whoever is calling us all together is of light magic, they have just hijacked the portals whoever is causing this made. Likely because it was quicker or easier than trying to replicate it with light magic.”

Warriors quirked an eyebrow. “How can you guys tell?”

Four looked shocked, like they had not realized the others could hear them, but Twilight and Hyrule both spoke at once. “Quest thing.”

Four was relieved when the others all took that as an acceptable answer and nodded in agreement. “It is indeed a quest thing.”

“Oh! That’s right.” Hyrule turned now to Four. “We all have our traumas and secrets, unless it is one that may put the team at risk we will never push for an answer. I can’t promise that some of us won’t snoop.” Fae turned to look pointedly from Wind to Wild and then to, surprisingly, Legend. “But if you ever don’t wish to talk about something that happened before meeting us you can explain that it's a quest thing. We won't push. At least in the moment.”

There were nods of agreement as Sky spoke up. “We had a few disagreements back when it was just a couple of us before we came up with that rule.”

Legend snickered. “If by disagreements you mean full blown arguments. Some of us are more willing to discuss their travels than others.”

“Count me amongst the second group then.” Four hummed in thought. “You all seem nice enough, but we would be here a while if I was willing to discuss all three of my adventures with you. Hylia, the last one alone would take at least a week to explain.”

Four knew their new companions all thought they were younger then they actually are, so the shocked reactions were not unexpected, though Time not being surprised was a bit shocking. “If you don’t mind me asking, how old were you when you started? Some of the others were teenages, but a few of us were pretty young ourselves.”

Four thought about it for a moment, but Time seemed to be implying that he was one of the younger ones, so they felt that at least they wouldn't get judgment for it from the eldest Link. “Seven. But there was a bit of a break before my next one, at ten.” They paused to gadge reactions. “And the last one lasted a year, so it started a little over two years ago.”

Time nodded, still seeming to be the only one relatively unphased by this. “Well, at three adventures you’re in the running with me for catching up to Legend for most, but she’s still got us both beat at five. You do, however, have me beat for age. I had just turned nine on my first.”

Warriors, Four guessed one of the older ones during his quest, shook his head. “No. No way we are just brushing past them saying they where fucking seven on their first quest!”

“I think we are.” Four shrugged. They had definitely had enough time to come to terms with it over the years, and besides, only one so young could have worked with the Minish as they had.

Sky stepped forward, trying to disperse the tension, and motioned towards the portal that had been sat waiting for them all this time. “Well then, it seems it’s time for us to be off once again. Not that there is anything that can be done now, but are you ready Four?”

Four’s eyes were shining with a curiosity that seemed to be completely overriding whatever had them upset when the group had gotten to their house, and they nodded as they restashed their book in its holster. “I am ready.”

“That’s the spirit!” Twilight clapped Four on the back as he and Wild made their way to the portal.

“The hero's spirit.” Time chuckled. “We normally buddy up, Knowing Wind he wants to go with you now.”

“Aw man!” Wind did walk over and take Four’s hand. “Time you’re taking all the fun outta calling dibs!”

Four looked shocked at how direct Wind was, but chuckled as Time began to speak again. “Right. So I will be accompanying you two. Twilight has Wild. Legend, I know you’ll be going with Hyrule. Warriors and Sky, is that alright?”

The two nodded and Warriors’ “Perfectly fine” mixed with Sky’s “Sounds perfect, thank you.”

Four Smiled as their new friends lined up to enter the portal. They were by no means a well-oiled machine, but they had fallen into a rhythm that clearly worked for them, and had this been a few years ago Four would feel out of place in it. Indignant of it even. Upset that fate was forcing them to play the part of a single part of a larger team. Now, however? Today they smiled, Time on one side and Wind on the other as they entered a portal. They were doing this with a team by their side. Fellow heroes. Friends. Family, perhaps. They were home.

you took your time gazing at the broken statues, still beautiful in their aged glory. today was one of your rare days off, and you chose to spend it by indulging yourself in a museum visit - you hadn’t been to one in a while, and you missed the serenity of being able to immerse yourself in bits of history.

holding your coffee to your chest, you lost in yourself in one of the paintings, your consciousness entirely absorbed by what you saw as anguish and torment in each brushstroke.

“what’s he looking at?” hange whispered to erwin, pointing at levi.

“i think that person,” erwin whispered back, following levi’s gaze.

levi had stayed in your section of the museum for an uncharacteristically long time, reflecting upon the works, but also stealing little glances in your direction that hadn’t gone unnoticed by his friends.

you caught and held his attention swiftly, more than any of the artwork displayed around the room. he hadn’t even realized how often he was looking at you - it was as though you were magnetic; his gaze automatically pulled towards you.

“jesus, just talk to them,” erwin finally hissed at levi, perplexed yet slightly amused as he watched his friend’s cheeks tinge red.

“who?” levi snapped.

“that person you’ve been staring at for the past eight or so minutes,” hange whispered in a sing-songy voice. “don’t even try to argue the eight minutes - we’ve been counting.”

levi’s eyes narrowed as he tried to conceal his embarrassment, entirely caught in the act.

“it’s nothing, i’m not gonna say anything,” he muttered, looking down.

nothing’s going to happen if we push him too far, erwin thought, sighing. he exchanged a knowing glance with hange, deciding to take action on his own.

