My gender is 4 years old

...and four days, as of April 15th. This post is a bit late. 😅

Four years ago, all the confusing little puzzle pieces I'd been collecting came together in a genuine eureka! moment and I realized I was transgender. It was exhilarating and terrifying and it undeniably changed my life for the better.

The last few years have felt pretty damn slow and I've had to scramble over a few frustrating obstacles (never changing my name AGAIN, lmao, that was annoying as fuck) but it's all been worth it and now it feels like I'm really making headway.

I started testosterone this past year! I did that! I'm almost 7 months on T now! Currently on a dose of two pumps of gel, which I have only missed applying once in all that time because I was literally sick. The changes are gradual but they are real and they have already brought me so much joy and made me so much happier in my humble flesh prison. 💗

The most anticipated change for me (and for a lot of transmasc folks, I imagine) is my voice, and BOY (heh) am I happy to share this data comparison with you:

My voice is so different now. It sounds different, it feels different, and in just the last week or so I swear it has gotten a little rougher and raspier and I am LIVING. I could not be happier!!!

...okay, fine, I could be happier lmao.

I'm adjusting to my deeper voice and still learning how to use it in a way I like & that feels best to me, so I'm starting to do some casual at-home voice training again after basically forgetting about the concept completely since 2021. (Whoops.) But I am already so much happier and more content with my voice than I have ever been in my life, so it's only getting better from here, lads. <3

I've also had to go to a lot of appointments and answer a ton of phone calls about said appts recently because I kinda fucked up my eyeball (it's better now, don't worry! and be gentle to your eyes, they are delicate and eye drops are so fucking annoying when you're doing them seven times a day, jfc) and my voice has reached a point where I was a lot more comfortable interacting with strangers and I also didn't notice any surprise or confusion when I introduced myself with a male name! It was kind of amazing.

Also singing is even more fun now. I love love LOVE singing along with a male vocalist and feeling the way my voice kinda rumbles through my chest. 10/10 sensory experience.

Other changes aren't nearly as exciting or obvious as my voice, but here's a quick (?) rundown, for those who are curious:

Mood — Gotta be honest, I don't think I've really noticed any significant change in my day-to-day mood, though I may not be the best judge for this because I have trouble figuring out what/how I'm feeling in general, tbh. But I think I have certainly gotten more comfortable and content with myself and I'd even go so far as to say I feel a little more confident these days. It's nice, I appreciate it.

Acne — I definitely noticed a change in how my acne presents itself on my face. I wouldn't say it's worse than before (I've had very bad acne since I was a young teenager and only got medication for it like, last year which has helped immensely) but I think it's different. More little red spots and roughness than the unpleasant and painful pimples I'm used to. I don't even mind it, really. Oddly affirming.

Facial Hair — I've got facial hair. I really do!!! Not clickbait!!! It's not much, not enough for me to be brave and take my dad up on his offer of shaving lessons quite yet, but it has grown in enough that I don't feel silly including it in self portraits! 🤭🧔🏻 Got a little bit of a mustache happening, a little bit at the sides of my face, some fuzz on my chin (with one LONG hair that I can only assume has been greedy and stealing his brothers' growth), and a frankly surprising lil patch of hair under my jaw. On a semi-related note, not sure if my brows have gotten much darker/thicker. They might have? idk.

Body Hair — I have gotten a little more hair on my forearms, and it may have gotten a little darker too! I have a tattoo on my arm just below my left wrist and it's been surprisingly helpful for measuring arm hair growth because for years my tattoo was not covered by hair at all but the left side of it's a little fuzzy now... 😏 I've gotten more noticeable hair growth on my upper arms, which were basically hairless before (free gender euphoria every time I put on my T) and on my thighs. Don't think my lower legs have gotten much hairier, and I'm a little impatient about it lmao. I want to get hairy enough to rival my brother.

Energy/Appetite — Can't say I've really noticed any differences here? I am not a very active person and I already struggled with appetite and getting myself to eat before I started T (thank you adhd & poor eating habits 🥲💀), so I can't quite tell if I'm ignoring more hunger signals than usual. 😅 I am hoping to get more active and start doing more physical activity now that it's starting to get warmer outside again, so hopefully that will help me see these sorts of changes and also get me into some better eating habits as I expend more energy and work up a proper appetite! (Also, since we're on the topic... a reminder for all of us that taking care of yourself and feeding the body you live in is a million times more important than aesthetics and numbers on a scale. ❤)

Menstruation — I am still getting my period right on schedule, but I am happy to say it is considerably lighter than it was before I started testosterone! My period has begun getting shorter, too. It lasted for roughly 7–9 days before, but I was bleeding for exactly 7 days last month, and only 6 days this month. I'm not sure if this trend will continue at such a dramatic rate, but if my next round is only 5 days I will be very excited about it, lol. My uterus can retire any day now, please...

Bottom Growth — if any of my friends read this part, don't speak to me about it lmao — Yeah... there's a little bit of something happening down there. Not a lot, and I haven't really noticed any pain or sensitivity, but there's a Difference. Aaaaand I like it. 😌 I am looking forward to any and all future developments. 😏👉🏻👉🏻

Aight so, I’m a blood donation phlebotomist and whenever I see fictional blood drives in media, I have Thoughts. Here are a few quick thoughts on the blood drive in F&C’s episode “The Star”

We don’t actually see the blood drive, which actually saves my sanity a little bit. The charity ball seems to take place on one of the top floors, and let me tell ya, hauling our equipment through elevators kinda sucks — there’s a lot of it, it’s heavy, and we typically only have 45min-1hr to set up, and elevators really cut into that. Gary and Marshall had to run up/down a set of stairs to get to the elevator, too, so unless the blood drive was in an off screen office or like someone’s room (since Marshall, Gary, and Hana all change pretty quick off screen, meaning rooms gotta be close by), it’s kinda impossible to have a blood drive in this specific scenery. I’m hoping the actual blood drive was in a lobby or something, because otherwise I’d lose like seventeen years from my life just imagining the set up.

