Genetic Distrust

She wished she had quills And further fueled distrust Of the ones

With whom she was related

She wouldn't state Why she distrusted them so much Some of her reasons made sense

And some of them were just there (instinctive)

In her mind, she pictured a porcupine Not erethizontidae, those run away No, she pictured hystricidae

The kind that crippled apex predators Turning lions and tigers into maneaters

She pictured a rodentine amalgam With the quills of hystricidae And her relatives as its enemies

As she mused, she envied this creature It had what she didn't

Still, she distrusted her relatives Those ones with whom she shared her genetics For reasons

Reasons that made sense And ones that didn't (instinctive)

Still, within, in her imagination, She pictured a despondent quilled rodentine amalgam And a lioness and tiger in the distance

In reality, she'd never let them embrace her No, she kept them at a distance

That amalgam's quills could cripple them both (perhaps, at one point, they nicked her with their claws?)

She'd rather burn herself alive Self-immolation would hurt a lot less Than get close to them again

Such is her existence And she's accepted it

The last time guys showed up on the island with guns, you didn't have any (*S&P whispering*) stun-sticks pointed in your face, or get menaced by a man holding a (*whisperwhisper*) crossbow just out of frame, or realize that the guy you thought was friendly was actually a dangerous stranger as he picks up a ten-inch-knife (*looks over expectantly, blinks in surprise*) and talks to you while holding it in the same frame.

5 headcanons game: Kori as Bruce's daughter in law? 👀

1. Bruce is unsure about Kori in the beginning (shes so strong and powerful and he knows nothing about her!! Thats his baby she’s dating!!) but he promised himself he wouldn’t interfere with Dick’s team and he will not check her files without permission, he is holding himself back by the cape collar. He is unflinchingly polite to her, which makes Dick very uncomfortable.

(Bruce is rude. He is. Its how you know he trusts you.)

2. He doesnt know anything about her family until he asks Dick if she’d like to join them for Chanukah, and if there are any tamaranian holidays he’ll be joining her for. The conversation ends up goiing something like:

Dick: well considering her family are the ones that sold her into slavery i think she’ll be fine celebrating on - did you just snap the keyboard in half???

Bruce: is she allergic to wool and would she like a chanukah sweater? Nevermind, i’ll make her gloves and a sweater. I have blue cashmere yarn somewhere around here -

3. In the comics there are protests around alien-human marriages, and i think Bruce very publicly hires Kori to be the Wayne Enterprises spokesperson for one of their more popular divisions as a way of making his position clear. (I also think WE has a program for alien refugees on earth)

4. Kori has absolutely no problem calling Bruce out when he’s being particularly bad at communicating. Bruce appreciates it a lot, actually, and he finds himself calling her to chat when he knows he’s about to say something stupid.

5. Kori knows Bruce is desperate to make her feel comfortable in the manor, because if she’s comfortable Dick will come around more often, and she has no problem using that to her advantage. Donna doesn’t know why they go shopping in Gotham so often, but she isn’t complaining.

She also has no idea why Kori and Batman spar so often, but once again, not complaining. Watching Batman lose is very satisfying.

A while back, I mentioned the angsty headcanon that there’s practically no pictures left of Sirius pre-Azkaban (aside from any that the Blacks have or the one of James’s wedding; any others were destroyed or Sirius was cut out) and I have decided that there is one photo of Sirius before he rotted in Azkaban for 12 years, and it is the one that ran in the newspaper when he got arrested. He is laughing hysterically, there’s bodies strewn around him from the explosion, the street is destroyed, and he’s surrounded by Aurors and Hit Wizards and several of them are horrified as they look at the damage surrounding them. Not long after that picture runs, the papers publish photos of the Lestranges and Crouch Jr. being arrested and in stark contrast to the stoic silence of the Lestrange brothers and Barty’s apprehension, Bellatrix is cackling as the Aurors arrest them; Sirius and Bellatrix, already so similar looking, have never looked more alike than they do in those pictures while laughing as they get dragged to Azkaban. Needless to say, the Order has many thoughts on the two photos and not one of them is kind. Narcissa keeps the photos, but it’s a bit of an “I want to remember how they were before Azkaban wrecks them” thing and also she’s got a morbid sense of humor so her family laughing as they get arrested is hilarious to her (and as a bit of a taunt to Sirius, like “you tried so hard to run from us, but you really are just like us, you’ll never not be a Black at your core”). But regardless, that is the only photo truly left of 21 year old Sirius

yeah. i answered an ask the other day about operation condor and i mentioned in that answer our treatment of argentina at the time was a major misstep. we were overzealous. i generally find peron very favorable and consider him one of the greatest south american leaders. i dislike how friendly he got with leftists but i also can't really blame him considering how we treated him and his regime.