“let’s just go,” levi muttered, heading for the hallway leading into the next room.

hange nodded imperceptibly towards erwin as he started to walk with levi.

“i’ll come with you in a sec! just gonna look at a couple more paintings,” hange said offhandedly.

levi turned, raising his eyebrow, but didn’t question them.

hange waited innocently, making sure levi had left the room.

“hi!” they said, sidling up to you.

“hi,” you responded, confused. do i know them?

“i’m so sorry if this comes off strangely,” hange chuckled. “but… i have a friend who was just in here, and he couldn’t seem to take his eyes off of you, but he was too shy to speak with you himself.”

they pulled their phone out, swiping until they found a candid photo of levi taken earlier that day.

“here, this is what he looks like,” hange said, handing you their phone. “he has no idea i’m doing this, by the way.”

skeptical, you took their phone timidly.

woah, he’s hot, you thought, trying to keep your face as neutral as possible. the photo captured levi inspecting a statue, his sharp features and intense gaze essentially comparable to the statue’s.

“i was wondering if you’d be interested in going on a date with him,” hange continued, noticing your fixated gaze. “he’s a really great and respectful guy, i truly can vouch for him.”

what if this is a human trafficking scheme? you thought warily to yourself, thinking that this moment seemed a little too ‘wattpad-esque’ to be realistic.

hange sensed the caution in your face. “of course, you can say no - please don’t feel obligated to say yes, or anything.”

you know what? fuck it.

“um, as long as it’s a public place, i’m down,” you said finally, smiling politely.

a wide grin spread across hange’s cheeks, genuine thrill and delight twinkling in their eyes.

“wait, really!? um, can i get your number and i’ll set up a ‘blind’ date between you two? he would kill me if he found out i was doing this,” they said excitedly.

“sure,” you agreed, tapping in your digits. “here you go.”

“great,” hange said, “wow, thank you! i’m hange, and his name is levi, by the way. levi ackerman. i swear, he’s an amazing man.”

levi ackerman. the name just sounded like it would roll right off the tip of your tongue.

you smiled softly, your heart fluttering in anticipation. “i’m y/n, and sure - i’ll take your word for it.”

the rest of your day continued as you’d planned. you liked going on dates with yourself - taking yourself out around the city was your form of destressing and relaxation, but your encounter with hange earlier added a pleasant thrill to your day. an unexpected one, but pleasant nonetheless. judging from the picture, levi seemed refined, graceful - and he was too shy to come up to you? you were flattered.

ding!

Maybe: Hange: Hi! This is Hange, from earlier today in the museum. Is this y/n? you: Yes! Hi :) Maybe: Hange: Yay! When would work for you for a date?

you paused, switching apps to google calendar. honestly… you weren’t that free after today. you bit your lip. it might be a bit sudden, but…

you: Actually, is tonight okay? I don’t think I’ll have a lot of time after today Maybe: Hange: Let me check in with Levi

you sighed, wondering if you’d made the right decision. going on a blind date with a stranger was something that was slightly uncharacteristic of you, but… it wouldn’t hurt, right?

“levi,” hange’s voice was serious.

“huh?” levi looked up, annoyed. they’d gone to get some lunch after they were done at the museum.

“go on a blind date.”

“what?” levi held his teacup halfway to his face, pausing in disbelief.

“there’s this person that i think would be perfect for you, and you haven’t dated anyone in ages,” hange said lightheartedly. “just go on this blind date once and if it doesn’t go well, then you can punch me.”

“i can’t punch you now?”

“no,” hange replied, taking a bite of their sandwich. “only if the date goes badly.”

“hange told me about them, i think they’d be a good fit for you,” erwin commented, testing the waters. “definitely your type.”

“my type?” levi questioned, raising an eyebrow. “and what exactly is my type?”

“uh-” erwin stammered.

“listen, they’re only free tonight, and you’re both here in the same area so why not? i promise you you’ll like them. just trust me for once,” hange interjected.

i am going to kill them if this turns out to be a waste of time, levi fumed. he closed his eyes, sighing. “it’d better be worth it.”

“so tonight works, right?” hange asked excitedly, picking up their phone to text you.

“you just told me they can only do tonight--”

levi’s words were lost on hange - they were already halfway done with their text to you.

Maybe: Hange: He’s free this evening! Is 7pm a good time?

7pm? you thought, checking the time. that should be enough time to freshen up.

you: Sure, that works! Maybe: Hange: Are you comfortable with choosing a spot/is there a place you have in mind?

huh. where should we go? you thought, your mind blanking. you’d never gone on a first date with a complete stranger before.

fuck it, you thought, lips curling up into a faint smile. this is my last free night. might as well make the most of it - and if he doesn’t like it… then oh well.

when you were younger, you would talk with your friends about what you wanted an ideal first date to be like. movies and shows always portrayed classic first dates with restaurants and wine or going to the movies, but you’d always wondered what it would be like to have a first date at an arcade.

of course, that was when you were younger, but what’s the difference as an adult? adults can still enjoy arcades, right? luckily, there happened to be one in your area.

you: I’m not sure what kind of person he is, but I was thinking of heading to the arcade nearby! I can send you the name and address Maybe: Hange: Love it. He’ll meet you there :)

choosing the arcade was admittedly an impulsive choice, but it was too late to turn back now. you headed there determinedly, thinking that if he turned out to be a no-show or someone lame, at least you could enjoy yourself at the arcade on your last free day. win-win situation, you figured.

seeing the glimmering neon lights of the familiar buzzing windows, you smiled to yourself as you pushed open the door, nearly knocking into a clean-cut man who seemed to utterly not belong.

he turned, annoyed, but his eyes widened as he saw your unsuspecting face.