I’m kinda hoping the blood drive was in the afternoon, before the charity ball, since this seems to be taking place in the evening. It’s not fun having to drop blood off at the lab at three in the morning

The posters? Fire, love them. Collection staff (the ones who set up, break down, do the mini-physicals, and of course the phlebotomies themselves) typically aren’t sent with posters because we are not given enough time, space in the trucks, or frankly money to deal with that, but it’s not unheard of for the people in our organizations who actually set the drives up to go out themselves and add a little pizzazz. Alternatively (and more likely), Hana just commissioned a bunch of posters with blood puns for this event

Everyone is dressed up and thats lowkey stressful. They’re just asking to get blood on their nice suits and dresses

The fact that there’s a bunch of food at the charity event? Love that. Seeing that would save me from worrying about our donors (entirely too many will jump off the bed, say I’m fine, bypass the canteen area, and pass out in parking lot. Jfc just take the fucking cookie and sit for a sec dude, dropping a pint of blood is not a total non-event, c’mon). I’m guess this is a closed blood drive (meaning only people from this event can donate), and most of the people attending seem to be in the food business, so there’s a social obligation to have at least some for the sake of networking, so win-win

That said, if you’re hosting a blood drive as part of an event, this event has/is centered around food, and you don’t give the phlebotomists any, you’re a dick and there’s a good chance that if you make this a regular blood drive, it’ll be constantly understaffed because of angry call outs. We talk, y’all, and we remember

Also one this I’m horrified by? The alcohol — listen, at least one person at every blood drive makes a cheap date joke. We don’t follow you home, we can’t stop you from making the choices you mark when you’re out of our care. TBH I did this myself once, donated blood then had alcohol later, and I was alright, just super tired super quick (and I frankly have zero interest in doing this again). Everybody is different, every body is different. Some people are fine

Some people end up super sick and dizzy after like one drink because, again, dropping a pint of blood is not a non-event. Just make smart choices, y’all

Imma say having alcohol at a big important charity event right after donating blood isn’t a smart choice. Because networking and business and you’ll be quickly shitfaced at best. Is that the risk you wanna take?

That mascot tho. (Brilliant Ricardio cameo). We have a masco, I think most blood banks do, but we typically don’t haul it around with us. A big charity event though? Yeah, it makes sense that someone would bring it. I personally would rather throw it out the window than wear it myself, but it’s still fun to see

I haven’t seen anyone mention this on social media, but I want to point out the amazing timing of this episode in regards to blood donation qualifications.

In August of 2023, this year and like a month before this episode came out, the FDA finally officially lifted the MSM blood ban (earlier this year the mad cow disease ban was also lifted, too). Gotta acknowledge this: Now we we have to ask about specific sexual behaviors (anal sex with a new partner), which can result in a three month deferral. Super fun to ask conservative grandmas in churches btw. I’m queer, a lot of my coworkers are queer, you have no idea how much this means to us, let alone the population affected by this ban. I’m kinda surprised there wasn’t any nod to the MSM ban at all, though — Gary and Marshall are a MLM couple, after all, and even if they aren’t sexual active yet, it’s still something that hung over a lot of MLM individuals. I know the blood drive was a super clever nod to the whole “in another universe he’s a vampire” thing, but still, characters curse on the reg, there’s blood and gore, and there’s a focus on adult specific issues like rent and starting a business — you’d think there’d be an ambitiously worded nod to this specific MLM issue or something. It can take over a year to get an animate episode ready to air — when F&C started production, the ban was still very much a thing. Maybe the creators were aware of the ADVANCE study on removing the MSM ban that would’ve been going on at the time, and were being optimistic about how long it would take, or maybe there was a line that was cut when the ban was lifted. Or maybe the creators just wanted the Vampire->AU Blood Drive gag and hoped no one would think about it

One gossip page was going on for days about how Alexandra didn’t give Charles’ mum a kiss goodbye or something, and others were going off about Lily Muni He always posting Alex?

It’s so insane how much hate these women get for simply dating a man that freaks on the internet feel entitled to date too. The freaks literally love to hate these women more than they supposedly love and support these drivers.

I also saw another gossip page who literally messaged Magui, some random girl who was invited into the garage by Lando and then some photographers too? Like do you even like f1 at this point? Or do you all just love finding more ways to tear women down. So unbelievable

The Parasocials, as I call them, are so fucking weird. Imagine thinking you know literally anything about these people’s interpersonal relationships, and then being so filed with genuine emotion towards these people you don’t know that you actively post nasty things about these women.

It’s unhinged behaviour. Like, tell me you are not hot, happy, or healthy without telling me.

They love to hate these girls because they’re dopamine farmers. And because being positive about people makes them feel like fans, whereas overanalysing and critiquing makes them feel involved, like they’re not on the outside looking in.

And the jealousy clearly is too much for them. I was actually talking about this with my dad the other day, how people will always default to a negative way of interacting with something that they want. They’ll trash a person they think is pretty, they’ll say a restaurant sucks because they can’t afford to eat there, they’ll call a guy a red flag because he wasn’t interested in them. People just can’t handle not having access to things and it makes them mean.

The entitlement levels are just not real. Be so real with me right now do people think everything needs to be open to them? Newsflash…the boy doesn’t want you.

Steve who realizes he's grown out of everything but his sweatpants? and those are on their way out too.....

Ooh, juicy. Both the ask and Steve. 😜 I, uh, got carried away again, 1636 words apparently jfc. Lots of stuffing and belly worship and soft mutual pining below the cut, but I’d say it’s still rated T.

So Steve notices, right? Of course he does, there’s no way he couldn’t. First it was the stretch marks, then the other red lines on his belly—the one that mark his circumference like a globe, little creases radiating out where the seams of his underwear and the fly of his jeans are also pressed in tight enough to leave an impression. Some days he could just spend hours after he undresses, tracing lightly over those impressions and imagining what will happen when he can truly no longer be contained. 

It’s kind of like a hobby, one he’s picked up since Eddie left Hawkins to try and make it as a musician. 

At first it was eating his feelings—because they’d come close, they’d almost been something before a demo tape sent out to some random acquaintance of an acquaintance actually got some traction. Eddie had seemed reluctant to leave, but Steve had told him to go, hadn’t wanted to be the one to hold him back in this town that still lowkey thinks he’s a cult leader. 

