Christmas Hymn Story: In Dulci Jubilo
Christmas Hymn Story: In Dulci Jubilo
“In dulci jubilo” means in sweet rejoicing in Latin. The original text is believed to have been written around 1328 by Heinrich Seuse, a German mystic. According to folklore, “Seuse heard angels sing these words and joined them in a dance of worship.” The tune first appears in a manuscript dating around 1400. Many historians believe the melody may have existed in Europe prior to this date. It…

Demian / Limbus Company, demisin, 13.9k words, @neomedievalist was my lovely and amazing cowriter
“And the situation that was caused by this?” he prompts after I had gone silent for too long. “It turns out what they had meant by that was a… a partner. A relationship,” I say as I put my head in my hands. “They were asking if I had a girlfriend and I responded in such a way that they took it as me confessing to you being my— That you are my—“ “That I am your boyfriend.” Demian is finally giving me his full attention and the fact it is because of this makes me want to crawl into a hole and die.
A fake dating fic where, after causing a misunderstanding with his parents, Emil brings Demian home for Christmas as his 'boyfriend' and has to confront the fact that having a relationship with his dear friend is something he has wanted for a long, long time. It is more inspired by the book but due to the modern setting it is basically 100% compliant to Limbus Company, so it can be read by fans of either <3 !

Anyway heres the opposite. Heres medieval peasants trolling me with their music
[VD: A clip from Pentiment where a Christmas song is played. It's a 2D video game styled like a medieval manuscript. In the big inn people are feasting, Magdalene is given dialogue options to request Christmas song from the two musicians.
Hmm... what about Be Welcome to Us, Lord Christ? I always like Good Christian Men Rejoice! How about From Heave Above to Earth I Come?
(second option chosen) One of the musicians, Alexander responds "A folk tune! One of Kazimierz's favorites. Once Kaz and I play what we've prepared, we'll be sure to play that one. Merry Christmas, everyone! Since it is Christmas, Kazimierz and I wanted to share a special song with all of you, in the spirit of giving. Please, enjoy!"
He begins to sing, accompanied by Kaz on the lute "In Dulci Jubilo" as the shot zooms out over the entire crowded inn. END]
so why is wifi gets trolled... well imagine ur me. and u were raised so "secular christian" uve never stepped in a church. i cut 20 second of this clip of me just. looking at those options thinking "am i supposed to know medieval HYMNS?" only for my choice to not matter... and then THATS the song they play.... well either u know that song u you dont... if they had let me pick it as an option. i doubt it would have meant anything to me. except. except for. very fucking year. for DECADES. there was this one song on the family playlist. the song u use to WAKE PEOPLE UP. the song that means. its time to indulge ur family and their annoying ways. a song refered to in conversation as "do di do di doo". that song, being this song....