“oh - sorry!” you exclaimed, hoping you didn’t actually hit him. you pushed past him, heading for the front desk worker. “hi! do you know if there’s a levi waiting for anyone here?”

the employee smiled politely, gesturing to the man you’d just pushed past. surprised, you turned to look at him more closely, finding that his eyes were still just as wide as they were moments ago.

“levi?” you asked. you hummed appreciatively in your head - he really is attractive, you thought. at least there’s that. “hi! i’m y/n.”

it was as though the moment played itself in slow-motion for levi - he’d just barely agreed to this date, walking into the arcade with almost no expectations at all. for him, the moment in which you glanced at him was ethereal; your hair rustled, settling back to frame your face as your eyes widened worriedly, hidden under delicate lashes.

try as he did, a look of surprise washed across his face as he recognized you from the museum.

suddenly, it clicked.

hange-- the memory of hange innocently staying back as he and erwin left flashed across his mind as faint embarrassment flushed his cheeks.

“yes, i’m levi,” he said curtly, trying desperately to curtail the mix of anxiety and thrill flaring up through his throat.

“nice to meet you!” you smiled, starting to open your bag. “ah - we should get entry tickets.”

he shook his head, waving two pieces of paper in his hand. “i already paid.”

“ah,” you trailed off, surprised.

the scent of clean linen mixed with fresh cedar wafted past you as he delicately handed you yours.

“so… an arcade?” levi had to ask. even if it was for you, the last place he thought he’d ever find himself was in a retro-themed arcade.

you giggled softly, pulling him along with you by the end of his shirt cuff. “you don’t like it? i just thought it’d be different, i don’t know.”

as disinterested as levi seemed outwardly, he was actually even more intrigued by you after hearing your answer.

a blind date with a total stranger at an arcade just because it’d be different? they’re... special, he thought, yet undeniably enamored.

“hmm, what game should we play?” you wondered aloud, searching around the room for a game you wanted to play first.

you glanced at levi, hoping that he’d suggest something. he was gazing at one of the horror-themed games. i guess he likes jump scares, you thought. you could only guess, after all - he still hadn’t said much.

“that one?” you pointed towards it, lightly tugging him again.

truth be told, levi hadn’t been paying much attention. you made him slightly nervous, and he wasn’t the most familiar with arcades. he’d happened to be staring at that game because it was in front of him; there was a chance that if he were to look at you, he wouldn’t be able to look away.

you could feel yourself slightly overcompensating for his seeming lack of enthusiasm, but you found that you didn’t really mind. being in the arcade made you feel giddy and lighthearted - a feeling you hadn’t had in a long time. and levi seemed interesting, at the very least. stoic on the outside for sure, but you also felt like you could get him to crack with some marginal effort.

settling into the game booth and closing the curtains on both sides, he swiped the points card.

what is this game? he wondered. seems… silly.

the overdramatic game music and animations were trivial to levi, but as he looked at you through his peripheral vision, he could tell how fully immersed you were into the game.

… cute, he caught himself thinking.

your hands gripped the plastic gun with fervor, your knuckles turning white with how tightly you gripped the handle. for all of your concentration on the screen, though, you couldn’t seem to hit a single target.

“tch,” levi laughed. was it a laugh? either way, it was the most emotion you’d gotten out of him yet, but you were preoccupied - zombies were about to kill you.

boom! boom! boom!

the game sounds reverberated around the walls of the tiny booth, causing you to flinch into his side.

levi had easily killed the zombies that were targeting your character, glancing at you once you winced.

the sudden body contact caused his heart to beat wildly, yet somehow… calmed him down.

maybe it was your openness, maybe it was time, maybe it was just you - but levi felt as though he could finally relax, now.

feeling the relief wash over him, he chuckled openly, rustling your hair with his free hand.

it was your turn to feel nervous; his unexpected actions causing a flurry of butterflies to erupt in your stomach. you stilled, feeling warmth spread to your cheeks as you blocked out nearly everything but the feeling of his hand on your head.

you were glad you went with the spontaneous choice and picked the arcade.

arcades, levi thought. they’re not… bad.

and in that moment, it was as though your minds were linked:

I can't with Stucky anymore. Like what were you watching if you think Peggy and Steve were forced? Where? Is there a special version of Captain America available somewhere else? Like, help? Do you get your bi card revoked if you love Steve and hate Stucky. Must I return it if I really really don't "see" the subtext? Like, tell me please, I love being bisexual, I don't want to return my card. Sorry for the rant, love your blog.

Apparently we must turn in our bi cards together.

Here, look, here’s the situation. I get why Stucky is a thing. They’re good men, they’re hot, loved each other forever, always rescuing each other, etc. I get it. I don’t ship it personally, but I absolutely get it.

I get not liking Peggy. I don’t agree with it, at all, but I get it. Neither of those things on their own are my problem with it. Stucky in my opinion is fine.