Now, though, it’s more like a game; if he hears a Corroded Coffin song on the radio, he eats. Something substantial, like a sandwich or a burger or a bowl of soup. If he catches the tail end of one, that’s just a snack. He has plans for someday, when they really make it big, to graze constantly if there’s an interview on tv or in a magazine… They’re not there yet, but he has both faith and a growing appetite. 

His waistline is an ever-expanding testament to his devotion to one Edward Wayne Munson, who still writes him letters regularly. They land in his mailbox haphazardly, sometimes not even in order, but the postmarks and the date-of-writing that Eddie always scribbles in a corner of the pages are consistently once every week. Steve can’t really write back because Eddie moves around too much, but the letters include numbers and date ranges for where he can reach him, so he calls whenever he can. And wonders if Eddie hears the snack wrappers crinkling in the background. 

And now, it’s really all caught up to him. He’s got one pair of sweatpants that fit, and really needs to go shopping to fix that problem (not to mention getting some bigger shirts, too). But first, he needs to do laundry, because he’s kind of been laying around in said sweatpants since he last got home from work, and they’re a little bit covered in drops and crumbs and… other stains. (He likes his food, and he really likes feeling full these days, okay? He’s made his peace with that.)

Eddie never expected to feel homesick for Hawkins, of all fucking places, but in the end he’s not sure that’s even it. He doesn’t want the town, he wants Steve. Still regrets leaving him, even though he knows that if he and the guys hadn’t taken this chance there would have been resentments and what ifs lingering in the air. As it is, Jeff, Gareth, and Grant are tolerant but probably sick of his constant pining and the love song lyrics he keeps pitching. 

He has noticed the sounds of snack wrappers over the phone. He’s also noticed how often it sounds like Steve is talking with his mouth full or partly full, and. After all they’d gone through together with Vecna and all the Upside Down shit, both of them almost dying more than once before it was all said and done, it’s nice to hear Steve getting to be normal. Steve always sounds so happy whenever he can catch him on the line instead of leaving a message, too, which warms his heart, and on the occasions Eddie calls him back and Steve is home to pick up, the guy always sounds like it’s Christmas morning come early. That either of them (anyone in the Party, really) can be so relaxed after the whole mess is goddamn miraculous. And, privately, he does think Steve would look good with more meat on his bones. Handsome and stocky and strong and, mmm…

Eddie is just a lovesick gay man in the prime of his life, he can’t help that sometimes that line of thinking leads all the way from naughty thoughts all the way to touching himself with Steve’s name heavy on his tongue. 

So, yeah, the second the band gets a long enough break, Eddie is on a flight back to Indiana. He wants it to be a surprise, so he takes a cab all the way from Indy to Loch Nora, tipping the driver handsomely because he has money now. That he’s earned, and by doing something he loves too, how wild is that?

Almost as wild as when he lets himself into the house and feed his knees go weak at finding Steve beached on the living room couch, a mix tape of Corroded Coffin songs clearly recorded from the radio playing on the stereo and a large pizza box open on the cushion next to him, the pizza three quarters finished. There’s sauce and grease smeared around Steve’s mouth and it looks like he’s racing the tape to try and finish first, his belly so heavy and packed on his lap and—

He’s not wearing pants, and with his stomach rounded out and dropped between his spread thighs Eddie can’t even tell if he’s wearing underwear from his vantage point. The polo he’s got is straining to contain him, popped threads trailing loose down from the hem where it rests above his deepened belly button and vivid stretch marks. 

The sight punches a gasp out of Eddie, and Steve looks up with the next slice halfway to his mouth. 

“Eddie?” There’s amazement in Steve’s voice, and excitement too, but just enough self-consciousness and trepidation that Eddie is across the room in a second, Steve filling his vision more like approaching a celestial body—eclipsing everything else. (Steve is wearing underwear, but why is it even hotter that Eddie had to get closer just to tell?) And then Eddie is leaning over him, hoping with his heart in his throat that this isn’t too much, and gently nudging Steve’s pizza laden hand to finish its journey. 

“Don’t stop on my account, sweetheart,” he murmurs, and Steve moans into his next bite, a sound that shoots straight from Eddie’s ears to between his legs. 

Steve must have been eating ever since he’d left town to look like this, and there’s something so… It’s like he’d left a hole that Steve has been trying to fill, and Eddie wants nothing more than to be here for him now. 

Later, once the tape has ended and they’ve both been sated (Steve in more ways than one, practically gasping for breath from the exertion and the bloat of his swollen gut) they talk about how much they’ve missed each other. How much they’d both regretted not becoming an us before Eddie left, despite the way they’ve still managed to keep in touch more than some official couples do over long distances. Unwilling to make that mistake again, Eddie gets dramatically on one knee before Steve and hefts the curve of his lower belly in both hands in supplication, kissing the crest of his stomach in between his words as he asks Steve to be his boyfriend. 

“Even though I’ve eaten myself out of all my jeans?” Steve asks breathlessly, his cheeks warm but a hand tangled in Eddie’s curls, fingers flexing gently with every kiss to his stretched-taut skin. “I kind of… The only thing that fits me are my sweatpants, and those are in the dryer. I was just waiting for the load to finish, and I got—”

“Hungry?” Eddie guesses with a grin. 

“A snack,” Steve finishes sheepishly, and isn’t that something. “I need to go shopping before work tomorrow, and I figured, if I’m already full, they’ll fit better. And, uh.. For longer.”

Eddie chuckles. “Well, if I’m your boyfriend I could come, you know. Help you pick things out, make sure they look—” he gives Steve’s stuffed belly a gentle wobble “—as fucking hot on you as you deserve.”

Steve is already nodding before he even finishes speaking, eyes gone a little dazed from his belly being manhandled in a way he’s never felt before—because, before, he’d always stuffed himself alone. “Yeah. Yes, I—uuurp—want you to. Wanted you this whole time, Eds, you have no idea.”

