For chapter thirty of bmo. I think this is the first scene from Mike's POV idk why I haven't done it before

After five minutes, or maybe ten, Mike was satisfied that he’d gotten the majority of ripe blackberries from the bush. He trotted along, humming to himself as he bounced on the forest floor feeling rather chuffed that he’d managed to find a decent harvest. He couldn’t help smile to himself when he rounded the corner and spotted Nanaba standing behind a low bush with his binoculars in her hand. She was so beautiful.

She turned. He waved. Her face scrunched and she gestured ‘come here’.

He trotted faster.

“Get here now!” she hissed.

He wrapped his arms around his precious tub of blackberries.

“What happened? You ok?” he called.

“Shush!”

Before he could say another word, she dropped to a crouch, hiding behind the bush. Mike followed suit and he squatted then squat-ran towards her. His knees bashed into his chest with every step

“What happened?” he whispered. “What did you see?”

Nanaba handed him the binoculars and pointed out into the clearing beyond the bush. Mike narrowed his eyes. The clearing opened out onto a cloudless cornflower sky and still cerulean waters. A figure clad in shorts and a bright red t shirt was standing by the shallows.

Mike shrugged. “What?”

“Look then!” she said.

Mike brought the binoculars to his eyes. They were his tactical binoculars and Nanaba had ruined the focus. He adjusted them and looked again.

“Is that... Levi?” It was. Pasty and awkward and looking out across the water. What was he doing out here on a Saturday? He’d told Mike he was staying on at MMA to help one of his students train for a competition.

“Look closer, Mike.”

He scanned the muddy verge that Levi was stood on. Near his feet was a container that held the unmistakable purple-black of perfectly ripe, perfectly juicy blackberries.

“The bastard!” Mike couldn’t control his outburst. “He’s the blackberry thief!”

Nanaba grabbed his wrist, moving his view out on to the water. “Look closer!”

There was someone else, wading out onto the water.

“Is that... is that... Hange?” Mike lowered the binoculars. He slowly turned to Nanaba. “I thought Hange told you she was taking her nephew to the zoo today.”

Nanaba nodded. “And I thought Levi told you he was training all afternoon.”

Mike’s heart went wild. He wobbled. He reached out to steady himself against the nearest tree. “It can’t be...”

we'll never find out because nothing has to change

orange sunlight earlier nights golden mornings

no need to say goodbye when the sun is burning us alive

they call this the dog days and I still haven't figured out why

maybe it's the way dogs hate to see people go

maybe it's all that love to give to anyone who will have it

summer is going to end eventually and seasons are gonna change

but right now we're playing limbo

bending under a pole to see how far we can go

and it doesn't have to change just yet