The problem is, Stucky was not queerbaited. Queerbaited is…this site has no understanding of that word anymore. Stucky was never once teased as something that was going to be part of the canon. Just because they are in the movies together and they gaze longingly into each other’s eyes (depending who you ask) and you want them to be a couple, does not mean you were queerbaited. Not when Steve’s only 2 canon relationships are with women. Not when they’re joking about the girl Bucky spent 50 bucks on (in today money) at Coney Island. Not when both of them are only ever shown dating/being interested in women. The only romances we see with Bucky are the girl from the fair in First Avenger, the above mentioned girl from Coney Island, and now the girl he went on the date with in ep 1 of FatWS.

Does this mean it’s a bad ship? Fuck no. Does this mean you cannot perceive them as any sexuality that you want? Fuck no. Does this mean gay ships are bad? Fuck. No. Does this mean Steve, Bucky, or anyone else is automatically straight because they’re only shown dating the opposite sex? Fuck. No.

What it means is that you weren’t queerbaited, because canon never once indicated it would go that way. What it means is that there’s no canon proof you can point to to say with certainty that, canonically, these men were romantically interested in each other. Subtext is subjective, and subtext does not automatically equal queerbait.

The only shippers who were unequivocally misled by canon are Staron people, because they hinted at that, it’s comics canon, and then they never did anything with it.

So that’s problem one. You can dislike the canon ship and wish yours was a thing without claiming queerbait, because you were not.

Other problem: You can dislike Peggy without pretending she was just there as a love interest for Steve, because that’s literally not the case.

Here’s a list of things that Peggy has done outside of Steve’s films, if I miss anything, feel free to add.

· The Agent Carter oneshot in 2013 that led to the show.

· The appearance on AoS.

· Agent Carter the TV show

· Marvel Puzzle Quest game where she’s an au version of Cap.

· Exiles comics where she’s an AU version of Cap.

· Upcoming What If series where she plays Cap

· Upcoming Women of Marvel comic where she’s going to be Cap again.

You can hate her, but don’t act like she’s “just a love interest.” Not when she founded SHIELD, upon which so much MCU stuff hinges, and not when she’s done so many things beyond Steve’s films.

Not all hetero couples are inherently the root of evil because they’re hetero, either, but that’s another conversation for me to be stabbed over.

Any followers I might have who like Stucky, it is not your ship that I take issue with. It’s the blatant misuse of terms by some in the fanbase, and the need to shit all over a woman’s accomplishments just because she got in the way of a ship.

I fucking hate Tony, for the most part, after IM 3, but I’m not gonna sit here and say that he literally never did one good thing in 10 years of movies. (Others will disagree with me there too, this is fine, just my take).

Anyway just, yeah, I’ll just wait for the hate mail now I guess, and cry myself to sleep when I get it.

Jacks & Viper

⭐️ There is VERY little that Jacks wouldn’t do for Viper. It’s been so long since he’s felt any form of connection from another person that Jacks probably clings a little too tightly to that.

⭐️ Whiskey has taken on a secret meaning between them for ‘i’m sorry’. After a fight or if the other is reopening an old wound in themselves a bottle of whiskey is soon bought to the scene. It’s not that they can’t verbalise those two words to each other but they’re both stubborn and sometimes ‘i’m sorry’ is easier to hear when it’s not said out loud.

⭐️ Jacks WOULD hide a body/cover up a crime scene for Viper. But he would also probably vomit...a lot. And pass out. And honestly at some point you’ve just got to admit that whilst the THOUGHT is there practically speaking he would just be a god damn liability.

⭐️ Because of the scarring(or rather the implications of the scars) Jacks doesn’t like holding hands. That being said Viper is the one person he will reach across and give her hand a gentle squeeze sometimes. It’s never a long touch and only on the rare occasions he feels its needed but it IS there. She’s also the one person he wouldn’t flinch his own hand away from if she reached for his.

⭐️ Jacks doesn’t realise Viper’s crush on him but if he did oh hens my heart is weak because he would be so SOFT and capable of more gentleness than he knows. it would mean so much to Jacks to let Viper know that even though he can’t return her affections in that particular way he LOVES her, completely and unconditionally. man, i get real emotional over this every time we talk about it but jUST. he loves her so much ok so v much and like a lil gentle hand squeeze when he realises and a ‘i get it. it’s gonna be tough to find someone prettier than me’ but also a ‘but god, look at you, you’re beautiful and you’re gonna find someone so much better’

Estela & Viper

⭐️ Every year for Christmas Estela goes ENTIRELY over board on decorations. Everything has to match a particular colour theme and each ornament has to reflect the light in a CERTAIN way. It is a complete ordeal that extends throughout the December months. Despite this Viper is allowed ONE decoration on the holy shrine for a tree and undoubtedly it’s like a miniature Tennessee whiskey bottle or something that she just knows Estela is going to hate. And Estela just accepts it. Because. GOD. If this isn’t the woman she loves.

⭐️ One year Viper bought Alejandro a Christmas jumper. but like, a real weird knitted turtle neck type deal with snowmen and robins on it and Estela found it the most hilarious thing she’d seen all year and every year on Christmas eve they put it this solemn 100 pound Doberman.

⭐️ Following from that with other doggy head canons, Viper is the only person Alejandro relaxes around beyond Estela. It took a fair amount of time before the guard dog realised Viper was the OPPOSITE of a threat. But now on quiet evenings he’ll even rest his giant head on her lap.