They seal it with a kiss, and Eddie fetches the now dry sweatpants and helps pull them up over his boyfriend’s hard-soft belly and infinitely grabable ass, noting how even this pair is straining to contain as much man as the two of them have managed to wiggle and squish in there. Eddie has to drive the BMW because Steve is starting to feel sleepy from his “snack”… and, even though Eddie has to crank the driver’s seat all the way up from freakin’ Mexico, he’s not totally sure Steve would’ve fit behind the wheel anyway. 

He already has plans to try and talk Steve out of Hawkins. The kids are graduating soon anyway, they can wait until after the ceremony, and Robin is already off in college, she’ll follow Steve anywhere the second she has her degree. Eddie has money now, between the government payout after the Spring Break from hell and his new career that’s stretching out before him like a dream, he can support Steve and his new appetite, easy.  

Because the only thing that could make Eddie’s life more perfect is beside him in the passenger seat, half snoozing and half massaging his belly (Eddie helps, during red lights and straightaways) to quell the gurgles from digesting an entire greasy pizza, in sweatpants that are unquestionably on their way out.

Like... i’d love to see the same recurring cast members as the defence attorneys/judges/etc as the same characters in all three shows. Or like, have them mention each other, like in this ep they easily could have at least been like “hold on, I'll call benson, maybe she caught the case” no need to guest star, just mention it. Though they could guest star the other characters considering svu is only giving screen time to M and Ice...

the way i want the gd same! the aftercare scenes were some of my absolute favorites to write, and i even saved them for last so that i could finally breathe after working on the rest lol. they're as much of a relief for me as the writer as they are for y'all and the characters. i'm so proud of reader for the car thing! bc we've seen them finally say something in basketball, but i think this was even better.

Chapter 36 - thoughts.

Hello everyone!

Back at it again with chapter 36’s notes! Of course, if you want to avoid spoilers I recommend reading the chapter (found right over here) first. Also, I skipped chapter 35’s notes because I didn’t think there was much to say… or if there was, it would be too short for me to make a post. However, if there’s something you’d like for me to expand on that chapter I’ll gladly oblige! My ask box is always open ❤️

As always, major spoilers underneath the cut, as well as no proofreading, or very minimal. All candid you know lol.

Now, without further ado, here are the notes!

This chapter was meant to clarify or deepen the motivations behind some of the characters :> uncover the continuous mystery surrounding Minako’s and Tomoko’s absence, their relationship with their family, and one thing I’ve been wanting to explore about jujutsu (which I’m not done with hehe) however, I did face some difficulties, mainly because of the timeline and if the stories were tragic enough HAHAHA.

But anyways, let’s start with the hardships.

The timeline, a.k.a how old were Y/N and Naoya when their respective mothers died. Now, I don’t like setting down dates because I feel like once you take that commitment, there’s no going back 😂. And there’s too many things I want to explore to reduce them into dates, so I tend to leave them open-ended.

However, with Y/N I did have some guidelines. It was important for me to keep Minako’s death occurring after ’98, and all because I said she was very supporting of Ren when Ginger Spice left the Spice Girls 😭 not them influencing my fic once again 😂 that, and because I didn't envision her being present in the high school era of their kids.

Taking all of this into consideration, her death would've to occur inbetween 99-01. The latest would make Y/N roughly 10 years old, Hinata 12, Ren 14. Very young to lose a mother, indeed.

As for Naoya, I just needed him to be old enough to remember Tomoko, but not that old for Mariya and the gang to remember her. Out of the two, she would have to be the most mysterious one, considering nobody wants to talk about, (I wouldn't be surprised if the members of the estate didn't know when she was last seen) one could even say she’s more of a legend at this point, impossible to prove or disprove.

I think the one that knows/remembers most of her had to be Junko, considering how she was trained to be Ogi’s wife or whatever bullshit by her. Naobito can’t be bothered to remember his own wife, not even after the 6 kids she gave him, although he is the kind of person to compare “his ex” with his partners, saying how she was prettier or some other bs, or even look for said partners who kind of resemble her. At least her memories live on with him like that jfc what am I even saying.

Anywayssssss

I think that out of the two, Tomoko’s story was the most tragic. In the way that she was essentially doomed from the very moment Naobito set eyes on her. I don’t think she ever imagined the things she would have to go through. Maybe the kid part she had an idea, but the rest? Nah, no amount of indoctrination could ever prepare her for that.

The more depth I give her, the more realize how truly alone she is, like it physically pained me to have to write how Tomoko could only trust her children (and not even all of them); she probably couldn’t even rely on Junko for anything. Now that it’s been brought up, Tomoko probably asked Junko’s favorite flowers to be planted as a way to show sorority, reach out to her, but it flew past her. I don’t doubt she desperately tried to reach out to her family too, only to be told to “suck it up” and that this is the best thing to happen in their life, so she better not ruin it.

Once again, the Zen’in dynamic is heavily inspired by the Todoroki fam lol Tomoko must be Rei around the time she burnt Shoto. I’m glad to say that it didn’t go to those extremes but had Naoya not said anything… who knows what might’ve happened. Even as disgusting as he’d become, I’m glad his child-self didn’t get attacked like that.

Another point I wanted to explore about her was her dynamic with the rest of her kids. If I had to put like a list of her most to least liked kids, Naoaki would be the first, from there Naofumi, Naohiko, Naosuke, Naohito, and finally, Naoya.

Naoaki is mainly because he was her first child, back then when she was still… “ok”, and even with the environment she had to raise him, she still cared for him and was very involved in his upbringing, as much as she could anyways.

Because he was the oldest one, the most “mature one” thanks to his crude childhood, Tomoko felt she could confide in him, but that relationship didn’t flourish until he was replaced by Naoya.

I swear, Tomoko must’ve been the kind of mother that unintentionally pitted her children against each other and spoke badly of their father to them by saying things (mainly to Naoaki) like “I don’t know what your father is thinking about, you’re clearly much better than Naoya” and “You were never as impolite as him” and so on and so forth. She might’ve also been blunt about how Naobito doesn’t seem to like them, but that “didn't matter” because she does. (OK Tomoko, not sure they wanted to hear the first part but aight)

She tried being a good mother, she really did. But her environment, alongside the critical pregnancies she had finally took a toll on her mental health, and it led her to take it out on Naoya—I believe the best way to describe what she was feeling was postpartum depression, but considering how grave it was and the problems she had with her previous pregnancies, it was more likely postpartum psychosis.

