Applin Facts
Tumblr media
(Art by Mizue)
-The scientific name for the Applin "Fructus vermis" which translates to "Fruit worm"
-The Applin line is distantly related to the sceptile line
-While apples are the most common, Applin don't just inhabitat apples; they inhabit all kinds of fruits and sometimes vegetables! A favorite one of mine is when they inhabit pumpkins, because they look really cute, and pumpkin appletuns look adorable
-Applin don't need to eat much, as their apples provide them with a lot of nutrients. But if you've ever had one, you'd know they'd still try to steal your food
-Applin are long living, with them being able to live up to 150+ years
-Not many people know this, but without their fruit, Applin just look like regular baby wyrms
Tumblr media
-Their skin is very sensitive to the elements, which is another reason in why they have fruits protecting them
-Please never forcefully remove your Applin's fruit unless its for medical reasons. Since they're fully exposed, they can end up gaining a lot of anxiety and aggression until they're put back
-Applin eggs from Appletun are hatched in dens under tree stumps, while Applin eggs laid from Flapple are usually hatched on tree branches (their eggs are very small)
-While the apple is used for protection, many flying types seen to break through that and eat both the apple and the Applin

general - windenshire DR
Tumblr media Tumblr media
basically like my hometown except with a few changes to make things better and more interesting.
windenshire is a small town in southern ontario blocked off from the outside world. after a paranormal incident confirmed the hypothesis that the town and all its inhabitats were cursed, the town border was shut tightly, with only inanimate objects being allowed in and out.
there are a few prominent families within windenshire, all of whom are quite rich and high-status. the morgensterns, the taylors, and the labandes are the important one to me. there are many others, but tbh i don't care about them, and even if i did, they would take too long to explain.
the town is located beachside on lake ontario, and has four high school's and six elementary/middle schools. high schools are maplewood high school, ridgeview park high school, the acacia institute of business and trade, and west bridge high school. the elementary/middle schools are greylocke public school (K-8), beach valley elementary school (K-5), windenshire public school (K-8), lakeview elementary school (K-5), eastside hills middle school (6-8), and silverleaf elementary school (K-5).

The Ancestral Witches
Belladonna, Liliss and Tharmathey are the first evil witches in existence, born in oblivion. They are the mother of all witches as they whisper into the mind of magic users, turning them greedy/evil/mischievous and granting them powers that can be passed on.
They haven't been actively creating witches for a long time, but right before they were defeated by the company of light, they each chose their most loyal apprentice and bestowed their darkest powers to their future child and told them of the destiny their children were to fulfil, who turn out to be the trix.
obtaining the dragon flame was never their true goal as witches, just to spread chaos and tip the balance of good and evil.
however when Darkar approached them for help, they first refused. but darkar unleashed the power of the shadow phoenix and cursed them, and magically bound the witches to assist in his quest to be the strongest being in the Magical Universe. Thus the witches were forced to work to find and aquire the dragon flame. Their search lasted for 3000years total, and they only finally pinpointed its location 16 years before the events of the story. (2000 years after they started they also created Valtor from a spark of the dragon flame that Darkar had and trusted them with)
the reason they took so long to find it was because the dragon flame itself didnt want to be found. it was hidden away in an "anti-magic" room so that its magic couldnt be sensed. the witches spend the 3000 years torturing Domino and its inhabitats (to the point where the people of domino became experienced fighters, every child having to go thorugh a mandatory education to learn how to block all types of attacks, especially psychic attacks.) for the exact location of the dragon flame. they only finally learned of where the flame was hidden when torturing one of the guards of the castle, almost his family in front of him just to fully heal them to do it again. the guard was new and young and gave up the location just to save his family, but they died of ther injuries anyway.
The Dragon flame is hidden on the opposite side of Domino from the castle, protected by an elite group of guards, hidden in a cave with a secret entrance from an unassuming valley, which also has an anti magic spell around it so its power cannot be tracked or sensed.
Daphne overhears the torture while in search of the guard, and before even hearing the conclusion, she goes to the cave to extract the flame to inbed it into her baby sister and send her away to earth. and because the earth is being extingushed of magic because of the black circle witches, Daphne knew that would be the best place to hide her sister and the flame, as its power wont be sensed and found.
once the witches found the location, they sped over there to grab the flame, but the cave was empty. so they went to the castle to look for the flame, sensing its power. they see daphne and curse her sirenix, before they confronted her so that when she used her powers she would become a spirit without a body. before they could get the flmae, daphne's portal to earth closed. and the flame was thought to be lost. the witches proceeded to destroy the entire planet while fighting with the Company of Light, and with their last spells, Belladonna covered the whole planet in ice, and Liliss and Tharma drag Orion and Marion with them into Oblivion.

Avatar facts for world building:
_____________________________
So, something I've been seeing a lot inside the Avatar Fandom and fanfictions is people referring to the glowing animals that Kiri controlled as glow fish!
Tumblr media
At first glance it may seem so, but they are in fact squids!
When looking closer it actually becomes quite obvious. The squids inhabitat reefs and can occur in big schools with hundreds of squid!
Tumblr media
The little creatures are merely a few centimeters in length, have two eyes on the front of their head and twelve tentacles. It seems they glow only in the dark, giving off a yellow or orange color, due to their glow being caused by bioluminescence.
Tumblr media
I've seen some people equate them to the atokirina/woodsprites from the forest, as a messenger for Eywa, but as of now, there's no canon proof of this. They may hold some significance as Kiri was shown interacting with them on three seperate occasions, all alluting to Kiris connecting to Eywa, but none of the characters, besides Ronal had much of a reaction towards it. So for now, all theory's on their significance remain theories.
-------------------
Well, I hope this post might be informative and of help to some of you!
Asks are always welcome,so please don't hesitate to send some :)