⭐️ Estela feels TREMENDOUS guilt over her feelings for Viper. Knowing that her selfishness is putting Viper’s life and health in jeopardy leaves a permanently bitter taste in her mouth.

( perhaps that’s why it’s so unfair that Vipers kisses taste so sweet. )

⭐️ Estela’s love for Viper is subtle but also entirely obvious if you know where to look. It’s in the slight shifts of movements that follow Viper’s, aware of the others motions without having to look. Or the way her gaze lingers a little too long, always captivated, hooked on whatever Viper is doing.

⭐️ cliché but Estela steals Vipers clothes...... a lot.

⭐️ Viper is the only person who can make Estela blush. And this was going to be a stand alone point because let’s face it, we love to see it. But also Viper is the only person who can make Estela snort with laughter or cry in an argument or leave her jaw aching from smiling. Viper is the only person who makes Estela act human.

Mila & Viper

⭐️ Mila finds herself drawn towards Viper’s aura whilst also being disconcerted by it. She finds it entirely difficult to get an accurate read on just who Viper is from energy alone. At some point I feel as though Mila would abandon her ‘sight’ and trust Viper for how she presents herself. Although the collateral fall out from that if Mila ever did discover Viper’s occupation would be... uh oh.

⭐️ Still kind of relating onto that point !! (my bad. it’s just a v interesting dynamic ok !!) Mila is very black and white on morality. She would/will/does trust Viper implicitly and entirely naively as an older sister figure in her life and someone she could admire and depend upon. And that black and white stance would be entirely challenged and crumbled upon realising that whilst she is safe with Viper that doesn’t mean everyone else is safe around Viper either.

⭐️ I like to think that maybe Mila’s seen little flashes of Viper in the corner of some of her visions. A strand of hair or a familiar gait. Little flickers that wouldn’t quite add up unless she knew that Viper had been at the heart of some of those deaths.

⭐️ Softer head canon to end on but Mila defo still has that umbrella. It’s one of her favourites now. Nobody tell her where Viper got it from, I mean it - NO one.

Lex & Martin

⭐️ Yeets these two in here because i am weak. but martin got to meet lex in such a rarely vulnerable state that already there is a very fragile flammable bridge of trust between them. Martin got to see lex as an actual KID. A scared little boy that wanted his mum or his dad or anyone at all. and don’t get me wrong, a huge amount of trust comes from the fact that Martin is (beautiful n lovely n too pure) gentle and just happens to be there at the right time but ALSO he sounds like the kid’s home and he sounds like safety n im gonna cry now ty

⭐️ Lex lashes out A LOT at martin before he really gets to know him. his dad always taught him that doctors were bad news and he feels exposed that the first time they met he was so vulnerable. but martin just?? responds with honesty and gentleness always and lex ??? needs that. and in a matter of months the kid looks up to him and wants to be more like him.

⭐️ lex absolutely wouldn't know how to express love especially when it borders on parental so he just leaves the weirdest gifts for martin. the WEIRDEST. a tube of fruit pastels. a dying house plant. a funky looking bone that he found the other day. the gifts make little to no sense but the fundamental binding feature is that NONE are stolen. he saves up scraps and pennies to make martin proud rather than steal something on the side.

⭐️ i know we talked about this over discord but my fave unofficial headcanon is that if/when lex ever finds out that Martin isn’t technically Scottish his brain would just ??? implode. the singular brain cell would just ... frazzle. would pretend to understand but the inside of his brain would just be ( X )

How many espers does it take to rescue one abducted conman?

Months after the events of the World Domination arc, Reigen disappears sometime between leaving the office and after-work plans. Serizawa finds himself the unwilling leader of a bunch of former Claw members and a couple of stubborn teenagers, determined to get Reigen back.

Chapter 1 Reigen swung his legs down from where they’d been propped up on his desk and stared, flabbergasted, at Serizawa. "What do you mean, you ‘thought it was cute!?’ That spirit had three rows of teeth! And I would know, I got the best look at them!" Serizawa came out of his reverie with a start, nearly dropping his mug, instantly apologetic. "It, it was just so small… I was just wishing I’d come up with another way to stop it, but I didn’t have time for anything but an exorcism when it went straight for your face!” Serizawa sputtered. Reigen continued to stare at him, now merely projecting indignation to hide his growing amusement. “It was fluffy! And, and pink!" Serizawa flushed. "I like pink." Reigen couldn��t hold back; he burst into laughter, putting his own mug down before he could slosh tea all over his desk. Serizawa flushed a deeper shade of red, ducking his head a little, but Reigen still saw his small, sheepish grin. “You’ve been spending too much time with Matsuo lately, to start thinking of them as cute,” Reigen said, wiping at his eyes as his laughter finally died down.

