My name’s Witalis, but most people I know call me Hades. I’m 17 years old, I’ve been out as a trans-masc nonbinary for the past 3 years, I use he/it pronouns and I just started a fundraiser for my top surgery!!

In the September of this year I’ll be starting my second year of high school. I’m an activist but I had to take a break form it because of my depressive states. In my day-to-day life I mostly spend my time on drawing and writing. When I was younger I was very physically active – I loved playing basketball, horse riding and cycling. I miss those times terribly.

Since I even started thinking that I might be trans I was sure of one thing – I hate my chest, it makes me uncomfortable and it makes my life harder. My dysphoria makes functioning borderline impossible. I have a hard time just existing in my own body because the sight of my chest makes it unbearable. Even though I am an extrovert I can’t leave my house, as often as I’d like, because the thought of having to put on a binder and then having to deal with how hard it is to breathe in it, is overwhelming. I loved being active and moving my body, and I miss times when I could do those things freely. Now I can’t do it because it’s unsafe to exercise in a binder, while without it I can’t stand the feeling of my own body.

I don’t want to live like that. I’m already disabled, and mentally ill – I don’t want to suffer even more when I know it can get better.

I need 12000PLN (around 2980USD, 2330 pounds or 2700 euro) for the operation itself – the rest will go towards my rehabilitation, meds and therapy. Every donation and share means the world <3

I'm like 99% sure I'm a demiboy/nonbinary guy. I like the idea of being perceived as male, but I feel like there's another part to my gender and I don't know what it is. (I know I don't have to label it, but I want to and it's going to bother me unless I figure it out). I had initially thought it was female but I'm realizing I don't like being perceived as female so I don't think that's it. How do I figure out what it is?

This sounds like 2017 me, just discovering that I'm a demiguy and trying to figure out if there's another part to my gender. For me, I knew it wasn't female or genderless. I took apart my gender and tried to analyze all the pieces, trying to find something that might fit what I was experiencing. I realized that part was neutral.

Not too long after that, I learned that I'm actually bigender. Seeing my gender as distinct parts that make up a whole is definitely a bigender experience. I still see myself as a demiguy as well as bigender. You can be both. You can also be something else entirely.

It's good to start with what you know for sure you're not. I made a list back in the day and wrote down all the labels that didn't apply to me. I also wrote down labels I really liked, but what's most important is writing down how your gender feels even if you don't have a specific label in mind. That way, you have a description of an experience in your mind and you can look to see if there are labels that match it, or at least relate to it.

Also me: if you would like to really get into shit. First off, I’m agender-genderqueer. Like, both. That’s not negotiable. I’m agender in a way that’s inherently genderqueer. And I’m genderqueer in a way that feels like a lot of nothing but like, queer nothing. But I’m also masc. But that’s dependent on me being agender-genderqueer first and foremost. Masc like a planet drifting through the vastness of agender & genderqueer. Like, you need to understand that I’m agender-genderqueer and only within that, within that framework, I’m masc. my gender is a whole lot of dark swirliness but it’s masc in nature swirliness. I’m more transneutral, but because that isn’t an achievable transition goal in the way I want it to be, I’m transneu-masc. I’m an agender guy, a genderqueer guy, because I’m only a guy in the sense that I like the word. I’m not a boy, I’m not a man. But a guy in like a genderneutral way. In an “adjacent to masculinity” way. In a “it isn’t entirely correct but let’s just stick with it” way. In an “if you say masc you have to say agender” and an “if you say masc you have to say genderqueer” way. Because I claim “guy” and make it genderneutral. My gender is the vast emptiness of agender and the swirling, bouncing lavalamp-blobs of genderqueer. But perceive me as a guy. I am no more masc than the color green. No more masc than the color purple. My gender is nothing but that nothing is queer to its core. And where the river of agender and the river of genderqueer intermingle, there drifts a tiny little paper boat of masculinity. The few, meticulously placed off-color masc stitches on my cross-stitch tapestry of agender-genderqueerness.