The Zen’in strike me as the kind of family that doesn’t believe in mental health—less if it comes from women, I shouldn’t be surprised they thought Tomoko as simply “emotional” instead of having an actual condition that needed treatment. Oh no, the Zen’in shooting themselves on the foot once again? Who could've seen this coming?!

Naoya unfortunately became the outlet of Tomoko’s suffering, which started as soon as she gave birth to him and held him—she looked at that poor baby and something inside her snapped. Something like “you’re the child these bastards were looking for, you’re the reason why I had to suffer so much.”

Also, I don’t know if anyone remembers one post a long time ago, where I said I was watching the movie Hereditary and was like “Huh, inspiring.”

I meant this scene. Except that Tomoko (or at least that’s what I understood from the mom’s “disdain” for the kid—of course, that was just one issue of the many they had lol) didn’t feel sorry for Naoya and the life he was going to be put through, but rather all that she had to endure to conceive him. Can’t blame her, it was tough… I just wished none of them had to become her victims too.

That, and essentially Azula from Avatar, that one scene where she’s like “my own mother thought I was a monster” goddamn if that isn’t painful—it made you feel bad for her, even with her craziness, she just wanted a mother 😭 unnghhhh not me trying to redeem Naoya!!!! (more like make him… human)

Her absence was definitely the major point as to why Naoya turned out to be the way he did. With her gone, the last “happy” (let’s put it that way) thing inside the Zen’in was completely eradicated. Even if Naoya didn’t get to interact much with her, just by seeing her by afar he probably would’ve been like, wait…. What is… that—get a reference on how not to be an absolute, indisputable piece of shit.

He would’ve still turned to be a jackass, but maybe not that bad? Idk, people can have two parents and still turn batshit crazy.

Now, this also served to justify his womanizing ways lol. I don’t know why the fandom decided that was to be one of his traits (which I don’t mind I guess), considering he’s insufferable, but after watching one of my favorite youtuber’s expand on someone who behaved a similar way, I was like DAMN is that Naoya.

People tend to seek attention through various ways, and for Naoya that would be in countless women. It’s peak mommy issues, I know, but in his defense… don’t we all have parent issues 😭? Anyways, Naoya tried to search for that one person that would cherish/love him unconditionally, someone that made him truly special, saw for who he was and not for what he had… (can you believe I based that “you’re my favorite child because you’re the most talented one” line FROM A GODDAM DOUJINSHI? I won’t go into details, but it’s a certain obnoxious, irritating heir from a prestigious clan and his renegade cousin HAHAHAHAHH)

I mean, I get it, but what was Naoya expecting to find by flaunting his wealth in order to meet people? Not to say that everyone is like that but come on lol. And he wasn’t even selective about them either? He would just go with the one he considered attractive/convincing enough and hoped for the best, I guess? He became pickier further down the road (aw, Naoya eventually learned to be choosy lol) stopping only, of course, when he eventually met his beloved Y/N :> Just another tease for their first meeting (I feel like I’m hyping this too much, I hope it ain’t disappointing when it finally appears on the story)

Well, even if he cares for Y/N, he still takes a lot from Naobito. He’s lucky Y/N is essentially trapped with him because she would’ve left the moment she could—she’s not like Tomoko, she still has someone to support her so… the clock is ticking Naoya.

Now onto the other BS family, the L/N.

This is the part I liked the most, because it’s more inclined to the whole “expanding how jujutsu can be used” kind of thing.

I already knew that Minako was going to… die like that and was looking forward to expanding on it when it finally came to it. (I just know that Ren, Hinata, and Y/N would hate this one vine with a burning passion—Gojo is the one to show it to them and they will beat his ass) doubling down when the whole culling games arc thingy happened on the manga, I was like DAMN so that’s what Kenjaku was doing? What was going to happen with Tsumiki? oohoHOHOHO, although I don’t think both things could relate considering the timeline and the requirements to mark them… or who knows? I don’t remember if it was specified when Kenjaku started marking people, or if Tsumiki and the rest of the victims were the first ones. (there’s allot of things that don’t make sense to me 😭 and I haven’t kept up with the manga tbh)

Well, it didn’t stop me from going on with my plan, and thus I began to torture Y/N and her family.

The reason why Minako got cursed… was easy: because some sorcerers were jealous/desperate to get to her. After seeing how strong her kids were, they thought “well maybe we can kidnap her and use her” but after that proved to be a failure, they decided “if we can’t have her, no one can.”

It’s really sick to know that, but with a crazy-ass community as the one the jujutsu world has… I really couldn’t think of anything else. I mean, the Kamo’s…

Anyways, I always wondered what it meant to be haunted in this universe. Once again, I don’t remember if it was ever mentioned/shown (outside of haunting places) so I had to exploit that to my advantage.

I know curses are seen by sorcerers, but I like to think that those powerful enough, maybe having a set goal/victim/target manage to become invisible to everyone but them—either by sheer determination or something lol. No, but really, that must depend on the level/power/talent of the sorcerer that begins the haunting as well as the curse, and if they’re really powerful they might be able to zero-in on their victim completely untraceable, God help if the person isn’t a sorcerer. Like, no one will be able to feel a curse is nearby.

Because it takes great skill (to pass undetected), only a handful can perform the ritual it takes to haunt someone, making it a dangerous practice. I’d like to believe it was eventually forbidden at one point, thus destroying all records showing how to do so.

And because I want to, there are levels of haunts too hehehe, here are the ones I can think of right now:

Those to harass. Self-explanatory, they’re just there to bother, and depending on the intention, they might hurt too.

Those to influence. Do someone else’s bidding, an additional voice for your conscience. The victim might think it’s them thinking such thoughts and enact them on their own within time. They’re fully conscious of what’s happening, might question if they truly want to do that, but they go through with it anyways.

Those to control. Take full control of their body and conscience. It’s the harsher one of the three to do (as well as difficult to trace), because its success greatly depends on the will of the victim. If the victim is strong-willed the haunt might take some time to work, if at all, and depending on the curse, it might find ways to debilitate them to ease their entrance. Once controlled, the victim will not remember anything that happened until after, rarely are they conscious during the act.