It was almost six p.m., approaching closing time at the Spirits & Such office, and Reigen was procrastinating on completing some insurance forms to chat with Serizawa over tea. A leisurely teatime had become something of an end-of-the-day ritual for them over the past few weeks, ever since Serizawa’s break from classes meant he was able to stay at the office until closing. Reigen found the ritual comforting – and had been chagrined to realize just how much he enjoyed having the company. If he was honest with himself, he was secretly resenting the day when night classes started back and he would lose this time to Serizawa’s other interests and school friends. Less selfishly, though, he’d been pleased that the extra time Serizawa spent at the office meant Reigen could watch even more of his ongoing transformation from the timid and insecure man he’d started as to the quiet, confident professional he was becoming. Reigen had recently even been encouraging him to deal directly with the customers – though never without his being there, of course. Reigen considered himself quite necessary to this business, particularly when a client’s problems weren’t actually spiritual in nature. And whenever something got complicated in an actual exorcism, he was there to smooth it over. He and Serizawa had fallen into a pattern, one that resembled less that of an employer and employee and more that of a partnership: the businessman who got the jobs and the esper who completed them. It was… nice. Reigen thought he might even be able to call Serizawa a friend – but he’d been wrong before. And he didn’t want to jinx it. You had to take jinxes seriously in his profession. “Reigen? What are you looking at?” Reigen focused his eyes to find that’s he’d been staring straight into Serizawa’s puzzled face for the past however many minutes. He blinked. “Oh, sorry! I was thinking about something else.” He realized belatedly that the other man was packing up in preparation to leave. Serizawa’s emptied mug sat on his own desk, the surface streaked with a pattern of yellow-orange lines from the light of the setting sun filtering through the blinds. “Right, ‘bout that time, isn’t it.” Reigen drained the rest of his own lukewarm cup and stood to stretch, joints popping. He asked, casually, “You doing anything interesting tonight?” Serizawa snapped his bag closed. “Oh, I’m getting drinks with Minegishi and Koyama and them – the usual bunch.” Reigen felt the sinking feeling in his gut that tended to rear its ugly head every time Serizawa mentioned hanging out with his friends, either from school or, increasingly lately, some of the other former Claw members. It was stupid. Reigen was glad Serizawa was building healthy relationships and integrating himself back into society. He really was; in fact, he was incredibly proud of the progress Serizawa had made after being so shut off for most of this life, and then horrifically misled, and even, Reigen suspected, emotionally abused. But there was still a small, terrible part of him that whispered, nastily, that Serizawa was now actually fitting into society better than he himself did, and just what did that say about the sad state of his own life? He was being petty, and jealous, and awful. He knew it. Which, really, had to be a sign that he was improving – he’d learned his lesson about trying to manipulate people into spending time with him with his mistakes with Mob, and now recognized the inclination when it appeared. He fought it by being twice as encouraging. “Sounds like fun! You’ve really been spending a lot of time with them lately, huh? Probably good for you all, like… a Claw recovery group or something-” “Actually, I was, uh, going to ask you, if you’d like to join us?” “Oh!” Reigen paused to school his expression into one of only minor interest, even as excitement bubbled up in his chest. “Ah, well, I do have some plans for this evening, of course, but really it’s nothing important, I can probably rearrange… uhh, although-” Reigen remembered something slightly awkward. “Do you think it’s been enough time that they’ve gotten over the… misunderstanding about my psychic abilities..?” Serizawa’s face broke into a grin that he quickly tried to hide with his hand. “Yes, don’t worry it’s all fine. Once they got over their anger at being tricked, they decided that tricking them so thoroughly was a talent by itself, not to mention all the things you’ve therefore managed to accomplish without psychic powers. They chalked it all up to your extraordinary leadership abilities and by the end of it were just twice as impressed. And,” Serizawa added, blushing again for no reason that Reigen could see, “I think they’d be happy to see you again.” Reigen stood a little straighter. “Well, that’s, that’s good. Very good. I mean, I am rather impressive… ok then. So, yes. Drinks. Happy to join you! Just gotta, finish up some paperwork and stuff, and, yeah I’ll, I’ll meet you there.” Serizawa beamed. Reigen blinked, caught completely off-guard. That was a rare expression from his nervous employee, and it was… like the sun coming out. He almost – almost – told Serizawa that the smile looked good on him, or something similarly unforgivably cheesy, before shoving the reckless inclination aside. But that grin begged for a response, and he couldn’t help but give a half smile in reply. Once Serizawa had left, Reigen scrambled to finish up the paperwork – it really did have to be sent before tomorrow, damn it all. Once it was sloppily signed, scanned, and faxed, he stepped into the bathroom. Reigen eyed himself critically in the bathroom mirror. Drinks. With a coworker. Or, employee – whatever. With a friend? A friend, and his friends. The suit he had on was probably okay for that, right? Or should he change? He had a spare suit stashed in his desk – but then he’d just be changing one very similar suit for another, that was stupid. He had another tie somewhere though, a darker one, more suited for a night out… No, no, then Serizawa would know that he’d bothered to overthink this enough to change what he was wearing, and- He took a breath. Which is exactly what you’re doing, overthinking. This is just some casual, after-work drinks, with a coworker who might be a friend, and some other acquaintances. Er, most of whom had tried to harm either himself or one of the teenagers in his care on at least one occasion, and that detail somehow managed to be at the bottom of his pile of worries- Stop. Deeper breath. One last look in the mirror to check his hair, which