various 3d world (dnb) headcanons (feel free to steal them if you want :} )
the 3d world is a flat plane that gets more and more fucked up the deeper you go into it, by deeper means to go north more and more
native genera are bamboids (bambilikes), 3d beings (anything else thats sapient, see blight (oc) as an example or ohungi if you want a “canon” one), and 3d bugs (equivalent of insects and arachnids and crustaceans)
only the first two are sapient (usually)
above the 3d world is the 4d world, where even more fucked things come from if you go deep enough in, this world also functions as a sort of afterlife for those that die in the 3d world
the 4d world can also be used to view the 3d world, but not interact with it in any way
4d world is also called The Other Plane by inhabitats of the 3d world
being unable to fly is considered a disability in the 3d world, because flying makes it much easier to traverse, though cars and shit do exist
unless youre human, a 2d world native (along with other earth critters), then they ignore that fact
humans are not viewed the fondest in the 3d world, due to their ability to do much stronger magic than 3d beings and bamboids (this comes from bambi civ lol, in it humans canonically are magical)
they are often feared, if not flat out hated, when seen in the 3d world
bamboids do not innately possess an origin form, though significant deities/minor deities of bamboid species do and are born that way (often called originators)
false origin forms can be taught by originators to others as a sort of power-up, like a mario star
however, in non-originators, it often turns them beastlike, animalistic, or just plain violent
canon originators (significant deities, in this case) would be bambi, expunged, bandu, and recurser (maybe? debating their species. they might just be a 3d being)
originator-ness can be passed down, though sometimes skips generations
bamboid reproduction is (Normally) nonsexual, varying between literally building the child out of pieces you want them to be, willing it into existance with a strong bond and will, or bloodmagic sharing
baby 3d beings and bamboids can just be Spawned in the void (lacking of civilization areas of the 3d world) sometimes, not innately made by other adults

A house that tries to bring its inhabitats food, but it does not understand what humans eat, so it keeps dropping animal carcasses in front of them. This makes the inhabitants assume the house hates them and wants them gone
One day the house grows a mouth and eats a carcass in front of them to try to teach them how to eat. This, of course, made things worse

7. Which non-sapient species is your favourite? (I.e. paramites, scrabs, slogs etc)
Love scrabs and paramites equally except for the fact that scrabs also terrify me with their roar (it toned down a bit as I've got used to it now, but when i was a kid - it scared the shit outta me). So I think - Shrykull (I know it's a deity and not a separate species, but it's literally a paramite and a scrab as one entity)
8. Which is your favourite level/cutscene?
Every game has my own favourite moments and there's too much of them but I shall say that every Soulstorm cutscene is amazing and they've set the plank Oddworld have never been at before. As a hobbyist 3D artist and animator myself I am absolutely amazed by the outcome! The overall idea to implement the classic rules of animation on realistic models gives you that slight dissonance very similiar to uncanny valley, instead it's not! I'd rather say it looks... Odd ;) But in a good way! Clearly adds up to the whole concept of the world and it's inhabitats being slightly weird to our human eye but so real at the same time.
Tumblr media
Personally, I was sitting with my jaw open for first time, and for the second, and even now when I'm rewatching it, spotting more and more tiny details, which I will continue looking for, for a looong time.
Honorable mentions:
Oddworld: Munch's Oddysey - The Vykkers's Lab first scene, because Irwin and Humprey's interaction is something that ruined my overall impression of vykkers being a cold-blooded-edgy-alien-sadist-machines I had before I played Munch's Oddysey. Turned out it's just a bunch of dumb pragmatic nerds with saws and cleavers. Also, the weirdest married couple I've ever seen.
Oddworld: Abe's Oddysey - The opening scene. My mind was branded with this cutscene, leaving an unforgetable mark on it forever. Also yes, I’ve had an original version of the game, with a mudokon head on a stick. My 5 year old brain remembered it very well. But little did I know that it’s not the scariest thing I had yet to see.
And Rupture Farms is also my most favourite level too. Yes, not even Slig Barracks, not even Bonewerkz, which I also like because of amazing sountrack and industrial look. Rupture Farms is still the coldest, the darkest and most unfriendly among them all IMO.
18. How many times have you played the games?
Let’s see. I am not sure on how to count it. If it’s a time when you turn your console on to play it - then a lot, an ungodly amount of times. Especially during the PS1 era. But if we estimate it by runs, then:
Abe’s Oddysee: 1 run (failed, because my disk was damaged).
Abe’s Exoddus: 3 runs (one on PS1, one completed recently with only 20 muds unsaved, the new run is in progress)
Munch’s Oddysee: 1 run
Soulstorm: 1 run, 2 endings (Got a bad one first, then went for a good one).
Keeping New’n’Tasty as a hostage, so I wouldn’t feel like I played all the games + Still trying to find some time to play Stranger’s Wrath.

Most worldbuilding: *Serious with realistic logic*
Me: Yeah there's a continent called Counterfornia and the world was split in half cause a God was clumsy and did an oopsie and also the inhabitats of each hemisphere call each other Upside and Downside or more rudely the Disorient and the Accident.

I would like to know where certain phobias usually inhabitat, specifically ones you have not informed us on their whereabouts yet. (to my knowledge) Here is the list! Chica, Glitchtrap, Shadow Bonnie and Freddy, and I think that's all. Keep up the good work!
Chica likes to stay in alleyways and populated areas, shadow Bonnie likes roaming empty streets at night, along with Freddy. Glitchtrap is just wherever he happens to be, he has no specific home