Minako was affected by the last one—however, it didn’t go as successfully as the perpetrator wanted because I like to imagine that since the OG rituals were wiped out, the only thing that managed to survive (if anything) were pieces here and there of information, leaving the rest to the imagination haha.

It’s why Minako was still able to fight it off a bit, and remember some things. But yeah, someone was intending to take control of her—and she was fighting that person (as shown by those allegedly senseless conversations) to stay away from her, but in the end she succumbed.

Omg I just thought… what if Minako, upon noticing the curse user’s intentions, decided to sabotage her body??????????????? Stop eating so they wouldn’t control her? Omg………………………………………………………………………………………………

But of course, the notes are here to give closure on some things, so… even with Minakos’ strong will, the curse managed to inflict enough damage on her, the result of those actions being the marks on across her body, setting her up to be controlled.

I gotta say, even though the L/N are absolute, always-wrong, pieces of poop, they did the right thing by “killing” Minako during this stage, because the next thing would’ve been the curse controlling her.

The rumor of them being the ones responsible of her death is nasty. But not so crazy, considering the elders really did not like Minako for something that wasn’t even her responsibility, but try convincing these “old-style” bastards out of it…

Writing this made me think of a question idk if anyone wondered lol considering these rituals were “banned” it would make sense someone would try to report them to HQ right? or if it’s something new, never-seen before… right?

Well, Eiichi tried, but without solid evidence, it could easily just be a rumor—and a waste of time/money to pursue. He was very angry with that, believe me, and scolded the elders for wasting an opportunity to prevent another family from suffering the same.

However, if they had been responsible of that… they obviously wouldn’t rat out the person that helped them.

Omg…. What if in the au where Toji takes Naoaki’s role or so, he was taking jobs on the side, shady ones, and he was actually involved in Minako’s death (to not say he was the one responsible)?????????????????????????????????????????????????? that might be the point where she starts to look at Naoya under a different light lol.

But yeah, going back to the actual story, gee, what an entanglement, truly. F the jujutsu community.

The following point is the deepening of the relationship of the main branch, a.k.a Eiichi, Minako, and all them kids.

I always envisioned all of the kids being super close to Minako, and not because they disliked Eiichi (he was a good dad—just… awkward lol. Uncool, and just how Posh Spice would say... yeah, poor Eiichi 😂. He’s definitely an avid practitioner of dad-jokes) but because his duties often kept them apart; he tried his best to be present, but it’s hard sometimes.

They all loved them kids tho, but because of particular reasons I will disclose later, that being now, Y/N was the favorite one. After Hinata and Ren filled the L/N clan’s expectations, it essentially allowed Y/N to have allot of free time with her parents, so they were able to dote on her more frequently.

It just made me wonder how much Y/N had to train in order to keep up with them (specially Hinata) since she wasn’t a priority when it came to her jujutsu education—I’m sure they all did what they could so she wouldn’t be left behind, but more likely than not she did lots of self-learning.

I really liked the opportunity this chapter gave me to deepen Ren’s, Hinata’s, and Eiichi’s motivations. I swear to God their subconscious took Y/N’s abducting as “yet again, another sorcerer (clan) trying to hurt our family”

Of course this was enough for them to snap, but they all reacted differently.

Because Eiichi felt completely alone without Minako, it was easier for him to be manipulated by the Zen’in (allegedly AHAHAH) and because they were so aggressive about it, he genuinely thought Y/N would be much better with them than him continuing to resist, so there’s that—but if it’s worth anything, he’s deeply regretful for having succumbed and there’s not a day where he doesn’t believe Minako is cursing him from heaven. Of course, those thoughts come more to him while he’s drunk, another consequence of having lost her. He was an occasional drinker, mostly social, but his grief certainly took him to that point.

Ren was probably the most aware one when his mom got sick, and thus, the one that probably felt the most responsible. Going on and on about how he was supposed to be a sorcerer, just a few years away from entering jujutsu high, and yet didn’t figure out his mother was being haunted/cursed. The guilt inside him was so big, he had to get out of the house as quickly as possible—one of the many reasons why he decided to study in Kyoto at first, only coming back later when he grew disappointed by the environment there (which just made him remember of the elders of his clan he hates so much) and missed his family, so he eventually returned. It was kind of a “well, if I’m going to be angry all the time, I’d rather be angry with my family around.”

Hinata also felt very, very guilty for what happened to Minako, mainly because of her cursed technique. She went through a phase of constantly demeaning herself, calling herself “inept” or “stupid” because her technique is supposed to protect the user/target from those kinds of attacks—this led her to become far more… involved/creative with her technique, trying to exploit her limits as much as she could to prevent something like this ever escaping her attention.

Y/N felt the most isolated, because she heavily relied on being with someone, (thanks to the elders being nasty with her ugh) you know? Someone to support her. The rest tend to deal with their own things by themselves, and while they still supported each other, it wasn’t the same. I guess that’s the reason why she was so excited to attend jujutsu high, only to be left virtually alone when the whole crisis thing happened and no new students were enrolling, worsening when Naoya decided to further isolate her from the rest of the world when marrying her. Her getting heavily attached to Naoaki, Mariya and the gang, Mai and Maki, shouldn’t be a surprise at this point. Specially Naoaki nnnhhhhggghhhhhh.

I know there were different expectations for this chapter, mainly because we’ve been desperately hoping for the moment Naoya and Y/N will finally talk lol. And I gotta say I might’ve disappointed some by how she essentially ran away… but I promise it will be worth it in the end lol Y/N running out on him like that is good I believe, cause she’s shocked that Naoya is actually capable of feeling anything else, but you know, pure evil.

These two chapters were mostly intended to show the human side of Naoya, Y/N’s reaction to it and just how similar their backgrounds were when it came to their mother's.... but with outcomes so different.

To give him emotions (and show how he handles them—terribly. I mean, he got sick!! HAHAH it’s like that one episode in atla where Zuko is good for the first time in his life and gets sick) and maybe deepen their relationship. It helps that Y/N is very empathetic to those around her… but it’ll be up to her and how he decides to act during this time if something happens between the two.