looked the same as it always did, and he turned to march out the door. Just be… casual. Breezy. Yeah, breezy. Smooth. He tripped on the rug on his way out the door. *** Serizawa tapped his fingers anxiously against his glass, glancing at his watch before taking an automatic sip of his water. “So ya finally asked ‘im?” Koyama slapped Serizawa on the back in congratulations as he slumped into an empty seat at their usual table, tucked into the back of the dive bar. Serizawa let out a small noise, both in protest and in reaction to the rather forceful hit; Koyama tended to forget his strength in his enthusiasm, and he fancied himself a matchmaker. Serizawa felt his cheeks grow warm for what must have been the dozenth time that day. “Just… just to join us for drinks! You know, like, like friends! Not, um, not like that. I told you, I still don’t know if he’s interested that way!” Koyama grinned hugely anyway, raising his eyebrows suggestively, before taking a long pull from his beer bottle. It was true – Serizawa found it incredibly difficult to tell what Reigen really felt about anyone. No, that was a lie; to anyone who spent any amount of time around him, Reigen was obvious about who he genuinely liked, and who he was just pretending to be nice to. Serizawa was just still uncertain about whether Reigen felt anything more towards him than simple friendship. At first he’d blamed himself for this, thinking it was his own lack of social skills that clouded his ability to determine how other people felt. He supposed, sighing heavily, that he should be grateful to have friends who cared so much. “So,” Tsuchiya asked as she slid back into her seat, fresh bottle in hand, “…when is he gonna get here?” Serizawa checked his watch again. It had now been over an hour since he’d arrived. “I’m sure he’ll be here any minute now.” *** Reigen was running late. When the almost-unintelligible voice came over the train speakers yet again, announcing their second delay of the night, he cursed loudly. The woman sitting next to him with a young child in her lap turned to look at him disapprovingly, covering her child’s ears. Oh, don't be so overdramatic. No way kids that young understand words like- The toddler turned her pigtailed head to look over at Reigen, smiling cherubically, and opened her mouth. “Fuck!” She gleefully bounced up and down, repeating the word. The mother glared at him with murder in her eyes. Reigen decided it might be best if he just walked the rest of the way to the bar. He was pretty confident that he knew the way, and at this point it’d probably be no slower than waiting for the train – not to mention the lowered risk of homicide. *** Reigen was lost. He examined the map on his phone again, following the path through virtual streets with one finger. When he thought he had it memorized he tucked the phone back into his pocket and strode confidently down the street. He was determined to follow the map from memory; he didn’t want to look like one of those people who had to follow their phones every step of their route. Despite the cooling evening air, he’d begun to sweat at his brisk pace. Of course. The sweat really wasn’t that unusual for him though; Serizawa probably wouldn't even notice. Maybe the other espers wouldn’t either… Who all had Serizawa said would be there? He couldn’t remember. Some from the former Seventh Branch, for sure – he found he was actually somewhat eager to see them again. He’d been weirdly proud of them when they’d shown up out of nowhere to band together and fight against the organization they’d once been a part of. I mean, Claw had gone after them first, but he liked to think he’d been a good influence on their decision to rejoin non-esper society- A car he hadn’t heard coming up behind him pulled up next to the curb. Reigen stepped back in surprise, all thoughts of espers jolted from his mind. The driver window rolled down to reveal a dark-haired woman, smiling at him just a little sheepishly. “Excuse me, sir? We’re looking for the closest train station to drop my husband off, any chance you could point us in the right direction?” Reigen liked to be helpful, but halted his automatic response, taking a another hesitant step back from the car and the woman inside it. Something seemed… off. The sedan was a relatively new model, but not too pricy, and dark in color; the textbook definition of ‘inconspicuous.’ Except that the vibe the blandly-smiling woman gave off was just a bit wrong; her eyes were too intense for her mild expression. Reigen’s mirror-perfect reflection in the windows heightened his nervousness. They were tinted darker than was legal, as demonstrated by the complete lack of light penetrating through the windows from the closest streetlamp. A light source which, now that he bothered to notice, was a little further away than he was really comfortable with… He glanced up to see that they were in a gap between streetlight coverage �� the bulb in the light that was helpfully right overhead was almost burnt out, emitting only a dim orangey-yellow light that traveled no further than top of the streetlight pole. Reigen almost laughed as his heart rate sped up, responding to a rush of adrenaline. You’ve got to be kidding me… Okay. Either you’ve been watching way too many terrible crime shows and are completely overthinking this, or these are literally the lamest bad guys ever. He heard someone coming up behind him, and whirled to face them. Mid-turn, every muscle in his body erupted into excruciating pain. Reigen hit the ground, spasming; the impact of skin and joints on asphalt barely registered amidst the full-body agony. He could barely think, his brain forming nothing coherent but for an endless string of please stop please stop stop stop hurts hurts HURTS. Was he even breathing? The pain went on, and on, and on, seconds becoming an eternity… And then it stopped as instantly as it had begun. Reigen slumped limply against the ground at the sudden relief. His brain started working again. Someone – or multiple someones – were looming over him. And he was fairly certain he’d just been tasered. Well, that’s a new one for the books. They say life should be full of new experiences. The part of his brain not occupied with witty commentary was screaming at him to shut up. You are in a terrible position, you are surrounded and you must get up, get up get up get up. He tensed his muscles, preparing to spring up fighting, but never got the chance. He felt a needle prick his neck. In seconds, everything went dark.

