i mean this in the like... nicest way possible, but there is no way to post your writing and/or art on the internet without running the very high risk of it getting scraped, whether you post it on tumblr, pillowfort, or ao3. sites being 'anti ai' does not mean your art cannot be scraped. it is simply almost impossible to prevent, much less guarantee that. I'm not saying this to be a pessimist or to stop people from being rightfully pissed about this. it sucks. massively so! but if the idea does in fact bother you that much, you should know that moving sites won't fix the issue. ao3, as far as we know, has been scraped/is getting scraped. you can set your fics so that only logged in users can access them, but it only makes scraping one step more difficult, and by no means impossible and the otw has stated this clearly.

which, again, this sucks! i don't have a great solution either!! but tumblr is relatively honest, at least, when it tells you that it cannot prevent, only discourage it. ao3 said the same thing. any site promising you otherwise is, to the best of my knowledge, lying to you.

I made the mistake of scrolling the dash last night, hoping to re-engage my Loki fandom feels, only to be reminded of why I've more or less quit this fandom - which, for the record, is bc I don't know if it's purity culture or "woke" culture or just "for the love of god, I'm begging you to touch grass" culture, but I'd like to engage with my blorbo without running into posts spouting takes like "saying Loki has small, slender hands is a feminization kink (and therefore bad)." Like?? I think there's something inherently anti-genderfluidity(?) to assume that men can't have small, slender hands or that having small, slender hands is automatically a feminine trait, and also Loki does have small, slender hands, and also even if it is being written as some kind of a kink, so what? Why are we kink-shaming?

I mean, I don't know, it just seems like there are more and more and more things that are being shamed, or criticized, based on an arbitrary sense of morality that undermines fiction as a creative, explorative form of art and it's just beyond exhausting - and fucking obnoxious - at this point.

🎵 I think the thing people don't get about the "pro-ship/anti-ship" labels (and here I'm talking about the "pro-ship dni" trend and the targeting of AO3) is that "pro-ship" - or at least what gets labeled as such - is this massive umbrella. "I actively ship things that are 'problematic'" is "pro-ship," but "I don't give a fuck, I'm going to be an adult and follow the rule of 'don't like, don't read'" also gets labeled "pro-ship," even though it's more of a "fuck off with your harassment and censorship bullshit" than it is actually pro-anything. This is what happens when nuanced discussion dies and people try to make everything 100% black and white. Meanwhile, "anti-ship" is just "I am the morality police and believe it's better to harass and bully and threaten real people over fiction than to be reasonable and not read things I hate, because surely the censors will never come for me." Hate to break it to you, bud, but yes they will. I've watched it happen before with fandom and history is absolutely teeming with examples. They will come for you, no matter how "morally pure" you attempt to be. That's what they do.