I gotta say, if I play my cards right, I think we’re like 3 chapters away from that one chapter I’VE BEEN WAITING TO WRITE FOR FOREVER I SWEAR ALL THIS SLOW BURN WILL BE WORTH IT. :> But until then…

How did you come up with everyone’s names? I see a lot of them are Japanese in origin?

That’s a very interesting question actually!!

So, specifically the Okutama crew are from Japan. I’ve been doing a plotline with them so that’s why most of the names on the blog are Japanese atm. Lol.

My characters names come from, all sorts of places. But I’ll just talk about Okutama specifically because it’s very interesting to me.

Most of My Okutama characters Date back to around.. 2015? 2016? Somewhere around there? They originally were fan characters for a VERY problematic game which I shall not mention. In fact, I use to run the most popular role playing group FOR that game on deviantart. It was a very weird time.

(Also warning, I am learning Japanese- but like.. I’m essentially a -1 year old while speaking in Japanese. So bare with me-)

Are Yoru- Are was the first character I ever made for this fandom, She originally was a self insert because the game allowed you to customize your MC and I essentially made a weird murdery version of me. Their original name was: アレクシス (Arekushisu) よる (Yoru), Which was essentially a very badly google translated version of my dead name, and the word Night (because she was edgy you see), Her name is now just Are because 99.9% of the time back then we called them アレ-ちゃん (Are-Chan). (And also the connection to my dead name made me feel weird lol and the connection to ME made me feel weird as well). Are is probably the most incomprehensible name in actual Japanese.. cause アレ is not, a name. But she has been called Are for so long I can’t imagine calling them anything else.

Yukai Mori (Yukai Hayashi)- Yukai was the second character I made, I’m like 99% sure. She was the first OC I posted to the roleplay group. She hasn’t changed much over the years, besides just, generally making her more realistic. I don’t remember the exact origin of ユカイ 林 (Yukai Hayashi). I remember wanting to give her a very unassuming name, so knowing like 11 year old me I might have just been like “Popular Japanese Names 2016” or whatever. Her new last name 森 (Mori) however comes from the word Forest. Hayashi means Woods. You can tell cause both kanji look like groups of trees 林森 . It was a subtle way to make her distance herself from her family while also still being connected to it. Her nickname is Kai-Chan! Or カイ-ちゃん

Chie Hayashi (チエ 林)- Chie’s origin is Actually really cute! She’s named after my Moms college roommate. I made her because Yukai originally had like- 12 sisters or something? But that’s shrunk down to 2- because jfc.

Kyandi Amai- Kyandi is very easy to.. figure out. she’s a person made of candy.. so.. キャンぢ 甘い (Kyandi Amai), She canonically named herself, cause I don’t think her mom would.. just name her candy baby.. candy.. She’s named after the borrowed English word for Candy, vs the word Ame (あめ), Amai however does mean sweet.

Ai Amai- Kyandis Mom, She’s a witch who accidentally turned a piece of candy alive. 愛 甘い (Ai Amai) her name is ALSO a pun. Ai means love, therefore her name would essentially be Love Sweets or I love Sweets.

Hana Seta (花 瀬田)- HANA! my beloved! She was the first one in my second generation of Okutama OCs. Where I shifted from roleplay groups to solely roleplaying with my friend Morgan. Hana was originally created as a mascot for Instagram, but solely shifted into a wackier character. I don’t remember Hana’s name meaning anything in particular. Her name means Flower and her last name means essentially rice farmer.

Kagayaki Tekikya (輝き滴下)- Originally based on J.D from Heathers.. which.. is an incredibly funny fact when you look at the character now. His last name is based on Tekiya which are the predecessors to the Yakuza. Over the years the extra K was added in and, I just cant spell it any other way. I don’t think that Kagayaki itself tho had a specific origin for me, though it does mean shiny. His nickname is Kaga-Kun or かが-くん, He can also go by 빛나는 테키키아 , Which is what his mother use to call him in her native language (Korean), he doesn’t often go by this though.

Keh Spo (ケースポ): So in Japan, normally before you get to know someone you would say their last name first, like for example Doe John instead of John Doe. So Keh’s name is Spo Keh… cause.. he’s spooky… and a ghost hunter.. thats it thats all there is too it.

Makai Mori (魔界 森): The last of the Hayashi Sisters. Makai essentially means hell or evil. Her name was not given to her by the Hayashi family, it was more of a nickname given to her before she got adopted. Makai’s demon name or True name is Beelzebub, She was named after the real Beelzebub due to her being a glutton demon and also due to her carnivorous nature attracting flies. Demons have two names, due to havinf a demons true name means having power over that demon. She also has a tendency to be called a Hellion but in a very literal sense.

Evey Aiki (イービー あいき): Aiki is a word for love. Which relates to Evey’s um… obsessive tendencies.. However I believe I chose the name Evey just because it sounded pretty. Its not a Japanese name but it is a Latin one apparently! And it means life! Which is… ironic… considering its um.. Evey..

Uru Nanamo (ウルナナモ): I do not fully remember why I named Uru this, and the translation of his name doesn’t give me much clues. However her name means to possess and budding flowers. Due to him being adopted allot, she has a few other last names as well. 朝原 (Asahara which means Field) (たなか, Tanaka, which… also means field..). He is also called Onee-Uru or Big Sister Uru. As a term of endearment by Atsu.

Atsu Kaigan (アツ 海岸): I also do not fully remember where Atsu’s name comes from exactly. BUT: It means Twin Coast!

Yuki Sho (雪翔): I wanted Yuki and Mizuki’s names to rhyme some what because they’re twins. Yuki means snow, and Sho means Royal essentially? I chose Sho because it comes from the Ryukyuan kingdoms Royal family.

Mizuki Sho (ミズキ翔): Mizuki’s name is based on a flowering tree! So he is based on spring vs Yuki who is based on Winter.. They both have a yin yang sort of thing about them. Mizuki is normally a feminine name but it is sometimes used as a male name.