Hi. I’m a steve and bucky shipper that follows your blog and admires the content that you put out. While I agree that steve’s made mistakes and he should own up to them, I feel like a large chunk of the tony fandom (and not suggesting that you’re guilty of this) who are stony* shippers belittle steve and expect him to beg and grovel for tony’s forgiveness or even worse, his affections. What steve did by not telling tony the truth was wrong, yes, but aside from a sincere apology, he doesn’t really owe tony anything else. Just like you said tony doesn’t owe teamcap* anything, steve doesn’t owe tony his affections. At the end of the day, no matter how the stony* shippers feel, steve will always care more about bucky, he will always choose bucky, I’m sorry but tony will never come close.

Before anyone jumps down my throat, this doesn’t have anything to do with shipping. If you just want to take it as them being friends, then that is still the honest truth. I’m glad I follow your blog though, because aside from maybe like three other people, you seem to understand that it’s not this major issue if steve and tony don’t feel as strongly about each other as shippers seem to suggest. That it’s okay for them to not be the best of friends, that there’s no problem with them just being colleagues. Again, I’m not saying it’s tony that’s got his wires crossed, because as you’ve also said, tony will always care more about people that matter most to him like pepper and rhodey. It’s the fans that imply he and steve are really close and that he has repressed feelings for steve. You said that cap stans do this, but in reality a lot of the time it’s stony* fans.

A lot of my friends that used to be neutral toward tony, now can’t stand him because of the shippers. Because it’s the shippers who go out of their way to woobify tony and make it seem like he’s this ‘precious cinnamon roll who’s done nothing wrong in his life’ and the big bad steve needs to do all that he can to prove to tony stark that he is the centre of his universe and that he made a huge mistake in leaving behind tony for bucky. It’s the shippers that make no sense whatsoever when they put tony up on a pedestal and completely villanize steve as if steve would ever be the one to beg and grovel at tony’s feet. It’s never going to happen no matter how much they want it to. I mean does that seem right to you? They are allowed to disagree with steve, not like him even, but does it make sense that they rag on him while simultaneously ship him with tony? Is that okay?

Then there are some of them, that use bucky as a tool to either be the villain of their fantasy world or worse yet, make him be the one to fall in love with tony instead, to make steve jealous… that is seriously messed up. Just as steve would never choose tony over bucky, what makes them think that bucky would choose tony over steve? Again, this isn’t about shipping, but canon fact. You take their relationship at face value, and even peggy said to steve, that when bucky fell off the train, he risked his life because ‘he damn well thought you were worth it’. Im sorry I’m dumping my frustrations on you, but I just wanted you to know that not all stevebucky* fans are the same, we all don’t want to villanize tony stark or think he’s ‘getting in the way of our ship’, a lot of us are just fed up with the way his fandom, mainly the stony* one has treated steve overtime, and ironically expect him to have to owe tony stark anything.

I had to think about this submission for a decent amount of time because I was genuinely blown away… and honestly didn’t know how best to respond to it. I no longer venture out into the tags nor do I actively follow any aforementioned blogs, so I genuinely did not know that what you have mentioned is an occurrence that actually takes place.

If what you’re suggesting, does in fact happen, then I’m truthfully, sincerely, sorry for it all. Just as I don’t condone ste/vebu/cky shippers using tony as a prop to further their shipping narrative, I certainly don’t condone anybody from the tony fandom doing the same to either steve or bucky. God knows, I’ve encountered a small minority of them, that will hate on pepper because she gets in the way of their non-canon tony/another male character relationship - so I can empathise.

I don’t speak on behalf of the entire fandom, nor can I police what other people do, but please know that not all tony fans behave in this manner. I don’t have a single friend, nor do I follow a single blog that promotes this viewpoint. If anything, a lot of them vent out their frustrations with civil war and the handling of all characters involved by the writers, and how a lot of the times ste/vebu/cky fans will, without merit, villainse tony and use him as a means to give significance to their non-existent ship, as if tony would want anything to do with either of them outside of their working relationship.

Also, please note, that not all of us think that tony is infallible or that he hasn’t made mistakes in his life; as far as I knew, all of us owned up to the fact that he isn’t, but that it was the c/ap fandom that couldn’t accept the same of their faves, or went out of their way to make it seem like tony was irredeemable - that a character could not be liked unless they are unflawed right from the get go (which is ironic given the number of people that will defend characters such as l/oki, w/ard, m/axi/moff etc).

I agree with you when you say that there isn’t anybody nearly as important to steve as bucky is, (though how the fandom, as well as the mcu writers, handle that relationship is up for debate) just as there won’t be anybody nearly as important to tony as pep, rhodey, hap, etc. And no, I don’t think it’s okay to ship a relationship while simultaneously hating on one half of said relationship. You are allowed to be critical of their actions, but hate? What is even the point then.

I also agree that steve has no obligation to offer tony any more than a sincere apology, just as tony has no obligation to accept it; unless tony asks him for compensation for all the time, energy, money he spent on them while being misled (which he won’t) - but that is an entirely different debate to be had.

The ironic thing is that the end of the day they will probably all reconcile (may even become ‘friends’ again, much to our chagrin) because it’s likely to happen if they’re going to save the world together, and all of this discourse, had people learned to stay in their own lanes, would have been for nothing.

My mum has just crushed my only goal in live, the only thing that my therapist says I am happy about, the only reason I haven't killed misled yet. I had a brake down and cried for 1 1/2 hours straight and suddenly everything feels more pointless than ever. I wasn't even picturing myself happy if I'd reached that goal but it was the only thing I'd ever look forward to but she destroyed it. I don't have anything to stay alive for. It's gone all of it.
