 インダクタの値は、470μHから4.7mHまでさまざまな値で実験をしました。どの値でもチューニングさえしてやれば実用レベルの音を出しますが、1mH以下ではPCM2704からみた負荷が重くなるので歪が増加します。インダクタンス値を高くしてゆくとPCM2704で発生する歪は減ってきますが、LPF自体の回路インピーダンスが上昇するので、後続のトランスのインダクタンスや浮遊容量の影響を受けやすくなってきて、中高域でのフラットネスが得られなくなります。あちらを立てればこちらが立たずな関係があるわけです。両者の折り合いをつけられそうなのが2.2mH~2.7mHあたりなので、最終的に2.2mH~2.7mHに落ち着いたというわけです。しかし、この値でなければダメなわけではなく、1.5mH~3.3mHくらいの範囲であれば十分にチューニングできると思います。私は実験で使用して余った1.5mHと3.3mHを自分用のDACで再利用しています。
 本機ではもっぱら2.7mHのインダクタを使いますが、インダクタンスが2.7mHのものであればどれでもいいというわけではありません。インダクタはコイル本来の性質だけでなく長い巻き線によるかなり大きな直流抵抗(DCR)があり、この抵抗成分の存在がトランスの性能を劣化させます。直流抵抗(DCR)はインダクタにテスターを当てれば測定できます。初期設計は2.2mH/20Ωでしたが、最新の設計は2.7mH/9~10Ωです。直流抵抗値が低いほどトランスの低域特性が良くなります。しかし、この値が変化するとAKI.DACと組み合わせた時の超低域および高域の周波数特性をも変化させてしまうことにも注意する必要があります。