TW: Because some of my characters are from the past, there are some darker themes in the story. Nothing below here goes into detail however i will explain the basic description of certain things.

Specific TWs: Child Abuse, Prositution, Historical Sexism, Just Yknow general stuff you’d find in the 1400s unfortunately.

Some Titles my Characters Have:

Yukai: Former Wakagashira of The Hayashis. Essentially what that means is that Yukai use to be the second highest ranking in her family and would handle allot of the different jobs and what not and organize things. (Side note, The Hayashis would be essentially a small town mafia. So- yknow. They would have different rules than your most popular Yakuza organization.. so just suspend your disbelief a little that there’s,, high ranking women in this mafia... cause thats not accurate irl—-)

Are: HOLY SHIT SHE HAS SO MANY TITLES. Okay. So. In order of which she got them.

Kamuro (A child courtesan who was being trained by an Oiran (a high ranking prostitute) They would be in charge of running errands and getting food for their Big Sister/Oiran)

Oiran (A high ranking Prositute, who was trained to do performance art, like tea ceremonies, dancing, music, etc.)

Maiko (A young girl who is training to be a Geisha.)

Geisha (A Entertainer which specializes in the performing arts, Mostly singing and dancing)

Maid (Low Ranking Servant, mostly does chores and cooking)

Otoshiyori (Personal Servant/Assistant to the Emperor and his Wife, the Empress)

Sokushitsu (Concubine)

Kikoe-Ogimi (Grand Royal Priestess)

Myobu (High Ranking Kitsune)

Chie: Current Oyabun of the Hayashi’s, Basically the leader of the Hayashi Family mafia due to her parents dying.

Hana: Hime Hana, Princess Consort of Hell. because she’s currently the wife of Lucy Ferr, one of the princesses of hell, she has a Royal title specifically only in hell. (It’s a Long Story). There are more common terms for princess than Hime, but due to Hana’s kinda old fashioned style she would probably use Hime. She also does not have the title “Her Imperial Highness” due to her not being in a ruling position in Japan.

Kagayaki:

Former Wakagashira of The Tekikya Family.

Maiko (Geisha and Maiko is traditionally a only female practice, however, considering theres literally portals to hell in town, most people don’t care in this universe-)

Jenn-Chan, Onee-Jenn (Full Name: Jenn-Da-Benn, or Big Sister Jenn. This is Kagayaki’s drag queen persona, Her style is mixing together modern j-fashion and traditional clothing such as Kimonos and what not. Known for accidentally shattering a window with one of her heels)

Keh:

Itako (A Blind spirit medium)

Miko (A Shrine Maiden in Shintoism)

(Both of these terms tend to be female only, but gender is fucky in this universe so-)

Yokai (This is a self proclaimed title, He also sometimes calls themself a protector of Yokai)

Ai:

Grand Witch of Okutama (Shes a very powerful witch lol)

The Original Onna Musha (Onna Musha is a term to refer to Female warriors normally alongside Samurai, due to Ai being old as dirt and also being a very powerful Warrior she is often called this)

Makai: Former Shateigashira of the Hayashis

Uru: Kami no Okurimono (Gift of Gods, A title given to him from his first family. Who was yknow.. a cult..)

Atsu: Hogo-Sha no Kami (Protector of Gods)

Chapter 1

"Sophia's claim to her true blood status comes from the Sorensen line, the one that everyone believes is the ancestor of Sigurd. But this book is saying that the true spelling is Sorenson, not Sorensen." Hunter pointed to the letters to show me the difference. 

Avery slurped noisily at the last of his coffee, only glancing uneasily at Hunter's hand over mine. "That means she's a fake. She must've found a way to change the official records somehow. Everyone believes it, even the Queen."

You’re telling me that all of this comes down to a fucking clerical error? JFC how goddamned stupid can all of this possibly get?

"I think we have some very important work in Mongolia. Shoveling dragon manure, for instance."

Since they’re all dragons, wouldn’t that be the equivalent of shovelling human poop?

I twirled my hair around my finger and considered the risk of calling Shayne. I had no doubt that Garrett was watching my parents [sic] and my account.

Here’s a hint: stop hiding behind the dragons and their problem, go home, and fucking deal with Garrett. 

"Where William and Emma were. About their family, that they had dragon babies. The document was dated right before she formed our team. She made it seem like we were going to save the world. We were going to have babies and grow the race. All along she knew that wolves could save the dragons. But they hate the wolves, so they buried the information." 

Imagine going extinct because you hated some other race more than you wanted your own race to continue. 

JFC, I say let these assholes go extinct. The phrase “too stupid to be alive” comes to mind. 

Smirking, I shook my head. "You wish." I caught his smile just before I shut the door.

Chapter 1 summary: We open on one of the boys (I have given up giving a shit about which one is which) finding something important in a file. Then the rest of the boys come into Andre’s office and get angry that the first one had sex with Liz. They start to fight, and then Liz gets angry at them and starts throwing office supplies at their heads for them to stop. 

They then go to a nearby cafe, where the one guy explains that he finally has dirt on Sophia. This entire time, her power has come because people believe that she’s from an important dragon family. But as it turns out, she’s somehow changed the records… Granted, it’s literally a one-letter change, but still. 

Sophia and Andre come in. Sophia is still angry that the one she was supposed to get married to called her out while they were literally at the altar. In front of everybody. Liz then stands up and pulls her own alpha power. Andre promises to talk to the queen about an official alpha challenge between the two of them. 

Hunter takes Liz back to his apartment, and gives her a credit card that Riley had arranged for her. The two of them then bang. When they’re finished, he tells her that he used to work as basically a bounty hunter. But one of them decided to murder Hunter’s parents as payback for… Failing to capture him the first time, I guess? 

He also says that he found evidence that Sophia 100% knew about the dragon shacking up with the wolf and having a bunch of babies. That she knew how to save the dragons, but decided to let her hate (and her desire to fuck the male leads) drive her actions instead. 

Later, some dude named James shows up. He makes no effort to hide how sexually attracted to Liz he is, and the entire thing is beyond icky. He tells Liz that the queen wants to have a word with her. Liz is like “Thanks, bye!” before she basically slams the door in his face.
